Granite Apparel
Qualitative Analysis Long Term Debt The advantage of a long term debt financing option, in this case,
is the attractive rate of interest Metropolitan Life is willing to offer. However, their offer comes with
some conditions: An upfront free of 200,000 common shares is required. In terms of operations, the
capital budget would not be able to exceed the forecasted budget. No acquisitions could be made
without the approval of Metropolitan Life. No change could be made to the current compensation
packages of the firm s executives until 50% of the debt was repaid. Their debt equity ratio would be
constrained to 1.20. They would not be able to raise any more debt without the insurance company s

However, if Granite were to offer an IPO, they would have to undergo a thorough process of
examining all financial records, operations by the investment bank who was willing to underwrite the
offer as well as the securities commission, responsible of examining every IPO. The process would
take around three to six months. As well, the company would have to issue an additional six million
shares to cover the $50 million investment required. The advantage of a IPO is the ability to acquire
the necessary funds easily, which is something to consider if in the future the company would like to
expand or had a project that needed indispensable funds than the company had available right away. It
seems that the option of IPO is the better fit for the company. This type of financing would allow not
giving up too much control. It would also require them to act in the best interest of their shareholders.
These shareholders would want to see the stock price increase and make a better return on their

attract future investors, the initial public offering seems to be the best option for the company at the

Third Degree Burns Term Papers
Abstract
First, second, and third degree burns are three different types of burns, each one depending on the
severity of damage to the skin; with first degree being the most minor and third degree being the most
brutal. Damage for each includes: first degree burns: red, non blistered skin; second degree burns:
blisters and some thickening of the skin; third degree burns: widespread thickness with a white,
leathery appearance. There is also a fourth degree burn. In which, the damage of third degree burns
extends beyond the skin into the tendons and bones. Tissue destruction caused by a burn injury leads
to many local and systemic problems such as fluid and protein loss, sepsis, changes to immune,
endocrine, and hematologic functioning. The extent of local and systemic problems depends on the ...

First degree burns are usually treated with products such as Aloe Vera cream or an antibiotic ointment
and simple pain medications such as over the counter Tylenol. Second degree burns can be treated
with an ointment prescribed by a doctor or an antibiotic cream. The treatment of third degree burns
may require skin grafting. Severe burns covering large parts of the body may need more lengthened
types of treatment and intensive interventions such as IV fluids to replace fluids lost when skin was
burned and IV antibiotics to prevent infection. Burn pain is difficult to control because of its changing
patterns, various components, and distinctive characteristics. Pain management is adjusted to the
persons tolerance for pain. Interventions for pain include drug therapy which usually requires opioid
and non opioid medication; alternative and complementary therapy which includes relaxation
techniques, music therapy, guided imagery, and meditative breathing; and environmental changes such
as providing a quiet environment. There is also pain involved in the treatment of burns because the
wounds need to be cleaned and the dressings

The Winter Season Is The Worst Of Seasons
The winter season is the worst of seasons. This is my opinion and it s strong. I am not sure if it s the
fact that I don t have enough meat on my bones to retain heat (especially on my fingertips and toes), or
that with winter comes seasonal depression, and everyone around me including myself gets in these
bad moods, and it seems like there is always something wrong. It may be the fact that bad things tend
to happen to me during this season; all I know is, me and winter just do not get along. I remember one
dreadful winter in particular. My family had just finished decorating the inside of our house with
festive christmas pieces. We have this Santa Claus heirloom that sings and dances to Jingle Bell Rock

Obviously we were in an emergent situation, but things weren t moving at an emergent speed. The
road conditions that evening weren t particularly safe and my mom didn t trust our little mazda six on
the short trip to the hospital. We decided to wait for my dad to come home from work so we could use
his much more trusty truck. As we were waiting, I noticed my brother s face and I could tell that the
anticipation of my father s arrival was killing him: I knew, he knew, we all knew, he would be getting
a world famous father son you did something very wrong talks. When my dad did get home, my
brother fled to his room so fast, you could still see the outline of his quivering body in the dust behind

Social Class And Family Relationships
We all have a family, but we all have grown up in a different way. Social class plays a huge role in
family life. Three of the connections between social class and family include kin, child rearing, and
education levels. To begin, kin is a part of the family, but there is a difference between kin ship among
the poor and near poor. Kin is an important part of the family life because it is the connection between
family and, sometimes, wealth. Who people associate in times of need and support greatly influence
their lives and surroundings. In families, the father is seen as the main economic contributor and in
crisis, a loss of a job, his authority will drop. This isn t the only loss he will face, he will also have a
decreased self respect and other family members will treat him with less respect. On the contrary, if
women were to lose her job, there wouldn t be the same treatment. In areas of chronic poverty, young
mothers rely less on marriage and more on other kinship ties for support (Cherlin, 2013, p. 127). The
poor is more likely to reach out or support more distant relatives than the other social classes. There is
yet another difference between the nonpoor. The core of kinship among the nonpoor in the United
States has been the conjugal family of wife, husband, and children (Cherlin, 2013, p. 128). Parents of
the higher social class are expected to provide for themselves and their children first and foremost.
Any savings handed down are concentrated to their

Texas Constitution
Comparing and Contrasting the Texas and U.S Constitutions
The Texas Constitution (1876) as well as the United States Constitution (1791) have a plethora of
similarities conceptually, as they are both rooted with the same ideologies of democracy. However,
what sets these two documents apart is that the Texas constitution goes into more depth on laws and
how its government works. In contrast, the US Constitution is more vague allowing it to be a far more
timeless and living document. This paper will be comparing and contrasting these four provisions
from the U.S and Texas Constitutions: The Bill of Rights, amending the constitution, the legislative
branch, and the executive branch. The Bill of Rights is one of the many provisions ... Show more

The Executive branch is seen as the head of all three branches and is the one that we believe holds the
most power. The Texas Constitution and the U.S Constitution give the powers that this branch obtains.
In this branch both the Governor of Texas and President of the U.S are given powers, such as minimal
removal powers, military powers, message powers, and of course veto powers. Both of the executive
bodies also have a line of succession which is put into effect when either the Governor of Texas or the
President of the United States is impeached. That brings me to the contrast found in the constitutions
when it comes to impeachment, in the National government there are very specific reasons to why the
President would be impeached, for example treason would be one of those. The Texas Constitution
gives the power to impeach the Governor but there are no written out reasons as to what is an
impeachable offense, the House of Representatives decide what is impeachable. Adding on to the
differences between the two the executive body leaders have different qualifications when it comes to
running for that position, to become Governor you have to be 30 years old

Hip Flexor Moment Lab Report
From cite{aus} and cite{childers2012measurement} the biomechanics of the hip is studied. When
we walk, during the initial contact the hip moves towards extension. However once the heel contacts
the ground range of extension reduces. With short stump it stays in flexion.
The peak hip extension occurs late as compared to a normal gait which is $~65%$ stride c/w $55%$.
This happens as an attempt to increase the step length of the intact limb when no prosthetic push off is
present. The work of the concentric hip extensor is to create the hip extensor moment. This hip
extensor moment is also seen to be higher than in the case of normal gait. This is prominent in the first
half of the stance where extension of the knee an d the hip happens. ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
The tendency seen is higher power generation in shorter period of time in comparison with normal.
The power required to lift a prosthesis may only be $30 40%$ of the weight of a normal limb and it is
this power generated in short period of time. The hip torque required during preswing and early swing
is observed to be less in knees with damping and stance resistance. This is due more anteriorally
aligned knee axis. This is required to increase the extension moment during heel contact. But at the
same time, due to this alignment initiating flexion in preswing and early swing is a challenge.
During late swing the range of hip flexion is observed to be greater than normal that is at all walking
speeds. Also the amount of hip flexor activity was observed to be higher. These factors however
increase the step length. By keeping the hip flexing the extending knee can be decelerated to reduce
terminal impact.
%Some amputees with constant friction knees transitioned from hip flexion, to extension, to flexion
again, possibly to assist in knee extension by reversing the direction of the thigh.

Essay on Explaination of Thermodynamics
A Layman s Explanation of Two Laws of Thermodynamics
Energy is encountered in many forms, such as mechanical, chemical (food and fuel), electrical,
nuclear, heat, and radiant (light). Energy has the ability to bring about change or to do work.
Thermodynamics is the study of energy. The field of thermodynamics studies the behavior of energy
flow in natural systems. These studies have rendered two laws of thermodynamics.
The first law of thermodynamics is also known as the law of conservation of energy. This law suggests
that energy can be transferred from one system to another in many forms. Also, it cannot be created or
destroyed, (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2012).
Ultimately, the total amount of energy available is a constant. Einstein s ... Show more content on

The laws of thermodynamics and how they are regarded in terms of energy are as such: the first law
pretty much indicates that you can t get something for nothing and the second law pretty much
indicates that you cannot break even; energy will be lesser than it was before the transfer. The first law
governs the quality of energy available from an energy conversion process, whereas the second law
governs the quality of the energy available. According to the first law, we will never run out of energy,
but according to the second law, we can run out of high quality (useful) energy. The second law also
tells us that high quality energy can never be used again. In terms easily understood, not only can we
not get something for nothing (the first law), but we cannot ever break even in terms of energy quality
(the second law). In this we can realize that we can recycle matter, but we can never recycle high
quality energy.

Two Minutes Of Hate In 1984 By George Orwell
In a key scene during the exposition of the novel 1984, the Party has their Two Minutes of Hate. All of
the Outer Party members are violently yelling and releasing their built up anger. The Party members
rage is directed towards Goldstein who is the supposed leader of the rebellious group called the
Brotherhood. The chosen excerpt is during Winston s explanation of Two Minutes of Hate and
Goldstein s speech. Orwell establishes the power of blame through the Party s demonstration of
Goldstein and the Brotherhood. Orwell exploits the theme through Winston s inner monologue about
Goldstein during Two Minutes of Hate. One instance is Winston s diaphragm was constricted. He
could never see the face of Goldstein without a painful mixture of emotion (Orwell 12.) Winston
explains how he was taught to loathe Goldstein. Winston grew up before the Party was in power, but
the Party has managed to persuade Winston to instinctually fear and hate Goldstein. Additionally,
Orwell continues to display the Party s power through Winston by describing Goldstein s speech as so
exaggerated and perverse that a child should have been able to see through it, and yet just plausible
enough to fill one with an alarmed feeling that other people, less level headed than oneself, might be
taken by it (Orwell 12.) Winston initially describes how the Party has misled him to believe to hate
Goldstein. Later, Winston continues to describe how everyone else sees Goldstein. Some people use
him to express

Inclusion of Games in National Education Curriculum Essay
Inclusion of Games in National Education Curriculum
The inclusion of games in the national curriculum for physical education, provide children with a wide
range of benefits, which can lead to increased physical and mental development through sport. Team
games have recently been emphasised in the national curriculum, with a privileged status for games
establishing within the activity based framework of the national curriculum (Williams, 2000). It is a

Key stage 1 states that pupils should be taught that regular exercise improves health and how one
feels. In order to encourage children to further participate in physical activity, the child s experience
must be an enjoyable one. It is no use taking a large group of children and have them running around a
gym with no real aim or objective. This is reflected in key stage 2 when it states that children should
be taught that exercise can be fun and sociable. Williams (2000), states that P.E experiences need to be
fun, exciting, challenging and rewarding. Games can provide children with a variety of enjoyable and
challenging experiences, including working as a team member, appropriate competition and a variety
of different game situations. There is the argument however that time allocation for physical education
in schools is not enough to improve the physical fitness of a child. Siedentop (1994) states that time is
always limited, and students should get as much successful experience as possible. Although time
scale is restricted, if the experience is enjoyable, then it may lead to children seeking further
opportunities in sport.
As well as developing and encouraging a physically active lifestyle, games is

How Does Brutus Use Logos In Killing Caesar
Brutus use of logos in his funeral speech was ineffective because they were logical fallacies and were
not supported by solid facts. Brutus thought that Caesar s nature would change after he obtained more
power and authority, and that keeping Caesar around would be very catastrophic, since he could turn
his back against his people any time. In Brutus funeral speech, he tried to convince the Plebeians that
Caesar was too ambitious, was a threat to the Roman Republic, and will cause the Plebeians to
become suppressed and enslaved. As Brutus said to the Plebeians, Had you rather Caesar were living
and die all slaves, than that Caesar dead, to live all free men (III.ii.24 26)? In this quote, Brutus

One the one hand, the fertility of the industry opened the doors to corporations that sighted substantial
growth potential. New entrants with big pockets such as Walmart could pose a certain threat to
Netflix, by exploiting a playing card based on cost reduction. On the other hand, barriers to entry
became relatively significant as established video rental retailers such as Netflix have the experience
and the knowhow to market movies to people. In this industry, firms that do not have a technological
advantage can t compete. The best example is Netflix s CineMatch program that offered personalized
film recommendations based on customer s rental patterns. This way, Netflix was able to better serve
its subscribers. From a cost perspective, the movie rental industry requires high capital expenditures,
and the major expenses are highly related to acquisitions of DVD library and investments in
technology (exhibit 2 continued). Thus, we may say that entry is difficult in this industry as the
competing firms have reputation, experience and recognizable brand names. b) Bargaining power of

ABSTRACT
This paper examines current marketing trends in the alcoholic beverages industry that can impact the
public s health and safety. It is important for public health organizations to be aware of trends common
to the industry; this will inform and bolster their efforts as watchdogs to manufacturers and retailers of
alcohol. The analysis describes the critical elements of the marketing mix, and makes a clear
distinction between advertising and marketing. Advertising is an important part of the marketing mix;
however, there are several other tactics and tools employed by marketers in the industry to influence
consumer behaviour and to build strong brands. The paper reviews current trends in the alcoholic
beverages industry generally, drawing specifically on some examples from the global beer industry. In
the fight to increase market share, marketers will alter their marketing strategies in response to
industry trends, seeking synergies that may exist between sponsorship and promotion. The paper

There are millions of children breathing smoke in their home with second hand smoke and second

Smoking in vehicles with under age of 18 should ban the law and children whose parents smoke

Drunk Driving Du
Penalties against drunk drivers should be increased
If the current penalties for drunk driving are good enough, there should be far less alcohol related
accidents, but that is not the case. Deaths from alcohol related car accidents have dropped by a third in
the last three decades, but that is not enough considering the damage still being done. Every day
approximately 29 people in the United States die because of driving under the influence. The most
terrible part about this is when innocent people die because of the actions of another. I believe the
recurrence of DUI s are mainly caused by people who do not take the related dangers seriously and
look at the penalties as not that severe. The other reasons why people drink and drive are based on
several categories that relate to decision making. When all factors have combined the risk of drunk
driving increases. Penalties for drunk driving should be increased to help prevent more fatalities.
There is still a large number of traffic fatalities involving alcohol and this is not acceptable. Every two
hours, three people are killed in alcohol related highway crashes. The consequences of drinking and
driving are arrests, property damage, injuries, and thousands of deaths each year (Chambers 1). In
2010, there were about four million U.S adults reported for driving under the influence. Alcohol
related highway crashes accounted for 13,365 deaths in 2010, and to top that off, the alcohol related
accidents cost Americans an

Analysis Of Thomas Hardy s Of The D
Author Thomas Hardy is typically distinguished for following a trend in which all his fiction is
characterized by chance being the incarnation of the blind forces controlling human destiny. As J
Clipper once said, Hardy reflected Nietzsche s agonized cry that God is dead , in his novels. His view
of life was that since there is no God to give meaning to life, Man is alone in the Universe, no better
and no worse than other creatures who live or have lived for a brief moment on this speck called
Earth. The Universe and fate is essentially malevolent and benevolent. Hardy believes that God,
whether he once was once a presence or not, has disappeared entirely from the world. People are left
to defend themselves and cope in a society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tess is exposed to the cruelty of fate from the moment that God places her into the Durbyfield family.
Born into a poverty stricken and uneducated family, she is subject to the hardships that that entails.
Her Father an alcoholic and her Mother less of a woman than she is herself, her upbringing already
sets her apart from the rest of the world, and she recognizes her underprivileged condition. Did you
say the stars were worlds, Tess? Yes. All like ours? I don t know, but I think so. They sometimes seem
to be like the apples on our stubbard tree. Most of them splendid and sound a few blighted. Which do
we live on a Splendid one or a blighted one? A blighted one. (Hardy 54) Tess is raised in an
environment that encourages a belief in a kind of predetermination and fatality, demonstrated by the
fact that her mother often consults the complete fortune teller, an old book of astrological guidance.
Tess however has been educated, and thus does not subscribe to the same beliefs that her mother does.
In a similar way, Hardy uses Tess s father John Durbyfield to illustrate the power of fate to change one
s life. In chapter one, when John is told of the nobility that exists in their bloodline, he believes that
their life will soon be catastrophically changed. Don t you really know, Durbyfield, that you are the

Comparing A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Comparing A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
In the game of life man is given the options to bluff, raise, or fold. He is dealt a hand created by the
consequences of his choices or by outside forces beyond his control. It is a never ending cycle:
choices made create more choices. Using diverse, complex characters simmering with passion and
often a contradiction within themselves, Tennessee Williams examines the link of past and present
created by man s choices in A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Delicate Blanche, virile Stanley. Dynamic Maggie, impotent Brick. Williams protagonists are
distinctly different in temperament. In A Streetcar Named Desire Blanche exemplifies the
stereotypical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, Brick is cool and nonchalant. He wears the charm of the defeated to disguise his power.
Power isn t always brute force. Sometimes refusing to make choices is powerful. Forcing other to
make decisions and thus never shouldering the responsibility is a form of dominance. Brick proudly
proclaims Maggie laid down the law to me said now or never, and so I married Maggie (Williams, Cat
37). She has to accept a non sexual marriage or she has to be the one decide to leave. In the end
Maggie, wanting to sire an heir and secure her position in the family, forces Brick to make love to her.
He doesn t fight her off, but accepts meekly. It seems as if he isn t making choice, but by surrendering
he does not have to forgive Maggie or change the terms of their lifeless marriage. Brick, hiding his
anger behind a wall of indifference, is powerless and powerful.
The characters are neither saintly nor villainous but rather a combination of both, often a contradiction
within themselves. Blanche DuBois is Williams masterpiece of contradiction. The very name Blanche
DuBois suggests her duality (Cohn 46). She tells Mitch her name means white woods. Like an orchard
in spring (Williams, Street 55) But even her translation is a fantasy. Blanche is past her spring and she
no longer possesses the virtue associated with white (Cohn 46).

Epistemological Approach to Modern Artificial Intelligence
Modern Artificial Intelligence There are a number of contemporary goals for artificial intelligence.
This truth is in part related to the fact that many of the basic goals of artificial intelligence that were
initially conceived during the 20th century still have not been met. Many contemporary goals,
therefore, have descended from these initial goals, and have simply incorporated more specific
practices and uses for artificial intelligence. Essentially, the primary goal of contemporary artificial
intelligence is to create some sort of life form or machine that has the cognitive ability to make life
easier and more conventional for humans by performing and completing both complex and simple
tasks. The logic behind this goal is sufficiently denoted in the following quotation, in which the
principle ends of artificial intelligence are listed as efforts to develop an artificial entity that can learn
and make decision in a complex, changing environment, affect that environment, and communicate in
knowledge and choices to humans; that is, an entity that can think (Neapolitan, 2011, p. iii). In many
different respects, this particular goal of artificial intelligence, to create an entity that can think and
reason in a specific environment, has expanded with the scion of artificial intelligence known as
Artificial General Intelligence. Artificial General Intelligence was developed within the past decade,
and aims at a degree of specificity alluded to, yet not specifically

Literature Review On Theme Park
2.1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter presents the literature review which explains theme park features and introduce the
concept and dimension of service quality. This literature review research also shows some research on
the theme park products, and also determinants of service quality towards visitors intention to revisit.
These ideas were highlighted by Kotler (1994) and also Swarbrooke (1995).

Theme park can be defined as a place that provides facilities and landscape based on a particular
theme which offers other services, such as food, drinks, merchandising and often accommodation that

information and theme park details at the same time also sharing experiences with all visitors.
2.5 SERVICE QUALITY
Service quality has become a main idea for student academic to study in many industries especially in
hospitality industry. In Wilson et al (2008), service can be discussed in the terms of below four
characteristics:
Characteristics Description:

2. Inseparability Services are generally produced and consumed simultaneously. It is usually link the
provider and consumer when the service is being provided as both are part of service process. Both

Importance Of The Declaration Of Rights Of Man
The Declaration of Rights of Man, written on August 26th, 1789, granted French citizens fundamental
rights for the first time in France s history. This revolutionary document articulated the goals and
standards the French people sought for their new society, post revolution. The Declaration articulated
the ideas of the Enlightenment and offered fundamental protections for the common man. The
Declaration of Rights of Man was important to the French Revolution because it created citizens and
their rights, thereby ending absolute monarchy.
Before the Revolution, France s government, entitled the Ancien Régime, consisted of an absolute
monarchy. Under this system, no person had any rights. The people of France were not citizens, but
rather subjects of the King, at the mercy of his will. The King held all of the power with no legal
protections in place for the French people. For example, the First Estate, consisting of the clergy, and
the Second Estate, consisting of the nobility, paid no direct taxes. This provision existed because Louis
XIV had implemented a tax system that exempted these two estates. Therefore, the entire tax burden
of the country fell on the Third Estate, the common people. This unjust and disproportionate system
existed because the King s word was the law, with no legal means to appeal his decisions.
A major cause of the Revolution was the Third Estate s contempt with this unfair political system and
lack of legal means to change it. This contempt, in part,

Euthyphro, By Plato The Main Idea That Comes Up Is...
Seiji Hayashi
PHIL 3500
Chrisoula Andreou In Euthyphro, by Plato the main idea that comes up is socratic ignorance.
Euthyphro argues that he is the self proclaimed expert on the subject of piety and impiety. I could
argue in the position that, Euthyphro is claiming expertise in a subject that he doesn t know enough
about. This socratic ignorance is the idea of the dialogue. I have decided to take an extra argument in
this paper. I argue there is ignorance in both Socrates and Euthyphro. Although it s more difficult to
prove, I explain the situations of piety and impiety and how it is relative to each person and the time
period of the discussion. Bringing the background situation to show claims made by Euthyphro and
lack of evidence provided in this dialogue. The supporting claims I share after are on Euthyphro s side
of conversation. This determines his thoughts, on the definition of piety and unspoken details that I
have determined. Socrates also makes arguments that are known to be true, to Euthyphro through
comparison of different circumstances. This happens through Socrates and Euthyphro, use of asking
questions and questing answer, from what explained, based on the knowledge of Euthyphro. I use the
background of the whole dialogue, in pointing out flaws in the responses of both parties. I also bring
into aspect of the circumstance relative to the time period, and the nature of people s beliefs, in
religion. The background of the dialogue the important to the

The Visual Recognition Of Image Patterns
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1. Background to the Study
As a scientific discipline, computer vision is concerned with the extraction of information from
images to be employed in a decision making process. The image data can take many forms, such as
video sequences, still images, digitized maps, diagrams and sketches. These images may be in colour
format, grey scale or in binary format. The common approach is to extract characteristic features from
the image either in the spatial domain or in some suitable transform domain. Whether the goal is
classification or recognition, a measure of similarity or distance must be formulated and the success
rate of the system evaluated. Some of the application areas of computer vision are:
1.1.1. Robotics
The visual recognition of image patterns is a fundamental human attribute that uses the eye as a sensor
and dedicated parts of the brain as the decision making processor. The visual recognition enables
humans to perform a variety of tasks such as target identification, ease of movement, handling tools,
communication among others. Advances in sensing and visual perception techniques have enabled
some of these attributes to be transferred to robots. For example, identification of colour is a useful
asset in a robot in an industrial automation process that involves sorting. [1], [2], [3]
1.1.2. Industrial Inspection
Industrial inspection is an area in which pattern recognition is of importance. A pattern recognition
system captures images

Nicholas was known to be narrow minded and weak willed. He hated politics and was dominated by
his wife, Tsarina Alexandra. Marie Antoinette was not the only queen with a famous and powerful
woman in her family. Alexandra s grandmother was Queen Victoria of England. Alexandra saw herself
as English, not French, and she had no desire to even learn the Russian language. Both Alexandra and
Marie Antoinette were hated because they were outsiders who could not sympathize with their people.
The scandal of Rasputin, the Siberian peasant who wandered into St. Petersburg, declaring himself a
healer and holy man, was seen by Alexandra as her miracle. Her son Alexi had hemophilia and she
eternally blamed herself for his heredity disease. In reality, Rasputin actually was able to stop the
ceaseless bleeding, but their friendship, and rumored affair, severed her relationship with the Russian
people, who knew that Rasputin was not a holy man, but an exploiter. Known for attending parties,
taking drugs, and being quite popular with the Russian ladies, the people knew his true identity.
Alexandra refused to believe anyone who spoke against Rasputin. She not only took his medicinal
advice, but extended his influence to the politics of the country, passing his political advice on to
Nicholas. During World War I, when Nicholas had gone to the Western front, Rasputin was sitting in
on cabinet meetings and even dismissing officials. Rasputin s voice spoke loud, while the Russian

Income tax assessments are computed for a tax year of assessment. They are based on a taxpayer s
total income for the year from all sources and it does not include income exempt from income tax.
Taxable Persons
Persons resident in the UK for a tax year are charged to income tax on their total income for that year
(includes both income arising in the UK and income arising overseas). There are two exceptions to the
rule; some forms of income are fully exempt from income tax; and UK residents whose permanent
home is not in the UK may claim that the income they make overseas should be subject to UK income
tax only to the extent that the income is remitted to the UK. Non UK residents are allowed to pay
income tax on only their UK income. Income tax is payable by: * Adults, on their own income and on
their share of partnership income * Children, if they have sufficient income to pay tax * Trustees, on
the income of a trust or settlement * Personal representatives, on income arising from the estate of a
deceased person.
Some individuals and organisations are generally exempt from income tax subject to various

An Evaluation Of Conventional And Renewable Energy Sources
An evaluation of conventional and renewable energy sources in the UK 1. Introduction As the most
important type of energy, invented in the 1870s, the electricity has dominated the energy world for
more than one hundred year. The invention and application of electricity contributed to the second
peak of industrialization, which is undoubtedly one of the three science and technology revolutions
within human history since the 18th century. Subsequently, technology has changed human s life when
the large scale power system emerged in the 20th century. As one of the most remarkable
achievements in the history of science and human engineering, the large scale power system consists
of power generation, transmission, substation, power distribution and utilization. These individual
elements are combined together to form a vast, complicated and dynamic system which is competent
to generate, transmit, and distribute electricity over a large geographical area (Padiyar 2008).
Regarding the different components of power system, this essay concentrates on the most essential
stage of power system generation, (Padiyar 2008) with theoretical and numeral examples illustrated.
Different resources are used for power generation with various techniques utilizing the advantages of
the electrical sources. Precisely, conventional fossil fuels are reliable and productive and renewable
sources are clean and relatively infinite in terms of electricity generation. Normally, issues also exist

Portia And Calpurnia In Julius Caesar
Portia and Calpurnia in the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare were the wives of Brutus and
Caesar. They had many more privileges at that time than most women because they were the wives of
great noble Romans, and of course Calpurnia was the wife of the leader Julius Caesar. Since Brutus
wife, Portia, was the daughter of the successful leader Cato, she was a very powerful Roman. But,
they still were treated far from equals of their superior, their husbands. As wives of these specific
Romans, they were treated with much higher respect than most women were at that time. Portia as an
individual was described as pure in nature, youthful, and very beautiful. I believe that she took being a
Roman woman to be quite difficult, and felt very underappreciated because of it. She wanted to show
Brutus that she was worthy of his trust and to prove her worth to him, she cut open her thigh. She
expresses her feelings of being his wife and a Roman women at that time in part of her monologue;
Therefore fear not, but tell me all you are concealing from me, for neither fire, nor lashes, nor goads
will force me to divulge a word; I was not born to that extent a woman. Hence, if you still distrust me,
it is better for me to die than to live; otherwise let no one think me longer the daughter of Cato or your

It is beneficial to equalize the temperature between the outside and inside. By adjusting the curtains it
prevents animals from balking due to the drastic change in temperature once they approach the
threshold.
Remember: it is the Crew Leader s responsibility to make sure that the barn s curtains are returned to
the automatic setting before leaving the barn.
Before moving any animals, make sure that all things on this check list have been completed.
Before beginning to back the trailer to the load out chute, make sure that all crew members and people
are clear of the path between trailer and chute.
Proper hand signals and paying attention are key to backing the market trailer to the chute.
Stop the market driver about four feet from the chute so you can raise and secure the trailer s roll gate.
Secure the roll gate s rope to the tie off on the trailer, and continue the back up process.
Allow a few inches between the trailer and chute so the chute sits down into the trailer s opening once
you have lowered the chute down.
Secure the chute extensions on both sides to the market trailer. The doors of the chute must extend into
the inside of the trailer.
Spread bags of wood chips evenly on the chute and both decks of the market trailer. It blends the
surfaces of the chute and trailer together so the hog doesn t recognize the transition.

Oligopoly Market Failure
In micro economics market failure is characterized by resource misallocation and subsequent Pareto
inefficiency. Just as the invisible hand falters, so is the case that the unregulated markets are incapable
of solving all economic problems. In laissez faire economy, market models mainly monopolistic,
perfect competition and oligopoly are expected to efficiently allocate resources for the welfare benefit
of the society. However individualistic and selfish private interests divert the public benefits thereby
prompting government intervention to correct the imperfection which may lead to disastrous
economic impact. Although corrective intervention policies by government may not necessarily
address the underlying imperfection induced by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Competition failure or monopoly may result from natural monopoly where it costs incurred in
production becomes lower when only one firm is involved in production than several firms producing
the same output. In a monopolist market under production, higher prices become dominant
contributing to market inefficiency. Winston cites cases of misuse of monopoly power can lead to
market failures and sometimes may lead to acute shortage of essential commodities (130).
Coordination failures by private markets are perceived to contribute significantly in inefficiency.
Negative externalities like environmental pollution and positive externalities like focusing on public
benefits and ignoring the private benefits significantly contribute to market failures. Fundamental
questions have been raised to determine the appropriate time government intervention is required and
the magnitude of inefficiency to warrant supposedly intervention or to let the market correct itself.
Stiglitz, argued that inefficient government microeconomic policies to address the market gap often
tends to exacerbate the existing problem or yield unproductive results in the economy (34).
Market failure Correction The principal of Pareto efficiency dictates that market failure is a product of
making other individuals worse than they were found. To

Confused I exclaimed You died. It s my turn! to which Joey quickly retorted I did not! They just
fainted there is no death in this game. You don t get a turn. Stunned, a feeling mixed between betrayal
and disappointment washed over me. I had asked nicely and yet I was denied the chance to play.
Unsure of what to do with myself now that I was not allowed to have the one thing I desired I found
my way to my room. Needing a place to think I rolled under my bed and let the emotions settle in.
Disappointment won out as the more overwhelming emotion and I began to plot a way to take what I
felt was rightfully mine. I soon realized that I had no real idea of how to enact my plan and became
more frustrated. I knew I needed a second opinion and intended to speak to Lucky when I realized that
in my fit of despair I had left him behind. I decided that a rescue mission was in order and climbed out
from under my bed. Sneaking through the house I reached my brother s room and was shocked to find
only Lucky there. I raced over lifting him from the bed and hugging him close knowing he was once
again safe. I turned to leave but right before I could I noticed a faint noise coming from within the
blankets. Lifting them I found true temptation. There sat Joey s GameBoy taunting me as I stared in
wonderment. It dawned on me that I could just go back to my room and find a different way to get the
chance to play but with no one in sight I decided that taking it now

Discussion of State Sovereignty and Globalization
This paper aims to discuss the rather amorphous concepts of state sovereignty and Globalization and
how the notion of sovereignty has been diluted over the years by this phenomenon of globalization. To
narrow down the analysis this paper will consider the dilution of sovereignty under the light of a
primary force of globalization; Transnational Corporations. With the birth of the state, the concept of
sovereignty originated. This included both internal and external sovereignty; however, the latter was
recognized much later after the end of the Thirty Years War and the signing of the Treaty of
Westphalia. Internal Sovereignty was defined as the ability to exercise control and authority within the
territorial boundaries of the state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The company was seeking policy favors, legal concessions and maximizing its profits while the
dictators required foreign direct investment, economic development and enhancement of personal
wealth through grafts and underhand dealings. The relationship worked well till 1944 when as a result
of free elections the paradigm changed and a democratic dispensation was ushered in under President
Juan Arevalo succeeded by Jacobo Arbenz in 1951 elections. The democratic government of Arevalo
had an altogether different mindset. Both Arevalo and his successor Arbenz started on a path of
progressively reforming the society.
A comprehensive program for social uplift of the Guatemalan people was charted out. Its major focus
was on equitable distribution of national income, allowing civil liberties, empowering people and most
importantly attempting to reduce the monopolistic control of different sectors of the economy by
United Fruits Company. President Arbenz started planning to create a parallel railway network which
was to provide cheap accessibility and transportation to the people. He also planned another port on
the Atlantic to be run under the government control and building a hydro electric plant providing
cheap electricity in competition with the one made by the Americans. The prime point of conflict,
however, arose when the Arbenz government decided to implement agrarian reforms in the country. It
was aimed at buying and redistributing unused land to

The Similarities And Differences Of Fairy Folk Tales
Comparative Analysis Essay
Fairy Folk Tales are the most popular types of literature. The tale is an orally transmitted tradition by
generations through the time; some events are changed to fit reality and society. Folk fairy tales deal
with the dualism of the good and the evil. They are basing on a conflict between the good and the evil
forces. The conclusion comes from aspirations of the human desire to achieve the justices. There are
no known authors and sources for ancient s literature. We have many versions of the story; they are
credited by many authors later. Each tale is very like some other culture s tale. Each culture has own
tales, but all the tales are similarities and differences in some points. This essay will compare between
two fairy tales, Cinderella and In the Land of Small Dragon . The tale of Cinderella is a French tale. It
is credited by Charles Perrault; it is published in 1697. The in the Land of Small Dragon is a
Vietnamese folktale; it is told by Dang Manh Kha in 1979.
The tale works to improve the man s image, as a fair and a wise father; or a prince who is the savior of
hopeless girl. The hopeless girl expresses a kind and a simple girl; otherwise, the woman mirrors a
wicked, jealous, and ugly character. That is clear in these two fairy tales. While Cinderella and Tam
were little kids, they lost their mothers. At this point, each of them her suffering and the painful
journey begins. Cinderella lives in her father s house with a stepmother and

The River rats are unique because they are the only choice that is an animal and there are three instead
of one. If a mascot is different from all the other, it will stand out from all of the others. Second, River
Rats mascots sound good. The River Rat s sound good because. River Rat s both words start with the
letter R, and the name sounds mean. If the River Rat s sound means and River Rat s both start with R
it means it fit well that they know that dumb. Next, River Rats mascots represent the area. The River
Rats mascots represent the area because. In Wilkes Barre, PA they had a flood and there seek to
improve its riverfronts. And they are tough because they survived a flood (hurricane). So if they their
mascot did not represent the area the opposing team would not know what goes on during the town.
Most importantly, River Rats mascots look powerful. The River Rats mascot looks powerful because.

The Pros And Cons Of The Milky Way
E.T. phone home : this quote has been very popular for decades now (Verhoeven). Ever since Steven
Spielberg directed the movie E.T. in the 1980 s, this movie caused an up rise about extra terrestrial
life. Because of this movie, people started to realize other life might exist beyond our own planet. In
addition, this caused xenophobes to start rising around the world. With many so called encounters with
aliens in Earth s atmosphere for many millenniums now, does this serve as proof aliens exist? The
Milky Way in which we live in is expanding 3.25 million light years per second (Moskowitz). By the
time you finish reading this paper, the Milky Way will have expanded by 1.9 million light years. This
might be a lot but the closest galaxy to the Milky Way is 13.2 billion light years away. This means
there is a chance extra terrestrial life might exist by the time you finish reading this paper. While
saying this, the galaxy is made up of two hundred billion stars in which NASA has discovered. Each
of these stars has at least one planet orbiting it. By saying this if the Sun has one habitable planet
orbiting it, what is the chance of another star having a habitable planet circling it? Peter Behroozi, a
Hubble fellow at the University of California Berkley talks about this issue, For every grain of sand
there is, there are ten other planets out there like Earth (Cofield). Astronomers have only seen our
galaxy, and there are galaxies larger than the Milky Way and more

Research Paper On Arthur Eddington
Arthur S. Eddington was an English astronomer, born on Dec. 28, 1882, at Kendal, United Kingdom.
His father Arthur Henry Eddington was a school teacher, died when Eddington was just two years old.
His family had to move to Weston, where he was raised. From 1893 to 1898, Arthur Eddington had
attended Brynmelyn School, where Eddington quickly distinguished himself, mainly in mathematics
and English literature. As a child Eddington was very intelligent, and by his own account had
mastered the multiplication table before he could read. He received his bachelor s degree in 1902 from
Owens College, Manchester, and later he immediately proceeded to Trinity College, Cambridge. At
Cambridge Eddington placed first in the mathematical examination in his second year, for him it was
an unprecedented achievement. According to NY Times, In 1905 he took his bachelor s degree from
Cambridge University; in 1907 he became Smith s Prize winner and was elected a fellow of Trinity
College; and in 1909 he obtained his master s degree. Aside from being an astronomer, he was also a
physicist, and a mathematician. Throughout his astronomy career, several of the theories that
Eddington discovered has affected astronomy greatly. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Shame In The Puritan Era
Statistics show that public humiliation is one of the most common fears. As many admit to this fear,
many also grasp to this concept and shame one another for absurd conditions. In the Puritan Era, many
methods were used to publicly shame someone for their wrong doing. One of their common methods
was to openly tell their sin to the whole community. One of their extreme approaches was hanging
someone. This showed the public to follow the regulations of the town and do not do anything against
them. Fast forward to modern times, the scheme of humiliating one another changed drastically. For
instance, many occurrences pertain from social media. In 1994, the first site of social media was
created. From this point on, millions of different sites ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In today s society, the influence of social media, politics, and the blame of women, ignite a new way
of publicly humiliating others. Initially, social media created a way to communicate with others and
receive updates through one s life. As the power of this concept grew, and the more advanced
technology created, people started to bully over the internet; called cyberbullying. Many incidents of
cyberbullying occur, which grew into the primary way of bullying. Politics represent America, and
essentially define the country. As a whole, eliminating public shame pertains to one of the goals of this
country, but if representatives start to persuade the society, fundamentally, everyone will accept the
thought of public humiliation. Lastly, the stereotypical perception of women is known as blaming
another for one s actions or their appearance. As this stands in people s minds, many are blind to the
fact that women actually receive shame for their bodies, self, and jobs more than men. The law now
participates in the action of stopping the shame, but also intervenes with the supervision of
prostitution, sex trafficking, and any illegal operations women participate in. With the influences of
social media, politics, and the two sides of women in public shaming, this concept brings forth
attention to the society itself. It calls for help in the world, to stop this humiliation and shaming of
others

Ergon, Eudaimonia, Psyche in Artistotle´s De Amina
A pinecone planted upon the plain or mountainside becomes a great forest providing wildlife with
food and shelter; from that forest emerges great trees, trees which become lumber and the lumber in
the hands of a carpenter that came from a seed to builds homes and vessels for the greater well being
for the world in which he dwells. A carpenter would not forget to build the roof on a house or fail to
allow for a doorway to enter the house as each has its own unique function and is necessary for the
completion of a house as it is for a family to make the same structure a home. The function of a house
is to become a home to a family, as it is the function of the family to contribute to the community and
the community to benefit the city and the city to prosper the county and so forth; each in turn having a
function to serve and benefit from the lesser to the greater and the greater to the lesser. Aristotle
contends in the De Anima that the soul dwells in all living things and therefore all living things can
know of fear, passions, virtues, and happiness that is found in the Nicomachean Ethics. Should the
soul be conformable in the body or shape in which the soul (psyche) dwells and happiness
(eudaimonia) issues from that form then all things according to Aristotle have a function (ergon); a
function that is necessary for the survival of the species and therefore as the hand is necessary to feed
the body; the hand also must procure the food in order to administer to needs of the

Scientific Thinking, Economic Reasoning and Their...
The Caribbean has had celebrated economists who, in their works, always sought to define the
Caribbean experience and produce solutions to the region s problems. Their achievements arose out of
a need for a Third World economic story that was separate from that developed in more advanced
nations. Economics, however, has been regarded as a dismal science (Carlyle 1849) and some have
questioned if it is a science at all. For this essay, we assume that economics is a science and ask Is and
was scientific reasoning a part of economic reasoning in the Caribbean? The analysis for this paper
therefore considers both the publications based on the Caribbean from the 1960s and 1970s and the
recent analytical trend in the Caribbean. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dunbar in another article (undated) included expertise as part of the scientific thinking. Ayalon and
Even (2008) notes association and plausible inference as other processes. Further reading, though,
indicates that the processes mentioned may not be clear cut in their use, that is, one process may be a
part of another process. Most of the methods mentioned by Dunbar and Klahr (2012) will be discussed
but with considerations of other authors.
Dunbar (undated) highlighted three aspects scientific thinking, one of which is hypothesis testing. In
hypothesis testing logic is applied to a set of statements. These statements or propositions are a
combination of premises and conclusions. The premises and their conclusions are evaluated for their
truthfulness or justifiability of explanation. How these propositions are examined is referred to as
reasoning strategies. There are three strategies in hypothesis testing: induction, deduction and
abduction. These three processes also referred to as Peirce s Inferential Triad, can be used under other
reasoning processes such as causal reasoning. In addition, hypothesis testing may be on an individual
level or collaboratively (note that collaborative reasoning is mentioned as a reasoning process by
Dunbar and Klahr (2012)).

Third Degree Burns Term Papers Abstract First, second, and third degree burns are three different types of burns, each one depending on the severity of damage to the skin; with first degree being the most minor and third degree being the most brutal. Damage for each includes: first degree burns: red, non blistered skin; second degree burns: blisters and some thickening of the skin; third degree burns: widespread thickness with a white, leathery appearance. There is also a fourth degree burn. In which, the damage of third degree burns extends beyond the skin into the tendons and bones. Severe burns covering large parts of the body may need more lengthened types of treatment and intensive interventions such as IV fluids to replace fluids lost when skin was burned and IV antibiotics to prevent infection. Burn pain is difficult to control because of its changing patterns, various components, and distinctive characteristics. Pain management is adjusted to the persons tolerance for pain. Interventions for pain include drug therapy which usually requires opioid and non opioid medication; alternative and complementary therapy which includes relaxation techniques, music therapy, guided imagery, and meditative breathing; and environmental changes such as providing a quiet environment. • 5. Social Class And Family Relationships We all have a family, but we all have grown up in a different way. Social class plays a huge role in family life. Three of the connections between social class and family include kin, child rearing, and education levels. To begin, kin is a part of the family, but there is a difference between kin ship among the poor and near poor. Kin is an important part of the family life because it is the connection between family and, sometimes, wealth. Who people associate in times of need and support greatly influence their lives and surroundings. In families, the father is seen as the main economic contributor and in crisis, a loss of a job, his authority will drop. This isn t the only loss he will face, he will also have a decreased self respect and other family members will treat him with less respect. On the contrary, if women were to lose her job, there wouldn t be the same treatment. In areas of chronic poverty, young mothers rely less on marriage and more on other kinship ties for support (Cherlin, 2013, p. 127). The poor is more likely to reach out or support more distant relatives than the other social classes. There is yet another difference between the nonpoor. The core of kinship among the nonpoor in the United States has been the conjugal family of wife, husband, and children (Cherlin, 2013, p. 128). Parents of the higher social class are expected to provide for themselves and their children first and foremost. Any savings handed down are concentrated to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Texas Constitution Comparing and Contrasting the Texas and U.S Constitutions The Texas Constitution (1876) as well as the United States Constitution (1791) have a plethora of similarities conceptually, as they are both rooted with the same ideologies of democracy. However, what sets these two documents apart is that the Texas constitution goes into more depth on laws and how its government works. In contrast, the US Constitution is more vague allowing it to be a far more timeless and living document. Both of the executive bodies also have a line of succession which is put into effect when either the Governor of Texas or the President of the United States is impeached. That brings me to the contrast found in the constitutions when it comes to impeachment, in the National government there are very specific reasons to why the President would be impeached, for example treason would be one of those. The Texas Constitution gives the power to impeach the Governor but there are no written out reasons as to what is an impeachable offense, the House of Representatives decide what is impeachable. However once the heel contacts the ground range of extension reduces. With short stump it stays in flexion. The peak hip extension occurs late as compared to a normal gait which is $~65%$ stride c/w $55%$. This happens as an attempt to increase the step length of the intact limb when no prosthetic push off is present. The work of the concentric hip extensor is to create the hip extensor moment. This hip extensor moment is also seen to be higher than in the case of normal gait. This is prominent in the first half of the stance where extension of the knee an d the hip happens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tendency seen is higher power generation in shorter period of time in comparison with normal. The power required to lift a prosthesis may only be $30 40%$ of the weight of a normal limb and it is this power generated in short period of time. The hip torque required during preswing and early swing is observed to be less in knees with damping and stance resistance. This is due more anteriorally aligned knee axis. This is required to increase the extension moment during heel contact. But at the same time, due to this alignment initiating flexion in preswing and early swing is a challenge. During late swing the range of hip flexion is observed to be greater than normal that is at all walking speeds. Also the amount of hip flexor activity was observed to be higher. These factors however increase the step length. By keeping the hip flexing the extending knee can be decelerated to reduce terminal impact. %Some amputees with constant friction knees transitioned from hip flexion, to extension, to flexion again, possibly to assist in knee extension by reversing the direction of the thigh. ... These studies have rendered two laws of thermodynamics. The first law of thermodynamics is also known as the law of conservation of energy. The first law governs the quality of energy available from an energy conversion process, whereas the second law governs the quality of the energy available. According to the first law, we will never run out of energy, but according to the second law, we can run out of high quality (useful) energy. The second law also tells us that high quality energy can never be used again. In terms easily understood, not only can we not get something for nothing (the first law), but we cannot ever break even in terms of energy quality (the second law). All of the Outer Party members are violently yelling and releasing their built up anger. The Party members rage is directed towards Goldstein who is the supposed leader of the rebellious group called the Brotherhood. The chosen excerpt is during Winston s explanation of Two Minutes of Hate and Goldstein s speech. The Universe and fate is essentially malevolent and benevolent. Hardy believes that God, whether he once was once a presence or not, has disappeared entirely from the world. Did you say the stars were worlds, Tess? Yes. All like ours? I don t know, but I think so. They sometimes seem to be like the apples on our stubbard tree. Most of them splendid and sound a few blighted. Which do we live on a Splendid one or a blighted one? A blighted one. (Hardy 54) Tess is raised in an environment that encourages a belief in a kind of predetermination and fatality, demonstrated by the fact that her mother often consults the complete fortune teller, an old book of astrological guidance. Tess however has been educated, and thus does not subscribe to the same beliefs that her mother does. In a similar way, Hardy uses Tess s father John Durbyfield to illustrate the power of fate to change one s life. • 26. Epistemological Approach to Modern Artificial Intelligence Modern Artificial Intelligence There are a number of contemporary goals for artificial intelligence. This truth is in part related to the fact that many of the basic goals of artificial intelligence that were initially conceived during the 20th century still have not been met. Many contemporary goals, therefore, have descended from these initial goals, and have simply incorporated more specific practices and uses for artificial intelligence. Essentially, the primary goal of contemporary artificial intelligence is to create some sort of life form or machine that has the cognitive ability to make life easier and more conventional for humans by performing and completing both complex and simple tasks. The logic behind this goal is sufficiently denoted in the following quotation, in which the principle ends of artificial intelligence are listed as efforts to develop an artificial entity that can learn and make decision in a complex, changing environment, affect that environment, and communicate in knowledge and choices to humans; that is, an entity that can think (Neapolitan, 2011, p. iii). In many different respects, this particular goal of artificial intelligence, to create an entity that can think and reason in a specific environment, has expanded with the scion of artificial intelligence known as Artificial General Intelligence. • 29. Importance Of The Declaration Of Rights Of Man The Declaration of Rights of Man, written on August 26th, 1789, granted French citizens fundamental rights for the first time in France s history. This revolutionary document articulated the goals and standards the French people sought for their new society, post revolution. The Declaration articulated the ideas of the Enlightenment and offered fundamental protections for the common man. The Declaration of Rights of Man was important to the French Revolution because it created citizens and their rights, thereby ending absolute monarchy. Before the Revolution, France s government, entitled the Ancien Régime, consisted of an absolute monarchy. Under this system, no person had any rights. The people of France were not citizens, but rather subjects of the King, at the mercy of his will. The King held all of the power with no legal protections in place for the French people. For example, the First Estate, consisting of the clergy, and the Second Estate, consisting of the nobility, paid no direct taxes. This provision existed because Louis XIV had implemented a tax system that exempted these two estates. Therefore, the entire tax burden of the country fell on the Third Estate, the common people. This unjust and disproportionate system existed because the King s word was the law, with no legal means to appeal his decisions. A major cause of the Revolution was the Third Estate s contempt with this unfair political system and lack of legal means to change it. This contempt, in part, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I could argue in the position that, Euthyphro is claiming expertise in a subject that he doesn t know enough about. This socratic ignorance is the idea of the dialogue. I have decided to take an extra argument in this paper. I argue there is ignorance in both Socrates and Euthyphro. Although it s more difficult to prove, I explain the situations of piety and impiety and how it is relative to each person and the time period of the discussion. Bringing the background situation to show claims made by Euthyphro and lack of evidence provided in this dialogue. The supporting claims I share after are on Euthyphro s side of conversation. This determines his thoughts, on the definition of piety and unspoken details that I have determined. Socrates also makes arguments that are known to be true, to Euthyphro through comparison of different circumstances. This happens through Socrates and Euthyphro, use of asking questions and questing answer, from what explained, based on the knowledge of Euthyphro. Background to the Study As a scientific discipline, computer vision is concerned with the extraction of information from images to be employed in a decision making process. The image data can take many forms, such as video sequences, still images, digitized maps, diagrams and sketches. These images may be in colour format, grey scale or in binary format. The common approach is to extract characteristic features from the image either in the spatial domain or in some suitable transform domain. Whether the goal is classification or recognition, a measure of similarity or distance must be formulated and the success rate of the system evaluated. Some of the application areas of computer vision are: 1.1.1. Robotics The visual recognition of image patterns is a fundamental human attribute that uses the eye as a sensor and dedicated parts of the brain as the decision making processor. The visual recognition enables humans to perform a variety of tasks such as target identification, ease of movement, handling tools, communication among others. Advances in sensing and visual perception techniques have enabled some of these attributes to be transferred to robots. For example, identification of colour is a useful asset in a robot in an industrial automation process that involves sorting. [1], [2], [3] 1.1.2. The scandal of Rasputin, the Siberian peasant who wandered into St. Petersburg, declaring himself a healer and holy man, was seen by Alexandra as her miracle. Her son Alexi had hemophilia and she eternally blamed herself for his heredity disease. In reality, Rasputin actually was able to stop the ceaseless bleeding, but their friendship, and rumored affair, severed her relationship with the Russian people, who knew that Rasputin was not a holy man, but an exploiter. • 45. The Pros And Cons Of The Milky Way E.T. phone home : this quote has been very popular for decades now (Verhoeven). Ever since Steven Spielberg directed the movie E.T. in the 1980 s, this movie caused an up rise about extra terrestrial life. Because of this movie, people started to realize other life might exist beyond our own planet. In addition, this caused xenophobes to start rising around the world. With many so called encounters with aliens in Earth s atmosphere for many millenniums now, does this serve as proof aliens exist? The Milky Way in which we live in is expanding 3.25 million light years per second (Moskowitz). By the time you finish reading this paper, the Milky Way will have expanded by 1.9 million light years. This might be a lot but the closest galaxy to the Milky Way is 13.2 billion light years away. This means there is a chance extra terrestrial life might exist by the time you finish reading this paper. While saying this, the galaxy is made up of two hundred billion stars in which NASA has discovered. Each of these stars has at least one planet orbiting it. • 51. Scientific Thinking, Economic Reasoning and Their... The Caribbean has had celebrated economists who, in their works, always sought to define the Caribbean experience and produce solutions to the region s problems. Their achievements arose out of a need for a Third World economic story that was separate from that developed in more advanced nations. Economics, however, has been regarded as a dismal science (Carlyle 1849) and some have questioned if it is a science at all. For this essay, we assume that economics is a science and ask Is and was scientific reasoning a part of economic reasoning in the Caribbean? Ayalon and Even (2008) notes association and plausible inference as other processes. Further reading, though, indicates that the processes mentioned may not be clear cut in their use, that is, one process may be a part of another process. Most of the methods mentioned by Dunbar and Klahr (2012) will be discussed but with considerations of other authors. Dunbar (undated) highlighted three aspects scientific thinking, one of which is hypothesis testing. In hypothesis testing logic is applied to a set of statements. These statements or propositions are a combination of premises and conclusions. The premises and their conclusions are evaluated for their truthfulness or justifiability of explanation. How these propositions are examined is referred to as reasoning strategies. There are three strategies in hypothesis testing: induction, deduction and abduction. These three processes also referred to as Peirce s Inferential Triad, can be used under other reasoning processes such as causal reasoning. In addition, hypothesis testing may be on an individual level or collaboratively (note that collaborative reasoning is mentioned as a reasoning process by Dunbar and Klahr (2012)).
