1800 s Political Changes
The early decades of the 1800 s fostered significant political changes (Schultz, 2009). The
American politics were becoming more democratic, which resulted in historians referring to this
part of history as the the era of the common man. The political changes of the early 1800 s were
significantly impacted by the following four reasons: economic booms and busts, expansion of
vote, presidential election of 1824, and the second two party system. The economic changes caused
by the Market Revolution resulted in a booming economy. However, in 1819 the demand for the
American agricultural produce crashed partly due to the European recovery for the Napoleonic War
of 1815. Thus, the newly constructed Second Bank of United States, which had

Persuasive Speech About Adoption
For those of you who don t know I am adopted. My adoption story may be a little different than
other adoption stories. Things had happened at that point or were going to happen in the future
that would change me. I was adopted at age 4 and my sister was about 1 at the time. My adoption
stayed open which means if I wanted I could still have contact with my birth family. Adoptionin
itself teaches you a lot, but sometimes the different things that happen can teach you more.
One day my mom came and found me and my sister and told us we had to go somewhere. We
went and found our shoes and started heading out the door. My sister and I started hoping down
the front steps just about running into a vehicle parked out front. My mom told me and my
sister to get in, both of us were kind of scared but we did it anyways. So me and my sister
attempted getting into the big vehicle, well it may not have been that big, but to us it seemed
like it was. We drove for what seemed like hours till all of a sudden the car stopped. I opened the
door and hoped out onto the cold hard cement. I didn t know where we were at, I had never seen
this place before. The people in the car and my mom told us to go up to the front steps and they
will be right behind us. So me and my sister made our way up the steps and to a big front door.
We looked and found a doorbell and chose to push it. After just a little while the door opened and
this younger couple looked down at us with huge smiles on their faces.

How To Describe A Jazz Concert
I attended the University of Indianapolis Jazz Ensemble on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. The
concert was located in the Ruth Lilly Performance Hall at 7:30p.m. The band played a total of
eight different songs, varying in the types of jazz. I perceived the overall mood of the whole
concert as energizing, powerful, and uplifting. I was also able to apply much of the knowledge that
I learned in class to the event. To begin with, the concertstarted out with a piece from Count Basie
called Hay Burner. This piece was done by a big band, a band with many instruments and
musicians, and that is exactly how it was performed by the University of Indianapolis Jazz
Ensemble. The band had a total of four sections: saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and rhythm
sections. Throughout the piece, the band focused mostly on the ensemble rather than the soloist,
however, the alto saxophone did have a solo. This piece reminded me mostly of the boogie
woogie style of jazz, due to its bluesy tones and driving piano style.... Show more content on

However, each song was heavily syncopated. The next song that really stuck out to me was
originally performed by John Coltrane. The song featured many notes and different Coltrane
changes. Coltrane changes are when the chord progressions were even more complex than bebop.
The song, Impressions, to me did not seem to fit into any category that was learned in the
classroom. It mostly just sounded like an upbeat flourish of notes. Both the trombones and trumpets
used mutes, giving their instrument an airy, deeper sound. They used those at the beginning and
end of the song, giving it a unique

Everett And Odysseus Comparison Essay
Everett vs. Odysseus
A character named Ulysses Everett McGill from the story O Brother Where Art Thou is a leader
of a chain gang in rural Mississippi. Everett connects with a character named Odysseus from the
story The Odyssey because they share many similar attributes. Odysseus demonstrates god like
qualities and he is shown to be a brave man. In the stories, the Odyssey and O Brother Where Art
Thou through many trials and tribulations both characters Odysseus and Everett share similar
characteristics such as they are both loving, perfect, and determined.
Everett and Odysseus are both loving towards their wives, they both love their wives and want the
best for them. Odysseus demonstrates love when he cried to see his wife Penelope, and Everett ...

His greatest problem was when he came upon the sirens. The sirens got the men s drunk and
they fell asleep. Therefore Pete was turned in by the sirens and they were forced to leave with
the frog they thought was Pete. This shows that Everett was determined to keep going and he
did not stop. As a result, they ascertained the frog was not Pete. Everett and Odysseus were both
determined towards their own goals and did not give up. Only instruct me goddess if you will how
if possible can I pass Charybdis or fight off Scylla when she raids my crew? (XII 72 74). For
example, Odysseus knew this wasn t a good idea because the lovely goddess told him there will
be hardships. Even then, Odysseus did not give up and he kept going. Odysseus and Everett were
brave enough to face obstacles and find their way out.
Odysseus and Everett share many similarities throughout their journeys and overcome many
obstacles and didn t quit no matter what. They show that it s definitely hard to overcome problems
and determination is also needed but it s not impossible. The characters demonstrate their
leadership potential towards others and help them throughout their

Functionalism And Social Disorganization
What is functionalist? Functionalist is a type of phenomenon that creates a social order. This
also gives people some type of perpus in life and makes them want to contribute to society. Over
time this type of behavior become a pattern. Emile Durkheim was the one who came with this
theory. What is social disorganization? Social disorganization is when someone does not care
about the rules and acts a certain way. This could also be a group of people. Social disorganization
could be seen as a type of perspective on deviance and crime. Social disorganization is very
common in lower class men because they are less likely to do good in school. Functionalist is the
compete opisit of social disorganization. I say this because one of these theory s says

Dysfunctional College Campuses
College campuses function as a collective organization, meaning that all of the offices and
departments play an integral role in making the college experience great. The departments need to
work together to guide students in matters such as financial aid, class registration, student accounts,
and so many more. For example, if a new studentwere to contact the CONNECTIONs Orientation
office and ask about their housing, the department secretary should either know how to answer the
question, or know who to connect the student with. The current issue that we are finding on
campus is that offices aren t working together. Students are being directed to a different office,
each time being told that the answer will be at the following office, and these types of experiences
can make or break whether a student wants to come back to Kutztown University. Organizational
structure and connectedness are necessary to avoid a dysfunctional campus environment. The issue
does not only affect the students that have to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way to do this would to be the promotion and implementation of programs that fall within the
proposed framework of the spherically structured firm proposed by Miles and Snow (1995). This
approach while being very broad encomapses a lot of smaller strategies and best pratices. It
encomases. Lots of components of what should be determined as a perfect working structure for an
organization. This makes it complicated as a strategy and lenthy because each of its subsections will
require programs to address each sub part. With organizational commitment and essential needs
analysis the organization could easily make interconnected and synergistic programs to address
many problems at once. This will require a lot of organizational commitment from administration as
well as commitment to the strategy long term as the solutions will not happen

Theme Of Fear In Lord Of The Flies
In the Novel lord of the flies, it is evident that the stranded school boys attempt to build a
civilization. Throughout the building of this new civilization the most challenging factor is
leading the school boys and keeping the young boys on track, which is hard enough let alone
being on an island with no adults. This making their civilization fragile. A constant fear is
looming around the boys, which in the end is what breaks this fragile society. A fear of many
factors including; Being stranded forever possibly, A beast and starvation. These fears divide
the group of school boys and blinds the boys from the most important goal, surviving till their
rescue. The first fear to arise in Lord of the Flies is a fear of abandonment, for a group of young
English school boys that were in a plane crash while in the process of fleeing the war. The boys
may feel like the have no home or place they belong. When they are on an uninhabited island and
stuck with no one older then thirteen to lead them. When Piggy and Ralph meet, Piggy shows
his sense of abandonment when he says They re all dead, said piggy an this is an island. Nobody
don t know we re here. (Goulding 9) This feeling of being abandoned ignites the fear in the
young boys, and paves the path for the fear grow like fire. As if abandonment is not enough
piggy shortly after brings up an even scarier topic, We may stay here till we die. (10). Being
abandoned is a harsh feeling, but an even scarier feeling is dying, dying

Women In The Little Mermaid
The concept of portraying women as incomplete, or not fully developed, without a male counterpart
to fill the voids left in their personalities furthers the argument that films such as The Little
Mermaid allow females to feel as if they are not enough for themselves, in and of themselves. Susan
White addresses the implications of the film surrounding the outlandish expectations for women to
be confined within traditional roles in order to actually obtain the title of womanwhen she writes,
The film implies that the sense of freedom necessary to exploration and accomplishment must
finally be curbed if one is to become a woman (183). These feelings of inadequacy stunt the
development of strong, independent identity within females and breed... Show more content on

The first of these problematic circumstances is the breeding of feelings of discontent in one s
own company as Ariel finds that life in her underwater kingdom is simply not enough if she
cannot have the love of a practical stranger. This idea encourages women to lower their standards
for men in their romantic endeavors simply to make themselves feel as though they are desirable.
This behavior results in toxic relationships, low self esteem, and overall dissatisfaction in matters
which transcend the relationship itself. However, if the audience is made aware of the flaws in the
design of the main character s ideals of what makes a positive and functioning relationship, the film
presents an opportunity for the audience to elaborate on the detriment brought upon the main
character by her own disregard for self preservation and lacking consideration for thoughts beyond
that of hasty, misguided affection or preventable sacrifice; regrettably, young children are often
incapable of grasping this complex this complex approach to the film. Instead they take what is
presented to them at face value and apply it to themselves in that respect alone; had The Little
Mermaid been intended for older audiences, this approach would appear more logical, but since its
target audience is young children, the effect of inverting the messages in the film to acknowledge
societal flaws is lost, and the results left upon young viewers is less

1960s Social Culture
There has been many times in history where social culture has changed. In fact, social culture is
always changing. In the early 1900s to the 1920s, many social changes came into play. The
automobile became more and more accessible and convenient as roads were paved. Fashion had
changed from layers upon layers and the idea of modesty for women to the bold, daring flapper
girl and men wearing suits. After World War II, another social change; furthermore, one to
remember occurred the baby boom. A new generation was born full of new ideas of fashion, diet,
lifestyle, and taste in music. This is the generation that would soon become familiar with the
famous quote of Timothy Leary, Tune out, turn on, and drop out. This is also the generation that
completely disregarded their parent s traditional beliefs and became members of an era of intense
individualism where eccentricity was popular. This eccentricity included the use of Marijuana and
psychedelic drugs, vegetarianism diets, birth control, stand out fashion, and a new taste in music.

The children of this generation had been raised in the security and prosperity of the 1950 s,
unlike their parents who had grown up during the Great Depression. During the 1960 s, the baby
boom generation began to rediscover the works of Hermann Hesse. Hermann Hesse was a
German writer who expressed rebelliousness against traditional culture and a search for a spiritual
meaning in his work. As they found interest in Hesse s words, the counterculture began to form. In
addition, the Beat Generation, a group of American artists and writers, created artwork and
literature alongside of Hesse s. They too also rejected traditional and artistic forms, referring to
themselves as the hip people. The Beat Generation had led to the creation of the word hippie. With
the help of Hesse and the Beat Generation, the counterculture grew ever so

The Future Of The Ncaa

The Future of the NCAA College athletic programs are among the most popular sporting events in
America. With this rise in popularity, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and its
colleges have also seen a rise in revenue in recent years. In 2014, the NCAA made over 900
million dollars in revenue. Some collegiate coaches, such as Kentucky s John Calipari, have yearly
salaries in the millions, not counting incentives and endorsement deals. While, clearly, moneyis
being made, NCAA regulations ban collegiate athletes from being paid. Many question this rule and
argue that athletes at the college level earn and deserve pay for play. The debate to pay or not to
pay college athletes rages on despite the latest court ruling supporting NCAA policies. Because
colleges and universities earn such a profit from sporting events, many fans feel it is only fair to
distribute some of the wealth to the players. Supporters of paying student athletes feel that these
young men and women should be fairly compensated for the time demanded of the athletes and the
stress put on the athletes, physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. Those in favor of
paying college athletes contend that athletic and academic work ethic at both high school and
collegiate levels will improve, as well as, fiscal responsibility in these young adults. The NCAA
argues that paying athletes would negatively affect their

The Protestant Reformation Essay
The intent of this paper is to evaluate the distinct character and quality of the expressions of the
Protestant Reformation. This paper will discuss Lutheran Reformation, The Anabaptist, and The
English Puritans as well as the Catholic Reformation also known as the Counter Reformation. It is
the hope that after the reader has had the opportunity to view each of the characteristics and the
expressions of each of the reformation the reader will have a better understanding of each and will

Written in his theses was the debate and criticism of the Roman Catholic Church and the Pope.
Luther concentrated upon the selling of indulgences, which are extra sacrament remission of the
temporal punishment due in God s justice, to sin that has been forgiven, which remission is granted
by the Church in the exercise of the power of the keys (Knight 1993, 2009) the indulgences
replaced the severe penances of the early church. The theses also included the debate of doctrine
policies about purgatory, judgment, devotion to Mary the Mother of Jesus, the intercession of and
devotion to the saints and the authority of the Pope there are others that were not mention in this
paper. The Lutheran Reformation is particularly associated with the German territories and the
pervasive personal influence of one charismatic individual Martin Luther. Luther s concern was the
doctrine of justification, which formed his central point of his religious thoughts. The Lutheran
Reformation was initially an academic movement, concerned primarily with reforming the teaching
of theology at the University of Wittenberg (McGrath 2007). The Lutheran began in 1822 this

Medium Mass Star
The mass of a star dictates its whole life. Vega is a medium mass star, so it has about 10 billion
years to live overall. Vega about 25 light years away, as well. Vega has an absolute magnitude of
0.58, and a temperature of 9,602 K. This medium mass star follows on the same path as any other
medium mass star: First star birth, then through the main sequence, into a red giant, contracted into
a white dwarf, and finally cooled into a black dwarf. Vega started out its life just as any other star,
as a nebula. The cloud of dust and gas condenses and temperatures rise, until it is hot enough for
fusion of hydrogen into helium can take place. When Vega was able to fuse hydrogen into
helium, it was classified as a main sequence star, which is the phase in it s life cycle that it is

which means Vega still hasn t run out of hydrogen to fuse.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Once this happens, outward pressure will stop and the star s core will start to collapse, and
temperatures will rise to a temperature that is hot enough to fuse helium into carbon and some
oxygen. At this point, Vega will no longer be in the main sequence, and will begin to expand into
a red giant, which is cool and bright. After Vega expands as far as it can, and runs out of helium
to fuse, outward pressure will increase, once again, and the outer layers of Vega will be pushed
away, causing a planetary nebula to be composed. The remaining core is a hot, dim white dwarf.
In the end, the white dwarf will cool into a black dwarf, which is mostly made of carbon and
oxygen. When Vega is a black dwarf, it will finished with it s life

Feral Child Research Paper
A feral child or a wild child is defined as a human child who has been isolated from human
interaction from an early age, where they have a slight or no experience of human care, contact, or
no understanding of human languages. Feral children have also been constrained by people in
some cases, including their own parents or guardians. This form of neglection was due to the
parent s denial of care and affection towards the child. Feral children normally exhibit some form
of common behavior due to their lack of human contact. One major behavioral characteristic is there
is an absence of any form of social skills. For example, they might not be interested in human

The Leading Causes Of The Opium Wars
The Leading Causes of the Opium Wars The Opium Wars were a series of conflicts that
eventually led to China s decline through the trade and abuse of the drug opium. The first of the
Opium Wars (1839 42) was fought between China and Britain, and the second war (1856 1860)
involved France as well. In both wars, the foreign powers triumphed over China, causing havoc,
causing the fall of the Qing dynasty. Prior to the Opium Wars, China was full of rich culture,
remarkable goods, and useful inventions. They had invented gunpowder, kites, and porcelain,
all of which were in demand. The Qing dynasty had believed that they were superior to other
countries, and refused to let any foreigners access any Chinese territory. There was only one area
where trade was permitted, and it was inside the province of Canton, though payments were only
allowed to be made in silver. The largest demand was for silk and tea from China, but England
had a limited amount of the silver to trade. So instead, they began to trade Opium to China.
Opium was in high demand at the time, and many merchants accepted it as currency for goods.
With Britain having control of several poppy fields in India, producing large amounts of the drug
was not a problem. The trade of opium was the root cause of the Opium Wars, but other causes
such as China s unfair trade superiority, the economic opportunity the west saw in the trade, and
the addiction to the drug all helped cause the wars as well. The Opium Wars were

Inaccuracies In The Movie Glory
The most shameful thing in American history was the enslavement of African Americans. African
Americans were brought over from Africa to America in the North Atlantic Slave Trade. This
slave trade brought about 12 million African Americans over to the America s in order to make
them slaves. The North Atlantic Slave Trade ended in 1807 thanks to an act by Congress in
America. This by no means ended slavery in America, and slavery wasn t abolished for about
another 58 years. Eventually slavery would be brought to the forefront of American politics.
Especially the election of 1860 which made the famous Abraham Lincoln President. The South saw
Lincoln s election as a threat to their way of life. This was especially seen in South Carolina which
was the first state (unsurprisingly due to the fact that they have threatened this before) to announce
their succession from the union. Other states soon followed South Carolina to form the Confederate

The first would be when the soldiers started training. In the movie it s stated that the 54th regiment

inaccuracy that Glory had in it was a very minor one. The invasion of Ft. Wagner happened from
South to North in the movie, when in the actual war the 54th regiment attacked from North to
South. In Glory Colonel Shaw accepted the position to lead the 54th infantry right away, however
in the actual Civil War Colonel Shaw hesitated about his decision before he said yes. Another minor
inaccuracy would be the people in the movie Glory. The 54th regiment didn t include actually

Marcus Going To The Theater Play Analysis
Theater performances in antiquity were typically dedicated to a pagan god or goddess, and the
plays often ran as part of larger public religious festivals. Scenes portraying blatant immorality
were commonplace. All this proved rather troubling to the early church. Christian leaders, such as
Tertullian, spoke out in opposition to the idea of believers going to the theater: Why is it right to
look on what it is disgraceful to do? How is it that the things which defile a man in going out of his
mouth, are not regarded as doing so when they go in at this eyes and ears when eyes and ears are
the immediate attendants of the spirit? You have the theater forbidden, then, in the forbidding of
immodesty. Thus, when an actor converted to Christ in third century... Show more content on

Our new convert now faced an economic dilemma, however, since he was no longer gainfully
employed. So, instead of acting, Marcus opened an acting school. This apparently created quite
a stir among Marcus s fellow Christians, and the surviving letters exchanged by his pastor and
the church s bishop paint a portrait of the church truly living out its strong group family values.
Marcus s pastor, Eucratius, naturally wondered how it could be acceptable for Marcus to teach
others what he himself was forbidden to do. Yet Marcus had already made a tremendous sacrifice
to follow Jesus. So Eucratius wrote to his spiritual mentor, Cyprian of Carthage, to ask whether
such a man ought to remain in communion with us. Cyprian s reaction to Marcus was
unequivocal: It is not in keeping with the reverence due to the majesty of God and with the
observance of the gospel teachings for the honor and respect of the church to be polluted by
contamination at once so degraded and so scandalous. No compromise. No drama teaching. Marcus
must either leave the church or quit his job again. Marcus s story has the strong group, surrogate
family [character] written all over it. It is Cyprian s conviction that the honor and respect of the
church must take priority over Marcus and his acting academy. Marcus, on his part, finds himself
answering to the church for his whole vocational and financial

The Book of the Courtier Summary
The Book of the Courtier by Baldassar Castiglione was the book of proper etiquette for men and

Descriptive Essay About Overcoming
Overcoming
Okay, so to warm up tumbling, I ll have you guys touch in this order... my coach Brooke told us but
I had already stopped listening.
I couldn t hear over the pounding of the blood rushing through my head. My teammates and I are
about to warm up our tumbling passes and I just got mine last week. Now, I started to overthink.
What if I fall on my head and die? What if I chicken out and land flat on my back? I would be
utterly humiliated... and in pain but mainly humiliated.
Lauren, it s your turn to warm up, Brooke said snapping me out of my thoughts.
Okay Lauren, you can do this. Just don t die and you ll be fine, I said to myself hoping that I was
right. The music stopped and I sauntered onto the floor. It was navy blue and not as malleable as
ours. My heart beat started beating heavier and more intense. BA BUMP BA BUMP BA BUMP. I
reached the corner of the floor and wiped my hands on my legs. I looked at my coach and she
gave me a reassuring smile. I took a deep breath and started to sprint across the floor. I felt the
satisfying thud of my hands making contact with the floor and my feet landing back on the floor.
All I had to do know was wait for the next routine to finish so I could do it again.
The routine finished and I strode back onto the floor but this time with more confidence. I wanted
to get it over with swiftly so I started running a second after I had reached the corner. This time, my
hands weren t the only thing that touched the ground. My

The Meaning of the Truman Show
In the last few years, America has undergone a significant cultural change. Previously, almost no
criticism of the media reached the public, except for some of the complaints of business interests
and conservatives. The media controlled the means of communication and it used that power to
censor virtually all discussion of its own role in shaping events But now at last we are starting to
get some public debate over the way the media manipulates public opinion and routinely creates
fictions that masquerade as facts. The change has taken place in large measure because the media
itself has become so powerful and so out of control, there is no longer any way for it to keep what it
is doing under wraps. Ironically, one of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What gives this metaphor life is the way the movie depicts two attitudes we routinely take
toward media. In one, we are absorbed by it; we accept its rendition of reality because it occupies
our view. We are like children whose parents define their world. The lifelikeness and
seamlessness of media fabrications and the fact that they are entertaining, help induce this attitude
in us. We frequently experience it while reading news stories and watching television and
movies. In the second attitude, we distance ourselves from media. We examine its meaning and
try to understand the intentions of its authors. This second attitude is what makes criticism and
freedom possible. In life, we frequently switch from one attitude to another and mix them
together. In watching television, we may easily become absorbed in the program. Then
something will jar us out of our spell, such as a breakdown in the illusion or the expression of
ideas we disagree with. As a result, we will suddenly distance ourselves from what we are
watching, and perhaps ridicule it or suspect the intentions of its creators. The critics of media have
been trying to get us to cultivate this second attitude, so we will see through the falsehood we are
offered on a daily basis. The movie depicts just such a change in attitude as a transformation in the
way Truman sees

King Henry Manipulation
Good morning/afternoon English teachers. All representations of people and politics are indeed
acts of manipulation as true political agendas must be hidden behind a misleading facade.
Language plays a particularly powerful role in portraying in these political representations.
However ambiguous the political motive may be, control is the ultimate goal in the world of
politics. Contrary to popular belief, not all acts of manipulation are inherently immoral or solely
pragmatic. King Henry IV: Part 1(1596 1597), the second historical play of the Henriad, by William
Shakespeare, provides insight into these ideas as his own work is as such a representation of
people and politics of the Elizabethan Era, two hundred years before his own time.... Show more

The portrayal of Prince Hal is exemplary of Shakespeare s use of manipulation to position the
audience to favour a political figure. Initially he sets himself a bad impression to the audience
by being brash and irresponsible. Prince Hal s relationship to Falstaff and company was a tool
for him in order to create for himself a notorious image which he could later shed and expose his
true valor. At the end of Act 1, Scene 2, Hal, through his soliloquy, shows that he has a
completely different perspective on his own actions, conceding that they are unsuitable for a
King but that he is engaging in this behaviour for a clear political purpose. Hal uses the central
metaphor of the sun in his speech: Yet herein will I imitate the sun (1.2.157) and creating imagery
of the sun appearing from the clouds, symbolising his glorious rise from his behaviour: Being
wanted, he may be more wondered at/By breaking through the foul and ugly mists (1.2.161 62).
He ends with a rhyming couplet I ll so offend, to make offence a skill,/ Redeeming time when men
think least I will (1.2.176 77). The conclusive effect of the rhyming couplets establishes Hal s intent
to exploit the tendency of humanity to appreciate a change or reformation by behaving poorly

Informative Influences On The Victimization Of American...
Without a doubt, our language usage is becoming increasingly casual. Some argue that this is due to
the influence of American culture. While it is not pervasive, the assimilation of American culture
in Australia can be partly responsible for this trend. However, the predominant reason for our
informal languageuse is due to increasing connectivity through social media and other modern
communication services. Despite this trend, the register of discourses is still dictated by the context
and setting of the situation.
American culture influences the informality of language that Australians employ in everyday life to
some degree, especially for the younger generations. Australians watch a large number of American
movies and TV shows, arguably even more than Australian based entertainment. This has led to the
adoption of informal American colloquialisms such as bro , whatever and chill out by many
Australians. In addition, Bruce Moore remarks, Contemporary teenspeak comes from the world of
teenage popular culture, and this culture is largely American . Teenagers are more open to change
and actively follow new popular trends in vocabulary. Most of these latest developments in
language have originated in America, as it contains 60% of the Anglosphere population. Therefore,

Symptoms And Treatment Of A Tummy Tuck Essay
An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen. In the majority
of cases, separated or weakened muscles can be restored to create a smoother, firmer abdominal
profile. Dr. Sam Gershenbaum is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Miami, FL.
who frequently performs tummy tucks for individuals who want a flatter, firmer looking abdomen.
Reasons People in Miami who Choose to Have a Tummy Tuck
The abdomen is a troublesome area for many people. For many, it seems that no matter how
dedicated they are to working out and watching their diet, their abdomen continues to protrude and
sag. Even people who are of normal body weight and proportion can experience a protruding, loose
abdomen.
Issues that Affect the Appearance and Tone of the Abdomen
Common causes of a protruding and loose abdomen include:
Genetics Prior abdominal surgery Aging Pregnancy Weight fluctuations
Limitations of a Tummy Tuck
An abdominoplasty should not be considered a substitute for eating healthy, following an
appropriate exercise regimen or as a substitute for weight loss. A tummy tuck cannot specifically
address stretch marks. However, stretch marks located on the skin that Dr. Gershenbaum trims
away during the tummy tuck procedure will be removed as well. While the results achieved with a
tummy tuck are permanent, a positive outcome can be affected by substantial fluctuations in an
individual s weight. Therefore, individuals planning

Republican Party Beliefs
The Republican Party believes in conservatism and traditional practices. They are strongly
opposed to same sex marriage and feel that heterosexual marriage is the only right way.
Republicans feel that the only ways to economic profit are free market and individual achievement.
In addition they oppose high tax rates for the wealthy and believe raising the minimum wage is
going to directly hurt the economy. Republicans wish to see increased funding and modernization
to the military. In their eyes, a strong defense system is the only way to peace. The Republican Party
would like a large reform in social security and want workers to control their own retirement
investments.
On the other hand, the Democratic Party generally supports workers rights and government
programs to help people in need. The democrats are for same sex marriage and fight for their
equality. They feel that our economy should help everyone not just the wealthy, and that big
business and corporations pay their fair share of taxes. In addition, they want to prevent business
from taking advantage of the public. Democrats feel that there are better ways to make peace with
terrorism such as through diplomacy and only using force when necessary. They also believe that

Religious Iconography Essay
Religious iconography has been adopted by all religions around the world. In general,
Iconography is a symbolic image which implies the meaning of a particular subject such as
religious and legendary purpose ( Iconography , n.d.). For iconography of art, the presence of
things within the one single piece of art could hugely convey a meaningful comprehension of a
particular religionmore profoundly. And that is considered as one of the significant reasons why
artists put a lot of effort to create an artwork with implication immersed in it. Because the more
implications will allow people to find more information in depth and understand that there are
numerous elements which we can refer to which finally those elements become an iconof a
particular religion. For artwork, there is no right or wrong understanding of perceiving arts. In
contrast, for religious iconography, the definition of each symbol is fixed within their own

Mckinsey And Its Secret Influence On American Business Essay
McKinsey consultants suggest that firms need to change with changing industry conditions and
that often firms needs to choose between protecting what they have built versus letting them go to
make room to focus on new business opportunities (McDonald, Duff (September 10, 2013). The
Firm: The Story of McKinsey and its Secret Influence on American Business. Simon Schuster).
McKinsey s further supports this position with their three horizons model that replaces core
businesses in decline with new growth options (McGrath; Ian MacMillan (March 16, 2009).
Discovery Driven Growth: A Breakthrough Process to Reduce Risk and Seize Opportunity. Harvard
Business Review Press. p. 198). At the product level, we see products transitioning through different
stages of their lifecycle. Products move from introduction to growth and maturity stages, eventually
passing into commoditization and ultimately falling into decline. Each stage of the product life
cycle requires differing strategies to achieve successful product commercialization. Rangan and
Bowman make a distinction in that although products are called commodities, it is the relationship
between the product and the market that should be characterized as commoditization. Changing
market dynamics signal a shift towards commoditization. Customer reluctance to pay for product or
service, pressure on price, low customer loyalty, buyer s perception of little differentiation amongst
suppliers, price as the only selection criteria, are some

How Animation Can Bring The Dullest Of The Features And...
Introduction
In a sense Animation can bring the dullest of the features and bring it to life. It s like magic that
gives the most seemingly inanimate objects different kind of emotions and vitality. Animation
made its way to the Multimedia as one of the most attractive and much sought component over the
years.
What is animation? To animate means to impart motion on something that cannot. Animation also
adds the essence of time, which increases the possibility of sending the desired information.
Animator need to specify how the thing they are animating move through time and space.
Decades ago when CGI doesn t exist animators were hand drawing plates for animated films and
cartoons, or relying on stop motion to create realistic effect. The birth of 3D animation was a long
process and cost billions and time to develop. Director of Avatar James Cameron waited around 20
years until 3D animation has advance before starting filming Avatar in 2009.

John Brown Crimes
John Brown s actions at Pottawatomie Creek and Harper s Ferry can be seen as acts of terrorism
by a person or peoples opinion, but a closer study of modern and historic violent actions show he
was a freedom fighter. Certainly, this is factual because there is no actual definition of terrorism, it
is simply an opinion on someone s actions. Therefore, it is almost irrelevant for one be convicted a
terrorist if no one can actually have a justified reasoning behind their choices.
Some may say Brown s childhood had a major impact on some of his violent actions that
occurred later on in his life. When he was very young, he suffered the loss of his mother. As a
result it began to harvest a bit of rage in his heart that would soon turn into a never ending spiral

The Exodus Of The Beginning Of Israel
Exodus marks the start of Israel as a people. They were an extended family, under a dynasty of
strong pharaohs. They oppressed Israel and put them to forced labor, for fear of their number size.
Still, they multiplied faster, therefore, a decree was issued to destroy them by ordering the death of
all baby boys.
At this particular time Moses was born, from the tribe of Levi. Although trained as the son of
Pharaoh s daughter, yet, his own mother was hired to care for him due to her placing him in the
bulrushes at the edge of the Nile River to not be destroyed because of Pharaoh s order to kill all
baby boys. With his mother caring for him, he grew up knowing the plight of his people. Many
years passed approximately 80 when God appeared to Moses as a shepherd in Midian, in a burning
bush and commanded him to go return to Egypt to rescue the Israelites out of slavery.

Descriptive Essay On The Dentist House
The dentist s office was a place the staff and patients dreaded going every day. Simply a small,
dull building on the corner; made up of large grey bricks and tiny, frosted over windows. It was
the dead of winter and snow had already began to fall down gracefully onto the two icy front steps,

The young woman was in noticeable distress. Her dark brown hair was matted, her brow was

legs. A light grey, wool sweater accompanied by a long black overcoat hung all the way down to
her knees. To top it all off, she had on a small grey knitted toque and two leather black gloves to
keep her small body warm in these cold winter months. Her tiny round face was covered in
miniature freckles and her worried blue eyes wandered all around as she entered the building
looking for reception. It smelled like mint and soap and the lighting was dim given two of the
overhead lights had burnt out. Since she was aware that she was already behind schedule and did

OVERVIEW
The cellular functions of chaperones are vital to all living organisms from prokaryotes to man.
Molecular chaperones are stress proteins that are involved in inhibition of protein aggregation and
that participate in numerous normal cellular processes such as protein folding, assembly, and
transportation of secretory or transmembrane proteins. The largest chaperone is the glucose
regulated protein 170 (Grp170). It it evolutionarily related to the hsp70 superfamily and resides in

One limitation of the early work on UPR induction is that it analyzed who worm gene
expression. It did not look to see if the response was limited to particular tissues or if GRP170 is
essential to normal protein folding throughout the nematode. The goal of my research is to
investigate the tissue specificity of the role of GRP170a and GRP170b in protein folding. To
study the cell specificity of UPR, I will use a reporter transgene that expresses GFP in cells
undergoing UPR. I will conduct genetic crosses to introduce this transgene into a genetic
background deficient for GRP170a or GRP170b. I will use fluorescence microscopy to identify
which cells in the GRP170 deficient worms are undergoing UPR. That will indicate which cells
GRP170 s are essential for normal protein folding. Learning which cells depend on GRP170 will
provide insight into the role of GRP170 of the multicellular animals.

1700X CPU (Central Processing Unit), 16 GB (Gigabytes) of Crucial Ballistics 2666 MHz DDR4
RAM (Random Access Memory), a Gigabyte GA Gaming 5 Motherboard, a 500 GB Samsung 850
EVO SSD (Solid State Drive), a 650 Watt PSU (Power Supply), an MSI GTX 1080ti GPU
(Graphics Processing Unit), a NZXT S340 Elite case, 2x NZXT RGB 120mm fans and a Hue +,
and a NZXT Kraken x42 AIO (All In One) Liquid cooler. First, I set the CPU in the AM4 Socket
on the MoBo (Motherboard) and installed the RAM into socket 1 and socket 3 (Running the RAM
in dual channel on a Ryzen system allows the computerto work much faster than running them in
single channel). Next, I installed the AIO cooler to the build and the PSU so that I could start a
POST (Power On Self Test) to see if any of my components are DOA (Dead On Arrival).

AMD (The creators of the Ryzen chip that I installed into the board) CPUs don t have integrated

the PSU and plugged my GPU into one of the PCIE slots on the MoBo and shorted out the power
button pins again and finally the system booted up and I saw the POST

Looking for Alibrandi Pressure from Parents Essay
LOOKING FOR ALIBRANDI ESSAY
Looking for Alibrandi does show the different expectations placed on young people. These
expectations can be in many different forms due to race or nationality or pressure to pursue a
certain career path. In the novel this is shown clearly in Josephine Alibrandi and John Bartons life.
Josephine has high expectations to be a stereotypical Italian girl and John Barton has a lot of
pressure from his father to become a barrister and follow in his footsteps. Jacob Coote is also
another character that has different expectations to family ones, his come from the general view of
the public and society.

Sick Building Syndrome In The 1970 s
In the 20th century, office buildings were noted to be very gendered spaces, especially in the
beginnings of the 1970s and throughout the 1980s. Women were linked to the identity of being
office workers and were the majority that had complaints about the symptoms of sick building
syndrome. The role of women raised awareness about this ignored existence of sick building
syndrome. Women would type and work on a task all day long in front of their computers and
were very restricted to their office desk. These office desks were arranged in rows and a
supervisor would keep an eye on them. The most common injury among office workers was strain

The Importance Of Greed In Today And Today
Greed. Each and every single human being has the feeling of greed. Humans receive love and
care but will never feel satisfied. Instead, they will only desire more. Someone claps in applause
for another but that other will just want more. A person will always have more and another will
want to be like them. They will never feel content. That constant feeling is greed. The feeling will
always be present because enough will never be enough. More now than ever, Americans,
especially children, have become much more greedy and expect much more out of the world than
generations before our timedid.
Around the time of the 1950s, Christmas was the best time of the year that everyone waited for
likewise as it is today. It used to be that only a few presents were given to each kid whereas today
children get countless presents in which their parents blow hundreds of dollars on. Not only the
amount of presents, but the types of presents differ in today s society as well. Today s presents are
items such as the newest iPhone or MacBook rather than receiving underwear and a cabbage
patch doll like children used to. Children were thrilled to open the one or two gifts they received
unlike today where if a child doesn t obtain the newest version of the IPhone, it turns into a temper
tantrum and ungratefulness for the rest of the gifts. Falling asleep on Christmas eve was also a
problem due eagerness compared to children today that just think it s a normal day because kids

Colesworth Organisational Structure
Colesworth is a chain of supermarkets that operates across Australia that is also present in other
industries, such as financial services. My role at Colesworth is a part time employee in the grocery
department at one of their main stores, and thus most of my analysis will focus on this department.
As an organisation, Colesworth, like most human service organisations, is a bureaucracy, consisting
of a vast hierarchal structure and high degrees of labour division (Gardner, 2006). Colesworth s
hierarchal structure is that of a tall one, having casual and part time employees report to duty
managers, who then report to a department manager, with the process continuing up the hierarchy
to the store manager. This hierarchy is quite formal, with workloads... Show more content on

The decentralised nature of how Colesworth stores operate carries over to the management
structure too, with there being multiple different managers for different departments existing
alongside traditional upper management. This low power distance also contributes to the
previously mentioned laid back culture of the Colesworth grocery department, as managers are
referred to by their first names like any other employee and will often joke around with
employees and take interest in their lives. However, despite this low power distance,
management s authority is still very much rooted in a rational legal basis. As Colesworth is still a
bureaucracy it follows the rational legal authority as outlined by Max Weber, in which clear cut
structures, and formalised procedure, and rules are followed (Gardner, 2006). These structures and
rules are seen clearly within Colesworth, as employees are structured into different departments in
which they work and must follow clear procedure and rules when completing work in their
departments. Despite being predominately rational legal based authority, a select few managers do
command charismatic authority alongside their rational legal authority, as they are seen as friends
by employees, as well as managers and are able to use this relationship to motivate employees to

The Islamic Revolution Of Iran
The 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran changed the geo political landscape of the Middle East and
ushered in more than three decades of hostility with the United States. In the aftermath, the leaders
of the revolution proclaimed their intent to export their vision of political Islam to the rest of the
region and help Irantake its rightful place as a regional hegemon. In 1979, the US was embroiled in
the Cold War and in the minds of the American public, the Middle Eastwas little more than a Cold
War sideshow. For those who paid attention, the Israeli Palestinian conflict was the dominant issue
in the region. The overthrow of Mohammed Reza Shah, and the events that followed, forced Iran
into the US national consciousness. A little known Shi a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The regime s parading of blindfolded hostages in front of news cameras had a visceral impact on
the American public. Coupled with extreme anti American rhetoric, the hostage crisis seared Iran
into the American psyche. The 444 day episode helped bring down an American president and
completely changed the US perception of the Middle East.
For thirty seven years, US leaders have viewed Iran as one of America s principal adversaries in
the world. Throughout that period, US policy in the Middle East has either implicitly, or
explicitly, aimed to isolate Iran in an attempt to either bring down the Islamic government, or at a
minimum, moderate its behavior. However, this policy has not only failed, in many ways it has
had the opposite effect. Iran has a xenophobia, deeply rooted in its history that has cultivated a
resentment to even the appearance of foreign influence in its domestic affairs. US attempts to
pressure Iran into moderating its behavior have largely served only to bolster the regime by
solidifying its legitimacy in the eyes of many Iranians. The conservative hardline in Iran is rooted
in a platform of resistance to western influence and the US, as the West s standard bearer, in
particular. Confrontation and coercive diplomacy have only reinforced the internal Iranian narrative
of the regime as nobly standing up to imperialist western powers. Iran s often extreme rhetoric is

African American Male Self Esteem Essay
African American men s experiences of racism are believed to contribute to low self esteem
(Utsey, Ponterotto, Reynolds, Cancelli, 2000). Yet researchers have found evidence that suggests
African Americans explicit self esteem is equal to that of members of non stigmatized groups
(Crocker Major, 1989). In contrast to explicit self esteem, implicit self esteem is a spontaneous,
automatic, and unconscious evaluation of one s own worth (Baccus, Baldwin, Packer, 2004). In
addition, it is thought that social behavior operates in an unconscious manner (Baccus et al.,
2004). As a result, the question of whether it is mainly implicit self esteem that influences social
behavior has been raised and researched (Bosson, Brown, Zeigler Hill, Swann, 2003). However,
the role of implicit self esteem as an influence of social behavior for African Americanmen is
lacking a significant amount of empirical research.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Maladaptive behaviors are actions or tendencies that hinder an individual from adjusting to
situations (Weiss, 1999). Maladaptive behavior can range from minor to severe behaviors that are
tolerable and safe to behaviors that are disruptive, dysfunctional and harmful to the individual
(Weiss, 1999). Additionally, maladaptive behaviors are formed as a way of coping with emotional
and mental discomfort as well as anxiety, but the actions typically result in a compounding of the
problem. Examples of maladaptive behavior include substance abuse, attention seeking behavior,
perfectionism, materialism, and sex addiction (Weiss, 1999; Rice Lopez,

Discoveries And Inventions Are Not Born From Nothingness
Discoveries and inventions are not born from nothingness. If necessity were the mother of
invention, an apt father would be a combination of curiosity, scientific temperament and research

advanced research in an application oriented field, by obtaining my Masters degree in Electrical
engineering. As a stepping stone toward this dream, I am pursuing my Bachelor of Technology

I used a zero crossing comparator to convert sine, square, triangle and other cycle waveforms to

projects that included constructing a traffic light control system using 89S51 microcontroller,
and building an A/D and D/A converter using basic components such as ICs, diodes, transistors
and resistors. Also, I successfully built an obstacle detector and line following robot using
Arduino Uno as the microcontroller. Such projects along with courses like Digital Signal

bolstered my idea of pursuing graduate studies. My interest in this field has been instrumental in
conceptualizing two very crucial projects that could directly touch people s lives and impact their
well being. The first one was designing a cost effective temperature controlled baby incubator,
and incorporate auditory systems. The biggest complication was to ensure the product s efficacy
and safety at low cost. Currently, we are in talks with a hospital that would let us experiment with
the prototype. The other challenging project I undertook was to devise a stress meter using Fuzzy
logic and case based reasoning (CBR). The concept involved developing a wearable galvanic skin

Declaration Of The Rights Of Man Essay
Many revolutionaries and peasants insist on revoking Article 17 of the Declaration of the Rights
of Man, which declares that property is a sacred and inviolable right. The National Assembly has
already seized and sold much of the land of the Catholic Church, and even peasants have taken
thousands of manor houses. The most extreme and wild radicals seek to eliminate all rights to
property. If these radicals and revolutionaries succeed in eliminating a right to property and in
confiscating all of the wealth in France, they will eventually cripple France s intellectual creativity.
Furthermore, France will resemble the horrific and savage state which Rousseau cherishes because

Burke notes that Title 1 of the pending constitution guarantees the inviolability of property or a
just and prior indemnity for that of which a legally established public necessity may demand the
sacrifice. How can the inviolability of property possibly be reconciled with the National
Assembly grabbing the lands of the nobility and the Catholic Church? Burke also goes on to
wonder what will happen next if the state begins to take away one institution or person s
property. In his writing, Burke states It is not the confiscation of our church property from this
example in France that I dread, though I think this would be no trifling evil. The great source of
my solicitude is, lest it should ever be considered in England as the policy of a state, to seek a
resource in confiscations of any kind; or that any one description of citizens should be brought to
regard any of the others as their proper prey. Revolutions and their radicals are favourable to
confiscation, while government is needed to subdue men s passions, including their greed for the

The World s Largest Gas Company For Gas
For over 40 years, Europe has been relying on Russia for the importation of energy, such as oil.5
One of Russia s major gas company, Gazprom, is one of the world s largest gas distributing
companies, causing many countries to become dependent on the Russian company for gas. In
2015 alone, Gazprom exported around 158 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe, and of those
European countries to have received gas, Germany was the highest, with an import of 45.31 billion
cubic meters of Gazprom gas. Countries in the Baltic region and countries in south eastern Europe
are usually very dependent on Russian gas. The European Unionis Russia s most involved trading
partner, especially when it comes in terms of oil. About 41% of Russia s exports are sent to EU
countries.7 According to Gazprom s statistics, Western European countries make up 82% of
Gazprom s exports, and Central European countries make up 18% of their exports.3 These
numbers are significant because it displays Europe s major dependence on Russian oil, which is a
major problem, because of Russia s ability to deprive Europe of energy at any given time, as shown
from 2006 to 2009, when Russia cut off Ukraine s gas line due to disputes regarding gas prices.23
If Russia decides to shut off gas to a region, it can lead to people being without ways to heat their
homes or cook their food, leaving a big liability on the people. Europe s vulnerability to these gas
shortages gives Russian leverage over many EU countries who heavily

Jean Jacques Rousseau And Mary Wollstonecraft
The Age of Enlightenment began in the late 17th century and had some key ideas developed by
education innovators that changed the way that society views children and education. Many of
these ideas stem from the revolutionary work of Jean Jacques Rousseau and Mary Wollstonecraft.
This essay will discuss the main ideas from their work and also how it is reflected in other work
during the Age of Enlightenmentfor educationalists such as Johann Pestalozzi and Robert Owen.
The final aspect of this essay will discuss how these ideas are reflected in early New Zealand
educationand the system.
Jean Jacques Rousseau s ideas about children and education were both admired and criticised
widely. He was regarded as a foundational thinker on education (May, 2013, p.32). Ideas of his
that were praised and inspired other people s work included encouraging infants to be unrestricted
and roam free in the environment. During the time of Rousseau s work, children were swaddled to
prevent bones and muscles from becoming deformed. Rousseau believed that it would be beneficial
for children to have some freedom and interact with the surroundings of the environment. This is
thought to be extremely beneficial for their learning and development. Rousseau also had a view
that male education should be superior to female education. He believed that females should be
educated to become good mothers and wives. Females should be supported by their husbands.
These skills would be taught to them by their

How Yoga Can Help Relieve The Stress That College Students
One would be hard pressed to find a college student who does not deal with high levels of stress.
According to the American College Health Association s annual assessment last year,
approximately 53% of college students reported experiencing above average levels of stress
(ACHA). What s more, 30% of those students said stress had a significant negative impact on their
academic performance (ACHA). Unfortunately, attending college requires students to take on
unavoidably stressful situations, such as paying for tuition and living expenses, rigorous
coursework, and other social and family related obligations. Since the sources of stress cannot be
eliminated for the most part, the best way to students to successfully navigate their college education
is to learn methods for stress management. One of these methods is to practice yoga. In this paper, I
hope to demonstrate how yoga can help relieve the stress that college students experience by
explaining the physical and mental benefits of developing a yoga practice. In addition, I will
address the limitations that college students in the United States may face when getting involved
with yoga, and in turn offer solutions to these limitations. First, I will give a brief overview of the
history of yoga and explain what it is. The word yoga means to unite or connect. It is a spiritual
practiceand system of discipline that originated in India approximately five thousand years ago.

Oprah Winfrey Changed Society
A Show That Changed The American Society
How has Oprah Winfrey affected others? Oprah Winfrey moved many people and changed how
some people live: she affected people s life in a good way. She had a rough life early on, but
people see who she became and how great she actually is. Oprah Winfrey changed society because
of her motivational attitude on the Oprah Winfrey Show. It s almost showtime at the Rosemont
horizon. One of Chicago s most cavernous arenas is filled to the brim for a Lionel Richie concert.
Suddenly an agitated murmur echoes through the hall (Most Talked about tv host 5). A star has
been spotted amidst the Richie worshippers. As word of the celebrity sighting spreads, the crowds
murmur swells to a loud rhythmic chant, OPRAH! OPRAH! OPRAH! Finally Oprah Winfrey is
coaxed into hopping onto a chair. She waved vigorously and crowd erupts into a minute long
ovation. Oprah Winfrey has indeed arrived.
For some people holding the same position in their career for a long time signifies success. In
television however, it is necessary to move on to bigger and better things. With all of her
experience and success so far, she began to dream bigger. She wanted to host a show by herself
but where? She felt cared for and natural in Baltimore where she grew up, but it was time to
move on. Despite the advice of co workers Oprah accepted a job as host of A.M Chicago with a
$200,000 a year salary and a 4 year unbreakable contract. Everybody kept telling me that it was
going to be impossible to succeed because I was going into Phil Donahue s hometown. She moved
to Chicago in December of 1983. By being herself and featuring interesting guests and topics Oprah
won viewers.
In 1985 Oprah fulfilled a second aspiration acting in a movie. During casting for the film The
Color Purple, the co producer Quincy Jones happened to me in a Chicago hotel. While eating
breakfast and flipping channels he stopped on the A.M Chicago show and was impressed with
Oprah s vibrant personality. Jones knew she would be perfect as Sofia in the movie. Oprah had
read the book in Baltimore in 1982 and had bought dozens of copies to give as gifts. It was one of
her favorite works of fiction. In describing her role as Sofia,

M. Butterfly, Written by David Henry Hwang Essay
As a big crucible, the United States is well known for its multiplicity of races. In order to maintain
the diversity, the American government not only receives people from different backgrounds, but
also sends American to all over the world in order to learn from various cultures. Even though
countries become increasingly closer in their relations, there still exists numerous stereotypes and
negative labeling among multi ethnic groups, which are most common between oriental and
western. Along with a sharply risen number of Asian visiting America, Illinois Wesleyan University

This contradiction is what makes the ambiguous title of the play, M. Butterfly.
Stereotype towards Oriental women is one of the main themes in the play. The distressing ending
that brings up Gallimard s suicide is an irreversible result of his distorted thinking toward Asian
women, which blinds him to every truth about Song. As the title implies, Asian women are often
compared to butterflies that are docile and delicate. In fact, the audience will discover that Oriental
women are strong enough to take initiatives in reality. Both Gallimard and Song incorporate
cultural notions into the performance and perception, so that Song is able to exploit Gallimard by
those conventions.
More than stereotypes toward Oriental women, the play also criticizes how the Western
emasculate Oriental from their point of view, like what Gallimard claims in the play, Orientals will
always submit to a greater force. (Act 2, Scene 3) Western flatters themselves that only a Westerner
knows how the Oriental should act, with the view of Oriental as an effeminate female with delicacy
and subservient. As Song explains The West has sort of an international rape mentality towards the
East. (Act 3, Scene 1)
By creating a false image of Song s gender precisely, Hwang brings another remarkable topic in
this play, which is sexism. When Gallimard sees Song performing the dead scene from the opera
Madama Butterfly, he cannot separate her role as a

King Liuokalani Characteristics

components of Hawaiis life. Kamehameha reigned from 1810 to 1819 as the first ruler of all the
Hawaiian Islands. Kamehameha, a strong and determined leader was led to victory for all the
Hawaiian Islands, after many years at battle against his enemies, which included Kahekili, Kiwala

1898 , she was the first woman to be on the throne and also the last reigning monarch of the
Hawaiian Islands(History.com Staff). Liliuokalani was a courageous and respectful leader, she
fought to keep the throne and was persistent in trying to repeal many treaties and constitutions that
her brother was manipulated into signing. (Biography.com) Both leaders were effective leaders in
their own ways and had a great impact on the Kingdom of Hawaii. Kamehameha and Liliuokalani

  • 2. 1800 s Political Changes The early decades of the 1800 s fostered significant political changes (Schultz, 2009). The American politics were becoming more democratic, which resulted in historians referring to this part of history as the the era of the common man. The political changes of the early 1800 s were significantly impacted by the following four reasons: economic booms and busts, expansion of vote, presidential election of 1824, and the second two party system. The economic changes caused by the Market Revolution resulted in a booming economy. However, in 1819 the demand for the American agricultural produce crashed partly due to the European recovery for the Napoleonic War of 1815. Thus, the newly constructed Second Bank of United States, which had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Persuasive Speech About Adoption For those of you who don t know I am adopted. My adoption story may be a little different than other adoption stories. Things had happened at that point or were going to happen in the future that would change me. I was adopted at age 4 and my sister was about 1 at the time. My adoption stayed open which means if I wanted I could still have contact with my birth family. Adoptionin itself teaches you a lot, but sometimes the different things that happen can teach you more. One day my mom came and found me and my sister and told us we had to go somewhere. We went and found our shoes and started heading out the door. My sister and I started hoping down the front steps just about running into a vehicle parked out front. My mom told me and my sister to get in, both of us were kind of scared but we did it anyways. So me and my sister attempted getting into the big vehicle, well it may not have been that big, but to us it seemed like it was. We drove for what seemed like hours till all of a sudden the car stopped. I opened the door and hoped out onto the cold hard cement. I didn t know where we were at, I had never seen this place before. The people in the car and my mom told us to go up to the front steps and they will be right behind us. So me and my sister made our way up the steps and to a big front door. We looked and found a doorbell and chose to push it. After just a little while the door opened and this younger couple looked down at us with huge smiles on their faces. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How To Describe A Jazz Concert I attended the University of Indianapolis Jazz Ensemble on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. The concert was located in the Ruth Lilly Performance Hall at 7:30p.m. The band played a total of eight different songs, varying in the types of jazz. I perceived the overall mood of the whole concert as energizing, powerful, and uplifting. I was also able to apply much of the knowledge that I learned in class to the event. To begin with, the concertstarted out with a piece from Count Basie called Hay Burner. This piece was done by a big band, a band with many instruments and musicians, and that is exactly how it was performed by the University of Indianapolis Jazz Ensemble. The band had a total of four sections: saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and rhythm sections. Throughout the piece, the band focused mostly on the ensemble rather than the soloist, however, the alto saxophone did have a solo. This piece reminded me mostly of the boogie woogie style of jazz, due to its bluesy tones and driving piano style.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, each song was heavily syncopated. The next song that really stuck out to me was originally performed by John Coltrane. The song featured many notes and different Coltrane changes. Coltrane changes are when the chord progressions were even more complex than bebop. The song, Impressions, to me did not seem to fit into any category that was learned in the classroom. It mostly just sounded like an upbeat flourish of notes. Both the trombones and trumpets used mutes, giving their instrument an airy, deeper sound. They used those at the beginning and end of the song, giving it a unique ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore Pete was turned in by the sirens and they were forced to leave with the frog they thought was Pete. This shows that Everett was determined to keep going and he did not stop. As a result, they ascertained the frog was not Pete. Everett and Odysseus were both determined towards their own goals and did not give up. This also gives people some type of perpus in life and makes them want to contribute to society. Over time this type of behavior become a pattern. Emile Durkheim was the one who came with this theory. What is social disorganization? Social disorganization is when someone does not care about the rules and acts a certain way. • 7. Dysfunctional College Campuses College campuses function as a collective organization, meaning that all of the offices and departments play an integral role in making the college experience great. The departments need to work together to guide students in matters such as financial aid, class registration, student accounts, and so many more. For example, if a new studentwere to contact the CONNECTIONs Orientation office and ask about their housing, the department secretary should either know how to answer the question, or know who to connect the student with. The current issue that we are finding on campus is that offices aren t working together. Students are being directed to a different office, each time being told that the answer will be at the following office, and these types of experiences can make or break whether a student wants to come back to Kutztown University. Organizational structure and connectedness are necessary to avoid a dysfunctional campus environment. The issue does not only affect the students that have to... Lots of components of what should be determined as a perfect working structure for an organization. This makes it complicated as a strategy and lenthy because each of its subsections will require programs to address each sub part. • 9. Women In The Little Mermaid The concept of portraying women as incomplete, or not fully developed, without a male counterpart to fill the voids left in their personalities furthers the argument that films such as The Little Mermaid allow females to feel as if they are not enough for themselves, in and of themselves. Susan White addresses the implications of the film surrounding the outlandish expectations for women to be confined within traditional roles in order to actually obtain the title of womanwhen she writes, The film implies that the sense of freedom necessary to exploration and accomplishment must finally be curbed if one is to become a woman (183). The first of these problematic circumstances is the breeding of feelings of discontent in one s own company as Ariel finds that life in her underwater kingdom is simply not enough if she cannot have the love of a practical stranger. This idea encourages women to lower their standards for men in their romantic endeavors simply to make themselves feel as though they are desirable. This behavior results in toxic relationships, low self esteem, and overall dissatisfaction in matters which transcend the relationship itself. However, if the audience is made aware of the flaws in the design of the main character s ideals of what makes a positive and functioning relationship, the film presents an opportunity for the audience to elaborate on the detriment brought upon the main character by her own disregard for self preservation and lacking consideration for thoughts beyond that of hasty, misguided affection or preventable sacrifice; regrettably, young children are often incapable of grasping this complex this complex approach to the film. Instead they take what is presented to them at face value and apply it to themselves in that respect alone; had The Little Mermaid been intended for older audiences, this approach would appear more logical, but since its target audience is young children, the effect of inverting the messages in the film to acknowledge societal flaws is lost, and the results left upon young viewers is less ... • 10. 1960s Social Culture There has been many times in history where social culture has changed. In fact, social culture is always changing. In the early 1900s to the 1920s, many social changes came into play. The automobile became more and more accessible and convenient as roads were paved. Fashion had changed from layers upon layers and the idea of modesty for women to the bold, daring flapper girl and men wearing suits. After World War II, another social change; furthermore, one to remember occurred the baby boom. A new generation was born full of new ideas of fashion, diet, lifestyle, and taste in music. This is the generation that would soon become familiar with the famous quote of Timothy Leary, Tune out, turn on, and drop out. This is also the generation that completely disregarded their parent s traditional beliefs and became members of an era of intense individualism where eccentricity was popular. This eccentricity included the use of Marijuana and psychedelic drugs, vegetarianism diets, birth control, stand out fashion, and a new taste in music. Many of... As they found interest in Hesse s words, the counterculture began to form. In addition, the Beat Generation, a group of American artists and writers, created artwork and literature alongside of Hesse s. • 11. The Future Of The Ncaa Seth M. Marshall Professor Kristen Bradley English 1010 9 November 2015 The Future of the NCAA College athletic programs are among the most popular sporting events in America. With this rise in popularity, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and its colleges have also seen a rise in revenue in recent years. In 2014, the NCAA made over 900 million dollars in revenue. Some collegiate coaches, such as Kentucky s John Calipari, have yearly salaries in the millions, not counting incentives and endorsement deals. While, clearly, moneyis being made, NCAA regulations ban collegiate athletes from being paid. Many question this rule and argue that athletes at the college level earn and deserve pay for play. The debate to pay or not to pay college athletes rages on despite the latest court ruling supporting NCAA policies. Because colleges and universities earn such a profit from sporting events, many fans feel it is only fair to distribute some of the wealth to the players. Supporters of paying student athletes feel that these young men and women should be fairly compensated for the time demanded of the athletes and the stress put on the athletes, physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. Those in favor of paying college athletes contend that athletic and academic work ethic at both high school and collegiate levels will improve, as well as, fiscal responsibility in these young adults. This medium mass star follows on the same path as any other medium mass star: First star birth, then through the main sequence, into a red giant, contracted into a white dwarf, and finally cooled into a black dwarf. Vega started out its life just as any other star, as a nebula. The cloud of dust and gas condenses and temperatures rise, until it is hot enough for fusion of hydrogen into helium can take place. When Vega was able to fuse hydrogen into helium, it was classified as a main sequence star, which is the phase in it s life cycle that it is currently in. • 16. The Leading Causes Of The Opium Wars The Leading Causes of the Opium Wars The Opium Wars were a series of conflicts that eventually led to China s decline through the trade and abuse of the drug opium. The first of the Opium Wars (1839 42) was fought between China and Britain, and the second war (1856 1860) involved France as well. In both wars, the foreign powers triumphed over China, causing havoc, causing the fall of the Qing dynasty. Prior to the Opium Wars, China was full of rich culture, remarkable goods, and useful inventions. They had invented gunpowder, kites, and porcelain, all of which were in demand. The Qing dynasty had believed that they were superior to other countries, and refused to let any foreigners access any Chinese territory. There was only one area where trade was permitted, and it was inside the province of Canton, though payments were only allowed to be made in silver. The largest demand was for silk and tea from China, but England had a limited amount of the silver to trade. So instead, they began to trade Opium to China. Opium was in high demand at the time, and many merchants accepted it as currency for goods. With Britain having control of several poppy fields in India, producing large amounts of the drug was not a problem. The trade of opium was the root cause of the Opium Wars, but other causes such as China s unfair trade superiority, the economic opportunity the west saw in the trade, and the addiction to the drug all helped cause the wars as well. Marcus Going To The Theater Play Analysis Theater performances in antiquity were typically dedicated to a pagan god or goddess, and the plays often ran as part of larger public religious festivals. Scenes portraying blatant immorality were commonplace. All this proved rather troubling to the early church. Christian leaders, such as Tertullian, spoke out in opposition to the idea of believers going to the theater: Why is it right to look on what it is disgraceful to do? How is it that the things which defile a man in going out of his mouth, are not regarded as doing so when they go in at this eyes and ears when eyes and ears are the immediate attendants of the spirit? Marcus s pastor, Eucratius, naturally wondered how it could be acceptable for Marcus to teach others what he himself was forbidden to do. Yet Marcus had already made a tremendous sacrifice to follow Jesus. So Eucratius wrote to his spiritual mentor, Cyprian of Carthage, to ask whether such a man ought to remain in communion with us. Cyprian s reaction to Marcus was unequivocal: It is not in keeping with the reverence due to the majesty of God and with the observance of the gospel teachings for the honor and respect of the church to be polluted by contamination at once so degraded and so scandalous. In one, we are absorbed by it; we accept its rendition of reality because it occupies our view. We are like children whose parents define their world. The lifelikeness and seamlessness of media fabrications and the fact that they are entertaining, help induce this attitude in us. We frequently experience it while reading news stories and watching television and movies. In the second attitude, we distance ourselves from media. We examine its meaning and try to understand the intentions of its authors. This second attitude is what makes criticism and freedom possible. In life, we frequently switch from one attitude to another and mix them together. In watching television, we may easily become absorbed in the program. Then something will jar us out of our spell, such as a breakdown in the illusion or the expression of ideas we disagree with. As a result, we will suddenly distance ourselves from what we are watching, and perhaps ridicule it or suspect the intentions of its creators. At the end of Act 1, Scene 2, Hal, through his soliloquy, shows that he has a completely different perspective on his own actions, conceding that they are unsuitable for a King but that he is engaging in this behaviour for a clear political purpose. • 34. Mckinsey And Its Secret Influence On American Business Essay McKinsey consultants suggest that firms need to change with changing industry conditions and that often firms needs to choose between protecting what they have built versus letting them go to make room to focus on new business opportunities (McDonald, Duff (September 10, 2013). The Firm: The Story of McKinsey and its Secret Influence on American Business. Simon Schuster). McKinsey s further supports this position with their three horizons model that replaces core businesses in decline with new growth options (McGrath; Ian MacMillan (March 16, 2009). Discovery Driven Growth: A Breakthrough Process to Reduce Risk and Seize Opportunity. Harvard Business Review Press. p. 198). At the product level, we see products transitioning through different stages of their lifecycle. Products move from introduction to growth and maturity stages, eventually passing into commoditization and ultimately falling into decline. Each stage of the product life cycle requires differing strategies to achieve successful product commercialization. Rangan and Bowman make a distinction in that although products are called commodities, it is the relationship between the product and the market that should be characterized as commoditization. Changing market dynamics signal a shift towards commoditization. Customer reluctance to pay for product or service, pressure on price, low customer loyalty, buyer s perception of little differentiation amongst suppliers, price as the only selection criteria, are some ... It s like magic that gives the most seemingly inanimate objects different kind of emotions and vitality. Animation made its way to the Multimedia as one of the most attractive and much sought component over the years. What is animation? To animate means to impart motion on something that cannot. Animation also adds the essence of time, which increases the possibility of sending the desired information. Animator need to specify how the thing they are animating move through time and space. Decades ago when CGI doesn t exist animators were hand drawing plates for animated films and cartoons, or relying on stop motion to create realistic effect. John Brown Crimes John Brown s actions at Pottawatomie Creek and Harper s Ferry can be seen as acts of terrorism by a person or peoples opinion, but a closer study of modern and historic violent actions show he was a freedom fighter. Certainly, this is factual because there is no actual definition of terrorism, it is simply an opinion on someone s actions. Therefore, it is almost irrelevant for one be convicted a terrorist if no one can actually have a justified reasoning behind their choices. Some may say Brown s childhood had a major impact on some of his violent actions that occurred later on in his life. When he was very young, he suffered the loss of his mother. As a result it began to harvest a bit of rage in his heart that would soon turn into a never ending spiral of rage. It wasn t long after this loss that Brown witnessed a slave being beaten. It was that moment that Brown began to pursue his goal of ending slavery. Brown made many violent attacks through his long attempt to end slavery. To study the cell specificity of UPR, I will use a reporter transgene that expresses GFP in cells undergoing UPR. I will conduct genetic crosses to introduce this transgene into a genetic background deficient for GRP170a or GRP170b. As an organisation, Colesworth, like most human service organisations, is a bureaucracy, consisting of a vast hierarchal structure and high degrees of labour division (Gardner, 2006). The decentralised nature of how Colesworth stores operate carries over to the management structure too, with there being multiple different managers for different departments existing alongside traditional upper management. However, despite this low power distance, management s authority is still very much rooted in a rational legal basis. As Colesworth is still a bureaucracy it follows the rational legal authority as outlined by Max Weber, in which clear cut structures, and formalised procedure, and rules are followed (Gardner, 2006). These structures and rules are seen clearly within Colesworth, as employees are structured into different departments in which they work and must follow clear procedure and rules when completing work in their departments. For thirty seven years, US leaders have viewed Iran as one of America s principal adversaries in the world. The final aspect of this essay will discuss how these ideas are reflected in early New Zealand educationand the system. Jean Jacques Rousseau s ideas about children and education were both admired and criticised widely. He was regarded as a foundational thinker on education (May, 2013, p.32). Ideas of his that were praised and inspired other people s work included encouraging infants to be unrestricted and roam free in the environment. During the time of Rousseau s work, children were swaddled to prevent bones and muscles from becoming deformed. Rousseau believed that it would be beneficial for children to have some freedom and interact with the surroundings of the environment. This is thought to be extremely beneficial for their learning and development. Rousseau also had a view that male education should be superior to female education. He believed that females should be educated to become good mothers and wives. Females should be supported by their husbands. These skills would be taught to them by their ... • 55. How Yoga Can Help Relieve The Stress That College Students One would be hard pressed to find a college student who does not deal with high levels of stress. According to the American College Health Association s annual assessment last year, approximately 53% of college students reported experiencing above average levels of stress (ACHA). What s more, 30% of those students said stress had a significant negative impact on their academic performance (ACHA). Unfortunately, attending college requires students to take on unavoidably stressful situations, such as paying for tuition and living expenses, rigorous coursework, and other social and family related obligations. Since the sources of stress cannot be eliminated for the most part, the best way to students to successfully navigate their college education is to learn methods for stress management. One of these methods is to practice yoga. In this paper, I hope to demonstrate how yoga can help relieve the stress that college students experience by explaining the physical and mental benefits of developing a yoga practice. In addition, I will address the limitations that college students in the United States may face when getting involved with yoga, and in turn offer solutions to these limitations. First, I will give a brief overview of the history of yoga and explain what it is. The word yoga means to unite or connect. It is a spiritual practiceand system of discipline that originated in India approximately five thousand years ago. Although it is most commonly tied to the religion ... • 56. Oprah Winfrey Changed Society A Show That Changed The American Society How has Oprah Winfrey affected others? Oprah Winfrey moved many people and changed how some people live: she affected people s life in a good way. She had a rough life early on, but people see who she became and how great she actually is. Oprah Winfrey changed society because of her motivational attitude on the Oprah Winfrey Show. It s almost showtime at the Rosemont horizon. One of Chicago s most cavernous arenas is filled to the brim for a Lionel Richie concert. Suddenly an agitated murmur echoes through the hall (Most Talked about tv host 5). A star has been spotted amidst the Richie worshippers. As word of the celebrity sighting spreads, the crowds murmur swells to a loud rhythmic chant, OPRAH! OPRAH! OPRAH! Finally Oprah Winfrey is coaxed into hopping onto a chair. She waved vigorously and crowd erupts into a minute long ovation. Oprah Winfrey has indeed arrived. For some people holding the same position in their career for a long time signifies success. In television however, it is necessary to move on to bigger and better things. With all of her experience and success so far, she began to dream bigger. She wanted to host a show by herself but where? She felt cared for and natural in Baltimore where she grew up, but it was time to move on. Despite the advice of co workers Oprah accepted a job as host of A.M Chicago with a $200,000 a year salary and a 4 year unbreakable contract. Everybody kept telling me that it was going to be impossible to succeed because I was going into Phil Donahue s hometown. She moved to Chicago in December of 1983. By being herself and featuring interesting guests and topics Oprah won viewers. In 1985 Oprah fulfilled a second aspiration acting in a movie. During casting for the film The Color Purple, the co producer Quincy Jones happened to me in a Chicago hotel. While eating breakfast and flipping channels he stopped on the A.M Chicago show and was impressed with Oprah s vibrant personality. Jones knew she would be perfect as Sofia in the movie. Oprah had read the book in Baltimore in 1982 and had bought dozens of copies to give as gifts. It was one of her favorite works of fiction. In describing her role as Sofia, ... • 57. M. Butterfly, Written by David Henry Hwang Essay As a big crucible, the United States is well known for its multiplicity of races. In order to maintain the diversity, the American government not only receives people from different backgrounds, but also sends American to all over the world in order to learn from various cultures. Even though countries become increasingly closer in their relations, there still exists numerous stereotypes and negative labeling among multi ethnic groups, which are most common between oriental and western. Along with a sharply risen number of Asian visiting America, Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, which has never experienced much exotic cultures before, is facing both opportunities and challenges from Asian civilization. As a result, for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This contradiction is what makes the ambiguous title of the play, M. Butterfly. Stereotype towards Oriental women is one of the main themes in the play. The distressing ending that brings up Gallimard s suicide is an irreversible result of his distorted thinking toward Asian women, which blinds him to every truth about Song. As the title implies, Asian women are often compared to butterflies that are docile and delicate. In fact, the audience will discover that Oriental women are strong enough to take initiatives in reality. Both Gallimard and Song incorporate cultural notions into the performance and perception, so that Song is able to exploit Gallimard by those conventions. More than stereotypes toward Oriental women, the play also criticizes how the Western emasculate Oriental from their point of view, like what Gallimard claims in the play, Orientals will always submit to a greater force. (Act 2, Scene 3) Western flatters themselves that only a Westerner knows how the Oriental should act, with the view of Oriental as an effeminate female with delicacy and subservient. As Song explains The West has sort of an international rape mentality towards the East. (Act 3, Scene 1) By creating a false image of Song s gender precisely, Hwang brings another remarkable topic in this play, which is sexism. When Gallimard sees Song performing the dead scene from the opera Madama Butterfly, he cannot separate her role as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
