Transculturacion
The theory of transculturación was first imagined by Fernando Ortiz of Cuba in 1940. He had
dedicated his life studying his fellow Cubans and their way of life. The phenomenon of
transculturación can best be described as being expres(ando) las diferentes fases del proceso transitivo
de una cultura a otra, el proceso implica también necesariamente la pérdida o desarraigo de una
cultura precedente . In this essay I will be analysing the political changes in Haiti after the French
colonial days as described in Alejo Carpentier s novel El reino de este mundo . Because two strongly
distinctive and contrasting cultures are presented throughout this novel I will be analysing whether or
not the process of transculturación does develop or if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whilst the author in Motivos de Son (1930), writes from the perspective of a black man, in his later
work Songoro Cosongo (1931) the content of his writing develops into writing about the African
American integrated population from a different perspective. Poesía mulata is the term Nicolás
Guillén uses to coin his inditing. It consists of a form of poetry which expresses the unification of both
cultures as they are no longer considered as the black culture or white culture but rather a blend of
both, merging together. In his work of poetry Mulatto verses he even goes further then saying that the
Cubans have influenced the Africans but he goes further then this by expressing the idea that both
cultures may have influenced each other. Nicolás Guillén s work wishes to explore the black
experience in Cuba, he achieves this by internalising and writing as if he were part of that world.
Nevertheless the author remains a white Cuban, thus his point of view is observatory and does not

Essay on Zimbabwe Should Not Have To Suffer This Way
Zimbabwe Should Not Have To Suffer This Way
In recent years, Zimbabwe has been prone to increasing violence as a result of a corrupt government.
There have been many instances reported to HRWO (Human rights watch organization) of personal
accounts where landowners and workers alike have been subjected to beatings, pillaging, threats, and
overall persecution. These acts of terrorism are the products of a military coup that is currently in
power called the Zanu PF and orchestrated by the veterans of the war for Zimbabwe s Independence.
The world must not stand by and watch these crimes against humanity take place with a complacent
eye any longer. This tyrannical powers regime of terror which enacted the Zimbabwe land reform and

The election was a landslide and the days of a white owned tyrannical government was over, or at
least that s what the native people were led to believe.
One British condition in the Lancaster Agreements was the ensured protection of white farm owners
for the first ten years of the new government. These conditions simply said were willing seller, willing
buyer meaning that land would not be acquired forcefully from any already functional farms. After the
term of the agreement was up, the government had control of redistributing the land to the people. For
the first ten years redistribution was slow and most of the land was still in the hands of the white
commercial farmers. During this period President Mugabe took out enormous loans from the World
Bank and invested it in institutions designed to fit the luxurious standards of the elite. They awarded
the majority of usable land to the elite of Zimbabwe, while the majority of the country was rapidly
growing poorer, and paying for the government s outstanding loans through a process called
Economic Structural Adjustment Program. This is a program the World Bank and the IMF

Ghrelin s Role In Food Intake
Describe the role of ghrelin in food intake regulation and its involvement in development of obesity.
Ghrelin is initially synthesized as a pre prohormone comprised of 117 amino acids. Cleavage of
preproghrelin results in two mature ghrelin molecules. Ghrelin is a 28 amino acid peptide that is
secreted primarily from the X/A like cells of the stomach. Ghrelin is found in blood circulation in two
forms, both des acl (dAG) and acyl forms (AG). Ghrelin is stimulator of growth hormone (GH)
secretion and the only circulatory hormone known to significantly enhance feeding, increase body
mass and to regulate energy homeostasis central systemic administration (Castañeda et al., 2010;

Factors That Influence Extremism
Politics. Interpretation. Media. These are all aspects that play a role in how people perceive the world.
Because of these ideas and ideologies that are influenced by society, some people may believe that
certain religions such as Islam; may influence extremism. Yet, this is not the truth. Furthermore,
extremism is not created by religion or in this case Islam.
For the argument that Islam does not influence extremism, one must understand and educate one s self
regarding the factors that create, influence, and enhance extremism. Examples of such factors that may
help create and influence extremism are: politics and radical interpretation. Also, extremist ideology
can be enhanced through the use of media and modern technology.
In the case of politics, extremists have three main reasons that may lead to simply becoming extreme.
The first, is injustice against other Muslims. Extremists see wars on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan for

Media is used to influence extremism through three main points. The first, is by painting a violent
image of Islam. This violent image is painted through stereotyping and misrepresenting Muslims and
Islam in the media. Research has shown that, media depict Islam as fundamentalism , extremism and
radicalism ... in the modern world where the role of media is central, the image of reality can be
manipulated to misrepresent the actual facts. The media have tried to represent Muslims as terrorists
posing a threat to the western security. (MEŠIĆ 5) The stereotyping and misrepresentation leads to
Islamophobia (the fear of Islam) and can go back to the politics point of injustice against Muslims;
wherein extremists feel as though they ve been unfairly treated and must act out harshly and violently.
The violence that occurs as a result also is fueled by further feelings of threat enhanced through the
media; again another example of a factor having absolutely no relation to

In the Annenberg Learner, Video on Demand series session 6, Evolution and the tree of life, various
professors or scholars discussed the evolution of life. The session began with a beautiful photograph
of Harvard University of Natural History. Next, a narrator introduced the Museum of Comparative

The narrator pointed out that the century old jars containing specimens of bodies along with their

Summary Of Toxic Charity By Robert Lupton
Robert Lupton (2011) clearly states his thesis in the opening line of his book; What Americans avoid
facing is that while we are very generous in charitable giving, much of that money is either wasted or
actually harms the people it is targeted to help (pg. 1). Wrapped in this sentence are several themes
that Lupton seeks to unpack throughout his work. He lays the foundation for the need of charitable
reform by providing examples and insight into instances where charitable giving can harm where it
intended to help. Then he goes on to provide numerous examples of charitable giving that helps
instead of harms its recipients. Throughout the book he contributes ways to turn harmful giving into
helpful giving. Lupton accounts his four decades ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Example Of The Values And Values Of Mahatma Gandhi
Question 1
A) Yes I agree that these are examples of personal mission statements
In the first source Mahatma Gandhi states his values and goals by which he adheres to daily! It helps
him PRIORITISE and plan his daily routine and motivates him to stay on the right path in life. Even
when challenged in his daily life, his mission statement helps him stay focused on his goals, thus
motivating him to succeed! Dr Stephen R Covey stated that Gandhi worked within himself until he
won the private victory and learned the philosophy of his life . (Covey, 2008) This clearly emphasises
the fact that his mission statement personal he strove to make himself a better person in order to

of the 300 million people in India. He showed them hope and showed them that they too could rise up

In the days leading to India gaining independence Gandhi could have easily assumed a leading role in
taking a powerful role in government. He didn t do that! Instead he wanted to unite his people and
here we can see he lived by his philosophy in resisting untruth, I shall put up with all suffering he

Homeless Families In America
Homeless Families in America
We generally think of the homeless as people who made bad choices and are doing nothing to help
themselves. We rarely think of the parents who have to decide on either feeding their children or
paying rent. On how one event leads to a series of events that change the course of history for these
families. A family with only one provider who dies unexpectedly, leaving the family with no means of
providing for itself. A mother who has to choose the safety of her children over the comfort her abuser
provides. Against popular belief that most homeless are mentally ill or lazy people who do not want to
work, there are many causes of homelessness (Top Causes of Homelessness in America, 2015).
The Typical Homeless Family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transitional means that the family has instability when it comes to having a residence. An example of
a transitional living situation is homelessness, which is obvious when families are living in shelters.
According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, out of the 1.56 million people
the used homeless shelters and emergency homeless centers between October 1, 2008 and September
30, 2009, five hundred twenty thousand of them were families. Homeless families are constantly on
the move, trying to find a safe place for their family to sleep. One day they may stay with friends, the
next day at a shelter, and the day after that they may be living under a bridge, in a car, or in an
abandoned building. Some families who have no home, choose to stay with family or friends
(Zlotnick, 2014).
Families overcoming Homelessness One of the biggest challenges that families face when overcoming
homelessness is finding a stable residence. Every family faces its own set of unique challenges.
Finding gainful employment after either being underemployed or unemployed. Being able to find

quickly everyone is dismissing Kanye West while simultaneously trying to make Childish Gambino
the new Kanye. With online comments such as, If Kanye was woke as he was a decade ago, THIS is
the kind of stuff I d imagine he d be putting out today , and Get Kanye West out of here. Childish

Pitchfork, Jayson Greene wrote last week about the destructive nature of the need to proclaim artists
geniuses, and how that ends up with those artists walling themselves off from the kind of criticism
they may need to hear. Eventually, they feel so secure in the advanced nature of their ideas, and that
their validation will come in history, if not in their own time, that they stop considering their
potentially harmful effects. Kanye West s recent undoing is undoubtedly tied to his unwavering self

Amber Rose and many others) while still being proclaimed a visionary at the end, it s not

However, some believe that fares may also rise, as any open skies treaty would yield massive
consolidation among European airlines and lower the number of competitors in the marketplace
(Michaels, 2003, p.A3).
To get around national laws and regulatory problems, airlines have formed global alliances such as
Star (United Airlines and Lufthansa), Oneworld (American Airlines, British Airways, etc.), and
SkyTeam (Delta Air Lines, Air France, and AeroMexico). Through such alliances, airlines benefit
from each other s resources, which include additional routes and marketing strategies as well as code
sharing agreements, without incurring the high costs of expansion. The costs involved with increased
security precautions and route changes will force the airlines to examine their agreements and
consider expansions of the same. For customers, airline alliances offer broader frequent flier
programs, streamlined travel, and simplified systems for purchasing tickets, but those benefits may do
little to allay passenger concerns regarding safety.
Advances in communication technology have also played a role in the airline industry s recent
troubles. Advances such as video conferencing, internet chat and internet telephones allow firms to
conduct business without having their executives get on the plane and visit their customer s site.
Further, coast to coast business class era has become a thing of the past. Businesses are currently

Difference Between Menarche And Menopause
INTRODUCTION
Women who were the most dormant segment of the Indian population have now become active
participants in all aspects of life (Gyan, 2015). She bear s a special gift of bearing, rearing children.
The major concern in woman s life is reproductive health and they need enormous attention.
Menarche and menopause are the two important phases of the reproductive cycle. The menopause is a
time in women s life when the reproductive capacity ceases. In menopause, the post menopausal stage
is the time next to menopause and peri menopausal is the stage during which menopausal changes
occur (Pillitteri,1999).
In early menopausal transition, estrogen levels are generally normal or even slightly increased; the
level of follicle stimulating hormone begins to elevate but is generally in the normal range (Deborah
Grady, 2006). The women, in the transition to menopause, may experience vasomotor, psychosomatic,
urogenital, psychological symptoms, and an increased the tendency to obesity, as well as sexual
dysfunction. The prevalence of these symptoms linked to menopause different across ethnic,

quantity produced is influenced by the pituitary hormones; follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and

and marks the onset of the menopause. LH levels also elevate, but less marked compared to FSH

Genre Of Music Essay
Our data showed some interesting trends for each genre of music. While many of our tests fell in line
with what we predicted with our hypothesis, we did have some outliers that we did not account for.
As stated previously, we started by testing the resting heart rate of our subjects as our constant. The
overall average of our subjects heart rates was 69.92 BPM which falls in line with the standard
average. However, some subjects had a harder time relaxing completely while being tested and
therefore had a higher resting heart rate. Once the resting heart rate was established, we were then able
to compare the heart rates while the subjects were listening to music and see if we could find a
significant difference that supported our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another explanation for these increases could be that several subjects started dancing in their seats
when they heard the song. The physical movement could have been a cause for the raise in the heart
rates. These increases also fit what we originally predicted in our original hypothesis.
The final genre that we tested was classical music and we used Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber.
The average heart rate for this song was 70.12 BPM which is just a 0.20 difference from the resting
average. The tempo for this song was significantly less than all of the other genres at just 77 BPM.
Classical music has multiple studies done suggesting that it can improve newborn babies IQ, helps
while studying and helps you fall asleep. While this is not what we tested for, the fact that classical
music lowered or kept almost every subjects heart rate the same, backs up some of these previous
studies that have been performed. In our data, there was one person who was completely different
from the rest of the data. As stated previously, all of our subjects tested, except for one, were 18 22
male and female college students. The one subject who did not fit the mold of our other subjects was a
male, college professor. This subject s response to all of the music genres did not come close to any
other person s response. With every single genre of music that was played for this subject, their heart
rate lowered significantly. There are a

Tv Violence And Domestic Violence Essay
Abstract
We examined the various forms of television violence and domestic violence in America. We provided
statistics showing the amounts of violence facts about adolescent exposure. We compared and
contrasted the differing effects of both and implemented a study to analyze the similarities. We
observed children and gathered data regarding their response to specific kinds of violence and the
psychological effects of each. We expected that the effects of television violence and domestic would
be strikingly similar to one another and the results of our study prove the similarities and provoke
awareness to the differences.

Television Violence Study evaluated nearly 1000 hours of programming over a two year period and
found that 61% of that programming contained interpersonal violence (Sclozman, 2002 2003, p 87).
Something very provocative about the study was that most of the violence was displayed on children s
shows. An article in Pediatrics Magazine states, .Of all animated feature films produced in the United
States between 1937 and 1999, 100% portrayed violence... ( Pediatrics, 2001). The evidence if
irrefutable, Television does display high levels of violence.
Not only has it been proven that a large amount of violence is displayed on television, but there has
been research that suggests that some children have displayed higher levels of aggression as a result of
their exposure to violent programming. A recent Current Events article states, More than 1000 studies
validate the connection between media violence and aggression in some children ( Current Events,
2001). Although opinions tend to vary about how much a child is affected, studies show that some
children are affected so much that they reenact what they saw on television on their peers, and
sometimes even their pets. Professional Wrestling is viewed by 35 million in the United States each
week. These wrestling shows include fighting, sexually

Road Is All
Willa Cather once said, The end is nothing, the road is all. I think this quote means that the journey is
all that matters, not the destination. I strongly agree with this opinion. It brings people closer together,
creates wonderful memories, and also creates a strong bond between you and other people. Though
the destination is what everyone really wants, the journey and the company are just as important as
well. Once you get to the end, what happens next? It is just simply the end. People could cherish the
moments that the road in the destination gives you.
To me this quote means that the road is all because it brings people closer together. When I lived in
California, my family and I went on a road trip to Oklahoma, Georgia, North Carolina, and Minnesota
to visit family members. The travel was actually really fun. The quote relates to this situation because
the journey to all four states were what brought us together and created fun. Even though all of us
were dying to finally get to our destination; especially because we were traveling by car, we soon
realized that it wasn t so bad after all. We saw lots of different things, talked more to each other, ...

of the journey are what makes it adventurous and exciting. This time, we spent about 15 hours in the
car together. Yet, surprisingly, we all had a great time again. We all laughed, sung songs, and took silly
pictures of each other sleeping. The journey to Georgia was another success. Without realizing it at all,

Control Charts Essay
1 Introduction
A control chart was invented in the early of 1920 s by Walter A. Shewart in the Bell Telephone
Laboratories. In 1928 he was introduced the first Statistical Process Control Charts in the Bell
Laboratories to improve the quality of telephones manufactured, he was developed a simple graphical
method for the growing range of statistical process control charts (Montgomery,2010).
Quality of a product or services is defined as its fitness for the use for which it has been made. Many
characteristics of a product determine the quality. They are called quality characteristics. Some of the
quality characteristics are shape, weight, size, diameter, strength, colour, hardness, surface finish,
reliability and appearance, etc.
In a manufacturing process, all the products will not be exactly a same. Quality will vary from piece to
piece. That is, there will be variations in quality characteristics of products. The causes for these
variations are found out and analysed. Suitable corrective action is to be taken to minimise the
variations within certain limits. This is done to maintain the quality. Statistical quality control charts
techniques are used to improvement the quality process in automobile parts manufacturing company.
Quality is a concept of several meanings, subjective and individual to the interpreter. When
mentioning that something is of a certain quality, it is assumed and associated to be good in some way.
More generally, the definition of quality has

A Study On Selecting A Mentor
Reflect on what you have learnt from the meetings with your project mentor, including the
presentation that you gave to your project mentor?
Selecting a Mentor
My project mentor was Mr Laeeq ur Rehman, who is a senior faculty member at College of
Accounting and Management Sciences (CAMS) and was also my tutor for the ACCA paper P3. Mr
Rehman is an ACCA, MBA, and CGA. He has mentored several students to successfully complete
their Research and Analysis Project. I was inspired by his teaching techniques and his ideas.
First Meeting
During the first meeting, Mr. Rehman explained me the required format of the research and analysis
project. He asked me the reason I had chosen the particular topic and we had a thorough discussion
regarding the chosen topic. He advised me to read the Oxford Brookes University BSC Information
Pack and conduct my research in accordance to its guidelines. I also discussed some of the
information sources and data collection methods in that meeting.
I was impatient about the research approach and design, so I asked my mentor several questions,
which helped me to understand the requirements. The CSR and ethics models studied in P1 and P3
were also discussed as these were to be used for the evaluation of company s policies. I also took
notes in the meeting so that I do not forget important details later.
Second Meeting
The second meeting was held when I finished my section one and section two of the project. Mr.
Rehman already reviewed my progress

Automobiles Essay
Automobiles
The invention of the automobile in the early 20th century has had an adverse affect on our
environment. Our society has used technology in order to advance the automobile to make it better
and more efficient. The automobile industry knows what sells and they take advantage of that. With
this growing technology to advance automobiles also comes flaws. The biggest and most obvious flaw
is pollution. Because of pollution, we find ourselves asking the question of whether this technology
has helped our society more than it has hurt it. Automobiles are the cause of 60 percent of our air
pollution today (Dewees 214). There are four main sources in which pollution comes from an
automobile. The first, on a hot day the sun will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What really happens is that there are hydrocarbon atoms left over from the combustion process
because they did not burn properly or at all. Another pollutant that is given off by automobiles along
with hydrocarbons is carbon monoxide. This too is also a result of the incomplete process of the
combustion of fuel. Carbon monoxide is emitted directly from the tailpipe. There are specific times
when this is common, when your car does not get enough air during starting and it chokes, when cars
are not tuned properly, during cold weather the level of carbon monoxide being emitted increases due
to more fuel to start the car, and also at high altitudes. The office of Mobile Sources did a study in
1992 which showed that carbon monoxide levels exceeded the Federal air quality standard in 20 U.S.
cities . Some other pollutants besides hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide that are given off are
nitrogen oxides, and carbon dioxides. These nitrogen oxides are given off by the high pressure in the
automobiles engine where nitrogen and oxygen atoms in the air react and then form the nitrogen
oxide. All of these pollutants effect the environment and people in a negative way. Next we will take a
look at what exactly these pollutants do to us. The most dangerous and widespread of all pollutants are
hydrocarbons. Hydrocarbons emitted by automobiles create smog, which in turn acts as a ground level
ozone layer and causes many health

Coffin, Urns, And Webcast Funerals By Edward Wong
Funerals, like all industries, are changing with the times. The fact that funerals can be referred to as an
industry shows just how much they have changed. At one time a funeral was a ritual that offered
support to a community by allowing them to fall back on beliefs. Funerals now are less impactful. A
funeral today is deritualized and rationalized. They are more of an obligation than a ritual for support.
The article Coffin, Urns, and Webcast Funerals by Edward Wong is a perfect example of the
deritualization of funerals. It gives examples of how funerals have become less interrupting and tragic.
Just the idea of not having to physically be at a funeral to see it is deritualization. The purpose of this

Effects Of Murder In Macbeth
Murder is a damaging act to one s mind. After committing/assisting in a murder, the mind is changed,
and changes the overall person as well. These changes are different in all situations. They depend on
the level of involvement, what the person is like before, and how violent the actual murder is. The
most impactful element, however, is the violence of the murder. For example, Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth were described by Shakespeare both before and after the murder. This helps readers to
understand the characters mindsets and how the event has shaped them. One of the best examples of
murder s influence on the mind comes from Shakespeare s play Macbeth. Before committing any
murder, Macbeth was lighthearted and not at all serious. Even ... Show more content on

If anything, real people are affected more. There is more scientific backing to how they re affected.
One of the most active parts of the brain during a murder is the orbitofrontal cortex. This part of the
brain is involved with moral sensitivity. In a study conducted with soldiers, this area was more active
when the soldier was aware of shooting an innocent person in the simulation. there was consistently
greater activity in the lateral portion of the OFC when subjects imagined shooting civilians. A region
of the brain that tends to be less active during murder is the lingual gyrus. This region is the part of the
brain that would justify a murder. Increased activity would be seen when soldiers would kill enemies.
This could explain why the effect isn t as drastic on the brain when the killing seems justified, versus
the orbitofrontal cortex being more active in more of the unjustified murders, which can tend to be

Education In Special Education
Special education is student centered where the needs of the student come before the disability of the
student. Special education teachers create their classroom and instruction based on who their students
are and what services they need in order to be successful in their learning. Merriam Webster (2015)
defines special education as classrooms and instruction designed for students with special needs.
Special education is a service provided by public schools to students who require additional support
through specialized instruction, class materials, and/or changes in their learning environment in order
for them to meet their learning objectives.
Special education teachers maintain challenging expectations for individuals with exceptionalities to
develop the highest possible learning outcomes and quality of life potential in ways that respect their
dignity, culture, language, and background. Special education allows students to receive personalized
instruction in their least restrictive learning environment to their specific needs based on their
disabilities. Students with disabilities who receive their education through special education services
are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to become successful in their future education or
careers after high school. Teaching students who require additional support due to their disabilities in
order to learn the general curriculum involve teachers to facilitate differentiation instruction
throughout the classroom.

I Am A My Project On Architecture
For my final photojournalism project I decided to take pictures of really tall buildings in London such
as the Shard. For a while I wasn t sure what I was going to do my project on and I was thinking about
doing it on the process of opening and closing a local shop like Paul s. I wasn t really that motivated
by that topic so I soon forgot about it. The idea to do my project on architecture came from my visit to
the London Eye. When I was there I realized how vast and large London was and how many buildings
occupied it. I was amazed how tall and massive some of the buildings were and a couple of them in
particular stood out to me. After my visit there I decided I would pick one famous building in London
to photograph and then add other pictures to my project that were less known, but equally as
interesting looking buildings. I wanted to try and photograph the buildings from the ground up to
really try and capture how big they actually were. I also didn t want to shoot the buildings directly
head on. I wanted my pictures to be of interesting angles of the buildings. I decided that in order to
capture the look I wanted for these photographs I had to use a different lens. I used a zoom lens that
helped me focus in on the top of the buildings and make the image appear a lot clearer. Additionally, I
placed the camera really low to the ground and angled the camera directly up and down to get the style
that I wanted. When I looked at these pictures on my camera I was amazed how

Question: How does Kiowa s death change some of the characters in the three chapters Speaking of

Hypothesis: Speaking of Courage gives Bowkers view of Kiowa s death, Notes gives O brien s view,
and In The Field offers the perspective of Kiowa s death from Azar, Bowker, Cross, and an un named
soldier. Kiowa s death amounts to be a huge climax in the novel, Kiowa s gentle, peaceful manner

Bowker is unable to erase the memory and asks O brien to write his story. Notes tells O brien s view
on Bowker enhanced by the fact that Norman Bowker ended up killing himself ten years after the war.
By working on his story and perfecting it in order to make it carry his feelings about Vietnam and
Bowker and Kiowa, O Brien makes peace with his memories of them. He writes in order to remember
in a way that is not painful. Therefore, he originally leaves Kiowa s death out of Speaking of Courage,
he ends up putting it back in because he realizes it is an essential part of understanding Bowker s
despair of Kiowa s death and realizes that it was a hard subject for him as well afterall. Norman is
back in the story, where he belongs...the central incident our long night in the shit field along the Song

The Influence Of Honey In Ancient Culture
Honey is the flower transmuted, its scent and beauty transformed into aroma and taste (Rosenbaum).
Honey has been known since the beginning of times. Its viscous, peculiar sweetness and its
distinguishable orange crystalized color makes honey be unique in its type. If my memory does not
fail me: I met honey for the first time so many years ago when I was a kid. I still remember those
times when I used to eat it by putting some of it on my finger. At home, honey never lack. For
example, I personally use it with some toasted bread while my dad uses it to sweeten his teas. These
are only a couple of ways of using it, however, there are so many more uses within the culinary art.

M2M Communication System for Networked Robots with Low...
Initially the robot has pain w, set according to the quality of the work to be performed, and it has an
empty RRT buffer. It keeps on performing its task with the aim to minimize the pain w. If the task
requires any information to be sent the pain c is incremented. Then the robot starts sensing for the
communication signal from its neighbors. If no signal is received the robot starts scanning for
neighbors. If no neighbor units are around the robot will take one RRT step, through RRT forward
propagation block in Fig. 2, and push the initial location node information into the RRT buffer as
shown in Table 1. By doing so the robot has acquired an increment in the pain c. More c represents
that the urge to communicate is more. The physical displacement of robot and the RRT buffer state at
each step for RRT Forward Block is shown in Fig. 1.
After reaching the new location node the robot again scans its environment for any robot in its
communication range. If no robot is found, it again goes through RRT forward propagation block.
Each time the pain c increases and a new location node is reached to scan other robots. If even after
three steps no robots are detected in scanning. The robot will check for the greater pain among c and
w. If c is still greater than w the robot will wait some finite amount of time and keep on decreasing c.
When c becomes less then w the robot makes the value of c equal to zero, which means the message to
be transferred is lost. The robot then return to

Significance Of The Bystander Effect In Elie Wiesel s Night
In the year of 1964, a woman named Kitty Genovese was murdered in plain sight of her on looking
New York City neighbors, however, none of them attempted to help or notify the authorities. This
event gave rise to the term Genovese Effect otherwise known as the Bystander Effect . The name
refers to the phenomenon that occurs when large groups of people don t take the responsibility of
helping in a dire situation. Unsurprisingly, when reading the book Night , by Elie Wiesel, many
readers see a direct correlation between the story and the bystander effect. Towards the beginning of
Night , we see the first instance of the bystander effect shown when nobody living in Sighet does
anything to heed Moishe s warnings. This closely resembles a study done by SoulPancake in which
people were to watch a product presentation, (in this case about a tent), the catch being that everyone
in the room except for the test subject knew that the presenter would purposely fail to assemble the
product. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to this, the smallest group consisting of only one person, (the test subject), had an average
time for help to be given of only three minutes and nineteen seconds. Moishe s predicament in the
book mimics the study as nobody in the large population was willing to lend a hand, (or believe in),
the struggling person. Second, the bystander effect is seen in Night when all the Jewish people of
Sighet were confined to a ghetto. According to Jason Marsh and Dacher Keltner, a study was
performed in the wake of the murder of Genovese in which differently sized groups of people would
communicate to each other via an intercom. In this experiment however, there was a single person
helping with the study who would pretend to have a seizure while conversing with other participants.

The Never-Ending Cycle In George Orwell s Animal Farm
The Never Ending Cycle
Sara Moehring
Like animals to the slaughter. This phrase has been used since biblical times, describing an
unconcerned manner unaware of an impending catastrophe. Perhaps there is some relation to George
Orwell s Animal Farm? Was this intentional? In this dark fairy tale, George Orwell describes a mid
20th century farm in England that has been taken over by its overworked, mistreated animals. The
humans are replaced by pigs, who eventually end the cycle worse than it began. The animals chased
out a tyrant, just so they could be repressed by a power just as terrible. The worst thing was, that they
couldn t fight back. They lacked the education and knowledge required to defend their basic rights.

The phenomenon of transculturación can best be described as being expres(ando) las diferentes fases del proceso transitivo de una cultura a otra, el proceso implica también necesariamente la pérdida o desarraigo de una cultura precedente . Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The election was a landslide and the days of a white owned tyrannical government was over, or at least that s what the native people were led to believe. One British condition in the Lancaster Agreements was the ensured protection of white farm owners for the first ten years of the new government. These conditions simply said were willing seller, willing buyer meaning that land would not be acquired forcefully from any already functional farms. After the term of the agreement was up, the government had control of redistributing the land to the people. For the first ten years redistribution was slow and most of the land was still in the hands of the white commercial farmers. During this period President Mugabe took out enormous loans from the World Bank and invested it in institutions designed to fit the luxurious standards of the elite. They awarded the majority of usable land to the elite of Zimbabwe, while the majority of the country was rapidly growing poorer, and paying for the government s outstanding loans through a process called Economic Structural Adjustment Program. There are specific times when this is common, when your car does not get enough air during starting and it chokes, when cars are not tuned properly, during cold weather the level of carbon monoxide being emitted increases due to more fuel to start the car, and also at high altitudes. These nitrogen oxides are given off by the high pressure in the automobiles engine where nitrogen and oxygen atoms in the air react and then form the nitrogen oxide. All of these pollutants effect the environment and people in a negative way. Next we will take a look at what exactly these pollutants do to us. The most dangerous and widespread of all pollutants are hydrocarbons. Hydrocarbons emitted by automobiles create smog, which in turn acts as a ground level ozone layer and causes many health ... • 28. Coffin, Urns, And Webcast Funerals By Edward Wong Funerals, like all industries, are changing with the times. The fact that funerals can be referred to as an industry shows just how much they have changed. At one time a funeral was a ritual that offered support to a community by allowing them to fall back on beliefs. Funerals now are less impactful. A funeral today is deritualized and rationalized. They are more of an obligation than a ritual for support. The article Coffin, Urns, and Webcast Funerals by Edward Wong is a perfect example of the deritualization of funerals. It gives examples of how funerals have become less interrupting and tragic. Just the idea of not having to physically be at a funeral to see it is deritualization. The purpose of this isn t to add to the funeral for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Effects Of Murder In Macbeth Murder is a damaging act to one s mind. After committing/assisting in a murder, the mind is changed, and changes the overall person as well. These changes are different in all situations. They depend on the level of involvement, what the person is like before, and how violent the actual murder is. The most impactful element, however, is the violence of the murder. For example, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were described by Shakespeare both before and after the murder. This helps readers to understand the characters mindsets and how the event has shaped them. One of the best examples of murder s influence on the mind comes from Shakespeare s play Macbeth. Before committing any murder, Macbeth was lighthearted and not at all serious. Even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If anything, real people are affected more. This part of the brain is involved with moral sensitivity. In a study conducted with soldiers, this area was more active when the soldier was aware of shooting an innocent person in the simulation. there was consistently greater activity in the lateral portion of the OFC when subjects imagined shooting civilians. A region of the brain that tends to be less active during murder is the lingual gyrus. This region is the part of the brain that would justify a murder. Increased activity would be seen when soldiers would kill enemies. This could explain why the effect isn t as drastic on the brain when the killing seems justified, versus the orbitofrontal cortex being more active in more of the unjustified murders, which can tend to be more ... • 31. I Am A My Project On Architecture For my final photojournalism project I decided to take pictures of really tall buildings in London such as the Shard. For a while I wasn t sure what I was going to do my project on and I was thinking about doing it on the process of opening and closing a local shop like Paul s. I wasn t really that motivated by that topic so I soon forgot about it. The idea to do my project on architecture came from my visit to the London Eye. When I was there I realized how vast and large London was and how many buildings occupied it. I was amazed how tall and massive some of the buildings were and a couple of them in particular stood out to me. After my visit there I decided I would pick one famous building in London to photograph and then add other pictures to my project that were less known, but equally as interesting looking buildings. I wanted to try and photograph the buildings from the ground up to really try and capture how big they actually were. I also didn t want to shoot the buildings directly head on. I wanted my pictures to be of interesting angles of the buildings. I decided that in order to capture the look I wanted for these photographs I had to use a different lens. I used a zoom lens that helped me focus in on the top of the buildings and make the image appear a lot clearer. Additionally, I placed the camera really low to the ground and angled the camera directly up and down to get the style that I wanted. When I looked at these pictures on my camera I was amazed how ... • 36. M2M Communication System for Networked Robots with Low... Initially the robot has pain w, set according to the quality of the work to be performed, and it has an empty RRT buffer. It keeps on performing its task with the aim to minimize the pain w. If the task requires any information to be sent the pain c is incremented. Then the robot starts sensing for the communication signal from its neighbors. If no signal is received the robot starts scanning for neighbors. If no neighbor units are around the robot will take one RRT step, through RRT forward propagation block in Fig. 2, and push the initial location node information into the RRT buffer as shown in Table 1. By doing so the robot has acquired an increment in the pain c. More c represents that the urge to communicate is more. The physical displacement of robot and the RRT buffer state at each step for RRT Forward Block is shown in Fig. 1. After reaching the new location node the robot again scans its environment for any robot in its communication range. If no robot is found, it again goes through RRT forward propagation block. Each time the pain c increases and a new location node is reached to scan other robots. If even after three steps no robots are detected in scanning. The robot will check for the greater pain among c and w. If c is still greater than w the robot will wait some finite amount of time and keep on decreasing c. When c becomes less then w the robot makes the value of c equal to zero, which means the message to be transferred is lost. The robot then return to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Significance Of The Bystander Effect In Elie Wiesel s Night In the year of 1964, a woman named Kitty Genovese was murdered in plain sight of her on looking New York City neighbors, however, none of them attempted to help or notify the authorities. This event gave rise to the term Genovese Effect otherwise known as the Bystander Effect . The name refers to the phenomenon that occurs when large groups of people don t take the responsibility of helping in a dire situation. Unsurprisingly, when reading the book Night , by Elie Wiesel, many readers see a direct correlation between the story and the bystander effect. Towards the beginning of Night , we see the first instance of the bystander effect shown when nobody living in Sighet does anything to heed Moishe s warnings. This closely resembles a study done by SoulPancake in which people were to watch a product presentation, (in this case about a tent), the catch being that everyone in the room except for the test subject knew that the presenter would purposely fail to assemble the product. ... Moishe s predicament in the book mimics the study as nobody in the large population was willing to lend a hand, (or believe in), the struggling person. Second, the bystander effect is seen in Night when all the Jewish people of Sighet were confined to a ghetto. According to Jason Marsh and Dacher Keltner, a study was performed in the wake of the murder of Genovese in which differently sized groups of people would communicate to each other via an intercom. In this experiment however, there was a single person helping with the study who would pretend to have a seizure while conversing with other participants. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The same thing happened with communism, as Stalin left much of the country penniless and helpless, and put people to death if they showed the slightest resistance to his regime. The pigs come into power after revealing they have been teaching themselves to read and write from an old spelling book which had belonged to Mr. Jones children, and which had been thrown upon the rubbish heap.
