Riding a wave of a new interest in fantasy and science fiction films with the success
of Star Wars, Richard Donner s Superman (1978), the first major big budget superhero

Self Assessment Empowering Others
Self Assessment: Empowering Others Delegation is the process of entrusting
work to others by giving them the right to make decisions and take action
(Schermerhorn Bachrach. 2015. p. 257). In this assignment, the self assessment of
Empowering Others was completed from the Management textbook and the
following will be a report of the self assessment interpretation (Schermerhorn
Bachrach. 2015. p. 262). Overview The assessment gives a rating on a series of nine
questions from 1 Strongly Disagree, to 5 Strongly Agree. The lower the score, the
more apt you are at being able to delegate to others. The overall score of my
assessment was a 29, which is about the midway point of the scale of 9 45. Zero

The time it takes to explain tasks to others and your co workers workload are
constantly at varying levels. The complexity of some tasks may require more time
explaining than what is allotted to complete task. In those cases, another time that
is more suitable should be planned to train the employee for future occasions. If
manpower usage is at its capacity, delegation of additional tasks would only strain
employee efficiency. Disagree Questions one, three and six question the employee
s skill level to complete the delegated task. I have always been willing to assign my
employees a new task, which is how they learn. Mistakes happen all the time, but
how each person deals with the issue is how they will grow professionally. The
success and failure of delegation sometimes fall on the support level of the manager.
Employees do not need micromanaged, although there should be regular status
updates with their manager to ensure the task is progressing to expectations.
Conclusion My work ethic supports the function of delegation within the means of
the department. Allocation of tasks to your employees conveys confidence and trust
which will lead to a self sufficient workforce. It also allows the team to be more
flexible to change since there will be more than one person within the department that

Montresor s Revenge
The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe tells a tale of treachery, intensity, and
revenge. Revenge is the focal point of the story; it plays a very significant role.
Montresor, the main character, plans his revenge in a very expert way. He does by
placing an importance on connoisseur ship, or being an expert, and he would not take
anything less than expert. Montresor defines this importance because he is a
connoisseur himself, of murder and deception, he makes his victim, Fortunato, act a
certain way, he makes sure there are no witnesses, and he does it all without getting
caught. Montresor begins to cater to Fortunato s weakness, his arrogance. Montresor
tells the great Fortunato that he has come across a precious wine, Amontillado,

1.1 Background of Study
The use, acceptance, adoption and application of internet technology to businesses to
boast their performances are not something new. Saffu et al., (2008), states that there
has been a significant increase in the use and application of e commerce in
businesses in the past decade. E commerce has benefits such as reduction in costs,
increased business opportunities, reduced lead time and providing more personalized
service to the customers (Turban et al., 2008). Internet banking or e banking is one of
the many tools of e commerce adopted by the banking industry. Tools of information
technology such as internet banking have significantly improved the quality of

The Physics Of Satellites Orbiting Earth
Satellites orbiting earth will experience external perturbations that can affect the
orbit. The primary force acting on the satellite depends on the altitude of the orbit.
The most significant effect is caused by atmospheric drag which affects satellites in
low earth orbit. Outside of low earth orbit, satellites still experience external forces
that could change the orbithowever unlike atmospheric drag, the orbit altitude will not
necessarily decrease. In addition to atmospheric drag, satellites are subject to thermal
drag and gravity perturbations.
Atmospheric Drag: (Author: Emma)
Atmospheric drag effects all spacecraft orbiting earth below 2,000 km, producing
both short periodic and slow perturbations. It is the is the largest source of error in
modeling the force on many satellites because it is difficult to predict [2].
Atmospheric drag is caused by the collisions of gas molecules with the spacecraft.
Over time, the collisions start to decay the orbit. Demonstrating a positive feedback
effect, where drag decreases the orbital altitude where the density is greater which
produces more drag which then decays quicker. Factors that influence drag are the
atmospheric drag surrounding the spacecraft, as well as the spacecrafts drag
coefficient, area, mass and velocity [1].
The atmospheric density is not constant and changes with solar activity. The solar
magnetic activity cycle is the periodic change in the sun s activity that lasts around 11
years. During solar maximum,

The Jesus Movement Occurred Within The Intertestamental
Era
The Jesus Movement occurred within the intertestamental era. The movement had
one foot in the past on the other in the future as this period emerged. Before
Christianity stepped out on its own, it was considered to be a sect of Judaism.
Hellenism acted as a veneer over the everyday life of Jews, but beneath that veneer,
the Jewish worldview dominated the Gospel, not pagan Hellenism (Eddy, 2014). The
claim that the Trinity is a Hellenistic pagan corruption of the early church was denied
by recent research. Early Christianitywas rooted in Jewish theological thought and
like Judaism, the new faith guarded its identity (Eddy, 2014).
One of the best kept secrets in the Christian church is the large role that women
played in the early church. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christian and secular writers credited women with the growth of the church (Krueger
and Kroger, 2012).
There is nothing inherent in the character of Christian ministry as it is presented in
the writings of the New Testament which would give reason for the exclusion of
women. On the contrary, the New Testament portrays Jesus treating women as equal
human beings. It also portrays women and men serving side by side in the various
ministries of the early church . . . According to the evidence, the exclusion of women
from ecclesiastical ministry is neither in accord with the teaching or practice of Jesus
with that of the first century church (Bacchiocchi, 1987).
Contrary to Rabbi ben Azariah s remark that Rather should the words of the Torah
be burned than entrusted to a woman . . . Whoever teaches his daughter the Torah
is like one who teaches her obscenities, the Holy Spirit was poured out on all the
disciples, men and women alike, on the Day of Pentecost (Bacchiocchi, 1987). Peter
quoted Joel to solidify that Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. . . and on
my menservants and my maidservants in those days I will pour out my Spirit (Acts
2:17 18). Maidservants meant that women had received the gift of the Holy Spirit
(Bacchiocchi, 1987).
Jesus was revolutionary in that he treated women and men as equals and violated
many Old Testament regulations and traditions that indicated gender inequality.
Robinson (2012) stated many examples of how Jesus treated women

the best business decision for the organization. These decisions included the merge
movement to allow NFA members to become FFA members. The Board of Directors
continues to meet three times a year and continue to help the National FFA officers

convention through the delegate vote. Even though in 1920 women gained the right
to vote through the passing of the ratification of the 19th amendment, the FFA was
still able to prevent female membership into the organization. It was not until four
years after the merger movement of the NFA and FFA that females gained full
membership privileges. Today, females represent more than 45 percent of FFA
members and roughly half of all state leadership positions. (The National FFA
The Adoption Of Building Information Modeling
1.0Introduction It has been recognised that it is common to have much higher real
construction costs than what was predicted at early design and plan phrase. Poor data
and information management as one of the major reasons causes costoverruns has
achieved $16 billion a year in US construction industry given by recent research
carried out by US NIST (2004). The adoption of Building Information Modeling
(BIM) was then suggested and encouraged by many expertise which has been proved
in many practical construction cases in the past that BIM would help to efficiently
reduce the information costs throughout the construction process. In this paper the
researcher will briefly introduce the background and development of BIM. The
relationship between BIM adoption and project cost saving in Architects, Engineering
and Construction (AEC) industry will also be analysed. Besides, this paper also aims
to discuss the potential impacts of the use of BIM on total duration and project costs
in construction industry. This is carried out through analysing and evaluating the
benefits and innovation of project process within BIM environment. Apart from that,
challenges associated with BIM technology and barriers that prevent people from
adopting BIM technology will be presented in the end. 2.0 The Origin of BIM With
the development of computer technology and much less costs, the adaptability of
BIM collaboration during the design process has been widely embraced by
construction industry.

Income and Expense Analysis
The profit and loss are able to reflect the financial performance of an enterprise. It is
undeniable that the accrual figures are essential for firms to analyse the financial
situations, however, our income statement is prepared on the cash basis and a
number of assumptions are made because Fungimental is a star up enterprise and it is
at the start stage. The forecast of budgeted income statement for Fungimental in 2016
2017 indicates that the company could maintain sustainable during the period and it
is able to gain the positive net income of $259,105.00 at the end of April 01 2017.
Nevertheless, on the basis of Fungimental (2016), a star up capital of $75,000.00 is
required to ensure the process.

Amending the Second Amendment
On December 12, 2013, a heavily armed man walked into a small elementary school
in Connecticut and opened fire, ending the lives of 26 children and teachers, not only
shattering the quiet of the small town but leaving our nation lurching at the number
of young lives lost. The horror of this event renewed people s passion on both sides
of the fiercely debated issue of gun control and brought the issue to the forefront of
American politics once again. While no new gun control laws have been passed since
this tragedy, the debate over how to interpret the 2nd amendment continues.
Gun control laws are the government s way of regulating the manufacture, sale,
transportation, possession, and use of firearms. In our world today, we face the vast
controversy of gun control and who should be able to possess a destructive firearm,
and under what conditions. These laws differ significantly around the world, and in
fact the laws in the United States vary by state. Supporters of strict gun laws argue
the dangers of allowing citizens broad rights to possess firearms. Opponents claim
that they wish to have a source of defense in their home, and also that certain
regulations may violate their individual rights. Gun control laws are protected by the
second amendment in the Bill of Rights, the right to bear arms. A well regulated
militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep
and bear arms, shall not be infringed. The bill guarantees Americans the

Motivation Essay
Describe, compare and contrast one process and one content theory of motivation.
Evaluate how appropriate they are for organisations today. Motivation is the desire
or willingness of someone to do something. Craig C. Pinder (1998) defined work
motivation as a set of internal and external forces that initiate work related behaviour
and determine its form, direction, intensity and duration. Motivation plays an
important role in a business environment, as employee motivation is believed to
improved work performance. Discussed in this essay are two types of motivation
theories; Content theory which tries to identify specific needs that motivate people

Similarly, evidence from research highlight that there are negative ways in which
workers can redress inequality; As seen in Organizational behaviour and Work,
Wilson, Fiona M, (2010), it highlights the ways in which individuals act negatively
towards inequity underpayment leads to lowered job performance (Prichard et al.,
1972; Lord and Hohenfeld, 1979). Another form of reaction to underpayment is
disruptive, deviant behaviour, such as vandalism and theft (Hollinger and Clark,
1983). Theft might be seen as a means to replenish feelings of underpayment inequity.
The Hawthrone Studies conducted by Elton Mayo between 1924 and 1932, showed
that employees are not just motivated by the money, outcomes, but their attitudes,
needs as well. Initiating the human relations approach to management and the needs
and motivation of employees was the primary concentre of managers. In short, both
Maslow and Adams theories can be considered Equity theories of motivation. In
some way, Equity Theory may seem more relatable to organisations today globally,
as equity is part of the human rights laws, as compared to Maslow s theory. Maslow
s theory is unmasked as ethnocentric by Geert Hofstede (1984), he stated, there are
cultural limitations in the
The Collapse Of The Third Reich Essay
Following the collapse of the Third Reich, Germany was facing an uncertain future.
It was divided amongst four nations with different ideas on how to handle the Nazis
who remained and what to do about the future. The Potsdam Agreement dictated
how the remains of Germany were to be divided amongst the United States, the
United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, and France. It also dictated that Nazi influences
were to be purged, with Nazi laws being repealed and war criminals put to trial and
punished for their actions.[1] In the American occupied zone, one of the major
projects undertaken by the United States government was to denazify their region.
Despite the denazification process being a major point of focus for the United
States, the process was slow, inconsistent, and poorly executed. As a whole, the
American attempt to denazify their German territory was a failure due to several
factors, most of which stemmed from the fact that the United States attempted to use
judicial systems to shape their ideal political system. They removed anyone in power
during the Third Reich from power, and set up a series of questionnaires and trials to
punish those with Nazi connections. The tribunal system was slow, inefficient, and
Americans and Germans had different ideas of how severe punishments should be.
As a result, a fraction of the perpetrators they wished to punish actually ended up
receiving any repercussions, those that did were not punished for years. Many

If the transaction is small, the store manager can pay for it out of an impress fund that
each store has. The store manager would then fax the information to F amp; A to be
manually entered into the system.
In my opinion, Kudler Fine Foods could benefit from a holistic Finance and
Accounting system that will allow for better compatibility with the company s other
systems. The current system has a module for each major function and each module
has to maintain compatibility with the other modules. If any upgrades or changes
were to be made on any of the other systems in the company, all of the separate
modules of the Finance and Accounting system would need to be compatible. This
means that there is a greater expense in upgrading or changing any other system in
the company because all systems must be connected to the F amp; A system. A
holistic system that can provide all of the necessary functions needed by the company
all in one program and streamline the process and minimize the costs of upgrading
systems anywhere in the company. In the long run, it would be less costly to first
upgrade the Finance and Accounting system before any other systems are upgraded.
Then the other systems can be tailored around the Finance and Accounting system to
ensure compatibility and to unify the company s business systems. The alternative

things about the houses some similarities about the characters and differences etc.
Some differences about the house are that, when we start reading the book that lady

there was houses around the house like across the street because all of the bad things

The FBI believes that Apple should break into their own device to provide the

incredibly difficult. Apple would need to reengineer their software to create a

A Survey Of The Windshield Survey
Windshield Survey: Valdosta, Georgia Community health nurses have the
responsibility of assessing the community he or she will be working in to provide the
best care to the residents in the community and to gather this data the community
health nurse completes a windshield survey (Nies McEwen, 2015). The purpose of
this paper is to discuss the findings from the windshield survey completed in
Valdosta, Georgia. Direct Data While examining the community of Valdosta, Georgia
there were some common themes throughout the city. In this community there are
multiple grocery stores spaced throughout the city, such as Publix, Winn Dixie, and
Walmart. Even though there are quite a few grocery stores for people to buy food to

Most of the doctor offices in Valdosta are located close to the hospital. The city of
Valdosta has multiple types of specialty doctors, such as cardiologist, infectious
disease, urologist, and nephrologist. Furthermore, there are multiple nursing homes in
this community. Also, the community of Valdosta has multiple public schools. Some
of the public schools are in the Lowndes County School System, while others are a
part of the Valdosta City School System. The county schools look like they are kept
up better and have less signs of decay than the city schools. In addition to this
community having multiple schools, this community has many different churches
people can attend and on Sundays most of the church parking lots are full. Even
though there are some common themes throughout this community there are some
big differences. In the part of the community close to Moody Airforce base there is
mostly new neighborhoods made up of nice looking houses. When driving through
these neighborhoods in the middle of the day young kids are seen riding bikes
without helmets and playing in the middle of the road. Also, many young adults can
be seen walking or running around the neighborhoods. Additionally, there is a railroad
track that runs through some of these neighborhoods and there is no railroad arm or

Rise of Parliament
In the seventeenth century, the political power of the Parliament in England, and the
Monarchy in France increased greatly. These conditions were inspired by three major
changes: the aftermath ofthe reformation, the need for an increased governmental
financing, andthe reorganizing of central governments. These three points were
eachresolved in a different way in both England and in France. The first major point
which eventually increased political power wasthe aftermath of the Protestant
reformation. In England, after the establishmentof the separate Anglican church of
England there were manyprotestant groups left in England still in conflict. These
groups alltried to push and pull parliament in their favor... Show more content on

Britain Following the Treaty of Union in 1707 twin Acts of Parliament passed in,
respectively, the Parliament of England and the Parliament of Scotland created a new
Kingdom of Great Britain and dissolved both parliaments, replacing them with a new
Parliament of Great Britain based in the former home of the English parliament. Over
the centuries, the English Parliament progressively limited the power of the English
monarchy which arguably culminated in the English Civil War and the trial and
execution of Charles I in 1649. After the restoration of the monarchy under Charles II,
the supremacy of parliament was a settled principle and all future English and later
British sovereigns were restricted to the role of constitutional monarchs with limited
executive authority. The Act of Union 1707 merged the English Parliament with the
Parliament of Scotland to form the Parliament of Great Britain. When the Parliament
of Ireland was abolished in 1801, its former members were merged into what was
now called the Parliament of the United Kingdom. This makes the current Parliament
of the United Kingdom one of the oldest legislative bodies in the world. Due to the
history and influence of the British Empire, the British parliament has become a
model for many other national legislatures. This model is referred to as the
Westminster system because the UK Parliament
The Power Of Love In The Film Titanic
James Cameron film the Titanic (1997), is an epic romance fictionalized account of
the sinking of the RMS Titanic. One key theme associated with the film Titanic is
that Love is everlasting. The sinking of the Titanic was the dramatic story supporting
the overall theme of the film. Titanic is a love story that takes place on the famous
ship the RMS Titanic. Young, Rose is making her way back to America on the Titanic
with her mother and fiance, where she meets Jack Dawson. During the voyage,
despite their social status differences, Rose and Jack fall in love. Titanic also focuses
on the ill fated maiden voyage of the luxury liner that hit a huge iceberg and caused
thousands of people to drown. The film Titanic shows the power of selfless love and
survival, all of which are established through acting, design, and cinematography.
In the movie, love and romance are used since the central plot is the love story
between Jack and Rose. Romantic films often explore the essential themes of love
at first sight, forbidden love, and even sacrificial love. All three elements that were
practiced during the film. Rose was a troubled young woman living in a rich
society, engaged to a millionaire that her mother had sought out. She was residing
in a nightmare, a nightmare that she didn t want, and she was looking for a way
out. Jack saved Rose s life and was quickly pushed into her. Jack was the only one
that could see the pain that Rose had. He was the only one who could get her out of

He s had to go through extremely stressful scenarios to become the phenomenal
director he is today. In my opinion, the most important moment in his movie making
carrier was directing Jaws. That was the movie that started it all for Spielberg. When
he was assigned the job of directing the 1974 novel by Peter Benchley, Steven s
career was now recognized by big Hollywood studios. Very soon production
nightmares happened on the set of Jaws. Spielberg realized a very big problem,
We started the film without a script, without a cast and without a shark (Richard

mechanical shark used in the film would break due to the salt water so Spielberg
had to come up with interesting ways to not show it. That is why the movie rarely
shows the shark. The young director woke up every day fearing he

Max Weber was born in Erfurt, Thuringia in 1864 into a prominent and well off

and his mother was a house wife. He was brought up in an era after the world war I
where the dramatically changes pushed for industrial revolution.
Max took up law, but left it before time in life. He was never interested in the

Also because of this situation, people in the organisation will not be able to lead a
creative and happy life, as they would be forced to work in a highly rational society
with rigid rules and without able to change it.
Weber (1958) showed how this exact materialistic, individualist ethic was used to
develop effectiveness, productivity, wealth formation, and self interest. Weber s
challenge with most important contemporary management scholars, was to develop a
new approach to management and organization grounded in the teachings of new
prophets. The worth of such professionals for the organisation will depend on the
accumulation of knowledge and understanding that has generated skills, necessary for
the work in an organisation.
Management theory of Weber:
Weber professed many theories, a few are mentioned below:
Theory on Capitalism: In social capitalism, huge public institutions evened the
financial volatility of capitalist markets by sharing risk and reduced social instability
by creating group employment within their widespread lower rungs of the
organisations.
The charismatic leadership: According to Weber, the Charismatic leader is one who
is extraordinary, who appears only in chaotic times. He is not the officer or boss, but
rather from among the group. Thus, a charismatic leader emerges swiftly in times of
want, uncertainty or suffering.

Walking And The Suburbanized Psyche Summary
Walking is Fading
In the essay Walking and the Suburbanized Psyche, Solnit argues that human beings
are losing the ordinary connections between the body and the world is caused by the
advanced innovations that are being implemented. Walking has been part of human
culture since the time of the Homosapien. According to Solnit, if walking continues to
be devalued by our society, a lot of practical benefits and lifestyle will be gone.
Back in the days, many people treated walking as a pleasure when one person takes
another person out for a walk. It represents one of the cultural activities. Furthermore,
walking not only can be a delightful activity, it also serves as a transportation tool.

When I say walking is fading, I don t necessary mean no one ever walks. But what I
mean by that is there won t be as many pedestrians coming out to public space and
treat walking as a pleasure. People say that if we don t practice on thing, we will
eventually forgot about it and lost it, and so as walking.
From here on, I am going to illustrate my lifestyle in a rural area versus a well
developed city. I came from a small village in China. Walking to places has been
build on me since I was a little kid; it was one of my habit. Back in the days,
nothing seems handy to own. I remembered it was indeed hard to own a small
motorcycle, not to speak of cars. On account of that, I treasure walking gratefully. I
can walk to my school, relative s house, convenient stores, as well as markets for
food. That has been my lifestyle for ten years until I came to the United States. My
lifestyle has changed from walking to commuting through buses. San Francisco is a
fairly developed city. We can access to every part of SF through muni, and the buses
come in very often. Gradually, I start taking the bus to school, to hangouts with
friends, and restaurants. I don t remember when but I started to feel and think buses
are so convenient. I rely on buses so much that I became surprisingly lazy. I would
choose to take the bus even when the destination is
How Did Machiavelli And Locke s Influence On American...
Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke Still/Relevant Governance is not constant. Throughout
history the use of government has been constantly evolving; from monarchies and
dictatorships to constitutional and democratic republics. Some forms of government
last longer than others. Many modern political philosophers agree that the key to a
successful governmentis survival, which The United Statesgovernment seems to
agree with; due to the fact that it has lasted significantly longer than other
governments. The U.S Government has been surviving for over 200 years now.
Modern political philosophers: Machiavelli, Hobbes, and Locke would all agree
that the United State s democracy is a solid form of government. They would also
recognize a good amount of their own ideas within the government. The U.S
government was developed by incorporating the ideas of the previously mentioned
political philosophers as well as others. In this paper, I will be discussing the
influence Machiavelli, Hobbes and Locke s had on the U.S government, in addition
to the generation and justification of my own ideal form of government.
Conversation about NiccolГі Machiavelli is not always positive; however, the U.S
government reflects a majority of his revolutionary ideas for political philosophy.

As previously mentioned, representative democracy is heavily influenced by
Machiavelli s idea on internal and external controls, which helps to even out the
power within a government. There are many branches within a representative
democracy, which I agree with strongly. The presence of multiple branches allows
more places to distribute power. The more the power is distributed, the more it is
limited. I strongly believe that government should possess a limited power; therefore,
a representative democracy is
Essay On Calculus Class
These previous weeks have been a roller coaster ride for me in calculus class. We
covered several derivative rules and applied them during lecture and even
homework. On discussion day, I took the quiz for these rules and managed to get a
perfect grade. On the 27th of October, I managed to sleep past eleven o clock.
Unfortunately, I missed on the introduction to the chain but I was still able to get a
note from a friend of mine. That night I decided to attempt the assigned homework. I
felt that this concept was easier than the time I learned it in high school. I managed
to get through the homework in roughly two hours. The following week we took our
midterm and heavily discussed the chain rule along with examples. As for why this
week is a rollercoaster, I was certain that I will pass the midterm without any
difficulties. The homework and quizzes gave me high expectations. These
expectations eventually hit the ground (very quickly) once I saw the actual test.
For my chemistry class, many concepts still feel like a review with few new
information. I haven t faced a dramatic change in difficulty yet and I believe I won
t. My method to passing this class consists of reading the topics in the reader and
solving the practice examples a day prior to the lecture. Once in lecture, everything
covered further enhances my understanding. The professor s advice to approaching
problems is sometimes different from what I previously learned. This difference
makes me appreciate his teaching

Cosplay Imperialism
Cosplay, short for costume play , is a performance art in which people called
cosplayers wear costumes and specific accessories and props to represent or portray a
specific fictional character. It is a unique Japanese form of art which, playing upon
the identificatory fantasy, it enables the western participants to assume identities and
to differentiate themselves in ways which western culturecannot. The average
cosplayer is not just putting on a costume; the experience is one of rebirth, an identity
transformation. Daniel s (2010) paper determines whether cosplay is a demonstration
of cultural imperialism of cultural hybridity. Lotecki (2012) and Hale s (2014) paper

America. Cosplay help people with low self esteem by improving communication
skills, creativity, and the perception of body image.
Cosplay can increase confidence through social interaction and communication.
Modern trends of declining community interaction and a fading sense of social
belonging have created gaps that fan cultures are able to fill by providing a space
for community and acceptance. Cosplay is a social activity that takes place in
specific environments, such as anime, manga, and sci fi conventions, club meetings,
karaoke events and so on. These events are socially defined sites of activity for
cosplayers, where one can find peers with similar interests, sign up in a variety of
performances, and actively participate within the community. Conventions hold

Individual Investor Perceptions And Behavior During The...
Individual investor perceptions and behaviour during the financial crisis
The main focus of this paper is on the financial crisis and the individual investor
perceptions about it as well as the risk taking behaviour of the people. The paper
discusses the aspects of risk perceptions and risk tolerance in regard to the significant
fluctuations of the investor perceptions and the volatility of the return expectations.
To understand these perceptions, a panel data set has been used which combines the
monthly survey data and the brokerage records. The sample era includes, on the one
hand, the months when universal stock markets were hit toughest, that is, September
and October 2008.
The research undertaken has a very constant effect on the investor psychology about
the behaviour on risk taking and trading. A key discovery from such readings is that
individual investors have trouble learning from their understandings, and if they
learn, this is a slow and gradual process (Gervais and Odean, 2001; Seru et al.,
2010). Furthermore, separate investors often fail to update their behaviour to
compete their experiences and are comparatively unaware of their return
performance (Glaser and Weber, 2007). Therefore, it seems that at least for the
period of tranquil times, investors involvements have little or no effect on their
perceptions and behaviours. Thaler and Johnson (1990) as well as Barberis (2013)
discover that undergoing a number of successive losses decreases investors

Assignment On The Pigman
The Pigman Assignment
Provide a brief intro in which you identify the character whose life became brighter
once the Pigman entered it:
According to the text, John s life became brighter once the pigman entered it. This is
because in the beginning of the book, John is the kind of person who played pranks
on people, such as the Pigman, and drank alcohol or smoked all day. But as things
develop John discovers that Mr. Pignati is so incredibly nice and genuine and
trusting that John finds it hard to trick the Pigman without feeling guilty. Finally by
the end of the book, John finally gets a job, and for the time, in a long time, John is
unselfish again.
Establish that your character had a poor relationship with his or her parents (provide
text details!)
John finds in the Pigman something so much needed by him and so denied by his
own parents that he finds it hard not to change. This is because John does not get
along with his parents, especially his father, who he calls the Bore. One major
source of friction between John and his dad is John s dream of becoming an actor.
When John tries to tell his father that he doesn t want to wear a suit and carry an
attachГ© case, and repeatedly says, I want to be me, his dad ignores and
discourages his dreams, and says to him Thank God Kenneth isn t a lunatic (7).

parents consider him nothing short of perfectly.) Also, John s mother is, he tells us, a
Social Boundaries
As a result of this, hierarchies or other patterns of cooperation within the boundaries
comes into existence. In extreme cases, different boundaries are merged together,
thus replacing independent, already existing ones. During their advancement
processes, a number of controversies confront the social boundaries. For instance,
they can be obstructed such that their existence and progress becomes endangered.
This usually happens when interaction fails to take place in a given group. Tilly
claimed this to be a major problem, since it becomes almost impossible and
complicated to know when the barriers become open, and allow free interactions to
take place (Tilly 2005: 7, 32). Secondly, he warned that sometimes it becomes
unclear to detect when the boundaries lose their importance and values. This
uncertainty state about the tight closeness between confinements and the society
members can be confusing, since one can never know how deep the bound is and a
slight mistake can be the origin of complex difficulties in the society. Tilly clarifies
the doubts becomes easier to understand when people are unified after being divided
either through wars, conflicts and attacks (Tilly 2005: 213 229).... Show more content

However, Tilly, though he agreed to Barth s idea that the social boundaries should be
fully reseachered on and understood, since the constant shifts that takes place in them
can be compared to strong forces that enable boundaries to change their original forms
and status. Although Tilly warns that being in a position to comprehend the boundary
construction systems is not an easy task, due to the regular change thatoccurs to
them. This adjustments are noted when certain situation of circumstances challenge

merely illuminates incompetency or gaps in the planning process. If the company

Value of Time
The value of Time
The value of time is limitless, it cannot be measured. The value of time arises from
the fact that human life is short but he has to do a lot of works within the short span
of time. Each work requires some time. If the work is not finished in time, it may not
be finished at all. That explains why time is so valuable and it should not be lost for
nothing.
Tome goes on like the tide of a river and it never waits for anybody. Lost time can
never be found again. Misuse of time is a great crime and it makes life barren like a

It moves. What was yesterday is not today. What is today will not be tomorrow.
Yesterday is gone. Today is and tomorrow is yet to come. Yet time is said to have no
holiday. It exists always.
The entire creation moves on according to a time pattern. There is birth, growth
and death. There is time for everything. Plants flower and give fruits. Seasons come
according to time. A child is born, grows into boyhood, adolescence, youth, middle
age and old age according to age and time. Every movement of creation is linked
with time. One cannot grow paddy in a month nor can a child become an adult in a
year. Everything is fixed to a time frame.
Time is a free force. It does not wait for any one. It is commonly said that time and

You can never get back the lost minute. One has to strike the iron when it is hot. The

Time is the best medicine , says Ovid. It is said that time heals all wounds and it
even heals what reason cannot. All human beings are emotional. When negative
emotions like fear, anger, envy and jealousy overtake them, they lose reason and act
in haste leading to serious consequences. They may repent later, as emotions cool
down. But the damage done is done and remains forever. Even that damage can heal
with the passage of time. People involved may forget and forgive. That is the

Taking a Look at Wikileaks
Wikileaks, cofounded in 2006 by editor in chief Julian Assange, is a site designed
to announce and publicize sensitive information. The goal of Wikileaks is to
provide protection for journalists, citizens, and anyone who might need to be
protected from the free based or sensitive information they upload to the site.
Wikileaks is protected by a network of software, anonymous postal drops, and
lawyers, operating on a policy of secrecy to keep all of its posters safe from possible
reprisals.
I believe Wikileaks is in the right, as it allows its users to expose sensitive
information and secrets that citizens need to know about. Governments have been
criticizing some of the content posted, however, there is little legally that they can
do. Wikileaks is essentially another branch or avenue of the public press, and there
is no official secrets act to stop information from being posted. There are people
doing pre publication reviews of articles posted; people who have a vested interest in
ensuring the accuracy of the material.
In recent years, Wikileaks has acquired mixed public reception, receiving
numerous awards and appraisal, as well as harsh criticism. In 2008 and 2009,
Wikileaks received the New Media Award, and in 2010, it was listed as a website
that could change the way the news works. It was praised as a tool to empower
citizens to voice their opinions and report the truth. However, the site received
criticism for defacing the value of a journalist. Journalists

everyone scrambles to find the most effective way to harness solar, wind, and
water power, they forget about a form of producing energy that has been researched
for 70 years and is only a hair s breadth from being usable(26). Fusion, the same
power that fuels the sun, could fuel the world s homes and cars. A 1000 megawatt coal
fired power plant requires 2.7 million tons of coal per year(21) whereas proposed
fusion powerplant designs only require 250 kilos of fuel per year to produce more
power(22).That s 1/10800000 of the fuel required to run a coal fired plant. Even with
all fusion could accomplish, funding for it has been cut dramatically in the past few
years because of the inability of scientists to attain sustained fusion. Fusion is the key
to ending our dependence on coal, oil, and natural gas because sustained fusion would
produce 4 million times the energy that current methods produce and the fuel is
harmless and readily available.(thesis statement)
Producing electricity in almost any power plant is a very similar process. In each, a
fuel heats water into steam, which then flows through pipes to spin turbines. When
the turbines spin they produce usable power. The main difference between the
power plants are the form of fuel used and how it is used. In a coal fired, wood, or
natural gas power plant the fuel
Dive In. My First Piece Of Personal Advice To My Future
Dive in
My first piece of personal advice to my future self is to dive in. Fear of failure has
always been something that I ve struggled with. During my first year of university,
I was in the Faculty of Arts but desperately knew I wanted to be business school.
With that said, I was extremely scared of failure and held my application back until I
was ready the next year. For a whole year, I took courses that I wasn t passionate
about as I couldn t bring myself to apply to Sauder. I wasted a year of my
undergraduate experience because I was scared. I deeply regret it now that I know
what I m capable of.
My time at Sauder has forced me to directly face my fear of failure. Networking
events, presentations, debates, group work, job interviews, ... Show more content on

During the first few years of my career, I want to be a PhD candidate in consumer
behaviour. I want to learn more about different statistical methods to test my
hypotheses and learn new theories that I can draw upon for new research ideas. My
first advice to dive in is especially applicable in the academic world. The large
majority of research ideas do not work out because the data doesn t support the
hypothesis or journal reviewers turn down the proposal. For my future self, it is
critical that I m not discouraged by null findings or rejections from editors because it
is part of the job.
While the process of research can seem gruelling to most people, I know that I m
passionate about it because time passes by quickly when I m thinking about a new
research question or writing a research proposal or finding patterns in my data. My
contingency advice to my future self is, if research doesn t work out, find another
occupation that makes it feel like time is flying by.
It s not just about the money
When I first started at Sauder, I had a preconceived belief that if I worked hard in
school that would mean I would make a lot of money and, consequently, be happy.
And so I did do that for the first couple of years before I realized I was miserable
since I spent no time pursuing my hobbies or seeing my friends and family. Thus, I
want to build
Differences And Differences Between Formal Education
And...
SOMEWHAT FIXED PARAGRAPHS Formal education and learning are two
different things. They both have their similarities and non similarities. Based on
personal experience, learning is when the instructor interacts with the students,
making them understand and develop skills from in and outside of the classroom. For
example, rather than having the teacher only show how to solve a math problem on
the board with hopes that you will understand it perfectly from then on. The teacher
would also interact with the students if they re still struggling, making them do
activities that could be with other students to solve problems together, and making
them think differently in various ways and connecting the students minds together.
This would not only enable the students to achieve good grades but they would also
understand the information better. Imagine this, if teachers stood up and talked to the
students face to face rather than just handing them packets more, imagine how better
the learning skills in students would develop. Another example would be making
something like experiments in science class would be more fascinating than looking
at a paper. Students are the future of this nation, if we want to see change then we
have to actually change our system of education. We can t change anything if we re
going to repeat what we did yesterday.
Formal education on the other hand, is learning in class only. As where informal
education would take place outside of the classroom. In formal
The Harlem Renaissance
Over the course of time, many different movements have occurred. The most
influential types have ranged from revolutionary movements to feminism. These
movements have changed the course of society and kept a different outlook on new
ideas. A very important idea that needed to be stressed was the freedom of African
Americans. For so long they were slaves and treated extremely poorly. Eventually,
they became free people. However, they were still not viewed as equal. It took many
years to move even one step in the right direction. A specific movement did help the
African America appear independent and equal. One of the most influential
movements and still occurring to this day is the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem
Renaissance is the cultural movement of the 1920 s. The movement essentially
kindled a new black cultural identity through art, literature and intellect. The Harlem
Renaissance started during the Roaring Twenties. It took place in Harlem, New York.
It became most prominent in the mid to late 1920 s and it diminished toward the
early 1930 s (Henderson). The Harlem Renaissance was initially called the New
Negro Movement or the New Negro Renaissance. It was the result of numerous
components, including the Great Migration. After World War I, countless African
Americans left the country South for urban communities of the North looking for
better employment and a more tolerant environment. By 1918, Harlem, New York
had the highest number of black peopleon the planet,
Personal Problem Management At My Place Of
Employment
Everyone who has ever held a job or professional position has experienced some
time of conflict. Whether it was personal or between other co workers, conflict is
unavoidable. The workplace is best described as a professional melting pot. People
who come together, from different backgrounds and opinions, to serve a common
purpose are bound to have a disagreement (Lytle, 2015). This is something
managers should always be prepared for and should even expect to occur. Conflict
can be a healthy part of any type of decision making process if it is received by
mature and self confident individuals who can maintain professionalism (Nahavandi,
Denhardt, Denhardt, Aristigueta, 2015). For this particular paper, I will describe a

A large part of management is to help motivate, educate, and maintain company
success. Employees were not given accurate information or updated on company
happenings and expectations because of the lack of effort from the previous
manager. They also did not provide effective customer service because they were
not focused on the customers needs were more used to pushing them off on
another employee in order to get them out of the way. Employees also did not have
a concern for company time. Employees would take their hour lunch break every
day to run errands but would also clock back in and take an additional break to
actually finish their lunch on company time. The manager was so inwardly focused
that she allowed employees to get away with an ineffective workday on a daily
basis. This type of management helped to create a toxic work environment.
However, when the new manager came in she did not approach the issues
effectively. When she took over she made a lot of changes to try to improve business
strategies. She initiated monthly business meetings to address how to enhance
business and create higher sales goals. Without confronting the staff as a whole,
however, she would only give suggestions about how to improve. She made no effort
to get the respect of the staff and work to establish some structure within the
workplace. Instead she made suggestions and let her expectations
Assignment On Benihana Simulation

BENIHANA SIMULATION REFLECTIVE JOURNAL
OVERVIEW:
BENIHANA INC, an American restaurant company was founded in 1964 in New
York City and has 116 Japanese cuisine restaurants. Benihana simulation is a
computer simulation of an operation management result based on concept of
Benihana restaurant in Tokyo designed by Harvard school. The outline of the
simulation is based on two seating position i.e. bar and the dining area. The target of
this restaurant based simulation is to boost utilization, nightly profit and throughput
time by using batching strategy, size of bar and cycle time and different advertising
scheme. Simulation consist of 6 challenges where only 1 to 3 factor can be changed
in challenges 1 to 5 whereas challenge 6 is a combination of strategies to gain the
maximum output i.e. nightly profit by using all possible factors from 5 previous
challenges.
I started simulation by testing all the possible outcomes from challenge 1 to 5 and
used the best scenario from one simulation to the other step by step and drew the
conclusion at the very end.
CHALLENGE 1:
The first challenge was to determine whether or not batching dining room customer
was beneficial. Batching means that the parties must reach a number of eight
before they are seated. Two scenarios from the simulation show that batching is a
better strategy that helped to increase profit. Utilization of the restaurant capacity
is largest while batching. We could place 8 people at single table rather than
placing group of 5 at one and 3 at another. The number of customers that can be
served at one time highly influences the profit. According to the simulation it is
more beneficial to use batching as average profit is $83.64 compared to average
profit of $282.29 when not batched. By using batching benihana restaurants are able
to eliminate bottleneck that occurs in the waiting area/bar. By doing so they are able
to see more customers in their restaurants which can be seen in the graphs to the
right. They lose fewer customers and more diners are served. Bottleneck primarily
refers to the resources with
Dbq 3rd Estate French Revolution
During the 1700s, France s government was run by a three system estate system.
The First Estate was made up by the powerful clergy members, while the Second
Estate was made with nobles. Peasants and working men made the Third Estate, also
the largest estate. In this large estate there was a little class named the Bourgeoisie
was a part of the Third Estate. Though the Bourgeoisie was highly educated and
always had stable professions, they were not set aside from the peasants. The Third
Estate was treated very poorly during the 1700s. Life was not suitable for the working
class. The mistreatment and inequality led to the French Revolution. Inequality during
this time period meant that things were not the same throughout each class. Unequal
power between the estates, abuse of the Third Estate, and the taxes and price raises
were the three reasons that outweighed the many political, social, and economic
factors that led to the French Revolution.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though the Third Estate made up the majority of the population, they only
got one vote. As seen in the chart based off of the three estates in France during
1789, 97%of the citizens created the Third Estate (Doc 2). One vote for 97% of
the population was unequal, and no one s voice was heard separately. The Third
Estate had only one vote, the First and Second Estate were able to pass anything
that pleased them. According to the English Bill of Rights written by the English
Parliament, That the pretended power of suspending of the laws or the execution of
law is regal authority without consent of Parliament is illegal... (Doc 8) The English
had the same issue and solved it earlier. France should have inferred that the issues
would appear and used the English s struggles and solutions for their own good. The
First and Second Estates did everything in their power for the Third Estate to have
very minimal
What Is My Favorite Sport Essay
Despite what other has to say soccer is one of my favorite sports. Here is a game
played by two teams of 11, each trying to pit their wits and skill against the other in
an attempt to win the match. The game lasts for 90 minutes in two halves of 45
minutes each. The reason for this is so that each team plays in both directions so that
no team has an unfair advantage with slope or wind which could affect the game.
In the first place Soccer is my favorite one because is the only sport where size really
doesn t matter. I m a 5 0 and I still get the chance to play it with no problem. I was
introduced to the delights of a relatively physical activity that would both keep me
fit, and provides an outlet for enjoyment, together with the opportunity to increase
my skill and muscular dexterity. It would also help me to develop a reasonable well
built and healthy body, naturally the level of skill you ... Show more content on

Both in playing and watching. In fact, as a player, I played for 20 seasons from the
age of 10 to 25 before age caught up with me. I would recommend the game to
anyone, either as a player or spectator. It certainly gave me a beautiful experience, I
got the chance to make new friends and of get feed backs of what they think about
my skills as a soccer player. That I love learning new tricks with the ball, it takes
time to get it perfect but at the end it satisfies me. I might not be a professional one
but when I m playing against another team just for fun and I have a new trick
causes everyone to get excited and it makes me get a feeling that I cannot explain.
Makes me remember the reason of why this is my favorite sport.
In conclusion despite what other have to say Soccer is my favorite sport. A sport
where size doesn t matter; the uniform is very light for a person who doesn t like to
run with heavy equipment. Rules are simple and you get to play it all year long

P. 2012). According to The National Centre for Complementary and Integrative
Health (2013) clinical studies of antioxidant supplements have not found them to
provide substantial health benefits. Some possible reasons for this include: The
positive health effects of a diet high in fruit and vegetables or other antioxidant rich
foods may actually be caused by other substances present in the same foods.
Differences in the chemical composition of antioxidants in foods versus those in
supplements may influence the overall effect. The relationship between free radicals
and health may be more complex than previously thought. Free radicals may actually
be beneficial rather than harmful and removing them may not be desirable. Rayman,

selenium concentrate. Studies have shown that selenium supplementation is effective
against the autoimmune condition Hashimoto s thyroiditis (commonly known as an
underactive thyroid) as well as Graves disease (known as an overactive

Self Assessment Empowering Others Self Assessment: Empowering Others Delegation is the process of entrusting work to others by giving them the right to make decisions and take action (Schermerhorn Bachrach. 2015. p. 257). In this assignment, the self assessment of Empowering Others was completed from the Management textbook and the following will be a report of the self assessment interpretation (Schermerhorn Bachrach. 2015. p. 262). Overview The assessment gives a rating on a series of nine questions from 1 Strongly Disagree, to 5 Strongly Agree. The lower the score, the more apt you are at being able to delegate to others. The time it takes to explain tasks to others and your co workers workload are constantly at varying levels. The complexity of some tasks may require more time explaining than what is allotted to complete task. In those cases, another time that is more suitable should be planned to train the employee for future occasions. If manpower usage is at its capacity, delegation of additional tasks would only strain employee efficiency. Disagree Questions one, three and six question the employee s skill level to complete the delegated task. I have always been willing to assign my employees a new task, which is how they learn. Mistakes happen all the time, but how each person deals with the issue is how they will grow professionally. The success and failure of delegation sometimes fall on the support level of the manager. Employees do not need micromanaged, although there should be regular status updates with their manager to ensure the task is progressing to expectations. Conclusion My work ethic supports the function of delegation within the means of the department. Montresor defines this importance because he is a connoisseur himself, of murder and deception, he makes his victim, Fortunato, act a certain way, he makes sure there are no witnesses, and he does it all without getting caught. • 7. The Physics Of Satellites Orbiting Earth Satellites orbiting earth will experience external perturbations that can affect the orbit. The primary force acting on the satellite depends on the altitude of the orbit. The most significant effect is caused by atmospheric drag which affects satellites in low earth orbit. Outside of low earth orbit, satellites still experience external forces that could change the orbithowever unlike atmospheric drag, the orbit altitude will not necessarily decrease. In addition to atmospheric drag, satellites are subject to thermal drag and gravity perturbations. Atmospheric Drag: (Author: Emma) Atmospheric drag effects all spacecraft orbiting earth below 2,000 km, producing both short periodic and slow perturbations. It is the is the largest source of error in modeling the force on many satellites because it is difficult to predict [2]. Atmospheric drag is caused by the collisions of gas molecules with the spacecraft. Over time, the collisions start to decay the orbit. Demonstrating a positive feedback effect, where drag decreases the orbital altitude where the density is greater which produces more drag which then decays quicker. Factors that influence drag are the atmospheric drag surrounding the spacecraft, as well as the spacecrafts drag coefficient, area, mass and velocity [1]. The atmospheric density is not constant and changes with solar activity. The solar magnetic activity cycle is the periodic change in the sun s activity that lasts around 11 years. During solar maximum,

  • 9. The Jesus Movement Occurred Within The Intertestamental Era The Jesus Movement occurred within the intertestamental era. The movement had one foot in the past on the other in the future as this period emerged. Before Christianity stepped out on its own, it was considered to be a sect of Judaism. Hellenism acted as a veneer over the everyday life of Jews, but beneath that veneer, the Jewish worldview dominated the Gospel, not pagan Hellenism (Eddy, 2014). The claim that the Trinity is a Hellenistic pagan corruption of the early church was denied by recent research. Early Christianitywas rooted in Jewish theological thought and like Judaism, the new faith guarded its identity (Eddy, 2014). One of the best kept secrets in the Christian church is the large role that women played in the early church. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christian and secular writers credited women with the growth of the church (Krueger and Kroger, 2012). There is nothing inherent in the character of Christian ministry as it is presented in the writings of the New Testament which would give reason for the exclusion of women. On the contrary, the New Testament portrays Jesus treating women as equal human beings. It also portrays women and men serving side by side in the various ministries of the early church . . . According to the evidence, the exclusion of women from ecclesiastical ministry is neither in accord with the teaching or practice of Jesus with that of the first century church (Bacchiocchi, 1987). Contrary to Rabbi ben Azariah s remark that Rather should the words of the Torah be burned than entrusted to a woman . . . Whoever teaches his daughter the Torah is like one who teaches her obscenities, the Holy Spirit was poured out on all the disciples, men and women alike, on the Day of Pentecost (Bacchiocchi, 1987). Peter quoted Joel to solidify that Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. . . and on my menservants and my maidservants in those days I will pour out my Spirit (Acts 2:17 18). Maidservants meant that women had received the gift of the Holy Spirit (Bacchiocchi, 1987). Jesus was revolutionary in that he treated women and men as equals and violated many Old Testament regulations and traditions that indicated gender inequality. Robinson (2012) stated many examples of how Jesus treated women

  • 11. The Adoption Of Building Information Modeling 1.0Introduction It has been recognised that it is common to have much higher real construction costs than what was predicted at early design and plan phrase. Poor data and information management as one of the major reasons causes costoverruns has achieved $16 billion a year in US construction industry given by recent research carried out by US NIST (2004). The adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) was then suggested and encouraged by many expertise which has been proved in many practical construction cases in the past that BIM would help to efficiently reduce the information costs throughout the construction process. In this paper the researcher will briefly introduce the background and development of BIM. The relationship between BIM adoption and project cost saving in Architects, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry will also be analysed. Besides, this paper also aims to discuss the potential impacts of the use of BIM on total duration and project costs in construction industry. This is carried out through analysing and evaluating the benefits and innovation of project process within BIM environment. Apart from that, challenges associated with BIM technology and barriers that prevent people from adopting BIM technology will be presented in the end. 2.0 The Origin of BIM With the development of computer technology and much less costs, the adaptability of BIM collaboration during the design process has been widely embraced by construction industry.

  • 13. Amending the Second Amendment On December 12, 2013, a heavily armed man walked into a small elementary school in Connecticut and opened fire, ending the lives of 26 children and teachers, not only shattering the quiet of the small town but leaving our nation lurching at the number of young lives lost. The horror of this event renewed people s passion on both sides of the fiercely debated issue of gun control and brought the issue to the forefront of American politics once again. While no new gun control laws have been passed since this tragedy, the debate over how to interpret the 2nd amendment continues. Gun control laws are the government s way of regulating the manufacture, sale, transportation, possession, and use of firearms. In our world today, we face the vast controversy of gun control and who should be able to possess a destructive firearm, and under what conditions. These laws differ significantly around the world, and in fact the laws in the United States vary by state. Supporters of strict gun laws argue the dangers of allowing citizens broad rights to possess firearms. Opponents claim that they wish to have a source of defense in their home, and also that certain regulations may violate their individual rights. Gun control laws are protected by the second amendment in the Bill of Rights, the right to bear arms. A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. The bill guarantees Americans the

Similarly, evidence from research highlight that there are negative ways in which workers can redress inequality; As seen in Organizational behaviour and Work, Wilson, Fiona M, (2010), it highlights the ways in which individuals act negatively towards inequity underpayment leads to lowered job performance (Prichard et al., 1972; Lord and Hohenfeld, 1979). Another form of reaction to underpayment is disruptive, deviant behaviour, such as vandalism and theft (Hollinger and Clark, 1983). Theft might be seen as a means to replenish feelings of underpayment inequity. The Hawthrone Studies conducted by Elton Mayo between 1924 and 1932, showed that employees are not just motivated by the money, outcomes, but their attitudes, needs as well. Initiating the human relations approach to management and the needs and motivation of employees was the primary concentre of managers. • 16. The Collapse Of The Third Reich Essay Following the collapse of the Third Reich, Germany was facing an uncertain future. It was divided amongst four nations with different ideas on how to handle the Nazis who remained and what to do about the future. The Potsdam Agreement dictated how the remains of Germany were to be divided amongst the United States, the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, and France. It also dictated that Nazi influences were to be purged, with Nazi laws being repealed and war criminals put to trial and punished for their actions.[1] In the American occupied zone, one of the major projects undertaken by the United States government was to denazify their region. Despite the denazification process being a major point of focus for the United States, the process was slow, inconsistent, and poorly executed. As a whole, the American attempt to denazify their German territory was a failure due to several factors, most of which stemmed from the fact that the United States attempted to use judicial systems to shape their ideal political system. They removed anyone in power during the Third Reich from power, and set up a series of questionnaires and trials to punish those with Nazi connections. The tribunal system was slow, inefficient, and Americans and Germans had different ideas of how severe punishments should be. As a result, a fraction of the perpetrators they wished to punish actually ended up receiving any repercussions, those that did were not punished for years. Many German civil servants were

The author will cover the key features, core technology, benefits, and cost of the proposed system. In businesses today, it is imperative that the accounting system be tied into every aspect of a business and integrated within all of the information systems in use. The store manager would then fax the information to F amp; A to be manually entered into the system. In my opinion, Kudler Fine Foods could benefit from a holistic Finance and Accounting system that will allow for better compatibility with the company s other systems. The current system has a module for each major function and each module has to maintain compatibility with the other modules. If any upgrades or changes were to be made on any of the other systems in the company, all of the separate modules of the Finance and Accounting system would need to be compatible. This means that there is a greater expense in upgrading or changing any other system in the company because all systems must be connected to the F amp; A system. A holistic system that can provide all of the necessary functions needed by the company all in one program and streamline the process and minimize the costs of upgrading systems anywhere in the company. In the long run, it would be less costly to first upgrade the Finance and Accounting system before any other systems are upgraded. Then the other systems can be tailored around the Finance and Accounting system to ensure compatibility and to unify the company s business systems. The alternative

Over the centuries, the English Parliament progressively limited the power of the English monarchy which arguably culminated in the English Civil War and the trial and execution of Charles I in 1649. After the restoration of the monarchy under Charles II, the supremacy of parliament was a settled principle and all future English and later British sovereigns were restricted to the role of constitutional monarchs with limited executive authority. The Act of Union 1707 merged the English Parliament with the Parliament of Scotland to form the Parliament of Great Britain. Individual investor perceptions and behaviour during the financial crisis The main focus of this paper is on the financial crisis and the individual investor perceptions about it as well as the risk taking behaviour of the people. The paper discusses the aspects of risk perceptions and risk tolerance in regard to the significant fluctuations of the investor perceptions and the volatility of the return expectations. To understand these perceptions, a panel data set has been used which combines the monthly survey data and the brokerage records. The sample era includes, on the one hand, the months when universal stock markets were hit toughest, that is, September and October 2008. The research undertaken has a very constant effect on the investor psychology about the behaviour on risk taking and trading. A key discovery from such readings is that individual investors have trouble learning from their understandings, and if they learn, this is a slow and gradual process (Gervais and Odean, 2001; Seru et al., 2010). Furthermore, separate investors often fail to update their behaviour to compete their experiences and are comparatively unaware of their return performance (Glaser and Weber, 2007). Therefore, it seems that at least for the period of tranquil times, investors involvements have little or no effect on their perceptions and behaviours. In extreme cases, different boundaries are merged together, thus replacing independent, already existing ones. During their advancement processes, a number of controversies confront the social boundaries. For instance, they can be obstructed such that their existence and progress becomes endangered. This usually happens when interaction fails to take place in a given group. Tilly claimed this to be a major problem, since it becomes almost impossible and complicated to know when the barriers become open, and allow free interactions to take place (Tilly 2005: 7, 32). The value of time arises from the fact that human life is short but he has to do a lot of works within the short span of time. Each work requires some time. The goal of Wikileaks is to provide protection for journalists, citizens, and anyone who might need to be protected from the free based or sensitive information they upload to the site. Wikileaks is protected by a network of software, anonymous postal drops, and lawyers, operating on a policy of secrecy to keep all of its posters safe from possible reprisals. I believe Wikileaks is in the right, as it allows its users to expose sensitive information and secrets that citizens need to know about. Governments have been criticizing some of the content posted, however, there is little legally that they can do. Wikileaks is essentially another branch or avenue of the public press, and there is no official secrets act to stop information from being posted. There are people doing pre publication reviews of articles posted; people who have a vested interest in ensuring the accuracy of the material. In recent years, Wikileaks has acquired mixed public reception, receiving numerous awards and appraisal, as well as harsh criticism. In 2008 and 2009, Wikileaks received the New Media Award, and in 2010, it was listed as a website that could change the way the news works. It was praised as a tool to empower citizens to voice their opinions and report the truth. However, the site received criticism for defacing the value of a journalist. Journalists
  • 40. The Future Is Bright with Fusion With the world s supply of fossil fuels declining, alternative sources of power are an important issue in the minds of scientists and world leaders alike. While everyone scrambles to find the most effective way to harness solar, wind, and water power, they forget about a form of producing energy that has been researched for 70 years and is only a hair s breadth from being usable(26). Fusion, the same power that fuels the sun, could fuel the world s homes and cars. A 1000 megawatt coal fired power plant requires 2.7 million tons of coal per year(21) whereas proposed fusion powerplant designs only require 250 kilos of fuel per year to produce more power(22).That s 1/10800000 of the fuel required to run a coal fired plant. Even with all fusion could accomplish, funding for it has been cut dramatically in the past few years because of the inability of scientists to attain sustained fusion. Fusion is the key to ending our dependence on coal, oil, and natural gas because sustained fusion would produce 4 million times the energy that current methods produce and the fuel is harmless and readily available.(thesis statement) Producing electricity in almost any power plant is a very similar process. In each, a fuel heats water into steam, which then flows through pipes to spin turbines. When the turbines spin they produce usable power. The main difference between the power plants are the form of fuel used and how it is used. In a coal fired, wood, or natural gas power plant the fuel

The large majority of research ideas do not work out because the data doesn t support the hypothesis or journal reviewers turn down the proposal. • 42. Differences And Differences Between Formal Education And... SOMEWHAT FIXED PARAGRAPHS Formal education and learning are two different things. They both have their similarities and non similarities. Based on personal experience, learning is when the instructor interacts with the students, making them understand and develop skills from in and outside of the classroom. For example, rather than having the teacher only show how to solve a math problem on the board with hopes that you will understand it perfectly from then on. The teacher would also interact with the students if they re still struggling, making them do activities that could be with other students to solve problems together, and making them think differently in various ways and connecting the students minds together. This would not only enable the students to achieve good grades but they would also understand the information better. Imagine this, if teachers stood up and talked to the students face to face rather than just handing them packets more, imagine how better the learning skills in students would develop. Another example would be making something like experiments in science class would be more fascinating than looking at a paper. Students are the future of this nation, if we want to see change then we have to actually change our system of education. We can t change anything if we re going to repeat what we did yesterday. Formal education on the other hand, is learning in class only. As where informal education would take place outside of the classroom. In formal

These movements have changed the course of society and kept a different outlook on new ideas. A very important idea that needed to be stressed was the freedom of African Americans. For so long they were slaves and treated extremely poorly. Eventually, they became free people. However, they were still not viewed as equal. It took many years to move even one step in the right direction. A specific movement did help the African America appear independent and equal. One of the most influential movements and still occurring to this day is the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance is the cultural movement of the 1920 s. The movement essentially kindled a new black cultural identity through art, literature and intellect. The Harlem Renaissance started during the Roaring Twenties. It took place in Harlem, New York. It became most prominent in the mid to late 1920 s and it diminished toward the early 1930 s (Henderson). The Harlem Renaissance was initially called the New Negro Movement or the New Negro Renaissance. It was the result of numerous components, including the Great Migration. Benihana simulation is a computer simulation of an operation management result based on concept of Benihana restaurant in Tokyo designed by Harvard school. The outline of the simulation is based on two seating position i.e. bar and the dining area. The target of this restaurant based simulation is to boost utilization, nightly profit and throughput time by using batching strategy, size of bar and cycle time and different advertising scheme. Simulation consist of 6 challenges where only 1 to 3 factor can be changed in challenges 1 to 5 whereas challenge 6 is a combination of strategies to gain the maximum output i.e. nightly profit by using all possible factors from 5 previous challenges. I started simulation by testing all the possible outcomes from challenge 1 to 5 and used the best scenario from one simulation to the other step by step and drew the conclusion at the very end. CHALLENGE 1: The first challenge was to determine whether or not batching dining room customer was beneficial. Batching means that the parties must reach a number of eight before they are seated. Two scenarios from the simulation show that batching is a better strategy that helped to increase profit. Utilization of the restaurant capacity is largest while batching. We could place 8 people at single table rather than placing group of 5 at one and 3 at another. The number of customers that can be served at one time highly influences the profit. According to the simulation it is more beneficial to use batching as average profit is $83.64 compared to average profit of $282.29 when not batched. By using batching benihana restaurants are able to eliminate bottleneck that occurs in the waiting area/bar. By doing so they are able to see more customers in their restaurants which can be seen in the graphs to the right. They lose fewer customers and more diners are served. Bottleneck primarily refers to the resources with
