1. Creationism Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of creationism can be a challenging endeavor, as it requires
navigating through complex and controversial themes that often elicit strong emotions and
differing perspectives. This subject touches upon deeply rooted beliefs, bringing together
elements of science, religion, and philosophy, making it a multifaceted and intricate topic to
explore.
One of the primary difficulties lies in striking a balance between presenting factual information
and respecting diverse viewpoints. The debate between creationism and evolution has been a
long-standing one, with proponents of each side passionately defending their positions. To
construct a well-rounded essay, it is crucial to delve into the scientific, religious, and cultural
aspects surrounding the concept of creationism.
Additionally, researching and understanding the historical context and development of
creationist beliefs is vital. This involves exploring the roots of creationism in different religious
traditions and its evolution over time. Addressing counterarguments and potential criticisms of
creationist ideas adds another layer of complexity to the writing process, demanding a
comprehensive and nuanced approach.
Moreover, organizing the essay in a coherent manner can be challenging due to the diverse
nature of the topic. Balancing the exploration of scientific evidence, theological perspectives, and
societal implications requires careful planning and a clear structure. Transitioning between
different aspects of the debate without losing the overall thread of the argument is crucial for
maintaining the essay's clarity and impact.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on creationism demands a thorough understanding of scientific,
religious, and cultural dimensions. The challenge lies not only in presenting well-researched
information but also in navigating the intricacies of a topic that sparks profound ideological
discussions. Successful completion of such an essay requires dedication, critical thinking, and
the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.

2. Explain Why Sonic Drive In Is A Fast Food Restaurant
Sonic Review
Sonic drive in is a fast food restaurant with a variety of menu options. It consists of
a drive thru, and a variety of drive in stalls it has the option of calling in, to place an
order. During summer and spring it s open from 7am to 12am and during winter
and fall it is open from 7am to 11pm.. Anybody can eat at Sonic if you are hungry for
some fast food. Sonic originated in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was ranked 10th
in the QSR Magazine ranking the top 50 quick service and fast food restaurants in the
nation. Sonic is an exceptional fast food restaurant with a wide variety of different
foods and drinks, although there could be a reduced wait time, a cleaner environment,
and better attitudes from employees towards their customers. ... Show more content

There are plenty of ways to reduce wait time its just the way people manage it. One
way I can suggest to reduce wait time would be to bring back roller skates. If you
ever go to sonic to eat you will see that skates aren t used to take out orders. Skating
is proven to be faster than walking as long as you know how to skate but even if
you don t know how to skate there should be some kind of training to teach you
how to skate. Another way to reduce wait time would be to eliminate bad
employees. You can t expect to reduce wait time if you have lazy employees, you
need people who want to improve in their work area. For example, I work at sonic
and I have witnessed lazy employees in the present and past, and they bring up our
times which make us look bad. Eliminating bad employees could solve a lot of
problems with reducing wait time. Why should somebody be getting paid for doing
nothing? Well I don t agree that they should, therefore if we can avoid hiring them in
the first place we wouldn t have to go out of our way trying to eliminate
3. Cronon New England Summary
Just like many other things and situations, Cronon studies the ecological changes in
New England through the meeting of the Indians and European settlers and their
relationship to the enviroment. As for Cronon, it is a story of the victory of capatilist
commoification of nature. As to the European settlement, Indians had interacted with
the land in a way that minimized their impact. Indians were marked by greater
mobility, changing their location of living depending on the season; from agriculture
to hunting. Like the golden age of Indians living in harmony with nature, their
relationship was one in which they changed the landscape but done in a way that
was less of any cause of damage as in using fire to clear

Abstract:
Major depression disorder is a wide and complex disorder than many Americans
suffer from. This paper will review the research and material of major depression
disorder and the effective treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy. Although there
are several types of therapy available to treat depression and other mood disorders,
CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) has been one of the most widely used and
thought to be very effective in treating the disorder. First the paper will review what

Either way once a person feels there is no way out of a certain situation or starts to
feel hopeless they would be suffering from MDD. One theory that has come about in
relation to stress and depression is Martin Steligman s learned helplessness theory of
depression which is a theory that states people become anxious and depressed when
they make an attribution that they have no control over the stress in their lives
(Barlow and Durland, 2009). Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is one of the most
prevalent treatments used with clients suffering from MDD, although this is
sometimes combined with medication for better treatment results. CBT is derived
from Aaron Beck s cognitive approach to treating depressed individuals, the model
suggest that depression develops when individuals develop negative thoughts about
themselves, world, and future (Para, 2008). Negative schemas or thought process can
occur early in life in the events of stressful life experiences; these thought patterns are
then revealed later in life during certain situations. CBT s goals are to reduce the
automatic negative thoughts and actions when experiencing stressful life situations.
In CBT clients are taught to examine carefully their thought processes while they are
depressed and taught to recognize depressive errors in thinking (Barlow and Durand,
2009). Between sessions clients are instructed to monitor and log their thought
5. Freud s Theory Of The Oedipus Complex By Sigmund
Freud
INTRODUCTION
Oedipus Complex
The Oedipus complex otherwise called mother fixation is a mental inclination of a
man. This term is used by Sigmund Freud as a part of his hypothesis of
Psychosexual Stages of Development to depict a kid s emotions of yearning for
his mother and jealousy and outrage towards his father. Basically, a kid feels like
he is in rivalry with his father for possession of his mother. He sees his father as a
rival for her considerations and affections.
Greek Mythology
Oedipus King is about the story of Oedipus who murders his father and weds his
mother, which is the prototype of the Oedipus complex in Psychology. The
protagonist or the hero of the tragedy is the child of King Laius and Queen Jocasta
of Thebes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lawrence portrays Mrs Morel s turning to her children particularly to Paul as an
exceptionally unpredictable and uncommon procedure. Lawrence alongside
portraying the unpredictable and abnormal connection also finds numerous unusual
factors behind this bizarre connection. Among all the factors, the most well known
one is Mrs. Morel s moving her fascination or desire from spouse to child which
was the result of the bizarre relation or mismatch between her spouse in regards to
character, family status, training, keenness and so on. While she is an exceedingly
religious lady, her spouse is hard lush, her refined way additionally negates with his
profanity. The marriage life of Mrs. Morel is actually loaded with clashes and
disappointments. Their marriage life has been one carnal bloody fight. (Lawrence,
D.H. 1985) Along with the mental tormenting Mr. Morel also frequently beats her
seriously and puts her out of home. The mother is unsatisfied and angry with the coal
miner, because he not only fails to live up to her bourgeois idea, but also hurts her in
body and mind (Lawrence, D.H. 1985). All these stinging and anguishing certainties
ultimately make her substitute or to move enthusiastically towards her child to
discover a bit fulfillment into the world

My connections look at how certain choices can affect your life forever. The texts
that I used to convey this link were The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, Slumdog
Millionaire directed by Danny Boyle, The Shawshank Redemption directed by Frank
Darabont and a poem by Robert Frost called The Road Not Taken. Throughout the
texts used we learn that you cannot always see the outcome of a particular choice
unless you choose to go down that path. An important decision is made by the main
character(s) in each text and they suggest that not all choices are easy to make and
can have positive and negative consequences.

preferred choice. He took the one that was less preferred as he says, In leaves no
step had trodden black, which makes the reader think that no one had set foot down
this road and that this choice is occasionally chosen by others so, Frost is indeed
challenging the norm . He develops the idea of wanting to be different by preceding
normality which is influenced by the want for independence. Throughout the stated
texts we are shown that certain choices can be influenced by things like your own
values, our surroundings and emotions. We learn that some influences can be strong
enough to create conflict between family members when a particular choice is made.
We also learn that people can make regrettable decisions due to their own, sometimes
personal, desires.
Poor life choices can have long term negative or positive consequences
With any kind of decision or choice an outcome is definite, whether it be a positive
or negative one it cannot be foreseen. Throughout the texts I studied, negative
consequences resulted from poor life choices in some texts. The character Amir, of
The Kite Runner, makes the awful decision to do nothing while his childhood
friend, also his brother, is raped in front of him. I could step into that alley, stand up

Study
ADVERTISING AND CHILDREN S MATERIALISTIC ORIENTATIONS
2
Abstract Previous studies have suggested that advertising exposure affects
materialistic orientations among youth. However, this causal effect has not been
investigated among 8 to 11 year olds, who are in the midst of consumer development.
Furthermore, the mechanisms underlying this relation have not been studied. In
order to fill these lacunae, this study focused on the longitudinal relation between
children s advertising exposure and materialism. We investigated two possible
mediators: advertised product ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As advertising usually portrays the message that material possessions bring
fulfillment, happiness, and success, an increase in the perceived reality of
advertising can cause an increase in general materialism (Chaplin John, 2007;
Goldberg, Gorn, Peracchio, Bamossy, 2003). In sum, this study contributes to the
existing literature on youth s advertising exposure and materialism in three ways:
(1) it is based on longitudinal rather than cross sectional data, (2) it focuses on
children from an age group (8 to 11 year olds) that until now has received little
attention in materialism research, and (3) it deals with both direct and mediated
effects of children s advertising exposure on materialism. Direct Effect of
Advertising Exposure on Materialism Several correlational studies have shown that
children s advertising exposure and materialism are positively related (Atkin,
1975a; Atkin, 1975b; Buijzen Valkenburg, 2003b; Moschis Churchill, 1978;
Moschis Moore, 1982; Schor, 2005; Ward Wackman, 1971). Because of their use of
cross sectional data, though, most scholars can only theorize about the causal
direction of the relation between children s advertising exposure and materialism
(Buijzen Valkenburg, 2003a). On the one hand children s advertising exposure is
plausible to precede materialism, because it is advertising s aim to evoke an
increased need for products (Buijzen Valkenburg, 2003a; 2003b). Up until now, two

Rosa Parks faced many challenges in her life, but she had many traits that allowed
her to withstand the unfairness. She had many characteristics, one of them is
courtesy. Also, she always stays strong no matter what even when she could just

traits allowed her to stand up to racism. First, one of Rosa s traits is courtesy she

took her purse to the squad car, she kept her composure when she should have been

10. Ezra Pound And Modernist Poetry
The following poems share a similar theme: Ezra Pound s A Few Don ts, Wallace
Stevens Of Modern Poetry, Archibald Macleish s Ars Poetica, and Marianne Moore s
Poetry. Each of these authors felt they had discovered superlative methods to write
the most powerful poetry. However, the details and methods which each author used
varied from one another. Born in 1885, Ezra poundis known as one of Modernist
poetrys biggest contributors. His poetry of the early 20th century was
unconventional and controversial for its time. He studied endlessly to understand
every facet of poetry and pave his own way in the field. He pioneered the imagist
movement and developed rubrics which imagist poems were to follow. In A Few

His poetry is experimental and was influenced by the works of numerous
modernist poets. As he aged, his poems developed to be more traditional. Many of
his works in the 1930 s analyzed social and political issues that plagued the world
during this period. Ars Poetica challenges how one interprets their own reality, and
his own guidelines to powerful poetry. He uses strong, apt images to convey his
points. MacLeish believes a poem should be worldess As the flight of birds
(MacLeish 789). This poem is much more abstract than the other two, but shares
the same theme of trying to connect to the reader and illicit strong feelings.
MacLeish believes that A poem should not mean But be (MacLeish 790). A poem
should speak for itself and use strong images for the reader to ponder. This leaves
the poem more open to interpretation and discussion. Marianne Moore was born in
Missouri in 1887. She was a modernist poet; however, the subjects which she chose
to write about differed from the average modernist. Most modernist poetry during this
time was centered around the state of modern civilization. Moore chose to center her
poetry around animals, nature, and poetry itself. Her poem Poetry starts off
somewhat perplexing when she states I, too, dislike it: there are things that are
important beyond all this fiddle (Moore 791). This is demonstrating irony, because

Introduction
Since Singapore gained its independence in 1965, its economy had progressed due
to globalization, rapid technological advances and the rise of China and India. With
these different stages of development, Singapore s labor market had adapted itself by
transforming from a labor abundant and capital limited city into a labor deficient and
capital rich country (Chia 2005). Singapore is now a popular export manufacturing
base, regional headquarter for foreign multinational company and a financial centre
(Chia 2005). The industrial structure has also progressed from a labor intensive
export manufacturing to a capital and technology intensive manufacturing, which

With the demand for more educated workers, it in turn encouraged the returns to
higher levels of education, resulting an increase in the return to university education
in 2004 as compared to 2001 (Yeo et al. 2007). Therefore the labor structure in
Singapore had evolved into one having a more skilled and multi lingual workforce as
compared to the past.
Aging Population
Singapore has one of the fastest aging populations due to the lack of babies, this
consequently led to the slow down in the growth of Singapore s labor force.
Recent research had also found that Singaporean life expectancy had increase from
61 years old in 1957 to today average life expectancy of 80 years old. In order to
ensure that these senior citizens have enough savings for their old age, the
government in Singapore had encouraged them to stay employed and work longer
(Sprinter 2007). To achieve this, the government planed to legislate re
employment for older workers to work beyond 62 to 67 (Sprinter 2007). With the
support from WDA in helping companies to redesign jobs and give training for
older workers, actions by Tripartite Committee in recommending Employability of
Older Workers and nevertheless the upcoming legislation and incentives provided
by the government, we will be expecting to see more older workers in the workforce
as compare to the past. The result of these efforts had been publicized by NTUC
(2007), which shows that the

Music has been widely popular throughout America since the nation s creation, but
ever since the 1920 s, it has become a daily part of our culture. Over the decades,
new genres have been created, each as equally popular. Some examples would be
jazz, blues, many kinds of rock, surf music, folk, soul, country, funk, disco, electronic,
and hip hop. Without music, today s world would be very different. That s why it s
safe to say that music has heavily influenced American society over the years. The
beginning of popular music started with Jazzin the city of New Orleans. Around the
year of 1900, many of the brothels in the district of Storyville, located in New
Orleans, were employing low income African American musicians to play their music,

The leaders of this genre were all white teenagers from poor southern backgrounds.
The most iconic artist of Rockabilly was Elvis Presley who moved from house to
house, several times throughout his childhood. Other famous Rockabilly artists
included Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, and Jerry Lee Lewis. They all
grew up poor and managed to combine the two most popular forms of southern
music, blues and country. In 1953, Sun Records, a declining R B record label,
ended up finding Elvis Presley who instantly became a star due to the fact that he
was the first white man who perfected singing the R B genre. He soon gained a
massive fanbase of teenage girls who tore apart his clothes after every concert.
Even most African American teens loved him. One of the reasons teenage girls
loved him so much was because of his famous hip and leg shaking. In 1956, Jerry
Lee Lewis, nicknamed The Killer , joined Sun Records where he combined R B
with country on piano. At first he wasn t very successful, but then he appeared on
The Steve Allen Show on July 28, 1957 where he ended up kicking the piano stool
into the audience while shaking his hair and banging on the keys like a madman.
After that, he ended up topping the charts with Great Balls of Fire . Carl Perkins,
whose music was very similar to Elvis , was possibly the greatest Rockabilly
guitarist of the time. Known for his hit, Blue Suede Shoes , he almost became as
famous as Elvis. Though this all changed when he got into a car accident on March
22, 1956 where he broke his collarbone, thus putting his career on hold. After this,
Elvis recorded a popular version of Blue Suede Shoes and Perkins seemed to fade
away, being more known for his songwriting than for his performing. The fourth Sun
Records Rockabilly star was Johnny Cash, who served in the U.S. Air Force. Even

Elizabeth and Susan organized the National Women SuffrageAssociation and worked

Susan decided to register and cast a ballot to protest for women s rights. She was

In the law of Moses, the scapegoat bore the burden of the sins of the people. What

meanings. The most common is one that bears the blame for others. That person
may or may not be guilty of . The original meaning was a goat was present upon
whose head are symbolically placed the sins of the people after which the goat is
sent into the wilderness in the biblical ceremony for Yom Kippur (the Day of

wilderness to be gone forever from the people. That much is in the actual Law of
Moses, as understood by those who performed the ceremony. The Christian
interpretation of the scapegoat has seemed obviously that the scapegoat bore all the
sins of Israel and so did Christ who outdated the laws of mosses in our time. The bible
make it clear that Christ suffered for our sins and paid for them in full. That is the
whole point of the Atonement, and that is a core belief of true Christians. And
even if He is a goat in this case, the other goat of this pair seems like a much better
candidate. After all, he was the one chosen to be for Jehovah , and he was
sacrificed to atone for the sins of mankind, as was Christ. If the scapegoat represents
Christ who bore all of our sins, then what was the point of the other goat which was
sacrificed to pay for them? Most commentators conclude that both goats represent
Christ, but have no compelling explanation for the difference between them. The
good example of scapegoat is between Barabbas and Jesus. Jesus and Barabbas were
judged by Pilate, who found no guilt in him. There was a tradition of releasing one
prisoner at Passover. So the governor asked crowd to chosen whom to release
among the prisoners, and the they Barabbas to be free. The governors had no
answer, but persecute Jesus, and released Barabbas who was the real criminal (Mat.
19. Domestic Violence Program Analysis
There are many programs to help people in need against violence, assault, abuse,
and delinquency. Each program is design to help people with these issues and how
to overcome them. There are many similarities and difference that each program has.
Each has its own intervention method used to help people in the different programs.
Some programs are very effective in helping people with their issues while other
programs are not because of many reasons. All the programs have one thing in
common and that is to help people who are going through violence, assault, abuse,
and delinquency find help that he or she needs to get out of the situation he or she is

Those programs that are tailored to juvenile delinquency provide a structure
support system for juveniles to successful adults. A notable program that has
effectiveness in juvenile delinquency is the Court Appointed Friend and Advocate
(CAFA) program, which is located in Santa Clara, California (Judicial Council of
California, 2017). This program allows the juvenile courts system in its
jurisdiction to appoint a juvenile advocate to sponsor a juvenile in their journey to
be a successful and contributing member of the community. When a juvenile is
required to report to a court hearing for a juvenile delinquent related offense, the
judge may offer the juvenile a deferred entry of judgement (DEJ) and order the
juvenile to participate in the CAFA program. The court will also assign a juvenile
advocate, who is also an officer of the court, to the juvenile s case. The juvenile
advocate has the authority to access all related information to the juvenile
including court record, school records, medical records, and probation files
(Superior Courts of California, 2014). The juvenile advocate is act as agent,
mentor, and friend for the juvenile. Their primary goal is to understand the juvenile
and provide direction that will be acceptable for the courts and provide a positive
road for the juvenile to follow (Judicial Council of California, 2017). Their other

20. The Psychological Characteristics Of Breast Cancer
It has long been known that certain physical characteristics are biologically
determined by genetic inheritance. Color of eyes, straight or curly hair, pigmentation
of the skin and certain diseases (such as Huntingdon s chorea) are all a function of
the genes we inherit. Other physical characteristics, if not determined, appear to be at
least strongly influenced by the genetic make up of our biological parents.
Height, weight, hair loss (in men), life expectancy and vulnerability to specific
illnesses (e.g. breast cancer in women) are positively correlated between genetically
related individuals. These facts have led many to speculate as to whether
psychological characteristics such as behavioral tendencies, personality attributes and

However nativists also argue that maturation governs the emergence of attachment in
infancy, language acquisition and even cognitive development as a whole.
At the other end of the spectrum are the environmentalists also known as empiricists
(not to be confused with the other empirical / scientific approach). Their basic
assumption is that at birth the human mind is a tabula rasa (a blank slate) and that this
is gradually filled as a result of experience (e.g. behaviorism).
From this point of view psychological characteristics and behavioral differences that
emerge through infancy and childhood are the result of learning. It is how you are
brought up (nurture) that governs the psychologically significant aspects of child
development and the concept of maturation applies only to the biological.
For example, when an infant forms an attachment it is responding to the love and
attention it has received, language comes from imitating the speech of others and
cognitive development depends on the degree of stimulation in the environment and,
more broadly, on the civilization within which the child is reared.
Examples of an extreme nature positions in psychology include Bowlby s (1969)
theory of attachment, which views the bond between mother and child as being an
innate process that ensures survival. Likewise, Chomsky (1965) proposed language is
gained through the use of

Answer 1
The chemical that will be analyzed in this section is potassium nitrate. There are
different types of information related to the chemical the student needs to gather to
ensure proper air sampling is carried out. It is necessary to determine the fire
properties of this chemical and the level of damage it might cause when left in the
open. Significantly, the assessment must find out about other processes that affect the
usage of potassium nitrate in different environments within the organization
(McDermott, 2004). This knowledge will enable the worker to recognize how
various control measures can be used to deal with various hazards associated with the
chemical that might cause harm to different people. Therefore, evaluating the real
magnitude of different dangers involved will enable all those involved to come up
with appropriate methods that limit workers exposure to the hazards.
It is important for the student to determine how the risk of fire and explosion after
exposure to potassium nitrate can be dealt with. In effect, this knowledge will equip
the student with skills to deal with the dispersal effects of potassium nitrate dust at the
workplace when it occurs. More importantly, it is vital for the analysis to determine if
the dust has harmful effects to the respiratory system when inhaled and the levels of
protection an organization can initiate to prevent

Is this a physical or a chemical change? Explain. This is a chemical change because
a new color is created and it is exciting the electrons. Burning is a chemical reaction
because there is a new substance being created. There is also a color change and
that is another way to tell that it was a chemical reaction. A new substance was

American Literature 2328

Realism is the portrayal of the reality of everyday life and period of literature between
1850 1900. Realist fictions speculate myths, assumptions, social norms,
sentimentality, collective wisdom, and prejudices. Realism stories are usually about
the middle class people, and it aims to show a truthful portrayal of truth. Regionalism
is a class of realist literature distinguished by closeness to the habits, language,
dialects, manners, history, traditions, beliefs of a particular geographical region.
Regionalism manifests the characters of both realism and romanticism. Romanticism
is cultural the period from 1830 1860 in America. Humankind is naturally good. The
characteristics of romanticism are passion and emotion, nature over the man,
spiritual, intuition, and insight. A White Heron, by Sarah Orne Jewett, is an example
of local color because of its realism. Jewett uses characteristics of regionalism like
dialogue to show the contrast between the locals and outsiders, habits, their daily
activities, the dress, features of a place. Editha by William is the story of realism
which has many characteristics of realism like details about war; he uses dialect to
hold out the trend of the story, using middle class peoples character. Dean Howell
uses a part of romantic style but all together its categorized as one of the
24. Democracy Has Been Claimed As An Example Of Realism...
Marcus Aurelius once said, Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything
we see is a perspective, not the truth. Literature begs to give us a representation of
truth but only real life succeeds in showing the actual truth. One literary movement,
realism, began out of the world s quest for truth and reality in a time of confusion and
rebuilding. Henry Adams novelDemocracy has been claimed as an example of
realism literature; one can explore this claim through the lens of one particular
passage: In short, the artist is compelled to exhibit the world rather as we would
wish it to be, than as it was, or is, or, indeed, is like shortly to become (161). This
historical novel addresses the United States attempt at reconstruction following the
country s civil war, in which it wrestles with questions of progress, reality, and
reconciliation with the past. The novel has been categorized as a realism narrative
but through close analysis it can be determined that this story of conflict does not fall
under the criteria of realism literature.
Realism is a literary movement that spans from 1860 up until to around 1890. This
type of literature is a reaction from society no longer agreeing with the Romantic
mindset of idealism. The days had passed of wishful, idealized, and fantastical
versions of the how the masses viewed the world. Realism is an effort to represent
reality, document experience that is based in the here and now, with a focus on
characters rather

the central nervous system is surrounded by connective tissue membranes, called
meninges and by cerebrospinal fluid.
The brain is divided into the cerebrum, diencephalon, brain stem and cerebellum.
The largest portion of the brain is the cerebrum which is divided into two cerebral
hemispheres. The two hemispheres are two separate entities.
The diencephalon is centrally located and is nearly surrounded by the cerebral

consists of two oval masses of grey matter that serve as relay stations for sensory
impulses, except for the sense of smell, going to the cerebral cortex.
The cerebellum is the second largest portion of the brain. Three bundles of

Georg Simmel and George Herbert Mead are famously influential sociologists who
made significant contributions to the exploration of society, the construction and
established theories of society and the way individual people act within a society.
Both of the sociologists were interested in the way that people create the society and
the laws used to govern from within. Despite the similarity of the subject studied, the
scientist took very different approaches in their research and beliefs. I ve even heard
of them referenced as the ying and yang of sociology. Mead is considered the

The nature of I is entirely socially, its main characteristic is the ability to become an
object for oneself, hence, the ability to self consciousness, which distinguishes it
from inanimate objects and living bodies (p. 378). The features of the behavior and
the establishment of the group, a specific socio cultural system, a certain society,
according to Mead are the concepts of generalized other. Elements of the generalized

The paragmatic standpoints of the sociologist are different. Simmel s vision is
detacher from the particular individuals and in concentrated on the group as the
analysis item. Group, according to Simmel, is an entity that has an independent
reality, exists according to its own laws and is independent of the individual
agents. A group, just as an individual, has a tendency to self preservation due to a
special vitality, the basis and process of which Simmel studies. Mead, in his turn,
seeks to solve the problem of the individual self and consciousness about world and
society. The key concept in his research is the concept of action, active activity (and
not just a passive reaction according to the stimulus response scheme as in classical
behaviorists). Both of them mind action as the part of the social life, however,

The objective of this project is to investigate and determine compatible naturally
based elements that can potentially replace and be integrated into the bone tissue, for
medical purposes. These elements should be similar in characteristic and structure of
the bone tissue, so that they can effectively replace the tissue and help stimulate bone
growth and cellular growth, in order to maintain bone homeostasis. In order to
achieve compatibility, factors such as 3 D polymeric structures within bone
scaffolding, cellular composition and many other aspects should be considered within
all these plausible elements.
After finding potential candidates for replacements of bone tissue, each element will
be organized based on their compatibility and traits that make them suited for
implementation. Based on the comparison of materials, we found that the bamboo
was the most suitable candidate for the implementation based on it s biocompatibility
potential, biodegradability potential and mechanical integrity.

The Theme of Carpe Diem in Robert Herrick s To the Virgins to Make Much of Time
Robert Herrick s poem, To the Virgins to Make Much of Time, focuses on the idea of
carpe diem. More specifically, in this poem the idea of marriage while love and flesh
are still young should be heeded or one may suffer in their later years alone and
loveless. Herrick suggests that this gift of virginity might be a great waste if not
given while it is still desirable. Virginity is a gift for the simple reason that it can
only be given once to the taker of the prize, which he believes should be the husband.
Therefore, he says to go out and find husbands, for youth is not perpetual and will
eventually succumb to old age and loneliness. Through Herrick s ... Show more

As the glorious Lamp of Heaven, the sun, is rising and is reaching it s peak. The
sun is pictured as a marathon runner in line 7 with, The sooner will his Race be run.
And as with all good things in life there must be an end. The sun will then set and the
youthfulness of the virgins will fade. The choice of words that Herrick uses in the
second stanza such as getting, sooner, and neerer create a mood of urgency which
also leads to a degree of anxiety. Time is moving on in every aspect of nature and
beyond, and the virgins must come to realize that they must harness the same
momentum and move into the next levels of their lives marriage (Rollin 83).
Consistent with the idea of time being unconquerable, the third stanza agrees that
youth should be made advantage of but not to be taken for granted. Herrick simply
states, That Age is best, which is the first, When youth and blood are warmer. Youth
carries its own certain attractable energy that is possibly irresistible. Yet, Herrick
does not want the virgins to be deceived in believing that youth will last forever.
Time is personified once again as an opposition to youthfulness. In one foul swoop
time overcomes youth.
The final and fourth stanza is the most direct and powerful. The young women in
which the poem addresses are told not to be coy. For their receptivity to love is under
their control
32. Aristotle s Meditation
Transubstantiation
On the night of Jesus s betrayal he sat down at the table with the twelve apostles to
celebrate Passover in remembrance of the Israelites being freed from slavery in Egypt.
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it
to his disciples said, Take and eat; this is my body. Then he took a cup, gave
thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood
of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins
(New American Bible, Mt 26.26 28).
Jesus s words referring to the bread and wine as his own body and blood ignited the
million dollar question that has persisted among theologians for centuries. Is the
bread and wine consecrated during the Eucharistic rite merely a symbolic
representation of Jesus s flesh and blood, or does the matter itself undergo a
substantial change into his body and blood? Well before Jesus s time, Aristotle posed
a theory in which all matter is comprised of its substance and its accidents.
Unfortunately, most of Aristotle s work was either lost or prohibited to be taught at
universities because educators felt it to be contradictory to religious beliefs (Martos
61). However, scholar Thomas Aquinas used Aristotle s theory as his foundation for
illuminating the concept of transubstantiation as a way to resolve the Real Presence
conflicts between theologians during the Medieval Period. ... Show more content on

Thomas Aquinas, in an attempt to put this conflict to bed, sheds light on how this
transubstantiation could be possible. In examining the resurrection of Jesus, he
connects the reunion of Christ s spiritual and physical body to this conversion of
substance on the altar. Moreover, he illustrates that although this body of Jesus was
immaculate and immortal, it still contained the characteristic properties of a living
person. Thus, Aquinas states that this physical, tangible form of Jesus s body after
the resurrection is precisely why it is possible to eat and drink his body and blood in
the Sacrament of the Eucharist (Prusak, Explaining Eucharistic Real Presence 247
248).
Analogous to Ratramnus s dispute over the simultaneous presence of the body in
heaven and on earth, Aquinas proposed that Christ s body being present in the
Eucharist is not a result of him physically traveling from heaven to earth (Prusak,
Explaining Eucharistic Real Presence 247 248). Instead, he stresses that the only
possibility for Christ to be present during this Sacrament is if such conversion takes
place. He clarifies that although Jesus is not present physically or accidentally, we
still receive him in spiritual form (Prusak, Explaining Eucharistic Real Presence

Introduction:
Cooking is the art and science of preparing food for eating by the application of heat
. It includes full range of culinary techniques: preparing raw, cooked foods for the
table; final dressing of meats, fish, and fowl; cleaning, cutting fruits, vegetables;
preparing salads; garnishing dishes, planning meals. Origins of cooking are obscure.
Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast killed in forest fire was
found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the customary raw
meat. However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole culinary
technique until the Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern
France began to steam their food over hot embers by wrapping it in wet leaves.
Aside from such hard procedures as toasting wild grains on flat rocks and using
shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat liquids, no further culinary advances were
made. So advancement in cooking techniques made culinary methods improved with
the introduction of earthenware and introduction of pottery during Neolithic Period .
The cooking techniques of boiling, stewing, braising, and perhaps even incipient

politics? The International Criminal Court (ICC) should ignore and be above
politics to form legitimacy in future. First, the ICC is a legal institution made by
sovereign governments have different political view, interests, and purpose to
protect. Its job is to support universal rules of law and act fairly with ignoring
political pressures. In the ICC, the prosecutors decide when warrants should be
issued and judges make final decisions and check the political actions. However, it
is still difficult for the ICC to challenge a powerful state because of political
pressure. The ICC is a court under the Rome Statues. It depends on States and
other powerful organizations to enforce decisions which bring concerns. Also, it is
also possible that political organization will sometimes act as difficulties to justice
processes. The concern is it can possibly leads the leaders to ignore or refuse
appeals from the ICC. Also, they might use the ICC s legitimacy for their own
political purposes which is why USA does not support the ICC currently. And it is
possible that the states refuse to give necessary information from the ICC which tries

It is hard to chase back to the origin of the art patronage, since it is nearly as old as
art itself, but the shift from a model dating from the Renaissance, in which leaders
of industry used the fruits of their labor to purchase or commission superlative art
either for their private residences or for the benefit of the public (or of God and the
Church), is surprisingly recent. So it s essential to isolate modern corporate
collecting from other great but older tradition such as hanging decorative pieces and
portraits of founders and other core members to embellish a boardroom or showcase
the firm s position or reputation.
Modern corporate collecting began in nineteenth century in the United States as a
movement to preserve the records, memorabilia, and products of a company.

Most Millennials believe that no one is inherently bad, and that criminal do not
commit crime because they want to, it s because they are forced into it because of
their situation. Their conception of the police officer

that all involved are safe, interview all involved, and sent everyone away happier,

40. Ewaste and the Basel Convention
Our world is constantly changing around us, with technology regularly advancing and
improving. Old technology and devices are being exchanged for newer objects. These
discarded items contain hazardous waste (both to human health and the environment)
and more waste is created during the manufacturing process. This creates a vast
amount of electronic waste, henceforth referred to as ewaste. The amount of ewaste
is growing exponentially; according to the US Environmental Protection Agency an
estimate of 5 to 10 percent increase worldwide is expected each year (STEP
Initiative). Even more alarming is that only 5% of this amount is being recovered
and is properly disposed (STEP Initiative). Today s globally interconnected economy
ensures that there is no county in the world that does not have a hazardous waste
problem (Basel Convention, Simplified Text). Despite this being a global problem,
there are very few international laws concerning the regulation of ewaste, except for
the UN Basel Convention and its more recent declarations, instead with countries
being left to come up with their own laws. International Laws also contain broad
definitions of what constitutes ewaste. The Basel Convention on the Control of
Trans boundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes heralded a new era in international
cooperation with regard to dealing in trans boundary trade in hazardous waste, and
also guidelines and regulations to ensure proper disposal by the countries. This paper
aims to address
41. Was Lizzie Borden A Serial Killer
Lizzie Borden is a very known serial killer but not by killing plenty of people, but
only killing her father and stepВmother. Along with her time period, the late 1800 s,
it was very unknown for women to be killers and were seen as the weaker sex ,
which is also one of the reasons why Mrs. Borden was so popular for this case. But
how do you get away with a murder of your parents?
Lizzie Borden was born on July 19th, 1860 in Fall River, Massachusetts. First born,
Emma Borden, was very prepared at age of 6 to have a baby sister (Alice) and
teach her how to love and would protect her from anything. Unfortunately, Alice died
at the age of 2 from hydrocephalus, which is water in the brain. On Emma s 9th

Suddenly, as Emma and Lizzie were in the early 30 s, they grew very resentful

Lizzie did not make friends easily but to her, she didn t really need manyНѕ all she

Emma , for a year and a half, left to go to Wheaton Female Seminary and was very
nervous that this absence was going to cause Abby to take over poor little Lizzie.
August 3, a day before the murder of Abby and Andrew, Lizzie was found at a

town and Abby was in a finished argument with Andrew.

42. Ordovician Life
For a long period, up till now, I loved the early life of earth. Kimberella,
Dickinsonia, and, later in time, Hylonomus were some of the creatures I studied.
To find out, I went online to look around. The first question I looked at, to me at
least, was the diversity of life in the early periods of life, specifically the
Ordovician. To find out the answer, we must go back in time, at the beginning of the
Ordovician in fact, to find out the answer. I started my research on this topic by
surfing the internet and looking at various websites until I found the perfect one. I
finally found an entire article on how the Ordovician period s life branched out. Next,
I wanted to find out information on the missing link between fish and early
amphibians.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this period there were volcanoes dotting the landscape of early Earth. Seems
inhospitable right? You are correct in a way, but there is life here, microscopic life,
but life nonetheless. Deep in the ocean, in the crushing depths, there are black
smokers, early versions of them, wafting out large amounts of heat and food. This is
where early life began, absorbing nutrients from the water. ( Proterozoic: Eukaryotes

43. Steven Pinker s The Big Bang
When it comes to deciding which species do or not possess language, firstly it is
important to ascertain what a language is: a system of communicating either by
spoken or written. Chapter 11, The Big Bang , is devoted to explaining that all
species have something uniquely characteristic to it that was obtained at some point
through evolution that makes them unique. Steven Pinker s, the author of The Big
Bang , central argument is that language is an instinct native and unique to the human
species. He completely disregards some primate language studies like Washoe the
chimp or Kanzi the bonobo that have learned some form of basic language. He
argues against other species, like primates, being able to use language because he
believes they did

It would be a long while because, quite simply, I was in love with New York. I do

45. Green Gables
Anne of Green Gables is a childhood classic created in 1908 by Lucy Maud
Montgomery. It quickly became a popular book for children to read as it was
easily relatable. In the book an old couple living on a farm adopted an orphan boy
to help with work, however, when Matthew the old farmer went to get the child at
the railway station, he instead found a girl. Since he couldn t leave the child by
herself he took her with him back home to Green Gables. When Marrilla, the sister
of Matthew, saw the child, she went with Anne to the orphanage to send her back.
When she arrived she saw how terrified the girl, whose name she learned was Anne,
looked when she saw who she was going to be handed over to, so she decided to
keep her, and hence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is when Mrs. Lynde, Green Gables nosy neighbor, came to visit the familywhen
she learned that they had gotten a girl instead of a boy. When Anne was presented
to her she talked about how skinny Anne was and how her hair was so red. Anne
being close enough to hear what Mrs. Lynde said to Marrilla got very mad and told
Mrs. Lynde rude things about her. After this confrontation Marrilla had a talk with
Anne about saying things to her guests and told her she must apologize. In the
book Anne said she would not apologize to Mrs. Lynde so Marrilla shut her up in
her room until she did. In the movie however it was completely different, with a
much more dramatic effect. This time when Marrilla told Anne to apologize Anne
said she would rather go back to the orphanage than go apologize to Mrs. Lynde.
Though this may not seem like a big change from the book it most definitely is.
During the beginning of the book you can see how much Anne adores Green
Gables, and it is easily apparent that she would never give Green Gables away. It is a
definite change to the story and how Anne feels about where she is. Soon after that
the filmmakers created another mistake, forgetting to put a church into the movie. In
both tellings of Anne of Green Gables Marrilla was a very religious woman and tried
to make Anne religious too. Every Sunday she made Anne go to the community
church, or at least, you assume so. Throughout the entire movie you never see Anne
going to church, although you see her becoming more religious. As well, in one
scene of the movie you get to see Anne walking with Marrilla and another woman,
who they address as Mrs. Allen, one of the churches class teachers, as said in the
book. Once again though, there is no mention of the church, there is also no reason
to believe they left it out because of religious purposes as they would skip the
religious remarks completely then, and

Employee theft is one of the major problems in parking industry. In 2012, more than
10 employees have been fired in relation to theft at Imperial parking, Seattle branch.
Parking lots are potential feeding ground for thieves. The most common form of

47. The Roman Colosseum Of Rome
When I ask you to imagine Italy and all the vast architecture, what do picture? I am
going to assume you would picture colosseums. The piece of art I chose to research
was the granddaddy of them all, the Roman Colosseum. This is potentially the most
famous monument to survive the classical period. Today, the Colosseumis one of
Rome s most popular tourist attractions, attracting millions of visitors every year.
This massive amphitheater is located in the center of Rome, Italy. During ancient
roman times these massive amphitheaters were commonly placed around cities.
Eventually there were well over 250 amphitheaters in the Roman empire(Hopkins).
However, no other amphitheater competes in size. What sparked the want to build
such a massive amphitheater? Why is this so important? Years prior to the
construction of the Colosseum, Rome was dealing with a massive civil war which
destroyed the city. At the time of construction, Rome s emperor was Vespasian s
and his decision to build the Colosseum on the site of Nero s lake can be seen as a
gesture of returning a part of the city to the people which emperor Nero had
appropriated for his own use (Roman Colosseum History). However, Vespasian
never saw the completion of his Colosseum due to his untimely death. His son, Titus
would go on to open the Colosseum to the public in AD 80. The Colosseum
remained in service for 450 years. The Colosseum is also known as The Flavian
Amphitheatre(Roman). The Colosseum had seating for

So, we need to make sure that every step or the process that we incorporate in our
strategy of service delivery represent or reflects the quality and standard of our
service. In services, if we talk about satisfying our customer, practically it s very
hard to agree a customer or make him/her trust that our service would be up to their
desired level.(Jessica Hwang, Eves and Desombre, 2003). So, for this we need to
identify some of the gaps that always exist in very service firm and by filling those
gaps, a company can satisfy her customer more efficiently. The four services gaps
49. Antonio Vivaldi Priesthood
Antonio Vivaldi was born March 4 of 1678 in Venice, Italy or Republic of Venice.
When Vivaldi was born his parent thought he was a miracle from God because on
the day that Vivaldi was born an earthquake hit the town of Venice killing millions
and not killing the Vivaldi family. Because of this, his parents had committed
Vivaldi to the priesthood since he was young. His father sees that Vivaldi is a child
prodigy and quits his job to teach his son how to play the violin. Vivaldi was very
limited to what kind of instruments he was able to play, due to his sickness which
now many think is asthma , which is why he was excellent in playing string
instruments. While being trained musical, Vivaldi was also being prepared for the
life of priesthood.
