Essay On Leadership Skills
Crafting an essay on the subject of leadership skills is a task that demands a nuanced
understanding of the topic and a thoughtful exploration of various dimensions associated with
effective leadership. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a comprehensive overview of
leadership but also in delving into the intricacies of different leadership styles, their impact on
team dynamics, and the evolving nature of leadership in contemporary contexts.
One challenge in writing such an essay is the need for extensive research to grasp the theoretical
foundations of leadership. This involves studying classic leadership theories, contemporary
models, and the empirical evidence supporting or challenging these concepts. Additionally, one
must stay updated on current leadership trends, as the landscape is constantly evolving.
The essay should not only cover the theoretical aspects but also provide practical insights.
Drawing from real-world examples and case studies is crucial to illustrate the application of
leadership skills in various scenarios. However, striking the right balance between theory and
practice can be challenging, requiring careful consideration to avoid being too theoretical or
overly anecdotal.
Another hurdle is navigating the diverse perspectives on leadership. Different scholars and
experts may have contrasting views on what makes a good leader, and the essay should
acknowledge and critically engage with these perspectives. This requires a nuanced approach to
present a well-rounded understanding while maintaining coherence in the overall argument.
Furthermore, crafting a compelling introduction and conclusion is essential. The introduction
should grab the reader's attention and clearly outline the scope and purpose of the essay. The
conclusion should synthesize the key points and leave a lasting impression. Striking this balance
between engaging the reader and summarizing complex ideas can be a formidable task.
In summary, writing an essay on leadership skills involves navigating through theoretical
frameworks, practical applications, diverse perspectives, and maintaining a cohesive narrative. It
demands not only strong research and analytical skills but also effective communication to
convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner. Despite the challenges, a well-crafted essay
on leadership skills can be immensely rewarding in contributing to a deeper understanding of this
critical subject.

Tupac Amaru Rebellion
Latin America was divided politically, economically, and socially throughout history,
but the Catholic Church is one of the only factors that all regions of the country had
in common. The Catholic Church was one of the most powerful institutions and
influential elements in Latin America throughout the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
From rebellions to politics, the Church played an important role in multiple areas of
historical significance. The importance of Catholicism during 18th century Latin
Americawas clear during the Tupac Amaru Rebellion, which took place from 1780 to
1783. During this time, Catholicism was the dominant religion of Latin America.

In addition, Amaru strived to achieve independence for indigenous Peruvians, and his
Catholicism not only helped him persevere, but it also helped him explain the
motivations for his actions. One of the major setbacks that Amaru faced during his
rebellion was his excommunication from the Church. Since his religion was such a
fundamental aspect of his life, one might think that his excommunication would
cause him to lose motivation and prevent him from successfully completing his
rebellion. However, Amaru s wife revealed during an interrogation session that her
husband believed his excommunication was just one of many steps of God s plan for
both Amaru and his wife. Instead of losing all motivation during his rebellion, Amaru
was fearless about his removal from the Church because he believed that he and his
wife were immune to excommunication (Stavig 126). Not only did Amaru use
Catholicism to justify his
Water Conservation And Its Effects On American Urban...
Water Conservation
How do we stabilize the use of water in American Urban cities without wasting too
much money and drastically changing the lifestyles of people?
When it comes to water conservation, there are two types of changes that are looked
upon. There are little changes in the lifestyles of people and there are changes using
technology. Within the two, the majority of people look at changes using technology,
such as desalination and water recycling. In the other end, mostly environmentalists
and vegan activists look at the amount of water eating food uses and how the
agriculture industry uses about half the water in the United States. But is this really
true? And which form of water conservation can be most efficient for the
prolongment of the earth?
Objective definitions are necessary in to understand what stabilization of the use of
water really means. The Merriam Webster Definition of stabilize is to make stable,
steadfast, or firm. To be stable is to be in a good state or condition that is not easily
changed or likely to change, according to Merriam Webster. In this research paper, I
will be using stabilization of water as efficiently using water and not letting it go to
waste, such as the what The United States and other more developed country have
already doing. Desalination is converting seawater into drinking water. Rainwater
Harvesting is capturing water through rain and storing for later use. Green roofs are a
form of rainwater harvesting where
The Library Card Essay
The Library Card, by Richard Wright is a strong essay on how books can affect and
influence readers. Richard Wright writes that his first experience of the real world
is accomplished through novels. He read an article criticizing H.L. Mencken and it
tempted him to read some of his books. The article labeled Mencken as a fool.
Wright wanted to know what this man had done to cause such hatred against him. I
wondered what on earth this Mencken had done to call down upon him the scorn of
the South. The only people I had ever heard denounced in the South were Negroes,
and this man was not a Negro, (pg.319) Wright writes that tells us that the South was
filled with racism and hatred among the whites and blacks. Mencken must have had

Back then, black people could hardly read or write and they were not offered the
education to learn so. Once Richard took out the books, he headed back to the Irish
Catholic and told him that the librarian might telephone him. It is to make sure that
the books were for him and not for Richard. If Richard gets caught taking out the
books and reading it for himself, he will get in big trouble for it.
Richard first book was A Book of Prefaces, which was written by Mencken. He was
surprised on how Mencken fought with words in the book, and he was shocked
with his style. When he couldn t understand some words, he had to use a dictionary
to help him out. After he read the book, he felt that he had experienced something
new, I hungered for books, new ways of looking and seeing. It was not a matter of
believing or disbelieving what I read, but of feeling something new, of being
affected by something that made the look of the world different. (pg.323) Books
had made him view the world differently and they opened his eyes. Every time he
read a book, he could not put it down. The mood of it lingered, coloring everything
he saw, heard, did. He identified himself with the books he read, and it made him
vaguely guilty. Would I, filled with bookish notions, act in a manner that would
make the whites dislike me? he questioned himself and it made him feel isolated
from the world around him. Every time he reads a book, he learns

and relation of dopamine receptors in locomotor activity, a total number of 24

BACKGROUND: shift work is a very common characteristic in healthcare and has
been associated with work related stress.
OBJECTIVE: In this study, we investigated the relationship between current shift
work and work related stress symptoms among healthcare workers from a clinical
setting in Medellin, Colombia.
METHODS: a cross sectional study was conducted from January to July 2014,
Participants completed demographic, occupational and lifestyle questionnaire, and a
self reported work related stress symptoms instrument.
RESULTS: The Study sample consisted of 160 (80%) females and 40 (20%) males.
Mean age was 35.1 В± 9.1. Overall, no significant differences were seen in
physiological, social behavior, intellectual and occupational and psych emotional
symptoms in shift workers compared to day workers. In a stratified analysis,
statistically significant differences were observed in physiological and psycho
emotional symptoms means in the group conformed by nurses and nursing assistants.

CONCLUSIONS:
Keywords: shift work, work related stress, healthcare
Introduction
Shift work has become increasingly common due to recent changes in economics
and political trends. It is estimated that in industrialized countries, approximately
20% of jobs use this type of work modality. (1) European and North American
surveys reported that between 15 to 30% of the adult worker population is exposed
to shift work. (2, 3). According to the First National

Paris was the target of multiple terrorist attacks on November 13. Over 129 people
were killed, and 350 more were injured. The most deaths occurred at the concert of a
U.S. rock group. Hostages were taken at this location, and suicide bombers attacked
several other locations. This is not the first terrorist attackin Paris, another one took
place less than a year ago at the headquarters of the Charlie Hebdo newspaper. Both
of these attacks were claimed by ISIS to be their own. They have taken over much
of Iraq and Syria and have beheaded several journalist and Christians. The authorities

the terrorist were killed by the police or their own bombs. Most of
Serena Williams, The French Open Final Saturday Essay
Serena Williams lost the French Open final Saturday to Garbine Muguruza. It
marked her third failed attempt to win a 22nd singles Grand Slam title, which
would tie the Open era record set by Steffi Graf. Williams was extremely gracious
in defeat as she addressed the crowd at Roland Garros in French. The tennis icon
can afford to be gracious these days: She earned $28.9 million over the past 12
months. That makes her the world s highest paid female athlete over that span,
unseating Maria Sharapova, who had held the title the past 11 years.
US player Serena Williams returns the ball to Netherlands Kiki Bertens during their
women s semi final match at the Roland Garros 2016 French Tennis Open in Paris on
June 3, 2016.
A drug suspension dinged Sharapova s earnings, but Williams was likely to grab
the title of top paid female athlete even with Sharapova not sidelined. Williams, 34,
has dominated her sport for a decade and a half. She won her second Grand Slam in
2002 and has added 19 more since then. Her career prize money of $77.6 million is
more than twice as much as any other female athlete.
Her late career tear has made Williams a compelling figure for marketers. She ranks
second among active athletes, behind only LeBron James in the U.S., on Repucom
s CelebrityDBI, which tracks consumer perceptions of celebrities based on
awareness, as well as seven attributes. Her 89% awareness level ranks in the top 3%

Oedipa s Search For Truth In The Crying Of Lot 49
Oedipa s search for truth is caught in a paradox: On one hand, she is (or at least
believes she is) in search of absolute meaning; on the other hand, that meaning is
concentrated around herself and is shutting her off from the world around her in a
subjective circle of signification where the communicational void she wishes to
escape is filled with illusions of meaning. Oedipa s search is fueled by a belief that it
will bring to an end her encapsulation in her tower (Pynchon 31). The complication to
her journey is that all language (truth, communication, meaning, etc....) is founded in
entropy, on a waste of force that alone makes possible the fictional constitution of
abstract truth. In The Crying of Lot 49, Pynchon uses the ideas of entropy in
thermodynamicsand information theory (through Maxwell s Demon) to more fully
delve into Oedipa s paradoxical search for meaning in a world that has created,
forgotten, and rediscovered it s own truth.
Thermodynamics is the study of the relationship between heat and other energies. It
deals with the changes within a system if the energy distribution in that system is
unbalanced. Thermodynamic entropy is the measure of this chaos in the universe.
In beginning of The Crying of Lot 49, Oedipa Maas realizes that she exists within
the confinement of [a] tower, (11) that is similar to a closed system. Entropy thrives
in closed systems; therefore, if she does not open her system she is doomed to slow
degradation, till she is nothing
The Road to Bankruptcy of Detroit City Essays
The inevitable is no less a shock because it is inevitable ~ Jamaica Kincaid
Founded in 1701 by nearly 100 French settlers, Pontchartrain du Detroit was not
doomed to bankruptcy. Located near epicenters of trade including the Canadian
Border and the Detroit River and rich in resources Detroit, from a geographic sense,
was a city established on lands destined to prosper. Turning into an industrial
powerhouse in the 20th century, the city saw an enormous boom in both population
and industrial prosperity with the growth of the iron stove, railroad car, and ship
building industries. It wasn t until auto manufacturing renaissance initiated with the
founding of Henry Ford Co. in 1910 that Detroit began it s nearly 100 year long
descent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first factor in Detroit s collapse was the undeniable success of the auto industry.
The expansion of the big three auto producers, Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors
led the charge. In addition to dominating the auto industry, the big three were largely
responsible for the success of local business throughout Detroit. Direct suppliers
towards the auto companies themselves, and the subsequent services provided to the
auto workers and their families composed the majority of Detroit business. The rapid
expansion of the auto industry resulted in the industry s decentralization with the city
limits of Detroit and caused the expansion of the outlying areas surround Detroit.
The decentralization of industry had profound effects on the geography and on the
population of the city. The movement of jobs out of the city accelerated the process
of suburbanization, as autoworkers who could move followed their jobs. This trend
is demonstrated by Census data, showing that following the creating of new auto
plants outside the city of Detroit resulted in the total population dropping by nearly
300,0000 citizens by 1960. Following this decentralization, the auto industry
suffering from international competition and rising oil prices, was unable to sustain
the levels of economic output seen in years prior; and as a result, became a less
desirable place to live for both workers looking to relocate and current residents.

Changing The Oil In A Car s Engine
How To Change the Oil in your Car s Engine
Automobiles are American s second largest investment after real estate. It is
impoprtant to understand how to keep your car performing at its best.
The major components of a car consist of the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension
, and tires. The purpose of this essay is to guide you through the process of changing
the oil in your car s engine.
An oil change is recommended every 3,000 to 5,000 miles depending on your
driving style and conditions. Your car is more likely to need an oil change at 3,000
miles if you live in a metropolitan area where you face stop and go traffic, polluted
air, and very hot temperatures.

4. Jack the car up about a foot to a foot and a half. Use the jack stands and put them
on both sides of the car. ** This is a very important procedure; in case the jack fails
(unlikely but can happen) you have something to hold up the car.
5. Look under the car to find your oil reservoir, use the socket wrench to remove
the nut. Before you do this, you should have an oil pan ready to keep the dirty oil.
After you unscrew the nut, you should see a stream of motor oil draining out of
the oil tank. Allow this process to occur for 5 10 minutes and make sure the oil is
going into the oil pan. This is the most annoying part of the entire procedure because
sometimes things can get messy. Also look for the oil filter and twist in open. We
are going to replace it with a new one in our next step.
6. Check in after 10 minutes, if you don?t see anymore oil dripping out, screw the
nut back in tightly and also screw on the new oil filter. Using a little bit of motor oil
on the rubber gasket will ensure a tight fit.
7. You are now almost done; make sure you have pulled everything out of the
bottom of the car. Now release the jack and let the car slowly come down to the
surface. Open the oil cap and pour in the quarts of motor oil into the oil tank. The
amount is specified in the owner?s manual. Close the oil cap and proceed to start
your car. Shut the car off;
Designing A Product, An Advertiser

Covergirl, their audience is mainly women but it is for makeup enthusiast.
Covergirl always tailors their advertisements in the same way. There is always a

dramatically and she is always flawless with a clear complexion, contoured skin, full
pink lips, bright eyes and perfectly styled hair. There is always a bold element or

The Importance Of Professionalism In Pharmacy, At The...
Having professional etiquette is one of the most important factors that contribute to a
successful healthcare career. Professionalism within health care includes values to
promote the good of every patient in a compassionate, caring and respectful manner.
In the article, At the Pharmacy, Chekhov instructs pharmacists as to what they
should not do in regards to lack of empathy, attention, and interaction towards the
patient, which ultimately leads to the deterioration of the patient s health. In fact,
the pharmacist should be concerned about the patient s worries, and create an
environment where care, trust, and effective communication is used to address the
patient s concerns, as well as ensure the efficient delivery of prescriptions. The
pharmaceutical practice has gone beyond the role of medicine dispensary and has
acquired a significant role in the field of healthcare itself. Pharmacists are not only
experts in medicine but unique among other professionals because of their
accessibility as healthcare providers. They are more involved in educating patients
on the proper use and consistency of medications, solving different problems and
seeking new challenges day to day. I enjoy helping people and want to become an
advocate for improving the quality of life of my future patients as a whole, which
leads me to continue pursuing a career as a Pharmacist. It is also worthwhile
remembering Chekhov s assertion that, Science and medicine may change over the
years, but the

The chain is a timeline of all transaction blocks as discussed above. This chain itself
is a ledger that records in real time all events associated with the block and makes it
publicly visible. A new block can be added to the chain only when one of the
network nodes (participant) successfully solves a complex mathematical problem
that often requires high computing power, and gains the right to add the next block.
These complex, algorithm rich computations can also be called as proof of work
/stake computations, which make blockchain almost Sybil resistant, and its
decentralized nature gives it a high level of Byzantine Fault Tolerance . Complex,
algorithm rich proof of work computations also act as the consensus mechanism that
ensures a high level of data integrity to the transactions on blockchain and reduces
chances of falsified entries. People who use high computational power to solve
proof of work computations and add the blocks to the chain are called miners in
blockchain; they are also the network nodes. To briefly anatomize blockchain
transactions, transactions are initially encrypted and added to an online ledger. It is
further sent into the blockchain network where network nodes take them up in a
block and solve complex proof of work computations to add the next block onto the

and 50 s. Some are still watched and have been recreated in today s times: Snow
White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and Dumbo. Although not the first animated
movie to be created, Fantasia (1940) was the first movie to connect classical music
with animations. Directed by James Algar and released in 1940, this movie was the
first of its kind, using classical music and creating scenes with animations around that

Intercultural Competence Of International Recruiters37.
INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE OF INTERNATIONAL RECRUITERS37
Literature Review
Studies of intercultural competence over the past thirty years attempt to measure the
success or growth of an individual s knowledge, skills and attitudes in relation to
other cultures (Sinicrope, Norris Watanabe, 2007). Global learning outcomes such as
intercultural communication skills, intercultural adaptability, intercultural sensitivity,
intercultural maturity, and intercultural competence are skills that universities feel are
important to thrive in a diverse society where effective interactions with people from
other cultures is necessary (Deardorff, 2011; Fantini, Arias Galicia, Guay, 2001;
Trede, Bowles Bridges, 2013; Williams, 2005). Consequently,... Show more content

Educators need to justify program success by demonstrating annual increases in study
abroad participation numbers in addition to providing quality measures related to
cultural learning as well (Engle Engle, 2003; Medina LГіpez Portillo, 2004). Ideally,
students participating in a study abroad experience will gain an appreciation of their
own culture as well as develop sensitivity towards culturally distinct others
(Maharaja, 2009). Students who interact with people from diverse backgrounds will
hopefully accept cultural diversity and overcome negative stereotypes (Dong, Day,
Collaco, 2008). Scholars often associate cultural competency with the skills and
behaviors gained as individuals develop more complex levels of cultural sensitivity
(HernГЎndez Kose, 2012, p. 514). Cultural sensitivity is one of the key ingredients
needed to understand and engage in relationships with those from others from
dissimilar backgrounds (HernГЎndez Kose, 2012).
Numerous assessment tools, ranging from simple short surveys to more complex
behavioral and performance evaluations, attempt to measure intercultural competence
(Matsumoto Hwang, 2013; Sinicrope et al., 2007). Historically, study abroad
administrators focused on program logistics, staffing, safety matters, and recruiting

Analysis Of Mohsin Hamid s The Reluctant Fundamentalist
Mohsin Hamid s The Reluctant Fundamentalist provides an insight of the September
11th terrorist attacks on America and America s reaction from the view of a man,
Changez, who is Pakistani but living in America. His view of America is represented
through the character of Erica who embodies both the most positive and the most
negative aspects of American pre and post 9/11. Her acceptance of Changez is
overwhelming at first, embracing and reveling in his diversity. Yet, after the attacks,
she is unable to forget her relationship with her deceased boyfriend, Chris, turning
away from those around her into isolation. This overwhelming nostalgia proves to be
Erica s demise. This paper will assert that much like Erica, America suffered from its
own nostalgia after the events on 9/11. Changing from a time of embraced
multiculturalism, America longs to return to a simpler, more Christian time. At times
this means isolating itself from the world as it clings to American exceptionalism. Its
own isolation and nostalgia proves destructive to its beauty and light. Still, I will
further argue that not just America s nostalgia is problematic. The narrator himself
clings to the past greatness of Pakistan, one that makes him bitter and resentful about
international relations today. Hamid s The Reluctant Fundamentalist explores the
ways in which America became nostalgic in the 9/11 aftermath and how this nostalgia
became problematic; still, it is hypocritical in accusation as

Reflection Paper About Mentoring
Mentoring: Perspectives from the ProtГ©gГ©s
My life, admittedly, has been one of grace and privilege. I was born into a loving
home and grew up attending church with my mother and two sisters. My father,
while unsaved, was exemplary in his provision for our family. To date, I have
attended three excellent institutions of higher education and currently am serving full
time within a ministry of consequence one that actively seeks to make disciples both
locally and internationally. Throughout my life I have had men and women mentor
me. I thank God for my parents, for my coaches, for multiple Sunday school teachers,
employers, professors, and pastors who shared their life with me. I am indebted to
them.

ProtГ©gГ©s also verbalized that they simply want to know what is true. Their desire
is to be led from the text of Scripture and not only talk about truths but to understand
the process of discovering the truths for themselves. They do not want to just carry a
denominational line, but to own the point ...to defend the Truth to their friends...to
know the strength of our positions. They want to know the truth, but they also want
to own it.
This is both a challenge and a blessing to the mentor. The challenge is in being
willing to hear the protГ©gГ© s questions without offense and to answer them with
wisdom, grace, and transparency. The blessing is in seeing another life grow in a
genuine love for Christ.
Authentic
Mentoring is effective when the mentor s words match their life choices. This is a
necessary trait. These non bifurcated mentors are the same inside the classroom as
they are outside the classroom; their lives are genuine, authentic, true, and consistent .
The truth that is taught in church is also the truth that is in their hearts.
Often the protГ©gГ© will watch for this trait during isolated moments of life...
moments when life is most uneventful. They watch how the way a mentor speaks to

The Pandemic of Influenze Essay
With a huge number of victims, 80 to 100 million, since 1918, the influenza is
considered as one of the most pandemic diseases ever. There are three types of
influenza virus: influenza virus A, influenza virus B, and influenza virus c. These
are a subtypes of the virus family orthomyx oviride. The types B and C do not
cause pandemic diseases while type A does. The type A classified into three main
subtype H1.N1, H1.N2, and H3.N2. The (H.N) refers to the two kinds of proteins on
the surface of the virus (hemagglutinin and neuraminidase). The difference in
numbers is due to the difference in protein variability. A H1.N1 virus which is widely
known as Spanish flu is the only type that can transmit from human to human. The

Simultaneously, 1.5 million birds were killed to contain the virus. The symptoms of

followed by a cough. Then the host (humans) starts to experience a difficulty in
breathing and a severe pain in the stomach most of it ends with diarrhea a disease
happens when our digestive system are not able any more to absorb liquids and
minerals. A further exposure to the virus can lead to shock, the respiratory system
stop working completely, and the other vital organs like liver fail to function
normally and eventually death may occur.
As already mentioned, the H5.N1 is a subtype of an influenza A type. This type
consists of RNA. This RNA names as HA and NA. The HA is glycoproteins found
on the surface of the virus. This special protein helps the virus to bind to the host
cell. While NA is glycosylated enzyme sits on the surface as well. It helps to
release the virus from the host cell. In reality, the least pathogenic virus is H5.N1

some changes occur, which means new progeny. When the RNA of two viruses

Shamanism Research Paper
Shamanism
To truly understand the meaning of shamanism one must uncover the original
definition. The word shaman comes from the language of the Evenk, a small Tungus
speaking group of hunters and reindeer herders from Siberia. It was first used only
to designate a religious specialist from this region. By the beginning of the 20th
century it was already being applied to a variety of North America and South
American practices from the present and the past. Today people have gone as far as
defining the word shaman as any human that acknowledges that he/she has had
contact with spiritual entities. Well at least the term still refers to human beings.

The fact is that well philosophers can speculate, even by the vaguest definition of
shamanism they can not prove that these individuals were taking part in these trance
like states without written or physical proof.
Due to the theory of shamanism being introduced into the Mesoamerican culture
because of the writings of Eliade and Furst, it seems only fair to look carefully at the
relevance to their interpretations. Eliade had originally acknowledged the oddity
concerning the concept of shamanism and, in turn, took it into his own hands to
create a version this concept himself. (Klein, pg. 388) I can not reasonable enter into
the idea of this model that he has created. He clearly explains the existence of
shamanism in Siberia and inner Asia, in which there has been, documented proof.
The idea that because this is happening there does not prove that it was happening
over 2000 years ago across the world. He fails to connect the two areas, in time and
place, feasible. It is extremely interesting that only Eliade s point of view is found in
the Encyclopedia of Religion. (Eliade 201 208)
Despite Furst s attempt to redefine shamanism in terms of specific American
religious beliefs and practices, the new criteria he provided have proved to be as
unreliable as Eliade s. It repeatedly insists that the concepts of the universe divided
horizontally into an upper world, a terrestrial middle world, and an underworld in the
sense that
Analysis Of The Poem Oranges And Small Town With One...
Poetry is a creative art expressed through words and created through passion, prior
experience and multiple outer influences. Gary Soto is a famous poet who
blossomed in the late 20th century. Soto used different variations of poetry tools to
create expressive poems based on his own life experience. While Soto wrote many
different poems, the poems Oranges and Small Town With One Road stand out and
can be deeply analyzed. Both poems are strongly emphasized with his past
experiences in life. Gary Soto writes poems about hope, diversity and harshness of
life, because he relates to his own personal experience while conveying his meaning
through the poems.
Gary Soto was born in Fresno, California in April 12, 1952. Soto s grandparents
were immigrants from mexico, leading to him being born to a mexican american
working family which struggled to find work( Gary Soto, Poetry foundation). Soto s
father died when he was five which affected his future poetry. Growing up as a
mexican in the middle of the 20th century, Gary was exposed to the harshness of
belonging to a mexican family in america which he later wrote in his poetry( Gary
Soto, Poets.org). Gary started working in the fields and factories at a young age, he
was not academically motivated in grade school but became interested in poetry in
high school( Gary Soto, Poetry Foundation). In high school, his influencers in
literature were Ernest Hemingway, Jules Verne, John Steinbeck and Robert Frost.

Monstrosity In The Monster
Friedrich Nietzsche once said, Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the
process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss,
the abyss will gaze back into you . The term monster comes from the word monД“re,
which means to warn. Monsters are used to reveal or make reality a situation that is
often left ignored. Often the word monsterbrings up any stories such as Frankenstein,
Dracula, and Beowulf. The stories of these monsters have a lasting impact on
generations because of their ability to captivate audiences both young and old.
Cultures around the world have a connection with monstrosity. Throughout history,
we have the opportunity to witness the struggle between mankind and the beast.
Sadly, very few have yet discovered the true connection between monstrosity and
humanity. Throughout the years, in the quest for control, humanity has created a
merciless beast very few understand. The true monster in these stories are us, humans.
These creatures are paying the price because of society s ruthless behaviors.
Monsters originate in folklore, which is found and almost every culture. With
folklore, you can pass down family traditions, history, and discipline. It connects us
to the outside world , and provides us with the major challenges faced in our society.
Monsters are used to reveal a situation that is left ignored. Merriam Webster defines
Monsters as, an imaginary creature that is typically large, ugly, and frightening . These

Louis Riel Summary
The second part of the comic strip biography Louis Riel by Chester Brown, starts
off in early September 1870 in St. Joseph, Dakota territory. Louis Riel is reading a
note which talks about how the Canadian soldiers have wreaked havoc on the Red
River Colony. It talks about how some MГ©tis men had been murdered and quite a
few were beaten. Women had also been raped in the settlement too. The Canadian
soldiers have brought a reign of fear to the Red River settlement. This is an excerpt
from the note Louis Rielwas reading. Also, Schultz returned and was basically
running things. The comic strip biography then fasts forwards to the summer of
1871. Louis Riel is reading another note now. This one is talking about how the land
the people of the settlement had been promised by the Canadian government was
being given to people from Eastern Canada. The exceptional rich farmland was being
given to the British farmers and the requests for land were being delayed. After this
Riel goes to his mother s house in the settlement and finds that many of the soldiers
have went home. His mother though, warns him to lay low. The story then shifts and
fast forwards to Ottawa in the December of 1871, about five to seven months later.
Father Ritchot has arranged a meeting with John Alexander Macdonald to discuss
amnesty for Louis Riel s crimes. Father Ritchot immediately confronts John
Alexander Macdonald, demanding to know why the amnesty was not granted. John

The North Face
The North Face is a rapidly growing brand that started out as a small shop in San
Francisco, California. It was founded by two hikers as a small mountaineering retail
shop, but has since taken off to become a world renowned chain with high quality
outdoor clothing and gear. The quality and variety of the brandhas encouraged the
extreme sport goers to continue to shop and spread the word of its reliability. This
is important for a lot of the consumers because the Earth is nothing to mess with.
They need reliable outerwear to keep them warm if they are climbing Mount
Everest or even if they are just skiing down some easy bunny slopes in Colorado.
The growth rate of the business alone shows the quality of the brand, but is not the
only reason the brand has done so well. The logoplays a huge role in the spread of a
business. All it takes is a glance at someone s jacket for a new customer to discover
the iconic brand.
The North Face logo is brilliant in the fact that it is simple yet unmistakable. At first
glance, one might consider The North Face logo is too simple, but in reality that is
the beauty of it. This simple logo design helps a viewer stray away from any
unintended conclusions by random bystanders. It is evident the designer of this logo
used many of Gestalt s laws when constructing the logo. One might think Gestalt s
laws are completely optional in a well constructed logo, but that is not entirely the
case. A scientific study was conducted in order to determine
Consequences Of Prejudice
To Kill a Mockingbird: The Physical Effects Of Prejudice The consequences of
prejudice can be to the biggest or to the smallest extent as seen in the classic, To

the characters throughout the novel experience the uniting commonality of being
considered outcasts in their society. This is depicted through Harper s writing when
Dolphus Raymond is victimized due to his actions, Boo Radley s reputation
becomes forever tarnished and Atticus is besmirched by the citizens of Maycomb.

The Scarlet Pimpernel Film Analysis
In the book, The Scarlet Pimpernel, the de Tournay family narrates their escape from
France. This event is shown in the movie, but not very convincingly since most of the
acting is poor. Perhaps the director wanted to add more action to the beginning since
he took away much of the drama and excitement in the ending. The book is better
because of more notable characters, more variety of settings, more romantic gestures,
and overall, a more interesting storyline.
Mr. Jellyband, Sally, and the Fisherman s Rest, the restaurant where spies meet, are
excluded from the film entirely, resulting in the loss of important settings and scenes.

appearance in the story), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both the movie and the book have the same burned paper scene and Percy s sleeping
scene, but the book version relates the Scarlet Pimpernel leaving a note for
Chauvelin. Marguerite tells Percy that her brother, Armand, is in danger. In the
movie the reason for Marguerite sending the Marquis de St. Cyr to the guillotine is
that the Marquis s son asked Marguerite to marry him. She was arrested while the
Marquis had Armand beaten for loving the Marquis s daughter in the book version.
Percy practically reveals to his wife that he is the Scarlet Pimpernel after she tells
him that she has betrayed the Scarlet Pimpernel. Marguerite determines that Percy
is the pimpernel from a signatory ring in a painting instead of a gold ring in his
office. This can be attributed to a movie director s choice. Marguerite is captured
in a cabin instead of tackled and held down by a soldier. This could be for the
safety of the actress. Sir Percy tricks and captures Chauvelin but since Chauvelin has
Marguerite, Percy surrenders in exchange for her freedom. The Scarlet Pimpernel s
agents dress as soldiers and save Sir Percy. The couple then leaves for England.
The book is better because there are more characters, more romantic gestures, more
settings, and an even more interesting storyline than the movie version. Sir Percy s
genius is not as obvious, and neither is Marguerite s wit. The

What Role Do Emotions Play In Decision Making
1. Explain the role that emotions play in decision making.
Emotions play a very important role in decision making. When making any
decision, my first question to myself is, what would make me feel good or lead to
my happiness? If I don t use that thought process, and for example act out of anger
or vengeance, my decisions are never ideal.
2. What is meant by emotional balance?
For me, emotional balance is when I can feel my emotions but not be dictated by
them.
3. What steps can you take to maintain emotional balance in your life?
You should be truthful about how you feel, while at the same time, keep calm and an
open mind.
4. In this lesson, you also examined handling decisions and coping with peer
pressure. Peer pressure often makes it difficult ... Show more content on

Question: Should I go with Kelly for a joyride?
Option One: Go with Kelly
Plus: It would be fun
Minus: I could get seriously injured and/or be involved in the damage of expensive
property
If I pick this option: I ll have a lot of fun spending time with Kelly, but I d be
disobeying Kelly s parents and there is a good chance we ll get in a car accident.
Option Two: Say no to Kelly
Plus: I ll be safe and unaccountable for anything that happens with the sports car
Minus: I would be missing an opportunity to have fun and ride a sports car
If I pick this option: I won t have to worry about getting injured or having anything
to do with anything that happens to Kelly s parents car, but I ll miss out on some
fun with Kelly and a ride in a sports car.
My Decision: I won t go with Kelly on a joyride because the risks are too
dangerous. Instead, I ll suggest that she return the car and another way for us to have
fun together (i.e. go to the water park, have a sleep over,

Catcher In The Rye- Movie Proposal Essay examples
Movie Proposal:
The Catcher in the Rye
To the Producer:
The Catcher in the Rye, a contemporary novel by J.D. Salinger, is a thought
provoking, fascinating look at society s values and issues in the 1950 s. This book
would make an excellent transition to film because it is full of both action and
implication. It focuses on a four day period of time in the life of a sixteen year old
cynic with emotional problems. The book follows Holden Caulfield as he struggles
with others and himself to find his way through the phoniness and disillusionment
involved in his adolescent life. These struggles essentially make up the novel,
occurring during a long flashback of the four days as he ... Show more content on

If possible, the author should be contacted for opinions and criticism throughout the
filming of the movie.
The beginning of the movie could or could not be modified from the beginning of
the book; either way would still appropriately capture the atmosphere of the
psychoanalyst and Holden. One way to begin is by actually showing Holden lying in
a psychoanalyst s office, where he begins his narration. The camera would then fade
into Pencey Prep, with Holden standing atop Thomsen Hill. Another approach could
just be to begin directly with the scene on the hill, with Holden voicing over the
picture.
Of course, not every scene could have narration. Otherwise the movie would be
unrealistic. Some of the thoughts that run through Holden s head would have to
become dialogue, for example, Holden would mumble Phony under his breath while
talking to certain characters.
Locations:
All of the scenes occurring at Pencey would be filmed at another prep school

Shang Dynasty Compare And Contrast Essay
Asia and China were both prosperous empires in the ancient world. Both were
forming flourishing civilizations that became successful through few similar
characteristics and different aspects that allowed them to become awe worthy and
memorable. The basis of them becoming able to thrive were their geographic location
and the climate that they were provided with. Two booming civilizations from each
empire that capture the true essence of each civilization are The Indus valley
civilization in India, The Shang Dynasty and The Zhou Dynasty.
Asia and India both are similar within location, but their few differences work for
both advantages and disadvantages. Both India and China are located within Asia, but
India is in southern Asia bordering the
Pros And Cons Of Omelas
Omelas is a dystopian society, that is perfect in every way imaginable, but it can
only exist if this one kid is mistreated severely. They lock him or her in a room
below a building, do not provide him or her with proper nourishment, and show
him or her no affection what so ever. By exploiting one child the city is able to
provide thousands with all the joy and love they could ever want. Omelas seems to
suggest that prosperous countries are built off moral compromise and by dismissing
negative thoughts from the psyche people are willing to do this. On a psychological
level, people dismiss the idea of the kid suffering to alleviate their guilty conscience
to keep the community functioning. It is kind of like a repressed memory. Some...

Prosperous countries such as England, France, and Spain established many
colonies during their imperialistic expansion in the 1800 s. When they would
colonize these places, they would enslave the native population in exchange for
wealth and crops. By exploiting a few natives on a small island somewhere, these
countries were able to boost their economies and power. Just as Omelas took
advantage of the one child, these countries would establish control of a small
population and use them for a so called greater good. Migrant workers are taken
advantage of similarly as well. Places like the United States take advantage of a
market of people who are desperate for money to support their families; so
desperate that they are willing to accept illegally low wages to support them.
These migrant workers are much like the child in the cellar. Ursula Guin describes
the child as, becoming imbecile through fear, malnutrition, and neglect. This could
be seen as a parallel between the child and migrant workers/slaves because they
were not provided the best living quarters, fed small quantities of food that wouldn
t pass an inspection in the most grueling prisons, and lived in fear of being
deported or receiving lashes from their master. By exploiting small groups of people,
westernized countries have been able to create a small slice of Omelas within the
world for
History And History Of Medicaid Program
History of Medicaid In 1965 president Lyndon Johnson authorized regulation that
established the Medicaid program. The program has since grown from its origins as
a health coverage program for welfare recipients into a public health insurance
program for the nation s low income population covering millions of additional
children and adults in added categories living in or near poverty. Medicaidis
administered by states, according to federal requirements. (Medicaid.gov, 2015)

government establishes certain parameters for all states to adhere, each state

152), jointly known as the Affordable Care Act. This law was created to upsurge
availability to healthcare, make health insurance more affordable, strengthen the
Medicare program and ensures that Americans have more rights and privileges to
insurance coverage when it is needed most. The Affordable Care Act provides
states with the opportunity to increase admittance to Medicaid program for low
income individuals and families. The federal government will cover 100% of the
costs of new applicants for three years then decrease it gradually to 90% of the costs
in subsequent years (HHS.gov, 2016)
Policy Goals and Objectives
The ultimate goal of expanded Medicaid is to provide more security for those with
insurance coverage and offer equitable coverage to those that are not insured.
The Affordable Care Act was passed by Congress and then signed into law by the
President on March 23, 2010. On June 28, 2012 the Supreme Court rendered a final
decision to uphold the health care law.
The Objectives are to:
Improve health care quality and patient safety
Emphasize primary and preventive care, linked with community prevention services
Reduce the growth of health care costs while promoting high value, effective care
Ensure access to quality, culturally competent care, including long term services and
supports, for vulnerable populations
Improve health care and population health through
Computer, Robotics, And Automation Are Driving More
And...
Computers, robotics, and automation are driving more and more of production. In
turn this is leading to an enormous impact on the number and type of jobs. An
Australian report released in June 2015 found that 40 per cent of the Australian
workforce or around 5 million jobs are at high risk of being replaced by computers
in the next 10 15 years. This backs up the Oxford Martin School s 2013 study finding
47 per cent of jobs in the United States are at risk of being automated using artificial
intelligence. We need to move urgently from a discussion about protecting the jobs of
today, to creating the jobs of the future.1 3.2 Commercialisation and innovation There
are significant emerging opportunities and challenges for commercialisation and
innovation resulting from technological changes to becoming a more sustainable,
broad based economy: Reducing the tyranny of distance, boosting trade and creating
new business models but also promoting outsourcing of work overseas.
Internationalising labour markets are expanding the skilled labour pool. Developing
commercially functional goods and services from new technologies often takes a lot
longer than expected. Leveraging clean technologies to improve sustainability.

Presidential Election Of The United States
After almost two years on the campaign trail, the United States of America has
finally elected its new president, Donald Trump. No that is not a typo, this is real
life. It was a hard fought battle between Hillary Clinton and the Donald which
ultimately lead to one of the most shocking upsets in recent American politics. Being
that the odds were heavily stacked against Trump as poll after poll predicted Clinton
be the victor, it was to the astonishment of many that he reigned victorious during this
2016 presidential electioncycle. Be it the will of the country (or in this case electoral
college ) this poisonous cheeto will now be the 45th president of the United States. So
how did this happen, what was it about Trump that pushed voter behavior in his favor
in many key battleground states? Trumps victory lies in the hands of the silent
majority who at this point were dying for change and saw it within the republican
nominee. The biggest contributing factor to Trump s win on November 8 was
retrospective votingwhich a lot of voters clearly engaged in this election cycle. When
making the decision of who to vote for during an election, voters often tend to start
looking within at their own situation before throwing their support at a candidate.
Questioning whether ones is better off now than they were before the previous
election is known as retrospective voting. This concept is the idea that voters take
into consideration factors such as the performance a political party ,

1.3.2.CELL ANATOMY
The cell theory proposes that all organisms are composed of cells and hence cells
are the fundamental unit of all life. Human cells are typically 5 to 100 Вµm in size
and therefore cannot be viewed without the use of a microscope [1]. They are,
however, extremely organized, being responsible for the biochemical processes that
are essential to sustain the life of an organism. Cells are compartmentalised in order
to increase the efficiency of the biochemical processes as well as protect the genetic
information. Such compartments are called organelles which are each bound by their
own membrane and each serve a specialised function. Humans are made up of

Religious Beliefs And Practices For A Catholic Church
Mini Ethnography Religious beliefs and practices give several cultural purposes. It
was to be my first sight in a Catholic Church. Whenever I thought about a Catholic
Church, I would predict several different cultures and ethnicities joining under one
roof for a formal gathering along with a priest to worship someone or something.
Distinctive Roman Catholic beliefs include the special authority of the pope, the
ability of saints to intercede on behalf of believers, the concept of purgatory as a
place of afterlife purification before entering heaven, and the doctrine of
transubstantiation (Catholicism, 3). Located in Hemet, California the church, Our
lady of the valley was very small and in the middle of a small neighborhood. On the...

With that being said, there wasn t ever anyone new that went to the church unless
they lived in the area or were introduced by someone that goes there. Everyone knew
each other that attended and was a very close subculture. By Catholic subculture, I
mean the network of institutions, organizations, programs and resources of many
kinds that provided important support for the religious identity of Catholics while at
the same time assisting Catholic parents in transmitting that identity from one
generation to the next (Shaw, 21).
As I sat down on one of the benches in the chapel, I noticed that there was a wide
variety of ethnicities including, Caucasians, Mexicans and a family that was African
American that I later found out they attend the church every Sunday and were not
just visiting. Most of the crowd were families containing infants to elders. Although,
the remaining of the people were an equal amount of both male and female adults. All
of the different cultures and ethnicities coming together under one roof once a week
they all share something in common. The faith in their religion, Catholicism, is
extremely important to them. Regardless of what their background is, where they
came from or how they ended up at this church they were all there for one reason,
their faith.

Analysis Of The Poem The Starlin Epigram
Osip Mandelstam was one of the most complex and mysterious Russian poets who
wrote symbolic poems in the totalitarian time. The Stalin Epigram is the example of
such texts, after which the poet was deported to Siberia. It seems different than his
previous poems since it has simple and concise style, which directly express
Mandelstam s criticism of the Stalinist regime. However, the poem contains many
conceptual and intertextual citations, therefore, it is the encrypted message that
should be decoded by the intelligent reader. Also the images of mountaineer and
prison embody the despotic and anti human regime, where human life means nothing,
so it could be sacrificed for the totalitarian goals. The Poem The Starlin Epigram used
imagery... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The central image of the poem is the figure of mountaineer, who embodies Stalin as
the unattainable and, at the same time, abstract person. For Mandelstam, Kremlin
refers to a mountain fortress of Stalin, which is one of the most accurate image in
the poem. Due to this association, he enhances the overall atmosphere of
hopelessness and depression that the Leader created. At some point, the poet
associates Stalin/mountaineer with a mythical monster: The ten thick worms his
fingers/ His words like measures of weight (Mandelstam 5 6). Consequently, the
poet refers to the ambivalent situation that was directly related with the totalitarian
regime of Stalin: he was always near and far at the same time. On the one hand,
everyone is afraid to say a suspicious word, because the half men control every
move. On the other hand, Stalin is in his castle, and no one knows if he ever exists.
It allows the poet to create a vivid image of Stalin, who has thick fingers and the
huge laughing cockroaches (Mandelstam 7), which transform the real person into
something archaic and distant, but still awful. Generally, the poem represents Stalin
as a terrible person, who had the criminal past, and, therefore, cannot be a leader of
any country. There is one significant image that indicates the past of Stalin: He rolls
the executions of his tongue like berries (Mandelstam 15). The image of barriers
refers to a
The Effects of Dynasties
Three main dynasties that affected Chinese heritage, culture, economy and society
were the Sui, Tang and Song dynasties. Each of these dynasties were significant into
further building and creating China. Two out of three succeeded. Sui Dynasty was the
second shortest dynasty, lasted only 38 years. The Tang Dynastylasted almost 300
years and helped continue to improve Chinabased on the results of the Sui Dynasty.
The Song Dynasty followed after lasting only a few years because there was too
much to do in order to fix the ruins from the downfall of the Tang Dynasty. The Sui
Dynasty began in 581 and ended in 618. During the 38 years it lasted there were three
different emperors who all made significant changes. After the tyrannical... Show

Economically the Tang dynasty also implemented an equal distribution system in
order to increase taxes, and production, while ensuring the livelihood of the working
families. Under this particular system the government would distribute similar
portions of farmland to all qualifying males until they reached the retirement age of
sixty. Socially, the government was in favor of the people doing a lot to take care
of them and ensure their livelihood so the people remained at peace until religion got
involved which eventually caused the downfall of their dynasty. The Song Dynasty
began in 960 and ended in 1270. During the period it lasted, it didn t mount up to the
previous two dynasties. The Sung rulers of that time encountered more problems than
the previous rulers of their dynasties. After the downfall of the Tang Dynasty
rebuilding it was too difficult which made the Song Dynasty non long lasting.
Socially, politically and economically the dynasty was an epic fail. Rebuilding it was
too difficult and the people remained unhappy making the Song Dynasty an
unpleasant era. Each of the three dynasties affected China differently. The Sui
Dynasty set it off with their new form of government and expansion in the skill
industry. After the second tyranny emperor stepped down and the new one stepped up,
Causes Of Tyranny
Henry VIII, Joseph Stalin, Ivan IV, Adolf Hitler, Kim Jong II, and more are all tyrants
who inflicted tyranny on their people. Throughout history many tyrants have
oppressed their citizens with unfair and harsh treatment and have gotten away with it.
Tyranny is known as a cruel, unreasonable, or arbitrary use of power or control
inflicted by an oppressive government or ruler. Even though this sadistic behavior
continues today, it doesn t in the United Statesof America. In 1775 to 1783, the
American Revolutionary War, also known as the U.S. War of Independence, took
place. This was a conflict that arose form growing tensions between residents of
Great Britain s 13 North American colonies and the tyrannical British Crown. In
response to the callous treatment, a group of colonial delegates (including George
Washington of Virginia, John and Samuel Adams or Massachusetts, Patrick Henry
of Virginia, and john jay of New York) met in Philadelphia in September 1774 to
give voice to their grievances against the British Crown, which is formally known as
the First Continental Congress. By June 1776, with the Revolutionary War in full
swing, a growing majority of the colonists had come to favor independence from
Britain resulting in the continental Congress drafting the Declaration of
Independence on July 4. The thirteen colonies officially declared their independence
from the tyrant ruler known as King George III of Britain. Eleven years later, in the
summer of 1787, fifty five

The Library Field At A Young Age
Introduction I became interested in the library field at a young age. Through school
library programs and trips to the public library with my family I developed an
appreciation for the library as a place and for the talented men and women who
staffed the library. This appreciation continued through my time at Southern
Connecticut State University, where I earned my BS in information and library
science in the winter of 2011. It was in through the university s library, Hilton C.
Buley library, that I revived my first professional experience in the field of library
science. I worked for three years at Buley as a student worker in the access services
department. During these three years I felt an immense sense of fulfillment in my
work which propelled me to further my education in the field and enroll at San
Jose State University. After graduating from Southern Connecticut State
University, I worked for a brief time at West Haven Public Library in West Haven,
Connecticut as a part time library assistant. I found the transformation from an
academic library to public library broadened my thoughts and opinions concerning
library policies and patron interaction. Nonetheless, I found work at public libraries
just as fulfilling as my work at Buley. In the fall of 2012 I was offered a full time
position at Hilton C. Buley library as a library technical assistant and evening
supervisor for access services. Due to limited funding and budget cuts my position

Essay On Leadership Skills. 021 Maxresdefault Short Essay On Leadership Thatsnotus

  • 1. Essay On Leadership Skills Crafting an essay on the subject of leadership skills is a task that demands a nuanced understanding of the topic and a thoughtful exploration of various dimensions associated with effective leadership. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a comprehensive overview of leadership but also in delving into the intricacies of different leadership styles, their impact on team dynamics, and the evolving nature of leadership in contemporary contexts. One challenge in writing such an essay is the need for extensive research to grasp the theoretical foundations of leadership. This involves studying classic leadership theories, contemporary models, and the empirical evidence supporting or challenging these concepts. Additionally, one must stay updated on current leadership trends, as the landscape is constantly evolving. The essay should not only cover the theoretical aspects but also provide practical insights. Drawing from real-world examples and case studies is crucial to illustrate the application of leadership skills in various scenarios. However, striking the right balance between theory and practice can be challenging, requiring careful consideration to avoid being too theoretical or overly anecdotal. Another hurdle is navigating the diverse perspectives on leadership. Different scholars and experts may have contrasting views on what makes a good leader, and the essay should acknowledge and critically engage with these perspectives. This requires a nuanced approach to present a well-rounded understanding while maintaining coherence in the overall argument. Furthermore, crafting a compelling introduction and conclusion is essential. The introduction should grab the reader's attention and clearly outline the scope and purpose of the essay. The conclusion should synthesize the key points and leave a lasting impression. Striking this balance between engaging the reader and summarizing complex ideas can be a formidable task. In summary, writing an essay on leadership skills involves navigating through theoretical frameworks, practical applications, diverse perspectives, and maintaining a cohesive narrative. It demands not only strong research and analytical skills but also effective communication to convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner. Despite the challenges, a well-crafted essay on leadership skills can be immensely rewarding in contributing to a deeper understanding of this critical subject. • 2. Tupac Amaru Rebellion Latin America was divided politically, economically, and socially throughout history, but the Catholic Church is one of the only factors that all regions of the country had in common. The Catholic Church was one of the most powerful institutions and influential elements in Latin America throughout the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. From rebellions to politics, the Church played an important role in multiple areas of historical significance. The importance of Catholicism during 18th century Latin Americawas clear during the Tupac Amaru Rebellion, which took place from 1780 to 1783. During this time, Catholicism was the dominant religion of Latin America. Amaru began his rebellion with his wife, Micaela Bastidas, in response to the Bourbon Reforms. Catholicism was one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, Amaru strived to achieve independence for indigenous Peruvians, and his Catholicism not only helped him persevere, but it also helped him explain the motivations for his actions. One of the major setbacks that Amaru faced during his rebellion was his excommunication from the Church. Since his religion was such a fundamental aspect of his life, one might think that his excommunication would cause him to lose motivation and prevent him from successfully completing his rebellion. However, Amaru s wife revealed during an interrogation session that her husband believed his excommunication was just one of many steps of God s plan for both Amaru and his wife. Instead of losing all motivation during his rebellion, Amaru was fearless about his removal from the Church because he believed that he and his wife were immune to excommunication (Stavig 126). Not only did Amaru use Catholicism to justify his
  • 3. Water Conservation And Its Effects On American Urban... Water Conservation How do we stabilize the use of water in American Urban cities without wasting too much money and drastically changing the lifestyles of people? When it comes to water conservation, there are two types of changes that are looked upon. There are little changes in the lifestyles of people and there are changes using technology. Within the two, the majority of people look at changes using technology, such as desalination and water recycling. In the other end, mostly environmentalists and vegan activists look at the amount of water eating food uses and how the agriculture industry uses about half the water in the United States. But is this really true? And which form of water conservation can be most efficient for the prolongment of the earth? Objective definitions are necessary in to understand what stabilization of the use of water really means. The Merriam Webster Definition of stabilize is to make stable, steadfast, or firm. To be stable is to be in a good state or condition that is not easily changed or likely to change, according to Merriam Webster. In this research paper, I will be using stabilization of water as efficiently using water and not letting it go to waste, such as the what The United States and other more developed country have already doing. Desalination is converting seawater into drinking water. Rainwater Harvesting is capturing water through rain and storing for later use. Green roofs are a form of rainwater harvesting where
  • 4. The Library Card Essay The Library Card, by Richard Wright is a strong essay on how books can affect and influence readers. Richard Wright writes that his first experience of the real world is accomplished through novels. He read an article criticizing H.L. Mencken and it tempted him to read some of his books. The article labeled Mencken as a fool. Wright wanted to know what this man had done to cause such hatred against him. I wondered what on earth this Mencken had done to call down upon him the scorn of the South. The only people I had ever heard denounced in the South were Negroes, and this man was not a Negro, (pg.319) Wright writes that tells us that the South was filled with racism and hatred among the whites and blacks. Mencken must have had ideas... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Back then, black people could hardly read or write and they were not offered the education to learn so. Once Richard took out the books, he headed back to the Irish Catholic and told him that the librarian might telephone him. It is to make sure that the books were for him and not for Richard. If Richard gets caught taking out the books and reading it for himself, he will get in big trouble for it. Richard first book was A Book of Prefaces, which was written by Mencken. He was surprised on how Mencken fought with words in the book, and he was shocked with his style. When he couldn t understand some words, he had to use a dictionary to help him out. After he read the book, he felt that he had experienced something new, I hungered for books, new ways of looking and seeing. It was not a matter of believing or disbelieving what I read, but of feeling something new, of being affected by something that made the look of the world different. (pg.323) Books had made him view the world differently and they opened his eyes. Every time he read a book, he could not put it down. The mood of it lingered, coloring everything he saw, heard, did. He identified himself with the books he read, and it made him vaguely guilty. Would I, filled with bookish notions, act in a manner that would make the whites dislike me? he questioned himself and it made him feel isolated from the world around him. Every time he reads a book, he learns

Experiment 1, injected METH and vehicle for six rats, Experiment 2 injected either vehicle or SCH23390 before injecting METH. Both tests measured locomotor activity in the chamber and following the day of experimentation groups, switched injection in each experiment. Euripedes used this tool in theaters for the audience to visualize the actions instead of cheapening the experience with the few special affects available to them. This drove her to betray her family and homeland of Colchis by aiding Jason in the retrieval of the Golden Fleece. After this she was forced to leave with Jason, who she later wed. After many years though, Jason fell for another and crossed Medea in a way no one should. This led Medea to thirst for a revenge far more devious then many can imagine. • 9. Serena Williams, The French Open Final Saturday Essay Serena Williams lost the French Open final Saturday to Garbine Muguruza. It marked her third failed attempt to win a 22nd singles Grand Slam title, which would tie the Open era record set by Steffi Graf. Williams was extremely gracious in defeat as she addressed the crowd at Roland Garros in French. The tennis icon can afford to be gracious these days: She earned $28.9 million over the past 12 months. That makes her the world s highest paid female athlete over that span, unseating Maria Sharapova, who had held the title the past 11 years. US player Serena Williams returns the ball to Netherlands Kiki Bertens during their women s semi final match at the Roland Garros 2016 French Tennis Open in Paris on June 3, 2016. A drug suspension dinged Sharapova s earnings, but Williams was likely to grab the title of top paid female athlete even with Sharapova not sidelined. Williams, 34, has dominated her sport for a decade and a half. She won her second Grand Slam in 2002 and has added 19 more since then. Her career prize money of $77.6 million is more than twice as much as any other female athlete. Her late career tear has made Williams a compelling figure for marketers. She ranks second among active athletes, behind only LeBron James in the U.S., on Repucom s CelebrityDBI, which tracks consumer perceptions of celebrities based on awareness, as well as seven attributes. Her 89% awareness level ranks in the top 3% of the nearly 4,000 celebrities Repucom follows, and she scores
  • 10. Oedipa s Search For Truth In The Crying Of Lot 49 Oedipa s search for truth is caught in a paradox: On one hand, she is (or at least believes she is) in search of absolute meaning; on the other hand, that meaning is concentrated around herself and is shutting her off from the world around her in a subjective circle of signification where the communicational void she wishes to escape is filled with illusions of meaning. Oedipa s search is fueled by a belief that it will bring to an end her encapsulation in her tower (Pynchon 31). The complication to her journey is that all language (truth, communication, meaning, etc....) is founded in entropy, on a waste of force that alone makes possible the fictional constitution of abstract truth. In The Crying of Lot 49, Pynchon uses the ideas of entropy in thermodynamicsand information theory (through Maxwell s Demon) to more fully delve into Oedipa s paradoxical search for meaning in a world that has created, forgotten, and rediscovered it s own truth. Thermodynamics is the study of the relationship between heat and other energies. It deals with the changes within a system if the energy distribution in that system is unbalanced. Thermodynamic entropy is the measure of this chaos in the universe. In beginning of The Crying of Lot 49, Oedipa Maas realizes that she exists within the confinement of [a] tower, (11) that is similar to a closed system. Entropy thrives in closed systems; therefore, if she does not open her system she is doomed to slow degradation, till she is nothing
  • 11. The Road to Bankruptcy of Detroit City Essays The inevitable is no less a shock because it is inevitable ~ Jamaica Kincaid Founded in 1701 by nearly 100 French settlers, Pontchartrain du Detroit was not doomed to bankruptcy. Located near epicenters of trade including the Canadian Border and the Detroit River and rich in resources Detroit, from a geographic sense, was a city established on lands destined to prosper. Turning into an industrial powerhouse in the 20th century, the city saw an enormous boom in both population and industrial prosperity with the growth of the iron stove, railroad car, and ship building industries. It wasn t until auto manufacturing renaissance initiated with the founding of Henry Ford Co. in 1910 that Detroit began it s nearly 100 year long descent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first factor in Detroit s collapse was the undeniable success of the auto industry. The expansion of the big three auto producers, Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors led the charge. In addition to dominating the auto industry, the big three were largely responsible for the success of local business throughout Detroit. Direct suppliers towards the auto companies themselves, and the subsequent services provided to the auto workers and their families composed the majority of Detroit business. The rapid expansion of the auto industry resulted in the industry s decentralization with the city limits of Detroit and caused the expansion of the outlying areas surround Detroit. The decentralization of industry had profound effects on the geography and on the population of the city. The movement of jobs out of the city accelerated the process of suburbanization, as autoworkers who could move followed their jobs. This trend is demonstrated by Census data, showing that following the creating of new auto plants outside the city of Detroit resulted in the total population dropping by nearly 300,0000 citizens by 1960. Following this decentralization, the auto industry suffering from international competition and rising oil prices, was unable to sustain the levels of economic output seen in years prior; and as a result, became a less desirable place to live for both workers looking to relocate and current residents. This table illustrates the

It is impoprtant to understand how to keep your car performing at its best. The major components of a car consist of the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension , and tires. The purpose of this essay is to guide you through the process of changing the oil in your car s engine. An oil change is recommended every 3,000 to 5,000 miles depending on your driving style and conditions. Your car is more likely to need an oil change at 3,000 miles if you live in a metropolitan area where you face stop and go traffic, polluted air, and very hot temperatures. Use the jack stands and put them on both sides of the car. ** This is a very important procedure; in case the jack fails (unlikely but can happen) you have something to hold up the car. 5. Look under the car to find your oil reservoir, use the socket wrench to remove the nut. Before you do this, you should have an oil pan ready to keep the dirty oil. After you unscrew the nut, you should see a stream of motor oil draining out of the oil tank. Allow this process to occur for 5 10 minutes and make sure the oil is going into the oil pan. This is the most annoying part of the entire procedure because sometimes things can get messy. Also look for the oil filter and twist in open. We are going to replace it with a new one in our next step. 6. Check in after 10 minutes, if you don?t see anymore oil dripping out, screw the nut back in tightly and also screw on the new oil filter. Using a little bit of motor oil on the rubber gasket will ensure a tight fit. 7. You are now almost done; make sure you have pulled everything out of the bottom of the car. Now release the jack and let the car slowly come down to the surface. Open the oil cap and pour in the quarts of motor oil into the oil tank. The amount is specified in the owner?s manual. Close the oil cap and proceed to start your car. Shut the car off;

Professionalism within health care includes values to promote the good of every patient in a compassionate, caring and respectful manner. In the article, At the Pharmacy, Chekhov instructs pharmacists as to what they should not do in regards to lack of empathy, attention, and interaction towards the patient, which ultimately leads to the deterioration of the patient s health. In fact, the pharmacist should be concerned about the patient s worries, and create an environment where care, trust, and effective communication is used to address the patient s concerns, as well as ensure the efficient delivery of prescriptions. The pharmaceutical practice has gone beyond the role of medicine dispensary and has acquired a significant role in the field of healthcare itself. Pharmacists are not only experts in medicine but unique among other professionals because of their accessibility as healthcare providers. They are more involved in educating patients on the proper use and consistency of medications, solving different problems and seeking new challenges day to day. INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE OF INTERNATIONAL RECRUITERS37 Literature Review Studies of intercultural competence over the past thirty years attempt to measure the success or growth of an individual s knowledge, skills and attitudes in relation to other cultures (Sinicrope, Norris Watanabe, 2007). Global learning outcomes such as intercultural communication skills, intercultural adaptability, intercultural sensitivity, intercultural maturity, and intercultural competence are skills that universities feel are important to thrive in a diverse society where effective interactions with people from other cultures is necessary (Deardorff, 2011; Fantini, Arias Galicia, Guay, 2001; Trede, Bowles Bridges, 2013; Williams, 2005). Educators need to justify program success by demonstrating annual increases in study abroad participation numbers in addition to providing quality measures related to cultural learning as well (Engle Engle, 2003; Medina LГіpez Portillo, 2004). Students who interact with people from diverse backgrounds will hopefully accept cultural diversity and overcome negative stereotypes (Dong, Day, Collaco, 2008). Scholars often associate cultural competency with the skills and behaviors gained as individuals develop more complex levels of cultural sensitivity (HernГЎndez Kose, 2012, p. 514). Cultural sensitivity is one of the key ingredients needed to understand and engage in relationships with those from others from dissimilar backgrounds (HernГЎndez Kose, 2012). Analysis Of Mohsin Hamid s The Reluctant Fundamentalist Mohsin Hamid s The Reluctant Fundamentalist provides an insight of the September 11th terrorist attacks on America and America s reaction from the view of a man, Changez, who is Pakistani but living in America. His view of America is represented through the character of Erica who embodies both the most positive and the most negative aspects of American pre and post 9/11. Her acceptance of Changez is overwhelming at first, embracing and reveling in his diversity. Yet, after the attacks, she is unable to forget her relationship with her deceased boyfriend, Chris, turning away from those around her into isolation. This overwhelming nostalgia proves to be Erica s demise. This paper will assert that much like Erica, America suffered from its own nostalgia after the events on 9/11. Changing from a time of embraced multiculturalism, America longs to return to a simpler, more Christian time. At times this means isolating itself from the world as it clings to American exceptionalism. Its own isolation and nostalgia proves destructive to its beauty and light. Still, I will further argue that not just America s nostalgia is problematic. The narrator himself clings to the past greatness of Pakistan, one that makes him bitter and resentful about international relations today. Hamid s The Reluctant Fundamentalist explores the ways in which America became nostalgic in the 9/11 aftermath and how this nostalgia became problematic; still, it is hypocritical in accusation as

Women had also been raped in the settlement too. The Canadian soldiers have brought a reign of fear to the Red River settlement. This is an excerpt from the note Louis Rielwas reading. Also, Schultz returned and was basically running things. The comic strip biography then fasts forwards to the summer of 1871. Louis Riel is reading another note now. This one is talking about how the land the people of the settlement had been promised by the Canadian government was being given to people from Eastern Canada. The exceptional rich farmland was being given to the British farmers and the requests for land were being delayed. After this Riel goes to his mother s house in the settlement and finds that many of the soldiers have went home. His mother though, warns him to lay low. The story then shifts and fast forwards to Ottawa in the December of 1871, about five to seven months later. Father Ritchot has arranged a meeting with John Alexander Macdonald to discuss amnesty for Louis Riel s crimes. Father Ritchot immediately confronts John Alexander Macdonald, demanding to know why the amnesty was not granted. John Alexander Macdonald responds by

The quality and variety of the brandhas encouraged the extreme sport goers to continue to shop and spread the word of its reliability. This is important for a lot of the consumers because the Earth is nothing to mess with. They need reliable outerwear to keep them warm if they are climbing Mount Everest or even if they are just skiing down some easy bunny slopes in Colorado. The growth rate of the business alone shows the quality of the brand, but is not the only reason the brand has done so well. The logoplays a huge role in the spread of a business. This event is shown in the movie, but not very convincingly since most of the acting is poor. Perhaps the director wanted to add more action to the beginning since he took away much of the drama and excitement in the ending. The book is better because of more notable characters, more variety of settings, more romantic gestures, and overall, a more interesting storyline. Percy practically reveals to his wife that he is the Scarlet Pimpernel after she tells him that she has betrayed the Scarlet Pimpernel. Marguerite determines that Percy is the pimpernel from a signatory ring in a painting instead of a gold ring in his office. This can be attributed to a movie director s choice. Marguerite is captured in a cabin instead of tackled and held down by a soldier. This could be for the safety of the actress. Sir Percy tricks and captures Chauvelin but since Chauvelin has Marguerite, Percy surrenders in exchange for her freedom. The Scarlet Pimpernel s agents dress as soldiers and save Sir Percy. For Mandelstam, Kremlin refers to a mountain fortress of Stalin, which is one of the most accurate image in the poem. Due to this association, he enhances the overall atmosphere of hopelessness and depression that the Leader created. At some point, the poet associates Stalin/mountaineer with a mythical monster: The ten thick worms his fingers/ His words like measures of weight (Mandelstam 5 6). Consequently, the poet refers to the ambivalent situation that was directly related with the totalitarian regime of Stalin: he was always near and far at the same time. On the one hand, everyone is afraid to say a suspicious word, because the half men control every move. On the other hand, Stalin is in his castle, and no one knows if he ever exists. It allows the poet to create a vivid image of Stalin, who has thick fingers and the huge laughing cockroaches (Mandelstam 7), which transform the real person into something archaic and distant, but still awful. Generally, the poem represents Stalin as a terrible person, who had the criminal past, and, therefore, cannot be a leader of any country. There is one significant image that indicates the past of Stalin: He rolls the executions of his tongue like berries (Mandelstam 15). The image of barriers refers to a
