EVALUATION QUESTION 2
In my product, individual social groups arerepresented to fit my indie theme.
People that are different to ‘normal’ people areshown through my product
because indie music is less mainstream than pop music. The written text is
made to makemy models look mysterious, like in my double page spread (DPS)
one of the artists disappeared, adding to the indie effect. The hair and costume
adds to the indie effect for example, the models in my magazine havedifferent
hair styles (high bunches and space buns) compared to ones you see on a daily
basis.
I would define my models to be in quite edgy social groups, despitenot having
too much of an edgy appearance, they look mysterious and different in a sense
that their look is not one that you would see all the time. Their social group is
not mainstream, like the indie music they like, they all havesimilarities for
example their hair or clothing is different compared to more ‘popular’ groups.
The text on my frontcover portrays thesocial group well in the fact that I have
not used common fonts, but instead very different ones to the ones normally
used.
I represented the social group of my models through the text fonts as well as
the clothing, hair and makeup. For example, one of my models worea long
leopard print jacketwhich doesn’treveal much about the person, it gives a
mysterious aspectwhich makes the audience want to find out more. Her hair
looks quite like a ‘pop’ theme, although the clothing and text on the magazine
portrays a different theme which adds to the indie effect because it looks
different and shows multiple effects. The makeup is also simple so the
audience are left wanting to find out who the mysterious artistis because she
doesn’tlook mainstreamand an obvious artistthat everyonewould know.
My other artistis also represented in a very simple way, shewears her hair in
spacebuns making her look ‘different’ and she also wears glasses making her
look quite geeky and different to the norm. her glasses make her look
mysterious and as if shehas something to hide which makes her fit the indie
theme really well.
Both of my artists portray an independent social group that is not mainstream
but also not completely outcast. This is representing the indie theme well
because indie music isn’tmainstream nor outcast.
