The proposal is for a horror film called "Night Snatcher" that would entertain audiences. It would feature a creature that appears at night to kidnap and kill victims. The film poster, DVD cover, and trailer would use suspenseful elements like shadows and camera angles to advertise the entertainment purpose without revealing too much. The story follows a prisoner who must escape and capture the Night Snatcher. The target audience is 18+ of any gender or social status who enjoy a suspenseful slasher film. Care was taken to avoid offending any groups and ensure sufficient originality to prevent copyright issues. Research into horror genres, trailers, posters and covers would inform the design of these marketing elements.

Product’s Purpose:
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
The purpose of the product would be to entertain, which would be demonstrated in the film poster,
DVD cover and Film trailer. I will achieve this by using the film poster, DVD cover and film trailer so
that they clearly advertise entertainment. As by having the film in a poster form, and with a DVD
front and back cover, which was eye catching to the audience to look, it shows the audience the
purpose and make them want to watch the movie. Also having the film trailer in right amount of
time and not so, it is like a short movie, so those watching don’t get bored means that it advertises
its genre and purpose, also so it would make the who are watching the trailer get bored of watch it,
also with the poster it has to be eye catching to the audience to look and to make watch the movie
because if it’s not eye catching or similar to other poster it wouldn’t make them want to go and
watch it.

My product is about a creature that only appears in the night or in a dark place, it takes people and
leaves them for dead whilst it hunts for its next victim. Therefore, the prisoner must find a way to
escape and kill/capture the night snatcher.
I would put in different camera angles to make it a horror film and to give more suspense to the
trailer. The poster and covers will have a shadow in the picture to make more mysterious to the
audience to who is the creature. I would also put in different props for example a meat clever and a
phone, because in most horror films they have a weapon that they use to kill people with. In
addition to this, the phone would be used to pretend to call someone. Also, I wouldn’t put in a
mask person in the trailer because then you don’t who or what it is throughout the trailer. The night
snatcher has been haunting the town according to legend, but no ones knows when he turns up
again.
Research & Planning
Where will you use elements of your research and planning to influence and inform your final idea
(be specific to certain parts)
I will use my research in the design of the poster and DVD cover with the colours and the size
fonts this will influence my final idea because it will help to catch the audience attention to poster
and cover when they see it or when they look at for example in a shop. So based on my research
and my experiments for the design of the DVD cover and Poster I will be using a dark image with a
white contrasting writing in a block/ bold font. I will also use my research when making the film
trailer with the editing and the jump scares within the trailer, as jump scares and suspense were
key parts of horror films in the answers to the interviews this will influence my final idea because it
will make the trailer more interesting to watch because it will certain aspect that are in other horror
trailer. I will also use aspect of the colour scheme to make the final product like other product but
not have it so it’s exactly the same, this is so people can associate what genre it’s is.
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person?
My audience is 18+ because it will include graphic content and scenes that might disturbed some
views. It would be for both genders as well because it doesn’t have anything that would favour one
over the other, this is so it will appeal to the audience more than it was just for one gender. It would
be a belonger because it’s made in the UK which doesn’t suggest change, which would make
them very loyal to the brand. It would also be a balanced because it would a group of mixture
achievers that respond with the success but the related with helping others, this would shown in
the trailer by having a group of people having to help each to succeed to escape the night
snatcher. The social status is balanced because it in a community that has a group of people that

want to help each other, this would be seen in my trailer and poster.
Legal & Ethical Considerations:

My product won’t include any offensive material, but it will include some material that viewers
might find disturbing for example fake blood and the story line may cause some upset due to its
based around people being kidnapped by a mysterious person.
I will restrict younger people from watching the film as I have put an 18 rating on the film this is, so
it doesn’t make any one who watches it too scared or scarred from watching the film or trailer.
It won’t offend any social groups / religions/ ethnicities because it doesn’t have any that would
offend with the trailer, poster and DVD cover because it doesn’t have anything that links to social,
religious or ethnicities groups, the main reason why is being that there no speech during the trailer
and it won’t include religious symbols during the trailer or on the poster/covers. I will ensure that it
won’t offend any by testing it. I will do this by giving it to range of people of different social,
religious and ethical background to watch give feedback on before it I sent it off, this so that they
can say if it might offend certain people, in which case I can change the certain bit if its mentioned
by multiple people to make ok.
I’m not using anything that is from an existing product this is so that it wouldn’t get sue for
copyright, for example I’m not using characters from other horror films and I’m not using music
from other films that have been made before, or music which has been copywrite.
My product will be sufficiently different from other products because it does not have anything that
would be the same, also it wouldn’t have any character from other horror movies, and the story line
is different from other horror films. I would make sure that it doesn’t have any references to other
horror movie trailers by watching ones that are of a similar genre to my trailer, ensuring that any of
my ideas haven’t already been used, so my film trailer is original and can’t be mistaken for another
already made film. I would also look at other poster/DVD covers of horror films to make sure that
there isn’t any similarity, by making sure there isn’t any similar film trailers, posters and DVD
covers I should prevent myself getting sued for copyright infringements as everything is my own
idea
