H. J Mccloskey Argument
Eighteenth century Enlightenment philosophers believed that reason and science were the
foundation of truth; thereby, tradition, faith, and superstition were becoming obsolete. They felt
they were coming out of the darkness of medieval religion and into the light of reason. However,
rather than discovering true liberation after killing God, they had only succeeded in orphaning
themselves (Craig, 2008. P. 71). This dissertation will focus on the article On Being an Atheist
written by Australian philosopher H.J. McCloskey in 1968. The purpose of his article was to
establish, what he referred to as proofs against the existence of God.
It is interesting that McCloskey refers to his grounds for evidence as proofs for according to Mark
Foreman, who is Professor of Philosophy and Religion at Liberty University, proof carries with it
connotations of certainty that actually originate from the field of mathematics and is not meant to
be used regarding philosophical arguments pertaining to the existence of God. Theists cannot prove
the existence of God 100%; ergo, the naturalists and atheists cannot provide 100% proof that God
does not exist.
Arguments are defeasible, they are not incorrigible, thus defeaters can be presented; therefore, the
cumulative case approach of combining a number of arguments to make the case is the best ... Show

For example, inanimate objects such as pencil sharpeners, toaster ovens, and iPhone are
intelligently designed; however, the object is not intelligent itself. The fine tuning argument is the
strongest teleological argument; ergo, matter is so finely tuned for life possessing the innate
capacity to appear on this planet. According to Dr. James Hannam, atheists have yet to refute the
Fine Tuning argument to Design, and therefore we have reason to believe there was a divine creator

Women Within The Grecian Culture
Ancient Greece as a place and period time in our extensive history was a place of patriarchal power,
controlled almost entirely by the masculine sphere and association with the Gods. It was a time in
history that produced some of the most famous thinkers however they were all men. Women within
the Grecian culture where very much the passive sex, confined to housework and almost never
educated. It is interesting therefore that the characters that have emerged at the exposure of the
phallic philosophical pen still remain as an ally to the feminist movement and are relevant to our
way of thinking today, acting as feminist pioneers both in theory and literature, helping the canon
evolve years after being written. At a time where scientific... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Medea, the Gorgon monster who seduces men, turning them to stone and Antigone who is arguably
still one of the most powerful images we have of female strength to date. In their own right and
agency, they all act as feminist pioneers Sophocles Antigone, along with Medea are potentially the
best example we have for how Myth has shaped and developed the feminist movement. Sophocles
drama Antigone, written around 441 BCE, is one of his three Theban plays that chronicle the dark
fortunes of the house of Oedipus, king of Thebes. After Oedipus death, there is a struggle over the
kingship between his two sons Eteocles and Polyneices. The army of Polyneices marches on
Thebes and is defeated, but both brothers are killed in the battle. The new ruler, Creon, decrees that
whereas Eteocles will be buried with full honours for defending the city, the rebel Polyneices
must be denied holy rites and left to rot in the field and if anyone disobeys him they are to be
punished by death. The state and patriarchy take high place within the novel as it does in many
Grecian teaching places. The play was used to teach the subjects of the citadel about respect for the
law and respect for society. We must therefore ask questions concerning the place of a feminine
tragic hero, and the effect that it would have had.

Semiotic Analysis of Teenage Magazine Front Covers
SiГўn Davies
In this essay I will hope to analyse the semiotic codes of the front covers of teenage magazines to
demonstrate how the media constructs the image and behavioural ideology of the teenage girl. I
will analyse issue 359 of More! (December 27 th 2001 January 8th 2002) and compare it with the
January 2002 edition of 19. I have chosen these specific texts as they are popular mainstream
magazines that are available in most newsagents, and therefore arguably represent to the reader
what constitutes the modern teenage girl. These are also the most recent issues available for
analysis and therefore demonstrate an up to date representation of constructed femininity in our
media and society.
Jonathan Bignell (1997) argues that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These assumptions pervade the contents of mainstream teenage magazines, with features such as
Position of the Fortnight and Celebrity Hair Special frequently appearing within the pages. This is
the reader to whom most teenage magazines cater they broadcast to a stereotypical mass (which is
arguably an artificial representation and does not reflect the identities and lives of all teenage
girls). In order to analyse the image and behavioural ideology of the teenage girl offered within
teenage magazines, I will attempt to investigate some semiotic codes within More! and 19.
The front cover is an important aspect of the magazine as it initially attracts the reader and is a
taster of what can be seen within the contents of the magazine. It is an important advertisement
and serves to label its possessor (McLoughlin 2000: 5). This is certainly a factor that influences
the purchasing behaviours of young teenage girls who attempt to appear more mature and more
sexually knowledgeable by buying a magazine aimed at girls 4 or 5 years their senior. The front
cover will also promise that the contents of the magazine... will fulfil the needs of the individual
and her group and sells a future image of the reader as happier, more desirable (Bignell 1997: 67).
By merely looking at the front cover of a magazine therefore, a potential reader will be able

Comparison Between Pico Iyer s Joy Of Travel And Alfred...
While at first glance Pico Iyer s joy of traveling and Alfred Hitchcock s classic thriller romance
film might not have much in common, they actually do share several similar ideas about travel
and how it changes one as a person. Pico Iyer expounds on his various experiences with traveling
across the world and its transformative power on your worldview in Why We Travel . Alfred
Hitchcocktells the tale of an established business man, rich with opinions, status, and money, who
gets thrown into an adventure because of a case mistaken identity in North by Northwest. Pico Iyer

Moreover, Thornhill was obviously intoxicated when he was arrested, and the next day the
police found out that the car he was driving was stolen. When the police refused to believe his
story of being kidnapped and framed, and Thornhill s mother only increased their suspicions
because she was also convinced that her son was lying. She alludes that he is a heavy drinker by
asking about how much he drank when he called her. Skeptical of her own son s stories, she also
tells him to just pay the two dollars for his fine. This shows several things; first, she is extremely
wealthy by her lack of sense of how expensive fines are, and second, getting drunk and having
wild nights might be a common occurrence for Thornhill, as she appears exasperated and used to
his unruly behavior. With no one, not even his closet family, to believe him, Robert Thornhill s
reputation began to be destroyed. He had no power, no title, no reputation to help him when
others created an identity for him and based their judgements off that alone. He essentially lost all
of his past self and had zero credibility. When fleeing from the police, Thornhill attempts to buy a
train ticket from a salesman. However, the salesman notices a picture of Thornhill from the
newspaper, which claimed he was a criminal and murderer, and so he decided to call the cops on

Green Day Song Analysis
Many people opposed this but the government did what they had to do under the command of
George Bush. Even the soldiers that were sent to do the job were not willing to do it but they did
it because of their patriotism towards the nation. Montgomery very clearly explains the same
points. All of this began after 9/11 wars on the World Trade Centre in Manhattan, New York. A lot
of musical responses were released. The American idiot by Green day was one of the most
influential one. Even though this was a rock song there people who all genre of music that join the

Music is perhaps the most powerful tool to express anything because people can relate to lot of
things that are shown or heard through music. Rock genre has been quite a trending genre since
the past decades. It is considered to be one of the most interesting music genres the world has
created, especially because this genre is something that makes the raw talent to come out of the
performers and not just electronic music that is being played. One thing about this genre is that
all the artists literally create the music and do not simply copy and paste in their books, it is
their own vocals that makes it really interesting. This genre is not my personal preference as I
think dance music is much better, but this video stands up to the mark and proves that there is a
lot of meaning to it. The video conveys a strong message about the rebellious nature of the
people and they should stand against the government, as the artist himself is wearing all black
with a red neck tie and asks for a new agenda because he does not want war anymore and asks the
people to stand up and question themselves if they want to be a part of a useless

Pineapple Express Character Analysis
Similarities with fictional characters Have you ever thought of which fictional characters you
relate too? I am a person who is funny, intelligent and lazy. I chose 3 fictional character that I relate
to the most. The three fictional characters that most represent my personality are Saul Silver from
Pineapple Express for his funny personality, Chris Gardner from the Pursuit of Happiness for being
intelligent and his willingness to strive for success, and Patrick from Spongebob Squarepantsfor his
laziness, always being late to things he had to do.
Saul Silver from the movie Pineapple Express has a silly personality, which I believe is a
characteristic that I posses as well. A scene from the movie which Saul shows that charactertrait is
when his friend Dale Denton gets arrested for selling marijuana to kids and Saul had gone off to
buy burritos for them to eat. Next he came back and had seen what happened, as the cop was
driving away with his friend in the back seat he decided to get hit by the cop car so the officer
could get out of the vehicle. Then after that occurred Saul crawled around the car and hopped in
the front seat and drove away with his friend. When Saul was struck by the car he spilled a red
smoothie all over the front windshield. On that occasion he put his foot through the windshield to
create an opening so he can see, despite that wasn t the case his foot ended up getting stuck. This
character trait hurts the character because it gets him in sticky

Energy Of Renewable Energy Sources Essay
In recent years many endeavors have been devoted to reduce the pollutant energy generation by
increasing the utilization of clean energy sources. Actually, the power sector is responsible for
roughly a quarter of anthropogenic CO2 emissions [1]. Thus, the widespread introduction of
renewable energy sources is seen to be one of the major solutions. Meanwhile, fossil fuelbased
power plants will still be needed. In any case, fully abstaining from the use of fossil fuels is
difficult. Nevertheless, fossil fuel resources are ultimately finite and the goal should be to shift to
renewable energysources gradually. Due to its effective role in clean energy generation, microgrid
structure is increasingly utilized in power systems, nowadays [2]. Distributed Energy Resources
(DERs) and Renewable Energy Sources (RESs) as environment friendly sources of energy are the
key players to this goal [3].
Microgrid as an aggregator manages power scheduling of DERs and RESs to serve sustainably
and reliably through energy management system (EMS) [4], [5]. Employing EMS, microgrid not
only alleviates undesirable impacts of intermittencies pertained to RESs, DERs and load, but also
provides secure energy services according to smart grid provisional objectives [6],[7]. EMS is in
charge of synchronization with the main grid, voltage and frequency control through power
balancing and preserving secure operational margins [8],[9],[10],[11],[12]. Microgrids usually
experience power fluctuations due to

B.F. Skinner was one of the most controversial intellectual figures of the late twentieth century.
He was well known as an American psychologist, philosopher, scientist, and poet. He was born
on March 20, 1904 in the small town of Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. After receiving his B.A. in
English literature in 1926, Skinner decided to attend Harvard University, in which he later earned
his masters in psychology in 1930 and his doctorate in 1931. He spent most of his professional
life teaching at different Universities, but remained in Harvard University for the rest of his life.
He first showed interests in psychology after researching about John B. Watson and Ivan Pavlov

Science of Tea
There doesn t seem to be a downside to tea, American Dietetic Association
Black, white and green tea are all made from the same plant, Camellia sinensis, and although they
undergo different processing each tea contains significant amounts of catechins. Catechins are a
type of disease fighting flavonoid and antioxidant that help to fight off cellular damage in the body.
The magic health ingredient in teas is polyphenols and how much you ingest is relative to the
fermentation level used in their fermentation processing. In order of levels of polyphenols black
teas are lowest, Oolong teas are next, with green and white teas having the highest levels
polyphenols.

Abstract
This research paper is based on the development and implementation of completely integrated
performance management system. The organizations are enjoying many benefits by implementing
the performance management system. It has helped in improving the productivity of employees in
most of the organizations. It is to be understood that apart from advantages, the system also carries
some disadvantages. It is time consuming and there are chances of biases entering into the system.

The performance management system helps the company in identifying the employees who are not
able to perform as per the expectations. Warnings can be given to these employees for improving
their performance. Even after that they are not able to improve their performance; these employees
can be terminated on the basis of performance. The organization keeps documentation about the
performance of an employee. The company documents the performance in HR s file. Employees in
Organization are motivated and they value the structure of the company, its development and plan
for growth. A motivated employee performs using full potential, which is good for both the
organization and employee.
Relationship between Performance Management and Compensation
Performance management system makes a clear link between the performance and compensation,
and allows the employees to understand the areas which need to be improved and directs them to
appropriate training opportunities to enable improvement in performance to take place. Joseph
Martocchio says, Work with line managers to design the performance appraisal plan which best fits

I Naturally And Instantly Chose `` Bohemian Rhapsody `` By...
For my song analysis assignment, I naturally and instantly chose Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
This song was the anthem of the 70 s and still, our anthem today. Nothing compares to the
harmonies and musicianship put into this song.
Queen released Bohemian Rhapsody on October 31, 1975.
This song was greeted like a gift from heaven in the largely desolated musical ground of the mid 70s
Freddie Mercury is the writer of the song also pianist and a lead vocalist in Queen. He wrote the
song in his apartment whilst he was trying to develop a complex song using a structure that leans
towards a more classical approach.
In the studio, the band embraced the psychedelic and progressive elements (which were initiating
throughout this era) and took them to another level.
Bohemian Rhapsody was nothing more than their simple their simple instrumental line up of
Guitar, Bass, Piano and Drums. However, they played them like they were something completely
new and in doing so; Queen delivered a new revolution of rock music.
Thrown into the period of glam, it was no surprise when Queen s elegance earned them a glam
rocker tag.
The title of the song has a powerful ideology. The word Bohemian could be traced to the practice
of an untraditional lifestyle. I believe the song has something to do with Freddie coming out as a
homosexual. In that era, it was not a normal thing and therefore majority of people were against it.
Interestingly enough the song has not got a chorus, but just

Higher level writing is vital for my current standings as a college student and my future

properly write on a college level. I have continuously worked on my writing skills throughout
English 101 and 102 and hope the skills I have gained in these courses will prepare me to write on
an intellectual level. Looking back at previous discussion posts, assignments, papers, and feedback
from peers and my instructor, I have achieved a large amount of insight to higher level writing. This
past semester I was required to create four major papers including Rhetorical Analysis Essay,
Annotated Bibliography, Exploratory Essay, and the Researched Position Paper. Each of these
papers entailed vigorous researchand time. My writing has progressively improved throughout the
semester in quoting, summarizing, and paraphrasing source material, as well as choosing academic
appropriate sources; however, I must strive to improve in general writing skills covering
organization, style, diction, grammar, and mechanics.
I felt that I did well on the third course objective of synthesizing ethically summarized, paraphrased,
and quoted source material into academic arguments. Typically, I used quotes strongly along with
information throughout my papers from numerous academic level sources. In my Researched

CГ©zanne
As for what I learned during this unit, CГ©zanne was a father of cubism when cubism was
unknown! Therefore, as he uses geometric shapes, we can find a same draw style in Matisse s
paint and Picasso too. Of course, Picasso had influenced from that style, but he used to exaggerate
more these geometric shapes!
In fact, between paints of Joy of Life and The Large Bathers, for example we find similarities as
both of them used a landscape in their paints, then in both works trees are planted at the sides and
in the far distance, and their upper boughs are spread apart like curtains, highlighting the figures
lounging beneath. In addition, like CГ©zanne, Matisse unifies the figures and the landscape.
CГ©zanne does this by stiffening and tilting his trunk like figures. In Matisse s work, the serpentine
arabesques that define the contours of the women are heavily emphasized, and then reiterated in the
curvilinear lines of the trees .(1)( HenriMatisse.org,nd)
Regarding Picasso s paint, critics says that this paint was done in reaction of Matisse s paint.
We know that, in their life, Matisse and Picasso established a relationship on mutual respect and
rivalry. They were two extremely different people and personalities. Picasso was the first modern

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Low Dollar Purchase System
What is Low Dollar Purchase System In order for lower departments and supervisors to make
purchase of products and services that are required for day to day operations the low dollar
purchase system was developed. Of course, this system has regulations on the amounts so the
products/services are limited to a cost authorized by the company, which eliminates the long
process to make small purchases. With companies like PPL, it is a must to have the low dollar
purchase system in place because they work 24/7, therefore PPL uses the following approaches for
reducing the effort and transactions required to process low value purchases:
(1). User negotiated and issued service contracts: for PPL this approach works for the field users
to negotiate and issue orders up to $50,000 contracted service and $3,000 for the materials, which
helps out tremendously because they are a 24/7 company. (2). Local purchase orders:
this approach is ideal for miscellaneous items that do not have a corporate contractor another
method that covers the purchase. Local purchase orders are used for the local suppliers with a
maximum limit of $1,000 and completed with numbered forms. (3). Blanket purchase orders and
releasing:
this approach allows users to use releases directly to suppliers, but Purchasing still responsible for
determining what items should be on a blanket purchase order. This type is for repetitive orders
from a supplier and usually in effect for a year. (4). Procurement

Significance of the Night of the Long Knives for Hitler s Power
In the interwar years of 1933 to 1939, Europe saw the rise of Nazi Germany, which was to
become the capstone of the inter war period, and led to the eruption of World War II, shattering
the fragile peace overseen by the League of Nations. But how did a party that was in a state of
political decline manage this? The Nazi regime s advancement was paralleled by the life of its
leader, Adolf Hitler, who perfected his oratorical skills and worked for the advancement of the
Nazi party. Such advancement was slow in coming through the years 1925 to 1929, a fairly stable
period in Europe. However, as the world became hindered in depression ... Show more content on

There is evidence to prove that the Nazis themselves had set the fire, but in any case, this event
had appropriate timing which furthered the Nazi election campaign concerning the Communist
Threat . Hitler used the incident to persuade Hindenburg to restrict all individual rights and
declare that the central government could oust any state government failing to maintain order.
With the Decree of the Reich President for the Protection of People and State, Hitler could
justify his actions under the Decree by saying that it was a state of emergency and that it would
be repealed when the emergency passed. However it was never repealed while the Nazis were in
power. With the powers that this gave to the Nazis, the Reichstag Fire Decree was, in effect, the
foundation of Nazi rule. The decree led to the legal persecution of political rivals, such as members
of the Communist party, the KPD.
Even so, the Nazis only won 43.9 percent of the electorate vote in 1933. To gain a two thirds
majority needed to pass the Enabling law, (the cornerstone of Nazi power) Hitler formed an
alliance with the Nationalist party, and declared the communist party illegal. The Catholic Centre
Party voluntarily liquidated itself when a deal was struck between Hitler and the Pope,

Essay On French Withdrawal From Indochina
Writer Virginia Thompson quoted, If France had not been victorious in the (First) World War it
is no exaggeration to say that she would never have been able to keep Indo China. It is also no
exaggeration to say that France s disastrous defeats in the early part of World War II were to be a
major factor in France s ultimate loss of its Indochinese colonies of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
Various reasons account for the withdrawal of the French from Indochina (Vietnam, Laos, and
Cambodia) by 1954. Since the start of the French Colonization of Indochina around 1893, tension
was present in both parties which was only deepened by the series of occurrences and notions that
followed. The result of WWII caused France to be significantly weakened, specifically the economy
and the country as a whole. This led to the abandonment of the French from the Southeast Asian

Romantic Love Definition Essay
Throughout the world, there are numerous ways to express and show love to the ones we care
about. However, what does love truly mean? There are numerous forms of love, but how can you
define romantic love? People tend to agree and disagree about the definition of this type of love,
and cannot come to a concise conclusion of what it means. Erich Fromm states that mature love
includes: care, responsibility, respect, and knowledge. As I have interviewed people of different
ages and marital status, I found that everyone who I had interviewed had a similar idea to what
romantic love is. Nevertheless, those who have been married for over twenty years seemed to have

Although the answers were similar, the content within their answers were different. My grandpa

have that knowledge of what love truly is and what it can be. Furthermore, when I analyzed the

The Bluest Eye Rhetorical Devices
English 1, Cornerstone 2: Chart 1.2 Write your essay below. One of Toni Morrison s nationally
bestsellers, The Bluest Eye, uses contrasts to introduce and develop central ideas about truth and
beauty. Specifically, Morrison uses the perceived bad, false, and ugly to illuminate the good, the
true, and the beautiful. For example, she juxtaposes the idea of a perfect, ideal home where
things live happily and grow bountifully with the idea of a run down, impoverished home where

California has the most unsheltered homeless population as well. The prevalence of being
homeless is 1 in every 332 people. Riverside county, located in southern California, reported that
there 2,165 homeless. Of those 2,165, only 841 were considered shelter while on the other hand
1,352 were unsheltered. They ran the same test for 2017 and the numbers increased. 2,413 are now
accounted with the number of sheltered decreased to 775 and unsheltered increased to 1,638.
(County of Riverside, 2017)
There are numerous underlying problems as to why people experience homelessness. There is a lot
of misconception of why or how people become homeless. Most people assume that others are
homeless because they cannot maintain a steady line of work. However, 25% of homeless are
employed. They are low end jobs with little pay.
Housing. The scarceness of affordable housing is the ultimate source of people being homeless. For
renters to be able to meet the expense of a two bedroom apartment, they would have to make twice
the national minimum wage. (National Coalition for the Homeless, n.d.)
Employment and Income. Underemployment and low wages are not sufficient to meet even the
minimum requirements for the cost of living and is another cause of homeless. This issue burdens
millions of people whether they are homeless or not. (National Coalition for the Homeless, n.d.)

Deforestation is when humans remove or clear large areas of forest lands and related ecosystems
for non forest use. These include clearing for farming purposes, ranching and urban use. In these
cases, trees are never re planted. Since the industrial age, about half of world s original forests
have been destroyed and millions of animals and living things have been endangered. (http:/

The Goffman s Theory Of Dramaturgy
Pretend you are playing the role of a character named Jordan, while discussing Erving Goffman s
theory of dramaturgy. Jordan finally made it. Jordan finally graduated university and has been
lucky enough to receive an offer for an interview at the institution that he had been working towards
his entire university career, an interviewat the top law firm in all of Toronto. Now it is time to
prepare. It is time for Jordan to show the firm that he is meant to be there. To show the firm that
this position was meant for him, he must be the best version of himself. Jordan is competing
against hundreds of other university graduates, but he must show them that he is the one. Jordan s
first impression matters, he must show them the qualities that they want to see to ensure that he
receives the position at the law firm. While attending this interview in the role of Jordan, you
want to put forward the best version of yourself, it is expected by all to do so. If you want the job
you are going to show the interviewers exactly what they want to see to ensure that you get the
position. While doing this you are engaging in what Goffman calls impression management.
Impression management refers to the verbal and nonverbal practices we employ in an attempt to
present an acceptable image of our self to others (Goffman, 2012, pg. 469). You portray a certain,
expected image to the audience and hope that they see that image the way that you intended. In

Stakeholders have a significant influence on the aims of an organisation. They are the people who
are affected by or interested in the business. In some organisations the shareholders are
stakeholders, and at times have some of the decision power. In trade organisations, customers are
also considered stakeholders; therefore their needs are part of the organisation s overall objectives.
The following table outlines the stakeholders for each of British Airways, John Lewis and World
Vision International. It also indicates the level of power each stakeholder represents and the
organisations interest in them.

Richard II Authority
Richard II was a play that was written by William Shakespeare in his earlier days (1398). This
particular play is considered to be his 1st in his history of the tetralogy, which is a series of four
games. In this particular piece of literature the author points out several different factors; however,
the most relevant factors are in regards to kingship and the role of authority figures and how these
characters intertwined within our perception of the way we operate as a community or in this case
in England. My understanding of this play is that you have those within life that are all talk and
those that are doers such as leaders. The literacy contributes to the present moments in history such

Gaunt states, This other Eden, demi paradise (Bevington, 2014 p.341). He is only specifying
that England symbolically is a replica of the Garden of Eden. In his speeches, they are powerful
due to his imagery descriptions and the visuals he leaves his readers with once he has delivered
a speech. Also, within Act 3 scene 4 he mentions the garden again by saying, Thou, old Adam s
likeness set to dress this garden (Bevington, 2014 p.356). All of which correlates back to the
biblical era when Adam and Eve were in the Garden and their desire associated with the
landscape of the garden whereas God had prepared a special place for them to live. Therefore,
the imagery perceived from the garden is a beautiful place because he refers to the location as
paradise. Now, as a child, my family lived in Hawaii, which too was referred to as paradise due
to the beautiful landscaping of the body of waters surrounding the Island, passion fruit, trees, and
the vibrant color scheme that was visual to the five senses. All of these elements made our
experience of living there resemble elements of paradise, while here on Earth. In another passage,
Gaunt refers to England as a blessed plot which means he believes the land is sacred and holy.
My perceptive of this statement were linked to the jewel he compares England to a precious stone

The Marketing Strategy Of Marco Gianni Shoes Essay
In Marco Gianni Shoes case, basically, the owners did not have any marketing strategy. Because in
order to create a marketing strategy, there are four necessary aspects that must be considered.
First of all, the operators must be aware of their target market and what kind of product they
intend to provide to their target customers. And the next step is to make a decision about what
kind of relationship do the operators intend to form with their customers or suppliers. Thirdly, in
order to create this strategy, what level of investment is required and how will the operators
allocate and locate the required resources. Finally the operators must have detailed objectives and
action plans (David, 2015a).
It is clear that the operators of Marco Gianni Shoes did not consider all of these four aspects.
Marco Gianni Shoes opened in a fashion center of Auckland, it is a fantastic location, plenty of
customers passing by their store every day. But the owners Leo and Josth really messed up with
their market positioning. They never considered what customer segmentation they are going to
focus. And they did not think about what are the appropriate products for this customer
segmentation. So the shop was made by an Italian designed images, low price shoes that are coming
from Chinese manufacture and a very horrible indoor decoration which does not fit the high street
environment.
For the second aspect, Leo and Josth had no intention to build any relationship with both their

(MARKET RESEARCH) We use market research to gain valuable insights about our customers, the
market condition, and our competitive surroundings. We use this knowledge to build a more
effective marketing plan. This focuses on specific information regarding our target market and
the key factors that influence their buying decisions. When conducting this information, it is
very important to keep in mind six marketing research questions which include Who, What,
Where, When, Why, and How. Who is purchasing and consuming sport products and services.
What is the competition, what do the customers want and need, and what factors influence
purchase decisions. When is the purchase decision made and when is the purchase used. Where
is the information sought and where is the decision made. Why is the purchase made. Last but
not least, how is the product or service used. Our primary research is the direct contact we have
with our clients, and by doing that we use focus groups to gather small groups of people together
for a discussion with an assigned leader. We also engage in customer surveys for existing
customers as well as potential customers. A few of the questions that are asked in our survey

Goods and Services Tax A Roadmap for India

Over the years, tax policy in the country has evolved in response to the development strategy and its
changes. In the initial years, the tax policy was directed to increase the level of savings, transfer
available savings for investment as envisaged by plan strategy and the need to ensure a fair
distribution of incomes, to correct inequalities arising from the oligopolistic market structure

This shift to GST is expected to significantly improve buoyancy from indirect taxes, owing to the
opportunity it provides for further convergence and moderation of rates and a substantial expansion
in the base which would extend beyond manufacturing all the way to retail. Reforming the tax
system is important for achieving fiscal consolidation, creating instability in the economy and
minimizing distortions in the economy. The wave of tax reforms across the world began in the
mid 1980s and speeded up in the 1990s due to a number of factors. In many developing countries,
tax policy was directed to correct fiscal imbalances. In others, the transition from centralized
planning to market required wide ranging tax reforms to replace public enterprise profits with taxes
as the principal source of revenue. An important reason, however, was internationalization of
economic activities. The sharp reduction in tariffs accompanying globalization required that an
appropriate source of revenue to replace this had to be found. On the other, globalization
emphasized the need to minimize both efficiency and compliance costs of the tax system.

Title
The Development and Challenge of 3D Printing
Introduction
In recent years 3D printing arouses focus of public with appearing in a huge number of areas. In
this essay, it will describe 3D printing which is one important application of rapid prototyping.
Rapid prototyping (RP) is general for several techniques, which read in data from computer aided
design (CAD) drawings and manufacture automatically three dimensional objects layer by layer
according to the virtual design (Sanna 2008).
3D printing also known as additive manufacturing is any of various processes used to make a three
dimensional object. In 3D printing, additive processes are used in which successive layers of
material are laid down under computer control. These objects can be almost any shape or
geometry and are produced from a 3D model or other electronic data source. A 3D printer is a type
of industrial robot.
Due to the limitation of space this essay will introduce the basic principle of just four kinds of
main printers nowadays and their positive application in construction. The essay left will focus on
the two main challenge this technology is facing now and predict the possible development
direction.

Teachers Students And The Learning Environment
Teachers conducting action research in there class Action research is a means through which an
educator stays informed of the on going trends in education with specific interest in individual
content areas or classroom management techniques. Teachers need to understand these trends to
better serve the students. By participating in these research activities, teachers embrace change in
pedagogical strategies and learn how to best understand their students and the learning environment.
These in turn opens avenues for differentiated instruction. Differentiated instruction is a teaching
strategy that varies teaching techniques depending on individual student needs to meet the student
at their points of need. Meeting students at their points of need and teaching them required content
based using the most appropriate method should be the sole purpose for every educator. Therefore,
teachers should conduct action research in their own classrooms to be better educators. Action

Why was I cursed with the passion to learn what was called the Universal language of the world.
My intentions with music arose from a young age in a middle school band when I was given a

my middle school band director chose me along with a few others to represent the school in a

The first convention dedicated to women s rights was in Seneca Falls, New York in 1848. It
spanned both the 19th and 20th of July. This convention was run by two women, Elizabeth Cady
Stanton and Lucretia Mott and organized by Mary M Clintock. This event attracted approximately
one three hundred people, the majority being women. At this convention a modified draft of the
Preamble to the Declaration of Independence was drawn and stated, We hold these truths to be self
evident: that all men and women are created equal. The title of this modification is known to be
Declaration of Sentiments, Grievances, and Resolutions , written by Elizabeth Stanton. Thirteen
resolutions were made including that a man should not withhold a woman s rights, take her
property or refuse to allow her to vote, and sacred right of franchise. The revision of the
Declaration of Independence received signatures from female and male supporters. Sixty eight of
the signers were women and 32 were men, including Frederick Douglass. Although the Seneca Falls
Convention was the first women s rights convention in America, it was inspired by the World Anti
Slavery Convention in 1840 in London. This convention invited women but did not allow them to
speak their opinions. Lucretia Mott expressed the hypocrisy of this in her diary and thus sparked
the beginning of the fight for

The Aztec Civilization
Mesoamerica was once a place filled with growing, ruthless empires and civilizations. Although not
one was like the Aztecs and their empire. Although they started off with a humble beginning, they
quickly grew into a great civilization that dominated present day Central Mexico. They conquered
and expanded into an empire stronger than the other neighboring empires. And, the heart of the
Aztecempire, Tenochtitlan was a grand capital filled with people and temples. The Aztecs were also
ahead of its time with fully functional irrigation systems and government. The Aztec civilization
truly was one of Mesoamericas most influential empires because of their history, unique culture,
and beautiful architecture.

They built various temples for many of their gods, but only the two most honored had a temple
at the top of the Templo Mayor, meaning temple major, which was located at the center of
Tenochtitlan. The astounding pyramid was built in 1325 to honor the sun god Huitzilopochtli
and the rain god Tlaloc (Ancient 1). The Templo Mayor is believed to have been around 300 ft.
high with two temples at it s peak for their gods (McDowell 768). The Aztecs built many other
pyramids with a temple at the top, but the factor that determined an important pyramid was if the
pyramid had a roof made of wooden beams forming a point (Morgan 15). The average Aztec
temple was approximately 200 ft. that rose in terraces with a broad stairway leading to the top
(Morgan 15). Art for the Aztecs was a way to honor their gods, and for their own aesthetic
pleasure. The artisans would organize themselves into guilds based on what they were skilled in.
Through metalwork, the Aztecs would make metal objects by beating thin pieces of gold, silver,
or copper, or they would make ornaments and jewelry by pouring molten gold into basic molds.
Their lapidaries carved and polished bright colored gems, such as jade, turquoise, and quartz, to
create mosaics and jewelry, or to decorate objects such as clothing and weapons. The last form of
art the Aztecs practiced was pottery, which was not made with a wheel but with simple tools.

A Clean Well-Lighted Place Waiter
In A Clean, Well Lighted Place, it seems as if the young waiter resembles Henry because he is
young and the most masculine from the other characters involved; he only thinks of what he
wants. For example, when the deaf old man wants another round of brandy the young waiter
feels sleepy and says, I never get into bed before three o clock. He should have killed himself last
week. The waiter took the brandy bottle and another saucer from the counter inside the cafe and
marched out to the old man s table. He put down the saucer and poured the glass full of brandy.
You should have killed yourself last week, he said to the deaf old man (Hemingway Clean 289).
Both the young waiter and Henry seem to fully know what s going on and are in control.... Show

Now, without thinking further, he would go home to his room. He would lie in bed and finally,
with daylight, he would go to sleep. After all, he said to himself, it s probably only insomnia.
Many must have it (Hemingway Clean 291). The old waiter is on his way to a bar as he talks to
himself, it is dark; in, A Farewell to Arms, Henry says, I am afraid of Him in the night sometimes
(A Farewell. 62), meaning Hemingway is scared of God at night because he thinks God may
punish him or not protect him from evil. So when he arrives at the bar he feels safe and a little
foolish for scaring himself and smiles. But by him memorizing parts of the prayer he has very
little faith. When the old waiter is praying, he wants God to have mercy on him, protect him
because he s scared and lost. The old waiter also lies to himself trying to make things seem a
little brighter by convincing himself it s only insomnia and Many must have it (Hemingway
Clean 291). The old waiter has no faith, is scared of the dark and goes to sleep during the day;
not very masculine because he s scared, lost and not in control if he can t sleep at night when
most people sleep the deaf old man from, A Clean, Well Lighted Place, by having no faith because
God didn t save Catherine, and because according to Henry, Everything was gone inside of me
(Hemingway Farewell 282).

Pre-Paid Legal Services
9 100 037 REV: JULY 2, 2003 PAUL HEALY Pre Paid Legal Services, Inc. Pre Paid Legal plans
are designed to help middle income Americans have affordable access to quality legal assistance.
Pre Paid Legal Services Corporate Vision Harland C. Stonecipher founded the Pre Paid Legal
Services, Inc. (PPLS) in 1972 after an expensive encounter with lawyers stemming from an
automobile accident. PPLS sold legal expense insurance that provided for partial payment of legal
fees in connection with the defense of certain civil and criminal actions. The company went public
in 1979 and grew rapidly throughout the 1980s as an increasing number of Americans subscribed
to legal service insurance (see Exhibit 1). In 1998 the company had membership... Show more

Premiums were typically paid on a monthly basis either by automatic charges to the member s
credit card or through employee payroll deductions. The premiums were generally guaranteed
renewable and noncancelable except for fraud, nonpayment of premiums, or upon written
request by a member. The annual membership persistency rate in 1998 was high; approximately
75% of members at the beginning of the year and new members during the year continued to be
enrolled in the program at the end of the year. At March 31 1999, PPLS had 648,475 active
members, and membership had been increasing at about 40% per year. PPLS marketed its
memberships through a multi level program that encouraged buyers to become salespeople.
Members that sought to become sales associates paid the company a fee, typically $65, to cover
the cost of training materials, training meetings, and home office support services. Registered
sales associates sold the company s services to their friends and business associates. The most
successful even recruited and developed their own sales force. In 1998 PPLS generated 76% of
its annual sales from the roughly 150,000 members registered as sales associates. The remaining
24% of sales were generated through arrangements with insurance and service companies with
established sales forces, such as CNA and Primerica Financial Services. Sales associates were
compensated on a commission basis (see Exhibit 3). Prior to 1995, associates that signed up a new

Intellectual Property Rights And Competition Law
AIM
Critical analysis on when the use of intellectual property rights turns into abuse of intellectual
property rights and further analysis on the trend of European competition authorities towards
Intellectual property rights with specific reference to what is reiterated in the Magill cases.
Introduction
Intellectual property rights and competition law both seem to intervene at different junctures;
however they work for attainment of one common goal that is consumer welfare. The reasons for
this contravention in most cases is that the reward given to creators and innovators is the right to
use and exclude others whereas when these rights are abused , competition law comes into the
scene. So there has always been a tiff between the both, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

interface of both within the legislation and then we will critically analyse the concept of abuse of
intellectual property rights as this is main conflict which revolves between both and further analyse
this concept in depth with the help of case study on the Magill cases and the trend followed by the
courts after that.
1. Intellectual Property
For much of human history the concept of intellectual property did not exist however due to the
wide spread progress and extension of international trade need for protection of intellectual property
is felt and this led to the Paris Convention for protection of industrial property followed by Berne
Convention and which led to the establishment of World Intellectual Property Organisation.

Political Dynamics Of Japan And Japan
Topic #11: Political Dynamics of Japan
The party politics of Japan, which is characterized by the dominance of the LDP close to One and
a half Party System, has two peculiar aspects. First, none of the parties, including the LDP, is truly
mass political movements. Even the LDP, Japan s largest party, has a membership of one million,
slightly more than 1% of the population. Second, all major parties, due to their factional intra party
politics, are unstable and internally disunited. Japan s 1.5 Party System began with the merger
between two conservative parties, the Liberal Party and Democratic Party and continued until 1993.

Also, there are extreme left and right wingers who fail to gain a broad support.
The bond between zaikai and the LDP politicians has remained strong throughout 60 years of the
party history. All of main economic federations such as Keidanren and Nikkeiren that represent
zaikai interests regularly present their position papers to LDP PMs and MPs, who reflect zaikai
interests in their policy decisions. Also, zaikai leaders directly influence government policies
through their participation in deliberation councils, half public, half private organizations set up by
ministries. In addition, zaikai leaders form personal connections to LDP politicians through having
them as their consultants with high payrolls or giving financial supports through koenkai, or
association of supporters.
A number of factors contributed to the downfall of LDP dominance from 1993 to 1996. The
first factor is the side effects from PM Takeo Miki s intra party reform in 1977. In order to clean
up factions within the party, make the party less dependent on zakai and make party leadership
more democratic, Miki introduced primary system. The first primary election held in 1978
showed that primary elections would not reduce the party s dependence on zaikai but actually
increase it, since candidates had to buy off voters and pay their registration fee instead. Also,
primary elections led to breakdown of party solidary and led to splintering of the LDP. Secondly,
demographic shifts also

Globalization By Arthur Macewan
Perhaps a clichГ© to mention, but an important aspect of human life which has brought the entire
race to where it stands today, is the very act and ability to communicate with each other; and finally
in the 19th century, this ability to communicate culminated to that process of ultimate human
integration which is known as globalization . Although the 19th centuryis considered as the
beginning of the kind of globalization that describes the modern world today, the process is
believed to have begun during the times of great voyages and discoveries. Arthur Macewan in his
essay What is Globalization (2001) wrote, Ever since Adam and Eve left the garden, people have
been expanding the geographic realm of their economic, political, social and cultural contacts....

Also, as a process of change that can embody both great opportunities of wealth and progress and
great trauma and suffering, globalization at the beginning of the 21st century is following a well
established historical path. Macewan further sketches a path of the process of globalization and
says that there are two very important surges of globalization in the modern era the first surge that
can be said to be the mark of the pronouncement of the modern era, came with the invasion of the
continent of Africa and Asia by the European powers; and the second surge took place in the 19th
century both as a product and cause of Industrial Revolution. Thus, this new socio economic
political trend that took over the world in the 19th century was however, not contended to the socio
economic political front only. Globalization as a global force influenced academic practices as
well; also the various disciplines of humanities started pondering more and more on the nature of
globalization and the influences that it have (and can further have) on all the aspects of human life

What Is The Theme Of The Big World By Tim Winton
Analyse how the beginning and/or end of the written text(s) emphasized the writer s purpose.
I want to be a superhero when I grow up! Just how common is this phrase? When we are young, it
is common to have limitless ambitions, but as we grow and adjust to reality, we are forced to
discover that some of these ambitions are unattainable. Often, this causes people to settle for less
instead of continuing to try chase their ambitions. This realisation and change of mindset is called

Informative Speech About Voodoo
It has been almost 6 months now that my girlfriend and I came back from a trip to New Orleans.
This is a town rich in history, amazing food, the locals were some of the friendliest people and
the music of the city truly seemed to act as a heartbeat that gave the city life. However,
something that truly caught my eye, were all the voodoo shops. One of their oldest cemeteries is
home to the tomb of the Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau. Unfortunately when we went, they weren t
giving tours. When most in modern society most hear the word Voodoo; they probably think
about what they ve seen on movies... witch doctors, dolls that are used to curse Indiana Jones in
the Temple of Doom or evil possession of people s bodies through spirits. However, that really isn t
the case, for a religionthat a lot of people really don t know a lot about, the religion of Voodoo or
Vodun. The name was derived from the god Vodun of the West African Yoruba people who lived
in 18th and 19th century Dahomey. The African people were shipped as slaves to Haiti and other
islands. Slaves practiced this religion but were also forced by the masters who owned them to
practice Christianity. Which if you fast forward to modern times, you will see that most adults in
Haiti and some cities in the Southern States of North America not only still practice Voodoo but
are also Roman Catholic. Though not a new religion, this religion has a lot of history and similar
beliefs of other religions. The interpretation of death and the afterlife is interesting. Before, I
touch on this its, important to know that community and the people is very important when it
comes to Voodoo as a religion. In the event of a death the community gets really involved, if a
loved one is dying, the family all tries to come together for prayer. People, who practice Voodoo,
don t believe that death is the end. When death occurs, they believe that certain rituals need to be
done to help the soul. Loved ones of the deceased perform a Rite of Reclamation which is to call
back the spirit. A priest or priestess, which are called houngan or mambo; serve as healers,
diviners, psychologists, counselors and spiritual leaders; help during this time to bring the spirit
back so they family can

Mining And The Hobbit
Mining and the Hobbit
In 1938 Disney came out with a movie called Snow White. The film featured seven dwarves that
had different personalities. One thing they had in common was that they liked to mine. Mining is
the removal or extraction of minerals and metals from the earth. In the movie, Snow White, they
gave an unrealistic look on what mining really is. They showed that mining is for mythical
creatures and that it s effortless work. Disney isn t the only one who gave an impractical look on
mining. J.R.R. Tolkien is also guilty of this. Mining, especially large scale mining, isn t all fun and
games. It can be very dangerous for miners and it takes a lot of hard labor. Even though large scale
mining can have good outcomes, it also has multiple effects on the environment and the human race.

in his childhood. Mining corporations cleared out land in England and it destroyed Tolkien s
childhood home. Tolkien added mining into one of his novels, the Lord of the Rings. In Lord of the
Rings, Tolkien creates a place called Middle earth. In Middle earth, there is an underground
complex called Moria. In Moria, there is a vast majority of mines where dwarves live and like to
mine. Even though Tolkien may have glossed over the thought of mining with great description
and imagery, mining can do a lot of harm and it s not a subject to falsify. Mining is an important

Impact of the Light Bulb and Cell Phone on Society
When one reflects on the past century, it is astonishing how much technology has evolved in every
sense. From light bulbs that lasted only ten hours, to bulbs that can now last over ten thousand
hours. From a simple cellular phone only capable of making phone calls, to today s smartphones
that have effectively changed the way we interact with one another. Although there will always be
opponents of technology, there is no denying that is has positively impacted modern society, and
the way we live, work, and communicate. Thomas Alva Edison In today s society, when a light
bulb goes out, we think nothing of it. It is easy to drive to the closest store, purchase the

Similar to the complexities of the Boeing 747 super jet , No single person can comprehend the
entire workings of a cell phone. The cell phone found in the pocket of the majority of citizens of
the world today include GPS, Wi Fi, 3G or 4G networks, LTE, high resolution cameras and
millions of downloadable user made applications to choose from. In fewer than 30 years, the cell
phone went from a rare device only attainable by the wealthiest of the population, to a device that
a large percentage of the population now owns. Whether on the streets of downtown Toronto, or
a small village in poverty stricken East Africa, it is becoming increasingly rare to find a person
who does not own a mobile device. Similar to the light bulb, the cell phone began as a modest
product with a modest purpose, and underwent multiple, complex revisions to result in the current
models manufactured today. If one examines the cell phone s impact on our culture, it is evident
that it has had both a positive and a negative impact on society. Without a doubt, the largest
positive impact has been its ability to make day to day life less complicated, and ultimately, easier.
Among a never ending list of examples are: the ability to set reminders for appointments, meetings

The Importance Of Bilingualism On Child Development
Due to the increased migration and globalization, the shift in linguistic demographics and the
advent of multiculturalism sparked researchers interest to investigate the cognitive mechanism
behind bilingualism. Whether bilingualism has significant imprint on the development is still
premature to conclude with absolute certainty. However, with rich theoretical background, growing
number of empirical evidence supports the undeniable perk of bilingualism in various realms of
cognitive development. Despite the on going debate over the benefit of bilingualism, bilingualism
became an emerging topic among researchers and scholars like Ellen Bialystok, Stephanie Carlson,
and Albert Costa have been conducting research exploring the mechanism of bilingualism and
executive functions. After all, Vygotsky also argued that bilingualism may have positive impact on
human mind (Vygotsky, 1962). On the one hand, patterning, an ability to extract the underlying rule
of a sequence and to predict by applying the rule, is a highly endorsed and utilized skill that received
relatively low attention from researchers. Surprisingly little is known about the mechanism behind
the patterning and its cognitive impact, and yet the educators and policy makers have implemented
patterning instruction for last several decades. Patterning has not been widely studied in the field of
developmental psychology despite of the importance. Vast majority of the literature comes from
mathematics education and

behaviours such as injection drug use on the individual and on society as a whole. Harm reduction
programs provide injection drug users with access to a clean injection environment, sterile
injections, drug preparation equipment and safe disposal of contaminated material at the time of
injection. Staff members in harm reductionfacilities provide health teaching, anonymous HIV

Staff also provide emergency response when needed immediately, and may call for support from

Sharing of needles used by injection drug users contributes heavily to the spread of blood borne
diseases, accounting for almost one third of new HIV infections outside sub Saharan Africa (Ball,
2007). Various studies support that blood borne disease transmission and contraction are strongly
linked to injection drug use. A study conducted by Semaan et al. that analyzed data of 10,301
persons who inject drugs in revealed that 32% had shared syringes during the 12 months prior
(Semaan et al., 2011). A second study involving 309 injection drug users found HIV, hepatitis B and
hepatitis C prevalence of 42.4%, 80.9%, and 74.1%, respectively. The study also revealed that
63.8% of the participants engaged in indirect sharing practices within six months prior.

  • 2. H. J Mccloskey Argument Eighteenth century Enlightenment philosophers believed that reason and science were the foundation of truth; thereby, tradition, faith, and superstition were becoming obsolete. They felt they were coming out of the darkness of medieval religion and into the light of reason. However, rather than discovering true liberation after killing God, they had only succeeded in orphaning themselves (Craig, 2008. P. 71). This dissertation will focus on the article On Being an Atheist written by Australian philosopher H.J. McCloskey in 1968. The purpose of his article was to establish, what he referred to as proofs against the existence of God. It is interesting that McCloskey refers to his grounds for evidence as proofs for according to Mark Foreman, who is Professor of Philosophy and Religion at Liberty University, proof carries with it connotations of certainty that actually originate from the field of mathematics and is not meant to be used regarding philosophical arguments pertaining to the existence of God. Theists cannot prove the existence of God 100%; ergo, the naturalists and atheists cannot provide 100% proof that God does not exist. Arguments are defeasible, they are not incorrigible, thus defeaters can be presented; therefore, the cumulative case approach of combining a number of arguments to make the case is the best ... The fine tuning argument is the strongest teleological argument; ergo, matter is so finely tuned for life possessing the innate capacity to appear on this planet. • 3. Women Within The Grecian Culture Ancient Greece as a place and period time in our extensive history was a place of patriarchal power, controlled almost entirely by the masculine sphere and association with the Gods. It was a time in history that produced some of the most famous thinkers however they were all men. Women within the Grecian culture where very much the passive sex, confined to housework and almost never educated. It is interesting therefore that the characters that have emerged at the exposure of the phallic philosophical pen still remain as an ally to the feminist movement and are relevant to our way of thinking today, acting as feminist pioneers both in theory and literature, helping the canon evolve years after being written. At a time where scientific... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Medea, the Gorgon monster who seduces men, turning them to stone and Antigone who is arguably still one of the most powerful images we have of female strength to date. In their own right and agency, they all act as feminist pioneers Sophocles Antigone, along with Medea are potentially the best example we have for how Myth has shaped and developed the feminist movement. Sophocles drama Antigone, written around 441 BCE, is one of his three Theban plays that chronicle the dark fortunes of the house of Oedipus, king of Thebes. After Oedipus death, there is a struggle over the kingship between his two sons Eteocles and Polyneices. The army of Polyneices marches on Thebes and is defeated, but both brothers are killed in the battle. The new ruler, Creon, decrees that whereas Eteocles will be buried with full honours for defending the city, the rebel Polyneices must be denied holy rites and left to rot in the field and if anyone disobeys him they are to be punished by death. The state and patriarchy take high place within the novel as it does in many Grecian teaching places. The play was used to teach the subjects of the citadel about respect for the law and respect for society. We must therefore ask questions concerning the place of a feminine tragic hero, and the effect that it would have had. Antigone as a rebellious character raises ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Semiotic Analysis of Teenage Magazine Front Covers SiГўn Davies In this essay I will hope to analyse the semiotic codes of the front covers of teenage magazines to demonstrate how the media constructs the image and behavioural ideology of the teenage girl. I will analyse issue 359 of More! (December 27 th 2001 January 8th 2002) and compare it with the January 2002 edition of 19. I have chosen these specific texts as they are popular mainstream magazines that are available in most newsagents, and therefore arguably represent to the reader what constitutes the modern teenage girl. These are also the most recent issues available for analysis and therefore demonstrate an up to date representation of constructed femininity in our media and society. Jonathan Bignell (1997) argues that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These assumptions pervade the contents of mainstream teenage magazines, with features such as Position of the Fortnight and Celebrity Hair Special frequently appearing within the pages. This is the reader to whom most teenage magazines cater they broadcast to a stereotypical mass (which is arguably an artificial representation and does not reflect the identities and lives of all teenage girls). In order to analyse the image and behavioural ideology of the teenage girl offered within teenage magazines, I will attempt to investigate some semiotic codes within More! and 19. The front cover is an important aspect of the magazine as it initially attracts the reader and is a taster of what can be seen within the contents of the magazine. It is an important advertisement and serves to label its possessor (McLoughlin 2000: 5). This is certainly a factor that influences the purchasing behaviours of young teenage girls who attempt to appear more mature and more sexually knowledgeable by buying a magazine aimed at girls 4 or 5 years their senior. The front cover will also promise that the contents of the magazine... will fulfil the needs of the individual and her group and sells a future image of the reader as happier, more desirable (Bignell 1997: 67). By merely looking at the front cover of a magazine therefore, a potential reader will be able ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pico Iyer expounds on his various experiences with traveling across the world and its transformative power on your worldview in Why We Travel . Alfred Hitchcocktells the tale of an established business man, rich with opinions, status, and money, who gets thrown into an adventure because of a case mistaken identity in North by Northwest. She alludes that he is a heavy drinker by asking about how much he drank when he called her. Skeptical of her own son s stories, she also tells him to just pay the two dollars for his fine. This shows several things; first, she is extremely wealthy by her lack of sense of how expensive fines are, and second, getting drunk and having wild nights might be a common occurrence for Thornhill, as she appears exasperated and used to his unruly behavior. With no one, not even his closet family, to believe him, Robert Thornhill s reputation began to be destroyed. One thing about this genre is that all the artists literally create the music and do not simply copy and paste in their books, it is their own vocals that makes it really interesting. This genre is not my personal preference as I think dance music is much better, but this video stands up to the mark and proves that there is a lot of meaning to it. The video conveys a strong message about the rebellious nature of the people and they should stand against the government, as the artist himself is wearing all black with a red neck tie and asks for a new agenda because he does not want war anymore and asks the people to stand up and question themselves if they want to be a part of a useless ... Saul Silver from the movie Pineapple Express has a silly personality, which I believe is a characteristic that I posses as well. • 8. Energy Of Renewable Energy Sources Essay In recent years many endeavors have been devoted to reduce the pollutant energy generation by increasing the utilization of clean energy sources. Actually, the power sector is responsible for roughly a quarter of anthropogenic CO2 emissions [1]. Thus, the widespread introduction of renewable energy sources is seen to be one of the major solutions. Meanwhile, fossil fuelbased power plants will still be needed. In any case, fully abstaining from the use of fossil fuels is difficult. Nevertheless, fossil fuel resources are ultimately finite and the goal should be to shift to renewable energysources gradually. Due to its effective role in clean energy generation, microgrid structure is increasingly utilized in power systems, nowadays [2]. Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and Renewable Energy Sources (RESs) as environment friendly sources of energy are the key players to this goal [3]. Microgrid as an aggregator manages power scheduling of DERs and RESs to serve sustainably and reliably through energy management system (EMS) [4], [5]. Employing EMS, microgrid not only alleviates undesirable impacts of intermittencies pertained to RESs, DERs and load, but also provides secure energy services according to smart grid provisional objectives [6],[7]. EMS is in charge of synchronization with the main grid, voltage and frequency control through power balancing and preserving secure operational margins [8],[9],[10],[11],[12]. This song was the anthem of the 70 s and still, our anthem today. Nothing compares to the harmonies and musicianship put into this song. Queen released Bohemian Rhapsody on October 31, 1975. This song was greeted like a gift from heaven in the largely desolated musical ground of the mid 70s Freddie Mercury is the writer of the song also pianist and a lead vocalist in Queen. He wrote the song in his apartment whilst he was trying to develop a complex song using a structure that leans towards a more classical approach. In the studio, the band embraced the psychedelic and progressive elements (which were initiating throughout this era) and took them to another level. Bohemian Rhapsody was nothing more than their simple their simple instrumental line up of Guitar, Bass, Piano and Drums. However, they played them like they were something completely new and in doing so; Queen delivered a new revolution of rock music. Thrown into the period of glam, it was no surprise when Queen s elegance earned them a glam rocker tag. The title of the song has a powerful ideology. The word Bohemian could be traced to the practice of an untraditional lifestyle. I believe the song has something to do with Freddie coming out as a homosexual. In that era, it was not a normal thing and therefore majority of people were against it. Interestingly enough the song has not got a chorus, but just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This past semester I was required to create four major papers including Rhetorical Analysis Essay, Annotated Bibliography, Exploratory Essay, and the Researched Position Paper. Each of these papers entailed vigorous researchand time. My writing has progressively improved throughout the semester in quoting, summarizing, and paraphrasing source material, as well as choosing academic appropriate sources; however, I must strive to improve in general writing skills covering organization, style, diction, grammar, and mechanics. I felt that I did well on the third course objective of synthesizing ethically summarized, paraphrased, and quoted source material into academic arguments. Therefore, as he uses geometric shapes, we can find a same draw style in Matisse s paint and Picasso too. Of course, Picasso had influenced from that style, but he used to exaggerate more these geometric shapes! In fact, between paints of Joy of Life and The Large Bathers, for example we find similarities as both of them used a landscape in their paints, then in both works trees are planted at the sides and in the far distance, and their upper boughs are spread apart like curtains, highlighting the figures lounging beneath. In addition, like CГ©zanne, Matisse unifies the figures and the landscape. CГ©zanne does this by stiffening and tilting his trunk like figures. In Matisse s work, the serpentine arabesques that define the contours of the women are heavily emphasized, and then reiterated in the curvilinear lines of the trees .(1)( HenriMatisse.org,nd) Regarding Picasso s paint, critics says that this paint was done in reaction of Matisse s paint. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Low Dollar Purchase System What is Low Dollar Purchase System In order for lower departments and supervisors to make purchase of products and services that are required for day to day operations the low dollar purchase system was developed. Of course, this system has regulations on the amounts so the products/services are limited to a cost authorized by the company, which eliminates the long process to make small purchases. With companies like PPL, it is a must to have the low dollar purchase system in place because they work 24/7, therefore PPL uses the following approaches for reducing the effort and transactions required to process low value purchases: (1). User negotiated and issued service contracts: for PPL this approach works for the field users to negotiate and issue orders up to $50,000 contracted service and $3,000 for the materials, which helps out tremendously because they are a 24/7 company. (2). Local purchase orders: this approach is ideal for miscellaneous items that do not have a corporate contractor another method that covers the purchase. Local purchase orders are used for the local suppliers with a maximum limit of $1,000 and completed with numbered forms. (3). Significance of the Night of the Long Knives for Hitler s Power In the interwar years of 1933 to 1939, Europe saw the rise of Nazi Germany, which was to become the capstone of the inter war period, and led to the eruption of World War II, shattering the fragile peace overseen by the League of Nations. But how did a party that was in a state of political decline manage this? The Nazi regime s advancement was paralleled by the life of its leader, Adolf Hitler, who perfected his oratorical skills and worked for the advancement of the Nazi party. Such advancement was slow in coming through the years 1925 to 1929, a fairly stable period in Europe. However, as the world became hindered in depression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the Decree of the Reich President for the Protection of People and State, Hitler could justify his actions under the Decree by saying that it was a state of emergency and that it would be repealed when the emergency passed. However it was never repealed while the Nazis were in power. With the powers that this gave to the Nazis, the Reichstag Fire Decree was, in effect, the foundation of Nazi rule. The decree led to the legal persecution of political rivals, such as members of the Communist party, the KPD. Even so, the Nazis only won 43.9 percent of the electorate vote in 1933. Essay On French Withdrawal From Indochina Writer Virginia Thompson quoted, If France had not been victorious in the (First) World War it is no exaggeration to say that she would never have been able to keep Indo China. It is also no exaggeration to say that France s disastrous defeats in the early part of World War II were to be a major factor in France s ultimate loss of its Indochinese colonies of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. Various reasons account for the withdrawal of the French from Indochina (Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia) by 1954. Since the start of the French Colonization of Indochina around 1893, tension was present in both parties which was only deepened by the series of occurrences and notions that followed. • 21. Romantic Love Definition Essay Throughout the world, there are numerous ways to express and show love to the ones we care about. However, what does love truly mean? There are numerous forms of love, but how can you define romantic love? People tend to agree and disagree about the definition of this type of love, and cannot come to a concise conclusion of what it means. Erich Fromm states that mature love includes: care, responsibility, respect, and knowledge. As I have interviewed people of different ages and marital status, I found that everyone who I had interviewed had a similar idea to what romantic love is. Nevertheless, those who have been married for over twenty years seemed to have a deeper knowledge of what love is than those who are young and single. Although... For example, my Grandpa, who has been married to my Grandma for fifty three years, explained that love is unconditional and that you must be willing to sacrifice for the person you care about so things can work out. On the other hand, when I asked my male eighteen year old friend what love is, he said that love is the feeling of care towards someone. Although the answers were similar, the content within their answers were different. My grandpa seemed to have an extensive comprehension of what love is, while my young male friend did not have that knowledge of what love truly is and what it can be. • 22. The Bluest Eye Rhetorical Devices English 1, Cornerstone 2: Chart 1.2 Write your essay below. One of Toni Morrison s nationally bestsellers, The Bluest Eye, uses contrasts to introduce and develop central ideas about truth and beauty. Specifically, Morrison uses the perceived bad, false, and ugly to illuminate the good, the true, and the beautiful. For example, she juxtaposes the idea of a perfect, ideal home where things live happily and grow bountifully with the idea of a run down, impoverished home where people simply survive circumstances and seeds do not grow in nature. Morrison again uses repetition when she emphasizes the lack of growth in nature when she again mentions marigolds did not grow...our seeds were not the only ones that did not sprout; nobody s did (5). Also, the characters in this section seem to feel a plethora of emotions: children were deeply concerned , the narrator feels guilt when seeds don t sprout (as if it was her fault ), and Cholly Breedlove... innocence... At once an impetus for action and an existential fear, the complex role of death is especially evident in the aftermath of Enkidu s demise, which forces Gilgamesh to confront his own relationship to mortality. This confrontation ultimately reveals a central dissonance within Gilgamesh, as a king and warrior, he wields near absolute power over his enemies and subjects, yet he is impotent to prevent the death of Enkidu. A major aspect of Gilgamesh s reaction to the loss of Enkidu s is his desire to circumvent death, thereby asserting power over it. African American and White women had similar political positions and rights besides the fact that white women could own slaves with their family. Abolitionist and anti slavery movements arose along with the thought that people should rally to abolish slavery and give free slaves rights. The first convention dedicated to women s rights was in Seneca Falls, New York in 1848. It spanned both the 19th and 20th of July. This convention was run by two women, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott and organized by Mary M Clintock. This event attracted approximately one three hundred people, the majority being women. At this convention a modified draft of the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence was drawn and stated, We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men and women are created equal. The title of this modification is known to be Declaration of Sentiments, Grievances, and Resolutions , written by Elizabeth Stanton. Thirteen resolutions were made including that a man should not withhold a woman s rights, take her property or refuse to allow her to vote, and sacred right of franchise. The revision of the Declaration of Independence received signatures from female and male supporters. Sixty eight of the signers were women and 32 were men, including Frederick Douglass. Although the Seneca Falls Convention was the first women s rights convention in America, it was inspired by the World Anti Slavery Convention in 1840 in London. This convention invited women but did not allow them to speak their opinions. Lucretia Mott expressed the hypocrisy of this in her diary and thus sparked the beginning of the fight for ... They built various temples for many of their gods, but only the two most honored had a temple at the top of the Templo Mayor, meaning temple major, which was located at the center of Tenochtitlan. The astounding pyramid was built in 1325 to honor the sun god Huitzilopochtli and the rain god Tlaloc (Ancient 1). The Templo Mayor is believed to have been around 300 ft. high with two temples at it s peak for their gods (McDowell 768). The Aztecs built many other pyramids with a temple at the top, but the factor that determined an important pyramid was if the pyramid had a roof made of wooden beams forming a point (Morgan 15). The average Aztec temple was approximately 200 ft. that rose in terraces with a broad stairway leading to the top (Morgan 15). Art for the Aztecs was a way to honor their gods, and for their own aesthetic pleasure. The artisans would organize themselves into guilds based on what they were skilled in. Through metalwork, the Aztecs would make metal objects by beating thin pieces of gold, silver, or copper, or they would make ornaments and jewelry by pouring molten gold into basic molds. Their lapidaries carved and polished bright colored gems, such as jade, turquoise, and quartz, to create mosaics and jewelry, or to decorate objects such as clothing and weapons. A Clean Well-Lighted Place Waiter In A Clean, Well Lighted Place, it seems as if the young waiter resembles Henry because he is young and the most masculine from the other characters involved; he only thinks of what he wants. For example, when the deaf old man wants another round of brandy the young waiter feels sleepy and says, I never get into bed before three o clock. He should have killed himself last week. The waiter took the brandy bottle and another saucer from the counter inside the cafe and marched out to the old man s table. He put down the saucer and poured the glass full of brandy. So when he arrives at the bar he feels safe and a little foolish for scaring himself and smiles. But by him memorizing parts of the prayer he has very little faith. Although the 19th centuryis considered as the beginning of the kind of globalization that describes the modern world today, the process is believed to have begun during the times of great voyages and discoveries. This is a town rich in history, amazing food, the locals were some of the friendliest people and the music of the city truly seemed to act as a heartbeat that gave the city life. However, something that truly caught my eye, were all the voodoo shops. One of their oldest cemeteries is home to the tomb of the Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau. Unfortunately when we went, they weren t giving tours. When most in modern society most hear the word Voodoo; they probably think about what they ve seen on movies... witch doctors, dolls that are used to curse Indiana Jones in the Temple of Doom or evil possession of people s bodies through spirits. However, that really isn t the case, for a religionthat a lot of people really don t know a lot about, the religion of Voodoo or Vodun. The name was derived from the god Vodun of the West African Yoruba people who lived in 18th and 19th century Dahomey. The African people were shipped as slaves to Haiti and other islands. Slaves practiced this religion but were also forced by the masters who owned them to practice Christianity. Which if you fast forward to modern times, you will see that most adults in Haiti and some cities in the Southern States of North America not only still practice Voodoo but are also Roman Catholic. Though not a new religion, this religion has a lot of history and similar beliefs of other religions. The interpretation of death and the afterlife is interesting. Before, I touch on this its, important to know that community and the people is very important when it comes to Voodoo as a religion. In the event of a death the community gets really involved, if a loved one is dying, the family all tries to come together for prayer. The Importance Of Bilingualism On Child Development Due to the increased migration and globalization, the shift in linguistic demographics and the advent of multiculturalism sparked researchers interest to investigate the cognitive mechanism behind bilingualism. Whether bilingualism has significant imprint on the development is still premature to conclude with absolute certainty. However, with rich theoretical background, growing number of empirical evidence supports the undeniable perk of bilingualism in various realms of cognitive development. Despite the on going debate over the benefit of bilingualism, bilingualism became an emerging topic among researchers and scholars like Ellen Bialystok, Stephanie Carlson, and Albert Costa have been conducting research exploring the mechanism of bilingualism and executive functions. After all, Vygotsky also argued that bilingualism may have positive impact on human mind (Vygotsky, 1962). On the one hand, patterning, an ability to extract the underlying rule of a sequence and to predict by applying the rule, is a highly endorsed and utilized skill that received relatively low attention from researchers. Surprisingly little is known about the mechanism behind the patterning and its cognitive impact, and yet the educators and policy makers have implemented patterning instruction for last several decades.
