2. Air Defense Artillery in Middle East Operations Essay
Our nation has been in conflict with the Middle East for over two and a half
decades. Air Defense Artillery has made a huge impact in Middle East conflicts.
The threats that make Air Defense Artillery a necessity for these conflicts include a
number of aircraft, such as planes, jets and helicopters as well as launched
munitions like scud missiles and mortars. Air Defense Artillery is an ever evolving
force and has been there for protection of American forces against these threats. Air
Defense Artillery is a group of weapons that divide the airspace into two different
sectors. Short Range Air Defense, also known as SHORAD, defends against low
altitude, short range aircraft and munitions. High to Medium Altitude Air Defense,

eliminate rocket and mortar threats. The first SHORAD Air Defense unit to deploy
to this conflict was 5th Battalion, 62nd Air Defense Artillery. 5/62 ADA was a
Vulcan Stinger unit that originally deployed on 12 August 1990 to protect Patriot
units due to their vulnerability from low flying, air breathing threats. 5/62 ADA was
later split up and each battery given assignments to protect other types of units.
Examples of these assignments are; Alpha Battery joined the 75th Field Artillery
Brigade and Bravo Battery joined 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. (Henry) All
encompassing the mission of SHORAD, 5/62 ADA protected many different assets
from air breathing threats during the Gulf War. Other SHORAD units from the past
and present include 6th Battalion 52nd Air Defense Artillery, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Air
Defense Artillery and 5th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery. The stated units have
been, or are still currently, SHORAD based only. SHORAD units still prove
invaluable during modern conflicts as well. Units that deploy
3. Driving while Drinking
What are the effects of alcohol on driving?
Driving a vehicle is a very complex activity that demands proper decision making,
total concentration, good co ordination and rapid reflexes. In order to drive safely, it
is essential to be alert, aware and able to make quick decisions in response to a
constant rapidly changing environment.
Alcohol alters the ability of the brain and body to function normally. It interferes
with even the most experienced driver s ability to drive safely.
When alcohol is consumed, many of the required skills to drive safely such as
judgment, concentration, comprehension, coordination, visual acuity, and reaction
time become impaired. (Anelli Xavier, 2013)
The severity of alcohol induced impairment on driving depends on the amount of
alcohol present in the bloodstream, this is based on a person s blood alcohol
concentration (BAC) percentage. People begin to feel the effects of alcohol when
their BAC ranges between 0.03% and 0.059%. (2014 Motor Accident Commission
South Australia)
Drink driving is a factor in about 18 per cent of all fatal crashes in NSW. (Transport
for New South Wales, 31 May 2013)
Studies have shown that when under the influence of alcohol, drivers are not able
to respond to stimuli as quickly as when they are sober. An individual needs more
time to respond to situations and hazards. If someone is driving a car, the
perception of distance is increased. For example, in an ordinary scenario, a driver
would be able to respond to
4. The Importance of Property Accountability
According to Dictionary.com, the word responsibility means the state or fact of being
answerable or accountable.
Responsibility is related to the roles of the particular individuals and groups. Role
is defined as an expected behavior in a given individual social status and social
position. For one person, he will have different responsibilities when he is at
different roles. For example, someone should take the responsibility as a father
when he is in a family. He should be responsible as being an employee when he is
working in a company.
Responsibility can be classified as obvious responsibility and obscure responsibility.
Obvious responsibility regards as the responsibility which is clearly stated. For

Gen. Mitchell H. Stevenson, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army for Logistics, G 4
If soldiers weren t held accountable for property that they were issued, no one
would have anything. All soldiers are issued gear which they will need either down
range or in the rear. Thus they need to know where their equipment is. So they can
use this equipment when they go to a range to qualify, or rucking over ten miles.
Little things such as canteens, PT belts, or even gloves can help so much when that
soldier needs it. But when it comes down to sensitive items, soldiers are liable for
them especially when it can mean life or death.
Property accountability comes down to one simple fact, if it s gone, you re
screwed. Until you can find it, you can t just stand around and wait for it to show
up again. Soldiers who lose items will have to eventually pay up to the Army. They
even face the fact they will lose money for something that could they should ve
been able to prevent from being lost in the first place. Soldiers cannot afford to
lose property, especially soldiers who are brand new to a unit or just coming out of
basic training and advance individual training. When these new soldiers lose such
items, they will be held accountable and they will be branded as someone who
doesn t keep track of what they re doing. Plus they just started their own career, even
if they don t plan on staying in the Army.

5. Analysis Of Robert Frost s Birches
The most misinterpreted element in Robert Frost poetry is his use of nature in a
symbolic way. Frost is not describing the inner workings of nature as we see it all
around us, but about exploring human psychology. For example, Frost uses Homely
farmers, rural scenes, landscapes, and the natural world to epitomize a psychological
struggle with an everyday experience that is often met with courage, will, and
purpose; contextually, using Frost s own life and personal psychology. Frost s
attitude in his poetry is honest, accepting, and stoical, nature is just used as a
background. Frost usually begins his poems by delineate an observation of something
in nature, then moves on toward a connection with some human concern or situation.
He uses the natural world as symbolism in his poetry then suggests bigger, deeper,
more complex ideas. In Robert Frosts poetry he is not purely writing about nature,
rather he is using nature as a tool to compose ideas relating to human nature.
In Robert Frost s poem Birches he uses nature as imagery to convey his disdain for
the pressures of social life. Frost does not specify which social burden he is
referring too, but we can piece together parts of this poem and derive at his true
meaning. The language Frost uses in Birches tell us there is a burden such as, ...

of accidental injury and death in the United States and worldwide [1 5]. Each year
approximately one million people in the United States seek medical care for burns,
approximately one third of these in the emergency department [1,4 6]. Although the
vast majority of injuriesdo not reuire hospitalization, severe burns can lead to
significant morbidity and death.

Lactated Ringer s solution (LR) is tipically given; it contains physiological
concentrations of major electrolytes, and may reduce the incidence of
hyperchloremic acidosis that may occur with administration of extremely large
volumes of isotonic saline (ie, 0.9 percent sodium chloride). Hartmann s solution,
another isotonic solution that differs slightly from LR in its concentrations of lactate

8. The Senate Bill 149 ( Sb 149 )
The Senate Bill 149 (SB 149) signed by Greg Abbot is about relating to alternative
methods for satisfying certain public high school graduation requirements, including
the use of individual graduation committees. This bill gives students a better chance
at graduating, although it may or not be continued results of this bill will have to be
processed first. I chose this bill because I believed that it would be well known also,
because it is important to school life which has taken a big turn in recent years.
Educationhas taken a decline in funding so I think this law may benefit the sudden
drop in funding or perhaps is something the government hopes to be used as an olive
branch due to withdrawal of funding. My first article details who the law effects, and
what requirements for Individual Graduation committees (IGC). One of the effects of
SB 149 is, The law requires school districts and open enrollment charter schools to
have IGCs for any eleventh or twelfth grade studentwho has not passed two out of
the five end of the course (EOC) exams at or the end of the eleventh grade s year
(Seliger). IGCs need the principal, the teacher of the relevant course; the department
chair or lead teacher supervising the teacher of the relevant course; and either the
student s parent/guardian, or the student if the student is at least 18 years of age or is
an emancipated minor (Seliger). This is a pretty basic requirementthat I believe most
organizations involving students would have
9. Theoretical Models for Understanding Behavior
Theoretical Models for Understanding Behavior In special education it is vital to
have an understanding of human behavior and how it relates to learning
disabilities. It is imperative to have a grasp of the concepts of the models and how
it relates to the educators of tomorrow. (Wheeler, John J., Richey, David Dean, 2010)
Understanding models of behavior also helps to have a more cohesive and positive
classroom. When looking at an atypical child, the biological model, is an excellent
starting point. The biological model is using medically based information to help
ascertain the typicality of a child in relation to his/her counterparts. Using medical
data and testing to find anomalies aids in diagnosing and starting treatment regimens.

His model focuses on the interactions that occur in the environment and how they
affect the behavior. His theory also indicates that children learn by engaging in
activities that they enjoy while working with other children. For example, if a
child (A) were playing with Lego without the knowledge of how to put it together.
Another child (B) sat down and knew how to put the Lego together; child A would
learn from child B. Uri Bronfenbrenner is another known theorist for the ecological
model. He is widely known for the showing that child development circled around
the family, school, and environment. For the child to be educated it all depends on
the environment surrounding the child. There are many factors in his theory; for
example, a child is living in a non supporting home that causes a trickling affect for
the child to be unsuccessful. Bronfenbrenner emphasizes all of the elements must be
working toward the same goal, the student. Nicholas Hobbs was best known for re
education of troubled children and youth. This theory leads to the design of Re
Education of Emotionally Disturbed Children program (RE ED). This included
studying Western European countries examining support for children with a
disability. One model studied in France showed the role of a care giver in child care
setting, titled psychoeducateurs. This was not done in the United States at this time.
The psychoeducateur was essentially a child care specialist who had been
10. Compare Contrast Tready Signing at Medicine Creek Lodge
The only thing we can be sure about in the Treaty Signing at Medicine Creek Lodge,
by John Taylor and Howling Wolf is that they contain the same overt content that is
the peace treaty signing . (Sayre) How can both artists be so far apart in their
renderings and what influences affected their works? Was it the time between the two
artworks, cultural differences, or form?
John Taylor s illustration for Leslie s Illustrated Gazette is more naturalistic than
representational because he was focusing on what he saw in the grove at the treaty
signing but ethnocentric beliefs may have caused him to make the Native Americans
look hostile in their facial expressions, with their bow and arrows at hand. He also

The lack of scale makes the tipis, trees, horse and Native Americans look about the
same size. Howling Wolf shows the convergence of the Arkansas River and
Medicine Creek because that s where the tribes were encamped and that is his
main focus. One big difference between Howling Wolf s version and John Taylor s
version is that Howling Wolf shows a large number of married Native American
women, identified by a red stripe down the back of their heads, at the treaty signing.
They sit with their backs to the viewer, their attention focused on the signing
ceremony before them . (Sayre) This illustrates the importance of women in Native
American culture. By using iconology, Howling Wolf identifies each individual by
the symbols on their clothes and tipis. I believe he also uses iconology when
focusing on the grove where the signing took place. There is a Native American man
holding the treaty and crying, an Anglo American holding a pen in the face of
another Native American as if to say, you better sign! Even the Anglo American
holding the horse has symbolism, whereas the horse wants to be freed, but is being
held captive.
In conclusion, the time difference between the two works doesn t seem to be a big
factor in the different renderings of the treaty signings because even after that length
of time Howling Wolf seems to remember specific details, even if they are
completely different from Taylor s view. Howling Wolf remembered the symbols
worn by the

Lean is a perfect way of approach if any task is to be done instantly and without waste
which eventually helps in saving working capital and productivity. JIT(just in time) is
a concept introduced by Toyota group to improve return on investment on inventory,
which is also known as Japanese manufacturing management. According to general

Just by looking at the image, there is a lot of empty space that is surrounded in the
back ground. In that way, we would not pay attention to the background but the
tension in the scene instead. Basically at first glance, there is a depiction of purity
and grace on the beautiful oil master piece. The two figures of the Archangel and
Virgin Mary are close together and it shows a scene of almost touching fingers
while they try to reach for one another but seems like they would never join hands.
The male figure of the archangel would carry a long feather like pen and it would
bow down to the Virgin marry and tries to respectable speak to her. On the other
hand, the Virgin Mary seems to be in authority because she is standing up and
looking down at the Archangel. This creates tension in the painting while we
question the social distinction between the two. Looking closely at the Virgin Mary,
her eyes would be close. It is almost like she is resisting the contact from the
Archangel and tried to stay away from him. Looking on the left, the Archangel have
white wings and there is green yellowish light that surrounds him and the red
clothing on him show that he is there for good news. But the resistance from the
Virgin Mary seem like she is unaware of what is happening and is unable to accept
the annunciation from the angel. The Annunciation was presented in a jewel like

1. Introduction: The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan is fiction. The story s genres
are action, fantasy, and adventure.
2. Setting: The setting of The Son of Neptune are that the time is in the present, and
that it has mainly eight locations or places: Camp Jupiter in San Francisco,

Details that indicated that The Son of Neptune is in present time where the use of
cars and phones and the implied use of televisions, computers, iPods and the Internet.
This shows that the story takes place in present time because cars, phones, television,
computers, iPods and the Internet are common household items used today. Thus, the
present time is the time period of The Son of Neptune. In the story, there are several
locations due to the main characters constantly traveling from place to place to
complete their quest s objective. The eight locations are Camp Jupiter in San

14. Ribosomes In Eukaryotic Cells
The nucleus houses most of the genes in a eukaryotic cell. The genetic instructions
are housed within a cell, and the instructions are carried out by the ribosomes. The
nucleus directs protein synthesis by synthesizing messenger RNA according to
instructions provided by the DNA. The mRNA is then transported to the cytoplasm
via nuclear pores.
The main parts of the nucleus include the nuclear envelope, which encloses the
nucleus and separates it from the cytoplasm, which has an outer and an inner
membrane. There is a complex of pores that helps regulate entry and exit into the
nucleus. The nuclear side of the envelope is lined by the nuclear lamina, which helps
maintain the structure of the nucleus. The DNA inside a nucleus is organized into
units called chromosomes, which is made up of chromatin, a complex of proteins and
DNA. The structures in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They carry out protein synthesis. There are two locales free ribosomes in cytosol and

Free ribosomes are found in the cytosol, while bound ribosomes are found attached to
the side of the endoplasmic reticulum or nuclear envelope.
The information in a gene, found on a chromosome, in the nucleus is used to

There it is translated into a protein, which is transported back through a nuclear pore

Additional challenges in which the government digital services are facing is they
are trying to make services digital only, however, not everyone has access to a
digital devices such as smartphones, laptops or tablets to access digital services,
therefore excluding the general public. By excluding the general public, the
government digital service face the challenges of innovating the new service as it is
not able to understand their needs fully, therefore cannot come with better ways of
bridging the gap between the government and the citizens who are excluded from it.
Furthermore, another challenge in which is facing the government digital service
is shifting the website onto a more mobile platform such as smartphones due to the
fragile nature of the data being handled on an app, there is an issue of data being
stored and handled securely. This affects the aim of the GDS, as it wants to provide
the services in an easier and faster method. It can be disputed with the rise of
smartphones, it would be the most effected if it didn t have an issue of trust. This
would be an innovative challenge, as you cannot exploit the gap in the market for
mobile devices.
Opportunities regarding the government digital service can be examined through
services such as open data, as it allows a combination of different sources to be
accessible to the government. Instead of duplication of the data, it will enable the
data to be utilized in a more effective manner. It can

Introduction: In the following essay I will be presenting premises based on
Immanuel Kant s perspective on the matter of, Groundwork of the Metaphysic of
Morals . Once I have outlined Kant s view on the matter, I will then object to the
conclusions, that Always treat a human being (yourself included) as an end, and
never as a mere means (Kant pg.169), making his whole argument false.
Immanuel Kant s Argument:
1.Good Will that could be considered good without limitation (Kant pg. 103) it is
good in itself (Kant pg. 104)
2.The Notion of Duty In order to do so, we shall set before ourselves the concept of
duty, which contains that of a good will though under certain subjective limitations
and hindrance, which, however, far from concealing it and making It unrecognizable,
rather bring it out by contrast and make it shine forth all the more brightly. (Kant
pg.104)
3.The Nature of Imperatives if the action would be good merely as a means to
something else the imperative is hypothetical; if the action is represented as in itself
good, hence as necessary in a will in itself conforming to reason, as its principle, then
it is categorical. ...
A.Act as if the maxim of your action were to become by your will a universal law of
nature. (Kant pg. 109)
B.Act that use humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of any other,
always at the same time as an end, never merely as a means. (Kant pg112)

Digital Music Piracy
Can t Stop, Won t Stop
Digital music piracy, or the unlawful downloading of copyrighted music, has been a
controversial topic for more than a decade now. The issue was first brought to
attention in 1998 when Shawn Fanning created Napster. Though the MP3 file was
originally developed in 1987, Napster represented the first mainstream and user
friendly program to transfer and download these files. Napster, a peer to peer (P2P)
program, allowed online users to connect with one another and swap copyrighted
music, videos, and other files contained on their computers, thus providing a way to
get free music online. (157) Since music artists and record companies were

(19) There is no doubt that downloading and CD R burning are cutting into sales,
and that it is the major means by which the majority of artists make a living from.
Although touring is another source of income it is impossible for it to fund an
entire career. There are of course, some artists that are reaching stardom and able to
make a very substantial living, but as the CRIA said, for the industry that has
invested in them, those profits are turned right back into funding new artists. So if
consumers want a wide variety of music and their favorite artists to succeed, than
they must support them by buying their music, plain and simple. So what can be
done to decrease music piracy? Besides creating new laws, and suing P2P websites
for copyright infringement there are other fronts being explored. On the
technological front labels are working with several companies in creating a more
secure music format. One example is DRM wrapped digital files and streams. A
process used to limit the usage of digital content. Other options include copy
protected CD s, and products like Data Play, DVD Audio and SACD, which
basically only allow access of information to one specific user. On the commercial
side of the fight, record companies are beginning to offer much lower prices, new
legitimate digital services, as well as many special features like

HARLEM RENAISSANCE by William R. Nash ^ The term Harlem Renaissance
refers to the efflorescence of African American cultural production that occurred in
New York City in the 1920s and early 1930s. One sometimes sees Harlem
Renaissance used interchangeably with New Negro Renaissance, a term that includes
all African Americans, regardless of their location, who participated in this cultural
revolution. Followers of the New Negro dicta, which emphasized blacks inclusion in
and empowerment by American society, were undeniably spread throughout the
nation, and most major cities had pockets of the African American elite that W. E. B.
Du Bois dubbed the Talented Tenth. Nevertheless, New York City was, arguably, the

( Bettmann/Corbis) influence, Hughes encourages artists to embrace the
values of the low down folks, the masses of common people who furnish a wealth
of colorful, distinctive material for any artist because they still hold their own
individuality in the face of American standardizations. Only by doing this, he argues,
can the Negro artist treat the most complex and sensitive subjects in a manner that
distinguishes him individually and serves the race collectively. This interpretation
of the Renaissance, which celebrates African American art and life, and particularly
several prominent elements of the folk tradition for example, blues, jazz, spirituals,
and vernacular speech has long held sway among students of the era. In subsequent

J.R.R Tolkien and WWI Influence in The Lord of the Rings War has affected the
lives of people since the beginning of civilization. Even General Sherman, famous for
his March to the Sea in America s Civil War, was known for his saying, War is Hell.
That idea would only prove to be all too true for the soldiers of World War I
. J.R.R
Tolkien was among the young men that struggled for survival in the damp and
deplorable trenches as enemy fire hailed from the sky and bombs decimated the
terrain around them. Many soldiers returned home, physically and mentally
traumatized. J.R.R. Tolkien was no different, and returned home from the war
after losing two of his closest friends, suffering from trench fever, and struggling to
acclimate back into normal civilian life (Wood 7). The war left an imprint on him,
just as it did many other WWI writers, such as Ernest Hemingway and Robert
Graves (Ott 1). Tolkien used his writings as a way to escape his trauma, but the
scars followed him even into his mythopedia of Middle earth as he wrote The Lord
of the Rings. Sam, Frodo, and other characters, like Aragorn, suffered through
similar physical tribulations such as horrid sights of rotting corpses, as well as
emotional struggles, such as feelings of despair, similar to the soldiers of World War
I (Ott 5). The various emotional and physical vicissitudes that Sam and Frodo
encountered were similar to those suffered by
22. Jekyll And Mr Hyde And Society
The origin of an individual s identity can be easily linked to their genetics,
experiences, and environment. Society has a great impact when it comes to what
face a person shows on an everyday basis, forcing them to live a life of repression
due to their inner battle with their double consciousness. Moreover, it is but human
nature to yearn to be accepted by others, to fit in, and thus choices are made and
adaptation becomes normality. In the book The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr
Hydeby Robert Louis Stevenson, the film Mary Reilly directed by Stephen Frears,
and the film Fight Club directed by David Fincher the main characters identities
are but mental problematic puzzles which begin to alter their everyday existence,
alternating constantly from a realm of reality to an illusive one. Indeed, everyone
has the ability to choose who they want to be, yet for these individuals their
journey to finding their true selves and happiness got them more than what they
bargained for. To begin with, Jekyll, in Stevenson s book, lives behind a disguise
for years trying to embrace his civilized self and ignore his savage urges. The fear
of his mask falling off at any moment pushes Jekyll to create Hyde as his only
solution towards a sense of liberation. In Jekyll s mind his identity is being ripped
apart constantly making him and his alter ego, Hyde, perfect specimens, of a double
consciousness, of a divided self (Letley 10). In his statement about the case, Jekyll

23. Sexual Research Funding
Funding For Sexual Research
Resistance to sex research has caused large misunderstanding about our human
sexuality. This resistance has been shaped by our society s moral views. Our society
s perceptions have greatly influence the type of sexual research conducted and the
funding that has gone towards sexual research. This has overall influenced the
outcome of sexual research has had.
Society s perception on what men and women are supposed to do sexually has
largely effected sexual research funding. When Dr. Kinsey first sought funding for
sexual research people were hesitant at first but were intrigued enough to do a trail
investment. When Dr. Kinsey was first starting his research is was common for

Sexuality in our society is not something that is easy for most people to talk about.
Dr. Kinsey and his assistances showed how our human emotions can cause a listener
to react to a speaker when interviewing about intimate questions. For example, When
Dr. Kinsey s assistance were interviewing him and his wife about their sex histories
there were a couple times when the research assistance showed surprise on their face
when the speaker answered unpredictably. This can cause the speaker to feel
uncomfortable and change how they answer further questions. This happened when
Dr. Kinsey and his assistant were taking the history of a rather unpleasant man. The
man they were interviewing had sexual relations that were rather inappropriate for
society s moral views, such as having intimate relations with under aged children.
This caused the assistant to become uncomfortable and storm out. In reaction to the
assistant leaving the speakers answers slightly changed as the interview finished up.
Due to these sensitivity issues regarding sexual research, researchers have needed to
adjust experiments accordingly. If our society had less resistance regarding human
sexuality it would be easier for researchers to listen without reacting
24. Elements Of Macbeth And The Fall Of Man
The Fall of Man
The ancient Greek notion of tragedy concerned the fall of a great man, such as a
king, from a position of superiority to a position of humility on account of his
ambitious pride, or hubris. To the Greeks, such arrogance in human behavior was
punishable by terrible vengeance. The tragic hero was to be pitied in his fallen plight
but not necessarily forgiven: Greek tragedy frequently has a bleak outcome. Christian
drama, on the other hand, always offers a ray of hope; hence, Macbeth ends with the
coronation of Malcolm, a new leader who exhibits all the correct virtues for a king.
Macbeth exhibits elements that reflect the greatest Christian tragedy of all: the Fall
of Man. In the Genesis story, it is the weakness of Adam, persuaded by his wife
(who has in turn been seduced by the devil) which leads him to the proud assumption
that he can play God. But both stories offer room for hope: Christ will come to save
mankind precisely because mankind has made the wrong choice through his own free
will. In Christian terms, although Macbeth has acted tyrannically, criminally, and
sinfully, he is not entirely beyond redemption in heaven.
Fortune, Fate, and Free Will
Fortune is another word for chance. The ancient view of human affairs frequently
referred to the Wheel of Fortune, according to which human life was something of a
lottery. One could rise to the top of the wheel and enjoy the benefits of superiority,
but only for a while. With an unpredictable swing up

There are about 65 million scooter owners in India. Families are forced to pile onto
scooters, or make several trips to commute. Clearly, this is not an ideal form of
transportation for most people. However, the low income in India has prohibited
individuals from purchasing a vehicle than can cost more than $10,000. Is India s

In an article, No, No, No, Don t Follow Us, Thomas L. Friedman, who became the

There is no question that there is a demand for cheap cars in India and it will be
beneficial for their economy to produce cars to meet that demand. Once the people
s car is successful in India, India s market will grow when they begin exporting to
other fast growing markets where a relatively few percent of people own cars. Soon
India will not only be competing at the top of auto industry, but it will be competing
at the top with the innovative People s Car.
The People s Car will also provide reliable, cost efficient transportation to
consumers. Tata is planning to produce 250,000 People s Cars within the first year
(Giridharadas). Considering that India s middle class is almost 300 million, the
potential for sales is enormous. Profits will be made, leading to benefits for both
India and Tata Motors. Even if the profit margins are small, the numbers of products
being sold will generate a sufficient amount to make it worthwhile for Tata Motors.
To take Friedman s point of view into consideration, we will consider the fact that
cheaper cars will increase traffic and pollution. Isn t this inevitable? In this fast paced
world, everyone wants more. Let s consider asking Americans to give up their cars
for scooters or a bus ride everyday. How many of them would allow this? Very few. I

26. What Is The Meaning Of The Literary Analysis Of Psalm 42
Not only did psalm 42 stand out immediately to me for its literary elements within
the first verse, but for its poetic style and language as well. This psalm is a lyrical
one with plenty of emotion and literary figures. The latter ranges from similes to
parallelism and everything in between, all accumulating to form the psalm s
meaning. To begin with, I will point out that the psalm is told through first person
point of view. The speaker or persona is presentthroughout the entire psalm, using I
and my to describe his thoughts, feelings, and memories. One instance is in the
beginning stanzawhere he asks himself, [when] shall I come and behold the face of
God? (Ps. 42.2). Already this tells the reader that this will be a very personal
psalm, allowing insight into the speaker s mind. The speaker is filled with
anguish, but also strongly desires God s presence in his life. The setting of this
psalm takes place in both the past and present. In the past, the speaker mentions
how I went with the throng and led them in procession to the house of God
(Ps.42.4). The footnotes provide information about how the speaker recollects his
memories of the Temple, seemingly homesick for its protection. The present
location for the speaker is from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount
Mizar (Ps.42.6). As the footnotes point out, this is far from Jerusalem. God is
addressed directly in the psalm as the speaker declares that his soullongs for you, O
God, (Ps.42.1).

Non Citizens Should Have the Right to Vote
Tayler Gill
Ryerson University
Joerg Wittenbrinck Non Citizens should have the right to vote
According to Elections Canada (2011), the right to vote is a major equitable right
that is ensured by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It is the foundation
of democracy. When we vote, we pick the representatives who will make the laws and
strategies that represent how we live together. The authenticity of an administration
lies in the way that it is chosen. Low voter turnouts may call into inquiry the
legitimacy of authority. While democracy includes a great deal holding elections
every five years, voting is an effective approach to make an impression on
governments and legislators. The more votes, the more compelling the message is.
Ultimately, each vote counts. To vote in Canada at any level of government, you
must be a Canadian citizen. ( Why Should I Vote , 2011) As a result, masses of
adults who reside in Canada are denied the right to vote because they are not
Canadian citizens. There is no question that the status of citizenship has been
contested since the migration trend in Canada soared the past 20 years.
(Siemiatycki, 2011) These residents work, pay local taxes, use city services, send
their children to school but cannot vote. (Munro, 2008) Giving non citizens voting
rights would give permanent residents an opportunity to participate in decisions
made on local services and issues, fostering a sense of

Salt is the term used for compounds formed of ions of sodium, potassium and

John George Diefenbaker and Lester Bowles Pearson both acted as Prime Minister
of Canada during the Cold War. The two were from different Canadian political
parties that accorded to their beliefs and principles, Diefenbaker being a
Progressive Conservative party member and Pearson a Liberal. Diefenbaker was
leaning left as a Conservative, similarly to Eisenhower, who was presiding at the
time, and thus shared a fair relationship with him, though the same could not be said
for the US in general; Pearson s administration presided also along a Democratic
administration in the US, though they clashed often due to the American actions in
the Vietnam War. Diefenbaker was elected to office as his party held the greatest
proportion in the Parliament, however, he won only with a minority. During his
administration, Diefenbaker implemented policies that were considered liberal,
most of which he was able to pass, in contrast to Pearson, who only succeeded in
passing near half of his due to the majority he lacked most times in the House of
Commons. Both Diefenbaker and Pearson had political experience before they
became PMs, they also share a similarity in that they attempted to solidify Canada as
a nation and to remove the hyphenation in Canadian citizenship; both achieving
success in varying extents. However, Diefenbaker shared differing views on

That is a question that has several answers, but in Lorena s case she redefines what it
means to be Mexican American in the US by working hard to better herself and her
life. An example of Lorena bettering herself is when she set out to get a job that
would help her advance in her life instead of a job that is stereotypically done by
immigrants, ... in my situation, Hispanic people, we don t get office jobs. I was sure I
needed to go get a job at another meat market, or maybe helping clean houses, or
babysitting (Lorena, 195). Even though she faced so much self doubt about what
she was capable of doing, she went and explored her possibilities. That was just one
way that undocumented immigrants work harder to redefine being Mexican
American in the US. In the Valenzuela piece, it is more difficult to prove how Nelda
was trying to change what it meant to be Mexican American. Although, the author
does provide her own insight as to how Nelda makes that change to redefining
herself, the fact that she bore at least some of the emblems of Americanized speech,
dress, and interpersonal skills is a side note to a more central awakening within her
that helps explain her rapid transformation into a Chicana against the historical and
institutional odds of her doing so (Nelda,

The challenge relating to the custom procedures for the importation of water testing
was also due to the unclear of administrative procedures. The field investigator wanted
to import the water testing without paying import tax as the water tests were not
for profit. However, in order to be exempted from import tax, it requires a formal
signed agreement between a local origination and a foreign organisation indicating
that these tests are not for profit, the approvals at ministerial level on the formal
signed agreement. Because a formal signed agreement and a ministerial approval are
not available for the field research, the importation of the Coliplate tests is not
exempted from importation tax. The field investigator decided to pay tax to import
the water tests in time for the implementation of the field activities, and explore ways
to pursue tax claim later on. The local partner has helped the field investigator to
contact with Ministry of Finance for claiming the import tax return of the water tests.
However, it was replied that there is insufficient documents to prove that the field
investigator is eligible to claim import tax for the water tests.

will get bored easily and feel like I m wasting time if I don t have something to do.
But I don t like to feel tied down. If I spontaneously decide I want to go do
something else, I like to have that option. My grandmother on the other hand is the

reading books. I don t know why she insists that she be near the water, when she
will never even step outside once to look at the water. But it s what she likes to do.
And that s the whole point of vacation, getting some time that is just for you.

This interconnected network provides employees access to business stored data and
applications. Businesses that implement this model must purchases additional
hardware and upgrade components to scale up data storage and processing services
to support more users on the network [1]. Additionally, mandatory software upgrades
are required with traditional IT infrastructure to implement fail safe systems for
redundancy and mitigate risks for hardware failures. In house IT management is also
required in this model to monitor, maintain, upgrade, and deploy systems. One of the
key benefits is that it provides one of the most secure data hosting solutions and
allows companies to maintain full control of applications and data on local servers
[1]. This is very important for companies that store financial and medical sensitive
data as compliance requires very strict control of such files. Although traditional IT
provides flexibility on design and components, technology advancements and the
digital age have caused a massive shift to dependability/need for high performance
computing power that small/medium size businesses cannot afford. This in turn has
led to the rise of cloud computing to fill market needs with reliable, scalable, and cost
effective IT solutions. Cloud Computing: Secondly, it is important to understand the

The body form of an Eloi and their lifestyle is viewed very differently compared to
the Morlocks. The Eloi are little people, they are beautiful and fragile. Wells
suggests that the Eloi have more human traits than the Morlocks. He goes on to
explain the living conditions of an Eloi. They have several big palaces, great
dining halls and sleeping apartments (Wells 51). Similar to how humans live, this
passage suggests that although the place is falling apart, it is still a home to the
Eloi. The text gives us the sense that the Eloi is living in a utopian society where
their existence is similar to human traits. Humans do live in apartments, eat at the
dining places and have big cities. The comparison between the Morlocks form and
lifestyle is that the Morlocks do not wear clothing, which is very noticeable in
human society, also the text suggest that the Morlocks looks like apes. The text
also suggests that the Morlocks are savages in which they serve the Eloi, but in
return, they eat them. The text even goes on to suggest that the Morlocks are like
little monster who are attracted to darkness instead of light. Wells provides us with
a better description the Morlocks suggesting they are dull white, and had strange

To be sure, there were numerous black protests in the Americas as well. Revisionist
historian Herbert Aptheker has done an admirable job of refuting the claim of many
early white historians that slave rebellions were rare in the colonies, and that the
black slaves were docile, disinterested, or indifferent to freedom. Neither slave songs
nor folklore indicate that blacks either liked or were indifferent to slavery. Black
ancestors took advantage of every opportunity to make it clear that they were not

Negro frustration, Myrdal contended, was subliminated into emotionalism, and
Negro hopes were fixed on the afterworld. When Young considered black religious
leaders like David Walker, Nat Turner, Henry Highland Garnet, Henry McNeal
Turning, and others, he concluded that Myrdal was wrong. This is not to say that
every black religious gathering during the days of slavery or since was a seedbed of
revolution, nor that every black preacher was a Nat Turner. Yet there is considerable
evidence that, historically, black religion was more involved in sociopolitical
campaigns for black liberation than previously thought.
Historically, black religion has been concerned with freedom, liberation,
humanization, and the eradication of social evils in this world. Therefore, as opposed
to being fixated exclusively with spirituality and heaven, the black church has been
the vanguard of social, economic, and political activism within the black community.
