The Birth Of Virtual Teams
Abstract Teams have always contributed significantly towards the successful operation of any
organization. Traditionally, team members had to endure the challenges of time, distance, and even
cultural differences in order to successfully complete a team activity. However, recent
advancements in technology have led to the birth of virtual teams. The paper aims to explore the
effectiveness and differences ofvirtual teamsas compared to face to face teams. The evaluation will
be on the basis of dimensions such as performance, cohesion, conflict, trust and satisfaction among
others.
Introduction
Due to the recent increased utilization of information communication technology in organizations,
there has been a rising trend of the adoption of virtual teams. These teams have helped organizations
conduct their businesses in a very effective way. In furtherance of that, these teams have also helped
in enhancing the speed at which communication is carried out. For instance, team members in
different countries or continents can actually contribute ideas for a project in real time via
electronic means (Hendrickson, 1998). However, these groups have faced some criticisms which
have made them to be underutilized. Some of the issues raised against these teams include lack of
involvement and inclusiveness, lack of trust, lack of employees with technical and interpersonal
skills and lack of cohesion among others. Past research has revealed that virtual teams have proved
to be effective,

The Role Of Religion In Colonial America
It surprise me a lot the contribution that religion had in each important process of the creation of
this country, and the part that the Pilgrims and Puritans played in this process, a group of
immigrants that arrived to New England; interesting enough very similar to the situation that is a
topic today in news regarding the situation with the immigrants living and struggling in this country.
Jamestown, was the 1st permanent British Colony in America, was commanded by Captain John
Smith. This week I learn about the advantages that help the Colonist to upsurge above the Indians,
interesting enough technology, weather, earth are among this, is fascinating to see how even then
technology play a huge role in this period. The colonials had superior

Anatomy of an Orchid Flower
Anatomy of an Orchid Flower
Despite the astonishing diversity found in the thousands of wild species and man made hybrids,
orchid flowers show an unmistakable family resemblance. Orchid flowers are generally bilaterally
symmetrical only a single imaginary line can be drawn through a flower to create a mirror image.
A typical orchid flower has three sepals (the outer segments that protect the bud before the flower
opens), alternating with three petals. The petals and sepals may be similar or not, showy or
inconspicuous.
The middle petal, which is always opposite the column, is usually quite different from the others.
Called the lip or labellum, it comes in a variety of shapes, depending on the species, and can be
wavy or fringed or covered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So in appealing to sex, these orchids limit their potential pollinators, which would seem to be a
reproductive disadvantage.
Despite the apparent drawback, sexual deception has evolved several times in different types of
orchids. So there must be some selective advantage, and researchers Salvatore Cozzolino and
Giovanni Scopece of the University of Naples Federico II, Steven Johnson of University of
KwaZulu Natal (South Africa) and Florian Schiestl of the University of ZГјrich appear to have
figured out what it is.
Schiestl and his team observed populations of 31 orchid species with varying pollination strategies
in Italy and Western Australia. They measured the amount of pollenthat was taken from each
orchid, and the amount of pollen that made it to its intended destination another orchid of the same
species.
They found that populations of sexually deceptive orchids had higher pollen transport efficiency
than the species with multiple pollinators. In other words, a higher percentage of the pollen that
was taken from sexually deceptive orchids actually made it to another orchid of the same species.
The orchids with multiple pollinators had more pollen taken from their flowers, but more of that
pollen was lost dropped to the ground or deposited in flowers of the wrong species.
So it appears that specializing with

king. The novel is notable for its subject: the relationship between a middle aged literature
professor and a young girl called Lolita. The story is filled with sexual overtones and motifs.
Lolita quickly attained a classic status. It has also been adapted several times into films and for the
stage. When in 1962 the cinematic genius Stanley Kubrick moved Lolitato the silver screen, a
question arose How did they ever make a movie of Lolita ? That question would remain, having
even made its way to Lolita s movie posters.
The screenplay for the film was created, with a help of Nabokov himself. The cast was very well
thought of, Sue Lyon in the title role was very convincing, it was her first appearance on the
silver screen for which she won a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer. James
Mason starred in the role of Humbert Humbert was BAFTA and Golden Globe nominated for his
appearance. Despite the screenplay, and a promising cast, Stanley Kubrick s movie isn t one of his
best, what could go wrong? The answer to this question is simple: censorship. ... Show more content

Kubrick quickly realized that making a movie, where the main character is a middle aged man
who is romantically interested in a teenage girl, in America in the early 60s would be extremely
difficult. In the book Lolita is 12 years old, Kubrick changed it for 14, but still producers were
highly disapproval and prevented the distribution of the movie. Director was forced to raise the
age of the film Lolita to 18 years. There are many differences between Kubrick s film adaptation
and Nabokov s novel, some events were entirely wiped for example the sexual relationship
between Lolita and Humbert was never graphically showed on the screen. Most of the innuendos

Recreation Supervisors
When it comes to parenting, it seems that all is lost due to the immense amount of stress created
from children. Luckily jobs are in place so to help the average citizen with their everyday child
needs. Some are big and some are small, but all are important such as the few like Family
Advocates and RecreationSupervisors. Family Advocates are one of those jobs that allow parents
and children to communicate to social services through a medium. Another job that would also be
beneficial to parents within the U.S.A. is a Recreation Supervisor which plans and makes certain
that the city has planned events and activities for the community to do and participate in. These
careers can tell a lot about what types of jobs are helpful for people to become successful... Show

Recreation Supervisors make on average 40,000 (Recreation Salary) a year which is not a large
sum of money. Looking at the community impact aspect of the job, however, is a reward that in
itself is priceless. The ability to create friendships and opportunities for others to make those
connections is one of the most selfless things anyone can do. From my research, I have found that
there are many ways to choose a way to further helping others and contributing to society in a
positive way. From the ability to further in government, or the joy of making someone s day and
giving them a way to forget about the worries of life gives the meaning of what it means to give
back to the community. I personally would not choose either of these fields not out of hate, but

Genetic Research And Its Effects On The Human Bodies
Abstract This study helps us to understand what we need to know about companies owning
specific portions of DNA sequences that exist in our own human bodies. The basis of genetic
research and the idea of owning a gene were brought to light over 150 years ago when the
Supreme Court ruled that you could not own human nature, but over time the advancement of
scientific research and technology made genetic research and its findings more accessible.
Genetic researchers were able to find genes that can help cure disease and could identify
cancerous genes in humans. With companies being able to find these genes, they wanted to have
chance to make money off of them; from tests for being applicable to cancer, disease, or any
other medical problem. This became an issue because of how there are only few companies that
you can go through for the test of that specific gene; they are a monopoly. Since the late 1990 s,
people have begun to protest the right to own a gene in a human body and are wanting the
companies to forfeit their rights of the ownership. This creates tensions because of the abundant
amount of money associated with the gene. This makes the company come off as a negative aspect
toward the next step in scientific discoveries. This study concludes that it is in the best interest of
humans to make companies that own genes go to the Supreme Court in order to fight to protect
ourselves against genetic monopolies, and to further develop scientific and technological

Unique In My Life
I like to observe people. I often make mistakes while doing it and then get myself into very
uncomfortable situations that could be prevented. I am clumsy. People often ask me how can I be
a pre professional ballet dancer and still be so clumsy. I am the product of my changing
environment. Shaped by the masses, shaped by languages, shaped by the stars. Once someone said
to me: Chaos before the star. There needs to be chaos for something beautiful to happen.
Molecular clouds of interstellar gases and dust binding at freezing temperatures, and then a star
emerges from the chaos. If I could get one dollar for every time I have embarrassed myself, I
would probably be living another life accompanied by those very expensive dogs. But, if I could
get one dollar for everytime that those embarrassments have turned into beautiful disasters, I would
only be able to buy a handful of things at a dollar store. Those events are quite unique. Unique as
in for that one day that my mother hit her head on the windshield while sneezing, which by the way
was hilarious. Unique as the inspiring songs about turtles, unique as every broken heart, uniques as
you, and also as unique as the day that my life changed.
The engines of the plane could just be described as huge. I remember having the sensation of going
to another planet. I should have known that in many ways, I actually was. Everything kept getting
back to me, my past, my inference of the future and all the goodbyes. Every single one of

Taylor Swift Figurative Language
Almost everything in life can be viewed by different perspectives and almost everything is
interpreted
in a multitude of ways. This also applies to love and relationships. Love is so expansive and
intricate that it takes a whole life time to try to explain and feel it. When trying to explain love
some expressed love to be beautiful, miraculous and joyous. However, others portrayed the dark
side of love; the hurt, the harsh reality, and broken hearts. Taylor Swift represented that same
unhappiness that is associated with love in her music. In her song Forever and Always Taylor
Swift exemplified her pain through the lyrics. In the sixth stanza of her song Taylor sang, Oh, I

slight bitter sweet tone through the song and it is exemplified through the lyrics. It is almost as if
he resents himself for still being in love with this girl even after the pain of rejection she has put
him through. Turner s feelings never change towards this girl. He is still in love with her no
matter what.
The Arctic Monkeys song, Do I Wanna Know? uses figurative language terms such as
metaphors, repetition, and personification to express the natural responses to fear of rejection and
the desperation held onto when one wants still to hold onto a love that may or may not be there.
Turner knew one thing for sure; that he was madly in love with this one girl and that he was
willing to go after her by whatever means necessary. Yet again Turner still had some hesitation.
This proved that point that there is always an uncertainty in love because no one is guaranteed
that the person they love feels the same way. It is a natural instinct to want to feel accepted and it
is heartbreaking to find out that the person he loved, did not even accept him. Alex turned to

How Entrepreneurs Differ from Other Business Owners Essay
There has been a large amount of attention paid to the subject of entrepreneurship in the last few
years; mainly because most people have chosen to go from working for somebody else to be their
own bosses and work for their dreams. Yet, many still wonder what is entrepreneurship and what is
that sets entrepreneurs apart from other regular businessowners?
Free lance writer and expert in economic issues Jeanne Holden suggest:
There is no one definitive profile of an entrepreneur. Successful entrepreneurs come in various ages,
income levels, gender, and race. They differ in education and experience. But research indicates that
most successful entrepreneurs share certain personal attributes, including: creativity, dedication, ...

Then, in the middle of starting up a new business entrepreneurs need determination in order to
never give up, even when things seem harder than what they expected; this determination makes
their focus always be on achieving their goals and success. This must work in conjunction with
flexibility, because every entrepreneur must know how to adapt to the changing world and trends in
the business environment, entrepreneurs competing with already established companies must be
open for change and improvement.
After a entrepreneur has managed to establish himself as a business owner, he uses other skills
to walk toward success, these are leadership and passion. Leadership is the capacity of directing
and influencing others; an entrepreneur must also be a leader in order to run a successful business
where employees feel moved and inspired to give the best of them each day. And leadership could
not exist without passion, because that is what makes an entrepreneur feel confident about a new
idea and keeps him focus on his main goal, while also inspiring the people around him.
Self confidence is what makes an entrepreneur make the right and the smartest decision at the right
time, they have to

The Death of Print

The Death of Print and the Drowning of Quality Writing Daniel Okrent has been in the
publishing industry his whole career. He is a published author and has served as an editor for
Time, Life, and the New York Times. In a 1999 lecture to students attending Columbia University
s School of Journalism, Okrent predicts, I believe they (news papers, magazines, and books), and
all forms of print are dead (Okrent 578). A little harsh, wouldn t you agree? But fear not, he then
goes on to describe how even though the death of print is inevitable, it really doesn t make a
difference because it is the words, sentences, and paragraphs in those forms of print that are
important. Now, the majority of the reading I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in 1999. That doesn t seem too far off from what s available today. Actually, it sounds a little
better. Okrent later makes a good comparison in the format in which cell phones are sold today
and how tablets may be similarly sold in the future. He argues it s less about the vessel and more

A Comparison of The Perfect Storm Movie and Novel Essay
A Comparison of The Perfect Storm Movie and Novel
The Perfect Storm is a novel written by Sebastian Junger, that retells the horrific story of
fishermen and sailors who were caught in the eye of the worst storm in history. The book mainly
focuses on the Andrea Gail, a swordfishing boat, with a crew of 6 men, who disappeared without a
trace deep into the northern atlantic sea. In the year 2000, almost 10 years after the tragic event
took place, a motion picture, perfectly titled, The Perfect Storm which was based on the novel was
released. There were subtle to few changes in the plot line of the story, however there were many
differences among the book and movie. The movie is very intact with the plot and ... Show more

The movie didn`t portray an important aspect, when the Andrea Gail was replacing and upgrading
its gears in the beginning, but the book did. That played a key role in why the Andrea Gail was
caught in the storm in the first place. The ice machine had broken down leaving the crew with no
choice but to return home, which meant heading into the storm, otherwise the fish they had
worked so hard to catch would spoil, making a whole waste of the trip. There were also details
within the book that offered much enlightment about the sea, the life of a fisherman, how a person
dies, and storms, yet the movie failed to offer that. That`s just one more argument for the debate of
whether its better to read the book or watch the movie.
There were certain plots that took place in the movie, but wasn`t mentioned in the book, if not
then it was only briefly brought about. When the 6 men were out in the bar drinking and partying
the night before they were off to sea once again, the book mentioned only briefly about Murph,
one of the crewmen, ?he has an ex wife Debra, and a three year old baby, also named Dale, whom
he openly adores?. In the movie, it showed Murph and his son, who wasn`t three years old, but
older, in the movie, bonding that last night. However, the book never mentioned this event taking
place. The movie creator

The Importance Of Perfection In We Were Liars
It is true that no one is perfect. One can then assume that people should strive to be perfect either.
Perfection is boring anyways. 6.15 percent of the U.S. has depression, and 18 percent have anxiety.
It is the most common mental illness in America. The reason of this is because we always try to
reach perfection, and people are disappointed when it does not happen. This is shown a multitude
of times in We Were Liars. Trying to be perfect causes so much heartache that could be avoided.
People need to realize that perfection is boring, and being the best them is better. Not one of
these symbols of prosperity and taste has any use at all. (Lockhart 45). This quote from We Were
Liars is very true. Basically what it is saying is this: in the end, all of these pretty things and
expensive brands is not going to mean anything. My Liars, my darlings. I killed them. (Lockhart
209). It is like here in the book. Cadence finds out her best friends are dead, and all the other things
her familyworried about means nothing. The reason that people are attached to materialistic things
because they feel it makes them better and boosts their status. People want to
2 boost their status to reach some sort of perfection. If they would realize that other things matter
more than perfection and materialistic things, then they would not seem so important anymore.
Race is another thing that society tries to pull apart and perfect. He was a stranger in our family
even after all those years. (Lockhart 30). This quote shows that race is, in fact, an issue that
people pick at. Usually it is people who think they are perfect. Anyone who thinks this is just
plain wrong. Any person who believes they are better than someone because of their race is
wrong. The Sinclair family tries so hard to be perfect that it hurts others. Meaning Gat. They
push him away and make him feel alienated because they are worried of what other people might
think. No one should be hurt at someone else s hand, just because they think they are superior to
the other person. People try so hard to be perfect that it hurts them. This is one reason why I think
Cadence is depressed. Cadence is surrounded by people who try so hard to be perfect,

The sports industry will not tolerate athletes using the drugs and in the long run killing himself or

Sensory Perceptual Phenomena Is An Event A Living Organism
Sensory Perceptual Phenomena is an event a living organism experiences that involves biological,
psychological, and cognitive determinants as a response to the environment (Gorbel, Oct. 28th). In
order for the living organism to experience this phenomena, the brain and nervous system must
organize and stabilize the living organism s sensory perceptual system (Gorbel, Nov. 16th) A
primary function of the senseare biological transducers, devices that convert one kind of energy into
another (Coon Mitterer, 124). The basic process that occurs in the sensory perceptual system begins
with a physical energy from the living organism s environment. Then the phylogenetically
engineered external organ is used in order to collect the energy from the environment. Receptor
cells are then stimulated and create electro chemical reactions. Electrical impulses are encoded with
information and travel the neural net. It will then be sent to a specific structure of the brain that
correlates with the external organ. The information is decoded and the living organism becomes
aware; this causes a physical stimulus response, also known as a sensation (Gorbel, Oct, 28th).
However, there are other processes that are involved before the living organism produces a
perception from a physical sensation. Other sensory organs and systems include: the eye and visual
system, ears and auditory system, the nose and olfaction, taste buds or tongue and gustation,
somesthetic sense and warning and reminding

TSUNAMI WHAT ARE THEY?
5. Tsunamis are not wind generated waves. Rather, they are shallow water waves, with long
periods (time between two sucessional waves) and wave lengths (distance between two
sucessional waves). The wind generated swell one sees at a California beach, for example,
spawned by a storm out in the Pacific and rhythmically rolling in might have a period of about
10 seconds and a wave length of 150 m. A tsunami, on the other hand, can have a wavelength in
excess of 100 kilometer and period on the order of one hour. As a result of their long wave
lengths, tsunamis behave as shallow water waves . A wave becomes a shallow water wave when
the ratio between the water depth and its wave length gets very small. Shallow water waves move
at a speed that is equal to the square root of the product of the acceleration of gravity and the water
depth. In the Pacific Ocean, where the typical water depth is about 4,000 meter, a tsunami travels at

He feels upset that Kuhn still holds on to the idea that God is helping him, after all that s
happened. Last time in class we discussed how Judaism revolves around the idea that the Jewish
people have a covenant with God. Levi, having spent months in the lager at this point, appears to
be questioning this holy covenant, and furthermore, the existence of his god. I think Levi is
particularly upset around the nature of the prayer. Kuhn appears to be giving thanks, even
though many had just been selected for death. In such a dark moment, Levi wonders how
anyone can give thanks, or how can one believe that God is truly helping them while abandoning
everyone else? It s a justifiable question: Where was God when the others were sentenced to
death? Levi follows up with If I was God, I would spit at Kuhn s prayer (Levi 130). Levi is
essentially stating that if he was God, he wouldn t let Kuhn believe that he is receiving help
because Levi truthfully believes he isn t. He would make sure that Kuhn understood that he

outraged, some people think this is a necessity in this era, and some just do not understand the

This brings to the forefront: is the NSA a necessity needed in the complex and technological 21
century? With out a doubt the world is very complex in this day and age with the exponential
growth in technology there seems to be new technology that should be monitored as a
conventional medium of communication. In reality that is a very subjective opinion. For
example, as e mails replace conventional mail there should be no reason to collect data for e
mails. Conventional mail has no known data tracking system in place comparable to the NSA.
Since e mails do this would elude to the fact the e mails are inherently more dangerous than
conventional mail. But, aside from the speed of e mails relative to conventional mail, there seems
to be no inherently more dangerous aspect

Symphony No. 9 Summary
The concert I watched online was Symphony No. 9 From the New World composed by the great
Antonin Dvorak. This performance was done by the New York Philharmonic and launched the
New York Philharmonic s 175th anniversary season. This concert was performed by an orchestra
and was definitely a performance I enjoyed to watch and listen to.
In the beginning of the performance, the orchestra begins with an adagio tempo, using instruments
such as cellos and violins. The tempo is very slow and soothing until it suddenly interrupted by
the sound of trumpets. This is setting a tone that something very dramatic is about to happen.
After the trumpets sound, oboes and flutes begin to play using the same adagio tempo as it was
used in the beginning of the performance. As the flutes and clarinets slowly stop, you can see the
conductor, Alan Gilbert, slowly move his arms apart to instruct the orchestra to get prepared.
Gilbert then swings his arms up and the orchestra switches to an allegro tempo by using crescendo.
Violins, cellos, drums, French horns, tenor trombones and bass trombones are now used to create a
suspenseful tone as if something tragic has just happened. It then changes back to the adagio tempo
using instruments with low pitch and then transfers back to the oboes, flutes and violins. The first
ten minutes of the performance is a wide variation between adagio and allegro and molto allegro
and basically switches tempos between the three which is why I really enjoyed

Throughout The Duration And Both Plays, Hamlet And Othello,
Throughout the duration and both plays, Hamlet and Othello, the theme of revenge presides over
the plot heavily. From the sin of Claudius killing Hamlet senior to Othello giving Cassio the title
of lieutenant both ignite fierce opposition with the thought of retribution. Though there is
opposition to those two decisions, nothing follows with any order or morality. Instead of serving
proper justice to Claudius or disagreeing with Othello s decision, the two men are brought to utter
catastrophe. As Hamlet and Iago lead their own charge against the people who have wronged
them, many red flags raise about their mental states. Hamlet and Iago both display proper criteria

yells out still am I called. Unhand me, gentlemen. By heaven, I ll make a ghost of him that lets

The Importance Of Critical Thinking From Affecting School...
The importance for an individual to be able to think critically has become a hot topic within recent
years. Many adults are entering the workforce and are unable to complete aspects of their jobs that
require them to think critically. Many are products of an education system that consisted of
multiple choice assessments that only required them to recall the information, not to evaluate and
synthesize it. Initiatives have been put in place to prevent this lack of critical thinking from
affecting school aged children. More recently these initiatives have moved into higher educationas
well.
Critical thinking is defined in many different ways. Like many other researchers in the field of
critical thinking Halpern (1993) argues that there is little agreement on the definition of critical
thinking. However, she believes that overlap in various definition of the concept does exist. One of
the main themes throughout the multiple definitions is that critical thinking is a higher order
cognitive skill. This means that more information is needed to solve the problem or answer a
question than just basic recall information or lower order thinking. Halpern (1998) describes higher
order skills as being relatively complex in nature. Higher order skills require judgment, analysis, and
synthesis. They are not applied in a rote or mechanical manner. This type of thinking is thinking
that is reflective, sensitive to the context, and self monitored.
Moore (2011) acknowledges that a debate

Naturalism In To Build A Fire
The novel To build a fire written by Jack London is based on the naturalism, which is a type of
literature that is focused on Darwinian s theory, survival of the fittest . It can be interpreted as your

William Carlos Williams Doctor Stories Essay
William Carlos Williams passion and dedication of medicine can be seen through his literary
contributions of short stories and poems. The Doctor Stories use interior monologue in a stream of
consciousness as a tool to reflect each narrator s experience and gives insight into the character and
his appraisal of each of the situations encountered. It is through this stream of consciousness that
we come to realize the observational nature of this doctors actions and thoughts.

(pg. 44) The author shows similarities between the narrator and his more skeptical colleague in
an attempt to highlight the narrator s thoughts. His thoughts show that his caustic colleague is
very critical in describing the immigrant mother as a bugger and the daughter as a pimply faced
bitch . (pg. 55) The story then ends with a sense of hope for the young girl as she returns to
school. From the beginning of The Use of Force, the doctor goes in to great detail about the
patience it takes as he tries to coax the young girl to open her mouth. When he realizes the
futility of his approach, he gives the child an ultimatum of Will you open it now by yourself or
shall we have to open it for you? which is shown as he steels himself for the upcoming battle. (pg.
58) It is obvious that this doctor is committed to helping the uncooperative child, and his thoughts
portray his determination that is untainted by a fear of hurting the girl in order to help her. This is
in contrast to the obvious observance of the child s parents that fear hurting her which impedes the
ability to heal her. It is probably a typical portrayal of parents that are so emotional and soft hearted
that the doctor sees regularly, but contrasts the assertive actions of the doctor which leads the reader
to realize that doing what is best for someone is not synonymous to what

opposing character ?
(Response) What do you think of the main character? Why?
The main character in this essay would be Virginia Woolf and the opposing character would be
the person she is interviewing with. Virginia is almost modest with her feelings towards her past
and how she got to where she is. Not taking credit for the success she has. Virginia is head strong
and defeats all odds and stereotypes that come her way.

describes how Julio and Romiette respond to a potentially dangerous situation with careless

fact that Julio moved away from Texas to escape gangs. You would think that these combined
factors would encourage Romiette and especially Julio to take gangs as a serious threat.... Show

Each perspective is held within a chapter which, when the characters move away from each

preceding books. Death is common is this book and it s was one of the best things about it
because it played well to the realism of the time that is depicted. Main characters are not safe like
in other novels I have read and this made for very exciting reading. Self preservation is often the

America s constitutional order is designed along the same concepts as the covenants used by
colonial settlers when creating religious settlements. While America s government would later

Examples Of Diversity In Tv Shows
Ever since the integration of television and movies there has been a problem with the whitewashing

Social Status Essay
I think that my three most important ascribed social statuses are that I am an American, I am
eighteen years old, and I am a white male. Ascribed social statuses are the social status that a
person is assigned at birth or given later in life. First and foremost, being an American is
something that many people take for granted. We have the chance to obtain a great life that not
everyone has the chance at. It has opened so many doors for me including an education, security,
opportunity, and so many more. Growing up an American has taught me many lessons. I have
learned that while not everything is easy, I could have it much worse off, and I should be
grateful for the opportunities that present themselves. I have also learned not to take anything
for granted. I am very blessed with the life I have, but nothing is guaranteed. You have to enjoy
the good things in life, and embrace the hard ones. One more lesson is that life is full of choices,
and the life that you end up with is more or less a result of those choices. I m not saying that it is
a completely fair playing field, but I do believe that everyone generally has the opportunity at a
successful life. The next important ascribed social statusis my age. Obviously this is ever changing
as time ticks on, but it has a major influence on how I live my life. Because I am eighteen years old
I am still in school, and I will continue to be in some sort of school for quite some time. I do not

Fruits are very delicious and healthy. In this experiment our problem is How does pH levels vary
in different fruits? The independent variable of this experiment is fruits, units: pounds/Ibs. The
dependent variable is the pH levels. The constant variable is the boiling water. The hypothesis for
this experiment is if we test the pH levels of oranges, cherries, and grapes then, the oranges would
have a higher pH because it s a very acidic fruitwhich would make it have a higher pH level. We
will use boiled water then, add the varieties of fruit we chose into the pot, then strain the mixture of

This is where we got our idea to experiment multiple fruits and find out which has a higher pH

because our body needs a balance of acidic and base foods. In the Cabbage Chemistry experiment
the cabbage is the pH indicator meanwhile in our experiment the fruits are the pH indicators.
Sometimes we need to eat more acidic foods because when we play sports for example like
basketball or just running we release a lot of carbon dioxide, which is an acid that lowers the
acidity in our bodies. This can lead to our bodies being imbalanced, so this is why we would
need to eat more acidic foods therefore are bodies can be balanced again. Another similar

so bright because of it are a guide for those who may be waiting in the darkness. Like a lighthouse
does for ships at night or like the stars and moon do for travelers. Without darkness, there would be
no need for guidance or change. There would be no point in having stars, lighthouses, or unique
bright people.
Take the life of Jesus for example, this man was born in a manger surrounded by dirty animals.
He never sinned a day in his life, yet he constantly received hate from those around them. People
hated him so much that they hung him upon a cross, which is one of the most excoriatingly
painful ways to die. He had nails driven into his hands and feet, a crown made of thorns forced
down onto his head, and he had to hang there for hours as he slowly suffocated. This man knew
darkness better than anyone, yet he is still a light or lighthouse for all people. John 1:5 states, The
light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. John 8:12 it says, When Jesus

Favio Chavez Cateura Landfill
Since the industrial revolution, packaging materials and organic waste have become more
ubiquitous that ever. With 220 million tons of waste being produced each year from the US alone,
landfills and other sanitary disposal areas are pushed to maximum capacity. As the organic waste
decays, noxious methane gas bubbles to the surface of the rotting piles and pollutes the atmosphere
and insecure wastecan infiltrate a local lake or aquifer, producing disastrous consequences that the
ecosystem simply cannot function with. In an impecunious region of Paraguay, 25,000 families live
off the scraps of the Cateura landfill. Asides from its deleterious impacts on the environment, the
colossal landfill also contributes toward the poverty and destitution of the local families. Favio
Chavez, a musical teacher, opened a small music school in Paraguay in 2007. At the time, he only
had five instruments to share. After requesting the service of Nicolas Gomez the orchestra gathered
old garbage materials and meticulously assembled a variety of... Show more content on

As the orchestra increases in participants and continues to produce instruments from garbage, it
will provide an income source for Catuera and help modern and globalize its premises. The
orchestra may also draw more attention to the increasing global need to not only properly manage
and dispose of garbage, but also incite political leaders to draw up creative ways for recycling and
repurposing even the most useless articles of garbage. As whole, the Paraguay society has benefited
from the creation of the concert, as it has brought in money and tourists all the while supporting
conservation and recycle. Through the tenacious effort of the orchestra members and Caterua
residents, the implacable chains of poverty can be broken and the ecosystem can be restored to

The Factors Of The Aquaculture In Australia
Introduction
Aquaculture is a major industry world wide but is becoming fast growing in Australia (Moffatt, B.
2008). Aquaculture is defined as the business of farming aquatic animals and plants, under varying
degrees of controlled conditions, both in marine and freshwater environments (Daf, 2017).
Aquaculture has the potential, through harvesting and farming species, to support the growing
demand for seafood (Daf, 2017). Aquaculture produces fish for food, sport, bait and ornamental, as
well as crustaceans, molluscs, algae, sea vegetables and fish eggs (NOAA, 2017). Seafood demand
has significantly increased over the last three decades, the demand exceeds the supply capable by
domestic production and continues to grow everyday (Agriculture, 2017). Aquaculture occurs
throughout Australia from the tropical north to the temperate south, the industry is largely based in
regional Australia and makes a significant and positive contribution to the regional development
(Agriculture, 2017).
The less prawns taken from the wild and the more from aquaculture will increase number of
prawns in the wild. Aquaculture will allow this to happen as it will bring the necessary levels of
prawns in the wild back to normal and increase which will let the other animals that benefit from
the prawns will live better. Prawns are profitable as they are sold to various countries for food as
well as being sold all around Australia creating a great amount of profit.

Realismism And Realism
Years before World War One began, Germany was afraid of their neighbors. At the time right
before World War One, Russia had a population that was far beyond any of its neighboring
countries. However, Russia had yet to fully industrialize. Through a fear of the rise of Russia,
Germany decided a war was more favorable than peace negotiations and allowing Russia to climb
in power. Dale Copeland and other Realismtheorist s show that World War One was caused by
Germany (who was fearing a decline), pushed for a preventative war against Russia and tried to
make it seem as it was Russia s fault. Realism is a theory that involves international politics
focusing mainly on the role of each nation state. The theory focuses on the motivations of each
state by their own national interests and usually disguise these interests as moral concerns (in
order to get the citizens on board). There are five major assumptions that go along with Realism.
First states are the main actors. In the case of World War One, Germany was focused on other
country s rise due to their material capabilities and geographic positions. Second, is that the
international system is anarchic. During World War One, there was no global government making
sure a war did not happen. Every state was negotiating for themselves, and Germany had no desire
for peace. A third assumption of realism is each state is uncertain of another state s intentions.
Germany was afraid of what Russia would want once it became industrialized

Noahic Covenant Research Paper
Throughout the Old Testament God has been actively directing people to him. His method of doing
this was by establishing covenants with him. The definition of covenant is, a formal and serious
agreement or promise (Merriam Webster). There are seven convents described in the Old
Testament: Adamic, Noahic, Abrahamic, Palestinian, Mosaic, Davidic and New Covenant. Some of
these covenants are conditional and based on prerequisites and can be broken if the requirements
are not met. The rest are unconditional covenants, they were made with no strings attached,
meaning the agreement would be kept no matter what. The purpose of this paper is to examine each
of these covenants and their results. The first covenant described in the Old Testament... Show more

The first one mentioned is the covenant of the Ten Commandments: no other gods, no idols, do
not take the name of the Lord in vain, observe the Sabbath, honor your mother and father, do not
murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony and do not covet (Ex
34:27 28). God told Moses that if these rules were broken then Israel would be destroyed. The
next covenant made to Moses explains the rules of the Sabbath: no work on the Sabbath (Ex
31:12 17), whoever violates it must be put to death (Ex 31:15). The first two covenants made to
Moses could be celebrated anywhere because the Jewish people were being relocated to other
places. The third covenant that was made through Moses is considered the Law and the terms
are: made known through fear (Ex 19:16), sealed by blood and an oath (Ex 24:7 8) and requires
obedience (Ex 19:5). This covenant can be broken if disobeyed, but God promised that
restoration is possible. The fourth and last covenant given through Moses has to due with
Levitacal priesthood: eternal ministry of Levites before God (Dt 18:1 5), receive a portion of all
offerings from the alter (Num 18:19), offerings include salt as a testimony to the covenant (Lev
2:13), broken by individuals (Neh 13:28 29) and lastely one could be a Levite and not a priest, but
all priests were Levites and descended from

Sexual Objectification Of Music Videos And How Adolescents...
Sexual Objectification in Music Videos and How Adolescents Are Affected
Lauren Faron, Aynsley Fishel, Nisha Patel, Menelik Solomon
The Ohio State University
Music videos are easily accessible to everyone, especially adolescents. From its earliest origins on
TV to recent upgrades to technology on the internet, such as YouTube, anyone can watch music
videos at any time of the day. Online music video sites draw an average of 150 million people each
month who view more than two billion videos per day (Mischner, Schie, Wigboldus, Baaren,
Engels, 2013). Sexually objectifying music videos have increased in the last couple of decades.
With this, more adolescents are being influenced by viewing these videos and mostly all of them
are affected in some way, either positive or negative. What a lot of people do not know is what is
happening to adolescents after viewing these types of music videos and how it can lead to
concerning effects later in development.
Literature Review
Adolescence is a crucial time in the lives of young boys and girls, especially when it comes to
viewing music videos. A survey showing that 78% of girls 12 19 years old watch MTV regularly,
making them the most frequent viewers at around 6.4 hours a week (Bell, Lawton, Dittmar, 2007).
This is important because it brings into light the idea of girls watching these sexually objectifying
videos and how they experience body dissatisfaction. Body dissatisfaction is a

Similarities Between Faber And Beatty In Fahrenheit 451
Fahrenheit 451 Analysis Essay Fahrenheit 451, a novel written by Ray Bradbury is a very
prominent work of science fiction. It follows the main character, Montag, who is a fireman in a
futuristic society. In this society firemen start fires and burn books. Faber is a retired English
professor that helps Montag understand the books he reads. He sees the negatives of their society
and helps Montag go against the firemen. Beatty is the fire captain, who Montag works under. He
is happy with their society and tries to keep Montag with the firemen. In Ray Bradburys novel,
Fahrenheit 451, Faber and Beatty are more different than they are similar. Faber and Beatty would
disagree on the importance of education. Faber, being a retired professor, thinks... Show more

Throughout the book Faber refers to himself as a coward. He wanted to stop books from getting
banned but he did nothing, because no one else cared. I grumbled a few times and subsided, for
there were no others grunting or yelling with me by then (78). In the past, he did not act without
others, showing that he believes it is easier to stand up for what you believe in when you are
with others. My cowardice is of such a passion, complementing the revolutionary spirit that lives
in its shadow, I was forced to design this. He picked up a small green metal object no larger than
a .22 bullet (86). Faber made the green bullet so he could listen to what was happening without
being there himself. He doesn t have the courage to do it himself and has to rely on others.
Beatty is not a coward himself, but believes in everyone being the same. Each man the image of
every other, then all are happy (56). Beatty believes that everyone should be the same and think
the same things, this would lead to a group mentality. Since, no one thinks individual thoughts,
their inner strength would be very weak. They would just continue to go with the group and the
safety it provides. Later in the book, Montag realizes that Beatty wanted to die. Beatty had
wanted to die. He had just stood there, not really trying to save himself, just stood there, joking,
needling, thought Montag, and the thought was enough to stifle his sobbing and let him pause
for air (116). Beatty read books, which many in the society don t do. He wasn t able to live with
his knowledge, with no one else to talk to or discuss with. His actions prove, that to him, being
apart of the group is easier and better than being on your

Court Observation At Harris County Criminal Justice Court

Professor Donna Kohlhausen
November 14, 2016
Court Observation Paper The court I attended was the court # 184, on October 25th 2015 at
Harris County Criminal Justice Court , located in downtown of Houston city. The Judge in
charge was Jan Krocker. It was an aggravated sexual assault of child case between The State of
Texas vs. Samuel Gallegos. As I entered the court, the trial has already commenced so I did not
really know how a real trial started. I sat in the back where the public sits, facing the judge bench.
The courtroom was cold and quiet. Especially it was very small, much smaller and less
impressive than I expected.. Everyone was in formal dressing code. There were just a few
number of spectators and family members in the court room. There was a clerk who was typing
everything what was happening during the court time. Judge Krocker appeared to have things
under control and had the proceedings moving forward smoothly. She was a very friendly lady
with short blonde hair. She was listening attentively. She spoke clearly and distinctly so that
everyone in the courtroom could hear. Samuel Gallegos is a white man about 5 8 tall. He looked
quite nervous while some police officers were standing behind him. From what I understood, this
case was really happening back in 2014 and the suspect has criminal history relating to assault of
child and another related case to this case. On my left hand side were the bailiffs while some
others stood observed

  • 2. The Birth Of Virtual Teams Abstract Teams have always contributed significantly towards the successful operation of any organization. Traditionally, team members had to endure the challenges of time, distance, and even cultural differences in order to successfully complete a team activity. However, recent advancements in technology have led to the birth of virtual teams. The paper aims to explore the effectiveness and differences ofvirtual teamsas compared to face to face teams. The evaluation will be on the basis of dimensions such as performance, cohesion, conflict, trust and satisfaction among others. Introduction Due to the recent increased utilization of information communication technology in organizations, there has been a rising trend of the adoption of virtual teams. These teams have helped organizations conduct their businesses in a very effective way. In furtherance of that, these teams have also helped in enhancing the speed at which communication is carried out. For instance, team members in different countries or continents can actually contribute ideas for a project in real time via electronic means (Hendrickson, 1998). However, these groups have faced some criticisms which have made them to be underutilized. Some of the issues raised against these teams include lack of involvement and inclusiveness, lack of trust, lack of employees with technical and interpersonal skills and lack of cohesion among others. Past research has revealed that virtual teams have proved to be effective, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A typical orchid flower has three sepals (the outer segments that protect the bud before the flower opens), alternating with three petals. The petals and sepals may be similar or not, showy or inconspicuous. The middle petal, which is always opposite the column, is usually quite different from the others. So in appealing to sex, these orchids limit their potential pollinators, which would seem to be a reproductive disadvantage. Despite the apparent drawback, sexual deception has evolved several times in different types of orchids. So there must be some selective advantage, and researchers Salvatore Cozzolino and Giovanni Scopece of the University of Naples Federico II, Steven Johnson of University of KwaZulu Natal (South Africa) and Florian Schiestl of the University of ZГјrich appear to have figured out what it is. Schiestl and his team observed populations of 31 orchid species with varying pollination strategies in Italy and Western Australia. They measured the amount of pollenthat was taken from each orchid, and the amount of pollen that made it to its intended destination another orchid of the same species. They found that populations of sexually deceptive orchids had higher pollen transport efficiency than the species with multiple pollinators. In other words, a higher percentage of the pollen that was taken from sexually deceptive orchids actually made it to another orchid of the same species. The orchids with multiple pollinators had more pollen taken from their flowers, but more of that pollen was lost dropped to the ground or deposited in flowers of the wrong species. So it appears that specializing with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story is filled with sexual overtones and motifs. Lolita quickly attained a classic status. It has also been adapted several times into films and for the stage. When in 1962 the cinematic genius Stanley Kubrick moved Lolitato the silver screen, a question arose How did they ever make a movie of Lolita ? That question would remain, having even made its way to Lolita s movie posters. The screenplay for the film was created, with a help of Nabokov himself. The cast was very well thought of, Sue Lyon in the title role was very convincing, it was her first appearance on the silver screen for which she won a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer. James Mason starred in the role of Humbert Humbert was BAFTA and Golden Globe nominated for his appearance. • 7. Genetic Research And Its Effects On The Human Bodies Abstract This study helps us to understand what we need to know about companies owning specific portions of DNA sequences that exist in our own human bodies. The basis of genetic research and the idea of owning a gene were brought to light over 150 years ago when the Supreme Court ruled that you could not own human nature, but over time the advancement of scientific research and technology made genetic research and its findings more accessible. Genetic researchers were able to find genes that can help cure disease and could identify cancerous genes in humans. With companies being able to find these genes, they wanted to have chance to make money off of them; from tests for being applicable to cancer, disease, or any other medical problem. This became an issue because of how there are only few companies that you can go through for the test of that specific gene; they are a monopoly. Since the late 1990 s, people have begun to protest the right to own a gene in a human body and are wanting the companies to forfeit their rights of the ownership. This creates tensions because of the abundant amount of money associated with the gene. This makes the company come off as a negative aspect toward the next step in scientific discoveries. This study concludes that it is in the best interest of humans to make companies that own genes go to the Supreme Court in order to fight to protect ourselves against genetic monopolies, and to further develop scientific and technological ... • 15. The Importance Of Perfection In We Were Liars It is true that no one is perfect. One can then assume that people should strive to be perfect either. Perfection is boring anyways. 6.15 percent of the U.S. has depression, and 18 percent have anxiety. It is the most common mental illness in America. The reason of this is because we always try to reach perfection, and people are disappointed when it does not happen. This is shown a multitude of times in We Were Liars. Trying to be perfect causes so much heartache that could be avoided. People need to realize that perfection is boring, and being the best them is better. Not one of these symbols of prosperity and taste has any use at all. (Lockhart 45). This quote from We Were Liars is very true. Basically what it is saying is this: in the end, all of these pretty things and expensive brands is not going to mean anything. My Liars, my darlings. I killed them. (Lockhart 209). It is like here in the book. Cadence finds out her best friends are dead, and all the other things her familyworried about means nothing. The reason that people are attached to materialistic things because they feel it makes them better and boosts their status. People want to 2 boost their status to reach some sort of perfection. If they would realize that other things matter more than perfection and materialistic things, then they would not seem so important anymore. Race is another thing that society tries to pull apart and perfect. He was a stranger in our family even after all those years. (Lockhart 30). This quote shows that race is, in fact, an issue that people pick at. Usually it is people who think they are perfect. Anyone who thinks this is just plain wrong. Any person who believes they are better than someone because of their race is wrong. The Sinclair family tries so hard to be perfect that it hurts others. Meaning Gat. They push him away and make him feel alienated because they are worried of what other people might think. No one should be hurt at someone else s hand, just because they think they are superior to the other person. People try so hard to be perfect that it hurts them. • 19. Sensory Perceptual Phenomena Is An Event A Living Organism Sensory Perceptual Phenomena is an event a living organism experiences that involves biological, psychological, and cognitive determinants as a response to the environment (Gorbel, Oct. 28th). In order for the living organism to experience this phenomena, the brain and nervous system must organize and stabilize the living organism s sensory perceptual system (Gorbel, Nov. 16th) A primary function of the senseare biological transducers, devices that convert one kind of energy into another (Coon Mitterer, 124). The basic process that occurs in the sensory perceptual system begins with a physical energy from the living organism s environment. Then the phylogenetically engineered external organ is used in order to collect the energy from the environment. Receptor cells are then stimulated and create electro chemical reactions. Electrical impulses are encoded with information and travel the neural net. It will then be sent to a specific structure of the brain that correlates with the external organ. The information is decoded and the living organism becomes aware; this causes a physical stimulus response, also known as a sensation (Gorbel, Oct, 28th). However, there are other processes that are involved before the living organism produces a perception from a physical sensation. Other sensory organs and systems include: the eye and visual system, ears and auditory system, the nose and olfaction, taste buds or tongue and gustation, somesthetic sense and warning and reminding ... Rather, they are shallow water waves, with long periods (time between two sucessional waves) and wave lengths (distance between two sucessional waves). The wind generated swell one sees at a California beach, for example, spawned by a storm out in the Pacific and rhythmically rolling in might have a period of about 10 seconds and a wave length of 150 m. A tsunami, on the other hand, can have a wavelength in excess of 100 kilometer and period on the order of one hour. As a result of their long wave lengths, tsunamis behave as shallow water waves . A wave becomes a shallow water wave when the ratio between the water depth and its wave length gets very small. Shallow water waves move at a speed that is equal to the square root of the product of the acceleration of gravity and the water depth. In the Pacific Ocean, where the typical water depth is about 4,000 meter, a tsunami travels at about 200 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This performance was done by the New York Philharmonic and launched the New York Philharmonic s 175th anniversary season. This concert was performed by an orchestra and was definitely a performance I enjoyed to watch and listen to. In the beginning of the performance, the orchestra begins with an adagio tempo, using instruments such as cellos and violins. The tempo is very slow and soothing until it suddenly interrupted by the sound of trumpets. This is setting a tone that something very dramatic is about to happen. After the trumpets sound, oboes and flutes begin to play using the same adagio tempo as it was used in the beginning of the performance. As the flutes and clarinets slowly stop, you can see the conductor, Alan Gilbert, slowly move his arms apart to instruct the orchestra to get prepared. Gilbert then swings his arms up and the orchestra switches to an allegro tempo by using crescendo. Violins, cellos, drums, French horns, tenor trombones and bass trombones are now used to create a suspenseful tone as if something tragic has just happened. It then changes back to the adagio tempo using instruments with low pitch and then transfers back to the oboes, flutes and violins. From the sin of Claudius killing Hamlet senior to Othello giving Cassio the title of lieutenant both ignite fierce opposition with the thought of retribution. Though there is opposition to those two decisions, nothing follows with any order or morality. Instead of serving proper justice to Claudius or disagreeing with Othello s decision, the two men are brought to utter catastrophe. By heaven, I ll make a ghost of him that lets me! I say, away! Go on. I ll follow thee (Ham. I. v. 55). This serious episode that Hamlet displays is showing his lack of regard towards his men. • 27. The Importance Of Critical Thinking From Affecting School... The importance for an individual to be able to think critically has become a hot topic within recent years. Many adults are entering the workforce and are unable to complete aspects of their jobs that require them to think critically. Many are products of an education system that consisted of multiple choice assessments that only required them to recall the information, not to evaluate and synthesize it. Initiatives have been put in place to prevent this lack of critical thinking from affecting school aged children. More recently these initiatives have moved into higher educationas well. Critical thinking is defined in many different ways. Like many other researchers in the field of critical thinking Halpern (1993) argues that there is little agreement on the definition of critical thinking. However, she believes that overlap in various definition of the concept does exist. One of the main themes throughout the multiple definitions is that critical thinking is a higher order cognitive skill. This means that more information is needed to solve the problem or answer a question than just basic recall information or lower order thinking. Halpern (1998) describes higher order skills as being relatively complex in nature. Higher order skills require judgment, analysis, and synthesis. They are not applied in a rote or mechanical manner. This type of thinking is thinking that is reflective, sensitive to the context, and self monitored. Moore (2011) acknowledges that a debate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Doctor Stories use interior monologue in a stream of consciousness as a tool to reflect each narrator s experience and gives insight into the character and his appraisal of each of the situations encountered. It is through this stream of consciousness that we come to realize the observational nature of this doctors actions and thoughts. (pg. 55) The story then ends with a sense of hope for the young girl as she returns to school. From the beginning of The Use of Force, the doctor goes in to great detail about the patience it takes as he tries to coax the young girl to open her mouth. When he realizes the futility of his approach, he gives the child an ultimatum of Will you open it now by yourself or shall we have to open it for you? which is shown as he steels himself for the upcoming battle. (pg. 58) It is obvious that this doctor is committed to helping the uncooperative child, and his thoughts portray his determination that is untainted by a fear of hurting the girl in order to help her. This is in contrast to the obvious observance of the child s parents that fear hurting her which impedes the ability to heal her. It is probably a typical portrayal of parents that are so emotional and soft hearted that the doctor sees regularly, but contrasts the assertive actions of the doctor which leads the reader to realize that doing what is best for someone is not synonymous to what ... Ascribed social statuses are the social status that a person is assigned at birth or given later in life. First and foremost, being an American is something that many people take for granted. We have the chance to obtain a great life that not everyone has the chance at. It has opened so many doors for me including an education, security, opportunity, and so many more. Growing up an American has taught me many lessons. I have also learned not to take anything for granted. I am very blessed with the life I have, but nothing is guaranteed. You have to enjoy the good things in life, and embrace the hard ones. One more lesson is that life is full of choices, and the life that you end up with is more or less a result of those choices. I m not saying that it is a completely fair playing field, but I do believe that everyone generally has the opportunity at a successful life. The next important ascribed social statusis my age. Those people know what darkness is and have experienced it first hand, therefore they shine so much brighter. Aquaculture is defined as the business of farming aquatic animals and plants, under varying degrees of controlled conditions, both in marine and freshwater environments (Daf, 2017). Aquaculture has the potential, through harvesting and farming species, to support the growing demand for seafood (Daf, 2017). Aquaculture produces fish for food, sport, bait and ornamental, as well as crustaceans, molluscs, algae, sea vegetables and fish eggs (NOAA, 2017). At the time right before World War One, Russia had a population that was far beyond any of its neighboring countries. However, Russia had yet to fully industrialize. Through a fear of the rise of Russia, Germany decided a war was more favorable than peace negotiations and allowing Russia to climb in power. Dale Copeland and other Realismtheorist s show that World War One was caused by Germany (who was fearing a decline), pushed for a preventative war against Russia and tried to make it seem as it was Russia s fault. Realism is a theory that involves international politics focusing mainly on the role of each nation state. The theory focuses on the motivations of each state by their own national interests and usually disguise these interests as moral concerns (in order to get the citizens on board). There are five major assumptions that go along with Realism. First states are the main actors. In the case of World War One, Germany was focused on other country s rise due to their material capabilities and geographic positions. Second, is that the international system is anarchic. During World War One, there was no global government making sure a war did not happen. Every state was negotiating for themselves, and Germany had no desire for peace. The rest are unconditional covenants, they were made with no strings attached, meaning the agreement would be kept no matter what. The purpose of this paper is to examine each of these covenants and their results. The first covenant described in the Old Testament... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first one mentioned is the covenant of the Ten Commandments: no other gods, no idols, do not take the name of the Lord in vain, observe the Sabbath, honor your mother and father, do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony and do not covet (Ex 34:27 28). God told Moses that if these rules were broken then Israel would be destroyed. The next covenant made to Moses explains the rules of the Sabbath: no work on the Sabbath (Ex 31:12 17), whoever violates it must be put to death (Ex 31:15). The first two covenants made to Moses could be celebrated anywhere because the Jewish people were being relocated to other places. The third covenant that was made through Moses is considered the Law and the terms are: made known through fear (Ex 19:16), sealed by blood and an oath (Ex 24:7 8) and requires obedience (Ex 19:5). This covenant can be broken if disobeyed, but God promised that restoration is possible. The fourth and last covenant given through Moses has to due with Levitacal priesthood: eternal ministry of Levites before God (Dt 18:1 5), receive a portion of all offerings from the alter (Num 18:19), offerings include salt as a testimony to the covenant (Lev 2:13), broken by individuals (Neh 13:28 29) and lastely one could be a Levite and not a priest, but all priests were Levites and descended from ... From its earliest origins on TV to recent upgrades to technology on the internet, such as YouTube, anyone can watch music videos at any time of the day. Online music video sites draw an average of 150 million people each month who view more than two billion videos per day (Mischner, Schie, Wigboldus, Baaren, Engels, 2013). With this, more adolescents are being influenced by viewing these videos and mostly all of them are affected in some way, either positive or negative. What a lot of people do not know is what is happening to adolescents after viewing these types of music videos and how it can lead to concerning effects later in development. He wanted to stop books from getting banned but he did nothing, because no one else cared. I grumbled a few times and subsided, for there were no others grunting or yelling with me by then (78). In the past, he did not act without others, showing that he believes it is easier to stand up for what you believe in when you are with others. My cowardice is of such a passion, complementing the revolutionary spirit that lives in its shadow, I was forced to design this. He picked up a small green metal object no larger than a .22 bullet (86). Faber made the green bullet so he could listen to what was happening without being there himself. He doesn t have the courage to do it himself and has to rely on others. Beatty is not a coward himself, but believes in everyone being the same. Each man the image of every other, then all are happy (56). Beatty believes that everyone should be the same and think the same things, this would lead to a group mentality. Since, no one thinks individual thoughts, their inner strength would be very weak. They would just continue to go with the group and the safety it provides. Later in the book, Montag realizes that Beatty wanted to die. Beatty had wanted to die. He had just stood there, not really trying to save himself, just stood there, joking, needling, thought Montag, and the thought was enough to stifle his sobbing and let him pause for air (116). Beatty read books, which many in the society don t do. He wasn t able to live with his knowledge, with no one else to talk to or discuss with. His actions prove, that to him, being apart of the group is easier and better than being on your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Court Observation At Harris County Criminal Justice Court Quan Nguyen Business Law Professor Donna Kohlhausen November 14, 2016 Court Observation Paper The court I attended was the court # 184, on October 25th 2015 at Harris County Criminal Justice Court , located in downtown of Houston city. The Judge in charge was Jan Krocker. It was an aggravated sexual assault of child case between The State of Texas vs. Samuel Gallegos. As I entered the court, the trial has already commenced so I did not really know how a real trial started. I sat in the back where the public sits, facing the judge bench. The courtroom was cold and quiet. Especially it was very small, much smaller and less impressive than I expected.. Everyone was in formal dressing code. There were just a few number of spectators and family members in the court room. There was a clerk who was typing everything what was happening during the court time. Judge Krocker appeared to have things under control and had the proceedings moving forward smoothly. She was a very friendly lady with short blonde hair. She was listening attentively. She spoke clearly and distinctly so that everyone in the courtroom could hear. Samuel Gallegos is a white man about 5 8 tall. He looked quite nervous while some police officers were standing behind him. From what I understood, this case was really happening back in 2014 and the suspect has criminal history relating to assault of child and another related case to this case. On my left hand side were the bailiffs while some others stood observed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
