Warrior Gene Influence Human Behavior
In today s society, violence occurs every minute somewhere in some shape or form. It continues to be
a plague that causes humans humility, pain, and death. Both the scientific and criminal justice fields
have been stumped for years by the question of where does the influence of violence come from?
Nature versus nurture has always been one of the most prevalent arguments relating to this topic. The
nature argument is based on the belief that an individual s biology/DNA contributes to their behavior,
where the nurture argument believes that the environment one is exposed to is what actually
influences their behavior. According to Hickey, biological positivism was the method of applying the
scientific method to the task of determining who was a criminal (48). Criminologists such as Franz
Joseph Gall and Cesare Lombroso were among the first to propose ... Show more content on

Advances in technology within the fields of medicine and biology have allowed researchers to
investigate deepen into why humans behave the way they do. The issue that is of interest these days is
the study of the Warrior Gene. There is debate on whether or not the Warrior Gene has an influence on
an individual s behavior and if it can be used to determine if someone will commit criminal acts. On
one side you have those that claim the warrior gene can be related to aggressive and violent behavior.
In fact, humans with a low activity form of the MAOA (Monoamine Oxidase A, or the warrior gene)
gene are much more prevalent in groups with a history of warfare (Hickey 49). The opposition claims
nature and nurture are inexplicably linked and that there is always an environmental component to
human behavior (Hickey 49). The question is, does a warrior gene make people more prone to
violence? I will summarize the yes and no sides of the argument while also providing my own opinion

Lack Of Schools In Schools Essay
Lack of Schools for Girls When you walk through the streets and enter into the houses of the village,
you will notice boys and girls from the same family and parents but with a big difference between
their lives. You will see the boy with ultimate freedom and many options to live the kind of life that he
wants but to the other side you will face a girl with a desperate and hopeless smile with many wishes
and dreams that are always wishes for her. Instead of having pen and books in her hand, she is doing
all the type of hard and physical work all her life. She is always silent and powerless against the harsh
rules of life. Furthermore, when it comes to the rest of her life. She cannot select the partner of her life
with whom she spends the rest of her life. She never had a book in her hand or learned in school, to
know that how she can have her freedom and can chose whatever she wants for herself. She never
went to school and learned that how powerful she is and what big things she can do. That is the kind
of life that a girl has in province of Wardak, Afghanistan. Lack of girls school is a big problem in the
Wardak, Afghanistan, and in order to solve it religious leaders and seniors of the province, and
government can have a big role.
Lack of Schools for girls is a key problem in Wardak province. This problem is the biggest hurdle on
their ways of getting education. With that in mind, an uneducated girl is like a blind person that goes

What Is The Difference Between Congress And Us Elections
The legislature in the U.S. and the U.K. differ in some pretty important ways. First, in regards to
Parliament, the entire legislature is dissolved at least once every five years, and new elections are held
for every seat. In the United States, Representatives and Senators are elected based on term lengths
instead. Second, in the UK, the House of Commons is mostly the only house in Parliament that gets
elected directly by the people. This is different from Congress because, in the US, both the House and
the Senate are elected. The Legislative process itself also differs markedly between Congress and
Parliament. In the U.S, legislation must pass in the same form through both houses of Congress before
it can be sent to the President s desk. Either ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is probably due to the fact that the House of Commons is the one that the people show up to vote
for. Currently there are 650 members of the House of Commons (). Elections for these seats are held
based on something called constituencies. These are based on geographical features, local government
boundaries, land area and population ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 5). The average population of a
constituency is about 68,500 people ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 5). These seats are all vacated at
least once every five years, and new elections are held to fill them. Interestingly, elections in the
United Kingdom tend to be a very different type of event than the elections we are used to here in the
states. General election campaigns typically only last about three weeks ( Parliamentary Elections
2007, 6) The amount of money that parties can spend on elections is restricted based on the number of
candidates it puts up, and currently sits at 19.77 million for a party that contests all the seats in the
House of Commons ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6). Paid political advertising on both radio and
television is not allowed, and television coverage of elections is required to be impartial (
Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6). This is a vastly different political atmosphere than the one we are
used to in the United States, where elections are huge events that result in the spending of billions of
dollars in a particular election cycle ( Election,

Armageddon In Retrospect Kurt Vonnegut Analysis
How can the view of a humanist change our perspective of World War II? Kurt Vonnegut, author of
Armageddon in Retrospect, did just that. From the viewpoint of a humanist that was a part of World
War II, I realized there was more to the war than just fighting. Vonnegut is able to tell nonfiction and
fiction short stories that give a different perspective and causes the reader to think deeper about the
war. Up until now, most, if not all, of the pieces I have read about World War II have been from either
a victim of the war or someone in the military, but not a humanist. Humanists want what is best for
everyone and want everyone to work together to agree. This is a different viewpoint because when I
think of World War II, I do not imagine the Axis working or agreeing with the Allies. I never stopped
to think that someone could be fighting in the war, but not agree with what they were doing, such as
killing civilians. Through experiencing World War II first hand, Vonnegut makes different
conclusions, reaches contrasting perspectives, and shows humanistic viewpoints throughout his short
stories. Vonnegut reaches conclusions about the war that are different than others. After reading some
of Armageddon in Retrospect, it seems that Vonnegut has a personal perspective to the war. He feels
sorrow and regret for the killings of people. Vonnegut is a humanist, so he behaves well and does not
expect consequences in the Afterlife. Him being a humanist is the reason he reaches certain
conclusions about the war. For example, in Wailing Shall Be in All Streets, Vonnegut mentions that he
would have rather saved Dresden and everyone should feel the same as him about all the cities on
Earth. I interpret his conclusion of the war as him thinking it was not necessary to kill many civilians,
particularly women and children. This shows that he wants to do good for people and he believes
everyone should want to do the same, which seems like what humanists want. Vonnegut s conclusions
are different than other readings, such as Stimson s. Stimson, Secretary of War, talked about the
United Nations succeeding due to providence, meaning they won because God wanted them to win.
He ended by saying that they would

Questions On The Theoretical Lens
Jesus F. Garcia 6/15/2015 Midterm Question 1 Part A Theoretical lens refers to a set of assumptions
made, that are composed of factors such as past experiences, cultural background, and religion. This
concept can be problematic when a society attempts to assume the way things will be and turn out to
be unexpected. Dennis Phillips explains, people often learn to understand things based on the set of
theories and belies with which they were raised. (Seminar 1, June 1) In child development, theoretical
lens of developing countries can ultimately hurt the way a society views the progress of its future
generations. Additionally, outcomes that are outside of the theoretical lens are often rejected, which
can cause distress to those individuals who are not conforming to these expectations. Different
countries have different assumptions about how the world works and the role that each individual
plays in it. These individuals, such as children, across the globe have different expectations from
society based on the region s theoretical lens. For example the main issues facing young people in
India will be the school versus work, the tradition of early arranged marriages, the caste system, and
the rights of women. (Gielen, 2004) The expectations of Indian culture are completely different from
those found in the United States for young people. The culture difference is key in how new
generations will develop in accordance to societies expectations. A young person in

The Rate Of Gross Domestic Product And Unemployment
The relationship between rate of Gross Domestic Product and Unemployment
Of an economy
The economic power of an economy is what truly enables it to be a global ruler; furthermore a strong
economy means the people are employed, successful and thriving. The best way to measure the
economy s current health is to just take a look at their Gross domestic production and unemployment
rate. A strong economy stands for global dominance and influence, resulting in high standards of
living, decreased unemployment, and prevention from recessions, depressions and also lower the risk
of inflation but is there a link between the gross domestic product and unemployment that plays a role
in all this? And how does this effect the well being of an economy, also why was the Canadian
recession of 2008 a proof of this direct but opposite link of GDP and unemployment.
Now to connect the dots, it s easy to put out all these terms but not actually understand how they are
related well the growth of GDP means there is more demand of products and if there is demand,
companies need workers to make those products, hence there is lesser unemployment and the
economy is growing and production rate is also increasing. If the rate growth is constantly decreasing
with lesser demand and there is constant lower economic activity then the economy goes into
recession. To further elaborate these concepts, Gross domestic product stands for the total economic
activity of a nation, it means the monetary value of

Essay about Social Classes in Wuthering Heights
Social Classes in Wuthering Heights
Wuthering Heights, a gothic novel written by Emily Bronte in the early nineteenth century, describes
the conflict and the passionate bond between Catherine Earnshaw and her rough but romantic lover,
Heathcliff. In the beginning of the book, Heathcliff, an orphan is made a part of the Earnshaw family.
This adoption is not readily accepted by the older brother, Hindley, who sees the new child as a rival
to his claim of dominance in the family. However, Catherine, the sister is quickly attracted to young
Heathcliff, so different from anyone she had ever known. As the two grow older, Heathcliff finds
himself falling in love with Catherine. Mr. Earnshaw soon dies, leaving Hindley in charge of the ...

Heathcliff is so desperate for acceptance that he is willing to cheat people to gain the property he
craves. By doing so he hopes to show
Catherine that he is worthy of her, a landowner in his own right.
After Catherine accepts Edgar s proposal, she seeks out Nelly and tells here that [I]t would degrade
[her] to marry Heathcliff now; so he shall never know how [she] love[s] him; and that, not because he
s handsome, Nelly, but because he s more [herself] than [she] [is].
Whatever [their] souls are made of, his and [hers] are the same, and
Linton s is as different as a moonbeam from lightning, or frost from fire. (Page 74, lines 29 33).
Heathcliff overhears this conversation between Nelly and Catherine and leaves Wuthering Heights
after hearing Catherine say that it would degrade her to marry him.
Heathcliff tries to make himself more presentable to Catherine by moving up the social system.
However, he does this by cheating and taking advantage of people. Heathcliff takes advantage of
Hindley s state of alcoholism and takes over Wuthering Heights. Heathcliff also takes advantage of
Edgar Linton s will my making young Catherine (the daughter of Catherine Earnshaw and Edgar
Linton) marry Linton (the son of Heathcliff and Isabella Linton) so he could acquire Thrushcross
Grange (where Edgar Linton lives).
Bronte seems to have mixed opinions of the lower class by characterizing Heathcliff positively and
negatively. Lockwood,

The Canterbury Tales And The Pardoner s Tale
In the late 1300s Geoffrey Chaucer wrote The Canterbury Tales, a story which follows the religious
journey of twenty nine people, who represent many aspects of Medieval society, to the Canterbury
Cathedral in southeast England. While on the pilgrimage the host of the tavern, where all the pilgrims
meet, suggests that the pilgrims each tell a story for the group s entertainment. Chaucer intended for
all the voyagers to tell two stories, but he unfortunately died before he could finish the book and only
got to write one story apiece. However, the goal of the storytelling contest is to tell the most moral
story possible, and the one who wins receives a free meal, which the rest of the pilgrims will pay for.
Although some of the other stories have good moral messages, The Pardoner s Tale and The Wife of
Bath s Tale are on different ends of the moral spectrum. The Pardoner s Tale focuses on a pardoner
who preaches against greed. While The Wife of Bath s Tale exemplifies what all women want in their
relationships: power. Although both The Pardoner s Tale and The Wife of Bath s Tale demonstrate the
value of the opinion of elders, the stories differ in their moral values and their storyteller s values. In
The Pardoner s Tale a group of revelrous men seek revenge after Death kills their friend. While on the
hunt for Death, the men find an old man, who has found Death, but Death has not taken the man yet.
The three brutes ask the man where to find Death, and he sends

Essay Learning in a Mechanistic Organization
MECHANISTIC ORGANIZATIONS
Metaphors create a method of thinking, it compares items of deferent characteristic showing
similarities but not differences, recently shadow chancellor George Osborne criticising Gordon
Brown, he said Gordon is a man with an overdraft, not a plan (Metro, October 28, 2008). Here we can
see that the word overdraft is used to describe some of the present characteristics of Gordon Brown in
relation to spending. Various metaphors have been used by different writers to show the structure of
organisations, examples include: machine, organismic and brain metaphor as used by Morgan in

Fredrick Taylor, another management theorist invented the principle of scientific management
showing five simple management principles: 1. Shift all responsibility for the organisation of work
from the worker to the manager. Managers think, plan, and design work, while the workers does the
implementation, 2. Use scientific method to determine the most efficient way of doing work. Design
worker s task accordingly, specifying the precise way in which the work is to be done, 3. Select the
best person to perform the job thus designed, 4. Train the worker to do the work effectively, 5.
Monitor worker performance to ensure that appropriate work procedures are followed and that
appropriate results are achieved. (Morgan 1997)
McDonalds, Burger King, Greggs, and most fast food outlets are perfect examples of Taylor s
principles. Other examples include car / automobile manufacturing companies like: Honda, Toyota,
Ford, Mitsubishi, London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, British high commission in Nigeria,
etc
Mechanistic forms of organisation have many advantages and some very serious disadvantages.
Organisations such as McDonald s DHL, Ford, FEDEX, aircraft maintenance departments, finance
offices (HM customs inland revenue) are good examples of the success of mechanistic model of
organisation. The advantages of mechanistic organisation will include the fact that It designs task to

A Story Of A Story
I am who I am. I talk to each and every one of you everyday. I promise you that you know me well. I
will tell you a story that takes place in a particular town, where as strange as it was, no one left, and no
one entered it. It existed just as you and I did, breathing, living, and suffering. A scream escaped Rue s
lips, when she awoke from her dream, as her hollow gray eyes darted back and forth, confirming her
surroundings. Her arms ached from a memory of excessive pain from being beaten by her father in the
dark basement of her large home. She was beaten for being smart, silly, or kind with her friends she
had made, years ago. She wanted to be an author, but her father thought otherwise, and gave much
disapprobation towards her. He wanted her to become business woman. In fact, it was all she could
remember from her childhood, and now as a 17 year old girl, she lives with her mom who has the
starting stages of alzheimer s disease. Rue slipped out the habiliments of her bed, and made her way
through the labyrinth of her home, to the bathroom. The wall were draped with red velvet arabesque
tapestries, and the floors were always furnished. She went out to school that cold morning, tucking her
dyed blue hair behind her ears. In class, she was bullied by Korra and Alex, for being timid and quiet.
In math class, Korra stole her notes, and threw them out the window. She even accidently spilled
drinks on Rue s clothes. During all this, Rue never said a word, she stayed as always hunched over,
seemingly lifeless, until Alex started flirting with Eden. Whenever Eden was around, her dull face
would light up, and cheeks began to glow. He d always read stories to her, whenever they would hang
out, which made her feel like someone else, that she could be someone else. However all she could do
was suppress the tears that began to leak out her eyes, when she sees Eden kiss Alex s cheek. Rue didn
t have the power or strength to fight for what she truly wanted in life. She truly believed that she was
meant to suffer. Once school ended, Rue began her journey back home, taking small steps with her
petite feet. A familiar voice filled with great piquancy called for her saying, Hey! Rue, wait, I have a

butterflies represented their souls. They had a meaning. The butterflies were supposedly a message of
hope, that despite the fact that they would be dead before long, their souls would not die. Just like how

Family Structures And Family Structure Essay
1. In her book The Unfinished Revolution, Kathleen Gerson argues that today, family pathways are
more important than family structure. In this context, family structure refers to the organization of a
family, and the way that it has been changing as a result of the gender revolution. For example, some
nontraditional family structures that are explored in the book include double parent families with both
parents earning, single parent families (mostly single mothers), and families with same sex parents.
Gerson argues that while family structures are not negligible, it is family pathways that are more
important for the children of the gender revolution. That is to say, the children value the dynamics of
their family more than the structure. They are more concerned about how well their parents are able to
provide them with the necessary emotional and financial support than they are about how well their
families follow a norm. For them, it is more about feeling like they re part of a family rather than just
physically being in one. Gerson emphasizes this when she explains that the people she interviewed
focused on the long term consequences of parental choices, not on the specific form or type of home
these choices produced at any one moment in time. One important implication of this argument is the
way in which the children of the gender revolution imagine their own romantic relationships
unfolding. Even there, they prioritize a feeling rather than a format. For example, one

Smoking in movies is associated with adolescent and young adult smoking initiation. Public health
efforts to eliminate smoking from films accessible to youth have been countered by defenders of the

Both the entertainment and tobacco industries recognised the high value of promotion of tobacco

Product and brand exposure in films is the result of paid product placement, the provision of free
products as props, or personal use by actors. Product placement implies a mutually beneficial
relationship between the filmmaker and the manufacturer of the product. Initial contact may be made
by the filmmaker seeking to reduce costs, increase income, and provide realism or it may be made by
product placement firms seeking product exposure for companies they represent. Product placement
firms have evolved over the last two decades to broker relationships between filmmakers and
corporations. The usual procedure is for the product placement firm to receive scripts in advance of
production from filmmakers and review the scripts for the possible use of products they represent.

4.5 Explain The Importance Of The Study
4.5 Explain the importance of following disciplinary and grievance processes. Employers have to be
extremely careful in the way that they handle grievances. . If problems arise, the procedure that the
employer adopted may be subject to close scrutiny by the employment tribunal. It is important that
you follow the ACAS code of practice on disciplinary and grievance procedures. This code provides
helpful guidance for handling grievances. Failure to comply with the Acas code will not automatically
result in an employee being successful in an employment tribunal claim. However, if the employee is
successful in their claim and the employer failed to follow the code, it can result in an increase of up

Essential Security Protocol Verification Techniques
COMPUTER SECURITY
INTRODUCTION
This paper is going to look at two essential security protocol verification techniques namely:
i. Strand Space Protocol Analyser. ii. NRL Protocol Analyser.
The structure and operation of each protocol will be discussed. Usage, strengths and weaknesses,
problems and issues, pros and cons will all be highlighted. Finally, a comparison of the two protocols
will be conducted to justify the selection of a preferred security protocol verification.
Strand Space Protocol
Strand space protocol is a framework model for designing and verification of cryptographic protocols.
It is considered to be a local behavior of a single session of a particular protocol. The strand space
model operates on two additions for a fair ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Court Cases In Macy s Case
1 First of all, yes we would seek preliminary injunction on behalf of the plaintiff for the following
reasons. To demonstrate, the preliminary injunction which means a temporary order commanding a
party to act or refrain from acting that is issued prior to; or during trial in order to prevent irreparable
injury from occurring before the case is decided. In the present case, the defendant breached the
contract and violated his duty by not delivering the parts to the plaintiff. In the contract a clause states
that failure to deliver these parts would constitute irreparable harm should US Auto seek to have a
court enter an injunction directing the Italian company to provide the parts. For this reason, the
plaintiff has the contractual right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, the likelihood of success means the court will only need to find that there is a reasonable
probability that our case will win, based on the facts and the rules that we will apply on the case. To
illustrate, the plaintiff always done his obligation as stated in the contract by sending the cost of the
parts to the defendant. While the defendant breached this contract by refusing to send the parts to the
plaintiff without any reasonable cause. Further, the defendant shows bad faith by sending the parts to
other costumers who paid less than the plaintiff. Second, irreparable harm defines as any harm which
cannot be quantified or compensated with monetary damages, and which may justify injunctive relief.
Here, the plaintiff can not repair their cars without those parts which supposed to be delivered by the
defendant; which cause a substantial economic loose to the plaintiff. The breach of the contract by the
defendant caucus clear irreparable harm to the plaintiff regardless of the availability of those parts in
other companies. Finally, the balance of the equities means that the injury on the plaintiff side is
weighty harm than to the defendant through the injunction. And as long as there is a contract between
the parties the court will look to the contractual rights. As we state before, the defendant violated and
breached the contract while the plaintiff

ITS BACKGROUND 1.1 Introduction Mobile phones have become very popular in recent years and
their development has been amazing. It is no wonder why they have become irreplaceable. With all
applications which go with them they have gained a huge popularity with the people nowadays
especially the teenagers. A mobile phone (also known as a cellular phone, cell phone and a hand

In addition, not possessing mobile phone/s is higher in the age bracket 15 16 year olds when compared
to 13 14 olds. The spread of mobile communication among teenagers has been markedly rapid during
the latter half of the 1990s. Young people have created and developed a communication culture that
incorporates many special features, such as a rise in the use of text based communication channels.
Teenagers intersecting and selective use of communication channels has generated multimedia
communication. From the theoretical standpoint provided by symbolic interactions, we can ask
whether communication through new media technologies generates new forms of social interaction. If
this is the case, how could we describe and analyze these new forms of interaction? The media
landscapes created by teenagers serve to articulate their personal space, as well as enabling their
presentation of self and defining their relationships to others. The quality of sleep of almost half of 16
year olds may be affected by text messaging on mobile phones, a study from Belgium says. The sleep
of one in four 13 year olds could be affected too, says the researchers, who looked at the effects of text
messaging on sleep interruption in teenagers (Journal of Sleep Research (2003:12:263). In the

Robin Budowski
Current Situation: In 2016, Robin Budowski has almost acquired Château d Agel a previously
unprofitable wine property in the South West of France. However, his dream of owning and running a
vineyard does come with its own financial and operational risks. Robin may be the best candidate for
this acquisition opportunity, but to make it worthwhile in the next 5 to 7 year time horizon, he has to
decide which wine market he should focus his resources on, and how his wine can be effectively
distributed across France and exported to foreign developing markets.
The Wine Market: As of 2016, the global wine market shrunk by 7.6 percent, to generate $319,816

(See exhibit B). Craft beer, whiskey, and spirits are unfortunately stealing most customer segments,
and are experiencing strong growth. (Wine Enthusiast, 2016). All s not lost as millennials have shown
an increasing interest to taste various wine flavours from across the world. (The Fix, 2016). This gives
wine producers an opportunity to invest in product innovation to capture this younger market s
interest. Today, millennials consume more costly wine than their parents do. (The Fix, 2016).
Evidently, price does not yet have a strong influence on their wine selection. In support of this, a
survey conducted by Nielsen data indicated that 17 percent of this young demographic spends over
$20 per wine bottle in one month this percentage is larger than the boomers and generation Xers. (The
Fix, 2016). In addition, female drinkers are now responsible for 56 percent of the overall wine
consuming population due to their buying power. (Wine Enthusiast, 2016).
Moving on to global consumers, The CEO of Luxury Institute stated that, Consumers are purchasing
wine at higher volumes because they enjoy the restaurant and at home dining experiences that include
a great quality wine. (Luxury Daily, 2016). An implication of this quality preference is that restaurants
have seen a decrease in sales of wine priced at $8 a bottle or lower while higher priced wine is more
popular. (Cheers Online, 2016). Now, the average cost of wine in

Pros For The Advancement Of Technology
Technology has the ability to make everyday life more convenient, provide more entertainment
options and bring information from your fingertips to your eyes in a matter of seconds. The list of pros
for the advancement of technology is almost endless and the cons may not be as large. Depending on
your parenting style, the pros and cons could be switched around for those families. While the
advantages are numerous the disadvantages and dangers can be just as long. Some of those dangers
include pornography, racist propaganda, child predators and violent material just to name a few.
Without taking an active role in a child s online activities they could be set up for numerous and
dangerous situations for not only them, but their families as well. Without proper interaction from
adults children are at a greater risk of being exposed to inappropriate material.
Luckily, there are plenty of resources available for parents to use to safeguard their children when it
comes to online activities. One of the biggest things that all parents can do to ensure they make the
internet safe is to be involved with online activities. Unfortunately, not all parents know how to use
these resources to protect their kids while online or they simply choose to do nothing and expect their
kids to do the right thing. Parents may unknowingly put too much faith into software that is designed
to protect kid s internet browsing by scanning websites for predefined characteristics that are

Essay on The Drug Enforcement Administration
Origin of the Agency
The Drug Enforcement Administration has a long history that marks its significance and succession.
Much had been going on during the late nineteen sixties and early seventies that shaped the years
between such as: the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., the Hippie movement, the closing days
of the Vietnam War, the disbandment of the Beatles, Woodstock, the first man on the moon, and the
beginning of the Watergate scandal (to name a few). President Richard Nixon took office in 1968, a
time which was prevalent for ending the war in Vietnam and the violence across the United States due
to anti war and race riots.

Nixon began to compose and organize new ideas in order to control and resolve the rapid increase in
drug use. In doing so, the Office of Drug Abuse Law Enforcement (ODALE) was created on January
28th, 1972 which marked the beginning steps to creating the DEA ( Drug Enforcement Administration
6). The main purpose in enacting ODALE was to effectively manage and decrease the buying and
selling of heroin on the streets. The success of ODALE aided in diminishing and handling street drug
dealers and prompted the establishment of the DEA.
An executive order titled, Reorganization Plan No. 2, which was created and signed by President
Richard Nixon in 1973 was a reorganization plan that merged the Drug Abuse Law Enforcement, the
Office of National Narcotics Intelligence, US customs, and other federal offices to create a single
federal agency under the Department of Justice ( Drug Enforcement Administration 13). The
Reorganization Plan No. 2 was heard and adopted by congress and put into action as the presently
known Drug Enforcement Administration.
The Nature of Agency s Work Role
There were many anticipated goals and benefits from the establishment of the DEA. The main concern
of Nixon when implementing the DEA was to alleviate drug use and violence that it commenced but
there were many more advantages to creating the DEA. Some of these advantages which were

A Brief Note On Poverty And Its Effects On The United States
2. Poverty
In 2013 more than half of the Honduran population lived below the poverty line, with six out of ten
rural families living in extreme poverty. Honduras also ranked among the most unequal countries in
the region, and its middle class was among the smallest in LAC. Low levels of economic inclusion,
limited social mobility, and the extreme vulnerability of lower income households to a wide range of
shocks have made poverty in Honduras especially deep and intractable. Over the past 15 years more
and more Hondurans have left the country to seek opportunities abroad, particularly in the US, and
due to years of large scale migration Honduras now has one of the world s highest levels of
remittances as a share of GDP. Although remittances have enormous potential to reduce poverty and
increase incomes among households in the lower 40 percent of the income distribution, emerging
evidence suggests that they may also be causing Dutch Disease effects, as well as draining the country
s human capital stock and potentially discouraging labor force participation among domestic workers.
These dynamics have had significant effects on poverty trends. Remittances, together with labor
income and employment, have been the main drivers of shifting poverty levels over the last decade.
Cash transfers have had a positive impact on extreme poverty and social indicators, but their scope is
very limited compared with similar programs elsewhere in the region. While structural reforms and

Proposed Merger Between Staples And Office Depot
Anticompetitive Effects and Price Effects: Proposed Merger between Staples and Office Depot (1997)
Xueqi Ji 6252074952 Abstract FTC employed structural, documentary, statistical, econometrics and
financial evidence to verify that the proposed merger of Staples and Office Depot will lead to increase
in market concentration, market prices and stock prices, and thus support FTC s contention that this
merger will cause an anticompetitive effect on Office Superstore market. Staples and Office Depot
made a plain and useless contradiction. Finally, the Court announced to agree with FTC, and granted a
preliminary injunction on this merger. This paper mainly focuses on FTC s evidence and analysis.

Staples (2006), Orley Ashenfelter, David Ashmore, Johnathon B. Baker, Suzanne Gleason and Daniel
S. Hosken leveraged extensive public record to provide a detailed discussion of the econometric
models used in this merging case and to show how differences between the models led to the
discrepancy between these estimates. FTC claimed that based on various analysis and evidence,
proposed merger between Staples and Office Depot will harm competition in office superstore chain
market and raise market price which will lessen customers welfare. Nevertheless, two parties of
merger casted doubt on every detailed statement, and interpreted that this merger will reduce costs,
broaden scale of economies, improve economic efficiency, and optimize resource allocation, and then
lower market price efficiently. Finally, the Court chose to agree with FTC s contention. II.Background

Marx s The Capitalist System
Marx believed that the capitalist system causes the world s wealth to be concentrated in the hands of
the greedy few, inflicting an even bigger gap between the rich and the working class. Needless to say
there is always going to be never ending tensions between these two classes, especially since our
society has been split between the 99% of the working class and the 1% of the privileged people
getting richer every single day. When there are no principles of order and no boundaries of rules, the
free market is able to produce more than what the capitalist can sell. However, when too much of one
product is made, the value and the demand of the product decreases, showing red flags of what Marx s
calls a period of overproduction. It concludes that the supply is greater than the demand, creating a
cost instead of a profit for the capitalist since that have to sell what they overproduced. Regardless of
this, it is important to know that overproduction isn t seen as a problem for the rest world unless they
are the owners of the means of production the capitalist class because it only matters in the concept of
profit. The reason behind it as described earlier is if too much was produced and the demand isn t as
high, profit would decrease due to the unbalance of the equation. It makes more sense in Marx s words
which he states, So long as the most urgent needs of a large part of society are not satisfied, or only
the most immediate needs are satisfied, there can of course be

Frederick Douglass was arguably the most prominent African American abolitionist during the mid

concerning her added involvement in abolitionism in Frederick Douglass Paper. In this letter Douglass
directly, under his own name, praises Uncle Tom s Cabin as a useful tool in the fight for abolitionism.
He writes, I desire to express, dear Madam, my deep sense of the value of the services which you have

littler planes are only a couple of the measures aircrafts are taking to trim expenses with expectations
of reinforcing the main issue. This implies much longer holds up, more knock flights, and more awful

Radio Network Performance For Indoor Cellular Systems
Radio Network Performance for Indoor Cellular Systems Keshav Kumar Bollu (M547X932) Abstract
Indoor wireless systems with cellular technology provides good coverage and high capacity with great
potential if a large number of small radio ports are connected to a centralized radio network controller.
Various radio network solutions are investigated based on this approach. Architecture of a base station
sub system (BSS) is presented and the proposed BSS is based on a distributed architecture. The cost
economical solution for indoor wireless deployment is presented that meets indoor capacity need and
provides good indoor coverage. Antenna hopping is done, which transmits information continuously
on different antennas. The Radio Resource ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High traffic capacity is achieved with smaller cells and microcell systems which cover downtown
hotspot areas. Microcells are characterized by lower antenna heights and lower power levels when
compared with ordinary macrocells and hence offer high outdoor traffic capacity but low indoor
coverage. Thus an indoor system should supply better coverage and high capacity simultaneously.
These needs are fulfilled by using a large number of small radio ports into the cellular system. Several
solutions are available to increase the system capacity: frequency reuse by reducing the cell size,
dynamic resource allocation, slow frequency hopping, hierarchical cells etc. The transmission link
performance is a key property of a wireless communication system as it determines the coverage of
the system. An improvement of the transmission link performance provides a cost effective way of
increasing capacity by allowing reuse of tighter channel. A method of improving the transmission link
performance of a wireless communication system is discussed here. These needs are satisfied by
arranging a huge number of small radio ports to the existing cellular system. Spot coverage is
provided for those areas which are hard or impossible to cover with the outdoor cells. The radio ports
transmit with very low power for a small coverage area and keeping the generated interference low.
The reuse of traffic channels between the small areas covered by the radio ports can possibly be very
frequent

  • 2. Warrior Gene Influence Human Behavior In today s society, violence occurs every minute somewhere in some shape or form. It continues to be a plague that causes humans humility, pain, and death. Both the scientific and criminal justice fields have been stumped for years by the question of where does the influence of violence come from? Nature versus nurture has always been one of the most prevalent arguments relating to this topic. The nature argument is based on the belief that an individual s biology/DNA contributes to their behavior, where the nurture argument believes that the environment one is exposed to is what actually influences their behavior. According to Hickey, biological positivism was the method of applying the scientific method to the task of determining who was a criminal (48). Criminologists such as Franz Joseph Gall and Cesare Lombroso were among the first to propose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Advances in technology within the fields of medicine and biology have allowed researchers to investigate deepen into why humans behave the way they do. The issue that is of interest these days is the study of the Warrior Gene. There is debate on whether or not the Warrior Gene has an influence on an individual s behavior and if it can be used to determine if someone will commit criminal acts. On one side you have those that claim the warrior gene can be related to aggressive and violent behavior. In fact, humans with a low activity form of the MAOA (Monoamine Oxidase A, or the warrior gene) gene are much more prevalent in groups with a history of warfare (Hickey 49). The opposition claims nature and nurture are inexplicably linked and that there is always an environmental component to human behavior (Hickey 49). The question is, does a warrior gene make people more prone to violence? I will summarize the yes and no sides of the argument while also providing my own opinion on the ... • 3. Lack Of Schools In Schools Essay Lack of Schools for Girls When you walk through the streets and enter into the houses of the village, you will notice boys and girls from the same family and parents but with a big difference between their lives. You will see the boy with ultimate freedom and many options to live the kind of life that he wants but to the other side you will face a girl with a desperate and hopeless smile with many wishes and dreams that are always wishes for her. Instead of having pen and books in her hand, she is doing all the type of hard and physical work all her life. She is always silent and powerless against the harsh rules of life. Furthermore, when it comes to the rest of her life. She cannot select the partner of her life with whom she spends the rest of her life. She never had a book in her hand or learned in school, to know that how she can have her freedom and can chose whatever she wants for herself. She never went to school and learned that how powerful she is and what big things she can do. That is the kind of life that a girl has in province of Wardak, Afghanistan. Lack of girls school is a big problem in the Wardak, Afghanistan, and in order to solve it religious leaders and seniors of the province, and government can have a big role. • 4. What Is The Difference Between Congress And Us Elections The legislature in the U.S. and the U.K. differ in some pretty important ways. First, in regards to Parliament, the entire legislature is dissolved at least once every five years, and new elections are held for every seat. In the United States, Representatives and Senators are elected based on term lengths instead. Second, in the UK, the House of Commons is mostly the only house in Parliament that gets elected directly by the people. This is different from Congress because, in the US, both the House and the Senate are elected. The Legislative process itself also differs markedly between Congress and Parliament. In the U.S, legislation must pass in the same form through both houses of Congress before it can be sent to the President s desk. Either ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is probably due to the fact that the House of Commons is the one that the people show up to vote for. Currently there are 650 members of the House of Commons (). Elections for these seats are held based on something called constituencies. These are based on geographical features, local government boundaries, land area and population ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 5). The average population of a constituency is about 68,500 people ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 5). These seats are all vacated at least once every five years, and new elections are held to fill them. Interestingly, elections in the United Kingdom tend to be a very different type of event than the elections we are used to here in the states. General election campaigns typically only last about three weeks ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6) The amount of money that parties can spend on elections is restricted based on the number of candidates it puts up, and currently sits at 19.77 million for a party that contests all the seats in the House of Commons ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6). Paid political advertising on both radio and television is not allowed, and television coverage of elections is required to be impartial ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6). This is a vastly different political atmosphere than the one we are used to in the United States, where elections are huge events that result in the spending of billions of dollars in a particular election cycle ( Election, ... • 6. Armageddon In Retrospect Kurt Vonnegut Analysis How can the view of a humanist change our perspective of World War II? Kurt Vonnegut, author of Armageddon in Retrospect, did just that. From the viewpoint of a humanist that was a part of World War II, I realized there was more to the war than just fighting. Vonnegut is able to tell nonfiction and fiction short stories that give a different perspective and causes the reader to think deeper about the war. Up until now, most, if not all, of the pieces I have read about World War II have been from either a victim of the war or someone in the military, but not a humanist. Humanists want what is best for everyone and want everyone to work together to agree. This is a different viewpoint because when I think of World War II, I do not imagine the Axis working or agreeing with the Allies. I never stopped to think that someone could be fighting in the war, but not agree with what they were doing, such as killing civilians. Through experiencing World War II first hand, Vonnegut makes different conclusions, reaches contrasting perspectives, and shows humanistic viewpoints throughout his short stories. Vonnegut reaches conclusions about the war that are different than others. After reading some of Armageddon in Retrospect, it seems that Vonnegut has a personal perspective to the war. He feels sorrow and regret for the killings of people. Vonnegut is a humanist, so he behaves well and does not expect consequences in the Afterlife. Him being a humanist is the reason he reaches certain conclusions about the war. For example, in Wailing Shall Be in All Streets, Vonnegut mentions that he would have rather saved Dresden and everyone should feel the same as him about all the cities on Earth. I interpret his conclusion of the war as him thinking it was not necessary to kill many civilians, particularly women and children. This shows that he wants to do good for people and he believes everyone should want to do the same, which seems like what humanists want. Vonnegut s conclusions are different than other readings, such as Stimson s. Stimson, Secretary of War, talked about the United Nations succeeding due to providence, meaning they won because God wanted them to win. He ended by saying that they would ... • 7. Questions On The Theoretical Lens Jesus F. Garcia 6/15/2015 Midterm Question 1 Part A Theoretical lens refers to a set of assumptions made, that are composed of factors such as past experiences, cultural background, and religion. This concept can be problematic when a society attempts to assume the way things will be and turn out to be unexpected. Dennis Phillips explains, people often learn to understand things based on the set of theories and belies with which they were raised. (Seminar 1, June 1) In child development, theoretical lens of developing countries can ultimately hurt the way a society views the progress of its future generations. Additionally, outcomes that are outside of the theoretical lens are often rejected, which can cause distress to those individuals who are not conforming to these expectations. Different countries have different assumptions about how the world works and the role that each individual plays in it. These individuals, such as children, across the globe have different expectations from society based on the region s theoretical lens. For example the main issues facing young people in India will be the school versus work, the tradition of early arranged marriages, the caste system, and the rights of women. (Gielen, 2004) The expectations of Indian culture are completely different from those found in the United States for young people. The culture difference is key in how new generations will develop in accordance to societies expectations. A young person in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Rate Of Gross Domestic Product And Unemployment The relationship between rate of Gross Domestic Product and Unemployment Of an economy The economic power of an economy is what truly enables it to be a global ruler; furthermore a strong economy means the people are employed, successful and thriving. The best way to measure the economy s current health is to just take a look at their Gross domestic production and unemployment rate. A strong economy stands for global dominance and influence, resulting in high standards of living, decreased unemployment, and prevention from recessions, depressions and also lower the risk of inflation but is there a link between the gross domestic product and unemployment that plays a role in all this? And how does this effect the well being of an economy, also why was the Canadian recession of 2008 a proof of this direct but opposite link of GDP and unemployment. Now to connect the dots, it s easy to put out all these terms but not actually understand how they are related well the growth of GDP means there is more demand of products and if there is demand, companies need workers to make those products, hence there is lesser unemployment and the economy is growing and production rate is also increasing. If the rate growth is constantly decreasing with lesser demand and there is constant lower economic activity then the economy goes into recession. To further elaborate these concepts, Gross domestic product stands for the total economic activity of a nation, it means the monetary value of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This adoption is not readily accepted by the older brother, Hindley, who sees the new child as a rival to his claim of dominance in the family. Heathcliff overhears this conversation between Nelly and Catherine and leaves Wuthering Heights after hearing Catherine say that it would degrade her to marry him. Heathcliff tries to make himself more presentable to Catherine by moving up the social system. However, he does this by cheating and taking advantage of people. Heathcliff takes advantage of Hindley s state of alcoholism and takes over Wuthering Heights. Heathcliff also takes advantage of Edgar Linton s will my making young Catherine (the daughter of Catherine Earnshaw and Edgar Linton) marry Linton (the son of Heathcliff and Isabella Linton) so he could acquire Thrushcross Grange (where Edgar Linton lives). • 10. The Canterbury Tales And The Pardoner s Tale In the late 1300s Geoffrey Chaucer wrote The Canterbury Tales, a story which follows the religious journey of twenty nine people, who represent many aspects of Medieval society, to the Canterbury Cathedral in southeast England. While on the pilgrimage the host of the tavern, where all the pilgrims meet, suggests that the pilgrims each tell a story for the group s entertainment. Chaucer intended for all the voyagers to tell two stories, but he unfortunately died before he could finish the book and only got to write one story apiece. However, the goal of the storytelling contest is to tell the most moral story possible, and the one who wins receives a free meal, which the rest of the pilgrims will pay for. Although some of the other stories have good moral messages, The Pardoner s Tale and The Wife of Bath s Tale are on different ends of the moral spectrum. The Pardoner s Tale focuses on a pardoner who preaches against greed. While The Wife of Bath s Tale exemplifies what all women want in their relationships: power. Although both The Pardoner s Tale and The Wife of Bath s Tale demonstrate the value of the opinion of elders, the stories differ in their moral values and their storyteller s values. In The Pardoner s Tale a group of revelrous men seek revenge after Death kills their friend. While on the hunt for Death, the men find an old man, who has found Death, but Death has not taken the man yet. The three brutes ask the man where to find Death, and he sends ... I will tell you a story that takes place in a particular town, where as strange as it was, no one left, and no one entered it. It existed just as you and I did, breathing, living, and suffering. A scream escaped Rue s lips, when she awoke from her dream, as her hollow gray eyes darted back and forth, confirming her surroundings. Her arms ached from a memory of excessive pain from being beaten by her father in the dark basement of her large home. She was beaten for being smart, silly, or kind with her friends she had made, years ago. She wanted to be an author, but her father thought otherwise, and gave much disapprobation towards her. He wanted her to become business woman. In fact, it was all she could remember from her childhood, and now as a 17 year old girl, she lives with her mom who has the starting stages of alzheimer s disease. Rue slipped out the habiliments of her bed, and made her way through the labyrinth of her home, to the bathroom. The wall were draped with red velvet arabesque tapestries, and the floors were always furnished. She went out to school that cold morning, tucking her dyed blue hair behind her ears. In class, she was bullied by Korra and Alex, for being timid and quiet. In math class, Korra stole her notes, and threw them out the window. She even accidently spilled drinks on Rue s clothes. During all this, Rue never said a word, she stayed as always hunched over, seemingly lifeless, until Alex started flirting with Eden. Whenever Eden was around, her dull face would light up, and cheeks began to glow. He d always read stories to her, whenever they would hang out, which made her feel like someone else, that she could be someone else. However all she could do was suppress the tears that began to leak out her eyes, when she sees Eden kiss Alex s cheek. Rue didn t have the power or strength to fight for what she truly wanted in life. She truly believed that she was meant to suffer. Once school ended, Rue began her journey back home, taking small steps with her petite feet. A familiar voice filled with great piquancy called for her saying, Hey! • 18. Family Structures And Family Structure Essay 1. In her book The Unfinished Revolution, Kathleen Gerson argues that today, family pathways are more important than family structure. In this context, family structure refers to the organization of a family, and the way that it has been changing as a result of the gender revolution. For example, some nontraditional family structures that are explored in the book include double parent families with both parents earning, single parent families (mostly single mothers), and families with same sex parents. Gerson argues that while family structures are not negligible, it is family pathways that are more important for the children of the gender revolution. That is to say, the children value the dynamics of their family more than the structure. They are more concerned about how well their parents are able to provide them with the necessary emotional and financial support than they are about how well their families follow a norm. For them, it is more about feeling like they re part of a family rather than just physically being in one. Gerson emphasizes this when she explains that the people she interviewed focused on the long term consequences of parental choices, not on the specific form or type of home these choices produced at any one moment in time. One important implication of this argument is the way in which the children of the gender revolution imagine their own romantic relationships unfolding. Even there, they prioritize a feeling rather than a format. For example, one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Product placement firms have evolved over the last two decades to broker relationships between filmmakers and corporations. The usual procedure is for the product placement firm to receive scripts in advance of production from filmmakers and review the scripts for the possible use of products they represent. Normally this involves substituting a specific brand for a generic brand that is, instead of John meets Mary at a coffeehouse , John might meet Mary at Curt s Coffee. • 31. A Brief Note On Poverty And Its Effects On The United States 2. Poverty In 2013 more than half of the Honduran population lived below the poverty line, with six out of ten rural families living in extreme poverty. Honduras also ranked among the most unequal countries in the region, and its middle class was among the smallest in LAC. Low levels of economic inclusion, limited social mobility, and the extreme vulnerability of lower income households to a wide range of shocks have made poverty in Honduras especially deep and intractable. Over the past 15 years more and more Hondurans have left the country to seek opportunities abroad, particularly in the US, and due to years of large scale migration Honduras now has one of the world s highest levels of remittances as a share of GDP. Although remittances have enormous potential to reduce poverty and increase incomes among households in the lower 40 percent of the income distribution, emerging evidence suggests that they may also be causing Dutch Disease effects, as well as draining the country s human capital stock and potentially discouraging labor force participation among domestic workers. These dynamics have had significant effects on poverty trends. Remittances, together with labor income and employment, have been the main drivers of shifting poverty levels over the last decade. Cash transfers have had a positive impact on extreme poverty and social indicators, but their scope is very limited compared with similar programs elsewhere in the region. While structural reforms and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Staples (2006), Orley Ashenfelter, David Ashmore, Johnathon B. Baker, Suzanne Gleason and Daniel S. Hosken leveraged extensive public record to provide a detailed discussion of the econometric models used in this merging case and to show how differences between the models led to the discrepancy between these estimates. FTC claimed that based on various analysis and evidence, proposed merger between Staples and Office Depot will harm competition in office superstore chain market and raise market price which will lessen customers welfare. Nevertheless, two parties of merger casted doubt on every detailed statement, and interpreted that this merger will reduce costs, broaden scale of economies, improve economic efficiency, and optimize resource allocation, and then lower market price efficiently. Finally, the Court chose to agree with FTC s contention. • 36. Marx s The Capitalist System Marx believed that the capitalist system causes the world s wealth to be concentrated in the hands of the greedy few, inflicting an even bigger gap between the rich and the working class. Needless to say there is always going to be never ending tensions between these two classes, especially since our society has been split between the 99% of the working class and the 1% of the privileged people getting richer every single day. When there are no principles of order and no boundaries of rules, the free market is able to produce more than what the capitalist can sell. However, when too much of one product is made, the value and the demand of the product decreases, showing red flags of what Marx s calls a period of overproduction. It concludes that the supply is greater than the demand, creating a cost instead of a profit for the capitalist since that have to sell what they overproduced. Regardless of this, it is important to know that overproduction isn t seen as a problem for the rest world unless they are the owners of the means of production the capitalist class because it only matters in the concept of profit. The reason behind it as described earlier is if too much was produced and the demand isn t as high, profit would decrease due to the unbalance of the equation. It makes more sense in Marx s words which he states, So long as the most urgent needs of a large part of society are not satisfied, or only the most immediate needs are satisfied, there can of course be ... In this letter Douglass directly, under his own name, praises Uncle Tom s Cabin as a useful tool in the fight for abolitionism. He writes, I desire to express, dear Madam, my deep sense of the value of the services which you have already rendered my afflicted and persecuted people, by the publication of your inimitable book on the subject of slavery. That contribution to our bleeding cause, alone, involves us in a debt of gratitude which cannot be measured . . . . (Douglass) . Radio Network Performance For Indoor Cellular Systems Radio Network Performance for Indoor Cellular Systems Keshav Kumar Bollu (M547X932) Abstract Indoor wireless systems with cellular technology provides good coverage and high capacity with great potential if a large number of small radio ports are connected to a centralized radio network controller. Various radio network solutions are investigated based on this approach. Architecture of a base station sub system (BSS) is presented and the proposed BSS is based on a distributed architecture. The cost economical solution for indoor wireless deployment is presented that meets indoor capacity need and provides good indoor coverage. Antenna hopping is done, which transmits information continuously on different antennas. The Radio Resource ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... High traffic capacity is achieved with smaller cells and microcell systems which cover downtown hotspot areas. Microcells are characterized by lower antenna heights and lower power levels when compared with ordinary macrocells and hence offer high outdoor traffic capacity but low indoor coverage. Thus an indoor system should supply better coverage and high capacity simultaneously. These needs are fulfilled by using a large number of small radio ports into the cellular system. Several solutions are available to increase the system capacity: frequency reuse by reducing the cell size, dynamic resource allocation, slow frequency hopping, hierarchical cells etc. The transmission link performance is a key property of a wireless communication system as it determines the coverage of the system. An improvement of the transmission link performance provides a cost effective way of increasing capacity by allowing reuse of tighter channel. A method of improving the transmission link performance of a wireless communication system is discussed here. These needs are satisfied by arranging a huge number of small radio ports to the existing cellular system. Spot coverage is provided for those areas which are hard or impossible to cover with the outdoor cells. The radio ports transmit with very low power for a small coverage area and keeping the generated interference low. The reuse of traffic channels between the small areas covered by the radio ports can possibly be very frequent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
