The student created ancillary tasks of a poster and magazine cover to promote their main product of a film trailer. They researched conventions of the chosen products and found similarities and differences between them. The ancillary tasks complement the main product well and work together to create an effective promotional package. The student used conventions from dance films and the products themselves to make the ancillary tasks look realistic and clearly related to the main product.

1. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?From my research on the chosen products for my ancillary tasks, I had learnt about their conventions and also the similarities and differences and their relations to the main product they are advertising.The two ancillary tasks work well together in complimenting my main product and together to create a good promotion package for what could be a realistic film. I have used the conventions of dance films throughout each of my tasks also adding in the conventions of the products themselves to make them look realistic. As I have used these conventions this has enabled my products to share similarities and work well with each other showing a clear relationship between the trailer, poster and the magazine cover. The same character is used on the main image of both of the ancillary tasks as it is important that when a film is advertised, the poster is connected to the film. I decided to use the same image as it draws the attention on just one character, and shows only one personality trait that is familiar to the audience, there is a clear similarity between both ancillaries and enables the audience to see the links and remember this character as the main character in focus that they have been shown.Another similarity within my work that show the relationship between the three products I have created are the house styles and colour schemes used which tend to be black, white, red and purple. These are colours that I have found to be a convention of dance films. Using similar colours throughout it shows a connection between all the ancillary tasks and are associated with the main task.<br />
