4. Photography
Preliminary
Task
Final
Production
After my preliminary task, I decided to
work on my photography skills,
practising taking more focused
images and watching tutorials to learn
about the aperture, exposure, focus,
etc and how to adjust them to
produce certain effects and get the
perfect photo. However, it may be
hard to see on the right, due to the
filters and adjustments I had made to
enhance my images.
5. Editing
Preliminary Task
Final
Production
During making my preliminary task, I learnt
some of the basic skills of editing photos but I
had only edited the photo for my contents page
and left my front cover without even fiddling
with filters.
Therefore, when it came to my final
production, all of the pictures that I featured in
my magazine were made to ‘pop’ by fiddling
with contrast, brightness etc to make sure the
first thing the reader sees on the page are the
images.
6. Layout
For my preliminary task, skill or refined layout
were missing, choosing to use a photograph for
both pages and fitting the text around the figure in
the image. Layout is perhaps the biggest change
from preliminary to final and the area of most
progression.
Basic layout-wise, the two front covers are not too
different. However, mastheads, text and the
barcode has been moved around experimentally
to fit with the codes and conventions I had
researched.
Comparing the contents page, it is easy to see
that they are vastly different. On the right, the
contents page has an ordered list of contents with
page numbers and snippets of information. It
displays the issue number as well as the logo of
the magazine at the bottom of the page
