Essay On Personal Development
Writing an essay on personal development can be a challenging yet rewarding task. The
difficulty lies in the intricacies of introspection and self-analysis that the topic demands. Unlike
more objective subjects, personal development necessitates a deep dive into one's own
experiences, thoughts, and emotions. It involves reflecting on personal strengths and
weaknesses, setting goals, and outlining the steps for self-improvement.
Crafting an effective essay on personal development requires not only a keen understanding of
oneself but also the ability to articulate those insights coherently. It involves striking a delicate
balance between humility and confidence, acknowledging areas for growth while showcasing a
commitment to continuous improvement. Expressing personal experiences, challenges faced, and
lessons learned adds a layer of authenticity to the essay, making it more relatable and impactful.
Moreover, the subjectivity of personal development makes it challenging to create a one-size-fits-
all approach. Each individual's journey is unique, making it difficult to provide universal advice
that applies to everyone. The writer must tailor their essay to resonate with the reader,
considering diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
Despite the challenges, composing an essay on personal development offers an opportunity for
self-discovery and growth. It encourages the writer to delve into their own experiences, fostering
a deeper understanding of their values, aspirations, and the path they wish to pursue. The
reflective nature of the essay can be therapeutic, allowing individuals to confront obstacles and
formulate strategies for overcoming them.
In conclusion, writing an essay on personal development is a complex task that demands
introspection, honesty, and a willingness to embrace vulnerability. It involves navigating the fine
line between self-assessment and self-promotion, making it both a challenging and enriching
endeavor.
For those seeking assistance with essays or looking for professionally crafted pieces on a variety

Omelas Moral Standards
As a citizen of Omelas, I would consider myself fortunate to have been brought up
in such a prosperous city. However, knowing how my future is guarded by the
harm and torture done to one innocent child, I would never entirely consider myself
lucky. Due to the standards that my parents raised me and the moral values that I
grew up to defend, I would never be happy knowing that my well being is
dependant on the maltreatment of someone else. Considering that the torture dealt
is done so without the permission of that child, I would feel even worse about it. At
a certain extent, those living in Omelas who know about the child that suffers for
their well being do bear a blame. Some people in the city are helpless due to the fear
of losing the prosperity
Diabetic Absorbance
According to the experiment results the hypothesis was proven to be correct. The
diabetics did indeed have a higher absorbance level than the non diabetics. It was
made clear that the rate at which a diabetic digests their meal is slower than a non
diabetic. It proves that fact that without sugar, the body could not function properly
because there would not be enough glucosein the body to provide energy in order to
make ATP. Without the main ingredient to make ATP the body would die. This fact
leads to the understanding as to why people with diabetes in third world countries are
dying because they cannot get the insulinneeded in order to help their bodies make
ATP and function (Khunti).
As seen in figure one it is clear that it takes a diabetic longer to return to their pre
meal value because it takes longer to break ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Also the diabetic would reach the maximum blood glucose level quicker because
they could not break down the glucose in the food as quick as the non diabetic
could. As seen in figure 1 it is clear that a person with diabetics has almost double
the absorbance level compared to the non diabetics. The data in figure 1 shows the
absorbance over time for diabetics and non diabetics. Looking deeper into the
meaning of why the absorbance is higher in the diabetic people it is known to be
because of the buildup of glucose in the bloodstream. This buildup leads to less
glucose being able to pass through and thus taking the diabetic longer to get back
to the pre meal value. The effects of T2D can lead to this buildup and cause
cardiovascular disorders, hypertension, and death. Diabetes still not be taken lightly
for this very reason. Unlike T2D patients type 1 diabetics(T1D) are at a greater risk
because their body does not produce insulin at all, thus making it harder to maintain
and regulate. T1D s are always having to check
Amy Tan s Language In The Immigrant Family
It is a well known fact that children acquire language through their environment.
From the time of birth, they are exposed to many different phonetics which allow
them to shape words and form language. As parents and families utilize specific
words as symbols for different concepts and ideas, children learn that they must use
these to communicate their desires. This is evident in everyday life, for example
those born in different parts of the world, who grow up hearing a predominant
language, grow up speaking that language with all of the same particular nuances,
slangs and variations that are present. Therefore, Amy Tan s claim that the language
spoken in the family, especially in the immigrant families, plays a large role in
shaping the language of the child, is definitely viable.... Show more content on

Tan s assertion that my family did and does influence my language. From infancy,
the main language spoken in my home was Punjab with all of my immediate family
members being fluent with their version of words, sentence structure, and grammar.
Although, my parents did try to incorporate some English, my grandparents only
spoke Punjabi and since they were the primary care givers it was their influence
that most affected me and my sister. Although, my parents spoke English and also
conversed with us, it was usually only for few moments before bedtime. But even
with just that little bit of influence there are still words within my vocabulary that
they and I only understand. Of course, some of this vocabulary is not used with
anyone other than my family. Sometimes however, a particular accent or emphasis
on a word that was stressed by my parents comes through in my syntax as I speak to
friends, co workers and

The Hungry Bird
Good Morning ladies and gentlemen. May I have your attention please?
Passengers travelling on Emirates flight EK 547 flying to Dubai may proceed to
board the aircraft. The time is finally up! Excitement exploded as if an extinct
volcano erupted all of a sudden. I hurriedly walked through the boarding bridge
with each atom bomb erupting into excitement, as I took each step towards the
aircraft. Hello, and welcome aboard, may I see your boarding pass please? said a
beautiful looking angel in a sweet voice. I was ushered to my seat with my seat
belt fastened. Ladies and gentlemen, I kindly request you to take your seats and
fasten your seatbelts as we are preparing for take off. Cabin Crew prepare for take

stomping heartbeats as I felt myself go all the way up, up and above.
Cabin crew prepare for landing, and a few minutes later welcome to Dubai
International Airport, where the local time is 8.am in the morning and the outside
temperature is 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Hooray, it s finally here! My nerves charged
up and lit me bright from the inside like a fluorescent bulb. I went out of the airport
to the bus waiting outside. It felt like I was thrown into a planet outside of the
universe. What an exotic view! The tall buildings stared at me with their frightening
shadows casted over me like cops surrounding a criminal. An amazing fact was that

Narrative Essay On Coptic Americans
As we pulled into 145 Oak Street, Natick, MA on Christmas Eve 2011, instead of
being greeted by fellow church parishioners, we were greeted by armored soldiers
equipped with M4 Carbine assault rifles. Instead of Honda Odysseys and Ford
Focuses filling the adjacent parking lot, a giant tank loomed over the empty spots. I
was only twelve and was very confused. I had never experienced such trouble simply
going to church any other Sunday. What made this time so different? Now, flashback
almost two weeks. Since the Coptic calendar is arranged to celebrate Christmas on
January 7, this would be around the time of Western Christmas. Tensions in Egypt
were on the rise, and the Coptic community could sense that something was going to
happen. Unfortunately, something did. On New Year s Eve 2011, twenty three
Coptic Orthodox Christians were killed in an attack on a church in Alexandria and a
hundred more were injured. Despite the attack taking place over five thousand miles
away, I felt that they were not only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Years of persecution have seen babies snatched from their mothers and churches
burned to the ground before the eyes of those who worshiped there just last Sunday.
Yet the Coptic community remains united and stronger than ever. I never truly
realized the potential power of this strength until I witnessed it first hand. In an effort
to learn more about my Coptic origins, I set out on my own personal journey. When I
went to Egypt this past summer, I found the stories of the Coptic people painted on
the walls of the ancient churches. These walls had been scratched, shot at, burned,
and defaced throughout years of Christian persecution, but they still stood tall. These
murals have survived the test of time because they hold the stories of those whose
strength transcended the body. Their stories, passed on from one generation to the
next, are, in essence, written in
Target Stakeholders Analysis
The company also wants their stakeholders to be involved in the business, as well as
be happy with the decision making process. Although a company may want their
stakeholders to be included, they may have various levels of inclusion that may
differ for every stakeholder. Motivation in stakeholder engagement means keeping
the stakeholders motivated potentially increases profitability and productivity for
your company... Determine how you want them involved and the level of motivation

Conflict could be caused by a disagreement on business decisions or on who has the
most power. Target has a positive relationship with their stakeholders thus far, or they
at least have a good public relations team. However, based off Target s website, they
do have a positive relationship with their shareholders because they have put so
much information out in the world on why they have the shareholders that they
do. The reason why Target is so public about their business is because of how their
organizational culture is handled. The company s culture makes for a great place
to work and their shareholders are a major part of that. As America s second largest
retailer, we stay ahead in today s ultra competitive retail market by challenging
ourselves to become more efficient and more intelligent, providing guests with the
best shopping experience possible. The pace is fast, the atmosphere is fun and the
people are friendly. Every team member is encouraged to innovate, contribute ideas
and discover solutions as an important part of a world class team. This also plays a
part in Target s diverse team and the emphasis they have on having diversity in their
company. Target has specific areas with their shareholders that are just for diversity
and the power that they have within them has helped the company out tramendously.

Compare And Contrast Hinduism And Christianity
In the world of billions of people how many of us are going to be the same? People
will perceive the world in their own way. One person may see the world perfect,
while others see nothing but the end. Is everyone going to be different? Not
necessarily, many others will share the same beliefs but that could mean more
varieties will be created. Once one person believes a certain path they may choose
to believe in that belief or even believe living is the path to happiness. However, one
chooses to perceive their own world, they may or may not be right. Just like in
religionpeople follow their belief but what they choose may not be the honest path.
Some have common similarities but many differences as well. Hinduismand
Christianity have many resemblances between one another and how their Gods are,
even with the view that they are extremely different, especially in the way that
Hinduism has many Gods compared to Christianity and how they both reach
salvation. There s much talking about religions and faith in the world today.
Everywhere people will find others that are indifferent about Godand faith, one will
find people that are obsessed with anti religion propaganda and others will find
people that live their lives according to what they believe and what they declare.
Religion is defined as a system of human thought which usually includes a set of
narratives, symbols, beliefs and practices that give meaning to the practitioner s
experiences of life through reference to a

is because the company is about computers and high technology can totally represent
the meaning.
B. Target Market:
At the point of Q1,I chose the workhorse as my first target segment. This is because
workhouse is the medium kind of computer, customers will be much more than the
other two. People talked about easy to use, low price, after sale service and support
and other staffs to pick computers.

Rights of Indigenous Australians
The law recognizes that specific groups in society are permitted to have specific
rights. Individuals in traditional homelands have the right to determine the
application of health, education and welfare entitlements, free from government
regulation and discrimination. However the rights Indigenous Australians are entitled
to are not being completely abided by and therefore white law is being used as a tool
of discrimination to Indigenous Australians.
Before the case of Eddie Mabo, Indigenous Australian s ancestral lands that they
were raised on were claimed for British purposes and benefits. After crossing paths
with land rights advocates and legal minds, Eddie Mabo became of crucial
importance to Indigenous Australian land law. Mabo was looking to seek a retreat
from injustice concerning Indigenous Australians right to the land. After a ten year
legal battle, often referred to as the Mabo Case, six out seven High Court Judges
ruled that: The Meriam people are entitled as against the whole world, to
possession, occupation, use and enjoyment of the lands of the Murray Islands . By
showing that the Indigenous owned land as individuals and as families, and had
clearly demarcated property boundaries, Mabo s battle for land rights proved
successful. This succession paved the way for fair land rights for Australia s
Indigenous people.
The Stronger Futures aims to help the Indigenous persons of remote communities in

Research Paper On John Carpenter
A great way to pass the time is to watch a John Carpenter movie. It has a great story
line, easy to follow, and parent s with young children can watch this film if they can
differentiate costumes. It has loads of action, weapons, magicians, sorcery, magical
elements and mystical beings. There is no blood and gore, just minimal scenes of
bone breaking. The movie has a bunch of loveinterest but no nudity or adult content;
just a high point of a love tango between Kurt Russel and Kim Cattrall characters
throughout the movie, passionate kisses, and women in lingerie. They have great
use of special effects but some scenes where cheesy. I wish they did not make Kurt
Russel character as much of an idiot and loner, this would have made the love story
Reminiscence of Birches
Reminiscence of Birches Robert Frost s Birches is a poem that makes incites
towards the shortness of one s life. In the poem, Frost reminisces on his childhood,
and remembers it all too well. The poem is meant to help the reader to reflect on his
/her own life and leave them wanting to treasure moments of the present more
intensely. The poem encourages its readers to think about what great things lay
ahead, while looking at the positive side of life. Although Frost knew the tree
branches were bent because of the ice storms, he liked to look at things in a more
analytical way. Throughout the poem, Frost imagines that a young boy would play
on the birchtrees and climb Toward heaven, till the tree could bear no more (Line
56). Frost intends for his readers to look at things in a brighter perspective. It is
obvious that the author has gotten old, and feels as if time went by too fast. Frost
highlights the fact that the character longs to return to the time when he was a
young boy, swinging on trees. Robert Frost uses Birches to express melancholy
towards growing old and accepting death. The life of Robert Frost brought many
disappointments and eventually accomplishments. Mr. Frost s life began on March
26, 1874 in San Francisco, California. During his childhood, he experienced the
sadness and abuse of an alcoholic father. When he was only eleven years old, his
father died at the young age of 34. As a young boy Frost played baseball, trapped
animals and climbed
Harry Truman s Life And Accomplishments
Harry Truman was born in Lamar Missouri on May 8 1884 to Mattie and John
Anderson Truman. Harry Truman s mother and father were unable to decide on his
middle name: the two names considered where first name of Mattie s father,
Solomon, and the first name of John s father, Shipp. Following a practice not
uncommon among those of Scotch Irish ancestry, Mattie and John Truman gave
their son the one letter middle name of S . Harry s early years were spent on Mattie
s father s farm, and Grandpa Young adored the boy. No doubt Grandpa Young s
fondness of the child contributed to the contentment he enjoyed during his boyhood,
the carefree circumstances that led Truman in his later years to become fond of

Jimmy s father was James Pendergast, known as Alderman Jim, the founder of the
Pendergast dynasty and overlord in Kansas City s political machine. Harry
accepted the Pendergast s offer to run for eastern judge in Jackson County, a
courthouse job in Independence. Despite the title, the position was administrative
rather than judicial and held some control over the disposition of municipal funds.
Truman won the 1922 election, but lost in his 1924 re election bid. The county
courthouse was home to three judgeships : the eastern judge, the position Truman
held from 1922 24, the wester judge, and the presiding judge. In 1926 Truman ran

African American males and mass incarceration. Racial Critiques of Mass
Incarceration: Beyond the New Jim Crow, is a scholarly article that examines and
critiques mass incarceration as well as the analogy of the Criminal Justice system
being the new Jim Crow. In The New Jim Crow, Alexander asserts that Jim Crow and

Blacks and whites who have dropped out of high school are ten times more likely
to be incarcerated than those who have attended college. An African American
man with some college education, the lifetime chance of going to prison actually
decreased slightly. A black man born in the late 1960s who dropped out of high
school has a 59% chance of going to prison in his lifetime whereas a black man
who attended college has only a 5% chance. White men born in the late 1960s, the
lifetime risk of imprisonment is more than ten times higher for those who dropped
out of high school than for those who attended some amount of college.
Washington, D.C., is the nation s only majority black jurisdiction that controls
sentencing policy yet, despite these external forces, local black elected officials
exert considerable power over crime policy and have the ability to push back
against federal actors. The Old Jim Crow, was a series of legal restrictions, backed
by state and private violence, imposed on black people by the white majority.
When given the opportunity, blacks rejected it. According to Professor Forman, like
a black person living under the Old Jim Crow, a convicted criminal today becomes a
member of a stigmatized caste, condemned to a lifetime of second class citizenship.
Longer sentences has been a major cause of mass incarceration. Thus, changing how
governments respond to all crime, not just drug crime, is critical to reducing the size
of prison

I.GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION The kingdom of Saudi Arabia is located in the
Southwest of the continent of Asia, with approximately 29.196 million people as
explained by the world population statistics in 2013 (1). The percentage of the
population over 60 years olds is expected to rise by 7% by the 2020 (2). A proper
understanding of the structure and infrastructure of the oral healthcare system in
Saudi Arabia is substantial in order to improve the existing oral health policies and
the outcomes in the country. Certainly, Saudi Arabia had shown a remarkable

rising age of our nation s population and for the demand of quality health care
delivery in the primary care setting. The state of Arizona will have one of the largest
demand for primary care providers in the nation, with an anticipated 40.5% shortage
of primary care providers (Van Vleet Paradise, 2014). I am fortunate to be completing
an accredited Family Nurse PractitionerProgram at such an opportunistic time,
advancing my nursing practice. This paper will outline steps I will take in
preparation for the National Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).

My View Of America In Today s Society
In today s society each person has a different vision of what America is, should be
or even what it could be. The visions I have for America may be different from
others. It includes visions about what I think of America, the freedom of America,
the relationship of America and other countries, and the religion of people in
America. The first thing I am going to explain is, What do I think of America?
America has people that take care of their community like cleaning up after
themselves, by greeting new people in the community that are from a different state
or even country. The second idea is Freedom of America. We have freedom today
because we have people in all branches of the military such as: Coast Guard, Marines,

Imagery is incredibly crucial to stories and their plots. It helps the reader vividly
imagine what is being written in their mind and make it seem as if they are a
character in the story. A piece of literature that has incredible examples of imagery
is The Most Dangerous Game, written by Richard Connell. The imagery in this story
appeals to all five senses while also contributing to the plot. There are examples of
imagery that appeals to three out of the five senses and also contributes to the plot of
the story The Most Dangerous Game. To restate, the author uses imagery to develop
the plotline. One sense that the author incorporates into the literature work The Most
Dangerous Game is smell. The author states, ...and the night breeze brought him the
perfume of the general s cigarette. This imagery is important to the plotline because
it tells when Rainsford smells General Zaroff. Without this piece of imagery, the
author would not have let the readers know that Rainsford smelled Zaroff
approaching. To summarize, the author uses the imagery of smell to let the readers
know what is going on.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of imagery in the text is the sense sound. The author used the sense
of sound to create imagery so that the reader can imagine what is going on. The
author reports, He knew his pursuer was coming; He heard the padding sound of
feet on the soft earth. This is an example of imagery because Rainsford described
what he heard so that the reader could imagine what sound he heard. This is
important to the plot line because the main part of the story revolves on not getting
found and to stay alive. If he can hear the padding of his pursuers feet than he might
lose the game. Therefore the sense of sound is incorporated into the literature to help
develop the plot of the
Symbolism In Jane Eyre
In Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre spends her childhood, along with part
of her adulthood, trying to find a true family. The Victorian novel is narrated by
Jane, past and present, and lets the reader in on what Jane is thinking and how she
reacts internally. Jane begins narrating her life at Gateshead and ends the novel at
the manor house of Ferndean. Jane visits several places in between and encounters
many people, good and bad. As Jane meets new people, she assesses them,
checking to see if they are worthy of being the family she has been searching for.
Bronte conveys that Jane s pursuit of family is impacted by her self respect by
utilizing the symbol of fire and ice. Jane s quest begins at Gateshead with her aunt,
Mrs. Reed, and her cousins. Gateshead is a cruel place with cruel people. John
Reed, one of Jane s cousins, taunts her and engages in physical attacks on Jane. The
day on which the novel opens is described as having a cold winter wind [that] had
brought with it [sombre clouds] and [penetrating rain] (Bronte 9). Through the use of
the fire and ice symbol, Bronte foreshadows a cold unloving situation for Jane. The
coldness of the weathercorresponds with the cold heartedness of the Reed family.
One day, Jane gets into a fight initiated by John, Mrs. Reed fails to see what her
child has done wrong. Jane knows that she is worthy of a better family than this but
is unable to leave due to the fact that she cannot survive on her own. Luckily Jane is
Patriarchy In Fifty Shades Of Grey
Over the years, women face various social injustices that range from verbal and
physical abuse to discrimination in the society. Notably, the novel, Fifty Shades of
Grey, published May 25, 2011, reveals the existence of patriarchy as there are
numerous instances of domestic violence and torture. In May 2015 Sam Taylor
directed a film with a screen play by Kelly Marcel known as fifty shades of

The main character, Christian, exploits her girlfriend. Specifically, Christian use
alcohol to influence Ana`s decision to engage in sexual activities (James, 2015). As a
result, Christian spanks and abuse her sexually. The actions of Christian mirror that
current social injustices that women face in the society. Most men drug women
before harassing them sexually. Nonetheless, a majority of perpetrators of these
heinous acts escape punishments as law enforcers, and some societal rules do not
protect women. On the contrary, they believe that men have authority over women.
Therefore, different nations support prostitution that promotes sexual harassment of
women. In summation, the novel, Fifty Shades of Grey, reveals numerous instances
of patriarchy in the modern society. The main character, Christian, influences the
decision of her girlfriend and sexually abuse her. Likewise, men harass females in
the modern community and subject them to mental torture. References James, E. L.

The aim of this experiment was to test the workability and compressive strength of

Portland Cement gained its name from its colour, as it matched the colour of Portland
stone. (Anon., 1999 2015).
The evolution of concrete has allowed us to create more workable concrete and as a
result allows better bonding due to the chemical reaction at a molecular level between
the water and cement. This reaction bonds the aggregate and acts much like a
bridging compound which binds the aggregate together.
Modern construction utilises properties of concrete and allows the creation of large
structures. In order to achieve this we must understand the expectations of concrete
and how it works.
Aims of the Experiment
The aim of this experiment was to understand the properties of fresh and cured
concrete, looking at the relationship between workability and compressive strength.
The workability of 3 concrete mix samples, each with different water to cement ratios
were tested by means of an in situ slump tests.
The purpose of the slump test is to initially give a quick solution to measure the
workability of a concrete mix and visually gain an approximation of how versatile
the mix will be during its application. This can also be used for checking for
consistency between several batches / pours.
Each of the samples were allowed to cure at different periods (7, 14 and 28 days) and
were subjected to compressive testing up to the point of
Equinox s Advertising Campaign
In the world of advertising, grabbing the attention of your audience is key to your
success. You may have created something that will benefit all of the society, but the
product will remain useless unless you create a good advertising campaign. That
being said, I think equinox found a strategy for doing just that. Equinox is a gym and
fitness center that contributes everything a traditional fitness club offers; so why
does this company stand out from the rest? Because of their advertisingcampaign.
Equinox hired photographer Steven Klein, who took a series of seven different
photo shoots, with the text, commit to something , written across each one of the
seven photos. I was really drawn to this ad because I also find it important for
people everywhere to commit themselves to something. The visual coherence of the
text is faded just enough, making the photo the center of attention, while still
allowing the words to grab your view. With a gym advertisement, you would expect
to see a woman running on a treadmill, a guy lifting weights, or a really fit group of
people throughout the gym. However, Equinox resolved to focus on their member s
lifestyle, as opposed to the gym and all of the amenities in it. Steven is known in...

Wells Fargo Bank Embezzlement System
Embezzlement is an act withholding assets for the purpose of conversion of such
assets, by one or more persons to whom the assets were entrusted, either to be held
or to be used for specific purposes. Embezzlement is a type of financial fraud. a
lawyer might embezzle funds from the trust accounts of his or her clients; a financial
advisor might embezzle the funds of investors; and a husband or a wife might
embezzle funds from a bank account jointly held with the spouse.
Embezzlement usually is a premeditated crime performed methodically, with the
embezzler taking precautions to conceal his or her activities of the criminal
conversion of the property of another person (Ponzi,2016), because the embezzlement

Observation On A Restaurant
On October 15, 2017 at approximately 10 AM, I woke up to go to Freddie s
Restaurant to start my observations. It was a nice morning, about 50 degrees and
sunny with a slight breeze. I hopped into my Chevy truck to head to the restaurant.
There were cars zipping around the town because church had just gotten let out, and
families were going to get food somewhere.
Through my personal experiences, I know that Freddie s is a popular place to go on
a Sunday. The owner s daughter, Stephanie Cannon, is my middle brother s girlfriend
(also my broker), and she worked at the restaurant on its busiest days. She
explained to me that many families enjoy gathering at Freddie s for a traditional
breakfast after their church service is finished. She also noted that Freddie s offers
some of the best food for a great price. On certain Sundays, there is a breakfast
buffet that is extremely popular, and there s a wide variety of food offered at those
buffets. I also know the owners, Mark and Sue Cannon, very well because they are
obviously Stephanie s parents. Our families have been very close ever since I was
a little kid, and we ve eaten at Freddie s many times. During the summer when my
brother and Steph are home, we eat there occasionally. It s nice because we don t
even have to pay.
I had to pick up my brother, Derek, and Steph from her house because they wanted
to go to breakfast while I observed. We arrived at the restaurant, and there were a lot
of cars parked outside the restaurant.
The s Opinion On Monogamy
Gordeau s opinion on monogamy relates well in theory and reinforces current
societal norms . However, her argument lacks research to support her view, while
giving few examples of the benefits of monogamy she relinquishes any depth and
breadth in her opinion, leaving out any clarity on this matter.
Gordeau s points...
Humans are among just 3% of mammals that form pair bonds, she says. (Taverner p.
74) Only 3% of mammals pair bonds is an extremely low percentage and does not
support the case for monogamy. Moreover, I would argue this is a point for non
monogamy and state it is more natural not to mate for life than to continue a
monogamous relationship, because 97% mammals do not form pair bonds.
...a human woman carried a child in her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It created more variety in the woman s family line, doubled a man s potential
offspring, and served as an insurance policy against spouses death. (Taverner p. 74)
Gourdeau stating this point supports non monogamous relationships instead of
monogamous because it gives an example of why cheating has benefits. Furthermore,
she then dives into a study about the difficulties of staying faithful.
Anderson s study on monogamy doesn t work because of our pornified culture,
people will become habituated (bored) with their partner faster and experience an
increased desire to see sex with others. (Taverner p. 74) Again, Gourdeau makes a
statement in her article providing research on opposing her position on monogamy.
Moreover, she only states Anderson sampled a narrow demographic, however, she
never explains how this point supports monogamy.
Gourdeau states, humans want sex with multiple people it doesn t mean they need it
or that it s in their best interest. (Taverner p. 75) Personally I agree with this
statement. However, much can be said for flipping this statement around for non
monogamous relationships. Moreover, wellness is about finding a balance.
Individuals could seek to find a balance with multiple partners.
Logical and/or theoretical benefits of monogamy include; a personal more intimate
relationship that will assist with self esteem, avoidance of STI s, conforms with
social norms,
Reflection Of The Woman Warrior
In 1976 Maxine Hong Kingston won the National Book Critics Circle Award for
the best work of non fiction for her book The Woman Warrior: Memories of a
Girlhood among Ghosts, a novel built up from a collection of stories that draw on
from Chinese folklore and myth intertwined with her own life s experiences and
episodes from her and other female family members life. While labelled as an
autobiography, American readers enthusiastically welcomed it as work of fiction that
deals with the exotic, mysterious and unfathomable China. This illustrates the why
and wherefores of the many readings that this work has originated since its
publication. The lack of adherence to one genre, especially autobiography, presents

Sayedul provided an update on the Four Mile Run SWMM5 Model. A model
summary and a map of model components (see attached) were handed out.
The Four Mile Run SWMM5 Model results were found to match observed flows at
the Shirlington gage, especially for large storms (5,000 cfs or larger). However, for
the tributaries, small streams and upper Four Mile Run segments, the model
performance cannot be validated until local wet weather flow data are collected.

CH2M added storages to a number of subwatersheds in the tributary models to
account for water that cannot enter the pipes, especially if the pipes are too small to
carry the peak watershed runoff. Streams Tech will evaluate the need for such
storages in other subwatersheds to ensure that no water is lost from the system.
Arlington County and Streams Tech personnel will walk along the key or
questionable areas of the stormwater network to identify potential problems and
verify the connectivity and representation of network (nodes, links, storages and
subwatersheds) in the model.
Arlington County will provide data for an initial update of the model and then
provide data annually to update the model.
Streams Tech will coordinate NVRC to set up meeting to provide a project update to
the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC).
Arlington County wants to use the model results for various projects and programs
including the MS4 Program.

The Views Of Abraham Lincoln
A more recent myth that has developed is the theory that Abraham Lincoln was
homosexual. This myth came to light in 1999 when Larry Kramer, the founding
member of the Gay Men s Health Crisis, made the statement that Lincoln was
homosexual and backed up his statement with diary excerpts from Lincoln s
bunkmate s Diary. The excerpts read: He often kisses me when I tease him, often
to shut me up... He would grab me in his long arms and hug and hug... our Abe is
like a school girl (Steers 126). Kramer also made a claim stating that John Wilkes
Booth may have killed Lincoln because Booth was virulently homophobic (Steers
125). The theory that Lincoln was gay was taken even further when Dr. C.A. Tripp,
Ph.D. released his book titled The Intimate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Though another myth tends to render Tripp s invalid, this is the myth that Abraham
Lincoln was romantically attached to Anna Mayes Rutledge. This myth was one of
the best known myths about Lincoln s early life. (Steer 29). The story is that
Lincoln fell in love with Ann and the lovingly sent letters to each other. Ann s
cousin wrote in his diary I am so happy [because] now that Abe Lincoln and my
dearest [friend] Ann is an engaged couple... Abe and Ann are [awful] in love he
writes her letters (Steer 40). The myth of Ann Rutledge doesn t coinside with
Tripp s ideas that Lincoln is gay because if he was in love with Ann how could he
be in love with men. The mythology of Lincoln hasn t just happened in the world
of historians, media has also taken a shot at it. Steven Spielburg even came out
wish his own rendition of Lincoln with his 2012 movie Lincoln. Athough the
movie was perceived well in theaters it wasn t perceived as well with historians or
did it? The movie takes place during the beginning of 1865 (Mckernie). As Eric
Foner points out slavery died on the ground as well as in the House, due to abolition
efforts by feminist leaders like Susan B. Anthony, the Emancipation Proclamation,
and the actions of free blacks themselves (Coker), although missing those facts aren t
really a historical error, it just shows that those aren t the focus of the movie
(Mckernie). The
Marge Piercy s Barbie Doll
From the beginning of life, we are coached to believe that by being a female, there
are certain rules we must follow. As infants it begins with the color of our clothing,
pinks for girls. We are pretty in pink and as we grow we are given toys that reinforce
how we develop. From kitchen sets to baby dolls, we are shaped into society s view
of womanhood. We watch society s view of beauty on our TV s, read about it in
magazines and buy toy make up, dress up outfits, and Barbie dolls for our children.
Allowing society s to define how a womanshould look and act. Driving most to

No matter how much she has to offer, everyone only notices her imperfections,
appearance is all they care about. She loses herself in society s portrayal of beauty,
So she cut off her nose and her legs and offered them up (Piercy). Barbie Doll gives
a view of how absurd society expectations are. Contrasting the poem Phenomenal
Woman published by Angelou in 1978, which is an anthem of being a strong self
defined woman. The speaker is illustrating society doesn t have to control how she
feels about herself, she is beautiful in her own skin. I m not cute or built to suit a
fashion model s size (Angelou 130). Angelou s speaker is speaking to the essence of
womanliness. I m a woman Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That s me. (Angelou 130). Both Piercy and Angelou s poems indicates challenges of
the stereotypes and explicates the issues that society dictates, objectifying the beauty
of women. As woman we should always be who we are and be confident in our own
skin. Real beauty isn t dictated by society, it s in the being a phenomenal woman, the
essences of womanhood.

The Eccentricities Of Nick Joaquin
Nick Joaquin is one the Philippine National Artists for Literature, having written

biographies, works on social and cultural history, translations of written work, and
stories for children. In all his works, he was meant to act and write as an expert of
many different specializations where a diverse sort of narrativearises as a result. His
works are so diverse that Doreen Fernandez, when writingon Joaquin in the article

reviews of two of his works Culture and History and A Portrait of the Artist as

The Eccentricities of Joaquin In Fernandez s article, she recounts her memories

language that he utilizes. Fernandez quotes Joaquin directly when she writes, It
seemed as the city itself, the Manila I knew, had been invisible to our writers in
English... These young writers could only see what the American language saw.
According to Doreen, Joaquin had seen the subject matter of his own work in

Matthew s Coming Of Age Story In Traditional
Bildungsroman...
Angelina Jolie once said, I do believe in the old saying, What does not kill you
makes you stronger. Our experiences, good and bad, make us who we are. By
overcoming difficulties, we gain strength and maturity. Throughout the course of one
s life, they will experience their coming of age story and mature from it, which can be
see in most traditional Bildungsromanstories. Everyone has a different story, but we
all have one. Through the use of of a comic utilizing expressionism and single page
panels, Matthew s coming of agestory shows that people are subject to maturation
through big life transitions and racist endeavors in any form of a novel, thereby
suggesting harsh situations can help us to become a bigger person in the long run.
In life, all people will go through situations that bring them down, but it how we
respond to those moments that define us and help mature us. In this comic, the
panels of the maturation of the protagonist are in a deliberate sequence, intended to
show his maturation. Matthew focused on football when he should have been
focusing on his grades instead. Football is an icon for Matthew, which symbolizes
his major fantasy. It appears that he wanted to have fun in high school, rather than
doing school work. The comic uses scene to scene transitions to show how events
occurred in order. The use of word bubbles show that Matthew even had the audacity
to tell his teacher that he would start to do his school work after he finished his

Role Of Trademark And Marketing Management
Role of trademark in business/industry:
Trademark is the current trend of industry that everyone follows. Trademark is not a
fashion but it has emerged as current marketing trend of industry. The value of
trademark is mostly observed in marketing management where promoters used the
trademark just instead of the product name. This is called branding where basically
one brands the trademark of the product or in higher level the trademark of the
company. In other field of business like financial, consultancy or operation trademark
used as the symbol of pride, reputation, history and future of the company. But

may be so much successful that product may develop a long term, even an emotional
development with customer such that they will grow a tendency not to look at the
prominent weak side of the product but to look at the emotional and brand value of it
resulting in increase further brand value following an iterating loop. The following
path every company must want to follow:
Finally, the result is followed to brand insistence where the consumer refuses to
accept any other brand and willing to pay an even higher amount for the product.
The brand name is often useful to exchange with trademark. It is the term used in
intellectual property legal circle. Trademark is not definitely comparable against the
weightage of brand value and brand equity but again the market and perception value
of trademark must be considered while checking overall integrity and value
proposition of the company and evaluating the product.
Designing a trademark: Market segmentation is very important for the successful
branding of the product. Many
Dreams And Imagined Visions By Tennyson
As early as the second section we are told of Hallam s final burial below a Yew,
whose fibres net the dreamless head of Hallam. Tennyson s choice to focus on the
dreamless aspect of his friend s skull above any other adjective such as lifeless or
thoughtless places an emphasis on dreams at an early point in the poem. Dreams act
as a place inbetween the hard, sometimes unbearable reality of Tennyson s loss and
the unreachable state of heaven that Hallam is in. Dreams and imagined visions are
the places where Tennyson is able to truly grapple both the pain caused by the loss of
his friend and the accompanying religious doubt.
It is one of these dreams that Tennyson comes into contact with a mysterious angel of
the night who transforms the symbolic crown of thorns he is wearing into leaf .
He reach d the glory of a hand, That seem d to touch it into leaf; The voice was not
the voice of grief, The words were hard to understand.
The angel mentioned could either be a version of the spirit of Arthur Hallam, with
which Tennyson enters into many passages of imagined dialogue, or a dreamt
version of a Christian angel, partaking in a transformative process. The ambiguity of
the situation is important, while it seems unlikely that it is Hallam s true spirit given
Tennyson s continuous desire for that very encounter in much of the rest of In
Memoriam the very suggestion combined with the restorative process of a positive
force provides a note of hope
Juvenile Crimes
Juvenile crime is a growing problem that endangers virtually every American.
Juvenile delinquency is enormously damaging to the health and well being of the
nations families and communities. A juvenile crime can consist of DUI, robbery,
rape, minor in possession, weapon in possession anything an adult can be charged
with. Individuals under the age of eighteen who commit these crimes can be charged
as a juvenile delinquent. Statistics show that most juveniles that commit crimes are
in a gang; weather its street related or school related. The average cost of caring for
an incarcerated juvenile is more than $40,000 a year. Vandalism in schools cost more
than two hundred million a year, and vandalism directed at personal property is even

Some juveniles commit crimes because of poor parenting skills, because most
parents do not page close attentions to their child and give them the attention they
ask for. Not knowing what your child is doing are not having any thing to do with
your child s life is poor relationships between children and parents. According to
Eric Lotke, the numbers of juvenile homicides with firearm are starting to spiral
upwards while the number of non firearm homicides stays steady or is decreasing.
Lotke and others contend that guns have led to higher rates of violence because they
have replaced less fatal weapons. While juveniles use to fight with fits and knives
they now resolve disputes with lethal firearms (qtd in Ojeda 53).Preventing juvenile
crime is very hard to do. Recently authorities have tried various means of addressing
the problem of juvenile crime including teenage curfew laws, parental responsibility
laws, and after school and early intervention programs (qtd in Ojeda 129). Family
interactions have greater influence on delinquency. To prevent juvenile delinquency
one should spend more time with their child, and be more controlling. If the parent
feels like he or she can not control the child they should seek for assistance by calling
social services. Parents should educate their child about the dangerous parts of drug
use. Most parents should put their child in after school activities, such as community
services,
Dent Island
4 Tips To Enjoy Your Vacation
Here are the four best ways to enhance your vacation experience on Dent Island.
Important tips include organizing and planning the trip, balancing the amount of
activities in a specific time frame, stepping outside your comfort zone trying new
things, and establishing a deep connection with nature.
Planning Things Ahead of Time
Organizing each activity in advance would release the burden of winging it. On the
flip side, planning things ahead of time could also become extremely challenging
because it requires lots of research, which is a time consuming task. This could
become an inconvenience for a business person with many responsibilities on their
plate because they do not have the time to spare. Well, there is light at the end of the
tunnel! Setting up a Jet Boat Adventure Tour will relieve all the stress and pain
associated with planning a trip because the company owning the tour does all the
research and preparation work for you.
2. Step Outside Your Comfort Zone
Sometimes familiarity breeds contempt, and therefore stepping outside your comfort
zone and doing different things is a great way to really enjoy a vacation. Travelers
with an adventurous spirit will sometimes close their eyes, spin a globe, and place
their forefinger on a location and go there. Although this is a ... Show more content on

After each activity is decided, it is time to create balance to make sure there is
enough time to enjoy every one of them. Try not cram too many activities into one
day because that could take away from the experience. Although Dent island offers
freshwater and saltwater salmon fishing, other outdoor activities include kayaking
and hiking as well. After spending a day on the raft or battling the Chinook salmon,
the Dent Island Lodge restaurant offers a luxury experience of fine dining along with
picturesque views of the natural landscape in a unique
Analysis Of No Longer At Ease By Chinua Achebe
In the 1950s, most African nations commenced fighting for independence. In this
context, Chinua Achebe wrote his second novel, No Longer at Ease published during
Nigeria s independence. The story occurs in Lagos and Umuofia and the main
character, Obi, got money from the Umuofians to study in England. Nonetheless,
when he returned to Nigeria, he is trapped between his tradition and western culture.
In the book, Achebe stresses a theme of colonial mindset through the refutation of
Nigerian culture, through the use of English and through the divinization of the white
man.
Achebe highlights the presence of a colonial mindset in Nigeria throughout the book.
Indeed, he shows how colonialism affected Nigerian customs. For instance, ... Show

This mindset elicited a modification of the Nigerian culture, a favoritism of English
over local languages and a deification of white man. These consequences altogether
gave birth to a complex of inferiority still perceptible in Nigeria through the music,
movies, the use of British or American accent on Televisions and radios and through
the cultural events. However, colonial mentality is not only present in Africa but in
almost all African countries. Therefore, the question that should be asked is what the
correlation between underdevelopment in Africa and colonial mindset
My Small Group Leadership Experience (PFO)
I was a PFO teen from 2011 2013 during my junior and senior years in high school.
When in PFO, I was a co chair of the Winter Ball Committee, the Concert
Committee, and was a Small Group Leader. My experiences in PFO made up a huge
part of my high school experience that allowed me to make awesome friends, step
out of my comfort zone, and grow as a leader.
After graduating high school, I went to UNC Chapel Hill. Although I wasn t sure
about my major, but was able to take interesting classes and join various clubs and
organizations. One of those was AIESEC, a leadership development platform that
facilitates global exchange. My leadership experience in PFO gave me the
background and confidence to travel abroad alone for the first time,
Erik Eriskson s Eight Stages of Personality Development
Erik Erikson was a psychoanalyst and based his work off of Sigmund Freud s
ideas about the structure and topography of personality. Unlike Freud s idea that
personality is shaped by the age of five, Erikson believed that personality continues
to change over the life span. With this theory in mind, Erikson came up with a stage
theory of personality development. Stage theories assume that (1) individuals must
progress through specified stages in a particular order, because each stage builds on
the previous stage, (2) progress through these stages is strongly related to age, and
(3) development is marked by a major discontinuities that usher in dramatic
transitions in behavior (Weiten, 2008). Erikson s stage theory was broken down into
eight stages that progressed through life. Each stage encountered a crisis that needed
to be resolved before the person could move onto the next stage. Each stage builds
upon what has gone before and carries elements of itself into future stages (Hopkins,
1995). The eight stages Erikson purposed were trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame
and doubt, initiative vs. guilt, industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. confusion, intimacy
vs. isolation, generativity vs. self absorption, and integrity vs. despair (Guinee, 1998).
Stage one, trust vs. mistrust, children would ask the question whether their caregivers
met their needs or not. This stage happened between birth and one year of age
(Dunkel Sefcek, 2009). Maternal relationships also plays

Clausewitz Applicability to Non-State Actors Essays
Clausewitz s theories on war are still relevant today with the revisualization of non
state actors on the world scene. The purpose of this essay is to expand on the
applicability of these theories in today s modern warfare where non state actors play
a larger, more global role. The study of theory, especially translated theory, requires
an open mind to determine its applicability to various and ever changing situations. In
the case of Clausewitz, many strategists do not view his theories as relevant to today
s wars involving a Nation State vs. non state actors. This is not true. The U.S. Army
Command and General Staff College teaches that the commander s intent is the most
important part of proper execution. Strategists need to look... Show more content on

War is often thought of as involving one state against another but most wars
throughout time have been fought between competing factions within a single state.
Examples of this include Civil Wars or Wars of Revolution within a Nation State
where a group organizes itself, forms a military or insurgent force and attempts to
overthrow or separate from the primary Nation State. Clausewitz briefly refers to
non state actors or as he called them, people in arms in his book On War. He saw this
as a new phenomenon of warfare that steamed from the French Revolution under
Napoleon. Recognizing that Clausewitz was aware of non state actors, his
definition of war can be reviewed in the context of the time it was written.
Clausewitz s definitions of war are suitable to both State and non state actors. He
defines war as: 1) an act of force to compel our enemy to do our will; 2) a clash
between major interests, which are resolved by bloodshed that is the only way in
which it differs from other conflicts; and 3) fighting, for fighting is the only
principle in the manifold activities generally designated as war. A Nation State raises
a military to deter aggression or to become the implementing force of aggression
against its enemies. Similarly, non state actors create militias or guerrilla bands to
inflict their will on others. This act is as much a demonstration of political or military
strategy as that of a
Julius Caesar Leadership Analysis
In Shakespeare s play, Caesar is a highly respected man that holds great power, and
as he gains more power there are men who stand to oppose him. This is how Caesar
shows so many good qualities of leadership, like keeping an open ear to the people,
being observant and proud, as well as being honest. The attributes that Caesar shows
has gained him the trust of all of the people, already proivng just how worthy he is to
be called the greatest authorityfigure in Shakespeare s drama The Tradgedy of Julius
Caesar.
One of the first things to recognize about Caesar is how he listens to what others
have to say, which is a very important trait to find in a leader. For example, when he
is walking through the streets and a man calls for him, Caesar says, Who is it in
the press that calls on me?/ I hear a togue shriller than all the music/ Cry Caesar!
Speak. Caesar is turned to hearВЁ(I.ii.15 17), and when Calpurnia, his wife, tells
him that he should stay home because of a frightening dream he eventually gives
in and tells Decius why he will not go to the Senate, ВЁThe cause is in my will: I
will not come./ That is enough to satisfy the Senate;/ But for your private
satisfaction,/ Because I love you, I will let you know./ Calpurnia here, my wife,
stays me at homeВЁ(II.ii.71 75). Although he was reluctant at first to his wife s
suspicions, after hearing her out Caesar decided to yield to Calpurnia s wishes.
This proves that Caesar does indeed listen to those around him, and considers what
they have to say. Caesar also proves to be very observant later in the story. He goes
on to say,ВЁYond Cassius has a lean and hungry look/ He thinks too much, such men
are dangerousВЁ(I.ii.194 195). He tells Antony how dangerous Cassius is, and then
goes into depth on why heВґs so suspicious. ВЁHe reads much,/ He is a great
observer, and he looks/ Quite through the deeds of men...Seldom he smiles, and
smiles in such a sort/As if he mocked himself and scorned his spirit...Such men as he
be never at heartВґs ease/ Whiles they behold a greater than themselves,/ And
therefore are they very dangerous.ВЁ(I.ii.201 210). Caesar is right to be cautious,
since Cassius and several others wind up being his killers. For Caesar to have been
wary of
Rules In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Rules have been around since the beginning of time for the purpose of safety and
control in a population. But, what happens when there are more rules in place for
the sake of control as opposed to safety? The novel Anthem shows that when there
are more rules for control of individuals minds, they will be broken because the
individuals realize there is more to be discovered than what they are being told. This
can be seen through the plotand climax, as well as in the characterization of the
protagonist and antagonist, and through Equality 7 2521 s first person point of view.
Throughout the plot of the story, we see Equality 7 2521 slowly begin to break
small rules, then move on to break bigger ones because of the discoveries he has

This is important because as a reader I was able to see that when he broke rules he
didn t guilty about it.( Rand 20) When Equality 7 2521 was alone in the tunnel he
began to like the feeling of solidarity despite being told he would become evil if he
was alone. ( Rand 65)By knowing what he is thinking I was able to see how he felt
about his relationship with others, such as how he sees International 4 8818 as his
friend (Rand 13) and how he ends up falling in love with Liberty 5 3000 despite it
being forbidden to favor others. (Rand 77) It s especially important that the story was
told in first person because we can see Equality 7 2521 s reaction to what he reads in
the library at the house he and Liberty 5 3000 find after fleeing town. ( Rand 73)
Equality 7 2521 beings to refer to himself as I instead of We . He finally understands
that he possess his own body and spirit and doesn t have to do things for others
unless he is willing to.( Rand 74) As a reader you can tell he was happy he broke all
the rules that were oppressing him and realizes he never felt guilty and how it was a
good thing.(Rand
Persuasive Essay On Hybrid Cars
In the recent years there has been an increase of plug in electric, hybrid type
vehicles on the road. Many people would argue that hybrid vehicles are not a big
thing and that they are insubordinate to the piston engine type vehicles. The matter of
the fact is that electric vehicles are the way to go for many reasons from saving
money to saving the environment and planet.
So the question is, will electric cars take over the automotive industry? I personally
believe that, yes electric cars will take over the automotive industry. The sales for
hybrid cars has started expanding as more modern their technology becomes. So
using this fact we can see that in time the need for electric cars may become
greater. Nissan s newest model, the eNV200 have already topped other automakers
who tried their hands on electric cars. Many criticize that since the failed launch of
2011, that many people don t want these vehicles. Those who do however believe
that theses new vehicles are the way to go and most of them greatly support electric
vehicles because of their fuel efficiency, due to the greater advancements in battery
technology, and the money that they are saving because of it. There is also a sense
that they are doing a good thing for the environment. ... Show more content on

Due to an incident with a crash test many politicians used this to attack and criticize
the safety of the vehicle. Many of the EV supporters still disagreed. Even though the

it seems that more and more electric cars are on the road. So what has changed,
what s been going on is that more people see the promise of an all electric car and
other countries such as China see the potential to these earth saving
Sophocles Use Of Dramatic Irony In Oedipus The King
The Tragic Irony of Oedipus
At the beginning of Oedipus Thebes is struck by a plague and the oracle of Apollo
says the reason for it is because the King s murderer is still walking free. The oracle
knew that Oedipus tragedy was caused by faith, he knew what was going to happen
the whole time. Queen Jocasta and King Laius abandoned Oedipus because the oracle
had told them that Louis will be killed by his own child. Oedipus married his own
mother and even conceived children with her and murdering his own father. Oedipus
had always tried to run from what his faith will be, but at the end he couldn t run
from it. The tragedy at the end results on Queen Jocasta hanging herself and Oedipus
stabbing his own eyes out. Sophocles uses dramatic, situational, ... Show more content

Initially, in Oedipus the King by Sophocles Oedipus said, So I will fight for him as
if he were my father, stop at nothing, search the world to lay my hands on the man
who shed his blood . In this quote Oedipus is saying that he will find the killer and
fight for King Laius as if he was his father, and he in fact is his son.. He wants to
kill the men who shed the blood of the King Laius, Oedipus doesn t know what he
is saying. He doesn t know that everything he is saying is the complete opposite.
He wants to be the great hero and gain respect from his people. Oedipus wants to
find the killer and be recognized because of that. Furthermore, in the book Oedipus
the King, Oedipus said, I hold the throne that he held then, possess his bed and a
wife who shares our seed. Oedipus is saying that he now sleeps and his married to
Laius widowed wife, without knowing she is his mom. Oedipus is having
relationships with his own mom and conceiving children with her. Oedipus came
into his own mom s life without him knowing who she really was. Once he killed
the king he married Queen Jocasta right away. He didn t care that she had just lost
her husband and was in a bad time, Oedipus came to her as she had not just lost her

Federal Elementary And Secondary Education Act Essay
The last century in American history has yielded educational reforms, federal
legislations, school improvement plans and interventions, which consistently
influence best practices in school systems. After the report, A Nation at Risk (1983),
the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965 was
reauthorized in 2001 as the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act (U.S. Department of
Education, 2001). This reauthorization was a call to attain educational equality for all
American students and to lessen the achievement gaps between and among ethnicity
groups, children of poverty, and disabled populations (U.S. Department of Education,
2001). Additionally, because of this increased scrutiny of student performance, other
classification categories emerged such as gender.
Investigating college readiness by looking at the data for particular groups pinpoints
definite achievement gaps. The profile of a college student in the United States
reveals that about 60% of recent graduate are not college ready (Kirst, 2007). High
school graduation data broken down by ethnicity indicates that 97% of African
Americans and 90% of Hispanics are not college ready upon high school completion
(Collins, 2009). This percentage compares to 33% of Caucasian and 25% of Asian
students being college ready at high school completion (Bettinger Long, 2007).
Further, an investigation of gender disparities reveal that males and females tend to
perform similarly on college readiness
Analysis Of The Text The Of The Bible
There are many things which are similar and differences in both texts about the
whole story of creation, some of them are noteworthy and would be explained as the
essay proceeds. Philo, in his interpretation of the text was more lenient and warm in
his attitude towards women. He does not cite woman as to be the mother of all evil
and suffering in heaven and earth, and he has a warmth towards womanwhile
handling issues of creation(Charlesworth. et al, 2010 ). While Midrash is a little
cynical of the role of woman in heaven and earth. The first similarity between the
two interpretations can be observed by the question as to why does scripture call the
likeliness of woman a building ? it is explained in both texts that the harmonious
coming together of man and woman is figuratively a house, and everything which is
without a woman is imperfect and homeless. Man is entrusted the public state of
affairs, while the woman holds the affairs of home. While a woman is near home,
household management is proper and diligent.
The second question to which we find the similar interpretation of both Philo and
Midrash was why was woman, unlike other animals and man, was not formed from
earth and created by side of man. The first reason both interpretations present is that
woman is not equal in honor with man. The second is that woman is not equal in age
to man, and she is younger to man in age. Both interpretations suggest that man
should take care of woman as necessary part of him, and
Supply And Elasticity Of The Volkswagen Diesel-Engine
Golf
Introduction Volkswagen company is operating in a perfectly competitive UK
market (Holweg et al, 2009, pp4,5). This means that there are a large number of
buyers and sellers of cars and most cars firms are price takers when it comes to raw
materials such as steel(Ng et al, 2017)(Parkin et al, 2005, p54). In this market,
every firm sells cars, different styles but the same function is to travel (Parkin et
al, 2005, pp190). This essay will be assessing the major influences of Demand,
Supply and Elasticity of the Volkswagen diesel engine Golf. Demand The law of
demand is the quantity of a good demanded per period of time, will fall as price rises
and will rise as price falls, this suggests that other factors remain the same, ceteris
paribus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As demand comes from the behaviour of consumers, these external factors would
have a negative effect on the demand of VWG. For example, a reduction in
consumer s income will reduce willingness to buy luxurious items, because of a
rise in the cost of living (Parkin et al, 2005, pp54,55). Leading customers to buy a
cheaper car with lower insurance rates, but similar functions, a substitute product
(Parkin et al, 2005, pp55). Diesel is a complementary good for the VWG diesel
engine models (Sloman and Wride, 2009, p34,35). This means that any changes to
the pricing of diesel would influence the quantity demand of VWG diesel cars.
Especially, as there is an increasing rate of inflation and governmental concerns on
carbon emission (Lea, 2017, pp1 3). Currently, the government has decided to go
back on their tax cuts made in 2001(Asthana, 2016)(Swinford and Collins, 2014).
This may increase the price of diesel in the further future, making prices a lot
steeper for owners of diesel engined cars (Swinford and Collins, 2014). This would
decrease the quantity demand of future buyers towards diesel engine cars, such as
VWG, however, it is more likely for the Volkswagen e Golf to see an increase in
quantity demanded as the influence of government spending ВЈ600 million electric
cars and charging points, and working with manufacturers to reduce emissions
(Asthana, 2016). Eventually, the use of

Essay On Personal Development. Essay on a Personal Development Plan Goal Personal Development

  • 1. Essay On Personal Development Writing an essay on personal development can be a challenging yet rewarding task. The difficulty lies in the intricacies of introspection and self-analysis that the topic demands. Unlike more objective subjects, personal development necessitates a deep dive into one's own experiences, thoughts, and emotions. It involves reflecting on personal strengths and weaknesses, setting goals, and outlining the steps for self-improvement. Crafting an effective essay on personal development requires not only a keen understanding of oneself but also the ability to articulate those insights coherently. It involves striking a delicate balance between humility and confidence, acknowledging areas for growth while showcasing a commitment to continuous improvement. Expressing personal experiences, challenges faced, and lessons learned adds a layer of authenticity to the essay, making it more relatable and impactful. Moreover, the subjectivity of personal development makes it challenging to create a one-size-fits- all approach. Each individual's journey is unique, making it difficult to provide universal advice that applies to everyone. The writer must tailor their essay to resonate with the reader, considering diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Despite the challenges, composing an essay on personal development offers an opportunity for self-discovery and growth. It encourages the writer to delve into their own experiences, fostering a deeper understanding of their values, aspirations, and the path they wish to pursue. The reflective nature of the essay can be therapeutic, allowing individuals to confront obstacles and formulate strategies for overcoming them. In conclusion, writing an essay on personal development is a complex task that demands introspection, honesty, and a willingness to embrace vulnerability. It involves navigating the fine line between self-assessment and self-promotion, making it both a challenging and enriching endeavor. For those seeking assistance with essays or looking for professionally crafted pieces on a variety of topics, including personal development, resources like HelpWriting.net offer a platform where similar essays and more can be ordered to meet specific needs and requirements. • 2. Omelas Moral Standards As a citizen of Omelas, I would consider myself fortunate to have been brought up in such a prosperous city. However, knowing how my future is guarded by the harm and torture done to one innocent child, I would never entirely consider myself lucky. Due to the standards that my parents raised me and the moral values that I grew up to defend, I would never be happy knowing that my well being is dependant on the maltreatment of someone else. Considering that the torture dealt is done so without the permission of that child, I would feel even worse about it. At a certain extent, those living in Omelas who know about the child that suffers for their well being do bear a blame. Some people in the city are helpless due to the fear of losing the prosperity
  • 3. Diabetic Absorbance According to the experiment results the hypothesis was proven to be correct. The diabetics did indeed have a higher absorbance level than the non diabetics. It was made clear that the rate at which a diabetic digests their meal is slower than a non diabetic. It proves that fact that without sugar, the body could not function properly because there would not be enough glucosein the body to provide energy in order to make ATP. Without the main ingredient to make ATP the body would die. This fact leads to the understanding as to why people with diabetes in third world countries are dying because they cannot get the insulinneeded in order to help their bodies make ATP and function (Khunti). As seen in figure one it is clear that it takes a diabetic longer to return to their pre meal value because it takes longer to break ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also the diabetic would reach the maximum blood glucose level quicker because they could not break down the glucose in the food as quick as the non diabetic could. As seen in figure 1 it is clear that a person with diabetics has almost double the absorbance level compared to the non diabetics. The data in figure 1 shows the absorbance over time for diabetics and non diabetics. Looking deeper into the meaning of why the absorbance is higher in the diabetic people it is known to be because of the buildup of glucose in the bloodstream. This buildup leads to less glucose being able to pass through and thus taking the diabetic longer to get back to the pre meal value. The effects of T2D can lead to this buildup and cause cardiovascular disorders, hypertension, and death. Diabetes still not be taken lightly for this very reason. Unlike T2D patients type 1 diabetics(T1D) are at a greater risk because their body does not produce insulin at all, thus making it harder to maintain and regulate. T1D s are always having to check
  • 4. Amy Tan s Language In The Immigrant Family It is a well known fact that children acquire language through their environment. From the time of birth, they are exposed to many different phonetics which allow them to shape words and form language. As parents and families utilize specific words as symbols for different concepts and ideas, children learn that they must use these to communicate their desires. This is evident in everyday life, for example those born in different parts of the world, who grow up hearing a predominant language, grow up speaking that language with all of the same particular nuances, slangs and variations that are present. Therefore, Amy Tan s claim that the language spoken in the family, especially in the immigrant families, plays a large role in shaping the language of the child, is definitely viable.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tan s assertion that my family did and does influence my language. From infancy, the main language spoken in my home was Punjab with all of my immediate family members being fluent with their version of words, sentence structure, and grammar. Although, my parents did try to incorporate some English, my grandparents only spoke Punjabi and since they were the primary care givers it was their influence that most affected me and my sister. Although, my parents spoke English and also conversed with us, it was usually only for few moments before bedtime. But even with just that little bit of influence there are still words within my vocabulary that they and I only understand. Of course, some of this vocabulary is not used with anyone other than my family. Sometimes however, a particular accent or emphasis on a word that was stressed by my parents comes through in my syntax as I speak to friends, co workers and
  • 5. Hungry Bird Short Story The Hungry Bird Good Morning ladies and gentlemen. May I have your attention please? Passengers travelling on Emirates flight EK 547 flying to Dubai may proceed to board the aircraft. The time is finally up! Excitement exploded as if an extinct volcano erupted all of a sudden. I hurriedly walked through the boarding bridge with each atom bomb erupting into excitement, as I took each step towards the aircraft. Hello, and welcome aboard, may I see your boarding pass please? said a beautiful looking angel in a sweet voice. I was ushered to my seat with my seat belt fastened. Ladies and gentlemen, I kindly request you to take your seats and fasten your seatbelts as we are preparing for take off. Cabin Crew prepare for take off. Contentment reached to its highest peak but eventually turned into a moment of stomping heartbeats as I felt myself go all the way up, up and above. Cabin crew prepare for landing, and a few minutes later welcome to Dubai International Airport, where the local time is 8.am in the morning and the outside temperature is 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Hooray, it s finally here! My nerves charged up and lit me bright from the inside like a fluorescent bulb. I went out of the airport to the bus waiting outside. It felt like I was thrown into a planet outside of the universe. What an exotic view! The tall buildings stared at me with their frightening shadows casted over me like cops surrounding a criminal. An amazing fact was that the authentic Arabian
  • 6. Narrative Essay On Coptic Americans As we pulled into 145 Oak Street, Natick, MA on Christmas Eve 2011, instead of being greeted by fellow church parishioners, we were greeted by armored soldiers equipped with M4 Carbine assault rifles. Instead of Honda Odysseys and Ford Focuses filling the adjacent parking lot, a giant tank loomed over the empty spots. I was only twelve and was very confused. I had never experienced such trouble simply going to church any other Sunday. What made this time so different? Now, flashback almost two weeks. Since the Coptic calendar is arranged to celebrate Christmas on January 7, this would be around the time of Western Christmas. Tensions in Egypt were on the rise, and the Coptic community could sense that something was going to happen. Unfortunately, something did. On New Year s Eve 2011, twenty three Coptic Orthodox Christians were killed in an attack on a church in Alexandria and a hundred more were injured. Despite the attack taking place over five thousand miles away, I felt that they were not only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Years of persecution have seen babies snatched from their mothers and churches burned to the ground before the eyes of those who worshiped there just last Sunday. Yet the Coptic community remains united and stronger than ever. I never truly realized the potential power of this strength until I witnessed it first hand. In an effort to learn more about my Coptic origins, I set out on my own personal journey. When I went to Egypt this past summer, I found the stories of the Coptic people painted on the walls of the ancient churches. These walls had been scratched, shot at, burned, and defaced throughout years of Christian persecution, but they still stood tall. These murals have survived the test of time because they hold the stories of those whose strength transcended the body. Their stories, passed on from one generation to the next, are, in essence, written in
  • 7. Target Stakeholders Analysis The company also wants their stakeholders to be involved in the business, as well as be happy with the decision making process. Although a company may want their stakeholders to be included, they may have various levels of inclusion that may differ for every stakeholder. Motivation in stakeholder engagement means keeping the stakeholders motivated potentially increases profitability and productivity for your company... Determine how you want them involved and the level of motivation or action needed from each group of stakeholders. Focus on the stakeholders with a great deal of power or interest in the company, but don t forget the less influential stakeholders. Motivation is key for every stakeholder but can be crucial for those more invested... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conflict could be caused by a disagreement on business decisions or on who has the most power. Target has a positive relationship with their stakeholders thus far, or they at least have a good public relations team. However, based off Target s website, they do have a positive relationship with their shareholders because they have put so much information out in the world on why they have the shareholders that they do. The reason why Target is so public about their business is because of how their organizational culture is handled. The company s culture makes for a great place to work and their shareholders are a major part of that. As America s second largest retailer, we stay ahead in today s ultra competitive retail market by challenging ourselves to become more efficient and more intelligent, providing guests with the best shopping experience possible. The pace is fast, the atmosphere is fun and the people are friendly. Every team member is encouraged to innovate, contribute ideas and discover solutions as an important part of a world class team. This also plays a part in Target s diverse team and the emphasis they have on having diversity in their company. Target has specific areas with their shareholders that are just for diversity and the power that they have within them has helped the company out tramendously. In fact, one would inferr that
  • 8. Compare And Contrast Hinduism And Christianity In the world of billions of people how many of us are going to be the same? People will perceive the world in their own way. One person may see the world perfect, while others see nothing but the end. Is everyone going to be different? Not necessarily, many others will share the same beliefs but that could mean more varieties will be created. Once one person believes a certain path they may choose to believe in that belief or even believe living is the path to happiness. However, one chooses to perceive their own world, they may or may not be right. Just like in religionpeople follow their belief but what they choose may not be the honest path. Some have common similarities but many differences as well. Hinduismand Christianity have many resemblances between one another and how their Gods are, even with the view that they are extremely different, especially in the way that Hinduism has many Gods compared to Christianity and how they both reach salvation. There s much talking about religions and faith in the world today. Everywhere people will find others that are indifferent about Godand faith, one will find people that are obsessed with anti religion propaganda and others will find people that live their lives according to what they believe and what they declare. Religion is defined as a system of human thought which usually includes a set of narratives, symbols, beliefs and practices that give meaning to the practitioner s experiences of life through reference to a

  • 11. Rights of Indigenous Australians The law recognizes that specific groups in society are permitted to have specific rights. Individuals in traditional homelands have the right to determine the application of health, education and welfare entitlements, free from government regulation and discrimination. However the rights Indigenous Australians are entitled to are not being completely abided by and therefore white law is being used as a tool of discrimination to Indigenous Australians. Before the case of Eddie Mabo, Indigenous Australian s ancestral lands that they were raised on were claimed for British purposes and benefits. After crossing paths with land rights advocates and legal minds, Eddie Mabo became of crucial importance to Indigenous Australian land law. Mabo was looking to seek a retreat from injustice concerning Indigenous Australians right to the land. After a ten year legal battle, often referred to as the Mabo Case, six out seven High Court Judges ruled that: The Meriam people are entitled as against the whole world, to possession, occupation, use and enjoyment of the lands of the Murray Islands . By showing that the Indigenous owned land as individuals and as families, and had clearly demarcated property boundaries, Mabo s battle for land rights proved successful. This succession paved the way for fair land rights for Australia s Indigenous people. The Stronger Futures aims to help the Indigenous persons of remote communities in the Northern Territory, but are the Indigenous free from
  • 12. Research Paper On John Carpenter A great way to pass the time is to watch a John Carpenter movie. It has a great story line, easy to follow, and parent s with young children can watch this film if they can differentiate costumes. It has loads of action, weapons, magicians, sorcery, magical elements and mystical beings. There is no blood and gore, just minimal scenes of bone breaking. The movie has a bunch of loveinterest but no nudity or adult content; just a high point of a love tango between Kurt Russel and Kim Cattrall characters throughout the movie, passionate kisses, and women in lingerie. They have great use of special effects but some scenes where cheesy. I wish they did not make Kurt Russel character as much of an idiot and loner, this would have made the love story
  • 13. Reminiscence of Birches Reminiscence of Birches Robert Frost s Birches is a poem that makes incites towards the shortness of one s life. In the poem, Frost reminisces on his childhood, and remembers it all too well. The poem is meant to help the reader to reflect on his /her own life and leave them wanting to treasure moments of the present more intensely. The poem encourages its readers to think about what great things lay ahead, while looking at the positive side of life. Although Frost knew the tree branches were bent because of the ice storms, he liked to look at things in a more analytical way. Throughout the poem, Frost imagines that a young boy would play on the birchtrees and climb Toward heaven, till the tree could bear no more (Line 56). Frost intends for his readers to look at things in a brighter perspective. It is obvious that the author has gotten old, and feels as if time went by too fast. Frost highlights the fact that the character longs to return to the time when he was a young boy, swinging on trees. Robert Frost uses Birches to express melancholy towards growing old and accepting death. The life of Robert Frost brought many disappointments and eventually accomplishments. Mr. Frost s life began on March 26, 1874 in San Francisco, California. During his childhood, he experienced the sadness and abuse of an alcoholic father. When he was only eleven years old, his father died at the young age of 34. As a young boy Frost played baseball, trapped animals and climbed

  • 35. The Views Of Abraham Lincoln A more recent myth that has developed is the theory that Abraham Lincoln was homosexual. This myth came to light in 1999 when Larry Kramer, the founding member of the Gay Men s Health Crisis, made the statement that Lincoln was homosexual and backed up his statement with diary excerpts from Lincoln s bunkmate s Diary. The excerpts read: He often kisses me when I tease him, often to shut me up... He would grab me in his long arms and hug and hug... our Abe is like a school girl (Steers 126). • 44. Dreams And Imagined Visions By Tennyson As early as the second section we are told of Hallam s final burial below a Yew, whose fibres net the dreamless head of Hallam. Tennyson s choice to focus on the dreamless aspect of his friend s skull above any other adjective such as lifeless or thoughtless places an emphasis on dreams at an early point in the poem. Dreams act as a place inbetween the hard, sometimes unbearable reality of Tennyson s loss and the unreachable state of heaven that Hallam is in. Dreams and imagined visions are the places where Tennyson is able to truly grapple both the pain caused by the loss of his friend and the accompanying religious doubt. It is one of these dreams that Tennyson comes into contact with a mysterious angel of the night who transforms the symbolic crown of thorns he is wearing into leaf . He reach d the glory of a hand, That seem d to touch it into leaf; The voice was not the voice of grief, The words were hard to understand. The angel mentioned could either be a version of the spirit of Arthur Hallam, with which Tennyson enters into many passages of imagined dialogue, or a dreamt version of a Christian angel, partaking in a transformative process. The ambiguity of the situation is important, while it seems unlikely that it is Hallam s true spirit given Tennyson s continuous desire for that very encounter in much of the rest of In Memoriam the very suggestion combined with the restorative process of a positive force provides a note of hope

  • 49. Erik Eriskson s Eight Stages of Personality Development Erik Erikson was a psychoanalyst and based his work off of Sigmund Freud s ideas about the structure and topography of personality. Unlike Freud s idea that personality is shaped by the age of five, Erikson believed that personality continues to change over the life span. With this theory in mind, Erikson came up with a stage theory of personality development. Stage theories assume that (1) individuals must progress through specified stages in a particular order, because each stage builds on the previous stage, (2) progress through these stages is strongly related to age, and (3) development is marked by a major discontinuities that usher in dramatic transitions in behavior (Weiten, 2008). Erikson s stage theory was broken down into eight stages that progressed through life. Each stage encountered a crisis that needed to be resolved before the person could move onto the next stage. Each stage builds upon what has gone before and carries elements of itself into future stages (Hopkins, 1995). The eight stages Erikson purposed were trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame and doubt, initiative vs. guilt, industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. confusion, intimacy vs. isolation, generativity vs. self absorption, and integrity vs. despair (Guinee, 1998). Stage one, trust vs. mistrust, children would ask the question whether their caregivers met their needs or not. This stage happened between birth and one year of age (Dunkel Sefcek, 2009). Examples of this include Civil Wars or Wars of Revolution within a Nation State where a group organizes itself, forms a military or insurgent force and attempts to overthrow or separate from the primary Nation State. Clausewitz briefly refers to non state actors or as he called them, people in arms in his book On War. He saw this as a new phenomenon of warfare that steamed from the French Revolution under Napoleon. Recognizing that Clausewitz was aware of non state actors, his definition of war can be reviewed in the context of the time it was written. Clausewitz s definitions of war are suitable to both State and non state actors. He defines war as: 1) an act of force to compel our enemy to do our will; 2) a clash between major interests, which are resolved by bloodshed that is the only way in which it differs from other conflicts; and 3) fighting, for fighting is the only principle in the manifold activities generally designated as war. The attributes that Caesar shows has gained him the trust of all of the people, already proivng just how worthy he is to be called the greatest authorityfigure in Shakespeare s drama The Tradgedy of Julius Caesar. One of the first things to recognize about Caesar is how he listens to what others have to say, which is a very important trait to find in a leader. For example, when he is walking through the streets and a man calls for him, Caesar says, Who is it in the press that calls on me?/ I hear a togue shriller than all the music/ Cry Caesar! Speak. Caesar is turned to hearВЁ(I.ii.15 17), and when Calpurnia, his wife, tells him that he should stay home because of a frightening dream he eventually gives in and tells Decius why he will not go to the Senate, ВЁThe cause is in my will: I will not come./ That is enough to satisfy the Senate;/ But for your private satisfaction,/ Because I love you, I will let you know./ Calpurnia here, my wife, stays me at homeВЁ(II.ii.71 75). Although he was reluctant at first to his wife s suspicions, after hearing her out Caesar decided to yield to Calpurnia s wishes. This proves that Caesar does indeed listen to those around him, and considers what they have to say. Caesar also proves to be very observant later in the story. He goes on to say,ВЁYond Cassius has a lean and hungry look/ He thinks too much, such men are dangerousВЁ(I.ii.194 195). He tells Antony how dangerous Cassius is, and then goes into depth on why heВґs so suspicious. He wants to be the great hero and gain respect from his people. Oedipus wants to find the killer and be recognized because of that. Furthermore, in the book Oedipus the King, Oedipus said, I hold the throne that he held then, possess his bed and a wife who shares our seed. We mostly raised money by selling goods, but I was driven to be an example of giving back by providing a good attitude, lessons to inspire kindness, and implemented events. When I realized how much money my ideas made, I couldn t stop innovating new ways to promote our purpose. This drove me to do more which lead me to go speak on television and ask for donations during my chorus concert. As I thanked them, I reminded them how grateful we are to be a part of a community that s bonded together by love. When we reached our goal of $15,000, we used that money to buy a student glasses, send a child to the doctors, bought some clothes for someone in need, etc. Holiday Hope inspired me and taught me how one person could make a huge impact while bringing people
  • 57. Federal Elementary And Secondary Education Act Essay The last century in American history has yielded educational reforms, federal legislations, school improvement plans and interventions, which consistently influence best practices in school systems. After the report, A Nation at Risk (1983), the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965 was reauthorized in 2001 as the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act (U.S. Department of Education, 2001). This reauthorization was a call to attain educational equality for all American students and to lessen the achievement gaps between and among ethnicity groups, children of poverty, and disabled populations (U.S. Department of Education, 2001). Additionally, because of this increased scrutiny of student performance, other classification categories emerged such as gender. Investigating college readiness by looking at the data for particular groups pinpoints definite achievement gaps. The profile of a college student in the United States reveals that about 60% of recent graduate are not college ready (Kirst, 2007). High school graduation data broken down by ethnicity indicates that 97% of African Americans and 90% of Hispanics are not college ready upon high school completion (Collins, 2009). This percentage compares to 33% of Caucasian and 25% of Asian students being college ready at high school completion (Bettinger Long, 2007). Further, an investigation of gender disparities reveal that males and females tend to perform similarly on college readiness
  • 58. Analysis Of The Text The Of The Bible There are many things which are similar and differences in both texts about the whole story of creation, some of them are noteworthy and would be explained as the essay proceeds. Philo, in his interpretation of the text was more lenient and warm in his attitude towards women. He does not cite woman as to be the mother of all evil and suffering in heaven and earth, and he has a warmth towards womanwhile handling issues of creation(Charlesworth. et al, 2010 ). While Midrash is a little cynical of the role of woman in heaven and earth. The first similarity between the two interpretations can be observed by the question as to why does scripture call the likeliness of woman a building ? it is explained in both texts that the harmonious coming together of man and woman is figuratively a house, and everything which is without a woman is imperfect and homeless. Man is entrusted the public state of affairs, while the woman holds the affairs of home. While a woman is near home, household management is proper and diligent. The second question to which we find the similar interpretation of both Philo and Midrash was why was woman, unlike other animals and man, was not formed from earth and created by side of man. The first reason both interpretations present is that woman is not equal in honor with man. The second is that woman is not equal in age to man, and she is younger to man in age. Both interpretations suggest that man should take care of woman as necessary part of him, and
  • 59. Supply And Elasticity Of The Volkswagen Diesel-Engine Golf Introduction Volkswagen company is operating in a perfectly competitive UK market (Holweg et al, 2009, pp4,5). This means that there are a large number of buyers and sellers of cars and most cars firms are price takers when it comes to raw materials such as steel(Ng et al, 2017)(Parkin et al, 2005, p54). In this market, every firm sells cars, different styles but the same function is to travel (Parkin et al, 2005, pp190). This essay will be assessing the major influences of Demand, Supply and Elasticity of the Volkswagen diesel engine Golf. Demand The law of demand is the quantity of a good demanded per period of time, will fall as price rises and will rise as price falls, this suggests that other factors remain the same, ceteris paribus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As demand comes from the behaviour of consumers, these external factors would have a negative effect on the demand of VWG. For example, a reduction in consumer s income will reduce willingness to buy luxurious items, because of a rise in the cost of living (Parkin et al, 2005, pp54,55). Leading customers to buy a cheaper car with lower insurance rates, but similar functions, a substitute product (Parkin et al, 2005, pp55). Diesel is a complementary good for the VWG diesel engine models (Sloman and Wride, 2009, p34,35). This means that any changes to the pricing of diesel would influence the quantity demand of VWG diesel cars. Especially, as there is an increasing rate of inflation and governmental concerns on carbon emission (Lea, 2017, pp1 3). Currently, the government has decided to go back on their tax cuts made in 2001(Asthana, 2016)(Swinford and Collins, 2014). This may increase the price of diesel in the further future, making prices a lot steeper for owners of diesel engined cars (Swinford and Collins, 2014). This would decrease the quantity demand of future buyers towards diesel engine cars, such as VWG, however, it is more likely for the Volkswagen e Golf to see an increase in quantity demanded as the influence of government spending ВЈ600 million electric cars and charging points, and working with manufacturers to reduce emissions (Asthana, 2016). Eventually, the use of
