Toys R Us Case Study Conclusion
Chapter 5: Summary, Recommendations, and Conclusions
Summary
This paper researched the fact that the Toys R Us Company was displaying a
weakness in financial related issues due to the lack of proper strategic planning. This
made the company susceptible to many threats in the industry s competitive
environment. The research has shown that its main competitors Walmart, Target, and
Amazon are functioning successfully in the industry while Toys R Us heads for
bankruptcy. This research emphasizes the fact that Toys R Us has not taken steps to
strategize its operations properly which resulted in a loss of revenue and
opportunities in their environment. If the company does not take steps to better its
strategic planning, the company will not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. Brandon, CEO of Toys R Us, Inc. stated There is simply no reason to go
somewhere else our focus is kids and families every day of the year unlike some of
our competitors who only play (pun intended) a few weeks a year Toys R Us

advantage recently is by introducing Play Labs nationwide. Play Labs are a free
reality application which includes AR games and play experiences that children
can play on their smartphone or tablet devices while they are in the stores
shopping. Toys R Us is now more than just a place to shop, they have created
experiences which bring their stores to life with their interactive games that the kids
highly enjoy playing (Toys R Us Inc, 2017). There are different ways how Toys R
Us can reach profitability by obtaining customers year round. The company should
appeal to its established historic customer base that will respond to its stores because
of their loyalty to the company. The company can do this by opening new product
lines. They can focus on obtaining products that are high in demand by their
competitors. They can use their already established company popularity to obtain
strong supplier relationships for the additional products. These will supply the
company with an additional source of income and the
Tequila Crisis Research Paper
The cause of Tequila Crises was a catalogue of several issues that build up to a
crescendo level and generated into an explosive situation, that resulted in the
collapse of the financial institutions and subsequently led to civil disobedience.
There were in my opinion two causes; the remote and the immediate cause. In the
remote cause; the government embarked on reforms and deregulation of the
economy in the 1980s on a scale that was seen as too quick and too fast and sudden.
Among some of the reforms, the then President Miguel de la Madrid(1982 1988)
took a bold decision to liberalize Trade and International Capital flow which he had
thought would bolster trade relationship between Mexicoand the developed countries..
Furtherance to that, the government moved to reduce import tariffs on items
imported from Uruguay, a neighbor country to cement trade relationship between
Mexico and Uruguay under the auspices of General Agreement on Tariff and Trade
(GATT)...Then came the predecessor of President Miguel; President Carlos Selinas
de Gotari (1988 1994) went further to sign foreign trade agreement with United States
called North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and later liberalized the
financial system, privatizing the largest commercial banks and deregulating the
banking system.; Obstfeld and Taylor (2004).... Show more content on

severe recession in Mexico, and therefore ushered in the Tequila
Ordinary Resurrections, By Jonathan Kozol
The novel Ordinary Resurrections, written by Jonathan Kozol, focuses on an area
in south New York called the Bronx, which is a poor community composed of
mainly African American and Hispanic people. The author, Jonathan Kozol,
focuses the novel specifically on the children who live in a section of the South
Bronx called Mott Haven, which is America s epicenter for the plague of pediatric
and maternal AIDS (Kozol 3) and is one of the centers of an epidemic of adult and
pediatric asthma. (Kozol 3). The people of Mott Haven do not have sufficient
access to healthcare, live in extreme poverty, and are malnourished. However,
Kozol does see some good things in Mott Haven such as the teachers at the public
elementary school. Kozol is impressed with these teachers because they strive every
day to provide education and aid to the kids of the Bronx. He believes that the
education of a person early in their life has a major impact on who they turn out to be.

to help poor communities with underfunded education programs. Also,

education such as tutoring or private schooling. Kozol wants each and every child to
receive equal public educational opportunities regardless of economical status.
Without equal educational opportunities the children of Mott Haven will not have a

Who Is Louis Riel National Hero
Louis Riel was a national hero, especially to the MГ©tis of Canada. He defended his
people, the MГ©tis, and their rights by creating Le ComitГ© National des MГ©tis
and the provisional government at Fort Garry. He showed the Canadian government
that he is not a joke with the execution of Thomas Scott. He contributed to the
creation and government placed in Manitobawith the Manitoba Act. And he also left,
coming back with a new view and to attempt a peaceful negotiation.
Louis Riel went against the Prime Minister, John A. MacDonald, to get the MГ©tis
people the rights they deserved. He seized Fort Garry with the National Committee
of MГ©tis as their leader. He did this to set an example and show MacDonald just
what he is capable of. Riel set up a provisional government to replace the committee
with himself as the leader, after refusing to take money to join the USA. This is
where the MГ©tis wrote their List of Rights. Which were brought to MacDonald but
promptly ignored. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them escaped, so Riel sent more men to retrieve them. He had to make
sure his people were happy and not think of the casualties. Schultz escaped, but
they did capture one Thomas Scott. Scott insulted and attacked the guards while
jailed and threatened to escape and kill Riel many times. The people eventually
were tired and scared of him so they consulted Riel. He decided to try him with the
MГ©tis military council, used for the buffalo hunt. They tried him guilty for
insubordination. He was shot by a MГ©tis firing squad; this caused an uprising of
mixed opinions in Ontario and Quebec. This put MacDonald in a very difficult place,
giving Riel some satisfaction that he had put his opposition off his
Insanity In One Flew Over The Cuckoo s
The nineteenth century may have inspired transformation of society, but there was no
radical improvement in the relationship between the male psychiatrist and the female
patient. A new generation of doctors, even more moralistic, domineering and
masculinist in their approach than their predecessors, employed scientific methods of
research inspired by Darwinian theories, which gave full weight of scientific
confirmation to the narrow Victorian ideals of femininity
(Showalter 122). The intellectual inferiority of women was confirmed as a result of
reproductive specialization (Showalter 122).

It is partly due to the changes in the psychiatric methods. Further into the twentieth
century, institutions for mentally ill began to suffer from the lack of credibility and
bad reputation of unnecessary cruel treatments administered not only on women,
which were supported with popular literature such as One Flew over the Cuckoo s
Nest. Furthermore, increasingly popular belief in the curability of mental illnesses
with the employment of drugs all culminated in the beginning of de
institutionalisation of psychiatry.
Considering the position of women in society, Atwood s nameless Narrator has
already achieved what
Esther Greenwood could only hope for she has both a career and the freedom to
indulge in sexual relationships without the restrictions of marriage. Yet, even though
she can enjoy considerably more freedom than her predecessors due to the spreading
opposition towards the male supremacy, she still feels powerless and sees herself as
a victim of the patriarchal society.
The forced abortion is one of the triggers of her madness. Traumatized by this
experience when she felt completely powerless and out of control, the Narrator has

Melanin
Melanin is a pigment that determines the colour of the skin, eyes and hair, playing a
role in camouflage, heat regulation and cosmetic variation. It also plays a critical role
in photoprotection due to its ability to absorb harmful ultraviolet radiation (UVR). As
the skin is the largest organ of the body, it is constantly influenced by external and
internal factors thus, melanin is an important defence system that protects the skin
against harmful factors (Costin Hearing, 2007). The process by which melanin is
produced and distributed by the epidermal units of the skin is called melanogenesis
(Videira, Moura, Magina, 2013). Extrinsic factors, such as UVR and certain chemical
compounds, and intrinsic factors, such as secretions by keratinocytes or fibroblasts,
can have an influence on melanogenesis. Predetermined genetic factors, such... Show

Mature melanocytes have long projections that are in contact with 30 40
neighbouring keratinocytes thus making up the epidermal melanin unit (Tsatmali,
Ancans, Thody, 2002). In order for melanin to play its role in photoprotection, the
mature melanosomes are transported into the cytoplasm of the keratinocytes via the
melanocyte s long projections. Inside the keratinocytes, melanosomes form a cap
around the nucleus. The melanin inside the melanosomes absorbs the UVR emitted
from the sun thus reducing the amount of UVR reaching the nucleus (Tsatmali et al.,
2002; Videira et al., 2013). This process of photoprotection is illustrated in Figure 1.
This photoprotection is necessary as UVR can damage DNA causing mutations
leading to cancer (Videira et al., 2013). In addition, melanosomes are not only found
in the skin but can also be found in several other tissues such as the central nervous
system, cardiovascular system, the uvea of the eye, cochlea and adipose tissues (D

History, millions of people worldwide have gathered to support each other by
gathering and protesting for what they believe is right. Social movements such as
The Abolition Movement, The American Revolution, Women s Rights Movement,

The Roma And Its Impact On Today s Society
The Roma people also known throughout history as gypsies or travelers , have had a
tremendous impact on today s society. Today, there are approximately 12 million to
15 million Romani people throughout the world. The Roma s history is very complex;
they have experienced throughout history exclusion, discrimination, and persecution.
The majority of the Romani peoplein today s society live in Western Europe, the
Americas, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. The social and political organization of
this group has a traditional, complex way of life. In their traditional economic
culture, the Roma all have very similar occupations that consist mostly in the fields
of entertainment, crafts, and trading. Religious practices vary with the Roma. All
these component s tie into the way the Roma people live which in some ways is very
similar to ours.
The Roma history is vast and complex; the Romani people have been on this world
for over a thousand of years. In those years, they received discrimination,
persecution, and exclusion. Through most of their history, the Roma were typically
classified in a social hierarchy as the untouchables or the undesirables . It has been
said that the Romani people originated in India. As early as the fifteenth century,
was the exodus of the Romani people of India. It is claimed that they moved out of
India due to war and military invasion of India. I understand and sympathize the
reason to move because the Romani people were at the bottom of the
Essay on Analysis of Beneath My House
Paper 5 Analysis of Beneath My House Beneath My House by Louise Erdrich, is a
literary essay with an expressive approach. Erdrich narrates the day she rescues a
kitten from beneath her house, despite the fact that she does not even like cats. Her
maternal instincts take over when she hears the kitten cry, which causes her to do
whatever it takes to rescue the kitten. Then, the author analyzes the event and she
expresses her emotional response. Through the use of description and narration,
Erdrich allows for the audience to imagine the rescue of the kitten beneath her house.
The overall theme is the act of being born. The literary purpose is apparent
throughout. Erdrich uses every opportunity to entertain her audience with the... Show

She presents this irony in a humorous way, which allows comic relief in the middle
of a dangers situation. It is evident that this literary work has an expressive
approach. The author shares a personal experience of rescuing a kitten from
beneath her house. In her reflection, she reveals what the basement symbolizes to
her, which is both comfort and death: comfort, because she finally rescues this tiny
creature ; death, because she is in need of a rescue herself. No one else is aware
that she is beneath the house, and she is so far beneath, in a small space; she feels
as if she may be stuck and die there. She compares her feelings to what she thinks a
fetus may feel right before delivery, and states that, what the body remembers of
birth it anticipates as death. Erdrich expresses her emotional reactions throughout,
and she carefully selects words that cause an aesthetic effect. She says the kitten has
a piteous cry that she can hardly stand to hear. Then, she gets so close to the kitten
and brushes its fur, but the kitten scrambles away, and she feels a slight warmth come
over her, which is a mad calm. This mad calm pushes her to complete this rescue
mission. She continues to try and catch the kitten, and she continues to fail. Her
desperation is apparent, but she prevails and takes a deep breath, and remains patient,
and finally she catches the kitten. Erdrich uses description and first person narration

History of the American Mafia Essay
History of the American Mafia
Imagine living in a world where crime ruled. A world where gangsters were more
powerful than politicians, owned the police, and ran the city in whatever way they
felt. They robbed whom they wanted and killed when they didn t get their way. Now
stop imagining and realize that this happened here in the United States of America in
the 1920 s. It was run by an organization made up mainly of Italians called the Mafia.
The word Mafia itself has many meanings. In Arabic it means refuge , which refers
to the origins of the Mafia as a society that fled to the hills of Italy to avoid attack.
Some Italians hold it as a word of high respect implying strength, courage, agility,

This code states that all family based activities are above all domestic family
matters in the home, it enforces silence, a strike upon another member is like a
strike on the boss himself. Violating any of these laws is punishable by death with no
trial or remorse (Whizkid01 3). This one value is what kept Mafia families powerful
and prosperous. As the Mafia grew in America, they prospered off illegal gambling
and prostitution. It wasn t until 1919 with the ratification of the 18th Amendment to
the Constitution that the Mafia really gained power. The 18th amendment banned the
distribution and manufacturing of alcoholic beverages in America (Prohibition 2).
Although this amendment meant nothing but good, it did the exact opposite to
America. While politicians saw an improved nation with this amendment, criminals
saw green. Americans now thought drinking as a thrill, it was something illegal
that they can do but get away with. It was the rush of getting away with it that
made speakeasies so popular. Speakeasies were Mafia run entertainment clubs,
consisting of an open bar of the finest bootlegged liquor along with dining and
entertainment (Prohibition 5). One of the most successful Mafia bosses involved in
bootlegging and prostitution was Charles Lucky Luciano. He was born in 1897 in
Sicily, Italy. At the age of 9 he moved to the Lower East Side of New York. In 1920
he began his own prostitution
The Double Helix By James D. Watson
What is the double helix? The double helix was a starling breakthrough. The
double helix experiment and idea led to the discovery of the structure of DNA, all
thanks to five very important people in history. A double helix is a double parallel
spiral. This lively discovery was enormous and was the most influential and
successful biological fining since Charles Darwin. The discovery and foundation of
the double helix structure of DNA, a hereditary molecular structure, sparked science,
scientific research, and the advancement of opportunities. Although this took a lot of
effort and time, this breakthrough discovery has changed the subjects of science,
chemistry, biology, anatomy, and physics completely around. Although this discovery
has prompted science in our world today, little do we know a young man tried to

and yet, factual. I learned a lot from it and really changed my thoughts and knowledge

not just a Crick and Watson that discovery this structure, it was more than these two
key people. I love the depth throughout the novel which gives us the information that
Maurice Wilkins, Rosalind Franklin, Linus Pauling, Francis Crick, and James Watson

was more than Crick and Watson that led to this remarkable discovery through our
history. Another aspect that is astonishing is that fact Crick and Watson were so
close to giving up on the research of DNA and it s double helix structure. They
believed it would impede science and it s research. It held

What I Know About My Dad And Dad
Although I love my mom and dad equally their characteristics set them apart which,
makes me like one more than the other. I know it s not right to choose between
parents but most children have a favorite. I have always wondered why my Mom
and Dad were so different but alike at the same time. How they act is very different
from most parents as you will see.
My parents have multiple similarities. They are both obsessed with children. They
will baby sit anyone s child even for free. My mom and dad always watch my baby
cousins on the weekends and my niece on week days. We always have a least two
kids running around the house constantly. Let alone, my dad and mom are like
children themselves. They love to aggravate. My dad has a bad habit about messing
up someone s hair while walking by. My mom loves to trip and tickle people.
Speaking about my parents being like children, they are both so scared of storms.
My dad and mom both freak out when it starts to rain and they will not go by the
window when it s storming. Every time lightning strikes they both jump and monitor
the storm on the news all night. In addition though, my mom and dad love winter
like most children. They complain all summer about how hot it is and how much
they want winter to roll around. If it was up to my parents we would go to Alaska
for our summer vacation. There room is basically Alaska.
They both cannot go to sleep without the air conditioner being turned all the way up

Neighborhood featured appearances from many of Mr. Rogers neighbors, such as

One of the ways that youths in inner cities find stability in their unsafe
neighborhoods is by following the code of the street and campaigning for respect on
the street asserting their masculinity, confidence, and social status through posturing

the street can be seen in the fourth season of The Wire. In one of the first episodes of
the season, after walking out of Cutty s gym, Namond Brice is met by a wild eyed

Masculinity Essay
Part A: Bronies and the Social Construction of Masculinity According to Connell,
there are four masculinities present in our society: hegemonic, complicit,
marginalized, and subordinate. Hegemonic masculinity is the dominant form of
masculinity in society. It is culturally valued as the most type of masculinity. Connell
states that the qualities of hegemonic masculinity include heterosexuality, whiteness,
physical strength, and suppression of emotions. When men do not fit the
characteristics of hegemonic masculinity but they do not challenge it means they
belong to the complicit masculinity category. These men often admire the
characteristics of hegemonic masculinity. Marginalized masculinity is when men

these effects, and how might changes in our society affect the likelihood of people
acting prosocially?
According to Gross (2010) the term prosocial behaviour is used to describe
behaviours carried out by individuals intended to benefit others, such as helping,
cooperating, comforting, reassuring, defending, sharing, donating to charity and
showing concern. Whether one displays prosocial behaviour can, to a certain degree,
be dependent on several situational factors as explained in social psychology. These
factors typically include the individual s analysis of the ... Show more content on

This was a relatively extreme case in which situational factors significantly reduced
the likelihood of people engaging in prosocial behaviour.
A person s decision to act prosocially is also linked to the cost of helping. It is
thought that the likeliness of one exhibiting prosocial behaviour is affected by
whether the situation requires maximum or minimum effort and time (Stiff,
Dillard, Somera, Hyun, Sleight, 1988). This is based on the social exchange
theory, which argues that a great deal of what we do is rooted in the desire to
minimise our costs and to increase rewards. This theory, like evolutionary
psychology, is grounded in self interest however it assumes no genetic bias in self
interest (Stiff et al., 1988). Essentially, there are three ways in which being
prosocial can be rewarding according to the social exchange theory. Firstly, it can
alleviate the bystander s personal distress; secondly, it may increase the chance that
someone will, in return, help the individual in the future. Lastly, it can serve as a
catalyst in gaining social approval and in result, increasing one s self worth (Stiff, et
al., 1988). Participating in prosocial behaviours can also carry a great cost, thus these
behaviours decrease when costs are high. According to Aronson et al., (2006), a
presumption made in social exchange theory is that people help only when the
rewards outweigh the costs. Therefore, the social exchange theory presumes that

The Internet Has a Negative Impact on American Families
Does the Internet truly have a negative impact on today s family life? Many say that
is most definitely does. Have you ever known someone who is obsessed with the
Internet or spends more time on the Internet than they had intended to? You might
begin to think they are addicted. Ricco Siasoco defines Internet addiction as a broad
term including users addicted to chat rooms, auctions, web surfing, among others.
These other Internet addictions may include cyber relationships, gaming, and trading.
I have read several articles related to Internet addiction, and can not come to a
conclusion on whether or not it is a true addiction. However, I do believe that the ...

I can not understand why people would even do such a thing as have a cyber
relationship. One of Cooper s clients explains, For me it was the newness that every
relationship brings. A major issue about these online affairs is that they are kept
secret from the important people in one s life and end in broken family ties. In Marc
Levenson s article, Overcoming Cybersex Addiction, he declares that cybersex is not
recognized as a formal psychiatric disorder. But many clinics...treat Internet sex

twelve step program of Alcoholics Anonymous. Addicts learn to abstain a lifetime
pledge to avoid any sex online.
Another addicting feature of the Internet in online gaming. In general, web
designers know how to lure users to participate in their sites, whether it is signing
up for free materials or registering to join a game room. The article on Clear Lead
Inc. s web site tries to explain why some people become addicted to gaming.
Leonard Holmes states, There are indications that pleasurable games and activities
cause the body to produce endogenous opiates such as endorphins. These substances
are actually addictive. Could this be the reason why people get hooked on playing
Internet games? The article also points out that Many of these games require players
to concentrate and be able to go without a break for
Focus On California And Drought

October 13, 2015 Focus on California and Drought There are many problems with
world, but one of the most difficult problems are global warming and droughts.
Global warming leads to droughts, among other things, and droughts lead to trouble.
Droughts are very problematic, because they can lead to fire hazards, low food
cropping, and many other things. Drought is the absents or shortage of water and
water is an absolute must have in the world. There are so many problems because
of drought and people need to find solutions the problems. Climate change affects
many factors associated with drought. Beyond direct economic impacts, a drought
can threaten drinkable water supplies and entire ecosystems, and can even add to
increased food prices. California has had the driest year on record recently. There
are different types of drought. Drought can thought as dry, cracked earth; low
water levels, such as lakes and stuff; and barren fields, but these are examples of
different types of drought, each of which is measured differently. Meteorological
drought, which is very specific to the area as average precipitation, may vary
considerably spatially. This is a most often thought of as drought in comparison to
precipitation, assessing the degree of dryness (in relation to a local or area average)
and the duration of the dry period. A concern of farmers is agricultural drought when

The Definition Of Interfaith Marriage As A System Of...
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary (2004), the prefix inter means between,
among, together or involving two or more. It also says that the word faith means
strong belief or trust in someone or something , belief in the existence of God , or a
system of religious beliefs. In the instance of the term interfaith , we can put the two
definitions together and say that interfaith is involving two or more systems of
religious beliefs, or an existence of God. The dictionary defines marriage as the
relationship that exists between a husband and wife. So, putting the words interfaith
and marriage together would ultimately mean that the man and wife have two
different religious belief systems. Turner and West s (2006) book, Perspectives on
Family Communication, defines interfaith marriage as unions that include at least
two different religious identities. That is the definition of interfaith marriage in its
simplest form, but an interfaith marriage is far more complex than just its meaning.
To me, and also many others across the globe, interfaith marriage is a relationship that
needs special commitment and attention, and now, I will attempt to show you why.
Religionhas always been known for impacting marriage quality and satisfaction (see,
for example, Hood et. al.,1996), who also explain that a major reason for shifting
from one religious body to another occurs when people of different faiths marry.
Knowing that marriage is often the reason that
The Symbolism Of Clothing In Joseph s Story
Throughout different forms of literature, clothing is symbolically used to represent
the status of the main character at changing intervals of his or her life. Just as
clothing that is worn today can send messages about who we are as people, the same
phenomena can be said about clothing of past generations, as well as within a literary
context. Which garments are worn, and in fact, how they are worn, can lead to
identifications about culture, gender, wealth, socioeconomic status, and religion. Also
indicative of these characteristics is the absences of certain articles of clothing. In
Joseph s story, the garment motif is used as an obvious symbol, throughout the
entirety of the narrative to represent downfalls and uprises in the plot. This use of
symbolism may also reveal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many references to clothing can be found in the Old Testament. The general term
used was beged and it referred to both women and men s attire. It is used over 200
times (Batten 150). Within the text, nakedness or little clothing is seen in a
negative light. This may be due to the fact that it is sometimes representative of
low social status and may lead to dishonor or disgrace of one s family in the eyes
of the community. Conversely, when clothes are given it is seen as a restoration of
dignity (Batten 151). For example, in the book of Numbers, it was declared that
tassels must be worn on clothing as a symbol of God s covenant with Israel (15:37
41). This is because tassels or fringes in the hem was seen as visual evidence of an
elevated special status. In fact, the more decorated the hem of a person s clothing, the
more wealth and power the person possessed (Bertman 121 122). Additionally,
evidence has been found that indicates this ritual dates back as far as the ninth
century by the Assyrians (Bertman

The Pros And Cons Of Extraterrestrial Life
One of the most prominent and controversial topics related to astronomy is whether
or not there is life outside of our planet. This isn t necessary an issue, but rather a
question that has confounded me my whole life and what initially inspired me to
take this class. This question has driven people to question our place in the universe
all throughout history, and as best said by Neil deGrasse Tyson, The time honored
question: What is our place in the universe might just be genetically encoded in our
species (Tyson, 2003). Personally, I think it is ignorant to assume we are the only
living intelligent life in our universe due to its vastness and endless possibilities;
however, research hasn t proven much yet.
To begin, I want to first define extraterrestrial life, as there are many definitions and
part of what contributes to extraterrestrial life controversy. According to Nola Taylor
Redd in the article SETI The Search for Intelligent Life, extraterrestrial life can
roughly be categorized into two groups: the first category is life itself, which
includes microorganisms and other simple forms, and the second group includes
intelligent life. Intelligent life can simply be defined as life forms that originates
anywhere outside of Earth; however, this definition still feels a little broad and doesn
t exactly provide a clear idea of intelligent extraterrestrial life. In the article

Surface Area Volume Ratio Experiment
Surface area / Volume ratio Experiment
Introduction:
The surface area to volume ratio in living organisms is very important. Nutrients
and oxygen need to diffuse through the cell membrane and into the cells. Most
cells are no longer than 1mm in diameter because small cells enable nutrients and
oxygen to diffuse into the cell quickly and allow waste to diffuse out of the cell
quickly. If the cells were any bigger than this then it would take too long for the
nutrients and oxygen to diffuse into the cell so the cell would probably not survive.
Single celled organisms can survive as they have a large enough surface area to allow
all the oxygen and nutrients they need to diffuse through. Larger multi celled
organisms need specialist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interpretation:
In all the blocks of gelatin the rate of penetration of the hydrochloric acid from
each side would have been the same but all the blocks take different amounts of
time to clear because they are different sizes. As the blocks get bigger it takes longer
for the hydrochloric acid to diffuse through the entire block and so clear the dye. It
takes longer to reach the centre of the cube even though the rate of diffusion is the
same for all the cubes.
As the volume of the blocks goes up the Surface Area / Volume ratio goes down.
The larger blocks have a smaller proportion of surface area than the smaller blocks.
When the surface area to volume ratio goes down it takes longer for the
hydrochloric acid to diffuse into the cube but if the ratio goes up then the
hydrochloric acid diffuses more quickly into the block of gelatin. Some shapes have
a larger surface area to volume ratio so the shape of the object can have an effect on
the rate of diffusion.
By increasing the surface area the rate of diffusion will go up.

Black Men In The Scottsboro Boys
The communist party was all for supporting black people having a self government
and self determination even though some weren t in favor of this cause. Also due
to the rise of the communist party there was an increase in political effort to
protect the lives of African Americans. The communist party was able to help save
the lives of nine young black men from execution. This case was known as the
Scottsboro Boys ; in Alabama there were nine African American teenagers that
were arrested in 1931 for supposably involved in raping two white women on a
train. The teenagers were accused, convicted and were soon to face the death
penalty. Luckily for them the many African Americans from the communist party
supported them, the support system these boys had was amazing, this case
offered these young men an opportunity to play roles in the in the defense of black
men and the struggle they face against class and racial oppression. This case was
also a very personal case to the boy s families because they understood what it felt
like for their own husbands and children getting accused of raping someone and
they also feared that they would also get lynched. In 1933 about a thousand black
men and women gathered in Richmond, Virginia to protest for the release of the
nine young men. In the end the case was successful and the boys were taken out of
custody. Because everyone came together for a good cause the boys escaped
execution, Janie Patterson made this plea to help
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the demographic...
The demographic transition model describes how the population of a country changes
over time. It gives changes in birth rates and death rates, and shows that countries
pass through five different stages of population change (Stage one High fluctuation,
Stage two Early expanding, Stage three Late expanding, Stage four Low fluctuating
and Stage five Decline) The demographic transition model has both strengths and
weaknesses for example some strengths would include that the demographic
transition model is a universal concept, therefore being able to be applied to every
country in the world, Another strength would be that the model shows a change over
time and can be seen as a predictor, with the expectation that every country... Show

It also shows change over time and can also shows change over time and can be
used as a head start point for discussion about how to help LEDCs to develop.
However the Demographic Transition model also has its weaknesses some weakness
would include the fact that the demographic transition model does not include the
role of the government, some governments may put antenatal and prenatal operations
in place to encourage the decrease or to increase the birth rate within these
countries, therefore countries like China that are antenatal and have the one child
policy put in place and countries like the UK which are prenatal and offer child
benefits may show fluctuation of the birth rate in stages it should be decreasing or
increasing in. Further more In stage four, the UK experienced a post war baby boom
where the birth rate should be steadily decreasing this shows that the demographic
transition model does not include the impacts of wars, natural hazards or migration
either. In addition another weakness would be that it is Eurocentric based and
therefore is assuming that all other countries in the world will follow the European
sequence of economic changes
Health Systems And The Health System
From my point of view, I believe that the health system is facing a hindrance in
providing value to the patient. The inability to provide high quality, low cost health
care is now a double edged sword in our industry. In a time where reimbursements are
made on the patients perceived quality of their treatment, the organization can no
longer afford to run the business off of the volume of patients seen. Moving forward,
I believe that there are many changes that can be made, both internally and externally,
throughout the healthsystem to successfully implement patient centered care, which
would enhance our value chain. Based on the following recommendations, I
believe that the cost savings, or revenue generated, would impact the health system
substantially. Currently we are receiving a 1% penalty on a section of outpatient
physician practices. This proposal would allow for us to cease paying a 1%
penalty, and also allow for us to receive possible incentive payments for striving to
create a high quality at a low cost. To fulfill my proposal, the entire health system
would need to be educated, and willing, to make changes in their daily routines. In a
small community hospital where culture and politics often predict outcomes, this
would have to be a task that bypassed these factors. The clinical staff will have will
impact the most change, but all of the support staff will need to take action for the
plan to be successful. Although initially the proposed action to increase
My Childhood And Adolescent Years
In every person s lifetime, they experience phases of life in all aspects. Phases of
life that people endure are comparable to opening a door to enter a room. Whether
a person enters an area through a door or over a bridge, they are entering another
place from the one they were in previously. Entering another phase of life is similar
in numerous ways to passing through an entryway, as an unambiguous person or
group of people can exit a timeworn phase of life and move on to another one. My
escapade to UMass Lowell acts as a lifelong road; one that has engaged various
turns throughout my childhood and teenage years, and has plenty of points of
interest located at my memorable moments. My childhood and adolescent years
before college were an endless roadway that has gone through a long cycle of
straightaways and turns. Since I was a toddler, I have lived my life with a
condition that is common in an intermediate percentage of other toddlers known as
autism. Ever since my diagnosis, every moment of my life has always been
something different than the moments that have happened before. The road of my
life would always stay straight when I would develop into a change that would
remain constant for a while, and would often turn for a healthier or poorer moment
of my life whenever it would happen. The path my life s road would travel through
depends on the temporary or permanent alterations that would occur in me, whether
physically, mentally or socially. My road s path also
The Pros And Cons Of The Scientific Revolution
The discoveries made during the Scientific Revolution were incredible, impactful, and
never even thought about before. However, these new discoveries were constantly
under fire from the church. Even so, the breakthroughs kept coming, and the church
couldn t stop them. Some of these scientific discoveries are still in use today, and
were the building blocks to modern science. The people who made these revelations
were the scientists who first found out that the earth revolved around the sun, or that
the moon was full of holes and craters. There were many conflicts throughout this
period, as the church didn t want their power and ideas to come into question. That
was unacceptable to them.
One of the many people who contributed to the Scientific Revolution was Nicolaus
Copernicus. In 1543 he wrote and published On the Revolutions of the Heavenly
Spheres. This was his proposal of his theory of a sun centered universe, called a
heliocentric. He proposed that the sun was the center of the universe, not the earth,
as it was widely accepted to be at the time. He further said that the earth, along with
all the other planets in the solar system, revolved around the sun. In his predecessor s
theory, Claudius Ptolemy, it showed that the earth was the center of the universe, and
the sun and planets revolved around it. To show this, he made a geocentric model
depicting that theory, and it was widely accepted. Meanwhile, Copernicus made a
heliocentric model for his theory. It, naturally, showed his idea of a sun centered
universe (Document 1). Lots of people, experts, and especially the church, rejected
this revolutionary theory. People simply didn t want to believe, after years and years
of accepting that the center of the universe was themselves, that they, in fact, weren t.
In Europe, all scientific knowledge and religious teaching were heavily based on the
ideas and arguments of classical thinkers. They thought that if Ptolemy s geocentric
theory was wrong, then their entire scientific and worldly understanding might be in
question. However in the late 1500s, another astronomer, Tycho Brahe, found
evidence that supported Copernicus. Brahe constructed an astronomical observatory,
and spent years carefully studying and

Cangrelor, a potent intravenous, reversible, platelet P2Y12 inhibitor, was recently
approved by both the United States (U.S.) Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and
the European Medicines Agency (EMA) as an adjunct for percutaneous coronary
intervention (PCI). The approval was based on Cangrelor versus Standard Therapy to

CHAMPION PHOENIX (1) demonstrated that cangrelor significantly reduced the
rate of ischemic events without increasing severe bleeding. In the original analysis,
bleeding was site reported by the blinded investigators according to pre specified
definitions and was not adjudicated. While the EMA accepted this approach, during
FDA review, the sponsor and the FDA independently re evaluated bleeding in a
post hoc, non blinded manner. This evaluation included potential bleeding data not
necessarily captured on the bleeding case report form (CRF) by the investigator,
and findings were categorized and interpreted according to jointly agreed criteria
based on previously published bleeding classifications. For example, there was a

Should Sports Be Co-Ed
Sports should not be co ed, due to the differences in the capability levels of
athleticism between females and males. Sports are based off of age and skill, but the
female and male genders each have major differences in athleticism. Sports such as
football include factors such as size, strength and quickness. The maleand female
bodies are developed differently creating an unfair advantage to the men. Men are
born stronger than women due to their production of testosterone which helps build
muscle. Women do produce testosterone, but very little of it making the men
naturally stronger. Men just happen to have denser and stronger bones and ligaments
than women, causing a higher risk of injury. It is much harder if men and women

For example, according to Cassandra Meuret, author of Co ed Sports is Something
That Should Not Be Considered states Imagine football being mixed with both men
and women. A 250 pound linebacker charging at a 150 pound womandoesn t exactly
seem like the safest scenario. (Meuret 1). Another example is strength. Stated in
the article Should sports be co ed? strength is another big factor. The world s
strongest woman, who bench pressed 531 lbs, does not compare to the world s
strongest man, who bench pressed 1,008 lbs. (S 1). We should not integrate men
and women into the same team because with this difference in strength being as
drastic as it is, that is not fair to the male or the female in the situation. Say the
sport that is co ed is football, someone who can press almost double as another
person, is to tackle the smaller one, that could lead to a harmful injury. Strength
and muscle capacity may be important to the difference in men and women, but
height is another fatal factor. The article Should sports be co ed provides another
example of NBA basketball player at 6 6.98 (2007 08 Player Survey: Height),
which is well above the average height of a WNBA basketball player at 5 11.84
(2002 03 WNBA Player Survey Averages), the women would be at a disadvantage.
( S 2) With almost a foot difference, the male could reach the net a lot easier than
the woman could. With this height difference, this causes the male to have
naturally longer legs, with a longer stride. The world record holder for the men s
400m dash time is 43.18 seconds, which is 4.42 seconds faster than the world
record holder for the women s world record at 47.60 seconds (400 Metres). (S 3). Say
the world s fastest man, and the world s fastest women competed in a race. The male
would win because of the difference in leg strength and
Analysis Of Interview With The Vampire And Bram
Stokers...
Penetration in some form is usually present in sexual activity and penetration is an
overall theme throughout both films. The penetration that takes place in Interview
With The Vampire and Bram Stokers Dracula does not take place from sex, instead,
penetration comes from fangs, and yet the tone is extremely sexual in nature. The
scene in Interview With The Vampirewhere Le Stat brings two women back to their
home is a great example. In the scene, Le Stat bites one woman on the breast and
she squeals and moans in ecstasy. Her heavy breathing and sexual moaning make the
scene quite erotic. And when he sinks his teeth in deeper her eyes roll back in her
head in passion. It isn t until she notices blood that she becomes afraid.

In Bram Stokers, Dracula the scene where the character Lucy in lured outside is
riddled with sexual energy. Lucy is the quintessential archetype who is often
portrayed in vampire films, young, pale and with her breasts almost always
spilling from her dress. In this scene, the night is stormy, dark and dreadful. And
Dracula in the form of a wolf lures Lucy outside, she seems to be in a trance, she
can t control her urges and finds her way to the courtyard. Here she is ravaged by
this monster, the abject beast penetrates Lucy with his fangs as she moans and
exposes herself. In all regards, this scene should be terrifying but is filled with the
suggestion of sex.
Lucy is symbolic of how women who were unclean were viewed during the
Victorian era. Lucy was portrayed as evil and was easily manipulated. She was
nothing like Mina s character who was portrayed as the perfect Victorian woman,
loyal and intelligent. But Lucy can be more carefully examined too, she transforms in
the movie from a naГЇve unmarried 19 year old girl into a powerful sexual being.
Lucie s behavior was once seen as evil during Victorian times, so it seems natural
that she was the one murdered in the film and not Mina. But in the end, it is Mina
they should have feared, her intelligence surpassed their evil.
Folklore vampires often convey important social messages in that their undead

The Pressure To Read
I remember being pressured to experience another world, the world of books. I
remember late nights, trying to read the last 30 pages before the next day, so I
could take a test. It wasn t always like that. I used to enjoy reading before then. The
struggle came, when I started reading because of peer pressure, and reading
assignments. The burden of reading for others made me consider, more, the
reward of reading for myself. I had wonderful memories of reading and writing in
my early childhood. My mother was the one who first taught me how to read. She
would teach my brother, and I would just catch on. My mother pushed me to do
good, but that wasn t hard, because I had always liked a challenge. I enjoyed
reading any kid s genre, because nothing was inappropriate at that age. My favorite
books were the Berenstain Bears and books by Dr. Seuss. I would flip through the
pages and giggle at the stories, comparing them to reality. The book Green Eggs
and Ham by Dr. Seuss is a book I remember having an impact on me. It might have
been a little impact, but it taught me try things out before I judge them. I liked
reading so much that I wrote my own book and read it to the class, who enjoyed it.
In middle school, I began to read for others, and that s when the... Show more content

Reading expands my horizons and helps me become open minded to how others

writing. I used to think I could pull it off, when really, I couldn t. Also, I can
expand my vocabulary with reading. My vocabulary was getting worse when I
wasn t reading. My spelling began to fail me. When I told my sister that I wanted
to expand my vocabulary to sound smart, she told me not to sound smart. She told
me to be smart. Reading helps you become smart, and I will need that intelligence
because I don t want to walk around in a new city, or professional setting sounding

Examples Of Pronoun-Antecedent
My Weakness Became My Strength: Pronoun Antecedent
People always say practice makes perfect and that cannot be any truer when it
comes to writing. The more times I write an essay, the better I get at them. Even
from the very beginning of my English career, I have always had to work on
improving from my mistakes. Throughout the semester, I have realized that I have a
problem with pronoun antecedent agreements. In the past, I was not aware of
pronoun antecedent agreement problems in my papers. I had never been taught that
if I have a singular noun I need to use he or she to make the noun and pronoun agree.
Now, after writing essays over and over, I can pick out my mistakes and fix them so
that my pronoun and antecedent agree with each other. Over the course of the
semester, I have improved greatly throughout my three papers on my problems with
pronoun antecedent agreement.
The first essay, Sports, Trauma, and Tears , I struggled in pronoun antecedent
agreement. I had never before been properly taught much about pronoun antecedent
agreements in my previous classes. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Documentary About a New Universal Language Essay
In the middle of September in the year 2013 a new passion was
discovered. It was a passion that created innumerable ideas but one of them
stood out and would soon be brought to life. At the end of May in 2014 a
documentary would be formulated from hard work and passion. This unique
documentary asking people their outlook on our world speaking one universal
language followed a plan that altered countless times because of complications
or because of a superior idea was brought to light. A similar situation occurred
with the goal for this Independent Research Project. In the inception of this
venture the objective was to create a universal language and a documentary with
interviews and information regarding the creation of ... Show more content on

This followed with finding helpful websites and programs to give
assistance to complete the project while editing the interviews. A few of them
are Kickstarter, Etsy or Behance. Throughout the IRP process people were
consulted and gave assistance to conclude the Independent Research Project.
Avinash Dadlani, Evegeniya Dadlani, Jenny Amar, Marni Nia, and Zubin Amar
are the people who kindly contributed their opinion in the interviews that make
up the documentary. Before the questions for the interviews that eminently
contributed to the documentary a large amount of research was done. There was
research concerning other languages, and other universal languages. During the
process there was a profusion of successes and challenges. A fair amount of the
challenges occurred when the interviews were being scheduled or filmed as lots
of them were being cancelled and ended up never happening. This decreased the
number of interviews in the documentary. An abundance of them also took place
during the culmination of the journaling process when there was a diminish of
things to journal about. Scads of the success were the ideas for the documentary.
Some of these ideas might have not found their way into the final project but
were still very creative. These successes and challenges helped the project get
finer.

Reflection Paper About Mentoring
Mentoring: Perspectives from the ProtГ©gГ©s
My life, admittedly, has been one of grace and privilege. I was born into a loving
home and grew up attending church with my mother and two sisters. My father,
while unsaved, was exemplary in his provision for our family. To date, I have
attended three excellent institutions of higher education and currently am serving full
time within a ministry of consequence one that actively seeks to make disciples both
locally and internationally. Throughout my life I have had men and women mentor
me. I thank God for my parents, for my coaches, for multiple Sunday school teachers,
employers, professors, and pastors who shared their life with me. I am indebted to
them.
Today, my desire, like that of my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But most of all, I long for the affections of my heart and mind to reflect and resemble
an authentic and growing love for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
ProtГ©gГ©s also verbalized that they simply want to know what is true. Their desire
is to be led from the text of Scripture and not only talk about truths but to understand
the process of discovering the truths for themselves. They do not want to just carry a
denominational line, but to own the point ...to defend the Truth to their friends...to
know the strength of our positions. They want to know the truth, but they also want
to own it.
This is both a challenge and a blessing to the mentor. The challenge is in being
willing to hear the protГ©gГ© s questions without offense and to answer them with
wisdom, grace, and transparency. The blessing is in seeing another life grow in a
genuine love for Christ.
Authentic
Mentoring is effective when the mentor s words match their life choices. This is a
necessary trait. These non bifurcated mentors are the same inside the classroom as
they are outside the classroom; their lives are genuine, authentic, true, and consistent .
The truth that is taught in church is also the truth that is in their hearts.
Often the protГ©gГ© will watch for this trait during isolated moments of life...
moments when life is most uneventful. They watch how the way a mentor speaks to

The Dubbed The Gilded Age
The 1870 s 90 s in the United States was a period of rapid industrial, population, and
city growth. Dubbed the Gilded Age by Mark Twain, this era of growth also brought
on new, unprecedented problems. Unhealthy living and working conditions and
corruption were rampant and immigrants settled in cities that were unequipped to
deal with them. Under bossism, the dominant political system of the day, one political
giant controlled much of the cities they were the bossof. These bosses only solved
problems when they could see how it would keep them in power and relied on the
vulnerable poor and immigrants to make up much of their base. They learned to
appease them, but never to actually solve their problems. New inventions
revolutionized day to day life. The transcontinental railroad, the telephone, the
lightbulb, and electricity were all invented during this time. Factories sprung up
everywhere, especially in cities. Cities grew by up to 80% as people, mainly
immigrants, flocked to fill the job openings in the factories. But the apartments and
houses in the cities were not equipped to hold as many people as they were forced to.
Many of these new immigrant workers were limited to the only apartments they
could afford, which were run down, often with multiple families living together in
unsanitary conditions. And the workplace was no better. Men, women and children
employed by the factories were often abused, forced to work inhumanely long shifts,
and underpaid. There was
Analysis Of The Indiana Pacers
It still feels like the dust is settling from a venturesome off season for the Indiana
Pacers. Rebuilding is never an easy task, especially when you re basically forced to
and have to trade your best player who isn t exactly content. You add in the factor
that anyone who traded for Paul George, knew it s basically a one year rental. For
that reason, Indianadidn t receive what many people perceive as equal value in the
trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder for Paul George. The Pacers received
forward Domantas Sabonis and guard Victor Oladipo in the trade. Not an ideal
package for George, but nonetheless helps the rebuilding process with the addition of

basically leaves Ike Anigbogu, Edmond Sumner, Poythress, and Jarrod Uthoff. Out of
these guys, Poythress is likely the guy who comes out on top. He provides athleticism
to an up tempo team, not to mention spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers last year
for the final month and a half of the season.
From there it gets more and more difficult. Uthoff has a good case for himself
since he spent some time with the Dallas Mavericks last season. Both Anigbogu
and Sumner are both second round picks. Anigbogu was selected 47th in the 2017
NBA Draft by Indiana, and Sumner was traded to Indiana by the New Orleans
Pelicans after being selected as the 52nd pick. They ve all been pretty decent
throughout training camp thus far, Anigbogu has shown some conditioning concerns
early on in camp, but seems to have addressed those issues and seemingly getting
into NBA shape. I believe since he will likely play more center than anything else,
that he gets the final spot to add some depth to the front court. I m no saying he is

SONY VAIO LAPTOP LAUNCH IN CHINA
AUGUST 30, 2013
This memorandum is to suggest that Sony should stay on its premium offering and
be targeting the Chinese status focused segment while at the same time working on
the Quality of Lifers and
Technosocializers segments and increase their value in our product which as a
consequence will significantly be reinforcing Sony s market share and sales in China
within its coming launch of the VAIO laptop. The company s profits will increase
accordingly and Sony gradually will be the dominant in the laptop s market of China.
For that, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The laptop market penetration is currently assessed at 50% of the current
addressable market so growth in this market is slowing. Finding segments within
the market that differentiates VAIO from our competitors is a key to VAIO s future
growth in the Chinese laptop marketplace. In the future it can be expected that as
the market matures a larger proportion of future sales will come from replacements
or upgrades instead of sales to new entrants in the laptop market. Additionally,
approximately 50% of the working age population is 35 years old or less and this
age range is driving a move to status seeking in consumer purchases. Customer
interviews have shown that SONY is considered a premium brand.
Although the laptop market will begin to mature with slower growth, we can
capitalize on our strength of being a premium brand when customers choose to
replace or upgrade their laptops in the future. Our marketing program must continue
to establish us in the mind of the status seeking consumer as a premium brand.
With this in consideration and as shown in exhibit 1, analysis from the CLUES report
and Project
Compass highlighted six market segments of customers with greater than 60%
likelihood to purchase a laptop within the next 12 months. The SONY brand is
considered a premium, fashionable, status enhancing laptop and this is one of our
competitive strengths. After, reviewing the customer segment descriptions, four of
the market segments allow

It is extremely important to take note that the memoir you are about to portray is one
of the most simplistically beautiful and brutal pieces of literature ever written on the
Holocaust. It is your job to continue this brave act of defiance, to retell Wladyslaw
Wladek Szpilman s story to a wider, more modern audience than ever before. As Wolf
Biermann explains in the epilogue, this memoir is so difficult to swallow that the
Eastern European audience of 1946 were unable to tolerate such an authentic and
unflinching view of the horror they had lived through, causing the memoir to not be
published again until fifty years later. However,... Show more content on

It s resolute and powerful display of human weakness is a message that needs to be
portrayed accurately. By the end of the film, the viewer needs to fully understand
just how a leader like Hitler rose to power and successfully conceived and executed
history s greatest mass murder. It is essential to show Szpilman as not a typical
hero, but as a battered and weakened human being who by the grace of his fellow
man, survived. The film needs to offer the same stark reality that Szpilman
selflessly gives to the reader. This film cannot be another Hollywood feel good
film. No false messages of hope or salvation can be found in the memoir, and
therefore, should not be found on the screen. The senseless violence and mob
mentality of this era needs to be understood by the modern audience, so as to never

Theme In Ghassan Kanafani s Men In The Sun
Theme Of Men In The Sun: In the short novel, Men In The Sun, Ghassan Kanafani
engraves a depiction of the evident hardships, anguish, and humiliation that every
Palestinian endures. Ghassan Kanafani uses poignant words to grasp the inmost
portion of the hearts of his audience. His usage of vivid imagery and figurative
language forge a mood of pity and sorrow towards the four protagonists. Each
protagonist is introduced with a heartbreaking backstory. These four backstories
clarify to the audience why each character has decided to reach Kuwait. As they
embark on an ambitious journey to freedom, they are met with numerous
complications; such as weather, age, Abu Baqir, and even each other. As the somber
novel comes to an end, so do the lives of three crucial characters. Hope is truly
absent in Men In The Sun and loss surfaces as the mere connecting element: Abu
Qais losses his source of income, Assad his innocence, Marwan his education, and
Abul Khaizuran his manhood. Kanafani utilizes these losses to compose a novel that
provides a unique perspective of the Palestinian cause. Furthermore, the unfortunate
losses of each character mold their personality. Kanafani shapes a chilling theme in
Men In The Sun: Loss strikes every heart, which is indisputable in the distressing
losses of Abu Qais, Assad, Marwan, and Abul Khaizurn. Abu Qais is the first
character the audience is acquainted with. He is hesitant and panicked about his
decision to travel to Kuwait; he was

biggest themes in the book Ishmael are the desire to save the word, leavers and

Christian Worldview Definition
A worldview is an intrinsic part of a person. It shapes who they are, what they
believe, and how they act. It is something that each person holds on to, and lets it
shape themselves, their personality, and their interactions with other people. Senator
John Thune believes that, Having a Christian worldview shapes my decision making
with respect to all aspects of my life. I always respect people in public life who are
principled, and those principles have to connecte to something. And my faith is what
serves as the anchor and directs my actions. Yet, even though Senator Thune believes

Career And Life Of An Obstetrician

There are so many careers to choose from in the world. I have changed my mind
about my career and lifestyle so many times. It was hard to find a career suitable to
me, but I found one that sparks my interests. Obstetricians work with pregnancy,
labor and delivery of women. This career is something I would aspire in doing and
fits my lifestyle.
To become an obstetrician it requires an average of 12 years of education and
training. You need to complete a four year bachelor s degree along with four years of
medical school and three to eight years of residency. Obstetricians are primary
caregivers of women during their pregnancies. Obstetricians main purpose is to
deliver healthy babies, but they also provide medical care to women at various life
stages. The skills of an obstetrician don t just lie only in prenatal, labor and delivery.
Theses doctors also diagnose illness and disease, prescribing contraceptives, routine
exams and tests.
Acquired with an aptitude in science and medicine obstetricians require certain
skills. An OB GYN should have critical thinking, decision making, and problem

communicate clearly and listen actively. Most obstetricians go into private practice
after they have had enough work experience and training. Job opportunities are

Compare And Contrast Federalist And Anti Federalists
Tex Elliott
Mr. Matthews
US History 10

Federalist VS Anti Federalist
Since America s early founding in 1776 we have been a country of wide ranging
political views. Our first two political parties were the Federalist and the Anti
Federalist. These two parties changed how people think about government issues,
political opinions, and the topics that drove the growth of our nation. Federalist and
Anti Federalist split the nation with beliefs, important politicians, and support from
the people.
These two parties would not have existed if it were not for their strong opposing
opinions. People typically choose sides because they think the opinion they have is
right and the opposing side is wrong. These two groups choosing sides with their
strong opinions on how the United States should be governed were the beginning of
our two party system. The men who created each party were appointed by President
George Washingtonto serve in his cabinet during his term.
Federalist believed that a strong central government was very important to maintain a
country. They believed the states should not have much power to themselves and
there should be a national bank to take all of the state s debt. The Federderalist loved
the constitution and thought that was enough to protect the people s rights (cornell
The Great Debate).
The Anti Federalist thought the opposite, Anti Federalist wanted power in the states
and a small central government because they just fought for

  • 2. Toys R Us Case Study Conclusion Chapter 5: Summary, Recommendations, and Conclusions Summary This paper researched the fact that the Toys R Us Company was displaying a weakness in financial related issues due to the lack of proper strategic planning. This made the company susceptible to many threats in the industry s competitive environment. The research has shown that its main competitors Walmart, Target, and Amazon are functioning successfully in the industry while Toys R Us heads for bankruptcy. This research emphasizes the fact that Toys R Us has not taken steps to strategize its operations properly which resulted in a loss of revenue and opportunities in their environment. If the company does not take steps to better its strategic planning, the company will not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr. Brandon, CEO of Toys R Us, Inc. stated There is simply no reason to go somewhere else our focus is kids and families every day of the year unlike some of our competitors who only play (pun intended) a few weeks a year Toys R Us Inc.,2017, Oct 24). Another innovative way the company has gained competitive advantage recently is by introducing Play Labs nationwide. Play Labs are a free reality application which includes AR games and play experiences that children can play on their smartphone or tablet devices while they are in the stores shopping. Toys R Us is now more than just a place to shop, they have created experiences which bring their stores to life with their interactive games that the kids highly enjoy playing (Toys R Us Inc, 2017). There are different ways how Toys R Us can reach profitability by obtaining customers year round. The company should appeal to its established historic customer base that will respond to its stores because of their loyalty to the company. The company can do this by opening new product lines. They can focus on obtaining products that are high in demand by their competitors. They can use their already established company popularity to obtain strong supplier relationships for the additional products. These will supply the company with an additional source of income and the
  • 3. Tequila Crisis Research Paper The cause of Tequila Crises was a catalogue of several issues that build up to a crescendo level and generated into an explosive situation, that resulted in the collapse of the financial institutions and subsequently led to civil disobedience. There were in my opinion two causes; the remote and the immediate cause. In the remote cause; the government embarked on reforms and deregulation of the economy in the 1980s on a scale that was seen as too quick and too fast and sudden. Among some of the reforms, the then President Miguel de la Madrid(1982 1988) took a bold decision to liberalize Trade and International Capital flow which he had thought would bolster trade relationship between Mexicoand the developed countries.. Furtherance to that, the government moved to reduce import tariffs on items imported from Uruguay, a neighbor country to cement trade relationship between Mexico and Uruguay under the auspices of General Agreement on Tariff and Trade (GATT)...Then came the predecessor of President Miguel; President Carlos Selinas de Gotari (1988 1994) went further to sign foreign trade agreement with United States called North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and later liberalized the financial system, privatizing the largest commercial banks and deregulating the banking system.; Obstfeld and Taylor (2004).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This triggered the worst banking crises in Mexican history (1995 1997) and the largest depreciation of the currency in one year; from 5.3 pesos per dollar to over 10 pesos per dollar between December 1994 and November 1995 to cause the most severe recession in Mexico, and therefore ushered in the Tequila
  • 4. Ordinary Resurrections, By Jonathan Kozol The novel Ordinary Resurrections, written by Jonathan Kozol, focuses on an area in south New York called the Bronx, which is a poor community composed of mainly African American and Hispanic people. The author, Jonathan Kozol, focuses the novel specifically on the children who live in a section of the South Bronx called Mott Haven, which is America s epicenter for the plague of pediatric and maternal AIDS (Kozol 3) and is one of the centers of an epidemic of adult and pediatric asthma. (Kozol 3). The people of Mott Haven do not have sufficient access to healthcare, live in extreme poverty, and are malnourished. However, Kozol does see some good things in Mott Haven such as the teachers at the public elementary school. Kozol is impressed with these teachers because they strive every day to provide education and aid to the kids of the Bronx. He believes that the education of a person early in their life has a major impact on who they turn out to be. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the primary message that Kozol is trying to get across to the reader in order to help poor communities with underfunded education programs. Also, Unemployment in the South Bronx, over all, remains at over forty five percent. (Kozol 4). These children grow up in poor families that cannot pay for extra education such as tutoring or private schooling. Kozol wants each and every child to receive equal public educational opportunities regardless of economical status. Without equal educational opportunities the children of Mott Haven will not have a very good chance at
  • 5. Who Is Louis Riel National Hero Louis Riel was a national hero, especially to the MГ©tis of Canada. He defended his people, the MГ©tis, and their rights by creating Le ComitГ© National des MГ©tis and the provisional government at Fort Garry. He showed the Canadian government that he is not a joke with the execution of Thomas Scott. He contributed to the creation and government placed in Manitobawith the Manitoba Act. And he also left, coming back with a new view and to attempt a peaceful negotiation. Louis Riel went against the Prime Minister, John A. MacDonald, to get the MГ©tis people the rights they deserved. He seized Fort Garry with the National Committee of MГ©tis as their leader. He did this to set an example and show MacDonald just what he is capable of. Riel set up a provisional government to replace the committee with himself as the leader, after refusing to take money to join the USA. This is where the MГ©tis wrote their List of Rights. Which were brought to MacDonald but promptly ignored. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of them escaped, so Riel sent more men to retrieve them. He had to make sure his people were happy and not think of the casualties. Schultz escaped, but they did capture one Thomas Scott. Scott insulted and attacked the guards while jailed and threatened to escape and kill Riel many times. The people eventually were tired and scared of him so they consulted Riel. He decided to try him with the MГ©tis military council, used for the buffalo hunt. They tried him guilty for insubordination. He was shot by a MГ©tis firing squad; this caused an uprising of mixed opinions in Ontario and Quebec. This put MacDonald in a very difficult place, giving Riel some satisfaction that he had put his opposition off his
  • 6. Insanity In One Flew Over The Cuckoo s The nineteenth century may have inspired transformation of society, but there was no radical improvement in the relationship between the male psychiatrist and the female patient. A new generation of doctors, even more moralistic, domineering and masculinist in their approach than their predecessors, employed scientific methods of research inspired by Darwinian theories, which gave full weight of scientific confirmation to the narrow Victorian ideals of femininity (Showalter 122). The intellectual inferiority of women was confirmed as a result of reproductive specialization (Showalter 122). 2. 2. The Position of Twentieth Century Women in The Bell Jar 2. 2. 1. Manifestations of insanity and the disintegration of personality The Bell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is partly due to the changes in the psychiatric methods. Further into the twentieth century, institutions for mentally ill began to suffer from the lack of credibility and bad reputation of unnecessary cruel treatments administered not only on women, which were supported with popular literature such as One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest. Furthermore, increasingly popular belief in the curability of mental illnesses with the employment of drugs all culminated in the beginning of de institutionalisation of psychiatry. Considering the position of women in society, Atwood s nameless Narrator has already achieved what Esther Greenwood could only hope for she has both a career and the freedom to indulge in sexual relationships without the restrictions of marriage. Yet, even though she can enjoy considerably more freedom than her predecessors due to the spreading opposition towards the male supremacy, she still feels powerless and sees herself as a victim of the patriarchal society. The forced abortion is one of the triggers of her madness. Traumatized by this experience when she felt completely powerless and out of control, the Narrator has also lost trust in society and
  • 7. Melanin Melanin is a pigment that determines the colour of the skin, eyes and hair, playing a role in camouflage, heat regulation and cosmetic variation. It also plays a critical role in photoprotection due to its ability to absorb harmful ultraviolet radiation (UVR). As the skin is the largest organ of the body, it is constantly influenced by external and internal factors thus, melanin is an important defence system that protects the skin against harmful factors (Costin Hearing, 2007). The process by which melanin is produced and distributed by the epidermal units of the skin is called melanogenesis (Videira, Moura, Magina, 2013). Extrinsic factors, such as UVR and certain chemical compounds, and intrinsic factors, such as secretions by keratinocytes or fibroblasts, can have an influence on melanogenesis. Predetermined genetic factors, such... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mature melanocytes have long projections that are in contact with 30 40 neighbouring keratinocytes thus making up the epidermal melanin unit (Tsatmali, Ancans, Thody, 2002). In order for melanin to play its role in photoprotection, the mature melanosomes are transported into the cytoplasm of the keratinocytes via the melanocyte s long projections. Inside the keratinocytes, melanosomes form a cap around the nucleus. The melanin inside the melanosomes absorbs the UVR emitted from the sun thus reducing the amount of UVR reaching the nucleus (Tsatmali et al., 2002; Videira et al., 2013). This process of photoprotection is illustrated in Figure 1. This photoprotection is necessary as UVR can damage DNA causing mutations leading to cancer (Videira et al., 2013). In addition, melanosomes are not only found in the skin but can also be found in several other tissues such as the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, the uvea of the eye, cochlea and adipose tissues (D Mello, Finlay, Baguley, Askarian Amiri,
  • 8. Social Movements And The Civil Rights Movement When a diversity of communities come together to demand social or political change it is evident that something is wrong with the judicial system. Throughout American History, millions of people worldwide have gathered to support each other by gathering and protesting for what they believe is right. Social movements such as The Abolition Movement, The American Revolution, Women s Rights Movement, and The Civil Rights Movement are examples of the significant impact they have made to American History. Two rising controversial movements that seem to be rising are the Black Lives Matter and the Blue Lives Matter movements where in some cases the outcomes seemed righteous as to others, actions were unjustifiable which have caused... Erdrich narrates the day she rescues a kitten from beneath her house, despite the fact that she does not even like cats. Her maternal instincts take over when she hears the kitten cry, which causes her to do whatever it takes to rescue the kitten. Then, the author analyzes the event and she expresses her emotional response. She presents this irony in a humorous way, which allows comic relief in the middle of a dangers situation. It is evident that this literary work has an expressive approach. The author shares a personal experience of rescuing a kitten from beneath her house. In her reflection, she reveals what the basement symbolizes to her, which is both comfort and death: comfort, because she finally rescues this tiny creature ; death, because she is in need of a rescue herself. No one else is aware that she is beneath the house, and she is so far beneath, in a small space; she feels as if she may be stuck and die there. She compares her feelings to what she thinks a fetus may feel right before delivery, and states that, what the body remembers of birth it anticipates as death. Erdrich expresses her emotional reactions throughout, and she carefully selects words that cause an aesthetic effect. She says the kitten has a piteous cry that she can hardly stand to hear. Then, she gets so close to the kitten and brushes its fur, but the kitten scrambles away, and she feels a slight warmth come over her, which is a mad calm. This mad calm pushes her to complete this rescue mission. She continues to try and catch the kitten, and she continues to fail. Her desperation is apparent, but she prevails and takes a deep breath, and remains patient, and finally she catches the kitten. Erdrich uses description and first person narration

As the Mafia grew in America, they prospered off illegal gambling and prostitution. It wasn t until 1919 with the ratification of the 18th Amendment to the Constitution that the Mafia really gained power. The 18th amendment banned the distribution and manufacturing of alcoholic beverages in America (Prohibition 2). Although this amendment meant nothing but good, it did the exact opposite to America. While politicians saw an improved nation with this amendment, criminals saw green. Americans now thought drinking as a thrill, it was something illegal that they can do but get away with. It was the rush of getting away with it that made speakeasies so popular. What is the evidence for these effects, and how might changes in our society affect the likelihood of people acting prosocially? According to Gross (2010) the term prosocial behaviour is used to describe behaviours carried out by individuals intended to benefit others, such as helping, cooperating, comforting, reassuring, defending, sharing, donating to charity and showing concern. This was a relatively extreme case in which situational factors significantly reduced the likelihood of people engaging in prosocial behaviour. A person s decision to act prosocially is also linked to the cost of helping. It is thought that the likeliness of one exhibiting prosocial behaviour is affected by whether the situation requires maximum or minimum effort and time (Stiff, Dillard, Somera, Hyun, Sleight, 1988). This is based on the social exchange theory, which argues that a great deal of what we do is rooted in the desire to minimise our costs and to increase rewards. This theory, like evolutionary psychology, is grounded in self interest however it assumes no genetic bias in self interest (Stiff et al., 1988). Essentially, there are three ways in which being prosocial can be rewarding according to the social exchange theory. Firstly, it can alleviate the bystander s personal distress; secondly, it may increase the chance that someone will, in return, help the individual in the future. Lastly, it can serve as a catalyst in gaining social approval and in result, increasing one s self worth (Stiff, et al., 1988). Participating in prosocial behaviours can also carry a great cost, thus these behaviours decrease when costs are high. According to Aronson et al., (2006), a presumption made in social exchange theory is that people help only when the rewards outweigh the costs. Therefore, the social exchange theory presumes that there is no

It also says that the word faith means strong belief or trust in someone or something , belief in the existence of God , or a system of religious beliefs. In the instance of the term interfaith , we can put the two definitions together and say that interfaith is involving two or more systems of religious beliefs, or an existence of God. The dictionary defines marriage as the relationship that exists between a husband and wife. So, putting the words interfaith and marriage together would ultimately mean that the man and wife have two different religious belief systems. Turner and West s (2006) book, Perspectives on Family Communication, defines interfaith marriage as unions that include at least two different religious identities. This may be due to the fact that it is sometimes representative of low social status and may lead to dishonor or disgrace of one s family in the eyes of the community. Conversely, when clothes are given it is seen as a restoration of dignity (Batten 151). For example, in the book of Numbers, it was declared that tassels must be worn on clothing as a symbol of God s covenant with Israel (15:37 41). • 29. Surface Area Volume Ratio Experiment Surface area / Volume ratio Experiment Introduction: The surface area to volume ratio in living organisms is very important. Nutrients and oxygen need to diffuse through the cell membrane and into the cells. Most cells are no longer than 1mm in diameter because small cells enable nutrients and oxygen to diffuse into the cell quickly and allow waste to diffuse out of the cell quickly. If the cells were any bigger than this then it would take too long for the nutrients and oxygen to diffuse into the cell so the cell would probably not survive. Single celled organisms can survive as they have a large enough surface area to allow all the oxygen and nutrients they need to diffuse through. Larger multi celled organisms need specialist ... Interpretation: In all the blocks of gelatin the rate of penetration of the hydrochloric acid from each side would have been the same but all the blocks take different amounts of time to clear because they are different sizes. As the blocks get bigger it takes longer for the hydrochloric acid to diffuse through the entire block and so clear the dye. It takes longer to reach the centre of the cube even though the rate of diffusion is the same for all the cubes. As the volume of the blocks goes up the Surface Area / Volume ratio goes down. The larger blocks have a smaller proportion of surface area than the smaller blocks. When the surface area to volume ratio goes down it takes longer for the hydrochloric acid to diffuse into the cube but if the ratio goes up then the hydrochloric acid diffuses more quickly into the block of gelatin. Some shapes have a larger surface area to volume ratio so the shape of the object can have an effect on the rate of diffusion. By increasing the surface area the rate of diffusion will go up. Also due to the rise of the communist party there was an increase in political effort to protect the lives of African Americans. The communist party was able to help save the lives of nine young black men from execution. This case was known as the Scottsboro Boys ; in Alabama there were nine African American teenagers that were arrested in 1931 for supposably involved in raping two white women on a train. The teenagers were accused, convicted and were soon to face the death penalty. Luckily for them the many African Americans from the communist party supported them, the support system these boys had was amazing, this case offered these young men an opportunity to play roles in the in the defense of black men and the struggle they face against class and racial oppression. This case was also a very personal case to the boy s families because they understood what it felt like for their own husbands and children getting accused of raping someone and they also feared that they would also get lynched. In 1933 about a thousand black men and women gathered in Richmond, Virginia to protest for the release of the nine young men. In the end the case was successful and the boys were taken out of custody. Because everyone came together for a good cause the boys escaped execution, Janie Patterson made this plea to help
  • 31. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the demographic... The demographic transition model describes how the population of a country changes over time. It gives changes in birth rates and death rates, and shows that countries pass through five different stages of population change (Stage one High fluctuation, Stage two Early expanding, Stage three Late expanding, Stage four Low fluctuating and Stage five Decline) The demographic transition model has both strengths and weaknesses for example some strengths would include that the demographic transition model is a universal concept, therefore being able to be applied to every country in the world, Another strength would be that the model shows a change over time and can be seen as a predictor, with the expectation that every country... However the Demographic Transition model also has its weaknesses some weakness would include the fact that the demographic transition model does not include the role of the government, some governments may put antenatal and prenatal operations in place to encourage the decrease or to increase the birth rate within these countries, therefore countries like China that are antenatal and have the one child policy put in place and countries like the UK which are prenatal and offer child benefits may show fluctuation of the birth rate in stages it should be decreasing or increasing in. Further more In stage four, the UK experienced a post war baby boom where the birth rate should be steadily decreasing this shows that the demographic transition model does not include the impacts of wars, natural hazards or migration either. In addition another weakness would be that it is Eurocentric based and therefore is assuming that all other countries in the world will follow the European sequence of economic changes
  • 32. Health Systems And The Health System From my point of view, I believe that the health system is facing a hindrance in providing value to the patient. The inability to provide high quality, low cost health care is now a double edged sword in our industry. In a time where reimbursements are made on the patients perceived quality of their treatment, the organization can no longer afford to run the business off of the volume of patients seen. Moving forward, I believe that there are many changes that can be made, both internally and externally, throughout the healthsystem to successfully implement patient centered care, which would enhance our value chain. Based on the following recommendations, I believe that the cost savings, or revenue generated, would impact the health system substantially. Currently we are receiving a 1% penalty on a section of outpatient physician practices. This proposal would allow for us to cease paying a 1% penalty, and also allow for us to receive possible incentive payments for striving to create a high quality at a low cost. To fulfill my proposal, the entire health system would need to be educated, and willing, to make changes in their daily routines. In a small community hospital where culture and politics often predict outcomes, this would have to be a task that bypassed these factors. The clinical staff will have will impact the most change, but all of the support staff will need to take action for the plan to be successful. Although initially the proposed action to increase

Phases of life that people endure are comparable to opening a door to enter a room. Entering another phase of life is similar in numerous ways to passing through an entryway, as an unambiguous person or group of people can exit a timeworn phase of life and move on to another one. My escapade to UMass Lowell acts as a lifelong road; one that has engaged various turns throughout my childhood and teenage years, and has plenty of points of interest located at my memorable moments. However, these new discoveries were constantly under fire from the church. Even so, the breakthroughs kept coming, and the church couldn t stop them. Some of these scientific discoveries are still in use today, and were the building blocks to modern science. The people who made these revelations were the scientists who first found out that the earth revolved around the sun, or that the moon was full of holes and craters. There were many conflicts throughout this period, as the church didn t want their power and ideas to come into question. That was unacceptable to them. One of the many people who contributed to the Scientific Revolution was Nicolaus Copernicus. In 1543 he wrote and published On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres. This was his proposal of his theory of a sun centered universe, called a heliocentric. He proposed that the sun was the center of the universe, not the earth, as it was widely accepted to be at the time. He further said that the earth, along with all the other planets in the solar system, revolved around the sun. In his predecessor s theory, Claudius Ptolemy, it showed that the earth was the center of the universe, and the sun and planets revolved around it. To show this, he made a geocentric model depicting that theory, and it was widely accepted. Meanwhile, Copernicus made a heliocentric model for his theory. It, naturally, showed his idea of a sun centered universe (Document 1). Lots of people, experts, and especially the church, rejected this revolutionary theory. People simply didn t want to believe, after years and years of accepting that the center of the universe was themselves, that they, in fact, weren t. In Europe, all scientific knowledge and religious teaching were heavily based on the ideas and arguments of classical thinkers. They thought that if Ptolemy s geocentric theory was wrong, then their entire scientific and worldly understanding might be in question. However in the late 1500s, another astronomer, Tycho Brahe, found evidence that supported Copernicus. Brahe constructed an astronomical observatory, and spent years carefully studying and

Sports are based off of age and skill, but the female and male genders each have major differences in athleticism. Sports such as football include factors such as size, strength and quickness. The maleand female bodies are developed differently creating an unfair advantage to the men. Men are born stronger than women due to their production of testosterone which helps build muscle. Stated in the article Should sports be co ed? strength is another big factor. The world s strongest woman, who bench pressed 531 lbs, does not compare to the world s strongest man, who bench pressed 1,008 lbs. (S 1). We should not integrate men and women into the same team because with this difference in strength being as drastic as it is, that is not fair to the male or the female in the situation. Say the sport that is co ed is football, someone who can press almost double as another person, is to tackle the smaller one, that could lead to a harmful injury. With this height difference, this causes the male to have naturally longer legs, with a longer stride. And Dracula in the form of a wolf lures Lucy outside, she seems to be in a trance, she can t control her urges and finds her way to the courtyard. Here she is ravaged by this monster, the abject beast penetrates Lucy with his fangs as she moans and exposes herself. In all regards, this scene should be terrifying but is filled with the suggestion of sex. Lucy is symbolic of how women who were unclean were viewed during the Victorian era. Lucy was portrayed as evil and was easily manipulated. She was nothing like Mina s character who was portrayed as the perfect Victorian woman, loyal and intelligent. But Lucy can be more carefully examined too, she transforms in the movie from a naГЇve unmarried 19 year old girl into a powerful sexual being. Lucie s behavior was once seen as evil during Victorian times, so it seems natural that she was the one murdered in the film and not Mina.
