Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Observation
On April 28, 2017, I attended the School of Music s Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The program last
about two hours and had a ten minute intermission. This non ticketed event was held at Morgan Hall
in the Bailey Performing Arts Center on Kennesaw State University s Kennesaw campus. The
program consisted of three unique musical pieces performed by the renowned Atlanta Symphony
Orchestra.
Before the concert began, I was able to observe the audience members outside of the entrance doors.
Unlike the other Kennesaw State concerts that I attended, there was an extremely large and diverse
crowd dressed formally. The doors opened fifteen minutes before the concert began and an usher
escorted me to the second row in front of the stage. As the performance began, felt a formal and
prestigious atmosphere within the crowd. I began to copy my neighbor s etiquette in order to fit in
with the audience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The orchestra performed passionately and precisely with perfect synchronization. The dramatic
crescendos and decrescendos really brought out the emotions of each piece. The first piece performed
was called Don Juan (1888 1889) and started off fast paced and suspenseful. Composed by Richard
Strauss (1864 1949), the piece had a lot of dissonance within it. There were times when the piece
would slow down gradually then suddenly speed up, returning back to its original pacing. Each
instrumental section could be heard precisely and no one section overwhelmed another. The conductor
stood out the most during the performance and excellently controlled the pacing and tone of the piece.
His exotic movements seemed excessive at first, but I began to realize that he was simply passionate

My Love For Music Started
The Delicate Music
My love for music began before I was even born. In the womb, I listened to music. My mom was like
any typical first baby mom, that lets their baby listen to classical and instrumental music. I listened
that beautiful, delicate music, before I set foot on this earth. I loved all the sound of instruments deep
and high play together, to make a masterpiece. This is when my love for music started to bloom.
When I reached about 5th grade, we had to choose what type of ensemble we wanted to be apart of.
The choices were choir and band. Of course, I chose band, the problem was I didn t know what I
wanted to play. Before we were put into the class, we had the opportunity to choose what ... Show

I prayed that this instrument was the one. I took a nice long, deep breath and blew almost all the air in
my lungs, into the wooded recorder. A loud squeak, exploded from the instrument. I jump, not
expected to play such a disgusting sound. I giggled, and so did the teacher. He suggested that I blow
less air, to get a better sound. I position my lips back on to the mouthpiece, and blew a less amountq of
air, so I wouldn t get that volger sound again. Then I heard it. My first note! The sound trickled from
the instrument into the room, filling it with my beautiful sound. Suddenly, that sound formed it that
horrific squeak I heard the first time. I giggled harder, and so did the teacher. This is one. , he stated to
my mother how was standing next to the chair I was sitting on. I had forgot she was there for a second.
This was my first step into the music I had always listen to. Now, I could be the one making it.
As time went, I grew as a musician. When 7th grade came around the corner, my conductor stated the
a competition was going on called, The Solo Ensemble Festival. In the competition, you could play
with another person, which would be an ensemble, or a solo. I heard about it in 6th grade, but you
couldn t sign up to be in it, until you were in 7th grade. This gave me the opportunity to show off my
talent. I ask a couple of my friend if they wanted to play with me in the solo

Research Paper On Dr Sakena Yacoobi
In many religions there are problems facing the right for a girls education, luckily there are people all
around the world like Dr. Yacoobi who fight against this even if they get criticism. The religion I have

Career As A Certified Public Accountant
As the accounting profession continued to grow throughout the state of Texas, the Texas State Society
of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) formed the central chapter in 1911, composed of a group of
17 public accountants and six junior staff accountants. After several years of the TSCPA requesting a
regulatory board for the accounting profession, the state legislature approved the Public Accountancy
Act of 1915. According to this act, a candidate wishing to pursue a career as a Certified Public
Accountant (CPA) would be required to pass the board certified examination and receive a certificate
indicative of the holder s fitness to serve the public as a competent and properly qualified accountant
in public practice, and to prevent those who have no such certificate from using such titles or initials.
Throughout the years, the Act was amended several times to accommodate for the ever changing
society and economy, and to take advancements in technology into consideration. As a result of
technological advancements, an increasing number of colleges and universities offer online programs
for students who cannot find the time in their hectic schedules for a traditional classroom setting,
which is highly beneficial for people to obtain a degree while continuing to work or pursue other
interests. However, online accounting programs may have a negative impact upon students wishing to
earn an accounting degree with the hopes of passing the CPA exam and beginning a career within

Murder and a Meal Lab Report
The purpose of this lab was to test different substances using various procedures to see what
biomolecules were present and ultimately find out what restaurant Anna Lyza had eaten at before she
died. For the first control test, we used vegetable oil to test for lipids. So, if the solution does not
contain lipids, it does not become translucent when placed onto a paper bag square and held up to a
light. So, it is a negative result. However, in the presence of lipids, the solution will become
translucent when placed onto a paper bag square and held up to a light. Therefore in this case, the
result is positive. On the other hand, we used albumin egg to test for proteins in another control test. If
the solution does not contain proteins, it will not experience any color change and so it is a negative
result. When there are proteins existing in the solution, it will turn bluish/purplish and for this reason it
is a positive result. Furthermore in the third control test, we used dextrose to test for simple
carbohydrates such as glucose. If the solution does not contain simple carbohydrates, it will not
undergo any color change and will remain a blue color. So, it is a negative result in this circumstance.
If there are simple carbohydrates present in the solution, the solution will turn reddish and so the result
is positive. For the last control test, we used starch solution to test

Sport Psychology: How it Helps Athletes
In our society today it seems like sports rule the land. Everywhere we look, there is some kind of
sporting event going on or being televised. Almost everyone could be considered a fan of at least one
sport. Some people follow sports like a religion. With such an increased focus on sports, the athlete s
performances are put under a microscope. This puts more pressure on athletes to give a winning
performance. No longer do athletes play for fun, they play to win. This isn t happening just on the
professional level; it is happening on all levels of sport. From little league to backyard football, the
goal is to win at all cost. With this increase pressure, athletes are ... Show more content on

(Miserandino, 1998, p. 287) Athletes can also suffer greatly from anxiety and stress. (Holm, Beckwith,
Ehde, Tinius, 1995, p. 463) Any of these conditions can be detrimental to ones competitive ability.
Techniques such as mental imagery training and relaxation techniques can be used to attack problems
in these areas. (McKenzie, Howe, 1997, p. 196) Marianne Miserandino s research was focused on
failure, and why athletes believe that they don t accomplish their goals. She learned that starting at
young age, athletes are told that failure comes from their lack of ability. This is called learned
helplessness. (Miserandino, 1998, p. 287) In her study she approached this problem by splitting her
subject into two groups. One group received feedback about their shooting techniques and were told
that lack of effort was the reason for missed shots, not lack of ability. The other group received only
feedback on their techniques.
After her 4 week study was done, the group that received the positive reinforcement showed more
mastery of the skills and greater improvement than their counterparts. (Miserandino, 1998 p. 286)
Another study also used basketball free throws as the basis for its study. Craig Wrisberg and Mark
Anshel did this study. It looks at the effectiveness of applying cognitive techniques to improve
performance of shooting free throws. (Wrisberg, Anshel, 1989, p. 95)

Essay about The Effects Of Media On Preschoolers
The use of media (television, video games, phones, music, and computers) by young children is
becoming more and more common in everyday life. Children are in front of media screens now more
than anytime in history. Parents are allowing, encouraging, and promoting the use of media in many
forms. There are endless sources available for parents to purchase for the use with infants, toddlers,a
nd preschoolers from movies to games and videos. (Ravichandran, France de Bravo, 2010, Yound
Children and Screentime .) Although these media tupes are readily available, whether they be for
entertainment or educational use, are they really in the children s best interest? According to the

(Ravichandran, France de Bravo, 2010, Yound Children and Screentime .) Young children learn
through play and interacting with people. If we want bright, intelligent, and active children with
phenomenal imaginations we have to take and make time to play with them and turn the media off.
Play allows children to learn, the wiring connections in their brains depends on them playing,
imagining and interacting with human beings. Play prepares them for real life. It s where children
work out their problems in order to deal with life. If children spend their time in front of screens and
interacting with media then it is not spent in play and the various brain connections are not being
connected, resulting in learing and attention problems. Children also learn from moving and doing.
When they are interacting with media they are usually not moving and doing. During a 2year
longitudinal study where media exposure was recorded, both violent and educational, were found and
associated with physical aggression, verbal aggression and relational aggression according to the
gender of the children. It was determined that media exposure predicted various types of aggression
and prosocial behavior according to gender. To their amazement girls were much more likely to
engage in and be victimized by relational and verbal aggression than boys, especially if other girls
were present.Whereas boys were much more likely to participate in physical aggression than girls,

The Duty Of Care On Public Bodies
An explanation will be made on how the current law addresses the imposition of a duty of care on
public bodies. An evaluation will then be made to determine whether the duty of care the police owe
to protect individuals from a known threat should be legally recognised.
The common law duty of care was established in Donoghue v Stevenson [1932] AC 562 (HL) and
refined in Caparo Industries plc v Dickman [1990] 2 AC 605 (HL). Any party including public
authorities may owe a duty of care to another if particular conditions are fulfilled. The Caparo
conditions apply to public bodies in respect of whether it is fair, just and reasonable to impose a duty
of care on their actions.
The fundamental case to address the duty of care imposed on a ... Show more content on

Further to the general negligence position on public bodies, in instances of omissions the general
principle is that there is no duty to act unless a special relationship exists. However, there is an
exception, a duty is owed if proximity is established as demonstrated in Home Office v Dorset Yacht
Co Ltd [1970] UKHL 2.
Lord Bingham did not agree that the policy arguments established in Hill and subsequently followed
in Brooks to be appropriate in the context of Smith. In Smith he attempted to introduce a liability
principle . The principle proposed that where evidence is credible and the threat is specific and
imminent, reasonable steps must be taken to assess such a threat and act where necessary. He did not
agree that adopting the principle would induce defensive practices, neither did he agree that accepting
the principle would detract from the police s primary functions. The liability principle reflected the
content of Article 2 European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), Right to life.
Following the signing of the ECHR, the United Kingdom introduced the Human Rights Act 1998
(HRA 1998). Under s6(3)(a) HRA 1998, the courts are now considered a public body, therefore no
decisions they make can affect the guaranteed rights of any individual under ECHR. The introduction
of this legislation has resulted in individuals bringing claims for Human Rights breaches where
negligence claims have

Cinderella And Cinderell Two Versions Of Cinderella
I m sure you all remember watching or reading the tales of Cinderella as a child. I know I do, I grew
up wearing plastic heels and itchy princess dresses wishing for my dream prince. Through reading
various versions of this magical tale, however, I have been struck by the different cultural values
represented in the story and how that differed with the Disney version I grew up with. Two versions of
the story that stood out to me were The Little Glass Slipper by Charles Perrault and perhaps one the
earliest versions, Yeh Shen, an Asian fairy tale written by Duan Cheng Shi. But before we dive into
these mystical tales, ask your fairy godmother for a sparkly gown and a pair of glass slippers, because
we have a ball to attend.
The Little Glass Slipper, written by Charles Perrault in 1697 is commonly known to have laid the
ground work for the Disney version of Cinderella. This folktale came about in 17th century Paris
which is where it receives its original tile Cendrillon. The tale encompasses many cultural values that
evidently link back to the time in which it was written. The story represents French values of society,
monarchy and the significance of beauty to men as well as women. This tale represents the social
classes of the 17th century in the matter that it differentiates between the upper class and the lower
class. Like the step mother in the tale, upper class women often were selfish and took charge of the
family. Cinderella on the other hand was not so

No Country For Old Men And The Road
Cormac McCarthy is one America s most revered and influential authors of the 20th and 21st century.
Winning the Pulitzer Prize for literature and many other literary accolades, McCarthy took the world
by storm with his gritty realism and sparse use of literature. His success eventually lead to the movie
adaptations of two of his most praised novels, No Country for Old Men and The Road. These two
works displayed McCarthy s style and plot structure very well, even though his writing style is
predominantly unconventional . However, contrary to the irregular style of literature, both movies
received great praise from critics and fans for being so loyal to the source material, although,
screenwriters and directors deviates from the source material ... Show more content on

Considering the one of the main themes is about the end of humanity both physically and
psychologically, the narrative is wrought with brutality, hardships, and terror. For the entire duration
of the novel and movie, the father has accepted the idea that he would kill the son to save him from
capture if they were captured by cannibal men. In one portion of the novel, the protagonist come
across a house with a basement room filled with naked people, male and female, all trying to hide,
shielding their faces with their hands (110). They run out off the house seeing that there is a group of
cannibals approaching. In the film, the father and son are trapped in the house with the cannibals who
are unaware of their presence. Fearing that they would be captured and tortured to death, the father
ends up pressing the gun in the son s head and cocking it when he is almost certain that they would be
found. This is where the movie shows cinema s advantage over print. Possibly the bleakest scene in
the movie is when this occurs because the raw emotion the father and son exhibit on screen when they
are coming to terms with the worse possible outcome is both gut wrenching and unmatched by
McCarthy s writing. The novel, however, is overall much more grim and depressing due to scenes that
were cut out in the movie version. For example, there is a point in the book where the protagonists
witness a woman giving birth only to find a charred human

African Art
The artistic expression found on the African mainland are almost as differing from the individuals

dynamic art over naturalistic art. In African sculptures, artist tended to recreate on three dimensions. I
firmly believe that African art history has assumed a noteworthy part in molding the way of life and
history of the world today. Throughout my travels through The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, I
landed myself in Gallery L9, the African art museum. I connected closely to the African masks, such
as the Helmet mask, Guere mask, and the portrait masks. Through class readings in chapter 20: Africa,
I was able to enhance my experience of the exhibit. I was able to learn about ceremonial masks.

The Benefits and Problems of Migration in the UK
Should the UK Government control migration? Some believe that it is necessary to control migration
in the UK, as they believe that too many immigrants could lead to overpopulation, unemployment and
housing shortages. It is commonly believed that migration should be controlled, as migrants come
over to our country and take our benefits ; however this is not necessarily factually correct. This essay
aims to discuss the benefits and problems of migration in the UK, and make a conclusion based on the
evidence I have discussed, about whether migration should or should not be controlled by the UK
Government. The UK s post war immigrants came mainly from Colonies in the Caribbean, India,
Bangladesh and Pakistan. An act of parliament meant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are worries that migrants are stealing UK jobs , as there is already an unemployment problem in
the UK. Some people believe that we need to focus on getting jobs for those who are already citizens
of the UK, rather than bringing more people in from different countries and getting them jobs. People
also worry that public money has to be spent on meeting the everyday needs of the immigrants and
their families, for example housing, schools and healthcare. Many UK citizens are not in permanent
housing as of yet due to the fact that there is a shortage of council owned houses, therefore we should
perhaps focus on permanently housing those who like in the UK before allowing migrants to live in
council owned houses. If the country goes into another recession, then the immigrants will add to the
burden of unemployment. Many people worry that migrants will come to the UK in order to receive
benefits. This is a big worry for some people, as it is well needed government money from their taxes
giving the migrants benefits, which they believe could be put to better use. People also worry that the
migrants avoid paying taxes as they have such low paid jobs, which makes some people angry as they
have to pay such high taxes on their wages. Some people worry that migration means that we are
losing the traditional British aspects of the UK, and that the UK is becoming too much of a

Leadership Colin Powell Essay example
Ret. General Colin Powell
As a Non Commissioned Officer in the Pennsylvania Army Nation Guard, I realize the importance
and value of good leadership. A leader has to be able to understand and support their men, have
initiative, be quick on their feet, and accept responsibility for their actions. The personal traits that I
look for in a leader are courage, commitment, candor, competence, and integrity. Out of these the most
important one to me, is integrity. A man s word is his bond and the most important leadership trait
there is. Looking back, the man I see as a great leader that possesses these traits is Ret. General Colin
Powell. Colin Powell is one of the greatest military leaders in this country s history. He served this

military aide to Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger, helping to coordinate the invasion of
Granada and the bombing of Libya (Biography.com, 2010). To help coordinate these attacks would
have to take great courage, because there s always a chance of casualties. He commits to these plans
and excels with both operations. Then, in 1991 Colin Powell was appointed to the Chairman of the

The Four Major Aspects Of The Mabling Values Framework
The competing values framework is a theory that was initially created from Quin s research that was
carried out on the major indicators of effective organisations. Stability, control, flexibility and change
(adaptation) was the theorist s preference when composing this structure within the framework. Doing
so added additional dimensions in this organisational cultures theory. The four major models that
comprise of the competing values framework are the Humans relations Model, the Open Systems
Model, Rational Goal Model and the Internal Process Model. It is through these four fundamental
models that this theory develops its main cultures which are the clan culture, the adhocracy culture,
the market culture and lastly the hierarchy culture. The fact that New York has five mafia families
working the streets in its self is the penicil of the clan culture. The boss or the don is the leader of each
clan or mob or family or schmucks (the last one was only if they did a silly thing). Any of the given
five families love to adapt to their environment using steel and iron. They call them Uzi s. I call them
guns. Through the use their tools, they can create a hierarchy within their own families and others to
ensure they stay on top. They are also able to compete in their target market using those brass bullets
I.e. if someone is on their turf that shouldn t be, they kill them or tell them to go away. The adhocracy
culture I believe is where they thrive however. Gone are the days

Effects Of The Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban Missile Crisis was a military and political confrontation between the United States and the
Soviet Union lasting thirteen days. It began on October 16 and ended on October 28, 1962.
Throughout the entirety of the Cold War, no event brought these two super powered nations closer to
nuclear war than the events that transpired during these thirteen days. During this time, William Roof
was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina as a soldier in the United States Army. The constant
pressure by both nations on each other caused high tension for everyone involved, which affected even
the soldiers going about their everyday lives.

superpowers to vastly improve over the course of the rest of the Cold War and prevented such an event
as the Cuban Missile Crisis from ever occurring again. Bill summed up the Cuban Missile Crisis in an
excellent way by stating, It was almost the dumbest way to blow up all of humanity. The Soviets and

The Goals Of Youth Engagement Services
Many agencies, professional and government organizations, educational institutions, and advocacy
groups provide a vast array of advice, materials, training, and other support, both for parents of young
children and for teachers, caregivers, and directors working with young children and their families
(Wardle 2013). Our communities provide resources for families and early care and education
programs to support children s development that are both local and web based. As educators, it is
important to inform families of these resources to help the development of our youth.
One community resource to share with parents and to use as an early childhood professional to
support children s development is the local school districts, Youth Development Support Services:
Youth Engagement Services. The goal of Youth Engagement Services (YES) is to empower their
schools and district to meet the academic and social emotional wellbeing of all students by providing
support to plan, implement, monitor, and integrate the delivery of high quality and high impact
educational and social emotional programs (youth.scusd.edu). Youth Engagement Services provide;
after school, summer and out of school time programs, mentoring and character education services,
youth voice and action opportunities, student, family, and community engagement, school culture and

Essay about The Importance of Keeping Appointments
Article 86 of the Uniform Code Of Military Justice. This Article covers Point and Place of Duty. That
means from PT formation to COB that is where you will be. What a lot of Soldiers do not understand
that includes appointments made by them or someone else. We have appointment times, SP times,
formation times and many other start times that dictate we will be there. If a Convoy has an SP time of
fifteen hundred hours and the Soldiers decide to show up late because they did not feel like getting
ready on time people could die. If they rolled out on time, they may have avoided the ambush or
avoided the Vbid that hit them in the bottleneck. It sounds extreme but time management plays a
critical role in the Army. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only does it cost time but it also cost money. It cost the Army to have Doctors there for the
Soldiers to see, it cost money to have people there to work CIF, Finance, Household Goods and many
other facets of the Army. The majority of these sectors are run by civilians now who are paid hourly.
Some of them might be working on a day off because a Soldier made an appointment with them. That
right there cost the Army money that would have otherwise been saved. Now that the Soldier missed
the appointment they caused the Army to waste a certain amount of money that could have been used
for another area. Now let s look at the math. If you have ten Soldiers that each make an appointment
and each person they are suppose to see has an average hourly wage of thirteen dollars an hour and
each work an eight hour day when they where suppose to be off that comes out to $104 per person.
Now ten employees multiplied by $104 comes out too $1040. If all ten soldiers miss their
appointments you can see the amount of money that was wasted because ten Soldiers decided not to

The Case Of 1984
Conceived Onika Tanya Maraj on December 8, 1984, in Saint James, Trinidad, Minaj is of blended
African, Caribbean, and South Asian history. She spent her younger years in Trinidad, moving to the
United States when she was five years of age to settle with her parents in South Jamaica, Queens.
There her mom functioned as a medical caretaker s aide, attempting to take care of the family on her
$200 every week. Her dad drank vigorously and did drugs, taking cash and robing his own family to
fuel his addiction. In some cases his activities had more compelling results. At the point when Minaj

Kanye West track Monster. This large number of cameos helped Minaj impact the world forever in
October of 2010 when she set a record for having the most songs simultaneously on the Billboard Hot

success, hitting shelves in November of 2010 to great excitement. People generally agreed that the
album was a solid, if not overwhelming, first appearance. Writing for Rolling Stone, Rob Sheffield
noted that there s nothing as weird or striking as her Monster feature, even as Entertainment Weekly s

Analysis Of The Book Romans
Romans 1 8 is a cornucopia of information that can only be understood by sufficiently delving into the
whole book in order to get the full meaning. This part of the book leads us from our total lives full of
sin to God s devotion to vindicate us, blessing us, and glorifying us by our religion through his good
will. The book of Romans is guide set aside to teach God s people about different aspects of the
Christianity. It gives people insight into how we should look at the natural Earth, It explains our
identity as Christians, It relates how our relationships should progress, and it discusses culture and
refinement.

It is all in the nature of the world we inhabit every bit well as man s to repeat our mistakes and sins
continually. However, it is only through God s blessing that we can be saved.
Romans 1:20 (KJV) For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are
without excuse:
When mankind sinned through the noncompliance, we were singled out by God. Because of this the
natural world and man began to die spiritually and subsist in a condition of evil. This sin affected
about every type of wickedness. Man s human identity is known only through Christ and his precepts
on the nature of humanity. It is in our nature that we are born in sin; thus it is our natural human drive
that we explore this sin to the satisfaction of the human race.
Romans 2:14 (KJV) For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained
in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Man cannot deny or deprive himself of these desires. It is solely through Christ who committed to
conquering death and forgive us our sins through the endowment of blessing. We are deprived within
ourselves. There is to some degree something immoral with us that we as individuals cannot repair.
Hence, we ask Jesus to justify, sanctify and glorify us. Therefore, it is only by the admission of this sin

No Good Deed Character Analysis
Format, premise, character traits and relationships for the episode analyzed. Daniel, you chose a great
format style for the series, No Good Deed, your analysis was broken down quite well. I do agree with
this series can fall under the drama comedic style of the webisode. You mentioned, Ernest Fiddler, is
blunt and straight to the point. If his son makes a mistake, Ernest tells him his errors without a filter.
The script stated by Ernest to Roy, One, don t let those quacks put me on life support, tubes all stickin
out of me and whatnot. When it s my time, it s my time. This statement proves he was blunt and direct
in his speech. You also mentioned, The main protagonist, Roy Fiddler, has a good sense of justice.
Roy always strives to do what is right, unaware of the problems he might encounter. This is shown in
the script, Roy looks at the flowers and smiles, an idea coming to him. Checking no one s looking, he
ditches the coffee line and salvages the flowers from the trash. Roy had a good sense to do something
good, however, his good deed turns deadly when his father goes into a coma due to an allergic
reaction. Overall, your format, premise, character traits and relationship was well documented. ...

The sequences of events regarding accident causation are explained in a one dimension by both
models of Heinrich and Bird (Kjellen, 1987, HSC, 1983). Reason (1990) introduced by the end of the
1980s the causality of accidents in numerous formats. He saw the involvement and active participation
by the management on top as a key ingredient in the avoidance of interaction of active and latent
failures in the causation of accidents. Causes of accidents are easily identified from active failures.
Whereas instances of poor design, lack of training and gaps in supervision that are inherently latent
failures in organisations are usually present for many years in the system but tend to be hidden and
hard to detect. Investigation of a complex accident needs a comprehensive combination of methods to
be used as the areas of application have deficiencies and different qualities. There are many
underlying factors at work that lead to accidents usually neglected because at times they are minor but
only come to light when they result into serious damage to health and/or death. All accidents at work
must be investigated irrespective of their size (www.hse.gov.uk). The Health and Safety at Work Act

The Importance Of Play With Toys
With the amount of time children spend playing with toys, every parent or legal guardian of a child
should be more prudent with the toys their children to play with. Playing is important to children. Play
is one of the main ways children learn and toys are tools that help encourage that. Play with toys is
extremely beneficial in ways people fail to realize. For example toys help teach motor skills and social
skills and help them build creativity and exercise their muscles. Creativity in children is also
developed during play. Children who get time off other duties to play become more attentive
especially in their schoolwork. Leaving children to initiate their own kind of games, gives them room
to become more creative as opposed to when they are supervised by an adult (Goldstein, 2012, p.13).
The toys children play with affect their own interests and skills as a person during childhood, which
influences their characteristics as a person in adulthood. First and foremost, play is essential to a child
s development. Play is so important to optimal child development that it has been recognized by the
United Nations High Commission for Human Rights as a right of every child (Play and Childrens,
n.d.). Believe it or not play has been proven to be extremely beneficial for children of all ages. It
contributes to the cognitive, physical, social and emotional well being of the child (Ginsburg, 2007, ).
Play lets children exercise their creativity while developing their

Drugs And Its Effects On America
Drugs are a major issue in America. They are imported from all around the world, but they are mostly
brought across the Mexican border. Even though they are a major concern, nobody is doing anything
about it. In the year 2015 nearly 47,000 have died from an overdose. Why is this epidemic of drugs
being flown into America being ignored? Is the election between Hilary and Trump for the presidency
a bigger picture than drugs and drug related crime? Will Trump s idea of building a wall actually help
decrease illegal immigration, and decrease the amount of narcotics brought into the U.S? Drugs
coming from Mexico have also been an issue and we have continuously reduced the amount of drugs
from being smuggled into the United states, but not all of them. Drugs are obviously a big issue in
America, even if it is being overlooked. Not only are the Drugs killing people but the fight over them
is also creating crime. People on the streets have been fighting over drugs for as long as they have
been here. They re not only fighting over the drugs but they re also killing for them. Why do we allow
for such damage to occur in the U.S. when it can be stopped? There is one solution for this drastic
issue, legalize the drugs. If a whole percentage is being controlled and distributed by the government,
people will not fight over them which will lead to lower rates of crime. Alternatively, a good way to
lower overdoses is to put a tax on them. Charge an extra tax, for example cigarettes, tax

The Role Of Nature In The Scarlet Letter
Adultery was and still is one of the most sinful acts one can commit. The Seventh Commandment is
documented in Exodus 20:14: it states Thou shall not commit adultery (Bennett np). In the Bible,
adultery is abhorrent in God s view. In ancient Israel, the penalty for this sin was death, which
indicates how ugly of a sin adultery is viewed as (Bennett np). This is expressed in various texts
including The Scarlet Letter, noticed strongly within Pearl s character. Pearl is represented in the text
as something that came from something so ugly but is a pure and beautiful piece of nature. Pearl is
born as a result of sin and some people disagreed believing that she is a way to realize the
consequences and fix the actions. It is evident in The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly to Pearl and Hester, something so radiant came from a sinful act. A rosebush is mentioned
again when Hester and Pearl are visiting the Governor s house. Pearl wants a rose from the rosebush
she see s in the garden after being denied one she cries. This shows that a pure life is unattainable for
Pearl and Hester because they will forever be followed by the sin. The comparison between Pearl and
the rosebush that is in many chapters allows us to understand Pearl as more of a passionate person like
a rosebush than a result of a crime. Rosebushes have thorns and like Pearl has flaws it but they are
beautiful and pure.
An important part of this novel is placed in the forest. The forest is where Hester and Dimmesdale
meet and talk privately for the first time since the sin was committed. The forest symbolizes an escape
from rules and enters a place where chaos and magic is. This is where Pearl is free from society and
the isolation she experiences because of the rule and judgement in the town. Hester and Pearl as they
are walking through the forest notice gleams of sunshine shining through the clouds above them. Pearl
thinks the sunlight is hiding from Hester because of her sin and the letter she wears on her chest. Pearl,
being an innocent young girl, runs after the sunlight seeking to catch it, the light disappears from
Hester. The light that does not follow Hester represents that her sin follows her everywhere even in the
forest. Pearl says to Hester,

Executive Branch Essay
The comparison of a state with great plains and a state with mighty mountains seems unimaginable
but very possible, at least on governmental standpoint. The great state of Illinois and one of the
original state, North Carolina, have set up a state government very similar to the federal government
and similar to each other. Their comparisons and contrasts are most noticeable in the legislative and
executive branches.
There are three main parts of an executive branch; The president, the vice president, and the cabinet.
The president is the head of the U.S. executive branch, but in state executive branches the governor is
the head honcho. Every State in America has a governor that is the chief executive of the state,

legislative branch typically is a bicameral system. The only exception to this is the state of Nebraska
which only has a senate and not a house of representatives. The legislative power of the state of
Illinois is vested in the General Assembly, which is composed of a 59 member Senate and a 118
member House of Representatives. North Carolina s Senate has 50 members and their House of
Representatives has 120 members. After those blaring differences Illinois and North Carolina s
Legislature branches are quite similar. Their regular activities are enacting, amending or repealing
laws, passing resolutions, adopting appropriation bills and conducting inquiries on proposed
legislation. Both states legislation acts on amendments to the U.S. Constitution when they are
submitted by Congress, and proposes and submits amendments to the Illinois Constitution for
consideration by voter. During the scenario of an impeachment, both states House of Representatives
has the sole power of impeachment, while the Senate serves as adjudicator. If a majority of the
members of the House vote to impeach, the case proceeds to the Senate for trial. The Senate cannot
impose any punishment on an impeached and convicted office holder other than removal from office.
These two states show multiple similarities in the legislative branch and very few differences.
As anyone can tell the two great states of Illinois and North Carolina have many similarities and
differences in their legislative and executive branches of state government. Overall, one thing is sure

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Jury Trial
This essay will be looking at the advantages and disadvantages of the jury trial. Jury trial is a legal
proceeding where a jury makes a decision, which then direct the actions of a judge. The members of a
jury are a group of independent citizens. They have no interest in the case before them, nor is their
judgment coloured by regular experience of the business of the court. They are twelve individuals,
often with no prior contact with the courts, who are chosen at random to listen to evidence and decide
upon matters affecting the reputation and liberty of those charged with criminal offences. The jury has
always been drawn from sections of society but has been made democratic only in the last half
century. And now almost all citizen of the United Kingdom are eligible to serve on a jury. But the
percentage of criminal cases actually tried by jury is surprisingly low. Nowadays the magistrates
courts deal with at least 95 per cent of criminal cases. In practice juries determine the outcome of less
than 1 per cent of the total of the criminal cases. But still the idea of trial by jury has always been seen
as a cornerstone of the English legal system , and it remains the standard mode of trial for dealing with
the most serious types of criminal case. But even though it is established and been in practice for
years, people seem to believe that there are disadvantages to jury trails. Nonetheless, the jury system is
becoming increasingly controversial. Critics claim that

The clinical presentation is a severe right lower quadrant pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite,
fever, or constipation. Therefore, during a good physical examination, it is important to rule out by
looking for positive psoas signs and rebound tenderness. Appendicitis is a medical emergency which
requires immediate surgery to remove the appendix before burst, or eventually perforate into the
abdominal cavity that can be fetal if left untreated (Singer, Thode Singer, 2016).
Trauma Patient who is pregnant or may be suspicion of pregnancy has increased risk of being victims
of domestic violence. Therefore, the stress of being victim of domestic violence may cause irregular

from the inflicted trauma, but also from somatization of stress. Some clinical presentation includes
bruises of various colors, due to different stages of healing, which can be seen on any part of the body,
but especially on the abdomen and can cause trauma to the fetus, especially because it is less visible to

The Unconventional Kate Chopin Essays
The Unconventional Kate Chopin
Kate Chopin, a female author in the Victorian Era, wrote a large number of short stories and poems.
She is most famous for her controversial novel The Awakening in which the main character struggles
between society s obligations and her own desires. At the time The Awakening was published, Chopin
had written more than one hundred short stories, many of which had appeared in magazines such as
Vogue. She was something of a literary lioness in St. Louis and had numerous intellectual admirers.
Within weeks after publication of The Awakening, this social landscape that had appeared so serenely
comfortable became anything but serene and anything but comfortable.
Of all things, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the Civil War broke out, Kate s brother George joined the Confederate Army. Kate s sentiments
followed after the protection of her brother, and she became the littlest rebel in St. Louis (Thornton 2).
Because of Kate s feelings about the Union, it shouldn t be too surprising that some of those
sentiments survived into her adulthood. In much of her work, beginning with At Fault and continuing
through such stories as For Marse Chouchoute, and The Benitous Slave, the black characters are
portrayed as simple, childlike, and mindlessly devoted to their masters (Thornton 6). Even in Desiree s
Baby (perhaps Chopin s best known short work), racial injustice is a necessary background against
which Chopin stages her deadly dramatic irony.
Between 1889 and 1894, many of Kate s famous works were written and published. Many of these
were beginning to appear in familiar magazines across the country, making Chopin a nationally known
author. A collection of short stories, Bayou Folk, was published. This famous series earned her
glowing reviews and a great amount of literary success. The Story Of an Hour was written shortly
after. This is one of Chopin s most unforgettable stories. Though Chopin herself never complained
about her marriage, it is surely significant that this story about the fantasized freedom of a woman
should come to her in the rush of literary success.

what your body needs.
Article:
If you re in the gym and feeling exhausted, it may not simply boil down to a strenuous workout.
Muscle pain and fatigue can happen even before the burn takes over. In fact, fatigue and muscle stress
can happen because of underlying conditions. That s where apple cider vinegar can help. Just one

Malic acid in the vinegar is able to dissolve the uric acid crystals within the joint and assist in flushing
them from the body. For an added boost add your ACV to tart cherry juice. Tart cherry juice may be
sour to taste, but it provides a higher number of anthocyanins compared to sweet cherry juice.
Anthocyanins promote anti inflammatory processes in the body according to Healthline. This health
combination also helps post workout recovery. Cherry juice is naturally high in potassium, which
triggers electrical impulses throughout the body.
Your acid reflux will go away
ACV may help prevent morning acid reflux from rearing its ugly head. Exercise can trigger heartburn
if your esophageal sphincter is weak or too relaxed. Or, if food or stomach acid burps back up into
your esophagus. All that moving and shaking with too much spicy foods, acidic foods, sodas, coffee,
chocolate and alcohol in your gut may be the catalyst. But ACV could help improve acid reflux if you
re not taking medications, and with minimal risk. A study from Arizona State University found that
raw or unfiltered apple cider vinegar may help prevent heartburn. It s generally safe to consume a
small amount of apple cider vinegar before your workout, but it should be diluted with water suggests
HealthLine. You can also add a little raw honey to the mix to help improve the taste.
Weight loss may be accelerated

Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK
A Plan Of Investigation

influenced Oswald to assassinate the President, the scope of the investigation will focus on Lee

the actions of previous life events. Only secondary sources about the assassination will be used in this
examination.

In Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the purpose of the reading is
to present evidence surrounding the JFK assassination because it has been taken over by conspiracy
theories which will continue unless someone makes the facts of the situation known, in which case
Bugliosi did so in that the conspiracy thoughts can be put to rest. This book s limitations include the
fact that since there is mention about conspiracy and some analytical thought in addition to the cold,
hard facts, one must be careful to pull out only the facts, so that they themselves can analyze the
presented information.
The origin of James McKinley s book was written just a little more than ten years after JFK s
assassination. It is a book compiled of the accounts of 12 famous political figures in American
History. In Assassination in America, the purpose of the reading is to examine the complex
circumstances surrounding the assassination by recreating the background and drama encompassing
the murder. The value of Assassination in America is that it was written just ten years after Kennedy s
assassination, so one is able to recall details more precisely, giving a more accurate account than a
book written fifty years after the event. The limitations of McKinley s book include the fact that his
book not only includes details about Kennedy s assassination, but also the accounts of other well
known assassinations in our history.

Trust During Hell s Trauma
Trust During Hell s Trauma The story swan song by Robert McCammon is a post apocalyptic novel
about the survivors who are now in the aftermath of the nuclear blast. This was during the Cold War
that took place in America has been between America and Russia. It gives a perspective of what s it s
like to be in the middle of a traumatic tragedy. There were some who were lucky to survive the
tragedy, but there was something they needed to have, which was to trust, the survivors needed to trust
that they make it through. Trust is a needful thing even though it has been a hard thing to get and to
establish. Trust was difficult due to their inner personal troubles two of them had some relatable
reasons. Swan had an abusive stepfather not only to her, but Darlene is known as Uncle Tommy. An
abusive jerk when he was drunk and even accusing Darlene as McCammon states, what am I supposed
to do? Just smile as you go out drinking and gambling money I earn? That money was supposed to go
to our rent on the damned trailer and buy us some groceries, and by God you just went and threw it
away, just threw it . This was just him drunk talking and an example of Uncle Tommy s accusation.ch3

  • 2. Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Observation On April 28, 2017, I attended the School of Music s Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The program last about two hours and had a ten minute intermission. This non ticketed event was held at Morgan Hall in the Bailey Performing Arts Center on Kennesaw State University s Kennesaw campus. The program consisted of three unique musical pieces performed by the renowned Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Before the concert began, I was able to observe the audience members outside of the entrance doors. Unlike the other Kennesaw State concerts that I attended, there was an extremely large and diverse crowd dressed formally. The doors opened fifteen minutes before the concert began and an usher escorted me to the second row in front of the stage. As the performance began, felt a formal and prestigious atmosphere within the crowd. I began to copy my neighbor s etiquette in order to fit in with the audience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The orchestra performed passionately and precisely with perfect synchronization. The dramatic crescendos and decrescendos really brought out the emotions of each piece. The first piece performed was called Don Juan (1888 1889) and started off fast paced and suspenseful. Composed by Richard Strauss (1864 1949), the piece had a lot of dissonance within it. There were times when the piece would slow down gradually then suddenly speed up, returning back to its original pacing. Each instrumental section could be heard precisely and no one section overwhelmed another. The conductor stood out the most during the performance and excellently controlled the pacing and tone of the piece. His exotic movements seemed excessive at first, but I began to realize that he was simply passionate about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Love For Music Started The Delicate Music My love for music began before I was even born. In the womb, I listened to music. My mom was like any typical first baby mom, that lets their baby listen to classical and instrumental music. I listened that beautiful, delicate music, before I set foot on this earth. I loved all the sound of instruments deep and high play together, to make a masterpiece. This is when my love for music started to bloom. When I reached about 5th grade, we had to choose what type of ensemble we wanted to be apart of. The choices were choir and band. Of course, I chose band, the problem was I didn t know what I wanted to play. Before we were put into the class, we had the opportunity to choose what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I prayed that this instrument was the one. I took a nice long, deep breath and blew almost all the air in my lungs, into the wooded recorder. A loud squeak, exploded from the instrument. I jump, not expected to play such a disgusting sound. I giggled, and so did the teacher. He suggested that I blow less air, to get a better sound. I position my lips back on to the mouthpiece, and blew a less amountq of air, so I wouldn t get that volger sound again. Then I heard it. My first note! The sound trickled from the instrument into the room, filling it with my beautiful sound. Suddenly, that sound formed it that horrific squeak I heard the first time. I giggled harder, and so did the teacher. This is one. , he stated to my mother how was standing next to the chair I was sitting on. I had forgot she was there for a second. This was my first step into the music I had always listen to. Now, I could be the one making it. As time went, I grew as a musician. When 7th grade came around the corner, my conductor stated the a competition was going on called, The Solo Ensemble Festival. In the competition, you could play with another person, which would be an ensemble, or a solo. I heard about it in 6th grade, but you couldn t sign up to be in it, until you were in 7th grade. This gave me the opportunity to show off my talent. I ask a couple of my friend if they wanted to play with me in the solo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The religion I have chosen to speak about is Islam and how these problems are being alleviated and how it all started for Dr. Sakena Yacoobi. • 5. Career As A Certified Public Accountant As the accounting profession continued to grow throughout the state of Texas, the Texas State Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) formed the central chapter in 1911, composed of a group of 17 public accountants and six junior staff accountants. After several years of the TSCPA requesting a regulatory board for the accounting profession, the state legislature approved the Public Accountancy Act of 1915. According to this act, a candidate wishing to pursue a career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) would be required to pass the board certified examination and receive a certificate indicative of the holder s fitness to serve the public as a competent and properly qualified accountant in public practice, and to prevent those who have no such certificate from using such titles or initials. Throughout the years, the Act was amended several times to accommodate for the ever changing society and economy, and to take advancements in technology into consideration. As a result of technological advancements, an increasing number of colleges and universities offer online programs for students who cannot find the time in their hectic schedules for a traditional classroom setting, which is highly beneficial for people to obtain a degree while continuing to work or pursue other interests. However, online accounting programs may have a negative impact upon students wishing to earn an accounting degree with the hopes of passing the CPA exam and beginning a career within ... • 6. Murder And A Meal Lab Report Essay Garrett Stewart Mr. Dinunzio Honors Biology 22 November 2016 Murder and a Meal Lab Report The purpose of this lab was to test different substances using various procedures to see what biomolecules were present and ultimately find out what restaurant Anna Lyza had eaten at before she died. For the first control test, we used vegetable oil to test for lipids. So, if the solution does not contain lipids, it does not become translucent when placed onto a paper bag square and held up to a light. So, it is a negative result. However, in the presence of lipids, the solution will become translucent when placed onto a paper bag square and held up to a light. Therefore in this case, the result is positive. On the other hand, we used albumin egg to test for proteins in another control test. If the solution does not contain proteins, it will not experience any color change and so it is a negative result. When there are proteins existing in the solution, it will turn bluish/purplish and for this reason it is a positive result. Furthermore in the third control test, we used dextrose to test for simple carbohydrates such as glucose. If the solution does not contain simple carbohydrates, it will not undergo any color change and will remain a blue color. So, it is a negative result in this circumstance. If there are simple carbohydrates present in the solution, the solution will turn reddish and so the result is positive. For the last control test, we used starch solution to test ... Everywhere we look, there is some kind of sporting event going on or being televised. Almost everyone could be considered a fan of at least one sport. Some people follow sports like a religion. With such an increased focus on sports, the athlete s performances are put under a microscope. This puts more pressure on athletes to give a winning performance. (Miserandino, 1998, p. 287) Athletes can also suffer greatly from anxiety and stress. (Holm, Beckwith, Ehde, Tinius, 1995, p. 463) Any of these conditions can be detrimental to ones competitive ability. Techniques such as mental imagery training and relaxation techniques can be used to attack problems in these areas. (McKenzie, Howe, 1997, p. 196) Marianne Miserandino s research was focused on failure, and why athletes believe that they don t accomplish their goals. She learned that starting at young age, athletes are told that failure comes from their lack of ability. This is called learned helplessness. (Miserandino, 1998, p. 287) In her study she approached this problem by splitting her subject into two groups. One group received feedback about their shooting techniques and were told that lack of effort was the reason for missed shots, not lack of ability. The other group received only feedback on their techniques. After her 4 week study was done, the group that received the positive reinforcement showed more mastery of the skills and greater improvement than their counterparts. (Miserandino, 1998 p. 286) Another study also used basketball free throws as the basis for its study. Craig Wrisberg and Mark Anshel did this study. It looks at the effectiveness of applying cognitive techniques to improve performance of shooting free throws. (Wrisberg, Anshel, 1989, p. 95) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Young children learn through play and interacting with people. If we want bright, intelligent, and active children with phenomenal imaginations we have to take and make time to play with them and turn the media off. Play allows children to learn, the wiring connections in their brains depends on them playing, imagining and interacting with human beings. Play prepares them for real life. It s where children work out their problems in order to deal with life. If children spend their time in front of screens and interacting with media then it is not spent in play and the various brain connections are not being connected, resulting in learing and attention problems. Children also learn from moving and doing. When they are interacting with media they are usually not moving and doing. During a 2year longitudinal study where media exposure was recorded, both violent and educational, were found and associated with physical aggression, verbal aggression and relational aggression according to the gender of the children. It was determined that media exposure predicted various types of aggression and prosocial behavior according to gender. An evaluation will then be made to determine whether the duty of care the police owe to protect individuals from a known threat should be legally recognised. The common law duty of care was established in Donoghue v Stevenson [1932] AC 562 (HL) and refined in Caparo Industries plc v Dickman [1990] 2 AC 605 (HL). Any party including public authorities may owe a duty of care to another if particular conditions are fulfilled. However, there is an exception, a duty is owed if proximity is established as demonstrated in Home Office v Dorset Yacht Co Ltd [1970] UKHL 2. Lord Bingham did not agree that the policy arguments established in Hill and subsequently followed in Brooks to be appropriate in the context of Smith. In Smith he attempted to introduce a liability principle . The principle proposed that where evidence is credible and the threat is specific and imminent, reasonable steps must be taken to assess such a threat and act where necessary. He did not agree that adopting the principle would induce defensive practices, neither did he agree that accepting the principle would detract from the police s primary functions. The liability principle reflected the content of Article 2 European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), Right to life. Following the signing of the ECHR, the United Kingdom introduced the Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA 1998). Under s6(3)(a) HRA 1998, the courts are now considered a public body, therefore no decisions they make can affect the guaranteed rights of any individual under ECHR. • 10. Cinderella And Cinderell Two Versions Of Cinderella I m sure you all remember watching or reading the tales of Cinderella as a child. I know I do, I grew up wearing plastic heels and itchy princess dresses wishing for my dream prince. Through reading various versions of this magical tale, however, I have been struck by the different cultural values represented in the story and how that differed with the Disney version I grew up with. Two versions of the story that stood out to me were The Little Glass Slipper by Charles Perrault and perhaps one the earliest versions, Yeh Shen, an Asian fairy tale written by Duan Cheng Shi. But before we dive into these mystical tales, ask your fairy godmother for a sparkly gown and a pair of glass slippers, because we have a ball to attend. The Little Glass Slipper, written by Charles Perrault in 1697 is commonly known to have laid the ground work for the Disney version of Cinderella. This folktale came about in 17th century Paris which is where it receives its original tile Cendrillon. The tale encompasses many cultural values that evidently link back to the time in which it was written. The story represents French values of society, monarchy and the significance of beauty to men as well as women. This tale represents the social classes of the 17th century in the matter that it differentiates between the upper class and the lower class. Like the step mother in the tale, upper class women often were selfish and took charge of the family. Cinderella on the other hand was not so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Winning the Pulitzer Prize for literature and many other literary accolades, McCarthy took the world by storm with his gritty realism and sparse use of literature. His success eventually lead to the movie adaptations of two of his most praised novels, No Country for Old Men and The Road. These two works displayed McCarthy s style and plot structure very well, even though his writing style is predominantly unconventional . However, contrary to the irregular style of literature, both movies received great praise from critics and fans for being so loyal to the source material, although, screenwriters and directors deviates from the source material ... Considering the one of the main themes is about the end of humanity both physically and psychologically, the narrative is wrought with brutality, hardships, and terror. For the entire duration of the novel and movie, the father has accepted the idea that he would kill the son to save him from capture if they were captured by cannibal men. In one portion of the novel, the protagonist come across a house with a basement room filled with naked people, male and female, all trying to hide, shielding their faces with their hands (110). They run out off the house seeing that there is a group of cannibals approaching. In the film, the father and son are trapped in the house with the cannibals who are unaware of their presence. Fearing that they would be captured and tortured to death, the father ends up pressing the gun in the son s head and cocking it when he is almost certain that they would be found. This is where the movie shows cinema s advantage over print. Possibly the bleakest scene in the movie is when this occurs because the raw emotion the father and son exhibit on screen when they are coming to terms with the worse possible outcome is both gut wrenching and unmatched by McCarthy s writing. The novel, however, is overall much more grim and depressing due to scenes that were cut out in the movie version. For example, there is a point in the book where the protagonists witness a woman giving birth only to find a charred human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some believe that it is necessary to control migration in the UK, as they believe that too many immigrants could lead to overpopulation, unemployment and housing shortages. It is commonly believed that migration should be controlled, as migrants come over to our country and take our benefits ; however this is not necessarily factually correct. People also worry that public money has to be spent on meeting the everyday needs of the immigrants and their families, for example housing, schools and healthcare. Many UK citizens are not in permanent housing as of yet due to the fact that there is a shortage of council owned houses, therefore we should perhaps focus on permanently housing those who like in the UK before allowing migrants to live in council owned houses. The Four Major Aspects Of The Mabling Values Framework The competing values framework is a theory that was initially created from Quin s research that was carried out on the major indicators of effective organisations. Stability, control, flexibility and change (adaptation) was the theorist s preference when composing this structure within the framework. Doing so added additional dimensions in this organisational cultures theory. The four major models that comprise of the competing values framework are the Humans relations Model, the Open Systems Model, Rational Goal Model and the Internal Process Model. It is through these four fundamental models that this theory develops its main cultures which are the clan culture, the adhocracy culture, the market culture and lastly the hierarchy culture. The majority of these sectors are run by civilians now who are paid hourly. Some of them might be working on a day off because a Soldier made an appointment with them. That right there cost the Army money that would have otherwise been saved. Now that the Soldier missed the appointment they caused the Army to waste a certain amount of money that could have been used for another area. Now let s look at the math. If you have ten Soldiers that each make an appointment and each person they are suppose to see has an average hourly wage of thirteen dollars an hour and each work an eight hour day when they where suppose to be off that comes out to $104 per person. Now ten employees multiplied by $104 comes out too $1040. If all ten soldiers miss their appointments you can see the amount of money that was wasted because ten Soldiers decided not to show up. That also comes out to almost $400,000 over the course of the year. Just imagine if that happened every at every installation. The cost would be astronomical. The Importance Of Play With Toys With the amount of time children spend playing with toys, every parent or legal guardian of a child should be more prudent with the toys their children to play with. Playing is important to children. Play is one of the main ways children learn and toys are tools that help encourage that. Play with toys is extremely beneficial in ways people fail to realize. For example toys help teach motor skills and social skills and help them build creativity and exercise their muscles. Creativity in children is also developed during play. Children who get time off other duties to play become more attentive especially in their schoolwork. Leaving children to initiate their own kind of games, gives them room to become more creative as opposed to when they are supervised by an adult (Goldstein, 2012, p.13). The toys children play with affect their own interests and skills as a person during childhood, which influences their characteristics as a person in adulthood. First and foremost, play is essential to a child s development. Play is so important to optimal child development that it has been recognized by the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights as a right of every child (Play and Childrens, n.d.). • 29. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Jury Trial This essay will be looking at the advantages and disadvantages of the jury trial. Jury trial is a legal proceeding where a jury makes a decision, which then direct the actions of a judge. The members of a jury are a group of independent citizens. They have no interest in the case before them, nor is their judgment coloured by regular experience of the business of the court. They are twelve individuals, often with no prior contact with the courts, who are chosen at random to listen to evidence and decide upon matters affecting the reputation and liberty of those charged with criminal offences. The jury has always been drawn from sections of society but has been made democratic only in the last half century. And now almost all citizen of the United Kingdom are eligible to serve on a jury. But the percentage of criminal cases actually tried by jury is surprisingly low. Nowadays the magistrates courts deal with at least 95 per cent of criminal cases. In practice juries determine the outcome of less than 1 per cent of the total of the criminal cases. But still the idea of trial by jury has always been seen as a cornerstone of the English legal system , and it remains the standard mode of trial for dealing with the most serious types of criminal case. • 31. The Unconventional Kate Chopin Essays The Unconventional Kate Chopin Kate Chopin, a female author in the Victorian Era, wrote a large number of short stories and poems. She is most famous for her controversial novel The Awakening in which the main character struggles between society s obligations and her own desires. At the time The Awakening was published, Chopin had written more than one hundred short stories, many of which had appeared in magazines such as Vogue. She was something of a literary lioness in St. Louis and had numerous intellectual admirers. Within weeks after publication of The Awakening, this social landscape that had appeared so serenely comfortable became anything but serene and anything but comfortable. Of all things, ... Kate s sentiments followed after the protection of her brother, and she became the littlest rebel in St. Louis (Thornton 2). Because of Kate s feelings about the Union, it shouldn t be too surprising that some of those sentiments survived into her adulthood. In much of her work, beginning with At Fault and continuing through such stories as For Marse Chouchoute, and The Benitous Slave, the black characters are portrayed as simple, childlike, and mindlessly devoted to their masters (Thornton 6). Even in Desiree s Baby (perhaps Chopin s best known short work), racial injustice is a necessary background against which Chopin stages her deadly dramatic irony. Between 1889 and 1894, many of Kate s famous works were written and published. Many of these were beginning to appear in familiar magazines across the country, making Chopin a nationally known author. A collection of short stories, Bayou Folk, was published. This famous series earned her glowing reviews and a great amount of literary success. The Story Of an Hour was written shortly after. This is one of Chopin s most unforgettable stories. Though Chopin herself never complained about her marriage, it is surely significant that this story about the fantasized freedom of a woman should come to her in the rush of literary success.
