How does your media product represent
particular social groups ?
 The age my magazine mostly represents is young new
artists at the beginning of their music careers. This is
mainly because the focus is on new live music.
 However it would not be unusual to include older
artists, like in NME and Q magazines, if they were
currently touring again. This therefore makes it less
likely to appear but nevertheless they still might.
 I chose for the models to have clothes that are
sophisticated yet fashionable to represent young
adults of late teens in to twenties who care about
their appearance and what is considered ‘cool’.
 The language of my articles are sophisticated
language which again represents my target audience
because they have capability to understand what is
being said.
 Most of the artists featured in my magazine are males
as I have found that most indie artists are males.
However I wanted to use a female on my front cover
because I thought that it would really make the
magazine stand out from the male dominated issues
of other magazines.
 By putting a female on my front cover it also shows
that more recently there is a growing amount of
female indie artist. This therefore links with the
theme of new live music of Vivere.
 None of the artists are dressed provocatively which
shows that the artists are being judged on their
talent, rather than their sexuality. However they are
all dressed in fashionable clothes which shows that I
have considered elements of attractiveness to appeal
to my audience.
 My magazine provides a small variety of
ethnicities, mainly Caucasian in my double
page spread and contents page but my front
cover model is mixed race.
 This therefore allows me to represent
different ethnicities but also represent the
indie music scene which is mostly white
dominate with some mixed race artists that
are up and coming.
 The language featured in my magazine article is
complex with therefore represents the middle
class people who have been further educated
through 6th Form or even university.
 With the theme of live music, it also represents
the middle class they have enough money to go
to gigs and even big festivals like Benicassim and
Leeds and Reading festival.
 I have priced my magazine at £2.30 which I think
is reasonable because as only a small amount of
disposable income is needed to pay it.
 However I have also included a subscription offer
which allows a wider range of people to be able
to afford my magazine, they do not have enough
disposable income available.
