Advantages Of Communism In Animal Farm
Animal Farm: Communism as an Economic System
Orwell presents the basic concepts of communism in an interesting and entertaining manner. In fact,
the fictional Animalism reduplicates communism. Communism makes people free, but restrains them
at the same time; its main idea makes everyone equal, but provides huge privileges for its leaders; and
its command economy provides enough food, but deprives people of choice.
Animalism and communism are two identical concepts with different names. Orwell s representation
of communism as a system is rather specific, and it is similar to the communism in the USSR. First of
all, Animalism fights with the existence of slavery. Thus, animals were like slaves on the farm because
they had to work hard, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, it is forbidden for one of the animals to wear beautiful ribbons though this animal likes
them. By describing this situation, Orwell means the limitations of the planned economy, which is
peculiar to communism. When the government controls all spheres of the economy, the competition
does not exist (Gowans, 2012). Therefore, governmentally controlled factories create similar clothes
for everyone. Another disadvantage of this system is that its leaders claim that everyone is equal, but
they have more benefits than others. Pigs are leaders on the farm, and they start to take the most
delicious food from others and lie that it is necessary. The situation was the same in the communist
system of the USSR: people thought that everyone was equal, and the members of the party ate more
delicious food, had an opportunity to buy exquisite clothes, drank any alcohol beverages they wished,
and had many other privileges (Hignett, 2012). Orwell (1945) mentions another huge disadvantage of
the system: Let us make it a point of honor to get in the harvest more quickly than Jones and his men
could do (p. 10). The author means five year plans in the USSR, which seemed like a competition for
all member states, but turned out to be the inconsiderate usage of the environmental resources (The

Thomas Paine s The Age Of Reason
In this contemporary era more people do not identify with God and in turn have become more
skeptical of God. This shift can be seen in Thomas Paine s The Age of Reason; which is an excellent
example of deism. Paine spares no detail on why he does not believe in the Bible and why he does not
believe God is continually working in the world. Jonathan Edwards sermon, A Divine and
Supernatural Light, on the other hand, adamantly believes in the Bible and that God is actively present
in the world. Edwards s provides an excellent example of Christianity. These two authors create a
snapshot of the prevailing, in Edwards s case, and emerging, in Paine s case, worldviews of their
respective era. Thomas Paine s The Age of Reason cites contextual reasons for not believing the Bible;
while Jonathan Edwards sermon, A Divine and Supernatural Light, gives divine reasons for believing
the Bible. Thomas Paine s The Age of Reason, he takes issue with what the Bible calls revelations
(aka special revelations). He gives revelations the definition of, when pertaining to religion, as the
something communicated immediately from God to man (510) . Thus, when a revelation is given from
God to man and is then passed on from one person to the next. Paine considers this not to be a true
revelation, because he believes a revelation only to that person and to no other. If said revelation were
to be applied to others, it would, according to Paine, be hearsay. Because of this Paine believes that

Emotional Development Stages of Childhood Essay
Emotional development ages birth to five Emotional development of infant Children grow, and
develop at different rates, however most pass through developmental milestones during a predictable
period, in order to move forward with developmental stages. Starting from birth babies are learning
who they are everyday through interactions with others. From birth until death the interactions a
person has with others can affect permanent everyday behaviors. Babies learn through love and
guidance. Loving relationships give infants and young children a sense of comfort, safety, confidence,
and encouragement. (Benorach, MD, 11). Thus help children develop trust, empathy, compassion, and
a sense of right and wrong. Newborns are completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this period, a baby will only want his/her parent figure to take care of their needs and is more
hesitant around strangers. By nine months fear is fully formed, and is in response to something,
someone, or certain situations. (Berger, 2013). Between twelve and twenty four months a child is able
to point and name pictures in book or body parts. He/ she should have a vocabulary of at least fifty
words, and by twenty four months be able to make simple two to three word sentences. By age 3, a
quarter of his/her speech should be clear. At eighteen months anger will become less frequent and
more focused on a certain person, or situation. Laughing and crying will become louder and more
discriminating, and temper tantrums may appear. (Berger, 2013). New emotions that will develop
during this stage are pride, shame, embarrassment, guilt and self awareness. Social awareness in
toddlers is the recognition of one s own body, mind and actions, separate from others. Emotional
development of toddler At age three a child should begin to become their own person, and will
develop a sense of humor, receiving immediate gratification from making others laugh. By this time
children begin to show interest in other children, and will like playing with others. Children at this age

Computers And Its Impact On The Workplace
According to the U.S. Census Forty four million households, or 42 percent, had at least one member
who used the Internet at home in the 2000. Today, no doubt, even more family members in the United
States use computers. Most people are aware of the desktop computers which can be found in the
home and in the workplace. What are the different types of computers and what are their purposes?
Computers can be classified into three different categories of home computers, portable computers,
and business computers including workstations and super computers. First, what is a computer? While
the term computer can apply to virtually any device that has a microprocessor in it, most people think
of a computer as a device that receives input from the user through a mouse or keyboard, processes it
in some fashion and displays the result on a screen. Home computers are being used by children,
teenagers, and adults. The PC or personal computer is designed to be used by one person. The term,
Mac, is a PC, but most people link computers with Windows software such as Windows 98, Windows
2000, or Windows XP. A PC is actually a desktop that is designed to be used in one set location. Most
desktops offer more power, storage, and versatility for less than their portable brethren. Many desktop
computers are used at home and at work. Various types of software have been designed to meet
individual needs of the computer user. The use of home computers or PCs can be for various purposes

Why Do Mammals Increase Surface Area
All organisms require a large surface area in their gas exchange system, having a larger surface area to
volume ratio increases the efficiency on gas exchange. Each of the 3 organisms, diving mammal, fish
and aquatic insects all have a large surface area and have different ways of increasing this. Diving
mammals increase their surface area by folding the tissue on the alveoli of the gas exchange
mechanism fold back on itself, these fold in the alveoli increase the surface area. Fish have filaments
and lamellae in the gills which are very long and thing increasing the surface area to volume ratio. The
filaments in the gills fold copious times and then the lamellae found inside the filaments also found
numerous times increasing the surface area

The Influence and the Role of the Jewish Community in Ancient and Contemporary Turkey
Antiquity
A Jewish community has existed in the land that is modern day Turkey for many centuries. In fact,
many important figures of the Old Testament lived in Turkey during at least part of their lives.
Abraham was born in Ur of Chaldea, according to the Old Testament, which is believed to be the
Turkish city Sanhurfa (located close to the Euphrates River) (G 3). It is also believed that Abraham
lived in Harran in the 18th century BC. Jacob sought refuge in Turkey when he was escaping from his
brother Esau and his well is still found there today. Noah and his family ran aground on Mount Ararat
(Agri Dag), which is located in eastern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Greeks encouraged the Jews to migrate from Palestine. Estimates exist that would number the
Jews living in Asia Minor during the second century CE at one million (Burke 3).
Jewish Communities under the Ottoman Empire
The Ottomans and the Jews have a historically been seen as living in harmony and welcoming of each
other. The Ottomans captured Bursa in 1324 relieving the Jewish community there from centuries of
Byzantine rule in which they had been persecuted (Jewish Communities 1). The Ottomans became
known for welcoming persecuted Jews from Christendom. Sultan Orhan even gave the Jews
permission to build the Etz ha Hayyim synagogue. In 1492, Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand placed
an edict on all Jews either forcing them to convert or die. Approximately 150,00 of these Sephardim
Jews escaped (Burke 2). Other groups of Jews from Europe migrated to Europe in the face of
persecution. In 1477, there were 1,647 Jewish households in Istanbul. By 1527, there were 8,070
Jewish houses in Istanbul (Guleryuz 3).
These massive immigrations were brought about by a generous and willing Ottoman sultanate. The
Jews received land, tax exemptions, and other assistance from the Ottoman government. The Sultan at
the time, Sultan Beyazid II, recognized the value of having an increasingly educated labor force. He
has been quoted as saying that, The Catholic monarch Ferdinand was wrongly considered as wise
since he impoverished his country with the

buyers. Another example, Steve Jobs is a creative and innovation entrepreneur. The personal computer
industry itself began as an Apple wingding when the Cupertino, California based company introduced
the Apple II in 1977. Ever since, Apple has played the role of generous host, spicing up the festivities
with one tasty offering after another. Following the PC, Apple served up many of the features that
computer users have since come to take for granted, including the graphical user interface, the mouse,
the laser printer, and the color monitor. Yet Apple has been forced to watch the celebrations from out
in the alley, its nose pressed longingly to the window as others feast: Today, more than a quarter
century after its founding, it commands just 2% of the $180 billion worldwide market for PCs. Almost
everyone agrees that Apple s products are not only trailblazers but also easier to use, often more
powerful, and always more elegant than those of its rivals. Yet those rivals have followed its creative
leads and snatched for themselves the profits and scale that continually elude Apple s grasp. Persistent

We Are Seven
This poem, we are seven, tells the story of a man talking to a young girl about her family and how
many siblings she has. Even though two of her siblings are dead, and only four are alive, she insists
that she and her brothers and sisters are seven in total. The man, however, thinks that they are only
five. He thinks that the dead siblings don t count and that she should only count the family members
that are physically there. Throughout the writing and the dialogue in this poem, we can clearly
understand that the little girl and the man think about death entirely differently. The girl believes that
when people die, they are still apart of the family and life that they once lived and then left behind.
She thinks that although her siblings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these 2 specific stanzas I think there is a lot of interesting imagery that really shines through and it
also shows the extreme difference in the way the girl thinks about death and the way the man thinks
about death. The girl speaks of her siblings as if they are still with her. The little girl says that she
dwells near them with my mother at their cottage. She is explaining her sibling s state in a more matter
of fact language. That she does this and that she is with them. Also in this part of the poem, the little
girl describes heir burial with the word dwell which suggests sleeping rather than actually being dead.
The little girl also uses imagery to explain the reality of her two deceased siblings. She tells the man,
their graves are green. This detail of color imagery makes it more real to the girl. By sharing this detail
it shows that these graves mean something to her, they are not just where her siblings lie dead but
where they are currently residing. She also mentions to the man the activities she does when she is
with them: knitting, sewing, eating and playing. By saying that she does these activities with them, it
really shows how she thinks of her siblings continuing to be with

Profile Based Personalized Web Search
We suggest a Profile based personalized web search framework UPS (User customizable Privacy
preserving Search), for each query ac cording to user specified privacy requirements profile is
generated. For hierarchical user pro file we trust two conflicting metrics, namely personalization
utility and privacy risk, with its NP hardness proved we formulate the problem of Profile based
personalized search as Risk Profile Generalization.
With the help of two greedy algorithms, namely GreedyIL and GreedyDP, we generate the expected
search result, greedy algorithms support runtime profiling. While the former tries to maximize the
discriminating power (DP), the latter attempts to minimize the in formation loss (IL). By exploiting a
number of heuristics, GreedyIL outperforms GreedyDP significantly.
For the client to decide whether to personalize a query in UPS we provide an inexpensive mechanism.
Before each runtime profiling this decision can be made to improve the stability of the search results
while avoid the needless exposure of the profile.
3.1 System Architecture :
Indeed, the privacy concern is one of the main barriers is how to attain personalized search though
preserving users privacy and deploying serious personalized search applica tions. Hence we propose a
client side profile based personalization which deals with the preserving privacy and envision possible
fu ture strategies to fully protect user privacy. For

Monumento a la Memoria y la Verdad, San Salvador

Monument:
Monumento a la Memoria y a la Verdad. 6 Dec. 2003. Black Granite. San Salvador, El Salvador. Sept.
2004.
This monument was created in order to commemorate the civilians lives lost during the Salvadoran
Civil War. The monument was made to resemble the Vietnam Memorial; it is made of black granite
and has in scripted the names of the war victims. However, the monument only has in scripted the
names of 30,000 of the 75,000 war victims. The names are organized in alphabetical order. It is 85 feet
long and 15 feet tall. The monument also has the name of the massacres that took place during the war
such as La Masacre del Izote in which an entire town was burned down and 10,000 civilians were
killed. The project begun in 1994 and it was finished in 2003. The monument was made to pay the
government s moral debt to the population, as stated by the current president of El Salvador. It is
meant to be a symbol of memory and reconciliation. However, the reconciliation aspect of it can be
debatable because it requires the forgiveness for all the lives that were lost during the war and the
horrific circumstances citizens were subject to. The question whether or not the goal of the monument
was met is challenged by forgiving means forgetting paradox.

Pennies made before 1982 and the pennies that were made after them create a significant difference.
Pennies made before 1982 are made of copper (Warnick 1). Due to the change of the of the metals
over the time period it must of caused a change in the pennies mass. Therefore, the density of pennies
created before 1982 and the pennies produced today have different densities. Density can also be used
to identify unknown substances Density is defined as the ratio of mass to volume (Lab: A Penny For

For example, how to physically find the density of an object by finding their mass with a balance and
finding the object s volume using the method water displacement. The purpose of the experiment was
to find out which metal is used to create post 1982 pennies. Pre 1982 pennies were made out of copper
but then the metal used for making pennies changed. The metal used to create pre 1982 pennies was
copper. Since the metal used to make pennies changed the density of post 1982 changed. The
predicted density was believed to have something close to the metal zinc. Which will show that the
post 1982 pennies are made out of zinc. During the experiment, the mass of the post 1982 pennies
were found using an electric balance and the volume was found by water displacement. The pennies
mass and volumes were recorded. After the recordings of five trials the densities was found of those
each trials. After conducting the experiment by trying to find the density of the post 1982 pennies. The
average density found after doing the experiment was 7.042 g/mL. The density of zinc is 7.13 g/mL.
However, errors may have occurred tampering the density that was discovered. For example, reading
the water measurement slightly wrong when using water displacement to find the volume of the
pennies or not placing the pennies correctly in the cylinder which could create air pockets .Due to the

Laurie Halse Anderson s Speak Book Analysis
Melinda Sordino is raped weeks before her freshman year, but nobody knows. Coming from a
struggling family and friends that ignore her, Melinda has no one to tell. As her grades fall and her self
esteem with it, she must choose to speak up against her rapist when he tries to take advantage of her
again. In Laurie Halse Anderson s Speak, the uses of the author s life, the events that show the time
period, and the philosophy of speaking up all contribute to why she wrote the novel. Laurie Halse
Anderson faced many struggles as a young adult and shares her battles through the endeavors of the
main characters in her books. From the beginning, Anderson wasn t the best student, spending much
of her time daydreaming in the back row (Lew 11). Anderson started school as any other student.
Good grades came easy and she was liked by her peers. Anderson also had a vivid imagination; she
would imagine stories in her mind during random times of the day (Lew 11). Anderson also attended
Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, New York for a two year associate s degree and then
graduated from Georgetown with a bachelor s in language and linguistics (Lew 18). She has always

As for her adolescent struggles, she highly suggests seeing a therapist or a trusted adult for advice

why she wrote the book. Melinda s life closely resembled Laurie Halse Anderson s, and the author has

The Principles Of Knowledge Management Principles
Knowledge Management Principles
The twelve Knowledge Management Principles are aimed at leading individuals to apply key Army
principles to their decisions and incorporate them into the actions that they undertake. Out of these
twelve principles, the two that appear to be the most critical would be the first and third principles,
which apply to the training of leaders, managers, and champions on knowledge management
principles and creating an environment in which collaboration can occur on the basis of knowledge
management.
First Principle
The first principle that is associated with Knowledge Management is that of training leaders,
champions, and managers on being able to incorporate these principles into their actions and decision
making. This principle essentially allows the U.S. Army to frame logistics [and other types of]
knowledge holistically (Paparone, 2008, p. 39). The knowledge regarding how to manage actual
knowledge and information needs to begin somewhere, and education and training appear to be the
best place to start in order to create a sound foundation for this knowledge to be build up and
constructed further. Proper and sufficient education and knowledge also allows the organization to
ensure that all staff members, based on their rank and level within the organization, have the needed
knowledge to carry out their assigned tasks and responsibilities, without any obstacles.
This principle is critical for enabling Senior Warrant Staff Officers to perform

Fahrenheit 451 And 1984
Several conflicting frames of mind have played defining roles in shaping humanity throughout the
twentieth century. Philosophical optimism of a bright future held by humanity in general was taken
advantage of by the promise of a better life through sacrifice of individuality to the state. In the books
Brave New World, 1984, and Fahrenheit 451 clear opposition to these subtle entrapments was voiced
in similarly convincing ways. They first all established, to varying degrees of balance, the atmosphere
and seductiveness of the utopia and the fear of the consequences of acting in the non prescribed way
through character development. A single character is alienated because of their inability to conform
often in protest to the forced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When these and other questions weigh upon his mind he begins to realize that something is
fundamentally wrong with the world he is living in. In Brave New World the main character, Bernard,
is set apart from society by physical differences, which, in a society of engineered people is extremely
inhibiting. It is these defects which cause him to look for a deeper meaning than the drug induced
happiness forced upon him. These characters, although alienated in the novels, are believable and
rational. The acts of their questioning in their search for the truth and real emotion persuade the reader
to do the same thing. It is in this manner that the utility of these novels becomes apparent; through the
demands they make of the reader personally a superior social commentary, one that demands
interaction, is born.
The characters struggles to hide their newly found individuality is a futile one. In Orwell s
interpretation of the totalitarian state of 1984, the society is technically and urbanly engineered to spy
on and perceive people s very thoughts. The society justifies these invasions by eliminating the
importance of the individual. The constant barrage of information regarding the greatness of the state
and Big Brother s supremacy over the common man forces everyone (in good mental health) to accept
these as the only unchanging facts. Any deviation from these beliefs would be immediately noticeable,

The title of the book, A Separate Peace is completely relevant to the story of the two boys Gene and
Phineas and their relationship. The title shows how the boys put themselves in completely different
realities, a separate peace. This first occurs when Gene manages to push Phineas out of the tree
causing him to shatter one of his legs. Phineas refuses to believe Gene, his best friend would
purposely hurt him. I don t know, I must have just lost my balance. It must have been that. I did have
this idea, this feeling that when you were standing there beside me, yー I don t know, I had a kind of
feeling (Knowles 66). This quote shows that Phineas has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both Gene and Phineas are confronted with the truth when Leper tells of what he saw on that frightful
day. He compares what he saw to an engine. I can t think of the name of the engine. But it has two
pistons. What is that engine? Well anyway, in this engine first one piston sinks, and then the next one
sinks. The one holding on to the trunk sank for a second, up and down like a psi on, and then the other
one sank and fell (Knowles 176). Phineas is finally confronted with the truth behind the incident and
that his best friend did in fact make him fall off the tree. Phineas is so overwhelmed after hearing this,
he falls down the stairs, which ends up being fatal. Then these separate sounds collided into the
general tumult of his body falling clumsily down the white marble stairs (Knowles 177). After the
death of Phineas, Gene attains ultimate peace and peace of mind as he gets older and understands
Phineas nonviolent nature. Only Phineas never was afraid, only Phineas never hated anyone (Knowles
204). After the death, Phineas himself also attains peace, with his heart at peace with Gene. Gene feels
very alone without Phineas. He no longer has his best friend and separate

Dear Shakespearian Partisan Theatre Company Analysis
Dear Shakespearian Partisan Theatre Company, Tis the season of war, heroism, and honor for the
country of England and its King. This will come at a cost; the cost of thousands of innocent lives.
However, who s the one responsible for all the bloodshed of the thousands of citizens slaughtered in
another country? It would be an honor to carry out Shakespeare s initial ideas to its full capacity, but I
cannot fulfill this deed without the support from your company. With your money, cast, and audience;
there is no doubt that anyone will exit the building without an enlightening experience. So, picture
this: its 1961, the African colonies are declaring independence from their mother countries. This time

the citizens of some of these countries have no voice. Therefor we should begin our tour in the heart of
Africa: the Congo, then spread to the other countries of Africa and expand to the rest of the world. In
my mind, I would like to create a parallel between the dictators and Henry and exhibit the high
diversity of the English by contrasting theirs with the Congolese societies. However, the spotlight is

Definition Of Poverty
There are a number of definitions of poverty. It is a multifaceted notion which includes social,
economic, and political components. How we define poverty is critical to politics, policy and
academic debates about the concept. It is bound up with explanations and has implications for
solutions. (Lister, 2004 as cited in Class notes, 2017). The United Nations, first established in 1945
shortly after the second world war, was created to promote international co operation and maintain
international order (UN, 2017). The global term for poverty is defined by using the Gross National
Product (GNP) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Both defined by the World Bank, GNP uses
market valuations to measure national income: GNP per capita (each person) gives an indication of the
typical material living standards of a nation, whereas, GDP is a measure of the total market value of
goods and services output and their economic activity. The United Nations set the bar at the minimum
daily income of $1.25 (93 pence) per day (Class notes, 2017). If you are living on less than this you
are classed as living in absolute poverty. How poverty is measured is a contested concept and has had
researchers long trying to establish a fixed method of determining. The four main concepts are
absolute poverty, relative poverty and deprivation, consensual poverty, and social exclusion (Class
notes, 2017). The concept of absolute poverty was developed in the 19th century by Joseph Rowntree
and was

Compare Mississippi Burning And American History X
Mississippi Burning and American History X explore the idea of racism in both films through the use
of cinematic techniques. Both films were set in different times and places however still enhance the
idea that a particular race is superior in comparison to another. These films highlight how racism has
existed through the progression of human history in different settings; Mississippi Burning set in
Mississippi whereas American History in Los Angeles. Mississippi Burning (1988), directed by Alan
Parker is a fictional film which explores racism influenced by the murders of the three civil rights
workers committed by the Ku Klux Klan (KKK). American History X (1998) directed by Tony Kaye
highlights the societal racial issues during the late 90s and shows the influence of racial hate within a
young group of youth and the effect of white supremacy gangs within a certain area of location.
Although both films portray the underlying message of a hatred and violent nature towards the blacks,
the alteration of the characters attitude and perceptions towards a particular race are changed. Both
films explore the theme of racial segregation, actions fueled by racial discrimination and abuse of
power. This is highlighted through the techniques of colour and flashback, characterisation and camera
shots and angles.

Narrative Essay On Coptic Americans
As we pulled into 145 Oak Street, Natick, MA on Christmas Eve 2011, instead of being greeted by
fellow church parishioners, we were greeted by armored soldiers equipped with M4 Carbine assault
rifles. Instead of Honda Odysseys and Ford Focuses filling the adjacent parking lot, a giant tank
loomed over the empty spots. I was only twelve and was very confused. I had never experienced such
trouble simply going to church any other Sunday. What made this time so different? Now, flashback
almost two weeks. Since the Coptic calendar is arranged to celebrate Christmas on January 7, this
would be around the time of Western Christmas. Tensions in Egypt were on the rise, and the Coptic
community could sense that something was going to happen. Unfortunately, something did. On New
Year s Eve 2011, twenty three Coptic Orthodox Christians were killed in an attack on a church in
Alexandria and a hundred more were injured. Despite the attack taking place over five thousand miles

Years of persecution have seen babies snatched from their mothers and churches burned to the ground
before the eyes of those who worshiped there just last Sunday. Yet the Coptic community remains
united and stronger than ever. I never truly realized the potential power of this strength until I
witnessed it first hand. In an effort to learn more about my Coptic origins, I set out on my own
personal journey. When I went to Egypt this past summer, I found the stories of the Coptic people
painted on the walls of the ancient churches. These walls had been scratched, shot at, burned, and
defaced throughout years of Christian persecution, but they still stood tall. These murals have survived
the test of time because they hold the stories of those whose strength transcended the body. Their

Language Development in Preschool Children
Language Development In Preschool Children
Jamie Lisowski
ECE 315
Professor Radkowski
January 30, 2012
Language development and literacy is at the forefront of early childhood education. Parents are being
encouraged to read more to their children now more than ever. Early experiences with language are
the foundation for success in later school years. This is why it is important to infuse language in every
way in the classroom. The infant, toddler, and preschool years are viewed as the point where children
take their first critical steps toward learning to read and write (National Association for the Education
of Young Children [NAEYC], 1998, p. 32) The following is a look into language development of three
and four year old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory states that children s understanding of the environment comes through immediate direct
(sensory) experiences and motor activities (Otto, 2010, p. 30). It supports the idea of active, hands on
learning. Piaget also placed emphasis on the concept of object permanence (the awareness that an
object remains even though it is removed from sight) and believed it was a precursor to language
development (Otto, 2010).
There are four strategies that encourage language development: questioning, linguistic scaffolding,
mediation, and conflict resolution. These strategies are especially useful in the three to four year old
age range because language is just beginning to develop in complexity. Children of this age require
teacher modeling in order to appropriately learn to interact with their environment and to be socially
successful.
Questioning is a strategy that seems rather easy. In reality, it can be more complicated than it seems.
Questioning can occur in many situations and can be formal or informal. When reading a story, it is
important to have questions ready on hand so that focus remains on the lesson being taught. It is easy
to stray from the main idea. For this age range, it is important to ask questions during the story as well
as at the end. This keeps children actively involved in the process and also allows the teacher to gauge
children s comprehension.
Types of questions are also important. For this age group the focus

In December 2015, the President accepted an offer from People s Republic of China (PRC) of military

counterterrorism efforts in Africa. Given that Rwanda ranks fifth in the world, among United Nations
PKO troop contributing countries, and also engaged in counterterrorism efforts in the world, Rwanda
will inevitably benefit from this Chinese assistance package. Therefore, on 22 November 2017, the

Another important factor is that terrorist acts, violent extremism, and radicalization are active in the
region and pose a serious threat. These two endeavors, PKO and counterterrorism require a lot of
resources and commitment. So Rwanda maintains a commitment to the world s peace and security by
contributing peacekeepers to both United Nations (UN) and African union (AU), and to combat
terrorism in the region. However, to maintain the contribution of troops in terms of quantity and
quality in PKO and combating terrorism require significant financial resources that Rwanda does not
have. It is this background, the president accepted the Chinese assistance package to support PKO
commitment and counterterrorism efforts within the region and in the world. However, the assistance
offer should not compromise our national interests: sovereignty, peace and security, as well as national
unity and dignity, values and freedoms, and Rwanda relationship with the United States of America
and European Union countries. Secondly, China s assistance should adhere to Rwanda s Aid Policy
principles stated in Rwanda Aid Policy 2006 document, which align with national priorities, enhance
country ownership, and allow for mutual accountability. Rwanda s objective is to get assistance to
support PKO and counter terrorism efforts. However, the assistance should not recede Rwanda s Aid

To analyze disparate impact, it requires to compare the availability of protected classes (the proportion
of the qualified and available workforce who are members of protected classes) to the utilization of
protected classes (the proportion of those employed who are members of protected classes) for each
job in the organization.
In the flow analysis presented, and the chart below, data from the organization s hiring practices and
applicant pool are used to compare how many individuals were hired from various groups in the
applicant pool.
Selection ratios and the 4/5 rule
This method to assess disparate impact is to compare the proportion of applicants who are hired from
several sources.
The rule states that if the organization s utilization rate of minority group is below fourth fifth (0.8) of
the utilization rate of a majority group, disparate impact may exist.
In our case, there are both external and internal applicants for the positions listed:
A. Store Associate:
a) We have only external candidates for this position. The applicant versus selection ratio is 20.87%
Whites, 21.90% Non Whites, and 22.73% African American. Comparing the minority selection ratio
to the majority selection ratio, more than 80.00% are hired, so there is no sign of disparate impact.
B. Shift Leader:
a) External hires: there is a percentage of 57.58% for Non White, and 69.67% for African American,
both below the 80.00% required by the

My Vision At Centipede Soccer
Overview
My vision this summer came alive with the help of the Kokomo YMCA, when I was granted the
opportunity to coach Centipede Soccer. Centipede Soccer is the perfect introduction to the game of
soccer for children of the ages 3 5. The mission of this program is that the children will learn the
fundamentals of the game in a non competitive atmosphere, while working on motor skills,
coordination and listening skills. The benefits of the Y s youth sports programs for the little ones are
big both on and off the field. My role as the coach was to find fun ways to make this a great first time

activities fun and easy to understand, but to also think about safety and the well being of all my

was key to do to ensure they were all protected with the right shoes and shin guards. While watching
the first few practices and games, it was becoming clear to see which areas needed the most amount of
work on and picking up on these things are vital to plan creative drills that will improve each skill. All
of my hard work with planning the lessons for the day to creating a positive environment for the

Essay on The Three Major Crime Reporting Systems
Uniform Crime reports, National Incident Based Reporting System and the National Crime Reporting
Survey are all major crime reporting systems here in the U.S. Each crime reporting system has its own
advantage and disadvantage towards the criminals and victims as well as the law enforcement
involved. Each has a unique history on how it started and when, how it became as popular of a system
as it is now and will it keep growing or will it one day start to fade into the background while other
reporting systems take its place. Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) include official information about

(U.S. Department of Justice) The National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) has the same
base idea as the UCR, the biggest difference is that the NIBRS is more updated and accurate, as well
as it provides a lot more detail in its reporting than the UCR. For example the number of offenses
made by one person are not limited when reporting and collecting data. Detail on each and every
crime is reported, as well as the report making note of the difference of attempting and completing
crimes. Not only can citizens still locate and identify crimes made in a certain neighborhood or area
but they can also get accurate specific detail on the criminal events. One of the only disadvantages of
NIBRS is that the statistics in the reports will not be completely current because there are some
criminal events that will not get submitted until the next month, so some of the accurate information is
a month delayed. (U.S. Department of Justice) The National Crime victimization Survey (NCVS)
collects personal and household criminal data by a consistent ongoing survey. This program is useful
for showing how many crimes happened that may have not have been reported to the police. Victims
and criminals are a lot more likely to admit to a survey of criminal events that happened rather than to
the police themselves. Unlike UCR and NIBRS, NCVS does not include detailed information nor does
it provide any specific

Similarities Between Rome And Greece
Ancient civilizations are perhaps one of the most fascinating topics one could research, and of the
numerous civilizations that have sprung up over the years, perhaps none are more fascinating than that
of Ancient Greece and Rome. Greece and Rome emerged from Europe, in around the same place.
They are both similar and different, and are some of the greatest civilizations that have ever existed.
Religion is one of the defining aspects of pre modern era, and in none more evident than ancient
Greece and rome. Both Greece and Rome had different beliefs and rituals. In ancient Greece, one of
their most important beliefs was that the gods existed, they could influence human affairs, and they
welcomed and responded to acts of piety and worship (Cartwright 1). The fact that religion was a
major part in their day to day lives was also evident in their plethora of temples scattered across the
southern Balkan Peninsula, some of the most notable being the Temple of Artemis, the Erechtheion,
the Temple of Zeus, and the Parthenon. Ancient Greeks sacrificed animals and burnt offerings to
appease the gods, and called upon them in time of war. Romans were also polytheistic, adopting many
of the gods of Greece and other nearby civilizations (Wasson 1). Even though Rome adopted some of
the Greek gods, they still remained two different religions. Roman religion was far more strict than
Greek religion. In Rome, obeying a strict set of rituals was far more important than your individual

An Artificial Object Into Space During World War II
From a historical standpoint, the space travel that Americans know today arrived when German
scientists took the first effort toward sending an artificial object into space during World War II. In
1942, Germany accomplished its launching of the V 2 rocket, the first manmade rocket sent into space
(Schombert). Of course, the Soviet Union followed suit, historians writing down the name Sputnik in
history texts to describe the country s first successful, unmanned orbital launch, completed on October
4, 1957 (Schombert). Before the world could recover from the technological whiplash, the race to the

These dangerous endeavors lurk in a new unknown, and the journey to it is rife with explosive
mishaps literally.
Statistically, space travel is too worrisome and dangerous for private industries to maintain. Rather, of
the 536 people who have travelled into space, 3.4 percent, or 18 astronauts, have died during missions
(Silver 1). While this number may appear statistically insignificant, these sets of fatalities do not
consider the overall risk potential, and the many other lives taken from astronaut training and non
astronaut deaths that resulted from spaceflight related activities. In 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger
exploded 73 seconds into its flight, killing its entire crew. Many years later, the shuttle Columbia
experienced a disastrous event on February 1, 2003, when the shuttle disintegrated over Texas and
Louisiana upon reentrance of the mesosphere, killing another team. Now, Emery reports in his article
that privately contributed space exploration continues this deadly trend, stating, The crash of the
SpaceShipTwo was the second catastrophe in a gloomy week for the commercial space industry. On
Tuesday, an unmanned Antares rocket exploded over Wallops Island, in Virginia. As illustrated, the
frequent rate of failure with unmanned missions government or privately ran begs that, if any, the

Asian carmakers, such as Toyota, also accepted the agreement, with one more year to achieve it. This
criterion can be met especially by developing hybrid engines or reducing the fuel consumption, which
is a fantastic opportunity for the segment of mini cars whose small engines consume less. Economical
Economic uncertainty, high unemployment rate (8.9% in March 2005), and increasing fuel price
characterized the European economic environment. Therefore a gain in volume of mini cars sells is
likely to occur, as these cars are cheaper. Moreover, emerging markets are booming and eager to
possess Western cars. Social There is a growing concern about ecological issues among countries of
the European Union, which may have an impact on the car customers. Moreover, because of poor
economic conditions, customers increasingly pay attention to their purchasing power and to their
consumption level. This is especially true for the car sector where fuel prices skyrocket. Technology
The hybrid new technology becomes a crucial asset to satisfy both the ecological concern and the
performance expectations in the car industry. GLOBAL FACTORS Fuel prices increase worldwide so
that car industry may face a slowing down growth in every

The Importance Of Chromosomes
nuclear transfer. But, even after days, the follicles didn t develop. The exact reason is unknown but
they assumed it to be either because of the DNA or nucleus condition or incompatibility between
mouse oocyte and mammoth nucleus.
Then again let us assume that we find an intact nucleus having a proper DNA inside it, there are still
many obstacles to overcome. One being lack of enough knowledge and information about the number
of chromosomes that mammoths possessed. Moreover, Y chromosome in a mammal is typically very
small and repetitive, therefore, making it hard to sort it out. But, the solution can be sequencing only
the female species. Also, determining the exact sequence of other regions including centromere is
almost impossible. So, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the experiment, they took frozen samples of ovarian tissue from African elephants and
transplanted it into mice. After several days they observed mature follicles develop inside the ovary of
the mice. This showed that it was indeed possible to transplant tissues from ovaries of one animal to
another (Henry, 2008).
Another is to transfer the mammoth nucleus, for this, it is first necessary to remove the elephant s
nucleus. Another important component beside nucleus is the mitochondria and it has to be compatible
with each other. Even though mammoths and elephants are closely related, there s still a risk. So, the
solution that the researchers proposed was to replace the elephant s mitochondria with synthetic ones
and this is indeed plausible because mammoth s mitochondria have already been sequenced. While
doing this it is also necessary to make sure that there aren t any remains of elephant s mitochondria
left inside the cell which might fuse with the newer one.
Finally, the last step is to transfer the fertilized egg to a suitable surrogate. The main concern here is
whether the surrogate is suitable to harbor the mammoth fetus but evidence gained form preserved
mammoths have found that size is not a problem since they are similar in terms of size and height
(Henry, 2008).
All the steps are just a possibility because when an organism dies, DNA decay starts almost
immediately. So, the samples

Communication Styles Between Men And Women
Today, divorce has become an extremely common and a better understanding on how to maintain a
healthy and happy marriage is critical. Unsuccessful communication plays a vital role in the failure of
many marriages and relationships. Communication is key in all relationships and can lead to the
success or failure of a marriage, depending on how the couple interacts. This effectiveness of
communication is connected to the overall satisfaction of married couples. Learning more about the
differences in communication styles between men and women will aid in the successful sending and
receiving of messages, both verbal and nonverbal. For example, a woman might communicate in a
way that has significant meaning to her. Though, the man receiving the message may translate it
differently than the way she intended. The misunderstanding is because of the difference in
communication style between the husband and the wife and can cause conflict and lead to future
problems in the relationship. However, if the man interpreting the message were familiar with his wife
s way of communication, he may have understood and avoided a conflict situation. Becoming more
aware of how one s own self communicates will also aid in healthier communication between spouses.
This literature review will discuss methods, limitations, and results associated with nonverbal
communication styles, conflict because of communication, and communicated perspective taking
within relationships.

Comparing Galileo And John Calvin s Institutes Of...
In the text of Galileo Galilei and Francis Bacon, it s plain to see that the main idea of the two pieces
would be the separation of faith and science. From reading John Calvin s Institutes of Christian
Religion there is a huge parallel of Calvin and both Bacon and Galileo s works. Calvin s fundamental
idea of scripture being authority and predestination, it ultimately leads him to two points of
government, being spiritual and the external world. Bacon and Galileo also both highlight two points
as well, significantly being two forms of knowledge, faith and science. I consider science to be apart
of the external world and I believe the two philosophers were able to strike the historical path with this
new perception on life right before the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This previous revolution caused much more controversy than desired, but to finally accept it, it
required a generous amount of open mindedness. This liberality seems to be what Galileo is really
yearning to get out of his Western audience. Essentially, this infamous letter really kicked off the start
of the Scientific Revolution; Galileo proves this by being the first to acknowledge the idea of
questioning the reason of what is inside the bible, something Descartes more than likely looked at as
he was creating his own discourse approximately 20 years later. Although Galileo is still is a Christian
and believes the bible is indeed true, as Galileo reiterates ...the Holy Bible can never speak untruth.
(57), this query seemed to be one that would pop up sooner or later, it just happened to be sooner. To
be clear, this idea to separate faith and science is in fact based off of the foundation of the bible, which
Galileo claims as well in his letter. Galileo even promptly says, nor is God any less excellently
revealed in Nature s actions that in the sacred statements of the Bible. (58) First of all, these ideas and
questions couldn t have been assumed at all without the Nature included in God s Word Himself, and
the realization to divide the two had to have derived from inquiries about unknown logic within the
pair. This separation isn t necessarily a bad thing, it s just unheard of which would give it that negative

  • 2. Advantages Of Communism In Animal Farm Animal Farm: Communism as an Economic System Orwell presents the basic concepts of communism in an interesting and entertaining manner. In fact, the fictional Animalism reduplicates communism. Communism makes people free, but restrains them at the same time; its main idea makes everyone equal, but provides huge privileges for its leaders; and its command economy provides enough food, but deprives people of choice. Animalism and communism are two identical concepts with different names. Orwell s representation of communism as a system is rather specific, and it is similar to the communism in the USSR. First of all, Animalism fights with the existence of slavery. Thus, animals were like slaves on the farm because they had to work hard, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, it is forbidden for one of the animals to wear beautiful ribbons though this animal likes them. By describing this situation, Orwell means the limitations of the planned economy, which is peculiar to communism. When the government controls all spheres of the economy, the competition does not exist (Gowans, 2012). Therefore, governmentally controlled factories create similar clothes for everyone. Another disadvantage of this system is that its leaders claim that everyone is equal, but they have more benefits than others. Pigs are leaders on the farm, and they start to take the most delicious food from others and lie that it is necessary. The situation was the same in the communist system of the USSR: people thought that everyone was equal, and the members of the party ate more delicious food, had an opportunity to buy exquisite clothes, drank any alcohol beverages they wished, and had many other privileges (Hignett, 2012). Orwell (1945) mentions another huge disadvantage of the system: Let us make it a point of honor to get in the harvest more quickly than Jones and his men could do (p. 10). • 3. Thomas Paine s The Age Of Reason In this contemporary era more people do not identify with God and in turn have become more skeptical of God. This shift can be seen in Thomas Paine s The Age of Reason; which is an excellent example of deism. Paine spares no detail on why he does not believe in the Bible and why he does not believe God is continually working in the world. Jonathan Edwards sermon, A Divine and Supernatural Light, on the other hand, adamantly believes in the Bible and that God is actively present in the world. Edwards s provides an excellent example of Christianity. These two authors create a snapshot of the prevailing, in Edwards s case, and emerging, in Paine s case, worldviews of their respective era. Thomas Paine s The Age of Reason cites contextual reasons for not believing the Bible; while Jonathan Edwards sermon, A Divine and Supernatural Light, gives divine reasons for believing the Bible. Thomas Paine s The Age of Reason, he takes issue with what the Bible calls revelations (aka special revelations). He gives revelations the definition of, when pertaining to religion, as the something communicated immediately from God to man (510) . Thus, when a revelation is given from God to man and is then passed on from one person to the next. Paine considers this not to be a true revelation, because he believes a revelation only to that person and to no other. If said revelation were to be applied to others, it would, according to Paine, be hearsay. Because of this Paine believes that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She is explaining her sibling s state in a more matter of fact language. That she does this and that she is with them. Also in this part of the poem, the little girl describes heir burial with the word dwell which suggests sleeping rather than actually being dead. The little girl also uses imagery to explain the reality of her two deceased siblings. She tells the man, their graves are green. This detail of color imagery makes it more real to the girl. By sharing this detail it shows that these graves mean something to her, they are not just where her siblings lie dead but where they are currently residing. Out of these twelve principles, the two that appear to be the most critical would be the first and third principles, which apply to the training of leaders, managers, and champions on knowledge management principles and creating an environment in which collaboration can occur on the basis of knowledge management. First Principle The first principle that is associated with Knowledge Management is that of training leaders, champions, and managers on being able to incorporate these principles into their actions and decision making. This principle essentially allows the U.S. Army to frame logistics [and other types of] knowledge holistically (Paparone, 2008, p. 39). This will come at a cost; the cost of thousands of innocent lives. However, who s the one responsible for all the bloodshed of the thousands of citizens slaughtered in another country? It would be an honor to carry out Shakespeare s initial ideas to its full capacity, but I cannot fulfill this deed without the support from your company. With your money, cast, and audience; there is no doubt that anyone will exit the building without an enlightening experience. • 24. Definition Of Poverty There are a number of definitions of poverty. It is a multifaceted notion which includes social, economic, and political components. How we define poverty is critical to politics, policy and academic debates about the concept. It is bound up with explanations and has implications for solutions. (Lister, 2004 as cited in Class notes, 2017). The United Nations, first established in 1945 shortly after the second world war, was created to promote international co operation and maintain international order (UN, 2017). The global term for poverty is defined by using the Gross National Product (GNP) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Both defined by the World Bank, GNP uses market valuations to measure national income: GNP per capita (each person) gives an indication of the typical material living standards of a nation, whereas, GDP is a measure of the total market value of goods and services output and their economic activity. The United Nations set the bar at the minimum daily income of $1.25 (93 pence) per day (Class notes, 2017). If you are living on less than this you are classed as living in absolute poverty. How poverty is measured is a contested concept and has had researchers long trying to establish a fixed method of determining. The four main concepts are absolute poverty, relative poverty and deprivation, consensual poverty, and social exclusion (Class notes, 2017). The concept of absolute poverty was developed in the 19th century by Joseph Rowntree and was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Narrative Essay On Coptic Americans As we pulled into 145 Oak Street, Natick, MA on Christmas Eve 2011, instead of being greeted by fellow church parishioners, we were greeted by armored soldiers equipped with M4 Carbine assault rifles. When I went to Egypt this past summer, I found the stories of the Coptic people painted on the walls of the ancient churches. These walls had been scratched, shot at, burned, and defaced throughout years of Christian persecution, but they still stood tall. Language Development in Preschool Children Language Development In Preschool Children Jamie Lisowski ECE 315 Professor Radkowski January 30, 2012 Language development and literacy is at the forefront of early childhood education. Parents are being encouraged to read more to their children now more than ever. Early experiences with language are the foundation for success in later school years. This is why it is important to infuse language in every way in the classroom. The infant, toddler, and preschool years are viewed as the point where children take their first critical steps toward learning to read and write (National Association for the Education of Young Children [NAEYC], 1998, p. 32) The following is a look into language development of three and four year old ... This theory states that children s understanding of the environment comes through immediate direct (sensory) experiences and motor activities (Otto, 2010, p. 30). It supports the idea of active, hands on learning. Piaget also placed emphasis on the concept of object permanence (the awareness that an object remains even though it is removed from sight) and believed it was a precursor to language development (Otto, 2010). There are four strategies that encourage language development: questioning, linguistic scaffolding, mediation, and conflict resolution. These strategies are especially useful in the three to four year old age range because language is just beginning to develop in complexity. Children of this age require teacher modeling in order to appropriately learn to interact with their environment and to be socially successful. Questioning is a strategy that seems rather easy. In reality, it can be more complicated than it seems. Questioning can occur in many situations and can be formal or informal. When reading a story, it is important to have questions ready on hand so that focus remains on the lesson being taught. It is easy to stray from the main idea. For this age range, it is important to ask questions during the story as well as at the end. This keeps children actively involved in the process and also allows the teacher to gauge children s comprehension. Types of questions are also important. For this age group the focus ... For example the number of offenses made by one person are not limited when reporting and collecting data. Detail on each and every crime is reported, as well as the report making note of the difference of attempting and completing crimes. Not only can citizens still locate and identify crimes made in a certain neighborhood or area but they can also get accurate specific detail on the criminal events. Another is to transfer the mammoth nucleus, for this, it is first necessary to remove the elephant s nucleus. Another important component beside nucleus is the mitochondria and it has to be compatible with each other. Even though mammoths and elephants are closely related, there s still a risk. So, the solution that the researchers proposed was to replace the elephant s mitochondria with synthetic ones and this is indeed plausible because mammoth s mitochondria have already been sequenced. While doing this it is also necessary to make sure that there aren t any remains of elephant s mitochondria left inside the cell which might fuse with the newer one. Finally, the last step is to transfer the fertilized egg to a suitable surrogate. The main concern here is whether the surrogate is suitable to harbor the mammoth fetus but evidence gained form preserved mammoths have found that size is not a problem since they are similar in terms of size and height (Henry, 2008).
