Civil Services Personal Statement
Civil services always interested me as it s a very honourable way to serve the country. When I was in
my home country, my late grandfather who had an administrative role in the police services told me
stories about how he met great people while doing his job. His stories inspired me and my late uncle,
who aspired to become an Administrative Officer, motivated me to serve my country for as long as I
can remember. I m interested in this programme as it s a step to a future in the civil services and due to
the variety of tasks I ll get to perform whilst on internship. It is a great environment where I can boost
my crucial skills such as critical thinking and networking. I see it as a wonderful opportunity to gain

Religion And Ethical Analysis Of Cars 3 Lightning Mcqueen
Religion and Ethics Film Analysis In my chosen movie Cars 3, Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen
Wilson) the champion race car is no longer the fastest racer on track. Mid way through the 2016
season Lightning McQueen and his friends Bobby Swift and Cal Weathers are the top three racers in
the championship, until one day in Arizona on the last lap as McQueen, Swift and Weathers are racing
towards the chequered flag a rookie Jackson Storm (voiced by Armie Hammer) flies past them to win
the race the three best friends are in shock post race. When McQueen goes to congratulate Storm,
Storm replies arrogantly it was such a pleasure to finally beat you and then drives off. Over the

What Is The Compromise Of The Korean War
The Korean War was fought between North Korea (aid of China and the Soviet Union) and South
Korea (aid of the United States). The Korean War started June 25, 1950 when North Korean forces
invaded South Korea. The Korean War ended on July 27, 1953 with the Korean War armistice.
The reason why the Armistice is such a great compromise is because nothing really changed with it.
Both Korean countries still had almost the same amount of land afterwards and kinda the same
borderline. Reason why this is so big is because unlike a normal treaty where there is usually land
change, there was was no land change in the Korean Armistice. Also, with nothing really changing
when the Armistice was signed that means that both countries still stayed with the same governments.
Secondly, the Armistice is such a great example of compromise with conflict because the Korean
Armistice never actually ended the Korean War it just ceased fire (Korean Fast Facts CNN). This is a
huge thing because it still allows even more compromise in modern days. Since the Armistice never
actually ended the Korean War and only ceased fire if North and South Korea ever wanted wanted to
unification they could that and it would be easier than if they had signed an actual peace treaty (CNN).
The Armistice signing not only ceased fire but the Armistice states that the countries had to pull out all
military personnel from either country. In order to insure the stability of the military armistice so as to
facilitate the

Apple
Apple History Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple on April 1, 1976 in Santa Clara Valley,
California. The two built the Apple I out of a garage and sold it. The first Apple I computer did not
include a monitor, keyboard, or casing. Due to the high demand for the Apple I, Jobs realized that
there was a market for small computers. He also realized that he could market the company s name
and the computer s user friendly look. In 1977 Wozniak added a keyboard, color monitor, and eight
peripheral device slots. Apple sales increased from $7.8 million in 1978 to $117 million by 1980,
which was the year that Apple went public. Wozniak left the Apple in 1983 and Jobs hired PepsiCo s

The Dice Game
Abstract
The Dice game is a powerful active and interactive learning exercise that helps in learning different
concepts of production, and The theory of constraints provides an integrative framework of Operations
Management concepts . It illustrate the impact of dependency and variability on output and work in
process inventory in balanced processes. With enhancement in technology both internal as well as
external factors play a vital role in shaping and improving the supply chain management of an
organization. this paper goes beyond the basic model and gives a in depth knowledge of how
spreadsheet simulations can be used to generate results. the integration between operation

source of improving financial performance, and an awareness that performance is affected by various

These measures are global, i.e. they measure the results of whole organization rather than parts of the
organization. While traditional methods of OM discuss cross functional aspects, TOC approach
emphasizes on measuring and improving system wide results and identifying factors that restrict the
performance of whole system. It recognizes the effect of variability dependency on the performance of
the system and uses the dice game to illustrate the impact. TOC framework include drum buffer rope

Uniloacular Hydoatidosis Essay
Uniloacular hydoatidosis is a zoonotic parasitic disease representing a major public health problem in
many countries around the world, including Egypt. Close relation¬ships between dogs and humans
appear to correlate with the high prevalence of the disease in endemic areas (Moro 2009) and camel is
an influential reservoir of the disease. We selected the universal primers based on the highly conserved
NADH dehyedrogenase 1 gene (Bowles and McManus, 1993) and our data indicated that the purified
and partially sequenced PCR products generated 399 bp of NADH dehydreogenase 1 gene. The

The exclusive finding of the G6 vareant in all camel and human isolates in Qalyobia Governorate,
Egypt indicates the presence of a predominant transmission cycle in which the camel strain exist. Our
findings confirms a previous study done using RAPD PCR for characterization of human and animal
hydatid cysts, it has been shown that human and camel isolates were the most related pair and camels
are important hosts for the transmission of human hyadatidosis (Azab 2004). Similarly, performing the
cycle sequencing and nucleotide sequence analysis identified the G6 genotype in 30 (96.8%) out of 31
human isolates in Cairo, Egypt (Abdel Aaty 2012). Although the camel strain G6 is traditionally
considered as less infective to humans (Santivañez 2008; Casulli 2010), recent molecular findings (M
rad 2005; Osman 2009; Adel Aaty 2012) as well as ours suggest that the prevalence of infection of this
genotype may be higher than previously thought. Among the ten genotypes of Eceohinococcus
granoeulosus (EG) recognized worldwide, only 5 strains were known to infect humans including G1,
G2, G5, G6, and G7 strains (Table 4). The most frequent strain associated with human CE appears to
be the sheep strain (G1) and the highest rates of infection are recorded in communities involved in
extensive sheep farming (Grosso 2012). Sequancing of our samples revealed

The Rise Of The Papacy
The Rise of the Papacy
Introduction
The birth or the beginnings of the Papacy is a rather difficult task to really nail down to a specific
time, place or person and also the growth of the Papacy was a rather slow and gradual process. In this
modern age Rome has been associated with the birth place of the Papacy but history shows that
Constantine moved the capital of the Roman Empire to Constantinople in the 4th century. In
Constantinople the father of the church was referred to as the Pope. The word Pope simply means
father, and in early times was used to refer to any important and respected bishop. In Rome the father
of the church was referred to as the Bishop of Rome. It is the purpose of this paper to present evidence
of the individuals that gave rise to the Papacy in the centuries between the 6th and 9th.
How and Why the Papacy in Rome became the Center of Power There are several contributing factors
that prompted the rise of the Papacy during the time name mentioned above, but the one event that
prompted this rise was the fall of the Roman Empire. When Rome was attacked by the Lombards, the
Goths and the Huns it left a trail of destruction and uncertainty. Also during this time Christian
heresies were running rampant throughout the state. The effort of Constantine and Roman Church
leaders is when the Papacy really started to gain ground and the rise to power. As historical evidence
has shown, Constantine relocated the capital of the Roman Empire to Constantinople

Macro Social Work
Social workers create change across various levels and approaches. The levels include micro, working
with individual issues; mezzo, working with families, groups, organizations, etc.; and macro,
intervening and advocating with communities or government. Many Social Workers will interact at all
three levels in their careers. This essay, however, will focus on the importance of macro social work.
Social Workers that work at the macro level are involved in a variety of tasks and organizations that
perhaps would not typically be recognized as social work that involves working with individuals and
families. For example, macro level social work may include research at universities or private
institutions, implementing law and policy changes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macro social work seeks to address and resolve social justice issues on a larger scale. Social Workers
involved in community organizing encourage and empower citizens to rally around a mutual problem
and bring about meaningful change to their community. The administrative and management skills
needed to manage and support community organizing are essential for any Social Worker to learn no
matter the level at the which they are working. An example of community organizing during our week
13 class discussion about communities as arenas of change was the recent gun violence march and
protests related to the Parkland school shooting in Florida is an example of making changes at a macro
level. The students and their community began organizing and leading walkouts and marches at a
national level to rally for stronger gun control laws. They are now calling for town hall meetings to
continue to put pressure on lawmakers to pass stricter gun control laws using slogans such as Vote

vote, they are aware that the change has to come from the government in order for change to take
place at the local level. With an estimated 1,000,000 participants in the March for Our Lives rally
across the United States, they have effectively used community organizing to get their message heard

As a parent, you are faced with a number of trials and tribulations. You have the responsibility to
ensure your children s proper care. Childcare is one of the dilemmas parents face. Childcare should be
established for infants and toddlers. When children start school, after school care becomes necessary
for working parents. With after school programs being needed, parents are burdened with the problem
of getting their children safe home, to an institution for child care or a home care provider. While
recovering, from the tension of the falling economy leaves parents to cope with the new challenge of
high schools that do not have transportation to and from school, because the school system has
decided to reduce student transportation . According to the California Department of Education,

audiences. Famous for the use of foul language, dark humour which satirizes a wide range of topics
(such as politics, racism, gender equality e.t.c.) and portrayal of religion for comic effect, the show
generated countless debates and controversy over the course of it s run. The debate over censorship of
some episodes, and the show as a whole continues nowadays, and both sides seem to have truth
behind their words. Pro censorship group states that South Park is harmful for young minds, that
religion is not the right thing to joke about and that show has to know it s limits. Anti censorship group

Some schools banned South Park related merchandise for students, and parent councils in UK
expressed concern when their children voted Cartman as their favourite personality in 1999 poll. From
Matt Stone s point of view, this poll should be an eye opener to parents. Kids are not nice, innocent,
flower loving little rainbow children. Kids are all little bastards; they don t have any kind of social tact
or etiquette. He reckons. (Lim D. 1998) Result of the said poll serves as a good evidence that South
Park has a certain level of impact on the children. If kids vote for a specific character, it means that
they can relate to that character in one way or another, and children tend to imitate what they see or
like. Is Eric Cartman a good influence for children? I don t think so. Not only people who fight for
safety of children reacted on the show s content. Religious people also had something to say about
specific episodes of the show. Portrayal of Virgin Mary in 139th episode of South Park angered
several Catholics, and creators also received threat messages for portrayal of proper Muhammad in

Part 1A Critique Quantitative
Research Question
What is the diagnostic accuracy of a new dynamic clinical test for the detection of meniscal tears?
a) This might be of relevance because the current diagnostic gold standard (MRI) is expensive and not
always available.
b) Are current testing methods inaccurate? Are clinical tests inadequate compared to MRI?
Introduction seemed contradictory; as seventy five per cent accuracy of diagnosis can be made on
history alone (Daniel, 1982; DeHaven, 1975) followed by specific clinical tests with above average
accuracy. Very brief essentially, non existent literature review. Besides mention of the population
susceptible to meniscal injury, other relevant information pertaining to the injury wasn t briefed. Such
as, the mechanism of injury as well as the classic signs and symptoms experienced by an individual
after meniscal pathology. Neither the introduction nor the brief literature review goes over what
exactly sensitivity and specificity imply in the results. Sensitivity being how good the test is at
detecting meniscal tears and specificity being how good the test is at identifying normal knee (Mohan,
2007). Also, there is no mention of what constitutes a false positive and a false negative result

Midterm Patient Quality And Safety Paper
Midterm Patient Quality and Safety Paper Over time the health care industry has become more
complex. Health care is rapidly evolving and continuing to complicate our delivery of care, which in
turn has the same effect on quality of care. This steady evolution and change results in nursing
shortages and an increase in the prevalence of errors being made. In hopes of preventing these errors
and creating safe and high quality patient care, with the focus on new and improved ways of thinking,
The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) initiative was developed. The QSEN focuses on
the following competencies: patient centered care, quality improvement, safety, and teamwork and
collaboration. Their initiatives work to prepare and develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that
are necessary to make improvements in the quality and safety of health care systems (Qsen.org, 2014).
Question One Patient Centered Care Patient centered care refers to the view that patients and their
family members are partners in developing a care plan. This stems from the belief that the patient is in
control and that the care provided is rooted in respect that addresses the patient s personal needs and
values (Barnsteiner Sherwood, 2012). Creating a partnership with a patient that allows them to grasp
the goals and methods of their plan of care and includes them in the decision making process can
prevent errors from occurring. This gives the patient the opportunity to correct any

Maybe, you just like that feeling of the tin in your back pocket. You could even like the feeling on
your gums when it s in your mouth. It might even be that feeling of knowing that you chew, and that

The effects of this decision not only have an impact on your family and friends, but yourself. Yes, it is
expensive to buy, it hurts the wallet, and you don t have the money to do fun things, because you are
spending money on an addiction, that you just can t control at times of stress.
Your family will constantly tell you to stop. It will never end. My mom tells my dad, that she does not

can stress parents out. Even co workers can stress the individuals out, so they chew to reduce the

The Roles Of Women During The Mafia
Women are not usually discussed about when it comes to organized crimes and Mafias. They are not
always taken as seriously as their male counterparts. They are usually seen as the emotional support
for their men. They are viewed as passive onlookers. The women are seen as victims of the male
power, even though this plays along with the male stereotype. Women are involved in organized
crimes for a number of reasons. They could be involved out of greed, the need to survive, or even to
seek independence. There are even three stages to women being involved in the Mafia. The three
stages being part of a support system, then defending their men, and the final stage being them
becoming criminals. Griselda Blanco is a great example of a woman ... Show more content on

Even women involved in Mafia related activities were not taken seriously when they were arrested
and taken to trial. They had a certain concept that the Mafia was conservative and machoistic. Women
were just seen as lacking the power to actually be in the Mafia. If a woman was featured in the news
of committing a Mafia crime then she was seen as some kind of mythical creature, even if a male had
committed the same crime. The youth and beauty of the women was prominent. The cruelty and
brutality of the crimes were emphasized.
Women started out being a support system for their mafia male counterparts then they ended up
becoming the leading protagonists. At first, women would help hide men and would help manage the
clans . They would help maintain contact and social relations. They were seen as dependable figures.
They would help bail out men. Women that were part of a religion were viewed as being a respectable
and revising image of the organization. There were two well known groups of Mafia women and they
were the Camorra and Cosa Nostra. Cosa Nostra was a Sicilian organization. They were two
completely different groups. The Sicilian Mafia women were loyal and subordinate wives. They did
not interfere with their husband s projects or decisions. They would obey all of the husband s orders.

America s Impact On The Planet Essay
As a species that continues to evolve and expand on this planet, humans have made many lasting
impacts to their home. Some of these changes often go generally unnoticed, such as the shift in
popular music, or fashion trends. Even transitions from job to job, or relocating to a new city seem to
weigh lightly on the general public. However, unbeknownst to us, we as a species have a far greater
impact on this planet than we would like to admit. Throughout our day to day lives we tend to
unknowingly impact and mold or future. It can be something as simple as forgetting to recycle that jug
of milk, or neglecting to clean up a spill after a self done oil change. Even the foods we eat and the
way we manufacture them have a lasting effect on the planet. Perhaps one of the more noticeable ways
we as a society affect the Earth though is how we build upon it. With much of the global population
centralized in urban areas, and there continued growth. It is interesting to observe the way in which
this urbanized land reacts to human interference. One of the more interesting aspects of urbanization is
the use and management of water. With the continued expansion of cities, and the modification of the
land in which these concrete jungles cover, changes to land are inevitable. In his book Urban Storm
Water Management, Hormoz Pazwash briefly summarizes some of the impacts urbanization has to
land, and water quality stating. Urban development alters the natural process of storm water runoff.

Media Influences On Children s Life
Media influences through many types of communication systems and has a massive effect on people s
life, but are Americans fully aware that food industries generally targets children? The lawsuit brought
by two teenagers, Ms. Bradley a 19 years old, weighs 270 pounds, Ms. Pelman a 14 years old, weighs
170 pounds, was whether McDonald s was responsible for their obesity because McDonald s did not
provide the necessary information about the health risks associated with its meals that they eat.
Placing the blame into the fast food industry for allegedly contributing to their obesity and health
problems. The media through many types of advertisement promotes unhealthy foods, high in
saturated fat, large amounts of fructose sugars, salt, as the ideal food options. Many may agree that it
was their own wrongdoing that contributed to their obesity, but what about if people would give the
teenagers some credibility to their allegations. Therefore, people can take into consideration the theory
that media has a huge negative influence on what American children eat. Media influence is
something people should certainly always be aware of. Children on a daily basis read magazines,
listen to the radio, watch television or check their online social media for the latest trends in the world,
children are opening themselves up to be programmed by the media routinely. Why are children the
main target by the food industries? Media has a negative influence on children s food choices through

Analysis Of On The Subway

ENGL 101
17 September 2015
Textual Analysis Essay #1
Sharon Olds, poet of on the subway depicts a situation where a white female makes observations and
internal thoughts about a black male that she witnesses on a subway that Olds describes as
representing tension between the white and black races. The black teenage male possibly portrays not
just one black teen, but the entire race as a whole. He represents the entire race. Olds uses
enjambments, powerful imagery, as well as figurative language, specifically metaphors, in order to
point out the stereotypical differences and tensions between races in today s community and the bigger
picture of the common stereotype of Caucasian people being above the African American people on
the socio economic ladder. Her forceful tone reflects the severity and prevalence of this harsh
commonly seen contrast between the two races.
Enjambments can be utilized for a variety of different reasons in order to change the way the reader
analyzes and thinks about the poem. A basic reason to use enjambments would be to make the lines of
the poem look more even, but in this poem they are used for a little more reasoning. One example of a
critical and essential enjambment in the poem that helps Olds prove her purpose exists when she says I
am / living off his life (18 19). This really

Lord Of The Flies Jack Is A Leader Analysis
A powerful leader is one who knows how to lead with control and has strong leader characteristics. In
the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, some readers support the fact that Jack was a better
leader than Ralph, but others feel that Ralph was the better leader. Although several supporters feel
that Ralph is the best leader, it is evident that Jack is the better leader since he can effortlessly control
the group on the island.
It is clear that Jack is a better leader than Ralph because he is more of a demanding, manipulative
person. From the time the boys landed on the island, Jack was in control of the choir. The other boys,
led by Jack, run off in disorganized excitement to light the signal fire (Reilly, 3). This quote shows that
the boys followed in Jack s footsteps since they set foot on the island. Along with controlling the
choir, Jack challenged Ralph s opinions. We do not need the conch anymore. We know who ought to
say things (Reilly, 4). This quote demonstrates that Jack is making an attempt to control the group by
doing what is best for him, and he demands that the boys support his decisions. In addition, Jack s
main priority was to hunt and give them what they want. The point is that Jack is doing what he wants,
not what he ought (Reilly, 5). This quote illustrates that Jack is aware that he is the leader of the group,
for he is doing what he wants and not what he has to. Clearly, it is evident that Jack is the best choice

English Language Instruction:

Linguistics 371: World Englishes

The necessity for a global language has always existed to break down the barriers between nations and
for communication to create a sense of a global community. English is quickly filling that niche, and
instruction in English as a second language is expanding worldwide to places such as Nepal. Nepal is
a land locked country located in Southern Asia bordered by China in the north and India in the south,

Although there have been some educational policies passed to enforce the study of English, the
establishment of English as a second language in Nepal has been limited due to resource shortages,
poor training of teachers, and the prevalence of varying local mother languages, which makes
instruction in English difficult. Additionally, English has created a rift between the social classes as
good English language education is usually only available to those students who come from an
influential family. For these reasons, as opposed to being treated as a second language, English is still
treated as foreign language in Nepal.
The country of Nepal is home to approximately twenty seven million people, with ninety two different
identified languages spread across the numerous ethnic groups. About eighty seven percent of the
country s population speak one of the five major languages: Nepali, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Tharu, and
Tamang (Weinberg, 62). However, Nepali is spoken as a primary language by about half of the total

Lyddie A Lowell Factory
People make critical decisions every day. And Lyddie, a Lowell Factory in the novel Lyddie by
Katherine Paterson has a decision to make right now. Lyddie, a 15 year old girl, has to make the same
decision as any adult. Sign the petition organised by her close friend Diana Goss for better working
conditions, or don t sign. Play it safe. Looks like this girl from the industrial revolution is going to
teach all of us a lesson. There are indeed reasons she shouldn t sign; like the family debt. But there are
more important reasons that say she should. Like her unsafe work conditions that put her life at risk.
Lyddie as well as all the factory girls require better wages. As said on pages 99, 100, and 88. On page

Temperament Characteristics Of Child Development
Temperament is defined as the individual behavioral style of the child, the way in which he
characteristically reacts to environmental stimuli. Temperament is distinct from the child s innate
abilities and motivation. Their are nine temperament traits; activity being the first which is based on
the level of motor component in a child s functioning, rated as regular, variable, or irregular. I would
rate myself as moderate. I prefer to be independent; I rather do a task myself so that I don t have to
watch someone else do it. I also don t like to be confined I prefer to explore the areas and things that
surround me. Rhythmicity being the second temperament trait is all about the regularity or
predictability in the timing of recurrent activities, rated as regular, variable, or irregular. Regular best
describes me because I stick to a routine everyday and if it is changed I have a very hard time dealing
with it. I eat the same thing everyday and at the same time everyday. I wake up every morning at the
same time, but I fall asleep at different times depending on what I did that day. And lastly I have a
difficult time adjusting to different time zones whenever I go away on vacation. The
Approach/Withdrawal is the third temperament it is about the nature of a child s response to a new
stimulus, rated as approach, variable, or withdrawal. Withdrawing child best fits me; it takes me
awhile to warm up to new things, I m cautious with new people, things and places. I prefer to surround

The Attributes of a Registered Nurse
Question 1: What attributes are important for a registered nurse to have, and why are they important?
According to Mason, Isaacs and Colby (2011, p. 11), provision of care in the field of nursing requires
comprehensive nursing expertise, critical thinking, sound clinical judgement and a holistic overview
of health. Registered nurses need to possess a combination of key attributes when providing care,
because these attributes play a significant role in enhancing positive outcomes, not only for the
patients in their care but also the practitioner and the organisation. Nurses require sound time
management skills and an effective communication approach in order to improve the provision of
healthcare. Nurses often perform a leadership role in hands on patient care, which involves providing
patient care in different contexts to improve health outcomes. They require attributes that can lead to
ongoing research and learning, and the implementation of healthcare policy. Relevant attributes
include problem solving skills, the ability to critically analyse situations, the ability to absorb and
share knowledge, effective interpersonal skills, self confidence, leadership skills, and the ability to
cooperate in a team environment. Nurses require effective interpersonal skills to enable them to
manage conflict, which can be an inevitable component of busy workplaces with high service
demands. Work environments often have a diverse range of staff and patients with potentially
conflicting

* Prevalence of Forward/Backwards Integration, Channels of Distribution, Pace of Process and
Product Technology Change: * Partial forward integration already exists in department stores; they
already present their products to the customer directly, for example, Target Corp has its own in store
brand called Market Panty for grocery items. While technology has made them tweak that process a
little by e commerce websites where customers can now shop online and get their merchandise
delivered directly to their houses. * Backward integration seems to be very little or not present at all in
department stores.
* Whether Products are highly differentiated or very similar: * Products range from high quality and
expensive brand name items to low quality low cost items to appeal to all the department store
customers for both luxury item shoppers to budget shoppers. * As per IBIS World research report
...industry research suggests that private labels or exclusive brand account for around 20% 30% of
store merchandise and the rest is the same across the market (Lekovic 22) * Merchandise also varies
based on the store operation whether the store is traditional merchandise or discount, thus quality

The Apology Of Socrates In Book I Of The Republic
The Apology shows how other people perceive Socrates actions and how Socrates himself perceives
his actions; these different views are then evident in Book I of the Republic. The Greek word apologia
means defense. In The Apology of Socrates, Socrates is defending himself and his actions because of
the accusations against him corrupting the youth, atheism, and making the weaker argument the
stronger. As a philosopher, Socrates is dangerous to the city because of the relationship between
reason and revelation. Reason seeks to find why things are done in a certain way, and if they are found
to be done in an inadequate way, this inquisition calls into question the authority who are over the city.
People often think that their way of life and the good way of life is the same ... Show more content on

However, Socrates asks if it is good to give back a madman a weapon he had loaned, because while
that fits Cephalus definition of justice, it is clear that no one could benefit from it. It is because of
Socrates innocently challenging important well respected men that was accused and put on trial.
Polemarchus takes on a similar definition of justice: justice is going good to friends and harm to
enemies (I, 332d). As a refutation to this, Socrates brings up the point that not every friend is actually
a good person and not every enemy is bad, which would be doing injustice to that person. Disproving
Polemarchus could be thought of as an example where Socrates is corrupting the youth which leads to
his being on trial. Thrasymachus argues that justice is the interest of the stronger. When Thrasymachus
makes this case, Socrates does not inquire but cross examines him, which gives the impression that
Socrates just wishes to put Thrasymachus out of business and does not care about actually changing
his mind. This also, presents another opportunity for Socrates to be accused of corrupting the

Essay on The Unique Art Produced During the Renaissance
The renaissance or rebirth was a cultural awakening which spanned from the fourteenth to sixteenth
century. A growing interest in humanist traits and classical ideas heavily influenced the art during the
renaissance. A growing community of artists provided much needed competition for their profession.
The renaissance introduced many different and modern ideas but also remained obedient to classical
belief. The unique art of the renaissance spread throughout Europe. Northern European art differed
tremendously from Italian art. Art during the early renaissance time period was mostly commissioned
by wealthy and powerful families. Ruling families were accepted by the average public. These
families commissioned various and lavish artworks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This unique blending of fresh ideas and rejuvenating classical ideas defined Masaccio s artwork and
more importantly the art of the early renaissance. The high renaissance time period introduced the
world to arguably its best artists. Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Titian ruled the
grand community of artists at the time. Da Vinci and Michelangelo further succeeded because of their
versatility. The high renaissance was marked by rival city states and a continued trend of lavish
spenders. Religious and political leaders spent great quantity of money to have their chapels, or any
setting appear better than their rivals. Michelangelo s artwork dominates over any other in the Sistine
chapel. The Sistine chapel is the ideal place of where new popes are elected. Michelangelo brought
along his love for sculpting in his paintings. There are about three hundred figures on the Sistine
Chapel s ceiling, and no two appear the same. Michelangelo s artwork has an enormous variety of
expression. Arguably Michelangelo s best painting; The Creation of Adam perfectly represents his
ideas. God is shown flying through the sky; while Adam is bound to the earth. Beneath the Lord s left
arm appears to be Eve, waiting to be born. The viewer s eye follows the entire arm motion perfectly,
which ends up pointing at Christ s child face. Michelangelo s figures differ greatly from Leonardo Da
Vinci s formal poses and gestures. Michelangelo s figures include

Hybrid Vs. Electric Cars
Hybrid vs. Electric
When hearing the words gas, hybrid and electric, people automatically think of automobiles.. [this is a
very clunky opening rewrite it I think people do know those are the three main types of cars...]
People buy hybrid or electric cars because they either want to save money on gas or they want to be
able to help the environment with their vehicles. One of the most popular hybrid vehicles in the
United States is the Toyota Prius, which, compared to a normal gas powered car, has great mileage
and reduced fuel emissions. The popularity of the Tesla Model S a fully electrically powered car has
recently skyrocketed due to the increase in gas prices. Hybrid technology powered cars, such as the
Toyota Prius, are better for the environment than fully electric powered vehicles, such as Tesla s
Model S, because of the emissions created by the electricity that powers the vehicle.
The gas powered vehicle has been a problem for the environment since the day it was created. These
vehicles emit greenhouse gasses that are detrimental towards the environment. Nearly one fifth of the
United States total fuel emissions come from gas powered cars. In 2012 transportation contributed
with 28% of total greenhouse emissions in the United States. One of the greenhouse gasses that cars
emit is Carbon Dioxide. What greenhouse gases including Carbon Dioxide do is trap heat in the Earth
s atmosphere leading to the atmospheric temperature rising. Global warming causes disastrous

Analysis Of Clothes From Arranged Marriage, By Chira...
In Clothes from Arranged Marriage, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni uses the colors and styles of Sumitas
attire to represent events from her life and her emotions towards those events
Before Sumita was wed, her saris represented what, and whom, was lacking in her life. Like her
friends it was time for Sumita to wed, thus partaking in a bride viewing, which was common for an
Indian girl of her age. The females parents would try to find an appropriate Indian family of good
standing. If the family chooses the girl, they would be wed and live together. Sumita s father matched
her with the Sens , a nice, respectable Indian family, who lives in California. A special sari of a pale
pink (1) was most appropriate for her upcoming bride viewing, for the saris color represented the color
of transition. Though Sumita was upset about the possibility of leaving her life, and the unfairness of
belonging to her husband, that was forgotten once her father pulled out that sari. At that time, she
needed more than anything to be okay with change, to be okay with that uncertainty of never seeing
her childhood friends, and that sari did that for her. In the Indian culture, colors of your attire matters
just as the importance of American brides wearing white for their wedding day. And asSumita held the
heavy, silk slippery sari, with tiny stars embroidered all around, she knew Somesh and the rest of the
Sen family would choose her (2), and they did.
While married, Sumita became more comfortable

Analysis Of Frank Jackson s Paper, Epiphenomenal Qualia,...
In Frank Jackson s paper, Epiphenomenal Qualia, Jackson rejects physicalism, a philosophical theory
that states that everything in the world that exists, including all that is mental, is physical.
Additionally, physicalists believe that everything in the world can be explained through the laws of
fundamental physics. Furthermore, Jackson uses thought experiments such as Mary s room, in order to
demonstrate the non physical nature that certain experiences can create. Rather, Jackson believes that
these non physical experiences can be explained by information known as epiphenomenal qualia. In
this paper, I argue that Jackson successfully introduces epiphenomenalism and proves his theory that
physicalism is false, since there are certain experiences, or qualia , that we have that can t simply be
explained through physical notions.
In order to fully understand how Jackson came up with his argument, one must first understand what
the words physicalism and epiphenomenal qualia actually mean in relation to Jackson s paper. Jackson
explains physicalism as a certain type of materialism, which is the belief that there s only one main
substance in the world and that is matter, or the physical material that make up the material world.
Materialism essentially rejects substance dualism, which says that there are two different types of
substances that exist, the matter that make up the material world and the mind, which is responsible
for our mental awareness and how we feel

The Failure Of The Soviet Union
There is a myriad of factors that accounted for the dissolution of the USSR, and the consolidation of
capitalist superiority from 1991 onwards after the fall of an autocracy, and demise of a disunited
provisional government. The official declaration of the termination of the Soviet Union was December
26 1991; this collapse was addressed by the west as the defeat of communism, and the end of the Cold
War. To understand how and why this previously prosperous nation came to fall it is important to look
at the major factors contributing to this disarray. I will examine the economic and ethnic problems the
Soviet Union faced, as well as the problems with those in power.
After the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, the newly formed government had a philosophy ... Show

Communism is described as a theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all
property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state. In
some countries this system worked, but what the Soviet Union failed to do was to instill the ideology
of Communism into the heart and minds of its population, an anonymous Soviet citizen said, They
pretend to pay us and we pretend to work, Showing the lack of motivation amongst the citizens, and
lack of enthusiasm in the system. Not only was there no productivity, but also in the middle of the
1980 s approximately seventy percent of industrial output of the Soviet Union was going to the
military, causing severe shortages of the industrial goods for the rest of the economy, and failing to
meet the needs of the State resulting in acute poverty. In the end the Soviet people became more
cynical about their government and only felt distrust towards them, this and the fact that the Soviet
Union failed to produce a stable economy led to economic decline, eventually demanding the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Parliamentary And...
INTRODUCTION
Democratic government can be parliamentary or presidential. The difference between these two forms
of governments depends upon the relationship between the executive and legislative organs of the
government. If the executive and legislature are unified and controlled under the control of same
persons, so that there is assurance of harmony between these two branches and also the executive is
responsible to the legislative body for his policies and actions, such a system is parliamentary . If the
executive and legislature are separate and the executive is not responsible to the legislature, it is called

In this way, it is ensured that the government is, at all times, conscious of fulfilling its responsibilities
and promises regarding general welfare of the public without fail because failure to do so will affect
the electoral prospects of the government in the next elections. There is flexibility in the parliamentary
system as it is highly adaptive to changing situations. For instance, if there is situation of emergency
the leadership could be changed without any kind of hassle. As in England it happened during World
War II when Mr. Chamberlain had step down for Mr. Winston Churchil to handle the war. Moreover,
the elections can be deferred till normalcy is restored. Such flexibility can only be seen in the
parliamentary system whereas there is no flexibility in the Presidential system which is a highly rigid
system.
Another important characteristic of this system is swiftness in decision making and policy
formulations for the purpose of governance of the country as pointed out by Lord

The Cloud Of Wild Canadian Geese
A subdued accumulation of churning murky grey clouds presses forward from the eastern horizon and
occupies half of the mid afternoon s sky. The sun s blistering rays diffuse in the clouds and tinges the
cloud s outer edges with shades of crimson and wine. The lake s clear, echoing plane beckon the
luminance of the cloud s striking blend of colors. Its stagnant nature furnishes a reflection of the full
length of the radiant sky, down to the terrain s low banking hills and grassy overgrowths within the
fields. A thin assembly of tall, heavily branched loblolly pines enshroud the compass of the landscape,
forming an imitation of an opaque forest wall. The rainfall deepens and electrifies the inertness of the
terrain. The pines shake from side to side in the blustery weather, waving and swirling their branches
around with vigorous activity. A short leafed oak tree, much larger and archaic than its counterparts,
stands firmly on the precipice of the lake s long, curving contour. An exposed gaggle of wild Canadian
geese shuffle their soiled webbed feet with short, quick steps alongside their goslings through lush
bunches of wild grass en route towards shelter from the unforgiving downpour. The gaggle takes cover
from under the oak tree s high adhering limbs by the edge of the lake. Two of the oak tree s main
protruding limbs expand upward and slanted, in opposing directions. Mossy vines crawl up and
around the oak s trunk and hang from the tips of the main limb

  • 2. Civil Services Personal Statement Civil services always interested me as it s a very honourable way to serve the country. When I was in my home country, my late grandfather who had an administrative role in the police services told me stories about how he met great people while doing his job. His stories inspired me and my late uncle, who aspired to become an Administrative Officer, motivated me to serve my country for as long as I can remember. I m interested in this programme as it s a step to a future in the civil services and due to the variety of tasks I ll get to perform whilst on internship. It is a great environment where I can boost my crucial skills such as critical thinking and networking. I see it as a wonderful opportunity to gain insight into various areas of ... • 4. What Is The Compromise Of The Korean War The Korean War was fought between North Korea (aid of China and the Soviet Union) and South Korea (aid of the United States). The Korean War started June 25, 1950 when North Korean forces invaded South Korea. The Korean War ended on July 27, 1953 with the Korean War armistice. The reason why the Armistice is such a great compromise is because nothing really changed with it. Both Korean countries still had almost the same amount of land afterwards and kinda the same borderline. Reason why this is so big is because unlike a normal treaty where there is usually land change, there was was no land change in the Korean Armistice. Also, with nothing really changing when the Armistice was signed that means that both countries still stayed with the same governments. Secondly, the Armistice is such a great example of compromise with conflict because the Korean Armistice never actually ended the Korean War it just ceased fire (Korean Fast Facts CNN). This is a huge thing because it still allows even more compromise in modern days. Since the Armistice never actually ended the Korean War and only ceased fire if North and South Korea ever wanted wanted to unification they could that and it would be easier than if they had signed an actual peace treaty (CNN). The Armistice signing not only ceased fire but the Armistice states that the countries had to pull out all military personnel from either country. In order to insure the stability of the military armistice so as to facilitate the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first Apple I computer did not include a monitor, keyboard, or casing. Due to the high demand for the Apple I, Jobs realized that there was a market for small computers. He also realized that he could market the company s name and the computer s user friendly look. In 1977 Wozniak added a keyboard, color monitor, and eight peripheral device slots. Apple sales increased from $7.8 million in 1978 to $117 million by 1980, which was the year that Apple went public. Wozniak left the Apple in 1983 and Jobs hired PepsiCo s John Sculley as president. Close relation¬ships between dogs and humans appear to correlate with the high prevalence of the disease in endemic areas (Moro 2009) and camel is an influential reservoir of the disease. We selected the universal primers based on the highly conserved NADH dehyedrogenase 1 gene (Bowles and McManus, 1993) and our data indicated that the purified and partially sequenced PCR products generated 399 bp of NADH dehydreogenase 1 gene. The exclusive finding of the G6 vareant in all camel and human isolates in Qalyobia Governorate, Egypt indicates the presence of a predominant transmission cycle in which the camel strain exist. Our findings confirms a previous study done using RAPD PCR for characterization of human and animal hydatid cysts, it has been shown that human and camel isolates were the most related pair and camels are important hosts for the transmission of human hyadatidosis (Azab 2004). Similarly, performing the cycle sequencing and nucleotide sequence analysis identified the G6 genotype in 30 (96.8%) out of 31 human isolates in Cairo, Egypt (Abdel Aaty 2012). Although the camel strain G6 is traditionally considered as less infective to humans (Santivañez 2008; Casulli 2010), recent molecular findings (M rad 2005; Osman 2009; Adel Aaty 2012) as well as ours suggest that the prevalence of infection of this genotype may be higher than previously thought. Among the ten genotypes of Eceohinococcus granoeulosus (EG) recognized worldwide, only 5 strains were known to infect humans including G1, G2, G5, G6, and G7 strains (Table 4). The most frequent strain associated with human CE appears to be the sheep strain (G1) and the highest rates of infection are recorded in communities involved in extensive sheep farming (Grosso 2012). • 8. The Rise Of The Papacy The Rise of the Papacy Introduction The birth or the beginnings of the Papacy is a rather difficult task to really nail down to a specific time, place or person and also the growth of the Papacy was a rather slow and gradual process. In this modern age Rome has been associated with the birth place of the Papacy but history shows that Constantine moved the capital of the Roman Empire to Constantinople in the 4th century. In Constantinople the father of the church was referred to as the Pope. The word Pope simply means father, and in early times was used to refer to any important and respected bishop. In Rome the father of the church was referred to as the Bishop of Rome. It is the purpose of this paper to present evidence of the individuals that gave rise to the Papacy in the centuries between the 6th and 9th. How and Why the Papacy in Rome became the Center of Power There are several contributing factors that prompted the rise of the Papacy during the time name mentioned above, but the one event that prompted this rise was the fall of the Roman Empire. When Rome was attacked by the Lombards, the Goths and the Huns it left a trail of destruction and uncertainty. Also during this time Christian heresies were running rampant throughout the state. The effort of Constantine and Roman Church leaders is when the Papacy really started to gain ground and the rise to power. As historical evidence has shown, Constantine relocated the capital of the Roman Empire to Constantinople ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Famous for the use of foul language, dark humour which satirizes a wide range of topics (such as politics, racism, gender equality e.t.c.) and portrayal of religion for comic effect, the show generated countless debates and controversy over the course of it s run. The debate over censorship of some episodes, and the show as a whole continues nowadays, and both sides seem to have truth behind their words. Some schools banned South Park related merchandise for students, and parent councils in UK expressed concern when their children voted Cartman as their favourite personality in 1999 poll. From Matt Stone s point of view, this poll should be an eye opener to parents. Kids are not nice, innocent, flower loving little rainbow children. Kids are all little bastards; they don t have any kind of social tact or etiquette. He reckons. (Lim D. 1998) Result of the said poll serves as a good evidence that South Park has a certain level of impact on the children. If kids vote for a specific character, it means that they can relate to that character in one way or another, and children tend to imitate what they see or like. Is Eric Cartman a good influence for children? I don t think so. Not only people who fight for safety of children reacted on the show s content. Religious people also had something to say about specific episodes of the show. Diagnostic Accuracy of a New Clinical Test (the Thessaly Test) for Early Detection of Meniscal Tears. J Bone Joint Surg Am, 87, 955 962. Part 1A Critique Quantitative Research Question What is the diagnostic accuracy of a new dynamic clinical test for the detection of meniscal tears? a) This might be of relevance because the current diagnostic gold standard (MRI) is expensive and not always available. b) Are current testing methods inaccurate? Are clinical tests inadequate compared to MRI? Introduction seemed contradictory; as seventy five per cent accuracy of diagnosis can be made on history alone (Daniel, 1982; DeHaven, 1975) followed by specific clinical tests with above average accuracy. Very brief essentially, non existent literature review. Besides mention of the population susceptible to meniscal injury, other relevant information pertaining to the injury wasn t briefed. Such as, the mechanism of injury as well as the classic signs and symptoms experienced by an individual after meniscal pathology. Neither the introduction nor the brief literature review goes over what exactly sensitivity and specificity imply in the results. Sensitivity being how good the test is at detecting meniscal tears and specificity being how good the test is at identifying normal knee (Mohan, 2007). • 13. Midterm Patient Quality And Safety Paper Midterm Patient Quality and Safety Paper Over time the health care industry has become more complex. Health care is rapidly evolving and continuing to complicate our delivery of care, which in turn has the same effect on quality of care. This steady evolution and change results in nursing shortages and an increase in the prevalence of errors being made. In hopes of preventing these errors and creating safe and high quality patient care, with the focus on new and improved ways of thinking, The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) initiative was developed. The QSEN focuses on the following competencies: patient centered care, quality improvement, safety, and teamwork and collaboration. Their initiatives work to prepare and develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are necessary to make improvements in the quality and safety of health care systems (Qsen.org, 2014). Question One Patient Centered Care Patient centered care refers to the view that patients and their family members are partners in developing a care plan. This stems from the belief that the patient is in control and that the care provided is rooted in respect that addresses the patient s personal needs and values (Barnsteiner Sherwood, 2012). Creating a partnership with a patient that allows them to grasp the goals and methods of their plan of care and includes them in the decision making process can prevent errors from occurring. • 16. America s Impact On The Planet Essay As a species that continues to evolve and expand on this planet, humans have made many lasting impacts to their home. Some of these changes often go generally unnoticed, such as the shift in popular music, or fashion trends. Even transitions from job to job, or relocating to a new city seem to weigh lightly on the general public. However, unbeknownst to us, we as a species have a far greater impact on this planet than we would like to admit. Throughout our day to day lives we tend to unknowingly impact and mold or future. It can be something as simple as forgetting to recycle that jug of milk, or neglecting to clean up a spill after a self done oil change. Even the foods we eat and the way we manufacture them have a lasting effect on the planet. Perhaps one of the more noticeable ways we as a society affect the Earth though is how we build upon it. With much of the global population centralized in urban areas, and there continued growth. It is interesting to observe the way in which this urbanized land reacts to human interference. One of the more interesting aspects of urbanization is the use and management of water. With the continued expansion of cities, and the modification of the land in which these concrete jungles cover, changes to land are inevitable. In his book Urban Storm Water Management, Hormoz Pazwash briefly summarizes some of the impacts urbanization has to land, and water quality stating. The black teenage male possibly portrays not just one black teen, but the entire race as a whole. He represents the entire race. Olds uses enjambments, powerful imagery, as well as figurative language, specifically metaphors, in order to point out the stereotypical differences and tensions between races in today s community and the bigger picture of the common stereotype of Caucasian people being above the African American people on the socio economic ladder. Her forceful tone reflects the severity and prevalence of this harsh commonly seen contrast between the two races. Enjambments can be utilized for a variety of different reasons in order to change the way the reader analyzes and thinks about the poem. A basic reason to use enjambments would be to make the lines of the poem look more even, but in this poem they are used for a little more reasoning. One example of a critical and essential enjambment in the poem that helps Olds prove her purpose exists when she says I am / living off his life (18 19). This really ... • 20. Lord Of The Flies Jack Is A Leader Analysis A powerful leader is one who knows how to lead with control and has strong leader characteristics. In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, some readers support the fact that Jack was a better leader than Ralph, but others feel that Ralph was the better leader. Although several supporters feel that Ralph is the best leader, it is evident that Jack is the better leader since he can effortlessly control the group on the island. It is clear that Jack is a better leader than Ralph because he is more of a demanding, manipulative person. From the time the boys landed on the island, Jack was in control of the choir. The other boys, led by Jack, run off in disorganized excitement to light the signal fire (Reilly, 3). This quote shows that the boys followed in Jack s footsteps since they set foot on the island. Along with controlling the choir, Jack challenged Ralph s opinions. We do not need the conch anymore. We know who ought to say things (Reilly, 4). This quote demonstrates that Jack is making an attempt to control the group by doing what is best for him, and he demands that the boys support his decisions. In addition, Jack s main priority was to hunt and give them what they want. The point is that Jack is doing what he wants, not what he ought (Reilly, 5). This quote illustrates that Jack is aware that he is the leader of the group, for he is doing what he wants and not what he has to. Temperament is distinct from the child s innate abilities and motivation. Their are nine temperament traits; activity being the first which is based on the level of motor component in a child s functioning, rated as regular, variable, or irregular. The Apology Of Socrates In Book I Of The Republic The Apology shows how other people perceive Socrates actions and how Socrates himself perceives his actions; these different views are then evident in Book I of the Republic. The Greek word apologia means defense. In The Apology of Socrates, Socrates is defending himself and his actions because of the accusations against him corrupting the youth, atheism, and making the weaker argument the stronger. As a philosopher, Socrates is dangerous to the city because of the relationship between reason and revelation. Reason seeks to find why things are done in a certain way, and if they are found to be done in an inadequate way, this inquisition calls into question the authority who are over the city. However, Socrates asks if it is good to give back a madman a weapon he had loaned, because while that fits Cephalus definition of justice, it is clear that no one could benefit from it. It is because of Socrates innocently challenging important well respected men that was accused and put on trial. Polemarchus takes on a similar definition of justice: justice is going good to friends and harm to enemies (I, 332d). As a refutation to this, Socrates brings up the point that not every friend is actually a good person and not every enemy is bad, which would be doing injustice to that person. Disproving Polemarchus could be thought of as an example where Socrates is corrupting the youth which leads to his being on trial. Thrasymachus argues that justice is the interest of the stronger. When Thrasymachus makes this case, Socrates does not inquire but cross examines him, which gives the impression that Socrates just wishes to put Thrasymachus out of business and does not care about actually changing his mind. One of the most popular hybrid vehicles in the United States is the Toyota Prius, which, compared to a normal gas powered car, has great mileage and reduced fuel emissions. The popularity of the Tesla Model S a fully electrically powered car has recently skyrocketed due to the increase in gas prices. Hybrid technology powered cars, such as the Toyota Prius, are better for the environment than fully electric powered vehicles, such as Tesla s Model S, because of the emissions created by the electricity that powers the vehicle. In Frank Jackson s paper, Epiphenomenal Qualia, Jackson rejects physicalism, a philosophical theory that states that everything in the world that exists, including all that is mental, is physical. Additionally, physicalists believe that everything in the world can be explained through the laws of fundamental physics. Furthermore, Jackson uses thought experiments such as Mary s room, in order to demonstrate the non physical nature that certain experiences can create. Rather, Jackson believes that these non physical experiences can be explained by information known as epiphenomenal qualia. In this paper, I argue that Jackson successfully introduces epiphenomenalism and proves his theory that physicalism is false, since there are certain experiences, or qualia , that we have that can t simply be explained through physical notions. In order to fully understand how Jackson came up with his argument, one must first understand what the words physicalism and epiphenomenal qualia actually mean in relation to Jackson s paper. Jackson explains physicalism as a certain type of materialism, which is the belief that there s only one main substance in the world and that is matter, or the physical material that make up the material world.
