Effectiveness of research. What could have been better?
The research I did was quite a big help. It helped me think of some ideas. I looked
at some existing products that are kind of linked with my film in want to make such
as Panic Room and Enemy Of The State, this was quite effective for me because I
grabbed some of my ideas for my film form these films so the research was
effective for that reason. I also researched some techniques I could use for my film
such as some CCTV effects, This helped me a lot because I need to find out how to
do CCTV effects and the research helped my find the perfect tutorial to help me.
There where some things that u could of done better in my research such as going
in more detail in some of the production techniques. If I went in more detail I could
of found some better techniques and I could of talked a lot more about it. I also
could of gone in more detail for my target audience. I could of found more things
my target audience likes and that would of helped me a lot for the production of
my films and that could if made my film a lot better.
Methods used, missed opportunities?
I used a lot of methods for my production. For example I used a couple of over
the shoulder shots of my main character, I wanted to get him in the shot but
he wasn't the main focus, the main focus of the shot was the computer screen.
Another method I used in my production of my film wasn’t camera techniques,
it was what methods I used to help me with production such as call sheets and
also my script. I kept these close to me so I know where I am in my production
and I can cross shots off after I have done them.
During my research I went through everything methodically for example I
started off looking at relevant films to mine and then looked at my target
audience and so on. A really good method I used in my research was survey
monkey, I used this website to make a survey for people to do to find out a lot
more about my target audience
Final concept?
There is this really paranoid man called Josh Eastham, so he decides to buys
a new surveillance system to make him feel more safe. But there is someone
stalking him and messing with him and also his surveillance system. Josh tries
and hides in his panic room but it is too late, the stalker is in and in is panic
room. The rooms cuts to black and then when the lights come back on the
stalker is there and grabs him. Then it cuts to a news scene where they talk
about the disappearance and Josh Eastham. They say that this is the third
one this week. Then it goes on and say that people are getting paranode and
the sales of the security company third eye is rising.
Planning, what went well…what did not?
Planning went ok for me. I made sure I had everything I need. For me what went
well was talking about what I would do for post because I felt that post
production is my strongest asset so I could talk for days about post so I though I
wrote a fair but of information about post. Also I thought the personnel list
looked really neat and professional.
What didn’t go as well was me talking about location. I could of talked a lot
more about it but I didn't haver enough time to talk about it. I could of done a
lot more illustrations and diagrams but yet again I didn’t have enough time to
do it all. I also could of talked a lot more about finance but that would have been
hard because there wasn’t really much to talk about in finance because we really
didn’t have much money to make our films or any money to make our films
Production, what went well…what did not?
Production for me went quite smooth. I had some good help form my friends Jay
Birkin and Josh Eastham. We stayed to our plan and we actually made a couple
of scenes on the spot like the cellar room scene where he ran into the cellar ton
hide from the stalker/killer. We solved problems calmly such as the weather was
quite cloudy and we needed it be quite bright to shoot a specific scene so we
shot a different scene and later it brightened up so it worked out well.
But we are human so this didn’t go to plan such as the positioning of the camera
for the over the shoulder shot of Josh looking at the computer we took different
shots but they all didn’t work so we had to try and think of something different
to do. There where also some shots we couldn't do because it would work
because of the weather or because the shot was to hard to do.
Post-production, what went well…what did
not?
A lot of things went well during post production. I thought that I edititedf my film quite well. I
tried to edit to my score. Also I thought my score I did was really good. The whole score is
origanal made by me and my music teacher Martin Hewit, it took about 6-8 hours total to make
the score but I think it was worth it because it ended up being really good. I thingk it adds
something to film.
The things that didn’t go well during post production was trying to make my final scene with all
the TVs. It was quite hard to get all the effects alined on the TVs and also the sound effects. I also
had to change the eding multiple times just because eot didn’t really work well together properly
amd it took aages to make just to chuck away. I prob erbly spent a week opn just the ending
which is annoying because I could of spent that on something different
How you dealt with TECHNICAL problems?
I took it calmly. I would look on the internt to see iof I could fix the problem
quitckly. The majority of the time I was able to find out how to fix it but if I
couldn’t find out how to fix it I would ask the person next to me or near me
to help me and if they could help me great, but if they cant I would ask my
teacher. For example when I was adding ajustment layers and adding colours
to it, it would just go black so I tried to look on the internet to help me but I
couldn’t find out how to do it so I asked someone in my class to help and the
girl behind me helped me and it just ended uo being something in the render
settings.
How you dealt with MANAGEMENT problems?
I thought I dealt my management well. I had lots of scrip's and call sheets so I know
where I am in the shoot. It helped me manage my time a lot better because I saw
what I needed to do and I had goals so I could get as much as I could do in that
time frame.
I also have to be able to manage my actors. I needed to make sure that all my
actors where in on time so I kept in touch with them making sure they are on time.
I also need tom make sure that my actors where behaving properly and taking it
serious making sure they kept on script so I could get done as quickly and as good
as possible
How you dealt with EMOTIONAL problems?
During my time doing this I did get quite emotional doing this I did get quite
paniced and stressed out doing it but what really help me through the tough
times was just take little breaks and bjust chill, listen to music and have
something to drink for like 20 minutes and the get back to it. Sometimes that
didn’t work anmd what I did is I just saved my work and went oput and got
sopme fresh air and walked down to the shops and back again and like 90% of
the time it worked
Does your product meet your intentions?
After reflecting over everything I think that in some parts yes my product met
my intention for example my intention was to make a film about a paranoid
person who is getting stalked and I also wanted to have him use his CCTV
cameras I that sense eyes it did turn out how I wanted it to look like. But I did
want to make it look better and some cool scenes and effects in it but it would
have been to hard to do and I would of done it in the time frame. But over all
yes my product did meet my intentions and I am really proud of what I have
made. At first I only wanted to make a trailer and now I have made a full 5
minute shot film. So in some ways I did better than I thought.

Evaluation

  • 2. Effectiveness of research. What could have been better? The research I did was quite a big help. It helped me think of some ideas. I looked at some existing products that are kind of linked with my film in want to make such as Panic Room and Enemy Of The State, this was quite effective for me because I grabbed some of my ideas for my film form these films so the research was effective for that reason. I also researched some techniques I could use for my film such as some CCTV effects, This helped me a lot because I need to find out how to do CCTV effects and the research helped my find the perfect tutorial to help me. There where some things that u could of done better in my research such as going in more detail in some of the production techniques. If I went in more detail I could of found some better techniques and I could of talked a lot more about it. I also could of gone in more detail for my target audience. I could of found more things my target audience likes and that would of helped me a lot for the production of my films and that could if made my film a lot better.
  • 3. Methods used, missed opportunities? I used a lot of methods for my production. For example I used a couple of over the shoulder shots of my main character, I wanted to get him in the shot but he wasn't the main focus, the main focus of the shot was the computer screen. Another method I used in my production of my film wasn’t camera techniques, it was what methods I used to help me with production such as call sheets and also my script. I kept these close to me so I know where I am in my production and I can cross shots off after I have done them. During my research I went through everything methodically for example I started off looking at relevant films to mine and then looked at my target audience and so on. A really good method I used in my research was survey monkey, I used this website to make a survey for people to do to find out a lot more about my target audience
  • 4. Final concept? There is this really paranoid man called Josh Eastham, so he decides to buys a new surveillance system to make him feel more safe. But there is someone stalking him and messing with him and also his surveillance system. Josh tries and hides in his panic room but it is too late, the stalker is in and in is panic room. The rooms cuts to black and then when the lights come back on the stalker is there and grabs him. Then it cuts to a news scene where they talk about the disappearance and Josh Eastham. They say that this is the third one this week. Then it goes on and say that people are getting paranode and the sales of the security company third eye is rising.
  • 5. Planning, what went well…what did not? Planning went ok for me. I made sure I had everything I need. For me what went well was talking about what I would do for post because I felt that post production is my strongest asset so I could talk for days about post so I though I wrote a fair but of information about post. Also I thought the personnel list looked really neat and professional. What didn’t go as well was me talking about location. I could of talked a lot more about it but I didn't haver enough time to talk about it. I could of done a lot more illustrations and diagrams but yet again I didn’t have enough time to do it all. I also could of talked a lot more about finance but that would have been hard because there wasn’t really much to talk about in finance because we really didn’t have much money to make our films or any money to make our films
  • 6. Production, what went well…what did not? Production for me went quite smooth. I had some good help form my friends Jay Birkin and Josh Eastham. We stayed to our plan and we actually made a couple of scenes on the spot like the cellar room scene where he ran into the cellar ton hide from the stalker/killer. We solved problems calmly such as the weather was quite cloudy and we needed it be quite bright to shoot a specific scene so we shot a different scene and later it brightened up so it worked out well. But we are human so this didn’t go to plan such as the positioning of the camera for the over the shoulder shot of Josh looking at the computer we took different shots but they all didn’t work so we had to try and think of something different to do. There where also some shots we couldn't do because it would work because of the weather or because the shot was to hard to do.
  • 7. Post-production, what went well…what did not? A lot of things went well during post production. I thought that I edititedf my film quite well. I tried to edit to my score. Also I thought my score I did was really good. The whole score is origanal made by me and my music teacher Martin Hewit, it took about 6-8 hours total to make the score but I think it was worth it because it ended up being really good. I thingk it adds something to film. The things that didn’t go well during post production was trying to make my final scene with all the TVs. It was quite hard to get all the effects alined on the TVs and also the sound effects. I also had to change the eding multiple times just because eot didn’t really work well together properly amd it took aages to make just to chuck away. I prob erbly spent a week opn just the ending which is annoying because I could of spent that on something different
  • 8. How you dealt with TECHNICAL problems? I took it calmly. I would look on the internt to see iof I could fix the problem quitckly. The majority of the time I was able to find out how to fix it but if I couldn’t find out how to fix it I would ask the person next to me or near me to help me and if they could help me great, but if they cant I would ask my teacher. For example when I was adding ajustment layers and adding colours to it, it would just go black so I tried to look on the internet to help me but I couldn’t find out how to do it so I asked someone in my class to help and the girl behind me helped me and it just ended uo being something in the render settings.
  • 9. How you dealt with MANAGEMENT problems? I thought I dealt my management well. I had lots of scrip's and call sheets so I know where I am in the shoot. It helped me manage my time a lot better because I saw what I needed to do and I had goals so I could get as much as I could do in that time frame. I also have to be able to manage my actors. I needed to make sure that all my actors where in on time so I kept in touch with them making sure they are on time. I also need tom make sure that my actors where behaving properly and taking it serious making sure they kept on script so I could get done as quickly and as good as possible
  • 10. How you dealt with EMOTIONAL problems? During my time doing this I did get quite emotional doing this I did get quite paniced and stressed out doing it but what really help me through the tough times was just take little breaks and bjust chill, listen to music and have something to drink for like 20 minutes and the get back to it. Sometimes that didn’t work anmd what I did is I just saved my work and went oput and got sopme fresh air and walked down to the shops and back again and like 90% of the time it worked
  • 11. Does your product meet your intentions? After reflecting over everything I think that in some parts yes my product met my intention for example my intention was to make a film about a paranoid person who is getting stalked and I also wanted to have him use his CCTV cameras I that sense eyes it did turn out how I wanted it to look like. But I did want to make it look better and some cool scenes and effects in it but it would have been to hard to do and I would of done it in the time frame. But over all yes my product did meet my intentions and I am really proud of what I have made. At first I only wanted to make a trailer and now I have made a full 5 minute shot film. So in some ways I did better than I thought.
