A Feministic View on Jackson’s Short Stories †the
Lottery’...
Shirley Jackson is most famous for her short story The Lottery and her novel The Haunted House .
She has been applauded for her fresh approach towards American Gothic writing. There are many
works dedicated to the gothic elements her stories contain. However, most critics overlooked the
feminist elements that most of her stories have. The two short stories discussed in this essay both
have female characters who are outsiders in their society. Careful examination of the protagonists
course of action, setting, and symbolic references Shirley Jacksonput in both of the stories shows
that the female protagonist in both The Lotteryand The Tooth should be considered as a woman
with a feminist attitude towards a male dominated society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, towards the end of the story Tessie transforms into a different woman once her family
is chosen. The next passage indicates Tessie s transformation when all of the sudden, Tessie
Hutchinson shouts to Mr. Summers, You didn t give him time enough to take any paper he
wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair! (298). Her husband did not receive an honest treatment
according to Tessie, which will eventually lead to her downfall. Now that she is the victim, there
is a significant change in attitude towards the town and its tradition. She is no longer a good
natured woman who finds the lottery on great joke, instead, she stands up to this old tradition
and is more nervous and aggressive than ever before in the story. This is the complete opposite
of what we first saw of Tessie, a simple woman concerned more with her dishes than the lottery.
The character of Tessie, in the end of the story, is fully aware of the consequences of this same
lottery and she protests against the tradition which is so deeply rooted in her society. Because of
the first impression of Tessie the reader would have expected her to just shrug her shoulders,
instead Tessie does completely the opposite and stands up for her own rights. In The Tooth Clara

Their Eyes Were Watching God By Zora Neale Hurson Analysis
In 1791 Thomas Paine wrote the book Rights of Man in which Paine illustrates his thoughts on
the unity of the American people. Walter Russell, however, says America has always been a
division of man. There has always been the conqueror and conquered the master and slave the
ruler and the ruled the oppressor and the oppressed. There has never been content nor unity.
There has been only discontent and disunity . While in the United States there are people similar
to Thomas, who believe and strive for freedom and diversity, there are also those who Walter
Russell illustrates that promote racism, violence, and disunity. I mostly disagree with Thomas
Paine because, while there are times of peace; justice; and concord, there are far greater
instances of oppression, privilege, and riots. Two examples of oppression in the America come
from the book Their Eyes Were Watching God written by Zora Neale Hurston. Janie, a black
woman living in the post civil war South, is oppressed by her husband, Logan Killicks, when he
yells at her, Ah ll take holt uh dat ax and come in dere and kill yuh! You better dry up in dere! Ah
m too honest and hard workin for anybody in yo family, dat s de reason you don t want me! (38).
Logan disrespects his wife and puts her below him by saying he is more honest and diligent than
her and her family, showing oppression in the America on a personal level with husband and wife.
An example of oppression on a more communal level is with Jody, the mayor

Triad
Our nation s nuclear weapons are very complex and large organization system. The main
responsibility falls on the executive branch of the government. There are multiple departments
within the executive branch that handle this. They are the Departments of Defense, Energy,
Commerce, State, and Homeland Security. The Department of Defense oversees all of the nation s
armed forces and this includes those that are specially trained to handle nuclear devices. During the
height of the Cold Warthe leaders of the Department of Defense, constructed a plan to be able to
fend off any nuclear attack from the Soviet Union. They came up with what is known as the Triad.

They are responsible for the negotiation of nuclear armament treaties. The main goal of the
Department is to limit the manufacturing and spread of nuclear weapons, this practice is known as
nonproliferation (White House). This Department has recently been in the news for a proposed
nuclear deal with Iran. The deal has yet to be voted upon by Congress, but it is becoming
increasingly unpopular with high ranking military officers (Washington Post). The Department of
Homeland Security was made by President Bush, in response to the terrorist attacks that occurred
on 11 September 2001. The main responsibility of this Department is to monitor the activities of
incoming travelers and cargo. This can lead to stopping the smuggling of contraband and even
nuclear weapons. A subordinate agency of the Department of Homeland Security is the Federal
Emergency Management Agency, better known as FEMA. FEMA is responsible for coordinating
a response to a disaster on U.S. soil; this includes a nuclear detonation (DHS). There are many

Functionalism, Conflict Theory, And Symbolic Interactionism
Global poverty is one of the biggest epidemics that many countries face today. In this paper I will
first explain functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. Secondly, I will explain
the different causes of global poverty. Thirdly, I will collect my own data to explain poverty in one
country. Finally, I will identify the idea of ethnocentric and culturally relative.
First and foremost, there are three types of theories that can be applied to global poverty which are
functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. To start off with functionalism is when
a society comes together and works as a whole. Next, we have conflict theory where some theorist
says it happens when a society competes with one another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Next, another example is when our country help a low poverty that have a great outcome of
resources we tell them what to give us in return and how much to give it to us for. That causes a
substantial deal of conflict because we are taking their resources that they need to make money
for their country in order to survive. Finally, some places like South Africa had a system in
which you weren t able to move up to a higher position in which you are only able to obtain the
position in which you are born into. South Africa s system was called a caste system, it is no
longer illegal, however; it is still enforced daily. When this caste system was a law, then people of
lower status were not able to interact with those who were deemed higher than them, and there
were some instances when they were not allowed outside at the same time they were. If your
shadows had crossed or if you had accidentally had touched them, then they were considered
unclean. This would fit under functionalism because they all worked together to keep this system in
place.
In addition, poverty in Kenya is a humongous epidemic, however; most of the poverty that is
seen there is more in the rural area. Most of the work that is available for people in Kenya are
farming and agriculture so when there is a disaster that ruins crops they no longer have a job. Even

Donald Trump s Views On Outsourcing
Outsourcing leads to a loss of jobs in a developed country which harm the economy of the western
country going through high unemployment rate. With this, jobless people, are forced to work for
lower wages at jobs beneath their potential, and that resulting in a lower standard of living because
of the limit on money they earn. But, what the United Statesof America needs is a new leader to
guide its people through this tough time and bring reformation for jobless people and those
working beneath their maximum potential. A leader who will defy the status quo, doesn t care
about pleasing others, and is quick to make decisions that will create a great impact. Most people

Outsourcing may not be his number one priority, but he is the only one candidate in the
presidential election to take action and make a public stance against china on manufacturing
plants and outsourcing of jobs by major corporations. All the Democrats criticize and find
objections to disapprove of Donald Trump so much because he is outspoken and because of his
immigration policy, he is thrown away and despised of. Because of one issue that many disagree
with is so high, people chose to not vote for him and believe he would create a disaster. Trump
has many radical like ideas, but only to ultimately Make america great again. Additionally,
Trump also has a clothing line and a collection and has manufacturing in China, but Trump is
ready to go against himself if that is what it takes to do what is best for America, as that is how
he sees it. He strictly believes that for the betterment of America, he shall bring change to his
company also and the laws will apply to him also to set an example. Due to one controversial
issue, of a wall to be built to keep Mexicans from illegally entering the US, or the dislike for
Muslim people, because they have become a great threat, unable to identify who is good and
bad, all of the great ideas are thrown away with him due to his outspoken views. Trump would
like to keep Social Security or Medicare benefits, and grow the economy to save these programs.

Between 2001 and 2013, the U.S. goods trade deficit with China increased by $240.1 billion and
over the 2001 2011 period, U.S. workers who were directly displaced by trade with China lost a
collective $37 billion in wages as a result of accepting other lower paying jobs (Outsourcing to

The Character Of Adah Price In The Poisonwood Bible
Being different isn t a bad thing. It just means you re brave enough to be yourself (Luna

character symbolizes difference, bravery and passion. Barbara Kingsolver uses these characteristics
to develop the character. In the beginning, Adah Price is introduced with a condition called
hemiplegia. The paralyzation of one side of the body. She is the only one of the family to have an
abnormal condition. Not only does this makes her different from the rest of her family, but her
challenges more challenging. Having hemiplegia is not the only thing that makes Adah different.
She is the smartest and most analytical of her family. Although, anyone else around her would not

Fifty years later, in 1973 one of the largest televised matches in history happened. According to
from an article written in 2013, Jesse Greenspan recapped, On September 20th, 1973, Billie Jean
King was known all around the world as ranked no.1 women s tennis player. At 55 years old, a
tennis legend named Bobby Riggs stated he could beat any women player. King was up for the
challenge, and the way Riggs got ready was to make rude and unnecessary comments. Jesse
Greenspan recalled, Riggs made things more interesting by saying rude comments, including that
the best way to handle a woman is to keep her pregnant and barefoot. Before the match took place,
the comment made about how to handle a woman wasn t right. He was saying how women only
should be used to make children and follow their husbands. After the match, however, those things
no longer apply. This match really made women become somewhat recognizable in the sports
industry. For Billie Jean King to stand up to a man that was being arrogant showed she had a lot of

Disneyland Is The Most Successful Amusement Park
Disneyland is the most successful amusement park in the world. Since the original park opened in
1955 more than a half billion people have visited the Disney theme parks worldwide, making it the
most visited theme park in history. It is a symbol of global Americanization and cultural
expansionism. American pop culture is prevalent all over the world and Disneyland is the perfect
representation of this notion. Tourist from all over the world come to America and enjoy the
Disney theme park experience and soon enough new Disneyland parks will be built around the

Tokyo Disneyland
Once Disney discovered the amount of Japanese tourist that visited the Disneyland parks in
America, it was inevitable that the Disney Corporation would build a theme park overseas. In
1962, the Japanese company, Oriental Land Co. (OLC) approached Disney with the idea of
building a theme park in Japan. The Walt DisneyCompany licensed Disney characters and other
copyrighted material to Tokyo Disneyland; however, Oriental Land Co. owns and operates the
amusement park.
Tokyo Disneyland was built on the reclaimed land in the Tokyo bay area and was predominantly
designed after the Walt Disney World resortin Orlando, Florida. It was marketed that it was a

and Disney products inside the park. OLC s objective was to create the feeling that visitors would

Parking Problems At The New Residence Halls
Parking on campus is a recurring problem throughout the years, but the most recent of these
problems has evolved into a catastrophe for and not so much for others. As the fall term came
into place, more and more parking was taken away for the new residence halls. Students
regularly admit to hoping other students would hurry and drop some of their classes, or that the
students will go ahead and stop coming to lectures so there is more parking available and less of
a burden. However, the burden of circling parking lots and the never ending loop of frustrating
continues on for the fall term and more is to come with the lack of parking the campus wishes to
offer. The OU Daily has released statements in articles concerning the matter. The new residence
halls will also provide a parking garage or parking lotin which has a capacity of 1200 1300 parking
spots. This is a nice edition for the lack of parking, but the new residence hall took the place of an
old parking lot which held the capacity of 500 600 parking spots. Yes, the parking is nearly
doubled, but what good will that doubled number do in comparison to the number of students
(approximately twenty two times the quantity of parking spaces provided in said lot). The new
residence halls may further establish a slightly more extensive parking lot than previously seen on
campus, but the couple hundred more spots available is minuscule in comparison to the quantity of
students and faculty members at the university. The amount

Effects of Surfactants on Suppository Absorption Essay...
Suppositories are the frequently used dosage forms prescribed through rectal route. However,
suppositories have the limitation of prolonged onset of action which can be attributed to poor drug
release properties of suppository base. Surfactants can increase the drug release to aid absorption by
reducing the interfacial tension between rectal fluids and the suppositorybase. The objective of this
study was to examine the effect of different concentrations of sodium lauryl sulphate and tween 80
on the drug release of paracetamol from suppositories of palm kernel base (HAMINВ®). Sodium
lauryl sulphate (SLS) and tween 80 were used in this study to examine their effect on the drug

Drugs are incorporated into suitable suppository bases which may be fatty base or water soluble
base to form suppositories into suitable shape to be inserted into the rectum. [3] In the rectum, the
suppositories release their drug content by melting at body temperature or dissolving in rectal
mucous secretion to be diffused across the rectal epithelium into the mucosa that is abundantly
vascularised. [4] The drug can be absorbed through the middle and inferior rectal veins into
systemic circulation by passing the hepatic first pass metabolism, which gives the rectal route of
administration an extra advantage. Paracetamol is a well known drug for its analgesic and
antipyretic activity. It is available in oral, rectal and intravenous dosage form. The most common
route of administration is the oral route as paracetamol is being absorbed well through this route
with the bioavailability of 63 89%. [5] The absorption half life through oral route is 4.5 minutes
with no lag time. [6] The rectal form of paracetamol is mainly intended to be used in children as
they have difficulty in swallowing oral medication. The bioavailability of paracetamol
administered through rectal route is in the range of 24 98%, depending on the suppositories
physical composition with 35 minutes of mean absorption half life and 40 minutes of lag time. The
rectal absorption of paracetamol is poor compared to oral route. [7] Studies showed that there is a

School Uniform And School Uniforms
School Uniform
School uniforms keep students focused on their education not in their clothings. When all students
are wearing the same outfit, they are less concerned about how they look and how they fit in with
their peers. It s easier for parent and students do not spend time choosing appropriate outfit for
school day. It helps students can only concentrate on their schoolwork. Education is one of the big
institutions for every kid that go to school. Also education is the roots that will help people the rest
of their lives and will bright in their future. Many people believe that each school should have its
own uniform not only to show their pride for their school, but also to prevent attacks by students
from one particular school on students from a rival school. School with uniform is students can t
attempts to skip because when someone see them in public with their uniform they can report them
to the authorities, which will create big problems at home and at school. School uniform has acted
as a deterrent to truancy. Students with uniform show more respectful and doesn t seem bad for
others. Uniform can enforced a positive attitude for students. School with uniform make other
people see organize and look professional. Also it keep school safe and out of troubles. Many
students with uniform are more self esteem. School have less violence, no gang sign of the shirt,

Dietary triggers should be avoided. Migraine diary can be kept and symptom and probable triggers

Wendel Meyer says of the Damascus Road Incident,
...the scene is so powerful, so vivid and tangible, that it is easy for it to become the window
through which we view and engage the concept of Paul s conversion. In truth, however, we know
that that singular moment as dramatic and important as it proved to be, was only the first
instilment of the conversion of ... Paul.[4] It is important to note that it did not take Saul long to
form his theological ideas after the Damascus Road Incident. There was no massive change in
beliefs that Saul had to go through. What changed in him was an additional piece added into what
he already knew to be true. The Hebrew Scriptures that formed Saul s beliefs had not been re
written. They were simply fulfilled, as Mathew 5:17 states, Do not think that I have come to abolish
the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.[5]
Paul s Life and Teachings
People had no idea what to make of the new Saul of Tarsus. Surely his behavior was a trick, a trap
to find Christians and kill them too. The reactions and emotions that rose up against Saul in the
beginning of his journey are logical and reasonable. Everyone was terrified of him. Here was the
man famous far and wide for killing people who claimed to follow a man named Jesus. Here he
was, standing in the temple preaching Jesus.

How Did Walt Disney Use The Unions

Donald Duck, who was created during this time, as an outlet for his frustrations with the

Although it may not seem so extreme, it may actually be the cause of the extinction of plants and
animals in the surrounding ecosystem. In fact, humans are contributing to this problem by planting
it for its colorful appearance. Due to these startling effects, the French broom snafu must be solved.
There are many reasons why this is an issue that is threatening others. Firstly, French broom kills
off other plants and animals, which is the reason that a great deal of species are dying. French
broom also sucks out all the nutrients from the soil, which is harmful for other species of plants
that are struggling to grow. However, French broom is a threat not just to plants and animals, but
to humans as well. For instance, it can cause wildfires by overcrowding and drying out the area.
These invasive plants can also affect the climate of certain areas, which is a factor causing global

How NAFTA has affected the financial service industries...
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was enacted in November of 1993 with
aims to facilitate the free flow of goods, services and labor between the United States, Canada and
Mexico. The ratification of NAFTA created the world s largest free market with roughly 390
million consumers and an estimated total output of $8.6 trillion. Clearly, this trade alliance has had
a major influence on the financialservice industries of the participating nations and will continue to
do so in the future. However, the financial service provisions of NAFTA will have sufficiently
greater implications for Mexico than either the United States or Canada. This is in part because
Mexico is embarking upon a greater shift towards openness in its... Show more content on

These had left U.S. banks relatively less competitive in the world market. Since the Gramm Leach
Bliley Act (1999) amended the Glass Steagall Act, many financial institutions have made steps
towards offering a full range of financial services and greatly increased their market share.
Overall, the U.S. advantage from NAFTA is its virtually unlimited access to the Mexican market,
which has been an incentive for the United States to restructure its domestic banking system. In the
long run, NAFTA will help develop U.S. banking to compete not only in the NAFTA area but in
other world markets as well. Another benefit of NAFTA will be increased opportunities for U.S.
and Canadian financial service companies (via the joint venture route), which will necessitate
foreign companies to overcome cultural and language barriers. A wide variety of U.S. firms with
existing investments in Mexico will be able to acquire previously prohibited majority ownership,
including 100 percent ownership, in their investments. New U.S. entrants in many Mexican markets
may start their own wholly owned firms in Mexico
The greatest effect that the NAFTA financial service agreement has had on Canada is the
liberalization of their financial sector. Many banks and financial institutions have been increasing in
size through mergers and acquisitions. In 2001, the Royal Bank of Canada acquired Centura Banks

This policy was monumental in the fight of human trafficking because it formalized the overall

Call Of The Wild Fittest Analysis
Some people and animals just weren t fit for the Klondike. In the adventure story The Call of the
Wild by Jack London, there is a dog named Buck that goes from domesticated in Santa Clara
Valley, California to the Klondike during the Yukon gold rush. Buck quickly learns the ways of
the North land like the Law of Club and Fang. Not all the dogs and people that Buck traveled
with were fit for the Klondike. In the The Call of the Wild the theme of survival of the fittest
shines through from the dogs to the people. One of the first ways the theme of survival of the
fittest is shown is when one of the dogs on Bucks sled dogteam named Curly was attacked by other
dogs and killed. On the sled dogs journey they stop to sleep and rest, but one of the times that they
stopped they got something they didn t expect. One of the dogs named Curly was really friendly
and went over to see the other dogs that weren t on her sled dog s team. Curly then got attacked
by dogs that she had never met. But she lay there limp and lifeless in the bloody, trampled snow,
almost literally torn to pieces, the Swart half breed standing over her and cursing horribly
(London 17). This proves that survival of the fittest was in The Call of the Wild because some
dogs just weren t fit for the Klondike. Like Curly and many other dogs and some people were
just not fit for the Yukon. Some dogs and people just didn t have the characteristics to survive in
the Yukon, some changed their characteristics like Buck did and some like Curly thought that all
the dogs were nice like she had known before. Another reason to show survival of the fittest is in
The Call of the Wild is when one of the other dogs on the sled team named Dolly got rabbis by
starving huskies that tried to raid their camp for food. When the starving huskies tried to raid
Buck s sled teams camp for their food they ended up giving Dolly rabies. Once Dolly got the
rabbis she started to chase Buck but when they got back around by where the sled dog owners
then took an ax to Dolly s head. The dog driver held the ax poised in his hand, and as Buck shot
past him the ax crashed down upon mad Dolly s head (London 34). This shows that during this
scene, Dolly was not

п‚џFrederick Douglass runaway and freed slave, eloquent speaker who claimed slavery was a sin
п‚џSojourner Truth runaway and freed slave, journeyed around preaching for abolition
п‚џAngelina and Sarah Grimke objected male opposition to their antislavery work
п‚џLucretia Mott firmly campaigned after getting barred from an antislavery convention
п‚џElizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony campaigned for women s right to vote, property

Chemical Properties Of Unknown White Compound
Abstract Unknown white compound (823U) was discovered in the lab. In order to dispose of it
correctly, the substance and its physical and chemical properties had to be identified. The
unknown white compound was one of a list of 15 compounds. 5g of the unknown compound were
given in order to correctly identify and discover its physical and chemical properties. In order to do
so, a solubilitytest, a flametest, and ion tests were conducted. From the results of these initial tests
and the given list of compounds, the unknown white compound was thought to be composed of
sodiumand a halide (I , Br , or Cl ). Of the list, NaCl was the appropriate compound, however
NaC2H3O3 was also tested out of skepticism. To verify the identity of the substance, the solubility
and flame tests were performed again along with a pH test. The pH tests of NaCl and NaC2H3O2
did not match that of the unknown white compound. The list of compounds had been entirely ruled
out. The identity of the unknown white compound was revealed to be calcium chloride. To
synthesize at least a gram (calculated to produce 1.2g) of CaCl2, the following reaction was
completed.
2 HCl + CaCO3+heat CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O
To verify that CaCl2 was the compound that had been synthesized, the compound was tested with
the flame test, solubility test, halide ion test, and pH test. CaCl2 was confirmed to be the
synthesized compound as the results of these tests matched the results of the unknown white
compound.Introduction

In addition, Beacon needs to educate the staff on how to avoid discriminating or stereotyping
against this population. Beacon should have a policy and procedures pamphlet outlined and
attached to the agency manual on how to treat people with dignity and respect. Furthermore, The
Beacon should implement a service first policy that will enable them to offer services without
showing partiality to any gender. This change in policy and procedures will include acceptance
positive rules of the transgender population. This change will make it necessary for The Beacon
Day Center to receive additional funding through Gala that will allow an increase in training staff.
This change will assist with the restructuring of their current staff and implement roles that will

Were Watching God Figurative Language
In William Shakespeare s The Tempest, A storm is responsible for creating an epoch in Prospero s
life. Likewise, the hurricane in Zora Neale Hurston s Their Eyes Were Watching God also
represents a watershed in Janie s life. Both Shakespeare and Hurston use the storm to symbolize
creation and regeneration among their protagonists. Hurston, however, uses figurative language to
enhance features of the storm, creating a mood for the reader. Hurston uses imagery and
personifications to establish varying moods throughout Their Eyes Were Watching God
.
For example, Hurston s use of imagery helps to establish the varying moods within the novel.
While beginning to tell her story to Phoeby, Janie describes the growth of the pear tree that she
grows fond of throughout her childhood: From barren brown stems to glistening leaf buds; from
the leaf buds to snowy virginity of bloom (Hurston 10). Janie tells how the pear tree from a
mundane tree to one blooming with excitement. This also follows Janie s path from childhood to
womanhood. The imagery of the pear tree presents a serene mood the follow along the plot of the
novel for some time. Word choice such as glistening and snowy creates a peaceful situation in
which suits Janie s childhood. Later in her adult life, Janie becomes attracted to Tea Cake to the
point where she can t bear to be without him: He did not return that night nor the next, and so she

Death is inevitable, it is an eternity theme of human even though not many people want to face

human life, which is death. The book edifies to the reader that without death, life could not be
precious and attractive because people would just be taking it for granted. The novel can be
interpreted differently by two different types of reader; a reader who is experienced with true
despair and a reader who is inexperienced with true despair. A reader who is experienced with true

The Passions Of The Man
The Passions of the Man We exist in an artificial world created from our passions. Uncontrollable
as they may seem, our natural inclinations and mental faculties have actually effected immense
social change on both a physical and mental level. As oxymoronic as it may seem, it is ultimately
our innate passions that both drive conflict and allow for cooperative endeavor, and Thomas Hobbes
s masterful 17th century work Leviathancaptures this point beautifully. His passions are a kind of
internal motion related to one s will and encompass character traits, moods, or ephemeral states of
being such as sudden glory causing laughter. Hobbes uses the idea of passions as a motivating

Unfortunately, we live in the natural world. Far from perfect. Our passions do not even come close
to fitting us in the perfect world. In fact, they prevent its existence. The nature of man then is one of
passions and thusly, one of war. According to Hobbes, the nature of war consisteth not in actual
fighting, but in the known disposition thereto during all the time there is no assurance to the
contrary. (13) War is not a state of fighting, it is a state of being; specifically a state of being in
which safety and protection of one s life or happiness are close to non existent. Coupled with the
very real ideas of exhaustible resources and the will to survive, this war or natural world is then
populated by beasts unreasoned beings dominated by their psyches and unable to coexist in a
society. Hobbes concluded that in the nature of man, we find three principal causes of quarrel.
First, competition; secondly, diffidence; thirdly, glory. () These three passions are at once
dangerous to the natural world, but necessary for the artificial world to exist. The competition to
which Hobbes speaks is a competition for power. In his observations, it is the powerful that are
happy and can assure their continued felicity. Thus, competition begets violence. Diffidence
implies the defense of oneself and your well being in fear of it being stripped of you. Diffidence
seems to beget violence as well. And glory begets the most violence. The thirst for power becomes

The Technology of Computer Networks
Introduction
Computer network a system used to link PCs or computer equipment (servers, routers, and other
equipment). For data transmission can be used various kinds of electric signals, light signals or
electromagnetic radiation. Computer networks can be classified according to various criteria
territorial prevalence, type of network topology, etc. One of the criteria the type of transmission,
the network is divided into wired and wireless.
Wi Fi a trademark of Wi Fi Alliance for wireless networks based on the standard IEEE 802.11.
The acronym Wi Fi (from the Wireless Fidelity, which can be literally translated as the quality of
the wireless ) is currently developing as a family of standards for the transmission of digital data
radio streams. It is still often hears that the wireless network is not secure compared to wired
solutions. At the present stage of Wi Fi technology s development that is not true. Simply security
needs to be addressed (to design and maintain), as in the case of a wired network.
It has long been known that the defense of any infrastructure is only one method of creating a

within the network. Building a security system Wi Fi network should take into account all of
these factors in order to come as close to a similar level of security of wired and wireless network
segments.

The main concepts that can be taken away from Zara s business model, which directly affect its

Zara is known for its ability to respond quickly to the demands of the market. The market segment
that Zara is target is not very price sensitive, and therefore it does not compete on price but rather
on fashion trends. The company has positioned itself so that it has the ability to design and have a
finished good within four to five weeks for an entirely new design and two weeks for restocking

Should tobacco advertising be restricted? This is a very controversial issue. There is the idea that

that children start smoking for other reasons. Many big, well known tobacco companies like RJ

10 Year Goal Plan Research Paper
I have currently set a ten year goal plan for myself. My first goal is to complete college in about
6 years, with a Master s/CPA degree. The next stage of my goals is to switch my career to a
position dealing with accounting, which will help me pursue a career position with
PricewaterhouseCoopers. In this paper I will discuss PWC as a company, how am I preparing
myself for my future, and how technological developments will affect my career goals. How will I
become an accountantat PwC in ten years or less?
How am I preparing myself for my future? I am currently a freshman year student at Thomas
Edison State University, pursing a bachelor s degree in accounting. My bachelor s degree should
take me a little over 3 years to complete the credits needed. I will then continue on to work on and
complete my Master s/CPA degree. I am currently personally working online training myself in

Yes, I want to be an accountant but before this assignment I didn t think about which company
would I like to work for, now I know. Also I didn t consider an intern program, and now I m
looking forward to applying to an intern program that pays a salary. I plan on keeping up with the
technology used in the accountant industry. I will constantly meet with a business advisor offered
by my university to make sure I m continuing on track. Yes, this is the beginning of my journey

recently have had the pleasure of meeting an employee of PwC who gave me information
verifying how wonderful of company they actual are. This assignment completely made me realize
that I need to become more organize and learn how to stay on schedule. If I take all this

What Is The Syntax In Night By Elie Wiesel
Night, by Elie Wiesel, is a memoir on his gruesome experiences in his time in Auschwitz. After
the first edition of the book, there was a section which he changed the language and syntax to
possibly make his text more powerful, and to spell check and revise any errors he had because at
the time, he was only 20. The change of the text was much more effective than the old version
because the syntax made the section stand out more and the diction was much better to make the
section overall much more powerful to the readers. The use of syntax was much more effective in
the newer version than the old version because it makes all the words seem independent and makes
each word stand out in its own way. He made each sentence into its own paragraph... Show more

In the section, he used just silent sky in the newer version unlike the old version where he used
silent blue sky . The interpretation of blue in this setting makes it feel like a nice beautiful day
in a concentration camp and makes things feel more pleasant and relaxing which does not help
support the fact that this is Auschwitz. Colors should be dark gloomy colors such as a dark gray
or a black or none at all which he used in the newer version. The use of just silent sky not only
makes it feel darker, but makes it feel abrupt and more powerful so in this case, less is more. The
use of dreams to ash is much more effective than the original dreams to dust . Dust is just
nothing, dust means gone completely and there is no turning back and you re now just waiting
to be gone. This is dark but there has to be some hope left, seeing that the Jews always just held
on and prayed. Ash on the other hand is also nothing but there is a little spark of hope, it is still
moving and it is still alive but so useless that no one cares and no one realizes it. Ash also just fits
because of the burning smell and feel that comes from the so called chimneys which await them.
Diction can definitely change how we think and how we imagine a scene and the newer version
gives a darker and more surreal

Spanish Colonialism on the History of Puerto Rican People...
Spanish Colonialism on the History of Puerto Rican People
Puerto Rico . The name immediately brings to mind images of a beautiful lush tropical island of
enchantment. The name Puerto Rico usually does not conjure the image of Taino Indians or
African slaves, yet these populations have great importance in laying the foundation for the notion
of identity of Puerto Ricans. In contemporary debates of Puerto Rican identity, it is essential to
examine the history of the island to determine the effects of Spanish colonialism on Puerto Rican
identity. As he demonstrates in his article Puerto Rico: the Four Storeyed Country , Jose L.
Gonzalez discusses the notion of identity as a series of storeys, one built upon another in order

17). The island s discovery did not lead to a quick occupation, though. Juan Ponce de Leon, in
search of gold, made the first effort to settle on the island in 1508. In the next twenty years, the
Taino population became decimated while forced to labor in prospecting gold, a phase that ended
in this time, succumbing to disease and a breakdown in their social network.
An important implication of this initial occupation of the island by Spaniards is the imposition of
the Spanish language. Because the Taino population could be counted in small amounts and
Spanish had established their presence on the island by instilling their language as the only
accepted language, in the name of Spain, a first storey was constructed in the notion of identity of
the Puerto Rican. The Tainos had been moved out and taken over, the Spanish had moved in and
started to let their culture infiltrate into that of the Taino, and now things were changing.
Because the gold rush on the island lost its surge, the Spanish turned its attention to the agricultural
success they could have with the island. However, as a result of their occupation, they lacked the
labor force to effectively move an agricultural economy. In order to replenish the population and
create a strong labor force, the Spanish took part in what others around Puerto Rico had begun to
do, import cheap labor, namely African slaves. As the profit grew from cash crops sugar emerging

If Genetic Transformation Has The Meaning Of Change Caused...
If Genetic transformation has the meaning of change caused by genes and involves the placing
of a gene into an life form in order to modify the organisms characteristic; the progression of
placing genes from one life form to a different is used to assist of a plasmid and the pGLO
plasmid codes the gene used for GFP as well as the gene for resistance to ampicillin. It is used to
manage the expression of the fluorescent protein; hence, the GFP gene is able to be switched on by
adding the sugar arabinose to nutrient medium of the cell, then the bacteriawill be able to glow a

Rhetorical Analysis Of Bill Clinton s Speech
In order to ensure her speech resonated in the mind of leaders from around the world, Clinton at
times uses and authoritative and urgent tone, while also utilizing techniques such as repetition. At
one point in her speech, Clinton s tone shifted as she became extremely passionate. She cried, the
history of women has been a history of silence. Even today, there are those who are trying to
silence our words. But the voices of this conference and of the women at Huairou must be heard
loudly and clearly: It is a violation of human rightswhen babies are denied food, or drowned, or
suffocated, or their spines broken, simply because they are born girls. It is a violation of human
rights when women and girls are sold into the slavery of prostitution for human greed and... Show

Clinton takes a bold move to demand action from the leaders at the conference and in order to do
that she must shift her tone to represent the authority she wants to present. There is another time
in her speech where Clinton used an anaphora. Another point Clinton made sure to repeat is that
families will flourish (Clinton) when women are healthy and educated , full and equal partners
in society , and free from violence (Clinton). A major point in Clinton s speech was that in order
to help all people to succeed, women must first be allowed to succeed, and the people that will
be directly affected because of this success would be the families. Clinton understood that the
well being of families is a point that would connect her audience because it is a topic that
concerned most people, so she made sure to repeat that phrase several times. The mention of
families is so important because even though there were so many people who opposed her
speech, but they were also groups that were concerned for the well being of families, so she was
able to use families to unite even the people who are against her. When looking at the diction of
Clinton s speech, she uses three different types of word

The Legal Approach Of The American Constitution
The Legal Approach: This approach is very tricky to control the president, and therefore, it is very
important to block and prevent any tyrannical regime because it is all about laws and legislatures.
In here, the American constitution is very important and leads the way. It shows that how the
constitution plays a role in presidency. Through this, the significant advantage of this approach is
that the president and his or her presidency is controlled by the constitution, laws, legal precedents
and customs. The legal approach limits the power of the president, and put some boundaries of the
presidential warrant, reach and powers to prevent any tyrannical kind of regimes. This approach
also determines that how a president uses his or her authority with other branches of the federal
government, such as judiciary, the congress and bureaucracy. The Institutional Approach: The
Institutional Approach is a traditional old and significant one that affects the attitudes of the
president towards the institution of the presidency. Because of this, this approach deals with
legislature, executive, judiciary, political parties, interest groups, and the president himself/herself.
The presidential institution exists to handle three sets of responsibilities, regardless of who is
president: policy issues, political targets, and the daily workload (Nelson, year, 41). Of course, the
presidency as an institution is very important. Also, a president plays an important role in this
institution.

Research Paper On Curfew
Curfew Comments
Have you ever heard of the witching hour? The period between 3 am and 4 am is often referred
to as the witching or devil hour, since that is when paranormal forces are at their strongest. Some
high school students choose to leave their home and hang out in the streets during this time.
Whether you believe in paranormal forces or not, it is not safe for minors to be outside after
midnight. Kids often view curfews as an unnecessary rule, but there are many benefits to having
one. They have often been implemented by parents, but there is none that is country wide. There
should be a legal curfew for minors because it protects them from harm, improves their mental
health, and reduces the rate of juvenile crime.

health by increasing their sleep and reduce the rate of juvenile crime. So when you are in high
school, make sure you make good choices and listen to your parents when they tell you to be home
by a certain time. After all, there are many benefits to a curfew, including extra protection against
paranormal activity!

  • 3. A Feministic View on Jackson’s Short Stories †the Lottery’... Shirley Jackson is most famous for her short story The Lottery and her novel The Haunted House . She has been applauded for her fresh approach towards American Gothic writing. There are many works dedicated to the gothic elements her stories contain. However, most critics overlooked the feminist elements that most of her stories have. The two short stories discussed in this essay both have female characters who are outsiders in their society. Careful examination of the protagonists course of action, setting, and symbolic references Shirley Jacksonput in both of the stories shows that the female protagonist in both The Lotteryand The Tooth should be considered as a woman with a feminist attitude towards a male dominated society.... The next passage indicates Tessie s transformation when all of the sudden, Tessie Hutchinson shouts to Mr. Summers, You didn t give him time enough to take any paper he wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair! (298). Her husband did not receive an honest treatment according to Tessie, which will eventually lead to her downfall. Now that she is the victim, there is a significant change in attitude towards the town and its tradition. She is no longer a good natured woman who finds the lottery on great joke, instead, she stands up to this old tradition and is more nervous and aggressive than ever before in the story. This is the complete opposite of what we first saw of Tessie, a simple woman concerned more with her dishes than the lottery. The character of Tessie, in the end of the story, is fully aware of the consequences of this same lottery and she protests against the tradition which is so deeply rooted in her society. Because of the first impression of Tessie the reader would have expected her to just shrug her shoulders, instead Tessie does completely the opposite and stands up for her own rights. • 5. Their Eyes Were Watching God By Zora Neale Hurson Analysis In 1791 Thomas Paine wrote the book Rights of Man in which Paine illustrates his thoughts on the unity of the American people. Walter Russell, however, says America has always been a division of man. There has always been the conqueror and conquered the master and slave the ruler and the ruled the oppressor and the oppressed. There has never been content nor unity. There has been only discontent and disunity . While in the United States there are people similar to Thomas, who believe and strive for freedom and diversity, there are also those who Walter Russell illustrates that promote racism, violence, and disunity. I mostly disagree with Thomas Paine because, while there are times of peace; justice; and concord, there are far greater instances of oppression, privilege, and riots. Two examples of oppression in the America come from the book Their Eyes Were Watching God written by Zora Neale Hurston. Janie, a black woman living in the post civil war South, is oppressed by her husband, Logan Killicks, when he yells at her, Ah ll take holt uh dat ax and come in dere and kill yuh! You better dry up in dere! Ah m too honest and hard workin for anybody in yo family, dat s de reason you don t want me! (38). Logan disrespects his wife and puts her below him by saying he is more honest and diligent than her and her family, showing oppression in the America on a personal level with husband and wife. There are multiple departments within the executive branch that handle this. They are the Departments of Defense, Energy, Commerce, State, and Homeland Security. They are responsible for the negotiation of nuclear armament treaties. This Department has recently been in the news for a proposed nuclear deal with Iran. The deal has yet to be voted upon by Congress, but it is becoming increasingly unpopular with high ranking military officers (Washington Post). The Department of Homeland Security was made by President Bush, in response to the terrorist attacks that occurred on 11 September 2001. The main responsibility of this Department is to monitor the activities of incoming travelers and cargo. This can lead to stopping the smuggling of contraband and even nuclear weapons. A subordinate agency of the Department of Homeland Security is the Federal Emergency Management Agency, better known as FEMA. FEMA is responsible for coordinating a response to a disaster on U.S. soil; this includes a nuclear detonation (DHS). In this paper I will first explain functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. Secondly, I will explain the different causes of global poverty. Thirdly, I will collect my own data to explain poverty in one country. Finally, I will identify the idea of ethnocentric and culturally relative. First and foremost, there are three types of theories that can be applied to global poverty which are functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. To start off with functionalism is when a society comes together and works as a whole. Next, we have conflict theory where some theorist says it happens when a society competes with one another ... Next, another example is when our country help a low poverty that have a great outcome of resources we tell them what to give us in return and how much to give it to us for. That causes a substantial deal of conflict because we are taking their resources that they need to make money for their country in order to survive. Finally, some places like South Africa had a system in which you weren t able to move up to a higher position in which you are only able to obtain the position in which you are born into. South Africa s system was called a caste system, it is no longer illegal, however; it is still enforced daily. When this caste system was a law, then people of lower status were not able to interact with those who were deemed higher than them, and there were some instances when they were not allowed outside at the same time they were. If your shadows had crossed or if you had accidentally had touched them, then they were considered unclean. This would fit under functionalism because they all worked together to keep this system in place. In addition, poverty in Kenya is a humongous epidemic, however; most of the poverty that is seen there is more in the rural area. Additionally, Trump also has a clothing line and a collection and has manufacturing in China, but Trump is ready to go against himself if that is what it takes to do what is best for America, as that is how he sees it. • 13. Parking Problems At The New Residence Halls Parking on campus is a recurring problem throughout the years, but the most recent of these problems has evolved into a catastrophe for and not so much for others. As the fall term came into place, more and more parking was taken away for the new residence halls. Students regularly admit to hoping other students would hurry and drop some of their classes, or that the students will go ahead and stop coming to lectures so there is more parking available and less of a burden. However, the burden of circling parking lots and the never ending loop of frustrating continues on for the fall term and more is to come with the lack of parking the campus wishes to offer. The OU Daily has released statements in articles concerning the matter. The new residence halls will also provide a parking garage or parking lotin which has a capacity of 1200 1300 parking spots. This is a nice edition for the lack of parking, but the new residence hall took the place of an old parking lot which held the capacity of 500 600 parking spots. Yes, the parking is nearly doubled, but what good will that doubled number do in comparison to the number of students (approximately twenty two times the quantity of parking spaces provided in said lot). The new residence halls may further establish a slightly more extensive parking lot than previously seen on campus, but the couple hundred more spots available is minuscule in comparison to the quantity of students and faculty members at the university. • 14. Effects of Surfactants on Suppository Absorption Essay... Suppositories are the frequently used dosage forms prescribed through rectal route. However, suppositories have the limitation of prolonged onset of action which can be attributed to poor drug release properties of suppository base. Surfactants can increase the drug release to aid absorption by reducing the interfacial tension between rectal fluids and the suppositorybase. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of different concentrations of sodium lauryl sulphate and tween 80 on the drug release of paracetamol from suppositories of palm kernel base (HAMINВ®). Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) and tween 80 were used in this study to examine their effect on the drug release from paracetamol suppositories prepared using HAMINВ® base... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drugs are incorporated into suitable suppository bases which may be fatty base or water soluble base to form suppositories into suitable shape to be inserted into the rectum. [3] In the rectum, the suppositories release their drug content by melting at body temperature or dissolving in rectal mucous secretion to be diffused across the rectal epithelium into the mucosa that is abundantly vascularised. [4] The drug can be absorbed through the middle and inferior rectal veins into systemic circulation by passing the hepatic first pass metabolism, which gives the rectal route of administration an extra advantage. Paracetamol is a well known drug for its analgesic and antipyretic activity. It is available in oral, rectal and intravenous dosage form. The most common route of administration is the oral route as paracetamol is being absorbed well through this route with the bioavailability of 63 89%. [5] The absorption half life through oral route is 4.5 minutes with no lag time. [6] The rectal form of paracetamol is mainly intended to be used in children as they have difficulty in swallowing oral medication. The bioavailability of paracetamol administered through rectal route is in the range of 24 98%, depending on the suppositories physical composition with 35 minutes of mean absorption half life and 40 minutes of lag time. • 28. Call Of The Wild Fittest Analysis Some people and animals just weren t fit for the Klondike. In the adventure story The Call of the Wild by Jack London, there is a dog named Buck that goes from domesticated in Santa Clara Valley, California to the Klondike during the Yukon gold rush. Buck quickly learns the ways of the North land like the Law of Club and Fang. Not all the dogs and people that Buck traveled with were fit for the Klondike. In the The Call of the Wild the theme of survival of the fittest shines through from the dogs to the people. One of the first ways the theme of survival of the fittest is shown is when one of the dogs on Bucks sled dogteam named Curly was attacked by other dogs and killed. On the sled dogs journey they stop to sleep and rest, but one of the times that they stopped they got something they didn t expect. One of the dogs named Curly was really friendly and went over to see the other dogs that weren t on her sled dog s team. Curly then got attacked by dogs that she had never met. But she lay there limp and lifeless in the bloody, trampled snow, almost literally torn to pieces, the Swart half breed standing over her and cursing horribly (London 17). This proves that survival of the fittest was in The Call of the Wild because some dogs just weren t fit for the Klondike. Like Curly and many other dogs and some people were just not fit for the Yukon. Some dogs and people just didn t have the characteristics to survive in the Yukon, some changed their characteristics like Buck did and some like Curly thought that all the dogs were nice like she had known before. Another reason to show survival of the fittest is in The Call of the Wild is when one of the other dogs on the sled team named Dolly got rabbis by starving huskies that tried to raid their camp for food. When the starving huskies tried to raid Buck s sled teams camp for their food they ended up giving Dolly rabies. Once Dolly got the rabbis she started to chase Buck but when they got back around by where the sled dog owners then took an ax to Dolly s head. The dog driver held the ax poised in his hand, and as Buck shot past him the ax crashed down upon mad Dolly s head (London 34). This shows that during this scene, Dolly was not ... In order to dispose of it correctly, the substance and its physical and chemical properties had to be identified. The unknown white compound was one of a list of 15 compounds. 5g of the unknown compound were given in order to correctly identify and discover its physical and chemical properties. In order to do so, a solubilitytest, a flametest, and ion tests were conducted. From the results of these initial tests and the given list of compounds, the unknown white compound was thought to be composed of sodiumand a halide (I , Br , or Cl ). Of the list, NaCl was the appropriate compound, however NaC2H3O3 was also tested out of skepticism. To verify the identity of the substance, the solubility and flame tests were performed again along with a pH test. The pH tests of NaCl and NaC2H3O2 did not match that of the unknown white compound. The list of compounds had been entirely ruled out. The identity of the unknown white compound was revealed to be calcium chloride. To synthesize at least a gram (calculated to produce 1.2g) of CaCl2, the following reaction was completed. 2 HCl + CaCO3+heat CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O To verify that CaCl2 was the compound that had been synthesized, the compound was tested with the flame test, solubility test, halide ion test, and pH test. According to Hobbes, the nature of war consisteth not in actual fighting, but in the known disposition thereto during all the time there is no assurance to the contrary. (13) War is not a state of fighting, it is a state of being; specifically a state of being in which safety and protection of one s life or happiness are close to non existent. After the first edition of the book, there was a section which he changed the language and syntax to possibly make his text more powerful, and to spell check and revise any errors he had because at the time, he was only 20. The change of the text was much more effective than the old version because the syntax made the section stand out more and the diction was much better to make the section overall much more powerful to the readers. The use of syntax was much more effective in the newer version than the old version because it makes all the words seem independent and makes each word stand out in its own way. In the section, he used just silent sky in the newer version unlike the old version where he used silent blue sky . The interpretation of blue in this setting makes it feel like a nice beautiful day in a concentration camp and makes things feel more pleasant and relaxing which does not help support the fact that this is Auschwitz. Colors should be dark gloomy colors such as a dark gray or a black or none at all which he used in the newer version. The use of just silent sky not only makes it feel darker, but makes it feel abrupt and more powerful so in this case, less is more. The use of dreams to ash is much more effective than the original dreams to dust . Dust is just nothing, dust means gone completely and there is no turning back and you re now just waiting to be gone. This is dark but there has to be some hope left, seeing that the Jews always just held on and prayed. Ash on the other hand is also nothing but there is a little spark of hope, it is still moving and it is still alive but so useless that no one cares and no one realizes it. Ash also just fits because of the burning smell and feel that comes from the so called chimneys which await them. The name immediately brings to mind images of a beautiful lush tropical island of enchantment. The name Puerto Rico usually does not conjure the image of Taino Indians or African slaves, yet these populations have great importance in laying the foundation for the notion of identity of Puerto Ricans. In contemporary debates of Puerto Rican identity, it is essential to examine the history of the island to determine the effects of Spanish colonialism on Puerto Rican identity. Juan Ponce de Leon, in search of gold, made the first effort to settle on the island in 1508. In the next twenty years, the Taino population became decimated while forced to labor in prospecting gold, a phase that ended in this time, succumbing to disease and a breakdown in their social network. An important implication of this initial occupation of the island by Spaniards is the imposition of the Spanish language. Because the Taino population could be counted in small amounts and Spanish had established their presence on the island by instilling their language as the only accepted language, in the name of Spain, a first storey was constructed in the notion of identity of the Puerto Rican. The Tainos had been moved out and taken over, the Spanish had moved in and started to let their culture infiltrate into that of the Taino, and now things were changing. Because the gold rush on the island lost its surge, the Spanish turned its attention to the agricultural success they could have with the island. However, as a result of their occupation, they lacked the labor force to effectively move an agricultural economy. In order to replenish the population and create a strong labor force, the Spanish took part in what others around Puerto Rico had begun to do, import cheap labor, namely African slaves.
