Cultural Differences Between Diversity And Racial Groups
Many different agencies often accept that diversity relates only to precise ethnic and racial groups.
Nonetheless, there is more than ethnicity and racial groups there are factors that might affect
treatments; for example, a client s gender, age, sexual preference, spiritual beliefs, socioeconomic
status, physical and mental capacities, and geographic location. Counselors need to understand how
those factors can be utilized in a positive motive way with a client during treatment and/or how they
can be barriers to engagement, treatment, and recovery (Center for Substance Abuse Treatment,
2006).
Furthermore, a better difference is made along the terms race, ethnicity, and culture. According to
Wood (2012) defines diversity as 84% different

Lincoln Medical Supply Case Study
Running Head: LINCOLN MEDICAL SUPPLY Case: Lincoln Medical Supply 1.Identify the
sources of internal and external data for all three (3) types of customers. In order to develop
database for each type of customer, Sara can collect internal and external data for all three types
of customers from the inside and outside sources. Retail walk in buyers: As stated in the case,
the main source of data of retail customers is the insurance forms as many of the retail walk in
buyers buy products that are covered in their insurance plan. The data entries regarding the
products purchased through insurance can be use and hard copies of the forms signed by the
retailers can be helpful as well. Similarly, sales ticket invoices of the retailers that bought
equipments can be use to include the details of customers who purchased on cash. Physician s
offices: External data for this type of customers can be obtained from physicians that buy
equipments; this data can be access to find out what type of referrals they give to patients. However,
effort is needed in order to get this information; request should be sent to the physician s staff to
provide statistics on the number of patients, the referrals and expenditures. Along with this, internal
records can also be used to counter check the equipments that were purchase by the physicians.
Hospitals: Hospitals that order the big ticket items can be reviewed through internal company
reports, to find out which products and equipments were

Rap Music Influence
In experiments on over 500 college students, who often work cheaper than guinea pigs and have
less complicated musical tastes, subjects were found to experience a increase in aggressive
thoughts after listening to songs with violent lyrics, (Morrison, 1). Based on this information
people can conclude that since rap lyrics are violent often, it is the main cause for aggressive
thoughts caused from hip hop. Rap music causes lots of violenceevery year and it is only used for
entertainment purposes. Rap has no value for learning anything; it is just a hostile form of
music most times. Rap music can influence teens because it can encourage violent behavior, and
it can make kids start using drugs, also it can influence illegal activities. Hip hop and rap lyrics
have no educational worth, (McWhorter, 1). Rap is going downhill and albums are starting to
sell less. This is because of new rappers and people seeing the truth about rap. As the new music
groups and better music start coming in, it just kicks rap out of the picture. Hip hop will soon
become nothing unless it can be more passive and non aggressive in its lyrics. When people start...

On that day, two of the school s students went on a shooting spree, killing thirteen people and
wounding more than twenty before taking their own lives, (Keeley, 91). This is proof that
children and teens are susceptible to violent lyrics more than adults. Parents need to try their
best to keep violence out of their kid s life. If people work together and be friendlier with their
lyrics, the world would be a better place. Not all raps are bad though, as long as it doesn t have
offensive or violent things in it Rap is a good genre of music. The things that tear rap apart is all
the offense it has in it, otherwise it would sell way more and people wouldn t try getting rid of it

Game Over By John Dicosiglio
Video games or online games are played everyday by a vast majority of teens in the United States.
It is estimated that in 2008 approximately 70 90% of teens reportedly play these games. Many
individuals believe that video games offer a learning experience like no other. However, video
games distract from learning and actually negatively affect the minds of teen players, therefore,
playing video or online games is indisputably harmful to adolescents intellectual and social
development. To begin, many teens have begun ditching their textbooks to get to a controller.
Although many adults believe this is just part of growing up, this actually has a negative outcome
on students performance in school. In GameOver by John DiCosiglio, John stresses

Joe Diffie Research Paper
Joe Diffie entered a crowded field of talented, good looking male country vocalists in early 1990;
despite the competition, the clever lyricist with what People called a booming tenor and wide
open vocal range achieved stardom in a very short time, racking up an unprecedented series of
chart successes. His appeal was due in great part to his ability to cross the boundary separating
traditional country vocal styles from the pop and rock influenced sound that has increasingly come
to dominate Nashvilles musical output. Diffie is also versatile, a quality developed over years of
diligent apprenticeship in several areas of the music business.
Born in Duncan, Oklahoma, in 1958, Diffie had musical ambitions from a tender age. He has an
early memory of his father listening to a record by country music giant George Jones and saying
that nobody else could sing like that. And I thought, I can, Diffie recalled. When I got a little
older, I was one of those guys who knew every dad gum song on the radio and would run people
crazy singing them all, he told Bob Allen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Country Music s Rich Kienzle felt the album took Diffie further into that idiom where he shows
the gutsiness that many younger singers never quite catch. It s New Traditionalism without
compromise, but music that fans of certain more modern sounding singers can enjoy as well.
Attitude sported up tempo numbers worthy of lively line dances, a modern take on hillbilly
boogie of the 1940s and 50s, and sensitive, evocative and totally believable ballads and story
songs. Kienzle praised Diffie s wit and sharp imagery throughout his critique and concluded, Diffie
s found a focus and a strength here .... and if this is the direction he chooses to go in the future, it s
easy to anticipate more albums as good as this

In addition to that, the client gets flexibility in resources and workforce size and logistics fix costs
turn into variable costs.
Disadvantages of using a 3PL:
Loss of control
One particular disadvantage is the loss of control a client has by working with 3PL companies.
Eminently in outbound logistics when the 3PL provider completely assumes the communication
and interacting with a firm s customer or supplier. By having a good and continuous
communication with their clients, most 3PL s counter and try to charm away such doubts. Some
3PL s even paint the clients logos on their assets and vest their employees like the clients ones.
Information Technology (IT)
The IT systems of the provider and the client must operate together. Technology help increase
visibility for the client by way of continuous status updates via Dispatch Management Software and

Radiation Threats Of Astronauts On A Long Journey Through...

Radiation Threats to Astronauts on a Long Journey through Space Astronauts travelling to Mars or
another distant area of interest would face numerous challenges throughout their journey, one of
which is being exposed to radiation from space. There are two types of radiation: ionizing radiation
and non ionizing radiation. [1] Non ionizing radiation is radiation that cannot cause electrons to
become detached from the atom, like visible light and radio waves. [1] This type of radiation is not
dangerous for astronauts and is commonly found on Earth. Ionizing radiation, on the other hand,
has enough energy to remove electrons from their orbits around an atom, causing a charged particle.

[1] This type of radiation would be dangerous for astronauts, and it would need to be shielded
against for long distance space travel to be viable. SPE are the ejection of very energetic
protons, alpha particles and heavier particles into space; these include solar flares and coronal
mass ejections. [1] Under normal conditions, astronauts would not be concerned about this, but
occasionally, very large SPEs occur that can produce radiation with energy levels high enough
to be lethal in a very short period of time. In fact, between Apollo missions 16 and 17, one of the
largest SPEs ever recorded occurred, and it produced radiation with energy levels that would be
lethal to astronauts outside the atmosphere in under 10 hours. [1] The health risks of radiation
exposure can be described as either acute or chronic. Acute exposure is short term and the
severity of symptoms ranges from nausea to central nervous system damage and even to death
in large doses. [2] Chronic exposure is usually less intense radiation but for a longer period of
time, and the health risks include developing cataracts and an increased risk of cancer. [2] This is
the most pressing issue for astronaut safety. Normally, when exposed to the low levels of
radiation we encounter every day, cells are able to mend themselves very quickly. When we are
exposed to high doses, such as astronauts would encounter in space, cells may not be able to repair
themselves and can become mutated

Penicillin Essay
Penicillin was accidentally discovered at St. Mary s Hospital, London in 1929 by Dr. Alexander
Fleming. As test continued, Fleming began to realize that he was on the verge of a great discovery.
However, he still did not know the identity of the fungus, and had little knowledge of fungi. His
crude extractscould be diluted 1,000 times and still be effective in killing bacteria. After years of
working on penicillin and going nowhere, many of his co workers grew tired of hearing about it.
The first real test for penicillin came when a 48 year old police officernicked himself shaving. After
a time, Alexander s face became infected and he developed a temperature. When he was rushed to
the hospital, the doctors believed that he had only hours... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Penicillin brought about the biggest search in medical history. It was reasoned that if there was one
antibiotic in nature, there must be many more, and there were.
If anything should be taken off of the Basic s List, it should be Social Darwinism. Social
Darwinism is simply survival of the fittest. This a simple view, and is not practiced much very
often. Penicillin on the other hand, has saved thousands, if not millions of lives, and started its own
medical revolution to seek for new cures to other things as well.
World War II turning points are much more important than penicillin. If there were not any breaks
for the American troops, then there would have been many more lives lost in the war than needed.
Possibly, there would be more lives lost in the fighting than saved by penicillin in its fist two
decades of public use.
Penicillin has helped save many lives throughout the years. It has cured things like strep throat,
which many people have had in their lives, syphilis, and gonorrhea. It also sparked a new wave of

Immigration Policy Of The United States
Immigration is a timely issue that took my interest, and being an immigrant it was the first topic
that came to my mind for this problem solution research paper. It is imperative that the citizens
must know that there are underlying major problems that are associated with the current
immigration policy of the country. Thus, the United Statesgovernment must address this serious
problem with the majority support of its citizens. By tackling the issue of immigration, it will not
just resolve one problem, but the elemental aspects that go along with it as well. The main objective

This solution will hinder the wrong people from coming to the country, and will discourage those
who have ill intentions of the United States and its citizens. Take into considerations the 9/11
terrorist attack. There were thousands of innocent lives perished owing to the laxity in the laws
concerning immigration. In addition, according to the article Lax Immigration Policies Invite
Terrorism , 2009 by Krikorian, he stated, Our enemies have repeatedly exercised this option of
inserting terrorists by exploiting weaknesses in our immigration system. (Krikorian 2) On the other

testimony he argued that majority of migrants coming to the United States come not for nefarious

is reality for many immigrants in America. Nevertheless, take into perspective when making the
decision that this reasoning can be an avenue for those who wish to destabilize the nation. The

Supernatural And Spiritual Reasoning Regarding The...
Supernatural and spiritual reasoning regarding the physical properties of the universe are often
discredited because they lack sufficient evidence or overlook natural laws. However, many people
still rely on these ideologies as a doctrine governing their lives and world. Alternatively, the world
has shifted towards naturalism a practice which follows the physical properties of the world due to
an advancement in scientific inquiry and technology. Carl Sagan, author of The Demon Haunted
World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, claims that naturalism is the only reasonable framework to
accurately describe physical properties of the world. Sagan s claim is valid due to the self
correcting mechanisms found within naturalism that produce evidence with certainty.
To begin, Sagan constructs his discussion by defining hope, which is a feeling of expectation and
desire for something certain to happen. Science acts as a mechanism to find the truth in avenues
which we seek it. Every scientist hopes that he/she is right, but science is what makes them right.
What makes science right, according to Sagan, is that it has its own built in mechanism to correct
itself (Sagan, 27). Sagan is correct, the scientific method itself is designed to be a replicated
process. That is, if one scientist were to make an observation, form a hypothesis, run an experiment,
record data, and make a conclusion. Then, another scientist could repeat the process and results
could be compared between the two.

The Importance Of Emotions In William Shakespeare s The...
Discovery The process of finding information, feelings, places or objects that have been lost,
forgotten, concealed or hidden away intentionally or unintentionally. Discoveries that are evoked by
curiosity and necessity have the power to alter and ultimately transform individuals. They have the
power to enable speculation towards future possibilities, transform the perceptions of others and
alter a person s decision to change their values. These ideas related to discoveries are examined in
William Shakespeare s, The Tempestand Robert Zemeckis s film, Allied.
The discovery of intense emotions has the power to create urgency for individuals, which result in
sudden and sometimes irrational decisions.
In William Shakespeare s, The Tempest, Shakespeare has perceptively used the discovery of love
for the first time, as the key concept when exploring Miranda s sudden and unexpected discovery of
her emotions towards Ferdinand, which in turn, transform her perspectives of herself and others
around her. Initially, Miranda was a naГЇve, innocent young girl, who had no experience with
loving or sexual emotions, nor had she ever encountered any men in her life, other than her
father: nor have I seen more that I may call men then you . However, through her curious
discovery of Ferdinand, Miranda s intense emotions take over, and create a sudden desire to be
Ferdinand s wife. I am your wife... if you will marry me . The use of high modality language

GONZALES v. CARHART, CHRISTINA GOTTFRIED, February 19, 2015, ISSUE #4
FACTS: in 1973 with the passing of Roe v. Wade, women were guaranteed, under a right to
privacy in which the woman has the right to choose whether or not to get an abortion, however,
this right was not confirmed to be absolute. Nearly 20 years later, in the case of Planned
Parenthood v. Casey, the central holdings of Roe v. Wadewere reaffirmed, by providing limits in
which federal and state governments can regulate abortion. Unfortunately, conflict arose between
Casey and Roe, when trying to ensure the woman still has a right to choose, which lead to
allowing a prohibition of late term abortions, unless the health of the mother was at stake. Next, in
2000, the case of Stenberg v. Carhart forced the court to consider a Nebraska state law that was
passed banning late term abortions and whether the statute was unconstitutional, which it was found
to be, because the statute did not include an exception for the health of the mother and that the
language used was so broad that it burdened a woman s right to choose. Then, in 2007, the case of
Gonzales v. Carhart raised the issue once again on a federal law that had been passed, the Partial
Birth Ban Act of 2003. The lower courts claimed it to be unconstitutional because of the lack of
exception for the health of the mother. This Act however, was found to be constitutional and The
Supreme Court decided to look once again at the precedent, under stare decisis

The Legend Of Robin Hood In Anglo-Saxon Lore
The legend of Robin Hood in Anglo Saxon lore represents the people s hero. The histories and
other few writings focused on the great deeds of high kings, lords and knights; English folk lore
gave little attention to the commoner. That is with the notable exception of the yeoman Robin
Hood. English peasants heard the tale of Robin Hoods charismatic rebellion against strict
hierarchy and rejoiced. Robin was the original rebel, the original adventurer, and the hero all
Englishmen identified with. For this reason, Robin Hood has remained a key figure in the
collective mythos of the English and of their cultural children. To understand the importance of
Robin Hood and his adventures, one must first appreciate the extremely mundane lives of the
typical English peasant farmer. Born into duty and loyalty, calcified feudalism forced the serfs
to work the land on which they were born for little profit and gain for a lifetime. Most were
illiterate, uneducated, and highly provincial. A serf s purpose was to remain loyal to his lord
and to toil obediently farming the land until death. Even the prospect of climbing into nobility
oneself was impossible. God had made serfs into serfs and lords into lords. To rebel against one s
station in life was to rebel against God. In other words, serfs had nothing to strive for in the
socioeconomic order of medieval England. These fettered minds gave birth to a hero that captured
the hopes and dreams that themselves they could never achieve. The

The Expansion of America to the West
As the 19th century continued, America expanded away from the east coast, across the Mississippi
westward. After many western states joined the Union, hundreds of thousands of pioneers migrated
to the new territories, which shifted the majority of the country s population to the West. With so
much uninhabited and unorganized land available, the desire for more land brought aspiring
pioneers to the frontier. As enticing as the idea was, something else was persuading many people to
migrate westward. Manifest Destiny became a widely used concept amongst future pioneers. This
concept stated that God wants you to migrate westward over the entire country to expand and
enhance its political, social, and economic influences. Many middle class citizens held this belief
and was the driving force in Americas expansion. In 1862, Congress passed the Homestead Actand
the Pacific Railway Act that would help aid settlers in their plight across the Plains. These acts used
public lands to achieve significant national ambitions of western migration and the construction of
the transcontinental railroad. In 1862, the Homestead Act was passed into law. The act stated that
any American citizen could file an application and for a small amount purchase 160 acres of
government land. The only stipulation was that you must inhabit the land for the next five years.
The Plains provided ample amount of land for farming and livestock, but settlers found the different
climate would require new

International Adoption Analysis
Differing Viewpoints
The process of International Adoption raises passionate emotions and arguments on different
factors involving the process. Although organizations and groups are present in support of mainly
the proponent side, some are swayed by policies involved. Bethany Christian Services believes in
performing international adoptions as long as they follow the U.S policy involving court s consent
and the foreign countries policy. Whereas UNICEF will only perform international adoptions if the
process is done through the Hague Convention.
One group that clearly represents the common mission of International Adoption is Bethany
Christian Services (BCS). Through their ministries they aid to foreign children in over eighty
locations (www.buildingyourfamily.com, 1998 2016). With their large amount of locations they are
able to reach children and families all over the country, not only physically but emotionally as well.
Bethany Christian Services states, We feel it is our job to provide ministries for orphans and

The Epidemic Of Ebola Virus Ebola
The virus Ebola, or formally known as Ebola haemorrhagic fever, is something most, if not all,
Americans have heard of in these past few months since it has taken American media by storm.
Ebola is a severe, often fatal illness, with an astonishingly high case fatality rate. It is considered
one of the world s most virulent diseases and is transmitted by direct contact with the blood, body
fluids and tissues of infected animals or people ( EbolaVirus Disease ). This, however, is not the
only aspect of Ebola that should be considered. Even though it is often difficult to accept that
humanity has an innate stereotypical attitude and a dormant racism that surfaces in times of
distress (like the Ebola outbreak), it is crucial to recognize that the virus Ebola has not only the
power to evoke physiological harm, but also political and social harm. It is slowly worsening an
already fragile Western society, weakened from previous years of blatant racism and constant fear.
Therefore, the naive American public should care to examine the virus Ebola from a sociological
viewpoint, in addition to a medical one. Western culture has peculiar views on global disease in the
twenty first century, especially since geographical location largely contributes to a global public
health inequality. Consequently, the American media s portrayal of people of color, specifically
Thomas Duncan and President Barack Obama, contributes to and sheds light on the healthcare
disparity in the United States.

Long ago, the leopard and the Ethiopian, his white hunting companion, lived in a place called the
High Veldt. The two dominated this vast grassland, and they were able to hunt and catch any
animal they wished. Their favorite meals consisted of the plain sandy yellow brown coated giraffe
and zebra. One sunny day, the giraffe and zebra were hiding from the leopard and Ethiopian within
the shadows of the trees. Mysteriously, jagged shadow shapes appeared on the fur of the giraffe
and the zebra. The prey became permanently striped and spotted and were so well camouflaged
that the leopard and Ethiopian were now incapable of finding lunch. The two hunters knew they
needed to up their game, so the Ethiopian turned his skin black. The leopard asked his companion
to give him spots so he could blend in, too. The Ethiopian pressed his five fingertips all over the
leopard s plain coat; both of them were now camouflaged just like the giraffe and zebra.
This retelling of Rudyard Kipling s How the Leopard Got His Spots is a fanciful fable which
portrays the cunning nature of the leopard. Besides its stealthiness and competitiveness, this
spotted wonder possesses several other traits which display God s originality in creating it. In order
to understand the significance of the leopard, one must understand its physical characteristics and
behavior, unique habitat and hunting strategies, and extreme threats to its existence.

This essay paper studies the nature of scholarly research in architectural history by reviewing and
analyzing the article AD Classics: Fallingwater House/Frank Lloyd Wright by Adelyn Perez on the
Arch Daily website. This essay also gives further analysis on the architecture of the Fallingwater
House. In her article, Perez begins with detailed facts related to the construction of the building.
She gives the name of the architect, location of the building, engineers, clients as well as year of
the project s completion. The author proceeds with the article by giving a detailed background
story to the building of the house which explains why the house was built. According to Perez, the
Kaufmann family was acquainted with Frank Lloyd Wright through their son who studied at
Wright s School. Through that friendship, the family then approached Wright asking for him to
build a weekend home for them at the Bear Run Nature Reserve s stream. First floor
The site had great sentimental to the family since they had been using it as a retreat for

performance to their highest level according to their role. A Case study we did in class related to
this Topic, A matter of Choice showed the significant importance of selecting and recruiting a
person for a specific job role. HR Practitioners must get the right people in the right job. The right
people solve problems and get things done without burdening management. The wrong people not
only don t solve problems but as well create more problems and distractions. (Stettinius , Wood,

The Lone Ranger And Tonto In Heaven By Sherman Alexie
A collection of twenty two stories narrated by different characters, The Lone Ranger and Tonto
Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie illustrates the lives of modern Native Americans on the
Spokane Indian Reservation and their hardships, which include despair, alcoholism, and poverty.
Tribal members hold high hopes for the young who have extraordinary talent while doubting that
they will achieve success and watching them succumb to alcoholism. These stories, while sad and
gloomy, are told with humor and wit, making the stories bearable to the reader. The grabbing title
came to Alexie in a dream, in which the Lone Rangerand Tonto got in a fight in heaven (McNally,
2001).
Sherman Alexie grew up on the Spokane Indian Reservation. Many of his works, such as
Reservation Blues, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, and Ten Little Indians, are
based on his experiences living on the reservation. According to Alexie, [e]very theme, every
story, every tradgedy that exists in literature takes place in my community (McNally, 2001). The
stories in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fight in Heaven are based on things that he has experiences
or witnessed growing up on the reservation. Thomas Builds the Fire, Victor Joseph, and Junior
Polatkin, who are reoccurring characters in the stories, also appear in Alexie s first novel,
Reservation Blues (McNally, 2001).

State Of Copper Essay
The objective of this experiment was to manipulate the state of copper by taking copper through
four different forms and to observe and understand the method behind each reaction. The
transformations include starting from 0.1588g of Copper(II) Chloride dihydrate to produce
Copper(II) hydroxide. Copper(II) Chloride dihydrate was dissolved in water forming a light blue
colour and Sodium hydroxide was added in order to form Copper(II) hydroxide a dark blue
precipitate. In this reaction Sodium Chloride is soluble and Copper hydroxide is insoluble in
water, therefore, forms precipitate. When the dark blue Copper(II) hydroxide was then, heated it
decomposed to form Copper(II) Oxide, a black solid. Copper(II) oxide, an insoluble metal oxide,
and sulfuric acid reacted to produced Copper(II) sulfate, a soluble salt and blue in colour.

the percentage yield of the solid copper resulted in 117.9%. A majority of sources of error in the

mass was higher than the initial mass. The main reason behind this could have possibly been
due to impurities present in the solid copper which has altered the mass of the final product. A
source of error may have been in the final reaction with zinc, if the solid zinc did not react with
copper(II) sulfate completely and the left over zinc particles in the copper precipitate may have

water being decanted from the beaker, leaving copper with liquid. Heating the copper at the end

Fourth Amendment Loss Of Privacy
The Fourth Amendment provides citizen the freedom of privacy. The expectation of privacy is
covered under the Fourth Amendment in order to protect this privacy. I strongly believe that an
officer should obtain a search warrant in order to violate one s right to privacy when crossing
the boundary of personal items. By searching an individual backpack, purse or wallet, one s
privacy is invaded. According to the court in People v. Cregan personal items such as cigarette
packs (found in pockets), wallets, or purses may be searched due to these items being
inaccessibility of the individual at the time of an arrest. This ruling allows officers to violate one s
privacy by searching these items; even though, the items are personal to the individual.

Essay about Past Political Controversies
Leaders are constantly making decisions that are based on their values and directly affect their
constituents. Some of those decisions are insignificant, and only affect people in the short term.
Some are bigger and determine the long term fate of society; and others go even further as to
determine who those leaders are as people and how they will leave society for future generations
(Joseph, 2001). Socrates raised the question, What is a virtuous man, and what is a virtuous
society? In observing the leadershipthat will ultimately decide the future for our society, I believe
we must ponder the same question. If ethics is the basis of politics, as many people believe to be
true, the two should be tied more closely together. Ethical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is questionable whether we, the voters, actually elect leaders when we vote for our country s
leaders. Presidential campaigns, for example, can have candidates that are either mediocre or
very bland, or candidates that are extremely fake and superficial. It is uncertain whether we know
each candidate s true personality or beliefs when we place our votes on Election Day. These
elected political figures may be seen as leaders in the eyes of their constituents, but that does not
mean that they are true or good leaders. Many natural leaders are successful in convincing their
followers to engage in negative activities or believe harmful ideas. Bill Clinton, for example, was
seen as a natural born leader throughout his schooling career, yet his leadership qualities while
serving as President led him to be very corrupt and cause discourse and scandal. Likewise, many
political figures may appear to be leaders to the public eye, but may not be ethical in their
leadership, therefore being detrimental to their constituents instead of beneficial (Anderson,
2000). Alfred Grazia, a political author, identifies political leaders as, any occupant of an
established political position or as any person, in or out of such a position, whose political activity
has more influence upon a group s behavior than has the activity of the average member. Since
political leaders hold more influence on the behavior of a group, they hold the power to steer them

Ratio Analysis On Market Value
Ratio analysis on Market value The market value of a leased vehicle is normally lower than the
residual value. The residual value of a leased vehicle is adjusted downward towards carrying the
value during the lease end that approximates the estimated end of term market value. During the
quarterly periods, TMCC reviews the estimated end of term market values of a leased vehicle to
assess the aptness of carrying the values. Thus, the factors affecting the estimated end of term
market valueis somewhat similar to the evaluation considered for the residual value.
The contract maturity of the leased vehicle is less than its contractual residual value however;
there is a higher probability for a vehicle to be returned. In addition, the higher the market supply
of certain models of used vehicles cans ultimately lowering a relative level of demand. For
example, the loss of severity during the end of term market value is less than the estimated
residual value that is established during lease inception. Thus, the depreciation expense is recorded
in order to provide a straight line of information to determine the depreciable basis of the leased
vehicle.
Return on Equity (ROE) TMCC equity price risks are related to its investments and equity mutual
funds are included within the investment portfolio. The investments are designed to track the

Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the demographic...
The demographic transition model describes how the population of a country changes over time. It
gives changes in birth rates and death rates, and shows that countries pass through five different
stages of population change (Stage one High fluctuation, Stage two Early expanding, Stage three
Late expanding, Stage four Low fluctuating and Stage five Decline) The demographic transition
model has both strengths and weaknesses for example some strengths would include that the
demographic transition model is a universal concept, therefore being able to be applied to every

Transition model also has its weaknesses some weakness would include the fact that the
demographic transition model does not include the role of the government, some governments may
put antenatal and prenatal operations in place to encourage the decrease or to increase the birth
rate within these countries, therefore countries like China that are antenatal and have the one child
policy put in place and countries like the UK which are prenatal and offer child benefits may show
fluctuation of the birth rate in stages it should be decreasing or increasing in. Further more In
stage four, the UK experienced a post war baby boom where the birth rate should be steadily
decreasing this shows that the demographic transition model does not include the impacts of wars,
natural hazards or migration either. In addition another weakness would be that it is Eurocentric
based and therefore is assuming that all other countries in the world will follow the European
sequence of economic changes

American Identity In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel...
The quintessential struggle for identity inundated the American people after the Revolutionary War;
the country was faced with the struggle of not only establishing a new government but also with the
feat of defining America as a new country. Many literary works and writings were crucial in
facilitating the infant nation s journey in separating from the English culture in order to create this
unique American identity. This process of creating an American identity was not realized with
either ease or haste, and the concept of American identity altered and grew concurrently with the
nation. Literary figures portray different understandings of American identity, each perspective
echoing the national reality at of the epoch or expressing a visionary idea of American identity.
Nathaniel Hawthorneand Washington Irving, both from around the early nineteenth century,
demonstrate the diversity that exists in the concept of the American identity, though this identity is
based in a similar truth. Neither Hawthorne nor Irving are wholly able to separate the concept of
American identity from the country s history and past, as although America is a new county, its
origin lies in its Puritan and English heritage; however, in his story Rip Van Winkle
Irving only
focuses on the muddled reality of a shaky and underdeveloped American identity whereas in The
Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne portrays an unique American identity that has begun to grow from the
past while still being inseparable from

The Art of Benin Essay
Why is the ownership of Benin Art so controversial?
The ownership of Benin Art could have been so controversial for a number of reasons. Most
notably I would say, is due to the Anthropologists seeing it as a cultural insight into the history of
Benin however when people were introduced to start looking at the artefacts from also a more
artistic approach, this, for the anthropologists was taking the cultural effect away from it. Some
people may have felt hostile to how these artefacts were obtained from Benin to start with. We are
informed that they were forcibly removed from their origin by the Westerners and therefore, the
natives, especially, felt that this was and is where they belonged and not in a European Gallery.

The main issue lies in the fact that these are key artefacts for Benin and hold a huge part of the
culture and history, which for obvious reasons, make these Sculptures more than just an art piece
for outsider people to look at. These all hold meaning to the people of Benin and Africa, yet they
have been taken away.
Everybody sees art from a different perspective; it will signify something to one person that won t
necessarily be the same as the next person who observes it. However, the problem here is that to
the Africans, these artefacts have more or less the same meaning and explanation to them all,
symbolising the same things, and cultural events, changes, a description of their history almost.
Which therefore really makes you feel where they belong is back in Africa, their true home with
representing their true meaning. On the other hand, the debate lies in those who believe the
artefacts can be represented in Western countries. Note they do not at any point say they are in the
right place by being in the Western side but they do believe that their presence in national galleries
throughout much of Europe is and will only be a positive thing for the Africans and the Europeans
This view is highlighted by the situation of which we find ourselves in today, for example, very
prejudice, biased and unfounded opinions cause much conflict between races, cultures religions and
countries and this is

Cadbury As A Company Of The Age Of Management
Cadbury
During class we discussed Cadburys approach on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Visser,W., Hollender, J.(2011) describe Cadbury as a prototypical company of the Age of
Management . For a long time, Cadbury derived is motivation to be involved in CSR from its
founder John Cadbury. He as a fellow of the Quakers was convinced that doing business should
aim to solve social issues. His philosophy became part of Cadbury and formed the base for their
applied business ethics. Their engagements impacted the business environment of the company.
The former chief executive Todd Stitzer is cited by Visser,W., Hollender, J.(2011) in 2008
explaining his high personal identification with the company and their corporate spirit I spent 27
years of my life at this company. I absolutely love what it stands for and what it has done . . . the
whole idea that doing good is good for business .
In 2010 Cadbury was sold to the multinational food corporation which merged with Heinz later

an area of the Quaker ideology in the company. Mondelez is a multinational cooperation with a
net revenue of approximately $30 billion in 2015 (Mondelez, 2016). In their fact sheet of 2016 the

Born on the Fourth of July
This book was incredible! In all truth this was the first book I have ever read cover to cover. The
book, by Ron Kovic, as compared to the film, by Oliver Stone, had some impressive similarities.
Both the book and the film did a great job of portraying Ron s childhood in Massapequa, Long
Island. From the little league games to playing war in the woods, leading charges and setting
ambushes. This was especially well done in the movie, and exactly as I pictured them while
reading the book. The time that he spent in Mexico was well defined in the book as well as in the
film. While there were many similarities, what I feel is more important is to focus on the differences.

His parents were also a lot more concerned with him going in the film than they were in the book,
especially his mother. While in the book Kovic makes it extremely clear that the most influential
reason for him joining the Marines was because of the movies he saw as a boy, specifically the
Sands of Iwo Jima and To Hell and Back . He loved the way that Hollywood had glamorized the
battles and the wars. When he thought of war that was what he thought about, John Wayne making
a stand, taking out Japs and Nazi s with quick shots from the hip, all these things. No innocent
people were hurt, the hero always came home and that hero was loved and applauded when he got
there. What Kovic found out was that these ideas were indeed influenced by Hollywood. The hero
seldom comes home, and during these times he was not greeted by screaming fans but by hippies
that protested his involvement.
It also seemed that the film did not do a great job of portraying the deplorable conditions of the
veteran s hospitals. Sure they showed some of the crude parts, but for the amount of the book that
was dedicated to exposing what was going on in the VA hospitals the film did not seem to express it.
From what I can tell Oliver Stone did an incredible job making this movie. There were a few
discrepancies between the book and the film, but on the whole I believe

Emotional Abuse Signs
When you hear the word abuse one might think of a man hitting his wife or girlfriend, a woman
with covered up bruises and physical marks. It is a subject that gets discussed more, something
that is more often shown on popular television shows and movies. But there is another type of
abuse that does not get shown or talked about as much. It is called emotional abuse and just
because it does not show physically in marks or bruises does not make it any less dangerous and
damaging. The first step to addressing this abuse is to understand the signs. You may be
experiencing emotional abuse if your partner calls you names, insults you or puts you down,

Another response why men may not report their abuse is that in one study, it was said that Male
domestic violence victims who come to law enforcement attention are more likely to be future
suspects for domestic violence than female victims (http://www.opdv.ny.gov/, 2016). Another
shocking fact was that subtle psychological abuse is more harmful than either over psychological
abuse or direct aggression (O Leary Mairuo, 2005). It is also suggested that those who are
victims of emotional abuse are more likely to suffer from long term damage to their mental health.
Often times it can take form in depression, post traumatic stress disorder, they may become
suicidal, and can even develop distrust for others (O Leary Mairuo, 2005). Another study also
found that emotional abuse was more common in younger people and is on the rise due to increase
in women being in law enforcement roles, women s empowerment through feminism and while the
rates of men being victims to this abuse is on the rise as previously stated, the rates of women
being emotionally abused are declining, so quite the opposite affect. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov,

uneducated young man who is unjustly convicted and sentenced to death for a murder he did not
commit. Gaines reveals racism as an oppressive force in Jefferson s trial, within the African
American community, and within the town of Bayonne, Louisiana. During Jefferson s trial, his
lawyer cruelly refers him as a mindless hog. As the lawyer addresses the twelve white male
jurors, he tells them that Jefferson has a modicum of intelligence , that he is a thing to handle a
plow, a thing to load your bales of cotton. (7). His attorney also notes to the jurors that, A fool got
into that automobile. A fool rode to the grocery store. A fool stood by and watched this happen, not
having sense to run. (7). His attorney says,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

town. There were two elementary schools uptown, one catholic, one public, for whites; and the
same back of town for colored. (25). Also Grant noted that, After entering the town, which was

Nonetheless, there is more than ethnicity and racial groups there are factors that might affect treatments; for example, a client s gender, age, sexual preference, spiritual beliefs, socioeconomic status, physical and mental capacities, and geographic location. Counselors need to understand how those factors can be utilized in a positive motive way with a client during treatment and/or how they can be barriers to engagement, treatment, and recovery (Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, 2006). • 4. Rap Music Influence In experiments on over 500 college students, who often work cheaper than guinea pigs and have less complicated musical tastes, subjects were found to experience a increase in aggressive thoughts after listening to songs with violent lyrics, (Morrison, 1). Based on this information people can conclude that since rap lyrics are violent often, it is the main cause for aggressive thoughts caused from hip hop. Rap music causes lots of violenceevery year and it is only used for entertainment purposes. Rap has no value for learning anything; it is just a hostile form of music most times. Rap music can influence teens because it can encourage violent behavior, and it can make kids start using drugs, also it can influence illegal activities. Hip hop and rap lyrics have no educational worth, (McWhorter, 1). Rap is going downhill and albums are starting to sell less. This is because of new rappers and people seeing the truth about rap. As the new music groups and better music start coming in, it just kicks rap out of the picture. Hip hop will soon become nothing unless it can be more passive and non aggressive in its lyrics. When people start... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On that day, two of the school s students went on a shooting spree, killing thirteen people and wounding more than twenty before taking their own lives, (Keeley, 91). This is proof that children and teens are susceptible to violent lyrics more than adults. Parents need to try their best to keep violence out of their kid s life. If people work together and be friendlier with their lyrics, the world would be a better place. Not all raps are bad though, as long as it doesn t have offensive or violent things in it Rap is a good genre of music. It is estimated that in 2008 approximately 70 90% of teens reportedly play these games. Many individuals believe that video games offer a learning experience like no other. • 7. Joe Diffie Research Paper Joe Diffie entered a crowded field of talented, good looking male country vocalists in early 1990; despite the competition, the clever lyricist with what People called a booming tenor and wide open vocal range achieved stardom in a very short time, racking up an unprecedented series of chart successes. His appeal was due in great part to his ability to cross the boundary separating traditional country vocal styles from the pop and rock influenced sound that has increasingly come to dominate Nashvilles musical output. Diffie is also versatile, a quality developed over years of diligent apprenticeship in several areas of the music business. Born in Duncan, Oklahoma, in 1958, Diffie had musical ambitions from a tender age. He has an early memory of his father listening to a record by country music giant George Jones and saying that nobody else could sing like that. And I thought, I can, Diffie recalled. When I got a little older, I was one of those guys who knew every dad gum song on the radio and would run people crazy singing them all, he told Bob Allen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kienzle praised Diffie s wit and sharp imagery throughout his critique and concluded, Diffie s found a focus and a strength here .... and if this is the direction he chooses to go in the future, it s easy to anticipate more albums as good as this ... • 9. Radiation Threats Of Astronauts On A Long Journey Through... Samantha Stickles ESS102 Section AD Due: 10/23/15 Radiation Threats to Astronauts on a Long Journey through Space Astronauts travelling to Mars or another distant area of interest would face numerous challenges throughout their journey, one of which is being exposed to radiation from space. There are two types of radiation: ionizing radiation and non ionizing radiation. [1] Non ionizing radiation is radiation that cannot cause electrons to become detached from the atom, like visible light and radio waves. [1] This type of radiation is not dangerous for astronauts and is commonly found on Earth. Ionizing radiation, on the other hand, has enough energy to remove electrons from their orbits around an atom, causing a charged particle. [1] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [1] This type of radiation would be dangerous for astronauts, and it would need to be shielded against for long distance space travel to be viable. SPE are the ejection of very energetic protons, alpha particles and heavier particles into space; these include solar flares and coronal mass ejections. [1] Under normal conditions, astronauts would not be concerned about this, but occasionally, very large SPEs occur that can produce radiation with energy levels high enough to be lethal in a very short period of time. In fact, between Apollo missions 16 and 17, one of the largest SPEs ever recorded occurred, and it produced radiation with energy levels that would be lethal to astronauts outside the atmosphere in under 10 hours. [1] The health risks of radiation exposure can be described as either acute or chronic. Acute exposure is short term and the severity of symptoms ranges from nausea to central nervous system damage and even to death in large doses. [2] Chronic exposure is usually less intense radiation but for a longer period of time, and the health risks include developing cataracts and an increased risk of cancer. [2] This is the most pressing issue for astronaut safety. Normally, when exposed to the low levels of radiation we encounter every day, cells are able to mend themselves very quickly. When we are exposed to high doses, such as astronauts would encounter in space, cells may not be able to repair themselves and can become mutated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As test continued, Fleming began to realize that he was on the verge of a great discovery. However, he still did not know the identity of the fungus, and had little knowledge of fungi. His crude extractscould be diluted 1,000 times and still be effective in killing bacteria. After years of working on penicillin and going nowhere, many of his co workers grew tired of hearing about it. World War II turning points are much more important than penicillin. If there were not any breaks for the American troops, then there would have been many more lives lost in the war than needed. • 12. Supernatural And Spiritual Reasoning Regarding The... Supernatural and spiritual reasoning regarding the physical properties of the universe are often discredited because they lack sufficient evidence or overlook natural laws. However, many people still rely on these ideologies as a doctrine governing their lives and world. Alternatively, the world has shifted towards naturalism a practice which follows the physical properties of the world due to an advancement in scientific inquiry and technology. Carl Sagan, author of The Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, claims that naturalism is the only reasonable framework to accurately describe physical properties of the world. Sagan s claim is valid due to the self correcting mechanisms found within naturalism that produce evidence with certainty. To begin, Sagan constructs his discussion by defining hope, which is a feeling of expectation and desire for something certain to happen. Science acts as a mechanism to find the truth in avenues which we seek it. Every scientist hopes that he/she is right, but science is what makes them right. What makes science right, according to Sagan, is that it has its own built in mechanism to correct itself (Sagan, 27). Sagan is correct, the scientific method itself is designed to be a replicated process. That is, if one scientist were to make an observation, form a hypothesis, run an experiment, record data, and make a conclusion. Then, another scientist could repeat the process and results could be compared between the two. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Discovery The process of finding information, feelings, places or objects that have been lost, forgotten, concealed or hidden away intentionally or unintentionally. Discoveries that are evoked by curiosity and necessity have the power to alter and ultimately transform individuals. These ideas related to discoveries are examined in William Shakespeare s, The Tempestand Robert Zemeckis s film, Allied. The discovery of intense emotions has the power to create urgency for individuals, which result in sudden and sometimes irrational decisions. In William Shakespeare s, The Tempest, Shakespeare has perceptively used the discovery of love for the first time, as the key concept when exploring Miranda s sudden and unexpected discovery of her emotions towards Ferdinand, which in turn, transform her perspectives of herself and others around her. • 17. Gonzales V. Jr. GONZALES v. CARHART, CHRISTINA GOTTFRIED, February 19, 2015, ISSUE #4 FACTS: in 1973 with the passing of Roe v. Wade, women were guaranteed, under a right to privacy in which the woman has the right to choose whether or not to get an abortion, however, this right was not confirmed to be absolute. Nearly 20 years later, in the case of Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the central holdings of Roe v. Wadewere reaffirmed, by providing limits in which federal and state governments can regulate abortion. Unfortunately, conflict arose between Casey and Roe, when trying to ensure the woman still has a right to choose, which lead to allowing a prohibition of late term abortions, unless the health of the mother was at stake. Next, in 2000, the case of Stenberg v. Carhart forced the court to consider a Nebraska state law that was passed banning late term abortions and whether the statute was unconstitutional, which it was found to be, because the statute did not include an exception for the health of the mother and that the language used was so broad that it burdened a woman s right to choose. Then, in 2007, the case of Gonzales v. Carhart raised the issue once again on a federal law that had been passed, the Partial Birth Ban Act of 2003. The lower courts claimed it to be unconstitutional because of the lack of exception for the health of the mother. This Act however, was found to be constitutional and The Supreme Court decided to look once again at the precedent, under stare decisis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Legend Of Robin Hood In Anglo-Saxon Lore The legend of Robin Hood in Anglo Saxon lore represents the people s hero. The histories and other few writings focused on the great deeds of high kings, lords and knights; English folk lore gave little attention to the commoner. That is with the notable exception of the yeoman Robin Hood. English peasants heard the tale of Robin Hoods charismatic rebellion against strict hierarchy and rejoiced. Robin was the original rebel, the original adventurer, and the hero all Englishmen identified with. For this reason, Robin Hood has remained a key figure in the collective mythos of the English and of their cultural children. To understand the importance of Robin Hood and his adventures, one must first appreciate the extremely mundane lives of the typical English peasant farmer. Born into duty and loyalty, calcified feudalism forced the serfs to work the land on which they were born for little profit and gain for a lifetime. Most were illiterate, uneducated, and highly provincial. A serf s purpose was to remain loyal to his lord and to toil obediently farming the land until death. Even the prospect of climbing into nobility oneself was impossible. God had made serfs into serfs and lords into lords. To rebel against one s station in life was to rebel against God. In other words, serfs had nothing to strive for in the socioeconomic order of medieval England. These fettered minds gave birth to a hero that captured the hopes and dreams that themselves they could never achieve. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With so much uninhabited and unorganized land available, the desire for more land brought aspiring pioneers to the frontier. As enticing as the idea was, something else was persuading many people to migrate westward. Manifest Destiny became a widely used concept amongst future pioneers. This concept stated that God wants you to migrate westward over the entire country to expand and enhance its political, social, and economic influences. Many middle class citizens held this belief and was the driving force in Americas expansion. In 1862, Congress passed the Homestead Actand the Pacific Railway Act that would help aid settlers in their plight across the Plains. These acts used public lands to achieve significant national ambitions of western migration and the construction of the transcontinental railroad. In 1862, the Homestead Act was passed into law. • 21. The Epidemic Of Ebola Virus Ebola The virus Ebola, or formally known as Ebola haemorrhagic fever, is something most, if not all, Americans have heard of in these past few months since it has taken American media by storm. Ebola is a severe, often fatal illness, with an astonishingly high case fatality rate. It is considered one of the world s most virulent diseases and is transmitted by direct contact with the blood, body fluids and tissues of infected animals or people ( EbolaVirus Disease ). This, however, is not the only aspect of Ebola that should be considered. Even though it is often difficult to accept that humanity has an innate stereotypical attitude and a dormant racism that surfaces in times of distress (like the Ebola outbreak), it is crucial to recognize that the virus Ebola has not only the power to evoke physiological harm, but also political and social harm. It is slowly worsening an already fragile Western society, weakened from previous years of blatant racism and constant fear. Therefore, the naive American public should care to examine the virus Ebola from a sociological viewpoint, in addition to a medical one. Western culture has peculiar views on global disease in the twenty first century, especially since geographical location largely contributes to a global public health inequality. Consequently, the American media s portrayal of people of color, specifically Thomas Duncan and President Barack Obama, contributes to and sheds light on the healthcare disparity in the United States. ... One sunny day, the giraffe and zebra were hiding from the leopard and Ethiopian within the shadows of the trees. Mysteriously, jagged shadow shapes appeared on the fur of the giraffe and the zebra. It is questionable whether we, the voters, actually elect leaders when we vote for our country s leaders. Presidential campaigns, for example, can have candidates that are either mediocre or very bland, or candidates that are extremely fake and superficial. It is uncertain whether we know each candidate s true personality or beliefs when we place our votes on Election Day. These elected political figures may be seen as leaders in the eyes of their constituents, but that does not mean that they are true or good leaders. Many natural leaders are successful in convincing their followers to engage in negative activities or believe harmful ideas. Bill Clinton, for example, was seen as a natural born leader throughout his schooling career, yet his leadership qualities while serving as President led him to be very corrupt and cause discourse and scandal. Likewise, many political figures may appear to be leaders to the public eye, but may not be ethical in their leadership, therefore being detrimental to their constituents instead of beneficial (Anderson, 2000). Alfred Grazia, a political author, identifies political leaders as, any occupant of an established political position or as any person, in or out of such a position, whose political activity has more influence upon a group s behavior than has the activity of the average member. Since political leaders hold more influence on the behavior of a group, they hold the power to steer them in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Ratio Analysis On Market Value Ratio analysis on Market value The market value of a leased vehicle is normally lower than the residual value. The residual value of a leased vehicle is adjusted downward towards carrying the value during the lease end that approximates the estimated end of term market value. During the quarterly periods, TMCC reviews the estimated end of term market values of a leased vehicle to assess the aptness of carrying the values. Thus, the factors affecting the estimated end of term market valueis somewhat similar to the evaluation considered for the residual value. The contract maturity of the leased vehicle is less than its contractual residual value however; there is a higher probability for a vehicle to be returned. In addition, the higher the market supply of certain models of used vehicles cans ultimately lowering a relative level of demand. For example, the loss of severity during the end of term market value is less than the estimated residual value that is established during lease inception. Thus, the depreciation expense is recorded in order to provide a straight line of information to determine the depreciable basis of the leased vehicle. Return on Equity (ROE) TMCC equity price risks are related to its investments and equity mutual funds are included within the investment portfolio. I travelled across the Spanish province of La Mancha with my loyal squire, Sancho Panza, in search of adventures, beautiful ladies, and princesses to whom I can offer my knightly services. I was a bold and valiant knight. My greatest and most memorable adventure, perhaps, is my encounter with the giants of the plains of La Mancha who had thousand of arms. The battle which ensued was so glorious that whoever hears of it strangely accuses me of being a madman. However, after my forced retirement from being a knight errant, I fell ill and during my last hour I realized that all my adventures were indeed hallucinations and my greatest adventure was simply a comical duel between I and windmills. It gives changes in birth rates and death rates, and shows that countries pass through five different stages of population change (Stage one High fluctuation, Stage two Early expanding, Stage three Late expanding, Stage four Low fluctuating and Stage five Decline) The demographic transition model has both strengths and weaknesses for example some strengths would include that the demographic transition model is a universal concept, therefore being able to be applied to every country in the world, Another strength would be that the model shows a change over time and can be seen as a predictor, with the expectation that every country... Further more In stage four, the UK experienced a post war baby boom where the birth rate should be steadily decreasing this shows that the demographic transition model does not include the impacts of wars, natural hazards or migration either. • 34. American Identity In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel... The quintessential struggle for identity inundated the American people after the Revolutionary War; the country was faced with the struggle of not only establishing a new government but also with the feat of defining America as a new country. Many literary works and writings were crucial in facilitating the infant nation s journey in separating from the English culture in order to create this unique American identity. This process of creating an American identity was not realized with either ease or haste, and the concept of American identity altered and grew concurrently with the nation. Literary figures portray different understandings of American identity, each perspective echoing the national reality at of the epoch or expressing a visionary idea of American identity. Nathaniel Hawthorneand Washington Irving, both from around the early nineteenth century, demonstrate the diversity that exists in the concept of the American identity, though this identity is based in a similar truth. Neither Hawthorne nor Irving are wholly able to separate the concept of American identity from the country s history and past, as although America is a new county, its origin lies in its Puritan and English heritage; however, in his story Rip Van Winkle Irving only focuses on the muddled reality of a shaky and underdeveloped American identity whereas in The Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne portrays an unique American identity that has begun to grow from the past while still being inseparable from ... • 37. The Art of Benin Essay Why is the ownership of Benin Art so controversial? The ownership of Benin Art could have been so controversial for a number of reasons. Most notably I would say, is due to the Anthropologists seeing it as a cultural insight into the history of Benin however when people were introduced to start looking at the artefacts from also a more artistic approach, this, for the anthropologists was taking the cultural effect away from it. Some people may have felt hostile to how these artefacts were obtained from Benin to start with. We are informed that they were forcibly removed from their origin by the Westerners and therefore, the natives, especially, felt that this was and is where they belonged and not in a European Gallery. Some see it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main issue lies in the fact that these are key artefacts for Benin and hold a huge part of the culture and history, which for obvious reasons, make these Sculptures more than just an art piece for outsider people to look at. These all hold meaning to the people of Benin and Africa, yet they have been taken away. Everybody sees art from a different perspective; it will signify something to one person that won t necessarily be the same as the next person who observes it. However, the problem here is that to the Africans, these artefacts have more or less the same meaning and explanation to them all, symbolising the same things, and cultural events, changes, a description of their history almost. Which therefore really makes you feel where they belong is back in Africa, their true home with representing their true meaning. On the other hand, the debate lies in those who believe the artefacts can be represented in Western countries. Note they do not at any point say they are in the right place by being in the Western side but they do believe that their presence in national galleries throughout much of Europe is and will only be a positive thing for the Africans and the Europeans This view is highlighted by the situation of which we find ourselves in today, for example, very prejudice, biased and unfounded opinions cause much conflict between races, cultures religions and countries and this is ... The book, by Ron Kovic, as compared to the film, by Oliver Stone, had some impressive similarities. Both the book and the film did a great job of portraying Ron s childhood in Massapequa, Long Island. From the little league games to playing war in the woods, leading charges and setting ambushes. This was especially well done in the movie, and exactly as I pictured them while reading the book. The time that he spent in Mexico was well defined in the book as well as in the film. His parents were also a lot more concerned with him going in the film than they were in the book, especially his mother. While in the book Kovic makes it extremely clear that the most influential reason for him joining the Marines was because of the movies he saw as a boy, specifically the Sands of Iwo Jima and To Hell and Back . He loved the way that Hollywood had glamorized the battles and the wars. When he thought of war that was what he thought about, John Wayne making a stand, taking out Japs and Nazi s with quick shots from the hip, all these things. No innocent people were hurt, the hero always came home and that hero was loved and applauded when he got there. What Kovic found out was that these ideas were indeed influenced by Hollywood. The hero seldom comes home, and during these times he was not greeted by screaming fans but by hippies that protested his involvement. It also seemed that the film did not do a great job of portraying the deplorable conditions of the veteran s hospitals. Sure they showed some of the crude parts, but for the amount of the book that was dedicated to exposing what was going on in the VA hospitals the film did not seem to express it. From what I can tell Oliver Stone did an incredible job making this movie. There were a few discrepancies between the book and the film, but on the whole I believe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a subject that gets discussed more, something that is more often shown on popular television shows and movies. But there is another type of abuse that does not get shown or talked about as much. It is called emotional abuse and just because it does not show physically in marks or bruises does not make it any less dangerous and damaging. Another shocking fact was that subtle psychological abuse is more harmful than either over psychological abuse or direct aggression (O Leary Mairuo, 2005). It is also suggested that those who are victims of emotional abuse are more likely to suffer from long term damage to their mental health. Often times it can take form in depression, post traumatic stress disorder, they may become suicidal, and can even develop distrust for others (O Leary Mairuo, 2005).
