Depth Analysis of the Movie Crash
Abstract
This paper will provide a broad analysis of the movie Crash , and yet a specific
picture of visual narrative techniques and audio techniques. The categories contributing to the nucleus
and major movie components are theatrical elements, cinematography, editing, and sound. The
Academy Award winning movie Crash is a story about society s controversial subjects projected in an
in your face depiction of lives that in some way or another, cross.
Depth Analysis of the Movie Crash
The over all theme of the film is racism, which is dealt with honestly, brutally, and without
justification. This 2006 release from Emmy award winning writer/producer

The cast is one of the finest and consists of Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Jennifer
Esposito, William Fichtner, Brendan Fraser, Terrence Howard, Chris Ludacris Bridges, Thandie
Newton, Ryan Phillippe, Larenz Tate, and Michael Pena.
In general, actors act, and react. They act on their own, and they react to one another. After Don
Cheadle s monologue in the beginning of the film, it is clear that this film is going to be a deep seated
story. Films create movement out of images, time out of movement, and story from the action. The
writer/director Paul Haggis has a background in television, and television has multiple stories all
interweaving together. His knowledge from television helped in the editing process. In Crash, Paul
Haggis had several transitions in the story lines. He compressed some scenes because if too long, the
audience would lose interest in the other stories.
The cinematography in the movie adds a tremendous amount of experience to the film. The film
follows the lives of several characters that come from different walks of life. It is important for the
mood setting of the plot to use different techniques to help the viewer assume the role of witness. This
role is essential to the main idea of the film, which is a reflection of us and our natural feelings that at
times may be described as racist.
Lighting is a very important for any production. In the film there are several different lighting

In the article, Lagging Far Behind: Women in the Middle East Judith Colp Rubin (2012), an author,
journalist and publisher, demonstrates the main aspects behind causing inequality between male and
female rights in the Arab World. Colp Rubin clearly states based on certified statistical evidence, that
despite of the basic rights given to females in the Arab region, lack in the equilibrium between both
genders has still been consistent. She demonstrates her claim by referring to the discriminated political
roles given to women in government, to the violence and mistreatment caused by peers in the
surrounding society, and finally in the work field and education. Overall, the detailed ideas, the
objective and straight forward strategy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The repetitive mentioning of the poll in every section of the article provides a realistic taste to the
reader. This strategy is explained in next paragraphs. The author alters between different subjects in
relating to how women are in politics, successively grabbing the reader s interest. For example,
moving from Quota system, where the author indicates that it was one of the effective methods to
encourage women participation in governments, to how women belong to the justice system and how
they are truly denied as judges. Moving from politics to personal status laws, the author demonstrates
a magnificent effort in dragging the pictures of discrimination and violence to the reader s mind.
Supported by great evidence, the article seems to be more convincing, which results in gaining the
audience s trust. For example, percentage of polygamy, divorce rates, honor killings and the
mentioning of the results of those issues, particularly in the Arab Human Development Report,
contribute in convincing the audience of how serious the subject is. Finally, Colp Rubin concludes
with how women in the Arab world are related to Education the Work Force . Again, the author
successfully manages to view images of discrimination that took place in

Exodus Summary Sparknotes
Exodus Summary
Exodus is the second book of the Bible. Exodus follows after Jacob and his family arrived in Egypt
and after Joseph died. After Joseph died the new Egyptian pharaoh began to realize that the Israelite
population was on the rise and oppressed them by making them slaves. The story of Exodus follows
the oppression of the Israelites, Rise of Moses, The Exodus, and Mount Sinai. After Joseph died the
new Egyptian pharaoh began to realize that the Israelite population was on the rise and oppressed
them by making them slaves. As a result of being slaves and beginning to populate Egypt the
Egyptians decided to kill all the firstborn Israelite male babies. The only one to escape this massacre
was Moses who s mother put him in a basket and put him in the water. He was then found by Pharaoh
s daughter and she saved him and treated him as if he was her own son. As a result of the event of
having been enslaved and having their male children killed the Israelites cried out to God and he heard
them. God calls Moses to be the Israelites deliverer. This is a man who ran from Egypt because he
killed an Egyptian and was content to spend his life as a shepherd. But God had different plans for
Moses because the Lord uses the most imperfect people and empowers them to do his will. The Lord
met with Moses and called him to deliver his people but Moses wanted to argue with God because
Moses did not believe he was the right choice. Moses argued he was not the best choice because

Couple Therapy
Gender differences in couples work
Couple therapy often refers to the common negative process, of pursuer and withdrawer, in order to
understand the relational dance. This is the process where one partner purses the other through
emotional demands, criticism, and complaints, while the other retreats through withdrawal,
defensiveness, and passive interaction (Christensen, Heavey,1990). Many theorists have identified a
gender linkage with this pattern, suggesting women present as the demanding, pursuer, while men
assume the role of the distant, withdrawer (Christensen, Heavey,1990; Mornells, 1979). There is a
belief among some theorists that this pattern results from different personality characteristics of men
and women, and therefore impacted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Same sex couples report having less family support than heterosexual couples, this doesn t appear to
be completely to do with estrangement from family of origin, rather many couples contend with
family relationships that are difficult and stressful (Rostosky et al., 2004). Rarely do same sex couples
enjoy immediate, consistent, and pervasive emotional support and acceptance upon disclosure of their
relationship to their families of origin (Rostosky et al., 2004). Many theorists believe the coming out
stage is necessary in the development of a healthy identity. The coming out stage often is a time of
great stress as individuals anticipate the reactions of their family of origin. Rostosky s (2004) research
indicates that same sex couples perceived support from family of origin no matter how tenuous has a
powerful impact on same sex couple, even after the initial

Essay On BBC Media Coverage
This essay will argue that whilst the BBC media coverage of my chosen article has good attributes,
there is a lack of extensiveness and some of the information that is presented to the reader is
misleading. Throughout this essay I will analyse the original research study and compare the findings
to previous research. Secondly, an analysis of the media s article will be conducted, before comparing
it the research study. Lastly, I will conclude that the BBC s representation of the study is imprecise
and biased as they excluded limitations and misrepresented the method and findings, thus impacting
the readers ability to acquire precise and impartial information.

abilities in children. They used an independent groups design to compare the results of verbal and
visuospatial WM memory between the experimental condition which had 114 participants and the
control condition had 21 participants. The children played a multiple choice trivia game and were
categorised as being good liars (GL) or bad liars (BL) based on how they answered entrapment
questions, which were used to detect which children looked at the answer when the experimenter wasn

U.s. Dollar s World Reserve Status
Throughout the 20th century, the United States has slowly constructed a global system of control. Its
superior military, weaponry and intelligence apparatus have been crucial in this system, but an equally
important factor has been its control of the global economy, and its primary weapon, the U.S. Dollar.
The dollar s world reserve status alone does not make it unique, but its deeply rooted role in American
and global geo politics certainly does. As Vassili Fouskas and Bülent Gökay point out in their book
The New American Imperialism, Dollar hegemony has always been strategic to the future of American
global dominance, in many respects more important than America s overwhelming military power.
While military power is more visible and useful as a display, it is the dollar s role as reserve currency
that secures the domination of the U.S. in the global economic market place . [1] This system is built
on serious fault lines and its future is the most important issue for international relations today.
To understand how the dollar secures American hegemony requires some review of history. After the
Great Depression and World War II, the economic structures of the Old World powers were destroyed
and in dire need of reconstruction. Only America remained in one piece, a situation that allowed it to
decide how the new world order would work. As World War II was ending, representatives from the
Allied nations were gathered in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, where negotiations for this

Famous Places #24
In the Arthurian Legend, there are four main places that played key roles in King Arthur s majestic
life. The famous places that are linked to King Arthur s life are the Tintagel Castle, Battle of Mt.
Badon, Battle of Camlann, and Glastonbury. These four places are important because they show where
King Arthur started in his life and where he ended his life. There are also many sources that tell what
happened at these places, but it is up to the reader to decide which one to read or believe.
Tintagel Castle is a castle that is located on the north coastal tip of Cornwall, England. This castle is

Glastonbury is a small rural town located in Somerset, England. However, before this became a town,
Glastonbury was almost an island with wetlands surrounding it. Over the years it has been said that
King Arthur was buried here and finished his life at Glastonbury. Since Glastonbury was very close to
being a small island at once, it is highly possible and most likely that a boat brought King Arthur to
Glastonbury where possible medical attention was available after being severely wounded from his
nephew in the Battle of Camlann. After dying from his wounds, Arthur was said to be buried on the
south side of the cemetery, right in the middle of two large stone pyramids. Eventually, a man named
Henry II, the King of England at that time had information about the cemetery and asked the Abbot to
dig within the site of the cemetery . Around 1191, a large wooden coffin was discovered and right
beneath the coffin, a white lead cross that read Hic jacet sepultus inclitus rex Arturius in insula
Avalonia. If translated into english, it would say Here lies King Arthur buried in Avalon. In the coffin
two intact bodies were found inside it. One was King Arthur and the other was his wife, Guinevere.
Unfortunately, Henry did not see these bodies due to his health. After the bones were later discovered,
they were soon placed into a new tomb and moved to the South Transept of the site. In 1278 King

How Does Buffy The Vampire Slayer Symbolism
Buffy is a woman known for being strong, smart, and independent. The show, Buffy the Vampire
Slayer, teaches a multitude of life lessons, not to judge a book by its cover and that actions speak
louder than words. Even though Buffy has incredible strength and is seen as an independent woman,
she is still a teenager, within the episode Hush, she symbolizes typical teenage struggles. Near the
beginning of the episode, Buffy is unable to focus during class instead she continuously daydreams.
Buffy daydreaming in class is symbolic to typical high school students. This is symbolic of typical
teenage struggles because teenagers are typically tired during class or may they hit a point where they
become uninterested in the subject being taught so they resort to daydreaming, allowing their mind to
go elsewhere. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Riley and Buffy are walking in the school s grotto Riley tries to ask Buffy if she would like to hang

subject. Another encounter occurs on the street at night, even though Buffy cannot talk she still tries to
avoid showing her true feelings towards Riley until he kisses her. Then near the end of the episode,
Riley steps into Buffy s dorm room explaining to her that they need to talk about what had happened
the other night. Buffy becomes tongue tied not knowing what to say about that night. Teenagers are
still young, but are still growing mentally and physically so they are reaching the stage in life where
they start to have built up a strong feeling for a certain someone because of their looks or even their

Mise-En-Scene, Editing And Cinematographic Elements In The...
The Godfather , a crime noir film produced in 1972, is about an aged patriarch of a famous mafia
dynasty that transfers control of his business to his disinclined son. It was directed by Francis Ford
Cappola and stars actors such as Al Pacino and Marlon Brando. The film s numerous achievements,
specifically in the opening sequence, stem from the exemplary utilization and integration of misé en
scene, editing, and cinematographic elements. Mise en scene is a key element in the representation of
a character. For example, the film begins with a slow jazz soundtrack, a characteristic of thriller films
during the 1970 s. Then a plain black background streches across the screen, setting the stage for what
is about to appear in front of us. Black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This scene is edited with a very slow pace that creates a sense of calm and suggests the control that
Don Corleone has over the situation. The sequence begins with a close up on Amerigo Bonasera as he
stares in the camera while it zooms out, telling the audience about his daughter s rape. William
Reynolds and Peter Zinner, the lead editors of the film, used this shot, that spans the next three
minutes of the film, to add a sense of insecurity and rising tension. It also is used to reveal Bonasera is
talking to a mysterious figure disguised by the shadows and that three other men are present, but
without giving the setting of the scene or who these men are. Then, they break the three minute shot
by giving the audience their first glance at the mysterious figure in the shadows. They cut to a medium
shot of Don Corleone, the leader of this organized crime dynasty, finally revealing this shadowy figure
to the audience, relieving them of some tension. The camera shifts location again in order to reveal the
scene, something like an establishing shot. Here, they reveal four male characters, all dressed in suits,
and the only lights coming from the slats in the blinds and the sole artificial light on the right side of
the room. Don Corleone is also placed in the center of this shot with every other character facing him,
giving him a sense of power. Next, they cut to a medium shot of the godfather sitting

The Second Tradition of Thanksgiving Essay
When the great holiday of Thanksgiving comes to mind, most people think of becoming total gluttons
and gorging themselves with a seemingly unending amount of food. Others might think of the time
spent with family and friends. The whole basis of the holiday is family togetherness, fellowship, and
thankfulness for blessings received during the previous year.
Every family has their own unique way of spending time together with loved ones only seen during
the holidays. In the Stock home, there is only one thing we enjoy doing. Sure, like every other family

After all a truly intelligent mind could be playing video games or running around endlessly with your

energy any more, and that I could not be part of that much physical activity without feeling as old as
my father the next morning. So after weighing these problems, I realized that the men in my

what better way strengthen my relationship with my family than to share in this excellent tradition.

Positive Impact On Our Culture By Josh Rose And Is...
Is society being dehumanized by technology? Or are technological advancements bringing people
closer together? In recent years, the growing use of technology has been impacting the way humans
function and communicate in everyday life. Accelerating rates of social media usage questions the vast
impact on society. Thus, emerging the argument of whether or not social media is playing the role of
connecting the world together or tearing it apart and leaving individuals to feel a sense of loneliness.
In the articles How Social Media Is Having a Positive Impact on Our Culture by Josh Rose and Is
Facebook Making Us Lonely by Stephen Marche, the authors discuss opposing views on the topic of
social media. Rose argues that social media has had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the article Rose discusses many assumptions without any quality support. He bases
observation from a coffee shop and states four people are looking at screens and four people are
reading something on paper. And I m doing both. I see Facebook open on two screens, but I m sure at
some point, it s been open on all of them ( Rose 555). Rose one, is assuming that everyone uses
facebook and two, is assuming that the people in this coffee shop represent the world and that
everyone is similar to this one room. He then states that people aren t giving up long form reading,
considered thinking, or social interactions. They are just filling all the space in between (Rose 555).
Again, making assumptions that if people are using social media they must be doing it just to fill time.
That however, is a hasty generalization made from flawed inductive reasoning and is therefore invalid
and causes readers to lose both trust and interest in what Rose has to say. Throughout the article Rose
uses his opinion and starts sentences off with I think in hopes to persuade the reader, however this
opinion based argumentation is not helpful in gaining reliance. For example rose states, I think we can
all agree which one feels better (555). While he may be right that most people will agree with him,
leaving his argument up to assumptions is a poor decision rather than backing it up with facts and

Effects Of Extracurricular Activities Essay

skills or knowledge, and take place outside of school hours. Extracurricular activities offer
experiences of teamwork and support the development of many social, cognitive, and physical skills

The positive effects that extracurricular activities have on students are behavior, better grades, school
completion, positive aspects to become successful adults, and a social aspect (Massoni, 2011).
Students that actively participate in extracurricular activities have reduced behavior problems. The
students who participate in extracurricular will show good self discipline. They also have
responsibility to perform the task correctly. When students perform these things correctly, they are
rewarded for their good behavior and they take pride in their accomplishments. Because of the pride
they achieve, they gain better self respect, self esteem, and self confidence.
The other effect of extracurricular activities for students is the social aspect. Students that are involved
in extracurricular activities meet many new people. By joining extracurricular activities, the students
will meet people that they share interests with. In extracurricular activities, students also learn about

The Difference Between Looking And Perception In Raymond...
What is the true difference between looking and perceiving? In Cathedral , l Carver reveals human
rediscovery through contrast in between characters whose perception determines the narrator changes
of mind. The narrator in Cathedral is modeled as an ignorant person who does not seem to perceive
the world with knowledge. Instead, he only has the ability to see the world with his sight in the
beginning of the story. His limited view to the world reveals his lack of human experience in life thus
he usually attempts to perceive life with his stereotypical view. The other two characters, including the
wife and Robert, are both perceiving the world with numerous life experiences. They are the contrast
to the narrator yet they are helping the narrator to rediscover human worth through their ways of
perceiving the world. Robert is especially the significant person that changes the narrator mind by
showing what he can do as a blind man. Raymond Carver contrasts the wife and Robert with narrator
in many directions to bring out the process of how the narrator changes from an ignorant person to a
man who starts to know how to perceive the world with his mind but not the eyes.
The contrast between the wife and the narrator is shown through their different attitude toward Robert
s visit and also the lost of his wife. Robert is an extremely important person for narrator s wife who
suffers in her previous marriage and even commit suicide. The communication between the wife and

The Brain Is The Most Important Components Of The Human Brain
The brain is the greatest, the most fascinating and the most complex organ of the human been.
According to Dr. Wolfe, the human brain weighs about three pound. Humans do not feel its weight
because it is full of fluids and it is floating. The human brain consumes ten times more oxygen of all
the humans body parts and 25% of the total energy produced by the body. It is not the largest part of
the humans body, but it is one of the most important parts. Through the years educators were like
doctors giving certain treatment to their patients without being sure what the disease was. If the first
treatment given did not work they gave another treatment and so on. Nowadays technology has help to
study how animals and humans brain works. It also has helped to discover how and where information
is manipulated within the brain during the learning process. To discover how the brain works, the
brain was divided in many parts. According to the book, the brain structures are cerebellum, brain
stem, temporal lobe, broca s area, frontal lobe, motor cortex, sensory cortex, parietal lobe, wernicke s
area, occipital lobe, hypothalamus and pituitary gland (Bohlin, Durwin, Reese Weber, 2012). The
major lobes of the brain are frontal, occipital, parental and temporal and each of them has different
functions during the learning process. Frontal lobe is responsible for higher standard thinking.
According to the book, during the learning process, frontal lobe controls attention, creative

James Rachels essay titled The Challenge of Cultural Relativism is more of a critique over what
philosophers call Cultural Relativism. A theory in which states that there is no real sense of morality

These are practices that are necessary in order for a society to continue thriving generation after
generation.
Different cultures have different moral codes. (Benedict, 18) What people find right or wrong lies in
the matter of opinion, which can vary depending on the type of culture they take a part of. This is the
first of the five main claims Rachels mentions in his essay that take a part of Cultural Relativism.
Which, by itself, is painfully obvious, it only takes a moment of learning about different cultures to
know this. But it is when the second claim; The moral code of a society determines what is right
within that society; that is, if the moral code of a society says that a certain action is right, then that
action is right, at least within that society (Rachels, 16) comes into place that brings up the cultural
differences argument. There are a lot of differences when it comes to moral cultures, this can be seen
from something as little as the mannerisms of the individuals to something as extreme as life and
death as Rachels mentioned with the example of the Eskimos. With those differences in mind, there
come different claims of morality depending on when and where the person is from. And thus,
morality becomes relative in regards to the cultural norms. And Rachels demonstrates an argument
against this, yes, there are differences amongst cultures, but it doesn t imply any difference when it
comes to the truth. Such as

Dementia Essay
Dementia amongst the aging population is a major health concern today. Currently, over 37 million
people around the world suffer from dementia [1]. This number is only going to increase as life
expectancy increases and the baby boomer generation ages. Dementia is commonly associated with
aging and comes with effects of cognitive decline, personality changes, failure to perform daily
activities, and many more [7]. Currently, there is no cure for dementia. However, certain drugs may be
prescribed for treatment [2]. Research is beginning to explore other factors that contribute to
dementia. One factor includes vitamin D, which has many uses in the body such as cognitive
functioning [10]. Moreover, vitamin D deficiency has been linked to dementia ... Show more content

This number is only expected to increase in the coming years as life expectancy continues to increase
and the baby boomer generation ages [7]. The most common cause of dementia is Alzheimer s disease,
which is characterized as a neurodegenerative disease that includes tangles of neuronal proteins. These
tangles cause inflammation and oxidative stress that are similarly involved in neuronal death, which
has a major impact on necessary neural processes [4]. Common risk factors of dementia include past
head injuries, aging, family history of dementia, alcohol use, diseases affecting the blood, and mental
illnesses [2]. Memory loss, failure to perform daily activities, personality and behavioral changes,
psychiatric problems, and other diminishing cognitive functions are effects associated with dementia
[7]. Not only can these diminishing factors lead to total dependency, they can lead to complete
incapacity and ultimately death in only three to nine years post diagnosis [3]. These factors are all
leading signs of the appropriate diagnosis of

South Portland Community College ( Spcc ) Essay
South Portland Community College (SPCC) is located in the primarily White state of Maine. Southern
Maine is more racially diverse than the rest of Maine, but still has only a 15% non White population.
Of the over 6,000 students enrolled at SPCC, less than 20% identify as non White, and just 6% are
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans*, Queer (LGBTQ+) identified. To address the diverse needs of these
traditionally marginalized student populations on campus, over the last several decades SPCC
administrators, faculty, and students created the Office of Multicultural Student Life (OMSL) and the
Spectrum Center for Gender and Sexual Diversity (the Spectrum Center). The Office of Multicultural
Student Life (OMSL) provides a space for racially and ethnically marginalized students to meet and
create community. The OMSL, led by Director Tom Haverford, organizes events to celebrate students
diverse cultures in a way that educates others in the community. The office provides a common area
with couches and tables intended to facilitate discussions between students, staff, and faculty who
spend time in the office. Director Haverford collaborates with other groups and offices on campus to
organize larger events including dance festivals, poetry nights dedicated to celebrating diversity,
cultural potlucks featuring ethnically diverse meals made by students, and a weekly coffee hour in the

Research Paper On Le Bateau-Lavoir
He was a Spanish painter and sculptor, born into a wealthy family in Madrid in 1887. He abandoned,
at the age of seventeen, his engineering studies to dedicate himself to learn to paint. Two years later, in
1906, he moved to Paris and settled in the prestigious artists residence and meeting place, Le Bateau

whom he contributed to the evolution of Cubism.
His first paintings, revealed to the public at the 1912 Salon des Indépendants, made a great
impression. He offered a personal Cubist style. He played a key role in the development of the second

Philosophies Of Ancient China
Chinese Philosophies
Violence became common during the time referred to as the Period of the Warring States. Because
violence was common in the Zhou kingdom, it started to weaken. During this war, armies were sent to
destroy other enemies states. Also, villages of men, women, and children were beheaded. The Chinese
people, during this period, wanted to find ways to restore the order to society. As a result, three well
known Chinese thinkers with extremely different perspectives offered a solution for these troubled
times. These philosophies included: Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism.
Confucianism was one of the philosophies that was one solution to create a peace to society.
Confucius was the founder of Confucianism, who was known to be ancient China s first great thinker
and teacher. He felt that the Chinese people needed a sense of duty. Furthermore, a duty means that
these people should do what others and the community need before they complete their own needs for
themselves. In this philosophy, there was the Golden Rule, which was, Do unto others as you would
have unto to you. Moreover, the rule means people should treat others the way they want to be treated.

Daoism had of modern life was that it teaches the importance of nature and encourages people to treat
nature with respect and reverence. The ideas of the Dao were written in the language of Dao De Jing.
In this philosophy, the people believed that the others should give up all worldly desires in favor of
nature and the Dao they have (Spielvogel 290 291). Another philosophy for restoring peace to society

Reflection Of The Camino
The Camino Day 1: We left the College on Saturday, the 6th of May. The flight departed at 11:45 and
we didn t arrive at Biarritz until 2:50. Then we got a bus from the airport to St Jean Pied de Port, a
small village at the base of the Pyrenees Mountains. When we got to St Jean, I was taken aback by the
town. It was a mixture of old streets and building from centuries ago and modern roads and shops. We
had a mass in the local parish before we got to explore the town. It was late by then so most of the
shops were closed, but you still got a feel for the town as we strolled down the narrow streets. A
parade was commencing when we were wandering around that was celebrating the Basque Region s
heritage. They were dressed in their traditional clothes and were waving the Basque flag. I didn t
know about the Basque Region s fight for independence before then but Mr. Mccormack explained it
to me. To greatly simplify it, the citizens of the Basque Region believe they shouldn t be members of
France and Spain because they have their own traditions, customs and lifestyles that oppose those of
the French and Spanish. After exploring the town we returned to the hotel, reflected on the day, ate
dinner, and then went to bed. Day 2: The second day involved a lot more work than the first. It was

Hotspur In King Henry IV
Violent change that is political in nature also arises through the character of Hotspur in the play, King
Henry IV, Part One. Like Evie and V s revolt, Hotspur, through the rebel camp, similarly enacts a
revolt against the established governmental power by specifically, trying to kill King Henry IV. As
with the other examples, Hotspur does this for personal reasons related to past events. For instance,
Hotspur believes that King Henry IV by not providing ransom for his brother in law, Mortimer is
consequently, not properly repaying his family for their previous assistance to King Henry IV s
ascension to the throne. Thus, just as in the Word for World is Forest, the conflict that Hotspur creates

Often the term disparities is related to a specific racial or ethnic group of people, many variations of
disparities exist in America, mainly in regards to health. If any outcome from health disparities can be
ascertained is populations and regions in America.
Healthy People 2020 creates a compilation of reports in an effort to pinpoint area of disparities among
populations, demographics and geographical location. In 2008 more than 33% or more than one
million people identified themselves as ethnic or minority (Healthy People 2000) In 2008 51% of
those people were women (Healthy People 2020).
Major disparities continue to exist in spite of America s Affordable Care Act , Although minorities
suffer disease five times greater than the rest of the nation, minorities represent the majority of the
disparity. Infant Mortality has always been America s indicator as to the state of the countries health
status. America is one of the wealthiest and most powerful nations in the world, However, America
ranks number 24th in the world for infant mortality. Puerto Rican and Indian women rank highest

And with this growth came a wider variety of films. But, perhaps inevitably, it was not until the
political upheaval in the years following WWII and the onset of the Palestinian Israeli conflict that
Arab cinema took up more hard hitting themes. (Seymour 70). Therefore, the European colonization
of the Arab nations touched the industry of Arab films positively.
Nevertheless, the industry of films in the Arab nations was not able to fund programs and movies in
spite of the needs to new programs and films. According to Viola Shafik in the Arab Cinema book, the
Arab channels have been in need for new programs but there is no funds that can support them. Two

Lgbt History And The Modern Era
There are many topics prevalent shown throughout history. History books in today s society highlight
the majority of groups of people and historical events. This essay will prove that there is a problematic
issue where LGBT lives and existences are being erased throughout history and the modern era.
Throughout, it will be explained how these groups of people are being underrepresented within
history, major wars, and the modern era.
History covers a very broad spectrum of time, with recorded history going as far back as five thousand
years. Yet, within this period of five thousand years, history books implemented in school systems
rarely give detail to LGBT people (Carter, It s Time to Write LGBT History into the Textbooks ). For
example, within America, homosexuality has been shown throughout Native American tribes long
before Europeans even stepped foot onto the land. While traditional European beliefs define a person s
sexual identity male or female based on biological determination, Native American s have a vast

identity mirrored one another, each containing their own magical attributes according to lore. While
gender identity defined Native American gender roles, their expectations for the two spirits differed.

James Buchanan Failure
Tall, stately, stiffly formal in the high stock he wore around his jowls, James Buchanan was the only
President who never married.
Presiding over a rapidly dividing Nation, Buchanan grasped inadequately the political realities of the
time. Relying on constitutional doctrines to close the widening rift over slavery, he failed to
understand that the North would not accept constitutional arguments which favored the South. Nor
could he realize how sectionalism had realigned political parties: the Democrats split; the Whigs were

Thus, in his Inaugural the President referred to the territorial question as happily, a matter of but little

Two days later Chief Justice Roger B. Taney delivered the Dred Scott decision, asserting that

The Internet And Global Positioning System
Humans throughout the ages have used maps to help them travel. As we enter the modern age, maps

Mini Project #5 Although each school of thought (Food Literacy, Food Justice, or Food Sovereignty)
is drastically important in equal ways, we decided to examine food sovereignty a little more in depth
and, more specifically, food waste. The excessive amount of food waste being produced around the
world is being brought to the spotlight, and many individuals and organizations have taken the
initiative to assist in fighting this battle. Limiting food waste could not only decrease the damage done
to the environment, but it could also assist in fixing many food insecurities around the world.
This article by Quested, Marsh, Stunell, Parry goes over some of the various causes for food waste. It
discusses the difficulty of cutting back on food waste in observable ways, making people less likely to

  • 5. Exodus Summary Sparknotes Exodus Summary Exodus is the second book of the Bible. Exodus follows after Jacob and his family arrived in Egypt and after Joseph died. After Joseph died the new Egyptian pharaoh began to realize that the Israelite population was on the rise and oppressed them by making them slaves. The story of Exodus follows the oppression of the Israelites, Rise of Moses, The Exodus, and Mount Sinai. After Joseph died the new Egyptian pharaoh began to realize that the Israelite population was on the rise and oppressed them by making them slaves. As a result of being slaves and beginning to populate Egypt the Egyptians decided to kill all the firstborn Israelite male babies. The only one to escape this massacre was Moses who s mother put him in a basket and put him in the water. He was then found by Pharaoh s daughter and she saved him and treated him as if he was her own son. As a result of the event of having been enslaved and having their male children killed the Israelites cried out to God and he heard them. God calls Moses to be the Israelites deliverer. This is a man who ran from Egypt because he killed an Egyptian and was content to spend his life as a shepherd. But God had different plans for Moses because the Lord uses the most imperfect people and empowers them to do his will. The Lord met with Moses and called him to deliver his people but Moses wanted to argue with God because Moses did not believe he was the right choice. This is the process where one partner purses the other through emotional demands, criticism, and complaints, while the other retreats through withdrawal, defensiveness, and passive interaction (Christensen, Heavey,1990). Many theorists have identified a gender linkage with this pattern, suggesting women present as the demanding, pursuer, while men assume the role of the distant, withdrawer (Christensen, Heavey,1990; Mornells, 1979). Essay On BBC Media Coverage This essay will argue that whilst the BBC media coverage of my chosen article has good attributes, there is a lack of extensiveness and some of the information that is presented to the reader is misleading. Throughout this essay I will analyse the original research study and compare the findings to previous research. Secondly, an analysis of the media s article will be conducted, before comparing it the research study. Lastly, I will conclude that the BBC s representation of the study is imprecise and biased as they excluded limitations and misrepresented the method and findings, thus impacting the readers ability to acquire precise and impartial information. Alloway, McCallum, Alloway and Hoicka (2015) recruited participants between the ages of six and seven to assess whether verbal working memory (WM) has a significant influence on verbal deceptive abilities in children. They used an independent groups design to compare the results of verbal and visuospatial WM memory between the experimental condition which had 114 participants and the control condition had 21 participants. The children played a multiple choice trivia game and were categorised as being good liars (GL) or bad liars (BL) based on how they answered entrapment questions, which were used to detect which children looked at the answer when the experimenter wasn t present. • 8. U.s. Dollar s World Reserve Status Throughout the 20th century, the United States has slowly constructed a global system of control. Its superior military, weaponry and intelligence apparatus have been crucial in this system, but an equally important factor has been its control of the global economy, and its primary weapon, the U.S. Dollar. The dollar s world reserve status alone does not make it unique, but its deeply rooted role in American and global geo politics certainly does. As Vassili Fouskas and Bülent Gökay point out in their book The New American Imperialism, Dollar hegemony has always been strategic to the future of American global dominance, in many respects more important than America s overwhelming military power. While military power is more visible and useful as a display, it is the dollar s role as reserve currency that secures the domination of the U.S. in the global economic market place . [1] This system is built on serious fault lines and its future is the most important issue for international relations today. To understand how the dollar secures American hegemony requires some review of history. After the Great Depression and World War II, the economic structures of the Old World powers were destroyed and in dire need of reconstruction. Only America remained in one piece, a situation that allowed it to decide how the new world order would work. As World War II was ending, representatives from the Allied nations were gathered in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, where negotiations for this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, before this became a town, Glastonbury was almost an island with wetlands surrounding it. Over the years it has been said that King Arthur was buried here and finished his life at Glastonbury. Since Glastonbury was very close to being a small island at once, it is highly possible and most likely that a boat brought King Arthur to Glastonbury where possible medical attention was available after being severely wounded from his nephew in the Battle of Camlann. After dying from his wounds, Arthur was said to be buried on the south side of the cemetery, right in the middle of two large stone pyramids. Eventually, a man named Henry II, the King of England at that time had information about the cemetery and asked the Abbot to dig within the site of the cemetery . Around 1191, a large wooden coffin was discovered and right beneath the coffin, a white lead cross that read Hic jacet sepultus inclitus rex Arturius in insula Avalonia. If translated into english, it would say Here lies King Arthur buried in Avalon. In the coffin two intact bodies were found inside it. One was King Arthur and the other was his wife, Guinevere. The Godfather , a crime noir film produced in 1972, is about an aged patriarch of a famous mafia dynasty that transfers control of his business to his disinclined son. The film s numerous achievements, specifically in the opening sequence, stem from the exemplary utilization and integration of misé en scene, editing, and cinematographic elements. Mise en scene is a key element in the representation of a character. For example, the film begins with a slow jazz soundtrack, a characteristic of thriller films during the 1970 s. William Reynolds and Peter Zinner, the lead editors of the film, used this shot, that spans the next three minutes of the film, to add a sense of insecurity and rising tension. It also is used to reveal Bonasera is talking to a mysterious figure disguised by the shadows and that three other men are present, but without giving the setting of the scene or who these men are. Then, they break the three minute shot by giving the audience their first glance at the mysterious figure in the shadows. They cut to a medium shot of Don Corleone, the leader of this organized crime dynasty, finally revealing this shadowy figure to the audience, relieving them of some tension. Rose one, is assuming that everyone uses facebook and two, is assuming that the people in this coffee shop represent the world and that everyone is similar to this one room. He then states that people aren t giving up long form reading, considered thinking, or social interactions. They are just filling all the space in between (Rose 555). That however, is a hasty generalization made from flawed inductive reasoning and is therefore invalid and causes readers to lose both trust and interest in what Rose has to say. (Benedict, 18) What people find right or wrong lies in the matter of opinion, which can vary depending on the type of culture they take a part of. This is the first of the five main claims Rachels mentions in his essay that take a part of Cultural Relativism. Which, by itself, is painfully obvious, it only takes a moment of learning about different cultures to know this. But it is when the second claim; The moral code of a society determines what is right within that society; that is, if the moral code of a society says that a certain action is right, then that action is right, at least within that society (Rachels, 16) comes into place that brings up the cultural differences argument. There are a lot of differences when it comes to moral cultures, this can be seen from something as little as the mannerisms of the individuals to something as extreme as life and death as Rachels mentioned with the example of the Eskimos. With those differences in mind, there come different claims of morality depending on when and where the person is from. And thus, morality becomes relative in regards to the cultural norms. Like Evie and V s revolt, Hotspur, through the rebel camp, similarly enacts a revolt against the established governmental power by specifically, trying to kill King Henry IV. As with the other examples, Hotspur does this for personal reasons related to past events. For instance, Hotspur believes that King Henry IV by not providing ransom for his brother in law, Mortimer is consequently, not properly repaying his family for their previous assistance to King Henry IV s ascension to the throne. Causes Of Food Waste Essay Mini Project #5 Although each school of thought (Food Literacy, Food Justice, or Food Sovereignty) is drastically important in equal ways, we decided to examine food sovereignty a little more in depth and, more specifically, food waste. The excessive amount of food waste being produced around the world is being brought to the spotlight, and many individuals and organizations have taken the initiative to assist in fighting this battle. Limiting food waste could not only decrease the damage done to the environment, but it could also assist in fixing many food insecurities around the world. This article by Quested, Marsh, Stunell, Parry goes over some of the various causes for food waste. It discusses the difficulty of cutting back on food waste in observable ways, making people less likely to do it. This is unlike with recycling, where it easy to see a bottle physically be placed in a recycling bin. The action of reducing food waste is also a multi step process that is usually time consuming, making it even harder for families to cut down on waste. Food waste reduction is also not a one size fits all problem, making it harder to easily cut back on. Storing produce in the refrigerator may have better benefits for some families, while buying larger amounts less frequently could be a better fit for others. Food is also cheaper in larger quantities, which makes it easier to justifiably buy more than needed, as well as making it more difficult for single occupancy homes to ...
