Essay on Good Night and Good Luck
In Good Night and Good Luck, director George Clooney follows the conflict between outspoken
television journalist Edward R. Murrow and anti communist Senator Joseph McCarthy during the hard
times of the Red Scare. Murrow uses his television show to expose McCarthy s fallacious arguments,
while providing his own opinion on the matter. He begins by defending former Air Force pilot Milo
Radulovich as not being the Communist agent McCarthy charges him to be. Due to his radical
messages against McCarthy, advertisers begin pulling their advertisements. Thus Good Night and
Good Luck was placed at an undesired time slot on Sunday afternoons, and allotted five last episodes.
The conflict between Murrow and McCarthy is so deep that due to his ... Show more content on

The only variable evidence that McCarthy possesses for this claim is the knowledge that Murrow has
been a member of the leftist union Industrial Workers of the World, which Murrow denies. (Clooney)
This meager piece of evidence lacks enough substance to make a bold claim labeling a pioneering
journalist such as Murrow into Communism territory. Though he may have been a member of this
union, accusing Murrow of being a Communist solely due to his membership is very narrow minded.
The fact of the matter is that McCarthy continuously fails to attest genuine testimony as to why he
makes accusations again and again. Even though he may seem outspoken in his approach, Murrow
proves a valid point as he reveals the error in McCarthy s thinking as he falsely accuses Radulovich of
being a Communist. Due to lack of solid evidence, McCarthy has no stance while accusing
Radulovich. Though his sister s political leanings suggest Communism, Radulovich can only speak for
himself and not his sister. (Clooney) Labeling Radulovich a communist, solely based on his family s
alliances is synonymous with claiming that Murrow is a Communist due to his membership in a leftist
union. It seems like McCarthy is on a witch hunt of sorts, out to call out anyone who goes against the
government or spoke ill of government practices. McCarthy orders the interrogation of Pentagon
communication worker Annie Lee Moss, solely based on her name appearing on a blacklist.

Raymond Carver Narrator
Anyone who has read Raymond Carvers Cathedral knows that the narrator is not looking forward or
welcoming his guest into his home. Also, he is not being very sympathetic of what this man s
condition that he lives with is, being blind. The Narrator must learn to be more sympathetic in his life,
and should learn from this experience, with this older bling man. Raymond Carver uses his narrator
non sympathetic ways effectively throughout the story, developing of the narrator from the beginning
to the end, and how the narrator would not be as effective if he showed sympathy throughout the short
story. The narrator fails to show sympathy throughout the story to show that the man not judge him for
what he is, to show the Its really something moment, and to show the problems of the couple
underneath what is happening. First, Carver uses his non sympathetic narrator effectively throughout
the short story, by showing that the blind man can see more than him sometimes. The narrator says
from the beginning that he does not like how this blind man is coming to visit him and his wife. He
knows that that the blind man and his wife have had known each other longer than the two of them
have known each other. Instead of welcoming his wife s old friend, he categorizes her friend with her
past. Showing the narrator is jealous and pity, which then makes you wonder if Robert, the blind man,
was involved in her suicide attempt or her divorce. This explains how Robert would have a better

Meursault s Dichotomy
In the novel The Stranger by Albert Camus, Meursault, the protagonist narrator, is an absurdist,
detached and deathly honest man who refuses to lie about himself to save his life. He is an
independent man, one who will not accept God, or any of society s formulas for happiness. In
developing this character, Camus needed to sustain the distant tone used to develop the plot and
Meursault s character. However, further development of this character required more than just the
distant tone. Camus developed Meursault through the use and creation of minor characters with roles
important to no aspect of the plot and who serve no purpose other than the development of Meursault
s character. In his novel The Stranger, Camus uses the roles of minor ... Show more content on

Camus creation of the boss portrays the archetype of a typical, run of the mill man in Meursault s
world. Several encounters with his boss reveal a strict dichotomy and harsh disconnect between the
mentality of Meursault and the concerns of the outside world. In the early stages of the novel,
Meursault rants to the reader about the hand washing experience at his workplace. He explains that
before leaving for lunch each day at midday, he takes care and makes certain to wash his hands; he
enjoys performing this action and even looks forward to doing so everyday. In light of the importance
of this ritual to Meursault, he explains that the experience in the evenings is regrettably not of similar
quality. In stark contrast to the delightful experience of washing his hands at midday, he describes the
experience in the evening as being less pleasant, as the roller towel, after being used by so many
people, is usually sopping wet by the time Meursault gets to use it. Meursault is so bothered by this
circumstance that he even brings it to his employer s notice. Although his boss agrees that this saga is
regrettable, he explains to Meursault that to his mind, it is really but a minor detail (Camus 25). This
encounter reveals that outsiders deem Meursault s motivations mere, minor, and unworthy. Camus
inclusion of this tale also shows the reader that Meursault is not the paradigm male that existed in the
setting; although Meursault supports his argument very well, others don t care enough to change it.
For others, the fact that one towel has to last the whole day (25) is a mere detail unworthy of change;
however, to Meursault, this is the one detail he takes issue and initiative with. With this story, Camus
reveals a stark disconnect between Meursault and the outside world. Further, in another episode with
his boss, Camus again develops this dichotomy and shows how

Essay about Richard Hofstadter s The Age of Reform
Richard Hofstadter s The Age of Reform
In 1955, Richard Hofstadter wrote his Pulitzer Prize winning book The Age of Reform, about the
Gilded Age. Hofstadter s arguments about the Populist and Progressive movements and their origins
started debate and renewed scholarship on the Populist and Progressive movements. Many historians
did not agree with Hofstadter s arguments and published their own papers stating their conclusions
based on their own research. This scenario occurs all the time in the history field. One historian writes
a book or paper and other historians accept or reject his arguments by doing their own research and
making their own conclusions. Many historians wrote about the Progressive era after Hofstadter did.

He argues that for the early part of the history of the United States the culture of the nation centered on
the farmer and the agrarian myth. The agrarian myth is that the independent family farmer was what
drove the nation. Hofstadter states that framers enjoyed a certain privileged status in society. He
argues that by the late 1870s this image or status was in decline and that farmers began to resent this
loss of status. He asserts that the Populist movement was born out of this resentment. He explains that
this resentment towards city dwellers those whose opinion of farming was declining was why many
Populists described the city as crime infested and disliked immigrants. He viewed populists as being
hysterical, raving, and very nativist. He says that the ideas expressed by the Populists made their way
to the cities where professionals latched on to them. These professionals he argued felt the pinch from
immigrants and crime. These professionals became the members of the Progressive movement. He
viewed progressives as more practical, less hysterical, and more patronizing. To Hofstadter the
Populist and Progressive movements were borne out of a status revolution in the United States.
Hofstadter presents an interesting argument to explain Populism and Progressivism. At the root of his
argument is that people are more likely to feel resentment when their status is at stake rather then
when their income or jobs are. This is an interesting

Due to overcapacities in the airline business, made evident by the major financial difficulties of
Sabena and Swiss Air in the last months, most companies are therefore trying to define, acquire and
keep those customer groups most important to them. Recently the nature of competition has changed.
The creation of Star Alliance and oneworld has resulted in more cooperation between the members
and fiercer competition with other alliances and their member companies. A major obstacle to
comparing companies within the airline market is the highly regulated market structure, which allows
for only imperfect competition. Often the national carriers are seen as symbols of national pride and
enjoy a privileged status domestically.

Ivan Niven s Proof Of Pi Being Irrational
Ivan Niven s Proof of Pi Being Irrational The proof of pi being irrational can be done by contradiction.
To do this, Niven first assumed that π =a / b, for relatively prime integers, a and b. He then created a
polynomial function of power 2n that depends on the constant a and b. Next, define the polynomial for
a constant integer n, which Ivan Niven used in his proof:
This function f(x) has properties that are required in proving that pi is irrational. One property is that
when f(x) =0; then f(x) = f(π x) : For the polynomial n!f(x) = xn(a bx)n, the term (a bx)n can be
expanded into a new polynomial with integer coefficients ranging from power 0 to n using the
binomial theorem. Each of these terms get multiplied by the term xn. Thus, ... Show more content on

Lastly, Niven showed how the integral of f(x) sin(x) cannot always be an integer for all n values.
Since sin(x) is always bounded between 0 and 1 when x is bounded between 0 and π, it can be stated
that f(x) sin(x) f(x). Niven used what he has stated before: f(x) = xn(a bx)n/n!, and showed how that (a
bx) a when x is bounded between 0 and π. From this Niven stated that must be a smaller value than
(a)n. Similarly, when x is bounded between 0 and π, the term xn must be between 0 and πn. Niven
took all of these properties and functions and stated

How Did Popular Music Affect The Civil Rights Movement
Music during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960 s Music, and particularly cultural, social, and
political songs, has remained an essential facet of the longstanding tradition of uprisings and struggle
for change in American culture. It is difficult to fathom the passions and purposefulness of pop culture
music in the civil rights movement of the 1960s; thanks to the freedom songs, whose endeavor was to
mobilize and reinforce collective participation in the civil rights campaigns, demonstrations, and
protests (Stefani, 2015). The three songs from this period that exemplify popular music s role in
calling for positive change regarding civil rights included We Shall Overcome by Southern African
American tobacco workers, Ain t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round by Freedom Singers, and People
Get Ready by Curtis Mayfield. We Shall Overcome , performed by one of the musical ensembles
Southern African American tobacco workers was one of the popular freedom songs during the civil
rights movement of 1960s. This song was emblematic of the civil rights period. Fundamentally, the
song accompanied the protests and explored the labor conditions for Southern African American
tobacco workers. The part of the song s lyrics that states I ll be all right someday is a clear illustration
of the hostile working conditions and thus the hope for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

part of the song s lyrics follows: Ain t gonna let nobody, turn me round/ Turn me round/ Turn me

lyrics, the idea of remaining strong in the face of hostility is illustrated by the idea of keeping on

Aggression In Martha Stewart And Everybody Loves Raymond
On the television there is way too much negativity that influence the youth and adults mind when we
do not even know what is going on. The three television programs I observed had the following:
physical, verbal, and relational (bullying). In the television show Martha Stewart she had few
aggression in her show. In The Fairly Oddparents, it had way more aggression than Martha Stewart
and Everybody Loves Raymond. Now Everybody Loves Raymond has fewer more tv agressions than
Martha Stewart. What is put on the television for the young and adults has an affect on our minds.
The show Martha Stewart had not so much physical aggression in the show. When it came to verbal
there was a lot more aggression there. The relational (bullying) was less than the verbal aggression.
There was only two tally mark that rated the physical aggression for this show. In physical aggression
Martha Stewart will act like a celebrity and just joke around thinking it would not hurt them and think
it is a harmless game. For verbal aggression there was six tally marks that was a ranking. In the show
she makes side jokes about celebrities and there mostly not side jokes but ... Show more content on

The Unjust Double Standards In Cosi By Lewis Nowra
Realism is a significant style of theatre as it enables audience to empathise, thus this style can educate,
empower and challenge audiences. Realism is an aesthetic mode which broke with the classical
demands of art to show life as it should be in order to show life as it is (Christopher Keep, 2000). Cosi
is an Australian realism play by Lewis Nowra, the play was written in the 1970s a time of political
movement, therefore the play explores various themes. In this concept, I want to specifically showcase
the unjust double standards that men have regarding women. In order to highlight this unfair double
standard through use of directorial techniques of lighting and staging interconnected with the dramatic
elements of symbol, tension and language. Through the utilisation of these elements and techniques
the theme of the unjust double standards will be effectively conveyed. This is a critical issue for
audiences to understand as this issue is still prevalent in society today. By educating audience on this
issue, this production will challenge how Australian society conduct themselves in everyday life.
Thus, leaving audience members with a sense of empowerment as they reflect on how women were
treated in the past and how this still mirrors modern day society.
Directors intent:
Through this directorial concept I intend to expose the unjust double standards that men have
regarding women. Through clear emphasis on this theme I want to capture the raw human emotion of
women,

The Current Office Of President Of The United States
The Intended Presidency
The current office of president of the United States of America is not exactly what the Founding
Fathers intended. This paper addresses the intentions of what the founders of America wanted, as well
as the authority and duties given to the presidency, which are clearly defined in The Federalist Papers,
as well as the Constitution of the United States.
The Federalist Papers were written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay. While
writing under the pseudonym Publius, these three men attempted to convince and urge its readers,
especially those in New York, to ratify the Constitution of the United States. The founders realized
that the best way to promote liberty within America was to separate the political authority into three
independent powers. These three powers of authority maintain a system of checks and balance and
consist of the legislative, judicial and executive branches. The legislative branch makes the laws, the
judicial branch interprets and applies the laws, and the executive branch enforces and carries out the
laws.
When it came to the powers of the executive, the people of America were reluctant and fearful
because they had recently fought to rid themselves of monarchy. In Federalist No. 67, Hamilton
attempts to ease their minds and he defends the office of president. He compares the office to being
more like the governor of New York rather than the king of Great Britain. Hamilton also addresses the
misconception over

Medea as Woman, Hero and God in Euripides Play Essay
Medea as Woman, Hero and God
In Euripides play the title role and focus of the play is the foreign witch Medea. Treated differently
through the play by different people and at different times, she adapts and changes her character,
finally triumphing over her hated husband Jason. She can feasibly be seen as a mortal woman,
Aristotle s tragic hero figure and even as an exulted goddess.
Medea s identity as a weak woman is emphasised at the very start of the play. It is made very clear
that she has come to misfortune through no fault of her own and is powerless in her problem ( her
world has turned to enmity ). Being unable to change her situation is an example of her portrayal as a
weak woman figure. We are told that she has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, once again though, we see this sharpness behind her veil of weakness ( no bloodier spirit ).
With this said though, it is not a murderous, maniacal rage. She makes clear reference to the fact that
she is part of the group of wretched women and that she is simply striking back as a woman scorned .
When Creon comes on the stage, she continues with the pitiable appearance, begging ( I kneel to you,
I beseech you ). She tries to persuade Creon that he has no threat from her, using the fact that she is a
woman to make him disregard her power ( I m in no position a woman to wrong a king ). However,
after this scene is where the image of Medea as a feeble woman ends. The Chorus indicate their pity
and that Medea s plight touches our hearts . But at this point, Medea becomes the murderous and
dangerous woman that will kill her children and cackle with glee at the thought of Glauce s death. She
declares that she manipulated Creon, fawning on him to gain my purpose . She still holds our pity but
not in the same intensity (until eventually she finally loses pity almost completely in her double
infanticide).
As a mother, Medea on the surface is not the best, as she eventually kills her children, ignoring their
pleas for mercy ( Mother, don t kill us ). However, we must not ignore the heartache and pain that
Medea endures in killing them. It takes incredible conviction to carry it out ( parted from you, my life

Double Identity
In this film analysis, the important aspects of purpose, audience, form, and content of Double
Happiness (1994) by Mina Shum will be examined in the context of Chinese multiculturalism in
Canadian society. The purpose of this film is to define the double identity of Jade Li (Sandra Oh) in
the context of a traditional Chinese family and by also attempting to become a popular actress. This
type of multiculturalism defines the complex methods in which Jade attempts to appease the
traditional values of Chinese family values (fixed marriages, professionalism, etc.), but to also live a
secret life in the quest to become a famous Canadian actress. Jade s dialogue with her parents reveals
the disapproving demeanor of her parents when she wins a part as an actress: Jade: Mom, Dad...guess

Humor is often used in to expose the traditional values of the parents in relation to Jade s own
personal desire to become an actress. Jade s family represents the strict observance of Chinese familial
values, which seek to maintain a moral and ethical standing in the community. In contrast tot his
perspective, jade is a young woman that wants to become involved in a profession that her parents
view as being unworthy of her station. For instance, Jade is constantly being harassed by her parents
to get married to Chinese men that she hardly knows. However, jade is a very good natured young
woman that takes these archaic marital traditions with a sense of humor. Certainly, Jade is the main
character of the film, which also defines the comedic talents of Sandra Oh in this role. Overall, the
comedy genre is utilized to develop a conflicting sense of multicultural values that exist in Chinese
immigrant families living in Canadian society. The comedy genre provides a platform for the amusing
social interactions between jade and her parents, as well as with her Caucasian Canadian counterparts

Summary Of How I Met My Husband
Extended Journal Edie
One of the most diverse, self discovering times in many lives is transitioning from childhood to
adulthood. For some, this change comes with ease and excitement, while for others it can be a time
filled with bewilderment, dread, and questions. For Edie in How I Met My Husband by Alice Munro,
her transformation into a woman is not easy. Edie experiences a time in life filled with confusion and
unease as she evolves from a child into an adult. Edie, a fifteen year old girl, has blossomed into a
young woman physically; however, she struggles with her immature actions and thoughts. She has her
first job as a family maid and caregiver. She no longer attends school because she believes she is not
smart enough. Being thrown into a serious first job can be a struggle to adapt to, but Edie enjoys her
new job and finds that she succeeds. Her actions prove that she is mature enough to handle the
struggles and burden of taking care of a house and caring for others, it shows a motherly instinct
inside of her. However, Edie dropping out of school may question if she made a mature decision and
whether or not she chose to take the easy way out of a struggle she was facing. Edie is also beginning
to become a woman physically. She describes how she has begun to see her body form curves. She
discusses how she checks herself out in the mirror stating, I stood up on the side of the tub and

When a small amount of evil is seen yet disregarded, the ignorance breathes life. The evil grows and

family, are simultaneously destroying the families of those unknown individuals who become
numbered fatalities. Ignoring evil allows it to happen, but there comes a time when evil overpowers
any good that may try to stop it. Like a single person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Butcher, Mineka, and Hooley ). Wars breed new cases of PTSD regularly, from the bystanders who
cannot find the communal strength to dampen the up rise of impending evil, to the soldiers who take
lives to save their own. It can be assumed that Georg Trakl experienced great stress while serving as a
chemist in the Austrian army. His poem, Grodek was his last before he sadly took his own life, unable
to live with the painful memories of being in Poland with those suffering soldiers whom he was
unable to help. Trakl s poem is a cry out for help, a vivid description of the blood that so many shed.
His voice is noticeably depressed and mournful, wishing that things played out differently. When a
man who wanted so badly to help his comrades and stop the war is powerless and vulnerable, post
traumatic stress disorder can ensue, and prolong the suffering. To learn and grow from both the works
of Georg Trakl and Bertolt Brecht, society needs to acknowledge the pain that is caused by war,
regardless of position or innocence of character. War makes good people evil, and evil people stand
out. There are no winners, yet everyone is susceptible to the suffering that follows. Although Martin
Luther King suggests that our generation must repent the silence and indifference of the good people ,
we must also recognize that one

Maximum Wage And Wealth Distribution
Opening Statement
For our opening statement, we believe that the United States should not implement a maximum wage
to help facilitate wealth distribution. This issue has been debated by economists and philosophers in
the last few years. By implement a maximum wage, it causes more negative effects rather than
benefits to society. For instance:
It decreases productivity in the work force because people will lose the incentive to work and become
wealthy. As a result it hinders innovation, since those who choose to work over time will feel less
inclined to work as hard if they do not get paid for it.
In addition it limits the development of the skill needed for certain fields of work. Normally income is
highly correlated with skills. Maximum wage

Summary Of The Boogeyman
Many people have or have had a fear whether it s a fear if the dark, clowns, or heights. Most fears are
in your head and are psyching you out and some even are imaginary, but are used to scare you. One
thing that people, mostly children, are, or have been afraid of is the Boogeyman. The Boogeyman
although imaginary, is based on a real story. It is linked with one of the most horrible killers, Albert
Fish, from the 1800s. A much better description of the Boogeyman and why we have fears are
explained in The Boogeyman by Stephen King and in What s the Boogeyman?, a scientific American
article. Novelist, Stephen King in his gothic short story, The Boogeyman, suggests that even though it
may be scary, you need to overcome your fear. He supports his claim by telling the story of a man,
Lester Billing, who was accused of his three children s death, and was afraid of the Boogeyman. In the
story just before each of his children had died, they shouted, The Boogeyman, and everytime Lester
went to see his child, the closet would be slightly cracked open. Lester knew that something from the
closet was the cause of his children s deaths, but never did anything about it. Also, after the incidents,
he would keep closets and doors shut because he was scared of the Boogeyman returning. Finally,
after going to a therapist, Lester comes face to face with the Boogeyman, who was disguised as
Dr.Harper, the therapist. King s purpose is to inform the reader that if you don t overcome a fear,

Children were separated from their parents. Once their parents were safe she believed that they should
be reunited with them. Irena wrote down every kids name and where they were staying. Sendler wrote
down all relevant information in a special code on used cigarette papers she collected, ( Irena Sendler,
[World Biography] 2). Using code allowed her to know where they were but no one else could get that
information. But just writing in code wasn t safe enough. These lists of names were then put in jars
and buried in the yard of a friend s house at 9 Ledarska Street in Warsaw, ( Irena sendler, [World

to reunite them with there parents but unfortunately were died. Most of the Ghetto families had died at
the Treblinka death camp, ( Irena Sendler, [World Biography] 3). Despite her best efforts she wasn t

but it is already present within us. Mindfulness is the practice of accepting the deeper inner thoughts
that infiltrates our lives. Mindfulness for Beginners educates you on how to change your relationship
with the way you feel, think, work, love, and play. Strengthening your relationship will stimulate and
manifest who you really are.
The author, John Kabat Zinn, demonstrated the benefits of mindfulness in three different ways. The
author created the format of the book to be read and explored at random, a complete start to finish
read, or a lesson per day on mindfulness practice. Entering, Sustaining, Deepening, Ripening, and
Practicing are the sections in the book. Beginner level and advanced level meditators are able to find
valuable and applicable information in this book. The key attitudes and essential practices of

ISTJ Personality Profile
What have I learned to date? I self assessed and confirmed my personal profile as an ISTJ personality,
checked out social and emotional intelligence, collaborated alongside a partner with an opposite
personality for an assignment, and pondered the giving and receiving of feedback. Accordingly, my
confirmed ISTJ profile, interprets as inward thinking, quiet contemplation, reserved, thorough,
dependable, punctilious, practical, realistic, organized, values previous experience, and prefers
working alone, or in limited groups, somewhat cool, stand offish, and seldom social (Myers, 1998, p.
13; Hoover Plonk, n.d.; Goleman, 2006). What presents the biggest challenge for me? Social skills,
communication. In today s world of business, academia, and home life, social skills are a key function
in a daily routine; the ability to interact, to network, not only one on one, but within larger groups of
people. Whereas I have difficulty, an extroverted personality, who loves people and the social
interaction with groups, adapts easier and communicates effortlessly. While I function and interact

Blood Donation around the World
The average adult has approximately five liters of blood coursing through the vessel and delivering
essential element. Without blood, the human body would stop working. Blood is fluid of life and
health for each individual body. Every single drop of blood contains millions of red blood cells which
functions as transporting oxygen to all parts of the body. If there are scarce, it will disrupt blood
circulation of the body gradually. This phenomenon usually arises during severe blood injury. At this
moment, blood transfusion is the best way to overcome this kind of case. Thanks to an Arabic scholar,
Ibn Al Nafis who discovered in 1260 AD on minor circulation of blood in the body which then lead to
idea of blood transfusion. (1) Nevertheless, the blood supply is still on demand. According to statistics
in America Red Cross, more than 41,000 blood donations are needed every day for variety of
purposes. (2) Maintaining blood supply remains arduous till now. Hence, in order to attract people to
donate blood, some arguments are evolved whether payment or other reward should be done to
increase the blood sources.(3) Therefore, the outcome of this argument is a new type of blood
donation is produced which known as paid blood donation. This kind of donor contradicts to volunteer
blood donor. Paid blood donor defines as a person who receives incentives for their contribution of
blood. Jay Pennington voices out that nothing is free in the life. This statement initiates his article

Using GPS to Track a Particular Person Essay
Using GPS to Track a Particular Person
Introduction
Often times its hard to imagine how the world survived without cell phones. Its an automatic response,
when you see a car accident you take out your cell phone and dial for help, or when a child is waiting
for a ride they will call their parents to see how far away they are. It is a great convenience for society
to be able to do such things. Imagine if you didn t even have to call somebody to find out where they
were. It may seem like a futuristic idea, humanity being capable of such mind reading; however, the
advancement of GPS, global positioning systems, those ideas are coming to life in the present. GPS is

How GPS Works
GPS works off of twenty four satellites located 11,000 nautical miles above Earth s surface. These
satellites track receivers, which are on Earth. Receivers can be GPS in a car, a chip located in a cell
phone, military tracking devises, police radios, or even something as every day as a watch. The
distance between the satellite and receiver is measured using the exact distance from six different
satellites that locates a particular receiver on a particular path at the intersection of the two satellites.
The exact distance and time that it takes to measure the distance is tracked and formulated to produce
the exact longitudinal and latitudianl axis of the person being located. As complicated as the
mathematical procedures sounds, the radio signals are transmitted instantaneously and the close
approximate location of a subject is known at once.9
Background
The first GPS satellite was created and launched in 1978, it was referred to as Block I (fig.2) 8. The
rest of initial 10 Block I satellites were launched through 1988.. From 1989 to 1993, 23 production

Criticism In Mariette Lippo s Confirmation Names
In Confirmation Names, Mariette Lippo describes a group of girls choosing their patron saints.
Through the use of irony and syntax, the author scorns the Catholic Church s treatment towards
adolescent girls and the standards they are held under. However, when using a feminist criticism,
Lippo s disdain turns into anger towards society, not just the Catholic faith alone. When under an
archetypal criticism, the piece focuses more on the religious stereotypes of the harsh, reserved nun and
the classic rebellious Catholic schoolgirls, and thus provokes a sense of pity for the girls and an
automatic cringe worthy distaste for the nuns. Both the close reading and literary criticisms produce
new tones and shed different lights on the conflicting aspects of Confirmation Names. Initially,
Confirmation Names explains the process behind confirmation names for young Catholic girls.
However, through the use of language and literary devices, Lippo clearly presents a defiant tone
towards the way young girls are restricted in the Catholic faith. Lippo strategically addresses each
young girl in a new paragraph, reflecting Catholic nuns tones toward each young girl s vice. However,
though Lippo introduces the nuns sentiments in her piece, she also provides a sense of defiant
solidarity for the young girls by using the inclusive words we and us when interjecting herself into the
narration We studied the saints... (Lippo 1), and None of us, of course, chose Magdalen... (Lippo

Personal Statement For Marine Biology
Personal Statement
Education has always been an important foundation upon which my family encouraged the most. Not
just the education pertaining to structured schooling, but the fundamentals in life that require you to
interact in society and be a part of something bigger than yourself. They demonstrated how to commit
to values such as responsibility, motivation, and consistency; and, how to be open minded and
passionate about the things you believe in. These things all required a sacrifice in various ways. They
always stress how sometimes you need to give up something to get ahead, or how sometimes
sacrificing the familiar and what you expect from yourself to get the results that you are seeking in the
long run.
The dream of having majored in marine biology is one thing, but to get to have a marine biology
degree is a fifth grader s dream come true. The environment is heading in a rough direction. For
example, ocean acidification is already a problem. The decrease in pH of our ocean acidity is causing
coral reefs to die out which houses thousands of organisms homes and food sources. Due to the
contaminants, we release into the natural environment, we are slowly losing ecosystems every day.
Therefore, I want to be the researcher to help save the oceanic life from these horrible conditions.
Also, the career of marine biology can take a person anywhere, from the coasts of the Bahamas all the
way to the depths of the Arctic Ocean. This provides the advantage

Water In Annie John
Water stands as a symbol representing a source of cleansing, purity, and life. Water usually associates
itself with the image of restoration. This means that water can help restore the imperfections within a
person. In the novel Annie John written by Jamaica Kincaid, water shows how the relationship
between Annie and her mother grows and changes throughout the novel. The rainstorm, ocean
saltwater, and bath water show some examples of the changes Annie and her mother experience within
the novel. The rainstorm represents the change that went happened on the island of Antigua, and
inside of Annie. For example, Annie stated that for over a year, no rain fell (108) and this quote

Annie depends on her mother to show her how to live life. An example of Annie s dependency on her
mother shows when she states the only way I could reach the water was to climb and get on my
mother s back (42). Annie cannot swim, but shows that she has a strong feeling of trusts towards her
mom because she ultimately sets her own life into her hands. Annie swam with her mom because it
helped strengthen her kidneys, but it also brought Annie and her mother closer together. For example,
Annie says I could not wipe that feeling out of my mind, the feeling that I had when I couldn t find her
(45). Annie grows up, and the older she gets, the more the bond between her and her mom grow apart.
Annie will never forget that day in the ocean when she could not find her mother. That sense of
loneliness has become the way Annie now feels when around her mother. Annie figures out that she
can do things independently now and does not need her mother s help. Annie states that I could not
bear to have everyone else see how in disfavor I was towards my mother (46). The feeling Annie has
now with her mother refers back to the feeling she had back in the ocean. She feels as if her
relationship has grown deeper and darker, and that it will keep spreading apart with no end in sight,
just like the

Confidentiality And Conflict Of Interest
Introduction
Chapter 6 in the Introduction to Engineering Ethics book by Martin and Schinzinger covers the ethical
behavior of engineers in regard to working for a company. This includes confidentiality and conflict of
interest, teamwork, employee right and employer right. Each of these sections will be covered
separately, and their impact on Senior Design Project 3 will be considered.
Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest The first section of chapter 6 covers non disclosure of
company information and its relation to employees. Companies possess proprietary information and
trade secrets, and engineers have access to this information. To prevent the transfer of this information
to other firms, companies have employee agreements to not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This type of file from a company cannot legally be decompiled, so knowing what the actual code
executed by function calls is not possible. We were unable to effectively troubleshoot problems when
they arose since we could not see the code. However, the compiling of this code did protect the
company secrets effectively.
Teamwork and Rights Section two of chapter 6 covers teamwork in a corporate setting, as well as
employer and employee rights. To promote the morally responsible actions of employees, corporations
need to promote an ethical work climate. Four main tenants of an ethical workplace are presented. The
first is that both employees and managers acknowledge ethical values, and that responsibilities to
stockholders, customers, and other stakeholders are kept. The second tenant is the use of ethical
language in corporate dialog, such as introducing a code of ethics. Third, managers need to set a moral
tone in actions and words, and through examples and personal behavior. Finally, companies should
have a conflict resolution procedure. Loyalty is also covered in section 2 of the chapter. Loyalty to the
employer is discussed, which includes both agency loyalty and attitude loyalty. Above all, engineers
loyalty remains with the public according to the National Society of Professional Engineers. In their
code of ethics, they state engineers should hold paramount the safety, health and welfare of

John Bowlby And Attachment Theory
Human beings have many needs, but one of the most fundamental needs is for love and
companionship. Starting at birth, it is vital for bonds that enforce these needs are made. One way for
this type of connecting to be made is through attachment. Attachment theory is defined by oxford
dictionaries as a theory that emphasizes the bond formed by an infant toward its mother (or other
principal caregiver) and its pre eminent influence on behavior in adolescent and adult relationships.
(Oxford) This theory developed from a British psychologist by the name of John Bowlby between the
1950s and 1960s. From day one, babies are pretty much helpless. Due to this, they need a lot of
support, and forming a strong emotional bond with another individual will aid in their feelings of
stability, love and support; which will ultimately increase their chances of future success and survival.
A psychologist by the name of Mary Ainsworth conducted a study named Strange Situation where she
talks about three types of styles of attachment. These styles include secure attachment, ambivalent
insecure attachment, and avoidant insecure attachment. Mary Ainsworth is mainly known for her
extended research on the work of John Bowlby and Attachment Theory. Ainsworth created a
procedure called Strange Situation in order to observe and asses the condition of attachment in
relationships with caregivers and children. In this study, the child involved is observed for twenty
minutes as they play in a room

  • 3. Essay on Good Night and Good Luck In Good Night and Good Luck, director George Clooney follows the conflict between outspoken television journalist Edward R. Murrow and anti communist Senator Joseph McCarthy during the hard times of the Red Scare. Murrow uses his television show to expose McCarthy s fallacious arguments, while providing his own opinion on the matter. He begins by defending former Air Force pilot Milo Radulovich as not being the Communist agent McCarthy charges him to be. Due to his radical messages against McCarthy, advertisers begin pulling their advertisements. Thus Good Night and Good Luck was placed at an undesired time slot on Sunday afternoons, and allotted five last episodes. The conflict between Murrow and McCarthy is so deep that due to his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only variable evidence that McCarthy possesses for this claim is the knowledge that Murrow has been a member of the leftist union Industrial Workers of the World, which Murrow denies. (Clooney) This meager piece of evidence lacks enough substance to make a bold claim labeling a pioneering journalist such as Murrow into Communism territory. Though he may have been a member of this union, accusing Murrow of being a Communist solely due to his membership is very narrow minded. The fact of the matter is that McCarthy continuously fails to attest genuine testimony as to why he makes accusations again and again. Even though he may seem outspoken in his approach, Murrow proves a valid point as he reveals the error in McCarthy s thinking as he falsely accuses Radulovich of being a Communist. Due to lack of solid evidence, McCarthy has no stance while accusing Radulovich. Though his sister s political leanings suggest Communism, Radulovich can only speak for himself and not his sister. (Clooney) Labeling Radulovich a communist, solely based on his family s alliances is synonymous with claiming that Murrow is a Communist due to his membership in a leftist union. It seems like McCarthy is on a witch hunt of sorts, out to call out anyone who goes against the government or spoke ill of government practices. McCarthy orders the interrogation of Pentagon communication worker Annie Lee Moss, solely based on her name appearing on a blacklist. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Raymond Carver Narrator Anyone who has read Raymond Carvers Cathedral knows that the narrator is not looking forward or welcoming his guest into his home. Also, he is not being very sympathetic of what this man s condition that he lives with is, being blind. The Narrator must learn to be more sympathetic in his life, and should learn from this experience, with this older bling man. Raymond Carver uses his narrator non sympathetic ways effectively throughout the story, developing of the narrator from the beginning to the end, and how the narrator would not be as effective if he showed sympathy throughout the short story. The narrator fails to show sympathy throughout the story to show that the man not judge him for what he is, to show the Its really something moment, and to show the problems of the couple underneath what is happening. First, Carver uses his non sympathetic narrator effectively throughout the short story, by showing that the blind man can see more than him sometimes. The narrator says from the beginning that he does not like how this blind man is coming to visit him and his wife. He knows that that the blind man and his wife have had known each other longer than the two of them have known each other. Instead of welcoming his wife s old friend, he categorizes her friend with her past. Showing the narrator is jealous and pity, which then makes you wonder if Robert, the blind man, was involved in her suicide attempt or her divorce. This explains how Robert would have a better ... • 5. Meursault s Dichotomy In the novel The Stranger by Albert Camus, Meursault, the protagonist narrator, is an absurdist, detached and deathly honest man who refuses to lie about himself to save his life. He is an independent man, one who will not accept God, or any of society s formulas for happiness. In developing this character, Camus needed to sustain the distant tone used to develop the plot and Meursault s character. However, further development of this character required more than just the distant tone. Camus developed Meursault through the use and creation of minor characters with roles important to no aspect of the plot and who serve no purpose other than the development of Meursault s character. In his novel The Stranger, Camus uses the roles of minor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Camus creation of the boss portrays the archetype of a typical, run of the mill man in Meursault s world. Several encounters with his boss reveal a strict dichotomy and harsh disconnect between the mentality of Meursault and the concerns of the outside world. In the early stages of the novel, Meursault rants to the reader about the hand washing experience at his workplace. He explains that before leaving for lunch each day at midday, he takes care and makes certain to wash his hands; he enjoys performing this action and even looks forward to doing so everyday. In light of the importance of this ritual to Meursault, he explains that the experience in the evenings is regrettably not of similar quality. In stark contrast to the delightful experience of washing his hands at midday, he describes the experience in the evening as being less pleasant, as the roller towel, after being used by so many people, is usually sopping wet by the time Meursault gets to use it. Meursault is so bothered by this circumstance that he even brings it to his employer s notice. Although his boss agrees that this saga is regrettable, he explains to Meursault that to his mind, it is really but a minor detail (Camus 25). This encounter reveals that outsiders deem Meursault s motivations mere, minor, and unworthy. Camus inclusion of this tale also shows the reader that Meursault is not the paradigm male that existed in the setting; although Meursault supports his argument very well, others don t care enough to change it. For others, the fact that one towel has to last the whole day (25) is a mere detail unworthy of change; however, to Meursault, this is the one detail he takes issue and initiative with. With this story, Camus reveals a stark disconnect between Meursault and the outside world. Further, in another episode with his boss, Camus again develops this dichotomy and shows how ... Essay about Richard Hofstadter s The Age of Reform Richard Hofstadter s The Age of Reform In 1955, Richard Hofstadter wrote his Pulitzer Prize winning book The Age of Reform, about the Gilded Age. Hofstadter s arguments about the Populist and Progressive movements and their origins started debate and renewed scholarship on the Populist and Progressive movements. Many historians did not agree with Hofstadter s arguments and published their own papers stating their conclusions based on their own research. This scenario occurs all the time in the history field. One historian writes a book or paper and other historians accept or reject his arguments by doing their own research and making their own conclusions. He argues that for the early part of the history of the United States the culture of the nation centered on the farmer and the agrarian myth. The agrarian myth is that the independent family farmer was what drove the nation. Hofstadter states that framers enjoyed a certain privileged status in society. He argues that by the late 1870s this image or status was in decline and that farmers began to resent this loss of status. He asserts that the Populist movement was born out of this resentment. He explains that this resentment towards city dwellers those whose opinion of farming was declining was why many Populists described the city as crime infested and disliked immigrants. He viewed populists as being hysterical, raving, and very nativist. He says that the ideas expressed by the Populists made their way to the cities where professionals latched on to them. These professionals he argued felt the pinch from immigrants and crime. These professionals became the members of the Progressive movement. He viewed progressives as more practical, less hysterical, and more patronizing. To Hofstadter the Populist and Progressive movements were borne out of a status revolution in the United States. Hofstadter presents an interesting argument to explain Populism and Progressivism. At the root of his argument is that people are more likely to feel resentment when their status is at stake rather then when their income or jobs are. This is an interesting ... • 9. Ivan Niven s Proof Of Pi Being Irrational Ivan Niven s Proof of Pi Being Irrational The proof of pi being irrational can be done by contradiction. To do this, Niven first assumed that π =a / b, for relatively prime integers, a and b. He then created a polynomial function of power 2n that depends on the constant a and b. Next, define the polynomial for a constant integer n, which Ivan Niven used in his proof: This function f(x) has properties that are required in proving that pi is irrational. One property is that when f(x) =0; then f(x) = f(π x) : For the polynomial n!f(x) = xn(a bx)n, the term (a bx)n can be expanded into a new polynomial with integer coefficients ranging from power 0 to n using the binomial theorem. Niven used what he has stated before: f(x) = xn(a bx)n/n!, and showed how that (a bx) a when x is bounded between 0 and π. From this Niven stated that must be a smaller value than (a)n. How Did Popular Music Affect The Civil Rights Movement Music during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960 s Music, and particularly cultural, social, and political songs, has remained an essential facet of the longstanding tradition of uprisings and struggle for change in American culture. It is difficult to fathom the passions and purposefulness of pop culture music in the civil rights movement of the 1960s; thanks to the freedom songs, whose endeavor was to mobilize and reinforce collective participation in the civil rights campaigns, demonstrations, and protests (Stefani, 2015). The three songs from this period that exemplify popular music s role in calling for positive change regarding civil rights included We Shall Overcome by Southern African American tobacco workers, Ain t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round by Freedom Singers, and People Get Ready by Curtis Mayfield. We Shall Overcome , performed by one of the musical ensembles Southern African American tobacco workers was one of the popular freedom songs during the civil rights movement of 1960s. • 14. The Unjust Double Standards In Cosi By Lewis Nowra Realism is a significant style of theatre as it enables audience to empathise, thus this style can educate, empower and challenge audiences. Realism is an aesthetic mode which broke with the classical demands of art to show life as it should be in order to show life as it is (Christopher Keep, 2000). Cosi is an Australian realism play by Lewis Nowra, the play was written in the 1970s a time of political movement, therefore the play explores various themes. In this concept, I want to specifically showcase the unjust double standards that men have regarding women. In order to highlight this unfair double standard through use of directorial techniques of lighting and staging interconnected with the dramatic elements of symbol, tension and language. Through the utilisation of these elements and techniques the theme of the unjust double standards will be effectively conveyed. This is a critical issue for audiences to understand as this issue is still prevalent in society today. By educating audience on this issue, this production will challenge how Australian society conduct themselves in everyday life. Thus, leaving audience members with a sense of empowerment as they reflect on how women were treated in the past and how this still mirrors modern day society. This paper addresses the intentions of what the founders of America wanted, as well as the authority and duties given to the presidency, which are clearly defined in The Federalist Papers, as well as the Constitution of the United States. The Federalist Papers were written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay. While writing under the pseudonym Publius, these three men attempted to convince and urge its readers, especially those in New York, to ratify the Constitution of the United States. The founders realized that the best way to promote liberty within America was to separate the political authority into three independent powers. These three powers of authority maintain a system of checks and balance and consist of the legislative, judicial and executive branches. The legislative branch makes the laws, the judicial branch interprets and applies the laws, and the executive branch enforces and carries out the laws. When it came to the powers of the executive, the people of America were reluctant and fearful because they had recently fought to rid themselves of monarchy. In Federalist No. 67, Hamilton attempts to ease their minds and he defends the office of president. He compares the office to being more like the governor of New York rather than the king of Great Britain. Hamilton also addresses the misconception over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Treated differently through the play by different people and at different times, she adapts and changes her character, finally triumphing over her hated husband Jason. She can feasibly be seen as a mortal woman, Aristotle s tragic hero figure and even as an exulted goddess. Medea s identity as a weak woman is emphasised at the very start of the play. When Creon comes on the stage, she continues with the pitiable appearance, begging ( I kneel to you, I beseech you ). She tries to persuade Creon that he has no threat from her, using the fact that she is a woman to make him disregard her power ( I m in no position a woman to wrong a king ). However, after this scene is where the image of Medea as a feeble woman ends. The Chorus indicate their pity and that Medea s plight touches our hearts . But at this point, Medea becomes the murderous and dangerous woman that will kill her children and cackle with glee at the thought of Glauce s death. She declares that she manipulated Creon, fawning on him to gain my purpose . She still holds our pity but not in the same intensity (until eventually she finally loses pity almost completely in her double infanticide). Wars breed new cases of PTSD regularly, from the bystanders who cannot find the communal strength to dampen the up rise of impending evil, to the soldiers who take lives to save their own. It can be assumed that Georg Trakl experienced great stress while serving as a chemist in the Austrian army. His poem, Grodek was his last before he sadly took his own life, unable to live with the painful memories of being in Poland with those suffering soldiers whom he was unable to help. Trakl s poem is a cry out for help, a vivid description of the blood that so many shed. His voice is noticeably depressed and mournful, wishing that things played out differently. When a man who wanted so badly to help his comrades and stop the war is powerless and vulnerable, post traumatic stress disorder can ensue, and prolong the suffering. To learn and grow from both the works of Georg Trakl and Bertolt Brecht, society needs to acknowledge the pain that is caused by war, regardless of position or innocence of character. War makes good people evil, and evil people stand out. There are no winners, yet everyone is susceptible to the suffering that follows. Although Martin Luther King suggests that our generation must repent the silence and indifference of the good people , we must also recognize that one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Maximum Wage And Wealth Distribution Opening Statement For our opening statement, we believe that the United States should not implement a maximum wage to help facilitate wealth distribution. This issue has been debated by economists and philosophers in the last few years. By implement a maximum wage, it causes more negative effects rather than benefits to society. For instance: It decreases productivity in the work force because people will lose the incentive to work and become wealthy. As a result it hinders innovation, since those who choose to work over time will feel less inclined to work as hard if they do not get paid for it. In addition it limits the development of the skill needed for certain fields of work. Normally income is highly correlated with skills. Maximum wage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Summary Of The Boogeyman Many people have or have had a fear whether it s a fear if the dark, clowns, or heights. Most fears are in your head and are psyching you out and some even are imaginary, but are used to scare you. One thing that people, mostly children, are, or have been afraid of is the Boogeyman. The Boogeyman although imaginary, is based on a real story. It is linked with one of the most horrible killers, Albert Fish, from the 1800s. A much better description of the Boogeyman and why we have fears are explained in The Boogeyman by Stephen King and in What s the Boogeyman?, a scientific American article. Novelist, Stephen King in his gothic short story, The Boogeyman, suggests that even though it may be scary, you need to overcome your fear. He supports his claim by telling the story of a man, Lester Billing, who was accused of his three children s death, and was afraid of the Boogeyman. In the story just before each of his children had died, they shouted, The Boogeyman, and everytime Lester went to see his child, the closet would be slightly cracked open. Lester knew that something from the closet was the cause of his children s deaths, but never did anything about it. Also, after the incidents, he would keep closets and doors shut because he was scared of the Boogeyman returning. Finally, after going to a therapist, Lester comes face to face with the Boogeyman, who was disguised as Dr.Harper, the therapist. King s purpose is to inform the reader that if you don t overcome a fear, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Blood Donation around the World The average adult has approximately five liters of blood coursing through the vessel and delivering essential element. Without blood, the human body would stop working. Blood is fluid of life and health for each individual body. Every single drop of blood contains millions of red blood cells which functions as transporting oxygen to all parts of the body. If there are scarce, it will disrupt blood circulation of the body gradually. This phenomenon usually arises during severe blood injury. How GPS Works GPS works off of twenty four satellites located 11,000 nautical miles above Earth s surface. These satellites track receivers, which are on Earth. Receivers can be GPS in a car, a chip located in a cell phone, military tracking devises, police radios, or even something as every day as a watch. The distance between the satellite and receiver is measured using the exact distance from six different satellites that locates a particular receiver on a particular path at the intersection of the two satellites. The exact distance and time that it takes to measure the distance is tracked and formulated to produce the exact longitudinal and latitudianl axis of the person being located. As complicated as the mathematical procedures sounds, the radio signals are transmitted instantaneously and the close approximate location of a subject is known at once.9 Background The first GPS satellite was created and launched in 1978, it was referred to as Block I (fig.2) 8. • 29. Criticism In Mariette Lippo s Confirmation Names In Confirmation Names, Mariette Lippo describes a group of girls choosing their patron saints. Through the use of irony and syntax, the author scorns the Catholic Church s treatment towards adolescent girls and the standards they are held under. However, when using a feminist criticism, Lippo s disdain turns into anger towards society, not just the Catholic faith alone. When under an archetypal criticism, the piece focuses more on the religious stereotypes of the harsh, reserved nun and the classic rebellious Catholic schoolgirls, and thus provokes a sense of pity for the girls and an automatic cringe worthy distaste for the nuns. Both the close reading and literary criticisms produce new tones and shed different lights on the conflicting aspects of Confirmation Names. Initially, Confirmation Names explains the process behind confirmation names for young Catholic girls. However, through the use of language and literary devices, Lippo clearly presents a defiant tone towards the way young girls are restricted in the Catholic faith. Lippo strategically addresses each young girl in a new paragraph, reflecting Catholic nuns tones toward each young girl s vice. However, though Lippo introduces the nuns sentiments in her piece, she also provides a sense of defiant solidarity for the young girls by using the inclusive words we and us when interjecting herself into the narration We studied the saints... Not just the education pertaining to structured schooling, but the fundamentals in life that require you to interact in society and be a part of something bigger than yourself. They demonstrated how to commit to values such as responsibility, motivation, and consistency; and, how to be open minded and passionate about the things you believe in. These things all required a sacrifice in various ways. They always stress how sometimes you need to give up something to get ahead, or how sometimes sacrificing the familiar and what you expect from yourself to get the results that you are seeking in the long run. The dream of having majored in marine biology is one thing, but to get to have a marine biology degree is a fifth grader s dream come true. The environment is heading in a rough direction. For example, ocean acidification is already a problem. The decrease in pH of our ocean acidity is causing coral reefs to die out which houses thousands of organisms homes and food sources. Due to the contaminants, we release into the natural environment, we are slowly losing ecosystems every day. • 33. John Bowlby And Attachment Theory Human beings have many needs, but one of the most fundamental needs is for love and companionship. Starting at birth, it is vital for bonds that enforce these needs are made. One way for this type of connecting to be made is through attachment. Attachment theory is defined by oxford dictionaries as a theory that emphasizes the bond formed by an infant toward its mother (or other principal caregiver) and its pre eminent influence on behavior in adolescent and adult relationships. (Oxford) This theory developed from a British psychologist by the name of John Bowlby between the 1950s and 1960s. From day one, babies are pretty much helpless. Due to this, they need a lot of support, and forming a strong emotional bond with another individual will aid in their feelings of stability, love and support; which will ultimately increase their chances of future success and survival. A psychologist by the name of Mary Ainsworth conducted a study named Strange Situation where she talks about three types of styles of attachment. These styles include secure attachment, ambivalent insecure attachment, and avoidant insecure attachment. Mary Ainsworth is mainly known for her extended research on the work of John Bowlby and Attachment Theory. Ainsworth created a procedure called Strange Situation in order to observe and asses the condition of attachment in relationships with caregivers and children. In this study, the child involved is observed for twenty minutes as they play in a room ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
