How do the 3 products work together?

                          
 To help my products work together as a whole I
  have chosen a house style using the colour scheme of
  Red, Black & White which will be used on all three
  products to link them and give them a consistency so
  that each product separately will link to the others. I
  also used similar fonts on all the products so that
  they would link to each other in that way as well.
How have you ensured that all 3 will
      attract your target audience?
                         
 In my house style I used a very simple colour
  scheme (Red, White & Black) which is very common
  within both the psychological and thriller genres
  which makes it appropriate to the hybrid genre of
  psychological thriller. They appeal to my target
  audience as several films within this genre use a very
  similar colour scheme if I used an alternate colour
  scheme such as pastel colours it would not reflect the
  genre the film falls in and it would also make my
  audience automatically disregard it as something
  that isn't in their interest range.
Are some products stronger than others?
       Would you make changes to any?
                          
 I feel that my products are all equally strong in the
  way they are laid out and their relation to my
  audience. I wouldn’t make any changes to my
  products as I really like them as they are currently if
  I had access to more advanced tools I would make
  them look a lot more professional. If I had to select
  one of my products as the strongest out of the three I
  would pick my double page spread as it strictly
  follows the codes and conventions of existing
  products and has a high amount of impact.
How do they compare to existing products?

                          
 All my pieces fit in well with existing media
  products. The double page spread looks very
  convincing and I looked at a lot of different double
  page spreads in various magazines to get a real feel
  for the way it was all presented. The poster also fits
  well as it looks very similar to existing short film
  posters as it looks semi professional in the way it is
  designed and produced. The actual short film keeps
  to all the conventions and codes of other short films
  within the time limit we were set showing that it
  could be compared and published along with them.
What do your target audience think of the finished
                       pieces?

                        
 When the short film was shown to several members
  of my target audience (16-25) the products were all
  marked very highly.
Explore the fact that the article and poster are to
          promote / publicise the film
                               
 When promoting a film (even a short film) the poster and
  double page article on the film have to clearly advertise the
  product to the niché market.
 By using lots of small images rather than one large image on
  my poster it encourages the viewer to look closer as it isn’t very
  bold and “in your face” as feature film posters are. It also
  advertises the main storyline of it being like a scrapbook of
  memories.
 For the double page spread I had to keep to strict conventions
  of existing magazines who review films but I made sure to
  personalise this set of layout specific conventions to fit my films
  genre and style.
 When advertising films it is very important to create something
  original and eye grabbing to make a viewer want to see it, for
  example I wouldn’t go see a film that had a boring review or
  poster.

How do the 3 products work together?   To help my products work together as a whole I have chosen a house style using the colour scheme of Red, Black & White which will be used on all three products to link them and give them a consistency so that each product separately will link to the others. I also used similar fonts on all the products so that they would link to each other in that way as well.
  • 3. How have you ensured that all 3 will attract your target audience?   In my house style I used a very simple colour scheme (Red, White & Black) which is very common within both the psychological and thriller genres which makes it appropriate to the hybrid genre of psychological thriller. They appeal to my target audience as several films within this genre use a very similar colour scheme if I used an alternate colour scheme such as pastel colours it would not reflect the genre the film falls in and it would also make my audience automatically disregard it as something that isn't in their interest range.
  • 4. Are some products stronger than others? Would you make changes to any?   I feel that my products are all equally strong in the way they are laid out and their relation to my audience. I wouldn’t make any changes to my products as I really like them as they are currently if I had access to more advanced tools I would make them look a lot more professional. If I had to select one of my products as the strongest out of the three I would pick my double page spread as it strictly follows the codes and conventions of existing products and has a high amount of impact.
  • 5. How do they compare to existing products?   All my pieces fit in well with existing media products. The double page spread looks very convincing and I looked at a lot of different double page spreads in various magazines to get a real feel for the way it was all presented. The poster also fits well as it looks very similar to existing short film posters as it looks semi professional in the way it is designed and produced. The actual short film keeps to all the conventions and codes of other short films within the time limit we were set showing that it could be compared and published along with them.
  • 6. What do your target audience think of the finished pieces?   When the short film was shown to several members of my target audience (16-25) the products were all marked very highly.
  • 7. Explore the fact that the article and poster are to promote / publicise the film   When promoting a film (even a short film) the poster and double page article on the film have to clearly advertise the product to the niché market.  By using lots of small images rather than one large image on my poster it encourages the viewer to look closer as it isn’t very bold and “in your face” as feature film posters are. It also advertises the main storyline of it being like a scrapbook of memories.  For the double page spread I had to keep to strict conventions of existing magazines who review films but I made sure to personalise this set of layout specific conventions to fit my films genre and style.  When advertising films it is very important to create something original and eye grabbing to make a viewer want to see it, for example I wouldn’t go see a film that had a boring review or poster.
