Summary Of The Episode Remains To Be Seen
Goffman (1963) refers to stigma as being a disorder that an individual carries, it is a mark of
shame in which something unusual or bad about the person is exposed. When people express an
impression to the manner they want to present their self, they play a virtual identity to avoid
exposing their actual identity because it might be stigmatized. Goffman (1963) also mentions
when people are stigmatized they worry about how others see them, which is the similar to how
we feel when performing a certain role to keep what we consider normal people from finding out
the truth about our shame a characteristic of what we think is abnormal/weird to other people.
Glacalone Rosenfeld (1989) compare social situations to interviews, an approach where an
individual selects the perception and behavior to reflect their good qualities to the person they
are performing for. Despite trying to give a reasonable impersonation of one self, people run the
risk of being discreditable, which is a stigma that is not readily perceivable to others. Allan
(2014) also discusses that some people are already discredited, when normal people are readily
aware about a person s stigma as they try to pretend that they do not notice, or the person who is
already stigmatized plays it off to show or perceive their shame... Show more content on

It is not readily perceivable that Dexter is a killer, due to the fact that he has this impression of
being a good guy . The serial killer is in danger of exposing his actual identity because of the
situation he had placed himself in, which is forgetting where he had placed the body after getting
himself into an accident and sustaining a concussion. The mark of shame the character possesses is
that of a murderer, however, in this particular condition, the people watching the show already
know his what his stigma is so in some way he has been

Theme Of Love In A Midsummer Night s Dream
An Analysis of Love in A Midsummer Night s Dream
Love within the modern society has taken on a flippant meaning, depending on the phraseology
used around the context of the word. Love is used interchangeably with the idea that I love apple
pie to I love this new car to the point in which the term love is devalued within our society. How
can one say they love their spouse or children and not devalue the true meaning of this intent,
when they claim to love apple pie as well? Within the play A Midsummer Night s Dream, a
careful evaluation of the various love within the play will reveal the difference in the types of love
one might feel to describe various situations and relationships. In Shakespeare s A Midsummer
Night s Dream, love ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Titania wakes from a sleep to fall in love with Bottom, who has the head of an ass, while
Lysander awakes to find himself in love with Helena, who he has shown no interest prior to the
application of the love juice (Bevington, 2014, p. 55). This love juice application is the ultimate
form of forced love, in which there is manipulation of the mind to induce the love, rather than a
change in the heart to create a true love. A true love creates a romantic love in which two people
feel the love between them, and this leads into the second form of love depicted by Shakespeare,
the love described as Eros love, is the love between Lysander and Hermia. Eros love is a love
that cannot be obtained between siblings or friends, but only attainable within a form of erotic
and sexual love, as found between two lovers, such as husband and wife (Moseley, n.d.). The
love between the two of these characters is a real love that does not require a love potion to
create the love. Hermia displays this love well with her statement I would rather my father
looked but with my eyes , where she indicates the love she has for Lysander, can only be seen
through the lens of her eyes (Bevington, 2014, p. 47). This love comes from the truest sense of
the word where they each have a desire for the other, from a love that requires no outside influence
or assistance, but is created in the heart of each of the lovers. Parental

Wood Thrush
The data from the harvested stand and unharvested stand shows that wood thrush would likely be
able to find a suitable breeding, nesting, and foraging habitat in this section of the Vermont National
Forest (Table 1), particularly in the unharvested stand, though improved management practices
could make the harvested stand more suitable. Wood thrushcommonly hide their nests under leaves
in a shady area in the midstory level, so it is important to have vertically and horizontally diverse
stands (Hagenbauch et al. 2011 a). The unharvested stand provides higher quality nesting and
breeding areas due to the higher density of stems in the midstory and canopy and greater canopy

Results are expected to vary due to site characteristics and management histories (Hoover et al.

to our estimate being lower than the regional estimate of 116 Mg C/ha. Invasive species can affect
forest health, regeneration, and forest structure, so invasive species could have crowded out live
trees, decreasing the above ground live tree carbon pool. The unharvested stand has not been cut
in the past three decades so this factor should not affect the above ground carbon pool
significantly, though it has likely been harvested more than the old growth forest stands sampled
in Hoover et al. (2012) because there was no evidence of harvesting in those stands. Species
composition of the unharvested stand could have contributed to our estimate for the above ground
live tree carbon pool being slightly higher than the estimate from Smith et al. (2004). Our
unharvested stand was mainly made up of sugar maple and beech trees (Figure 2.), and these two
species contain more carbon than birch (Jenkins et al. 2003). For the harvested stand with 61.18

Benefits Of Telecommuting From A Human Resource Essay
Telecommuting is an increasingly popular organizational dynamic that presents unique challenges
for workers, managers, and human resources departments regarding how employees relate to their
organizations, as well as what telecommuters need from their managers to be satisfied, committed
employees. Much is known about how employees in private companies relate to their organizations
in a standard work setting. However, little is understood about how teleworkers in government
organizations relate to their organizations, and how managerial leadership behaviors influence the
organizationally related outcomes of telecommuters (Dahlstrom, 2013, p. 438). The aforementioned
citation establishes a brief perspicacious perception into the fundamental intention of this module
one case assignment. Needless to say, this case assignment will embellish upon both the advantages
and disadvantages of telecommutingfrom a human resource (HR) professional angle. In addition to,
deliberating upon the added usefulness of telecommuting when recruiting new talent. Likewise, this
paper will determine the influence that the telecommuting will have on the overall image of an
organization. Lastly, this paper will present some examples of training concerning efficient
telecommuting. With that being said, let s launch this case assignment by exploring the pros and
cons of telecommuting.

But at the same time I have a nostalgic feeling.

Dystrophin Analysis
Dystrophin is encoded by the largest known human gene Dmd, which spans about 2.4 Mb of
Xp21 and is composed of 79 exons (Den Dunnen et al., 1989; Koenig et al., 1987). Alternative
promoters and splicing produce tissue specific isoforms of dystrophin, including the full length
Dp427 in skeletal and cardiac muscles, Dp260 in retina, Dp140 in brainand kidney, Dp116 in
peripheral nerves, and ubiquitous Dp71 (Muntoni et al., 2003). Although predominant in skeletal
and cardiac muscles, Dp427 also expresses in testes (t Hoen et al., 2008). Dystrophin is a rod
shaped cytoskeletal protein linking extracellular laminin and intracellular F actin in muscles to
mediate force transmission as well as signaling transduction (Brenman et al., 1995; Ervasti and
Campbell, 1993; Koenig et al., 1988). Apart from the mechanical role, dystrophin also regulates
asymmetric division of satellite cells by regulating the polarity of a microtubule kinase MARK2

Like dystrophin, utrophin contains N terminal actin binding domain and C terminal dystroglycan
biding domain (Tinsley et al., 1992). The nucleic acids and amino acids of Utrophin respectively
share 65% and 80% identity with dystrophin (Love et al., 1989). Utrophin expresses ubiquitously in
many fetal and adult tissues, including liver, spleen, skeletal muscle and testis (Love et al., 1991).
Utrophin localizes in the neuromuscular junction of adult skeletal muscles, whereas it relocalizes to
the sarcolemma in regenerating muscle fibers (Amenta et al., 2011; Ohlendieck et al., 1991).
Sarcolemmal recruitment and upregulation of utrophin in the skeletal muscle of the mdx, the most
common animal model of DMD with a nonsense mutation in exon 23, imply the compensatory role
of utrophin for the loss of dystrophin (Amenta et al., 2011; Banks et al., 2014; Bulfield et al.,

Kant’s Practical Imperative in the Film The Insider Essay
This principle is referred to as Kant s practical imperative and is an important principle for an
ethical system which says that each human being is an end in himself or herself. No human being
should be thought of or used merely as a means for someone else end. Dr. Jeffrey Wigand the main
protagonist of The Insiderportrays himself to be a conflicted individual as he makes decisions
throughout the movie. Against an undetermined future, he ruminates about what he knows is right
for example, receiving threats, the phone ringing at odd hours. He makes most of his decisions by
weighing the cost and benefits, which may be referred to as Kant s principle the end justifies the

The Kantian perspective would consider Lowell actions to be unethical, as he encourage another
person to break his promise for a greater of social good. Lowell knows the extent of the pleasure,
but not the pain. The benefits of his encouragement would uphold the honor of 60 minutes and CBS
news, protecting the public against harm. The disadvantages and the cost would result in Wigand
and his family losing all benefits from the agreement. The possible lawsuit faced against CBS and
damages to the tobacco industry and its employees. If he does not encourage Wigand, its just result
in vice versa, he would receive the benefits and the tobacco industry and employees are protected. It
would costs harm to public if they do not know the truth. In conclusion it can be seen that both
Wigand and Bergman used each other as means to one anothers end.
Not actually being in his position it would be difficult to decide to what my actual emotions
would be, based on the fact that I would be putting my family in danger to protect the public. I
would have probably done the same as it would be my moral obligation and the right thing to do.
Kant s duty based ethics says that some acts are wrong or right because of the things or situations
that are related and people have a duty to act in accordance, regardless of the good or bad
consequences that may be produced.
Dr. Wigand decision is an example of goodwill as he disregarded the concern of consequences of

Government Control Over Surveillance
In today s society we are being watched way too much. Some of the times we are being watched,
we know about it and other times, we don t. The government, with a few clicks of a button, can
watch what websites you go to, your text messages, even the pictures you send to your
grandmother last Christmas, without your knowledge of them doing so. They hold too much
power over surveillance of U.S. citizens. There are plenty of incidents where the NSA (National
Security Agency) was caught taking files of citizens messages, incoming and outgoing phone calls.
Governmental surveillance is going too far, and now it seems like they are watching you at every
corner. It is overwhelming. The governmenthas a great deal of control over surveillance because
they can watch anyone through cameras, messages, and spy on people through the data from phone
companies all over.

If the government wants information on you badly enough, they will dig into your sent
messages and have people one step ahead of you. Remember that big brother is always watching
you. Just like in the book, The Codebreaker, the Puppet Master talks about how the government
is and says It s time for both of us to collect some observation data. I ll do it for fun (Petry 2). The
government and the Puppet Master have the watching over people together. When you think about
cases where the government can pull up messages you send to people in court, they do not get the
information from you directly, they get it indirectly from your phone history. They can also pull
your call log, the duration of the call, where you called from and much more. The government has

La RepresentaciГіn Social del SIDA Essay
La subjetividad es un efecto de los lenguajes socialmente construГdos, es una producciГіn de la
cultura. El lenguaje crea y reproduce diferentes formas subjetivas de representaciГіn social. A partir
de Freud y Lacan, el lenguaje es pensado como un tejido sГіlido, donde se constituye un juego de
representaciones: el juego en que el lenguaje tiene la tarea de representar el sujeto y el objeto, lo

Persuasive Literary Devices In Could We Be Amusing...
Could We Be Amusing Ourselves to Death?
The evolution of technology has become indescribable. Technology is prevalent in our society, as
well as its portrayal in the media, a seemingly essential aspect of our everyday lives. Although
many idolize how technology has improved our lives, many fail to recognize technology s faults.
By using three persuasive literary devices (pathos, logos, and ethos), Neil Postman expresses his
concern for technological advancement and possible failure in the book Amusing Ourselves to
Death. Logos appeals to logic; when using a persuasive device such as logos, you are using
logical reasoning to appeal to the reader. When using logos, you must include facts, statistics,
and citing credible sources. By using ethos, the author conveys his ideas while being well aware
of what he is talking about by utilizing credible sources. Pathos, however, conveys the author s
ideas by appealing to the reader s emotions. Postman does an outstanding job of orchestrating a
piece using the most popular persuasive elements. Postman was able to incorporate all three of
these devices into his book, but the most prominent one in my opinion, and that helps to best
convey Postman s point, is logos; statistics and facts are two things you very rarely can fight
against. Over and over Postman uses facts on how the media is basically dumbing us down. For
example, Postman pointed out that with the rise of the televised age there was then a decrease in
literacy.

Large Lake Essay
Michigan s literally translation from the Ojibwa nation is Large Lake but the natives know it by
the Great Lakes State. These names come from the history and prominence of the water features
throughout the state. The beginning of shaping the current landscape of the state was with the
glaciers. Glaciers are large bodies of ice that travel across land leaving behind deposits and
reshaping the land as it moves. The most common features are moraines, drumlins, eskers, till
plains, valley trains, kames, and kettles.
Moraines are are long lines of ridges and festoons of hills composed essentially of boulder clay or

The present day physical landscape of Michigan was not accomplished until the late Pleistocene.
The Midwest was dominated by four massive glaciers with Michigan s average glacial drift
ranging from 200 to 300 feet and a thickness of 1,000 feet in some locations (2017, DNR).
Michigan s glacial deposits are estimated to three hundred over the entire state (2009, Berquist).
The melting allowed the liquefied water to carry the various rocks and soils in landscape deposits.
As the melting increased, the weight of the glacier on the Michigan basin was decreasing. With
less pressure on the basin, it began to rebound into its original shape while maintaining the
integrity of the glacial deposit landforms. About fourteen thousand years ago, the Wisconsin
Glacier covered the entirety of Michigan with its northernmost head at the Hudson Bay and
stretching to the banks of the Ohio River as shown in Figure 1 (2017, DNR). These glacial
movements were guided by the pre glacial rivers that were further carved by the massive ice sheets
to carve valleys. Although drainage was occurring in the Great Lakes region during the pre glacial
area, it is nearly impossible to reproduce its exact original features (2009, Berquist). Many lobes
of the glaciers sculpted the current boundaries of the Great Lakes. One of these was the Huron,
Erie Lobe which shaped the basins of lakes Huron and Erie (2009, Berquist). Lake Superior was

Ambiguism In The Demon Lover By Elizabeth Bowen
The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen s is set in London during World War II. Bowen adopts a
common folklore theme of the demon lover in her short story in which a woman is left
traumatized during the blitz in World War II. The story follows a married middle age woman
who is haunted by the ghost of her love from her youth. This ghost was known to be killed in the
First World War nearly twenty five years earlier. Bowens focuses on the atmosphere to create a
disturbing ambiguity leading to many interpretations to what seems like a simple ghost story; the
reader wonders if the ghost is a supernatural body or a disquieting delusion that Mrs. Drover
observes. The main message conveyed in this story is that no bad deed goes unpunished. Mrs.

Bowen then uses a flashback to link this letter to the dead fiance. Mrs. Drover thinks back to her
former nameless fiance who went off to fight during World War I and was presumably killed,
this vision reinforces the sense of him potentially being the demon lover of the title. She is
keenly aware of her surroundings after reading this letter: the atmosphere such as the striking of
the clock, the weather, and particularly, a sense of strangeness. The letter lying on the table
compels her to imagine the various possibilities for how the letter got there in the first place. She
believes the letter written by K is some sort of threat from a ghost. This letter greatly unnerves
her and she rushes upstairs and begins to pack her things. She then rushes into a taxi only to see
the face of the driver as her demon lover, she begins to scream and pound the glass between
them. Perhaps the driver of the taxi Akca, 2 was the soldier, incarnated as a demon has come to
retrieve the damned Mrs. Drover. In addition, it can be thought of as the ghost of World War I
coming back to haunt World War II. The setting is that of the empty streets of London, the
inhabitants had all fled their homes to escape the destruction that came with war. There is a

Flood Narrative ( Genesis 6-9 ) Vs. Epic Gilgamesh And...
Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) vs. Epic Gilgamesh, Tablet XI The Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9)
and the Epic of Gilgamesh, Tablet XI have certain parallels that are undeniable, yet many
noticeable differences. The parallels are strange yet oddly common in any flood narrative and the
differences often lie behind the reasons, responses, and decisions made by the main characters. In
both texts, each of the main characters, Noah and Uta napishti, were ordered to build an ark or a
boat due to an incoming flood. In Genesis, Godtells Noah, Make yourself an ark of cypress wood,
make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch (Genesis 6:14). Noah obeys God s
orders and indeed builds an ark. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Uta napishti... Show more content on

This is logical to due to the fact that Noah only had his family and animals on the ark, while Uta
napishti has his family, friends, animals, silver and gold, and all valuables needed to reestablish
the earth once the floods had passed. Once the floods did indeed pass, the Noah s ark stopped in
the mountains of Ararat and Uta napishti s boat stopped at Mount Nimush. However, both Noah
and Uta napishti had to wait and make sure that the floods had truly stopped. Genesis reads, The
waters continued to abate until the tenth month...on the first day of the month, the tops of the
mountains reappeared (Genesis 8:5). Similarly, Epic Gilgamesh reads, One day and a second,
Mount Nimush held the boat fast, allowed it no motion, a third day and a fourth, Mount Nimush
held the boat fast, allowed it no motion (Gilgamesh, XI, 143 145). It s a coincidence that both of
these mountains are located in the Middle East. After enduring a catastrophic flood, Noah and Uta
napishti had to remain in their shelter for days on end. Nevertheless, these men are admirable for
their dedication and perseverance. Unfortunately, Noah had to persevere significantly longer time
than Gilgamesh. In the Epic Gilgamesh, the flood only lasted six days and seven nights: For six
days and nights, there blew the wind, the downpour, the gale, the Deluge, it flattened the land. But
the seventh day when it came, the gale relented, the Deluge ended

trading partners, so different to the barren and resourceless peninsulas of Scandinavia, efficiently
moved throughout areas of Europe, violently conquering as they travelled. The Norwegians
moved towards Western Europe, invading countries such as Scotland, Ireland, Greenland, Iceland
and Newfoundland. The Danish invaded to the South, conquering areas such as the Frankish
empire, Seville and Southern Gaul. The Swedish raiders moved towards the East, invading parts
of Russia, Constantinople, Baghdad, and it is suggested moved even as far as Western China.
(David M. Wilson, The Vikings and Their Origins (New York: A W Publishers inc. 1980), 65 71)
United by a common Language, the Scandinavian people are portrayed by history as little more
than violent thieves, who used force to invade Europe, and terrorised the continent for well over a
century.
The Viking attacks throughout Europe were perhaps best characterised by two things: the
inhumane violence and savagery of the attacks, and also the swiftness, stealth and incredible
mobility of the people. Many records of Viking attacks create

Erving Goffman s Dramaturgical Theory
Abstract
With the development of modern technologies, millions of individuals are constantly connected
with the digital world, where some individuals may correlate social media platforms as real life.
However, it is reasonable to state that due to the vulnerability of teenagers and their difficult
transformations, both mentally and physically, social media could have various influences on
teenagers, that including low self esteem. Erving Goffman s dramaturgical theory can help explain
how one s identity development is framed while on these social sites as well as while offline.
Using collected data, qualitative methods have shown that such things like surveys that are
randomly sampled can help approach this link between social media and an individual s sense of self
. Although there were no significant relations identified, results indicate that social media platforms
can possibly have a negative effect on individuals sense of self.
Keywords: social media, adolescents, low self esteem.
Introduction
Social media is considered to be websites and applications that allow individuals to participate in
social networking (Spies Shapiro, 2014). Erving Goffman s dramaturgical theory suggests that life
is like a play in which people are the actors. Through social media it can be possible that some may
learn how to play their role/identity through the socialization of others. In recent years, social media
has changed dramatically, allowing individuals to share feelings, ideas,

Research Paper On Wicca
Paganism is the oldest religion or form of worship that existed in the world. By general definition,
anyone who does not follow one of the mainstream religions is a Pagan (i.e. anyone who does not
believe in one God). Pagans look after the Mother Earth, usually worship a number of deities both
feminine and masculine.
Witchcraft is not a religion it is a craft practised by witches and wizards. It is often referred to as a
craft of the wise . This is because traditionally, the wise woman (or man) who lived closer to the
woods or nature, would know all the herbs growing nearby. They would use those herbs to heal
others.

It is often referred to as religion of the witches.
Unlike paganism and witchcraft, which do not have set of rules to follow Wicca is organised and
has a form of a doctrine that needs to be followed to call oneself a
Wiccan.
The three terms are often used interchangeably, but in reality they re not the same.
Every Wiccan is a Pagan. This is because Wicca falls into definition of Paganism. It does not follow
one God.
Having said that NOT every pagan is a Wiccan. There are many other paths such as Druidism,
Native American, Goddess Spirituality to name a few. Some pagans may follow an eclectic form
meaning a mix of various religions.
Finally, most Wiccans are witches. In fact in some sources I read that every Wiccan is a witch. I
have friends who are Wiccan, but do not follow the craft, and therefore
I ll go with most Wiccans are probably witches.

Intoredance And Intolerance In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
The definition of the word martyr as defined by Merriam Webster is a person who voluntarily
suffers death as the penalty of witnessing to and refusing to renounce a religion. When many people
think of a martyr their first instinct in their mind is not to think of witchcraft and the town of
Salem. The play written by Arthur Miller titled The Crucible is based on real events that correlate
with this definition. The Crucible depicts the 1692 SalemWitch Trials that transformed the town of
Salem into hysteria. The start of the trials began way before Abigail Williams accused one of the
townspeople of witchcraft, but when many girls were caught dancing and singing in the woods.
The trials continued for less than a year but over 200 people were accused. With the breakout of
hysteria and intolerance the town everyone seemed to turn on eachother. Giles Corey embodied the
theme of the play The Crucible by being intolerant and going against the others, eventually costing
him his life.
To begin, the theme of The Crucible is intolerance. To understand this theme you have to know
what Intolerance is. Unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behaviors that differ from one s own
is intolerance. The reason supporting why Giles Corey embodies intolerance is because in the play,
Giles was a dynamic character. This means that he went through a change throughout the play both
physically and emotionally. The change that we see Giles go through is when he becomes
intolerant and goes away from what majority of the others within Salem are believing, witchcraft.
The argument of the proof that Giles showed his neighbor,Ann Putnam, about the accusation of
witchcraft was another example of how he portrayed the theme throughout the play. Another lasting
impact that Giles has on the theme of the play is that was intolerant to a large group of Salem
townspeople whose main motive for witch accusations was for the dispute over land and wealth
within the community. The accusation of Giles and his wife Martha is directly because of that
dispute. Not only did the intolerance of the many people within the town caused Giles to change,
but unfortunately cost him his wife s and his own life.
A secondary thought to tie in with Giles and

The Allied Force Operational Level Joint Functions During...
Following their success in North Africa, the Allied decision to invade Sicily was an appropriate
next step towards defeating Axis powers. Operation HUSKY, the first phase of the Italian campaign,
supported the Allied strategic goals of opening Mediterranean shipping lanes, diverting German
forces off of the Eastern front and encouraging Italy to exit the Axis. HUSKY resulted in Allied
Forces securing the island, despite leadership failures and the ineffective coordination of joint
functions at the operational level. A two part analysis of the Allied Force operational level joint
functions during Operation HUSKY follows. The first will evaluate the joint function of command
and control using the three attributes of mission command from joint doctrine: commander s intent,
mutual trust, and understanding. The second will evaluate the integration of two of the remaining
joint functions using the definition of integration from joint doctrine. The Joint Force Commander
(JFC) utilizes command and control to exercise authority over assigned and attached forces within
his or her command. Command provides direction and motivation to individuals and units, whereas
control is the task of managing forces and the associated tasks required to accomplish the mission.
Effective command and control successfully balances the art of command with the science of
control and strengthens the commander s ability to make and execute decisions. Mission command

Meridian, by Alice Walker
The women of the late sixties, although some are older than others, in Alice Walker s fiction that
exhibit the qualities of the developing, emergent model are greatly influenced through the era of the
Civil Rights Movement. Motherhood is a major theme in modern women s literature, which
examines as a sacred, powerful, and spiritual component of the woman s life. Alice Walkerdoes not
choose Southern black women to be her major protagonists only because she is one, but because
she had discovered in the tradition and history they collectively experience an understanding of
oppression that has been drawn from them a willingness to reject the principle and to hold what is
difficult. Walker s most developed character, Meridian, is a person... Show more content on

Meridian s quest for wholeness and her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement is initiated by
her feelings of failure in living up to the standards of black motherhood. Meridian gives up her son
because she believes she will destroy his growth with guilt and she has her tubes tied after a painful
abortion (pg. 133). Walker investigated the idea of an African American structure of motherhood, as
she develops the protagonist, Meridian, who at first believes she cannot properly fulfill the
responsibility.
The author entered the conflict about the value of motherhood in which American feminists were
then, as they are now, engaged. Motherhood is also seen as a moral transformation, as a woman
comes to terms with being different in that she ceases to be an independent individual because she
is one way or the other attached to another her baby (FPS). Barbara Christian writes that Walker
combines the forces of traditional and feminist perspectives on motherhood, attempting a
compromise that would allow the protagonist to survive:
As many radical feminists blamed motherhood for the waste in women s lives and saw it as a
dead end for a woman, Walker insisted on a deeper analysis: She did not present motherhood itself
as restrictive. It is so because of the little value society places on children, especially black children,
on mothers, especially black mothers, on life itself. In the novel, Walker acknowledged that a mother
in this society is often buried

Bob Dylan said I woke up this mornin There were tears in my bed They killed a man I really
loved Shot him through the head (Arnove Zinn, pg. 492). This is the beginning showing his
tribute to George and how sad it was for a man to die that he really loved. The next point he
makes is trying to say he is innocent and should not have been lock up and had the key thrown
away. Bob Dylan said, Sent him off to prison For a seventy dollar robbery Closed the door
behind him And they threw away the key (Arnove Zinn, pg. 492). This is showing how he is
using the first time he was arrested to make him look innocent when the time he was killed in
jail was when he been convicted of killing a guard. Dylan said Prison guards, they cursed him As
they watched him from above But they were frightened of his power They were scared of his
love. Lord, Lord, So they cut George Jackson down. Lord, Lord, They laid him in the ground.
(Arnove Zinn, pg. 493). This the point he is showing that the guards killed him because they
were scared of his power that he had and the love that he could give and that they had to get rid
of him from taken over them from all of the people reading his book. That after he was killed it
started revolution in other prisons because of his book that everyone read and from him being
killed. That this is showing how the government was losing control and that they had to get rid
of him, so he would not take power away from the government anymore. This just shows how
Bob Dylan main points was to play tribute to him and to make look innocent and to be a very
powerful and loving man that will be missed. You can use this in argument to show how much he
will be missed. You can also use it show how power he was that it made Bobo Dylan write a song
about the guy. You could also use it in a history paper to tell about different time of the government

Informative Essay On Ufos
Reports of an alien UFO being intercepted by jet fighters have circulated the Internet. Residents
of an otherwise quiet English town were awoken to blasting jet engines earlier this month. Jet
fighters from a nearby military base scrambled toward the English coast to intercept what was
said to be a UFO. The UFO was reported by fisherman to have risen from the water. The flight
tracking of the jets showed that they were circling something. But the government reported that
it was not a UFO, but an Air France flight. New footage on YouTube taken by fisherman tell a
different story. UFO Dives Into Sea A recent YouTube video shows footage from a fishing boat
capturing jets and a helicopter circling a UFO. The YouTube channel Christopher Stokes
published the footage on May 25. It shows jets and a helicopter attempting to make contact with
a UFO before it dives into the sea. The fishermen are of course hysterical as the booming engines
of the jets buzz by before the UFO simply disappears into the water. A helicopter than does a
flyby, and the footage ends. Could this be real footage? If so, how did they get it off the boat?
Have those fishermen been assassinated? A Hoax or Possibly Real? The footage of the jets,

Enoxaparin is a highly acidic mucopolysaccharide. It is an anticoagulant drug that is used primarily
for prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or for patients that exhibit pulmonary embolism
(PE) that have underwent specific surgery. Enoxaparin functions as a serine type endopeptidase
inhibitor and targets antithrombin III. It binds to it and creates a vertex that irreversibly inactivates
clotting factor Xa. Enoxaparin binding to antithrombin III also accelerates the activity of
antithrombin III which is a serine protease inhibitor that modulates the activation of blood
coagulation. Enoxaparin inhibits the production of prothrombin to thrombin. Antithrombin III
inhibits thrombin, factors Xa, IXa, and XIa, as well as matripatase 3/TMPRSS7. With the presence
of enoxaparin its inhibitory activity is increased greatly. With the Xa being catalyzed by the
attachment of enoxaparin, the translation of prothrombin to thrombin is decreased.

and physician either fail or don t work out in favor of the patient.
Sexual Misconduct Scenario:
I ve been involved with my physician for a couple of months now. There are a lot of factors
which make the relationship wrong mostly on his side: a huge age gap, his marriage amp;
family, the fact that he s a doctor. He also knows my father, who is a fellow doctor, and the
relationship started right when I practically committed suicide. It might be a stupid question, but
did he take advantage? I am fully in my right mind and did not feel abused in any way, but I

We started the relationship and after a few days, it dwindled. Now I feel abandoned and used.
The fact that the patient noted that she was fully in her right mind brings into play informed

They both have a very different style of painting but they do have similarities in some of their

Guernica is probably Pablo Picassos most famous work. It is a paintingthat expresses his most
influential political statements. It is about his personal reaction to the Nazi s casual bombing

There is death all over the painting and when you focus on a small part of the massive painting,

are hard to make out, each one has a different story behind it for example on the far left is a
woman with her head titled back, screaming in pain and misery while holding the lifeless body
of her dead child. This is said to be one of the most disturbing and memorable images in the
painting. To the right of that figure is the head of a large white bull, which is the only unharmed
and calm figure from the chaos of figures. Beneath the mother holding her died child is a dead
/wounded man with his arm cut off and his other arm appears to hold a knife. The figure only
has his head and arms visible; the rest of his body is overlapped by the different figures. In the
middle, there is scared horse standing with his mouth open screaming in pain because a sword
cuts up the whole right side of his body. On the right side of the painting, there are three more
different women. One woman who is looking up at a cube thing hanging from the ceiling at the
top of the painting. Another women is leaning out of the window of a burning house, her long
extended arm holding a lamp, while the third woman appears trapped in the burning building,
screaming in fear and horror (Khan). All of the women s faces show signs of pain and agony.

Evaluation Of The Boot Camps
Introduction Boot camps became a force to be reckoned with in the 1980s. It was at first
imagined as a powerful apparatus for settling behavioral issues of high schoolers. This approach
was gotten from the military style of rectifying the conduct of blundering individuals from the
military. Boot camps for young people have turned into a well known disciplinary alternative for
guardians with juvenile kids. Regularly prescribed by instructors or by state equity frameworks as a
contrasting option to adolescent confinement focuses, the boot camps are unbending military
situations. Some are wild camps that show youngsters ingrained instincts in a military like setting,

Surrounded in a prison like atmosphere, the goal of these camps are to produce youth that are

Many United States governmental personnel were aware that victory was assured at this point.
According to General Henry Hap Arnold, Army Air Forces commander, as stated in his 1949
Global Mission, It always appeared to us that atomic bomb or no atomic bomb the Japanese were
already on the verge of collapse (Weber.) Though Japan was the first to attack the United States
that did not mean the war would follow in their favor. When the ending months of World War II
came around it had become clear which country had the greater advantage, and whom ultimately
stood on top. The resources available, damage taken, and military readiness deciding that the
United States had already won. The truth being that Japan had already lost months before
Hiroshima was attacked. The Japanese military had no way to make a comeback, and using a
nuclear weapon when this was so obviously clear is undeniably unwarranted. Due to Japan s
dwindling position in the war, turning the tides stood nearly impossible; nonetheless they
remained loyal to their Emperor in never giving up. Japanese soldiers believe that death came
before betraying their country. However, several powerful Japanese military personnel had
realized that to preserve Japan itself, surrendering was a small price to pay over annilliation. After
the Hiroshima attack on August 19, 1945, an article was published on the front page of Chicago

Homeschooling Vs. Private Schools
Education, after all, is a process intended to produce a product. So we have to ask ourselves: What
sort of product is being produced by the current system? (Prose 99). Education is something every
parent wants for their child, but many parents are starting to question modern days public and
private school systems. Nowadays, there are many educational options for students. Homeschooling
is an increasingly popular alternative to public and private schools. Homeschooling has many
advantages and disadvantages, but homeschooling is an option for students to benefit themselves
individually.
Reasons for homeschooling, over attending public or private school, vary greatly. Teyle Carbajal, a
homeschooled student in Midland Texas, began... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with reasons one might choose homeschooling, there are deeper benefits that can enhance a
student s education. One thing homeschooled students do not have are classmates. In a public or
private school there are around twenty five to thirty five kids in one class room. A large amount
of students of all different paces which can cause certain student s education to suffer. Ralph
Waldo Emerson, a well accomplished essayist, gave a speech to college graduates that would
soon be teaching. Emerson said to them, You have to work for large classes instead of
individuals; you must lower your flag and reef your sails to wait for the dull sailors... (Emerson
105). By holding back a class for slow learners, students who learn quicker loose interest. As a
result of lost interest, such students start receiving poor grades. A homeschooled student has no
classmates to hold them back from learning. On the other hand, if a student grasps concepts slower
than most, homeschooling offers more individualized help. A homeschooled student has one
teacher to their self or to share with any siblings, but not thirty four completely different
individuals. Carbajal said If I need any help I can spend as much time as I need... (Carbajal).
Carbajal has an advantage over public school students. She is the only student the teacher must care
about, therefore, Carbajal s teacher will spend as much time needed to help her understand
something fully.

A Report On Energy Efficiency
Abstract: Energy efficiency (EE) is an important objective in uplink wireless communications due
to the limited capacity of batteries in user equipment (UE). Consider the scenario in which the
access point (AP) serves a subset of UEs when available resources cannot support all of the UEs
quality of service (QoS) requirements. In this project, propose a scheduling metric to balance the
tradeoff between EE and fairness. Based on the scheduling metric, propose a suboptimal joint
scheduling and resource allocationalgorithm and a power allocation algorithm that maximizes the
system EE. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve a good tradeoff
between the system EE and fairness.
I.INTRODUCTION The booming demand for wireless applications and the relatively low battery
capacity in UE puts a premium on achieving high EE. With the growing popularity of green
communications, EE is becoming increasingly important. Previous work on energy efficient
resource allocation in OFDMA systems has mainly focused on downlink scenarios. Due to
constraints on individual UEs and the discrete nature of sub channel assignment uplink energy
efficient resource allocation is less tractable. In an uplink allocation algorithm is described to
maximize the minimum EE among all users.
In order to maximize the total EE of all UEs under individual power and rate constraints for the
UEs an efficient suboptimal algorithms are proposed.

Toni Morrison And Virginia Woolf s The Bluest Eye
Essentialists claim that women writers tend to avoid difficult societal issues, such as gender, race,
and political concepts. They critiqued that women prefer to be safe when it comes to the style of
their works, but that could not be farther than the truth. These women, have in fact, made a
tremendous impact on society and sculpted the way we see things in the world today. Toni
Morrison, author of The Bluest Eye, challenged the Essentialists claim by making a novel about
racism, and how it affected African American culture in the 20th century. Margaret Atwood, author
of The Handmaid s Tale, challenged this notion by addressing issues about sexual violence and
political issues, except in the shape of an extremist and dystopian world.... Show more content on

The characters who were apart of the African community are forced to accept themselves as the
outsiders , which has been told to them by the upper class white community. Morrison shows
how these stereotypes tormented the brains of many, sometimes to the point of losing their
minds. The black community was taunted by the white people, and Morrison made the focus of
the novel a young group of little girls who are just realizing the horrors of the world. Not only
does the novel discuss racism and it s effect on the black community, but it discusses the
unrealistic expectations of beauty in our society. Even the title of the novel The Bluest Eye
displays a stereotypical viewpoint of beauty. For example in the story Pecola Breedlove yearns
to have blue eyes. She hopes that one day she will be able to transform, and therefore be loved
by others because of her new blue eyes. Eventually, Pecola goes crazy, thinking that she has the
bluest eyes. Toni Morrison discussing an issue such as racism and unrealistic beauty standards is
surely not what I call a safe call, but instead, a bold and intimidating one. Personally, this felt like a
way of describing what happens to a person who wants to change themselves physically and
becomes distorted in the process...because it is, in fact, unrealistic to drastically change one s
appearance. Margaret

Musculoskeletal Disorders Assignment
Introduction
I am making an assignment on the musculoskeletal disorder to my employers from sport and
Fitness Company. So, I will explain how to prevent this disorder and what harm employers have
due to musculoskeletal disorders. I will evaluate and describe the treatment of this disorder and how
to treat with this disorder.
Functional role of the musculoskeletal system
Musculoskeletal system consists of all the major bones of the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and
tendons and joints, which works together to protect and support the internal structures and organs
and weight of the body, and body movement, and stability. The human skeletal system has 206
bones. So, using musculoskeletal system relates with those bones every time when we sit, stand,

The immune system normally makes antibodies for attacking bacteria and viruses which help to
fight infections. In rheumatoid arthritis, the immune system mistakenly sends antibodies to the
lining of the joints which attacks the tissue surrounding the joint causes inflammation. Inflammation
in rheumatoid arthritis is a long term condition. So, this thin layer of cells covering your joints to
become sore and swollen, releasing chemicals that damage bones, cartilage, tendons, and ligaments.
This condition should be treated quickly if not, these chemicals will lose shape and position and it
can destroy the joints completely. The risk of developing more rheumatoid arthritis by smoking,
eating lots of red meat and drinking lots coffee etc. Even the genes that you inherit from your
parents can have the risk developing rheumatoid arthritis.
Rheumatoid arthritis disease people have a greater chance of having a heart attack and strokes.
But this disease can be controlled by giving medicines. Smoking can increase the risk as well so it

We are 5 members in a group so we decided to do this usability test by acting as a novice user as we
are also newer to this software. We start constructing a Google doc. Here is the finding which we
noticed during this whole scenario.
BELOW GIVEN ARE THE STEP BY STEP ISSUES WHICH THE NOVICE USER FACED
WHILE FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONAL GUIDE AS PER OUR OBSERVATION.
1. пѓЁ as per the instructional guide, the statement says GO TO GOOGLE DOCS START A
SPREAD SHEEET thou, the information about Google docs is available but, no information is
available about the procedures of how to create a Google docs account.
As per our observation, the novice user faced the difficulty in opening creating the Google docs
account, without the information of the how to create a Google docs account, the novice user won
t be able to start working over spread sheet.
Plus, no information is provided regarding how to even start a spread sheet also.
In short a lack of information is provided about creating an account and sign in to create a spread
sheet
2. пѓЁ the novice user got stuck at point number 3, which says, CHOOSE THE DATA

Sociology Chapter Summary
In chapter 7 of our text, Sociology, A Brief Introduction by Richard Schaefer, social control is
discussed. According to the text, Social control is defined as techniques and strategies for
preventing deviant human behavior in any society (Schaefer, 159). An example used in the text to
explain this concept was informal norms such as dress codes introduced by peer groups in order
to, govern the behavior of their members (Schaefer, 159). Within society, a term that is commonly
known as deviance stems from social control. Deviance is exhibiting behavior that violates the
standards of conduct or expectations of a group or society (Schaefer. 165). Deviant behavior goes
against the social norms of society. One current event that has brought

Task: Explain how Kevin and Sadie change by the end of the novel
The Twelfth Day of July is a book by Joan Lingard. This book is about the discord between the
Catholic and Protestant religions. It centres on the characters of Kevin McCoy, who is Catholic,
and Sadie Jackson, who is Protestant and how their friendship develops despite the religious bigotry
which affects the country they live in. The TwelfthDay of July is a celebration in Northern Ireland,
for Protestants which started in the 18th century celebrating the Glorious Revolution and the
victory of Protestant King Billy over Catholic King James II at the Battle of Boyne in 1690.

turns around only to be confronted by Kevin. She tries to run out the kitchen and throws flour all
over the place as a distraction. She succeeded, she got out of the kitchen and hid in a stinky bin,
she heard voices outside the bin, Kevin giving orders to his friends to find her. The smell of the
bin made her wretch, but she could not leave it just yet, someone kicked the bin and she felt the
vibrations through her body. She felt like she was in there for an eternity. Eventually the voices
faded and she left the bin but not the area.

thinks this is strange, he goes down stairs and there is still no sign of Sadie. He decides to go to

Funding Sources (710 / 750) REVISED 12.30.2017 In order to develop ClotX, we will need to
pursue research grants offered by the organizations such as the DARPA, DoD, and NIH Small
Business Innovation Research (SBIR) programs, which provide billions annually to hundreds of
small health companies conducting research into new technologies. These programs provides
funding in three phases: proof of concept, research and development, and commercialization. In
the first phase, up to $150,000 in funding is provided to establish initial project feasibility and
create a proof of concept model. This funding provides for 60% of the initial cost required to
develop a proof of concept model for ClotX. To supplement this cost, we will also need to... Show

Our first target market will be commercialization in the military market, where we will seek
contracts with DARPA and the DoD to produce and supply ClotX for battlefield use. In the past,
the Army has paid tens of millions in contracts for a hemostasis product, most notably $29 million
for HemCon, a bandage application that turned out to be ineffective. The Navy has similarly paid
millions in contracts for a competing product, QuikClot. However, QuikClot has also produced to
have adverse health effects and faced difficulties in development and use in the field. Given the
failure of these products, the market space for a hemostatic product is unfilled and the Department
of Defense currently maintains tens of millions of dollars in open bid contracts for the production
and supply of a hemostatic product. One of these awards to procure ClotX for the military would
provide sufficient funding to create a production platform and pay for operational costs for
production. Based on ClotX s performance in military application, this will enable us to attract
more contracts from other military branches, including the Air Force and the Marines, which have
all previously sought similar hemostatic products in the past. Funding from these government
contracts combined with continued private investor funding will

Ironing out carbon
Ironing out Carbon Dioxide
Carbon Dioxide plays a key role in the atmosphere. This gas has properties that allow it to sustain
and hold in heat, which in turn warms the planet (EIA, 2004). Carbon, the primary component of
carbon dioxide; is also the essential molecule for life and is the most basic building block found in
all organic compounds. Human activities been blamed for the disruption of the earth s natural
carbon cycles and according to some studies, carbon is being added to the atmosphere faster than
the natural processes that sequestrate it. The massive carbon sinks that naturally regulated and
fixated excess carbon dioxide have been destroyed as humans have deforested ancient forests for the

One mans theory: A solution?
In 1990 John Martin an Oceanographer presented the idea that phytoplankton are responsible for
almost half of the photosynthesis that occurs on the earth.(Dopyra, 1996) Photosynthesis is an
important part of the carbon cycle, fixating carbon from the atmosphere and releasing oxygen as a
byproduct of this process. According to Martin s theory, growth is limited by the availability of iron
and if the oceans could be made more iron rich, the massive blooms of phytoplankton could fixate
massive amounts of carbon dioxide without harm to the environment.
Expectations ran high, and for over 10 years scientists raced to plan and execute experiments to
see if his theory would provide a solution for the damage that has been done to our planet through
mankind s industrialization efforts. Thousands of papers were submitted and published and
experiments were carried out to determine if seeding the ocean with iron was a simple solution to a
complex problem.
Experiments:
The first large scale iron fertilization project was carried out in October 1993 and named Ironex I.
The experiment was carried out 250 miles southwest of the

Incident Response Research Paper
. Traditional Incident Response 2.1 Incident Response Policy With the development of computer
technology especial Internet skills, computer has become an important part of human life. On the
same time, there are more and more attacks appearing. Hackers attempt to explore the
vulnerability of the host to gain unauthorized access privilege and make unauthorized use.
However, no all attack can be considered as an incident. Attacks can be classified as incidents only
if they meet the following characteristics (Torres, Alissa. Aug, 2014): 1) Access information assets
directly 2) Have a high confidence of success 3) Can threat the confidentiality, integrity, or
availability of information assets In other word, only success attacks can be viewed as... Show more

However, most advanced attack has the ability to hide their trails. The critical attack evidence may
be removed when the attack is finished. Because incident response is a passive method, it gives
attacker some time to hide themselves. Therefore, nowadays, traditional incident response policy is
beginning to lose the data collection ability. (Alberto, Camilli and Isabel, Chagas. Apr 12,2007)
2.Attack information is the best material for further identification. However, as we said before,
passive incident response policy cannot collection enough attack details, it causes the disability of
the further identification. Worse identification means giving more time for attacker to hide the
critical information which cause worse information collection. In sum, passive incident response
may suffer a vicious cycle of identification and information collection. In my opinion, this vicious
cycle is the biggest problem of the traditional incident response. 3. Most incident response do not
have enough protection method. The main purpose of such incident response policy is reducing the
attack damage and recovering the system. However, for some critical system such as programming
database, financial support system, even a small damage may cause huge loss. For such systems, a
better protection ability for incident response policy are extremely

Sante s Resume
Luc SantГ© s Resume is a personal account of cultural and socio economical changes throughout
Europe during the mid 20th century, and how they potentially correlated to impact his life. Resume
consists of nine different life summaries, each with introductory constants (Luc SantГ© birth
details, Lucien SantГ© s work history), before an opposing tale is expressed to conclude each
paragraph. These vary in positive and negative connotations, but the concluding argument SantГ© s
work puts forth aligns with the clichГ© that every action has a reaction . In essence, one slight
tweak in his life, or resume, starts a chain effect that differs each life from one another. SantГ©
constructs his own identityforemost, but also the identities of his parents... Show more content on

This repetitive identity can also be linked throughout the paragraphs, as opposing as they are, to
the text s primary themes. The importance of money is a constant in Resume, as paragraphs
beginning with SantГ© s father losing his job ends with his son struggling to survive, living in
poverty and fear, or performing criminal acts. In the two paragraphs in which Lucien SantГ© did
not fall out of an iron foundry job, Luc was educated and lived either a life of debauchery, or a
life as a Jesuit. The two vehemently opposed each other, but they both allowed Luc to live by
privileged means. This idea dictates that SantГ© believes the absence of parental income and
support almost consigns the child into a poor life near unchangeable, insinuating that SantГ© s
identity is one driven by pessimism.
SantГ© also constructs identities for his parents, the two individuals featured apart from himself.
He does this not by describing their characteristics and idiosyncrasies, but by stating the major
events they were involved in that eventually shaped his life. Often throughout Resume, SantГ©
describes how his parents shipped the family to a distant country, or at the very least away from
Verviers, inevitably failing in their quest to start a new, better life. It is also worth noting the one
time SantГ© s tale concludes as one of happiness and success, there is little parental involvement in
his choices

The Ethics Of The Bhopal Disaster
In the Business Ethics Foundation Terms class (September 2nd 2014), we discussed the ethical
implications of the Bhopal disaster on December 2nd and 3rd, 1983. A plant that belonged to
Union Carbide subsidiary had a chemical explosion, killing 10,000 lives (conservatively) and
affecting the livelihood of local and their descendants. Although many reasons have been offered up
to try to explain this disaster such as the poor establishment of the manufacturing plant, less
stringent labor laws, non exist environment laws, as well as the negligence in educating the public
and medical facilities in Bhopalabout the fatality of the pesticide. It is my opinion that the
government should also have placed strict boundary rules to limit populations moving into the
possible disaster zone. The government of Indias negligence lies in one or both of the following:
not assessing the risk of building a manufacturing plant close to a populated city, ignoring the
assessed risk inherent in the chemicals being manufactured, and jeopardizing the environment and
population of Bhopal. This is not to say that the Union Carbide and its subsidiary were blameless,
however the Government of India s lack of responsibility for its citizens can be proved when they
underrepresented the victims in the UCC s settlement actions in 1989. Due to these reasons, I will
argue in the following paragraphs that the Government of India has more responsibility than Union
Carbide in not only the tragedy but also for

What Causes War
Is war an invention or is it a biological need? We engaged in this intriguing argument with several
view. Some scholars tried to proof that warfare is a biological necessity but others assert that war
is something that is created. A number of studies define warfare as an act of violence, a struggle,
or a test of ability between groups, for a particular end. However, the general conception remains
that waris inevitable and is universal. Generalization about this particular phenomenon may be
problematic. Our way of life, and activities we engage in daily are affected by our culture. As
culture varies over time and space, it would be challenging to prove war is universal. So is
warfare inevitable, or even universal? Mead (1940:20) contends that war is an invention. With
this conception, this paper attempts to argue that warfare materializes as a means to manage in
some circumstance but not all. Firstly, to refute those who would argue that war is necessary
and universal Mead (1940:21) suggested that, societies will go to war if they have war as an
invention. This ties to the topic that war is created in particular social cultural context. For this
example, Mead references two groups, the Eskimos and the Lepchas of Sikkim described by
Geoffrey Gorer. Both groups neither concede war. The Lepchas was meek, and few may argue that
aggression wasn t their character. But the Eskimos, as Mead points out, were the opposite they
were more aggressive people. Yet, they didn t choose

  • 2. Summary Of The Episode Remains To Be Seen Goffman (1963) refers to stigma as being a disorder that an individual carries, it is a mark of shame in which something unusual or bad about the person is exposed. When people express an impression to the manner they want to present their self, they play a virtual identity to avoid exposing their actual identity because it might be stigmatized. Goffman (1963) also mentions when people are stigmatized they worry about how others see them, which is the similar to how we feel when performing a certain role to keep what we consider normal people from finding out the truth about our shame a characteristic of what we think is abnormal/weird to other people. Glacalone Rosenfeld (1989) compare social situations to interviews, an approach where an individual selects the perception and behavior to reflect their good qualities to the person they are performing for. Despite trying to give a reasonable impersonation of one self, people run the risk of being discreditable, which is a stigma that is not readily perceivable to others. Allan (2014) also discusses that some people are already discredited, when normal people are readily aware about a person s stigma as they try to pretend that they do not notice, or the person who is already stigmatized plays it off to show or perceive their shame... The serial killer is in danger of exposing his actual identity because of the situation he had placed himself in, which is forgetting where he had placed the body after getting himself into an accident and sustaining a concussion. The mark of shame the character possesses is that of a murderer, however, in this particular condition, the people watching the show already know his what his stigma is so in some way he has been ... • 3. Theme Of Love In A Midsummer Night s Dream An Analysis of Love in A Midsummer Night s Dream Love within the modern society has taken on a flippant meaning, depending on the phraseology used around the context of the word. Love is used interchangeably with the idea that I love apple pie to I love this new car to the point in which the term love is devalued within our society. How can one say they love their spouse or children and not devalue the true meaning of this intent, when they claim to love apple pie as well? Within the play A Midsummer Night s Dream, a careful evaluation of the various love within the play will reveal the difference in the types of love one might feel to describe various situations and relationships. In Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, love ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Titania wakes from a sleep to fall in love with Bottom, who has the head of an ass, while Lysander awakes to find himself in love with Helena, who he has shown no interest prior to the application of the love juice (Bevington, 2014, p. 55). This love juice application is the ultimate form of forced love, in which there is manipulation of the mind to induce the love, rather than a change in the heart to create a true love. A true love creates a romantic love in which two people feel the love between them, and this leads into the second form of love depicted by Shakespeare, the love described as Eros love, is the love between Lysander and Hermia. Eros love is a love that cannot be obtained between siblings or friends, but only attainable within a form of erotic and sexual love, as found between two lovers, such as husband and wife (Moseley, n.d.). The love between the two of these characters is a real love that does not require a love potion to create the love. Hermia displays this love well with her statement I would rather my father looked but with my eyes , where she indicates the love she has for Lysander, can only be seen through the lens of her eyes (Bevington, 2014, p. 47). This love comes from the truest sense of the word where they each have a desire for the other, from a love that requires no outside influence or assistance, but is created in the heart of each of the lovers. • 4. Wood Thrush The data from the harvested stand and unharvested stand shows that wood thrush would likely be able to find a suitable breeding, nesting, and foraging habitat in this section of the Vermont National Forest (Table 1), particularly in the unharvested stand, though improved management practices could make the harvested stand more suitable. Wood thrushcommonly hide their nests under leaves in a shady area in the midstory level, so it is important to have vertically and horizontally diverse stands (Hagenbauch et al. 2011 a). The unharvested stand provides higher quality nesting and breeding areas due to the higher density of stems in the midstory and canopy and greater canopy closer (Table 1). Maintaining growth and density in the understory will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Results are expected to vary due to site characteristics and management histories (Hoover et al. 2012), and in this case, invasive species and harvesting in the past century could have contributed to our estimate being lower than the regional estimate of 116 Mg C/ha. Invasive species can affect forest health, regeneration, and forest structure, so invasive species could have crowded out live trees, decreasing the above ground live tree carbon pool. The unharvested stand has not been cut in the past three decades so this factor should not affect the above ground carbon pool significantly, though it has likely been harvested more than the old growth forest stands sampled in Hoover et al. (2012) because there was no evidence of harvesting in those stands. Species composition of the unharvested stand could have contributed to our estimate for the above ground live tree carbon pool being slightly higher than the estimate from Smith et al. (2004). Our unharvested stand was mainly made up of sugar maple and beech trees (Figure 2.), and these two species contain more carbon than birch (Jenkins et al. 2003). For the harvested stand with 61.18 Mg C/ha, our estimate of the above ground live tree carbon pool was respectively ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Benefits Of Telecommuting From A Human Resource Essay Telecommuting is an increasingly popular organizational dynamic that presents unique challenges for workers, managers, and human resources departments regarding how employees relate to their organizations, as well as what telecommuters need from their managers to be satisfied, committed employees. Much is known about how employees in private companies relate to their organizations in a standard work setting. However, little is understood about how teleworkers in government organizations relate to their organizations, and how managerial leadership behaviors influence the organizationally related outcomes of telecommuters (Dahlstrom, 2013, p. 438). The aforementioned citation establishes a brief perspicacious perception into the fundamental intention of this module one case assignment. Needless to say, this case assignment will embellish upon both the advantages and disadvantages of telecommutingfrom a human resource (HR) professional angle. In addition to, deliberating upon the added usefulness of telecommuting when recruiting new talent. Likewise, this paper will determine the influence that the telecommuting will have on the overall image of an organization. Lastly, this paper will present some examples of training concerning efficient telecommuting. With that being said, let s launch this case assignment by exploring the pros and cons of telecommuting. • 8. Dystrophin Analysis Dystrophin is encoded by the largest known human gene Dmd, which spans about 2.4 Mb of Xp21 and is composed of 79 exons (Den Dunnen et al., 1989; Koenig et al., 1987). Alternative promoters and splicing produce tissue specific isoforms of dystrophin, including the full length Dp427 in skeletal and cardiac muscles, Dp260 in retina, Dp140 in brainand kidney, Dp116 in peripheral nerves, and ubiquitous Dp71 (Muntoni et al., 2003). Although predominant in skeletal and cardiac muscles, Dp427 also expresses in testes (t Hoen et al., 2008). Dystrophin is a rod shaped cytoskeletal protein linking extracellular laminin and intracellular F actin in muscles to mediate force transmission as well as signaling transduction (Brenman et al., 1995; Ervasti and Campbell, 1993; Koenig et al., 1988). Apart from the mechanical role, dystrophin also regulates asymmetric division of satellite cells by regulating the polarity of a microtubule kinase MARK2 (Dumont et al., 2015).... Utrophin expresses ubiquitously in many fetal and adult tissues, including liver, spleen, skeletal muscle and testis (Love et al., 1991). Utrophin localizes in the neuromuscular junction of adult skeletal muscles, whereas it relocalizes to the sarcolemma in regenerating muscle fibers (Amenta et al., 2011; Ohlendieck et al., 1991). Sarcolemmal recruitment and upregulation of utrophin in the skeletal muscle of the mdx, the most common animal model of DMD with a nonsense mutation in exon 23, imply the compensatory role of utrophin for the loss of dystrophin (Amenta et al., 2011; Banks et al., 2014; Bulfield et al., ... • 9. Kant’s Practical Imperative in the Film The Insider Essay This principle is referred to as Kant s practical imperative and is an important principle for an ethical system which says that each human being is an end in himself or herself. No human being should be thought of or used merely as a means for someone else end. Dr. Jeffrey Wigand the main protagonist of The Insiderportrays himself to be a conflicted individual as he makes decisions throughout the movie. Against an undetermined future, he ruminates about what he knows is right for example, receiving threats, the phone ringing at odd hours. Lowell knows the extent of the pleasure, but not the pain. The benefits of his encouragement would uphold the honor of 60 minutes and CBS news, protecting the public against harm. The disadvantages and the cost would result in Wigand and his family losing all benefits from the agreement. The possible lawsuit faced against CBS and damages to the tobacco industry and its employees. If he does not encourage Wigand, its just result in vice versa, he would receive the benefits and the tobacco industry and employees are protected. It would costs harm to public if they do not know the truth. In conclusion it can be seen that both Wigand and Bergman used each other as means to one anothers end. Not actually being in his position it would be difficult to decide to what my actual emotions would be, based on the fact that I would be putting my family in danger to protect the public. I would have probably done the same as it would be my moral obligation and the right thing to do. Kant s duty based ethics says that some acts are wrong or right because of the things or situations that are related and people have a duty to act in accordance, regardless of the good or bad consequences that may be produced. • 10. Government Control Over Surveillance In today s society we are being watched way too much. Some of the times we are being watched, we know about it and other times, we don t. The government, with a few clicks of a button, can watch what websites you go to, your text messages, even the pictures you send to your grandmother last Christmas, without your knowledge of them doing so. They hold too much power over surveillance of U.S. citizens. There are plenty of incidents where the NSA (National Security Agency) was caught taking files of citizens messages, incoming and outgoing phone calls. Governmental surveillance is going too far, and now it seems like they are watching you at every corner. It is overwhelming. El lenguaje crea y reproduce diferentes formas subjetivas de representaciГіn social. • 12. Persuasive Literary Devices In Could We Be Amusing... Could We Be Amusing Ourselves to Death? The evolution of technology has become indescribable. Technology is prevalent in our society, as well as its portrayal in the media, a seemingly essential aspect of our everyday lives. Although many idolize how technology has improved our lives, many fail to recognize technology s faults. By using three persuasive literary devices (pathos, logos, and ethos), Neil Postman expresses his concern for technological advancement and possible failure in the book Amusing Ourselves to Death. Logos appeals to logic; when using a persuasive device such as logos, you are using logical reasoning to appeal to the reader. When using logos, you must include facts, statistics, and citing credible sources. By using ethos, the author conveys his ideas while being well aware of what he is talking about by utilizing credible sources. Pathos, however, conveys the author s ideas by appealing to the reader s emotions. Postman does an outstanding job of orchestrating a piece using the most popular persuasive elements. Postman was able to incorporate all three of these devices into his book, but the most prominent one in my opinion, and that helps to best convey Postman s point, is logos; statistics and facts are two things you very rarely can fight against. Over and over Postman uses facts on how the media is basically dumbing us down. For example, Postman pointed out that with the rise of the televised age there was then a decrease in literacy. ... • 13. Large Lake Essay Michigan s literally translation from the Ojibwa nation is Large Lake but the natives know it by the Great Lakes State. These names come from the history and prominence of the water features throughout the state. The beginning of shaping the current landscape of the state was with the glaciers. Glaciers are large bodies of ice that travel across land leaving behind deposits and reshaping the land as it moves. The most common features are moraines, drumlins, eskers, till plains, valley trains, kames, and kettles. Moraines are are long lines of ridges and festoons of hills composed essentially of boulder clay or till which was dumped from the ice front during relatively long intervals when the backward melting was equal to the forward ... The Midwest was dominated by four massive glaciers with Michigan s average glacial drift ranging from 200 to 300 feet and a thickness of 1,000 feet in some locations (2017, DNR). Michigan s glacial deposits are estimated to three hundred over the entire state (2009, Berquist). The melting allowed the liquefied water to carry the various rocks and soils in landscape deposits. As the melting increased, the weight of the glacier on the Michigan basin was decreasing. With less pressure on the basin, it began to rebound into its original shape while maintaining the integrity of the glacial deposit landforms. About fourteen thousand years ago, the Wisconsin Glacier covered the entirety of Michigan with its northernmost head at the Hudson Bay and stretching to the banks of the Ohio River as shown in Figure 1 (2017, DNR). These glacial movements were guided by the pre glacial rivers that were further carved by the massive ice sheets to carve valleys. Although drainage was occurring in the Great Lakes region during the pre glacial area, it is nearly impossible to reproduce its exact original features (2009, Berquist). Many lobes of the glaciers sculpted the current boundaries of the Great Lakes. One of these was the Huron, Erie Lobe which shaped the basins of lakes Huron and Erie (2009, Berquist). Bowen adopts a common folklore theme of the demon lover in her short story in which a woman is left traumatized during the blitz in World War II. The story follows a married middle age woman who is haunted by the ghost of her love from her youth. This ghost was known to be killed in the First World War nearly twenty five years earlier. Bowens focuses on the atmosphere to create a disturbing ambiguity leading to many interpretations to what seems like a simple ghost story; the reader wonders if the ghost is a supernatural body or a disquieting delusion that Mrs. Drover observes. The letter lying on the table compels her to imagine the various possibilities for how the letter got there in the first place. Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) vs. Epic Gilgamesh, Tablet XI The Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) and the Epic of Gilgamesh, Tablet XI have certain parallels that are undeniable, yet many noticeable differences. The parallels are strange yet oddly common in any flood narrative and the differences often lie behind the reasons, responses, and decisions made by the main characters. In both texts, each of the main characters, Noah and Uta napishti, were ordered to build an ark or a boat due to an incoming flood. However, both Noah and Uta napishti had to wait and make sure that the floods had truly stopped. Genesis reads, The waters continued to abate until the tenth month...on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains reappeared (Genesis 8:5). However, it is reasonable to state that due to the vulnerability of teenagers and their difficult transformations, both mentally and physically, social media could have various influences on teenagers, that including low self esteem. Erving Goffman s dramaturgical theory can help explain how one s identity development is framed while on these social sites as well as while offline. Using collected data, qualitative methods have shown that such things like surveys that are randomly sampled can help approach this link between social media and an individual s sense of self . Although there were no significant relations identified, results indicate that social media platforms can possibly have a negative effect on individuals sense of self. • 22. Intoredance And Intolerance In The Crucible By Arthur Miller The definition of the word martyr as defined by Merriam Webster is a person who voluntarily suffers death as the penalty of witnessing to and refusing to renounce a religion. When many people think of a martyr their first instinct in their mind is not to think of witchcraft and the town of Salem. The play written by Arthur Miller titled The Crucible is based on real events that correlate with this definition. The Crucible depicts the 1692 SalemWitch Trials that transformed the town of Salem into hysteria. The start of the trials began way before Abigail Williams accused one of the townspeople of witchcraft, but when many girls were caught dancing and singing in the woods. The trials continued for less than a year but over 200 people were accused. With the breakout of hysteria and intolerance the town everyone seemed to turn on eachother. Giles Corey embodied the theme of the play The Crucible by being intolerant and going against the others, eventually costing him his life. To begin, the theme of The Crucible is intolerance. To understand this theme you have to know what Intolerance is. Unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behaviors that differ from one s own is intolerance. The reason supporting why Giles Corey embodies intolerance is because in the play, Giles was a dynamic character. This means that he went through a change throughout the play both physically and emotionally. The change that we see Giles go through is when he becomes intolerant and goes away from what majority of the others within Salem are believing, witchcraft. The argument of the proof that Giles showed his neighbor,Ann Putnam, about the accusation of witchcraft was another example of how he portrayed the theme throughout the play. Another lasting impact that Giles has on the theme of the play is that was intolerant to a large group of Salem townspeople whose main motive for witch accusations was for the dispute over land and wealth within the community. The accusation of Giles and his wife Martha is directly because of that dispute. Not only did the intolerance of the many people within the town caused Giles to change, but unfortunately cost him his wife s and his own life. A secondary thought to tie in with Giles and ... Meridian s quest for wholeness and her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement is initiated by her feelings of failure in living up to the standards of black motherhood. Meridian gives up her son because she believes she will destroy his growth with guilt and she has her tubes tied after a painful abortion (pg. 133). Walker investigated the idea of an African American structure of motherhood, as she develops the protagonist, Meridian, who at first believes she cannot properly fulfill the responsibility. The author entered the conflict about the value of motherhood in which American feminists were then, as they are now, engaged. Motherhood is also seen as a moral transformation, as a woman comes to terms with being different in that she ceases to be an independent individual because she is one way or the other attached to another her baby (FPS). Barbara Christian writes that Walker combines the forces of traditional and feminist perspectives on motherhood, attempting a compromise that would allow the protagonist to survive: As many radical feminists blamed motherhood for the waste in women s lives and saw it as a dead end for a woman, Walker insisted on a deeper analysis: She did not present motherhood itself as restrictive. It is so because of the little value society places on children, especially black children, on mothers, especially black mothers, on life itself. This is the beginning showing his tribute to George and how sad it was for a man to die that he really loved. The next point he makes is trying to say he is innocent and should not have been lock up and had the key thrown away. Bob Dylan said, Sent him off to prison For a seventy dollar robbery Closed the door behind him And they threw away the key (Arnove Zinn, pg. 492). This is showing how he is using the first time he was arrested to make him look innocent when the time he was killed in jail was when he been convicted of killing a guard. Dylan said Prison guards, they cursed him As they watched him from above But they were frightened of his power They were scared of his love. Lord, Lord, So they cut George Jackson down. Lord, Lord, They laid him in the ground. (Arnove Zinn, pg. 493). This the point he is showing that the guards killed him because they were scared of his power that he had and the love that he could give and that they had to get rid of him from taken over them from all of the people reading his book. That after he was killed it started revolution in other prisons because of his book that everyone read and from him being killed. That this is showing how the government was losing control and that they had to get rid of him, so he would not take power away from the government anymore. The flight tracking of the jets showed that they were circling something. But the government reported that it was not a UFO, but an Air France flight. New footage on YouTube taken by fisherman tell a different story. UFO Dives Into Sea A recent YouTube video shows footage from a fishing boat capturing jets and a helicopter circling a UFO. The YouTube channel Christopher Stokes published the footage on May 25. It shows jets and a helicopter attempting to make contact with a UFO before it dives into the sea. The fishermen are of course hysterical as the booming engines of the jets buzz by before the UFO simply disappears into the water. A helicopter than does a flyby, and the footage ends. Could this be real footage? If so, how did they get it off the boat? Have those fishermen been assassinated? A Hoax or Possibly Real? The footage of the jets, helicopter, and UFO is definitely suspicious. It is fuzzy, pixelated, and the UFO isn t to clear. One odd feature of the footage is that the UFO... So, imagine one day you were ripped away from your family and from your home with nowhere to go, in the street, cold, starving, and have absolutely no idea where your next meal is going to come from. Well, for over 7 million animals each year that is the sad reality. I personally own around ten cats that were either from a shelter or on the street starving. I also own two dogs that I have found on the road that had been dumped and left to die. It is an anticoagulant drug that is used primarily for prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or for patients that exhibit pulmonary embolism (PE) that have underwent specific surgery. Enoxaparin functions as a serine type endopeptidase inhibitor and targets antithrombin III. It binds to it and creates a vertex that irreversibly inactivates clotting factor Xa. Enoxaparin binding to antithrombin III also accelerates the activity of antithrombin III which is a serine protease inhibitor that modulates the activation of blood coagulation. Enoxaparin inhibits the production of prothrombin to thrombin. Antithrombin III inhibits thrombin, factors Xa, IXa, and XIa, as well as matripatase 3/TMPRSS7. With the presence of enoxaparin its inhibitory activity is increased greatly. With the Xa being catalyzed by the attachment of enoxaparin, the translation of prothrombin to thrombin is decreased. ... Consider the scenario in which the access point (AP) serves a subset of UEs when available resources cannot support all of the UEs quality of service (QoS) requirements. In this project, propose a scheduling metric to balance the tradeoff between EE and fairness. Based on the scheduling metric, propose a suboptimal joint scheduling and resource allocationalgorithm and a power allocation algorithm that maximizes the system EE. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve a good tradeoff between the system EE and fairness. I.INTRODUCTION The booming demand for wireless applications and the relatively low battery capacity in UE puts a premium on achieving high EE. With the growing popularity of green communications, EE is becoming increasingly important. Previous work on energy efficient resource allocation in OFDMA systems has mainly focused on downlink scenarios. Due to constraints on individual UEs and the discrete nature of sub channel assignment uplink energy efficient resource allocation is less tractable. In an uplink allocation algorithm is described to maximize the minimum EE among all users. In order to maximize the total EE of all UEs under individual power and rate constraints for the UEs an efficient suboptimal algorithms are proposed. The proposed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Toni Morrison And Virginia Woolf s The Bluest Eye Essentialists claim that women writers tend to avoid difficult societal issues, such as gender, race, and political concepts. They critiqued that women prefer to be safe when it comes to the style of their works, but that could not be farther than the truth. These women, have in fact, made a tremendous impact on society and sculpted the way we see things in the world today. Toni Morrison, author of The Bluest Eye, challenged the Essentialists claim by making a novel about racism, and how it affected African American culture in the 20th century. Morrison shows how these stereotypes tormented the brains of many, sometimes to the point of losing their minds. The black community was taunted by the white people, and Morrison made the focus of the novel a young group of little girls who are just realizing the horrors of the world. Not only does the novel discuss racism and it s effect on the black community, but it discusses the unrealistic expectations of beauty in our society. Even the title of the novel The Bluest Eye displays a stereotypical viewpoint of beauty. For example in the story Pecola Breedlove yearns to have blue eyes. She hopes that one day she will be able to transform, and therefore be loved by others because of her new blue eyes. Eventually, Pecola goes crazy, thinking that she has the bluest eyes. Sante s Resume Luc SantГ© s Resume is a personal account of cultural and socio economical changes throughout Europe during the mid 20th century, and how they potentially correlated to impact his life. Resume consists of nine different life summaries, each with introductory constants (Luc SantГ© birth details, Lucien SantГ© s work history), before an opposing tale is expressed to conclude each paragraph. These vary in positive and negative connotations, but the concluding argument SantГ© s work puts forth aligns with the clichГ© that every action has a reaction . In essence, one slight tweak in his life, or resume, starts a chain effect that differs each life from one another. SantГ© constructs his own identityforemost, but also the identities of his parents... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This repetitive identity can also be linked throughout the paragraphs, as opposing as they are, to the text s primary themes. The importance of money is a constant in Resume, as paragraphs beginning with SantГ© s father losing his job ends with his son struggling to survive, living in poverty and fear, or performing criminal acts. In the two paragraphs in which Lucien SantГ© did not fall out of an iron foundry job, Luc was educated and lived either a life of debauchery, or a life as a Jesuit. The two vehemently opposed each other, but they both allowed Luc to live by privileged means. This idea dictates that SantГ© believes the absence of parental income and support almost consigns the child into a poor life near unchangeable, insinuating that SantГ© s identity is one driven by pessimism. SantГ© also constructs identities for his parents, the two individuals featured apart from himself. He does this not by describing their characteristics and idiosyncrasies, but by stating the major events they were involved in that eventually shaped his life. Often throughout Resume, SantГ© describes how his parents shipped the family to a distant country, or at the very least away from Verviers, inevitably failing in their quest to start a new, better life. It is also worth noting the one time SantГ© s tale concludes as one of happiness and success, there is little parental involvement in his choices ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. The Ethics Of The Bhopal Disaster In the Business Ethics Foundation Terms class (September 2nd 2014), we discussed the ethical implications of the Bhopal disaster on December 2nd and 3rd, 1983. A plant that belonged to Union Carbide subsidiary had a chemical explosion, killing 10,000 lives (conservatively) and affecting the livelihood of local and their descendants. Although many reasons have been offered up to try to explain this disaster such as the poor establishment of the manufacturing plant, less stringent labor laws, non exist environment laws, as well as the negligence in educating the public and medical facilities in Bhopalabout the fatality of the pesticide. It is my opinion that the government should also have placed strict boundary rules to limit populations moving into the possible disaster zone. The government of Indias negligence lies in one or both of the following: not assessing the risk of building a manufacturing plant close to a populated city, ignoring the assessed risk inherent in the chemicals being manufactured, and jeopardizing the environment and population of Bhopal. This is not to say that the Union Carbide and its subsidiary were blameless, however the Government of India s lack of responsibility for its citizens can be proved when they underrepresented the victims in the UCC s settlement actions in 1989. Due to these reasons, I will argue in the following paragraphs that the Government of India has more responsibility than Union Carbide in not only the tragedy but also for ... • 52. What Causes War Is war an invention or is it a biological need? We engaged in this intriguing argument with several view. Some scholars tried to proof that warfare is a biological necessity but others assert that war is something that is created. A number of studies define warfare as an act of violence, a struggle, or a test of ability between groups, for a particular end. However, the general conception remains that waris inevitable and is universal. Generalization about this particular phenomenon may be problematic. Our way of life, and activities we engage in daily are affected by our culture. As culture varies over time and space, it would be challenging to prove war is universal. So is warfare inevitable, or even universal? Mead (1940:20) contends that war is an invention. With this conception, this paper attempts to argue that warfare materializes as a means to manage in some circumstance but not all. Firstly, to refute those who would argue that war is necessary and universal Mead (1940:21) suggested that, societies will go to war if they have war as an invention. This ties to the topic that war is created in particular social cultural context. For this example, Mead references two groups, the Eskimos and the Lepchas of Sikkim described by Geoffrey Gorer. Both groups neither concede war. The Lepchas was meek, and few may argue that aggression wasn t their character. But the Eskimos, as Mead points out, were the opposite they were more aggressive people. Yet, they didn t choose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. China Occupation During the occupation of China by Japan, a time of slaughter for civilians and soldiers alike, the international committee built a safety zone to protect innocent civilians from the chaos. The zone help saved over 200,000 Chinese civilians from the ruthless slaughters during the Nanking Massacre of 1937, and later stayed to help rebuild Nanjingafter the Devastation attack. Each country has different views of what they believe was the start of WWII. But Asians trace the war s beginnings all the way back to Japan s first attempt to dominate East Asia the occupation of Manchuria in 1931 (Schreiber 1) John Rabedescribed on the first page of his diary how the Japanese declare this occupation as a sovereign state, however, in reality, it... On August 28, 1937, John left his family and arrived at Nanjing on September 7 of 1937. During this time, many rich Chinese, as well as Germans and Americans has fled Nanking, many up to Hankow by the Yangtze River. John Rabe, a Nazis leader of the party in Nanking, was one of the fews who decided to stay to help thousands of civilians who were too poor to leave or has no place to return to. Many of their houses were already destroyed and burned by the Japanese so the many civilians has no place to stay. John Rabe has made bomb dugouts, one in his garden, for the Chinese to use. To prevent an bombing over his neighbor, he has set up tent with the Swastika flag and flags to cover the dugouts. John Rabe wrote in his diary on November 15, about month before the massacre, A visit to the Communications Ministry convinced me that the (chinese) government is about to retreat from Nanking (Rabe 21).
