Freud Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of Freud is a challenging endeavor that demands a profound
understanding of Freudian theories, extensive research, and the ability to critically analyze
complex psychological concepts. Freud's ideas, spanning from the id, ego, and superego to his
interpretations of dreams and the Oedipus complex, require careful examination and thoughtful
articulation.
The difficulty lies not only in comprehending Freud's intricate theories but also in presenting
them coherently within the constraints of an essay. It necessitates delving into the historical
context, exploring the evolution of Freudian thought, and connecting it to contemporary
perspectives. Moreover, one must navigate the controversies surrounding Freud's work,
acknowledging both his contributions and criticisms from various schools of thought.
Constructing a Freud essay demands a balance between providing a comprehensive overview of
his theories and delving into specific aspects with depth. It entails the challenge of presenting a
nuanced analysis, considering the cultural and societal influences on Freud's work, while also
recognizing the limitations and critiques that have emerged over time.
In addition to these intellectual challenges, the writer must ensure clarity in expression,
maintaining a cohesive narrative that guides the reader through the intricate web of Freudian
concepts. Proper citation of sources and a thorough bibliography add an extra layer of
complexity to the task.
However, for those who find themselves grappling with the intricacies of a Freud essay, there is
an alternative avenue. Expert assistance is available on platforms like HelpWriting.net, where
you can access a range of essay writing services. From Freudian analysis to various other topics,
such services offer tailored essays crafted by professionals, providing a valuable resource for
those seeking well-researched and expertly written content.

Kristine Le. Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 . The Diabetes Quebec
Kristine Le
Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 The Diabetes Quebec Association states that in the past, a
diagnosis of diabetes meant certain death . This was held true until a Canadian
physician, Frederick Banting, discovered the hormone insulin in 1921. He was able
to isolate a unknown matter from the pancreas of a dog and inject it into another
dogs pancreas s. This discovery enabled them to save the lives of these diabetic dogs.
Through trial and error Banting was able to perfect the purification of insulin in order
for it to be injected on a daily basis to compensate for the insulin not being produced
by the pancreas to control the blood sugar in hyperglycemic patients. Diabetes

This disease does not favor one gender over the other, it effects males and females
equally. Currently, the origin of diabetes is a conundrum. Although, it is understood
that the immune system attacks the beta cells but it is not clear how or why it occurs.
It is hypothesized that T1D maybe hereditary and environmental factors contribute to
the onset (5). Symptoms prevail in individuals whom have the majority of their beta
cells destroyed via a cellular mediated autoimmune response (1). The insulin signaling
cascade is initiated when insulin binds to insulin receptors located on the cell s
surface. The insulin receptor has four subunits: two alpha subunits located on the
outside of the cell and two transmembrane beta subunits (3 4). When insulin binds to
the alpha subunit receptors, it transmits a signal across the plasma membrane and
activates tyrosine residues that are attached to the beta subunits. The activation of the
tyrosine residues causes it to autophosphorolate and then phosphorolate other proteins
that also have tyrosine residues attached to them. These phosphorylated proteins then
move on to trigger cellular responses such as translocation of GLUT4 vesicule to the
cell membrane. The vesicule becomes a transporter to allow glucose to come into the
cell so that it can continue on and be stored as glycogen (3). A beta cell specific
autoimmune process is the beginning of the destruction of the beta cells that produce
insulin.
Emergency Management Essay
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION TO EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
This chapter provides an overview that describes the basic types of hazards
threatening the United States and provides definitions for some basic terms such as
hazards, emergencies, and disasters. The chapter also provides a brief history of
emergency management in the federal government and a general description of the
current emergency management system including the basic functions performed by
local emergency managers. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the all hazards
approach and its implications for local emergency management.
Introduction There are many ways to describe emergency management and the
importance of the tasks emergency managers perform. Indeed, in ... Show more

The natural environment is, of course, not getting its revenge . Geophysical,
meteorological, and hydrologic processes are unfolding as they have for millennia,
beginning long before humans occupied the earth and continuing to the present.
Given the eons long perspective of the natural environment, it would be very difficult
to identify meaningful changes in event frequency for the short time period in which
scientific records are available on geological, meteorological, and hydrological
phenomena. Event frequency, from an emergency management perspective, is not
really the issue. It is certainly true that, over the years, more people have been
affected by natural disasters and losses are becoming progressively greater. The
significant feature driving these observations, however, is the extent of human
encroachment into hazard prone areas. With increasing population density and
changing land use patterns, more people are exposed to natural hazards and
consequently our accumulated human and economic losses are increasing. Much of
this exposure is a matter of choice. Sometimes people choose hazardous places,
building houses on picturesque cliffs, on mountain slopes, in floodplains, near
beautiful volcanoes, or along seismic faults. Sometimes people choose hazardous
building materials that fail under extreme environmental stresses for example,
unreinforced masonry construction in seismically active areas. Some exposure
results from constrained choices; the cheap land or

Do People Who Are Trafficking Human Organs Help Other People?
(Campbell Davison, 2012), say that the unlawful business in human organs special
kidneys has advanced quickly and unexpectedly. The reasons why selling kidneys
has advanced quickly is that nowadays many countries have wars so there are
many poor people who need money to live a good life. Also, after wars, there are
many sick people that felt desperation because they lost their organs in the war and
no one donated to them, so they needed to buy organs to stay alive. Other reason is
because people have two kidneys so when they sell one kidney for important reasons,
they won t die. Most countries punish those people who sell their organs that are why

I have a story that happened to my cousin Fatima. She was 22 years old. She had an
accident. She lost her kidney in the accident. She needed another kidney. In Kuwait,
you can t buy an organ, so she waited for anyone to donate a kidney for her but no
one did. She felt desperate. Her brother Khalid found a poor family that they want
money to live a good life. He persuaded one person in this family to give Fatima a
kidney for money. He accepted what Khalid wanted, and he went with Khalid to the
doctors. They lied to the doctor by saying he wanted to donate to Fatima because he
couldn t say she bought my kidney. Fatima is healthy now, and the poor family sent
their children to study in schools because they now have money. That s why many
sick people who feel despair buy organs.
Some critics may argue, however, that it is the greed of the middleman which creates
illegal trafficking of human organs. There is a great profit to be made by the middle
man, so oftentimes the unscrupulous become organ traders. Researchers point out
that trafficking will continue as long as there are huge profits to be made (Caplan
Arp, 2013). For example,Randall Gross,2008) writes a story about trafficking human
organs. The author wrote about an Egyptian man, his name is Saad Helmi. He is
Stereotypes In Hollywood Movies
Living in the United States as a person of color can prove to be difficult to immerse
oneself into the Western media. Why? Because it can be confusing to go watch a
movie, like Aloha (2015) and seeing a character named Allison Ng being portrayed
by a Caucasian actress. The casting choice of Emma Stone to portray a character who
is supposed to be of Chinese and Hawaii descent brings up the whitewashing
controversy within Hollywood production. It is certainly not the first
misrepresentation that Hollywood movies have committed against the Asian ethnic
minority, but one of the many that can be traced back to as early as 1931. In the film,
Charlie Chan Carries On (1931), Warner Oland was chosen to play as the movie s
main Asian character Charlie... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If an Asian man is shown as an uneducated and savage character in a movie, the
viewers of that movie would most likely form a negative perception towards those
of Asian descent due to the movie s influence. Stereotypes are widely accepted,
culturally shared beliefs describing personal traits and characteristics of groups of
individuals. Media discourses help to define, share, and maintain racial stereotypes
across societies over time, especially when interracial contact is limited.
(Ramasubramanian) Yellow peril, arguably the oldest stereotypical representation of
people of Asian descent in Western media. These portrayals of Asians through
yellow peril in Western media paint them as threats who will take over the U.S
culture and society. In The Mask of Fu Manchu (1932), the Chinese character Fu
Manchu directs his army to exterminate the white man and take the white man s
women. This imposes the basis of yellow peril and the fear of the white man s sexual
anxiety as it reduces the Asian character into a savage being. In the late 19th century,
Chinese people were depicted in mainstream newspapers and magazines as immoral,
heathen, barbarian, disease ridden, brutal, corrupt, and uncivilized. (Kim

Lord Of The Flies.

Mr Golding:Good afternoon to you.
Leanne:As we all know, Lord of the flies is about lots of boys trapped on an island.
What was the reason of putting just boys on the island?
Why were there no girls?
Mr Golding:At the time of the book, it was the war. Fighting and arguing was going
on around us, and it seemed as though nobody was really sane anymore. It started off
as being happy and positive, and ended up being complete madness. Women were at

Why did you feel it was necessary to include this?
Mr Golding:At the age that the boys are, they are boisterous, very loud and they are
basically trying to impress each other. Jack is known as the leader of the hunters,
but it is obvious that he really doesn t have a clue about hunting. I purposely made
him a choirboy because they are known to be girl like quiet pretty boys. When Jack
tells the boys he will be the leader of the hunters, there is a sense of shock. I wanted
it to be a surprise for the reader that such an innocent boy could be so sinister. He is
so eager to gain some kind of authority over the group that he is willing to destroy his
innocence and murder a creature.
Leanne:You mentioned innocence there. What do you mean by that?
Mr Golding:Well, a fifteen year old boy has a lot of innocence about him. By killing
something, the young child is almost breaking the rules of what it has been brought
up to believe in. When they witness blood that they have caused, their childhood is
automatically broken.
Leanne: I see. There is a lot of chaos running through the book. Why did you add this
effect?
Mr Golding: Young boys always want to be in charge. I imagined myself and a
group of my friends, when we were younger of course, stranded on an island. We
would have been fighting, and not listening to what anybody had to say. It would

The cell is the basic unit of living things, and is made up of multiple organelles.
Organelles are membrane bound subdivisions, each specialised for a specific
function. This experiment looks at the Plasma Membrane, which is a semipermeable
layer surrounding the cell. It s primary job is to control what goes in and out of the
cell. Molecules can move across this membrane in either an active movement or a
passive movement. Active being that which requires energy and only occurs when

The solutions of 2% and 10% both reached dynamic equilibrium as neither had lost
nor gained water during the experiment, This indicates that the results may have been
inconclusive because two, widely various solutions could not have both reached
dynamic equilibrium with the potato cell. This leads to the idea that there were a few
errors made while performing this experiment, which most likely had an effect on
the results, causing them to be non reliable. Firstly, the test tubes had not been
properly cleaned before the experiment took place. This caused a strange smell and
a colouration of the potato tuber, it may also have increased or decreased the
osmotic potential, though this cannot be known as it is not known what chemical
residue may have been left in the test tubes. Secondly, the potato cells had been left
in for three days instead of the recommended 24hrs. This mistake may have caused
the soft, sogginess of the potato which rendered it difficult to pat dry and handle.
During this part of the experiment, pieces of the cells were broken and lost down
drains or stuck to the paper towel, as well as many still containing much excess water.
Because of this, the weights measured could be inaccurate and therefor unreliable.

Isabella as an Independent Female in Shakespeare s
Measure...
It seems rare in a Shakespearean play to find a female character to whom women in
this new millennium can relate. Modern women are expected to be strong,
independent, educated and intelligent, and in control of their own destinies. Women
are also considered to be on equal footing with their male counterparts in regards to
abilities, privileges, and rights. Although these ideals may not be completely realistic
in the real world, in general, these are the ways in which a twenty first century woman
is perceived. In the time period Shakespeare was writing in the abilities and roles
expected of women were very different. For women in Shakespeare s Measure for
Measure, there are extremely limited roles women can fulfill and all of them centre...

As a nun Isabella would have little contact with men and would not be answerable to
anyone other than her female order. Isabella is unavailable to any men, even Angelo.
She does not conform to one of the roles society deems appropriate for a female.
She is a virgin but has no intention of marrying. She believes passionately in her
faith and would not sacrifice her body for any sinful reason, meaning that she would
never become a prostitute. As a virgin destined to remain so the rest of her life,
Isabella falls outside of Angelo s understanding.
Even before she takes the vows Isabella does not seem to have any strong male
roles directing her life. Claudio is her only relation and she spends the duration of
the play trying to rescue him rather than the other way around. Rather than
rendering her vulnerable this lack of male dominance seems to suit Isabella quite
well. She is intelligent and outspoken in her defence of her brother, boldly
contradicting Angelo on several occasions. Angelo claims there is no remedy
(2.2.49) to Claudio s sentence but Isabella does not accept this saying, Yes, I do
think that you might pardon him (2.2.50). Just ten lines later she does this again,
boldly questioning what he has told her instead of accepting Angelo s decree.
Isabella even dares, in this same speech, to instruct Angelo in her beliefs about mercy

Enzymes in Pineapple
Background:
Enzymes are very efficient catalysts for biochemical reactions. They speed up
reactions by providing an alternative reaction pathway of lower activation energy.
Like all catalysts, enzymes take part in the reaction that is how they provide an
alternative reaction pathway. But they do not undergo permanent changes and so
remain unchanged at the end of the reaction. They can only alter the rate of reaction,
not the position of the equilibrium. Enzymes are usually highly selective, catalyzing
specific reactions only. This specificity is due to the shapes of the enzyme molecules.

Collagen
About one quarter of all the protein in your body is collagen. It is a major structural
material that forms molecular cables to strengthen the tendons and resilient sheets
that support the skin and internal organs. Bones and teeth are made by adding
mineral crystals to collagen. Collagen provides structure to our bodies, protecting and
supporting the softer tissues and connecting them with the skeleton. But, in spite of
its critical function in the body, collagen is a relatively simple protein.
Collagen from livestock animals is a familiar ingredient in cooking. Collagen is a
protein, and like most proteins, when heated, it loses all of its structure. The polymer
molecule unwinds. Then, when the denatured mass cools down, it soaks up all of the
surrounding water like a sponge, forming gelatin.

Muckrakers in the Progressive Era

accredited to President Theodore Roosevelt. It was alluding to the man with the
Muck Rake in Bunyan s Pilgrim s Process. The Man with the Muck rake seeks
material advances by raking filth. Roosevelt defined this term as one who inquires

leaders . Muckrakers in the Progressive Era, a time from 1820 until 1920 when

In 1892, she was asked by Susan B. Anthony to address Congress on the proposed

Catt worked through both state and federal levels persuading legislators to give

Harley Davidson, An American Motorcycle Manufacturer
Harley Davidson, Inc. (H D), or Harley, is an American motorcycle manufacturer,
founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1903. It was formed by William S. Harley and
his childhood friend Arthur Davidson.
In 1901, 20 year old William S. Harley had plans to manufacture a motorcycle and
he designed a small engine that could be easily get fitted into the paddle bicycle.
But the drawback of that was it couldn t climb up the hill in Milwaukee. So they
thought to come up with a bigger engine and this lead to the success of Harley
Davidson.
As one of two major American motorcycle manufacturers to survive the Great
Depression (along with Indian),[5] the company has survived numerous ownership

In 1917, the United States entered World War I and the military demanded

the Pancho Villa Expedition but World War I was the first time the motorcycle had
been adopted for combat service. The U.S. military purchased over 15,000
motorcycles from Harley Davidson during World War I. Harleys were also used in
the World War II and the US army specifically asked Harley Davidson to incorporate
the features of BMW s side valve and shaft driven R71, which Harley did
successfully.
By 1920, Harley Davidson was the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, with
28,189 machines produced, and dealers in 67 countries.
The Great Depression began a few months after the introduction of their 45 cubic
inch model. Harley Davidson s sales fell from 21,000 in 1929 to 3,703 in 1933.
Despite this, Harley Davidson unveiled a new lineup for 1934. In order to survive
the remainder of the Depression, the company manufactured industrial powerplants
based on their motorcycle engines. They also designed and built a three wheeled
delivery vehicle called the Servi Car, which remained in production until 1973.
Present situation Presently Harley Davidson is doing what it does the best and the
strategy is same since 1987. Harley Davidson has maintained a unique position in US

Pneumonia
Pneumonia is a condition that occurs in the lungs that causes inflammation. It is
caused by infections at large. However, bacteria, fungi, viruses and other parasites
may also be responsible for the condition. Older people who are above 65 years,
people having chronic illness and those who have a week immune systemare more
prone and likely to this kind of inflammation. Pneumonia can range from mild to life
threatening illness. In fact this condition is characterized with high inflammation in
the lungs which is caused by the abnormal filling of fluid in the alveolar. Alveoli are

Tests and diagnose of Pneumonia
The tests may be based on physical exam and medical history. The following are
some tests which you may undergo:
Physical exam
Here the doctor checks for some bubbling sound that be little abnormal and some
crackling sounds may also be associated with it. This may signal the presence of a
thick liquid in the lungs.
X rays
This can be used to confirm pneumonia which can be used to determine the location
and extent of the infection.
Mucus and blood test
To measure the count of white blood cells, you may undergo blood tests, which can
also be used to determine the presence of bacteria, virus and other organism. The
mucus can also be used to examine and identify the microorganism.
Home remedies for pneumonia are beneficial at the early stage. Some of these

Authorial Voice In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Often while reading a novel, we come to be so submersed in the story that we
forget about authorial voice as the characters speak directly into our ears. There is
definitely an art behind authorial voice because when that voice is too loud we
become distracted but when it is too quiet we become bored. Authorial voice is
especially interesting in this book as a result of the multiple perspectives through
which the story is told. How does the point of view of the passage affect authorial
voice? How is the style unique to the author? How do the different narrations affect
authorial voice? How does the choppiness develop voice? How does the figurative
speech affect our perception of Peter? What are the links between the memories and
Peter s situation?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author uses various tools such as semicolons, incomplete sentences, and
ellipses. Complete sentences interspersed within these marks actually serve to add
to the uneven writing. The choppiness may portray rushing, being distressed, and
being careless. Let us look to the first paragraph to analyze the style. The first
sentence is incomplete because it lacks a subject. In this way, it seems as if Peter s
mind is separate from his body. Perhaps his body is asleep but his mind is working.
This sentence automatically sets the tone for the rest of the passage. If it were
instead to say, I lay awake for several hours, we would lose the state of distress and
not understand the emotion behind the reason for laying awake. The use of the
word cataclysm is interesting since it implies an attempt to attract turmoil. Next a
semicolon, a tool used to connect ideas, breaks up the wording even more. The
phrase after the semicolon suddenly becomes complete. Despite this, there is no
depth added in the form of a compound or complex sentence. Skipping a bit further
we find the word sediciosos which requires the reader to pause and read a bit slower.
First thoughts when analyzing this paragraph might be that the author is showing the
thought processes of Peter in his agitated state. This is definitely a correct statement,
but the choppiness also forces the reader to read differently. If all the sentences were
incomplete,
The Bible Is Full Of Wisdom And Folly
The Bible is full of wisdom and folly. This essay will evaluate the concepts of
diligent people in Hebrew wisdom being wise, while the lazy person is a fool. The
major part of the essay will concentrate in Proverbs, but we will review some
scriptures from Ecclesiastes. Proverbs was written by Solomon, and he wrote it
out of concern for his children. Ecclesiastes is said to have been written by
Solomon, but this is not certain. Both books can be used by all for guidance,
regardless of their age. Proverbs in general concentrates on moral virtues, and the
opposite, their vices. The main theme of the book is the fear of the Lord, as it is
seen fourteen times in Proverbs. Ecclesiastes main theme is life without God is
empty, pointlessness and without meaning. There are a lot of contrasting chapters
and verses comparing the differences between being wise and foolish, the wicked and
righteous and the lazy and hardworking. Both books mainly concentrate on the
contrasts between evil and good and foolishness and wisdom. So, let s look at some
verses and relate the concepts, describe and compare them to being diligent (wise) or
laziness (foolish).
In Proverbs 15:19 it says The way of a sluggard is like a hedge of thorns, but the
path of the upright is a level highway (ESV). This saying corroborates the points of
Proverbs concerning the directives that diligence is the way of the wise and the path
with less resistance. But the path of laziness is foolishness and filled with trouble,

standing positive history within the university, and was a cash cow due to the number
of credit hours, tuition funding per faculty, and local and state service projects.
Despite this background, the future of the facultywas uncertain, as their value to the
university had diminished and changeswithin the university were occurring to which
they were unresponsive.
Coupled with these changes, great tension and conflicts within the department
signaled to the faculty members that what had been was no more , that is, their
world had changed and the positive experiences that they had come to enjoy was no
longer being afforded them. The department had a cast of characters who as faculty
members were miserable in their positions, did not like going into work, and felt
stuck professionally. They were at a loss in not being able to move forward. Their
interactions with each other had degenerated over time. The chairperson, Adolf Petty,
who was an unlikeable, hateful, bitter and jealous individual, focused on minor
infractions by faculty members and obsessed with rules, regulations, and hierarchy.
After a no confidence vote at a faculty meeting, Petty was
Overview of the War of the Rif
The Rif Army
The war of the Rif, also known as the second Moroccan War, was fought from 1920
to 1926. Spain, France and the Moroccan Berbers, of the Rif s mountain region, had
joined forces to take control and divide the country of Morocco into even parts. The
reason behind this was because they wanted power, like most imperializing countries
strive for. What the invading force did not know was that this was not going to be an
easy task.
The Rifs, the indigenous tribes of Morocco had joined forces to fight this super
power using guerrilla warfare that devastated the Spanish and French forces. Led by
Abd al Karim, the Rifs defeated the Spanish on their initial invasion and took control
of large amounts of European weapons (Pletcher, ... Show more content on

Although the Spanish army had more than 140,000 soldiers on ground, they were no
match for the highly skilled Rifian army. Eventually the Spanish reservists had to call
for assistance from the Spanish army of Africa to aid them in this conflict. The
Spanish army began to train with the French army on combat tactics and procedures
in which they eventually adopted, thus the Spanish Legion was established in 1920
under the command of General Francisco Franco. As their numbers grew larger, so
did their reputation for being extremely ruthless, as they led a large number of
offensive operations, ravaging and devastating the country of Morocco.
The War
During the course of the war, the Spanish army in northern Morocco was defeated
by the Rif army in July of 1921. This day is now known as the Disaster of Annual .
8,000 soldiers and officers were reported killed in action or had disappeared out of
an initial total of 20,000 soldiers. The Spanish were starting to be pushed back over
the following five years due to the evolving tactics that the Rif army was using
against Spain. As the Rif army pushed east, they had captured over 130 Spanish
military forts. Towards the end of 1921, Spain had lost all of the territory they had
gained during the initial invasion in 1909. The remaining 14,000 Spanish soldiers
fell back to one of the last remaining forts in eastern Morocco Melilla which
happened to be their largest military fort in
Being A Registered Nurse Essay
Someone who saves a life is looked at as a hero, but the real heroes are the
Registered Nurses of the world, who save hundreds of lives every year. A
registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has more training and experience than a
licensed practical nurse and who has passed a special exam (Merriam Webster
Dictionary). They provide patient care, educate patients and the public, and provide
advice and support to patients and family members (Occupational Outlook
Handbook What They Do www.bls.gov). Nursing is a very rewarding job. They
help take care of sick or injured patients, making sure that they receive the best
treatment. RNs can make a difference in a patient s life, and in some cases even save
them. This profession is important because nurses hold the health of society in their
hands, which keeps families and communities together. According to the National
Women s History Museum women were born nurses. Caring for someone is a
natural instinct, therefore it never started out as a job stated by historians at the
National Women s History Museum. They state As caretakers of children, family and
community, it was natural that women were the nurses, the caregivers, as human
society evolved. (Weatherford). While the men worked, women would be left home
with the children. They would take care of young and sick children and would help
other women with their children as well. Doris Weatherford explains that nurses
were rarely paid until some of the biggest wars, like the Civil

Nassab continues to say that Conrad may have been influenced by Authors with a
similar view of Africa such as Henry Stanleys, The dark Continent Quoting Chinua
Achebe, Nassaab tells us this was, and still is, The dominant image of Africa in the
Western imagination and Conrad merely brought the peculiar gifts of his own mind
to bear it . Conrads constant portrayal of Africans as Barbarians, and uneducated
savages, reflects Africa as the antithesis of Europe. This preconception was based
largely on a lack of knowledge thus leaving Europeans predisposed to viewing
Africans in this way.
Conrad represents Africa as Other , he sets in our minds; a place where man s
vaunted intelligence and refinement are finally mocked by triumphant bestiality .
(Achebe) Applying a post colonial critique to this text unveils Conrads biasness,
nescience of and natural adherence to the discourse of his time. Feminist criticism
in this way also points out the image of women as other . Just as Conrad harbors
racist ideologies toward Africa, he also reveals his fixed interpretations and biased
male vision of women. Conrad writes;
Girl? What did I mention girl? Oh, she is out of it completely. They, the woman I
mean are out of it should be out of it. We must help them stay in that beautiful world
of their own, lest our gestures get worse.
Here Conrad completely undermines womens intelligence by suggesting they are/can

Edward Cornwallis Statue Analysis
There is no doubt that Edward Cornwallis statue has certain significance. Although
the statue has been around for nearly 100 years, it is still intact. The statue of
Cornwallis was created by the Scottish sculptor J. Massey Rhind and was unveiled
at its eponymous park on June 22, 1931. It was considered the 182nd anniversary
of Cornwallis s arrival and watched as the natal day. (Announcement, 1931) The
statue looks attentively to forward, wears a cloak, left hand clenches commanding
sword, right hand holds a cocked hat, bronze figures throughout the mottled with
grooves, eyes reveal that strong ambition and tenacity of one generation leader.
The statue has a straight body, burly back symbolize the courage of Cornwallis and
the magnificent imperialism. The statue is located at center of Cornwallis Park, the
fields were lush with grass and flowers, and tall trees are in order, cluster of
dandelion open in the thick grass, the birds singing on the branch, a group of pigeons
were pecking at the crumbs that people spilled on the ground. Many tourists who
drove to Halifaxwere watching the park and the statue through the window, and
they often use the camera to record here. Five clean paths were staggered between
the bright meadows in the park. Some of the entertainment devices such as swings
and slides are built in the park for children to play and exercise. There are often
many old people enjoying the afternoon sun in long deckchairs. It is hard to imagine

Examples Of Joey In Tangerine
Throughout the book Tangerine Paul has had many different opinions of Joey. As an
example, he goes from thinking him and Joey are friends, to thinking Joey is
irritating and cocky.
In the journal entry, September 8 later, Paul s perspective of Joey is that they re
friends. For example, Joey invites Paul to make plans with him after Mike Costello s
death to help with his grieving. On page 69 it states, Look, do you want to go to the
carnival with us tomorrow? Though their conversation, this shows that Joey must
really like Paul and they must actually be friends because Joey wouldn t just pick
anyone, he s going to pick someone who he knows is going to be there for him.
Because of this, Paul probably feels that he has a good connection
Analysis Of The Lady With The Dog
The term epiphany is pretty common in literary terms, and most often means a
moment of realization or self discovery. In a story, it s when a character discovers
an awareness or knowledge that really changes their views on life. They start to
see a new light as some would say. In the story of The Lady with the Dog, there are
four parts, and each of the four parts of the story involves an epiphany of some
sort, one way or another. Part I is really the start of it all, where we discover Dmitri
Gurav s honest opinion of women, and it is not a good one. He thinks all women are
pretty dumb, and even cheats on his own wifeall the time. He talks about her in a
degrading way often. She read a great deal, used phonetic spelling, called him
husband, not Dmitri, but Dimitri, and he secretly considered her unintelligent,
narrow, inelegant, was afraid of her, and did not like to be home (Chekhov 291)
He even refers to women in general as The Lower Race. He was a full fledged
misogynist and sexist, who like to play woman as a game. After meeting Anna
Sergeyeyna, his opinion started to change just a little bit. After their first couple of
meetings, Gurav had his first epiphany. He realized that Anna was different. She was
actually intelligent, and she wasn t as easy and naГЇve as all of the other girls that he
had achieved as conquests. He had actually met a woman that he could stand to be
around for a while, which would cause him to have to think about his moral views of

Major Discoveries in Electrical Communication in the
1800’s
The nineteenth century was a very prolific era of discovery in electrical knowledge
and technologies that laid the foundation for modern electrical communication.
During this period of time the foundations of modern electrically based technologies
were discovered. The nineteenth century began with a debate between Luigi Galvani,
and Alessandro Volta regarding the source of electricityin Galvani s famous frog
experiment. These debates lead to the invention of the battery by Volta, and the
invention of Volta s. Volta s discoveries would lead the way for Ohm s law several
years later. However, before that discovery was made Hans Christian Г rstead
discovered electromagnetism, which was then used by AndrГ© Marie AmperГЁ to

Galvani noticed that when a metal scalpel was brought close one of the nerves in
the frog that the frog s leg would move. Galvani stated that the electricity observed
in the frogs was intrinsic the nerves of the frog. Galvani used multiple different
metals combinations to demonstrate the electric phenomenon. He would further
demonstrate that metals were seemingly unneeded. He did this by manipulating the
nerves and muscles of the frogs in such way that caused the same twitch, as when a
metal object was brought near. The publication of his research in 1791 would peak
the interest of Alessandro Volta. Volta was convinced that Galvani s animal
electricity was not the result of the animal tissues, but the metals within those
tissues. In an effort to prove this Volta invented the battery . Volta s battery was
built out of alternating zinc and copper disks with cloth (or a similar medium)
soaked in salt water [10]. Volta stated the following regarding the nature of
electricity with respect to Galvani s animal electricity: Herein lies the whole secret,
the whole magic of Galvanism. It is simply an artificial electricity, which acts under
the impulse of contacts between different conductors [9]. At this point Volta s theory
of electricity by contact was fully accepted. Just after Volta s greatest discovery and
before that of Ohm, Hans Christian Г rstead discovered magnetism. Г rstead
conducted a series of experiments that

RISE OF THE MIDDLE CLASS
The Victorian Era is named after the Queen of England, Queen Victoria. She ruled
from 1837 to 1901 when she died. That era, which followed the Regency time
period, is characterized by reforms in the government, industrialization in the
factories, economic prosperity, and moral decline. It forms a link and transition
between the writers of the romantic period and the very different literature of the
20th century. It was a tremendously exciting period when many artistic styles,
literary schools, as well as, social, political and religious movements flourished. It
was a time of prosperity, broad imperial expansion, and great political reform. It was

The middle class consisted of the bourgeoisie the middle working class. It was made
up of factory owners, bankers, shopkeepers, merchants, lawyers, engineers,
businessmen, traders, and other professionals. These people could be sometimes
extremely rich, but in normal circumstances they were not privileged, and they
especially resented this. There was a very large gap between the middle class and
the lower class. Industrialisation changed the class structure dramatically in the late
18th century. Hostility was created between the upper and lower classes. As a result
of industrialisation, there was a huge boost of the middle and working class.
The image of the nineteenth century as a period of great opportunity for men of
energy and skill is one that has been long established. In the past, historians have
argued that an industrious middle class made great fortunes in the early days of the
industrial revolution and converted economic success into political power in the
1832 Reform Act. This political power was then used to ensure policy reflected the
middle class interests. Such arguments present the middle class as a coherent body
mobilising their economic and political power to forge society in their image.
Challenging landed privilege and aristocratic corruption, this industrial and urban
middle class can be seen as striving to establish a society based on merit rather than
on one s birth. Through education reform, schemes of civic
Compare And Contrast The Indian Camp And The Doctor s
Wife
Ernest Hemingway was a writer who captured the spirit of his generation.
Hemingway wrote The Indian Camp and The Doctor and the Doctor s Wife .
Indian Camp is a story about a boy named Nick and his father who went to the
Indian Camp to help deliver the baby. While there they witnessed the baby s father
commit suicide. This sparked Nick s curiosity with death. Both stories detail Nick
s coming of age into adulthood. In the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife Nick s father
wants Dick, Eddy, and Billy to go cut up the wood that is on the beach but Dick tries
to tell him that it would by considered stealing because the logs belong to the Magic

An Indian woman had been in labor for 2 days, and was in pain and screaming.
While the woman helped her the men went off. The man had moved off up the
road to sit in the dark and smoke out of range of the noise she made. (92) This is
sexism because they left the women to care for the Indian woman that was having
a baby. They think it is for women to care for her and did not help at all. Instead
they tried to go far away so they didn t even have to listen to her pain. Also sexism
is in the article Forget the Legend and Read the Work by Margaret Bauer. Therefore
not only do I not dispute the opinion that the woman in labor is a mere prop in
Indian Camp, but also I defend Hemingway s using her as a vehicle toward Nick s
potential development and a means of revealing Nick s fathers callousness.
Discussing the issue that women in much of Hemingway s work are not very
important of and by themselves (Bauer 2). In the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife,
sexism is portrayed by Hemingway when he describes the interaction between the
wife and the doctor. He leaves her without answering her questions and goes off to
hunt with his son. Hemingway can be determined as a sexist by the way he
portrays the women in his stories as weak and inferior to men. Some people
believe that sexism was part of Hemingway s life because he was married 4 times
and had many mistresses and because of this and the way that he writes he is
viewed as a sexist. An example of masculinity versus femininity in the Doctor and
the Doctor s Wife is shown when the doctor is cleaning his shot gun and the wife
says you didn t say anything to anger him did you? and the doctor replies no . This
implies that the wife is weak because she does not want a confrontation. Nick
chooses to go with his father because he wants to be seen as a man and like his
father. The doctor wants to feel like a tough man but walks away from Dick s
Why Should The Citizen Should Not Be Allowed In The
Military
In the United States, we have the freedom of speech, but sometimes we do not
make the best decisions. Saying no to an armed force is not a good decision and I
believe that it is not fair. Backing out when your country needs you the most does not
show good citizenship. You should be willing to protect your country at all times. If
the militaryneeds you then you should show pride in the United Statesof America,
your home, and help protect it and all its glory, and of course, help make it a better
place. Refusing to serve the armed forces should not even be allowed because the
citizen already took the oath, and they are healthy enough to serve.
The first reason as to why it should not be allowed is because they took an oath.
Once a citizen pledges into a military service they can not just leave when their
help is needed. Once they said that pledge of allegiance to serve, protect, and fight
for their country it is required for them to fulfill their duties and do what the armed
forces are asking you to do. Leaving without permission and failure to report for duty
can lead to charges. It shoes on Article 87 Missing Movement that if the member

The Philosophies of Friedrich Nietzsche Essay
Philosophies of Friedrich Nietzsche Friedrich Nietzsche was a 19th century German
philosopher and held in regard amongst the greatest philosophers of the early part
century. He sharpened his philosophical skills through reading the works of the
earlier philosophers of the 18th century such as Immanuel Kant, John Stuart Mill,
Arthur Schopenhauer and African Spir; however, their works and beliefs were
opposite to his own. His primary mentor was Author Schopenhauer, whose belief was
that reality was built on the foundation of experience. Such as it is, one of his essays,

The fact that he gave up and refused to fight back gives room for more findings. He
disagrees with the Christian community for making Jesus a martyr and sees that in
so doing, they had made the Christ teachings vague. Nietzsche wrote his works in
the process of rebuilding the damage caused by Christians during the ancient days.
His inclination was to show the true way in which God wanted human beings to live
as opposed to what Christians were doing. Another philosophy of Nietzsche was
related to the notion of ressentiment. Defined, ressentiment is any cautious, defeatist,
or cynical attitude based on the belief that the individual and human institutions
exist in a hostile or indifferent universe or society and an oppressive awareness of
the futility of trying to improve one s status in life or in society (dictionary.com). In
the work, On the Genealogy of Morals, ressentiment is illustrated in the way the
Jewish clerics act in response to the authority of the Romans. Nietzsche states, the
Jews, that priestly people, who in opposing their enemies and conquerors were
ultimately satisfied with nothing less than a radical revaluation of their enemies
values, that is to say, an act of the most spiritual revenge. For this alone was
appropriate to a priestly people, the people embodying the most deeply repressed
priestly vengefulness. The feeling of ressentiment is subconscious and communicates

Humor In Dave Eggers A Heartbreaking Genius
The focus for my thesis is the use of humor in relations to first person unreliable
narrators. I plan to investigate what makes up an unreliable narrator in both a

why be funny? Dave Eggers and E.L Doctorow create hilarious protagonists who
are fiercely unreliable, and almost seems as if they re schizophrenic and/or insane.

Ethical Theories Of Utilitarianism, And Deontological Ethics
The three main ethical theories that will be compared in this paper are: virtue,
utilitarianism, and deontological ethics. Similarities and differences between each
theory will be pointed out to further understand the concept as well as address ethics
and morality between all three. To wrap things up, a personal experience will be
shared to explain the relationship among virtue, values, and moral concepts as they
relate to one of the three theories that will be outlined.
Virtues are the character traits that a moral life consists of such as courage, integrity,
and honesty. In virtue ethics the importance does not rely on rules and a
consequence of actions but rather if a person is expressing good moral character or
not. According to Aristotle moral virtue is expressed in good purpose that is to say,
in prescriptions for action in accordance with a good plan of life (Britannica). On the
ethics side of virtues, determination of rightfulness or wrongfulness of a specific
action is based on worthy character traits. Negative criticism of the virtue theory

Internet gambling is easy to get hooked on. There are advertisements for casinos at
almost all of the major search engines and home pages (ex: yahoo, metacrawler,

give away free money. For example one casino will give you $125.00 for a $50.00
deposit. Do you think they would really give you that money if they weren t
confident that you would get hooked and spend it all there or if they thought that
they wouldn t get it all back? Once they have lured you to their websites it is easy
for them to get your money. It seems a lot easier to spend virtual casino tokens
purchased with a credit card than it is to spend your actual hard earned cash at a
real casino. Another obvious problem with having online casinos is that children
have easy access to them. There is no way to check ID. Anyone with a credit card
number can play. Parents of children who gamble online are legally responsible for
the debt that their children accumulate. It is especially easy if the parents have
already been to that particular casino and set up an account. All the child would
need is a password and many computer operating systems have the option of saving
passwords and filling them in for the user. Young people are especially vulnerable to
Internet gambling. In virtually all studies of the rates of gambling problems at
various ages, high school and college aged individuals show the highest problem

When Looking At A Primary Source, The Analyzer Must
Take
When looking at a primary source, the analyzer must take into consideration several
components that can help him or her narrow down their inferences about the source.
The first thing to analyze in depth is the Authorship. This means to look specifically
at the topics addressed and the natural biases that are relevant in the work. The tone in
the subject matteris also important to see how strongly the source may show content
or resent towards a specific topic. Even certain writing styles can help decipher an
era, culture or even an individual. The specific word syntax leads to how an
analyzer would discover the purpose or rationale for the primary source. Purpose and
rationale are huge parts of understanding a source and the time period... Show more

Obviously looking at this, the topic is based around religion or its roots are based in
religion. Naturally there is a desire to find out which religion. Now previously there
are references to God and Christ, so the author must be some denomination of
Catholicism but in the fourth article the author says rights should be exercised in a
Christian and brotherly fashion . The author is very religious and now there is
clear evidence that he is a Christian. This along with all of the authors religious
vocabulary helps define the author as a very religious human. The author uses the
nature of religion to mediate the issue at hand. The issue is not religion because in
the third article the author exclaims Christ has delivered and redeemed us all .
Although religion is strongly talked about it is not the dissenting issue because the
author sees that who the author is dissenting from is still the son of the same God.
The issue lies in a power struggle, mainly an economic one. In the same article the
author says it is consistent with Scripture that we should be free and wish to be so.
Not that we would wish to be absolutely free and under no authority . The Author is
using religion to back the ideology of freedom. The Author clearly is talking about
authority overstepping its boundaries. The author constantly uses the term poor man
and when to referring to the poor man the author uses words such
International Trade Theory Of Comparative Advantage
And...
Several theories about international trade explain why countries have the opportunity
to trade, theory of comparative advantage and absolute advantage. Adam Smith came
up with the theory of absolute advantage where the country that produces more of
one good that another country has simply an absolute advantage over it. This theory
normally constructed with two commodities and two countries. In Schuhmachers
article Adam Smith s theory of absolute advantage and the use of doxography in the
history of economicshe says, each nation can produce one good with less expenditure
of human labor than the other and thus more cheaply. (Schuhmachers, 2012) In this
case, both countries will specialize in only producing the commodity, which they have

This means it does not matter if country A can produce more overall than country B,
as long as B can produce it more efficiently than country A. Country B will choose to
produce that product and then trade it with country A. When a country focuses on a
good that it is efficient in producing for a lower price then they increase national
income and company s increase profits. An example of comparative advantage:
Country A can produce 28 bikes and 4 radios, Country B can produce 32 bikes and
12 radios. Country B has an absolute advantage in both products but it has a
comparative advantage specifically in radios because it can efficiently produce 3
times more for less than Country A (Economics Online, 2017.)
Both theories have the positive effect of making economies that trade grow. Trade
makes a price range below the local price possible. Furthermore, the exporting
country can produce more and the importing country can use its resources on other
products in which it is better at producing. However, because trade prices of
foreign goods are lower local goods will experience lower demand. This is one of
the reasons for a trade restriction the government of a country will help maintain local
businesses.
Factor Proportion theory was originally created by two Swedish economists.
According to this theory, one condition for trade is that countries differ with respect
to the availability of the factors of production. They
Investment Financing Analysis
Investment Financing: Step # 6.
Leave Plan:
The last phase of venture capital financing is the exit to understand the venture to

deciding exact planning of leave that would rely upon a horde of elements, for
example, nature of the financial stake, the degree, and kind of money related stake,
the market condition and potential rivalry, economic situations, and so on.

The case for VC firms is similar. General partners must convince some in regards to
the affiliations already said to place put into the store with the certification of
tremendous returns (in the region of 5X and 10X) in a particular time period (as a
rule 10 years).
The VC firms should then go ahead to make clever investments so they can give the
limited partners their cash back... in addition to a benefit.
How do Venture Capital firms make money? The way Venture Capital funds make
money are two fold: by managements fee and carries (carried interest).
Management fees: administration charges are typically characterized as the cost of
having your benefits professionally managed . How does this convert into the
Venture Capital industry? VC capitals commonly pay a yearly administration charge
to the reserve s administration organization, as a type of salary and an approach to
cover authoritative and funds expenses. Administration expenses are normally
figured on a level of the capital duties of the reserve, or around 2 to 2.5 per cent.
Carried premium or carry: share of the profit of an investment or investments fund
that is paid to the investment administrator in abundance of the sum that the director
adds to the partnership. When an investment is effective, a carry speaks to the offer
of the profit that is paid to the fund supervisors. Carried interesting in Venture Capital
is typically 20 to 25 for each penny, implying
We Real Cool And Gwendolyn Brooks Mother
Gwendolyn Brooks s poems We Real Cool and Mother show that Gwendolyn
Brooks writes about the world she lives in and what she experiences not in her
own life, but in the lives of the people she sees around her. Moving around from
school to school as a kid, Brooks was given a rounded perspective on the racial
dynamics of the real world, which she shows in some of her work.Gwendolyn
Brooks captures the life experiences and events of black lives. Brooks consistently
focuses on the struggle of black people, usually associated with the family or in the
events of a hostile environment. In her poems, the people typically experience a
great pain. Brooks devotes much of her writing to trying to represent the struggles
of blacks that she sees in her life every day. In her later years of... Show more content

The voice that Brooks creates through her writing and when she gives speeches is
a voice crafted mainly for blacks, however, Brooks maintains the complex
awareness of the multiple perspectives relevant to any given experience. Her main
concern is to encourage every single person in the world, whether they are black or
white, to create a society where everyone is thought of in the same way.
Gwendolyn Brooks s writing style reflects the lives of the people around her, as
shown in her poems We Real Cool and Mother . We Real Cool, is perhaps Brooks s
single best known poem. We Real Cool was written because Brooks was passing
by a pool hall in her community during school time and she saw 7 little boys in

herself I wonder how they feel about themselves . Although the poem is very short, it

Meursault Quote Analysis
Later in the novel, Meursault has an altercation with two Arab men, ultimately
resulting in him having to shoot and kill one of them. Meursault was upset that he
had to resort to taking the man s life but also when he was in the act he did not think
of the repercussions of murdering somebody. Meursault alludes to the sunagain at the
time he was about to shoot the Arab. My forehead was especially hurting me.. (55).
Meursault does not dwell on the past nor does he worry about the future, he always
lives in the present and in turn, was ultimately the reason he murder the Arab man.
She lay down right next to me and the combined warmth of her and the sun made me
doze off. (51). This quote refers to the fact he found comfort after the murder from the
sun. Meursault used the sun to cope with the stress from him murdering the Arab
man and referenced it many prior and after the murder.... Show more content on

The Main Reasons For Government And Privatize Their
Airports
Week 1: Identify and discuss the main reasons for a government to privatize their
airports.
In basic terms Privatisation is essentially the shift of assets from the public or
government owned sector to the private sector, an important point to note is that
privatisation doesn t always refer to ownership, but can also refer only to the
management of an organisation.
The advantages of privatisation include greater efficiency and fewer limitations
involved in government spending allowances. Up until the 1990 s privatisation of
airports was mainly within the general aviation, municipal type airfields. Airports
were gradually considered as commercial enterprises , and as such commercialisation
began to take place.
Supporters of privatisation argue that it will reduce the need for public investment
and give greater access to commercial markets. By doing this they are limiting
government control, which may be a benefit in itself as there will be more space
for diversification. With a wide share of ownership there can be far greater input
from a range of sources. In a sense the government will still benefit from
privatisation, as even though they may have less control overall, they will still benefit
from the global market and from government associated taxes and levies not just on
the airports movements but also taxing of the airport company itself. Conversely on
the side of doubt, there is concern that privatisation may create a monopoly that could
potentially be over
Lord Of The Flies Pride Character Analysis
In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the character Jack shows excessive pride
which leads to conflict on the island. He shows pride by talking down to others,
promoting himself to chief, and by talking himself up. Jack s pride cause much of
the conflict in the book. Jack s pride represents how people are evil and immoral
when all rules are taken away.
Jack shows pride by electing himself to be chief so he can be in charge. I ought to
be chief, said Jack with simple arrogance, because I m chapter chorister and head
boy. I can sing C sharp. This quote exemplifies how Jack volunteered himself to be
in charge. Jack wanted to be above everybody, so he tried to convince everyone to
let him be chief. He wanted to have power and authority. We ll hunt. I m going to
be chief. This is yet another quote that shows how Jack was stubborn about how he
believed he deserved to be chief. He did not bother to ask the others about their
opinion on who should be in charge. Instead he just appointed himself. His tone
conveyed a warning, given out of the pride of ownership, and the boys ate fast
while there was still time. This quote shows how Jack was obsessed with the
power of being chief. Jack scared the other boys into respecting him as a leader.
Jack shows pride in these quotes, because he shows that he believes he should be
chief, because he is superior to everybody. All of the other boys chose Ralph as
their leader, so Jack creates conflict by challenging Ralph as chief. Jack trying to
usurp Ralph as chief shows how he was putting his needs before those of the entire
group. Jack was too prideful to allow Ralph to be in charge, and constantly
challenged him as a leader. This conflict gets in the way of the boys being able to
work together to try to survive and get rescued.
Jack shows pride by talking to his peers as if he is above them. You re talking too
much. Shut up, Fatty. This quote was spoken by Jack to Piggy. This quote shows
how Jack believed he had more of a right to speak than Piggy. He intended to put
down Piggy to get Piggy to submit to him. Give me a drink. This quote shows how
Jack forced others to serve him, because he believed that being a leader meant be
should be treated better. He ruled
Women s Pay Persuasive Speech

Amy Adams even questioned the producers about the pay gap. She also exclaimed
that she got payed 2% less then men in American Hustle. For many years she has
been trying to fix the pay gap and resolve it and she is still trying to this day. It s

The Parking Space At Magnolia Medical Center

should fill some parts in their paper to negotiate Part (A Employee B Garage

what they would talk and find out how they could peruse the different side. My

after a reservation from a restaurant in the downtown. My case was that use the
parking space at Magnolia Medical Center because the restaurant is a few minutes

must pay fee with $30 that I should not pay any fee as an employee at Magnolia
Medical Center and the ideal would be to pay $0 even there were change in my
pocket or to pay less than $30. In my opinion, I was unsure in the beginning that if
I could negotiate with the garage manager because I used to be a calm person and
in this situation there were cars behind me, while I was talking with the garage
manager. However, each side tried to convince the other side based on its own
thoughts. 2.Emotions : Actually, I have enjoyed playing with my classmates, as my

The Pros And Cons Of Prescription Drugs
Carre Otis, American model and actress, once said, I grew up on antibiotics. Every
ailment sore throats, earaches, flus warranted a trip to the doctor and in most
cases some kind of prescription... In those days there was very little discussion
about any potential negative impact of this go to approach to cure physical
symptoms. Ailments were something to be immediately fixed with whatever
medicine the doctor assigned. Prescription drugs have caused a take a pill
mentality to be a major part of kid s and teen s minds as they grow up, as opposed
to letting things heals naturally. Any time a child experiences any sort of pain that
is not immediately external, like a bruise, headache, or sore muscle. The first thing
to be brought up is a pill. This immediately relates that pill to feeling better in this
child s mind. As a teen, taking prescription pills can be very common. Such as,
taking caffeine pills to stay awake, a pill to fall asleep easier, and many other cases
of younger people involving themselves in these activities. Because of this, teens are
growing more and more reliant on pills to be able to function in their minds. Younger
kids and teens find it easier to take prescription drugs because they have a friendly
connotation behind them. If a doctor supplies them, then how could they hurt me?
Firstly, as a child, you grow accustomed to trends happening. Santa visiting on
Christmas Eve, bedtime stories being read to you every night, going outside and

Benefits Of Peripheral Neuropathy
If your ability to work is affected by peripheral neuropathy, you may be eligible to
receive disability benefits as a result. Peripheral neuropathy is a result of damaged
message carrying nerves throughout parts of the body that are unable to deliver
information to the brain and spinal cord. A person s ability to perform in any given
work place can be greatly affected by this.
While there are a variety of medical conditions which go hand in hand with peripheral
neuropathy, diabetes is the most common. When nerves which transmit painand other
signals to the brain are damaged due to regularly high blood sugar levels, diabetic
neuropathy can occur.

Freud Essay. The Autobiography of Sigmund Freud by Sigmund Freud

  • 1. Freud Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of Freud is a challenging endeavor that demands a profound understanding of Freudian theories, extensive research, and the ability to critically analyze complex psychological concepts. Freud's ideas, spanning from the id, ego, and superego to his interpretations of dreams and the Oedipus complex, require careful examination and thoughtful articulation. The difficulty lies not only in comprehending Freud's intricate theories but also in presenting them coherently within the constraints of an essay. It necessitates delving into the historical context, exploring the evolution of Freudian thought, and connecting it to contemporary perspectives. Moreover, one must navigate the controversies surrounding Freud's work, acknowledging both his contributions and criticisms from various schools of thought. Constructing a Freud essay demands a balance between providing a comprehensive overview of his theories and delving into specific aspects with depth. It entails the challenge of presenting a nuanced analysis, considering the cultural and societal influences on Freud's work, while also recognizing the limitations and critiques that have emerged over time. In addition to these intellectual challenges, the writer must ensure clarity in expression, maintaining a cohesive narrative that guides the reader through the intricate web of Freudian concepts. Proper citation of sources and a thorough bibliography add an extra layer of complexity to the task. However, for those who find themselves grappling with the intricacies of a Freud essay, there is an alternative avenue. Expert assistance is available on platforms like HelpWriting.net, where you can access a range of essay writing services. From Freudian analysis to various other topics, such services offer tailored essays crafted by professionals, providing a valuable resource for those seeking well-researched and expertly written content. • 2. Kristine Le. Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 . The Diabetes Quebec Kristine Le Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 The Diabetes Quebec Association states that in the past, a diagnosis of diabetes meant certain death . This was held true until a Canadian physician, Frederick Banting, discovered the hormone insulin in 1921. He was able to isolate a unknown matter from the pancreas of a dog and inject it into another dogs pancreas s. This discovery enabled them to save the lives of these diabetic dogs. Through trial and error Banting was able to perfect the purification of insulin in order for it to be injected on a daily basis to compensate for the insulin not being produced by the pancreas to control the blood sugar in hyperglycemic patients. Diabetes mellitus is an inability of the body to catabolize glucose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This disease does not favor one gender over the other, it effects males and females equally. Currently, the origin of diabetes is a conundrum. Although, it is understood that the immune system attacks the beta cells but it is not clear how or why it occurs. It is hypothesized that T1D maybe hereditary and environmental factors contribute to the onset (5). Symptoms prevail in individuals whom have the majority of their beta cells destroyed via a cellular mediated autoimmune response (1). The insulin signaling cascade is initiated when insulin binds to insulin receptors located on the cell s surface. The insulin receptor has four subunits: two alpha subunits located on the outside of the cell and two transmembrane beta subunits (3 4). When insulin binds to the alpha subunit receptors, it transmits a signal across the plasma membrane and activates tyrosine residues that are attached to the beta subunits. The activation of the tyrosine residues causes it to autophosphorolate and then phosphorolate other proteins that also have tyrosine residues attached to them. These phosphorylated proteins then move on to trigger cellular responses such as translocation of GLUT4 vesicule to the cell membrane. The vesicule becomes a transporter to allow glucose to come into the cell so that it can continue on and be stored as glycogen (3). A beta cell specific autoimmune process is the beginning of the destruction of the beta cells that produce insulin.
  • 3. Emergency Management Essay CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION TO EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT This chapter provides an overview that describes the basic types of hazards threatening the United States and provides definitions for some basic terms such as hazards, emergencies, and disasters. The chapter also provides a brief history of emergency management in the federal government and a general description of the current emergency management system including the basic functions performed by local emergency managers. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the all hazards approach and its implications for local emergency management. Introduction There are many ways to describe emergency management and the importance of the tasks emergency managers perform. Indeed, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The natural environment is, of course, not getting its revenge . Geophysical, meteorological, and hydrologic processes are unfolding as they have for millennia, beginning long before humans occupied the earth and continuing to the present. Given the eons long perspective of the natural environment, it would be very difficult to identify meaningful changes in event frequency for the short time period in which scientific records are available on geological, meteorological, and hydrological phenomena. Event frequency, from an emergency management perspective, is not really the issue. It is certainly true that, over the years, more people have been affected by natural disasters and losses are becoming progressively greater. The significant feature driving these observations, however, is the extent of human encroachment into hazard prone areas. With increasing population density and changing land use patterns, more people are exposed to natural hazards and consequently our accumulated human and economic losses are increasing. Much of this exposure is a matter of choice. Sometimes people choose hazardous places, building houses on picturesque cliffs, on mountain slopes, in floodplains, near beautiful volcanoes, or along seismic faults. Sometimes people choose hazardous building materials that fail under extreme environmental stresses for example, unreinforced masonry construction in seismically active areas. Some exposure results from constrained choices; the cheap land or

(Campbell Davison, 2012), say that the unlawful business in human organs special kidneys has advanced quickly and unexpectedly. The reasons why selling kidneys has advanced quickly is that nowadays many countries have wars so there are many poor people who need money to live a good life. Also, after wars, there are many sick people that felt desperation because they lost their organs in the war and no one donated to them, so they needed to buy organs to stay alive. Other reason is because people have two kidneys so when they sell one kidney for important reasons, they won t die. She was 22 years old. She had an accident. She lost her kidney in the accident. She needed another kidney. In Kuwait, you can t buy an organ, so she waited for anyone to donate a kidney for her but no one did. She felt desperate. Her brother Khalid found a poor family that they want money to live a good life. He persuaded one person in this family to give Fatima a kidney for money. He accepted what Khalid wanted, and he went with Khalid to the doctors. They lied to the doctor by saying he wanted to donate to Fatima because he couldn t say she bought my kidney. Fatima is healthy now, and the poor family sent their children to study in schools because they now have money. That s why many sick people who feel despair buy organs. Some critics may argue, however, that it is the greed of the middleman which creates illegal trafficking of human organs. There is a great profit to be made by the middle man, so oftentimes the unscrupulous become organ traders. Researchers point out that trafficking will continue as long as there are huge profits to be made (Caplan Arp, 2013). For example,Randall Gross,2008) writes a story about trafficking human organs. The author wrote about an Egyptian man, his name is Saad Helmi. He is
  • 5. Stereotypes In Hollywood Movies Living in the United States as a person of color can prove to be difficult to immerse oneself into the Western media. Why? Because it can be confusing to go watch a movie, like Aloha (2015) and seeing a character named Allison Ng being portrayed by a Caucasian actress. The casting choice of Emma Stone to portray a character who is supposed to be of Chinese and Hawaii descent brings up the whitewashing controversy within Hollywood production. It is certainly not the first misrepresentation that Hollywood movies have committed against the Asian ethnic minority, but one of the many that can be traced back to as early as 1931. In the film, Charlie Chan Carries On (1931), Warner Oland was chosen to play as the movie s main Asian character Charlie... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If an Asian man is shown as an uneducated and savage character in a movie, the viewers of that movie would most likely form a negative perception towards those of Asian descent due to the movie s influence. Stereotypes are widely accepted, culturally shared beliefs describing personal traits and characteristics of groups of individuals. Media discourses help to define, share, and maintain racial stereotypes across societies over time, especially when interracial contact is limited. (Ramasubramanian) Yellow peril, arguably the oldest stereotypical representation of people of Asian descent in Western media. These portrayals of Asians through yellow peril in Western media paint them as threats who will take over the U.S culture and society. In The Mask of Fu Manchu (1932), the Chinese character Fu Manchu directs his army to exterminate the white man and take the white man s women. This imposes the basis of yellow peril and the fear of the white man s sexual anxiety as it reduces the Asian character into a savage being. In the late 19th century, Chinese people were depicted in mainstream newspapers and magazines as immoral, heathen, barbarian, disease ridden, brutal, corrupt, and uncivilized. (Kim

Present: Leanne Le Poidevin and William Golding Leanne Le Poidevin is interviewing William Golding about his book, Lord Of The Flies. Leanne: Good afternoon Mr. Golding. Mr Golding:Good afternoon to you. Leanne:As we all know, Lord of the flies is about lots of boys trapped on an island. What was the reason of putting just boys on the island? Why were there no girls? Mr Golding:At the time of the book, it was the war. Fighting and arguing was going on around us, and it seemed as though nobody was really sane anymore. It started off as being happy and positive, and ended up being complete madness. Women were at home, doing the housework, cooking food, you know? They didn t ... Mr Golding:At the age that the boys are, they are boisterous, very loud and they are basically trying to impress each other. Jack is known as the leader of the hunters, but it is obvious that he really doesn t have a clue about hunting. I purposely made him a choirboy because they are known to be girl like quiet pretty boys. When Jack tells the boys he will be the leader of the hunters, there is a sense of shock. I wanted it to be a surprise for the reader that such an innocent boy could be so sinister. He is so eager to gain some kind of authority over the group that he is willing to destroy his innocence and murder a creature. Leanne:You mentioned innocence there. What do you mean by that? Mr Golding:Well, a fifteen year old boy has a lot of innocence about him. By killing something, the young child is almost breaking the rules of what it has been brought up to believe in. When they witness blood that they have caused, their childhood is automatically broken. Leanne: I see. There is a lot of chaos running through the book. Why did you add this effect? Mr Golding: Young boys always want to be in charge. I imagined myself and a group of my friends, when we were younger of course, stranded on an island. We

Organelles are membrane bound subdivisions, each specialised for a specific function. This experiment looks at the Plasma Membrane, which is a semipermeable layer surrounding the cell. It s primary job is to control what goes in and out of the cell. Molecules can move across this membrane in either an active movement or a passive movement. The solutions of 2% and 10% both reached dynamic equilibrium as neither had lost nor gained water during the experiment, This indicates that the results may have been inconclusive because two, widely various solutions could not have both reached dynamic equilibrium with the potato cell. This leads to the idea that there were a few errors made while performing this experiment, which most likely had an effect on the results, causing them to be non reliable. Firstly, the test tubes had not been properly cleaned before the experiment took place. This caused a strange smell and a colouration of the potato tuber, it may also have increased or decreased the osmotic potential, though this cannot be known as it is not known what chemical residue may have been left in the test tubes. Secondly, the potato cells had been left in for three days instead of the recommended 24hrs. This mistake may have caused the soft, sogginess of the potato which rendered it difficult to pat dry and handle. During this part of the experiment, pieces of the cells were broken and lost down drains or stuck to the paper towel, as well as many still containing much excess water. Because of this, the weights measured could be inaccurate and therefor unreliable. Based on the data found by Clemson University Student Robert.
  • 9. Isabella as an Independent Female in Shakespeare s Measure... It seems rare in a Shakespearean play to find a female character to whom women in this new millennium can relate. Modern women are expected to be strong, independent, educated and intelligent, and in control of their own destinies. Women are also considered to be on equal footing with their male counterparts in regards to abilities, privileges, and rights. Although these ideals may not be completely realistic in the real world, in general, these are the ways in which a twenty first century woman is perceived. In the time period Shakespeare was writing in the abilities and roles expected of women were very different. She does not conform to one of the roles society deems appropriate for a female. She is a virgin but has no intention of marrying. She believes passionately in her faith and would not sacrifice her body for any sinful reason, meaning that she would never become a prostitute. As a virgin destined to remain so the rest of her life, Isabella falls outside of Angelo s understanding. Even before she takes the vows Isabella does not seem to have any strong male roles directing her life. Claudio is her only relation and she spends the duration of the play trying to rescue him rather than the other way around. Rather than rendering her vulnerable this lack of male dominance seems to suit Isabella quite well. She is intelligent and outspoken in her defence of her brother, boldly contradicting Angelo on several occasions. Angelo claims there is no remedy (2.2.49) to Claudio s sentence but Isabella does not accept this saying, Yes, I do think that you might pardon him (2.2.50). Just ten lines later she does this again, boldly questioning what he has told her instead of accepting Angelo s decree. Isabella even dares, in this same speech, to instruct Angelo in her beliefs about mercy as most becoming of a person in authority: Not the king s crown, nor the deputed sword, / The marshal s truncheon, nor the

They speed up reactions by providing an alternative reaction pathway of lower activation energy. Like all catalysts, enzymes take part in the reaction that is how they provide an alternative reaction pathway. But they do not undergo permanent changes and so remain unchanged at the end of the reaction. They can only alter the rate of reaction, not the position of the equilibrium. Enzymes are usually highly selective, catalyzing specific reactions only. This specificity is due to the shapes of the enzyme molecules. It was formed by William S. Harley and his childhood friend Arthur Davidson. In 1901, 20 year old William S. • 14. Authorial Voice In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men Often while reading a novel, we come to be so submersed in the story that we forget about authorial voice as the characters speak directly into our ears. There is definitely an art behind authorial voice because when that voice is too loud we become distracted but when it is too quiet we become bored. Authorial voice is especially interesting in this book as a result of the multiple perspectives through which the story is told. How does the point of view of the passage affect authorial voice? How is the style unique to the author? How do the different narrations affect authorial voice? How does the choppiness develop voice? How does the figurative speech affect our perception of Peter? What are the links between the memories and Peter s situation?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author uses various tools such as semicolons, incomplete sentences, and ellipses. Complete sentences interspersed within these marks actually serve to add to the uneven writing. The choppiness may portray rushing, being distressed, and being careless. Let us look to the first paragraph to analyze the style. The first sentence is incomplete because it lacks a subject. In this way, it seems as if Peter s mind is separate from his body. Perhaps his body is asleep but his mind is working. This sentence automatically sets the tone for the rest of the passage. If it were instead to say, I lay awake for several hours, we would lose the state of distress and not understand the emotion behind the reason for laying awake. The use of the word cataclysm is interesting since it implies an attempt to attract turmoil. Next a semicolon, a tool used to connect ideas, breaks up the wording even more. The phrase after the semicolon suddenly becomes complete. Despite this, there is no depth added in the form of a compound or complex sentence. Skipping a bit further we find the word sediciosos which requires the reader to pause and read a bit slower. First thoughts when analyzing this paragraph might be that the author is showing the thought processes of Peter in his agitated state. This is definitely a correct statement, but the choppiness also forces the reader to read differently. If all the sentences were incomplete,
  • 15. The Bible Is Full Of Wisdom And Folly The Bible is full of wisdom and folly. This essay will evaluate the concepts of diligent people in Hebrew wisdom being wise, while the lazy person is a fool. The major part of the essay will concentrate in Proverbs, but we will review some scriptures from Ecclesiastes. Proverbs was written by Solomon, and he wrote it out of concern for his children. Ecclesiastes is said to have been written by Solomon, but this is not certain. Both books can be used by all for guidance, regardless of their age. Proverbs in general concentrates on moral virtues, and the opposite, their vices. The main theme of the book is the fear of the Lord, as it is seen fourteen times in Proverbs. Ecclesiastes main theme is life without God is empty, pointlessness and without meaning. There are a lot of contrasting chapters and verses comparing the differences between being wise and foolish, the wicked and righteous and the lazy and hardworking. Both books mainly concentrate on the contrasts between evil and good and foolishness and wisdom. So, let s look at some verses and relate the concepts, describe and compare them to being diligent (wise) or laziness (foolish). In Proverbs 15:19 it says The way of a sluggard is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is a level highway (ESV). This saying corroborates the points of Proverbs concerning the directives that diligence is the way of the wise and the path with less resistance. But the path of laziness is foolishness and filled with trouble,

Dayton and Shoto (2006) present a case study regarding an educational leadership department at a major research university, faculty members have become disgruntled as a result of a declining organizational culture fueled by a lack of leadership from an insecure departmental chairman. The department itself had experienced a long standing positive history within the university, and was a cash cow due to the number of credit hours, tuition funding per faculty, and local and state service projects. Despite this background, the future of the facultywas uncertain, as their value to the university had diminished and changeswithin the university were occurring to which they were unresponsive. Coupled with these changes, great tension and conflicts within the department signaled to the faculty members that what had been was no more , that is, their world had changed and the positive experiences that they had come to enjoy was no longer being afforded them. Spain, France and the Moroccan Berbers, of the Rif s mountain region, had joined forces to take control and divide the country of Morocco into even parts. The reason behind this was because they wanted power, like most imperializing countries strive for. What the invading force did not know was that this was not going to be an easy task. The Rifs, the indigenous tribes of Morocco had joined forces to fight this super power using guerrilla warfare that devastated the Spanish and French forces. A registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has more training and experience than a licensed practical nurse and who has passed a special exam (Merriam Webster Dictionary). They provide patient care, educate patients and the public, and provide advice and support to patients and family members (Occupational Outlook Handbook What They Do www.bls.gov). Nursing is a very rewarding job. They help take care of sick or injured patients, making sure that they receive the best treatment. RNs can make a difference in a patient s life, and in some cases even save them. This profession is important because nurses hold the health of society in their hands, which keeps families and communities together. According to the National Women s History Museum women were born nurses. In a story, it s when a character discovers an awareness or knowledge that really changes their views on life. They start to see a new light as some would say. In the story of The Lady with the Dog, there are four parts, and each of the four parts of the story involves an epiphany of some sort, one way or another. Part I is really the start of it all, where we discover Dmitri Gurav s honest opinion of women, and it is not a good one. He thinks all women are pretty dumb, and even cheats on his own wifeall the time. He talks about her in a degrading way often. She read a great deal, used phonetic spelling, called him husband, not Dmitri, but Dimitri, and he secretly considered her unintelligent, narrow, inelegant, was afraid of her, and did not like to be home (Chekhov 291) He even refers to women in general as The Lower Race. He was a full fledged misogynist and sexist, who like to play woman as a game. After meeting Anna Sergeyeyna, his opinion started to change just a little bit. After their first couple of meetings, Gurav had his first epiphany. He realized that Anna was different. She was actually intelligent, and she wasn t as easy and naГЇve as all of the other girls that he had achieved as conquests. He had actually met a woman that he could stand to be around for a while, which would cause him to have to think about his moral views of life

During this period of time the foundations of modern electrically based technologies were discovered. These debates lead to the invention of the battery by Volta, and the invention of Volta s. Volta s discoveries would lead the way for Ohm s law several years later. Galvani stated that the electricity observed in the frogs was intrinsic the nerves of the frog. Galvani used multiple different metals combinations to demonstrate the electric phenomenon. He would further demonstrate that metals were seemingly unneeded. He did this by manipulating the nerves and muscles of the frogs in such way that caused the same twitch, as when a metal object was brought near. The publication of his research in 1791 would peak the interest of Alessandro Volta. Volta was convinced that Galvani s animal electricity was not the result of the animal tissues, but the metals within those tissues. In an effort to prove this Volta invented the battery . Volta s battery was built out of alternating zinc and copper disks with cloth (or a similar medium) soaked in salt water [10]. Volta stated the following regarding the nature of electricity with respect to Galvani s animal electricity: Herein lies the whole secret, the whole magic of Galvanism. It is simply an artificial electricity, which acts under the impulse of contacts between different conductors [9]. At this point Volta s theory of electricity by contact was fully accepted. There was a very large gap between the middle class and the lower class. Industrialisation changed the class structure dramatically in the late 18th century. Hostility was created between the upper and lower classes. As a result of industrialisation, there was a huge boost of the middle and working class. The image of the nineteenth century as a period of great opportunity for men of energy and skill is one that has been long established. In the past, historians have argued that an industrious middle class made great fortunes in the early days of the industrial revolution and converted economic success into political power in the 1832 Reform Act. This political power was then used to ensure policy reflected the middle class interests. Such arguments present the middle class as a coherent body mobilising their economic and political power to forge society in their image. Challenging landed privilege and aristocratic corruption, this industrial and urban middle class can be seen as striving to establish a society based on merit rather than on one s birth. The man had moved off up the road to sit in the dark and smoke out of range of the noise she made. (92) This is sexism because they left the women to care for the Indian woman that was having a baby. They think it is for women to care for her and did not help at all. Instead they tried to go far away so they didn t even have to listen to her pain. Also sexism is in the article Forget the Legend and Read the Work by Margaret Bauer. Therefore not only do I not dispute the opinion that the woman in labor is a mere prop in Indian Camp, but also I defend Hemingway s using her as a vehicle toward Nick s potential development and a means of revealing Nick s fathers callousness. Discussing the issue that women in much of Hemingway s work are not very important of and by themselves (Bauer 2). In the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife, sexism is portrayed by Hemingway when he describes the interaction between the wife and the doctor. He leaves her without answering her questions and goes off to hunt with his son. Hemingway can be determined as a sexist by the way he portrays the women in his stories as weak and inferior to men. Some people believe that sexism was part of Hemingway s life because he was married 4 times and had many mistresses and because of this and the way that he writes he is viewed as a sexist. An example of masculinity versus femininity in the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife is shown when the doctor is cleaning his shot gun and the wife says you didn t say anything to anger him did you? and the doctor replies no . This implies that the wife is weak because she does not want a confrontation. Nick chooses to go with his father because he wants to be seen as a man and like his father. Country B will choose to produce that product and then trade it with country A. When a country focuses on a good that it is efficient in producing for a lower price then they increase national income and company s increase profits. An example of comparative advantage: Country A can produce 28 bikes and 4 radios, Country B can produce 32 bikes and 12 radios. Country B has an absolute advantage in both products but it has a comparative advantage specifically in radios because it can efficiently produce 3 times more for less than Country A (Economics Online, 2017.) Both theories have the positive effect of making economies that trade grow. Trade makes a price range below the local price possible. Furthermore, the exporting country can produce more and the importing country can use its resources on other products in which it is better at producing. However, because trade prices of foreign goods are lower local goods will experience lower demand. This is one of the reasons for a trade restriction the government of a country will help maintain local businesses. Factor Proportion theory was originally created by two Swedish economists. • 46. The Main Reasons For Government And Privatize Their Airports Week 1: Identify and discuss the main reasons for a government to privatize their airports. In basic terms Privatisation is essentially the shift of assets from the public or government owned sector to the private sector, an important point to note is that privatisation doesn t always refer to ownership, but can also refer only to the management of an organisation. The advantages of privatisation include greater efficiency and fewer limitations involved in government spending allowances. Up until the 1990 s privatisation of airports was mainly within the general aviation, municipal type airfields. Airports were gradually considered as commercial enterprises , and as such commercialisation began to take place. Supporters of privatisation argue that it will reduce the need for public investment and give greater access to commercial markets. By doing this they are limiting government control, which may be a benefit in itself as there will be more space for diversification. With a wide share of ownership there can be far greater input from a range of sources. In a sense the government will still benefit from privatisation, as even though they may have less control overall, they will still benefit from the global market and from government associated taxes and levies not just on the airports movements but also taxing of the airport company itself. Conversely on the side of doubt, there is concern that privatisation may create a monopoly that could potentially be over

Jack wanted to be above everybody, so he tried to convince everyone to let him be chief. He wanted to have power and authority. We ll hunt. I m going to be chief. This is yet another quote that shows how Jack was stubborn about how he believed he deserved to be chief. He did not bother to ask the others about their opinion on who should be in charge. Instead he just appointed himself. His tone conveyed a warning, given out of the pride of ownership, and the boys ate fast while there was still time. This quote shows how Jack was obsessed with the power of being chief. Jack scared the other boys into respecting him as a leader. Jack shows pride in these quotes, because he shows that he believes he should be chief, because he is superior to everybody. All of the other boys chose Ralph as their leader, so Jack creates conflict by challenging Ralph as chief. Jack trying to usurp Ralph as chief shows how he was putting his needs before those of the entire group. Jack was too prideful to allow Ralph to be in charge, and constantly challenged him as a leader. This conflict gets in the way of the boys being able to work together to try to survive and get rescued. Jack shows pride by talking to his peers as if he is above them. You re talking too much. Shut up, Fatty. This quote was spoken by Jack to Piggy. This quote shows how Jack believed he had more of a right to speak than Piggy. He intended to put down Piggy to get Piggy to submit to him.
