St. Patrick Leadership Traits
Sometime during 387 AD in Great Britain and the United Kingdom St. Patrick was
born. One thing he was known for, was how he was captured at the age of sixteen by
Irish pirates. While he was captured he became devoted to Christianity through
prayer. Another reason he was known was how he spread Christianity throughout
Ireland. Lastly, he is known for the legacy he has left behind in Ireland. St. Patrick is
a leader and shows many great characteristics. (www.wesleyjohnston)
One reason St. Patrick is known is his journey of finding god. In the early fourteen
hundreds he was kidnapped by Irish pirates and he had to work as a slave for six
years tending sheep. St. Patrick confessed that he discovered god during his
captivity. He prayed a hundred times a day that he would escape and that life would
be better. Patrick had a vision of children reaching out their hands to him grew
determined to convert the Irish to Christianity. After six years Patrick escaped and
traveled two hundred miles cross country to start his missionary work. After Patrick
found god he now had plans to turn Ireland to nothing but Christianity.

Patrick had a successful time spreading Christianity throughout Ireland. His first
step in starting to spread Christianity was becoming a priest. A couple months later
he returned to Ireland because he kept having visions. Patrick s visions showed
how we supposed to become a Christian missionary to spread Christianity to the
people of Ireland. Patrick s first church was Saul, he preached to the kings and their
households and met with varied levels of success. He had a method that was to
Christianize the Celtic Pagan festivals. Patrick lit an Easter bonfire on these hills
where he also preached the word. One famous thing is known for while at the
lighting of the Easter bonfire is having the three leaf clover to explain the concept of
trinity.

When the read/write head touches the rotating platter of a hard disk, it leads to
head crash. When even the smallest bit of dust enters the sealed drive unit and
settles on magnetic surfaces, it gets stuck in the thin gap between the head and the
disk. Dropping a disk to the floor may also cause hard disk malfunction. Not only
this, even the slight jerk or vibration can unsettle alignments and lead to hardware
malfunction. (b) Sudden catastrophic failure: When you cannot detect the presence
of the hard drive in the CMOS setup or when the operating system doesn t locate
the hard drive, it s logical to think that the data loss has occurred. This POST failure
results in hard drive to become inactive. This is when you hear the clicking noise
from the hard drive. Sudden temperature variations may directly influence the data

information is electrical failure, which can occur any time. Electrical failure is the
direct effect of the circuit board failure, which is located on the bottom of the hard

installation are some of the various causes leading to electrical failure. It is important
to keep the system clean and well ventilated; otherwise, it may cause electrical
components to fail functioning properly. Hence, it is recommended to keep the

Gene Reproductive Research Advantages And
Disadvantages
Ningkang Zhang
LS 201 05
In this paper, I will discuss the earthshaking but controversial technology, gene editing
of human reproductive cells. Gene editing of human reproductive cell is using special
technology like clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (shorten by
CRISPER) to edit the gene manually before the reproductive transplanted to mother s
womb. In 2014, Chinese scientist Huang, J published his paper about the gene editing
of human zygote of triprokaryote which is a cell like embryo but cannot grow up to a
normal fetus. His research led to heated discussion on whether this technology
should be studied. This research could bring epic medical and scientific value, it
could put an end to several tough hereditary diseases including thalassemia and
sickle cell disease, which are hard to cured with traditional medical technology.
Conversely, it still has several disadvantages, the research will lead to several ethic
controversies and the application could result in dangerous social issue. Currently, in
science community, the feasibility and the potential risks of this technology are
under heated discussion, and it is hard to come into a common agreement. Based on
current science condition and common perceive, nowadays, I don t think the research
and application should be supported because in my view, some of the disadvantages
are not acceptable and some potential risks are unaffordable. In my view, scientists
shouldn t go on with the further research
Loss of Innocence in Truman Capote s In Cold Blood Essay
All things truly wicked start from an innocence, states Ernest Hemingway on his
view of innocence. Innocence, what every youth possesses, is more accurately
described as a state of unknowing but not ignorance which connotation suggests a
blissfully positive view of the world. Most youth are protected from the harsh
realities of the adult world. Therefore they are able to maintain their state of
innocence. While innocence normally wanes over time, sometimes innocence can be
abruptly taken away. Some of the characters in Truman Capotes In Cold Bloodlost
their innocence due to the traumatic events they experienced in childhood and
adulthood while some had none to begin with.
Innocence can be stolen but the desire to return to the ... Show more content on

Parents are supposed to shelter their children from the fraudulent outside world and
keep their purity intact. Perry Smith, murderer of the Clutter family, had an
upbringing that was marked by brutality and lack of concern on the part of both
parents. Due to his childhood he seems to have grown up without direction, and
without ever having absorbed any fixed sense of moral values. He felt no regret
for murdering the family, only that he felt sorry that they were the ones that ... had
to pay for it. While Dick considered Perry as innocent, he had never been with a
woman , he believed Perry was a natural born killer who attaches little real value to
human life . Perry s tragic upbringing had turned him into a cold blooded killer
unaware of the beauty of innocence, which he so easily stole from the Clutter family
the moment he killed them. Innocent people cannot be protected from the individual
whose innocence is not present.
If innocence is not present in an individual it cannot be protected. An individual of
this kind makes choices that effect how corrupt they can become. Dick Hickock had
a loving family, who supported and loved him as he grew up. Even though he was in
a nurturing environment that protected him from the corrupt society around him, he
still became a criminal. This shows that innocence, if not present in the first place,
cannot be salvaged. After passing hot checks he was put in jail where his jealousy of
Rome And Carthage In The Second Punic War
Introduction
The first things we can look at about Rome and Carthage is Rome s citizens and
Carthage s wealth. We can draw conclusions from these and begin to compare both.
One of the prominent things about Rome was its hand to hand combat skills of its
soldiers. Rome was not originally a navy, but had to become a naval power to take
on Carthage. Before Rome ever faced Hannibal in the second Punic war (B.C.218
201) it faced Carthage in the first Punic war (B.C. 264 241) and had fewer losses
than it did in the Second Punic war. We can examine what Carthage s advantages
were, and what Rome s disadvantages were (Morey, 1901).
I
Rome had to build a navy to be equal to Carthage in the First Punic war (B.C. 264
241). There was an event that Carthage was using the sea to make its business with
other cities. Rome was not a naval power like Carthage. Rome did not have that
access to the sea that would guarantee supremacy. That s why the Romans decided
not to surrender to the circumstances so they could pursue Carthage and make an
impact on its sea business ventures. Carthage was the world s first naval power,
according to (Morey,1901) and Rome was its rival. Rome ... Show more content on

Rome was good at making comebacks. Carthage was good at staying in the lead.
They both were respected by other cities. They could both use the cities to their
advantage. Why would they not want to face off as they were threatening to one
another? I believe it was Rome who was threatened by Carthage especially.
(Morey,1901) Declares that Rome was alarmed as she saw Carthage s territory
extending north, Rome s rival . Most importantly, it was the conquests of the
Carthaginians that made Rome stay on track and keep pace with them. They wanted
what Carthage was doing. Carthage was conquering. Carthage was becoming greater.
Rome decided to pursue their victories over Carthage the only way it could in the

The Causes And Consequences Of The Rwandan Genocide
The Rwandan Genocide, in which nearly one million individuals are estimated to
have been murdered, took place over the course of one hundred days, from April 1994
to July 1994 (United Nations, n.d.). After Rwanda obtained independence from
Belguim in 1961, a Hutu dominated government was formed in which Tutsis (the
minority ethnic group) were viewed as lesser than Hutus (Walker, 2017). Years of
systematic ethnic discrimination against Tutsis allowed for the notion that Tutsis are
inherently lesser than Hutus to be ingrained in Rwandan society. The genocide was
further sparked by the death of Rwandan president Juvenal Habyarimana, as Hutu
extremists called for the mass killing of Tutsis and individuals with Tutsiconnections
(British Broadcasting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acceptance is conformity that involves both acting and believing in accord with
social pressure (Myers, 2013). The Rwandan civilians came to believe that the right
course of action to take was to participate in the systematic murder of Tutsis. The
radio broadcasters, besides providing justifications for the killing of Tutsis by Hutus,
congratulated the civilians who had participated in the murders of Tutsis ( Rwanda
radio transcripts, n.d.). Furthermore, the radio broadcasters labeled Tutsis as
cockroaches , which dehumanized Tutsis and thus made the rape and murder of
Tutsis appear to be less inhumane (End Genocide, n.d.). Dehumanizing Tutsis played
a role in Hutu civilians obeying orders from government supported radio stations to
kill Tutsis. In addition, as brutality becomes standard procedure within an institution,
it takes on an added legitimacy (Sabini Silver, 1982). The systematic murders and
rapes appeared as more legitimate because the government backed Hutu extremist
groups formulated lists of Tutsis and Tutsi affiliates to be targeted and sought out
these individuals for murder (End Genocide, n.d.). The job of the Rwandan militants
was to simply murder Tutsis and Tutsi supporters. Within Rwanda, civilians were
expected and encouraged by the government to kill any and all Tutsis and
Variation and Its Causes
Variation The divergence in a set of numbers in a given data range is referred to as
variation. It has common measures including variance, standard deviation and inter
quartile range that are used in measuring variation among a set of data. Causes of
variation In research data analysis, evidence suggests that the main cause of data
variation is measurement error, especially f the instruments used are not
guaranteed to provide accurate results (Jianqing, 1991). Nonetheless, chances of
errors may occur during data interpretation, recording and, or when reporting the
results. These are accredited to false assumptions that the measured quantity is
stable and that the variation are based on observational errors. Patterns of Variation
There are various patterns representative of variation. However, a bell shaped
curve is the most widely used variation pattern and is considered the normal curve.
In this curve, the highest point is indicative of the most probable occurrence. The
other curve pattern is bi modal curve, which is dual peaked. This pattern easily
identifies a process with a special cause of variation and, which has undergone
some changes. Variation pattern can also take the form of a skewed curve that
resembles a normal curve forced to lie on its sides. This is primarily a representation
of data that is not identical on both sides. Understanding Variation Variation is all
around people. There are variations in the ability to undertake functions; ways of
Household Design of the 1950 s
American corporate designers were learned in Modernist theory, but nevertheless

The consumer society of the 1950s was presented with machines such as fruit
juicers, coffee makers, vacuum cleaners and toasters that eliminated the burden of
manual tasks and increased leisure options. Designers and manufacturers continued
to appeal to the consumer s aspirations, by producing streamlined forward looking
products, targeting the American dream . In the USA the majority of people
aspired for such things as a secure job in a large corporation, a house in a nice
suburb, a large family, a large car, and an array of labour saving devices. Designers
and Manufacturers targeted this new generation of homemakers and consumers.8
Hence, design became undoubtedly linked with mass production and mass
consumption. The affluence of the decade famously summed up by British Prime
Minister Harold Macmillan as having never had it so good. 9 The consultant

Environmental Security Of The Mongolian Economy
ENVIRONMENTAL SECURITY IN MONGOLIA
When the last animal dies from famine, when the last creek dries up, when the last
tree burns down, humankind will understand that money can not be eaten .
Anonymous author from Mongolia
In spite of its wealth of natural resources of the Mongolia, protection of its
environment and resource issue has been considered as serious issue. Since 1996, the
government has extensively been implementing the policy to use wealth of natural
resource in order to promote its economy. Consequently, numerous investments of
both national and international actors play foremost role reinforcing threat to its
environmental security, however, one might argue that investments on national
resource promotes the Mongolian economy. As the economy flourishes, the
environment destruction has led to Mongolia s environmental security.
Weak policy from the government to protect its environment and natural resources
leads threat to Mongolia s environmental security.
The most serious issue that leads to environmental destruction is weak policy on
mining and water management policies. In the absence of proactive measurements
from all stakeholders, fresh water resources, such as numerous lakes, rivers, and
streams have dried up, resulting in severe water scarcity and quality crisis. Because
Mongolian mining sector is considered to be the most harmful donor to
environmental destruction unless it is correctly managed and controlled.
Trans-Panama Canal Benefits
The advantages of building a canal through Central America were known long ago.
Even at the time Christopher Columbus first arrived in the New World, it was
evident that a short cut through Central America would be extremely beneficial, but
there was never an incentive to build one until many years later. The increase in
population and trade in California because of the California gold rush demonstrated
the need for a faster and less costly trade route from western America to eastern
America. This gave the United Statesmotivation to make a shortcut, and in 1848 the
United States built the trans Panama railroad to satisfy this need ( Panama, city,
Panama ). The railroad required a ship to dock and unload the cargo, and then another
ship to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there were many disagreements in congress as to which country to build the
canal in. The U.S. Senate had already agreed upon a route through Nicaragua, but
William Cromwell of the New Canal Company acquired the rights of de Lesseps
Company and offered them to the United States for forty million dollars ( The United
States Acquires the Canal Zone ). The route through Panama was thought to be easier
to build, less expensive, and overall more advantageous than the route through
Nicaragua. It provided a head start on construction, a shorter route, and included a
railroad which allowed for easy transportation of construction equipment for the canal
(Pearson). With this information, Cromwell convinced the United States government
that the Panama route was the better option, which led congress to enact the Spooner
Act. This stated that if the president could obtain the rights from Colombia, who
controlled Panama, it would be constructed there. Otherwise, the canal would be built

In Kim et al. (2008) studies found that service quality was found to be significant
predictors affecting revisit intention in the university dining facilities.
2. PROBLEM STATEMENT Education organizations must play their own role to
provide a quality of service for students. There are research found that the most
important factor influencing customer satisfaction is food quality (Sulek and
Hensley, 2004). The findings of the study done by Liu and Jang (2009) stated that
food quality, atmospherics and service quality are some variables that important
contributors to customer satisfaction. It shows that there are always have a problem
in providing food quality and atmosphere quality to customer towards meeting their
satisfaction. Research done by Lee (2004), has shown that food quality and
convenient location are important dimensions affecting customer satisfaction which
is turn determines revisit intentions to institutional food service industries. Thus, it is
important to identify these important dining attributes in the institutional foodservice
operation especially in university dining facilities.
3. RESEARCH OBJECTIVES Having briefed on the issue, the researcher identifies
several objectives for this study. The research objectives are to: 1. Identify factors

Biological effects of Methamphetamines Methamphetamines affect the human body
in a physical and neurological and psychological way. The use of meth can lead to
devastating effects to the nervous system for example leaving the user with
nervous ticks and body jerks similar to a person suffering from Parkinson s disease.

By 1919, Japan started producing methamphetamine which was cheaper and more
potent than amphetamine. It was produced in a crystalline powder form and was able
it to be dissolved in water, making it easier for it to be injected. This form of
amphetamine is still legally produced in the US and is being sold under the name of
Desoxyn. (Montgomery County Sheriff s Office, 2010, para. 1 3) The abuse of
methamphetamines in the United States seems to have started during the Great
Depression and increased during WWI, WWII, and Viet Nam. Many times,
amphetamines were prescribed by the government and the military to keep fighting
soldiers going. After returning from their tour of duty, many soldiers returned home
addicted to the drug. Also during the 50 s and 60 s, amphetamines were being used as
a weight loss medication. But eventually began to be abused by the users. Today,
methamphetamines are abused throughout the US. It has spread like wildfire, starting

The Rise of Irish Nationalism in the Nineteenth Century
Essay
Discuss the significance of the political developments within revolutionary and
constitutional Irish nationalism from the period 1798 to 1867

The nineteenth century was a revolutionary and constitutional period in Irelands
history, that somewhat shaped the Ireland that we live in today. This essay will
explore the political developments, within revolutionary and constitutional Irish
nationalism in the period 1798 to 1867.
The late eighteenth century marked the beginning of what was to map Ireland s
future through the nineteenth century and to the present day. Ireland at this time was

Ulster Protestants now came to regard the union as the essential basis for their
prosperity. (Beckett 1981).
The first threat of nationalism after the union came in the form of an uprising by
Robert Emmet. Emmet had a poorly armed army and almost certainly knew that
chances of success were faint. But his rebellion was not about success. It was to
remind everyone that 1798 was not forgotten and he wanted to spur on the rebels in
their quest against the British. Emmet was evidently captured and sentenced to death.
He did however have one small victory in his final speech. He requested that no man
write his epitaph until his county be free . This speech had long lasting historical
value, motivating republicans and nationalist movements from then to the present day.
Daniel O Connell became a great political influence in Ireland during the 1820 s. He
had a significant effect on the political landscape in fighting for the rights of
Catholics. He brought the grievances of Catholic s to the forefront of constitutional
Irish nationalism. The creation of Catholic rent and linking politics with religion
made great strides in his campaign for Catholic Emancipation. O Connell had always
said that emancipation was only the first stage in his programme and that repeal of
the union was his ultimate goal. He didn t believe in the rebellions that went before
him. He always felt it was best to assert themselves politically rather than use

Starting a business requires some research on licensing, state laws and regulations
and finally getting things started. It also requires looking into the business entities,
taking control, taxation, and of course taking liability issues into consideration. It is
important for the business to be able to protect itself. In this paper, an extermination

The percentage should be split into three equal parts. Lou and Jose will run the
business and Miriam will be providing with the funds. Miriam along with Lou and
Jose should be equally involved in all major decisions related to the business. Lou
and Jose will run the business on daily basis. All taxes would be paid individually
based on their profits. Of course all licensing, including alcohol licensing needs to
be met, along with state laws and regulations. The restaurant/bar would have to
obey all employment laws as well. All employees have to be over 21 years of age
to be able to serve alcohol drinks to customers. Employees can not drink alcohol
during working hours. It is a good idea to have an at will employment contract with
all the employees. Due to the fact that alcohol will be served, additional insurance
may be required or necessary for the business to have.
In the construction scenario, Mei Lin is the hiring manager for Surebuild, Inc., a new

Attention Deficit Hyperactive-Disorder (ADHD)
Attention deficit hyperactive disorder is also known as ADHD. It is what makes
certain people distracted or just can t sit still. At least everyone has a little ADHD in
them, but others have some more than others. People become distracted do to their
intended focus, that stimulates distraction. Distraction comes from the stimuli in the
external environment that stimulates unrelated thoughts to the activity that someone
would be doing at that time. Stimuli is a thing or event that evokes a specific
functional reaction in an organ or tissue. When something distracting is put in front
of someone the stimuli in their head reacts and drives them off task, and start to focus
on the object distracting them. Which means areas of the brain which

Significances Of Total Solar Eclipses
A Total Solar Eclipse occurs when the visible portion of our Moon covers the visible
portion of our sun, causing it to seem like a white ring with a black center, causing
an extremely unique view of our sun and Moon. The Total Solar Eclipse can only be
seen from a few points in the world, in the umbral shadow. Most people in the world
will only see a partial Solar Eclipse, where the Moonwill only cover a portion of the
sun, due to the fact that they re in the penumbral. While not as unique, it s still a
rare sight to behold. The reason Solar Eclipses are so rare to begin with is due to
the special coincidence of the Moon and sun being the same size to our eyes. While
our sun is 400 times the size of our Moon, our sun is also 400 times farther away,
causing them to appear the same size in our sky.
As previously stated, you can only see a Total Solar Eclipse from an umbral shadow,
which is the darkest part of the shadow cast on the Earth. This only happens when the
Moon Totally covers the sun, but this is not the only factor. The Moon also has to
be close to, or at the point of perigee, the point of the Moon s orbit closest to Earth.
The penumbral shadow is only visible when the Moon only partly obscures the Sun
s disk, causing a partial Solar Eclipse, but there are still more. There s the Annular
Solar Eclipse, which is similar to a Total Solar Eclipse, but the Moon is too small
to completely cover the sun, and the Sun s outer edges remain visible to form a
ring of fire in the sky. This can only happen when the Moon is near to, or at the
point of apogee, the point of the Moon s orbit farthest from Earth, and can only be
seen from the Moon s antumbra. The last type of eclipse, Hybrid Solar Eclipses,
also known as annular Total eclipses, are the rarest type. This only occurs when a
Solar Eclipse changes between a Total Solar Eclipse and an Annular Solar Eclipse
along it s path.
According to the article What Are Solar Eclipses? on the website timeanddate.com
/eclipse/solar eclipse.html For a solar eclipse to take place, the Sun, the Moon, and
Earth must be aligned in a perfect or near perfect straight line an alignment
astronomers call syzygy. This happens around New Moon every lunar month. There

Compare and Contrast Pope Francis vs. Pope Benedict XVI
Essay
I would like to compare/contrast Pope Francis vs. Pope Benedict XVI. During his
first year in office, Pope Francis has become one of the world s greatest social
innovators. Many have celebrated Pope Francis as a spiritual leader, diplomat, and a
politician. Pope Francis is a leader to start something new by launching a global
campaign against hunger. Using social media, such as YouTube, Pope
Francis sent his
message out to elect a day, December 10th, for a world wide rally. Additionally,
Pope Francis is known for sending out tweets @Pontifex. By the use of social media,
the Pope has captured attention all across the globe. Take for instance the time Pope
Francis washed the feet of Muslim women in prison. Bloggers went wild with photos

Sometimes the things that have been forgotten can be viewed as new by reminding
us of what is important (Watson, 2013). Pope Francis actions reflect a social
innovator and some may call intrapreneur (Dearing, 2014). The definition of
intrapreneur is a person within a large corporation who takes direct responsibility for
turning an idea into a profitable finished product through assertive risk taking and
innovation (Pinchot, 2010).
Pope Benedict business goals
As of January 20, 2013 Pope Benedict has 12,739 followers on Twitter.
In his 2009 encyclical, Pope Benedict XVI conveys issue about the international
economic system and its overemphasis on benefit at the price of individual and group
needs. Without question, one of the biggest threats for companies is that they are
almost specifically responsible to their traders, thereby restricting their public value.
The pope s solution to this situation is not only government control of companies, but
the development of new business designs where human and group results are
regarded an integral aspect of the main point here. In many ways, he explains
substitute companies that are aspect of the quickly growing solidarity economic
system.
Brand Effectiveness
Pope Francis was encountered with a church experiencing loss of client involvement,
reduction in attendance, and in some marketplaces adverse business development.

Nikola Tesla s Influence On Religion
Nikola Tesla, a Persian American physicist, revolutionized the world of science
and created a new way of transporting electricity. He was born in 1856 in Smiljan,
Croatia during a fierce lightning storm (Jacobson). His father worked as a priest in
the Serbian Orthodox church and provided Tesla with a vast library he immersed
himself in. His mother managed their farm and the home while creating appliances
to help make the work easier. Tesla credited his inventive instincts to his mother (
Tesla Life and Legacy ). In 1863, Tesla received trauma from the death of his
brother because of a riding accident. It is said that Tesla saw visions after the loss,
which was one of the first signs of his mental illness. Later, he went on to study math

His father pushed him to join priesthood, but Tesla s interests lied purely in science (
Nikola Tesla Biography ). Not much is said about Tesla s religion, but it is known
he did not consider himself to be a believer in the orthodox sense but wrote the
article The Problem of Increasing Human Energy. In this article, he expressed his
respect for both Buddhism and Christianity, but it is unclear which his religious
views fell under. He was sometimes orientated towards unity and oneness, which
would categorize him a Buddhist because he said things like, Can anyone doubt to
day that all the millions of individuals and all the innumerable types and characters
constitute an entity, a unit? Though free to think and act, we are held together, like
the stars in the firmament, with ties inseparable. On the other hand, he said things
that made him sound skeptical of religion like an atheist like, It might as well be
said that God has properties. He has not, but only attributes and these are of our
own making. It is widely accepted that Tesla is an atheist because of the things he
said. However, there is still the possibility that he kept to his Christian roots
because he said, The gift of mental power comes from God, Divine Being, and if
we concentrate our minds on that truth, we became in tune with this great power.
My mother had taught me to seek all truth in the Bible; therefore I devoted the next
few months to the study of this work. Because of the power of God s word and the
fact that his parents were strong in their faith, Tesla must have accepted Jesus Christ
as his savior at some point in his life and, therefore, must have been Christian.
However, it is possible he strayed from his faith, but that cannot change his salvation
in Jesus Christ if he was saved ( Tesla Life and
Basic Law in the Chinese Government
Introduction One country, two systems is an important formula that symbolized the
stage of socialist modernization of Chinese Government. The Basic Law is one of
the products produced under such kind of ideology. According Article 11 in the
Law; the systems and policies practiced in the Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region including the social and economic systems, the system for safe guarding the
fundamental rights and freedoms of its residents, the executive, legislative and
judicial systems and relevant policies, shall be based on the provisions of the law.
No law enacted by the legislature of Hong KongSpecial Administrative Region shall
contravene this law. In other words, the Basic law is more superior in comparison
with other laws in Hong Kong.
In the essay, the arrangement of the law and the rationale behind will be focused.

The Principles of the Judicial System
Judicial System Qs 1) Six principles of most judiciary systems, as defined or
implied in a resolution adopted by the Seventh United Nations Congress on the
Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, are: independence (i.e.
freedom from other branches of government r other constraints), impartiality, sole
rights of jurisdiction and jurisdictional purview (the courts decide what cases they
will here, and what falls under their discretion), fair and equal access, confidential
in its deliberations, and with direct authority and jurisdiction over accusations of
judicial misconduct (i.e. self policing) (UN, 1985). From these principles, it is
easy to determine what two primary objectives of a judiciary might exist from a
socio legal perspective. Judiciaries serve to make sure laws created are fair to
society, and that these laws are fairly, equally, and impartially applied to all within the
laws jurisdiction. 2) In a unified court system, all judicial entities are part of the same
network, which has a centralized authority and typically a hierarchy, such that
administration of judicial decisions is made more efficient and more consistent (CL,
2012). A partially unified court system consist of a similar network, but some courts
in the network might also have specialized jurisdictions and duties that are not subject
to the centralized authority of the system; specialized courts are wholly removed
from such systems and operate independently, usually with very limited

Some people may believe that a person that defeats monsters and heads out on
brave quests to save princesses are heroes. But, that is not the only way someone
can be classified as a hero. There are heroes in comic books, in movies, but also in
life. There are heroes all throughout time that show their heroism. Warriors of the past
were seen as heroes because they saved the civilians from danger. In the worldtoday,
people see heroes as the people who inspire and pave the way for the next generation.
In 2016 this type of herois Michelle Obama. Both Beowulf and The First Lady are

Adam Savage was a regular geek growing up. Adam did not have many friends and
had an obsession with movies involving fantasy and science fiction. After receiving
an ice cream bucket from Baskin Robbins and a refrigerator box from a random
house in his neighborhood, he made himself a space helmet and ship. He claims that
was how he became the geekthat he is today. Later on in his life him and his father
went to go see the movie Excalibur, and after seeing that he made knight armor just
from materials that he had in his home. He then asked his father if he could help him

his father were able to make the armor of his dreams. He never was able to get a

invited to Comic Con was because of his show Myth Busters. Since he recreates
many famous scenes from popular movies, the show is something that many
geeky people enjoy watching. I watched the Star Wars special where they tested if
things that happened in the movie would actually work in reality. There is a scene

Reflection Paper In Pharmacy
Throughout the course of my first semester in the pre pharmacy program, I
participated in a class called Introduction to the Pharmacy Profession. The purpose of
the class was to establish general knowledge about the job of pharmacists and to
assist the students with their future plans. The class introduced many guest speakers
who have jobs in all different areas of pharmacy. Before listening to each speaker in
class, the students were asked to write three questions about each specific job based
on the required reading from the APhA Career Pathways Program. The students also
participated in Common Read Events to broaden their knowledge about diversity.
After completing the APhA Career Pathway exercises, I received a total of ten careers
that matched my responses. Five of the pharmacy careers were based off my answers
to the forty five questions in the program exercises. These careers include outpatient
health system pharmacy, ambulatory care, mail service pharmacy, home health care
pharmacy, and community health center. The other five pharmacy careers were
based off the factors that I marked as the most important critical factors to my life.
These careers included clinical specialist, ambulatory care, community health center,
office based medication management, and outpatient health system pharmacy.

Transportation is one of the most essential spheres of human s life in such aspects as
economic growth, communication, tourism, and utilization of space. Thence, it is
very important for it to have minimal effect on the environment, be safe, cheap,
comfortable, and fast in use. Conventional transport, such as trains and airplanes,
causes a number of problems including air pollution, high amounts of energy
consumption, huge need of maintenance, high prices, and risks of safety, thus not
being efficient enough. Therefore, new generation of transport must correspond to
definite requirements: be efficient, reliable, and environmentally sound. The

Moreover, according to Figure 2, the amount of CO2 increases with the rise of
speed. Conventional trains are also not efficient in economic aspect, since there is a
demand for constant maintenance (Figure 1), such as periodic replacement of gear,
wheels, rails, etc., which may lead to huge financial expenses. Figure 1. Comparison

Air transport is constructed to be faster and more convenient than trains, however
there are also several burdens that are associated with airplanes. The most
important aircraft problem is vast fuel utilization European Commission 2009
indicates that airplanes have huge CO2 emission 51.5 gram per passenger
kilometer. In addition, serious risks of safety usually worry people, for instance,
there is a recent loss of Boeing 777 airplane with all the passengers, which is
usually considered to be very safe, and still cannot be found (Ranter 2014).
Airplanes are also very dependent on weather conditions, as can be seen on Figure

Essay On Student Loan Crisis
The student loan crisis is worse than ever and more people are leaving college
thousands of dollars in debt before they even have a job or any type of income.
With the rising cost of college and living expenses, people are taking out more
student loans for higher amounts, leaving more people in an undesirable amount of
debtand essentially trapping them. There s currently no way to get rid of federal
student debt other than paying off the loans. (Quinton, Sophie, why you might be
paying student loans till you retire). Because student loans are not like other loans
they will not disappear if you declare bankruptcy, so the borrower is forced to pay
them back even if it means you cannot afford to do so. There is not just one thing that
is causing the student loancrisis this is a combination of many things that are being
overlooked or ignored. We need to look into the reasoning to determine why this is
happening, what problems it is causing and then come up with a solution that can
stop the problem. Student loans are a great tool to use if you need financial help
for college, but one must be careful and consider the consequences and understand
what a student loan is and how to deal with them to make a responsible decision
about their financial future. Before we can go any further, we need to first define
what exactly a student loan is, and what student loans can entail. A student loan is
defined as A type of loan designed to help students pay for post secondary
education and the associated fees . Student loans are marvelous and a supportive
tool for college students, but people don t realize that everything they borrow
needs to be paid back with interest. Five years ago in 2012 71% of students
graduating four year colleges had student loans and the average indebtedness of a
college graduate was $29,400 . If you compare that to 1993 the average
indebtedness of a college graduate was $9,450 (Average Student Loan Debt, 1993
2012). In only 19 years there was a $19,950 dollar difference in the averages. Those
numbers do not include the interest that the student will have to pay back over time.
All of those factors are just a small part of what makes up student debt but it is good

Persuasive Essay About A Dog
Have you had a dog before? This passion to care for a dog came about when I was
younger and my older siblings would always have a new pet and I never did. Then
when I finally became older enough I had my first pet. Since that day my heart
reaches out to all the dogs out there in the world. This passion, however may seem
easy to people, but it takes time before someone can become dedicated to any
animal. Many steps need to be made before bringing home a dogstarting off with
research, materials, communication, welcoming, and from there on steps can last till
the end of life.
Starting, with owner to look up breeds for dog and understand their needs. Finding
a trustworthy website or vet school/office is an excellent way to learn about
breeds. Even within breeds there s enormous variety in the way a dog acts and
reacts to the world around him (Dog Time). A website that can give you advice
from; adopts, breeds, puppies, names, health, references, how to do, and lifestyles,
and much more information you ll need to know. Other ways can be asking around
to people you know or are recommended to contact. Besides research about the
breeds or which way to go about getting a dog either adopting or purchasing a

His art represented the reaction against previous conceptions of art and the desire
for a new form of expression. In order to understand the scope of Goya s art, and to
appreciate the principles which governed his development and tremendous
versatility, it is essential to realize that his work extended over a period of more than
60 years.
The importance of this factor is evident between his attitude towards life in his
youth, when he accepted the world as it was quite happily, in his manhood when he
began to criticize it, and in his old age when he became embittered and
disillusioned with people and society. The world changed completely during his
lifetime and the society, in which he had achieved a great success, disappeared
during the Napoleonic war. Long before the end of the 18th century Goya had
already turned towards his new ideals and expressed them in his graphic art and in
his paintings.
Daumier s made paintings and drawings of morals and manners that are highly

subjects. He also continued to attack the government regime and any form of society
that he found pompous or hypocritical. Daumier is among the outstanding
draughtsman of the past two centuries. His skill in drawing links him to the Old

called as Strategic dashboard which will typically provide the KPI s (Key
Performance Indicators) that a company s executive team track on a periodically. A
strategic dashboard should provide the executive team with a high level overview of
the state of the business together with the opportunities the business faces.
Benefits of Executive Dashboard:
пѓјIt provides total visibility into your business and promotes a greater business
insight.
пѓјThe dashboard will effectively identify the key metrics initially and so initially we
can start to improve the results.
пѓјDashboards are developed with the ability to get as deeper in information as
required by simply selecting the desired variable or object.
пѓјEffective Dashboard allows measuring the performance in a periodic way so that

In the decade mobile devices such as cell phones and tablets have risen in usage
for visiting websites. Since 2010 there as been a 400% growth in mobile web
searches. (ETC, 2013) Unfortunately websites are very hard for the user to view
and navigate through websites not designed for a small screen used on cell
phones. This was the new challenge for web designers to solve and with the
growth of popularity of mobile usage the web designers needed to make websites
for both personal computers and mobile devices. Now often if the user visit a
website using a mobile device they will be asked if they want to go to the mobile
site which are specifically designed for a better user interface and design for the
mobile device. With the smaller screens of mobile devices the we designers needed
to layout the website completely differently so the user does not get overwhelmed or
confused. The new trend for 2013 is called Responsive Web Designalso known as
RWD which allows users have a better experience on both P.C. s and mobile devices.
The RWD templates are designed to work and have a good visual feel on a variety of
different screens, so a user on any device accessing a website will have a good
experience on what ever device. (Taheri, 2013) Scrolling and navigation panels on
websites have also begun to change, now certain apps have been integrated into

Orsted was dumbfounded about his discovery, but had no way of explaining how it
was possible that the electrical current had an effect on the magnetic needle of the
compass. After reading about Orsted s results, a man by the name of AndrГ© Marie
AmpГЁre sought to find the reason for this occurrence and what he discovered
changed the field of electrical engineering forever. He demonstrated that when two
wires were placed parallel to one another, both carrying an electric current, they d
either be attracted to or repulsed by each other depending on which directions the
currents were traveling. [4]. Ampere later created what is known as Ampere s Law
which relates electricity and magnetism.
So why was this relationship between electricity and magnetism so important to the
field of electrical information transmission? This question began to be answered by a
man named Joseph Henry in 1830. Intrigued by the recent innovation of
electromagnetism, Henry decided to test its effectiveness in the field of electrical
transmission. Henry decided that if he passed current through one end of a
transmission wire he could use the current to activate an electromagnet at its opposite
end. Henry attached a bell to the electromagnet a mile from his current emission point
and was able to ring the bell by sending current through the line. [2] This telegraph
system was brilliant, but Samuel Morse saw even more potential in the model.
The Plains Indian
The term Plains Indian refers to a group of indigenous people who lived on the
interior plains of both Midwest America and the southern Canada. Their culture was
traditionally nomadic as they survived by hunting and gathering, and often followed
the migration of the American Bison. The Bison provided them with their main
resource as they used its hide, bones, fat, and fur to make clothing, housing, and
tools. Teepees were their traditional form of housing because they were easily
constructed and then dismantled to fit the Plains Indian s transient lifestyle (Roth,
1923). Several other unique aspects of their lifestyle have become a part of the
stereotypical American Indian depicted in film and literature such as their reliance on

hopes of prolonging its use (Kaye, 1987). Most women wore dresses made out of
lighter weight deerskin, sometimes with thin pants made out of deerskin or buffalo
hide. Women spun and wove fibers made from flax and other wheat to make the
inside of theses hides softer (Carlson, 1998). The act of adorning personal items with
dyed porcupine quills is an ancient Native American art form predominantly used by
the Plains Indian tribes before the introduction of glass beads. This method of
decoration has long been a part of Plains Indian culture as archaeologists have
discovered quill working tools dating back to the 6th century (Neuman, 1960). Quill
work is entirely unique to the Subarctic, Plains, and Northeastern Woodlands of North
America (Roth, 1923).These areas encapsulate the porcupine s natural habitat which
reveals the ability of Plains Indians to utilize the resources around them for means of
production beyond survival. This adaptation is
Gifted Students and Social Stigma Essay
Gifted Students and Social Stigma
Philosopher Benedict Spinoza said, Man is a social animal (Kaplan 278). The desire
for social acceptance, whether recognized or denied, is part of human culture. People
yearn for it, obsess over it, and alter themselves to obtain it. Humans can spend their
entire lives unsuccessfully attempting to achieve a level of social status they believe
will validate them. Acceptance is denied for superficial reasons varying from
clothing to cliques. However, it is also denied due to innate elements of personality.
Stigmatizing others for a natural characteristic not only seems unwarranted but also
unfair. Yet, a stigma is imposed daily on gifted adolescents who neither deserve, nor
know how to deal with, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They want to know what something is but also why it is that way. Teachers can take
this curiosity to be offensive and oftentimes the student is viewed negatively by their
peers due to an adoption of the teacher s negative attitude, thus beginning the social
stigma (Johnson 27).
Another standard, educational treatment of gifted students is to separate them from
the class. Because the gifted student has surpassed the majority the teacher isolates
the child with a separate advanced activity and returns to the majority. In these
situations the gifted student and his/her peers become accustomed to this different
status. The gifted student becomes an outsider in relation to the group by default, due
to his/her above average abilities. Educational treatment of the gift denies the student
the opportunity to learn to socially interact at a young age. Gifted students never
become accustomed to peer interaction because this system is perpetuated upward
throughout the grade levels. And unfortunately, in an educational atmosphere where
grades are a primary focus, poor interpersonal skills are more likely to be tolerated
than poor work related skills (Wolfle 3). It becomes a norm for the student to work
alone and his/her social and psychological needs are ignored.
The students themselves report that one prevailing stigmatism of being gifted is
being neglected, not
Prussian Absolutism Essay
Absolutism; having absolute power over itself and others around. The country that
showed a great example of this is Prussia. Even though they went through hard times
such as the Thirty Years War, which severely decreased the population, Prussians
persisted to achieve absolutism. Prussia was superior to England in achieving
absolutism because military, government, and its religion were major factors for
absolutism in Prussia. England was one of the most anti absolute countered because
all that it tried gathered ruler was demoted of power, killed, or banished. It was
difficult to do anything for England because when taxes were raised, the Parliament
took over their power to do that along with imprisonment without trials. Military

This lead to absolutism because the Hohenzollern were vicious people that wanted
their religion to spread. This motivated and pushed Prussia to fight for land and
spread Protestantism. In acquiring absolutism, Prussia s spread of religion and
claiming of land would not only get rid of their rival, but also improve the chances
at attaining absolutism. Because the Reformation of Protestant religion, the
Hohenzollerns were all for the spreading of land and religion. The spreading of
religion would drastically make a big change in absolutism because the population
and supporters of the country would significantly go up. This would come with
perks such as many more military soldiers which would form a stronger, better
army. This army would be unstoppable as it was a strong during Frederick I was in
charge, it got stronger when Frederick II took power, and now it would top the
amount of power and strength it already had over the other countries. The motivation,
strength, and confidence that Protestantism gave the Hohenzollerns and its followers
was enough to give Prussia that edge and power which led to the successful absolute
How To Dissected Frogs
I ve been tasked to write about a enjoyable educational activity I did at school. So
today I ve chosen to tell you guys about the time we dissected frogs in 7th grade. It
was the funniest and the most smelliest activity I have ever done and I ll tell you
why. There are a lot of reasons it was the funniest and the most smelliest activity.
The first and obvious reason to why it smelled so bad was because of the frogs.
The frogs had been in a bucket that was filed with a stinky preservation liquid all
school year so when they opened the buckets it reeked. The smell of the open
buckets quickly spread in the air and made everybody cover their noses with their
shirts. It was so bad that the smell even began to spread through are clothes. The

How Did Bernini Influence Michelangelo
In the fourteenth to fifteenth centuries many influential artists created multiple pieces
of art that were very significant for their period. Michelangelo, Donatello, and Bernini
all were key contributors to this influential movement sweeping through the land at
the time. Michelangelo played a major role in sculptureand architecture in Italy as
well as creating many unapparelled affects in the development of art in the west.
Donatello, on the other hand, was a master sculpture who played influential roles in
the Renaissanceera. Finally, Bernini was probably the best architect and sculptor of
his time. Each of these major architects created their own version of a sculpture,
David, that had wide effects throughout their home countries. Donatello... Show more

Unlike the previous two pieces, Bernini could capture his form in a pose that is
supposed to be happening during the fight. The grotesque way Bernini makes his
body twist and bends creates an illusion in our mind that he is about to send the
stone flying to deliver the killing blow to Goliath s forehead. This form of Baroque
art creates images in the mind to help us understand what the piece has or will be
doing. Bernini creates a sense of action and drama with this piece with diagonal lines
created throughout the sculpture. Also, unlike the pieces created by Michelangelo
and Donatello, Bernini created his version of David without sculpting him in the
nude. This was more of a widespread form for the time that Bernini created the
Diagnostic Personal Statement
My ambition is to follow a course which combines my two favorite subjects
Biology and Physics. I have always been attracted to the medical field because it
combines human compassion with knowledge and technology. I am interested in
sonography because it allows me to have a direct involvement with patients and it is
an ever evolving field that promises to continue to grow and expand. This allows me
to achieve my career goal in Diagnostic Ultrasound.
Throughout my life, I have been a keen researcher. My passion in speaking began
at high school, where I took part in many inter state debate competitions. I was
introduced to the field of diagnostic, as coming from the hypertensive history
family, I always try to get some knowledge out of the reports and images; which
sparked my interest in echocardiography. The idea of diagnostic imaging is amazing
because it gives a physician a different perspective on the human body. I am
fascinated by the technologies used to produce these images, but I must integrate my
broad clinical knowledge to transform images into a diagnose. ... Show more content

Becoming a phlebotomist after completing my high school was the first step I took to
jump in the healthcare field. Although, I practiced phlebotomy for a very short period
of time as I moved to the United States with my family after two months of
completion of my phlebotomy certification. During my work experience as a
Phlebotomist, I learned how to communicate with patients showing them empathy
and generosity. During this time, I felt I improved my team working and
communication skills. Furthermore, I grew in confidence and self belief as I found
that I had good positive communication skills that helped patients in drawing out

Mountain Between Us
Charles Martin s novel The Mountain Between Us is about an unexpected love
story during a time of great peril. Characters Ben Payne and Ashley Knox are
stranded deep in the frigid wilderness where they find teamwork and love is the
only option besides death. Martin s novel is relatable to that of Thomas C. Foster s
How To Read Literature Like a Professor s chapter fourteen, where Foster explains
how the figure of Christ is often replicated and echoed in many characters throughout
many works of literature. Of the two main characters in Martin s novel, The Mountain
Between Us, Ben directly resembles a Christ figure, for he contains many of the
Christ features as listed by Thomas C. Foster in his book.

Effectiveness Of Redefining Failure By Julia Baird
The Effectiveness of Redefining Failure
The article, Redefining Failure by Julia Baird focuses on the development of failure
throughout time. Her argument addresses that the definition of failure has evolved
over the years because with time and events the word becomes classified
differently. In her article, she offers examples of different circumstances to
effectively portray her stance on the topic. In Julia Baird s standpoint, a person s
economic standing is not the most effective way of measuring one s success or
failure. Redefining Failure is a persuasive and effective article because of the way it
is organized, constructed, and the numerous examples that it provides.
When evaluating the article Redefining Failure, it is important to ... Show more

Initially, Baird introduces the idea that America s beliefs about failure were formed
in the 1800 s and progressed further into the 19th century. She brings up her opinion
on how the 19th century was different from today because of the way that their
society believed failure to be such a devastating occurrence. Additionally, the article
explains how the people in these times believed that failure was a cause of a lack of
ambition. She presents this idea by quoting another author, Scott Sandage, who wrote
the novel, Born Losers: A History of Failure in America. She quotes Sandage by
saying, By the end of the 19th century, says Sandage, failure had gone from being a
professional mishap to a name for a deficient self, an identity in the red. (Baird,
Redefining Failure). By quoting from another source who has a similar opinion,
Baird is giving the reader multiple references that represent her goal. This shows a
competent understanding of the argument that she is providing. Additionally, at this
point in Baird s article, she reinstates why Willy from the Death of a Salesman is
related to the changing definition of failure. She does this by quoting yet another
source, saying, By the middle of the last century, at the time Willy Loman was
hawking his wares, Americans could not face the possibility of defeat in one s
personal life or one s work without being morally destroyed, according to sociologist
David Riesman. (Baird, Redefining Failure). Baird uses this
A Career As A Spanish Language Teacher
When I was younger I observed and experienced the Spanish culture and found such
interest in expanding my education to later on pursue the career of a Spanish
Language Teacher. After researching the responsibilities, the work conditions, salary,
the outlook, and future; a career as a spanish language teacher would be interesting,
and the perfect training would be at St. Mary s University at San Antonio. Tasks and
responsibilities for this career are all very different and must be done on a daily basis
when getting the students to comprehend and understand the new teachings. Foreign
Language Teachers must make sure to interpret the terminology and translate it into
the student s natural language to help them understand better in their learning. They
must also provide instruction in the literature and also in the history of the culture so
that the students will be learning correctly. Professors should also tests students
frequently to see their progress so that they know exactly where they re at. These tests
and other activities will show the teacher if the students understand to read, write, and
most importantly the overall understanding in the dialect. If the instructor sees that
the students may need a bit more of help with understanding, it is recommended that
the students work in small groups so that other learners that have a better
understanding of the language can help the ones that don t really understand.
Professors should also ensure students that they are in a
Who Is Michael Phelps A Hero
Michael Phelps is one of the most decorated Olympic athletes in the world. Many
people look at him as a hero, but he did not have an easy life. Early on, his parents
divorce had a profound impact on him, giving him nightmares that were very
upsetting. After winning eight gold medals at the Athens Olympic Gamesin 2004, at
the height of popularity, he struggled with alcohol and drugs. However, with the
help of his swim coach Bob Bowman, and the support of his mother, two sisters, and
his father, he was able to overcome the personal struggles and return to the sport in
which he excelled. His ability to admit he had problems and making himself
vulnerable enabled him to overcome his weaknesses and return to sports.
He started swimming when he was young, and his wish to become a great swimmer
made him dedicated to the sport, giving up other sports to train constantly. Phelps
began swimming at age 7 when his sisters joined ... Show more content on

When his parents divorced, he spent more time training. (Crouse) When he was upset
about his parents splitting up, he used the pool to get out his frustrations. He used a
negative experience and turned it into a positive impact.
Phelps ran into trouble with alcohol and drugs after the Beijing Olympics, but he
admitted his problem and went into rehab. He had spent so much time training as
a boy, that he didn t know what to do with his life after his success and it led him
down a bad path of drugs and alcohol. (Crouse`0) He had spent so much time with
swimming, that he didn t have any skills to live a normal life. By admitting his
problems, he made himself vulnerable so he could face his problems and get back on
the right track.
In spite of his problems, Michael Phelps was able to face them with the courage
and determination that made him a world class swimmer. He knew he had a
problem and went to get help. It enabled him to return to the sport he loved and

The Current State Of Our Post Secondary Education System
The current state of our post secondary education system should not be judged simply
by the growing debt
accumulated by students and parents. Many of us are aware that the current
outstanding debt of college loans is
roughly a trillion dollars with growing delinquency rates. The issues with the post
secondary education system are often
limited to single item discussions such as textbook prices or rising tuition costs. These
issues when looked at unilaterally
do not give insight into the entire picture and often cause topical tunnel vision. The
problems of higher education are
multifaceted and born from the linkage between accreditation boards, educational
institutions, textbook publishers, and
federal aid. When focusing on these connections we find not only parasitic
relationships and borderline abuse but also a
fundamentally flawed, antiquated approach to educating our future generations.
The United States faces an educational epidemic. Our country has seen a massive
decrease in reliance on manufacturing
in the last three decades replaced by an ever increasing reliance on knowledge based
services. Gone are the days when
a high school diploma and a family member in a union meant stable incomes and
traceable futures. Over the coming
years a high school diploma will open only one third of the job market doors as
advanced education becomes more
desirable and in many cases required. According to the American Community Survey
in 2008, a high school degree
Autobiographical Essay Entry Slip
Autobiographical Essay Entry Slip Writing the autobiographical essay can be
compared to a Monday. This was the first essay I wrote in composition, and I knew if
I was going to pass this class with the grade that I would be happy with, it would
take hard work and a great deal of motivation. Cross country is a strenuous sport. If
I wanted times I could be happy with, I needed to work hard to earn them. Monday
is the first day of the week, which means there are five days standing in the way of
the weekend and myself. As I wrote the autobiographical paper, I realized this was
only the first paper out of five. If i was going to reach the finish line, I would have to
run the race. When Mr.s Gelwicks first assigned this essay, I was clueless as

Gene Reproductive Research Advantages And Disadvantages Ningkang Zhang LS 201 05 In this paper, I will discuss the earthshaking but controversial technology, gene editing of human reproductive cells. Gene editing of human reproductive cell is using special technology like clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (shorten by CRISPER) to edit the gene manually before the reproductive transplanted to mother s womb. In 2014, Chinese scientist Huang, J published his paper about the gene editing of human zygote of triprokaryote which is a cell like embryo but cannot grow up to a normal fetus. His research led to heated discussion on whether this technology should be studied. This research could bring epic medical and scientific value, it could put an end to several tough hereditary diseases including thalassemia and sickle cell disease, which are hard to cured with traditional medical technology. Conversely, it still has several disadvantages, the research will lead to several ethic controversies and the application could result in dangerous social issue. Currently, in science community, the feasibility and the potential risks of this technology are under heated discussion, and it is hard to come into a common agreement. Based on current science condition and common perceive, nowadays, I don t think the research and application should be supported because in my view, some of the disadvantages are not acceptable and some potential risks are unaffordable. In my view, scientists shouldn t go on with the further research
  • 7. Loss of Innocence in Truman Capote s In Cold Blood Essay All things truly wicked start from an innocence, states Ernest Hemingway on his view of innocence. Innocence, what every youth possesses, is more accurately described as a state of unknowing but not ignorance which connotation suggests a blissfully positive view of the world. Most youth are protected from the harsh realities of the adult world. Therefore they are able to maintain their state of innocence. While innocence normally wanes over time, sometimes innocence can be abruptly taken away. Some of the characters in Truman Capotes In Cold Bloodlost their innocence due to the traumatic events they experienced in childhood and adulthood while some had none to begin with. Parents are supposed to shelter their children from the fraudulent outside world and keep their purity intact. Perry Smith, murderer of the Clutter family, had an upbringing that was marked by brutality and lack of concern on the part of both parents. Due to his childhood he seems to have grown up without direction, and without ever having absorbed any fixed sense of moral values. He felt no regret for murdering the family, only that he felt sorry that they were the ones that ... had to pay for it. While Dick considered Perry as innocent, he had never been with a woman , he believed Perry was a natural born killer who attaches little real value to human life . Perry s tragic upbringing had turned him into a cold blooded killer unaware of the beauty of innocence, which he so easily stole from the Clutter family the moment he killed them. Innocent people cannot be protected from the individual whose innocence is not present. If innocence is not present in an individual it cannot be protected. An individual of this kind makes choices that effect how corrupt they can become. Dick Hickock had a loving family, who supported and loved him as he grew up. Even though he was in a nurturing environment that protected him from the corrupt society around him, he still became a criminal. This shows that innocence, if not present in the first place, cannot be salvaged. After passing hot checks he was put in jail where his jealousy of
  • 8. Rome And Carthage In The Second Punic War Introduction The first things we can look at about Rome and Carthage is Rome s citizens and Carthage s wealth. We can draw conclusions from these and begin to compare both. One of the prominent things about Rome was its hand to hand combat skills of its soldiers. Rome was not originally a navy, but had to become a naval power to take on Carthage. Before Rome ever faced Hannibal in the second Punic war (B.C.218 201) it faced Carthage in the first Punic war (B.C. 264 241) and had fewer losses than it did in the Second Punic war. We can examine what Carthage s advantages were, and what Rome s disadvantages were (Morey, 1901). I Rome had to build a navy to be equal to Carthage in the First Punic war (B.C. 264 241). There was an event that Carthage was using the sea to make its business with other cities. Rome was not a naval power like Carthage. Rome did not have that access to the sea that would guarantee supremacy. That s why the Romans decided not to surrender to the circumstances so they could pursue Carthage and make an impact on its sea business ventures. Why would they not want to face off as they were threatening to one another? I believe it was Rome who was threatened by Carthage especially. (Morey,1901) Declares that Rome was alarmed as she saw Carthage s territory extending north, Rome s rival . Most importantly, it was the conquests of the Carthaginians that made Rome stay on track and keep pace with them. They wanted what Carthage was doing. Carthage was conquering. Carthage was becoming greater. Rome decided to pursue their victories over Carthage the only way it could in the First Punic wars (B.C.
  • 9. The Causes And Consequences Of The Rwandan Genocide The Rwandan Genocide, in which nearly one million individuals are estimated to have been murdered, took place over the course of one hundred days, from April 1994 to July 1994 (United Nations, n.d.). After Rwanda obtained independence from Belguim in 1961, a Hutu dominated government was formed in which Tutsis (the minority ethnic group) were viewed as lesser than Hutus (Walker, 2017). Years of systematic ethnic discrimination against Tutsis allowed for the notion that Tutsis are inherently lesser than Hutus to be ingrained in Rwandan society. The genocide was further sparked by the death of Rwandan president Juvenal Habyarimana, as Hutu extremists called for the mass killing of Tutsis and individuals with Tutsiconnections (British Broadcasting... The Rwandan civilians came to believe that the right course of action to take was to participate in the systematic murder of Tutsis. The radio broadcasters, besides providing justifications for the killing of Tutsis by Hutus, congratulated the civilians who had participated in the murders of Tutsis ( Rwanda radio transcripts, n.d.). Furthermore, the radio broadcasters labeled Tutsis as cockroaches , which dehumanized Tutsis and thus made the rape and murder of Tutsis appear to be less inhumane (End Genocide, n.d.). Dehumanizing Tutsis played a role in Hutu civilians obeying orders from government supported radio stations to kill Tutsis. In addition, as brutality becomes standard procedure within an institution, it takes on an added legitimacy (Sabini Silver, 1982). The systematic murders and rapes appeared as more legitimate because the government backed Hutu extremist groups formulated lists of Tutsis and Tutsi affiliates to be targeted and sought out these individuals for murder (End Genocide, n.d.). The job of the Rwandan militants was to simply murder Tutsis and Tutsi supporters. Within Rwanda, civilians were expected and encouraged by the government to kill any and all Tutsis and
  • 10. Variation and Its Causes Variation The divergence in a set of numbers in a given data range is referred to as variation. It has common measures including variance, standard deviation and inter quartile range that are used in measuring variation among a set of data. Causes of variation In research data analysis, evidence suggests that the main cause of data variation is measurement error, especially f the instruments used are not guaranteed to provide accurate results (Jianqing, 1991). Nonetheless, chances of errors may occur during data interpretation, recording and, or when reporting the results. These are accredited to false assumptions that the measured quantity is stable and that the variation are based on observational errors. Patterns of Variation There are various patterns representative of variation. However, a bell shaped curve is the most widely used variation pattern and is considered the normal curve. In this curve, the highest point is indicative of the most probable occurrence. The other curve pattern is bi modal curve, which is dual peaked. This pattern easily identifies a process with a special cause of variation and, which has undergone some changes. Variation pattern can also take the form of a skewed curve that resembles a normal curve forced to lie on its sides. This is primarily a representation of data that is not identical on both sides. Understanding Variation Variation is all around people. There are variations in the ability to undertake functions; ways of

Anonymous author from Mongolia In spite of its wealth of natural resources of the Mongolia, protection of its environment and resource issue has been considered as serious issue. Even at the time Christopher Columbus first arrived in the New World, it was evident that a short cut through Central America would be extremely beneficial, but there was never an incentive to build one until many years later. The increase in population and trade in California because of the California gold rush demonstrated the need for a faster and less costly trade route from western America to eastern America. The route through Panama was thought to be easier to build, less expensive, and overall more advantageous than the route through Nicaragua. It provided a head start on construction, a shorter route, and included a railroad which allowed for easy transportation of construction equipment for the canal (Pearson). With this information, Cromwell convinced the United States government that the Panama route was the better option, which led congress to enact the Spooner Act. This stated that if the president could obtain the rights from Colombia, who controlled Panama, it would be constructed there. Otherwise, the canal would be built in

  • 22. Significances Of Total Solar Eclipses A Total Solar Eclipse occurs when the visible portion of our Moon covers the visible portion of our sun, causing it to seem like a white ring with a black center, causing an extremely unique view of our sun and Moon. The Total Solar Eclipse can only be seen from a few points in the world, in the umbral shadow. Most people in the world will only see a partial Solar Eclipse, where the Moonwill only cover a portion of the sun, due to the fact that they re in the penumbral. While not as unique, it s still a rare sight to behold. The reason Solar Eclipses are so rare to begin with is due to the special coincidence of the Moon and sun being the same size to our eyes. While our sun is 400 times the size of our Moon, our sun is also 400 times farther away, causing them to appear the same size in our sky. As previously stated, you can only see a Total Solar Eclipse from an umbral shadow, which is the darkest part of the shadow cast on the Earth. This only happens when the Moon Totally covers the sun, but this is not the only factor. The Moon also has to be close to, or at the point of perigee, the point of the Moon s orbit closest to Earth. The penumbral shadow is only visible when the Moon only partly obscures the Sun s disk, causing a partial Solar Eclipse, but there are still more. There s the Annular Solar Eclipse, which is similar to a Total Solar Eclipse, but the Moon is too small to completely cover the sun, and the Sun s outer edges remain visible to form a ring of fire in the sky. This can only happen when the Moon is near to, or at the point of apogee, the point of the Moon s orbit farthest from Earth, and can only be seen from the Moon s antumbra. The last type of eclipse, Hybrid Solar Eclipses, also known as annular Total eclipses, are the rarest type. This only occurs when a Solar Eclipse changes between a Total Solar Eclipse and an Annular Solar Eclipse along it s path. According to the article What Are Solar Eclipses? on the website timeanddate.com /eclipse/solar eclipse.html For a solar eclipse to take place, the Sun, the Moon, and Earth must be aligned in a perfect or near perfect straight line an alignment astronomers call syzygy. This happens around New Moon every lunar month. There are 2

In this article, he expressed his respect for both Buddhism and Christianity, but it is unclear which his religious views fell under. He was sometimes orientated towards unity and oneness, which would categorize him a Buddhist because he said things like, Can anyone doubt to day that all the millions of individuals and all the innumerable types and characters constitute an entity, a unit? Though free to think and act, we are held together, like the stars in the firmament, with ties inseparable. On the other hand, he said things that made him sound skeptical of religion like an atheist like, It might as well be said that God has properties. However, there is still the possibility that he kept to his Christian roots because he said, The gift of mental power comes from God, Divine Being, and if we concentrate our minds on that truth, we became in tune with this great power. My mother had taught me to seek all truth in the Bible; therefore I devoted the next few months to the study of this work. Because of the power of God s word and the fact that his parents were strong in their faith, Tesla must have accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at some point in his life and, therefore, must have been Christian. However, it is possible he strayed from his faith, but that cannot change his salvation in Jesus Christ if he was saved ( Tesla Life and

  • 26. The Principles of the Judicial System Judicial System Qs 1) Six principles of most judiciary systems, as defined or implied in a resolution adopted by the Seventh United Nations Congress on the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, are: independence (i.e. freedom from other branches of government r other constraints), impartiality, sole rights of jurisdiction and jurisdictional purview (the courts decide what cases they will here, and what falls under their discretion), fair and equal access, confidential in its deliberations, and with direct authority and jurisdiction over accusations of judicial misconduct (i.e. self policing) (UN, 1985). From these principles, it is easy to determine what two primary objectives of a judiciary might exist from a socio legal perspective. Judiciaries serve to make sure laws created are fair to society, and that these laws are fairly, equally, and impartially applied to all within the laws jurisdiction. 2) In a unified court system, all judicial entities are part of the same network, which has a centralized authority and typically a hierarchy, such that administration of judicial decisions is made more efficient and more consistent (CL, 2012). A partially unified court system consist of a similar network, but some courts in the network might also have specialized jurisdictions and duties that are not subject to the centralized authority of the system; specialized courts are wholly removed from such systems and operate independently, usually with very limited

  • 31. Essay On Student Loan Crisis The student loan crisis is worse than ever and more people are leaving college thousands of dollars in debt before they even have a job or any type of income. With the rising cost of college and living expenses, people are taking out more student loans for higher amounts, leaving more people in an undesirable amount of debtand essentially trapping them. There s currently no way to get rid of federal student debt other than paying off the loans. (Quinton, Sophie, why you might be paying student loans till you retire). Because student loans are not like other loans they will not disappear if you declare bankruptcy, so the borrower is forced to pay them back even if it means you cannot afford to do so. There is not just one thing that is causing the student loancrisis this is a combination of many things that are being overlooked or ignored. We need to look into the reasoning to determine why this is happening, what problems it is causing and then come up with a solution that can stop the problem. Student loans are a great tool to use if you need financial help for college, but one must be careful and consider the consequences and understand what a student loan is and how to deal with them to make a responsible decision about their financial future. Before we can go any further, we need to first define what exactly a student loan is, and what student loans can entail. A student loan is defined as A type of loan designed to help students pay for post secondary education and the associated fees . Student loans are marvelous and a supportive tool for college students, but people don t realize that everything they borrow needs to be paid back with interest. Five years ago in 2012 71% of students graduating four year colleges had student loans and the average indebtedness of a college graduate was $29,400 . If you compare that to 1993 the average indebtedness of a college graduate was $9,450 (Average Student Loan Debt, 1993 2012). In only 19 years there was a $19,950 dollar difference in the averages. Those numbers do not include the interest that the student will have to pay back over time. All of those factors are just a small part of what makes up student debt but it is good to have a general

After reading about Orsted s results, a man by the name of AndrГ© Marie AmpГЁre sought to find the reason for this occurrence and what he discovered changed the field of electrical engineering forever. He demonstrated that when two wires were placed parallel to one another, both carrying an electric current, they d either be attracted to or repulsed by each other depending on which directions the currents were traveling. [4]. Ampere later created what is known as Ampere s Law which relates electricity and magnetism. So why was this relationship between electricity and magnetism so important to the field of electrical information transmission? This question began to be answered by a man named Joseph Henry in 1830. Intrigued by the recent innovation of electromagnetism, Henry decided to test its effectiveness in the field of electrical transmission. Henry decided that if he passed current through one end of a transmission wire he could use the current to activate an electromagnet at its opposite end. Henry attached a bell to the electromagnet a mile from his current emission point and was able to ring the bell by sending current through the line. [2] This telegraph system was brilliant, but Samuel Morse saw even more potential in the model.

It was difficult to obtain enough hide to clothe an entire village so some members had very little clothing at all and almost no one had more than one set of clothing (Carlson, 1998). This scarcity caused Plains Indians to reduce the use of their clothing by going naked in the warmer seasons in hopes of prolonging its use (Kaye, 1987). Most women wore dresses made out of lighter weight deerskin, sometimes with thin pants made out of deerskin or buffalo hide. Women spun and wove fibers made from flax and other wheat to make the inside of theses hides softer (Carlson, 1998). Acceptance is denied for superficial reasons varying from clothing to cliques. However, it is also denied due to innate elements of personality. Stigmatizing others for a natural characteristic not only seems unwarranted but also unfair. Yet, a stigma is imposed daily on gifted adolescents who neither deserve, nor know how to deal with, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They want to know what something is but also why it is that way. Teachers can take this curiosity to be offensive and oftentimes the student is viewed negatively by their peers due to an adoption of the teacher s negative attitude, thus beginning the social stigma (Johnson 27). Another standard, educational treatment of gifted students is to separate them from the class. Because the gifted student has surpassed the majority the teacher isolates the child with a separate advanced activity and returns to the majority. In these situations the gifted student and his/her peers become accustomed to this different status. The gifted student becomes an outsider in relation to the group by default, due to his/her above average abilities. Educational treatment of the gift denies the student the opportunity to learn to socially interact at a young age. Gifted students never become accustomed to peer interaction because this system is perpetuated upward throughout the grade levels. And unfortunately, in an educational atmosphere where grades are a primary focus, poor interpersonal skills are more likely to be tolerated than poor work related skills (Wolfle 3). It becomes a norm for the student to work alone and his/her social and psychological needs are ignored. The students themselves report that one prevailing stigmatism of being gifted is being neglected, not

Even though they went through hard times such as the Thirty Years War, which severely decreased the population, Prussians persisted to achieve absolutism. • 42. How To Dissected Frogs I ve been tasked to write about a enjoyable educational activity I did at school. So today I ve chosen to tell you guys about the time we dissected frogs in 7th grade. It was the funniest and the most smelliest activity I have ever done and I ll tell you why. There are a lot of reasons it was the funniest and the most smelliest activity. The first and obvious reason to why it smelled so bad was because of the frogs. The frogs had been in a bucket that was filed with a stinky preservation liquid all school year so when they opened the buckets it reeked. The smell of the open buckets quickly spread in the air and made everybody cover their noses with their shirts. It was so bad that the smell even began to spread through are clothes. The second

Michelangelo, Donatello, and Bernini all were key contributors to this influential movement sweeping through the land at the time. Michelangelo played a major role in sculptureand architecture in Italy as well as creating many unapparelled affects in the development of art in the west. Donatello, on the other hand, was a master sculpture who played influential roles in the Renaissanceera. Finally, Bernini was probably the best architect and sculptor of his time. Unlike the previous two pieces, Bernini could capture his form in a pose that is supposed to be happening during the fight. The grotesque way Bernini makes his body twist and bends creates an illusion in our mind that he is about to send the stone flying to deliver the killing blow to Goliath s forehead. This form of Baroque art creates images in the mind to help us understand what the piece has or will be doing. Bernini creates a sense of action and drama with this piece with diagonal lines created throughout the sculpture. Also, unlike the pieces created by Michelangelo and Donatello, Bernini created his version of David without sculpting him in the nude. This was more of a widespread form for the time that Bernini created the

Effectiveness Of Redefining Failure By Julia Baird The Effectiveness of Redefining Failure The article, Redefining Failure by Julia Baird focuses on the development of failure throughout time. Her argument addresses that the definition of failure has evolved over the years because with time and events the word becomes classified differently. In her article, she offers examples of different circumstances to effectively portray her stance on the topic. In Julia Baird s standpoint, a person s economic standing is not the most effective way of measuring one s success or failure. Redefining Failure is a persuasive and effective article because of the way it is organized, constructed, and the numerous examples that it provides. Initially, Baird introduces the idea that America s beliefs about failure were formed in the 1800 s and progressed further into the 19th century. She brings up her opinion on how the 19th century was different from today because of the way that their society believed failure to be such a devastating occurrence. Additionally, the article explains how the people in these times believed that failure was a cause of a lack of ambition. She presents this idea by quoting another author, Scott Sandage, who wrote the novel, Born Losers: A History of Failure in America. She quotes Sandage by saying, By the end of the 19th century, says Sandage, failure had gone from being a professional mishap to a name for a deficient self, an identity in the red. (Baird, Redefining Failure). By quoting from another source who has a similar opinion, Baird is giving the reader multiple references that represent her goal. This shows a competent understanding of the argument that she is providing. Additionally, at this point in Baird s article, she reinstates why Willy from the Death of a Salesman is related to the changing definition of failure. She does this by quoting yet another source, saying, By the middle of the last century, at the time Willy Loman was hawking his wares, Americans could not face the possibility of defeat in one s personal life or one s work without being morally destroyed, according to sociologist David Riesman. (Baird, Redefining Failure). Baird uses this

A Career As A Spanish Language Teacher When I was younger I observed and experienced the Spanish culture and found such interest in expanding my education to later on pursue the career of a Spanish Language Teacher. After researching the responsibilities, the work conditions, salary, the outlook, and future; a career as a spanish language teacher would be interesting, and the perfect training would be at St. Mary s University at San Antonio. Tasks and responsibilities for this career are all very different and must be done on a daily basis when getting the students to comprehend and understand the new teachings. Foreign Language Teachers must make sure to interpret the terminology and translate it into the student s natural language to help them understand better in their learning. They must also provide instruction in the literature and also in the history of the culture so that the students will be learning correctly. Professors should also tests students frequently to see their progress so that they know exactly where they re at. These tests and other activities will show the teacher if the students understand to read, write, and most importantly the overall understanding in the dialect. If the instructor sees that the students may need a bit more of help with understanding, it is recommended that the students work in small groups so that other learners that have a better understanding of the language can help the ones that don t really understand. Professors should also ensure students that they are in a

  • 49. The Current State Of Our Post Secondary Education System The current state of our post secondary education system should not be judged simply by the growing debt accumulated by students and parents. Many of us are aware that the current outstanding debt of college loans is roughly a trillion dollars with growing delinquency rates. The issues with the post secondary education system are often limited to single item discussions such as textbook prices or rising tuition costs. These issues when looked at unilaterally do not give insight into the entire picture and often cause topical tunnel vision. The problems of higher education are multifaceted and born from the linkage between accreditation boards, educational institutions, textbook publishers, and federal aid. When focusing on these connections we find not only parasitic relationships and borderline abuse but also a fundamentally flawed, antiquated approach to educating our future generations. The United States faces an educational epidemic. Our country has seen a massive decrease in reliance on manufacturing in the last three decades replaced by an ever increasing reliance on knowledge based services. Gone are the days when a high school diploma and a family member in a union meant stable incomes and traceable futures. Over the coming years a high school diploma will open only one third of the job market doors as advanced education becomes more desirable and in many cases required. According to the American Community Survey in 2008, a high school degree

When Mr.s Gelwicks first assigned this essay, I was clueless as
