2. Dyslexia Is A Learning Disability
Dyslexia is a learning disability in which people have difficulty reading, writing,
and even in subjects such a math and music. In my case, I found that subjects such
as reading and writing were harder for me compared to other kids my age. I was half
way through my fourth grade year when I was diagnosed with dyslexia. While at first
this was something I hated about myself. Now being dyslexic is something that
makes me who I am today, and this is something I should never be ashamed of.
By the time I was in 1st grade all of my friends were learning to read and write, while
I tried my hardest to just get by. Yet after every single spellingtest I would receive a
failing grade or a barely passing grade, and for me this was abnormal as I was a
straight A student in everything else. While my grades continued to fall, my mom
started to believe that I was just not trying hard enough. For the next three years,
my mother started tutoring me every day after school. Each and every day after
school my mother would make me write my spelling words ten times each, and
when that did not make any change, I began to study ever single moment of the
day. Sometimes I even studied in the shower, but sadly I was still falling behind in
certain subjects. This persisted on for three more years, when I was in 3rd grade
when my mom finally gave up with the school I was at and sent me to one that she
believed had a better education system.
At my new school the teachers where very similar as they

Dale Chihuly is an American glass blower (Dale Patrick Chihuly, 2015). The piece
of art I ll mainly be looking at is Citron and Cobalt Tower. This piece was located
directly in the center of the museum as soon as you walked in to the show room. It
caught my eye and I knew immediately what I wanted to do my paper on. Citron
and Cobalt Tower was first introduced in 2004 (Art and Biology in the Citron and
Cobalt Tower by Dale Chihuly, n.d). It s twenty feet tall and around it is around 6
feet (Art and Biology in the Citron and Cobalt Tower by Dale Chihuly, n.d) It was a

choose it to be the opening piece. What really hits me is what inspired him to start

4. Unethical Behavior At Goldman Sachs
Unethical Behaviour
Unethical comes from the word ethical which means conforming to accepted
standards of social or professional behaviour. Unethical behavior is an action that
falls outside of what is considered morally right or proper for a person, a profession
or an industry. It is a wrong contrary to conscience or morality or law. For example
mistreating employee, misrepresentation, financial misconduct, dumping, child
labour etc.
Goldman Sachs
The case revolves around An ex Goldman Sachs employee, Rohit Bansal, hired in
2014 from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York who obtained confidential
information from a friend, Jason Gross, at the Fed. The information concerned a
mid sized New York bank that was a Goldman Sachs client and which Bansal
supervised at his former job and the information was then circulated at Goldman
Sachs. That leak, which violated a cardinal rule of the regulatory world, provided
Goldman a window into the Fed s private insights about the New York bank and
other regulatory matters and a heads up to Goldman Sachs for advising the client.

5. Paco s Life
Everyone wants adventure in life, so much so that people can become careless and,
in some cases, be forced to suffer the consequences from it. This is evident in the
short story, The Capital of the World by Ernest Hemingway. Paco is a young boy
who works at a hotel which is home to six bullfighters. To Paco, these are the only
people who exist in the hotel due to his infatuation and romance with the art of
bullfighting. However, his passion for such a dangerous sport will end up catching up
to him in the end when his co worker, Enrique, shows him that the there is more to
bullfighting than what meets the eye. Hemingway s reveals his own life though the
setting, characterization of the protagonists, as well as theme.
For example, The Capital of the World takes place in a hotel called the Luarca, in
Madrid, Spain. Paco, the main character, loves the place he lives and describes it as,

The central theme of this story would be curiosity got the cat. All of Paco s life he
had been fascinated by the idea of bullfighting, but he never truly thought about the
dangers the sport had to offer. The dishwasher suggested that he and Paco pretend
to fight a bull by attaching sharp knives to represent the horns of a bull to a chair
and have him chase after Paco. The first run went fine, but it was on the second run
that they author says, ...he stepped his left foot two inches too far forward and the
knife did not pass, but had slipped in as easily as into as into a wineskin and there
was a scalding rush above and around the sudden inner rigidity of steel... (para ).
The knife had entered his lower abdomen. All I wanted was to show the danger,
Enrique said in paragraph ... While he was gone, Paco had died. Due to his
curiosity and love for a sport that was far too dangerous for him, he lost his life
trying to live in the moment that the people he looked up to
6. Women Of Ancient Greek Mythology Essay
Gender inequality has been a controversial topic for numerous religions and cultures
throughout history. Women were commonly regarded as the subservient gender, an
idea that was no different in Ancient Greece. Throughout Greek mythology, women
were considered inferior and troublesome symbols, while men were known for
courage, leadership, and strength. While there is no argument of the flagrant sexism
that is illustrated in Greek mythology, it can also be claimed that women were given
a situated position of freedom, necessity, and power as well. Many popular Greek
plays and myths contain several complexes and well described female characters.
These goddesses themselves, partook the role of victim, heroine, and villain as it
illustrated the diversity of characters in which women were portrayed and seen in
both Ancient Greek society and mythology, allowing us to question Were the women
of Ancient Greek mythology equally represented as free and superior? The creation
of the Greek mythological universe, the creation of multi gendered goddesses or
deities, and the free and superior personalities accredited to women in Ancient Greek
mythology to answer the question that women were fairly represented as powerful in
Ancient Greek mythology.
Because the Greek culture and places a large emphasis on heritage and history,
including women with essential positions in creation myths, allowed them to prove
their free and powerful status in Greek mythology. One essential character

Chapter Three A Monster in My Side We tore through the night down dark country
roads, wind slamming into the pickup. Rain lashed the windshield. I didn t know
how Mom could see anything, but she kept her foot on the pedal. Each time there
was a flash of lightning, I glanced at Simon sitting in the backseat, and I wondered
if I d gone mad or if he was wearing a robe, cone shaped hat, and elf shoes. All I
could think to say was, So, um, you and my dad know each other? Simon s gaze
flitted to the rearview mirror, though there were no cars behind us. Yeah, sure, he
said. We work together. Oh, so what exactly do you do? That doesn t matter right
now. Then why The less you know, the fewer monsters you ll attract, Simon said,
like that should be perfectly obvious. At least that s what it says in the book.
Monsters wait a minute, what do you mean? The howling rose up again from
somewhere behind the truck, closer than before. Whatever was chasing us was
still on our trail. Aiden, my mom said, there s too much to explain and not enough
time. We have to get you to safety. Safety from what? Who s after me? Oh, nobody
much, Simon said. Just Renwick and a few of his minions. Simon! Sorry, Ms.

was going on, but I couldn t do it. I knew this wasn t a nightmare. My eyes were

8. Traditional and Alternative Teaching
Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND It is well known that children learn in
various ways and have their own individual styles and strategies. Some may enjoy
group works, others individual works. Some may prefer teacher instructions with
worksheets and firm direction, rather than self generated research projects. There are
numerous ways children learn, but how does the surrounding environment, affects a
child s learning ability and influence the learning strategies that employ? Our society
these days are divided into two different ways of thinking on the education. Some
may believe that alternative methods are better than the traditional methods of
teaching but yet these two methods are both a successful ways. ... Show more content

With the view of functionalist, Skinner (1953) developed his theory of learning on
the concept of operantconditioning . He offer the organism operates in the
environment doing whatever it does. According to Skinner , while operating, the
organisms encounters stimuli to which he referred as reinforcing stimuli.
Cognitive Leaning Theory A founding father of Cognitive Learning Theory, GagnE
(1985) contended that it is more realistic to assume that there are different kinds of
learning, arranged in a hierarchy, with one sortbeing the prerequisite for the next. For
example, solving an algebraic problem depends on understanding algebraic function,
which depends on knowing basic mathematical skills and computations, which
depends on recognizing simple numbers and symbols. For GagnE, simple
conditioning only provided the basis for more advance kind of learning. He built on
the behaviorist model by adding processing or cognitive component to Skinners
model.

childhoods including run ins with the police and hanging with their crew. One

his life. Without this role model the author Wes s life could have been very
different, but his mother is who helped him do great things with his life. Besides
the fact that both Wes s had a role model in their life, they have very different lives.
Additionally both men have jobs, their jobs have huge impacts on their futures.
Notably one job was a positive influence in one Wes s life, and the other ruined the
Wes s life. After the author Wes gets to military school, he is struggling with the
fact that he was sent to military school. At first he hates it, but throughout the next
few years of his life he learns to love it. After completing high school at Valley
Forge, Wes makes the decision that would make an impact on his life for the
better. After his Colonel left Valley Forge, Wes says, My next decision was clear. I

11. Desiree s Baby, By Kate Chopin
In Kate Chopin s short story, Desiree s Baby, she tells the story through the eyes of
the characters. This story is told in the omniscient point of view. The omniscient point
of view means that the storyteller knows all of the thoughts and emotions of all the
characters throughout the story. In the nineteenth century there was a lot of racial
discrimination against African Americans. The protagonist is Desiree; she is formed
throughout the many situations in the short story. She is fought by the antagonist,
Armand Aubigny. He is described, as a cruel, arrogant man who, likely, would never
admit he was wrong. At the end of this story Armand s assumptions and inferences
catch up to him. An inferenceis nothing more than a guess, an assumption. Inferring
does not always get us in trouble and it would almost be impossible to not assume
throughout an entire day. Unfortunately, making some inferences can have serious
consequences. There are is a lot of foreshadowing throughout the short story that tells
us that Armand has black ancestry. There is a key part of foreshadowing, there is
another form of foreshadowing when Madame Valmonde says, the child has grown,
has changed. This is another monstrous form of foreshadowing, that there is
something different about this child and that we will find out what is different later
in the story.
It had never hit Desiree that her baby was black until one day, The baby, half naked,

12. My Personal Theory Of Counseling
My Personal Theory of Counseling I believe counseling is a collaborative partnership
between client and counselor. Furthermore, this collaborative partnership is built
from trust and acceptance of both client and counselor. I hope in conjunction with
clients to understand the issues and concerns so to help them tap into their wisdom,
creativity, and strengths to meet their current challenges. I believe in a
comprehensive perspective through which clients can better comprehend themselves
in the framework that our thinking about events can lead to emotional and
behavioral upset. Moreover, counselors are to provide a safe environment for
clients to explore their challenges and identify ways to move differently in
overcoming these challenges. Through my work in counseling, I will aspire to be
respectful of and sensitive to my client s developmental needs and therapeutic goals.
It is imperative for counselors to recognize that the counseling process can be

that clients are inclined to embrace irrational beliefs and behaviors that prevent them

clients contrast rational desires with wishes, preferences, and wants. Additionally, the
existence of extreme philosophies make the difference between healthy negative
emotions and unhealthy negative emotions (Weinrach, 1995). REBT theory asserts
that clients have the ability to change their beliefs and philosophies profoundly and
thus can change unreservedly their state of psychological health (Corey,
13. What Are The Similarities Between The World On The...
The World on the Turtles Back is a creation myth from the Iroquois cultural
perspective, having various similarities and differences from the Catholic creation
story. The World on the Turtles Back and Genesis have comparisons between good
and evil, the women being the one disobeying the rules, a sacred tree. Both start with
a heaven, animal roles, and the creator of earth.
In the beginning of The Worldon the Turtles Back explains that there was no life on
earth only a vast ocean. If we read Genesis from the Bible there was also no life
until God created the heavens and earth. The Iroquois people believe in a heaven
they called the Sky World . Genesis mentions the creation of heaven which is where

In The World on the Turtles Back the creator of earth is the woman. When she falls
from the Sky World she uses soil to form earth. The woman took the tiny clod of
dirt and placed it on the middle of the great sea turtles back. Then the woman
began to walk in a circle around it, moving in the direction the sun goes. The earth
began to grow. ( The World on the Turtles Back lines 63 65.) A sacred tree is
another reference found in both tales. In Genesis said tree is forbidden for Adam
and Eve to approach. The Great Tree for Iroquois was not supposed to be marked
or mutilated, it also was a holy symbol. Another aspect of the comparisons of the
trees is that Eve committed a sin when eating the forbidden fruit. In The World on
the Turtle Back the woman grabbed a piece of bark from the tree and thus breaking
the rules.
There is a contradiction in the roles of the animal in both narrations: the serpent
entices and persuades Eve on wrongdoing, as she eats the fruit. The Iroquois woman
is rescued by birds as she falls from the Sky World , and is aided by sea creatures to

Although some countries have national identity cards, there has been an extensive
debate about their use here in the United States. According to Eliot (2009), the first
driver s license went into effect in New York in 1910 (p. 11). Other states followed
suit. The Social Security Act passed in the 1930 s required all citizens to have a
unique nine digit number in order to receive social security benefits.
(SocialSecurity.gov, para 1) Today, it is common knowledge that all employers are
required to request and verify a social security number at the start of employment.

Table 7: Expected Travel Expenses ImageFirst Signs will anticipate a savings of
$99,300 per year. This calculation is based on labor costs, space utilization, reduction
in rework, and inventory costs. These calculations can be seen in Table 8 below.
Labor cost is calculated in two fold. First by multiplying the number of operators
(17), number of weeks per year (50), average hourly cost per employee ($16), and
the average number of hours anticipated to be saved with the implementation of the
deliverables (2 per operator). Second by multiplying the number of shipping and
receiving operator (1), number of weeks per year (50), average hourly cost per
employee ($16), average number of hours anticipated to be saved with the
implementation of the deliverables (5). Space utilization was calculated by
considering the average monetary impact of bringing in two new machines. Per
Dave, the facility needs to be preparing for two machines. One will be arriving in
April and the other one is anticipated to arrive late summer. Reduction in rework
was calculated by multiplying an average cost to fix a sign ($250) by the number
of months in a year (12) by the average number of defects needed to be fixed per
month (5). Lastly, inventory costs were calculated by considering the average
number of extra material on hand (20) by the average cost per foot of the material.
As seen below in Figure 19, ImageFirst can anticipate an 85% ROI for this

Intro
1.Current state/national regulations (licensing/certification issues). Acupuncture, in
comparison with other complementary and alternative medicine modalities, is
presently well regulated in the United States. After a surge in popularity in the 1970
s, its expansion has led to an increase in acceptance into mainstream medicine, such
as hospitals, cancer centers, even gaining some insurance coverage (Brett, Brimhall,
Healey, Pfeifer, Prenguber, 2013). According to the National Certification
Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM, 2017), the major
licensing and regulatory body for acupuncturists, 44 states and the District of
Columbia currently require certification to non physician practitioners. Oklahoma ...

The NCCAOM provides a clear code of ethics, disciplinary policies and procedures,
and even outlines filing a complaint against negligent acupuncturists (NCCAOM,
2017). This type of oversight certainly substantiates the legitimacy of acupuncture in
Western medicine, as well as increasing the proficiency of each practitioner.
Unfortunately, malpractice will always be an issue in medicine, regardless of the
quality of education and regulation. There are two common forms of malpractice in
acupuncture today, the first being practicing without necessary experience and/or a
license (in a state that requires it). The second form of malpractice is not adhering to
Clean Needle Technique. According to Xu et al. (2013) a study completed ten years
prior indicated that the most frequent adverse event associated with acupuncture was
hepatitis infection, caused by the reuse of needles. However, their most recent
comparative study suggests that presently the adverse event experienced today is
bacterial infection. The education and adherence to Clean Needle Technique (which
includes never reusing needles), has led to a drastic increase of health and safety in
acupuncture. An unlicensed and/or unexperienced practitioner may not be aware of
the danger posed by reusing needles, and thus put their patients at undue risk for
infection and even

The Boogey Man
It was 5:00 in the morning when Andre s boat was ready to go to from New York
to California so Andre could go visit a friend who is very sick. Andre heard the ship

onto the boat... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh .... And he made it onto the boat, Just barely. The
boat was called The Thrasher.
There were only 5 passengers on the boat. Andre was walking across the aisle... The
lights on the Thrasher are flickering... Andre goes up to the helm of the boat to ask
the captain what s going on. On Andre s way to the boat, the boat starts jerking, left
and right. Andre balances himself on the railing.... Slowly and steadily he moves
forward to the helm.
Captain, are you there? ... No response... Captain? .. Still no response, I go to his
chair to see if he s there. AHHHHHHHHHH! Andre screams at what he sees. He
then runs dashing through the aisles looking for the rest of the 5 passengers that he
saw aboard The Thrasher.
As Andre is running through every place in the boat looking for the people who got

19. Cultural Differences Of Muslim And Muslim Women
Firstly, the Jews and Muslims are divided by their different cultures. The three
main cultural differences are their clothing, beliefs, and foods. Common clothing
that Jewish men wear is the Kippah and Tallit. The Kippah is a skullcap, also
referred as a yarmulke, which is worn during prayer or throughout the day, and can
be worn under a street hat. The Tallit is a large rectangular fabric made of wool,
cotton or synthetic. In each of the four corners are strings tied in a specific pattern
called tzitzit. On the other hand, Muslim women wear the hijab, abaya, or burqa.
The hijab is a folded piece of square or rectangular fabric that is a typical form of
modest women s dress that folds over the woman s head. The abaya and burqa both
cover a woman s entire body; however the burqa covers the face, including her eyes.

Clothing has divided both nations since both religions have their own beliefs behind
the clothing they wear and they clearly don t share any. The Jews and Muslims have
different beliefs when it comes to religion. Although both faiths believe in the
afterlife, Judaism tends to emphasize life on earth. In fact, the Torah emphasizes the
importance of following these commands rather than concentrating on the rewards
they will reap in the afterlife. The afterlife in Islam, on the other hand, plays a
significant role in shaping religious practices and beliefs. The main purpose of faith
and following God s commands is to prove oneself worthy, so a follower may spend
the afterlife with

21. Essay on Origins of Popular Sayings
English is an amazing language that reflects many different cultures. Americans have
many popular sayings and figures of speech that, if taken literally, make no logical
sense. If you mention the phrases white elephant, spill the beans, or to pull someone s
leg, they make no sense unless you are familiar with the culture.
The word idiom is used to describe these forms of speech. Idioms are considered to
be part of a nation s culture, and idioms can make learning a foreign language quite
challenging. Scholars have estimated American English to contain at least 25,000
idiomatic expressions. People learning a new language must memorize the meanings
of these phrases like vocabulary, because the interpretations of idioms can be ... Show

The origin of this popular saying will make you smile.
In the early 1700 s an English dramatist named John Dennis created an invention that
would simulate the sound of thunder in one of his theatrical productions. His play
failed dismally. However, later he found that his invention was used to create the
sound of thunder in another performance. Dennis was quoted as saying, They will
not let my play run, but they steal my thunder! The phrase was overheard, passed
along and became a popular saying used in the English language.
To Spill the Beans
When someone spills the beans, they reveal a secret unintentionally. This popular
saying has its origin back in the days of ancient Greece.
When people were voted into many organizations, the membership voted secretly
using colored beans as counters. If one voted for the inclusion of the applicant, one
would discretely drop a white bean into an opaque container. If one voted against the
applicant, one would secretly drop a black or brown bean in the container. Only the
officials knew the results of the voting.
Occasionally, an awkward person might accidentally knock over the container,
spilling the beans and revealing the results of the vote before the appointed time.
This is how the phrase spilling the beans has come to describe someone telling a
secret.

22. Essay on Code of Hammurabi and the Book of Exodus
The secular laws of Babylon were laid down by Hammurabi in The Code of
Hammurabi , and in the book of Exodus. These laws provided stability and order in
those respective societies. As society depended upon them, it is natural to assume
that the laws relied upon society as well and reflect the values held by each
society, not only in the laws themselves, but also in how they are written, whom
they pertain to and how they are executed. While at first glance the law codes
appear similar, there are a number of differences that provide key insight to what
was held dear in each society. How do differences in these two law codes attest to

(Avalos 621). This furthers the impression that Israelite society was one more deeply
rooted in tradition and religious customs. This is not to say that the temples were not
used in Babylon, in fact court proceedings usually took place within the temple. The
reason for this was that in the event of it being impossible to decide the outcome of
a trial, the accused was usually required to make an oath to the gods proclaiming his
or her innocence. (Greengus 473) Babylonian trials were usually recorded in writing
and stored to prevent future lawsuits and confusion.
The greatest differences in the values of each society can be seen in the laws
themselves, what they cover and how they do so. Many of the laws in Exodus relate
to agriculture such as Exodus 22:5, which deal with allowing livestock to graze on
another man s property. Agricultural vocabulary is also used throughout the book,
indicative of a more agrarian economy. However, the Code of Hammurabihas a vast
number of laws relating to material goods reflecting a much more financially centered
culture than we see in ancient Israel. Numbers 15 and 16 in the Code of Hammurabi
concern runaway slaves and the consequences of harboring them.

Abstract: Agriculture uses 85% of available freshwater resources worldwide and this
percentage will continue to be dominant in water consumption because of population
growth and increased food demand. In India agriculture, primarily depends on the
monsoon, which is not a sufficient source of water. So irrigation is employed in the
agriculture area. This paper targets to offer a cloud based drip irrigation system to
aid the farmers. The proposed system uses a microcontroller, sensors, and a cloud
server to provide real time network with field over a Wi Fi network. The proposed
system aims to conserve water up to a large extent by providing automatic and
manual modes of irrigation. The system can be monitored by the user on an android
application.

1. Introduction
Drip irrigation is an artificial technique of providing water to the roots of the plant. It
is also called micro irrigation. An automated irrigation system is proposed in order to
facilitate efficient irrigation where water and labour scarcity conditions prevail. For
high reliability, robustness and limited resources, resistive sensors are chosen.

25. Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies
Humans live and develop in societies with rules, order and government, but humans
are not perfect, they have many deficiencies so do the societies they live in. When
a group of schoolboys land on a tropical island, Ralph takes on the role of leader by
bringing all of the boys together and organizing them. He first explains There aren t
any grownups. We shall have to look after ourselves. (p.33), this brings up the
question if the boys will have prosperity or will they succumb to the evil on the
island. At first the young boys start being successful and civilized but chaos soon
overruns them and evil starts to lurk over the island. William Goldings effective use
of symbolism helps emphasize and tie together the relationship between the evil in
society and in humannature. The fictional story of the group of British schoolboys
stranded on an island and the decisions they make, relates back to our society and
the decisions we might make in a difficult situation. Lord of The Flies is Golding s
attempt to trace the defects of society back to the defects of human nature. The use of
symbols in the novel to represent the flaws of human nature, helps create this theme.
The conch is one of the main objects the boys use and has a very strong evolution
throughout the novel. Likewise, painted faces are used as a method to show the
change in human nature throughout a long period of time. Another object that is
persistent throughout the novel are Piggy s glasses, they are principally

The Second World War was composed of two main powers. One was the Axis

escalated the war and the war became more intensified on a world scale. Because of
the Second World War, a lot of countries and people were sacrificed. In addition, all
the things concerning politics, economy, society, culture , etc changed due to this
war. Historians always argue about historical events, especially argue about the

The Overpopulation of the Snow Goose in North America
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to explore available research on the overpopulation of the
Snow Goose on the North American continent. The snow goose has been rising in
population since the middle of the century and has been escalating so much it is
destroying their natural habitat. Wildlife managers have just recently begun to
implement strategies to combat this problem. Mainly through the use of hunters the
managers are trying to curb the population growth.

1995 (Abraham and Jeffries). The Texas Department of Fish and Wildlife states that
the population of wintering snow geese has remained constant. They imply this is
due to the fact that the geese have spread their winter range into other states (TWDS

the conversion of grassland prairie into cereal grains has provided a tremendous
amount of food for the geese. In addition it has also blurred the area typically

The great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest monument on the list of the 7 wonders of the
ancient world. It is also the last one standing.
The great pyramid was built between 2584 and 2561 BCE for the fourth dynasty
Khufu (in Greek; Cheops). It took approximately 20 years and 20,000 workers to
complete the construction. But they never used slaves. Lots of farmers ... Show more

Linear PMLC Model: This is one of the Traditional Project Management (TPM)

APM model. Between the scoping process group and the closing process group,

model. It is useful for project oriented to new product development or improvement
whose solution and requirements are partially known and several scope change

based on learning and discovery while on the job. Continual documentation and

A Take on The Red Violin The Red Violin, a movie written by Don McKellar and
François Girard, and directed by François Girard, was released on September 10,
1998. It follows a special, and, in a sense, cursed, fictional violin through its long and
tragic life, culminating a modern era auction where it is being sold. Everything
begins with the violinmakers, NicolГІ Bussotti, and his pregnant wife, Anna
Rudolfi. While Bussotti worked in his shop, Rudolfi met with one of their servants,
Cesca, and asked her to tell her unborn child s future. Cesca tells her that she
cannot, siting that the humors are all balanced until someone is born, and offers to
tell Rudolfi hers instead. There is some hesitation on Rudolfi s part before she
reluctantly agrees and Cesca lays out her tarot cards. Rudolfi selects five and Cesca
began telling her fortune, which is how the real story begins.
Her first card, The Moon, Cesca says means Rudolfi would have a long, rich, full
life. Despite that, Rudolfi expresses her nervousness toward the delivery to
Bussotti when she met him in his workshop, saying that Cesca told her the
delivery would be difficult and painful. When Bussotti tries to comfort her, telling
her that they always were, she expresses her nervousness again, saying that she was
old to be having a baby. Bussotti ignored her concerns, going to work the next
morning as always, only to be interrupted by one of his workers telling him a boy

women by white men throughout slavery and until this very day and age goes on
hardly ever talked about, and justifies this manner as an additional technique used as
an essential weapon to maintain white male supremacy, and dehumanize Black
persons culture. This piece will examine how gender and raceinterconnects with the
perception of what is considered criminal intent and the justice system. Gender
acts on as an important task in recognizing who commit what sorts of crimes, why
they carry out so, who is frequently wronged, and most importantly how the
criminal justice system take actions to these victims and wrongdoers. How the
many racial occurrences shape they way our society is structured and what impact
it on has women s bodies. One will observe how rape is surrounded by the unlawful
beliefs and will bring to light why one should be aware of those beliefs and its
approach towards women. Those accused of raping Black and White women, if
they are Black men they will be charged much more severe and more than likely, in
the past, become lynching victims. If a White man is accused of rape, generally
excuses are made for his acts of crime and are often let off and won t be held
culpable. One will argue that lynching and rape was an answer premeditated to hark
back blacks of their true position, to uphold decreasing white male domination.

brazil s economy, public spending has continued to grow, with public spending at
high levels and inflation currently at 6% a full 1.5% above the target level of 4.5%,
the fiscal policy has the potential to create major issues for Brazils long term growth
and sustainability. With the need to cut around 2.5% of Government spendingin order
to continue to have a surplus whilst re paying loans and interest on its loans Brazil
could see its decrease in unequal wealth distribution reversed and actually cause
further polarisation by being unable to fund the least wealthiest. Brazil s need to
reduce its spending comes at a difficult with more expenses than usual to deal with,
such as the world cup in 2014 and The Olympics in 2016, meaning public money
needs to be invested increasing infrastructure such as sport venues, roads and
airports. This could cause problems to Brazil s continued development and success,
however if done to success Brazil could benefit from these great sporting events with
possible increased trade, exposure and tourism.
On the whole Brazil is a country continuing to grow and achieve both economically
and socially this can be seen in a variety of ways from its inclusion in the BRICS to
its higher levels of GDP in recent years.

this pattern of gaining knowledge did not pick up significantly until the Scientific
Revolution. In the sixteenth and seventeenth century, the Scientific Revolution
started, which concerned the fields of astronomy, mechanics, and medicine. These
new scientists used math and observations strongly contradicting religious thought at
the time, which was dependent on the Aristotelian Ptolemy theory. However,

Everything on earth was imperfect while all that in space was perfect because God

while lighter things sink to the ground slowly. This idea was adapted by the Church
to explain the admission into heaven. Those who are an overall better person will
rise up to heaven while those who are not so good will sink into the center of the
earth into hell. As a result, everything was related and backed up by theology. These
concepts would later be weakened by scientists of the Scientific Revolution. Johannes
Kepler (1571 1630) was a German astronomer who believed in the heliocentric theory.
Kepler is a clear example of the narrow line that separated science and religion.
Nonetheless, his ideas would show that things could be solved through reason alone.
He believed that the harmony of the human soul could be found through numerical
relationships that existed between planets. He found that the planets: Mercury, Venus,
Earth, Mars, Uranus, Jupiter, and Saturn all revolved at different times. For example,
the earth revolved around the sun in a year while Saturn revolved around the sun in
fifty years. From this, Kepler found a mathematical ratio, nine to the two thirds
power, to explain this phenomenon. This was revolutionary to humanity s place in
the universe. People were shocked that the universe could be explained by math alone
rather than religion. This went strongly

Prejudice and discrimination are two of the biggest conflicts and problems that
today s society and humanity is facing. Prejudice is defined as holding an
unfavourable opinion or attitude towards a specific social group and its members.
When one social group hates another group of people so significantly that they can
torture, murder and harass innocent members of society this is a serious concern. In
this essay I m going to discuss psychologys explanations of prejudice and why these
attitudes are formed. Many crimes are committed because of prejudice opinions and
attitudes these are known as hate crimes. In 2016 17 there we 80,393 hate crime

This notion is the main foundation of Dollard s associates explanation of
scapegoating, prejudice and intergroup aggression. The theory of frustration
aggression also identifies a huge obstacle from research indicating that frustration is
neither necessary nor sufficient for aggression. Aggression can occur when
frustration is absent, and frustration does not necessarily always result in aggression.
(Bandura 1973; Berkowitz 1962) Consequently this hypothesis can only explain a
limited subsection of intergroup aggression. Other explanations are needed to explain
different forms of intergroup aggression or prejudice and intergroup aggression. To
try and save the theory Berkowitz proposed three major changes to attempt the
resurrection of this theory. The first change being that the probability of frustration
induced aggression being expressed was increased and motivated by the presence of
certain situational cues to aggression, this would include past or present associations
with a group (scapegoat) with a conflict or dislike. The second change being the
explanation that it is not objective frustration that instigates

45. Ideal Education For Future Students
Ideal Education for Future Students
Education is a form of knowledge that have been passed down and revise to the
point of perfection. All of us have to get our knowledge from someone whether it is
our grandparents, parents, siblings, or teachers. Through applying and processing the
knowledge that is given, you could improve on the idea even further, therefore every
generation will get the best from the last. Wisdom is only as useful as to how much
you can exercise it into real life application, for that reason teaching isn t easy as
communicating the information, but instead have the concept in practice. Learning
isn t about memorization, but rather of how it came to be. For example in a calculus
class you could have a teacher teach six trig equations two ways, first just tell the
student to memorize it, or second you can show them how one equation can be
rewritten five other ways and that s how the all six of them came to be. Banking
education claim to be effective for memorizing things quickly, which is true, but
then you will most likely to forget it later on. I like to think education is something
worthwhile and essential knowledge to have, which sucks if you going to forget
about it later on and the time you spent memorizing will just go to waste. Liberated
education allows you to practice what you ve learn just like how you would do it
on a job, by doing so you will retain the materials effectively. I think a lot of us have
heard of this question in class before,

47. Julie Andrews, James Earl Jones, And Jim Parsons
If one would to ask you how Julie Andrews, James Earl Jones, and Jim Parsons have
anything in common, the simplest answer besides them all having a name that start
with a J, is that they re among the many actors and actresses that enjoy successful
careers both on stage and on screen. Although film acting differs from stage acting,
the practice can still equip an actorto excel at both. But the point at hand is still at
question, just how do these two different forms of entertainment both come together
with their similarities, but yet separate when it comes to their differences?
Well, for starters, The biggest difference between acting for stage versus acting for
screen is the location of the audience. In a theatre, the stage tends to be far away
from the audience. Depending on the size of the theatre, the actors need to
exaggerate their facial expressions and gestures so even the people towards the
back of the theatre can see what s going on. For example, actors cannot express
sadness with just a single tear onstage, since only the audience members closest to
the stage will see it, leaving everyone else in a world of confusion as to what is
going on right in front of them.
When acting on screen, however, the camera can get extremely close to the actor,
which closes the gap between the audience and the ... Show more content on

For each live theatre performance, actors have just one chance to get thing in order
before they get on stage to perform. That s why it is so important to have a strong

production budget, microphones may or may not be used during a performance.
Even with a microphone, actors must practice and perform their lines accurately each
time, with crisp diction and clear enunciation. In musicals, actors must get their notes
and lyrics correct on the first try. There are no do overs during a live theatre

The Hmong had trouble adapting to American life. With no driver s license or bank

more quickly than the men did because of the fact that they interacted more with
English speaking people. While the men were at work, the women were spending
time interacting. The Hmong men also refused to change more that the women did.
This shift of power caused a lot of changes in Hmong households. What even caused
more of a power shift was the fact that the Hmong children learned about the culture

was back in Southeast Asia, the children now had the upper edge. The children could

49. Miss Julie Essay
Miss Julie is a naturalistic tragedy, in which Strindberg examines the rigid class
structures of 19th century Sweden. His manipulation of the setting and staging to
establish the social strata within his play allows both the criticism and reinforcement
of the play s social hierarchy, as well as that of Sweden. This manipulation is further
utilised to exhibit the role of the characters, predominantly Miss Julie and Jean, the
disparate protagonists, within these strata. Strindberg establishes a single setting,
which acts as a platform for sexual and social conflicts. His use of spatial determinism
suggests that class divisions are permanent social constructs, which can only be
temporarily subverted. The incorporation of epitomic components within the single
setting the kitchen and the garden highlights the profound disparity between the
aristocracy and the proletariat. The psychological and physical distance at which the
lower class is alienated from the upper class is also portrayed through contrasting
settings. Thus, Strindberg s ingenious adaption of mise en scГЁne in conjunction
with the application of a multitude of literary techniques essentially allows the
comprehensive exploration of the rigidity of class structures. Strindberg s utilisation
of spatial determinism essentially conveys the inflexible nature of 19th century class
structures and emphasises Miss Julie s powerlessness to subvert her social stereotype
permanently. Julie s physical inability to escape the

51. Negative Effects Of Turnover On Business
Effects of Turnover on Business
Turnover is when employees leave an organization either to seeking higher pay
elsewhere or for any other reasons (Allen 1). Turnover in an organization is an
important aspect that can affect the operations of a business. It has been proven over
time to be one of the most expensive and one of the most difficult challenges that can
face an organization. As such, Human Resource managers and other top management
teams in every industry must pay attention to issues related to employee turnover.
Turnover has also drawn the attention of academicians who develop an interest to do
more research about it. The paper will focus on the effects of turnover on a business
organization.
Staff turnover has been listed as one of the most difficult challenges that can face an
organization. The costs arise from the processes of recruiting new members staff,
interviewing, orientation and costs of training among many others (Surji 53). The
entry positions in a firm can cost the company amounts that are equal to the entire
employees wages. As such, the expenses of a company will increase, which will
reduce the profit margin of the company. When the profit margin declines, the growth
of the company will stall. Investors who are interested in investing in the firm and
credit institutions may avoid the company.
Cost can be a vital issue that can affect a company financially. Other business related
factors are also significant. Customer service and the quality of the

Jonathan Franzen wrote the article, Liking is for Cowards. Go for what Hurts. This
article caused extreme interest and controversy by the topic of his argument. The
purpose of Franzen writing the article was to challenge us to get back to the true
meaning of love and not being so terrified of rejection. He feels that we had become
too comfortable just liking what people expect us to and have lost the real
understanding of the word love. Franzen stated, If you dedicate your existence to
being likable, however, and if you adopt whatever cool persona is necessary to
make it happen, it suggests that you ve despaired of being loved for who you really

He wants people to step away from their technology and go out into the real world
and have real world experiences. He wants people to take risks, but most of our
world is afraid of that, because of the fear of rejection. Franzen states, The prospect
of pain generally, the pain of loss, of breakup, of death, is what makes it so
tempting to avoid love and stay safely in the world of liking. He s admitting that
love is hard and it comes with its own risks, but in the end, it is definitely worth it.
Franzen discusses his relationship to the environment to try to expand on the
ethos of his writing. He wrote how in college he developed a strong liking for the
environment and the world around us. He began to be frustrated and discouraged
by all of the negatives that the world faces every single day, such as rising global
temperatures and the accumulation of garbage in the ecosystem. Eventually, he
made a conscious decision to back away from the environment, but then he found a
fascination with birds. He felt a sense of love for the birds, and ironically, this
made him even more concerned about the environment because that was the home
of the birds that he had such a passion for. And here s where a curious paradox
emerged. My anger and pain and despair about the planet were only increased by my
concern for wild birds, and yet, as I
53. The Treatment of the Lower Class in Radcliffe s The...
Elizabeth Bohls, in her study Women Travel Writers and the Language of Aesthetics,
1716 1818, argues that aesthetic theories of the eighteenth century served to support
the social and political hierarchy of the time. The observer, the viewing subject the
educated, wealthy male is defined by what is constructed as opposite and antithetical
to him the labouring class, the female, and the non European. The language of
aestheticsthus also becomes the language of social exclusion. She notes the
structuring dualisms of eighteenth century society: polite/vulgar, man/woman,
civilized/savage (67); she continues that the second terms are subordinated as the foils
against which the aesthetic subject defines himself (67 68).

Here we see a hint of the sort of observations Helen Maria Williams makes in her
travelogue A Tour in Switzerland, where many passages dwell on the political and
social realities of the inhabitants such as the lowly status of the peasants in the
Canton of Basil (vol. I, ch.VII).
The servants, like other characters, are flat. The female servants most dominant trait
is their predilection for chattering. Alongside the latter, superstition is a defining
characteristic of all lower class characters, continually exhibited by Annette, and
even by the kindly peasant La Voisin who houses St Aubert just before the latter s
death. The servants and peasants are a clear foil to the sensible, yet rational, upper
class members Emily, St Aubert, Valancourt, whose engagement with their
environment is portrayed as aspiring to a higher level they are often possessed of
solemn feelings of awe, contemplation of the Deity, or fits of melancholy. The
servants seem all together free from such refined feelings as delicious melancholy and
delightful terrors.
The servants do not appear to belong to the same moral framework as the main
characters the framework in which virtue equals taste, and an appreciation of nature
is a sign of good moral character. A sensibility to landscape does not appear to be a
pre requisite for a virtuous disposition in the labouring classes. Though most of them

Barbarians
3.J.M. Coetzee s Waiting for the Barbarians
3.1 Critical Discourse Analysis
In Coetzee s slim novel Waiting for the Barbarians, the author focuses on the abiding
problems of man s malicious treatment of men and women. During the composition
of Coetzee s third novel, the anti apartheid activist Stephen Biko was murdered in
prison. The subsequent media coverage of the public inquiry provided Coetzee with
his theme for Waiting for the Barbarians; The effects of totalitarianism and torture on
the life of liberal conscience [and] the simultaneous processes of distancing and
homecoming (Attwell 201). Throughout the novel, the Magistrate is repulsed, and
questions, the acts of conquest, murder and torture. Additionally, the Magistrate tries

Eventually, the Magistrate realizes that true reciprocation between him and the
barbarian girl proves to be impossible, and he makes the determination of taking
her back to her own Place. This literary cocktail invented by Coetzee in Waiting for
the Barbarians is incredibly powerful: an intricate merger of cultural Otherness, an
idiosyncratic sexual desire involving a tortured body, and an Empire teetering on
the brink of collapse. What is more, the Magistrate s decision to bring the barbarian
girl back to her own Place, has far reaching implications for himself, and
subsequently positions him upon his return to the frontier, in the role of the Other:
There is not one face among them that I recognize, their eyes are stony, they do not
answer my questions but march us back like prisoners through the open gates
(Coetzee, WftB 82). During his incarceration, the Magistrate has ample
opportunity for self reflection, or more eloquently put his self recriminating
psychology; I wanted to do what was right, I wanted to make reparation: I will not
deny this decent impulse, however mixed with more questionable motives: there
must always be a place for penance and reparation (Coetzee, WftB 88). The old
Magistrate feels like he is turning into an animal and eventually escapes from
captivity, but having nowhere else to go he returns to his cell. Finally, Colonel Joll
returns from his military expedition into the barbaric lands, bringing back twelve
miserable captives, to prove to his children that the barbarians are real (Coetzee,
WftB 113). The colonialist inclinations, which are attached to the barbarians, are
described in a diabolically literal
