Q4. Who would be the audience for your media product?

On my research into the film classification guidelines, I found that since our main
task contains elements of horror and violence for example towards the end of the
opening sequence when the protagonist is being dragged away, I feel that our film is
only suitable to those aged 15 and above. Also I did some research on the target
audience for the particular sub-genre and found that it attracts people from 15-20.
Consequently I think that this would be the ideal audience for our product. Also, the
fact that the characters in the film are around the same age, it will attract that
particular audience more as they can relate to them because they usually go through
the same routines and lifestyle such as going out to parties and talking on the phone
quite a lot.

Additionally along with similar age groups, they would also relate to the objects that
are displayed in the panning of the protagonist’s bedroom. For example the computer
she has and other technologies including the radio signify the commonplace items
that are regularly used by teenagers.

Overall, the plot can be more accessible to this age group because the protagonist is
around the same age and the plot focuses mainly on the daily life and hassles of a
seemingly normal teenager. The film may be close to their normal lives henceforth
increasing their fear as they may think the same thing could happen to them.
