Design Brief:
You are required to design and make a prototype
for a shoe that can be easily transported. It must
be inspired by Alexander McQueen but you can
draw on other design influences also. It must be
available flat-packed and be made from Plywood,
MDF, Acrylic and/or Polypropylene.

TARGETS FOR DEVELOPMENT
• Include some quotes in your Alexander McQueen research. It would be nice to see you
present this in a more creative way.
• Include a wider range of images in your inspiration board. It would be nice to see colour
palettes, textures, mechanisms and possible even furniture that you could take inspiration
from. Try not to have any gaps in your inspiration board.
• Attempt the amber questions in the product analysis too – and I am confused as to which
one is your Primary research? They both look secondary to me.

3. Alexander McQueen was a
London-based, English
fashion designer who was
head designer of the Louis
Vuitton Givenchy fashion
line, before starting his own
line. He is known for having worked
as chief designer at Givenchy
from 1996 to 2001 and for
founding his own Alexander
McQueen label.[2] His
achievements in fashion
earned him four British
Designer of the Year awards
(1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003),
as well as the CFDA's
International Designer of the
Year award in 2003.[2]
McQueen committed suicide in
2010 at the age of forty.
He attended
Carpenters Road
Primary School,
started making
dresses for his
three sisters at a
young age, and
announced his
intention to
become a fashion
designer.
People liked his designs because it
was different and unique unlike other
brands it was always inspired by an
object and this what people liked
about his designs it was different and
that was found special.
What I found that was inspiring
in his works was that he
related his clothes to objects
such as birds etc. and used
feathers to make his dress to
look like a bird and his shoes
the way he uses variety of
colours that inspires me to
make it colourful and unique
just like his is and the uses of
different kinds of shape etc..

4. Inspiration Mood board - Shoes

Adidas
What has inspired me to use
timberlands as one of my
inspirations is the fact that they are
boots, what Alexander Mc Queen
has also in co-operated in his
designs which is an ankle length
heeled shoes and timberlands also
come in heels and they are
obviously boots!!
What has inspired me to use
Adidas as on of my
inspiration is because of the
patterns that come along
with it such as the stripes
however Alexander Mc
Queen has also produced
designs with patterns and
shapes included.
I am going to use the
structure of the timberland
boot and shape the heels
into the style of
Alexander Mc Queen and
uses. The use of Adidas
shoes to inspire the designs
and patterns that will be
based upon the shoes!!
The colours inspired me to
add lots of it to my shoes
and use variety's of colours
so it can be considered as a
part of the design and be
relatable to the Alexander
Mc Queen ones and show
inspiration from the designs.

Normally Jordan's is worn up to
15-25.
Cost:
This shoe is normally around £90.
Environmental issues:
Nike is touting the sneaker as being the first
product in its companywide “Considered” initiative,
under which all products would be designed to
reduce waste and incorporate environmentally
friendly materials. The sneaker uses a minimal
amount of adhesives and glues that are
considered environmentally unfriendly, instead
relying on a system of interlocking panels, which
meant designing new machines to produce the
product.
Size:
The shoe comes in lots of sizes such
as infants junior and in adult sizes.
The shape of the shoe is like a boot
type meaning its ankle length.
Materials:
Leather, canvas, rubber, suede/nubuck
and/or synthetic man-made materials
depending on which type of Air Jordan.
Aesthetics: The shoe looks very
comfortable to wear it has
various of colours such as red
black white and grey. The shoe it
self feels smooth and the leather
gives it texture.
Safety:
It has grip on the bottom of the
shoe in case of slipping or falling
this helps you to not slip and
secures your footsteps.
Function/use:
This shoe is usable in anyway
possible you can do sports in it and
go out its stylish and fashionable for
any events or occasions and
comfortable for any sport related
activity's.

Function/use:
Timberlands are really comfortable to wear
and its both fashionable and stylish and
with any clothing special in the season of
winter .
Cost:
Timberlands are really expensive it is
affordable for those we are capable but for
those who aren't it’s a bit of a money
timberlands are £120 and goes higher
depending on what sizes you are the bigger
the more the smaller the less amount of
money.
Aesthetics:
The shoe is orange it feels like the suede
material and it leather on the top of the
shoes near the ankle. it has laces to the up
and the timberland sign I the corner of the
shoe
Customer:
Both genders can wear this shoe you don't need to
be a girl or a boy to wear this shoe its unisex and
its made for everyone. But normally ages 15-30 get
them.
Environmental issues:
The esteemed Timberland name also
symbolizes corporate social
responsibility, eco-friendly practices,
and community service thanks to its
continuous global efforts and
especially its Earth keepers collection
shoes, which are partially made with
recycled materials.
Size:
Timberlands come in every sizes from
infant , junior to adults it comes in all sizes.
Its boots so it comes near or over the
ankles.
Materials:
Timberlands are made from leather and
waterproof material so it doesn’t get wet
and ruin the shoe because the shoe is to be
worn at winter season when it rains and the
material protects it.
Safety:
It has grip on the bottom of the shoe
in case of slipping or falling this helps
you to not slip and secures your
footsteps. Timberlands has these lines
on the bottom which is made out of
rubber.
