Depression Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of depression can be a challenging endeavor, as it requires a
delicate balance of empathy, research, and personal reflection. The difficulty lies not only in the
need for a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter but also in the emotional toll it
may take on the writer.
To begin with, delving into the complexities of depression demands a thorough exploration of its
various facets, ranging from the biological and psychological aspects to societal influences. A
writer must invest time in researching credible sources, studies, and personal accounts to create a
well-informed and nuanced piece.
Moreover, the emotional sensitivity surrounding the topic makes it challenging to maintain
objectivity while discussing the subjective experiences of individuals grappling with depression.
Striking the right balance between empathy and analytical reasoning is crucial to avoid veering
into overly sentimental or clinical territory.
Additionally, the introspective nature of writing on depression may lead the author to confront
their own emotions and experiences, adding a layer of personal challenge. Navigating the fine
line between sharing genuine insights and respecting the privacy and dignity of those affected by
depression requires a careful and thoughtful approach.
Despite these challenges, writing an essay on depression offers an opportunity for personal
growth and a deeper understanding of mental health issues. It allows the writer to contribute to
the ongoing conversation surrounding mental well-being and potentially make a positive impact
on readers.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on depression is a demanding task that requires a delicate
balance of research, empathy, and introspection. However, the potential to raise awareness and
foster understanding makes the effort worthwhile. For those seeking assistance with similar
essays or a variety of topics, services like HelpWriting.net offer a convenient solution.

Abstract:
Silver nanoparticles were biosynthesized via a green route using 10 different plants
extracts and formed AgNPs were tested against drug resistant microbes and their
biofilms. These nanoparticles were characterized using UV vis spectroscopy and
TEM which confirmed their synthesis, shape and size. FTIR clearly demonstrated
the presence of the bio groups on the surface of AgNPs. XRD confirmed the
crystalline structure of AgNPs. TEM images were further analyzed using Image J
software which showed that majority of particles were under 100 nm and majorly
distributed over 1 to 60 nm size range. Their antimicrobial efficacy was checked
against bacteria harboring antibiotic resistance genes like CTX M 3, CTX M 15,
OXA 1, arm A, SHV 1 and NDM 1 in gram negative bacteria and fluconazole,
amphotericin B and itraconazole resistant genes in fungus. Gram positive bacteria
and fungi Candida albicans were inhibited at higher MICs values in comparison to
Gran negative bacterial strains. The result indicated that these particles were
antibacterial in nature without
Gender Differences in TV
Malcolm in the Middle Television holds an important part in most of our lives.
From a young age, we spend countless hours sitting in front of a television set. Every
year there are new shows created, and our favorite shows are renewed for another
season. There are numerous programs to choose from. Televisionbroadcasts are free,
and there are also paid options for more diverse programming. We are fortunate
enough to be able to spend on average a third of our leisure time watching television
all from the comfort of our homes. Given the incredible reach that television has on
our lives, we can say that television has a significant impact on our lives. Authors,
Renzetti and Curran, claim that television is a profound socializing... Show more

As previously mentioned, Renzetti and Curran, make several claims about the kind
of gendered messages that we as a society receive via our favorite television shows.
I selected three other claims to see whether or not they held true for Malcolm in the
Middle. The first claim is that female characters are more likely than men to use sex
or romantic charm to get what they want. Men, in contrast, are more likely than
women to use physical force. I recorded each instance of use or threat of physical
force and whether it was a man or woman who did so. Each instance of sex or
romantic charm was also recorded according to which sex used that technique.
Another claim was only 28% of women are shown on the job compared to 41% of
male characters. I kept a tally of characters that were shown on the job or made any
reference to their jobs. The last claim I chose to analyze was that men on television
are rarely shown doing housework (one to three percent compared to twenty to
twenty seven percent of women). I kept a tally of each instance that a household
chore was done and whether it was a man or woman who took care of the task. The
first claim that I analyzed was that women are more likely to use charm and men are
more likely to use physical force held true according to my sample. There were three
instances of using charm. Hal, the father, did so once. Lois, the mother, did so the
other two times. The second
Stoker s Treatment Of Women In Dracula
Dracula still maintains a strong connection to modern day readers through its
similarities to female vampire myths from Europe, many including the male
characters dominating the females. The Dearg Due, an Irish vampire, is an
example of a creature similar to those in Stoker s novel. According to Kim, an
author on Got Ireland, the Dearg Due is a legendary beauty, with blood red lips
and pale blonde hair, but before she was turned into a monster, she had been given
to a cruel man and suffered terrible mental and physical abuse at the hands of her
new husband. As a mortal, she had no influence on her life, and was married off to a
abominable man just so her power hungry father could earn some more money and a
higher social status. Her life
Analysis Of Tobias Wolff s The Bullet Of The Brain
Tobias Wolff uses imagery in his short story Bullet in the Brain provides a visual
portrait that captures attention. He clarifies in an interview with Sanford
University what short stories require, You want large results from it, and you re
compelled by its very shortness to using all your resources of language, form and
understanding (Schrieberg 1998). He uses language in the story offering instances
of imagery to describe the media critic. Anders is portrayed as weary, and elegantly
savage in his reviews. In each scene of the story Anders observes and uses biting
words to offer his approval or distaste. He uses words to critique events while waiting
with the customers at the bank, with the thieves and with the shot starting his
recollections. There is a deeper vision into his brain not only with the speeding bullet
but incite to words. The use of imagery in the short storyprovides a distorted image of
the character Anders, not the real image of a man with the passion for words and the
happiness they create.
The bank blooms the imagery of Anders. Standing in a long line behind annoying
people creates a murderous temper within his brain. His anger builds with the
closing of the teller s line, yet does not use his vicious sarcasm to the bank
employees it is the customers around him that are witness to his venom. Damned
unfair, tragic. If they re not chopping off the wrong leg, or bombing your ancestral
village, they re closing their positions (Wolff 1995). The image
Research Paper On Materialistic Society
Our Materialistic Society
The term materialism is known as a philosophy, and also an issue in our society. By
definition, materialism is the theory or attitude that physical well being and worldly
possessions constitute the greatest good and highest value in life (Khan). This means
that our society has a tendency to consider material items or money as more
important than our spiritual values. Since youth, children have thought that having
more stuff, or better stuff, is happiness. Everyone always wants to buy the latest
device, or the newest trends, when they don t really need it. According to DeAngelis,

For example, you can avoid impulsive buying by waiting at least two weeks before
buying something you think you want. That way, if you don t want it anymore, you
won t regret buying it (Meeks). You can also skip window shopping the next time
you go to the mall or pass by a store; it s better not to tempt yourself. In addition,
instead of buying the newest things that come out, you can just wait until you need
to replace them. If everyone just tried to be less materialistic, we can make our
society less focused on things and more on what truly

A Street in Marrakech Review Essay
To detach from the familiar and to immerse into the unknown is a familiar process to
human beings. From leaving a mothers womb to attending college, human beings are
constantly confronted with change. However, persistent change does not facilitate
the process required to assimilate. In the novel, A Street in Marrakech, Elizabeth
Fernea embarks on a journey to Moroccoand is met with resentment and belligerence.
Her tale as an outsider, searching for the essence of Marrakech that is concealed to
most Westerners, exemplifies immersing oneself into the unknown. Elizabeth Fernea
and husband Bob Fernea travel to Marrakech, Morocco because Mr. Fernea receives
a scholarship grant to study anthropology in Morocco. From the start of the book, it...

He defines Orientalism as the pattern of the misrepresentations of the non western
world. Said believes that Westerners have the ability to romanticize the East into
anything because it is more able to write travel books and accounts, skewing the
publics opinions of the East. However, Fernea is far from corroborating Said s
argument because she does not hold herself on a higher pedestal than the people of
Morocco in any way. She does not romanticize the Middle East by claiming that her
travel was a life altering experience, yet she manages to capture the West s
understanding of the Middle East through her narrative. This book reminds me a
lot of Paul Theroux s Dark Star Safari because it chronicles an Americans
experience in the Middle East, yet Paul Theroux lacks the elegance that Fernea
displays because he makes the people of Egypt out to be barbaric like Said proves
in his theory. For example, in the families visit to the public square Djemaa el Fna,
Laila wonders why her mother gives the beggar a coin and Fernea has the opportunity
to delineate the way in which the West and the East handle poverty differently. She
does so by neither bolstering nor denouncing either culture but by making the
differences apparent. As an Indian child born in America, I understand the importance
in accurately portraying a culture because absurd notions can be easily formed from
the strong convictions of writers.
What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Euro In
Euro
The euro is now used by 18 of the 28 member states of the European Union. On the
1st January 1999 the euro was first introduced as a virtual currency. It was originally
used as a currency to exchange between countries in the European Union while the
countries continued on using their own different currencies for domestic trade. The
eurowas introduced in Ireland when the physical euro became the standard currency
in Europe three years later on the 1st of January 2002.
It was created to establish monetary union within the European Union under the
provisions that were set out in the 1992 Maastricht Treaty. This Treaty outlined that
member states using the euro must follow strict guidelines such as having a debt less
than sixty percent of GDP ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The single currency makes international trade easier as there is more transparency
of prices when there are less currencies to convert between to see where offers the
best deal. Buyers from different countries can easily see where they will get the best
bargain from because all the prices will be in euro and they won t have to worry
about converting prices.
A disadvantage of the euro is that traders around the world looking to buy the euro
will look at whether to buy euros depending on the national economies of the
countries using the euro. So if there are negative reports about a few economies, the
euro exchange rate as a whole may fall, despite the economies of all the other
member states being okay.
The euro promotes trade and investment from global businesses outside the Eurozone
which helps boost the European economy. Countries outside the Eurozone find the
single currency an attractive quality to have in European countries to outsource their
businesses in. Careful economic management within the EU makes the euro an
attractive and strong currency. Having a single currency throughout almost all of
Europe makes the euro more powerful in the global
The Employment Laws
Introduction The purpose of this research is to prove that the employment at will
doctrine does not protect the employee population in the United States. The fact that
if you look at the way the doctrine is written it protects the employers and firms, and
this as a result creates discrimination. This in itself creates an unsafe and sometime
unstable work environment because of the potential for high turnover, costly training,
and low morale amongst employees. There are certain factors that must be considered
within the employee at will doctrine such as union protection, the economy,
contracting verses employment, discrimination and the economic stance on the

Insurance rates are constantly growing in cost and companies both large and small
try to minimize risks as much as possible in order to avoid being dropped from a
policy or the expense becoming so large that it is unreasonable. If this is to occur, a
company would be forced to shut their doors and fold. Health and safety
management systems are implemented with stringent enforcement in result of these
possibilities. Health and safety training Health and safety training includes the
review of responsibilities, the knowledge of policy settings, videos, interaction
with OSHA, and review of the surroundings in the workplace. Many factories and
organizations in general have gone to great lengths to make employees aware of
their surroundings and what they are dealing with every day. The government
organization OSHA has implemented rules in posting of all dangerous or non
dangerous chemicals and materials in the organization s workplace. The MSDS
books and charts have helped instruct employees in the dangers of certain chemicals
and how to deal with the handling and cleanup of these dangerous chemicals and
materials. The MSDS charts and books let the employees find certain numbers to
call to assist them in case of an accident. The training of employees in the use and
understanding of where to find these charts and books have been very advantageous.
Other standards are also very useful. The ANSI/ASQC have
The Goal Of Marketing Strategy
The goal of marketing strategy is to increase sales and reach a competitive
advantage. It involves careful planning and scanning of internal and external
environments. Internal factors are such as performance analysis, market mix,
strategic constraints, and market mix modelling. External factors are such as
analyzing the competition, evaluation of technological, economic, cultural, and
political or legal elements, and target analysis. The twelve years that Charles Tandy
reinvented RadioShack, he understood the same criteria. His successors tried to
follow his footsteps, but there was a rapid change in technology. After the war, he
identified a new area of supply and started sending mail. Few years later after it
traded on the New York Stock Exchange, it ventured into an electronic firm. He tried
to help it stay afloat by cutting inventories and maintaining merchandise that had
high profit margins. Philosophy 2.6 The Philosophy of the firm was to provide
electronic devices and accessories and a lower price than larger scale businesses the
local greater population. The firm also maintained competitive prices and advertising
to attract customers. They increased bonuses based on store revenue percentage to
create competitiveness among their workers in various stores. In addition, the store
started to design their merchandise and only dealt with private label items in order to
eliminate intermediaries. However, with the rapid change of technology RadioShack
could not be
The Advantages Of Deep Brain Stimulation
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a neurosurgical procedure introduced in 1987. This
procedure uses the implantation of a medical device called neurostimulator. A
neurostimulator sends electrical impulses, through implanted electrodes, to specific
targets in the brain for the treatment of movement and neuropsychiatric (branch of
medicine that deals with mental disorders) disorders. DBS in select brain regions has
provided therapeutic benefits for disorders such as Parkinson s disease, essential
tremor, chronic pain, major depression and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).
DBS and its underlying principles and mechanisms are still not clear. DBS directly
changes brain activity in a controlled manner, its effects are reversible unlike other
techniques, and it is one of only a few neurosurgical methods that allow blinded
studies. Deep Brain Stimulationis approved by FDA in USA.... Show more content on

Locus Of Control Essay
After taking the assessment of the Locus of Control Assessment, my note was 20
/20. It means that external events have no effect on my life. In other words, I can
say, for sure, to have an internal locus of control. Those who have the same way to
analyze and tend positively, value the effort and personal skill. Those with an
internal locus of control tend naturally to accept the responsibility and blame for
their failures and selections. According to Monroe and Oliviere (2007), people
believe that their behaviors are guiding by their personal choices and efforts unit.
This attitude can make you depressed, which I think is negative for an internal locus
of control. Decisions made it, must be correct, to ensure that the right thing was
carried out. Those who have control of the personal way to look the life, understand,
if something is not as planned, may have had something to do wrong reasoning of
them. We, with external focus of control, believe that the perception that luck or
external forces that are beyond personal control determine their destiny. This
definition is the knowledge that the events are not related to itself, events that cannot
be controlling by its effort and dedication. Such a person, his or her characteristic, by

Tuskegee Airmen Segregation
The Tuskegee Airmen handled segregation very well during their time in training for
World War Two. The training of the Tuskegee Airmen was an essential part of their
achievements in the war. [...]Tuskegee Institute was nominated as the citizen contract
faculty to accommodate and prepare African American aeronautics cadets and pre
flight and primary flight preparation level (Carter). This shows that without the
Tuskegee Institute, the Tuskegee Airmenwould not have been trained correctly to fly
and fight in the war. The location of the Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama
showed that the Airmen fought through a great deal of segregation. In addition, the
Civil Pilots Training Act played a major role in the start of the Airmen s training....

The missions that the Tuskegee Airmen had to complete were incredibly difficult.
Their primary missions were to escort bombers striking targets in Southern Europe.
Davis insisted his men stay close to the bombers they were escorting, rather than
peeling off to pursue enemy fighters ( Tuskegee Airmen ). The Tuskegee Airmen
were an extraordinarily disciplined group of men and more importantly escorting
pilots. They always worried about the task at hand, never about something that
they reacted to. The Tuskegee Airmen were a strong minded group of men while
they were overseas. The 99th Pursuit, Squadron under the command of Benjamin
O. Davis, the first black man to hold the rank of general in the U.S. Army, was
unwanted by the commander of the fighter group it was assigned to ( Tuskegee
Airmen ). The Tuskegee Airmen and in particular Benjamin O. Davis, persisted and
never gave up to live their dream and what they had been fighting for. The Airmen
stuck together as a group of team and never let each other down. The Airmen always
cared for the task at hand. Perhaps the most spectacular mission flown by the 332nd
was on March 24, 1945. One Tuskegee Airmen was lost on the mission, but no U.S.
bombers were lost, despite the Germans; pitting their latest and best fighters against
the Americans ( The Inspiring And True Story). They defied the odds and proved
The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat Case Study
Case SummaryIn the third section of The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat,
Oliver Sacks introduces two new patients: Mrs. O C and Mrs. O M. Sacks opens
with the case of Mrs. O C. One night, Mrs. O C was dreaming about her childhood
in Ireland and the music she would dance and sing to. When she woke up, she was
still hearing the same song. At first, she thought that she was remembering her
dream, but the song kept playing and it did not go away. As the day continued, she
started to fear for her sanity and quickly went to see Dr. Sacks. Sacks performed an
EEG test on her and found that whenever Mrs. O C said she was experiencing a
musical moment, her temporal lobe was hyperactive. This indicated to Sacks that she
was experiencing an epileptic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seizures stimulated by thinking of music also supported this theory since there is
recruitment of musical memory and its associated emotion (Maguire, 2012). Mrs.
O C is a good example of this. Mrs. O C only had seizures when thinking about her
childhood in Ireland and the specific Irish songs she would sing and dance to.
Orphaned at five years old, Mrs. O C moved to America to live with family. These
Irish songs caused her to be flooded with memories of her time in Ireland when her
mother and father were both alive, a time she had hardly remembered before these
musical seizures began (Sacks, 1970). It is also interesting to consider Mrs. O M s
case when thinking about emotional connections. Mrs. O M reported no emotional
connection to the songs she was hearing, however had been humming them before
the seizures began. This seems to indicate that there was some type of emotional
connection and that is probably why those specific songs were what played on repeat
in her head every time she had a seizure (Sacks, 1970). This emotional connection is
thought to be due to synchronized rhythms of electrical activity. When neuronal
rhythms are synchronized in specific brain regions, memories are formed more
effectively. Responding to a song emotionally is thought the cause neurons to become
excited and form these synchronized rhythms which in turn cause the brain to
associate seizures with memories of a specific genre/type of music (Swaminathan,
Postmodern Deconstructionism In Alice Walker s Everyday
Use
No matter what age or generation, people live in a world filled with opposition and
conflict. Though this sounds harsh and unforgiving, this description is completely
and utterly accurate. In society, people run into all sorts of oppositions without
realizing it at all. For example, a person could walk into a darkened room and flip
on the light without stopping to ponder the conflict between light and dark . These
examples in our daily lives drones on and on from the difference between hot and
cold water to the difference between your phone when it is on or off. Though these
types of oppositions seem mundane to the average person, to a deconstructionist
these distinct concepts are imperative in deconstructing a text. When people describe
deconstructing a text, they are referring to the postmodern deconstructionism which
focuses mainly on these oppositions and the type of relationship they share. When
referring to these oppositions, a deconstructionist uses the word binary which can be
found in literature of all types and through all sorts of literary interpretations. Alice
Walker s Everyday Use is no exception to this concept with its story focusing on
lifestyle and heritage differences displayed between the main characters. Though one
can interpret Everyday Use as a story presenting the two binary aspects of a
traditional, heritage based, yet impoverished lifestyle and an affluent, modern, yet
forward thinking lifestyle as completely opposing concepts, one can
Comparison Of Cosmos And The Scientific Theory Of
Creation
A problem I have thought of for a long time and might want to solve one day is
how the bible and the scientific theory of the creation of the universe do not match
up. All I have really done is read over Genesis a couple of times and watched a few
documentaries like Cosmos, but I do have a basic theory worked out. First of all, the
bibleis not literal. There is probably someone who was known as Jesuswhich I
believe had great influence over the people back then. There might not be a God, but I
lean towards the idea that there is, and the universe was not made in 7 days, at least
not 7 earth days. To god, an earth day may be a couple of milliseconds. Cosmos
describes a calendar with all of time since the beginning of the universe stuffed into...

Finally, the age of mammals has arrived. Let the land produce living creatures
according to their kinds:the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground,
and the wild animals, each according to its kind. (Gen 1.24) The rest of the wild
animals we see today are created over time. This step describes how all the life
began to evolve and diversifying as God made each species unique. Then God
said, Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over
the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild
animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. We the humans
were made. There was not any lie either when it stated man will rule over livestock
and wild animals as that is what the people are doing today. In god s image I
believe just means that we have the power to change the world just like god. If it is
true then it would not be going against the chance that there are aliens on other
planets. The bible describes that on every planet with life, eventually one will rise up
to become the ruler of it all as humans have become for the earth. Expandable
Finally, the last day was about god resting. He rested and we did not see many of
his actions any longer. There might have been a few changes, but god does not do
the big things he did when the universe started any more. He only makes small
changes now, miracles every now and then. The only big thing might be the
description of Jesus coming down to earth as it does take up its own testament.
However as god rests, there is less evidence of his power in the universe, and
therefore, almost no one has truly seen
Balancing Work Life and Home Life
Balancing Work Life and Home Life The purpose of the article is to discuss what
organizations can do to adopt more effective management of professional and private
life. Organizations need to help employees define the boundaries between home and
work. These boundaries should be more flexible than they currently are, the value of
transition time between home and work should be recognized, and family should be
more consciously included into career and human resource management. What the
two authors proposed was a new way of looking at the issue: analysis of the daily
transitions both physical and psychological between work and home. They have...

Numerous studies have been conducted on work life balance. The conflict is
primarily caused by two scenarios. The first being an employee bringing home
matters to work, or work matters to home. The second scenario is when work time
interferes on home time. Of all the job factors that influence work life conflict, the
amount of time spent at work is the strongest and most consistent predictor. The
higher levels of work to family conflict reported by managers or professionals often
are a function of their longer work hours. Other reasons include: job security, support
from one s supervisor, support from co workers, work demands or overload, work
role conflict, work role ambiguity, job dissatisfaction, and extensive use of
communication technology that blurs the boundaries between home and work.
When work and life are imbalanced it will lead to an array of problems. Many
employees experience burnout due to overwork and increased stress. This
condition ranges from blue collar workers to upper management. Over the past
decade, rises in workplace violence, an increase in levels of absenteeism, as well as
rising workers compensation claims are all evidence of an unhealthy work life
balance. Personal ambitions, the pressure of family obligations, and accelerating
pace of technology all play a part to causing this condition. There are several
possibilities to provide a balanced work life and learning how to eliminate home and
work place stress. An employee

Tolerance In The Fire Next Time
As a society, we are more tolerable towards each other than we have ever been
before. Yet, the discriminations and hate speeches are still a part of our lives that
we grow to ignore. Then the question that should be asked is why is racism,
sexism, homophobia, transphobia etc. are still topics of discussion which can be
observed in the book The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin as he talks about being
in a part of the black community and the struggles he faces. This question can be
answered if the option that people got it all wrong at the very beginning is
considered. Instead of teaching people to acknowledge each other s existence people
were taught to ignore people who were different than themselves, to know that they

other people s right to live as equal to ours or create a distinction between our lives
and theirs. Because of these reasons that even though tolerance is a step towards
bringing people together it is not as effective as acceptance. Barry Schwartz shows
how the toleration is just the beginning by stating that perhaps fifty years ago for
Jews in America tolerance was good enough: You don t have to approve of us or
even respect us. Just leave us alone, let us use a little corner of your field, and we ll
stay out of your way. Even if you don t let us into your prestigious universities and
professional schools, as long as you don t bother us, we ll make do. but right now
in the world that we are living in minorities demand Who are you to tolerate me?
Who are you to say that my way of life is inferior to yours? Who are you to judge?
(Schwartz) This points to the fact that for example for black people it is not
enough anymore to be let by white people to have the same education, use the
same toilets and eat in the same places. Which is an example of toleration. White
people after many years learned to tolerate black people s right to be in the same
space as they are yet the barrier is still there which can be very easily observed
through the Black Lives Matter movement. Movement which arose as a campaign
against violence and systemic racism against black people but turned into a way to
see how white people turned a blind eye to racism that is still going on with
suggesting All Lives Matter and rejected the fact that what black people asked was
not more than equality. As we drift further away from the times that slavery was an
option, people started to see that it got harder to outwardly hate black people.
Disadvantages Of Professional Kitchen Remodeling
Are you a homeowner who is looking to have your kitchen remodeled? If you are,
you likely already know that you, literally, have an unlimited number of options. In
addition to what you would like remodeled and how you would like everything to
look, you can also choose how your remodeling gets done. While a large number of
homeowners make the decision to do their own kitchen remodeling, there are others
who choose to use the assistance of a professional. That professional is often
commonly referred to as a contractor. One of the best ways to determine whether you
not you should use a professional contractor is to examine the advantages and
disadvantages of doing so.
As you may have already assumed, there are an unlimited number of benefits to
having your kitchen remodeled by a professional. Perhaps, the greatest benefit of a
professional kitchen remodeling job is the end result. In almost all cases, you will
find that a professional remodeling job is better than one that is performed by
someone without experience. Although it may sound easy to replace the lighting in
your kitchen or your kitchen countertops, you will find that it isn t always as easy as
it sounds. Instead of taking the time to learn, a large number of homeowner
automatically turn to a professional contractor.
Speaking of time, you will also find that time is another advantage to using a
professional contractor to remodel your kitchen. Since professional contractors are
experienced at what they do, they
The Importance Of Righteousness In The Book Of Job
Book of Job
Job was a righteous man who feared God and upheld divine standards. He
abounded in gifts of mercy and acts of godly devotion. Job routinely offered
sacrifices to atone for his children s sins. Hence, God was quite pleased to observe
as His servant maintained integrity in his dealings (Carney, 2014). The Almighty
spoke about Job s godly devotion to Satan the Devil. It was then that the latter
questioned Job s motives. In fact, Satan claimed that Job was primarily concerned
with selfish interests. The Devil accused God of providing inordinate protection to
his servant. In this regard, the Almighty was presumed to have bribed Job. God saw
it fit to allow Satan to bring trials upon Job to test the patriarch s motives (Carney,
2014). In this essay, I will highlight the significance of righteousness in the debates
between Job and his friends.
Job s debate with his friends was precipitated by the former s determination to
uphold righteous standards. Notably, Job experienced tremendous tribulations due to
Satan s efforts. His 10 children died while his livestock was killed. Job s servants
also died under mysterious circumstances. Unfortunately, his wife deserted and
mocked him for his faith in God. In fact, she taunted him to curse God and die.
Nevertheless, these events could not break Job s integrity. Satan was determined to
intensify his physical attacks on Job. The patriarch was struck with a debilitating
illness that subjected him to constant pain (Carney, 2014).
Erectile Dysfunction History
History of ED Treatment Erectile dysfunction is one of the most serious diseases
all the time. But today, this disease has taken menacing proportions. The first
mention of impotence In literature, Thomas Hokkliva dated 1420 year first
mentioned the word impotence in a poem. However, this term had a slightly
different meaning it can easily be replaced by the words powerless and helpless .
In its usual sense, the word is found in the book History of the Church in Britain
dated 1655 year. There, the Pope virility of the Pope was called into doubt. It is
difficult to believe but one of the first mentions of the word impotence was recorded
in the Bible, where it had a clear reference to the sexual weakness of King David.

Such sentiments prevailed in the minds until the 19th century. In Russia, folk
methods of treating impotence were popular. One of the recipes advised men to
smear the man parts with a mixture of deer fat and chopped chicken hearts. In the
late 19th century, scientific approach to the problem of sexual disorders appeared.
American William Hammond, in 1883, wrote his Sexual impotence in the male and
called early sex and masturbation the main reasons for ED. The scientist suggested
the young men to refuse sex life up to 21 years, and limit the number of sexual acts
to three a month. As the ED treatment, William Hammond suggested the abstention
for a year. At the same time, moxibustion therapy with nettles and electrical
stimulation were developed. In the 20th century, the struggle against male
impotence became more efficient. Masturbation was justified, and doctors divided
the causes of ED into psychological and physical. An enormous role was given to
the background diseases that provoke impotence. The medicine made a huge step
forward. There was a set of effective methods of treatment, which gave positive
results in 95 % of cases, and the men returned to the joy of sexual life. For the
treatment of psychological ED, hypnosis was actively used in 60s. Since 1982,
doctors prescribed a special injection into the penis. Since 1985, vasodilators came to
the rescue. At the beginning of the century, men got grafts in the

Part one: Dead set 2008
The week one screening of film Dead Set, a horror drama film created by Charlie
Brooker and directed by Yann De mange chronicles a nightmare scenario in which
Britain is taken over by Zombies. It is essentially a spoof on reality television that
depicts both the inside and outside worlds of the UK s version of Big Brother. The
film explores the parallels between zombies and contemporary reality television.
Zombies represent the darker side of human nature (Gadsby, 2011), coinciding with
the idea that reality television has the power to destruct and generate conceptions that
construct the way society thinks.
Brookers film looks at the power of media influence. It reflects the ideology of the
modern day society, where people have become to consumed in media and just like
zombies have their minds set on one thing. This can follow the idea of the
Hypodermic Needle Theory, established by Harold Lasswell in 1920s, which
assumes audiences are passive, and homogenous. The theory assumes that the media
s message is a bullet fired from the media gun into the viewers head (Berger, 1995).
Furthermore, the worlds bullet and needle are used to show the powerlessness of the
audience as media impacts public opinion and behaviour change.
Booker examines the history of reality TV and wants audiences to consider the
capacity of humankind to consume itself via the media s obsession with representing
back to us the

2. What Types Of AdWords Advertising Campaign Should I Start With?
Set up the best Google AdWords campaign for your business needs. The first question
to ask is, What type of AdWords advertising campaign should I start with? Before you
ask, it s important to understand the difference between them.
Ads go far beyond those little boxes filled with words and pictures that pop up when
someone conducts a Google search. When it comes to Google AdWords, there are
two main types of ad campaigns the search network, and the display network.
Though, it is also possible to select a combination of search and display network
ads. Additionally, there are some specifically focused campaigns that use shopping,
video and apps to draw and keep customers. Here are some of the most widely used
and successful ad campaign types.
The Search Network The way this type of advertising campaign works is that you
link AdWords to keywords and phrases. When someone searches for these linked
key words or phrases, your ad will show up. The ads that appear are relevant to the
person s search. The person searching looks up what they want under a category
heading through Google much like they used to do with a phone directory or
Yellow Pages. For instance, if you are searching for a dentist, related ads for
dentists will conveniently appear. The Search Network type of ad campaign targets
the search partners so that your ads display not only in a Google search but also in
other Google partners, like

Computers have undergone many narratives of focus, from the hardware and
software, to the internet and the World Wide Web, and then again to handheld mobile
devices. Modern hardware on which all of this occurs runs on the microprocessor,
which was invented in the early 1970 s. The concept of binary, which is the
language of processors, can be found in history as late as the 1700 s by Gottfried
Wilhelm Leibinz. Technology has been slowly improving, especially with the
introduction of solid state memory in the late 1960 s. Moore s Law, written in in

The recent trend in computer technology is to instead increase the number of cores
in the processor along with the transistors, to maintain proportional scaling of power.
As a result, architecture researchers have started focusing on100 core and 1000 core
chips and related research topics and called for changes to the undergraduate
curriculum to solve the parallel programming challenge for multicore designs at these
scales (Esmaeilzadeh 2012). Upcoming chips will be limited by power, thus higher
core counts must provide performance gains despite the worsening energy and speed
scaling of transistors.

On Tuesday September 12, 2017, I was getting ready to go out and pay my bills. I
went out the door and went down the stairs and a woman approached me and asked
if I had two dollars. I looked at the woman and act like I did not hear her. Then she
asked me again if I had two dollars and I told her I would have to see if I had any

the door and gave the lady the two dollars. I asked the lady where did she live and
she told me she move in the green house down the street from my house. I introduce

Apology, By Brad Watson
The human experience is a fragile and funny thing. More generally, biological
beings want and feel a need to belong. Yet, humans, as developed and advanced as
they may seem, go out of their way to prevent themselves from doing just that. The
short story Apology , by Brad Watson conveys this message through a depressing
narrative. In it, is a letter, or set of letters written to his supposed ex wife whom one
can surmise has left him. This is a reaction to the main characters drunken actions
throughout their married life. In addition, Watson displays this sympathetic message
through metaphorical and anecdotal means, describing the town in which he has
escaped to, experiences in nature, and past memories of his wife and child. Through
these heartfelt writings, one can surmise that the main character wants to explore the
stubbornness of human naturethrough his own experiences. In doing so, using themes
of self loathing, nostalgia, alcoholism, depression and more.
The setting is one that may cause confusion to many, never being officially
introduced with a name. It can be imagined as the high southwestern plains. He
describes, Pronghorn, jackrabbit, horses, crows. Trains, clouds, the occasional car.
You rarely see people if you don t go downtown (Watson 85). The nameless
protagonist, one of few characters within the piece, is alone. With the mention of only
one comrade within the entire town, he finds himself by his lonesome the majority of
the time. This setting alone,

Physician Assistant Disadvantages
On average it takes about six years to become a physician assistant, but even after
that, people working in this profession have to keep up with changes in the field and
further their education. Physician assistants commonly use an electronic health
record system to keep track of patient records. With technology always changing
and improving, these professionals constantly have to take classes, learning how to
work with these databases. For example, a CNA, Melissa Rodrigues, was required
to take three weekend classes to learn how to use a new EHR database effectively.
Also, to keep their certification, physicianassistants must complete 100 hours of
continuing education every 2 years. Another requirement that just began in 2014 is

This career is growing at a high speed and doesn t look like it will slow down
anytime soon. This field does have some issues with its technology and fast
changes that some cannot handle. To become a PA, it will take a lot of hard work
that will take approximately six years of full time studying. Then it takes 100
hours of education every two years and a recertification exam every ten years to
keep this license. This career also does not require relocation so it is perfect for
someone who likes to stay close to home. There are some cons to this profession
like the fast changes, time spent at work, and the effect it may have on the PA s
health. But, the pros outweigh the cons. The pros include the high demand for
physician assistants, the jobs currently available and will be available in the
future, and the high pay. Someone working in this field won t have to worry about
not being able to find a job because of the high demand all over the country. Also,
finding a college to attend will not be hard because many schools offer this program.
Overall, becoming a PA looks like it would be an amazing
Planned Behavior And Cognitive Dissonance Theory
Using the Theory of Planned Behavior, Cognitive Dissonance Theory, and Self
Perception Theory as my references if a person has a damaging attitude concerning
a certain person or group of people the possible consequences of their actions toward
that person or group of people can alter the way they identify the concepts by
developing the character of one of them. The theory of planned behaviorput together
numerous issues to offer improved calculation. According to this theory, if we want
to predict both intent to behave and actual behavior, we need to know three things:
(1) attitude toward that specific behavior, (2) subjective norms related to that
behavior, and (3) perceived behavioral control (Ajzen, 1991) (Feenstra, 2013). The
cognitive dissonance theory describes how our attitudes alter and has dissimilar

Functional Training Vs Physical Therapy
Functional Training
People who practice functional training or physical therapy use similar techniques to
help their clients improve their mobility and physical quality of life. Physical and
occupational therapists, chiropractors, athletic trainers, and coaches use functional
training exercises that mimic everyday functional movements like pushing, pulling,
squatting, walking, and running to improve a person s strength, mobility, stability,
and flexibility. These exercises help patients and athletes to reach their goals safely
and without causing further harm to an injury.
The Purpose of Functional Training
Functional training involves bodyweight resistance exercises, free and machine
weights, medicine balls, kettlebells, and various other equipment. Exercises are used
to mimic the way the body naturally moves thus limiting the potential for injury.
Building muscles like the biceps or quadriceps in isolation are not the purpose of
functional training. Instead, the purpose is to strengthen the muscles and build
muscle endurance so that a client can better perform daily living tasks. ... Show more

The fourth site was Pasadena in 1993 which was more challenging due to its

sluggish start of this site to the low visibility of the location. However, this did not
stop them from moving forward and in November 1994 Gordon Biersch opened in
Honolulu which quickly became the top grossing restaurant in Hawaii. The next
project was bottling Gordon Biersch signature beer and retailing it. This had three
biggest challenges: this project was entirely Gordon s baby and demanded time and
attention; secondly the freshness of the bottled beer versus the freshly brewed was
an issue for which they decided the beer would have a shelf life no longer than three
months. Thirdly and the most exciting challenge was the head to head competition
with other microbreweries and premium beers. Despite the tough competitive
environment, Gordon Biersch aimed to achieve 11% of the market in three years (by
1996). This retail venture required huge investment, thus they decided to start small

However, the growth they envisioned demanded a lot of time, dedication and

Comparing The Matrix And Back To The Future
In my cross analysis of my four chosen films, a connection I believed was worth
examining was the connection between Wachowski s The Matrix and Robert
Zemeckis s Back to the Future part 2. What connected the two films was that the
directors used advanced scientific concepts in order to grasp the audience s attention.
The Matrixwas based on the theoretical concept that the world we see, the things
we do and the feelings we embrace are merely chemical impulses, which are being
harvested in order to power a world controlled by artificial intelligence. However,
Back to the Future is based on the concept of time travel. In The Matrix, the science

The future has been interpreted in so many ways by science fiction novelists and
directors alike. Different depictions of the future can be observed between Richard
Marquand s Return of the Jedi and Robert Zemeckis s Back to the Future part 2.
Richard Marquand s picture of the future is quite dark and oppressive, where all
the good people of the world are deemed outlaws by injustice, while Robert
Zemeckis s picture of the future is quite uplifting in comparison to Marquand s
picture of the future. Although Return of the Jedi is set a long time ago in a
galaxy far, far away it is still deemed futuristic, due to the use and constant
development of advanced technology throughout the Star Wars series, all star
wars movies are deemed as futuristic. The Return of the Jedi is based on the idea of
a futuristic dictatorship, where justice is rarely served, and where anyone who
rebels against the dark side is as good as dead. This is shown by a quote from the
emperor As you can see, my young apprentice, your friends have failed. Now
witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational battle station! This quote
shows that the emperor is indeed ruthless and will fire upon a small fleet of ships
in a hopeless to instil fear in the mind of Luke Skywalker. This example of the
future shows that when power is put into the wrong hands, a society can fall and
crumble around their new emperor. However, in Back to the Future, the future is a
place where justice systems work efficiently, very little stress is put on the minds
of the people of Hill Valley, and people are able to live free, happy lives. Where
Return of the Jedi s futuristic technology (the death star) is used as a weapon of
mass destruction, Back to the Future s futuristic technology (the flying car) is
purpose built to make life easier for the individuals within their society. Although we
get to see very little of the future in Zemeckis s
The Event I Went At The University Of Minnesota
The event I went to go see was a Guest Master Class instructed by Barthold Kujiken.
This event was held on Sunday afternoon in Ferguson Hall at the University of
Minnesota. It was held in a small auditorium similar to a class setting. Barthold was
accompanied by a student flutist and pianist. A lot of time was spent with the flutist
and pianist playing a part of a piece, and him teaching and demonstrating on how to
improve a piece and explaining the fundamentals of the music. It was a very
informative event/class.
Barthold Kujiken was born March 8, 1949. He s a Belgian flutist and recorder
player. He attended Bruges Conservatory and the Royal Conservatories of Brussels
and The Hague, where he studied the modern flute. He is best known for playing
baroque music on authentic instruments such as the flute. He played in baroque
orchestras for many years, and then went off to playing chamber music concerts all
over the world, where he extended to playing 19th century music. The majority of
the event he talked about Sonata s. As we discussed in class, a sonata is a solo
instrument accompanied by a keyboard. In this case the solo instrument was the
flute and it was accompanied by a piano. The flutist played a major sonata. As she
played apiece he would stop her and tell her a few things to change to improve the
piece, and she would play that piece once again with the revisions. One of the other
things he told her was to play the sonata without any ornaments just the skeleton.
The Betrayal Of Brutus In Julius Caesar
Catharine MacKinnon once said, It s particularly hard to take being stabbed in the
back close to home. There s always a feeling of betrayal when people of your own
group oppose you. In Julius Caesar , Brutus decides to join the conspiracy against
Caesar. This in itself is a huge form of betrayal. The further into the play, the more
suspicion there is with Brutus. What are truly his objectives? How does he want it
all to end? Brutus was naive in believing Cassius. Overall, Brutus did betray Caesar
and it is evident in the story. Cassius is Brutus brother in law. Which means that
Brutus loved Cassius just as much as he loved Caesar. Brutus judgement may have
very well been conflicted because of his relation to Cassius. It is also evident that
Brutus was a good persuader(II, i , 120 130). This would make it apparent that Brutus
persuaded himself, as well as conspiracy, that if he killed Caesar it would be for a

In this citation, it shows that Cassius was jealous. Although, it also showed that
Brutus saw through his jealous and focused on the fawning bestowed upon him.
Lucius, who was Brutus servant gave Brutus anonymous letters that were meant to

enough to not question the letter.(II, i, 46 58). Brutus may have wanted to believe
Cassius words for his own reasons, also being hesitant as being part of the

illuminated the world by creating many statues and buildings as well as believing in
the idea of human flight.

Leonardo designed and experimented many in many fields of science and art. For
example, the anatomy, engineering, and the Renaissance style of art. Leonardo da

He created many engineering designs, paintings, and architectural designs. Leonardo
illuminated the workings of the anatomy, made the Renaissance style of art popular,

Importance Of 21st Century Teaching And Learning
21st Century teaching and learning is about transforming educational practices to
equip students with the skills and know how they will need to navigate life in the
21st century. Bolstad, Gilbert, McDowell, Bull, Boyd and Hopkins argue that 21st
century learning and teaching can be considered as an emerging cluster of new ideas,
beliefs, knowledge, theories and practices (Bolstad et. al., 2012, p. 1). In the
Industrial age of thinking the educationsystem was modelled on a factory assembly
line and the role of the educator was to prepare students for the industrial
workforce. However, we are now living in the age coined the Knowledge era,
where new information is rapidly being created every day and job markets are
shifting and expanding; the top jobs in 2012, didn t exist in 2002 (EF Explore
America, 2012). Because society is undergoing change at an alarming rate creating
new ideas, beliefs, knowledge, theories and practices, the role of education is
becoming unclear. Leaders across the globe are calling for students to have more
sophisticated skills such as evaluating and analysing information and thinking
critically and creatively to solve real world problems (Silva, 2008). Therefore, 21st

collaboration, exploration, cultural awareness, creativity and problem solving, so that
children will be ready for the future and whatever it may bring.

Canadian Literature in Grade 12
Change is a critical part of life. It is evident all around us, especially in the things we
learn. The knowledge available to us in the modern day is dynamic; it is constantly
changing, developing, and providing new points of view. Science and mathematics
curriculums in Ontario high school reflect the evolution of knowledge; they are
edited and adjusted regularly to accommodate new material that should be presented
to students. Shouldn t other subject curriculums, specifically English, be just as
dynamic? It often feels like English curriculums in Ontario high schools are static; the
same books are studied by class after class, generation after generation. The time has
come for change. Ontario students should be exposed to new literature, particularly
Canadian literature. Students need this exposure to Canadian literature to become
more familiar with the literature of their country; through literature, we are able to
focus on our Canadian culture while being surrounded by other cultures, we promote
new, younger authors, and we become aware of the mosaic that is Canadian culture.
Exposing high schoolstudents in Ontario to more Canadian literature would allow
them to develop a deeper appreciation for the Canadian culture, especially when they
are surrounded by other cultural influences. Incorporating Canadian culture more
extensively would create a learning environment where Canadian culture is studied in
depth, allowing students to appreciate its variety and complexity.
I Admire Henri Fayol s Principles
I admire Henri Fayol the most because each of his 14 principles, developed over a
century ago, are still relevant to modern business models. Although I will analyze
each of his principles, my intention is not to regurgitate what you already learned
from studying them, but rather to prove my thesis correct that they are still relevant.
Throughout, I will remain on topic by identifying the pros and cons where they exist.
Specialization/Division of Labor: Car manufacturing companies use specialization to
ensure quality manufacturing in every detail. Sure, they all require the services of
suppliers to establish a finished product (name brand sound systems and navigation

Further, the manager must be held accountable for ensuring his commands are
followed through. The potential negative side exists if her subordinates lose trust in
her directives, either as a result of leadership failure (real or perceived), or from
making consistently wrong decisions.
Discipline: Every significant corporation assumes disciplinary measures for unethical
behavior or insubordination. Without rules and consequence, chaos would ensue. It
positively illuminates conduct management expects from their subordinates by
clearly defining the repercussions for non compliance. However, if the fear of
discipline creates a culture of fear, it has the capacity to severely hinder an employee
s willingness to take appropriate risks. Discipline needs be in meticulous alignment
with the behavior it serves to reinforce without stifling creativity.
Unity of Command: This remains a poignant principle in many businesses today. The
positive attribution to applying this leadership principle, is it ensures the clarity of
employee expectations and directive intention. Too many direct reports can introduce
unnecessary confusion and conflict. However it may not be possible to apply to all
business relationships, such as if the employee s duties are so technically diverse or

Triumph Of The Nerd Essay
Is it selfishness or a devotion to make the world a better place that is driving
computer innovations? For a short while, Imagine that you just have a unique tool
with you, which no one in this world possesses. This tool is specified that it can
change the situation of the whole world and mankind forever. If somebody asks
you that, what you are going to do with this tool? Can you share this with others?
Or will you retain it with you. So that you ll build billions out of it! Isn t it
fascinating? Depending on one s inclination and angle he could select either of
those. Somebody can munificently share it with others so as to serve and facilitate
whereas others entangled in their greediness could build cash out of it! The

Walmart Fiscal Policy
Fiscal policy is a means by which our government regulates its level of spending and
tax rates to observe and impact a country s economy. It is a budget strategy through
which a central bank influences the nation s money source. The positive and negative
consequences of fiscal policy include shortage, surplus, and debt. All have fluctuating
effects on how individuals view the economy, make subjective decisions, and react to
unsettling changes. Individuals should consider focusing on making independent
decisions that provide short and long term profits in uncertain periods. The decisions
made by individuals have lasting effects on the economy when spending increases
and reinvestments in the economy are established.

and changes, Seeing that the odds are in their favor as far as their economical
standpoint is concerned. Of course it is important for the organization to
understand that there will be some issues that may arise. I personally believe that
Wal Mart will not have many issues in the areas of economic weaknesses. Wal Mart
is a company that has a great deal of strengths. They sell their products at very
affordable prices as well as very convenient for costumers. Also With the new rise of
minimum wage as well as the opportunities more jobs will be created which will
encourage Wal Mart to expand and generate more money throughout the organization.
Along with better job opportunities within their stores I think the some other

Headless Horseman Character Analysis
Many connections to famous books or movies can be made to the Headless
Horseman or the Heissan as he is referred to many times in the original Sleepy
Hollow . The Headless Horseman has a few key traits: engimatic, supernatural, and
terror raising/feared. Only a few have ever come face to face with the Horseman,
the nemesis of Ichabod Crane (main character) Brom Van Brunt has a supposed run
in with the horseman and lives to tell the tale, while the village elders go off of
stories. When his name is spoken townsfolk quiver at the stories and terror brought
about by the mistery of the supernatural. This horseman is no ordinary horseman, he
frightens the whole town, patrolling the church grounds where he is supposedly
buried, he makes quick work of anyone who dares go near.... Show more content on

On the contrary, the Heissan returned a malevolent spirit while Jason never really
died in the beginning. While the Heissan has one personality, not the same can be
said about Jason: Jason developed a second personality. While Jason was a scared,
lonely little boy, this other self, which I will call The Mask for simplicity s sake,
was a more assertive, aggressive individual, fearless in the face of any hardship or
opponent. When Jason put The Mask on, he wasn t a little boy any more. He was
someone strong, someone powerful, not only capable of surviving, but thriving in
the wilderness surrounding Camp Crystal Lake. (Bloodsprayer psychology behind
Jason) When he goes into his innocent personality, Jason becomes a lot more clumsy
and not as well formed as his other half. In conclusion, the Headless Horseman can
be compared to many movie and book villains, mostly the killers of the pop

Depression Essays. Great Depression Essay Sample

  • 1. Depression Essays Writing an essay on the topic of depression can be a challenging endeavor, as it requires a delicate balance of empathy, research, and personal reflection. The difficulty lies not only in the need for a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter but also in the emotional toll it may take on the writer. To begin with, delving into the complexities of depression demands a thorough exploration of its various facets, ranging from the biological and psychological aspects to societal influences. A writer must invest time in researching credible sources, studies, and personal accounts to create a well-informed and nuanced piece. Moreover, the emotional sensitivity surrounding the topic makes it challenging to maintain objectivity while discussing the subjective experiences of individuals grappling with depression. Striking the right balance between empathy and analytical reasoning is crucial to avoid veering into overly sentimental or clinical territory. Additionally, the introspective nature of writing on depression may lead the author to confront their own emotions and experiences, adding a layer of personal challenge. Navigating the fine line between sharing genuine insights and respecting the privacy and dignity of those affected by depression requires a careful and thoughtful approach. Despite these challenges, writing an essay on depression offers an opportunity for personal growth and a deeper understanding of mental health issues. It allows the writer to contribute to the ongoing conversation surrounding mental well-being and potentially make a positive impact on readers. In conclusion, crafting an essay on depression is a demanding task that requires a delicate balance of research, empathy, and introspection. However, the potential to raise awareness and foster understanding makes the effort worthwhile. • 2. Green Silver Nanoparticles From 10 Plants Essay Biofabrication of green silver nanoparticles from 10 plants; an efficient approach to inhibit multi drug resistant microbes and their biofilms. Shariq Qayyuma and Asad U Khana a Medical microbiology and molecular biology, Laboratory Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh 202002, India Author for correspondence: Email: asadukhan72@gmail.com Phone No.:+91 9837021912 Abstract: Silver nanoparticles were biosynthesized via a green route using 10 different plants extracts and formed AgNPs were tested against drug resistant microbes and their biofilms. These nanoparticles were characterized using UV vis spectroscopy and TEM which confirmed their synthesis, shape and size. FTIR clearly demonstrated the presence of the bio groups on the surface of AgNPs. XRD confirmed the crystalline structure of AgNPs. TEM images were further analyzed using Image J software which showed that majority of particles were under 100 nm and majorly distributed over 1 to 60 nm size range. Their antimicrobial efficacy was checked against bacteria harboring antibiotic resistance genes like CTX M 3, CTX M 15, OXA 1, arm A, SHV 1 and NDM 1 in gram negative bacteria and fluconazole, amphotericin B and itraconazole resistant genes in fungus. Gram positive bacteria and fungi Candida albicans were inhibited at higher MICs values in comparison to Gran negative bacterial strains. The result indicated that these particles were antibacterial in nature without
  • 3. Gender Differences in TV Malcolm in the Middle Television holds an important part in most of our lives. From a young age, we spend countless hours sitting in front of a television set. Every year there are new shows created, and our favorite shows are renewed for another season. There are numerous programs to choose from. Televisionbroadcasts are free, and there are also paid options for more diverse programming. We are fortunate enough to be able to spend on average a third of our leisure time watching television all from the comfort of our homes. Given the incredible reach that television has on our lives, we can say that television has a significant impact on our lives. Authors, Renzetti and Curran, claim that television is a profound socializing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As previously mentioned, Renzetti and Curran, make several claims about the kind of gendered messages that we as a society receive via our favorite television shows. I selected three other claims to see whether or not they held true for Malcolm in the Middle. The first claim is that female characters are more likely than men to use sex or romantic charm to get what they want. Men, in contrast, are more likely than women to use physical force. I recorded each instance of use or threat of physical force and whether it was a man or woman who did so. Each instance of sex or romantic charm was also recorded according to which sex used that technique. Another claim was only 28% of women are shown on the job compared to 41% of male characters. I kept a tally of characters that were shown on the job or made any reference to their jobs. The last claim I chose to analyze was that men on television are rarely shown doing housework (one to three percent compared to twenty to twenty seven percent of women). I kept a tally of each instance that a household chore was done and whether it was a man or woman who took care of the task. The first claim that I analyzed was that women are more likely to use charm and men are more likely to use physical force held true according to my sample. There were three instances of using charm. Hal, the father, did so once. Lois, the mother, did so the other two times. The second
  • 4. Stoker s Treatment Of Women In Dracula Dracula still maintains a strong connection to modern day readers through its similarities to female vampire myths from Europe, many including the male characters dominating the females. The Dearg Due, an Irish vampire, is an example of a creature similar to those in Stoker s novel. According to Kim, an author on Got Ireland, the Dearg Due is a legendary beauty, with blood red lips and pale blonde hair, but before she was turned into a monster, she had been given to a cruel man and suffered terrible mental and physical abuse at the hands of her new husband. As a mortal, she had no influence on her life, and was married off to a abominable man just so her power hungry father could earn some more money and a higher social status. Her life
  • 5. Analysis Of Tobias Wolff s The Bullet Of The Brain Tobias Wolff uses imagery in his short story Bullet in the Brain provides a visual portrait that captures attention. He clarifies in an interview with Sanford University what short stories require, You want large results from it, and you re compelled by its very shortness to using all your resources of language, form and understanding (Schrieberg 1998). He uses language in the story offering instances of imagery to describe the media critic. Anders is portrayed as weary, and elegantly savage in his reviews. In each scene of the story Anders observes and uses biting words to offer his approval or distaste. He uses words to critique events while waiting with the customers at the bank, with the thieves and with the shot starting his recollections. There is a deeper vision into his brain not only with the speeding bullet but incite to words. The use of imagery in the short storyprovides a distorted image of the character Anders, not the real image of a man with the passion for words and the happiness they create. The bank blooms the imagery of Anders. Standing in a long line behind annoying people creates a murderous temper within his brain. His anger builds with the closing of the teller s line, yet does not use his vicious sarcasm to the bank employees it is the customers around him that are witness to his venom. Damned unfair, tragic. If they re not chopping off the wrong leg, or bombing your ancestral village, they re closing their positions (Wolff 1995). The image
  • 6. Research Paper On Materialistic Society Our Materialistic Society The term materialism is known as a philosophy, and also an issue in our society. By definition, materialism is the theory or attitude that physical well being and worldly possessions constitute the greatest good and highest value in life (Khan). This means that our society has a tendency to consider material items or money as more important than our spiritual values. Since youth, children have thought that having more stuff, or better stuff, is happiness. Everyone always wants to buy the latest device, or the newest trends, when they don t really need it. According to DeAngelis, Compared with Americans in 1957, today we own twice as many cars per person, eat out twice as often and enjoy endless other commodities ... In addition, instead of buying the newest things that come out, you can just wait until you need to replace them. If everyone just tried to be less materialistic, we can make our society less focused on things and more on what truly

  • 8. A Street in Marrakech Review Essay To detach from the familiar and to immerse into the unknown is a familiar process to human beings. From leaving a mothers womb to attending college, human beings are constantly confronted with change. However, persistent change does not facilitate the process required to assimilate. In the novel, A Street in Marrakech, Elizabeth Fernea embarks on a journey to Moroccoand is met with resentment and belligerence. Her tale as an outsider, searching for the essence of Marrakech that is concealed to most Westerners, exemplifies immersing oneself into the unknown. Elizabeth Fernea and husband Bob Fernea travel to Marrakech, Morocco because Mr. Fernea receives a scholarship grant to study anthropology in Morocco. From the start of the book, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He defines Orientalism as the pattern of the misrepresentations of the non western world. Said believes that Westerners have the ability to romanticize the East into anything because it is more able to write travel books and accounts, skewing the publics opinions of the East. However, Fernea is far from corroborating Said s argument because she does not hold herself on a higher pedestal than the people of Morocco in any way. She does not romanticize the Middle East by claiming that her travel was a life altering experience, yet she manages to capture the West s understanding of the Middle East through her narrative. This book reminds me a lot of Paul Theroux s Dark Star Safari because it chronicles an Americans experience in the Middle East, yet Paul Theroux lacks the elegance that Fernea displays because he makes the people of Egypt out to be barbaric like Said proves in his theory. For example, in the families visit to the public square Djemaa el Fna, Laila wonders why her mother gives the beggar a coin and Fernea has the opportunity to delineate the way in which the West and the East handle poverty differently. She does so by neither bolstering nor denouncing either culture but by making the differences apparent. As an Indian child born in America, I understand the importance in accurately portraying a culture because absurd notions can be easily formed from the strong convictions of writers.

On the 1st January 1999 the euro was first introduced as a virtual currency. It was originally used as a currency to exchange between countries in the European Union while the countries continued on using their own different currencies for domestic trade. The eurowas introduced in Ireland when the physical euro became the standard currency in Europe three years later on the 1st of January 2002. The single currency makes international trade easier as there is more transparency of prices when there are less currencies to convert between to see where offers the best deal. Buyers from different countries can easily see where they will get the best bargain from because all the prices will be in euro and they won t have to worry about converting prices. A disadvantage of the euro is that traders around the world looking to buy the euro will look at whether to buy euros depending on the national economies of the countries using the euro. So if there are negative reports about a few economies, the euro exchange rate as a whole may fall, despite the economies of all the other member states being okay. The euro promotes trade and investment from global businesses outside the Eurozone which helps boost the European economy. Countries outside the Eurozone find the single currency an attractive quality to have in European countries to outsource their businesses in. Careful economic management within the EU makes the euro an attractive and strong currency. Having a single currency throughout almost all of Europe makes the euro more powerful in the global
  • 10. The Employment Laws Introduction The purpose of this research is to prove that the employment at will doctrine does not protect the employee population in the United States. The fact that if you look at the way the doctrine is written it protects the employers and firms, and this as a result creates discrimination. This in itself creates an unsafe and sometime unstable work environment because of the potential for high turnover, costly training, and low morale amongst employees. There are certain factors that must be considered within the employee at will doctrine such as union protection, the economy, contracting verses employment, discrimination and the economic stance on the United States is currently in. Health and safety training Health and safety training includes the review of responsibilities, the knowledge of policy settings, videos, interaction with OSHA, and review of the surroundings in the workplace. Many factories and organizations in general have gone to great lengths to make employees aware of their surroundings and what they are dealing with every day. The government organization OSHA has implemented rules in posting of all dangerous or non dangerous chemicals and materials in the organization s workplace. The MSDS books and charts have helped instruct employees in the dangers of certain chemicals and how to deal with the handling and cleanup of these dangerous chemicals and materials. The MSDS charts and books let the employees find certain numbers to call to assist them in case of an accident. The training of employees in the use and understanding of where to find these charts and books have been very advantageous. Other standards are also very useful. The ANSI/ASQC have
  • 11. The Goal Of Marketing Strategy The goal of marketing strategy is to increase sales and reach a competitive advantage. It involves careful planning and scanning of internal and external environments. Internal factors are such as performance analysis, market mix, strategic constraints, and market mix modelling. External factors are such as analyzing the competition, evaluation of technological, economic, cultural, and political or legal elements, and target analysis. The twelve years that Charles Tandy reinvented RadioShack, he understood the same criteria. His successors tried to follow his footsteps, but there was a rapid change in technology. After the war, he identified a new area of supply and started sending mail. Few years later after it traded on the New York Stock Exchange, it ventured into an electronic firm. He tried to help it stay afloat by cutting inventories and maintaining merchandise that had high profit margins. Philosophy 2.6 The Philosophy of the firm was to provide electronic devices and accessories and a lower price than larger scale businesses the local greater population. The firm also maintained competitive prices and advertising to attract customers. They increased bonuses based on store revenue percentage to create competitiveness among their workers in various stores. In addition, the store started to design their merchandise and only dealt with private label items in order to eliminate intermediaries. However, with the rapid change of technology RadioShack could not be
  • 12. The Advantages Of Deep Brain Stimulation Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a neurosurgical procedure introduced in 1987. This procedure uses the implantation of a medical device called neurostimulator. A neurostimulator sends electrical impulses, through implanted electrodes, to specific targets in the brain for the treatment of movement and neuropsychiatric (branch of medicine that deals with mental disorders) disorders. DBS in select brain regions has provided therapeutic benefits for disorders such as Parkinson s disease, essential tremor, chronic pain, major depression and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). DBS and its underlying principles and mechanisms are still not clear. DBS directly changes brain activity in a controlled manner, its effects are reversible unlike other techniques, and it is one of only a few neurosurgical methods that allow blinded studies. • 13. Locus Of Control Essay After taking the assessment of the Locus of Control Assessment, my note was 20 /20. It means that external events have no effect on my life. In other words, I can say, for sure, to have an internal locus of control. Those who have the same way to analyze and tend positively, value the effort and personal skill. Those with an internal locus of control tend naturally to accept the responsibility and blame for their failures and selections. According to Monroe and Oliviere (2007), people believe that their behaviors are guiding by their personal choices and efforts unit. This attitude can make you depressed, which I think is negative for an internal locus of control. Decisions made it, must be correct, to ensure that the right thing was carried out. Those who have control of the personal way to look the life, understand, if something is not as planned, may have had something to do wrong reasoning of them. We, with external focus of control, believe that the perception that luck or external forces that are beyond personal control determine their destiny. The training of the Tuskegee Airmen was an essential part of their achievements in the war. [...]Tuskegee Institute was nominated as the citizen contract faculty to accommodate and prepare African American aeronautics cadets and pre flight and primary flight preparation level (Carter). This shows that without the Tuskegee Institute, the Tuskegee Airmenwould not have been trained correctly to fly and fight in the war. The missions that the Tuskegee Airmen had to complete were incredibly difficult. Their primary missions were to escort bombers striking targets in Southern Europe. Davis insisted his men stay close to the bombers they were escorting, rather than peeling off to pursue enemy fighters ( Tuskegee Airmen ). The Tuskegee Airmen were an extraordinarily disciplined group of men and more importantly escorting pilots. They always worried about the task at hand, never about something that they reacted to. The Tuskegee Airmen were a strong minded group of men while they were overseas. The 99th Pursuit, Squadron under the command of Benjamin O. Davis, the first black man to hold the rank of general in the U.S. Army, was unwanted by the commander of the fighter group it was assigned to ( Tuskegee Airmen ). The Tuskegee Airmen and in particular Benjamin O. Davis, persisted and never gave up to live their dream and what they had been fighting for. The Airmen stuck together as a group of team and never let each other down. The Airmen always cared for the task at hand. Perhaps the most spectacular mission flown by the 332nd was on March 24, 1945. One Tuskegee Airmen was lost on the mission, but no U.S. bombers were lost, despite the Germans; pitting their latest and best fighters against the Americans ( The Inspiring And True Story). • 15. The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat Case Study Case SummaryIn the third section of The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat, Oliver Sacks introduces two new patients: Mrs. O C and Mrs. O M. Sacks opens with the case of Mrs. O C. One night, Mrs. O C was dreaming about her childhood in Ireland and the music she would dance and sing to. When she woke up, she was still hearing the same song. At first, she thought that she was remembering her dream, but the song kept playing and it did not go away. As the day continued, she started to fear for her sanity and quickly went to see Dr. Sacks. Sacks performed an EEG test on her and found that whenever Mrs. O C said she was experiencing a musical moment, her temporal lobe was hyperactive. This indicated to Sacks that she was experiencing an epileptic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Seizures stimulated by thinking of music also supported this theory since there is recruitment of musical memory and its associated emotion (Maguire, 2012). Mrs. O C is a good example of this. Mrs. O C only had seizures when thinking about her childhood in Ireland and the specific Irish songs she would sing and dance to. Orphaned at five years old, Mrs. O C moved to America to live with family. These Irish songs caused her to be flooded with memories of her time in Ireland when her mother and father were both alive, a time she had hardly remembered before these musical seizures began (Sacks, 1970). It is also interesting to consider Mrs. O M s case when thinking about emotional connections. Mrs. O M reported no emotional connection to the songs she was hearing, however had been humming them before the seizures began. This seems to indicate that there was some type of emotional connection and that is probably why those specific songs were what played on repeat in her head every time she had a seizure (Sacks, 1970). This emotional connection is thought to be due to synchronized rhythms of electrical activity. When neuronal rhythms are synchronized in specific brain regions, memories are formed more effectively. Responding to a song emotionally is thought the cause neurons to become excited and form these synchronized rhythms which in turn cause the brain to associate seizures with memories of a specific genre/type of music (Swaminathan,
  • 16. Postmodern Deconstructionism In Alice Walker s Everyday Use No matter what age or generation, people live in a world filled with opposition and conflict. Though this sounds harsh and unforgiving, this description is completely and utterly accurate. In society, people run into all sorts of oppositions without realizing it at all. For example, a person could walk into a darkened room and flip on the light without stopping to ponder the conflict between light and dark . These examples in our daily lives drones on and on from the difference between hot and cold water to the difference between your phone when it is on or off. Though these types of oppositions seem mundane to the average person, to a deconstructionist these distinct concepts are imperative in deconstructing a text. When people describe deconstructing a text, they are referring to the postmodern deconstructionism which focuses mainly on these oppositions and the type of relationship they share. When referring to these oppositions, a deconstructionist uses the word binary which can be found in literature of all types and through all sorts of literary interpretations. Alice Walker s Everyday Use is no exception to this concept with its story focusing on lifestyle and heritage differences displayed between the main characters. Though one can interpret Everyday Use as a story presenting the two binary aspects of a traditional, heritage based, yet impoverished lifestyle and an affluent, modern, yet forward thinking lifestyle as completely opposing concepts, one can
  • 17. Comparison Of Cosmos And The Scientific Theory Of Creation A problem I have thought of for a long time and might want to solve one day is how the bible and the scientific theory of the creation of the universe do not match up. All I have really done is read over Genesis a couple of times and watched a few documentaries like Cosmos, but I do have a basic theory worked out. First of all, the bibleis not literal. There is probably someone who was known as Jesuswhich I believe had great influence over the people back then. There might not be a God, but I lean towards the idea that there is, and the universe was not made in 7 days, at least not 7 earth days. To god, an earth day may be a couple of milliseconds. Cosmos describes a calendar with all of time since the beginning of the universe stuffed into... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, the age of mammals has arrived. Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds:the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind. (Gen 1.24) The rest of the wild animals we see today are created over time. This step describes how all the life began to evolve and diversifying as God made each species unique. Then God said, Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. We the humans were made. There was not any lie either when it stated man will rule over livestock and wild animals as that is what the people are doing today. In god s image I believe just means that we have the power to change the world just like god. If it is true then it would not be going against the chance that there are aliens on other planets. The bible describes that on every planet with life, eventually one will rise up to become the ruler of it all as humans have become for the earth. Expandable Finally, the last day was about god resting. He rested and we did not see many of his actions any longer. There might have been a few changes, but god does not do the big things he did when the universe started any more. He only makes small changes now, miracles every now and then. The only big thing might be the description of Jesus coming down to earth as it does take up its own testament. However as god rests, there is less evidence of his power in the universe, and therefore, almost no one has truly seen

Balancing Work Life and Home Life Balancing Work Life and Home Life The purpose of the article is to discuss what organizations can do to adopt more effective management of professional and private life. Organizations need to help employees define the boundaries between home and work. These boundaries should be more flexible than they currently are, the value of transition time between home and work should be recognized, and family should be more consciously included into career and human resource management. What the two authors proposed was a new way of looking at the issue: analysis of the daily transitions both physical and psychological between work and home. They have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Numerous studies have been conducted on work life balance. The conflict is primarily caused by two scenarios. The first being an employee bringing home matters to work, or work matters to home. The second scenario is when work time interferes on home time. Of all the job factors that influence work life conflict, the amount of time spent at work is the strongest and most consistent predictor. The higher levels of work to family conflict reported by managers or professionals often are a function of their longer work hours. Other reasons include: job security, support from one s supervisor, support from co workers, work demands or overload, work role conflict, work role ambiguity, job dissatisfaction, and extensive use of communication technology that blurs the boundaries between home and work. When work and life are imbalanced it will lead to an array of problems. Many employees experience burnout due to overwork and increased stress. This condition ranges from blue collar workers to upper management. Over the past decade, rises in workplace violence, an increase in levels of absenteeism, as well as rising workers compensation claims are all evidence of an unhealthy work life balance. Personal ambitions, the pressure of family obligations, and accelerating pace of technology all play a part to causing this condition. There are several possibilities to provide a balanced work life and learning how to eliminate home and work place stress. An employee

Yet, the discriminations and hate speeches are still a part of our lives that we grow to ignore. Then the question that should be asked is why is racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia etc. are still topics of discussion which can be observed in the book The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin as he talks about being in a part of the black community and the struggles he faces. This question can be answered if the option that people got it all wrong at the very beginning is considered. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to overcome racism or homophobia would it be a better solution to accept other people s right to live as equal to ours or create a distinction between our lives and theirs. Because of these reasons that even though tolerance is a step towards bringing people together it is not as effective as acceptance. Barry Schwartz shows how the toleration is just the beginning by stating that perhaps fifty years ago for Jews in America tolerance was good enough: You don t have to approve of us or even respect us. Just leave us alone, let us use a little corner of your field, and we ll stay out of your way. Even if you don t let us into your prestigious universities and professional schools, as long as you don t bother us, we ll make do. but right now in the world that we are living in minorities demand Who are you to tolerate me? Who are you to say that my way of life is inferior to yours? Who are you to judge? (Schwartz) This points to the fact that for example for black people it is not enough anymore to be let by white people to have the same education, use the same toilets and eat in the same places. Which is an example of toleration. White people after many years learned to tolerate black people s right to be in the same space as they are yet the barrier is still there which can be very easily observed through the Black Lives Matter movement. Movement which arose as a campaign against violence and systemic racism against black people but turned into a way to see how white people turned a blind eye to racism that is still going on with suggesting All Lives Matter and rejected the fact that what black people asked was not more than equality. As we drift further away from the times that slavery was an option, people started to see that it got harder to outwardly hate black people.

  • 22. The Importance Of Righteousness In The Book Of Job Book of Job Job was a righteous man who feared God and upheld divine standards. He abounded in gifts of mercy and acts of godly devotion. Job routinely offered sacrifices to atone for his children s sins. Hence, God was quite pleased to observe as His servant maintained integrity in his dealings (Carney, 2014). The Almighty spoke about Job s godly devotion to Satan the Devil. It was then that the latter questioned Job s motives. In fact, Satan claimed that Job was primarily concerned with selfish interests. The Devil accused God of providing inordinate protection to his servant. In this regard, the Almighty was presumed to have bribed Job. God saw it fit to allow Satan to bring trials upon Job to test the patriarch s motives (Carney, 2014). In this essay, I will highlight the significance of righteousness in the debates between Job and his friends. Job s debate with his friends was precipitated by the former s determination to uphold righteous standards. Notably, Job experienced tremendous tribulations due to Satan s efforts. His 10 children died while his livestock was killed. Job s servants also died under mysterious circumstances. Unfortunately, his wife deserted and mocked him for his faith in God. In fact, she taunted him to curse God and die. Nevertheless, these events could not break Job s integrity. Satan was determined to intensify his physical attacks on Job. The patriarch was struck with a debilitating illness that subjected him to constant pain (Carney, 2014).

Television Cultures Television Cultures Reflective posts Part one: Dead set 2008 The week one screening of film Dead Set, a horror drama film created by Charlie Brooker and directed by Yann De mange chronicles a nightmare scenario in which Britain is taken over by Zombies. It is essentially a spoof on reality television that depicts both the inside and outside worlds of the UK s version of Big Brother. The film explores the parallels between zombies and contemporary reality television. Zombies represent the darker side of human nature (Gadsby, 2011), coinciding with the idea that reality television has the power to destruct and generate conceptions that construct the way society thinks. Brookers film looks at the power of media influence. It reflects the ideology of the modern day society, where people have become to consumed in media and just like zombies have their minds set on one thing. This can follow the idea of the Hypodermic Needle Theory, established by Harold Lasswell in 1920s, which assumes audiences are passive, and homogenous. The theory assumes that the media s message is a bullet fired from the media gun into the viewers head (Berger, 1995). Furthermore, the worlds bullet and needle are used to show the powerlessness of the audience as media impacts public opinion and behaviour change. Booker examines the history of reality TV and wants audiences to consider the capacity of humankind to consume itself via the media s obsession with representing back to us the

Yet, humans, as developed and advanced as they may seem, go out of their way to prevent themselves from doing just that. The short story Apology , by Brad Watson conveys this message through a depressing narrative. In it, is a letter, or set of letters written to his supposed ex wife whom one can surmise has left him. This is a reaction to the main characters drunken actions throughout their married life. In addition, Watson displays this sympathetic message through metaphorical and anecdotal means, describing the town in which he has escaped to, experiences in nature, and past memories of his wife and child. Through these heartfelt writings, one can surmise that the main character wants to explore the stubbornness of human naturethrough his own experiences. In doing so, using themes of self loathing, nostalgia, alcoholism, depression and more. The setting is one that may cause confusion to many, never being officially introduced with a name. It can be imagined as the high southwestern plains. He describes, Pronghorn, jackrabbit, horses, crows. Trains, clouds, the occasional car. You rarely see people if you don t go downtown (Watson 85). Although Return of the Jedi is set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away it is still deemed futuristic, due to the use and constant development of advanced technology throughout the Star Wars series, all star wars movies are deemed as futuristic. • 41. Importance Of 21st Century Teaching And Learning 21st Century teaching and learning is about transforming educational practices to equip students with the skills and know how they will need to navigate life in the 21st century. Bolstad, Gilbert, McDowell, Bull, Boyd and Hopkins argue that 21st century learning and teaching can be considered as an emerging cluster of new ideas, beliefs, knowledge, theories and practices (Bolstad et. al., 2012, p. 1). In the Industrial age of thinking the educationsystem was modelled on a factory assembly line and the role of the educator was to prepare students for the industrial workforce. However, we are now living in the age coined the Knowledge era, where new information is rapidly being created every day and job markets are shifting and expanding; the top jobs in 2012, didn t exist in 2002 (EF Explore America, 2012). Because society is undergoing change at an alarming rate creating new ideas, beliefs, knowledge, theories and practices, the role of education is becoming unclear. Leaders across the globe are calling for students to have more sophisticated skills such as evaluating and analysing information and thinking critically and creatively to solve real world problems (Silva, 2008). Therefore, 21st centurylearningmethods are child centred and have a focus on innovation, collaboration, exploration, cultural awareness, creativity and problem solving, so that children will be ready for the future and whatever it may bring. Traditional education was modelled on the industrial age
  • 42. Canadian Literature in Grade 12 Change is a critical part of life. It is evident all around us, especially in the things we learn. The knowledge available to us in the modern day is dynamic; it is constantly changing, developing, and providing new points of view. Science and mathematics curriculums in Ontario high school reflect the evolution of knowledge; they are edited and adjusted regularly to accommodate new material that should be presented to students. Shouldn t other subject curriculums, specifically English, be just as dynamic? It often feels like English curriculums in Ontario high schools are static; the same books are studied by class after class, generation after generation. The time has come for change. Ontario students should be exposed to new literature, particularly Canadian literature. Students need this exposure to Canadian literature to become more familiar with the literature of their country; through literature, we are able to focus on our Canadian culture while being surrounded by other cultures, we promote new, younger authors, and we become aware of the mosaic that is Canadian culture. Exposing high schoolstudents in Ontario to more Canadian literature would allow them to develop a deeper appreciation for the Canadian culture, especially when they are surrounded by other cultural influences. Incorporating Canadian culture more extensively would create a learning environment where Canadian culture is studied in depth, allowing students to appreciate its variety and complexity.

Although I will analyze each of his principles, my intention is not to regurgitate what you already learned from studying them, but rather to prove my thesis correct that they are still relevant. Throughout, I will remain on topic by identifying the pros and cons where they exist. The potential negative side exists if her subordinates lose trust in her directives, either as a result of leadership failure (real or perceived), or from making consistently wrong decisions. Discipline: Every significant corporation assumes disciplinary measures for unethical behavior or insubordination. Without rules and consequence, chaos would ensue. It positively illuminates conduct management expects from their subordinates by clearly defining the repercussions for non compliance. However, if the fear of discipline creates a culture of fear, it has the capacity to severely hinder an employee s willingness to take appropriate risks. Discipline needs be in meticulous alignment with the behavior it serves to reinforce without stifling creativity. Unity of Command: This remains a poignant principle in many businesses today. The positive attribution to applying this leadership principle, is it ensures the clarity of employee expectations and directive intention. Too many direct reports can introduce unnecessary confusion and conflict. However it may not be possible to apply to all business relationships, such as if the employee s duties are so technically diverse or

  • 49. Headless Horseman Character Analysis Many connections to famous books or movies can be made to the Headless Horseman or the Heissan as he is referred to many times in the original Sleepy Hollow . The Headless Horseman has a few key traits: engimatic, supernatural, and terror raising/feared. Only a few have ever come face to face with the Horseman, the nemesis of Ichabod Crane (main character) Brom Van Brunt has a supposed run in with the horseman and lives to tell the tale, while the village elders go off of stories. When his name is spoken townsfolk quiver at the stories and terror brought about by the mistery of the supernatural. This horseman is no ordinary horseman, he frightens the whole town, patrolling the church grounds where he is supposedly buried, he makes quick work of anyone who dares go near.... While the Heissan has one personality, not the same can be said about Jason: Jason developed a second personality. While Jason was a scared, lonely little boy, this other self, which I will call The Mask for simplicity s sake, was a more assertive, aggressive individual, fearless in the face of any hardship or opponent. When Jason put The Mask on, he wasn t a little boy any more. He was someone strong, someone powerful, not only capable of surviving, but thriving in the wilderness surrounding Camp Crystal Lake. (Bloodsprayer psychology behind Jason) When he goes into his innocent personality, Jason becomes a lot more clumsy and not as well formed as his other half. In conclusion, the Headless Horseman can be compared to many movie and book villains, mostly the killers of the pop
