3. DEVELOPMENT FROM PRELIMINARY TASK TO
PRODUCTION – FRONT COVER
The images for the preliminary task were taken on an Iphone 5c and had no
extra lighting or set background, for my final production I used a Canon 600D
to get better quality images and also used plain backdrops and lighting
equipment. The text was randomly placed and not in-line with the other
cover lines, this is something I wanted to improve upon for my final
production so that the text looked neat and was visually easy to read,
however the placement of my masthead remained in the same place as my
preliminary for my production. Another key area I was focused on improving
and put a lot of thought into was the colour scheme, I wanted neutral
colours but then one colour to stand out, this being the yellow I’ve used for
some cover lines and specifically the anchor text on my front cover. I also
wanted the font colours to be easily read and stand out against the
background of the image.

5. DEVELOPMENT FROM PRELIMINARY TASK TO
PRODUCTION – CONTENTS PAGE
From my preliminary contents page there were many things I picked up
on that I wanted to add/change for my final production. I found that
the layout of the contents column looked difficult to read and not tied
together so after having looked at real media examples I added rows in
alternating colour to give more structure to the contents column and
make the contents easier to spot and read. I also added extra features
such as social media links to attract my younger target audience.
Another convention I added was images with sub texts and the use of
larger page numbers in a bright colour in the corner of the image to
make it easier to navigate through the magazine to specific articles.
