Personal Statement In Mechanical Engineering
If you do not believe you can do it then you have no chance at all , as quoted by
Arsene Wenger, one of the best sporting minds in the world. The above mentioned
statement served as a fuel for me in my academic career so far. My academic
career had many twists and turns, sometimes obstructing my way, but it actually
blessed me in disguise that latter I self realized that one should be content with his

succeeded them by doing fairly well than what I presumed before. It will always
serve as an inspiration for me and will lead as sole base to carry the expectations of

The Relationship Between War, Territory, And Arms Races
On...
As you look back into history you see that war is created for several different
reasons. In this paper I will be reviewing the relationship between war, territory, and
arms races on a dyadic level of analysis. Scholars have come to various conclusions
on different aspects of these two theories and I will discuss and evaluate a few
different perspectives or angles of each theory to see how they help contribute to the
creation of warbetween two interstates.
When examining the relationship between territoriality and war one might find
several different approaches to the connection between the two aspects. Territoryand
war have long been related between interstate wars for a long period of time. As you
take a look at past wars and how territory has played a major role in the escalation of
conflict you will find several different angles to the situations. One angle that has
shown vital data to relationship would be territorial contiguity between interstates.
When territory are contiguous to one another from past history it shows the
interstates are more likely to have disputes with one another. You could also
breakdown the terms of contiguity into proximity, interaction, and territoriality to get
an in depth view of a matter.
In Contiguity and Military Escalation in Major Power Rivalries the article discussed
the effect that contiguity has on nations decisions, particularly rivalry nations, of
escalating a conflict into war. The article broke down contiguity in terms based on

What Is Alcatraz False
Alcatraz, What is True and What is False
Alcatraz is a well known landmark that is shrouded in mystery. Many people think
they know everything about the tough as nails prison when really it is just a
Hollywood creation. Hollywood created the lie that The prison if horrible and all the
prisoners there are notorious villains.
Most people believe that Alcatraz was a horrible prison, but the prison is not as bad
as people believe. Many prisoners enjoyed their stay in Alcatraz compared to their
federal prisons. The one person per cell policy appealed to many prisoners because it
made them less vulnerable to attacks by their fellow inmates. Alcatraz also served

The Characters of Blanche and Stanley
1.1 Protagonist Blanche DuBois is the younger sister of Stella Kowalski. She
comes to visit Stella and her husband, Stanley at their small home in New Orleans.
Blanche is described as a Southern Belle that presents a tragic flaw stemmed from
her lack of self esteem. There are many words that can be used to describe Blanche;
however her most dominant traits are unstable, flirtatious, and deceitful. Blanche has
a devastating and scarring past in which her tragic flaw originates from. The
elements of love, sex, and death haunt her until she is unable to handle it any longer
and loses what is left of her sanity and sparks her unstable mind. To expatiate,
Blanche was once married to the love of her life, Allen Grey, until she found... Show

Though Blanche doesn t necessarily want Stanley, she still feeds off the attention
given to her. Though what Blanche does may be immoral, there is evidence of her
wanting to be clean and virtuous. Almost anytime Blanche s clothes are described,
they are white, an innocent color. The reader can see that Blanche wants to be the
virtuous person she often pretends to be.
It is clear that Blanche DuBois is willing to do what she believes is necessary to get
what she wants. This often includes deceit. She feels that she needs to lie about
herself in order to seem more appealing. Because Blanche is so afraid of aging, she
keeps her age to herself. While she is dating Mitch, she often deceives him by
never letting him see her in bright light in order to conceal her faded looks. When
she comes to New Orleans, Blanche does not tell her sister that she was fired from
her job; she says that she is merely taking a vacation from the job. She says this in
order to keep up the fake persona she holds. Blanche is very open about her lies
with her sister. I know I fib a good deal. After all, a woman s charm is fifty per cent
illusion, but when a thing is important I tell the truth. (69) This shows that Blanche s
lifelong choice of avoiding harsh realities leads to her breakdown. With all of the lies
and deceit Blanche tells, she is living an unreal existence.

Women s Rights, Equality, And Opportunities
Equality. The state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities. A
simple concept yet so hard to achieve between sexes. Throughout history women
have always been the minority and marginalized. They were thought of only being a
caregiver, that could not exemplify the same work ethic men did. Women were and
still are neglected the same rights men have. Since times have evolved women have
fought for the rights they have. Yet even in the year 2015, men are still considered to
be the superiority. Women are still denied the equality due to their gender.
Ever since the creation of religion women have been considered objects, that they
are made to bear the child and serve the husband. Biblical views were very
prominent in the formation of America and in today s society. You shall not covet
your neighbor s house, you shall not covet your neighbor s wife, or his male slave,
his female slave, his ox, his donkey or anything which belongs to your neighbor
(Exodus 20:17; Deuteronomy 5:21). In this section of the bible women are
considered property. Women are humans just like men and deserve to be treated as an
equal. Religion is one of the most common things taught as a child and by
demonstrating the sexist views. It teaches the new generations that women are not
people but objects to be owned.Due to these point of views men believe that they are
superior and that women should praise them. Religion one of the most followed
viewpoints since human existence

who they feel they can trust to help manage their finances, properties and to help
make their health and welfare decision. This is done through the power of attorney.
This act links to individuals who suffer with dementia as within the late stages of

Why Is Rodeo Important To Me Essay
Rodeo is my life. School plays a big role in my life with rodeo. If I dont have above a
2.0 GPA I can t rodeo because when you rodeo in high school it s considered a sport
in your school so you have to stay on top of your grades so that you can rodeo.
Balancing school and rodeo is pretty difficult, because you have to stay on your
grades and then you go home and practice for 3 hours every day and it s hard to find
time to do your homework. I have plans to rodeoprofessionally when i turn 18 and
make a living on rodeo, once you turn pro you buy your traveling card for $100 and
that lasts you a year and you have to renew it every year.
Rodeoing will take you places that you have never been before and it will give you
the opportunity to meet a bunch of new people. When i first started rodeoing it
was hard for me to just go out and meet people because i didn t really know
anything about them and it took me a while to get the courage and go introduce
myself and make new friends. After a few years of rodeoing i wouldn t have to go
introduce myself because people would come up to me and ask who i was because
i was doing so good in all my events. Most people are rude at first but once you get
to know them and hang out with them, you finally start to see the nice side of them. ...

The Pros And Cons Of Gulf Oil Spill
Gulf Oil spill vs. Three Mile Island disaster
Disasters made by error of a man made machines can lead to as much wreckage as
a hurricane or tornado. These lead to hurt in the communities that were affected, as
well as the economic state of the government. Man made disasters can also lead to
very critical change in the public s opinion on the use of the certain energy source.
If the opinion changes to being against the use of the power source, it can impact
the stock and profit the industry s make. On Wednesday March 28, 1979 in
Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, the Three Mile Island nuclear plant had a failure
in the cooling core in the #2 reactor. The TMI 2 reactor was destroyed and 13
million curies of radioactive gas was released into the air. 31 years later on April
20, 2010 the BP pipe 5000 feet beneath the oceans surface was leaking oil and gas.
This pipe would continue to pour oil and gas into the ocean for 87 days before
being capped off. The Gulf Oil Spill affected and continues to affect the citizens of
the United States of America and the ecosystems around the area more than Three
Mile Island disaster did because of the lives lost, amount of lives affected and
damage it did to the area. During a critical debate of whether or not nuclear energy
is safe and efficient to use the Three Mile island nuclear power plant was in effect on

Context Aware Technology In Health Care Essay
Healthcare is becoming a global issue while the world s population is expanding and
standard of living is rising. In 2011, according to United Nations Development
Programme s Human Development Index, Australia ranked second (Boslaugh, 2013).
Despite the overall good status of health, the improvement in healthcare is necessary
because the world witnessed a dramatic growth in the aging population as well as the
outbreak of the pandemics in the recent centuries. Not only that, these trends will
continue in the coming years. While the pressure on healthcare and social welfare

In another research, Preuveneers, Berbers Joosen (2013) stated the main factor
which makes individual feel completely being in control is good techniques of data
visualization. The approach and methods used by these authors are gathering data
day by day to filter for similar situations and scenarios of the past. Based on that, the
system can provide a suggestion for the diabetes patients to choose their insulin
dosage. Clearly, each strategy is suitable in difference situations but in general
context aware technology can be used to offer support for the decision making by the
ability of collecting data automatically. Without doubt, with the information overload
today, using context aware technology to support for decision making will outbreak
in near future not only in healthcare area but also in other fields such as business,
sports or even military. Most of the literature has focused on remote patient
monitoring. This is becoming vital in healthcare quality in recent years because of
the benefits that it brings. Preuveneers and Berbers (2008, p.177) highlight that a
context awareness application based on the native mobile frameworks can offer
support to individuals who suffer diabetes to make better choices or to manage their
health independently. As a result, these advantages may lead to a more pleasant life
for patients. The positive
Nine April Days Chapter Summary
The Appomattox, Nine April Days 1865 by Burke Davis describes in vivid detail the
last nine days of the Civil War. The book begins on April 1, 1865 and ends on April 9,
1865. It is made up of over 200 eyewitness accounts and over 20 main point of views.
There are nine chapters because each chapter is a description of one of the nine days.
The book starts out in the point of view of John Beauchamp Jones, who was a war
clerk. He talks about the 60,000 troops who have already deserted. The rebels are
in the process of packing up camp and moving, they have orders to burn anything
they leave behind so that the enemy does not acquire it. On April 2, the army of the
rebels began at Fort Mahone, one of the strongest forts the army had, and then were
attacked and forced to retreat once again. By the end of the day, the army had
traveled to Petersburg. On April 3, the confederates began at Fort Gilmer and by the
end of the day had traveled to Petersburg. On April 4, Robert E. Lee, the leader of the
rebels, begins at Goode s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

scenery after the war one being the fall of Richmond and another is of a dead
confederate gunner at Fort Mahone. The five page bibliography cites all the
books, newspapers, and magazines from which Burke received his information
from. For Pember, he used the artificial A Southern Woman s Story. Burke used
over 15 different sources for Lee s point of view alone. There is a very detailed and

Persuasive Essay On Helicopter Parenting
Raz is a 16 year old girl who was unable to make a tomato salad without my help.
Was she developmentally slow? No, her mother had taught her to stay away from the
kitchen so as not to get cut of burnt. She is not the only victim of helicopter
parenting. When parents are too involved in the life of their children, and try too hard
to protect them from reality, it can cause real harm. Helicopter parentingcan result in
adults who are unhappy and unprepared for life.
Lythcott Haims says Our job as a parent is to put ourselves out of a job . When we
are raising our children, we have to teach them how to be able to live
independently. It is our duty to make sure they have the skills and ability to
continue their lives without us. Do we want to have our grown children unable to
survive without our assistance? Are we ready to keep them at home forever?
Pewresearch.org states that as of 2016, 51% of Americans between 25 and 35 live
with their parents. The number has risen 5% since the 2000s. It has become more
normal for children to rely on their parents, even once they are adults. We cannot
leave them unprepared into their 30s! We, not only have the responsibility of
making sure that can physically take care of themselves, but also are responsible for
our children s psychological well being.
Even if you cannot bear the thought of having your baby leave you, think of their
psychological and mental health. College children who have been over parented are

Analysis Of Marvell s An Elegy Upon The Death Of My...
Marvell s earliest surviving verses lead to no conclusions about his religion and
politics as a student. Two of his works were published in 1637 by Cambridge poets
in honor of the birth of the first child of Charles I. One of the poems was in Greek
while the other Ad Regem Carolum Parodia in Latin, the latter of which is
considered to be a parody of Horace s Odes 1.2 in language, structure and meter.
Marvell praises the grandeur and fertility of the King in the wake of the plague in
Cambridge in 1636, mirroring Horace s hails of Agustus as the saviour during the
flood of Tiber. Marvell s Greek piece, on the other hand, claims that the birth of the
King s fifth child had exonerated the number five of all ill omens sincethere had
been many attempts to assassinate James I on 5 August 1600 and 5 November 1605.
An Elegy upon the Death of my Lord Francis Villiers was first published in the H.
M. Margoliouth edition (1927) from an apparently unique pamphlet left to the
Worcester College Library by George Clarke (1660 1736) with an ascription of the
poem to Marvell in Clarke s hand. Villiers (1629 1648), posthumous son of the
assassinated royal favorite George Villiers, first Duke of Buckingham, died in a
skirmish against Parliamentary forces. Here Marvell bemoans not just the death of a
Royalist, but makes a martyr of a Royalist killed in military action against the
revolutionary government. Fame had Much rather told How heavy Cromwell gnasht

The Military Decision Making Process Essay
The Military Decision Making Process The Military Decision Making Process
(MDMP) is a decision making model to assist military members in making sound
military decisions and to compile operation orders. This paper will describe
MDMP and apply it to a recent job related decision of the author; preparation for a
combat logistics patrol (CLP) while deployed in Iraq. The paper will identify the
steps in the model and describe how critical thinking impacted the decision. The
Steps of the Military Decision Making Process Step 1: receipt of the mission. The
first step of the MDMP is to receive the mission from higher headquarters, usually in

Step 3: course of action (COA) development. The first step of formal COA
development is to review and update facts, assumptions, and forces available that
were identified during mission analysis. The second step is to generate conceptual
possibilities to support the [mission] (Artillerization, n.d., Step 3: Course of Action
Development section, В¶ 1). It is recommended that several COAs be developed
during this step. During this step the author would identify which type of
equipment was needed to support the CLP to ensure that C3 was available
amongst the members of the CLP and between the leadership of the CLP and
higher headquarters. Step 4: COA analysis. This step analyzes each of the COAs
developed in the previous step. The heart of COA analysis is the war gaming
process . . . . (Artillerization, n.d., Step 4: Course of Action Analysis section, В¶ 1).
During this step, staff members come up with possible scenarios that could take
place during the execution of the mission. The author s contribution to the war
gaming was what would happen if a piece of C3 equipment or capability were
rendered unusable due to either malfunction or enemy action. Step 5: COA
comparison. After war gaming all COAs, the staff now conducts COA comparison to
select the COA that best supports the mission and commander s intent (Artillerization,
n.d., Step 5: Course of Action Comparison section, В¶ 1). It is the responsibility of

The City Of Glass And The Maltese Falcon
The two texts, The City of Glass and The Maltese Falcon, are both based on the
detective genre and within these are the basic characteristics of human beings in the
face of various external factors. With The Maltese Falcon oriented to the modernism
period, there are general expectations on the revelations of truth, time moving in a
chronological sequence, and character development to progress the plot. The City of
Glass on the other hand is a post modern novel and highlights many of the
characteristics of the creativity during that time, filled with non truths, compressed
time spaces and non progression. The plots are developed from two characters, Sam

is the second possible reason Polhaus is confused. In his belief of the closeness
between Spade and Archer, there has to be something Spade knows about the
circumstances surrounding Archer s death. Spade s rather dismissive manner is
discouraging for one to mention the subject. Indirectly, this points to the curious
nature of human beings where an event raises all sorts of questions and they hope
to get the first real truths from those most likely to know all of the necessary
details; in this case, Spade. Polhaus is at a loss for words because he is stopped
from making further inquiries by Spade. Spade s reaction may, therefore, not be so
much as being cold but rather defensive. He might be trying to avoid unnecessary
probing choosing rather keep his grief locked inside. The reaction by Spade points to
another human truth which can be seen from Brigid O Shaughnessy deception.
Deception implies the non disclosure of truth, but reveals things that are not as if they
were. Brigid comes into the picture when in that first chapter she speaks of her sister
with a sense of shame that both Spade and Archer can not help but notice and
empathize with. ...the girl
Feminism at the Concert
There s a concert. This gathering is surrounded by the everyday people of America.
Everyone is relishing something, whether it is the music, food, or seeing thrilling
people on stage or around them. All good things must end, however and suddenly, a
word is spoken after an astounding song: Feminism. The crowd goes quiet for one
second, then two, and eventually about five until someone shouts out HAHA THAT
MEANS YOU BURN BRAS. Now, flocks of onlookers boo, laugh, make
questionable jokes, or just say If feminists believe in equality, why isn t it called
humanism?
Now, many people may think that first paragraph was exaggerating. Duh, ever heard
of comedic irony? Anyway, what do people think when they hear the word feminism?
We can t really determine everyone s attitude on it, but there are close
approximations, like Oh, you mean that woman next door who doesn t shave? She s
gross... or Dang ol fem nazis, taking away men s rights and thinking they got any! .
Don t get me wrong, I am aware that their reputation isn t the most respected, with
gems like fifteen year old girls blogging about how a guy just looked at their general
direction, or saying that men should be inferior, but like politics, there are the good
and the bad in every branch.
Anyone want to learn more? Then let s learn a little about the role of a woman
before all this stuff even went up into debate. It s 1890. You re a little girlin Britain,

The Civil Rights Movement And African Americans
Hook : Imagine a world in which all men weren t created equal. A world where skin
color, ethnic origin, gender, and sexuality was what defined a person rather than
character. Quote : I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons
of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit together at the
table of brotherhood (King). Social Groups : Through the significant decades of the
1940s 1960s, America laid the groundwork for civil rights, a movement through
which minorities fought for equal opportunity. Groups that previously had been
submerged or subordinate began more forcefully and successfully to defend
themselves. The civil rights movement inspired African Americans, Native
Americans, women, queers, and Latinos to fight for equality. Thesis : Although each
social group faced their own unique challenges during the civil rights movement, each
group shared a common connection through their struggles for equality. Body

Americans and Native Americans grew with the Black Power movement of the

Summary Of The Newborns
The Queen retired to her chamber to rest. Her duty done. Sufficient eggs for the
next generation. It was now up to the wet nurses and Drones to divide them up.
The Elders took the best looking ones for their replacement stock and the rest were
sent to the nursery for rearing by the wet nurses. These were the replacement
workers and knowledge holders of the future. Karjon was one of those unlucky ones
who was to become a lowly knowledge holder and worker. But something must have
happened during his birth as he did not react well to the usual stimuli. He would not
stay still for his methane baths and he was continually moving around the centre
during his unconscious time. The wet nurses said he was a lively one and was
always wandering off.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case it worked. The Head Elder was nodding approvingly. He replied. An
interesting idea. If he matures into something useful for our Hive, then we may be
able to breed others like him. If not, he will be reclamated anyway. So no harm
done. This was how Karjon came to be. Like all the others in the nursery, he was
eventually sent to the Learning Centre where he was taught the general things he
needed to know to exist in the Hive. Naturally a big part of that was Religion. But
unlike the others, he was full of questions. The teachers did not like this. They had
never had to face such a student. Why do we have to bow to an Elder whenever he
walks past? It seems we are the ones doing all the work for the Hive, surely they
must bow to us. Karjon exclaimed one time. This brought on a tirade of Religious
fervour and a lecture of showing respect for your betters but for the rest of the
class, it did set them thinking. As far as these younglings were concerned the
Elders had done nothing to deserve their respect and admiration. For Karjon it was
yet another visit to the Head Master of the Learning Centre. After yet another lecture
and warning he was sent back to class. Karjon did not really take too much heed of
these warnings. He had been there plenty of times before with no real consequence,
this was no different. But upon leaving he did start to wonder why the Head Master

Synopsis Of The Movie There Will Be Blood
There Will Be Blood is a movie that was released in 2007. Paul Thomas Anderson
was the director and the screenwriter. Daniel Day Lewis plays Daniel Plainview,
Dillon Freasier plays HW, Paul Dano plays Eli Sunday. This movie shows that if
you let money control your life it can make you do bad things. This movie shows
that this man will kill, lie and forget everybody in his life to get more money. No one
can earn a million dollars honestly William Jennings Bryan.
There will be Blood is a drama, action, and mystery film. It is a mystery because you
never know what Daniel will do next. He does whatever it takes to make money
and find oil. This makes it an action movie because he will do anything to make
money including killing people, leaving his kid on a train, and getting oil on other
people s property. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was characterized in the movie in two ways, he was seen by the people as an
aggressive straight forward man, and a man of greed. To himself Daniel views
himself as a powerful man, someone who doesn t want anyone to have more
power than him. Daniel is a static character, he doesn t change and nothing
dramatic happens to him in the story that changes him in a way that would affect
how his attitude. For example after Daniel raises HW as his own he later tells him
he isn t his child and he never loved him. Throughout the movie Daniel shows
many different character traits, for example he shows love and compassion , for
HW when he was a child, fearlessness to his competition and enemies, determination
for his dreams and goals to become a reality, and lastly he shows he doesn t care
about the mistakes and crimes he made. Daniel Day Lewis s performance in the
movie is overall fantastic. The way he shows no emotion grabs watchers attention to
want to get inside his head to see what he s really thinking. He plays the part like he

Character Analysis Of Dee s Everyday Use
As one of the vital characters in Everyday Use, Dee characterizes what every
young adult finding themselves can relate to. She is very comfortable in her skin
as the story unfolds and is one that many cling to. Although very popular with
others she does not exhibit this same quality with her family. Soon after graduating
his school she leaves her family to find herself. She soon return different in many
ways starting with her new name. Soon we find that despite her many changes in
life she still had a place in her that so desperately longs for the things of her past. In
general in Everyday Use, as a new found woman Dee is focused on growing into a
new person, but still longs to connect with her heritage. Dee can be initially viewed as
a complex character throughout the short storyas she evolves to separate herself from
but soon returns looking to claim the things of the past she so desperately sought
to separate from. The character Dee can be defined as self centered. She displays
this initially during the burning of the first house. While her sister is trapped in
the house by fire and being rescued by her mother Dee stands far away merely
looking on. This speaks volumes to her lack of concern for others. Where the
average person in the same position may attempt to lend help or offer some sort of
assistance she clearly is only concerned about her own safe. This sets a clear tone
of the relationship between Dee and the other main characters in the story.
Similarly to a younger version of Dee when she returns home she has no regard for
others. When Dee returns home she immediately comes in and begins claiming
things that belong to other family members without concern for them or their
wanting of those items. This is most significantly noted in the mention of the quilt
that actually had been promised to Maggie. Despite already having been promised
to Maggie, Dee claims the quilt as her own then gives reason, which she somehow
feels are valid, as a way of staking claim of the quilt. ` Although Mama stood up for
Maggie during the attempted claiming of the quilt when Mama describes Dee we
can see that she almost excuses Dee for being the way she is. This notion is made
apparent as Mama starts by describing

Binary Opposition In Euripides
Binary Opposition in the Works of Euripides Binary opposition, as defined by
Corey Marvin simply describes a pair of theoretical opposites or thematic contrasts.
Euripides uses binary opposition as an effective literary device in both the Medea
and the Bacchae. One of the overarching dichotomies in both works is masculinity
versus femininity. In the Medea, the protagonist flips the genderroles, and in the
Bacchae, Dionysus androgynous nature allows him to often adopt a feminine persona
in the play. Many binary oppositions are encompassed in that of masculinity versus
femininity, a few of which are aggressiveness versus docility, intelligence versus
ignorance, and the understandable versus the mysterious. Medea exhibits typical...

These women, who are typically docile and reserved are the complete opposite
while worshiping Dionysus. They dance, make music and even hunt and kill
animals with their bare hands, (Bacchae 736 737). . it is the Bacchae who kill
Pentheus, dismissing forever the idea that they are purely domestic. As the
messenger relays, [a]ll the women, with blood spattered hands, were playing ball
with Pentheus flesh (1135). In the Medea, the dichotomy of intelligence versus
ignorance is shown when the protagonist s cunning is severely underestimated by
all those around her. Jason believes that she is foolish for carrying on as she does;
he says, [y]ou women have come to such a point to think, if things go right in bed,
you have everything, (569 570) but he misses that she is angry about her station in
life and intends to change it. As Shirley A Barlow explains in Stereotype and
Reversal in the Medea, The protagonist is aware of more than the fact that she
suffers and injustice. She is aware that the root cause is beyond herself. (Barlow
160). Creon seems to glimpse what she is capable of when he tells her that he fears
her (282), but he still allows her to stay in Corinth for one more day, (355 6)
proving that he is ignorant after all. Medea is far more clever than the men around
her and she knows how to manipulate them. When she appeals to Creon (340) and

Creatine s Performance Enhancing Athletic Performance

Muscle Candy If you ever wandered through a pharmacy, you may have seen
muscular bodybuilders checking out creatine (Cr) supplements. Many athletes
consume this supplement to build strength and enhance athletic performance,
especially towards physical efforts requiring energy bursts. Since English Olympians
initially brought attention to creatine s performance enhancing benefits at the 1992
Barcelona Games, creatine s popularity has skyrocketed. Its effectiveness is
supported by numerous scientific studies, including those suggesting benefits for
people with physical disabilities. The supplementation of Cr is proven in studies to
enhance athletic performance, although more studies have shown how Cr will boost
the strength of the physically and mentally disabled with limited side effects.
Creatine, a nitrogenous carboxylic acid, is produced internally in vertebrates or
consumed from exogenous sources such as fish or red meat. Cr is synthesized in a
two step process from three amino acids: arginine, glycine and methionine. Cr
synthesis begins in the kidney and pancreas from arginine and glycine. According to
Qasim and Mahmood, (2015), almost 90 95% of the total Cr in the human body is
stored in the skeletal muscles which take up Cr against a concentration gradient with
the aid of the sodium dependent Cr transporter 1. Cr is stored mainly in the skeleton
system, but also in muscle fibers, brain neurological system,
Pros And Cons Of Animal Adoption
In the world today, over four million animals are euthanized yearly. There are a few
different options on how someone can retrieve their new fur baby such as adopting
from a shelter and buying from a puppy store. There are plenty of pros and cons of
adopting and buying from stores such as saving animals, cheaper prices, finding what
s comfortable, supporting puppy mills, and foul treatment of animals. In order to
rescue and to stop supporting puppy mills that lead to indecent animals. I believe that
people should begin to stop shopping and to open their minds to adoption. Shelters
are always full of dogs and cats patiently waiting for their perfect owner to find
them, but most never make it out. There are No Kill Shelters and there are High Kill
Shelter and unfortunately most of those who enter the High Kill Shelters never make
it out. The major aspect about adopting is giving a loyal animala second chance at
life. A pro for adoption is the fact that you get to rescue an animal that may have been
next in line for the euthanasia list.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you plan on intending to buy a bully breed you must go through processing. This
involves plenty of interviews and questions to determine if you are the right fit for
the animal. The way this can go wrong is that you may not be selected to receive
the animal. Another way that can make adopting a pain is that you may not find
the breed you were intending on buying. This can make the process of retrieving
your furry friend much longer. Lastly, your new friend may reject you and turn out
completely different than you would have expected, but it takes time and patience
to learn about one another. The main exception of buying from a store is that you
are most likely going to get the breed you intend on getting right then and there.
Puppy stores usually do not scan like adoption centers do. So, you will be approved

Logarithms In The Pre-Calculator Era
In contemporary mathematics, the arithmetic computations that make up the
complex subject have been eased by the calculator, allowing for revolutionary
discoveries and endeavors by mathematical scholars. However, what can be said of
the conduct of mathematicians before the introduction of the calculator? I certainly
find it crucial to understand this, for the pre calculator era is what shaped the subject
into the core study of success. In the classroom the unit of trigonometrythe dynamic
analysis of the triangle and its properties is notorious for functions and operations that
rely heavily on the calculator. I know this from experience, but I also know that there
must have been a way to handle the aforementioned functions and
operations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, this is equivalent to the properties of logarithms in the modern day
classroom, without the Log Table of course. But, why is this important? The answer
is the same for logarithms as it is for the forgotten trigonometric functions: it was
easier and quicker for mathematicians and dilettantes at the time.
Understanding the conduct and purpose of pre calculator logarithms, it can be
applied to the infamous world of trigonometry. In her article Lamb states, Near the
angle Оё=0, cos(Оё) is very close to 1. (Lamb) Therefore, to perform certain
computations such as subtracting 1 from cos(Оё) would yield a very precise result
one that, without a calculator, would be nearly impossible to render. When
significant figures are taken into account (that is, the resulting number without
leading or trailing zeroes; a popular application in chemical sciences and advanced
mathematics), the level of complication can build drastically if only so many of
them are present in an answer. And while that may not be a problem in one s early
arithmetic, it can prove devastating later on.
But not only do the special trigonometric functions, which I will name shortly,
Business Ethics In The Movie A Christmas Carol
According to Omidyar Branson (2016), business ethics are called as corporate
ethics which is a set of rules that define the right and wrong behaviour. From the
research, ethics are a form of applied ethic that can be used to evaluate whether the
conduct of the people are considered acceptable and appropriate. Besides, business
ethics are the collective values of a business organization that can be used to evaluate
whether the behaviour of the collective members of the organization are considered
acceptable and appropriate. In the most basic term, a definition for business ethics
boils down to knowing the difference between right and wrong and choosing to do
what is right. A Christmas Carol(2009) is a 2009 Disney film adaptation of the Charles
Dickensnovella of the same name. It is directed by Robert Zemeckis and made by

Irony In Alexander Pope s Epistle
IRONY IN POPE S EPISTLES
Irony as a literary tool was utilized to its full potential by one of the most celebrated
poet and satirist of the eighteenth century, Alexander Pope. He choosed irony as the
prime instrument for his satiric hit as he found irony to be a more delighting and
amusing medium. Pope s ironic ability in writing was well reflected in his verse
satires, and his famous epistles. In his works, by means of his humor and wit, Pope
satirized the follies and foibles in men and in the aristocratic society of his time quite
vividly. As an eighteenth century writer, he realized that it was his responsibility to
impart to the society of his time, his well thought ideals, manners, beliefs ... Show

The very beginning lines of the epistle are ironic as it opens on a note of

speaker is again reflected in his attitude of being in awe, as he seems astounded by
the conduct of certain fictitious women. This ironic attitude gets reflected in the
statement Say, what can cause such impotence of mind? A spark too fickle, or a
Spouse too kind.
Moreover, as following the Horation tradition, Pope presents a series of portraits of
women beginning with the vicious ones to the noble ones. Irony is intended when
grandeur of language and expression is employed to depict the so called vicious
portraits as in Come then, the colors and the ground prepare! Dip in the Rainbow;

Essay on Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths
Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths
One of the fundamental questions that religions seek to answer is that of origin.
How was man put on earth? Why and from what was he created? Who created him?
What does his creation imply about the status of human beings? Some or all of these
questions are answered by a religion s creation stories. Every religion s creation
myths attempt to give solutions to problems present to that religious society. Because
of this, each religion may have one or more creation stories, each of those different
from one another in the questions they ask and the answers they give.
Genesis
In the Western world, the most well known creation story is in Genesis (Myth A), in
the Old Testament of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also in this chapter, man alone was created first, then animals, and then woman an
ordering that goes against that of Genesis I. Also, instead of creating man and
woman together, man was created first, from the dust of the ground after which God
breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Then, while Adam was sleeping, God
took from Adam one of his ribs and created Eve, or woman.
Another difference between the two versions of Creation, more noticeable than
the afore mentioned, is in their answer of why man was created. In Genesis I, man
was created to rule over all the animals. In fact, a section of Genesis I:26 reads and
let [man] have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and
over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth
upon the earth. In contrast, Genesis II:5 claims that man was created because there
was no one to till the ground. The variation in each chapter s answer to why man
was created provides differing implications for the status of mankind. In Genesis I,
man is supposed to be the supreme ruler, while in Genesis II, man was created
merely as a servant of the land. Western religions, when viewing the status of humans,
tend to take the first interpretation as indication of man s role on earth, believing him
to be superior to all other species.
Ignoring the inconsistencies, these two chapters seem to complement each other
quite well.
Naked Egg Lab Experiment
Naked Egg Lab
Frances Jose
Redmond High School Biology, Period 3

7 November 2014
Introduction
The objective of the Naked Egg Lab is to soak the egg in a solution and determine if
that solution is isotonic, hypertonic, or hypotonic in relation to the egg. A solution is a
mixture of two or more substances in which the molecules of the substances are
evenly distributed (Miller/Levine 2000). The substances in a solution are solutes, the
substance that is dissolved (Miller/Levine 2000), and solvents, the substance in which
the solute dissolves (Miller/Levine 2000). In this case, the egg will be put in a salt
water solution, where salt is the solute and water is the solvent. This lab is looking
for three different types of solutions; isotonic, hypertonic, and hypotonic. An isotonic
solution is when the concentration of two solutions is the same (Miller/Levine 2000).
When a solution has a higher concentration of solutes than the solution on the other
side of the membrane, it is hypertonic. Hypotonic solutions are the opposite, and have
a lesser concentration of solutes than the solution on the other side of the membrane.
Diffusion is the process by which molecules tend to move from an area where they
are more concentrated to an area ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the shell is finally gone, the egg will be placed in the salt water solution. Since
only water can move in and out of the egg, the semipermeable membrane allows for
an exploration for the concepts of diffusion and osmosis (Ryczkowski 2014). If the
solution is hypotonic, the egg s mass (quantitative data) will increase because the
water will pass from an area with high concentration (water), to an area with low
concentration (egg). It is predicted that the egg will gain mass and look larger
(qualitative data) because of

Country Rock History
COUNTRY AND JAZZ IN ROCK
At the end of the 1960s, when Rock and Roll were at its prime, two musical genres
that were originally considered its influences re imagined themselves through Rock
and Roll s prism Country and Jazz musicians started to mix their music with Rock s
relentless energy. The newfound genres, called Country Rock and JazzRock
respectively were accepted by the audience and critics alike, having a major impact
that is still traceable in today s music.
Musical genres can be often analyzed from two standpoints: the way the genre
approaches musical harmony and the genre s stylistics. There is Country with its
rudimentary melodic approach, which in a majority of times is merely a backdrop for
stories that cover themes such as love, freedom, religion, and, unsurprisingly, the
aspects of life in the countryside. A major part of Country s aesthetics is reached with
the use of very few recognizable instruments, such as fiddles and banjos. On the other
hand, we have Jazz, whose most renowned contributors were quite often creating
instrumental pieces exclusively, praising structural and melodic complexity as their
ultimate goals. Throughout its history, Jazz was moving in all directions,
experimenting with all sorts of instruments and musical movements.

Bharki Kher Six Women Essay
Constructed Views of the Female Body
Bharki Kher created the cast of Six Women from 2013 2015 using plasters of paris,
wood, and metal. A cast is a process in which a liquid is poured into a mold and
allowed to set into the desired shape, then broken out of the mold. They are life sized
sculptures of realistic female forms, smooth and white and almost easily overlooked
by how simplistic they are. When first looking over this artwork I did not know what
to think about it, but then I considered the fact that these depictions of human aging
bodies were constructed, and not by machine, but by human. Much like the topic
discussed in our lectures surrounding humanism, Kher s constructed the female aging
body to depict the culturally constructed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In conventional western discourses on sexuality the male is taken as active and the
female as passive, and in Kher s plaster construction of seated women she conveys the
constructed passivity of real women who are actually agents in their own life and
culture although they are subjected to the oppression of patriarchy.
The artwork of Six Women by Bharki Kher is a multiple cast art piece that was
made from 2013 2015. It is a composition of six nude female figures made of white
plaster, metal, and paris. They are simplistic life sized forms, uncolored, giving them
an almost unfinished air about them. Like a bare plaster wall you see in new houses.
The bodies show aging female figures, with saggy boobs and stomach rolls in
seated positions. Think about the women you see in media today; thin and flawless
with perky boobs, photoshopped to ideal expectations, gracing the covers of
magazines and commercials we see daily. When first looking at these women I
could not find meaning in the work, but after careful thought I realized the point
Kher was trying to get across, these are realistic female bodies. They contrast the
idea of women s bodies we are presented with in society with actual casts of human
bodies, flawed, aging but still

African Americans And Reconstruction Research Paper
During the 1860 s and 1890 s America was under reconstruction. With the
reconstruction, slaves became freedmen. America took on new territory of the
natives in the west. America tried to incorporate freed slaves and natives in the
American living. After the emancipation, southern blacks could engage in open
community building(1,455). Regardless of their living status, the blacks were
motivated and eager to learn. Ignorant though they may be, on account of long years
of oppression, they exhibit a desire to hear and to learn, that I never imagined,
reported by Reverend James Lynch(1,456). The progression of the blacks was the
most enduring initiatives of the Reconstruction era (1,457). Their learning facilities

A View From The Bridge Alfieri Essay
The Role of Alfieri in Miller s A View from the Bridge
Arthur Miller is now regarded as one of the world s greatest dramatists. In his plays
he explores the struggles of the ordinary man against authority and insurmountable
odds. It is his ability to dramatize the attempts to find the balance between the
different conflicts of life that is Miller s feature as a writer. Many of his plays look
at the position of the individual in relation to their responsibilities and position in
society and may be seen, as a result, to be political. (Tim Bezant.) While exploring
human faults he also talks about the hidden emotions within people. This is

Many of the immigrants were of illegal legacy and were being exploited by the
people who helped bring them to America and so consequently he further advanced
his knowledge of the community spirit in the slum areas of New York and the beliefs
and values of the Sicilian individuals.
During this time period, Miller had close associations with the families of the
dockworkers and to him, this was a dangerous and mysterious world at the water s
edge that drama and literature had never touched. In his autobiography Time bends he
narrates that a friend told him about a dream he had about an attraction he felt for his
cousin. When he interpreted the dream as an indication that the man might have
wanted an incestuous relationship with the girl the man was horrified and refused to
accept that there might be any truth in what Miller was saying.
In juxtaposition, the middle 20th century aphorised the exploration of Italian
immigrants, having come to America, as Miller s parents had done, in the hope of
work, wealth and security that their home countries could not guarantee. This was
due to the Second World War where countries in Europe were in financial trouble.
The war completely crippled the economics of the European Powers and it had also
shown that America was the most powerful country in the world a land of opportunity

  • 3. The Relationship Between War, Territory, And Arms Races On... As you look back into history you see that war is created for several different reasons. In this paper I will be reviewing the relationship between war, territory, and arms races on a dyadic level of analysis. Scholars have come to various conclusions on different aspects of these two theories and I will discuss and evaluate a few different perspectives or angles of each theory to see how they help contribute to the creation of warbetween two interstates. When examining the relationship between territoriality and war one might find several different approaches to the connection between the two aspects. Territoryand war have long been related between interstate wars for a long period of time. As you take a look at past wars and how territory has played a major role in the escalation of conflict you will find several different angles to the situations. One angle that has shown vital data to relationship would be territorial contiguity between interstates. When territory are contiguous to one another from past history it shows the interstates are more likely to have disputes with one another. You could also breakdown the terms of contiguity into proximity, interaction, and territoriality to get an in depth view of a matter. In Contiguity and Military Escalation in Major Power Rivalries the article discussed the effect that contiguity has on nations decisions, particularly rivalry nations, of escalating a conflict into war. The article broke down contiguity in terms based on

Though Blanche doesn t necessarily want Stanley, she still feeds off the attention given to her. Though what Blanche does may be immoral, there is evidence of her wanting to be clean and virtuous. Almost anytime Blanche s clothes are described, they are white, an innocent color. The reader can see that Blanche wants to be the virtuous person she often pretends to be. It is clear that Blanche DuBois is willing to do what she believes is necessary to get what she wants. This often includes deceit. She feels that she needs to lie about herself in order to seem more appealing. Because Blanche is so afraid of aging, she keeps her age to herself. While she is dating Mitch, she often deceives him by never letting him see her in bright light in order to conceal her faded looks. When she comes to New Orleans, Blanche does not tell her sister that she was fired from her job; she says that she is merely taking a vacation from the job. She says this in order to keep up the fake persona she holds. Blanche is very open about her lies with her sister. I know I fib a good deal. After all, a woman s charm is fifty per cent illusion, but when a thing is important I tell the truth. With all of the lies and deceit Blanche tells, she is living an unreal existence. 1.1.2 Changes Blanche DuBois has a deteriorating
  • 8. Women s Rights, Equality, And Opportunities Equality. The state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities. A simple concept yet so hard to achieve between sexes. Throughout history women have always been the minority and marginalized. They were thought of only being a caregiver, that could not exemplify the same work ethic men did. Women were and still are neglected the same rights men have. Since times have evolved women have fought for the rights they have. Yet even in the year 2015, men are still considered to be the superiority. Women are still denied the equality due to their gender. Ever since the creation of religion women have been considered objects, that they are made to bear the child and serve the husband. Biblical views were very prominent in the formation of America and in today s society. You shall not covet your neighbor s house, you shall not covet your neighbor s wife, or his male slave, his female slave, his ox, his donkey or anything which belongs to your neighbor (Exodus 20:17; Deuteronomy 5:21). In this section of the bible women are considered property. Women are humans just like men and deserve to be treated as an equal. Religion is one of the most common things taught as a child and by demonstrating the sexist views. It teaches the new generations that women are not people but objects to be owned.Due to these point of views men believe that they are superior and that women should praise them. Religion one of the most followed viewpoints since human existence

Two of his works were published in 1637 by Cambridge poets in honor of the birth of the first child of Charles I. One of the poems was in Greek while the other Ad Regem Carolum Parodia in Latin, the latter of which is considered to be a parody of Horace s Odes 1.2 in language, structure and meter. Marvell praises the grandeur and fertility of the King in the wake of the plague in Cambridge in 1636, mirroring Horace s hails of Agustus as the saviour during the flood of Tiber. Marvell s Greek piece, on the other hand, claims that the birth of the King s fifth child had exonerated the number five of all ill omens sincethere had been many attempts to assassinate James I on 5 August 1600 and 5 November 1605. An Elegy upon the Death of my Lord Francis Villiers was first published in the H. M. Margoliouth edition (1927) from an apparently unique pamphlet left to the Worcester College Library by George Clarke (1660 1736) with an ascription of the poem to Marvell in Clarke s hand. Villiers (1629 1648), posthumous son of the assassinated royal favorite George Villiers, first Duke of Buckingham, died in a skirmish against Parliamentary forces. Here Marvell bemoans not just the death of a Royalist, but makes a martyr of a Royalist killed in military action against the revolutionary government. • 19. The Military Decision Making Process Essay The Military Decision Making Process The Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) is a decision making model to assist military members in making sound military decisions and to compile operation orders. This paper will describe MDMP and apply it to a recent job related decision of the author; preparation for a combat logistics patrol (CLP) while deployed in Iraq. The paper will identify the steps in the model and describe how critical thinking impacted the decision. The Steps of the Military Decision Making Process Step 1: receipt of the mission. The second step is to generate conceptual possibilities to support the [mission] (Artillerization, n.d., Step 3: Course of Action Development section, В¶ 1). It is recommended that several COAs be developed during this step. During this step the author would identify which type of equipment was needed to support the CLP to ensure that C3 was available amongst the members of the CLP and between the leadership of the CLP and higher headquarters. Step 4: COA analysis. This step analyzes each of the COAs developed in the previous step. The heart of COA analysis is the war gaming process . . . . (Artillerization, n.d., Step 4: Course of Action Analysis section, В¶ 1). During this step, staff members come up with possible scenarios that could take place during the execution of the mission. The author s contribution to the war gaming was what would happen if a piece of C3 equipment or capability were rendered unusable due to either malfunction or enemy action. Step 5: COA comparison. After war gaming all COAs, the staff now conducts COA comparison to select the COA that best supports the mission and commander s intent (Artillerization, n.d., Step 5: Course of Action Comparison section, В¶ 1). It is the responsibility of all the staff

The City Of Glass And The Maltese Falcon The two texts, The City of Glass and The Maltese Falcon, are both based on the detective genre and within these are the basic characteristics of human beings in the face of various external factors. With The Maltese Falcon oriented to the modernism period, there are general expectations on the revelations of truth, time moving in a chronological sequence, and character development to progress the plot. The City of Glass on the other hand is a post modern novel and highlights many of the characteristics of the creativity during that time, filled with non truths, compressed time spaces and non progression. Spade s emotionless state deviates from those norms, leaving the reader to wonder why he was not upset by the sudden death of his partner. This assumed friendship is the second possible reason Polhaus is confused. In his belief of the closeness between Spade and Archer, there has to be something Spade knows about the circumstances surrounding Archer s death. Spade s rather dismissive manner is discouraging for one to mention the subject. Indirectly, this points to the curious nature of human beings where an event raises all sorts of questions and they hope to get the first real truths from those most likely to know all of the necessary details; in this case, Spade. Polhaus is at a loss for words because he is stopped from making further inquiries by Spade. Spade s reaction may, therefore, not be so much as being cold but rather defensive. He might be trying to avoid unnecessary probing choosing rather keep his grief locked inside. The reaction by Spade points to another human truth which can be seen from Brigid O Shaughnessy deception. Deception implies the non disclosure of truth, but reveals things that are not as if they were. These were the replacement workers and knowledge holders of the future. Karjon was one of those unlucky ones who was to become a lowly knowledge holder and worker. Like all the others in the nursery, he was eventually sent to the Learning Centre where he was taught the general things he needed to know to exist in the Hive. Naturally a big part of that was Religion. But unlike the others, he was full of questions. The teachers did not like this. They had never had to face such a student. Why do we have to bow to an Elder whenever he walks past? It seems we are the ones doing all the work for the Hive, surely they must bow to us. Karjon exclaimed one time. This brought on a tirade of Religious fervour and a lecture of showing respect for your betters but for the rest of the class, it did set them thinking. As far as these younglings were concerned the Elders had done nothing to deserve their respect and admiration. For Karjon it was yet another visit to the Head Master of the Learning Centre. She is very comfortable in her skin as the story unfolds and is one that many cling to. Although very popular with others she does not exhibit this same quality with her family. Soon after graduating his school she leaves her family to find herself. She soon return different in many ways starting with her new name. Soon we find that despite her many changes in life she still had a place in her that so desperately longs for the things of her past. In general in Everyday Use, as a new found woman Dee is focused on growing into a new person, but still longs to connect with her heritage. Dee can be initially viewed as a complex character throughout the short storyas she evolves to separate herself from but soon returns looking to claim the things of the past she so desperately sought to separate from. The character Dee can be defined as self centered. She displays this initially during the burning of the first house. While her sister is trapped in the house by fire and being rescued by her mother Dee stands far away merely looking on. This speaks volumes to her lack of concern for others. Where the average person in the same position may attempt to lend help or offer some sort of assistance she clearly is only concerned about her own safe. This sets a clear tone of the relationship between Dee and the other main characters in the story. Similarly to a younger version of Dee when she returns home she has no regard for others. When Dee returns home she immediately comes in and begins claiming things that belong to other family members without concern for them or their wanting of those items. This is most significantly noted in the mention of the quilt that actually had been promised to Maggie. Despite already having been promised to Maggie, Dee claims the quilt as her own then gives reason, which she somehow feels are valid, as a way of staking claim of the quilt. ` Although Mama stood up for Maggie during the attempted claiming of the quilt when Mama describes Dee we can see that she almost excuses Dee for being the way she is. Euripides uses binary opposition as an effective literary device in both the Medea and the Bacchae. One of the overarching dichotomies in both works is masculinity versus femininity. In the Medea, the protagonist flips the genderroles, and in the Bacchae, Dionysus androgynous nature allows him to often adopt a feminine persona in the play. February 24, 2016 Muscle Candy If you ever wandered through a pharmacy, you may have seen muscular bodybuilders checking out creatine (Cr) supplements. Many athletes consume this supplement to build strength and enhance athletic performance, especially towards physical efforts requiring energy bursts. Since English Olympians initially brought attention to creatine s performance enhancing benefits at the 1992 Barcelona Games, creatine s popularity has skyrocketed. Its effectiveness is supported by numerous scientific studies, including those suggesting benefits for people with physical disabilities. The supplementation of Cr is proven in studies to enhance athletic performance, although more studies have shown how Cr will boost the strength of the physically and mentally disabled with limited side effects. Creatine, a nitrogenous carboxylic acid, is produced internally in vertebrates or consumed from exogenous sources such as fish or red meat. Cr is synthesized in a two step process from three amino acids: arginine, glycine and methionine. Cr synthesis begins in the kidney and pancreas from arginine and glycine. According to Qasim and Mahmood, (2015), almost 90 95% of the total Cr in the human body is stored in the skeletal muscles which take up Cr against a concentration gradient with the aid of the sodium dependent Cr transporter 1. Cr is stored mainly in the skeleton system, but also in muscle fibers, brain neurological system,

Understanding the conduct and purpose of pre calculator logarithms, it can be applied to the infamous world of trigonometry. How was man put on earth? Why and from what was he created? Who created him? What does his creation imply about the status of human beings? Some or all of these questions are answered by a religion s creation stories. Every religion s creation myths attempt to give solutions to problems present to that religious society. Also in this chapter, man alone was created first, then animals, and then woman an ordering that goes against that of Genesis I. Also, instead of creating man and woman together, man was created first, from the dust of the ground after which God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Then, while Adam was sleeping, God took from Adam one of his ribs and created Eve, or woman. Another difference between the two versions of Creation, more noticeable than the afore mentioned, is in their answer of why man was created. In Genesis I, man was created to rule over all the animals. In fact, a section of Genesis I:26 reads and let [man] have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. In contrast, Genesis II:5 claims that man was created because there was no one to till the ground. The variation in each chapter s answer to why man was created provides differing implications for the status of mankind. In Genesis I, man is supposed to be the supreme ruler, while in Genesis II, man was created merely as a servant of the land. Western religions, when viewing the status of humans, tend to take the first interpretation as indication of man s role on earth, believing him to be superior to all other species. Ignoring the inconsistencies, these two chapters seem to complement each other quite well.

Naked Egg Lab Experiment Naked Egg Lab Frances Jose Redmond High School Biology, Period 3 Mrs. Sinclair 7 November 2014 Introduction The objective of the Naked Egg Lab is to soak the egg in a solution and determine if that solution is isotonic, hypertonic, or hypotonic in relation to the egg. A solution is a mixture of two or more substances in which the molecules of the substances are evenly distributed (Miller/Levine 2000). The substances in a solution are solutes, the substance that is dissolved (Miller/Levine 2000), and solvents, the substance in which the solute dissolves (Miller/Levine 2000). In this case, the egg will be put in a salt water solution, where salt is the solute and water is the solvent. This lab is looking for three different types of solutions; isotonic, hypertonic, and hypotonic. An isotonic solution is when the concentration of two solutions is the same (Miller/Levine 2000). When a solution has a higher concentration of solutes than the solution on the other side of the membrane, it is hypertonic. Country Rock History COUNTRY AND JAZZ IN ROCK At the end of the 1960s, when Rock and Roll were at its prime, two musical genres that were originally considered its influences re imagined themselves through Rock and Roll s prism Country and Jazz musicians started to mix their music with Rock s relentless energy. The newfound genres, called Country Rock and JazzRock respectively were accepted by the audience and critics alike, having a major impact that is still traceable in today s music. Musical genres can be often analyzed from two standpoints: the way the genre approaches musical harmony and the genre s stylistics. There is Country with its rudimentary melodic approach, which in a majority of times is merely a backdrop for stories that cover themes such as love, freedom, religion, and, unsurprisingly, the aspects of life in the countryside. A major part of Country s aesthetics is reached with the use of very few recognizable instruments, such as fiddles and banjos. On the other hand, we have Jazz, whose most renowned contributors were quite often creating instrumental pieces exclusively, praising structural and melodic complexity as their ultimate goals. Throughout its history, Jazz was moving in all directions, experimenting with all sorts of instruments and musical movements. We can see how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A cast is a process in which a liquid is poured into a mold and allowed to set into the desired shape, then broken out of the mold. They are life sized sculptures of realistic female forms, smooth and white and almost easily overlooked by how simplistic they are. When first looking over this artwork I did not know what to think about it, but then I considered the fact that these depictions of human aging bodies were constructed, and not by machine, but by human. In conventional western discourses on sexuality the male is taken as active and the female as passive, and in Kher s plaster construction of seated women she conveys the constructed passivity of real women who are actually agents in their own life and culture although they are subjected to the oppression of patriarchy. The artwork of Six Women by Bharki Kher is a multiple cast art piece that was made from 2013 2015. It is a composition of six nude female figures made of white plaster, metal, and paris. They are simplistic life sized forms, uncolored, giving them an almost unfinished air about them. Like a bare plaster wall you see in new houses. The bodies show aging female figures, with saggy boobs and stomach rolls in seated positions. Think about the women you see in media today; thin and flawless with perky boobs, photoshopped to ideal expectations, gracing the covers of magazines and commercials we see daily. When first looking at these women I could not find meaning in the work, but after careful thought I realized the point Kher was trying to get across, these are realistic female bodies. They contrast the idea of women s bodies we are presented with in society with actual casts of human bodies, flawed, aging but still

During this time period, Miller had close associations with the families of the dockworkers and to him, this was a dangerous and mysterious world at the water s edge that drama and literature had never touched. In his autobiography Time bends he narrates that a friend told him about a dream he had about an attraction he felt for his cousin. When he interpreted the dream as an indication that the man might have wanted an incestuous relationship with the girl the man was horrified and refused to accept that there might be any truth in what Miller was saying. In juxtaposition, the middle 20th century aphorised the exploration of Italian immigrants, having come to America, as Miller s parents had done, in the hope of work, wealth and security that their home countries could not guarantee.
