Essays On Human Nature
Exploring the intricacies of human nature in an essay can be an intellectually challenging
endeavor. The vast and complex nature of human behavior, emotions, and cognition requires a
comprehensive understanding of psychology, philosophy, sociology, and even biology.
Attempting to encapsulate the essence of what it means to be human within the confines of an
essay poses a considerable difficulty, as the subject matter spans a broad spectrum of theories,
perspectives, and cultural influences.
One of the primary challenges lies in navigating the multitude of theories proposed by renowned
thinkers throughout history. From the philosophical musings of Aristotle and Rousseau to the
psychological insights of Freud and Maslow, synthesizing diverse perspectives while maintaining
coherence is no small feat. Moreover, the ever-evolving nature of human understanding and
societal norms adds another layer of complexity. What was considered inherent human nature
centuries ago might be perceived differently in the light of contemporary knowledge and cultural
shifts.
The difficulty also stems from the need to strike a balance between depth and accessibility.
Delving too deeply into academic jargon may alienate a general audience, while oversimplifying
the concepts risks sacrificing the richness and nuance that characterize discussions on human
nature. Crafting a compelling narrative that engages readers while conveying the profound
aspects of human existence is, therefore, a delicate balancing act.
Furthermore, the personal and subjective nature of human experience adds an additional layer of
complexity. Essays on human nature often require a thoughtful exploration of individual
perspectives, cultural influences, and the interplay between nature and nurture. Incorporating
personal reflections and anecdotal evidence without losing the essay's academic rigor can be a
challenging tightrope walk.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of human nature demands a meticulous blend of
interdisciplinary research, critical thinking, and effective communication. It necessitates
navigating the vast sea of theories, acknowledging the dynamic nature of the subject, and
delicately balancing depth with accessibility. While challenging, the process offers an
opportunity for intellectual growth and a deeper understanding of the profound complexities that
define our human essence.

Advantages Of The CAPM Assumption
CAPM Assumptions
The CAPM is often criticized for being unrealistic because of the assumptions on
which it is based, so it is important to be aware of these assumptions and the reasons
for criticizing.
The assumptions are the following
пѓ Investors with diversified portfolios
This assumption implies that investors only require a change in the systematic risk of
their portfolios, since unsystematic risk has been removed and can be ignored.
Single period horizon transaction
A standard maintenance period is assumed by the CAPM for comparable yields
different values. One more than six months, for example, can not be compared with
a yield of more than 12 months. A holding period of one year is generally used.
Investors can borrow and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the business risk of the investment project is different from the organization of
investment, the CAPM can be used to calculate a rate discount for a specific project.
The procedure for this calculation was covered in the second article of this series
(specific discount rates project, Student Accountant, April 2008).
The advantage of using a CAPM project Derivatives specific rate of discount is
illustrated in Figure 2 Using the CAPM will lead to better investment decisions than
the use of the WACC in the two shaded areas, which can be represented by the
projects A and B.
Project A would be rejected if WACC was used as discount rate, because the
internal rate of return (IRR) of the project is less than the WACC. This investment
decision is not correct, however, since the project A would be accepted if a CAPM
the discount rate derived for specific projects is used because the project IRR is
above the SML. The project offers a larger than necessary to compensate for the level
of systematic risk, and accept that it will increase shareholder wealth

She delves into hope and why we need it. God has a plan for the effects of our
hurting and hurtful lives, the effects that we would prefer to have Him remove.
(2001, pg.235) She leads the reader back to God, who is the healer of all things and
this is where our hope originates from. By showing the reader even in the midst of
all of our imperfections, wounds, and hurts He is there with and everlasting love
and ability to heal. Of all hopes this is the greatest: the promise of God s
everlasting love. He plasters that promise from one end of His Word to the other.
We come bruised, broken and bound. Jesus comes healing, mending, and releasing.

By showing how people are hurt through childhood, self inflicted hurts, and unseen
wounds she paints a picture of why and how we now have a new generation of hurt
people. Wilson goes further to give some solutions as to how to heal these hurt
people. I believe Dr. Wilson did achieve her intended purpose to demonstrate why
hurt people hurt people. It sounds like a clichГ©, but it was very true. Her
argument was logical and well supported by her examples and statistical data. This
book taught how to look below the surface of hurt people. By examining closer the
reasons behind the wounds we are able to see how we can
Campus Budget Cuts
By increasing the maximum work hours, students will get the opportunity to save
reasonable amount of money at the end of the month. It will enhance the quality of
students life, and provide them enough hours to balance working positions. As an
example, when the college cut hours, a student can manage two jobs and get the total
amount without any rejection from employers. However, still the government should
reinforce policies on campus budget cut and establish sufficient funds to maintain the
possible working hours. Allowing students to work off campus will be one of the best
solutions. Student will get more employment choices, and enough job satisfaction.
Wasting time in long waiting lists, getting into uninterested summer jobs, and
competing with colleagues will disappear under this circumstance. Students will
enjoy their summer, gathering experience in positions they are interested, while
getting enough working hours. At the end of the summer they will earn reasonable

They will get paid with actual salary amounts in the field, when they are ready to
embrace it. If US companies take more action to contribute skillful foreign employees
to the enhancement of their economy, these proposed solutions should not be
neglected. According to economic professor, Robert Reich, skillful international
workers contribution is essential for the American economy, as the aged American
population is increasing rapidly. One of economic articles determined that
international students and their families contribute $24 billion to the US economy
and create or support 313,000 jobs. Thus, in one way international academic students
deserve the opportunity to seek and gain more employment prospect to the field, and

Satire On Animals
What comes to mind when you hear the word animal ? Your brain tends to
automatically think of something furry, something with feathers, or maybe even
something slimy with scales. That s what generally comes to mind. However, do you
think of a life or a beating heart? Do you think about them ever fighting for survival?
Take a moment to think about the word animal. Animals are not stuffed toys you find
at the toy store. They are delicate living, breathing creatures that were given a life just
as humans were. Their lives shouldn t be taken away because of neglect,
entertainment, or designer merchandise. They have to fight for survival against
humans when we should be the ones cherishing them. Animal Cruelty is a growing
problem in today s society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Society must research to improve the economy and the products we use in our
everyday lives. There aren t any concerns until something has to suffer. Companies
claim they test on animals for the safety of humans, but valuing one life over
another isn t the route to take to create a better product. The main candidates
suffering are monkeys, dogs, rats, and mice. The major problem is that these
animals are suffering a traumatizing experience. These poor animals are enduring
hair loss, burns, rashes, and gashes in their skin and all over their bodies. Some
scientists even go as far as injecting metal wires and rods inside their skulls.
However, the researchers justify the experimentation with it s for science . Of course
there are brands out on the market that produce great selling products without testing
on animals. No one deserves that kind of treatment whether it s claimed to prevent
harm to humans or not, it s already been proven that animal testing is not a necessity
in order to create and improve a product. Put yourself in their shoes. You wouldn t
want your pet being put in harm s way, traumatized with chemicals and unknown
substances; how would you react

The Indian Direct Taxation Regime Essay
I.INTRODUCTION
Albert Einstein once remarked that the hardest thing in the world is to understand
Income tax laws. The Indian Direct taxation regime has been described as the most
complex web of laws, rules, regulations which are extremely difficult to interpret and
even more difficult to implement and adhere to. This has led to increased litigation,
loss of revenue and slowed economic growth along with an unpredictable, complex
and difficult taxation regime in India.
Various governmental committees, eminent lawyers and world famous economists
have advocated the idea of phasing out deductions, exemptions and incentives
provided under the Income tax laws in India viz. a viz. a reduction in the corporate tax
. The reasons behind such a measure range from simplifying the complex nature of
the Income tax regime in India to reduce the cost of collection of tax and to ensure a
low level of corporate tax.
MAT or minimum alternative tax is imposed to ensure that profit making entities do
not take undue advantage of the deductions, exemptions and incentives accorded to
them under the IT Act, 1961 and substantially reduce their tax liability.
Clearly, the above ideas are in conflict with each other in that the former talks about
phasing out deductions, exemptions or other incentives to ensure a simplified
taxation regime while the latter talks about imposing a complex type of tax to ensure
that the entities do not take undue advantage of the deduction, exemptions and
incentives.

What Is The Role Of Entertainment In The 1950-1960 s
Oral History Sound Recording was one of the first entertainment programs
implemented to the public in the 1950 1960 s. Before there was sound recording
people only listened to the radio. The radio played live music, shows and stories.
This wave of entertainment was done through radio. Radio gave most individuals
in this time a connection to many artist and actors across the world. As radio
became more wide spread the invention of the television became another source of
connection around the world. People were not only able to imagine, they were
able to now put a visual connection to the artist and actors. This bring more reality
to what the people had already visualized through radio in the early 1950 1960 s.
Television paved a way for out of the home entertainment as well, movies and films
were now the biggest used of entertainment out of the home. People were able to
leave their homes and travel to different cinemas and theaters to watch movies and
films that were not available on regular TV s. This also became a huge... Show more

happiness for each other. Eddie Hardwick says, Some of the records he listen to
was based on music categories from Rock and Roll/Disco. This popularity of
certain type of music in the 1950 1960 s in Pittsburgh, Pa. gave individuals vocal
freedom to sing like the artist over the radio. It was very influential in how people
interact with each other and the way people treated others. One thing Eddie said
was that, it bring family and friends together, for a time period where nothing
matter but each other. Some of his favorite music artist were The Drifters, Sky
Liners and Sam Cook. These groups sung a lot of love songs. This implemented a
great way of thinking in a positive manner towards women and men. Men were able

Princess Diana Rhetorical Analysis or Reports Essay

Upon Princess Diana s Death Princess Diana of Wales was killed in a car accident
in Paris, France in 1997. She was divorced from England s Prince Charles and a
mother to Princes William and Harry. In her life, she was known for her
philanthropy and her marriage with the Prince. The accident was known around the
world and many newspapers and news programs wrote articles about the late
Princess s death. The Queen of England and Princess Diana s brother Lord Spencer
spoke about the Princess in a televised speech and her eulogy at the funeral service.

The speaker is Queen Elizabeth, the audience is anyone watching the televised
speech, and the subject is the remembrance of Diana. The intent of the Queens
speech is to pay tribute to late Diana and also thank everyone for the flowers,
messages, and respects paid to Diana. I believe that the speech was rhetorically
effective because of the emotion that the speaker conveys. Logos is established
because we know that the speaker is the Queen of England. However, pathos is the
most common in this speech. The Queen is distressed about the death of a family
member, and it shows in her speech. The speech is written in a sweet style.
Examples of this are So what I say to you now, as your queen and as a grandmother,
I say from my heart. , and, I share in your determination to cherish her memory.
Diana s brother, Earl Spencer, gave a eulogy for her on September 6, 1997. In the
eulogy he speaks of how much Diana meant to the people of not only England, but
also the people of the world. Within the speech, the Earl becomes passionate about
his sister and the things that she did during her life. One example that he gave was
that on her birthday, she did not celebrate the day but instead was the guest of honor
at a charity fundraising event. The speaker is Earl Spencer, the brother of the late
Princess. The audience is all of the people who are
Animal Farm Old Major Analysis
Old Major is a twelve year old boar with a wise and benevolent appearance. He feels
that it is his duty to pass on his wisdom to the other animals before he dies. Old
Major is the speaker of a speech he makes in the novel Animal Farm. In his speech
he argued the idea that men are the enemies of the animals. Old Major s purpose is
to convey the idea that the only way for the animalsto get justice is to form a
rebellion. Old Major adopts a serious tone in order to convince the animals that the
only way to get justice from the enemies is to rebel against them.
Old Major begins his speech by recognizing that before he dies his job is to pass on
his wisdom into the other animals in the farm. To prove that he has qualifications in
saying this, he states, I have had much time for thought as I lay alone in my stall (5).
He says this in order to prove that he has had many hours to think and put his
thoughts in order. This sharing of emotion creates a serious tone that elaborates
how the animals need to receive this wisdom before Old Major is no longer with
them. Old Major, the speaker, of a speech made in the novel Animal Farm believes
that before his death, his comrades need to obtain his knowledge on the nature of life.
Furthermore, Old Major shifts his topic in the middle of the speech by claiming that
men are the enemies of the animals. He argues that humans are evil when he states,
Why then do we continue in this miserable condition? Because nearly the whole of the
The Prince And Discourse On Livy
In his famous works, The Prince and Discourse on Livy, Machiavelli meticulously
discusses the importance of religion in the formation and maintaining a political
order. Machiavelli regards religion as a political tool used by political elites for
political purposes. He argues that the appearance of religionis good while the practice
of it is harmful. One of the memorable passage from the Prince that supports
Machiavelli s claim is when he advices the prince to not to be good, and the prince
should cultivate the appearance of the religion if he wants to maintain his state. The
prince, he writes, should appear all mercy, all faith, all honesty, all human, all
religion he adds and nothing is more necessary to have than this last quality (The
Prince, 70). Here, Machiavelli argues, in order for the prince to maintain his state, it
is necessary for the prince to go to the source of morality and by this he means
religion. Thus, Machiavelli view on religion is nothing but a necessary tool for
maintaining a political authority.
Furthermore, Machiavelli stresses the importance of the religion as a political mean
to control and govern the masses. In the Discourse on Livy, Machiavelli uses the
example of how Numa the founder of Roman religion, manipulates the Roman
people by using religion to maintain order and peace. Machiavelli praises the
wisdom of Numa for inventing a religion to control a very ferocious Romans. In
praising Numa, Machiavelli writes: As he found a very
Islamic Revolution And The Iranian Revolution
Islamic Revolution Islamic Revolution, better known as the Iranian Revolution of
1979 holds immense importance in the history of Iran. It was a revolution that shook
the world and lead to rearrangements of the global alliances. The Iranian Revolution
saw the overthrow of the Pahlavi dynasty governed under the Mohammad Reza Shah
Pahlavi, who was supported by the United States of America showing his inclination
towards modernization and secularizing the country. The revolution was led by
Ayatollah Khomeini who later replaced Reza Shah and his dynasty with an Islamic
Republic State.
Based on the Iranian ideology which challenged the notion of westernization, a basis
of Reza Shah s reign the main idea was to eliminate the western culture from the
Islamic, state considered as a toxic or plague that needed to be removed. Khomeini
preached his followers that martyrdom and revolt against unjust and tyrant rulers is
the basic element of Shia Islam. He led the Muslims of Iran to a firm standing that
there should be no influence of liberal capitalism or communism on the teaching and
following of Islam. Hence, it resulted in to the revolutionary slogan of Neither East,
nor West Islamic Republic! . The thought of modernizing the basic practices and
culture of Islam was impossible for the Iranian to cope up with hence it led to
instability and immense dissent among the people.
The Islamic religion was a word coined to the Iranian revolution because it was so

Tuesdays With Morrie Rhetorical Analysis
We can leave the mountain anytime we want but those with ALS are prisoners in
their own body Alex Williams. People with ALS start losing their ability to move
as the disease goes through their body. In the Book Tuesdays with Morrie by
Mitch Albom Morrie Schwartz has ALS and he tries to give away all of his
wisdom before he dies. Morrie teaches people to live life through showing love to
family, not hiding or being scared of aging and accepting that Deathis natural. The
first lesson Morrie teaches is that showing love to family is most important.
Morrie says the family is the main foundation and we should love them because we
never know when we could lose them. A wise quote from Morrie that proves we
should show love for family is The fact is, there is no foundation, no secure
ground, upon which people my stand today if it isn t the family (Albom 91). I
agree with Morrie that family is the main foundation in life. Family will always
help each other out any way possible so it is important to love family members. An
example from my life is there was this one time I needed money for something I
needed and I didn t have no money. So then my uncle ended up helping me out
because it was important and family helps each other out when in need. The
second lesson Morrie teaches is that don t be scared of aging, it is a natural thing.
Morrie accepts aging because he is at that point in his life that he needs help
moving around because he can t do it by himself especially with ALS. A wise
Quote from Morrie that proves not to be afraid of aging is Its very simple. As you
grow, you learn more. If you stayed at twenty two, you d always be as ignorant as
you were at twenty two. Aging is not just decay, you know. Its growth. It s more
than the negative that you re going to die, it s also the positive that you understand
you re going to die, and that you live a better life because of it (Albom 118). I agree
with Morrie as a person gets older, they get wiser from experience that they learned
over the years. I am not afraid of aging I learned How to accept it as a natural thing
that everybody goes through. I noticed that I have gotten taller, stronger and I have
noticed my deeper voice it s all a part of growing up. one
Dominican Republic Compare And Contrast
There are two sides to every story. For the Dominican Republic, they are two very
contrasting stories. One being the serene, white beaches where a person s every
need can be waited upon. The other side is where a person s most basic needs
cannot even be met. A story where a child has to worry about if they will even eat
tonight. Now, the majority of people would avoid the latter story. Not my mom,
she dives right into the middle of it. My mom grew up in small town, Illinois with
hopes of being a veterinarian. Growing up on a farm, she always learned to work
hard to get something. That lesson is what got her to where she is now. In college,
she changed course to become a doctor. Even through all the hardships and prejudice
of women doctors, she came out on top. Now, most of what she does is give back....

The 1918 Pandemic Analysis
The 1918 pandemic instilled the notion that influenza was closely associated with
war, with some scientists even explicitly referring to it as a war disease, because of
the considerable impact it had on armed services personnel. Government officials
convinced that influenza would appear with the outbreak of World War II, established
the Commission on Influenzaof the United States Army Epidemiological Board to
provide technical advice and commence work on an effective vaccine. The heightened
political attention to the threat of infectious diseases prompted the passage of new
legislation that grants governments extended powers intervention (and ownership) by
central governments in health care services, and resulted in millions of dollars worth

The Role Of Immigrants In Animal Crackers And Annie
Hall
The role of the immigrant as an American cultural figure cannot be understated, and
the cultural values associated with immigrant versus non immigrant Jews in
particular are primarily class values. However, even once assimilated and wealthy,
upper class Jews face a difficult situational dichotomy: Whether to join the high
minded literati (a category that Jews helped shape in America) or the more vulgar
entrepreneurial class. The anxieties associated with Jewish history complicate this
choice, and its consequences are echoed in many films, including Animal Crackers
and Annie Hall. Perhaps the dichotomy between the high minded wealthy Jew and
the vulgar wealthy Jew can be most clearly seen by looking at Jack and Harry
Warner. As profiled in Gabler s Between the Old Life and the New, Harry Warner
was a devoted family man, lived a quiet life... a stern moralist who would
eventually assume the role of moral adjudicator to his entire family. He was also a
more observant Jew, and less religiously assimilated. Jack, meanwhile, was a
veteran provocateur who incited everyone, regarded as a frustrated comedian who
liked nothing better than telling very bad jokes in a loud voice, and seemed to
enjoy creating embarrassment. He also repeatedly refused any religious
instruction. In some sense, Jack could be seen as assimilated while Harry could be
seen as defiantly Jewish. But it would be just as easy to paint the opposite picture:
Despite their religious differences, Harry put effort into coming across as a member
of high society, while Jack intentionally resisted and even opposed those norms.
Harry would often have to apologize for Jack, claiming he didn t have the advantages
of such a good education. Here, we see the beginning of the high minded/vulgar
dichotomy that would continue to separate wealthy Jews for the next century. The
Marx BrothersAnimal Crackers shows that this trope was already recognized in the
culture, and plays with the trope intentionally. When we first see Groucho Marx, he is
playing the role of Captain Spaulding, a rich adventurer returned from Africa. It s
never quite clear, in the film, to what extent Groucho is pretending to be Spaulding,
and to what extent he actually
How Is Mark Osborne More Essay
Belonging is defined as the feeling of security and support when there is a sense of
understanding, inclusion and identity to a member trying to fit into a certain group
and place. It is a perception of acceptance.

The line: Bottling set.. Never unpacked reflects a fatalistic acceptance of instability

This poem is relatable to Skrzynecki s Migrant Hostel , mainly due to the instability

Frequently, such background makes an easy excuse to grant them the big payment
and freedom to have the life they have never experienced without knowing it is the
most enjoyable path to destruction. Let s take Ronaldinho as example. Just when he

admiration, luxury, and elite life were beyond his childhood imagination. Then the
downfall began. He was tempted to attend flickering night life, spending money
without worry of starving at next day, and other luxuries he couldn t afford back

money pours into his account like torrential rain, an amount which he has never seen

experience; overpaid salary is not an excuse to allow footballer earns such big money.

If we talk about the invidual with big revenue, the field which pops out of our
mind is athlete and entertainment. Movie star and singer earn more money than
any athlete in the world but that is where the logic is distorted once again. The
celebrity could still earn money through advanced years while the case isn t the

How Has Music Evolved During The Middle Ages
From the ninth century up to the end of the eighteenth century Western music has
grown from serious liturgy church music to a more enlightened and complex yet
simple to the listener forms. There are four periods of music during this span of
time that will be discussed, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance era, the Baroque era,
and the Classical era that will describe how musichas evolved during these time
periods. During the earlier Middle Ages(around the ninth century) music was
controlled by the Christian church. The music that the Catholic Church sponsored
was the chanting of words from sacred writings of the service that was being

Lowering the Drinking Age Appears to be Best Solution
Essay
Lowering the Drinking Age Appears to be Best Solution Despite offering many
solutions to the ongoing problem of underage drinking, there seems to be no
chance for a law to pass that will lower the drinking age. Pete Coors of Coors
Brewing Co. ran for senator in the Colorado election and campaigned that he was not
pushing to lower the drinking age, however many of his quotes are not consistent
with this point of view. No matter what the ultimate decision is for the drinking age,
fake IDs and parents who condone drinking are going to cancel out any legitimacy for
this law to work. Furthermore there are many drugs in testing now that may perhaps
eliminate any of the dangers that are common with drinking. Due to liquor companies

Salazar doesn t give a specific number of accidents caused by minors, but more a
broad and obvious statement that underage drinking leads to deaths. The fact of
the matter is that as long as there is a rule to be broken, kids are going to break it.
That seems to be a common trend of teens, they won t let them do it, well then they
ll find a way to do it anyways. This leads into an article from CNN.com which
recalls all of the ways in which teens purchase and consume alcohol. The first of
these methods are high quality fake IDs. Not only can people make high quality
IDs, but they are quite easy to get a hold of as well. The second thing bringing
down the drinking age law, are parents who are willing to allow their children to
consume alcohol, as long as they do not drink and drive. A representative from
Mothers Against Drunk Driving released a statement saying, We have to stop
sending mixed messages to our kids by downplaying the dangers of alcohol use by
our youth. Yet, people are wondering if it is safer to allow kids to drink in their
homes, rather than them sneaking around either in parks or parentless houses, where
there is a greater chance of them getting caught by an authority figure. Despite the
greatest efforts of law enforcement and parent formed organizations to deter children
from drinking, kids are still drinking, and at an earlier age. According to CNN.com
underage drinking is now beginning in
The Integration Of Public Art
The integration of public art in urban cities has long been a beneficial tool in
modifying the way urban life is lived. Art has the power to provoke thought and
change, spark controversy, and even prevent crime. Philadelphia has exemplified the
dominance of art in an urban city through murals, statues, and various other forms of
art. The matter in which these works of art are placed throughout the citycontributes
greatly to the reception by the public. The presence of artwork in various places
gives a neighborhood a welcoming appearance of upkeep and order. A notable
example is the works of Isaiah Zagar, who created the PhiladelphiaMagic Gardens and
various murals that plaster South Street and surrounding neighborhoods. The
presence of intricate murals makes the neighborhood an inviting place to be, and it
doubles as a device for warding off the occurrence of crime. The bond between urban
art and its success is highly dependent on location, which ultimately determines the
functionality and interpretation that the public has on the artwork. Philadelphia
Magic Gardens on South Street has become a staple of South Philadelphia that has
benefited the area and its inhabitants for years. The plot consists of walls of mosaic
glass, bottles, mirrors, spokes, and various discarded material that is constructed
beautifully to capture the attention of the viewer. The mission statement of the
organization (PMG) states that, PMG inspires creativity and community engagement

Social media can cross boundaries between personal and professional lives.
Therefore, crossing boundaries can result in breaking ethical codes. Accepting
friend requests, and following each other on social media is not appropriate.
Counselors need to make sure they inform their clients about the policies of social
media any requests for friendship, business contacts, direct or @replies, blog
responses or requests for a blog response within social media sites will be ignored
and addressed subsequently in treatment, to preserve the integrity of the therapeutic

Logos Of Dr Pepper Ad
Abstract The Dr. Pepper TEN advertisement is selling a new low calorie version of
Dr. Pepper that appeals to men. A diet soda has traditionally been viewed as a drink
for females as they are constantly focused on weight loss. Dr. Pepper has launched
a campaign to make low calorie soda masculine with the manly design and
expressive slogan It s not for women that sounds very persuasive. The commercial
portrays two manly men in the masculine environment driving on an all terrain
vehicle in the jungle, battling snakes and shooting lasers to each other. The main

The most common ones are logos, pathos and ethos. Logos refers to reasoning or
logic, in other words, the reasons why the audience should buy the product [1]. In
this advertisement the logical reason to buy the product is drink Dr. Pepper TEN
and you will be a manly men. The only logical information is the number of
calories and flavours in Dr. Pepper TEN. To stress that the soda is not a diet one
and still has calories, both Ten and 10 are mentioned. Pathos appeals to the audience
s emotions [1]. This commercial, as any other one, is full of pathos trying to sell
masculinity . The language used in the advertisement attempts to trigger emotions in
younger males telling them that they will feel manly if they drink this soda. Capital
letters of the tagline and the word women , which is highlighted, intensify the
enthusiasm in an attempt to attack its audience emotionally. The can containing Dr.
Pepper logotype also visually appeals to men. The design, colours and font are
plain and simple. Ethos denotes credibility of the author and relies on its reputation

In this commercial there is no other ethos than just Dr. Pepper by itself that is
successful and popular brand. The whole advertisement is viewed more like a joke

India And The Birth Of Khalsa
Background: India and the Birth of Khalsa India is a vast country with rich and
varied heritage. In this unique country live followers of several religions, such as
Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Jainism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism and Sikhism. At
the time of the birth of Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikhreligion, India was being
ruled by Muslim kings. In their desire to control the population of India, these
kings resorted to oppressive tactics to convert all non Muslims to Islam. They
imposed several religious taxes and expressed blatant disrespect for places of
worship that did not coincide with their own, among other tactics. However, they
were not alone in doing so. The Hindu pundits and Brahmins also turned to
unorthodox practices by exploiting the people and forcing them to participate in
expensive ceremonies and rituals. Both Hinduism and Islam were being corrupted
by the greedy tendencies of those considered religious authorities . Guru Nanak
was born in a Hindu family and retained an interest in religion. His desire to explore
beyond what had been given to him led him to leave home and embark on a
journey of sorts. At the age of 28, Guru Nanak went to a river to bathe and meditate
and returned three days later, filled with the spirit of God. He proclaimed that there
is no Hindu and no Muslim, and upon this he began his work as a missionary and the
Sikh religion was born.
Founded in 1469 A.D. by Guru Nanak, Sikhism is the youngest of the world religions

Erich Fromm’s The Art of Loving Essay
Erich Fromm s The Art of Loving
Upon reading Erich Fromm s The Art of Loving, I gained a better understanding of
what love really is. Fromm s book puts love into perspective. He begins with
several facts with regards to the attitude in which people treat love. They are the
problems of how to be loved, the object to love as well as the confusion between the
initial experience of falling in love and the permanent state of being in love, which
had a great impact on me, as far as thinking about what love is.
Strangers meet, they break down social walls between one another, and they feel
close, as one. They supposedly fell in love with one another, to Fromm, falling in
love is not love, it s more infatuation. Fromm describes ... Show more content on

Fromm asserts that love is an art, and says that to truly love, in all it s forms, you
must possess Maturity, self knowledge; and Courage.
Many people pursue objects of affection, or objects of love, and treat them as
possessions. Fromm states that love is the ability to love in different forms, brotherly
love, romantic love, motherly love etc. Since Fromm says that love is an art to be
practiced, it can only be practiced in freedom with one another. You can not treat
others as objects or possessions for your own egotistical or selfish purposes because
this behavior will only result in destruction and you will never mow or attain true
love.
Erikson s psychosocial stages of development states that in order to find intimacy
and know who you are, you must resolve your conflict in the Identity vs. Role
Confusion Stage. Some individuals who never find true love can be thought of as
not having successfully completed the stage. They never resolved their conflict
thereby resulting in role confusion. Fromm states that in order to love, you must
have self love. How can you love yourself, if you don t know who you are? This is
what I feel creates the possessive love, the hurtful love, and the love that is taken for
granted. It s the one nightstand; I ll call you love.
Fromm describes what he calls the essential components that need to be mastered for
all forms of love: Care, the active concern for the life and growth of that which we
love.
Should Governments Be Able To Regulate The Internet
Should Governments be Able to Regulate the Internet
The internet is a popular place around the globe, and on there, there is a lot of data
circulating around. This data contains many things including, messages, personal
information, and even credit card numbers, but what does the government want with
this data? Federal governments are constantly looking for new ways to control the
people, and what better way than to regulate something than to use the internet, a
platform that almost everyone has access to? But isn t the internet a place where
you can be yourself and still remain anonymous? One example of a change that
would be made once governments had the power to regulate the internet, is that a
new EULA would be put into place, and anything that does not follow the
agreement would have to be removed. Furthermore, EULA is a way to prevent
people from violating rules, such as copyright, hacking, etc by making them accept
an agreement which is like a contract(Cato). This would be especially hard on
content creators as they would have many things already put up, and they would
have to go back and get rid of the things that don t match what the rules say. As of
right now, there are already rules about copyright such as the Fair Use Policy which

The Future of Outsourcing Essay
The Future of Outsourcing In this extremely technically diverse twenty first century,

Despite his enthusiasm about not being laid off, Joseph s workload had increased
ten fold in response to the company trying to sustain its present levels of product
production and customer satisfaction despite now employing only three quarters of
the work force it formally had. Joseph is working longer hours, thus spending less
time with his family and getting less sleep. His general impression of his job
(employee satisfaction) is quickly dropping. All this contributes to his decreasing
quality of work. Thankfully, after a few months, Joseph s good friend Bill (who
has a strong hand in how things work at Microsoft) notices Joseph s declining
quality of work and general unhappiness and decides to make some changes. They
decide to outsource many of the more menial jobs that were once performed by
lower level employees; those jobs which coincidentally now are the responsibility
of Joseph. With these other tasks taken care of elsewhere, Joseph is back to
enjoying his job and designing some of the highest quality product produced by the
Microsoft Corporation. It is clear from this scenario how employee satisfaction plays
a large role in overall company efficiency as well.
When a business makes the decision to outsource there are numerous factions

charged with the task of deciding who they will choose to outsource them. They are
termed the buyers . Being a buyer is perhaps one of the

Analyzing the Truman Show
One physical feature of Seahaven that reeks of a movie set, is the disorder or
absence of, that typical life indubitably suffers from. Everything from the dog to the
cars, the window cleaner to the mother pushing the pram is set by the director

job over and over again. This prevents any chaos from erupting and wipes out the

Analysis Of George Bradley s Poem The Sound Of The Sun
In the poem The Sound of the Sun by George Bradley (1986, p.749) the poet

admirable feeling about his subject. Additionally the emphasis of imagery allows
the poem to stimulate the reader s imagination. Using key imagery words allows the

By using sounds the reader can relate to assure the reader the importance of how
thought provoking the poem is. Kirszner Mandell (2013, p. 807) said, ...the sound

an easier understanding of the poet s meaning with sound. The poet use of sunlight

poet also uses hyperbole to express his poem with lines such as dawn leaping, sun
swells, and light rushing to darkness, (Bradley, 1986, p. 749). The poet continues
to use this imagery to stimulate the reader s imagination. The poet keeps the

I believe that one of the main reasons why this restaurant is so successful is the fact
that people who eat here enjoy the unique environment and want to come back. The
design at all Cheesecake Factories is very elegant and the architecture at each
restaurant is more developed and fancy. People often come back for more because,
even though they know the prices are slightly higher than at other restaurants, the
meal sizes are bigger and of a better quality. The Cheesecake Factorytakes pride in
being known for giving their customers large portions of food which is why many of

One of the strength is the common knowledge of cheesecakes. When people think of

Essay about The American Revolution and the Institution

Introduction The American Revolution is defined as the political turbulence that took
place towards the end of eighteenth century when thirteen colonies in America united
to attain freedom from the British Empire (Clifford, 2005). The union of the thirteen
colonies is now known as the United States of America. According to Clifford (2005),
the American Revolutionoccurred because of a series of political, intellectual, and
social transformations in the American government and society, which is known as
the American Enlightenment. The American Revolution created a variety of
opportunities for the American slaves to attain freedom (Waldstreicher, 2004). Slaves

An approximate of three thousand slaves escaped from their masters in 1781 when
the British invaded Virginia (Blumrosen Blumrosen, 2006). About five thousand and
twenty thousand slaves in Georgia and South Carolina, respectively, were freed from
bondage as a result of the American Revolution (Clifford, 2005). The Revolution s
natural rights philosophy inspired the freed blacks to request the state legislatures to
get rid of slavery and Congress to terminate the slave trade (Waldstreicher, 2004).
Many of the freed slaves moved to the North because they believed that living
conditions were better in the North than in the South. Unfortunately, they
experienced many problems in the North, such as lack of jobs, insufficient food,
and lack of housing, which forced many of them to go back to the south to work
on the cotton plantations for wages (Clifford, 2005). In the South, the freed slaves
were assured of food and housing. Therefore, the population of slaves started to
grow again in the 1790s and spread into other lands that became the cotton belt
(Clifford, 2005). At round 1793, cotton cultivation expanded into large scale as a
result of the invention of gin. The slaves in the southern states were used as laborers
in spite of the American Revolution s natural rights philosophy (Clifford, 2005).

Why Should Marching Band Be Considered A Sport
Kaiyah Wilhite
Argumentative Essay
Should marching band be considered a sport? Yes, it should. Being a member for
one year, and having completed the season, I speak from experience. There are so
many things to learn in the season, like body movements and music. We also had to
learn all eighty four sets, which is where to go while we are marching. Having to
learn all of this takes hard work, time, and a lot of money. This is why band should
be considered a sport.
The definition of sport is an athletic activity requiring skill or physical activity and
often of a competitive nature. Marching band includes all of the above. The student
playing must have skill to play, move, and memorize all at the same time. There are
physical activities such as jazz running, body movements, and marching in general.
Some students say this is the most competitive team they have ever been a part of.
That is another thing about being a sport, students are a team pulled together as one.

We practice for countless hours in a season. Some marching bands practice up to
300 hours per season! Basketball, soccer, tennis, all of these most people would
consider sports. These sports practice no where near the span of time marching band
pupils do.
One of the reasons band should count as a sport is because of the sweat. I am not
talking about how much students sweat in basketball or tennis. I am talking
specifically about band sweat. This means sweat dripping off your chin, clothes
soaked to the point where you could ring out the sweat and reuse it. Yes, it becomes
that bad. Sweat means physical activity, and anything to do with physical activity is a

Smith Barney is using EBITDA of 14 to 16X. Since EBITDA multiple tends to

Leadership is a process whereby individual influences a group of individuals to

fundamental principles preceding leadership philosophy, we have to understand the
theory of leadership development and its essential characteristics. The leadership
theories that are greatest associated with my personal developmental plan are the
theory of relationship and transformational leadership. The transformational
leadership theory is allied with my personal development plan because it is also
known as the transformational leadership model, which emphases on the influences
that inspires both the leader and the followers. According to this theory, the main
elements or fundamental base is created on vision, trust, power, authenticity,
motivation, and communication.
The development within the organization depend on, how the leaders lead the
organization and distinguish the change or growth. Drucker (2012) has provided the
five basic functions of organizational work culture like; planning, organizing,
controlling, motivating and coordinating. The transformational leader understands
these basic factors and inspire and encourage those who perceive the importance of
the higher good of the task.
Character Analysis Of Severus Snape In Harry Potter
.Snape: Character Analysis Severus Snape, a deviant, strict and a shady character
with whom throughout the Harry Potter series kept the audience second guessing
where his allegiance lied. In the 6th book of the series, Harry Potter and the Half
Blood Price, Snape s lineage was revealed. He was a half blood wizard born to Eileen
Prince and Tobias Snape. Just like our series hero Harry Potter, Snape was raised in
the Muggle (non wizard people) setting till the age of eleven when he received his
letter of admission into Hogwarts, school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was sorted
into the Slytherin house known for the house that has turned up the most dark and
powerful wizards, including the villain of the series, Lord Voldemorthimself. During

Snape was once a Death Eater and therefore implying his loyalty towards Lord
Voldemort (Goblet of Fire). We know very little about the early life of Snape
making it easy to believe that Voldemort and his ideologies were something Snape
greatly admired, ( Snape knew more curses when he arrived to school then half of
the kids in seventh year , according to Sirius Black). Snape had also invented a
curse too, Sectumsempra (Half Blood Prince), which is rare for a student. He
demonstrated no qualms to use the word mudblood (a foul word used for the
muggle born or the impure) in the most derogatory sense (as Harry witness during
his visit into Snape s worst memory in the Order of the Phoenix). He also fancied a
nickname for himself, The Half Blood Prince, highlighting his wizarding
heritage. These small facts, when taken together, are indicative to the reasons
Snape may have chosen to become a Death Eater. His words and actions
throughout the series indicate his need for power and respect, two attributes that
the wizarding world accords to the Dark Lord, which may have been the strongest
reason behind his decision to be Voldemort s follower and join the Death Eaters in
his youth. Snape and Voldemort share the same tactic of intimidation through
fear. However, the power and respect accorded to Voldemort was also accorded The
Great Dumbledore. Moreover Dumbledore could offer two things to Snape that
Voldemort could not and if could would not care to due to his selfish nature, and
that is, unwavering trust and true friendship. Snape may have been Voldemort s
favourite but he shows distrust in Snape when he appoints Peter Pettigrew to be
Snape s assistance in Spinners End (The Half Blood Prince). As for friendship, it is
doubtful that Voldemort is capable of such a thing, Lord Voldemort has never had
friends and nor has he ever wanted one summaries Dumbledore to Harry (The Half

Causes Of Donald Trump Persuasive Essay

APUSH

Period 1 Video:The Choice 2016
In terms of both candidates I really was surprised in lots of things that had happened
in their childhoods. In particular Donald Trump that had always had that winning
mentality. At a very young age he had got sent to the military academy and most that
would go would absolutely hate it due to how hard it is to be in the military academy.
I think one of the most interesting things that I learned about Donald Trump is that he
in his own eyes he only saw losers and winners in this world and his father had
installed the idea that in this world you either a ВЁkillerВЁ. And what Donald s
dad was trying to say is you either someone who has lots of confidence to do what
you wanted to do or you are just not meant to be for this world and just a loser. On
the other hand Hillary Clinton at a very young age had always been one the most
intelligent students when she went to school. At one point she had been going to be
school to become a lawyer and in that same school she ended up meeting Bill
Clinton. She had went to one of the top law schools in the country which was Yale.
Later on she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This impacts Donald Trump a lot because lots of people would be scared because
of how rich and how much power he has in the industry. Like for example, Marvin
Roffman was somebody who got fired from his job because he was giving his
opinion and what was going to happen with Donald s casino(taj mahal) and Donald
made a whole statement on Roffman and then Roffman got fired from the firm.
Hillary seems to be really happy for most of the time and seems to be really
optimistic about lots of things and seems really humble and really seems to have
lots of perseverance. This is impacts her because it gives her positive image of
herself and it could really connect with lots of
Communism And Communism
The economic and social system of communism is derived from the writings of Karl
Marx, who defined it as the riddle of history solved, and it knows itself to be this
solution (Marx Engels, 1848). However, many economists would simply describe it
as the elimination of private property. Essentially, in the ideal communist system, the
government owns everything and distributes the resources to the people. Though a
large group of philosophers and economists have theorized many systems that can be
considered communist, Karl Marxand Friedrich Engelss Communist Manifesto is
usually considered the basis for the economic system. Engels was not a deeply
religious man, nor an atheist; however, he considered himself a Pantheist (one who
believes that God is the entire universe, that he is one with nature). Karl Marx in
contrast, was a staunch atheist, stating The first requisite for the happiness of the
people is the abolition of religion (Marx, A Criticism of the Hegelian Philosophy of
Law , 1844). But even with different religious beliefs, both men believed that the
natural state of man is one of virtue, a belief that shaped communism.
Communism is based on the belief that man is inherently good, and when given the
option he will work for the betterment of his neighbour. This layout is helped along
when all men are economically equal, and the only way to ensure that is to rid
society of private property and monetary exchange, thus, the government controls all

Courage In The Movie The Sandlot
Kendrez Reed September 1, 2016
If your favorite ball goes over a fence, would you try to get it back from a fearsome
beast? The movie The Sandlot displays courage in many different ways. The
Sandlot is about a gang of kids who love to play baseball. These kids are afraid of the
Beast , which is behind the fence of the sandlot. The Babe Ruth baseball Scotty s dad
has is a valuable baseball, and it has Babe Ruth s official signature.
Scotty s mom wanted Scotty to make new friends in the new neighborhood they
moved in. His family moved into a new house in the summer of 1962. Scotty met a
group of kids who play baseball, and they were to be mean to Scotty. They didn t
like Scotty because he doesn t know much about baseball, so
Pros And Cons Of The Internet
One of the main topical subjects today is the importance of net neutrality. Net
neutrality ensures that all of the data on the Internet is treated equally by internet
providers.
Recently the Federal Communications Commission repealed Obama s Title II rules,
which included net neutrality. This is a bad decision. The repeal of net neutrality will
give internet providers the power to slow down and speed up certain websites and
charge packages for categories of the Internet such as social media, videos, and
messaging. According to Rob Price, a journalist for The Independent and Business
Insider, the repeal of net neutrality will allow telecoms to charge packages for
portions of the Internet. An example of these packages is Portugal s main internet
provider, Meo. Meo charges packages for different sections of the Internet such as
messaging, video, social media, cloud/drive storage, et cetera. These packages cost
€4.99 (about $5.86) each per month, all on top of a base monthly price for the
internet service. This is not a good system because, in order to access everything
we currently have, we will have to pay an extra €24.96 (about $29.30). (Logos)
Net neutrality makes sure that the internet companies are not able to do this. Since
the F.C.C. repealed Obama s Title II rules, these packages could easily become a
reality for many internet providers. Cecilia Kang, a journalist for The New York
Times, states that the repeal of net neutrality allows telecoms to slow down and
Rene Magritte Accomplishments
RenГ© Magritte once said Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to
see what is hidden by what we see. Nearly his whole life s work was devoted to
uncovering what was seen by the eye. His work gave a new perspective to many
daily things, and helped to popularize a new style of art, surrealism.
RenГ© Magritte was born on November 21, 1898 in Lessines, Belgium. He was the
the oldest of three boys in a well off family. Two major events influenced his career
as an artist. The first was when he and a friend saw a painting in a cemetery. The
painting encouraged Magritte to paint outside of the box, as the painting had been
found in an out of the box location. The second influential event in his life was the
suicide of his mother when he was just 14 years old. This was very traumatic for
him, as he and his mother were said to be very close. ... Show more content on

This art school focused on traditional techniques of artistry, which were not
interesting to Magritte. This caused him to lose interest in art for a while until a
fellow student introduced him to the new and upcoming styles of Futurism,
Cubism, and Purism. Art critics say his early works were influenced by Cubists
Jean Metzinger and Fernand Leger. Magritte would only identify as a surrealist
when he saw the work of Giorgio de Chirico. As Magritte developed his own style
and came into his own as an artist, he became more well known. In fact, many of his
more well known pieces, including The Son of Man, The Listening Room, and The
Blank Check were painted during the latter portion of his
The Tipages And Advantages Of Calcium Silicate Bricks
Calcium silicate bricks are also called sand lime. They are often confused with
concrete bricks but these are much harder and would not scrape quite so easily.
Calcium silicate bricks are manufactured by mixing lime, sand or crushed
silicaceous together, with enough water to allow the mixture completely hydrated
to be moulded under high pressure. The bricks are then moved in and steam in
autoclaved for three to fourteen hours to speed the chemical hardening. Pigments
can be added during the mixing stage. In their natural state, calcium silicate bricks
are white to a creamy off white colour, but the addition of ochres (buff or cream
colours), iron oxides (pink, red, brown or black) or chrome oxide (green) can enable
a very wide variety of colours to be produced. It easily to cut thus increase its

The City Of Carthage
In the IXth century, the city of Carthage was founded by colonists from Tyre. In their
language, the city name meant New City . The city will be very successful and
prosperous starting with VIth century. Carthaginian sailors will explore the coasts of
Africa and Europe, reaching even the islands of Great Britain. Carthagewill have
colonies of its own in Sicily, Spain, Corsica, Sardinia, Baleares. In the IIIrd century
BC, Carthage is the most powerful city of the Mediterranean from a commercial
perspective.
The beginnings of Carthage are quite interesting as they find an analogy with ones
of Rome: Elissa of Tyre called by a cognomen Dido (meaning the wanderer ) left
her country and landed in what will be Carthage, together with several companions.
Aeneas, son of Anchises, will flee Troy with a band of comrades when the city was
overrun by the Greeks and, according to mythology, stops finally in Latium where
Rome will emerge a few centuries later.
Carthage trades and transports a large variety of goods in the entire Mediterranean
basin: precious metals from Spain and Morocco, spices from the East, bronze from
Gallia, slaves from Africa, silk from Asia and so ... Show more content on

Rome s vessels were triremes with three levels of rowers. Carthaginians were also
more skilled than the Romans in matters of naval strategies and ship operations.
The Romans were wiped out in the first naval battles. Rome realized that victory
will come if it can meet Carthage on its own terrain : the open sea. Rome invented
the corvus a hooked gangplank (Mulligan) that allowed Romans to board enemy

the Romans using their military superiority in taking over the Carthage s forces. This
war helped Rome master the seas a feat that will prove important in the upcoming

Identity In Kidd s The Secret Life Of Bees
In Kidd s The Secret Life of Bees, the main character Lily feels misplaced in society
because of her lack of a relationship with her mother. Whilst reflecting about her life
after the death of her mother Lily expresses I was worried so much about how I
looked and whether I was doing things right, I felt half the time I was
impersonating a girl instead of really being one, emphasizing how she feels
incommodious due to her lack of a maternal figure (Kidd 9). Having yet to elicit her
authentic identity Lily is dissatisfied with who she is. Yet she remains incapable of
discerning the process that would allow her to embrace her identity, or even unearth
who she aspires to become. These struggles with identity in motherless children, like

Their acceptance bestows upon Lily the opportunity to confront her conflicted
feelings regarding her lack of a mother figure. Eventually Lily fully opens up to the
sisters about her struggles with motherhood, and they, in return, help her make
peace with her past. In a moment of clarity Lily states to the Black Mary, I live in a
hive of darkness, and you are my mother, I told her. You are the mother of
thousands, expressing how now Lily is finally able to evaluate her present; she
adopts the Black Mary and the Sisters as mother figures and through them finds the
guidance she needs to begin to develop her identity (Kidd 164). Through her
contemporary identity Lily is able to confront her abusive father T Ray, and immerse
herself with her adoptive lifestyle with the sisters life and their religion. Lily is able
to embrace happiness through the authenticity she has found within herself through
developing maternal relationships. Her journey implicates the immense value of
mothers in child s life. Her story expresses how mothers are artists, painting a vivid
image of the world for their children and then teaching those children how to paint, so
that they can develop their own sense of the world through their personal identity.
While Kidd s novel reflects on the influence a mother has with her child, Brooks
novel Year of Wonders uses the main character Anna, to
A Comparison Of Thomas Jefferson And Sally Hemings
Pooja Rathaur
Essay 2
Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings
Sally Hemings got out of her bed, with lethargy due to the recent move to HГґtel de
Langeac, in Paris. The rays of the sun shined bright on Sally s face. She had
accompanied Thomas Jefferson s younger eight year old daughter, Maria, to Paris
to stay with her father. Her mother, Martha Wayles, had recently passed away and it
was Sally who was responsible to take care of her. Sally s brother, James Hemings,
too was in Paris. Thomas Jefferson had taken James Hemings with him as he wanted
James to be trained as chef.
Sally quickly sprang to her feet. She got dressed as fast as she could and headed
towards the hallway. She could not be late for her duty, having worked as a slave
back in America. Thomas Jefferson, her master, had never hit Sally but there was no
telling what could happen. She walked over to the kitchen to help her brother,
James, cook some breakfast. She put her master s plate on the dining table, and set
off to check on Maria.
Sally stopped at the door to Mary s bedroom. With a breakfast tray in her hands,
Sally carefully opened the door and set the breakfast on Maria s table. When Maria
woke up, Sally got her ready. This was Sally s daily routine, even in Monticello,
Virginia. Sally Hemings was one of Maria s favorites. Sally had always taken great
care of Maria and together, they had a strong bond.
Here in Paris, she enjoyed her freedom to some extent, though she continued working
for Jefferson. Both

Catch 22 Insanity Analysis
Insanity has many denotations. Being insane is being in a mentally ill state of mind,
or acting extremely foolish and irrational. However, sanity and insanity are terms that
are relative to the surroundings and situations in which someone or something is
labeled as such. Insanity is determined by something that goes against the norms of
behavior in a specific society. Therefore, when the accepted norms are different in an
alternative society, the definition of insanitychanges as well. The sanity of characters
in Catch 22is constantly questioned. The reader must remember however, that
insanity is relative to the society that determines it. Sanity is non qualifiable in the
Catch 22 society because it includes a vast spectrum of morals and... Show more

This is because there are no accepted norms that war follows. War consists of moral
ambiguities, and the line between rational and irrational behavior tends to blur.
People often go against their norms and morals in order to survive the war. The
chaos and confusion of war leads people to judge each other, in order to justify
their own actions. Doc Daneeka s response to the unfairness of sending insane
people to war is that there is no one else that will do the job, or else everyone
would say they were insane. War treats everyone equally, sane or insane, and it
does not spare anyone in spite of their morals. In war, morals and norms are fluid
and are based upon utter survival. This means that the definition of insanity is also
completely relative. The true message of Catch 22 is that it is inappropriate and
impossible to clearly label someone or something as sane or insane, because it is a

Annabel Lee The Raven
Edgar Allan Poe was a writer, poet, critic, and editor whose tales of mystery and
horror gave birth to the modern detective story. Some of his well known poems
include Annabel Lee, Alone, and perhaps his best known poem, The Raven. For
most of his life Poe struggled with poverty and heartbreak. He often displays his
experiences with heartbreak and depression in many of his writings making it
relatable to many people, which is why his poems are considered among the best
known poems in American literature.
Annabel Lee is a poem that takes place in a fairy tale setting. It is narrated by a
young man who describes himself as a child. The man falls in love with a young
woman named Annabel Lee and they live in a kingdom by the sea. The narrator
and Annabel Lee are elated and have a deep romantic love for one another. Their
love for each other is so intense, in fact, that the seraphim in Heaven become
jealous and murder Annabel Lee. The narrator is devastated, but does not give up
on their love. He states that his love for Annabel will still continue even after her
death. Every night he dreams of her and sleeps next to her in her tomb. Perhaps one
of my favorite lines from this poem is in stanza five, ...And neither the angels in ...

find myself asking. Sometimes after experiencing something painful like a tragedy
or losing someone we loved we can often wonder if we ll
The Wonder Woman Analysis
American history is filled with an abundant amount of fictional pop culture icons,
ranging from web slinging vigilantes to detectives in bat costumes. These characters
have not only evolved media and literature, but they have also become a strong
representation of political topics. And, while many characters may have detoured
from their original values and ethics, one has remained a prime example of political
activism, civil rights, and social justice. Diana Prince the Wonder Woman, has a rich

Again, this theme can be directly related to Marston s ideas regarding female equality,
a topic that he and his wife were very passionate about.Wonder Woman fought for
social equality among women. Yet, despite these innocent themes accompanied with

Essays On Human Nature. Essay about Nature - Grade: A - Nature is the world around us, except ...

  • 1. Essays On Human Nature Exploring the intricacies of human nature in an essay can be an intellectually challenging endeavor. The vast and complex nature of human behavior, emotions, and cognition requires a comprehensive understanding of psychology, philosophy, sociology, and even biology. Attempting to encapsulate the essence of what it means to be human within the confines of an essay poses a considerable difficulty, as the subject matter spans a broad spectrum of theories, perspectives, and cultural influences. One of the primary challenges lies in navigating the multitude of theories proposed by renowned thinkers throughout history. From the philosophical musings of Aristotle and Rousseau to the psychological insights of Freud and Maslow, synthesizing diverse perspectives while maintaining coherence is no small feat. Moreover, the ever-evolving nature of human understanding and societal norms adds another layer of complexity. What was considered inherent human nature centuries ago might be perceived differently in the light of contemporary knowledge and cultural shifts. The difficulty also stems from the need to strike a balance between depth and accessibility. Delving too deeply into academic jargon may alienate a general audience, while oversimplifying the concepts risks sacrificing the richness and nuance that characterize discussions on human nature. Crafting a compelling narrative that engages readers while conveying the profound aspects of human existence is, therefore, a delicate balancing act. Furthermore, the personal and subjective nature of human experience adds an additional layer of complexity. Essays on human nature often require a thoughtful exploration of individual perspectives, cultural influences, and the interplay between nature and nurture. Incorporating personal reflections and anecdotal evidence without losing the essay's academic rigor can be a challenging tightrope walk. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of human nature demands a meticulous blend of interdisciplinary research, critical thinking, and effective communication. It necessitates navigating the vast sea of theories, acknowledging the dynamic nature of the subject, and delicately balancing depth with accessibility. While challenging, the process offers an opportunity for intellectual growth and a deeper understanding of the profound complexities that define our human essence. For those seeking assistance in tackling such complex topics, similar essays and a wealth of additional resources can be explored and ordered through services like HelpWriting.net. • 2. Advantages Of The CAPM Assumption CAPM Assumptions The CAPM is often criticized for being unrealistic because of the assumptions on which it is based, so it is important to be aware of these assumptions and the reasons for criticizing. The assumptions are the following пѓ Investors with diversified portfolios This assumption implies that investors only require a change in the systematic risk of their portfolios, since unsystematic risk has been removed and can be ignored. Single period horizon transaction A standard maintenance period is assumed by the CAPM for comparable yields different values. One more than six months, for example, can not be compared with a yield of more than 12 months. A holding period of one year is generally used. Investors can borrow and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the business risk of the investment project is different from the organization of investment, the CAPM can be used to calculate a rate discount for a specific project. The procedure for this calculation was covered in the second article of this series (specific discount rates project, Student Accountant, April 2008). The advantage of using a CAPM project Derivatives specific rate of discount is illustrated in Figure 2 Using the CAPM will lead to better investment decisions than the use of the WACC in the two shaded areas, which can be represented by the projects A and B. Project A would be rejected if WACC was used as discount rate, because the internal rate of return (IRR) of the project is less than the WACC. This investment decision is not correct, however, since the project A would be accepted if a CAPM the discount rate derived for specific projects is used because the project IRR is above the SML. The project offers a larger than necessary to compensate for the level of systematic risk, and accept that it will increase shareholder wealth

By showing the reader even in the midst of all of our imperfections, wounds, and hurts He is there with and everlasting love and ability to heal. • 5. Satire On Animals What comes to mind when you hear the word animal ? Your brain tends to automatically think of something furry, something with feathers, or maybe even something slimy with scales. That s what generally comes to mind. However, do you think of a life or a beating heart? Do you think about them ever fighting for survival? Take a moment to think about the word animal. Animals are not stuffed toys you find at the toy store. They are delicate living, breathing creatures that were given a life just as humans were. Their lives shouldn t be taken away because of neglect, entertainment, or designer merchandise. They have to fight for survival against humans when we should be the ones cherishing them. There aren t any concerns until something has to suffer. Companies claim they test on animals for the safety of humans, but valuing one life over another isn t the route to take to create a better product. The main candidates suffering are monkeys, dogs, rats, and mice. The major problem is that these animals are suffering a traumatizing experience. These poor animals are enduring hair loss, burns, rashes, and gashes in their skin and all over their bodies. Some scientists even go as far as injecting metal wires and rods inside their skulls. However, the researchers justify the experimentation with it s for science . Of course there are brands out on the market that produce great selling products without testing on animals. No one deserves that kind of treatment whether it s claimed to prevent harm to humans or not, it s already been proven that animal testing is not a necessity in order to create and improve a product. Put yourself in their shoes. You wouldn t want your pet being put in harm s way, traumatized with chemicals and unknown substances; how would you react

  • 8. The Indian Direct Taxation Regime Essay I.INTRODUCTION Albert Einstein once remarked that the hardest thing in the world is to understand Income tax laws. The Indian Direct taxation regime has been described as the most complex web of laws, rules, regulations which are extremely difficult to interpret and even more difficult to implement and adhere to. This has led to increased litigation, loss of revenue and slowed economic growth along with an unpredictable, complex and difficult taxation regime in India. Various governmental committees, eminent lawyers and world famous economists have advocated the idea of phasing out deductions, exemptions and incentives provided under the Income tax laws in India viz. a viz. a reduction in the corporate tax . The reasons behind such a measure range from simplifying the complex nature of the Income tax regime in India to reduce the cost of collection of tax and to ensure a low level of corporate tax. MAT or minimum alternative tax is imposed to ensure that profit making entities do not take undue advantage of the deductions, exemptions and incentives accorded to them under the IT Act, 1961 and substantially reduce their tax liability. Clearly, the above ideas are in conflict with each other in that the former talks about phasing out deductions, exemptions or other incentives to ensure a simplified taxation regime while the latter talks about imposing a complex type of tax to ensure that the entities do not take undue advantage of the deduction, exemptions and incentives. The intent of the Queens speech is to pay tribute to late Diana and also thank everyone for the flowers, messages, and respects paid to Diana. I believe that the speech was rhetorically effective because of the emotion that the speaker conveys. Logos is established because we know that the speaker is the Queen of England. However, pathos is the most common in this speech. The Queen is distressed about the death of a family member, and it shows in her speech. The speech is written in a sweet style. The Prince And Discourse On Livy In his famous works, The Prince and Discourse on Livy, Machiavelli meticulously discusses the importance of religion in the formation and maintaining a political order. Machiavelli regards religion as a political tool used by political elites for political purposes. He argues that the appearance of religionis good while the practice of it is harmful. One of the memorable passage from the Prince that supports Machiavelli s claim is when he advices the prince to not to be good, and the prince should cultivate the appearance of the religion if he wants to maintain his state. The prince, he writes, should appear all mercy, all faith, all honesty, all human, all religion he adds and nothing is more necessary to have than this last quality (The Prince, 70). Thus, Machiavelli view on religion is nothing but a necessary tool for maintaining a political authority. People with ALS start losing their ability to move as the disease goes through their body. In the Book Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom Morrie Schwartz has ALS and he tries to give away all of his wisdom before he dies. Morrie teaches people to live life through showing love to family, not hiding or being scared of aging and accepting that Deathis natural. The first lesson Morrie teaches is that showing love to family is most important. Morrie says the family is the main foundation and we should love them because we never know when we could lose them. A wise quote from Morrie that proves we should show love for family is The fact is, there is no foundation, no secure ground, upon which people my stand today if it isn t the family (Albom 91). I agree with Morrie that family is the main foundation in life. Family will always help each other out any way possible so it is important to love family members. An example from my life is there was this one time I needed money for something I needed and I didn t have no money. So then my uncle ended up helping me out because it was important and family helps each other out when in need. The second lesson Morrie teaches is that don t be scared of aging, it is a natural thing. Morrie accepts aging because he is at that point in his life that he needs help moving around because he can t do it by himself especially with ALS. A wise Quote from Morrie that proves not to be afraid of aging is Its very simple. As you grow, you learn more. If you stayed at twenty two, you d always be as ignorant as you were at twenty two. Aging is not just decay, you know. Its growth. It s more than the negative that you re going to die, it s also the positive that you understand you re going to die, and that you live a better life because of it (Albom 118). I agree with Morrie as a person gets older, they get wiser from experience that they learned over the years. I am not afraid of aging I learned How to accept it as a natural thing that everybody goes through. • 18. The Role Of Immigrants In Animal Crackers And Annie Hall The role of the immigrant as an American cultural figure cannot be understated, and the cultural values associated with immigrant versus non immigrant Jews in particular are primarily class values. However, even once assimilated and wealthy, upper class Jews face a difficult situational dichotomy: Whether to join the high minded literati (a category that Jews helped shape in America) or the more vulgar entrepreneurial class. The anxieties associated with Jewish history complicate this choice, and its consequences are echoed in many films, including Animal Crackers and Annie Hall. Perhaps the dichotomy between the high minded wealthy Jew and the vulgar wealthy Jew can be most clearly seen by looking at Jack and Harry Warner. As profiled in Gabler s Between the Old Life and the New, Harry Warner was a devoted family man, lived a quiet life... a stern moralist who would eventually assume the role of moral adjudicator to his entire family. He was also a more observant Jew, and less religiously assimilated. Jack, meanwhile, was a veteran provocateur who incited everyone, regarded as a frustrated comedian who liked nothing better than telling very bad jokes in a loud voice, and seemed to enjoy creating embarrassment. He also repeatedly refused any religious instruction. In some sense, Jack could be seen as assimilated while Harry could be seen as defiantly Jewish. But it would be just as easy to paint the opposite picture: Despite their religious differences, Harry put effort into coming across as a member of high society, while Jack intentionally resisted and even opposed those norms. Harry would often have to apologize for Jack, claiming he didn t have the advantages of such a good education. Here, we see the beginning of the high minded/vulgar dichotomy that would continue to separate wealthy Jews for the next century. The Marx BrothersAnimal Crackers shows that this trope was already recognized in the culture, and plays with the trope intentionally. When we first see Groucho Marx, he is playing the role of Captain Spaulding, a rich adventurer returned from Africa. It s never quite clear, in the film, to what extent Groucho is pretending to be Spaulding, and to what extent he actually

In this unique country live followers of several religions, such as Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Jainism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism and Sikhism. At the time of the birth of Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikhreligion, India was being ruled by Muslim kings. In their desire to control the population of India, these kings resorted to oppressive tactics to convert all non Muslims to Islam. They imposed several religious taxes and expressed blatant disrespect for places of worship that did not coincide with their own, among other tactics. However, they were not alone in doing so. The Hindu pundits and Brahmins also turned to unorthodox practices by exploiting the people and forcing them to participate in expensive ceremonies and rituals. Both Hinduism and Islam were being corrupted by the greedy tendencies of those considered religious authorities . Guru Nanak was born in a Hindu family and retained an interest in religion. Federal governments are constantly looking for new ways to control the people, and what better way than to regulate something than to use the internet, a platform that almost everyone has access to? But isn t the internet a place where you can be yourself and still remain anonymous? One example of a change that would be made once governments had the power to regulate the internet, is that a new EULA would be put into place, and anything that does not follow the agreement would have to be removed. The Future of Outsourcing Essay The Future of Outsourcing In this extremely technically diverse twenty first century, where businesses have become able to meet more and more of the needs of people and other businesses, it is often amazing to think of all the individually operating parts which together make the business a success. Joseph is working longer hours, thus spending less time with his family and getting less sleep. His general impression of his job (employee satisfaction) is quickly dropping. All this contributes to his decreasing quality of work. Thankfully, after a few months, Joseph s good friend Bill (who has a strong hand in how things work at Microsoft) notices Joseph s declining quality of work and general unhappiness and decides to make some changes. They decide to outsource many of the more menial jobs that were once performed by lower level employees; those jobs which coincidentally now are the responsibility of Joseph. With these other tasks taken care of elsewhere, Joseph is back to enjoying his job and designing some of the highest quality product produced by the Microsoft Corporation. The Revolution s natural rights philosophy inspired the freed blacks to request the state legislatures to get rid of slavery and Congress to terminate the slave trade (Waldstreicher, 2004). Many of the freed slaves moved to the North because they believed that living conditions were better in the North than in the South. Mahatma Gandhi Ethical leadership has established on following principles. (Picture courtesy: Northouse, 2013) Leadership is a process whereby individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal (Northouse, 2013, p. 5). So, to better understand the fundamental principles preceding leadership philosophy, we have to understand the theory of leadership development and its essential characteristics. The leadership theories that are greatest associated with my personal developmental plan are the theory of relationship and transformational leadership. The transformational leadership theory is allied with my personal development plan because it is also known as the transformational leadership model, which emphases on the influences that inspires both the leader and the followers. According to this theory, the main elements or fundamental base is created on vision, trust, power, authenticity, motivation, and communication. The development within the organization depend on, how the leaders lead the organization and distinguish the change or growth. Recently the Federal Communications Commission repealed Obama s Title II rules, which included net neutrality. This is a bad decision. The repeal of net neutrality will give internet providers the power to slow down and speed up certain websites and charge packages for categories of the Internet such as social media, videos, and messaging. According to Rob Price, a journalist for The Independent and Business Insider, the repeal of net neutrality will allow telecoms to charge packages for portions of the Internet. Carthage trades and transports a large variety of goods in the entire Mediterranean basin: precious metals from Spain and Morocco, spices from the East, bronze from Gallia, slaves from Africa, silk from Asia and so ... Rome realized that victory will come if it can meet Carthage on its own terrain : the open sea. Rome invented the corvus a hooked gangplank (Mulligan) that allowed Romans to board enemy vessels and take the fight in land like conditions. A Comparison Of Thomas Jefferson And Sally Hemings Pooja Rathaur Essay 2 Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings Sally Hemings got out of her bed, with lethargy due to the recent move to HГґtel de Langeac, in Paris. The rays of the sun shined bright on Sally s face. She had accompanied Thomas Jefferson s younger eight year old daughter, Maria, to Paris to stay with her father. Her mother, Martha Wayles, had recently passed away and it was Sally who was responsible to take care of her. Sally s brother, James Hemings, too was in Paris. Thomas Jefferson had taken James Hemings with him as he wanted James to be trained as chef. Sally quickly sprang to her feet. She got dressed as fast as she could and headed towards the hallway. She could not be late for her duty, having worked as a slave back in America. Thomas Jefferson, her master, had never hit Sally but there was no telling what could happen. She walked over to the kitchen to help her brother, James, cook some breakfast. She put her master s plate on the dining table, and set off to check on Maria. Sally stopped at the door to Mary s bedroom. With a breakfast tray in her hands, Sally carefully opened the door and set the breakfast on Maria s table. When Maria woke up, Sally got her ready. This was Sally s daily routine, even in Monticello, Virginia. Sally Hemings was one of Maria s favorites. Sally had always taken great care of Maria and together, they had a strong bond. Here in Paris, she enjoyed her freedom to some extent, though she continued working for Jefferson. Both

  • 54. Catch 22 Insanity Analysis Insanity has many denotations. Being insane is being in a mentally ill state of mind, or acting extremely foolish and irrational. However, sanity and insanity are terms that are relative to the surroundings and situations in which someone or something is labeled as such. Insanity is determined by something that goes against the norms of behavior in a specific society. Therefore, when the accepted norms are different in an alternative society, the definition of insanitychanges as well. The sanity of characters in Catch 22is constantly questioned. The reader must remember however, that insanity is relative to the society that determines it. Sanity is non qualifiable in the Catch 22 society because it includes a vast spectrum of morals and... War consists of moral ambiguities, and the line between rational and irrational behavior tends to blur. People often go against their norms and morals in order to survive the war. The chaos and confusion of war leads people to judge each other, in order to justify their own actions. Doc Daneeka s response to the unfairness of sending insane people to war is that there is no one else that will do the job, or else everyone would say they were insane. War treats everyone equally, sane or insane, and it does not spare anyone in spite of their morals. In war, morals and norms are fluid and are based upon utter survival. This means that the definition of insanity is also completely relative. The true message of Catch 22 is that it is inappropriate and impossible to clearly label someone or something as sane or insane, because it is a subjective

Some of his well known poems include Annabel Lee, Alone, and perhaps his best known poem, The Raven. For most of his life Poe struggled with poverty and heartbreak. He often displays his experiences with heartbreak and depression in many of his writings making it relatable to many people, which is why his poems are considered among the best known poems in American literature. Annabel Lee is a poem that takes place in a fairy tale setting. It is narrated by a young man who describes himself as a child. The man falls in love with a young woman named Annabel Lee and they live in a kingdom by the sea. The narrator and Annabel Lee are elated and have a deep romantic love for one another. Their love for each other is so intense, in fact, that the seraphim in Heaven become jealous and murder Annabel Lee. The narrator is devastated, but does not give up on their love. He states that his love for Annabel will still continue even after her death. Every night he dreams of her and sleeps next to her in her tomb.
