Evaluation question 3: What kind of media distributor
may distribute your media product and why?
 I planned to aim my product at both male and female
audiences. This is so that I had a larger target
market, and more people would have been
interested in my product. However looking back I
now feel that my product is more aimed females due
to the stories covered and the way the product as a
whole is designed. Furthermore studies suggest that
females read magazines more that males. So by
aiming my magazine more at females, it means I
would sell more of the magazines and generate
more of an interest in it.
 As I am female I found it easier to design a
magazine for females, as I know what a female
would be looking for in a magazine, as I am a female
myself. However I didn’t want to make the magazine
to biased towards females so I did try to design it so
that males can read it as well, and be interested in
it.
 The artists I have chosen to feature in my
magazine are all English or from the uk. I
did this because my magazine will mainly
be sold in the UK to feel like they can relate
to the people who are on the magazine.
For example if I were to feature the ‘Arctic
Monkeys’ people from Sheffield would be
able to relate to them as they are from
Sheffield. Hopefully this means that people
would be m within the UK. Overall I feel
that the audience I have chosen for my
magazine, are mainly female aged
between 15 & 21 who are all in the working
social class of people.
 As I have already stated earlier, my
target market is a teenager to young
adults. So people between the age of
15-21. this is because I felt like this
would be an age range which I could
relate to as I am in-between this age
range. I designed and created my
product so that it would suit a person
who was in my target age group.
 Personally I feel that my product has been
more targeted that the working class of the
public. This is because I am not advertising
any products which are not unaffordable to
the working class. Furthermore the way I
have worded my magazine suits this type
of magazine I have created. Controversially
if I were to use slang or language which is
not grammatically correct, then it would put
people off from buying my magazine. So I
feel that the choice of language I have
chosen to use will also affect the type of
audience my magazine will appeal to.
Hopefully I have mastered the type of
language used so that people from any
social class will want to read my magazine.
 For distributing my product I feel that I would use one
of the major distributing houses such as IPC media
or Bauer. These are both major distributing houses
which distribute magazines such as ‘gratzia’ and
‘closer’. These are both huge magazines, and I feel
that it would benefit my magazine gravley if one of
these houses were to distribute my magazine. If one
of these houses were to distribute my
magazine, then technically they would be in charge
of my magazine, meaning that I could lose some of
the creativity which I have put into my magazine, as
technically the company would own the rights to the
magazine. If I were to try and distribute the magazine
myself I would be able to put what I like in my
magazine and design it how I like however this would
be much more difficult than getting a distributor to do
it for me.
 To distribute my magazine myself would be very hard, as I
would have to think about printing costs, where I am am
going to sell my magazine and how long for. If I were to
have a distributing company do this for me, then I
wouldn’t have to think about printing as this would be part
of the costs which I pay the distribution company. They
would also decide where they think would be best to sell
my magazine, as this is what they specialize in. However I
feel like my magazine should be on trial at first, because if
it doesn’t sell well, I would begin to make a loss where if
the magazine was on trial, then it wouldn’t matter as much
if the magazine were to not sell well, as it would only be
on trail. I also feel that it would be wiser to sell my product
in the major cities first, such as;
London, Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool etc. this is
because people are more likely to buy a magazine in
cities, and to have hered about the people featuring in my
magazine. So overall, I feel that I will have a distribution
company distributing my product, as I feel that it will help
my magazine sell much better.
