Introduction: This essay is searching my selected major, which is Mechanical Engineering BEng at
Liverpool John Moores University. At first, it is investigating the reasons that made me choose this
major, and then compare its first year modules at LJMU with University of Liverpool. Lastly, it
presents an argument in thermodynamics, a module taught at the first year of Liverpool John Moores
University Mechanical Engineering BEng program, which is a comparison between the efficiency of
diesel and petrol engines. A: A bachelor degree of Mechanical Engineering is my selected major to

The second factor is school, my teachers always told me about how amazing engineers are, and how
did they help building with other scientists our modern world, until I reached high school when I first
studied physics as a single subject. My physics teacher was the most to affect me by teaching me
about engines and they work and planting the love of mechanics and engineering into my soul which
kept growing with me as I grew older. Thirdly, since I was a kid I have loved mechanics and engines
and kept always trying to fix my toy cars, thinking about how they were made, and wanting to drive so
badly. Therefore, when was a teenager, I kept asking my older brother to teach me how to drive.
Fortunately, my older brother wanted me to learn how to drive quickly in order to throw our house
chores on me. Therefore, I kept learning how to drive, and my brother taught me how engines works
in simple words, and showed me how to keep maintenance of cars in general and engines in specific.
In conclusion, I have always wanted to study Mechanical Engineering for its great job opportunities,
my family recommendation, school encouragement, and personal experience. B: Mechanical
Engineering BEng is a program taught at Liverpool John Moores University. This part of the essay is

Manufacturing Consent
Manufacturing Consent Questions Avery Reyner September 30, 2012
Manufacturing Consent is a technique of control. Noam Chomsky was first introduced to this concept
from an author named Walter Lippmann who wrote about Manufacturer of Consent. Chomsky
augmented his concept to Manufacturing Concept and the philosophy has become so popular it later
became a documentary film produced by two Canadians. Noam Chomsky has been called arguably the
greatest intellectual alive (Fox, 1998) by the New York Times as he not only is a very outspoken
professor, he is also an American linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, logician, historian, political
critic and activist. The information in this essay was obtained from his video called: ... Show more

The second group is the other 80% of the population. They don t think or pay attention as astutely as
do the first 20% and their opinions and thoughts can be somewhat manipulated. According to
Chomsky, their main function is to follow orders. The consent of the people is the consent, or opinions
being manufactured by the government, and the political system. Their intentions are to manufacture
the consent of the people and make sure that their choices and attitudes are altered in such a way that
they will always do what is in the government s best interest, which often is the same interest of
corporate companies in America. This is what Chomsky meant by propaganda.
The methodology Chomsky s used in studying Manufacture of Consent is called the Propaganda
Model and it is an institutional analysis of the major media. The major media he studied consisted of
The New York Times, The Washington Post and major television channels. Chomsky evaluated them
because he believes that by selection of topics, by distribution of concerns, by emphasis and framing
of issues, by filtering of information, by bounding of debate within certain limits, they determine, they
select, they shape, they control, they restrict in order to serve the interests of dominant, elite groups in
the society. (Chomsky, 1992) He also believes that by analysing the institutions it is very obvious they
have a goal to make money and the way to make money with a newspaper is to sell

Comparative Analysis Of The Estate Tax Essay
Comparative Analysis of the Estate Tax
First and Last Name

Teacher s Name

While the Presidential election of 2016 has been non traditional in many ways, one issue that has
retained its conventional place in American politics is the debate over the estate tax. According to
Merriam Webster Dictionary (2016) the estate tax, labeled the death tax by its opponents, is a tax that
a person must pay on an estate (money or property) that he or she inherits. Given the circumstances
surrounding the estate tax, usually owed after a family member or close relative has passed way, there
can be emotional resentment in regard to its existence and structure. The estate tax also represents a
philosophical divide within American political thought. While the effect of the estate tax is confined to
only a few thousand wealthy families (Hanlon Steinberg, 2013), it strikes at the core of the
contemporary debate over the role of government in American life and what the scope of American s
tax system should be. Two prominent political think tanks, The Heritage Foundation and Center for
American Progress, have published papers on this issue using argumentation, evidence, and data.
Scrutinizing and analyzing these two different arguments on the subject of the estate tax illuminates
the current ideological divide within the United States.
Center for American Progress is a liberal think tank that does research and analysis on a variety of
salient domestic and

NLRPCHT Case Study
NLRPNACHT 3D models showed a typical structural fold and conserved ATP binding motifs Domain
analysis revealed that all the NLRP proteins (excluding NLRP10) comprised of three functional
domains; N terminal PYD, central NACHT and variable numbers of C terminal LRRs. NLRP1 has
two additional domains, FIIND and CARD towards the C terminal region (next to LRR), whereas
NLRP10 lacks the LRR (Fig. 1a; Supplementary Table. S1). Consistent with recently resolved
structures [mNlrc4 (4KXF) and OcNOD2 (5IRL)], and sequence analysis results, we outlined three
functional sub domains of NACHT/NOD modules; (a) the nucleotide binding domain (NDB)
positioned after Pyrin domain (PYD), (b) the helical domain 1 (HD1) and (c) the winged helix domain

showed a conserved ATP binding pattern except for NLRP5, NLRP8, and NLRP9. Till date, only two
ADP bound NLR structures have been resolved experimentally [mNlrc4 (4KXF) and OcNOD2
(5IRN)] and both the structures shared a common nucleotide binding orientation28, 29. Therefore, we
adopted the manual approach of docking; where the γ phosphate group of ATP was deeply buried
inside the cavity, and adenine moiety was positioned outward (Fig. S1b). To understand the binding
mode and dynamic stability of ATP, MD simulations of both the prepared ATP bound NLRPNACHT
complexes [complex I (AutoDock) and complex II (manually docked)] were performed for 60ns time
scale. Manually docked NLRPNACHT ATP complexes exhibited a good binding stability The
experimental evidence suggested that Walker A (GxxxxGK[S/T]) of AAA+ ATPase proteins has the
major contribution in nucleotide binding and particularly, it coordinates the β/γ phosphate group of
NTPs28 37. To acquire a stable NLRPNACHT ATP complex for interaction analysis, a combined root
mean square deviation (RMSD) of Walker A and ATP was calculated, and the result indicated a stable
array of deviation in manually docked systems except in NLRP13 (Fig. 2a). Further, we analyzed the
total numbers of intermolecular H bonds between ATP and NLRPNACHT from the obtained
trajectories as the function of

Synopsis Of A Monologue Was Just Gone !
1. Anyone who has ever been involved in any amount of theatre knows that auditioning is no one s
friend. As someone who is made nervous very easily, I have the awfullest nerves before any audition.
So when my acting class decided to work on auditioning, I was somewhat excited. I had prepared a
monologue, and I was ready to perform it when the next class rolled around. My name was called, and
I was abnormally nervous considering I was surrounded by people I have done much more
embarrassing things in front of we all like to forget about the class in which we spent an hour rolling

I spent every moment of free time I had at rehearsal researching for my paper, and by the time I got
home, I was exhausted. But... I still had a paper to write. Write it I did, surrounded by note cards and
with far too many links pulled up on my laptop, with my kitten at my feet. I finished the paper with
time to spare, and also with one page more than I was assigned. (It goes without saying that I
somehow turned this crisis into a miracle, and I aced the assignment with flying colors.)
3. Let me start by saying this: I am really good at texting. I am very much like some sort of speed
texting machine, which sounds ridiculous, but it is true. I rarely ever make typos, and I rarely send a
message to the wrong person. Though, there was one time in particular that I did the latter, and it
ruined all my plans. One of my closest friends, Alec, had a birthday coming up. He begged me not to
do anything, he just wanted to have a normal day. Of course, knowing me, Alec should have known to
have me make some sort of promise. As it was, I made no such promise, and I made a plan to conspire
with his sister, Emmaline, and plan Alec the perfect surprise party. So, I typed up a text for Emma,
talking about my plan to surprise Alec. Now, let me get something straight here. I am very close with
both Alec and Emma, and different as they may be, they have very similar contact names in my phone;
by this, I mean that both of their contact names

The song The Rose by Bette Midler is some sort similar to the chapter the The Red Candle. In the
chapter The Red Candle it talks about a girl named Lindo Jong, which is forced to marry a boy from

flower, sharp love like a razor and soothing love like a river. I think in this situation in the book love is
like a razor, because their love is not really and it is cutting her up inside. The part that is like the razor

Laser Tag Is A Team Or Individual Sport Or Recreational...
1. INTRODUCTION
Laser tag is a team or individual sport or recreational activity where players attempt to score points by
tagging targets, typically with a hand
held infrared
emitting targeting device. Infrared
sensitive targets
are commonly worn by each player and are sometimes integrated within the arena in which the game
is played. Since its birth in 1979, with the release of the Star Trek Electronic Phasers toy manufactured
by the South Bend Electronics brand of Milton Bradley, laser tag has evolved into both indoor and
outdoor styles of play, and may include simulations of combat, role play
style games, or competitive
sporting events including tactical configurations and precise game goals. is a game which resembles
paint ball, the only difference is that it is played using harmless laser guns.
Indoor laser tag is typically played in a large arena (may be dark or may not) run by a commercial
laser tag operator. The packs are tightly integrated with the devices inside the arena. The arena
devices, and the packs themselves may be linked into a control computer for scoring and control over
game parameters using radio equipment or infrared links. The game computer often serves to control
other game effects and to manage player scores.
Though the guns used in commercially played laser tags have lasers they are not used in actual
mechanism of the game, they actually use infrared to register hits. Infrared has its own cool properties
such as it gets scattered in very short

Zootopian Themes
Traditionally, animated films have been made for and consumed by children, with the plotlines and
themes being relatively basic and forthright. However, recent years have seen the release of animated
films that s explore significantly more adult themes and thought provoking ideas. Perhaps the most
confronting example of adult themes in an animated film is in 2016 s Zootopia . The film forces
viewers to think about concepts such as racial segregation, nature vs. nurture and the debilitating
effect of stereotyping. Although Zootopia features anthropomorphic animals, it is easy to draw a
connection between the films prey vs. predator narrative and racial divide in our own society.
In essence, this paper will outline three significant themes related ... Show more content on

Examples of discrimination are prevalent throughout the entire narrative towards both predators and
prey. For example, Judy Hopps is consistently underestimated and ridiculed in her endeavours to
become the first bunny cop . However, the most blatant instance of discrimination is illustrated in a
flashback scene to the childhood of Nick Wilde. When we are introduced to Nick, it is revealed he is a
con artist and guilty of fraud. Essentially he embodies the shifty and untrustworthy stereotypes that are
linked to foxes. Although, during the second act we learn about Nick s past as a young fox with
dreams of joining the junior rangers troop. As a predator, the prey dominant troop rejects Nick,
shoving him too the ground and putting a muzzle on him, stating if you thought we d ever trust a fox
without a muzzle, you re even dumber then you look . Thus, from that moment, Nick heads down a
life of deviance. Nick divulges to Judy that the experience taught him that if the world s only going to
see a fox as shifty and untrustworthy, there is no point at trying to be anything else . This scene stands
out as the most emotional and effective scene in the film through its utilization of sound, contrast, and
flashback. Flashback is a popular film technique employed by filmmakers to visually present events

The Cause And Causes Of Pulmonary Hypertension
Introduction
Pulmonary hypertension is high blood pressure within the arteries in your lungs (pulmonary arteries).
It is different from having high blood pressure elsewhere in your body, such as blood pressure that is
measured with a blood pressure cuff. Pulmonary hypertension makes it harder for blood to flow
through the lungs. As a result, the heart must work harder to pump blood through the lungs, and it may
be harder for you to breathe. Over time, this can weaken the heart muscle. Pulmonary hypertension is
a serious condition and it can be fatal.
What are the causes?
This condition is caused by many different medical conditions. Pulmonary hypertension can be
categorized by cause into five groups:
Group 1. Pulmonary hypertension that is caused by abnormal growth of small blood vessels in the
lungs (pulmonary arterial hypertension). The abnormal blood vessel growth may have no known
cause, or it may be:
Passed along from a parent (hereditary).
Caused by another disease, such as a connective tissue disease (including lupus or scleroderma) or
HIV.
Caused by certain drugs or toxins.
Group 2. Pulmonary hypertension that is caused by weakness of the main chamber of the heart (left
ventricle) or heart valve disease.
Group 3. Pulmonary hypertension that is caused by lung disease or low oxygen levels. Causes in this
group include:
Emphysema or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Untreated sleep apnea.
Pulmonary fibrosis.
Group 4. Pulmonary hypertension that is caused by

Finding Truth In Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
The Romantic Period was a time very different from that of the previous movement, the
Enlightenment. It was a time for creativity and it was a time of unity in nature and within themselves.
During the Enlightenment, science and reason prevailed. Everything had set rules on how it should be
and how people should act in their private and public lives. Truth was static and never changing until
the Romantic Movement. Truth changed and was based on an individual s experience. Whereas during
the Romantic period. Transcendentalists were people found during this time who, according to A
Handbook to Literature, believed in finding truth within oneself where individuals could hear the
voice of God. They believed each person should find his or her own path to walk with God instead of
relying on an institution. This differed from the ideals of the Enlightenment in that during the
Enlightenment, some believed that science was all the God one needed. Science was the place truth
and knowledge was found, and there was no place in science for God. Dionysus, the god of wine,
fertility, and music is found throughout the works of Romantic authors and is seen as an opposition to
reason from the Enlightenment.

The historical theme of Work, Exchange, and Technology relates to the process of outsourcing,
Laissez faire economics, the Bracero program, and the Manhattan Project. Each of these terms relates
to the development of the American economy based on changes to agriculture, commerce, and
manufacturing. To start with, the process of outsourcing involves obtaining services or products from
an outside source in order to reduce the cost of that service or product. By taking advantage of this
process, the economy of the United States saw an increase as production prices decreased. Second,
during Laissez faire economics, the government allows an industry to be free of state interventions.

The Concepts Of Microeconomics While At San Pasqual High...
Students at San Pasqual High School created a music video outlining the major concepts of
microeconomics while at the same time relating each lesson to the real world, albeit in a humorous
manner. The application of these ideas in the video ranged from determining the price of gas to finding
a dance partner. The concepts addressed by the students including market structures, government
intervention, elasticity, and scarcity, that all hold value in everyday life and an understanding of their
importance can contribute significant benefits to the power of the consumer within the market. To
begin, one of the first concepts introduced by the video was that of market structures. Market
structures are categorized as a result of variables that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a consumer, knowledge of the various market structures allows for the understanding of the
motivations and decisions made by certain firms, and can assist in the making of calculated purchases.
For instance, the student in the video hypothesized that gas prices were rising because multiple gas
firms within an oligopoly were colluding and artificially raising prices. With this information, one can
choose to take their purchase to another firm who does not appear to be colluding and purchase a
substitute good for a cheaper price. If enough consumers are aware of the strategies utilized by firms
within markets structures such as monopolies and oligopolies, action can be taken in order to prevent
costs of goods from reaching levels that only benefit producers. The power that each consumer s
purchase holds is often underestimated, and if used wisely, can help to create a market that fosters
innovation and rewards firms with fair prices. The next major topic the video focused upon was
elasticity. Elasticity is a measure of how sensitive producers and consumers to changes in price of a
good or a service. If a good/service is elastic, willingness to purchase changes significantly with a
small change in price. Conversely, if a good/service is inelastic, the market does not react very much
in response to a change in price. The concept of elasticity was introduced in the music video when a
student was attempting to get away

Human Social Perception Of Social Psychology
Human Social Perception in Empirical Literature
Human social perception is area of study within social psychology that involves the complex cognitive
system that is personal to each individual. Since each person has a unique cognitive system,
interpretation of social situations is unique to each individual. The differences in cognition and
perception between different people allows for varied interpretations, accurate perceptions, and
misperceptions. Social perception is an interesting topic that has been largely researched by a
multitude of social psychologists. The goal of this paper is to provide a brief description of social
psychology, a summary of social perception, some of its forms and uses, misperception, and accuracy
in perception.
Brief Description of Social Psychology
Social psychology is the scientific field that focuses on the individual within society. Due to this
individualistic focus, people are often studied experimentally within or in relation to social
environments. Social psychology studies the effects of social processes and cognitive processes on the
way individuals perceive, influence, and relate to others, in a systematic way, using scientific methods
(Smith Mackie, 2007). Due to the complexity of the human body and mind, social psychology is a
vast field that has been explored by many experts. As social creatures, people interact constantly
within an environment that requires complex cognitive and perceptual processes. As a result, the

Invisible Cities By Italo Calvino
Italo Calvino s (1923 1985) novel Invisible Cities consists of a number of dialogues between traveller
Marco Polo and the Tartar Emperor Kublai Khan. Traveller Marco Polo tells Kublai Khan tales of the
numerous cities of his empire, which the Khan himself will never visit. The men play with the notion
that an understanding of the world s cities will inform the emperor on how to govern his realm (Bloom
2001). Each city cannot be compared, as they are all radically different from one another. Calvino
explores the concept of cities as a collective construction, made up of the memories, desires and
experiences of its inhabitants. Cities should not be conceived as a unit but rather as the sum of its
inhabitants multiple points of views which, all combined, create a multi faceted perspective (Calvino
1974). Thus, the city is an aggregation of public and private spaces, from which emerges a shared
identity allowing us to live in it. Themes that run throughout the book are desire, memories and signs,
all of which Calvino uses as headings to classify sections of the book. The strong use of imaginative
writing develops the theme of desire within the book. Cities are made up of desires. Polo misses his
homeland, and tells his stories as though each city is female. Thus, the cities become objects of desire.
The theme of desire is male oriented in which the woman is chased. A concept in which is explored
literally, in the city of Zobiede. In Zobiede the street plan is the

this world again. After the battle Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel decide to destroy the stone so that
Voldemort could not get ahold of it at a later date. Since the stone is what was keeping Nicolas Flamel
and his wife alive, they both ended up dying with the destruction of the stone. Like many other aspects
of the Potter series, the Philosopher s Stone has many political links. The most evident display of
political styles seen in the stone is perfectionism. The stone s main uses are for

Use Of Quantitative Trade Models On Aggregate Bilateral...
This paper builds on the previous literature which uses quantitative trade models to determine the
effects of trade barriers on aggregate bilateral trade flows, income, and welfare, including Eaton and
Kortum (2002); Anderson and van Wincoop (2003); Alvarez and Lucas (2007); and Helpman et al.
(2008) and more recent papers that address discrepancies between more traditional quantitative trade
models and the data. 3 The main contribution of my paper to this literature is that it demonstrates how
the workhorse class of quantitative trade models can be generalized to account for the aggregate
effects of non trivial patterns of product level comparative advantage. It does so in a way that
maintains, to a large extent, the tractability and parsimony of this class of models while utilizing the
wealth of information contained in product level trade data, which is available for most of the world s
countries. It also provides succinct and intuitive expressions relating the gains from trade to countries
patterns of product level comparative advantage, allowing for a straightforward decomposition of the
gains from trade into across product and within product components.
This paper is also related to Arkolakis et al. (2012) in that both papers address important features
shared among the literature s workhorse class of quantitative trade models, but we make very distinct
points. Arkolakis et al. (2012) demonstrate that, in this class of models, the welfare gains from trade

Microsoft Publisher to create their own menus, they experience a more constructivist approach. Each
group is encouraged to explore a variety of design options and choose one which will allow them to
work to their strengths. This provides a discovery approach to the design factor and allows the group
to learn through a collaborative exercise, emphasizing principles expressed by Brunner and Vygotsky.
Another example can be seen in Lesson Plan 5 in which the students have been motivated to write an
original story after having heard The Very Hungry Caterpillar and after learning about the
author/illustrator Eric Carle.
These third grade authors are invited to create a story emphasizing good nutritional habits and are
encouraged to do so with no other stipulations. This freedom to capitalize on individual strengths
could produce stories written in prose, a dramatic reading, a musical rendition, or a bound book with
illustrations that have been hand drawn or created with a program such as Kid Pix. The variety of
options available emphasizes Gardner s premise to allow a student s innate abilities to shine.
This trend of the lesson beginning as behaviorist in nature and progressing toward a more

Military Porter s Five Forces
Military defense contractors like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon, General Dynamics, and the
lesser known United Technologies Corporation take a tremendous amount of criticism for their
supposed contribution to military conflicts. This is of course an understandable sentiment for people to
have regarding these companies. These arms manufacturers traffic in military grade weaponry to
various countries that can then go on to use this equipment to do harm. United Technologies
Corporation, the obvious subject of this paper, has recently faced harsh criticism, and even legal
ramifications, for selling military equipment on the Asian market. The reasoning behind this criticism
comes from the fact that selling arms to these Asian nations could ... Show more content on

There is the argument however, that the tensions between Asian countries exist for other reasons, and
arms manufacturers are simply fulfilling a need on a global market. An example of this is in a conflict
that has dominated international news stories in recent years, and that is the disputed claims over the
South China Sea. This is yet another complicated issue, but to sum it up briefly the South China Sea
(known as the East Sea in Vietnam, and the West Sea in the Philippines) is contested, predictability, by
China, Vietnam, the Philippines, and other Asian countries. Most of the debate stems from which
nations owns the rights to exploit the resources of the area, and claims over various islands. Siemon
Wezeman of the SIPRI Arms and Military Expenditure Program had this to say regarding the South
China Sea conflict s responsibility in increasing arms procurement by Asian countries, There are
several large countries in Asia that will keep importing at high levels, and many smaller ones that also
will do so. Most have substantial ongoing arms procurement contracts for imported weapons or have
new contracts signed already. This alone will keep Asia s arms imports

The Cave And Eatting Summary
The two stories in which we discuss today are The Cave and Eatting; both of them are related in
character, tone, and setting, (for the most part). The characters of the Stories, Sissy and Russell, are in
sharp contrast of each other. While both of them can be perceived as introverts, Russel is much more...
Well for the lack of better word, un disciplined and almost childlike in behavior. For example in this
scene in the Eatting, The mule looked as if had come to inspect something... Russell handed him one
end of a roll of toilet paper, which the mule took... and then walked away carefully, gently, drawing
the toilet paper out... There was really no reason for him to do this; he just wanted to do for its own
sake. Also in this story Russell is described as eating out a whole restaurant of their eggs, and just
being all around gluttonous. In contrast, Sissy is much more reserved and in control of her desires
often having to give in to Russell s demands, like in The Cave where Russell wants sex every five
seconds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Defining Racism

Professor Harris
Response Paper: Defining Racism
In this article by Beverly Daniel Tatum, she uses her various life experiences to show the issues that
come along with attempting to define racism in America. There are several external issues that come
not only from defining racism, but with separating racism from prejudice. In dispelling preconceived
notions that these two words are interchangeable, Tatum makes several distinctions in the meaning
and application of the two words in everyday life. Before going further into the separating factors of
the two words, Tatum discusses how unintentional our prejudices can be. Throughout her article,

According to her, prejudice is an inescapable product of the racist soceity in America. She goes on to
further explain the evolution of internalized oppression, which is when members of stereotyped
groups internalizes and perpetuates the stereotyped categories of his or her group. In addressing the
issue of intenalized oppression, Tatum gives some responsibility for the state of racism to the very
people who suffer from it.
In the article, Tatum uses the definition of racism that is given by David Wellman in his book Portraits
of White Racism, which says that racism is a system of advantage based on race (Tatum, 1997). This
definition is something that I found to be very interesting. In many cases, racism is not defined to
include the advatages that come from its existance. Instead racism is seen as a singular act, and never
as a wholistic system that subtly disadvantages a specific group of people. When discussing how to
end racism, no one ever gives solutions to erradicate the subleminal and covert racism that permeates
every system from education to healthcare, because that would shoot down the ideal that in America is
an equal and fair place for achieving one s dreams.
In the last section of her article, Tatum address whether or not racism is exclusive to Whites or
whether it is applicable to all people regardless of race. In this section, she is very specific is stating

Parent Child Relationships Essay
The purpose of this paper is to observe the interactions of a parent child dyad and apply aspects of the
theories studied in class to the observation. Since my experience working with families is limited to
brief interactions with infant children and their mothers, I have chosen to base my analysis off of With
or Without You: A Memoir by Domenica Ruta (2013). This is a relevant topic because the parent child
relationship provides significant context for human development. In order to understand its influences,
we must view parenting contributions from a variety of theoretical perspectives of development,
keeping in mind the role of context and the role of biology. It has been interesting to read Domenica
Ruta s childhood story and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each stage has its own developmental task, unique to each individual experience, that must be faced
and resolved in order to achieve healthy outcomes. For Dominica, her mother would constantly ask
her to fetch things for her (i.e. soup, matches, chocolate milk, etc.), which would distract Domenica
from her school work and assignments. The family also didn t own many books other than those
Domenica brought home from the library. Even though Dominica grew up in a household that was
strewn with garbage and drug paraphernalia, where she was repeatedly told that she was unattractive,
she still developed a love for learning, reading, and was driven to succeed. This event can be
connected to Erikson s fifth stage of developing one s identity or experiencing role confusion. Even
though Dominica faced challenges, she still made an effort in her adolescent and young adult years to
discover her true self and find meaning relevant to her own personhood. While attempting to discover
her own unique identity, Dominica was also influenced by her mother s actions and behavior, which
she mimicked in addition to responding to her mother s requests. In Social Learning Theory, Albert
Bandura proposed that children acquire many skills in the absence of rewards/punishments by
watching and imitating behaviors of others. The premise of this model is based on the idea of
observational learning and modeling, through the parent child relationship.

Ralph Waldo Emerson Self Reliance
In Ralph Waldo Emerson s essay Self Reliance, Emerson discusses the perception of self reliance. Self
reliance to Emerson is a concept of trusting personal thoughts and knowledge opposed to agreeing and
submitting to the preconceived notions already forced upon individuals within a society. Even though
personal beliefs and thoughts can be swayed and influenced by outside forces if one choses to listen to
superficial thoughts, I agree with Emerson that the concept of believing in personal truths is necessary
to maintain the truth and to become more self aware. As individuals rely more on their own personal
beliefs and truths, their understanding of knowledge and happiness can be furthered, by decreasing

but I shall obey God rather than you, and while I have life and strength I shall never cease from the
practice and teaching of philosophy... (Plato 12). Socrates s point is that the he will continue to stay
firm in believing his own personal convictions and dogmas which derived from his own mind, rather
than succeeding to the government s will and listening to the single voice of the majority. Socrates
explains further that knowledge is the truth and he will continue to pursue the truth so as not to allow
the truth to become stagnant and overused as it would be if he did not question his life further.
Socrates exemplifies the model of self reliance through his decision to not only disregard the notions
of society but also in his decision to believe his own ideas and conceptions of what the truth is.
Socrates relies purely on his own personal thoughts. This concept is important because so often
humankind ignores that feeling or conviction deep within themselves. Emerson and Socrates both
strongly argue that in order to fully comprehend what truth and knowledge are, you absolutely must
fully commit yourself to the beliefs within you. Self reliance not only allows for a deeper connection
with the truth and knowledge, but also allows humankind to increase critical examinations of current

Digital Data And The Internet
In today s society, people tend to operate the majority of their everyday tasks through the internet. It is
really simple, comfortable, and it saves a lot of time. In one hour individual can perform a deposit into

The Industrial Revolution And The American Revolution
The industrial revolution was not only technological revolution but a social one that would lie
foundation that would grow the word revolution exponentially. The industrial revolution brought with
it change, whether that change was positive or negative is questionable however it did change the
world as it was known. In both England and the United States of America strong industrial revolutions
struck, the revolutions would change roles in the household and society for both women and me and
the ideologies held about gender roles. In both countries effected by the revolution, industrialization
challenged religion and authority, the impact of which can still be seen today.
The industrial revolution in both the United States and England relied heavily on roles in the
household and society. Men, woman, children and minorities all had a set place in society before the
industrial revolution. During the revolution and sense of enlightenment changed the roles of these
individuals. In the middle of the 1800 s there was change in the role of men, the workplace was no
longer a farm or working in the town, rather men were expected to be entrepreneurs. Men, unlike
woman, were seen as aggressive and built to work in a savage work place were they could bring home
the bread for the family. In England several factory jobs were quite laborious, as well as in the US,
however many emigrants that came to the United States had a different sense of what labor as a man
meant. Labor was no longer

to reveal the true picture of the Italian government, which is corrupted by the people who make and

Total War During World War II
Definition:
What is meant by the concept of Total War? Total war is best described as a country s 100% effort. All
means of production and accomplishment are geared towards what is the best way to win a war.
How was WWII the maximum example of Total War? Most Allies and Axis countries, namely
Germany, had geared their economy towards pouring all their resources into the attempt of winning
the war. In no other war was this done as much as it was during World War II.
Mass Produced Warfare:

By not taking in other factors, and by looking at production amounts only, it is obvious that the Allies
would win. There was no means of resources that the Axis powers excelled in, and had few people
who fought in the war. Both sides of the war had at this time undergone industrial revolutions, had at
least somewhat equal caliber machinery. This means that it would be almost physically impossible for
the Axis to defeat the Allies.
Strategic Bombing:
What do the websites say about the effectiveness of bombing campaigns in disrupting the war effort of
the Axis during WWII? According to the majority of the information on the websites, the bombing
campaigns put in place by the Allies were not very effective. The main goal of the bombing campaigns
were to break the morale of the Axis citizens, specifically Germany. This was done by instead of fully
wiping out cities, leaving them only half damaged to show the power of the armies. However, these
bombings did little to no damage to the will of Germans. People still were willing to support the Nazi
cause. The German economy was very much destroyed, thanks to the bombing efforts, but military
production was still proceeding, as the Germans were prepared for the Total War involved. It is also
stated that as a result of the bombings, Germany s mobility was shrunken, as they could not move as
fast as they wanted.

Ovarian Cancer Research Paper
Ovarian Cancer
Introduction
Ovarian cancer is a disease of an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells that are in the ovaries.
Ovaries produce eggs as well as hormones (estrogen, progestogen). Ovarian cancer is found in women
because they have two ovaries (the size of an almond) located on each side of the ovaries (Ovarian
cancer, 2000). Ovarian Cancer affects a lot of women. Statistics show that the risk of getting and
dying from ovarian cancer is one in ninety five. This cancer is the eighth most common cancer found
in women. Women have a risk of one in sixty five of getting this cancer in their lifetime. Therefore,
there is a lot of research gathered that explains: the pathophysiology, clinical manifestation, and
medical management.

This cancer is found in women and in their ovaries. During the early stages of ovarian cancer there are
typically no symptoms. However, symptoms do tend to appear. Symptoms in the early stages include:
abdominal bloating, abdominal swelling, feeling full quickly, weight loss, discomfort in the pelvis
area, changes in bowel habits such as constipation, and a frequent need to urinate (Norquist, 2007).
However, other symptoms may be present: fatigue, indigestion, heartburn, constipation, back pain,
menstrual irregulates, painful intercourse, and dermatomyositis. This cancer is very hard to identify
with these symptoms. The reason for this is because these symptoms are very vague and can point
physicians to other diagnosis. Therefore, ovarian cancer is best diagnosed in the early stages, so this
will not occur. Ovaries are located deep in the abdominal cavity, so it is very hard to feel a tumor.
Unfortunate, there is no diagnostic screening for ovarian cancer, so reporting any symptoms to a
doctor is very necessary. A doctor may require a pelvic exam if any symptoms are present. A pelvic

Why Is Prince Hamlet Insane
Is Prince Hamlet insane?
If a person walks into a room in a suit, they look professional. If a male walks into a room holding
another males hand, he is presumed to be gay. So if a young man walks into a room, and he wears
sorrow and anger on his face, he must be insane. Yet, if you change your perspective that man wearing
a suit may look professional, until he opens his mouth. The male holding the others hand is not in fact
gay, that is his brother. Hamlet is ideally pretending to be insane, but is his insanity really an act? That
question is answered not at first glance, but at first in depth observation. In some instances of this play
Hamlet does convince many that he is insane.
To begin, in some instances his actions are to great, too bizarre to be an act, so in some moments the
young prince may be a bit off his rocker, but who does not seem a little odd once in a while. After
seeing this play acted out, I came to the conclusion, Hamlet is not in fact mad he is simply human.
Some reasons I think the young prince Hamlet is not insane are, he shows compassion towards many
people; especially the lady Ophelia. The turmoil he has suffered would make any normal person
behave at least semi abnormally, and he works through his emotions in an abnormal way to us, but to
him it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you lose a loved one it is already hard enough, imagine finding out that the death was not
supposed to happen. That the person you lost was deliberately taken away from you. Then to add salt
in the wound, the person who committed the murder is living under your roof, and kissing your
mother, and sleeping in your fathers bed. Wanting revenge is only natural. In Hamlets time death was
the only type of revenge there was. In this century murder in a cruel and unusual punishment, in the
prince s time it was the only way to go. Killing the person who did wrong was the first instinct.
Hamlet desiring Claudius dead was only natural, not mentally insane

Operation Overlord Research Paper
The auditorium was far from full. Several dozen men and women immersed in dozens of
conversations in a hall intended to accommodate hundreds. Some gazed about the cavernous hall,
peered into the empty balcony or glanced at one of the many entrances. Others surveyed the large
stage where with a podium centered in front of plush curtains. For the most part they talked. Their
orders told them to report to the auditorium at 6:45 A.M. They were not to be late.
At 6:45 A.M. the main auditorium lights began to fade engulfing the hall in semi darkness. The stage
curtains parted to reveal a large viewscreen hung from the ceiling. A lone spotlight illuminated the
podium.
When the curtains had opened, an image flashed onto the viewscreen. Against a deep ... Show more

There are times we are called to undertake tasks where the chance of success is low. The task,
however, must still be attempted. We must still strive for success even when it is unlikely or even
impossible. If you do not understand that, you should not be here.
MacGregor paused as more nervous glances were exchanged.
Do not fear failure, but be fearful of hope, he said. Be very fearful of hope. We do not believe in hope.
We believe in planning. We believe in research. We believe in preparation. We plan. We research. We
prepare. We do not hope. We plan for success. We research for success. We prepare for success. We do
not ever hope for success. Ever. I will not tolerate it. If you want hope, go to a church. If you do not
understand that, you should not be here. If you do not understand that, I do not want you here. Good
morning and good hunting.
Robert MacGregor stepped from behind the podium. He walked down the steps at the front of the
stage and onto the main floor. He marched up the center aisle toward the main exit at the rear of the
auditorium. He did so in silence. He did so quickly. Every head turned and followed his withdrawal.
Every head now filled with his words. Every head now filled with his

The second factor is school, my teachers always told me about how amazing engineers are, and how did they help building with other scientists our modern world, until I reached high school when I first studied physics as a single subject. My physics teacher was the most to affect me by teaching me about engines and they work and planting the love of mechanics and engineering into my soul which kept growing with me as I grew older. Thirdly, since I was a kid I have loved mechanics and engines and kept always trying to fix my toy cars, thinking about how they were made, and wanting to drive so badly. Therefore, when was a teenager, I kept asking my older brother to teach me how to drive. Fortunately, my older brother wanted me to learn how to drive quickly in order to throw our house chores on me. Therefore, I kept learning how to drive, and my brother taught me how engines works in simple words, and showed me how to keep maintenance of cars in general and engines in specific. In conclusion, I have always wanted to study Mechanical Engineering for its great job opportunities, my family recommendation, school encouragement, and personal experience. • 3. Manufacturing Consent Manufacturing Consent Questions Avery Reyner September 30, 2012 Manufacturing Consent is a technique of control. Noam Chomsky was first introduced to this concept from an author named Walter Lippmann who wrote about Manufacturer of Consent. Chomsky augmented his concept to Manufacturing Concept and the philosophy has become so popular it later became a documentary film produced by two Canadians. Noam Chomsky has been called arguably the greatest intellectual alive (Fox, 1998) by the New York Times as he not only is a very outspoken professor, he is also an American linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, logician, historian, political critic and activist. The information in this essay was obtained from his video called: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second group is the other 80% of the population. They don t think or pay attention as astutely as do the first 20% and their opinions and thoughts can be somewhat manipulated. According to Chomsky, their main function is to follow orders. The consent of the people is the consent, or opinions being manufactured by the government, and the political system. Their intentions are to manufacture the consent of the people and make sure that their choices and attitudes are altered in such a way that they will always do what is in the government s best interest, which often is the same interest of corporate companies in America. This is what Chomsky meant by propaganda. The methodology Chomsky s used in studying Manufacture of Consent is called the Propaganda Model and it is an institutional analysis of the major media. The major media he studied consisted of The New York Times, The Washington Post and major television channels. Chomsky evaluated them because he believes that by selection of topics, by distribution of concerns, by emphasis and framing of issues, by filtering of information, by bounding of debate within certain limits, they determine, they select, they shape, they control, they restrict in order to serve the interests of dominant, elite groups in the society. (Chomsky, 1992) He also believes that by analysing the institutions it is very obvious they have a goal to make money and the way to make money with a newspaper is to sell ... • 4. Comparative Analysis Of The Estate Tax Essay Comparative Analysis of the Estate Tax First and Last Name Class Number Teacher s Name Date While the Presidential election of 2016 has been non traditional in many ways, one issue that has retained its conventional place in American politics is the debate over the estate tax. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary (2016) the estate tax, labeled the death tax by its opponents, is a tax that a person must pay on an estate (money or property) that he or she inherits. Given the circumstances surrounding the estate tax, usually owed after a family member or close relative has passed way, there can be emotional resentment in regard to its existence and structure. The estate tax also represents a philosophical divide within American political thought. While the effect of the estate tax is confined to only a few thousand wealthy families (Hanlon Steinberg, 2013), it strikes at the core of the contemporary debate over the role of government in American life and what the scope of American s tax system should be. Two prominent political think tanks, The Heritage Foundation and Center for American Progress, have published papers on this issue using argumentation, evidence, and data. Scrutinizing and analyzing these two different arguments on the subject of the estate tax illuminates the current ideological divide within the United States. Center for American Progress is a liberal think tank that does research and analysis on a variety of salient domestic and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. NLRPCHT Case Study NLRPNACHT 3D models showed a typical structural fold and conserved ATP binding motifs Domain analysis revealed that all the NLRP proteins (excluding NLRP10) comprised of three functional domains; N terminal PYD, central NACHT and variable numbers of C terminal LRRs. NLRP1 has two additional domains, FIIND and CARD towards the C terminal region (next to LRR), whereas NLRP10 lacks the LRR (Fig. 1a; Supplementary Table. S1). Consistent with recently resolved structures [mNlrc4 (4KXF) and OcNOD2 (5IRL)], and sequence analysis results, we outlined three functional sub domains of NACHT/NOD modules; (a) the nucleotide binding domain (NDB) positioned after Pyrin domain (PYD), (b) the helical domain 1 (HD1) and (c) the winged helix domain (WHD) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... S3) were considered for further studies (Fig. S1a). A close visual inspection of docked conformations showed a conserved ATP binding pattern except for NLRP5, NLRP8, and NLRP9. Till date, only two ADP bound NLR structures have been resolved experimentally [mNlrc4 (4KXF) and OcNOD2 (5IRN)] and both the structures shared a common nucleotide binding orientation28, 29. Therefore, we adopted the manual approach of docking; where the γ phosphate group of ATP was deeply buried inside the cavity, and adenine moiety was positioned outward (Fig. S1b). To understand the binding mode and dynamic stability of ATP, MD simulations of both the prepared ATP bound NLRPNACHT complexes [complex I (AutoDock) and complex II (manually docked)] were performed for 60ns time scale. Manually docked NLRPNACHT ATP complexes exhibited a good binding stability The experimental evidence suggested that Walker A (GxxxxGK[S/T]) of AAA+ ATPase proteins has the major contribution in nucleotide binding and particularly, it coordinates the β/γ phosphate group of NTPs28 37. To acquire a stable NLRPNACHT ATP complex for interaction analysis, a combined root mean square deviation (RMSD) of Walker A and ATP was calculated, and the result indicated a stable array of deviation in manually docked systems except in NLRP13 (Fig. 2a). Further, we analyzed the total numbers of intermolecular H bonds between ATP and NLRPNACHT from the obtained trajectories as the function of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As someone who is made nervous very easily, I have the awfullest nerves before any audition. So when my acting class decided to work on auditioning, I was somewhat excited. I had prepared a monologue, and I was ready to perform it when the next class rolled around. My name was called, and I was abnormally nervous considering I was surrounded by people I have done much more embarrassing things in front of we all like to forget about the class in which we spent an hour rolling around on the floor in order to connect with out deepest emotions. I finished the paper with time to spare, and also with one page more than I was assigned. I am very much like some sort of speed texting machine, which sounds ridiculous, but it is true. I rarely ever make typos, and I rarely send a message to the wrong person. Though, there was one time in particular that I did the latter, and it ruined all my plans. One of my closest friends, Alec, had a birthday coming up. He begged me not to do anything, he just wanted to have a normal day. Of course, knowing me, Alec should have known to have me make some sort of promise. As it was, I made no such promise, and I made a plan to conspire with his sister, Emmaline, and plan Alec the perfect surprise party. So, I typed up a text for Emma, talking about my plan to surprise Alec. Now, let me get something straight here. I am very close with both Alec and Emma, and different as they may be, they have very similar contact names in my phone; by this, I mean that both of their contact names ... • 8. Laser Tag Is A Team Or Individual Sport Or Recreational... 1. INTRODUCTION Laser tag is a team or individual sport or recreational activity where players attempt to score points by tagging targets, typically with a hand held infrared emitting targeting device. Infrared sensitive targets are commonly worn by each player and are sometimes integrated within the arena in which the game is played. Since its birth in 1979, with the release of the Star Trek Electronic Phasers toy manufactured by the South Bend Electronics brand of Milton Bradley, laser tag has evolved into both indoor and outdoor styles of play, and may include simulations of combat, role play style games, or competitive sporting events including tactical configurations and precise game goals. is a game which resembles paint ball, the only difference is that it is played using harmless laser guns. Indoor laser tag is typically played in a large arena (may be dark or may not) run by a commercial laser tag operator. The packs are tightly integrated with the devices inside the arena. The arena devices, and the packs themselves may be linked into a control computer for scoring and control over game parameters using radio equipment or infrared links. The game computer often serves to control other game effects and to manage player scores. Though the guns used in commercially played laser tags have lasers they are not used in actual mechanism of the game, they actually use infrared to register hits. However, recent years have seen the release of animated films that s explore significantly more adult themes and thought provoking ideas. Perhaps the most confronting example of adult themes in an animated film is in 2016 s Zootopia . The film forces viewers to think about concepts such as racial segregation, nature vs. nurture and the debilitating effect of stereotyping. Although Zootopia features anthropomorphic animals, it is easy to draw a connection between the films prey vs. predator narrative and racial divide in our own society. Examples of discrimination are prevalent throughout the entire narrative towards both predators and prey. For example, Judy Hopps is consistently underestimated and ridiculed in her endeavours to become the first bunny cop . However, the most blatant instance of discrimination is illustrated in a flashback scene to the childhood of Nick Wilde. When we are introduced to Nick, it is revealed he is a con artist and guilty of fraud. Essentially he embodies the shifty and untrustworthy stereotypes that are linked to foxes. Although, during the second act we learn about Nick s past as a young fox with dreams of joining the junior rangers troop. As a predator, the prey dominant troop rejects Nick, shoving him too the ground and putting a muzzle on him, stating if you thought we d ever trust a fox without a muzzle, you re even dumber then you look . Thus, from that moment, Nick heads down a life of deviance. Nick divulges to Judy that the experience taught him that if the world s only going to see a fox as shifty and untrustworthy, there is no point at trying to be anything else . This scene stands out as the most emotional and effective scene in the film through its utilization of sound, contrast, and flashback. • 11. The Cause And Causes Of Pulmonary Hypertension Introduction Pulmonary hypertension is high blood pressure within the arteries in your lungs (pulmonary arteries). It is different from having high blood pressure elsewhere in your body, such as blood pressure that is measured with a blood pressure cuff. Pulmonary hypertension makes it harder for blood to flow through the lungs. As a result, the heart must work harder to pump blood through the lungs, and it may be harder for you to breathe. Over time, this can weaken the heart muscle. Pulmonary hypertension is a serious condition and it can be fatal. What are the causes? This condition is caused by many different medical conditions. Pulmonary hypertension can be categorized by cause into five groups: Group 1. Pulmonary hypertension that is caused by abnormal growth of small blood vessels in the lungs (pulmonary arterial hypertension). The abnormal blood vessel growth may have no known cause, or it may be: Passed along from a parent (hereditary). Caused by another disease, such as a connective tissue disease (including lupus or scleroderma) or HIV. Caused by certain drugs or toxins. Group 2. Pulmonary hypertension that is caused by weakness of the main chamber of the heart (left ventricle) or heart valve disease. Group 3. Pulmonary hypertension that is caused by lung disease or low oxygen levels. Causes in this group include: Emphysema or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Untreated sleep apnea. • 12. Finding Truth In Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself The Romantic Period was a time very different from that of the previous movement, the Enlightenment. It was a time for creativity and it was a time of unity in nature and within themselves. During the Enlightenment, science and reason prevailed. Everything had set rules on how it should be and how people should act in their private and public lives. Truth was static and never changing until the Romantic Movement. Truth changed and was based on an individual s experience. Whereas during the Romantic period. Transcendentalists were people found during this time who, according to A Handbook to Literature, believed in finding truth within oneself where individuals could hear the voice of God. They believed each person should find his or her own path to walk with God instead of relying on an institution. This differed from the ideals of the Enlightenment in that during the Enlightenment, some believed that science was all the God one needed. Science was the place truth and knowledge was found, and there was no place in science for God. Dionysus, the god of wine, fertility, and music is found throughout the works of Romantic authors and is seen as an opposition to reason from the Enlightenment. To start with, the process of outsourcing involves obtaining services or products from an outside source in order to reduce the cost of that service or product. By taking advantage of this process, the economy of the United States saw an increase as production prices decreased. Students at San Pasqual High School created a music video outlining the major concepts of microeconomics while at the same time relating each lesson to the real world, albeit in a humorous manner. The application of these ideas in the video ranged from determining the price of gas to finding a dance partner. The concepts addressed by the students including market structures, government intervention, elasticity, and scarcity, that all hold value in everyday life and an understanding of their importance can contribute significant benefits to the power of the consumer within the market. To begin, one of the first concepts introduced by the video was that of market structures. Market structures are categorized as a result of variables that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a consumer, knowledge of the various market structures allows for the understanding of the motivations and decisions made by certain firms, and can assist in the making of calculated purchases. For instance, the student in the video hypothesized that gas prices were rising because multiple gas firms within an oligopoly were colluding and artificially raising prices. With this information, one can choose to take their purchase to another firm who does not appear to be colluding and purchase a substitute good for a cheaper price. If enough consumers are aware of the strategies utilized by firms within markets structures such as monopolies and oligopolies, action can be taken in order to prevent costs of goods from reaching levels that only benefit producers. The power that each consumer s purchase holds is often underestimated, and if used wisely, can help to create a market that fosters innovation and rewards firms with fair prices. The next major topic the video focused upon was elasticity. Elasticity is a measure of how sensitive producers and consumers to changes in price of a good or a service. If a good/service is elastic, willingness to purchase changes significantly with a small change in price. Conversely, if a good/service is inelastic, the market does not react very much in response to a change in price. The concept of elasticity was introduced in the music video when a student was attempting to get away ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Invisible Cities By Italo Calvino Italo Calvino s (1923 1985) novel Invisible Cities consists of a number of dialogues between traveller Marco Polo and the Tartar Emperor Kublai Khan. Traveller Marco Polo tells Kublai Khan tales of the numerous cities of his empire, which the Khan himself will never visit. The men play with the notion that an understanding of the world s cities will inform the emperor on how to govern his realm (Bloom 2001). Each city cannot be compared, as they are all radically different from one another. Calvino explores the concept of cities as a collective construction, made up of the memories, desires and experiences of its inhabitants. Cities should not be conceived as a unit but rather as the sum of its inhabitants multiple points of views which, all combined, create a multi faceted perspective (Calvino 1974). Thus, the city is an aggregation of public and private spaces, from which emerges a shared identity allowing us to live in it. Themes that run throughout the book are desire, memories and signs, all of which Calvino uses as headings to classify sections of the book. The strong use of imaginative writing develops the theme of desire within the book. Cities are made up of desires. Polo misses his homeland, and tells his stories as though each city is female. Thus, the cities become objects of desire. The theme of desire is male oriented in which the woman is chased. A concept in which is explored literally, in the city of Zobiede. It does so in a way that maintains, to a large extent, the tractability and parsimony of this class of models while utilizing the wealth of information contained in product level trade data, which is available for most of the world s countries. It also provides succinct and intuitive expressions relating the gains from trade to countries patterns of product level comparative advantage, allowing for a straightforward decomposition of the gains from trade into across product and within product components. This paper is also related to Arkolakis et al. In addressing the issue of intenalized oppression, Tatum gives some responsibility for the state of racism to the very people who suffer from it. In the article, Tatum uses the definition of racism that is given by David Wellman in his book Portraits of White Racism, which says that racism is a system of advantage based on race (Tatum, 1997). This definition is something that I found to be very interesting. In many cases, racism is not defined to include the advatages that come from its existance. Instead racism is seen as a singular act, and never as a wholistic system that subtly disadvantages a specific group of people. When discussing how to end racism, no one ever gives solutions to erradicate the subleminal and covert racism that permeates every system from education to healthcare, because that would shoot down the ideal that in America is an equal and fair place for achieving one s dreams. If a male walks into a room holding another males hand, he is presumed to be gay. So if a young man walks into a room, and he wears sorrow and anger on his face, he must be insane. Yet, if you change your perspective that man wearing a suit may look professional, until he opens his mouth. The male holding the others hand is not in fact gay, that is his brother. Some reasons I think the young prince Hamlet is not insane are, he shows compassion towards many people; especially the lady Ophelia.
