Charlie-Mae Taylor evaluates her first attempt at creating a magazine cover. She used a phone app instead of Photoshop due to lack of access. The red font color of the masthead "LIVE" does not represent pop music well. For the next version, she will use brighter colors and change the model's top. The strapline offering concert tickets is too big and the colors do not contrast well. Evaluation of my first attempt
- 1. Evaluation of my first attempt CHARLIE-MAE TAYLOR
- 2. Front page. - To create my cover I used an app called ‘Pic Collage’ on my phone as I did not have access to publisher or photoshop. I plan to use photoshop on my final version. I decided to call my magazine ‘LIVE’ as that was one of the first names to spring to mind. This could change as I progress further into making the cover. I put it in a red font colour which I think could now be changed. It mixes in with the hair colour of my model and doesn’t look as though it is representing the genre of pop music. Next time I will go for a bright pink or pastel purple to show off the style more. - My main image is of a model called Talia. She will portray the character of my protagonist female singer. I hadn’t thought of a name for her at this stage so I just decided to go with her actual name. Next time I think that I will have her in a plain top as it was hard to find colours for the cover lines to go over the top.
- 3. Front page. - The strapline is an offer for concert tickets. Looking back at it now, I think that it seems too big and the colours don’t really complement or contrast each other well, so next time I will change the size and colours. - I also decided to include a cover line called ‘8 free posters inside’ as I thought that this would appeal to my target audience. - All the photos I have used are practice ones and none of them will appear on my final version. I plan to use my photoshoot plan from a previous blog to upload new images.
- 4. Next time. - I want to do another mock version of my front cover to achieve more feedback to help me - I will use a plain coloured top on my model - Include a smaller strapline - Add new/different photos in - Experiment with different masthead colours and fonts - Do more research into front covers
