This lab deals with the transpiration rates in plants, specifically a tomato plant that
was used for this experiment. Transpiration is when water leaves a plant through the
stomata as water vapor while the stomata is capturing CO2 for photosynthesis. This
experiment used three different scenarios: a tomato plant with a light shining on it, a
tomato plant with wind blowing on it from a fan, and lastly a tomato plant with
nothing acting on it. The hypothesis is that the rate of transpiration will be fastest
with light, faster with wind, and slow with the control. This hypothesis was rejected
because the rate of transpiration is as follows with the wind having the fastest rate:
with light the rate was 7.60 mm/min, with wind 10.20 mm/min, and control 4.33 mm
/min. The cause of the wind having a faster transpiration rate than the light may have
been due to the surface area of the leaves on the tomato plants. The surface area of the

Archaeology is flawed and that we must look at approaches used before its adoption
and integrate parts of those approaches into the study of archaeology. He points out
that Symbols in Action helped him to develop three ideas regarding how to do this.
First, we must consider that material culture has meaning. Second, that the individual
is important to the development of theory in archaeology; and finally that archaeology
is most closely related to history and should consider that in its approach. In looking
at meaning in material culture Hodder brings up how ethnographic work showed that,
contrary to previous belief, interaction between cultures could actually lead to a more
marked difference in their pottery styles. He also referenced burial practices and

and events that we would go through great lengths to try to reverse or change the
outcome of in the future. We might decide to not take a specific date to the prom,

Rawlsproposed a similar question in his theory of the original positionin A Theory of

If I could meet the author I would feel a little nervous. I would feel uncomfortable
asking him any questions because I wouldn t know how he would react: would he
get emotional? Would he get annoyed? Would he act fine because he gets questions

talk about drug and alcohol addiction and how it impacted his life and others around

Okay, so I m a bit late, but I don t know how many of you diehard sports fans read
this book. You see, it s more about life than it is about football, even though one of
the main characters is former Baltimore Colts defensive lineman Joe Ehrmann, now
a minister and defensive coordinator for a Baltimore private school, albeit one with
what now has become a perennial power in the East. And while the book might fail
in its quest to become the next Tuesdays With Morrie (its short length and book
jacket combine to try to give you that image), it is a book worth reading.
If you re a father, a son looking to connect with a father, a coach of boys, a teacher of
boys or a leader of boys, you should read this book. Basically, Ehrmann and the

In fact, the book is also about Marx, his life s journey, his connection with Ehrmann
that dated back to when he was a high school kid going to tennis camp at a different
private school where the Colts held their training camp, and his relationship with
his father. While Marx does a good job of describing Poggi s and Ehrmann s
attempts to build better men, he falls a bit short in developing the parallel them of
connecting with his father. In this portion of the book, Marx holds back a bit and
doesn t give us much depth of context as to his historical relationship with his
father. All he reveals is that his father was hard working and first told him he loved
him when he was in his twenties. There s no description of a Great Santini here, no
comparison to Ehrmann s father, an absent, itinerant stevedore who worked the
Great Lakes and slapped him silly when he was a very young boy, so, in a sense,
you have the author giving you a view of his life without revealing much. I don t
think that this book would have become a Tuesdays With Morrie for men looking to
be better men anyway, but had it had a chance to do so, Marx failed it with the
incomplete effort regarding his relationship with his father.
That said, I acknowledge that I m being a bit of a tough critic here. Perhaps the
Tuesdays with Morrie motif created expectations for this book that were too high.
Perhaps I was looking for comparable excellence in the parallel themes that Marx
adroitly created. All that said, Marx s book is very much worth reading. Poggi and
Ehrmann and men worth listening to and following, and Marx himself gives some
helpful hints about trying to heal the void he obviously carried with him about the

music. The most blatant effect of the music is the cheesy MIDI arrangements. These
outdated compositions portray the tackiness of Napoleon; he and the music are
clearly out of style. One of the crudest examples of this is when Napoleon buys his
suit; the muzak in the background is as unbearably corny as Napoleon s taste in

style. There was one audio technique, however, that was extremely puzzling. In every
scene inside a house, there is a very subtle background of birds chirping. This
emphasizes the fact that Napoleon lives a rural community, rather than a busy suburb
or city setting. This sound is extremely understated, however, and is obviously
intended to be a subconscious feature to the viewer.
Napoleon uses some of his own characteristic sounds in the film to facilitate who he

of the mother and the narrator. She fits the role of a tough, traditional and loving
single mother. My acquaintance Mama Johnson would be the best candidate for this
part. Mrs. Johnson may not have a lot of money but, has always provided for her
two girls Dee and Maggie. After a house fire that destroys their home, the Johnson s
rebuild and keep their familytraditions alive.
Mama Johnson was born in the mid 1990 s, because the era she was born in was
such a different time period than today s generation, it brought hardships for
young black women. Mrs. Johnson grew up having very little money so; Mama
parents taught her the ropes in order to help take care of her family. These skills help
Mama out when she becomes older and starts a family of her own. Mrs. Johnson
barely mentions her girls father but, as far as I can tell he is not their lives. So being
raised as a poor girl had its advantages because she now knows the ropes on how to
be a mother and provide for her family like a father.
Mrs. Johnson also takes pride in hard work and she works just as good has a man if
not better. Mama could do anything from shooting and skinning hogs to working
