Q3. What have youlearnt from your audience feedback?
On mywork,I collectedadifferentrange of feedbackfromavarietyof people ondifferent
platforms.Bothqualitativedataandquantitative.The firstone Icollectedwassurvey. 6people filled
out thissurvey andthisisthe
feedback Iwasgiven. The firstquestionIaskedwaswhat isthe genderbecause thenI
couldtell how muchof the populationIaskedwasfemale andmale.
NextafterthisI wantedtosee whatage range theywere inso thenI
couldreferback to the age of the people Iaskedbecause Icannot
generalisethe answersIgotto everyone becausetheywere
predominantlyyounger.
I thenwantedtofindout theiractual thoughtstowardsmywork.So,
inquestion3,I askedmy peerswhatwasthe mostpredominant
theme inthe trailerwhatI got fromthiswas that murderwasa big
elementof mytrailertoa lotof people howeverafew people didsay
that itwas Tough Guy.This iswhatI was tryingto getacross in my
traileras typicallyitisStrongWomenbutI wantedto challenge this
and have the opposite effect.The nextquestionIaskedwashow
well didthe soundtrackworkwiththe trailer.Formostof the
answersitwas a clearyesthat it didwell howeverthere wasone low
mark of a 2 showingthatin theiropinionthatadifferentsoundtrack
wouldof workedbetter.Iwantedarange of answerssothat is
somethingthatmaybe if Iwas to do itagainthat’s whatI would
improve onsothat more people couldthenagree.
So bythis pointIhave alreadyaskedquestionsonthe age of my
peers,theme,andsoundtracksoI thoughtIshouldaskabout the
camera movement.ThismeantthatIcouldhave questions,which
covereda lotof the elementsthatIwantedto broadeninthe trailer.
My resultsforthiswasthat the camera anglesfora lot of people
were average andthenothersnoticedthatthere wasquite a lotof
angles.IdeallyIwantedtogeta broadamount howeverIalso
wantedtokeepinwiththe soap operagenre andbasedon my
research,there were nota broadrange of camera anglesinsoapsI
lookedintolike Hollyoaks,EastendersandCorrie.
Basedon thisquantitative dataIcollected,Ifeel like if Iwastogo
back and dothis againI wouldconcederchangingthe trailer
soundtrackso that itwoulddefinitelysuitmytrailer.Iwouldalso
challenge the cameraanglesmore andtrymore shottypes.
I thoughtit wouldbe a deeperanalysisof myworkif I thencollectedmore
feedback,soIthenwentintocollectingqualitative datafrommore indepth
commentary.ForthisI uploadedmytrailerontosocial mediatogetmore
peoplesopinion.So,Iposted mytrailerontoYouTube and thenI addeditinto
a post I wrote upon Facebook,inthisI wrote questions,whichIwantedthe
commentstoanswer.I got repliesinfullsentences.Inthese repliesIgotwhatI
aimedforas theyall addressedthe questions soIgot feedbackonthe different
elementsof the trailer.Thesequestionswere notthe same tothe survey,I
askedthemto talkabouttheirinitial reaction,whatthemestheycould
identify,whattheythoughtof the use of sound,whattheythoughtof the
camera shottypes,doesthe trailerfeel authentic,whatare the actors like and
howdo theyportraythe character,whethertheythinkthatthe trailerwould
appeal tomy target audience andfinallywoulditachieve successonBBC2.
Readingmyfeedback, Elliementionedhow the trailerlookedrealisticwhichis
goodto hear because thenIknow my researchandmy inspirationsfromthe
real life trailersdidwell. She alsomentionedhow,murdercame throughquite
a lot butalso suggestedhow otherthemessuchasrelationshipsandconflict
were inthere too.She alsosaidabout the use of soundandthat the diabetic
soundcreateda dramatic feel.Thenshe saidthatasa personinthat age group
I’mappealingtoshe thinksthatit woulddowell onBBC 2 because she would
watch itand thinksthatotherpeople of a similarage wouldtoo.
Alternately,Charliesaidall similarthingshowever,regardingthe actors,she
thoughtthat theywere ‘toostaged’andthenfollowingthisshe saidthat
maybe because she’sat the higherendof my targetaudience,itwould
probablyappeal tothe youngerendmore sobecause she wasnot overkeen
on the actors because of the age gap.
Similarly,toEllie, Jade,JessicaandGemmasaid similar.Theyalsothoughtthat
it wasengagingandthe themesandsoundtrackreallydiditjustice.Jade
mentioned how the age groupof the actors were similartothe age group I am
appeal towhichwouldencourage themtowatchit and inevitably enjoyit.
Overall,the feedbackIhave receivedhashelpedme make myownjudgement
on mywork and decide whatare the good elements andwhatcouldbe
improved slightly.

  • 1. Q3. What have youlearnt from your audience feedback? On mywork,I collectedadifferentrange of feedbackfromavarietyof people ondifferent platforms.Bothqualitativedataandquantitative.The firstone Icollectedwassurvey. 6people filled out thissurvey andthisisthe feedback Iwasgiven. The firstquestionIaskedwaswhat isthe genderbecause thenI couldtell how muchof the populationIaskedwasfemale andmale. NextafterthisI wantedtosee whatage range theywere inso thenI couldreferback to the age of the people Iaskedbecause Icannot generalisethe answersIgotto everyone becausetheywere predominantlyyounger. I thenwantedtofindout theiractual thoughtstowardsmywork.So, inquestion3,I askedmy peerswhatwasthe mostpredominant theme inthe trailerwhatI got fromthiswas that murderwasa big elementof mytrailertoa lotof people howeverafew people didsay that itwas Tough Guy.This iswhatI was tryingto getacross in my traileras typicallyitisStrongWomenbutI wantedto challenge this and have the opposite effect.The nextquestionIaskedwashow well didthe soundtrackworkwiththe trailer.Formostof the answersitwas a clearyesthat it didwell howeverthere wasone low mark of a 2 showingthatin theiropinionthatadifferentsoundtrack wouldof workedbetter.Iwantedarange of answerssothat is somethingthatmaybe if Iwas to do itagainthat’s whatI would improve onsothat more people couldthenagree. So bythis pointIhave alreadyaskedquestionsonthe age of my peers,theme,andsoundtracksoI thoughtIshouldaskabout the camera movement.ThismeantthatIcouldhave questions,which covereda lotof the elementsthatIwantedto broadeninthe trailer. My resultsforthiswasthat the camera anglesfora lot of people were average andthenothersnoticedthatthere wasquite a lotof angles.IdeallyIwantedtogeta broadamount howeverIalso wantedtokeepinwiththe soap operagenre andbasedon my research,there were nota broadrange of camera anglesinsoapsI lookedintolike Hollyoaks,EastendersandCorrie. Basedon thisquantitative dataIcollected,Ifeel like if Iwastogo back and dothis againI wouldconcederchangingthe trailer soundtrackso that itwoulddefinitelysuitmytrailer.Iwouldalso challenge the cameraanglesmore andtrymore shottypes.

I thoughtit wouldbe a deeperanalysisof myworkif I thencollectedmore feedback,soIthenwentintocollectingqualitative datafrommore indepth commentary.ForthisI uploadedmytrailerontosocial mediatogetmore peoplesopinion.So,Iposted mytrailerontoYouTube and thenI addeditinto a post I wrote upon Facebook,inthisI wrote questions,whichIwantedthe commentstoanswer.I got repliesinfullsentences.Inthese repliesIgotwhatI aimedforas theyall addressedthe questions soIgot feedbackonthe different elementsof the trailer.Thesequestionswere notthe same tothe survey,I askedthemto talkabouttheirinitial reaction,whatthemestheycould identify,whattheythoughtof the use of sound,whattheythoughtof the camera shottypes,doesthe trailerfeel authentic,whatare the actors like and howdo theyportraythe character,whethertheythinkthatthe trailerwould appeal tomy target audience andfinallywoulditachieve successonBBC2. Readingmyfeedback, Elliementionedhow the trailerlookedrealisticwhichis goodto hear because thenIknow my researchandmy inspirationsfromthe real life trailersdidwell. She alsomentionedhow,murdercame throughquite a lot butalso suggestedhow otherthemessuchasrelationshipsandconflict were inthere too.She alsosaidabout the use of soundandthat the diabetic soundcreateda dramatic feel.Thenshe saidthatasa personinthat age group I’mappealingtoshe thinksthatit woulddowell onBBC 2 because she would watch itand thinksthatotherpeople of a similarage wouldtoo. Alternately,Charliesaidall similarthingshowever,regardingthe actors,she thoughtthat theywere ‘toostaged’andthenfollowingthisshe saidthat maybe because she’sat the higherendof my targetaudience,itwould probablyappeal tothe youngerendmore sobecause she wasnot overkeen on the actors because of the age gap. Similarly,toEllie, Jade,JessicaandGemmasaid similar.Theyalsothoughtthat it wasengagingandthe themesandsoundtrackreallydiditjustice.Jade mentioned how the age groupof the actors were similartothe age group I am appeal towhichwouldencourage themtowatchit and inevitably enjoyit. Overall,the feedbackIhave receivedhashelpedme make myownjudgement on mywork and decide whatare the good elements andwhatcouldbe improved slightly.
