Essays On Time Management
Embarking on the task of writing an essay on time management proves to be a challenging
endeavor that demands a unique blend of organizational skills, introspection, and a deep
understanding of the elusive nature of time itself. Time management, being a multifaceted
concept, requires a nuanced approach to capture its essence comprehensively.
One of the primary challenges lies in delving into the intricate layers of time management,
dissecting its various dimensions, and providing meaningful insights. Crafting an essay on this
topic demands not only a theoretical understanding of time management principles but also a
practical application of these principles in real-life scenarios. This necessitates a careful balance
between research and personal experience, as anecdotes and examples play a crucial role in
elucidating the effectiveness of time management strategies.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to the need for clarity and coherence in presenting the ideas.
Striking a balance between being informative and engaging poses a constant dilemma. The essay
must be structured in a manner that captivates the reader's attention from the introduction,
smoothly transitions through the body, and culminates in a compelling conclusion. Achieving this
flow requires meticulous planning and meticulous consideration of every word and sentence.
Moreover, the challenge lies in making the essay relatable to a diverse audience. Time
management is a universal concern, but its application varies across professions, age groups, and
cultural contexts. Crafting an essay that resonates with readers from different backgrounds
demands an empathetic approach to understanding their perspectives and tailoring the content
accordingly.
In conclusion, writing an essay on time management is a formidable task that necessitates a
profound understanding of the subject, a balance between theory and practice, and the ability to
connect with a diverse audience. However, the rewards of imparting valuable insights into a skill
that transcends various aspects of life make the effort worthwhile.

Black Americans Receive A Stricter Punishment Than
White...
Without a doubt, black men in the United States continue to be excessively
incarcerated, policed, and sentenced to death at significantly higher rates than their
white counterparts (Kerby 2). Portrayals in the media have depicted black men as
thugs and common criminals; these negative stereotypes demoralize men of color
and allow society to believe and internalize this destructive thinking. The racial
disparities that exist in the criminal justice system are an indirect consequence of the
portrayals of African Americanmen that circulate in society. Because of racial
disparities that occur in the United States it consequently threatens communities of
color by disenfranchising thousands by limiting voting rights and denying equal
access to employment, housing, public benefits, and education to millions more
(Kerby 2).
Two professors from the University of British Columbia and the University of
Michigan Law School, M. Marit Rehavi and Sonja B. Starr recently conducted a
study that confirms that Black Americans receive a stricter punishment than White
Americans. According to the study Black Americans receive almost sixty percent
longer prison sentences than white Americans who committed the same crime
(NewsOne 1). Dr. Rehavi and Dr. Starr gathered their data from fifty eight thousand
federal criminal cases and determined that the sentences that Black people received
varied significantly from those given White people (NewsOne 2). Assistant Professor

Optimism And Relationships
Optimism s relationship with well being and satisfaction with life has been well
studied, even before positive psychology was seen as a major topic in psychology.
Optimism is positively correlated with life satisfaction (Szczesniak Soares, 2011). A
students degree of optimism is a predictor of satisfaction with life and distress in
college (Brissette, Scheier, Carver, 2002; Yalcin, 2011). Newlyweds who were higher
in optimismsolved problems more constructively, had lower decline in marital well
being in the first year of marriage, and were better able to handle relationship trouble
(Andersson, 2012a; Neff Geers, 2013). A husbands optimism is associated with
marital satisfaction early on while a wife s optimism is associated with greater...

There are differences and problems that still need to be clarified. For the sake of this
article, optimism and pessimism are shown as one dimension, with someone low in
optimism being high in pessimism. However, there are contradictory ideas about
whether optimism and pessimism are unidimensional or two dimensions. There is
evidence to support the theory that they are unidimensional with low optimism being
the same as high pessimism and vise versa (Rauch, Schweizer, Moosebougger,
2007). However, there is evidence to support the theory that they are two separate
dimensions and people can be high or low in both optimism and pessimism
(Herzberg, Glaesmer, Hoyer, 2006). Additionally, optimism studies are largely done
on European Americans so there is no clarification on the universality of the results.
People from eastern cultures experience more positive emotions when they are
experiencing negative emotions so they might be more optimistic than western

Harley Health Center Research Paper
Health centers are a necessary part of all campuses across the nation. To have a
health center on campus is a promise to all the students to provide them with quality
health care that will help one maintain a physical, mental, emotional, social and
spiritual state of health. On the Sweet Briar College campus, that has always been a
healthcenter, however it has been moved from building to building from 1906 to
1925, where the infirmary was located in various buildings on campus, including the
Sweet Briar House, and Faculty Row Guest House (Mary Harley Student Health and
Counseling Center). The Mary Harley Health Center was built in 1925, and this was
the first permanent home of the infirmary. The building was named after Mary

This is a smart design so that students that may become sick, with a contagious
disease, will not affect the entire campus, they can become quarantined in a room,
in a building separate from the rest of campus. The position of the building is
important, it sits on top of a hill, and is in between the dormitories and faculty row,
so it is not limited to certain persons that may access it, rather it is open to all
those. It is also important to note that there used to be a doctor that ran the
infirmary, where as today we have a nurse practitioner, a person who is not nearly
as qualified as a doctor. This is because of the location. Before automobiles were
more popular, before the towns of Amherst or Lynchburg were more established,
going to a doctor would have been more difficult to access. Having a doctor on
campus was very important to ensure the health and wellbeing of all the students at

Romeo And Juliet Star Crossed Lovers Quotes
Do people fall in love? Patricia Highsmith. Romeo and Juliet was the beginning of the
tragedy of themselves as star crossed lovers. The purpose of this essay overall is to
show how I agree with Shakespeare that Romeo and Juliet were star crossed lovers
whose fate did not end good. What are star crossed lovers? According to Webster
Dictionary star crossed lovers is a pair of lovers that are not lucky and have bad
luck. Star crossed lovers refers to any lovers whose affection for each other is
doomed to end in tragedy. Lovers whose relationship is foredoomed is said to be
frustrated by the stars (Webster Dictionary.) Those who believe in astrology claim
that the stars control human destiny. Anybody who is considered to be in a star

they were both partaking in the games. Juliet and Romeo could not be together
because of their families. Both couples were cursed from the start. Without the
Gamemakers faces. They d have failed the Capitol. Might possibly even be
executed, slowly, and painfully while the cameras broadcast it to every screen in
the country, (The Hunger Games.) Katniss and Peeta were both willing to commit
suicide instead of killing one another. The Games wanted the star crossed lovers to
be the last ones, so they could watch one of them sacrifice their life for the other. In
Romeo and Juliet they both took their lives so they could be together. What have
they done to you? Katniss asked Peeta (Mockingjay Part One.) Peeta was hijacked,
tortured, and brainwashed by the Capitol until he thought Katniss was his #1 enemy.
He wanted to hurt Katniss really bad. She never gave up on Peeta and she did not

The First Commercial Nuclear Power Plants
The first commercial nuclear power plants were constructed in 1950. The public
was promised a non polluting and resourceful type of energy. Although there are
less than 500 nuclear power plants in the world, but many nuclear accidents have
already been endangering civilian lives, such as the accidents in Three Mile Island,
Chernobyl, and the most recent Fukushima Diichi. Nuclear energy may appear to be
the ideal source of energy for the future. However, there are uncontrolled situations
that cause the reactor into meltdown and lead to disaster. On March 11, 2011 Japan
experienced an earthquake, which has become the most terrible and destructive in
the history of this country. In term of geography, Japan is situated in the earthquake
prone area, on the junction of four plates: the Eurasian, Pacific, North American and
Philippine. The Eurasian plate is slowly moving to the east, and three others to the
west, so their friction causes earthquakes. Japanese know about the danger based on
their country geography, but they were not ready for this kind of disaster. A 9.0
magnitude earthquake struck at 2.46pm about 70km east of Tohoku at an offshore
subduction zone, where two tectonic plates collide and one slides beneath the other.
According to IBT news, Its centre was on the seafloor at a 24km depth, this
earthquake was so powerful it shifted Earth on its axis of rotation. The energy
released by the earthquake produced a huge tsunami, with waves up to 30ft beginning

Effectiveness of the Tory and Whig Arguments Prior to the...
Effectiveness of the Tory and Whig Arguments Prior to the American Revolution In
the eighteenth century, the American Revolution played a vital role in determining
the future of the American colonies. Prior to the Revolution, propagandas from both
the Tories and Whigs influenced the choices that Americans make. Both sides
exchanged attacks and accusations in their publications, while also presenting
realistic evidence and logical reasoning to back their doctrine and arguments. Two of
the many documents preceding the Revolution are especially interesting in terms of
their structure of presentation. Letters of a Westchester Farmer, composed by
Reverend Samuel Seabury, offers arguments favouring... Show more content on

He then provides logical reasons for his claims throughout the document, focusing on
the issue of those agreements. This structure is extremely effective, given that the
arguments are sequential and connected. Likewise, Common Sense has a similar
structure that also creates a comparatively same degree of effectiveness. The
document first proposes its doctrine, ...as much hath been said of the advantages of
reconciliation, which, like an agreeable dream, hath passed away..., [3] and then
answers each of the charges the Tories make. Unlike the structure of the earlier
document, Common Sense poses a question or an accusation from the Tories, and
rebuts it with the Whigs doctrine and Paine s reasoning. The structure of this
document is more effective in terms of impact. As in the earlier document, the
reverend does not counter Whigs view, but only express his opinions about them.
Contrary, this document offers a scope of the Tories point, and persuades the
Americans that the Whigs view is more logical by comparing the two sides. In short,
Common Sense is more effective than the Letters of a Westchester Farmer in terms of
structure, due to its more comprehensive reasoning behind the doctrines. Besides the
structure, the validity

Environmental Impacts Of Environmental Disasters
Introduction Environmental damage that is caused by just one individual is
exclusively minor which causes it to be unnoticed, whereas a major group of people,
such as a large corporation harming the environment at once causes major harm to
society. More than a century of industrial development has caused negative
environmental impacts such as global warming, ozone depletion, and air and water
pollution. These are recognized as global environmental problems that need
immediate solutions. Climate change, as an international environmental issue, is
getting a great deal of attention as it has become a global issue. In the last few
decades, there has been a heightened awareness of environmental issues by
governments, policy makers, advocacy groups, business firms, and the public all over
the world. The corporate role in this, the potentially most severe and all encompassing
of environmental disasters, is quite clear as business activities are effecting climate
change negatively. This paper will argue that in order to minimize the negative effect
of environmental harm and climate change, the undertakings of corporations should
be structured and encouraged to perform in a socially responsible manner. This will
be examined through the discussion on the legal structure of corporations and the
desire of regulators and victims looking to hold them accountable for their
environmental harm. It will be followed with a description of the importance of
corporate social responsibility. This
My Vacation
We want to escape from our mundane routines, fly somewhere tropical with plenty
of booze, and forget about Sharon in the opposite cubicle who never stops
snapping her gum. Resort hotel or cruise ship, it doesn t matter. Just let me enjoy
my measly two weeks of vacation while I can. We will then reluctantly return with
embarrassing raccoon eyes from falling asleep on the beach with our sunglasses on
and get back to work. When Sharon, between gum snaps, peers over the cubicle
wall and asks how our vacation was, we ll merely shrug and say, Relaxing. And then
it s back to waiting for the next opportunity to return to Kokomo. While this type of
vacation may be rejuvenating and necessary for some people, more American
travelers should strive for adventure rather than convenience in their travels. Instead
of soaking up the sun, try soaking up the culture. You may find you ll have a lot more
to talk about when you return.
The first step is reconsidering your destination. Mexico, The Bahamas, Jamaica these
are beautiful tourist spots, but they re conventional. Millions of people travel to
these places every year, and they come back with basically the same stories of white
sand beaches and hotel buffets. Instead, consider less well traveled places: Vietnam,
Romania, South Africa, Mongolia places many Americans might have a hard time
identifying on a map. When I met my future partner, Rojina, in college, one of the
first things she told me was that she was from Kathmandu,

Due to the rapid economic development in three megacities in China, there has been a
significant increase in the amount of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs) in
both the gaseous form and in the form of particulate matter( PM2.5 and PM10). On
account of the rise of concentrations of PAHs in the air, the amount of both seasonal
and annual pollution has increased well above the standard and national averages.

PAHs can be formed by incomplete combustion of carbon containing fuels such as
wood, coal, diesel, fat, tobacco, and incense(Zhang, Chen, Lv, 2016).This study is
seeking to determine the chemical constitution for major PAHs, observe and identify
the different seasonal variance in which there is the most pollution, and identify the
source of the PAH pollution in Beijing, Shijiazhuang, and Tianjin that are believed to
cause cancer, mutations and birth defects. In order to answer the questions of this
study multiple resources were deployed and experiments carried out. First air samples
were collected from the following cities, Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, and the
reference city, Datong. Air samples were also taken from four cities, Nanling,
Shennongjia, Pangquangou, and Changbaishan, that were all background sites. The
sample sizes are listed in the table below.
These samples were collected at varies times of the year including, spring, summer,
fall, and winter over twenty three hours for five to seven days for the three
megacities and the reference city. Samples for the background sites were collected
over thirty to thirty six hours on two occasions. A particulate sampler was used for
PM2.5 and PM10 sampling (Zhang et al., 2016). After samples were collected they
were stored at four degrees Celsius. Samples were then analyzed using certain
The Collapse Of The Third Reich Essay
Following the collapse of the Third Reich, Germany was facing an uncertain future.
It was divided amongst four nations with different ideas on how to handle the Nazis
who remained and what to do about the future. The Potsdam Agreement dictated
how the remains of Germany were to be divided amongst the United States, the
United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, and France. It also dictated that Nazi influences
were to be purged, with Nazi laws being repealed and war criminals put to trial and
punished for their actions.[1] In the American occupied zone, one of the major
projects undertaken by the United States government was to denazify their region.
Despite the denazification process being a major point of focus for the United
States, the process was slow, inconsistent, and poorly executed. As a whole, the
American attempt to denazify their German territory was a failure due to several
factors, most of which stemmed from the fact that the United States attempted to use
judicial systems to shape their ideal political system. They removed anyone in power
during the Third Reich from power, and set up a series of questionnaires and trials to
punish those with Nazi connections. The tribunal system was slow, inefficient, and
Americans and Germans had different ideas of how severe punishments should be.
As a result, a fraction of the perpetrators they wished to punish actually ended up
receiving any repercussions, those that did were not punished for years. Many
German civil servants were
Child Abuse And Neglect Cause Juvenile Delinquency
Child Abuse and Neglect cause Juvenile Delinquency Strain theory describes the idea
that there are certain events and conditions in an individual s life that are disliked and
involve the inability to achieve goals, loss of positively valued stimuli, and
presentation of negative stimuli (Brezina and Agnew). Child neglectand abuse can be
described by this theory, and often is, because of its elements and the effect it has on
children. Before the idea of child abuseand neglect causing juvenile delinquencycan
be argued, juvenile delinquency must be defined. Brezina and Agnew define
juvenile delinquency as law violations committed by minors. One of the largest
debated consequences of child abuse and neglect is it causes juvenile delinquency
in victims. Juvenile offenders are view by the justice system as immature in the
sense that they are less capable of appreciating the consequences of their actions,
less able to exercise self control and more easily lead astray by others. Supports of
this claim say abuse causes delinquency because weak bonds, low self control, and
confrontation with negative stimuli. There are three theories that all describe the
reasons why child abuse and neglect lead to juvenile delinquency. This first of these
theories is the social bonding theory which states that the weaker the bond between
parent and child, the more likely the child is to become delinquent as stated by
Ronald Akers. A parent s role in an adolescent s life is to foster a social
Cause And Effect Of Bullying In School
Dr.Martin Luther King Jr states that In the end we will remember not the words of
our enemies but the silence of our friends this quote develops the idea that friends
standing up and speaking up for the victim is more valuable than silence in the
moment and they re comfort when no one else is present. Bullyingin school affects
the students as it may cause distractions or long term problems among children.
Depending on how bystanders respond, they can either contribute to the problem
or the solution when it comes to the initial conflict. Some people genuinely do not
know what to do to help, others fear the bully will seek them out next as a target.
To really help in a bullying encounter you have to know what responsibility you
have in the situation. Bystanders may not think they are in the wrong for leaving
the conflict alone but really they are just as much part of the problem as the bully
themselves. The barriers to intervening are both real and powerful for young
people. For youths it is a very real possibility that doing the proper thing for
someone else will equate to doing the wrong thing for their own social status. When
bystanders intervene they can stop bullying within 10 seconds over 50% of the time
(bscsd.org bystanders). To empower kids to speak up and stand up they must be
taught how to effectively assess the situation at hand and recognize if it is safe to say
something themselves or better inform and adult about it. As well as teaching them

Saturday Night Fever Research Paper
Normally, when most people think about the 1970s (Avoid broad statements like
this...), one of the first things that comes to mind is music. So much music came out
in that decade, and the majority of it was influential on the time period (What do you
mean by this statement? How was it influential? Again, avoid big, broad statements
like this). One of these styles of music, disco is one of the most well known and
thought of during the time. Because so many people loved disco, there was no
particular demographic and everyone could enjoy the time at the newly popular
discotheques. It was described by Steve D Aquisto as like a cross between outer

Because of the mainstream shift, thanks to Saturday Night Fever. music was
revolutionized forever. Artists such as the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Michael
Jackson and the Village People were all successful disco musicians that changed
music for the better. Each one of those artists, and many more had their albums
played in clubs on the weekend, and everyone would dance to them. A lot of
people did not like this music however. Specifically, there was two groups that
opposed disco music after Saturday Night Fever. One of these groups were the
original members of the underground disco scene. A quote from a review of
Saturday Night Fever by disco historian Dennis Brumm states That movie was
about a group of straight, homophobic, racist, Italian American twentysomethings
in New York who went dancing wearing odd looking clothes and probably too
much aftershave lotion. They looked nothing much like the people I saw or knew
in gay discos. In addition to this, not did disco become a mainstream success due to
this movie, but its soundtrack was also a raging success. The Bee Gees Saturday
Night Fever quickly became the best selling movie soundtrack of all time, as well
as the highest selling pop album, until eclipsed in 1982 by Michael Jackson s
Thriller. After these two things, disco was everywhere in the late 70s. Everything
was disco (Everything?); Disco remixes, disco integration into other genres, and
even more movies. There was another group of people that despised this. These
people hated disco and all it stood for. Many protests to stop disco were held in
major cities around the country, to try and get disco out of the American culture.
The Day the Disco Died occurred on July 12, 1979. This was a campaign held by
the Chicago White Sox, and would be a disco demolition night; everything from
records to anything else disco would be destroyed. This was organised by Steve Dahl,
a former DJ at a radio station which became
How Did Australia Contribute To The Western Front
The Western Front was fought between 1914 and 1918 where the Australians
contributed in many different battles. After the outbreak of WW1 in 1914, the
German Army opened the Western Front by first invading Luxembourg and Belgium,
then gaining military control of important industrial regions in France. Australian
forces contributed to 26 battles across Germany, Belgium and France, however often
ending in stalemate. Australians contributed through the enhancement of warfare and
tactics, conditions and cures and the commemoration of fallen soldiers. The

It shows the harsh and terrible conditions, which the Australian troops, experienced,
whilst in the trenches. Great, sleek, corpse fed rats ran in squads between our legs
depicts the dirty conditions of which, the Australians experienced, where sixteen per

death in Australian troops. In the winter the weather would get down to below zero.
There were reports of Australians toes falling off, after freezing and contracting
gangrene. This would occur when the trenches were filled with mud up to their
ankles in a trench two metres wide and 2 metres high. When the Australians arrived at
the Western front, the first thing they saw were the lines of wounded soldiers being
taken to the rear. As they got closer, they could feet the earth shake, and hear the
constant crump of artillery shells. This was known as trench foot and not uncommon
in Australian soldiers. George states, It is one of the things Kipling forgot to tell us

enduring sacrifices that they made in these harsh conditions evaluates the
contribution of Australian soldiers to the Western Front
Rhetorical Analysis Of Thoreau s Civil Disobedience
Rhetorical Analysis of Thoreau s Civil Disobedience A man once said That
government is best that governs least, that man is John L. O Sullivan who argues
that government is evil . Thoreau takes this quote as a motto and centers his work,
Civil Disobedience around this opening quote. The quote itself is self explanatory
and the fact that Thoreau heartily accepts this motto, tells us that he disapproves
of government and its interference in our affairs. Thoreau would like to have no
government at all but as he speaks as a practical citizen, he is asking not to get rid
of government entirely, but to get a better one [724]. He wants the people in
government to focus on what is right instead of what the law says is just. If there s
laws that our conscience tells us, is wrong, then we should rebel against them
because if we have knowledge on the issue, and don t do anything to prevent it,
then in a way we are supporting it. Thoreau says Cast your whole vote, not a strip of
paper merely, but your whole influence. He persuades his readers of his ideas
through classical argument. Thoreau uses logos, pathos, and repetition, as well as
analogies and metaphors to clearly present his reasons on why its better to have a
government that governs least or have no government at all. Throughout the essay,
Thoreau uses logicand reasoning. At first glance, you ll notice that the essay is
written in first person. He writes the essay as if it is a speech or lecture, giving his
The Issue Of The Juvenile Justice System Essay
1.1Introduction
The term juvenile is derived from a Latin word Juvenis meaning Young (who has not
attained the age of 18 years). A Children have been recognized supremely assets of the
Nation. The government of India through its National Policy for Children stated that
their nurture and solicitude are our responsibility. Equal opportunities for
development to all children during the period of growth should be our aim, for this
would serve our larger purpose of reducing inequality and ensuring social justice.
Children ought to have been the subject of prime focus of development planning,

Constitutional vision of a healthy and happy child protected against abuse and

India is a signatory to UN Declaration on The Rights of the Child, 1959 which
defined and recognized various Rights of the children namely: The right to health and
care, the right to protection from abuse, the right to protection from exploitation, right
to protection from neglect, right to information, right to expression and right to

This paper is about the understanding of the Rhetorical Structures as they pertain to
audience, purpose, and context and how they affect the argument of whether taxes
should be raised on higher income brackets in order to fund social programs for at
risk and underserved, low income children. I will discuss the relationship between the
audience, purpose, and context to the context of the argument.

The second audience for this group is the low income families of at risk, and
underserved, low income children. They need to be educated on the benefits that
could come from the higher taxes. In my opinion, the higher income bracket can
afford the higher taxes to fund some of these programs. The cost of living, food,
gas, and housing all affect the income of many families in the US. If they
understood what could come from the taxes, they could get some reissuance as to
vote on such a bill if it came up to vote for the public. Education on the subject of the
current tax laws would be a good example of what the different taxes brackets that
are used today in the US. Lower income families would jump on the idea of being
able to send their children to a soccer camp, or baseball camp. According to an
article on Taxing the rich is good for the economy , raising taxes on the higher
income bracket would reduce the taxes on low and middle income families. This
would also allow for those families to keep more of their income to use towards these
programs.
All in all I think it would be a beneficial idea to entertain. The context of the
economy, food, and taxes all play an important role in this argument. The higher
income bracket would be resistant to the idea until they were presented with facts on
the cost and the minimal decrease in
Divine Intervention In The Odyssey
Men and Gods Divine Intervention in the Odyssey
If you are the father that you claim, Grant that Odysseus, son of Laertes; May never
reach his home on Ithaca Polyphemus to Poseidon (Book 9:527)
The Odyssey is one of the ancient Greek tragedies that describe in epic detail, the
mediation between gods and the mortal men. The Nostos of the Achaean hero seeks
to illuminate the relation between the gods and the humans, and how the gods being
possessors of various powers worked as spiritual advisors and supporters for their
subjects. In The Iliad, the relation between the gods and the humans had a more
passive characteristic. The gods never influenced or manipulated the lives of the
mortals, but maintained their distance and tried to be more ... Show more content on

Athena liking Odysseus wit and courage during his conquering of Troy tries to
assist him in his return in various ways. Towards the beginning of the story, it can
be seen that Athena tries to convince her father Zeus, who happened to be the King
of the Gods to inform Calypso, who was the captor of Odysseus to release him or
else face dire consequences. Zeus in turn, sends Hermes, who is also known as the
God s Messenger, approaches Calypso and informs her of the two possible
outcomes of the situation. This mediation between the Gods and Calypso who also
happens to be a Goddess shows that divine intervention can also apply between two
gods. The meddling of Athena in Odysseus affairs is not just limited to getting
Odysseus out of sticky situations. She is also shown visiting Odysseus home in
Ithaca to console his son, Telemachus and gives him the advice to go and meet
Nestor of Pylos and Menelaus of Sparta, to find out if they would have any
information regarding his father. This also illustrates another characteristic of Athena
whenever interacting with her favorite mortals, she tries to disguise herself as either
a character that is known by them, or in the form of a harmless person like a young
child. When she visits Ithaca, Athena does not display her divine

to learn. For example, many are unaware of the thrill from jumping out of plane and

degree, and investments for the future. Starting on weekends, he drinks to relieve
old memories of fun college times. During the week, he stops by for local happy

Without Treatment
When jail replaces treatment, the individual does not receive the necessary medical

impair judgment to make decisions. An individual may begin to experiment with
other forms of drugs as a means to coping with daily life. Criminal behavior may
follow. Eventually, the person will be back in front of a judge with another arrest for

Rehabilitation is the best option for stopping the addiction/criminal offender cycle.
Repeat offenders waste time and money with court hearings and incarcerations.
Providing individuals with resources to end the addiction process is the better choice.

Sylvia Plath The Bell Jar
Sylvia Plath s novel, The Bell Jar, shows that the mores of America contribute to the
mental deterioration of some of the most creative and introspective of people. The
novel is basically an autobiography one which is a strange mix of mundanity,
grotesqueness, barbarity, nature, and glamour. Something dark and insidious perturbs
the author s stand in protagonist, Esther Greenwood, in both traumatizing and prosaic
circumstances. The novel remains iconic in American culture due to its resonance
with feminists and mental health experts, as well as the shocking suicide of its
author. Plath was raised in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Her father, Otto Plath, was an
apiologist and professor. (Martin, Stevenson, Oxford Press University) Aurelia Plath,

Recycling And Recycling Of Papers
First, when paper isn t recycled, 80% of it is placed in landfills. Decomposition of
the paper in landfills produces methane, a greenhouse gas with twenty one times
the power of carbon dioxide. U.S. EPA has identified landfills as the largest
beginning of methane emanation in the U.S., and the refraction of paper is the
largest contributor to the methane being generated. If paper is recycled, it doesn t
end up in the waste stream, headed for a landfill where it will degrade and generate
methane. Simply out, the less paper landfilled, the less methane emitted. The more
way to recycle all materials, the less it goes into places where trash is being dumped.
Second, recyclingalso improves air quality by reducing the need for power. By
collecting, processing and shipping recycled stuff to industrial users requires less
energy than mining, refining, processing and shipping natural resources according to
Pennsylvania s Department of Environmental Protection. That s a good sight because
the more power the United States uses, the more fossil fuels it burns. The higher the
fossil fuel use, the more pollutant diligence pumps into the atmosphere.
Manufacturing updated news report out of recycled paper requires less energy than
making paper out of wood. Production of 100% recycled poster board uses 50
percent less energy compared to virgin grades of paperboard, thus significantly
reducing the greenhouse released into the atmosphere. Third, paper recycling leaves
more trees standing

Three Types of Costs When Quality Considerations
Memo to my supervisor Jane Doyle
Hi Jane
I would like to bring to your attention three types of costs when quality
considerations are made here at Acme Catsup Company. The first costs would be our
failure costs. The second would be our appraisal costs. The third is the cost of
prevention.
With failure costs some of the costs would be equipment break downs and spills. Our
equipment costs 3 million dollars so we don t want to replace it for at least 10 years.
The routine maintenance for the equipment is $500,000 a year. The cost for the
spills is a total of $120,000 a year. That includes $50,000 for the training classes on
spill prevention and $70,000 for the salary of two new spill prevention workers.
Some costs of appraisal would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the spills we would have to hold extra training classes to train the existing
workers to stop the machines before the spills happen. We would also have to hire
two new workers to clean the spills as soon as they happen. The training would cost
$50,000 and prevent 80% of the spills. The two new workers would cost $35,000
each per year for a total of $70,000. That $120,000 would be well spent because we
are spending $500,000 now on spills and breakdowns.
The tradeoff associated with appraisal costs would also be profitable to Acme
Catsup Company. Right now we are losing 3 million a year because of returns and
defective products. The new data collecting system and third party audits would
reduce returns and defects by 90%. This would save us $280,000. The cost for this
data collection and third party audits would only be $70,000 a year. This is a small
price to pay considering the amount of money we will save.
The cost of prevention is well worth the tradeoff. Mistake proofing, scheduled
maintenance and Six Sigma will cost out company approximately 2 million a year.
We will see the benefits of mistake proofing and scheduled maintenance after the
first few months. These two things alone will save the company 5 million a year.
Six Sigma will take a little longer to see the results of because of the lengthy process
to implement it. After the second year we will see huge
Community-Based Juvenile Prevention
Community Based Juvenile Prevention Programs presents the most appropriate
solution to juvenile challenges across the United States. The country should promote
community based juvenile prevention programs because the programs offer practical
and more cost effective solution to juvenile problems compared to the formal juvenile
justice system. The programs are superior because they promote adolescent
development, keep the community safe, and more cost effective compared to the
formal juvenile justice system. Also, the programs safeguard the youths from the

America s Strategic Thinkers Who Think Asia Essay
This essay s topic required to evaluate the opinion that the US s strategic thinkers who
think Asia is more important than the Middle East, are said to be not understanding
the situation of the States in today s international context, and the affections onto its
interests. Considering the importance of the Middle Eastto Asiawill be the focus of
this paper, in which the writer agreed with the assumption. Moreover, there will be
reasons why the Middle East is still more important than Asia, along with comparison
for each. And by the end of this essay, with backing from the main part, the
conclusion will be able to show the supports for the mentioned opinion.
To begin, we will start with the historical background of the US with the Middle East
and Asia (mostly the US and the Middle East), in order to set a fundamental
understanding.
American government, for the whole historical period was likely to pursue
interests beyond her land s border. There is an opinion that presidents since Harry
Truman have recognized that there were four basic interests in the Middle East the
Security of Israel, access to oil, cooperation with the Soviet Union (since the
collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the interests doesn t exist anymore. Instead is
the relation with Russia), and the upholding of certain principles. (Tillman, 1982, p.

and the other is the claim to religious origins. Oil seems to be the

time is right for her to sell. She didn t want to be in Burt s Bees forever and she

In fact, failure has been shown to be a better teacher than success, Roxanne has

strength to strength if she sold the company and start fresh in her dream country
Informative Speech On Jane Addams
Good morning, my name is Jane Addams and it s lovely to be here with all of you.
While in London with my close friend Ellen Gates Starr in 1888, we visited
Toynbee Hall which was a settlement house that aided poor industrial workers.
Witnessing those provided services first hand ultimately sparked my desire to bring
that system of aid to the United States in order to help lower classes. When Starr and
I initially founded the ChicagoHull Housein 1889, we both intended for institution to
be a place where educated women were able to share their skills and knowledge to
the poorer immigrants. Yet it became a overall center for one to experience higher

Who I Am I
Many obstacles in my life have made me who I am today. I was raised in West
Portsmouth, Ohio, a small town built off football and family. Life in a small town
seems to go by very slowly. It s all about what you make out of it. Certain events
and certain people have influenced me in a way that has made me a better person.
The character of one s self is built from all the hard times we go through in life, not
always off of the easy ones.
My father has had a major influence on me during the course of my life, thus far. My
dad was in the Marine Corps before I was born. He was always strict with me with
every aspect of my life and has always pushed me to be a better person. Growing up,
I would see him get up early and come home late from work. He is a very hard
working man and I hope I develop at least half of his working abilities. He has taught
me the majority of what I know now. He is a very smart man and it s great to have a
role model like that as my father.
My mother always played a more studious role in my life. She graduated from
Shawnee State University with a degree in nursing. She is a very smart woman and
has always pushed me to get good grades and go to college. I could honestly say that
I wouldn t have received half the good grades as I did if it wasn t for her always
checking up and being there for me with my schooling. She s always had a job as
well and she strives to make me a better person religiously and mentally day by day.
The motivation she brings to me

No-Kill Shelter Essay
No Kill Shelters During a crisis of pet overpopulation, it right to kill animals
simply because they are not wanted? Or is it ever right thing to do? The United
States is faced with the problem of what should be done with the excess of stray
animals. This is a complex thing to solve, but that doesn t mean killing the animals
for space is right. Stray dogs and cats have just as much right to a good home as
pets that already have owners. No Kill shelters are beneficial, they provide a safe,
pet friendly environment that would help solve the problems of pet homelessness
and overpopulations, as a result of spay and neuter being provided as well. For a no
kill shelterto work, it requires the cooperation of multiple staff members and... Show

The private shelters accept upon how they kill the stray dogs and cats but then
how is the history so much worse? A problem has grown among animal lovers. On
one side are the traditional shelters that euthanize to make space for more animals.
On the other side are those that call themselves no kill . They represent a rage of
shelters from all over the country that won t euthanize any animal on their
property. No Kill shelters are gaining popularity in the United States, According to
one source, More than 600 shelters and that s just a fraction. The popularity has
put pressure on the other shelters to become no kill (Fasseas). Now there are two
different sides to the story, half of the people agrees upon euthanize animals for
space and the other half agrees that there should not be any kill shelters here in this
area or anywhere in the country. Some of the shelters in California are amazing, at
Sonoma County s animal shelter has new policies for the crowded conditions and are
working to reduce the number of healthy animal s that are killed. Dog and cat owners
who may want to give up their pets have to make an appointment with the shelter
staff to discuss alternatives. Healthy animals will be taken in only if the space is
available, otherwise the owners must wait. According to one source, Most public
shelters have around 393,000 cats that enter public shelters and it increased to
25,000. About 278,000 cats were killed in shelters in
My Preferred Learning Style
1.How can I use my preferred learning style to my advantage at school (especially
in subjects I find challenging)? My preferred learning style is auditory. I can use
mnemonic devices, such as flash cards with audio to my advantage in school. The
repetition of the flash cards would help me in science where there is lots of
information to remember. Reading the information, text, stories, assignments, out
loud would help me to fully understand the context. I can also read my drafting
work out loud, so that it is less likely to miss any errors. During class, I can ask my
teacher more questions or to explain certain concepts. As a visual learner, I can rely
on diagrams and pictures to help me in science practical. I can get a clear image of

Human Nature And Science Corrupts Human Beings
Jean Jacques Rousseau believed that technology, knowledge and science corrupts
human beings, and that human nature is good. The more knowledge a person has,
the more greed they have or the more money a person has they believe they are
better than another person. Some also believe the more money they have, the more
problems they will have in their life. There is a saying that goes it s better to be
poor and happy than being rich and miserable. I believe that the experiences that one
is to have matter the most in the world, I rather be poor and happy than rich and
miserable. If you have all the money in the world and you are not happy with
yourself, the money does not mean anything. In the case of technology, it is
something that corrupts humanbeings. People do not think for themselves anymore,
they have become inadequate thinkers. Human beings rely on technology so much,
that it is something we have become attached to. In life, it is better to strive for a
simple life. Once a person has enough, they should try to keep the simplicity that
keeps them happy. Striving for more does not necessarily mean you will have the
happiness that you been looking for. Having just what you need, many do not depend
on material objects to bring them happiness, as in some many think that these
material items will bring happiness into their life, which is not true. Striving for
happiness in the sense of striving for more in money does not matter in the end. In
the end, we all end up
Introduction Of Safety Management System Essay

Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAA) provides a Safety Management
System (SMS) to be implemented by New Zealand aviation organisations which
provides an organised approach of preventing the accidents or undesirable incidents.
This SMS proposed by Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand provides complete

Death Is Impossibly Unpredictable By William Cullen
Bryant
Life s Certainty Life is impossibly unpredictable. However, one certainty exists in
life: death. Even though it is certain, it provokes the deepest and most fearful
reaction. Why is death so dreaded? It is something that many find hard to comprehend
because of its finality, mystery, and unpredictability. Death
surrounds each and every
one of us at every stage of life, whether it is the death of a family member or friend
or worse, the fear of death of someone close, even ourselves. The confusion and
negativity of death can become consuming as people search for meaning and
understanding. It is universal, unavoidable, and inevitable. The concept of death
leaves us yearning for answers and meaning, ultimately culminating in fear of the
unknown and in death itself. Although we may not know the answers, we look for
ways to palliate this fear and curiosity through rituals, religion, or simple self
discovery. William Cullen Bryant s Thanatopsis helps us to understand that death
must not be feared, rather embraced. Through depictions of nature s sympathy as
well as death s universality and painlessness, Bryant comforts us about death and
portrays it in a reassuring and positive light. Bryant begins the poem by establishing
both the deep connection between death and nature in life, as well as the recourse
nature offers us in death. He states that when we die we will [lose] each human trace

Gender Inequality In Society
Malala Yousafzai once stated, We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back.
The concept that women are inferior to men has been around since the dawn of time.
If the human race cannot be proactive in altering this ridiculous ideology nothing
will ever change. Gender inequality as stated by the Oxford Dictionary is A social
process by which people are treated differently and disadvantageously, under similar
circumstances, on the basis of gender. This can include unequal career opportunities,
unequal wages for the same occupation, unequal education opportunities, etc. The list
could extend for miles. Today more than ever our country needs equalityfor all to
ensure the timely advancement of our society. Ultimately, gender inequality is one
of the most pressing issues in our nation as well as the world today; women are
constantly being targeted in violent manners, denied basic freedoms and a plethora of
opportunities because of the sex they were born with or chose to become.
First and foremost, crimes against women have been on the rise for several
decades. One example of these crimes is femicide. Femicide is defined as the
killing of a woman or girl, in particular by a man and on account of her gender.
Recently these horrific killings have been increasing. In 2005 1,181 women in the
United States were murdered by an intimate partner. This averages out to three
women a day. Additionally, rapecrimes in the US affect so many of our women and
girls. In 2006, 232,960

Time management, being a multifaceted concept, requires a nuanced approach to capture its essence comprehensively. One of the primary challenges lies in delving into the intricate layers of time management, dissecting its various dimensions, and providing meaningful insights. Crafting an essay on this topic demands not only a theoretical understanding of time management principles but also a practical application of these principles in real-life scenarios. • 2. Black Americans Receive A Stricter Punishment Than White... Without a doubt, black men in the United States continue to be excessively incarcerated, policed, and sentenced to death at significantly higher rates than their white counterparts (Kerby 2). Portrayals in the media have depicted black men as thugs and common criminals; these negative stereotypes demoralize men of color and allow society to believe and internalize this destructive thinking. The racial disparities that exist in the criminal justice system are an indirect consequence of the portrayals of African Americanmen that circulate in society. Because of racial disparities that occur in the United States it consequently threatens communities of color by disenfranchising thousands by limiting voting rights and denying equal access to employment, housing, public benefits, and education to millions more (Kerby 2). Two professors from the University of British Columbia and the University of Michigan Law School, M. Marit Rehavi and Sonja B. Starr recently conducted a study that confirms that Black Americans receive a stricter punishment than White Americans. According to the study Black Americans receive almost sixty percent longer prison sentences than white Americans who committed the same crime (NewsOne 1). Dr. Rehavi and Dr. Starr gathered their data from fifty eight thousand federal criminal cases and determined that the sentences that Black people received varied significantly from those given White people (NewsOne 2). • 3. Optimism And Relationships Optimism s relationship with well being and satisfaction with life has been well studied, even before positive psychology was seen as a major topic in psychology. Optimism is positively correlated with life satisfaction (Szczesniak Soares, 2011). A students degree of optimism is a predictor of satisfaction with life and distress in college (Brissette, Scheier, Carver, 2002; Yalcin, 2011). Newlyweds who were higher in optimismsolved problems more constructively, had lower decline in marital well being in the first year of marriage, and were better able to handle relationship trouble (Andersson, 2012a; Neff Geers, 2013). A husbands optimism is associated with marital satisfaction early on while a wife s optimism is associated with greater... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are differences and problems that still need to be clarified. For the sake of this article, optimism and pessimism are shown as one dimension, with someone low in optimism being high in pessimism. However, there are contradictory ideas about whether optimism and pessimism are unidimensional or two dimensions. There is evidence to support the theory that they are unidimensional with low optimism being the same as high pessimism and vise versa (Rauch, Schweizer, Moosebougger, 2007). However, there is evidence to support the theory that they are two separate dimensions and people can be high or low in both optimism and pessimism (Herzberg, Glaesmer, Hoyer, 2006). Additionally, optimism studies are largely done on European Americans so there is no clarification on the universality of the results. People from eastern cultures experience more positive emotions when they are experiencing negative emotions so they might be more optimistic than western

To have a health center on campus is a promise to all the students to provide them with quality health care that will help one maintain a physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual state of health. On the Sweet Briar College campus, that has always been a healthcenter, however it has been moved from building to building from 1906 to 1925, where the infirmary was located in various buildings on campus, including the Sweet Briar House, and Faculty Row Guest House (Mary Harley Student Health and Counseling Center). The position of the building is important, it sits on top of a hill, and is in between the dormitories and faculty row, so it is not limited to certain persons that may access it, rather it is open to all those. It is also important to note that there used to be a doctor that ran the infirmary, where as today we have a nurse practitioner, a person who is not nearly as qualified as a doctor. On March 11, 2011 Japan experienced an earthquake, which has become the most terrible and destructive in the history of this country. In term of geography, Japan is situated in the earthquake prone area, on the junction of four plates: the Eurasian, Pacific, North American and Philippine. Effectiveness of the Tory and Whig Arguments Prior to the American Revolution In the eighteenth century, the American Revolution played a vital role in determining the future of the American colonies. Prior to the Revolution, propagandas from both the Tories and Whigs influenced the choices that Americans make. Both sides exchanged attacks and accusations in their publications, while also presenting realistic evidence and logical reasoning to back their doctrine and arguments. Two of the many documents preceding the Revolution are especially interesting in terms of their structure of presentation. He then provides logical reasons for his claims throughout the document, focusing on the issue of those agreements. This structure is extremely effective, given that the arguments are sequential and connected. Likewise, Common Sense has a similar structure that also creates a comparatively same degree of effectiveness. The document first proposes its doctrine, ...as much hath been said of the advantages of reconciliation, which, like an agreeable dream, hath passed away..., [3] and then answers each of the charges the Tories make. Unlike the structure of the earlier document, Common Sense poses a question or an accusation from the Tories, and rebuts it with the Whigs doctrine and Paine s reasoning. The structure of this document is more effective in terms of impact. As in the earlier document, the reverend does not counter Whigs view, but only express his opinions about them. Contrary, this document offers a scope of the Tories point, and persuades the Americans that the Whigs view is more logical by comparing the two sides. In short, Common Sense is more effective than the Letters of a Westchester Farmer in terms of structure, due to its more comprehensive reasoning behind the doctrines. Besides the structure, the validity

Environmental Impacts Of Environmental Disasters Introduction Environmental damage that is caused by just one individual is exclusively minor which causes it to be unnoticed, whereas a major group of people, such as a large corporation harming the environment at once causes major harm to society. More than a century of industrial development has caused negative environmental impacts such as global warming, ozone depletion, and air and water pollution. These are recognized as global environmental problems that need immediate solutions. Climate change, as an international environmental issue, is getting a great deal of attention as it has become a global issue. In the last few decades, there has been a heightened awareness of environmental issues by governments, policy makers, advocacy groups, business firms, and the public all over the world. The corporate role in this, the potentially most severe and all encompassing of environmental disasters, is quite clear as business activities are effecting climate change negatively. This paper will argue that in order to minimize the negative effect of environmental harm and climate change, the undertakings of corporations should be structured and encouraged to perform in a socially responsible manner. This will be examined through the discussion on the legal structure of corporations and the desire of regulators and victims looking to hold them accountable for their environmental harm. It will be followed with a description of the importance of corporate social responsibility. This

It was divided amongst four nations with different ideas on how to handle the Nazis who remained and what to do about the future. The Potsdam Agreement dictated how the remains of Germany were to be divided amongst the United States, the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, and France. It also dictated that Nazi influences were to be purged, with Nazi laws being repealed and war criminals put to trial and punished for their actions.[1] In the American occupied zone, one of the major projects undertaken by the United States government was to denazify their region. Despite the denazification process being a major point of focus for the United States, the process was slow, inconsistent, and poorly executed. As a whole, the American attempt to denazify their German territory was a failure due to several factors, most of which stemmed from the fact that the United States attempted to use judicial systems to shape their ideal political system. They removed anyone in power during the Third Reich from power, and set up a series of questionnaires and trials to punish those with Nazi connections. The tribunal system was slow, inefficient, and Americans and Germans had different ideas of how severe punishments should be. As a result, a fraction of the perpetrators they wished to punish actually ended up receiving any repercussions, those that did were not punished for years. Many German civil servants were

Child neglectand abuse can be described by this theory, and often is, because of its elements and the effect it has on children. Before the idea of child abuseand neglect causing juvenile delinquencycan be argued, juvenile delinquency must be defined. Brezina and Agnew define juvenile delinquency as law violations committed by minors. One of the largest debated consequences of child abuse and neglect is it causes juvenile delinquency in victims. Juvenile offenders are view by the justice system as immature in the sense that they are less capable of appreciating the consequences of their actions, less able to exercise self control and more easily lead astray by others. Supports of this claim say abuse causes delinquency because weak bonds, low self control, and confrontation with negative stimuli. There are three theories that all describe the reasons why child abuse and neglect lead to juvenile delinquency. This first of these theories is the social bonding theory which states that the weaker the bond between parent and child, the more likely the child is to become delinquent as stated by Ronald Akers. A parent s role in an adolescent s life is to foster a social

Bullyingin school affects the students as it may cause distractions or long term problems among children. Depending on how bystanders respond, they can either contribute to the problem or the solution when it comes to the initial conflict. Some people genuinely do not know what to do to help, others fear the bully will seek them out next as a target. To really help in a bullying encounter you have to know what responsibility you have in the situation. Bystanders may not think they are in the wrong for leaving the conflict alone but really they are just as much part of the problem as the bully themselves. The barriers to intervening are both real and powerful for young people. For youths it is a very real possibility that doing the proper thing for someone else will equate to doing the wrong thing for their own social status. When bystanders intervene they can stop bullying within 10 seconds over 50% of the time (bscsd.org bystanders). Specifically, there was two groups that opposed disco music after Saturday Night Fever. One of these groups were the original members of the underground disco scene. A quote from a review of Saturday Night Fever by disco historian Dennis Brumm states That movie was about a group of straight, homophobic, racist, Italian American twentysomethings in New York who went dancing wearing odd looking clothes and probably too much aftershave lotion. They looked nothing much like the people I saw or knew in gay discos. In addition to this, not did disco become a mainstream success due to this movie, but its soundtrack was also a raging success. After these two things, disco was everywhere in the late 70s. Everything was disco (Everything?); Disco remixes, disco integration into other genres, and even more movies. There was another group of people that despised this. These people hated disco and all it stood for. The quote itself is self explanatory and the fact that Thoreau heartily accepts this motto, tells us that he disapproves of government and its interference in our affairs. Thoreau would like to have no government at all but as he speaks as a practical citizen, he is asking not to get rid of government entirely, but to get a better one [724]. He wants the people in government to focus on what is right instead of what the law says is just. If there s laws that our conscience tells us, is wrong, then we should rebel against them because if we have knowledge on the issue, and don t do anything to prevent it, then in a way we are supporting it. Thoreau says Cast your whole vote, not a strip of paper merely, but your whole influence. He persuades his readers of his ideas through classical argument. Equal opportunities for development to all children during the period of growth should be our aim, for this would serve our larger purpose of reducing inequality and ensuring social justice. Children ought to have been the subject of prime focus of development planning, research, and welfare in India but unfortunately, it has not been so. • 29. Sylvia Plath The Bell Jar Sylvia Plath s novel, The Bell Jar, shows that the mores of America contribute to the mental deterioration of some of the most creative and introspective of people. The novel is basically an autobiography one which is a strange mix of mundanity, grotesqueness, barbarity, nature, and glamour. Something dark and insidious perturbs the author s stand in protagonist, Esther Greenwood, in both traumatizing and prosaic circumstances. The novel remains iconic in American culture due to its resonance with feminists and mental health experts, as well as the shocking suicide of its author. • 31. Recycling And Recycling Of Papers First, when paper isn t recycled, 80% of it is placed in landfills. Decomposition of the paper in landfills produces methane, a greenhouse gas with twenty one times the power of carbon dioxide. U.S. EPA has identified landfills as the largest beginning of methane emanation in the U.S., and the refraction of paper is the largest contributor to the methane being generated. If paper is recycled, it doesn t end up in the waste stream, headed for a landfill where it will degrade and generate methane. Simply out, the less paper landfilled, the less methane emitted. The more way to recycle all materials, the less it goes into places where trash is being dumped. Second, recyclingalso improves air quality by reducing the need for power. By collecting, processing and shipping recycled stuff to industrial users requires less energy than mining, refining, processing and shipping natural resources according to Pennsylvania s Department of Environmental Protection. Three Types of Costs When Quality Considerations Memo to my supervisor Jane Doyle Hi Jane I would like to bring to your attention three types of costs when quality considerations are made here at Acme Catsup Company. The first costs would be our failure costs. The second would be our appraisal costs. The third is the cost of prevention. With failure costs some of the costs would be equipment break downs and spills. Our equipment costs 3 million dollars so we don t want to replace it for at least 10 years. The routine maintenance for the equipment is $500,000 a year. The cost for the spills is a total of $120,000 a year. That includes $50,000 for the training classes on spill prevention and $70,000 for the salary of two new spill prevention workers. Some costs of appraisal would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the spills we would have to hold extra training classes to train the existing workers to stop the machines before the spills happen. We would also have to hire two new workers to clean the spills as soon as they happen. The training would cost $50,000 and prevent 80% of the spills. The two new workers would cost $35,000 each per year for a total of $70,000. That $120,000 would be well spent because we are spending $500,000 now on spills and breakdowns. The tradeoff associated with appraisal costs would also be profitable to Acme Catsup Company. Right now we are losing 3 million a year because of returns and defective products. The new data collecting system and third party audits would reduce returns and defects by 90%. This would save us $280,000. The cost for this data collection and third party audits would only be $70,000 a year. This is a small price to pay considering the amount of money we will save. The cost of prevention is well worth the tradeoff. Mistake proofing, scheduled maintenance and Six Sigma will cost out company approximately 2 million a year. We will see the benefits of mistake proofing and scheduled maintenance after the first few months. These two things alone will save the company 5 million a year. Six Sigma will take a little longer to see the results of because of the lengthy process to implement it. After the second year we will see huge

The more knowledge a person has, the more greed they have or the more money a person has they believe they are better than another person. Some also believe the more money they have, the more problems they will have in their life. There is a saying that goes it s better to be poor and happy than being rich and miserable. I believe that the experiences that one is to have matter the most in the world, I rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable. If you have all the money in the world and you are not happy with yourself, the money does not mean anything. In the case of technology, it is something that corrupts humanbeings. People do not think for themselves anymore, they have become inadequate thinkers. Human beings rely on technology so much, that it is something we have become attached to. In life, it is better to strive for a simple life. Once a person has enough, they should try to keep the simplicity that keeps them happy. Striving for more does not necessarily mean you will have the happiness that you been looking for. Having just what you need, many do not depend on material objects to bring them happiness, as in some many think that these material items will bring happiness into their life, which is not true. Striving for happiness in the sense of striving for more in money does not matter in the end. In the end, we all end up

  • 46. Death Is Impossibly Unpredictable By William Cullen Bryant Life s Certainty Life is impossibly unpredictable. However, one certainty exists in life: death. Even though it is certain, it provokes the deepest and most fearful reaction. Why is death so dreaded? It is something that many find hard to comprehend because of its finality, mystery, and unpredictability. Death surrounds each and every one of us at every stage of life, whether it is the death of a family member or friend or worse, the fear of death of someone close, even ourselves. The confusion and negativity of death can become consuming as people search for meaning and understanding. It is universal, unavoidable, and inevitable. The concept of death leaves us yearning for answers and meaning, ultimately culminating in fear of the unknown and in death itself. Although we may not know the answers, we look for ways to palliate this fear and curiosity through rituals, religion, or simple self discovery. William Cullen Bryant s Thanatopsis helps us to understand that death must not be feared, rather embraced. Through depictions of nature s sympathy as well as death s universality and painlessness, Bryant comforts us about death and portrays it in a reassuring and positive light. Bryant begins the poem by establishing both the deep connection between death and nature in life, as well as the recourse nature offers us in death. He states that when we die we will [lose] each human trace /To mix for ever with the elements (24 26). By establishing the underlying harmony between

The concept that women are inferior to men has been around since the dawn of time. If the human race cannot be proactive in altering this ridiculous ideology nothing will ever change. Gender inequality as stated by the Oxford Dictionary is A social process by which people are treated differently and disadvantageously, under similar circumstances, on the basis of gender. This can include unequal career opportunities, unequal wages for the same occupation, unequal education opportunities, etc. The list could extend for miles. Today more than ever our country needs equalityfor all to ensure the timely advancement of our society. Ultimately, gender inequality is one of the most pressing issues in our nation as well as the world today; women are constantly being targeted in violent manners, denied basic freedoms and a plethora of opportunities because of the sex they were born with or chose to become. First and foremost, crimes against women have been on the rise for several decades. One example of these crimes is femicide. Femicide is defined as the killing of a woman or girl, in particular by a man and on account of her gender. Recently these horrific killings have been increasing. In 2005 1,181 women in the United States were murdered by an intimate partner. This averages out to three women a day. Additionally, rapecrimes in the US affect so many of our women and girls. In 2006, 232,960
