2. One of the ways I wanted to
address my target audience was
through the use of direct address. I
thought that it was important to
make the magazine personal to
my target audience, and I thought
it was also important to attract my
target audience to Hybrid, so I
thought eye contact was a very
key concept to the front cover of
my magazine. I felt that it would
engage the reader more, and it is
also a concept used to guide the
reader to the magazine as a way
to persuade my audience to
purchase it.
3. I also had to think about the
house-style of my magazine as
the colour scheme is essential to
the creation of my magazine. So I
chose Red, Black, Grey and White
as they are typical codes and
conventions of Rock music
magazines, but the red stands out
to the target audience as its a
vibrant colour against the black,
white and grey. I also used Yellow
as the border of my pug in order
to make the pug stand out even
more as it is a competition, and it
could also be a device used to
attract/address my target
audience.
4. Another way I
attracted/addressed my target
audience was through the cover
lines featured on my cover. It is
important that I used up to date
information, and popular artists in
order to attract the audiences
attention. So when constructing
some of my cover lines, I
researched stories/news for
certain artists in order to construct
an interesting file/contents page
of stories that were relevant to
the Rock genre and other genres
featured in my magazine. I
sometimes used quotes from the
articles or asked a question in
order to intrigue the target
audience.
I also placed the articles in the left
third as I knew that the audience
would see it first before the rest of
the magazine.
5. For my magazine, I created a
logo in my masthead to make it
recognisable to any target
audience as well as my own. I
used what is known as “The
Anarchy Fist” in my mast head to
replace a fist that didn’t look that
good which already featured in
the font. I thought the anarchy fist
would attract the attention of my
target audience as A) its in the
left third, and B) Anarchy is
associated with punk rock, and
any member of the punk rock
audience is part of my audience
as they are still associated with
rock, and rock is associated with
rebellion as well.
