Writing A Literary Essay
Writing an essay on the subject of "Writing A Literary Essay" may appear deceptively
straightforward at first glance, but delving into the intricacies of this task reveals its inherent
challenges. Crafting a literary essay requires a multifaceted approach that goes beyond mere
summarization and demands a keen understanding of literary elements, critical analysis, and
effective communication.
One of the primary difficulties lies in the need for a deep comprehension of the chosen literary
work. Analyzing the nuances of characters, plot developments, themes, and stylistic devices
requires a careful and attentive reading. Interpreting the author's intentions and unraveling the
layers of meaning often requires a level of literary acumen that can be challenging to cultivate.
Moreover, constructing a coherent and compelling argument presents its own set of challenges.
Articulating a thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the analysis and aligning
subsequent paragraphs to support this central idea demand both creativity and logical reasoning.
Maintaining a balance between interpretation and evidence, while avoiding personal bias, adds
an additional layer of complexity to the writing process.
Additionally, navigating the intricacies of academic writing conventions and ensuring proper
citation of sources can be daunting for those unfamiliar with the conventions of literary analysis.
A writer must not only express their ideas coherently but also adhere to established standards,
such as MLA or APA formatting, to lend credibility to their work.
Furthermore, crafting an essay that captivates the reader requires a mastery of language and
rhetorical devices. Striking the right tone, employing effective transitions, and incorporating
eloquent prose are essential aspects that contribute to the overall quality of the essay. Balancing
analytical depth with engaging writing style poses a continuous challenge.
In conclusion, composing an essay on "Writing A Literary Essay" demands a blend of literary
insight, analytical prowess, adherence to academic standards, and a mastery of language.
Overcoming these challenges requires dedication, practice, and a commitment to honing one's
writing skills. For those seeking assistance in navigating the complexities of such essays, it's
worth exploring resources that provide expert guidance and support.

Mentor And Mentee Relationships From The Army
Mentor and Mentee Relationships in the Army
Matthew P. Styles
24 October 2017
Abstract
In this paper I will be discussing the dynamic and effects of the mentorship
relationship in relation to the Army. I will accomplish this by using Army doctrine
and personal experience. First I will explain mentorship as defined by the Army. I
will then discuss the characteristics of a mentorship relationship. I will cover the
basic principles to be used to define the relationship. Next I will discuss
considerations for the selection process for the mentor and mentee. Additionally, I
will cover expectations a mentee would have of their mentor and the responsibilities
of the mentor. I will clarify the four stages of mentorship, the application of them, ...

It is common for this to occur naturally without the relationship being formally
defined or initially acknowledged by either. The mentor will advise and counsel the
mentee on personal, professional, and career goals through the sharing of personal
experience, encouragement, feedback, and guidance. (FM 6 22, 2015)
Now that we have defined mentorship we can further define the relationship between
the mentor and mentee. As mentioned, mentorship should extend beyond the chain of
command. This is recommended so as to not create the image of favoritism within
your unit. (FM 6 22, 2015). Mentorship can easily be confused with leadership. It is
every Leader s responsibility to develop every Soldier within their ranks. If a Leader
chooses to be the mentor of one of their Soldiers, this could cross the professional
threshold and could be perceived as favoritism. If a mentor should not be a direct
Leader then how should one select a mentor? There are many things to consider
when selecting a mentor. A mentor should be someone that you look up to. It should
be someone that is not only respected by you but respected by others. A mentor
should be a person held in high regard amongst their seniors, peers, and subordinates.
They should display the Army Values and leader attributes. They do not have to share
the same occupational specialty, although it many times is the case. In many cases it
will be a

A legend for some, but for others reality, the Earth is, just like the other planets,
hollow and its cavity is a place where beings live, physically similar to humans. Their
physical and mental qualities, technology and a method of communication, as well as
ethical standards, are more progressive than ours.
The year is 1829. Fishermen, father, and son Jens and Olaf Jensen in the midst one
of their fisheries decided to sail further north, in search of the mythical land far
beyond the North Wind , inside of the Earth which is commonly known as Agartha.
Strange events happened, but they came to the land of their dreams, unimaginably
beautiful. Situated inside the Earth s hollow and lit up by the inner sun, this place is
a haven for species that vanished from Earth s surface long time ago. Hospitable and
friendly residents live for hundreds of years because of their healthy lifestyle, food,
and cohabitation with nature. Everything here is better, cleaner and bigger. People

The Implementation Of Structural Adjustment Programs
While recent austerity measures roused the ire of many in QuГ©bec, the concept is
far from novel in Jamaica. Entering into its fourth decade of austerity policy, the
island s expenditures on debt repayments are double that of health and education
combined. In response to the mounting global debt crisis of the late 1970s, the World
Bankand International Monetary Fund(IMF) set forth a series of prescriptions for
developing countries in the form of Structural Adjustment Programs (SAPs) upon
which the receipt of foreign aid is conditional. This paper seeks to analyze the effects
of those prescriptions on the urban poor in three dimensions. First, through a look at
the quality and accessibility of housing stock. Following that, a discussion of
currency reforms and nutrition status. Finally, a glimpse at how health services have
been impacted, followed by some brief policy recommendations. Throughout, this
paper illustrates that the implementation of structural adjustment programs has
downgraded the status of the urban poor in Jamaica through the persistence of
substandard, inaccessible housing, rising imported food costs coupled with rampant
malnutrition, and a pronounced decline in health care services. While access to clean
water and safe sanitation slowly spread across the world, conditions in Jamaica
remained unchanging under structural adjustment. As of 1991, twenty four per cent
of homes in the capital city of Kingston lacked sewer connections, while a full forty

Animal Lab Report
The purpose of this lab is to examine the internal organ systems of vertebrate that has
similar internal organ systems of a human. Additionally to be able to identify where
organs of the digestion, circulatory, and respiratory systems are located in a rat and
their function according to the rat s anatomy.
One is able to use rats as a specimen to study human anatomy, as the organs found in
a rat such as the heart, lungs, and the stomach, are also found in the human body.
Furthermore, it has been proved that humans has approximately 99% of the same
DNA as rodents especially mice (Speaking of research, 2016). Due to the similarly

works internally.

For an example, Norway rats prefer to eat foods high in protein such as pet food
and meat scraps, while Roof rats prefer fruits (Rat s diet, n.d.). Other similarity
between the species in their diet is their desire to eat sugar and foods high in
amounts of sugar. A difference between humans and rats is the number of
chromosomes they have. Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes, while rats have
21 pairs of chromosome as evolution occurs faster in rats than they do in humans
(Spencer, 2012). Additionally, rats can become the host for the tapeworm Taenia
taeniaformis while humans cannot. The Taenia taeniaformis causes the crystal
formation in the rat s liver resulting in it becoming enlarged. Another disease only
rats can get is chronic progressive nephrosis. Chronic progressive nephrosis
involves the inflammation of blood vessels in the rat s kidney. The disease is more
commonly found in older male rats. A rat may get the disease through gender,
genetics, and by salutary factors such as protein content and total calorie intake in
their diet (Quesenberry et al., 2011) A similarity between the two species is the
common diseases/disorders they can get such as hypertension, cataracts, obesity and
deafness (Melina, 2010). Finally, a vital difference between humans and rats are
body positions they natural use. A rat is a quadruped meaning they move on all four
legs, while humans are bipedalism, meaning they move on 2 legs instead of
Sports Coaches Research Paper
What is a coach? Webster dictionary says a person who teaches and trains athletes,
a person who teaches and trains the members of a sports team and makes decisions
about how the team plays games. What makes a good coach? Is it wins? Bobby
Knight has 902 wins and many question his coaching tactics. Becker*The all time
leader in NCAA basketball wins is Harry Statam of McKendree, he has 1,088 wins
but no national championships. Mike Kryyzewski has 1,018 win and 5 national
championships. So what makes one coachbetter than another? How and what criteria
can we use to measure? Can a coach with a losing record still be a good coach? Are
all coachingwith winning records good coaches?
The National Standards for Sport Coaches, much like the national standards for
teachers are a guide to all in sport leaders and should be followed. The standards
allow for each coach to individualize what they can do, but it supplies 8 domains and
40 standards that they must take into consideration when they develop a program or

Alaska or Bust: The Two Men That Believed Alaska Had All the Answers
As Christopher Johnson McCandless once said: The core of mans spirit comes
from new experiences (Krakauer, 57). Society has given the majority of the human
population a predetermined cookie cutter lifestyle for which they must follow in
order to be accepted. This includes which virtues to follow, how to interact with
others, and what is and what is it not acceptable. For many people, fitting into this
mold is the only way they know how to live, but for a select few, it is quite the
opposite. This small group of individuals dedicates their lives to living outside of
social norms and opposing others instructions of how to live their lives. They are

Timothy Treadwell, made famous after the biographical documentary Grizzly Man
was released, spent thirteen summers in Katmai National Park in Homer, Alaska
living amongst the region s wild brown bears before he was ultimately killed and
consumed by them. No one quite understood why he decided to spend so much
time with the dangerous carnivores, but onecan only speculate on the decisions that
led to his tragic end. He was believed to have suffered from alcoholism and drug
addiction. The self proclaimed bear whisperer not only yearned not only for a
connection with the bears, but many believed also for their acceptance. He devoted
his life trying to convince society that the bears needed his help, but there is
controversy as to if he did more bad than good in his so called efforts to aid in their
protection.
Formally known as Timothy Dexter, the young Timothy Treadwell from a middle
class family in Long Island, New York, was known to many as a struggling
aspiring actor who struggled with drug abuse and alcoholism. In his youth,
Treadwell was a gifted diver for his high school. His pure talent brought him a
scholarship to Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, as well as the ability to set
many records for his school that would remain to be untouched to this day. Right
before his junior year, he sustained a back injury that ultimately made him lose his
scholarship and ended his diving career. Unable to face the tragedy, he
The Relationship Between Troilus And Criseyde
The relationship between Troilus and Criseyde in Geoffrey Chaucer s adaptation
of their tragic love story notably hinges on the perception of Troilus s manhod. The
interpretation of Troilus as a feminized male character, and the consequent view
that he was not manly enough to keep Criseyde as his lover, exemplifies the
importance Chaucer places on gender roles in the poem. Troilus s passive nature, as
a result of his lovesickness, led to his failure to obey the normative masculine
patterns of behavior. His lack of action is ultimately the reason why his relationship
with Criseyde fails. While we know the tragic ending to their story is inevitable,
Chaucer s Troilus and Criseydepresents gender as a central cause for its ending. In the
first portrait of Troilus, Chaucer presents us with a manly young knight at ease with
his respectable and authoritative position:
This Troilus, as he was wont to gide
His yonge knyghtes, lad hem up and down
In thilke large temple on every side,
Beholding ay the ladies of the town,
Now here, now there; for no devocioun
Hadde he to non, to reven hym his reste,
But gan to preise and lakken whom hym leste (I. 183 189)
Troilus is represented here as a strong leader. He guides the knights through the
temple and gazes at the ladies of the town as he pleases. He mocks the other knights
who foolishly fall in love; Troilus is above that type of behavior. After the God of
Love shoots him with his arrow, Troilus becomes smitten with Criseyde in one
Electronic Commerce And E Commerce
E commerce Definition Electronic commerce or e commerce is a term for any type
of business, or commercial transaction, which involves the transfer of information
across the Internet. It is often associated exclusively with online consumer
shopping, but the term extends beyond that category. Additional businesses
covered under the umbrella of e commerce includes online auction sites, such as
EBay, and businesses that exchange both goods and services.[3] History The
history of e commerce is often contributed to Michael Aldrich. After a visit to a
local grocery store, Aldrich was inspired to build a new way to sell groceries. In 1979
he used a television, and a two way messaging platform, called Videotex, to design

This spearheaded the growth of the internet as a whole. [1,2] 1994 brought in the
next set of changes. Netscape Navigator was introduced this year. This was
significant because Netscape introduced encryption certificates. This encryption
made exchanges of all kinds online more secure, which was a barrier holding back
the growth of the e commerce, and the internet as a whole. 1994 also brought along
with it the creation of Yahoo! Although the domain name wasn t actually secured
until January of 1995. This was important because of how young and new the
internet was. Those who weren t deeply involved in the computers, and specifically
the internet, struggled to navigate the web and locate what they specifically
wanted. [2] The next year brought with it an online bookstore called Cadabra that
would quickly be changed to Amazon. Founded by Jeff Bezos, Amazon would go
on to pressure many brick and mortar bookstores out of business. Within their first
5 years of business, they expanded beyond simply selling books by also offering
things such as DVDs, video games, electronics, and even. They are currently a
Fortune 500 company, and the #1 online retailer bringing in approximate 79 billion
dollars in online revenue per year (as of 2014.) [1,4,10] 1995 was also the year that
Pierre Omidyar started what would grow to become EBay. EBay boast itself as the
world biggest marketplace. EBay s model was not that of a normal

For instance, Oji Okoro (2010) in his study, the relationship between FDI and
telecommunication growth in Nigeria, expounded that FDI influx boosted the
growth of the country s telecommunication sector tremendously. A host of research
has been carried out to investigate the significance of foreign direct investment on
the economy of Nigeria; however, most of these researches are concentrated on the
sector where the large chunk of these investments goes to the oil and gas sector.
The low level of foreign direct investment in the agricultural sector might be one
major reason why not much work has been done to analyze the impact of FDI in
Nigeria s agricultural sector. A sectorial analysis of cumulative foreign direct
investment in Nigeria from 1980 2007 is described in Figure 1. The major gap this

Self Disclosure Essay example
To disclose or not to disclose?, That question usually comes when you start a new
relationship with a friend, a boy friend, a new job or any new relationship, but
disclosing can also happen with people we have known for a long time or not.
Scholars define self disclosure as sharing information with others that they would
not normally know or discover, but I feel like each person has his or her own way
of defining what self closure is. To me, self disclosure is letting myself go and
trusting the person I am disclosing to, it involves risk and vulnerability on my part
sharing important information to someone. Therefore I go back to the question I
posed before, do I trust this person or not, do I love this person to feel my

To him it was very easy to disclose private information about him and his family.
Since one of us was more disclosing it became a challenge in our relationship, as
time went by I learned to trust him, let him know my vulnerability and I took a risk
of opening to him. It turned out to be a very and happy relationship where I
allowed myself to let go and have someone I can talk to things that I would not want
to bother my mother with. and also allowed myself to let him know of my deepest
fears and my inner most feelings When it comes to self disclosure at work, I am not
one to disclose to my co workers since I feel like my private life and my work place
are two different entities and what I may tell my co worker can be used against me
one day, therefore I disclose as less as possible. The realizations I have on self
disclosure is that, it is one way of letting my self go. Letting another human being
know my inner most feelings and my fears. I am a very private person and I tend to
not say much about myself unless I know the person very well. I tend to not to like
people who disclose a lot of information to me mainly if we do not have a very close
relationship, because to me that means I also have to let them in on some of my
inner most feelings. I feel like even if they are a lot of advantages to self

10 Rules for Creating Successful Power Point Presentations
I ve blogged many times on how NOT to use Power Point. Most people use it
incorrectly, and it becomes a barrier between speaker and audience. For example,
they create word slides, really speaker notes, with many bullets of text, expecting
what? the audience to read along with them? Or, they go nuts with the animation,
swoops, and flying headlines that make audiences dizzy to little purpose. Or they use
cheap looking clip art that creates a tacky image of speaker and organization in the
mind of the audience.

Applying Plain Packaging On Cigarette Cases Essay
With the looming possibility of implementing plain packaging on cigarette cases, the
lobbyist involved uses certain facts to shed light on the seemingly hidden
implications of the plain packaging policy. The main concern of the lobbyist and the
advantage point lies within how uninformed the general populous is. The lobbyist
essentially claims that the plain packaging policy has no proof of being an effective
method of diminishing the number of smokers. Though the lobbyist asserts that it is
invalid, this research essay will introduce compelling evidence and experimental data
that suggests that the notion behind the plain packaging policy is actually an
efficient method for minimizing the popularity of smoking. This paper will also
look at opposing points of views that argue otherwise and the issue with their
allegations. Before analyzing academic sources that convey the effectiveness of plain
packaging, it is crucial to understand what plain packaging is and how it works.
Harry Clarke and David Pentice s article describes plain packaging as the removal of
all aesthetic features from tobacco packages. Strictly speaking, a set of explicit
specifications determines what a package must have to be considered plain packaged.
Some of these specifications include changing brightly colored cigarette packs to
packages that contain standardized drab dark brown [colors,] with trade names in a
standard font (Clarke and Pentice). Furthermore, instead of allowing graphic content

Then there is the Internal Revenue act of 1861, which increased income tax rate.
This assured us that the government would have a, reliable source of income to pay

Revenue act of 1862 and 1864, which allowed for progressive tax bracket. This act
had a tax system that put a tax on everything, for example, medicines, yachts, and
etc. The Morril tariff Act of 1860 and 1861 was a reform in which the tax was

Several children with Morquio disease are detected with orthopedic disorders
containing: scoliosis, kyphosis, skeletal dysplasia, narrow chest, joint conditions and
leg deformities. In some cases, these conditions are present at birth and can be treated

Characterism In Gabriel Marquez s Death Constant Beyond
Love
Gabriel Marquez witnessed a great deal of tragedy when his home country of
Columbia was going through a civil war. On April 9th, 1948 Jorge Eliezer Gaitan, a
Liberal party leader, was murdered in Bogota. According to Zaida and Laurent, This
incident plunged Columbia into a decade of violence and upheaval that would
become known at La Violencia. This event had a profound effect on Marquez. In
fact, much of what he wrote about was inspired by politics and Latin Americas
problems during this time. On a more fictional note, Marquez was also inspired by
mystical, fantasy stories that his grandmother told him when he was a boy. By the
same token, May writes, From the influences of his early childhood, when he
learned from his grandmother how to tell the most fantastic stories in matter of fact
tone, to his later observations of the oppression and cruelties of politics, Garcia
Marquez captures the everyday life of the amazing people of coastal Columbia. Also,
in much of his work, he incorporates common themes of death, fate, solitude, loveand
power. In Death Constant Beyond Love Gabriel Marquez combines these serious,
tragic themes with his signature style of magical realism to tell a story about a
Columbian political leader who encounters death, fate solitude, love, and power. First,
in the story, the most obvious tragedyis Sanchez s impending death which he
tragically chooses to face alone. Sanchez has been told by doctors that he will be
dead forever by next Christmas (Puchner, 988). Although Sanchez knows that his
death is coming, he chooses to carry on with life as normal which tells the reader
that he is still trying to enjoy life and hold onto his dignity. This type of character
is often present in Marquez s stories. May explains that His characters experience
the magic and joy of life and face the suffering of solitude and isolation but always
with an innate dignity. When Sanchez is about to take a nap he places a rose in
water as an effort to preserve it, which is an indication that he has a desire to enjoy
the beauty of the rose as long as he can. As he prepares to nap he explains that he is,
making a great effort at mental distraction so as not to think about death while he

The goal is to separate the regional trends and residual anomalies. The digital
separation processes sometimes involve the transformation of data from the space
domain into the wave number (Fourier) domain. This filtering process requires
specific geophysical software such as the MAGMAP product from Oasis Montaj .
The filtering algorithm applied to the gravity map was a band pass filter to find
intermediatewavelength gravity anomalies. These anomalies represent deep seated
geologic units and structural configurations (Figure 2). Meanwhile, the upward
continuation filter for 1 km was applied on the aeromagnetic map to eliminate the
noise from shallow magnetic sources. The result represents magnetic bodies at a
significant depth below the surface (Figure 3).

Data Integration With GIS and Some Concerns
Geophysical processing software usually lacks GIS functionality. Spatial analysis is
much easier when done in a GIS environment. Transformation of geophysical images
to a GIS format can be as simple as exporting the images that contain spatial
information into geoTIFF format. In a GIS analysis, geophysical images are often
treated as a type of evidence map, the same as other thematic maps such as mineral
Ending Human Essay
The year is 2056. New advancements in biomedical technology created by Carl
Hammen have created huge companies that have more power than usual. Jason
Rove is head of security of one such company, Firus industries which is located in
Houston TX. Jason is a tall, muscular, and a dark looking man of age 30. He
always has his hair up in a thrown off spike with a thin beard lining the bottom of
his face. His wife is Alexandria Rove who is Firus s top scientist. The NHO (natural

that the mechanized human bodypart replacements don t actually help people and the
human body rejects the limbs.

floors. Two men with NHO tags on their shoulders were beating on the door to the
lounge. Jason quietly snuck up behind them, lined up a shot with the skull of the
one on the left and pulled the trigger. Boom! Dead. The other man whipped around
but Jason was quick and tackled him. A long struggle ended with the sickening pop
of the soldiers neck. Jason typed in a passcode and the lounge door squeaked open.
Oh thank God! Jason heard a familiar voice say from inside the lounge. He was
suddenly embraced by his wife. She let go of him after a few seconds. Sorry a
deep voice said menacingly behind Jason. Suddenly a sharp pain in Jason s right

The Importance Of Names In Song Of Solomon
People choose names for a reason, whether it is so that the child takes on a certain
personality, based on who they are named after, or so that he or she may carry on
the name of a beloved family member. Many names that are popular today are
names from the Bible, since most of the biblical characters possess characteristics
that parents would want their child to have. Names like Noah, Jacob, David, and
Miriam, are names currently in the top 1000 child names in the world, and they are
all biblical names. Names from the Bibleare also found in many works of literature,
like Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, a coming of age story about a young man
during the mid twentieth century. The reader is introduced to multiple characters
with biblical names, which correspond to the characters personalities. In the book
Song of Solomon, the characters take on the role of their biblical names. Reba,
Milkman s mother, can most closely be associated with Rebecca from the Bible, as
their names are nearly identical. In the Bible, Rebecca is known for her loyalty and
devotion to her son Jacob, whom she favors over her other son, Esau. She willingly
ruins her relationship to one of her sons and also her husband, Isaac, both of which
she loves dearly. In Song of Solomon, Reba cherishes her daughter Hagar, and
makes sacrifices to please her, one of which includes the donation of her diamond
ring, which she miraculously wins when she walks into a Sears store. The winning of
the ring shows Reba s
Women During The Revolutionary War
Women serving in the military is a topic that most people have very strong
convictions on. Rather you are for or against women serving, you can find strong
opinions that support both sides in this contentious dispute. Women have struggled to
fit into the military life for years. Even though woman have fought alongside men in
each key battle from the start of the American Revolution, they still find it hard to
shake the stereo types about womanwho serve. Woman have always had to cloak
themselves in a masquerade of sorts to serve alongside men. When woman were
finally accepted into the military, they were given secondary roles to the men. The
Pentagon has just recently began to realize that gender really do not matter on the
battlefield. Since the Pentagons enlightenment, one can now see progress in the
integration of women in all expanding military careers. Women have always proven
that they are not only an asset to the military but they are the strength of the America
s military.
Revolutionary War Times
During the Revolutionary War, women played major roles in combat. From
supportive positions like maids, cooks and nurses to auxiliary roles such as spies or
secret soldiers. The Daughters of Liberty did more than their share to help win
America s independence. Deborah Samson Gannett, from Plymouth, Massachusetts,
concealed herself as a soldier named Robert Shurtlieff Samson. Robert was the name
of her now deceased brother. (Wienkop) Deborah came from a very poor family
Examples Of Worthy And Unworthy Worship
a. The Worthy and Unworthy Worship
Worship is about God and for the glorification of His name; it is a celebration of
love that gives life and empowering to His people, who worship Him in
righteousness through obedience. Specifically, worship involves abandoning oneself
to God as an offering that is being represented by his sacrifice to atone for his sin.
Significantly, people come to His presence to verbalize their deep affection for Him
through such an ardent worship. The Bible delineates that God shows unreserved
favor to those who faithfully love Him with all their heart, soul, and strength
(Deuteronomy 6:5); but on the other hand, God hates and curses those who do not
love Him and worship Him selfishly.

They would normally hear His voice to give them divine guidance, warning and
instructions on how they should live, worship and maintain their relationship with
Him. (Genesis 4:7). Adam and Eve loved and feared God; thus, Cain and Abel learned
and developed their faith through their teachings and instructions. (Romans 10:17)
Furthermore, they were trained properly to worship God through an offering.
An excellent example of worthy and unworthy worship in the Old Testament is
that of Cain and Abel since it is the first arresting message of God in Genesis after
the fall man and persuasively an essential message of redemption. Both Cain and
Abel worshiped God but approach it differently. Remarkably, Abel loved and feared
God most of all in his life that he carefully obeyed all His instructions and
requirements for worship, while Cain selfishly worshiped God according to His will
and presumptions. Abel, in awe of his creator, offered God the best firstlings of his
flocks and their fat portions. The aroma of Abel s offering reached God and was well
pleased and honored. As a result, God accepted Abel and his love offering and

operating in a new space that is challenging the status quo of several industries. This
new industry is video streaming. Key players within the video streaming industry

Although, Netflix has dominated the industry for the past decade, its key
competitors have the potential to surpass Netflix. Streaming services like Amazon
Prime and Hulu, also have a strong brand name and brand equity. Although, Netflix
still leads the pack in terms of members, its competitors still have a strong and
growing customer base (Christian and Spooner, 2017). Currently, each streaming
service offers and produces original content. Amazon is nearly doubling its budget
for content (Low, 2016). Also, the growth in technology and e commerce translates
into revenue growth for Netflix s key competitors. Netflix s projected 2016 revenue
was $8.8 billion compared to Amazon s $136.8 billion (Low, 2016). Thus, Netflix
shares many of its key core competencies with its competitors.
One core competency of issue is revenue growth. The continual investment in
premium original content is costly. Netflix is spending more to expand its
streaming services in nearly every country. However, the company s investment in
more original shows is deteriorating its free cash flow. Netflix is currently on the

(Bloomberg News, 2016). This is nearly double Netflix s revenue for the last 12
British Petroleum As A Company
Intro and Background
British Petroleum as a company was founded in 1954, however its roots go back
another half century. British geologists discovered oil underneath Iran in 1908 and
by 1909 the Anglo Persian Oil Company (APOC) began drilling for the British
government. APOC benefited from World War I as it was predicted all British
naval ships will soon be converted from coal to oil and the company could spread
further into Europe. Refineries were built in Whales, Scotland and were bought in
France and Australia. In 1935, APOC was officially changed to Anglo Iranian Oil
Company (AIOC) due to Persia being referred to as Iran.
World War II gave rise to nationalism inside the Arab countries including Iran. The
Iranian government in 1951 obtained control of the Iranian oil industry forming the
National Iranian Oil Company and consequently pushing out the AIOC. The
American and British governments worked to over throw the Iranian government in
1953 to regain control of oil in Iran. AIOC became the British Petroleum Company
(BP) in 1954 after a holding company Iranian Oil Participants (IOP) brought Iranian
oil back to the western market. BP expanded into Canada, Libya and the United
States by buying out existing companies and was the first oil company to strike oil in
the North Sea.
Known for its risky business ventures, BP quickly became the world s third largest
oil company by acquiring other oil companies such as the Standard Oil of Ohio and
Amoco. The company s rapid
To Build A Fire Analysis
The environment greatly influenced the man from To Build a Fire and Craig
Johnson. In both stories, the temperature was below zero. The article about the
Alaskan man says, A man in Alaska says it s a miracle that he survived three days
in the wilderness while battling sub zero temperatures (News). Similarly, in To Build
a Fire states, ...it was colder than 60 below, than seventy below. It was 75 below zero.
(London,66). This shows that both texts had a man that struggled against the harsh
weather. However, the man from To Build a Fire was in the Yukon
and Craig Johnson
was in Alaska. London, the author of To Build a Fire says, Day had dawned cold and
gray when the man turned aside from the main Yukon trail. (London 64). In contrast

In To Build a Fire the dog and the man did not have a strong relationship. There was
no real bond between the dog and he man. The one was the slave of the other. The

well being of the man. The man and the dog in To Build a Fire did not have a
strong bond. Similar to the Craig Johnson article, the man and the wolverine did
not have a bond at all. In his icy clothes, Johnson walked 30 miles searching for
help while being stalked by a wolverine. You could hear it on the ice, just playing
with me, toying with me, he said. After warning shots failed to scare off the
animal, Johnson said he used a stick to defend himself. Craig Johnson was nothing
but a snack to the wolverine therefore there was no bond between the animal and
the man. However, the dog in To Build A Fire did not try to harm the man in
anyway. At the end of the story in To Build A Fire the man had passed due to the
cold weather. The dog did not think about eating the man while he laid in the snow
lifeless. The story states, And still later it moved close to the man and caught the
smell of death. This made the animal back away. This shows that the dog was not
interested in the man anymore because he was then
An Analysis Of The EGP, Border Gateway Protocol
Moving away from IGP, now I will discuss the one and only EGP standard used
over the Internet, the BGP, Border Gateway Protocol, each version is just a slight
enhancement over the previous one. As mentioned before an EGP s purpose is to
connect one autonomous system to a different autonomous system and version 4
has been updated to accept classless domains as well as support for IPv6. It also
introduces a system to cut back on the amount of routing tables needed for a network
and can support most polices due to the internet being a hop count like routing
model, and BGP 4 supports hop counts. Not only that, it is a reliable protocol because
it uses the Transmission Control Protocol from the Transport Layer, which eliminates
the need for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The autonomous systems use BGP to be visible to networks outside of it s on AS,
each AS is allowed to create its own policy, allowing for the way in which the
information should be routed. And lastly, because each autonomous system has its
own set of protocols, the IGP, where one or more is used to discover the
connections inside that network. (Lammle 928) I see it as everything as its own
responsibility within, allowing for BGP which is both versatile and flexible to
meet the demands of the packets that need to be forwarded, because everything has
its own task and its own set of rules making the procedure orderly and efficient. The
only similarity that RIP and BGP have is that they are routing protocols and route
information by using an algorithm to send the packets, otherwise they are
different in many aspects. One of the biggest differences between RIP and BGP is
that RIP is an IGP and BGP is an EGP, but you can say they work together to get
their task done. If information from an autonomous system that has RIP needs to
send information to another autonomous within its limit of 15 hop counts, BGP
helps to bridge that gap. The other biggest difference is RIP is a simple protocol
meant for the use of a small network, while BGP is vast and a highly complex
protocol that can be considered as the management system of transferring data of
numerous amounts of autonomous systems. BGP can also be seen as the major
backbone

The Glory Field By Walter Dean Myers
The Glory Field by Walter Dean Myers best conveys the character traits of courage,
ambitiousness, and supporting family even when times appear to be distressful.
This book takes you through African American history with the excitement and
thrill of fiction. It allows you to witness the glory of African American evolution,
from a period of slavery to modern day. The reader witnesses courage as African
Americans try and fight for freedom and equality in an unforgiving society. African
Americans try and defy the society s perspective of them in an attempt to reach an
optimal level of success. They work to divert from their typical expectations, and
strive for success even when the possibilities are minimal. They strive to build a
better living besides being maids and factory workers, and they attempt to remove
every obstacle in their way of success. They desire to go above what is expected of
them, so they can achieve at a prodigious level in a segregated society. Even as
technology advances, the reader witnesses the character s sense of community. They
always believe that family is crucial to success even in times of distress. If they
abandon their community, then they abandon the only people that support them. In
this time period, their community was composed of the only people that cared about
them. The African Americansociety emulates these traits throughout this book, as the
author inserts you into their fight for equity and freedom. The Glory Field takes

According to his critics, the word nothing is regarded as one of the most favourite
words by Shakespeare and he uses it in innumerable ways in his plays. For example,
in The Winter s Tale when Leontes suspects his wife, Hermione s character, he says:
Is whispering nothing?
Is leaning cheek to cheek? is meeting noses?
Kissing with inside lip? stopping the career
Of laughing with a sigh? a note infallible
Of breaking honesty horsing foot on foot?
Skulking in corners? wishing clocks more swift?
Hours, minutes? noon, midnight? and all eyes
Blind with the pin and web but theirs, theirs only,
That would unseen be wicked? is this nothing?
Why, then the world and all that s in t is nothing;
The covering sky is nothing; Bohemia nothing;
My wife is nothing; nor nothing have these nothings,
If this be nothing (I.ii.292 96).

The Risks Of Long Distance Human Spaceflight
Upon the consideration of long distance human spaceflight, the risk management plan
in correspondence must prepare the crew members before and during the mission,
for risks which may or may not occur, in the isolated confines of space. Specifically,
the risks of meteoroid impacts, malnutrition, and contamination were observed and
their effects on the psychological and physical health of the crew members was
detailed. Only meteoroid impacts are singularly and in transit risk, while both
malnutrition and contamination are constant risks due to the human factor. Out the
three risks listed, the most harmful risk would be of malnutrition due to the extensive
consequences which can compound other problems. The main risk management

2013).
Meteoroid impacts, although a common obstacle in science fiction movies, do not
rank very highly on a problem for a crew on spacecraft due to the very high
dispersity of streams of meteoroids, their very small size, and the very small size of
a spacecraft in comparison to the vastness of space. Even the ISS has a 1 in a 10
billion chance to hit by predictable meteoroid streams while in a very small orbit
(David, L. 2014). However, due to the large distance any communication signals
would have to traverse, in an emergency situation the astronauts would need to be
able to act according to protocol. To prepare for even this unlikely situation, crew
members should undergo pre flight and routine in flight simulations which involve
safety measures of a breached hull, compromised oxygen supply, damaged thrusters,
or other mechanical failures (Phillips, T. 2002). Although considering that this risk
only pertains to the in transit portion of the mission and a meteoroid that penetrates
the shell of the spacecraft in living quarters would most likely result in the immediate
lack of oxygen due to the immense vacuum in space which would limit any
opportunty to mediate the situation.
Nutrition, although taken care of since the introduction of multiple day missions, is
the most important risk factor to consider as it directly relates the health and ability
of the crew member to perform their duties. The lack of proper nutrients and vitamins
can lead to increased bone

The Role Of The Great Power Involvement In The Middle

IntroductionThe Great Power involvement in the Middle East politics often

described by Victor Israelyan as one of sharp confrontation between the two
superpowers unavoidably fell victim to such pressures. As forms of involvement,
the great powers support each respected ally with weapons, troops and even

position. While the result pattern of Great power intervention is familiar, we never

Case Study Strauder V Allsright Essay
Personal Property Case Study
The case study Parking Lot s Liability is an actual court case, Allright, Inc. v.
Strauder. Plaintiff brought suit alleging that as a result of defendant s negligence,
his automobile was stolen from a parking lot operated by defendant. Signs were
located throughout the parking lot which stated that the lot closed at 6 o clock p.m.
and that anyone returning after that time could pick up their keys at another parking
lot operated by the defendant at a another location. He was aware of the time when
he left the car at the station and that the signs and the claim ticket said the lot closed

Once the purpose of the bailment has been completed, the bailee usually must return
the property to the bailor, or account for it, depending upon the terms of the contract.
Legal liability usually takes the form of monetary damages to compensate for the
breach of the legal duty. A requisite to the creation of a bailment is the express or
implied acceptance of possession or control over the property by the bailee. A
person cannot unwittingly become a bailee. Because a bailment is a contract,
knowledge and acceptance of its terms are essential to its enforcement.
(Cheeseman, 2010) Had the parking garage been closed when the plaintiff left his

in a place where the true owner likely did intend to set it, but then simply forgot. If
property has been abandoned, it is found in a place where the owner likely intended
to leave it, but is in such a condition that
Analysis Of Shakespeare s Antigone And Julius Caesar
Piper Jacobs
12/23/2014
Literature Survey II Honors
Essay: Antigone and Julius Caesar Option 3
The involvement of women is very important in the two stories, Julius Caesar by
William Shakespeare and Antigone by Sophocles. Throughout each story it becomes
clear that the ideas and biases surrounding women play an important part in how
society views women, and how women see themselves. Readers also see these ideas
spread into the minds of women affecting what they do in their life, and how they act.
Antigone and Ismene, from Antigone, and Calpurnia and Portia, from Julius Caesar
are both examples of this major theme. These four women heavily influence their
play and the outcome. Because of this it is clear to see the importance and relevance
of women in Antigone and Julius Caesar.
In both Antigone and Julius Caesar the societal views that women are weak,
submissive and inferior play a major role in each story and their conclusions. In
Antigone, King Creon is shocked when he discovers that it is Antigone that disobeys
him. The betrayer was right under his nose, but he was too blind to see it. King
Creon was blinded by the belief that women are inferior.
Likewise, in Julius Caesar, women are considered inferior. When Portia, Brutus
wife, wants Brutus to trust her she has to prove herself strong by stabbing herself. It
is the societal view of women that makes her have to prove herself. Another major
example of this is when the threat of being considered weak by his peers
Why Is Stormwater Harmful To The Chesapeake Bay
Why is stormwater harmful to the Chesapeake Bay? Storm water is harmful because
as it travels it picks up pollutants like fertilizers, sediments, and litter. All of this
waste can end up going into streams and rivers. It is destructive for the ecosystems,
but there are ways to help prevent this from happening.
Storm water moves it s way across streets, sidewalks, and lawns. As it travels it picks
up pollutants such as fertilizer, pet waste, sediment, and other chemicals that may be
on the ground. This waste can find its way into the streams and rivers. These may
create dead zones that kill marine life. Dead zones are hypoxic areas in bodies of
water caused by nutrient pollution from runoff. The sediment that comes along with
the water ends up blocking sunlight from reaching underwater grass and suffocates
shellfish. Depending on how fast the water is going, it can flood certain areas like
urban, suburban, forests, and wetlands. Water tends to travel faster on surfaces that
are impervious.
Impervious surfaces are a problem because they don t let the water seep through.
The water travels over top these surfaces because they are solid. Paved roads,
sidewalks, patios, and roofs are all impervious. This is harmful because the storm
water builds up speed on impervious surfaces and can cause flooding. They also alter
the amount of precipitation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The runoff carries pollutants such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediments into the
Bay. In urban areas the standard city block creates five times more runoff than a
forested area. About 30% of runoff in an urban area is evaporated, 55% stays
runoff, and the other 15% soaks into the land with a variation of deep and shallow
infiltration. About 40% of runoff in a forest evaporates, 10% stays runoff, and the
extra 50% seeps into the ground with a variation of deep and shallow infiltration. The
runoff is actually the fastest growing source of pollution for the Chesapeake
Analysis Of The Princess Bride
Love stories have been around for centuries, as ever changing as they have been
one thing stays constant, a happily ever after ending. Each story might be
perceived differently but each story has the unique ability to capture all that seek
to find their own happy ending. The famous Cinderella story shows the perfect
example of how the princess culture can be seen in children everywhere. Children
are attracted to Cinderella and stories like it because they believe if you are morally
good there has to be a happily ever after for them. The film The Princess Brideoffers
the inherent hope that happily ever after s are attainable for all who persevere.
People fantasize about their perfect love story and find comfort in movies that fuels
their imagination, like The Princess Bride . Recently the film has been re released
for its 30th anniversary because its ability to capture the audience into the
personified version of the perfect love story. The movie shows the struggles and
triumphs that Westley and Princess Buttercup face in order to be together as a couple.
In order for them to accomplish this, Westley has to save Princess Buttercup from
Prince Humperdinck before their wedding. As they tackle each obstacle, Westley
gains allies with Inigo and Fezzick after choosing to save their lives. Both
characters were ordered to kill Westley, but soon discovered they were no match to
Westley s skills. Westley s spares their lives because each fight was respectful
leading him to see they both were morally good people. When Westley finds himself
in danger, they come to the rescue and fight for him to stay alive with the help of
Miracle Max, the miracle worker. Each character finds their own happily ever after
by persevering through their personal struggles in order to gain their full happiness.
The film shows how hard it is to obtain your happily ever after, through Westley and
Princess Buttercup beating all the odds in order to be with their true love. This
concept can be seen in a similar film that is Cinderella, Then the maiden took the
dishes to the stepmother, feeling joyful, and thinking that now she should go with
them to the feast: but she said All this is of no good to you: you cannot come with

Essay on Dredging the Hudson River
Dredging the Hudson River
For the past year, the subject of polychlorinated biphenyls in the Hudson River and
what should be done about them has been discussed by politicians and residents all
over the capital region. Often the top story on the local news, the front page
headline of the newspaper, the subject of a special on television, or the reason for a
town meeting, dredging has become a much debated topic. With all the information
being exchanged and opinions published, it is easy for the average person to
become confused. In an attempt to make things clear, the following report defines
dredging, PCBs, and presents a short discussion of each side of the Hudson River
dredging debate.

Many companies produced PCBs in the 1930 s and 1940 s and because the
chemical does not decompose, PCBs are still present in soil and rivers, subsequently
ending up in fish and other wildlife. According to the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA), PCBs build up in the environment, and larger concentrations are
found higher in the food chain. Eating contaminated fish is the most likely way for
PCBs to get into the human body. In 1997, the EPA banned the production of PCB s
and they were classified as a probable human carcinogen.
DREDGING
Dredging is the removal of soil or material from the bottom of a river, lake or ocean
harbor. (Encarta Online 8 Apr 2001). There are two distinctive types of dredging;
navigation and construction dredging, and environmental dredging. Navigation and
construction dredging are used to remove sediment that has accumulated to a level
where the water depth is insufficient to support safe navigation (Huskie 2).
Navigation dredging tends to use large open clamshell dredges. Environmental
dredging utilizes hydraulic dredges that act as a vacuum to remove contaminated
sediments such as PCBs, ( Environmental Clearwater.org). A representation of these
dredges is on the following page courtesy of Keene Engineering ( Environmental
Clearwater.org). A sediment that is toxic or hazardous, once removed, must be placed
in an approved hazardous waste landfill or, treated until it is harmless
A Deeper Look Into The Lives Of Slum Dwellers
A Deeper look into the lives of Slum dwellers
Gitashu Jain
Methodology:
On visiting various underdeveloped sections of our world class capital city, I got
the chance to have a closer look into the lives of the unwarranted and at times
acting as an invisible force the slum dwellers. Having migrated from various
developing regions of India, one can see the promises of young bright India being
obliterated into dark gloomy pieces because of communal politics and corruption. It
gave me deeper insights into the colossal failing of the central, state and municipal
machinery. They have failed in proper execution of laws for the most vulnerable and
downtrodden constituents of the society. On spending time in these un
administered, poverty stricken areas of Sanjay Camp, Janta Camp, Shakoorpur
basti and GB road district, where we with the help of the Pradhan (Headman of
these slums), I got a chance to interact with these people which gave me a realistic
insight to their sufferings and problems, starting from commodification of their
labour to stigmatized work they are forced to perform due their caste and social
class. We conducted detailed interviews of inhabitants of every age, keeping the main
focus on pregnant and lactating women (and their children below the age of 6 years),
who clearly are the most vulnerable to maltreatment due to frustration of the men in
failing to provide enough for them poor execution of policies formulated by the
government, ironically, for the
Taking a Look at Hurling
Hurling is believed to be the worlds oldest and fastest paced sport in history. Its
roots have prehistoric origins and have been played for over 3,000 years, even older
than recorded history of Ireland, which is its national game of play. The history itself
of hurling is longer than the Bible and often unclear. Nonetheless hurlingis an
incredible sport full of rich history and a truly rigorous sport.
Since hurling is not a well known sport to us Americans, I m going to give a brief
background of the sport and how it is played. Hurling is an outdoor team game; each
team consists of 15 players on the field aka Hurlers . The field of play is relatively
the same shape of a rugby field but just a bit larger: 140 160 yards long and 90 100
yards wide (Hurling GAA). Scoring is a mix of American football and soccer. At
each end of the field are an H shaped goalpost; the soccer type goal and a field goal
type extension on top of that. If the ball (sliotar) is struck inside the bottom net,
that team is rewarded three points, if the ball is struck and goes in between the top
field goal posts the team gets one point. The equipment of the game consists of a
ball, sliotar that is roughly the size of a baseball but with raised ridges. The stick
called a hurley, roughly 40 inches long, shaped like a field hockey stick is curved
outwards at the end to provide a larger striking surface for the player. The only
protective gear worn is a helmet with a faceguard, which before 2010 was not
Analysis Of Henrietta Lacks By Rebecca Skloot
The author Rebecca Skloot describes an old photograph of a beautiful, brave
looking young woman the woman is Henrietta Lacks, the main character of the
book. A few months before she lost her battle to cervical cancer, a doctor extracted
some of her cancer cells. Her cells went on to survive and multiply indefinitely in the
laboratory environment, which were the first human cells to do such a thing. Her
cells have led to much medical advancement. Skloot seeks to engage the reader s
sympathy for Henrietta Lacksand her family by describing her experiences with
racism, ignorance, and injustice prior to and after her death from cancer. The author
constantly explores the issue of patient rights to the readers by analyzing these
injustices.

Shortage Of Labor In High School
Construction is the industry that got us out of the recession says Kari Clark,
president of the homebuilding company Sharper Homes (personal communication,
November 22, 2017). Without a huge construction labor force, that wouldn t have
been possible. However, today s construction labor force is dwindling in size, and
home builders are having problems staffing workers. While the shortage of labor in
the construction industry of Minnesota is a serious issue, it can be solved by
introducing trade school programs into local schools. To begin, there is a decline in
Minnesotan high schools offering construction trade programs. Since high schools
don t offer these types of programs, many students don t know that going to college

Not only are high schools withholding trade programs from students, but the
negative perception of construction workers turns away applicants. Society has
shaped the idea that two year universities aren t as good as four year universities.
Likely, this is because the perception is that the attendees of the two year university
aren t good enough for a four year university (Dickrell, 2013). These ideas prevent
students from attending two year universities. They are worried that society will
look down upon them. This stigma shouldn t be preventing students from
considering construction jobs. Another aspect of society that creates negative
perceptions about trade schools is high school teachers. Teachers aren t discussing
trade jobs, so many students don t even think about trade schools (Robertson, 2013).
By not promoting blue collar jobs, the construction labor industry is hurting.
Teachers need to open students minds to other options besides going to a four year
college. The small number of applicates to trade schools is likely due to a negative
perception of the construction industry. The shortage of labor caused by society and
the lack of trade programs in high schools causes a problem for consumers because of
the rise in prices in the construction industry. It s plain to see that the lack of workers
affects how much construction industries can charge. The industry is

Effects Of Colonization On Indigenous People
Imagine having your identity and culture stripped away from you. This is what has
happened to many Indigenous people throughout history in Canada. This has been
done through the process of colonization. There are many devastating impacts of
colonization that has affected Indigenous people all over Canada including racism
and stereotyping as well as the downfall of the health of Indigenous people. Racism
against Indigenous people has been a major impact of colonialismthroughout the
years. The racism and institutionalized racism has grown over the years and has made
it complicated for many Indigenous people to practice their spirituality and culture.
There are also many health consequences of colonization including starvation,
disease, mental illness and addiction. There are many impacts of colonization that
have affected Indigenous people throughout history and continue to impact them
today.
Racism is very prevalent in today s society against Indigenous people in Canada.
They face many forms of individual and institutionalized racism. According to
LaRocque, Racism is prejudice or discrimination based on the belief that one or one s
group is innately or genetically superior to another. Racists believe that race
determines qualities such as intelligence, innovation, creativity and even morality
(N.D). People have been taught the stereotypes of Indigenous people whether it be
from the educational system, health system, court system and many other institutions
in Canada.
Hollywood Sexism
Power in Hollywood
Women are more than 50 percent of the population in America. Everyday woman
face sexism but, Hollywood in particular has many cases of misogynism. Despite
Hollywood projecting progressive ideas they severely lack in the sexism part.
Misogynist portrayal of women in Hollywood results from men having the power in
Hollywood.
Women are a low percent of those behind the camera. In 2014, a whopping 85
percent of films had no female directors, 80 percent had no female writers, and one
third lacked female producers, according to a San Diego State University study
(Davidson). How can there be strong women characters if there are not that many
women working behind the scenes? With the lack of women behind the camera,
the roles women play are often degrading and sexist. Women are often portrayed in
service jobs such as waitresses instead of in leadership roles. In the top 500 films
from 2007 2012, 28.8 percent of women wore sexually revealing clothes while men
only accounted for 7 percent (IndieWire). TV and movies teach girls from a young
age that they are meant to be a wife or homemaker and not much else. It is hard to
dream to be a doctor or a CEO of a big company if you do not see it when you turn
on the TV. And it is not that women are not qualified to work behind the camera, they
are just not given the chance. It is hard to change your portrayal in film and TV if you
are not the one writing the characters or directing.

How Did European Imperialism Affect North American
Many great nations have conquered other territories to expand their ownership of
land and resources. Imperialism is one country creating an empire by conquest and
exploitation of other places and peoples. European Imperialists wanted many different
things from different places around the world. They took different things from Africa
as they did from the Caribbean. Different places had different things to offer.
European Imperialists went to the Caribbean, Aztec and Inca Empires and North
America. When they went to the Caribbean they wanted to exterminate indigenous
political leadership. Guns, Germs and Steel has impacted the Caribbean, Aztec and
Inca Empires and North America tremendously. In the Caribbean, the imperialists led
to the transatlantic slave trade. In Aztec and Inca Empires were hunter gatherers and
used stone tools. In North America, they dominated the modern world in wealth and
power.
In the Caribbean, there has been many changes due to the European Imperialists. The
production of sugar, in particular, provided European states with incredible wealth,
which allowed them to continue to build their global empires. Imperial presence in
the Caribbean and the Americas also led to the transatlantic slave trade and the
massive enslavement of Africans in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Mrs Birling Unsympathetic Character
In An Inspector Calls, Preistley conveys Mrs Birling as the most unsympathetic
character in the play. He does this by having the inspector say to Mrs Birling [Eva]
came to you for help at a time when no woman could have needed it more. We
know that Mrs Birling turned her down and did not offer any help which shows the
reader that she does not care about other peoples needs, even when they are clearly in
distress. Also in the stage directions at the beginning of the play, Sybil is described as
a rather cold woman . The explicit meaning of cold is something of or at a low or
relatively low temperature . The implicit meaning however is lacking affection or
warmth of feeling; unemotional which describes Mrs Birling very well and lets the

The pharmaceutical company Zogenix shares nearly tripled after the release of
information on a drug that targets epilepsy in children and young adults (Gatlin,
IBD, 2017). The shares jumped as high as 191.5% to 37.55 in the stock market and
closed up at 172.2% at 37.55 while their rival company GW Pharma stocks
plummeted 9.6% to close with shares at 101.49 (Gatlin, IBD, 2017). The new study
released by Zogenix shows that the new drug fenfluramine reduced monthly
seizures by a median 72.4% vs. a 17.4% reduction in patients treated with a placebo
(Gatlin, IBD, 2017). This challenges GW Pharma s drug dubbed Epidiolex which
reduced monthly seizures by a median 39% compared with a 13% reduction when
treated with a placebo (Gatlin, IBD, 2017).

Anita Diamant s novel The Red Tent is a Midrash revolved around the biblical
passage of Genesis 34: Dinah and the Shechemites. In this story Anita Diamant gives
a voice to Simeon and Levi s sister, Dinah, who is known as the woman who was
raped then later loved by Shechem. After Shechem s injustice of Dinah, Shechem and
his city were slaughtered by Simeon and Levi. Both biblepassages and the novel The
Red Tentprovide some similar and some different characteristic traits for Simeon
and Levi which in turn allows the readers to take away and learn more from the
Midrash story. The readers are able to further involve themselves in the relevance of

Simeon and Levi grew through both their experiences of violence and faith.
Eventually they repented their sins they brought upon Joseph, their brother. The most
significant aspect of their personalities is their zeal for cruelty and violence. In the
Testament of the Patriarchs, it is understood that God came to both the Simeonites
and Levites discussing their enthusiasm for violence. Eventually, even though warned
by Simeon, the Simeonites could not overcome their obsession of cruelty and
violence. Therefore, the Simeonites numbers eventually decreased and they were
finally absorbed into the Judahites. The Levites, on the other hand, overcame their
zeal for cruelty and violence by focusing their fixation towards God thereby
becoming a holy priesthood.
Through passages in the bible and the Testament of the Patriarchs, Simeon and Levi
were characterized as cruel, rash and violent leaders who were considered righteous
in their vengeance of Shechem. But they made many dishonest and immoral
decisions such as enslaving Joseph. Even though they made these dishonest decisions,
the Levites were able to sustain and thrive as a holy priesthoodНѕ whereas the
Simeonites were unable to change their ways, this eventually led to their
obsolescence. In Anita Diamant s novel, The Red Tent,
Government Should Not Be Run Like A Business
Government should not be run like a business because a system that was established
to protect and ensure the public good should always put equity before efficiency.
Government is inherently different from business, and therefore should run differently.
Though business like mechanisms can create a more efficient and potentially
innovated government, government and business should be run differently, since they
are inherently different in their conceptual values. Appleby explains some of these
differences. He argues that no one can serve the public as it should be served unless
he or she has a public interest attitude with certain special characteristics. In addition,
business has much narrower extent, while public officials are more broadly
stimulated, with a breadth of view and a public interest attitude. Government is
complex as well as vastly interdependent with many other nonprofit and private
organizations. Also, the government is subject to public scrutiny and public outcry.
According to Denhardt and Denhardt, government acts, in concert with private and
nonprofit groups and organizations, to seek solutions to the problems that
communities face. In the process, the role of government is transformed from one of
controlling to one of agenda setting, bringing the proper players to the table,
facilitating, negotiating, or brokering solutions to public problems often through
coalitions of public, private, and nonprofit agencies. Finally, government is different
from business

Writing A Literary Essay. What is a literary essay anyway?!? im 4 students

  • 1. Writing A Literary Essay Writing an essay on the subject of "Writing A Literary Essay" may appear deceptively straightforward at first glance, but delving into the intricacies of this task reveals its inherent challenges. Crafting a literary essay requires a multifaceted approach that goes beyond mere summarization and demands a keen understanding of literary elements, critical analysis, and effective communication. One of the primary difficulties lies in the need for a deep comprehension of the chosen literary work. Analyzing the nuances of characters, plot developments, themes, and stylistic devices requires a careful and attentive reading. Interpreting the author's intentions and unraveling the layers of meaning often requires a level of literary acumen that can be challenging to cultivate. Moreover, constructing a coherent and compelling argument presents its own set of challenges. Articulating a thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the analysis and aligning subsequent paragraphs to support this central idea demand both creativity and logical reasoning. Maintaining a balance between interpretation and evidence, while avoiding personal bias, adds an additional layer of complexity to the writing process. Additionally, navigating the intricacies of academic writing conventions and ensuring proper citation of sources can be daunting for those unfamiliar with the conventions of literary analysis. A writer must not only express their ideas coherently but also adhere to established standards, such as MLA or APA formatting, to lend credibility to their work. Furthermore, crafting an essay that captivates the reader requires a mastery of language and rhetorical devices. Striking the right tone, employing effective transitions, and incorporating eloquent prose are essential aspects that contribute to the overall quality of the essay. Balancing analytical depth with engaging writing style poses a continuous challenge. In conclusion, composing an essay on "Writing A Literary Essay" demands a blend of literary insight, analytical prowess, adherence to academic standards, and a mastery of language. Overcoming these challenges requires dedication, practice, and a commitment to honing one's writing skills. For those seeking assistance in navigating the complexities of such essays, it's worth exploring resources that provide expert guidance and support. • 2. Mentor And Mentee Relationships From The Army Mentor and Mentee Relationships in the Army Matthew P. Styles 24 October 2017 Abstract In this paper I will be discussing the dynamic and effects of the mentorship relationship in relation to the Army. I will accomplish this by using Army doctrine and personal experience. First I will explain mentorship as defined by the Army. I will then discuss the characteristics of a mentorship relationship. I will cover the basic principles to be used to define the relationship. Next I will discuss considerations for the selection process for the mentor and mentee. Additionally, I will cover expectations a mentee would have of their mentor and the responsibilities of the mentor. I will clarify the four stages of mentorship, the application of them, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is common for this to occur naturally without the relationship being formally defined or initially acknowledged by either. The mentor will advise and counsel the mentee on personal, professional, and career goals through the sharing of personal experience, encouragement, feedback, and guidance. (FM 6 22, 2015) Now that we have defined mentorship we can further define the relationship between the mentor and mentee. As mentioned, mentorship should extend beyond the chain of command. This is recommended so as to not create the image of favoritism within your unit. (FM 6 22, 2015). Mentorship can easily be confused with leadership. It is every Leader s responsibility to develop every Soldier within their ranks. If a Leader chooses to be the mentor of one of their Soldiers, this could cross the professional threshold and could be perceived as favoritism. If a mentor should not be a direct Leader then how should one select a mentor? There are many things to consider when selecting a mentor. A mentor should be someone that you look up to. It should be someone that is not only respected by you but respected by others. A mentor should be a person held in high regard amongst their seniors, peers, and subordinates. They should display the Army Values and leader attributes. They do not have to share the same occupational specialty, although it many times is the case. In many cases it will be a
  • 3. Agartha Research Papers April Aromatics Agartha A journey to the Land of the Living Gods + Search For Our Inner Soul Draw A legend for some, but for others reality, the Earth is, just like the other planets, hollow and its cavity is a place where beings live, physically similar to humans. Their physical and mental qualities, technology and a method of communication, as well as ethical standards, are more progressive than ours. The year is 1829. Fishermen, father, and son Jens and Olaf Jensen in the midst one of their fisheries decided to sail further north, in search of the mythical land far beyond the North Wind , inside of the Earth which is commonly known as Agartha. Strange events happened, but they came to the land of their dreams, unimaginably beautiful. Situated inside the Earth s hollow and lit up by the inner sun, this place is a haven for species that vanished from Earth s surface long time ago. Hospitable and friendly residents live for hundreds of years because of their healthy lifestyle, food, and cohabitation with nature. Everything here is better, cleaner and bigger. People are much taller, and grapes are like oranges, more flavorful than we can imagine. Such a beginning means the possibility of healing power, it is like a guardian that helps us to look for the path that our soul needs to discover. It reminds me on thousands of otherworldly peaches, apples, and mangos that meet the odor of mimosa, the traditional Chinese medicine that positively impacts on our mood. Mimosa that emerges from the fruits is a bit hazy, reminding us that it is not easy to find the entrance to our soul because such knowledge is possible for these who are willing to attenuate the foggy ignorance. Although once for short it shyly allows again the fruits to dominate mimosa starts to show its bright and warm
  • 4. The Implementation Of Structural Adjustment Programs While recent austerity measures roused the ire of many in QuГ©bec, the concept is far from novel in Jamaica. Entering into its fourth decade of austerity policy, the island s expenditures on debt repayments are double that of health and education combined. In response to the mounting global debt crisis of the late 1970s, the World Bankand International Monetary Fund(IMF) set forth a series of prescriptions for developing countries in the form of Structural Adjustment Programs (SAPs) upon which the receipt of foreign aid is conditional. This paper seeks to analyze the effects of those prescriptions on the urban poor in three dimensions. First, through a look at the quality and accessibility of housing stock. Following that, a discussion of currency reforms and nutrition status. Finally, a glimpse at how health services have been impacted, followed by some brief policy recommendations. Throughout, this paper illustrates that the implementation of structural adjustment programs has downgraded the status of the urban poor in Jamaica through the persistence of substandard, inaccessible housing, rising imported food costs coupled with rampant malnutrition, and a pronounced decline in health care services. While access to clean water and safe sanitation slowly spread across the world, conditions in Jamaica remained unchanging under structural adjustment. As of 1991, twenty four per cent of homes in the capital city of Kingston lacked sewer connections, while a full forty per

Additionally to be able to identify where organs of the digestion, circulatory, and respiratory systems are located in a rat and their function according to the rat s anatomy. One is able to use rats as a specimen to study human anatomy, as the organs found in a rat such as the heart, lungs, and the stomach, are also found in the human body. Furthermore, it has been proved that humans has approximately 99% of the same DNA as rodents especially mice (Speaking of research, 2016). For an example, Norway rats prefer to eat foods high in protein such as pet food and meat scraps, while Roof rats prefer fruits (Rat s diet, n.d.). Other similarity between the species in their diet is their desire to eat sugar and foods high in amounts of sugar. A difference between humans and rats is the number of chromosomes they have. Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes, while rats have 21 pairs of chromosome as evolution occurs faster in rats than they do in humans (Spencer, 2012). Additionally, rats can become the host for the tapeworm Taenia taeniaformis while humans cannot. The Taenia taeniaformis causes the crystal formation in the rat s liver resulting in it becoming enlarged. Another disease only rats can get is chronic progressive nephrosis. Chronic progressive nephrosis involves the inflammation of blood vessels in the rat s kidney. The disease is more commonly found in older male rats. A rat may get the disease through gender, genetics, and by salutary factors such as protein content and total calorie intake in their diet (Quesenberry et al., 2011) A similarity between the two species is the common diseases/disorders they can get such as hypertension, cataracts, obesity and deafness (Melina, 2010). Finally, a vital difference between humans and rats are body positions they natural use. A rat is a quadruped meaning they move on all four legs, while humans are bipedalism, meaning they move on 2 legs instead of
  • 6. Sports Coaches Research Paper What is a coach? Webster dictionary says a person who teaches and trains athletes, a person who teaches and trains the members of a sports team and makes decisions about how the team plays games. What makes a good coach? Is it wins? Bobby Knight has 902 wins and many question his coaching tactics. Becker*The all time leader in NCAA basketball wins is Harry Statam of McKendree, he has 1,088 wins but no national championships. Mike Kryyzewski has 1,018 win and 5 national championships. So what makes one coachbetter than another? How and what criteria can we use to measure? Can a coach with a losing record still be a good coach? Are all coachingwith winning records good coaches? The National Standards for Sport Coaches, much like the national standards for teachers are a guide to all in sport leaders and should be followed. The standards allow for each coach to individualize what they can do, but it supplies 8 domains and 40 standards that they must take into consideration when they develop a program or even volunteer for a community team. • 7. Mccandless Vs Transcendentalism Alaska or Bust: The Two Men That Believed Alaska Had All the Answers As Christopher Johnson McCandless once said: The core of mans spirit comes from new experiences (Krakauer, 57). Society has given the majority of the human population a predetermined cookie cutter lifestyle for which they must follow in order to be accepted. This includes which virtues to follow, how to interact with others, and what is and what is it not acceptable. For many people, fitting into this mold is the only way they know how to live, but for a select few, it is quite the opposite. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Timothy Treadwell, made famous after the biographical documentary Grizzly Man was released, spent thirteen summers in Katmai National Park in Homer, Alaska living amongst the region s wild brown bears before he was ultimately killed and consumed by them. No one quite understood why he decided to spend so much time with the dangerous carnivores, but onecan only speculate on the decisions that led to his tragic end. He was believed to have suffered from alcoholism and drug addiction. The self proclaimed bear whisperer not only yearned not only for a connection with the bears, but many believed also for their acceptance. He devoted his life trying to convince society that the bears needed his help, but there is controversy as to if he did more bad than good in his so called efforts to aid in their protection. Formally known as Timothy Dexter, the young Timothy Treadwell from a middle class family in Long Island, New York, was known to many as a struggling aspiring actor who struggled with drug abuse and alcoholism. In his youth, Treadwell was a gifted diver for his high school. His pure talent brought him a scholarship to Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, as well as the ability to set many records for his school that would remain to be untouched to this day. Right before his junior year, he sustained a back injury that ultimately made him lose his scholarship and ended his diving career. Unable to face the tragedy, he
  • 8. The Relationship Between Troilus And Criseyde The relationship between Troilus and Criseyde in Geoffrey Chaucer s adaptation of their tragic love story notably hinges on the perception of Troilus s manhod. The interpretation of Troilus as a feminized male character, and the consequent view that he was not manly enough to keep Criseyde as his lover, exemplifies the importance Chaucer places on gender roles in the poem. Troilus s passive nature, as a result of his lovesickness, led to his failure to obey the normative masculine patterns of behavior. His lack of action is ultimately the reason why his relationship with Criseyde fails. While we know the tragic ending to their story is inevitable, Chaucer s Troilus and Criseydepresents gender as a central cause for its ending. In the first portrait of Troilus, Chaucer presents us with a manly young knight at ease with his respectable and authoritative position: This Troilus, as he was wont to gide His yonge knyghtes, lad hem up and down In thilke large temple on every side, Beholding ay the ladies of the town, Now here, now there; for no devocioun Hadde he to non, to reven hym his reste, But gan to preise and lakken whom hym leste (I. 183 189) Troilus is represented here as a strong leader. He guides the knights through the temple and gazes at the ladies of the town as he pleases. He mocks the other knights who foolishly fall in love; Troilus is above that type of behavior. After the God of Love shoots him with his arrow, Troilus becomes smitten with Criseyde in one
  • 9. Electronic Commerce And E Commerce E commerce Definition Electronic commerce or e commerce is a term for any type of business, or commercial transaction, which involves the transfer of information across the Internet. It is often associated exclusively with online consumer shopping, but the term extends beyond that category. Additional businesses covered under the umbrella of e commerce includes online auction sites, such as EBay, and businesses that exchange both goods and services.[3] History The history of e commerce is often contributed to Michael Aldrich. After a visit to a local grocery store, Aldrich was inspired to build a new way to sell groceries. In 1979 he used a television, and a two way messaging platform, called Videotex, to design what is thought of as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This spearheaded the growth of the internet as a whole. [1,2] 1994 brought in the next set of changes. Netscape Navigator was introduced this year. This was significant because Netscape introduced encryption certificates. This encryption made exchanges of all kinds online more secure, which was a barrier holding back the growth of the e commerce, and the internet as a whole. 1994 also brought along with it the creation of Yahoo! Although the domain name wasn t actually secured until January of 1995. This was important because of how young and new the internet was. Those who weren t deeply involved in the computers, and specifically the internet, struggled to navigate the web and locate what they specifically wanted. [2] The next year brought with it an online bookstore called Cadabra that would quickly be changed to Amazon. Founded by Jeff Bezos, Amazon would go on to pressure many brick and mortar bookstores out of business. Within their first 5 years of business, they expanded beyond simply selling books by also offering things such as DVDs, video games, electronics, and even. They are currently a Fortune 500 company, and the #1 online retailer bringing in approximate 79 billion dollars in online revenue per year (as of 2014.) For instance, Oji Okoro (2010) in his study, the relationship between FDI and telecommunication growth in Nigeria, expounded that FDI influx boosted the growth of the country s telecommunication sector tremendously. A host of research has been carried out to investigate the significance of foreign direct investment on the economy of Nigeria; however, most of these researches are concentrated on the sector where the large chunk of these investments goes to the oil and gas sector. The low level of foreign direct investment in the agricultural sector might be one major reason why not much work has been done to analyze the impact of FDI in Nigeria s agricultural sector. A sectorial analysis of cumulative foreign direct investment in Nigeria from 1980 2007 is described in Figure 1. The major gap this study points out and intends to address is that, studies that have even attempted to empirically study the impact of FDI in the agricultural sector of Nigeria use the FDI that is obtained in the entire economy 17 Journal of Economics and Sustainable Development ISSN 2222 1700 (Paper) ISSN 2222 2855 (Online) Vol.4, No.10, 2013 www.iiste.org rather than use the FDI that flows specifically to the agricultural sector. To me, self disclosure is letting myself go and trusting the person I am disclosing to, it involves risk and vulnerability on my part sharing important information to someone. It turned out to be a very and happy relationship where I allowed myself to let go and have someone I can talk to things that I would not want to bother my mother with. and also allowed myself to let him know of my deepest fears and my inner most feelings When it comes to self disclosure at work, I am not one to disclose to my co workers since I feel like my private life and my work place are two different entities and what I may tell my co worker can be used against me one day, therefore I disclose as less as possible. The realizations I have on self disclosure is that, it is one way of letting my self go. Letting another human being know my inner most feelings and my fears. I am a very private person and I tend to not say much about myself unless I know the person very well. I tend to not to like people who disclose a lot of information to me mainly if we do not have a very close relationship, because to me that means I also have to let them in on some of my inner most feelings. Most people use it incorrectly, and it becomes a barrier between speaker and audience. For example, they create word slides, really speaker notes, with many bullets of text, expecting what? the audience to read along with them? Or, they go nuts with the animation, swoops, and flying headlines that make audiences dizzy to little purpose. Applying Plain Packaging On Cigarette Cases Essay With the looming possibility of implementing plain packaging on cigarette cases, the lobbyist involved uses certain facts to shed light on the seemingly hidden implications of the plain packaging policy. The main concern of the lobbyist and the advantage point lies within how uninformed the general populous is. The lobbyist essentially claims that the plain packaging policy has no proof of being an effective method of diminishing the number of smokers. Though the lobbyist asserts that it is invalid, this research essay will introduce compelling evidence and experimental data that suggests that the notion behind the plain packaging policy is actually an efficient method for minimizing the popularity of smoking. This paper will also look at opposing points of views that argue otherwise and the issue with their allegations. Before analyzing academic sources that convey the effectiveness of plain packaging, it is crucial to understand what plain packaging is and how it works. Harry Clarke and David Pentice s article describes plain packaging as the removal of all aesthetic features from tobacco packages. Strictly speaking, a set of explicit specifications determines what a package must have to be considered plain packaged. Some of these specifications include changing brightly colored cigarette packs to packages that contain standardized drab dark brown [colors,] with trade names in a standard font (Clarke and Pentice). • 17. Characterism In Gabriel Marquez s Death Constant Beyond Love Gabriel Marquez witnessed a great deal of tragedy when his home country of Columbia was going through a civil war. On April 9th, 1948 Jorge Eliezer Gaitan, a Liberal party leader, was murdered in Bogota. According to Zaida and Laurent, This incident plunged Columbia into a decade of violence and upheaval that would become known at La Violencia. This event had a profound effect on Marquez. In fact, much of what he wrote about was inspired by politics and Latin Americas problems during this time. On a more fictional note, Marquez was also inspired by mystical, fantasy stories that his grandmother told him when he was a boy. By the same token, May writes, From the influences of his early childhood, when he learned from his grandmother how to tell the most fantastic stories in matter of fact tone, to his later observations of the oppression and cruelties of politics, Garcia Marquez captures the everyday life of the amazing people of coastal Columbia. Also, in much of his work, he incorporates common themes of death, fate, solitude, loveand power. In Death Constant Beyond Love Gabriel Marquez combines these serious, tragic themes with his signature style of magical realism to tell a story about a Columbian political leader who encounters death, fate solitude, love, and power. First, in the story, the most obvious tragedyis Sanchez s impending death which he tragically chooses to face alone. Sanchez has been told by doctors that he will be dead forever by next Christmas (Puchner, 988). Although Sanchez knows that his death is coming, he chooses to carry on with life as normal which tells the reader that he is still trying to enjoy life and hold onto his dignity. This type of character is often present in Marquez s stories. May explains that His characters experience the magic and joy of life and face the suffering of solitude and isolation but always with an innate dignity. When Sanchez is about to take a nap he places a rose in water as an effort to preserve it, which is an indication that he has a desire to enjoy the beauty of the rose as long as he can. As he prepares to nap he explains that he is, making a great effort at mental distraction so as not to think about death while he dozed (Puchner,

Names like Noah, Jacob, David, and Miriam, are names currently in the top 1000 child names in the world, and they are all biblical names. Names from the Bibleare also found in many works of literature, like Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, a coming of age story about a young man during the mid twentieth century. British geologists discovered oil underneath Iran in 1908 and by 1909 the Anglo Persian Oil Company (APOC) began drilling for the British government. APOC benefited from World War I as it was predicted all British naval ships will soon be converted from coal to oil and the company could spread further into Europe. Refineries were built in Whales, Scotland and were bought in France and Australia. In 1935, APOC was officially changed to Anglo Iranian Oil Company (AIOC) due to Persia being referred to as Iran. World War II gave rise to nationalism inside the Arab countries including Iran. The Iranian government in 1951 obtained control of the Iranian oil industry forming the National Iranian Oil Company and consequently pushing out the AIOC. The American and British governments worked to over throw the Iranian government in 1953 to regain control of oil in Iran. It also introduces a system to cut back on the amount of routing tables needed for a network and can support most polices due to the internet being a hop count like routing model, and BGP 4 supports hop counts. (Lammle 928) I see it as everything as its own responsibility within, allowing for BGP which is both versatile and flexible to meet the demands of the packets that need to be forwarded, because everything has its own task and its own set of rules making the procedure orderly and efficient. The only similarity that RIP and BGP have is that they are routing protocols and route information by using an algorithm to send the packets, otherwise they are different in many aspects. One of the biggest differences between RIP and BGP is that RIP is an IGP and BGP is an EGP, but you can say they work together to get their task done. If information from an autonomous system that has RIP needs to send information to another autonomous within its limit of 15 hop counts, BGP helps to bridge that gap. The other biggest difference is RIP is a simple protocol meant for the use of a small network, while BGP is vast and a highly complex protocol that can be considered as the management system of transferring data of numerous amounts of autonomous systems. BGP can also be seen as the major backbone

Even the ISS has a 1 in a 10 billion chance to hit by predictable meteoroid streams while in a very small orbit (David, L. 2014). However, due to the large distance any communication signals would have to traverse, in an emergency situation the astronauts would need to be able to act according to protocol. To prepare for even this unlikely situation, crew members should undergo pre flight and routine in flight simulations which involve safety measures of a breached hull, compromised oxygen supply, damaged thrusters, or other mechanical failures (Phillips, T. 2002). Although considering that this risk only pertains to the in transit portion of the mission and a meteoroid that penetrates the shell of the spacecraft in living quarters would most likely result in the immediate lack of oxygen due to the immense vacuum in space which would limit any opportunty to mediate the situation. Nutrition, although taken care of since the introduction of multiple day missions, is the most important risk factor to consider as it directly relates the health and ability of the crew member to perform their duties. The lack of proper nutrients and vitamins can lead to increased bone

The Middle East, a region described by Victor Israelyan as one of sharp confrontation between the two superpowers unavoidably fell victim to such pressures. As forms of involvement, the great powers support each respected ally with weapons, troops and even intelligence report, as demonstrated in 1967 war. Once the purpose of the bailment has been completed, the bailee usually must return the property to the bailor, or account for it, depending upon the terms of the contract. Legal liability usually takes the form of monetary damages to compensate for the breach of the legal duty. A requisite to the creation of a bailment is the express or implied acceptance of possession or control over the property by the bailee. A person cannot unwittingly become a bailee. Because a bailment is a contract, knowledge and acceptance of its terms are essential to its enforcement. • 36. Analysis Of Shakespeare s Antigone And Julius Caesar Piper Jacobs 12/23/2014 Literature Survey II Honors Essay: Antigone and Julius Caesar Option 3 The involvement of women is very important in the two stories, Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare and Antigone by Sophocles. Throughout each story it becomes clear that the ideas and biases surrounding women play an important part in how society views women, and how women see themselves. Readers also see these ideas spread into the minds of women affecting what they do in their life, and how they act. Antigone and Ismene, from Antigone, and Calpurnia and Portia, from Julius Caesar are both examples of this major theme. These four women heavily influence their play and the outcome. Because of this it is clear to see the importance and relevance of women in Antigone and Julius Caesar. In both Antigone and Julius Caesar the societal views that women are weak, submissive and inferior play a major role in each story and their conclusions. In Antigone, King Creon is shocked when he discovers that it is Antigone that disobeys him. The betrayer was right under his nose, but he was too blind to see it. King Creon was blinded by the belief that women are inferior. Likewise, in Julius Caesar, women are considered inferior. When Portia, Brutus wife, wants Brutus to trust her she has to prove herself strong by stabbing herself. It is the societal view of women that makes her have to prove herself. Another major example of this is when the threat of being considered weak by his peers
  • 37. Why Is Stormwater Harmful To The Chesapeake Bay Why is stormwater harmful to the Chesapeake Bay? Storm water is harmful because as it travels it picks up pollutants like fertilizers, sediments, and litter. All of this waste can end up going into streams and rivers. It is destructive for the ecosystems, but there are ways to help prevent this from happening. Storm water moves it s way across streets, sidewalks, and lawns. As it travels it picks up pollutants such as fertilizer, pet waste, sediment, and other chemicals that may be on the ground. This waste can find its way into the streams and rivers. These may create dead zones that kill marine life. Dead zones are hypoxic areas in bodies of water caused by nutrient pollution from runoff. The sediment that comes along with the water ends up blocking sunlight from reaching underwater grass and suffocates shellfish. Depending on how fast the water is going, it can flood certain areas like urban, suburban, forests, and wetlands. Water tends to travel faster on surfaces that are impervious. Impervious surfaces are a problem because they don t let the water seep through. The water travels over top these surfaces because they are solid. Paved roads, sidewalks, patios, and roofs are all impervious. This is harmful because the storm water builds up speed on impervious surfaces and can cause flooding. They also alter the amount of precipitation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The runoff carries pollutants such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediments into the Bay. The history itself of hurling is longer than the Bible and often unclear. Nonetheless hurlingis an incredible sport full of rich history and a truly rigorous sport. Since hurling is not a well known sport to us Americans, I m going to give a brief background of the sport and how it is played. Hurling is an outdoor team game; each team consists of 15 players on the field aka Hurlers . The field of play is relatively the same shape of a rugby field but just a bit larger: 140 160 yards long and 90 100 yards wide (Hurling GAA). Scoring is a mix of American football and soccer. At each end of the field are an H shaped goalpost; the soccer type goal and a field goal type extension on top of that. If the ball (sliotar) is struck inside the bottom net, that team is rewarded three points, if the ball is struck and goes in between the top field goal posts the team gets one point. The equipment of the game consists of a ball, sliotar that is roughly the size of a baseball but with raised ridges. The stick called a hurley, roughly 40 inches long, shaped like a field hockey stick is curved outwards at the end to provide a larger striking surface for the player. Society has shaped the idea that two year universities aren t as good as four year universities. Likely, this is because the perception is that the attendees of the two year university aren t good enough for a four year university (Dickrell, 2013). These ideas prevent students from attending two year universities. They are worried that society will look down upon them. This stigma shouldn t be preventing students from considering construction jobs. Another aspect of society that creates negative perceptions about trade schools is high school teachers. Despite Hollywood projecting progressive ideas they severely lack in the sexism part. Misogynist portrayal of women in Hollywood results from men having the power in Hollywood. Women are a low percent of those behind the camera. In 2014, a whopping 85 percent of films had no female directors, 80 percent had no female writers, and one third lacked female producers, according to a San Diego State University study (Davidson). How can there be strong women characters if there are not that many women working behind the scenes? With the lack of women behind the camera, the roles women play are often degrading and sexist.
