Analysis Of The Book The Necklace
The necklace She removed the wraps which covered her shoulders before the glass, so as once
more to see herself in all her glory. But suddenly she uttered a cry. She no longer had the
necklace around her neck! Her husband, already half undressed, demanded: What is the matter
with you? She turned madly toward him: I have I have I ve lost Mme. Forestier s necklace. He
stood up, distracted. What! how? impossible! And they looked in the folds of her dress, in the
folds of her cloak, in her pockets, everywhere. They did not find it. After a sleepless night, her
husband decided to tell Mme. Forestier the truth. But She did not agree with him. She is a vain
person, and she worried that when Mme. Forestier know it will spread everywhere. She did not
want anybody know that the glory of her success in the ball was not belong to her. Then they
went from jeweler to jeweler with the box which had contained the necklace, trying to find if
there is any possible they can find a necklace which look like the same as the one they lost. They
have searched every jeweler in the whole city after three days. Unfortunately, there was no any
necklace looks like the one they lost. In the three days, her husband always tried to persuade her to
tell the truth to Mme. Forestier. However, she felt very desprate, and she began to think about her
husband s advice. You have to write to your friend, said her husband, that you have lost the necklace

Gran Torino Psychology
I enjoyed your post Lori, Philadelphia is a great movie. Like you, I have already watched quite a
few on the list. As per our instructions I will compare the attitudes, beliefs, understandings, and
acculturative experiences inherent in Philadelphia (1993) and Gran Torino (2008). In Gran
Torino (2008) the main character, is a Korean War Veteran and has an obvious bias towards
those of Asian descent. He also harbors guilt from killing a Korean soldier who had surrendered
while in Korea. His neighbors are of Asian descent and he catches the son trying to steal his car
and because of that his family makes the son do work for him as penance. Due to the Korean and
Vietnam wars, Asians had faced discrimination and racial slurs, this film portrayed that no

The movie portrays a lawyer who was fired on the suspicion of having AIDS, and homophobia
associated with AIDS was very true to real life. Per The New York Times (1999) in 1993 doctors
had found several strains of HIV that were resistant to the newest drugs and any possibility of a
vaccine had not been reached. For the LGBTQ community, not only were they struggling for
heterosexual rights, they were also bearing the weight of the AIDS epidemic. Additionally,
LGBTQ s feared being open about their sexual orientation even more so during the early 1990 s
(NYT, 1999). Legislation in the form of The Hate Crimes Sentencing Enhancement Act became a
law in 1993 in the same year as Philadelphia as noted by the Human Rights Campaign (2017).
LBGTQI are likely to suffer from suicidal ideation and depression because of discrimination and

Catherine Troup Oral History
1.Oral History has gone through a complex evolution in the professionalization of history. Green

tainted by personal subjectivity. However, at the same time, oral history saw a revival with the
arrival of New History. Green and Troup articulate, history from bellow embraced oral history as a
means for rewriting history from the perspective of the marginalized or oppressed. This opens up
the discussion of individual agency. Which is more important in terms of oral histories, the agency

Loneliness And Pain With A Drizzle Of Mixed Emotions About...
Heartache and pain with a drizzle of mixed emotions about life as an independent woman is what
Kate Chopin was confronted with and it is what she wrote about in her short stories. We are
talking about a woman before her time that challenged all to see the world through representations
of reality. She was able to see the world for what it was during a difficult timefor people of color
and women battling to have equal rights. Repeatedly, she wrote about death, exotic thoughts,
superficial love and real life issues however, the stories she wrote often portrayed some form of the
life events and struggles that she in fact faced herself. As a young girl Kate was exposed to, and
witnessed many events that helped to influence her unique writing... Show more content on

mother s head down to her, and whispers he hasn t punished one of them not one of them since

life events with the region in which she lived, the social class of her real life husband and
slavery. When Kate was nineteen she married Oscar Chopin whom was a successful cotton
broker, and over the next ten years she and Oscar had children and this seemed to have brought
joy to Kate and Oscar s life. (pg. 420 American Literature) This seems to be a similar story line in
both Desiree and Kate s life. They both met and married a successful man, they both lived in
Louisiana, have a child or children and seem to be happy. Even though Kate s and Desiree s story
seem to take a different turn of events for a moment in time there are items that need to be brought
to light. Kate brings the area of Louisiana to life when she describes the the sad looking place,

Iliopsoa Research Paper
The iliopsoas is actually two muscles, the psoas major and the iliacus. They originate in different
areas, but come together to form a tendon, hence why they are commonly referred to as one
muscle. Unlike many of the anterior thigh muscles, the iliopsoas does not extend the leg at the
knee joint. The psoas major originates from the lumbar vertebrae, and the iliacus originates from
the iliac fossa of the pelvis. They insert together onto the lesser trochanter of the femur. The
iliopsoas flexes the lower limb at the hip joint and assists in lateral rotation at the hip joint. The
psoas major is innervated by anterior rami of L1 3, while the iliacus is innervated by the femoral

The quadriceps femoris is the main extensor of the knee. This muscle also influences our form in
many other types of movement, depending on how weak or how tight this group of muscles
may be.Because the iliopsoas muscles work when you lift your leg toward your torso, the lying
leg raise is an example of how you can strengthen the iliopsoas. Perform this exercise with or
without weights. To begin, lie on your back with your legs extended.Tight iliopsoas muscles are
associated with lower back discomfort because the muscles pull on the pelvis and affect range of
motion in the lower back. After you work to strengthen the iliopsoas muscles, stretch them to
minimize muscle tension. The iliacus originates in the iliac fossa of the pelvis. The psoas major
unites with the iliacus at the level of the inguinal ligament and crosses the hip joint to insert on the
lesser trochanter of the femur. The iliopsoas is involved in flexion and lateral rotation (supination)
of the thigh. The psoas is a deep seated core muscle connecting the lumbar vertebrae to the femur.
The psoas major is the biggest and strongest player in a group of muscles called the hip flexors:
together they contract to pull the thigh and the torso toward each

Contract Law Vs. Kent Case
Contract law has set out to provide a healthy trade environment. Contracts are promises enforced
by the law, with the support of something of value that has a legal purpose. It is an agreement
between parties, formed by the elements: offer and acceptance, with all parties having the
capacity to perform obligations enforceable by law. There are instances where the enforcement of
a contract would bring about gains or losses to society and commerce. In the Jacob Youngs,
Incorporated vs. George E. Kent case, Jacob Youngs, the plaintiff, claims that there was a breach of
a clause in the contract with the defendant, George E. Kent. The clause stated that any work that is
either defective or not in accordance with specifications will be... Show more content on

Also, the replacement of the piping would have resulted in the wasting away of materials that
went into the construction of the house. To the courts, and in my view, this would not have
been the best allocation of resources in society as the time, and labour that went into the
development would be sunk. The relief that the plaintiff obtains the remaining balance for
building the house promotes society s well being so that honest mistakes, as long as their costs
are not substantially great, are forgiven and that unconscionable judgments are not made. The
Osprey LLC vs. Kelly Moore Paint Co case primarily deals with the use of language in a
contract. The defendant, Kelly Moore, leased commercial property from Osprey, the plaintiff,
under a fifteen year contract with two five year renewal options. The clause in the contract stated
that notice of the renewal of the lease shall be given in writing and may be delivered either
personally or by depositing the same in the United States mail... Kelly Moore faxed the second
renewal to Osprey but Osprey claims to have never received it and sued Kelly Moore for breaching
the contract. The court reasoned that the faxed delivery is sufficient enough to renew the lease.
Justice Kauger delivered the majority opinion that examined the elements of this binding
agreement. In this examination, the court used a two step analysis to determine whether it would
be fair to rule

RIP A Remix Manifesto
RIP: A Remix Manifesto offers a convincing case for copyright reform raising the issues about the
viscous control on the ownership of intellectual property against the free access to share ideas.
Gaylor (2008) is passionate about the ridiculous copyright laws and their ongoing restrictive
modifications in the USA that are demolishing the creativity of new ideas and innovations that
these copyrightlaws were originally meant to protect. Gaylor (2008) uses his favourite artist Girl
Talk who samples and remixes music, to centre his documentary in an effort to defend the public
domain and its ability to share free idea, along with the use of the remixer s manifesto Number 1.
Culture always builds on the past. Number 2. The past always tries to control the future. Number
3. Our future is becoming less free. Number 4. To build free societies you must limit the control
of the past. The first point made in the remixers manifesto involves Gaylor (2008) exploring the
history of artists who have used the creativity of the past for the inspiration of their new idea;
including Walt Disney and Metallica who has borrowed previously made song structures from
musicians both have now become harsh advocates for the current copyright laws. In keeping with
Gaylor s (2008) style, the remaining remix manifesto points will become a guideline for the
remaining essay along with the issues and case study that will be represented on the poster.

How Samuel Adams Set a Brush Fire in the Minds of the People
It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush
fires in people s minds. This is a quote from Samuel Adams. He truly lived his life according to
this statement. Adams spent his life as part of the irate, tireless minority, and as he would put it,
he set many brush fires in people s minds. As the leader of the Sons of Liberty, a patriotic rebel
group, he convinced many people to stand against British rule. He knew that he did not need as
many people as the British; he just needed a group of bold and risky people to stand firm in their
beliefs. Born on September 27, 1722 to Samuel and Mary Adams in Boston, Massachusetts,
Samuel Adams had a promising future. His family was wealthy and respected church members.
As a teenager, he attended Boston Latin School and Harvard. At one point, his family lost much
of their money and Adams had to work as a waiter. This helped him better understand the less
wealthy people in Boston. He knew how high taxes could affect the income of an average
family. This could have inspired him to become a patriotic leader, instead of the church leader
that his father wanted him to be. Even though Adams was not a deacon or minister, he still held
on to his Puritan beliefs he was raised with. Adams tried to be a businessman in his early life, but
quickly found that business was not his talent. In 1765, he was elected to the Massachusetts
Assembly, where he served as a clerk for seven

The Ultimate Fighting Championship
The Ultimate Fighting Championship The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is recognized
as one of the fastest rising sports in America today. In a matter of two short years, it has gone
from an underground spectacle with evolving rules and standards to a recognized sport with a
mass fan following comparable in number to professional wrestling in the В‘80s and В‘90s. The
demand the sport has on a fighter s body and the endless time devoted to training that a fighter
must endure have solidified the UFC s place as a serious contender for the newest, world
recognized sport. The excitement and electricity felt by fans viewing the fight live and by those at

Set aside the physical demands of conditioning, a fight lasts as short as a one punch knock out to
the full fifteen to twenty minute battle. Twenty minutes of being punched in the face, kicked in
the ribs legs and face, getting body slammed onto the wooden mat, and being choked until
submission or loss of consciousness would toughen a human far more than the toll a body takes
in any other sport. Another factor that is somewhat overlooked is the effect fans have on a sport
and its events. With a truly passionate group of fans, a sport can really excel. The quick growth
of the UFC fan base may cause the opposition to question the true loyalty and passion of the fans
of the UFC. Just watching an event live, however, you can really see the intrigue and energy in
the building. And if the sport pulls you in, you may feel the energy yourself. One reason for this
energy is the sheer excitement of a fight. Another reason, and possibly the reason for the
excitement, is the complexity of the sport of MMA. At first glance of an uninformed eye, the
UFC literally looks like an unorganized street fight in an octagon shaped cage. Upon spending a
small amount of time openly watching a single fight, one will begin to recognize the commonly
referred chess like precision of a fight. This is possibly the most important reason I feel this sport is
at the top of all

Malaysia is one of the great international success stories of the past generation. Back then,
Malaysia lagged behind Haiti in per capita income but since then it has grown an average of 7
percent annually and would rank third in per capita wealth in the Western Hemisphere. In any

Since, there are also pleas for a shift to social development , which is believed to add more to
happiness than continued economic development does. Social development is a rhetoric notion in
the first place. It denotes a contrast with economic development , but has no clear meaning in itself.
The term suggests something more communitarian than market economy, leaving open what that
precisely is. The concept functions in fact as an umbrella for different alternative views, suggesting
that these go together. The organ donation among Malaysian leads to the Malay Dilemma on social
development because eventhough the Malays in Malaysia is the largest ethnics, but unfortunately
the statistics shows that the Malays are the least to sign up for organ donation. As we know, organ

Similarities Between Tell Me A Riddle And The Rocking...
Tell Me A Riddle and The Rocking Horse Winner are similar stories as they both focus primarily
on the lives and hardships of the mothers and their eldest children in the story. Tillie Olsen s story
Tell Me A Riddle can be compared to DH Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner with similarities
in theme. Both Olsen and Lawrence focus on the theme of neglect and abandonmentdriven by the
lack of attention the eldest children receive from their mothers. However Olsen addresses this theme
through symbolism whereas Lawrence uses personification. The new idea that is revealed about
neglect and abandonment through the analysis is that it can be both intentional and unintentional
and can be interpreted differently by different characters.
In both Tell Me A Riddle and The Rocking Horse Winner Olsen and Lawrence use the theme of
neglect and abandonment to describe the relationship between the eldest children in the story and
their mothers. For example in Tell Me A Riddle Emily feels abandoned by her motherafter the birth
of her sister. This is because her mother could no longer care for Emily which led her to send
Emily to the convasalent home. It states I used to try to hold and love her after she came back,
but her body would stay stiff, and after a while she would push away (Olsen,4). At this point Emily
is separated from her family for eight months, not being able to hold on to personal belongings that
remind and connect her to them. Emily feelings of abandonment is evident here as

The Importance Of The Vedic Ritual
On one hand, Brian Smith provides the definition that Vedic rituals refer to the rituals of the
Vedic religion and later Hinduism surrounding the concept of Veda , which is defined as thought
by some to merely signify a Hindu notion of absolute truth or truth in a general sense (Smith,
1989, p. 2). On the other hand, later in his book he refers to Marcel Mauss definition of magic (
Magic gives every outward appearance of being a gigantic variation of on the theme of
causality...it s exclusive aim is to produce results (Smith, 1989, p. 36)), and from this he claims
that from the definition the Vedic ritual can alternatively be called magic or a kind of science
(Smith, 1989, p. 36).
Jamison and Witzel argue that The central importance of elaborate ritual activity throughout the
Vedic periodcannot be overemphasized. However, it is also important to remember that our views
of Vedic ritual are somewhat distorted by the chronology of the text types that concern the ritual. It
is only at the very end of the Vedic period, in the Ељrauta SЕ«tras, that we have straightforward,
detailed descriptions of ritual (Jamison Witzel, 1992, p. 29). In consequence, the meanings
concerned in the practice of Vedic rituals may be overexaggerated by researchers due to the lack of
understanding of the texts written about Vedic rituals.
Interestingly though, throughout hundreds of years, the Vedic rites became more complicated and
had developed countless rules that were entwined with the

Huck Finn Superstition Research Paper
Superstition is present throughout history, it has been molded to fit society s wants and has been
changed to fit individual desires. Whether it is a witch, zombies, throwing salt over your left

spider, or tossing the bride s garter, some individuals use this as a causation for good or bad luck.
All of the above superstitions were once widely known, even during the 1840 s. The 1840 s were
a time of slavery, oppression, and superstition which are all present in Mark Twain s novel The

Incorrect. The 1840 s built a negative mindset towards witches and even had slaves genuinely

Nat proclaimed Oh, it s de dad blame witches, sah, en I wisht I was dead , which showed he was

Compatison of Spotty Handed Villainesses and Keynote...
A text of timeless appeal is marked by effective construction of rhetoric to support its main ideas.
Discuss this statement, making detailed reference to at least two speeches.
Great speeches are those which timelessly captivate audiences through their integrity and rhetoric
treatment. This is relevant to Margaret Atwood s speech in 1994, Spotty Handed Villainesses
(hereafter referred to as Villainesses), and Aung San Suu Kyis speech in 1995, Keynote Address at
the Beijing World Conference on Women (hereafter referred to as Keynote). The ability of a speech
to resonate with audiences is dependent on their effective constructive of rhetoric to support the
orator s main ideas.
In Atwood s Villainesses , aims to captivate audiences... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Atwood uses the rhetoric device of dirimens copulatio in the extract what are novels anyway? Only
a very foolish person would attempt to give a definite answer to that , this hints at self deprecation
and creates a sense of humility and textual integrity as she accept s this flaw in her argument so to
appear unbiased. Atwood argues that the depiction of women in literature ironically prevents
women s advancement, similarly Aung San Suu Kyo argues that the depiction of women in their
traditional roles of carers and nurturers has prevented their advancement in politics. Atwood
employs polyvocality to shift from complex arguments to the seemingly simplistic anecdote of the
eternal breakfast. Her literary knowledge and wit allows her to embody her message and complex
ideas to convey that she as a woman is complex. The speeches timelessness and treatment of
universal concerns through the construction of rhetoric support her argument and captivate the
attention of past and present audiences.
In Keynote , the composer effectively constructs rhetoric to addresses the universal issue of gender
inequality to satisfactorily call for social reform. Suu Kyi was a recognised activist for women s

Flicker Vertigo Studies
One of the main visual contributors to discomfort on high speed trains is lighting. Illumination
within the trains carriages is an important factor to consider for safety, convenience and comfort.
One of the main sources of discomfort related to illumination is glare. Glare occurs when the eyes
are exposed to a source of lightgreater than that for which the eyes are adapted. Glare can either
occur from the artificial lights inside the train carriages or externally from the sunwith
complications ranging from mild discomfort and annoyance, to an impediment to vision and
reduction in safety (Oborne, 1978).
In order to reduce discomfort and disability glare there are a variety of designs considerations that
should be considered. Although completely eliminating glare from the sun is almost impossible,
due to its ever changing intensity and position relative to the train, there are certain measure that
can help reduce it. The simplest preventative methods include equipping the windows with blinds
which the passenger can utilise to achieve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Flicker vertigo is defined by Rash (2004) as an imbalance in brain cell activity caused by
exposure to the low frequency flickering (or flashing) of a relatively bright light . The effects of
this can vary from mild discomfort in the form of dizziness, nausea and nervousness to more
serious effects of vertigo, convulsions or loss of consciousness (Oborne, 1978). Flicker vertigo
can affect a passenger if they are experienced to a light flashing sequence anywhere in the range
of 4 20Hz (Rash, 2004). In high speed rail this light flashing sequence can be a result of the
interruption of sunlight by external objects such as poles or wires. It is therefore difficult to design

Aristotle Soul Of Tragedy Analysis
For Aristotle, the unity of temporality guarantees the unity of the plot s action. The dramatic
action, being the mimesis of representation, demands a certain magnitude to expand the
temporality of the plot, a length which allows of the hero passing by a series of probable of
necessary stages from bad fortune to good, or from good to bad, may suffice as a limit for
magnitude of a story (Aristotle, 1450b45) Aristotle uses the subject of the Odyssey as an example
of a tragic plotwhich encompasses the coherent totality of unity of time and unity of action,
Homer, in writing an Odyssey, he did not make the poem cover all that ever befell his hero it
befell him (Aristotle, 1451a25). Plot is the soul of tragedythat forms meaning necessary to make
sense of human action for the spectacle (L3, Aristotle Tragedy). Thus, the spectator is able to
reason and make probable through the mimesis of action contain in the plots soul of tragedy.
Reversal, recognition, and suffering are elements that encompass the soul of tragedy the plot. The
dramatic plot, the soul of tragedy, is a, whole that that which has a beginning, middle, and end
(Aristotle, 1451a19). According to Aristotle, a good poet often stretched out beyond its capabilities,
and is thus obliged to twist the sequence of incident (Aristotle, 1451b37). With this, he believes that
the reversal is the change in fortune, described from one state of things within the play to its
opposite, and that too as we say, the

How Are Hurricanes Formed
Recently we have had many powerful hurricanes that have left cities in shambles, whole countries
destroyed, and many dead or injured. Many know that hurricanes are sometimes extremely
dangerous especially with current climate change, but what many don t know is just how dangerous
can they be. Which led me to my question how are they formed?
Hurricanes begin to be formed in the ocean, from nearby areas, with high air pressure, reach into
the areas with lower air pressure. One the different air pressures combine, the air becomes warm,
causing it to rise. When it is rising, the nearby air swirls around the area left behind by the air that
rose. The storm starts to swirl, quicker and quicker, it creates an eye is created in the center. The

Analysis Of Hey There Delilah
Confessing Love Through Song The purpose of this paper is to analyze the song Hey There
Delilah by the Plain White T s. This paper will identify the message and tone of the song, as well
as the artist s appeal to the audience by analyzing the organization of the song, and the specific
rhetorical strategies the artist used to connect to the audience. The song s organization, style,
figurative language, and hyperboles in the lyrics will also be analyzed to connect the artist s
intention back to the audience. In this song, the artist s main point and thesis, is that he is head
over heels in lovewith a girl named Delilah. He wants to tell the world, and Delilah herself, how
much he loves her, and how their love conquers the distance between them.
This song was released in May 2006 in the United states, with the intended audience being people
ranging in age from middle school age to college age. He chose this range in age to connect to a
broad amount of people, with the general assumption that they would be familiar with what love is,
or have experienced it themselves.
The artist wants the audience to feel his substantial affection for Delilah, and how it is unchanging
even though they are separated by distance. He appeals to the audience s emotions of admiration,
compassion, and longing for another person. The artist does this by singing about his extensive
love for Delilah, which may lead people to think of someone they themselves care deeply about, or
an example of love in their life.
The artist chooses an upbeat and happy tempo that repeats throughout the song. He chooses this
repeating tempo to draw the listener s attention to the lyrics of the song. The slow, yet happy tempo
paired with the artists bright and cheery voice creates a sense of ease and happiness within the song
itself, and the audience.
In this song, for the majority of the time the artist is confessing and explaining his love for
Delilah to the world, and Delilah herself. He does this by telling the audience exactly what he is
thinking, however, he does use imagery on occasion to accentuate his point. For example, the artist
uses the simile Times Square can t shine as bright as you, to compare Delilah s radiance to the
lights of New

was the first time I had been to an all inclusive island resort vacation and I had no idea what to
expect. After leaving cold New Jersey on an early morning in February we got off the plan, only
a few hours later and walked down a flight of steps off the airplane. The change in temperature
immediately hit my face as I felt the heat and humidity of Turks and Caicos. It was a stark
contrast from the snowy, cold climate we had just left in New Jersey a few hours earlier. My family
and I gathered our luggage and boarded a shuttle bus that dropped us off at the resort. I had no
idea what to expect, but as soon as we got of of the shuttle bus at the resort and a woman handed
me a warm towel to wash my hands, and a cool drink of tropical punch, I knew right away that I
was going to like this place! After we had unpacked our luggage, my family and I decided to go for

Groupon Case Study
1. Coupons have been around forever, so why has Groupon become successful?
I believe that Groupon has become successful for many different reasons. First of all, Groupon was
the first to transport the traditional Coupon clipping to the online world. This opened many
opportunities. It was something new, exciting to consumers that they hadnВґt seen in this way. So
Groupon had a first mover advantage even though they only connected already existing ideas and
technologies in a new way. By being online Groupon could reach many, possibly millions, of people
at once. This was a strong argument when Groupon talked to local merchants. As most of these
merchants did not have an extensive marketing budget and were not necessarily familiar with new

Making the offers timesensitive triggers a feeling in consumers that they might miss out on a
chance that will not repeat itself if they donВґt act now. Many even bought vouchers that they never
redeemed, just not to miss out on an opportunity. In this sense Groupon is speaking to the risk
aversion of the majority of people. The thrill of seeing how much time is left on a coupon and
how many others are acting as well, appeals to a personВґs addictive behavior. We wantto repeat
the thrill of the bargain hunt. Groupon then made many moves to foster and expand its initial
success. It expanded rapidly into more cities and later on even more countries. It fostered its
connection with social media and the online world by setting up an affiliate marketing program
that allowed bloggers and websites to earn commissions. This online referral was also expanded
by giving consumers a direct incentive to refer Groupon by offering them a 10$ reward towards a
future purchase. Groupon also heavily invested in paid search engine advertising and even created
an ad that was shown during half time of the super bowl. So, to sum up, Groupon made sure that
its existence spread as fast and as much as possible.
2. Local merchants have a mixed reaction about Groupon. What is your opinion is it good for
merchants or not?
In my opinion Groupon is not a ready to go solution to the problem of low marketing budgets of
many local merchants. If Groupon is good

Dramatic Irony In Shakespeare s King Richard III
An unfavourable representation of the king and his court In the beginning of Act 2 Scene1 of
Shakespeare s King Richard III, everyone is in a room in King Edward s palace. Edward sent a
letter to pardon Clarence but it got intercepted by Richard. Which is why, Clarence has just been
executed but no one knows about it. This is the first and only scene that Edward will appear in.
He is sick and expects to die so he is trying to make peace between Queen Elizabeth, her son
Dorset, her brother Rivers, and Hastings, and Buckingham. He needs to ensure that his kingdom
does not fall apart after he passes away and that the power still stays with his family. To achieve
this, Edward gets three of the Woodvilles, Rivers, Queen Elizabeth, and Dorset, to swear an oath
with Hastings. This passage paints a very unflattering picture of the king and his court: an egoistic
king, and two faced nobles, through religious language and dramatic irony. Edward starts off the
scene by congratulating himself with work that he has not yet done when he comments... Show

Edward s character increases the irony because he is so full of himself. This causes him to
believe that he actually reconciled all the quarrelling nobles and brought peace among them. At
the same time, the nobles actions and words are also very misleading compared to what they are
actually thinking. Later it is proven that Edward s reconciliation failed when the Woodville family
didn t claim the throne, but instead Richard did, bringing chaos and starting the War of Bosworth.
Edward tries to portray himself as a powerful and religious king but his big ego prevents him from
seeing how deceitful his court is. Overall, this passage expresses how the appearance of characters

The Terrible Boy Analysis
In the article The Terrible Boy written by Tom Junod Jonathan Miller was one of the world s
most terrible boys. In America s eyes a terrible boy is cruel, hostile and merciless. In this article,
Jonathan was painted by these descriptions. However, this wasn t always the case. He wasn t
terrible when he moved to Georgia he just wanted to get kicked out of school, so he did whatever
it took. Though in highschool he took on the description of a terrible boy. It all started on the bus
when Jonathan threw a open ketchuppacket at his rival Joshua Belluardo. They got off the bus and
instead of a fight it was a crime scene.Jonathan murdered Joshua. Sadly, though Jonathan was a
terrible he should have been shown mercy.
However in the article The Terrible Boy Jonathan was not the only terrible boy; Tom Junod was
also a terrible boy. He took advantage of a boy named Timmy Titimski for the fact that he was

Teachers Students And The Learning Environment
Teachers conducting action research in there class Action research is a means through which an
educator stays informed of the on going trends in education with specific interest in individual
content areas or classroom management techniques. Teachers need to understand these trends to
better serve the students. By participating in these research activities, teachers embrace change in
pedagogical strategies and learn how to best understand their students and the learning environment.
These in turn opens avenues for differentiated instruction. Differentiated instruction is a teaching
strategy that varies teaching techniques depending on individual student needs to meet the student
at their points of need. Meeting students at their points of need and teaching them required content
based using the most appropriate method should be the sole purpose for every educator. Therefore,
teachers should conduct action research in their own classrooms to be better educators. Action
research in classrooms can also yield new teaching and testing strategies. Action research project

Analysis Of Tim O Brien s Going After The
Paul in Wonderland: Reality vs. Fantasy in Tim O Brien s Going After Cacciato
On the surface, Tim O Brien s 1978 novel Going After Cacciato seems like a typical telling of the
Vietnam War from the perspective of one of the soldiers as the Third Squad searches for
Cacciato, a soldier who has gone AWOL. However, a closer reading would reveal that the vast
majority of the novel does not actually take place in reality. This search for Cacciato is a fantasy
which takes place in Paul Berlin s head, and the scenarios and even the Vietnamese people who
aid the Third Squad are completely fictitious. Only in a handful of chapters does the novel take
place in reality, and even fewer of these chapters takes place in one which is permanent. Reading the

The terminology parts unknown is frequently used in fairy tales and other stories in the genre of
fantasy, especially as a representation of a good place. The fact that they are currently fighting a
war in Vietnam, along with knowledge that Vietnam was once a colony of France, juxtaposes
Paris with the term parts unknown , as Paris can be seen similarly to the soldiers fighting the war
as the Emerald City is seen in any of the books in the Oz series.
The other chapter that takes place on the battlefield in a permanent reality is chapter 46, the last
chapter of the novel. One noticeable comparison between this chapter and the first chapter is that
they both share the same name: Going After Cacciato . This shows that they are both parts of the
same scene, where Doc tells Corson the news about Cacciato going AWOL. In this regard, the
novel seems to have finally come around full circle as Paul Berlin fully reenters reality after the
fantasy of the Third Squad chasing Cacciato across multiple continents. The beginning of the novel
has become the end.
This is even supported by a summary which occurs early in this chapter. Her smile when she first

Sources of Air Pollution in Sidney
Motor vehicle emissions remain the highest source of air pollution in Australian major cities with
Sydney holding the record for the worst air quality in Australia. Although Sydney has
comparatively better levels of air quality compared to other major cities in the world, air pollution
is still a major environmental and health issue. The NSW Department of Environment and
Climate Change have put the cost of this issue to human health at more than $4.7 billion each
year in the greater metropolitan area. Health experts have also estimated that air pollution cause
up to 1400 deaths per year in Sydney alone, and up to 2000 hospital admissions for respiratory
and cardiovascular illnesses. In a 2004 statement by the CSIRO, the mortality rate due to air
pollution in Australia (approximately 2,400 deaths each year at the time) was higher than the road
toll (approximately 1,700 deaths each year at the time), and these estimates have only risen in
recent years as medical science gains a better understanding of the link between air pollution, health
problems, and the significant cost to our economy. The cause of this pollution can be put down to
Sydney s ever growing vehicle numbers. According to the NSW Government s 2009 State of The

household is now estimated to own 1.49 cars and take 16.3 million car trips totalling 132 million

Also, the news article on the human cost of workplace bullying claimed that such conditions were
costing Australian economy between 6 to 36billion dollars a year. The major reasons pinpointed
were the reduced productivity, increase in number of absenteeism and turnover. In addition to its
impact on economy, workplace bullying has a devastating effect on the individual employees.
Bullying can bring significant damage to the victim s wellbeing, which in extreme cases leads to
suicide. Regarding a research conducted by Toni Mellington, an Australian health psychologist,
there is a direct negative relationship between bullying and health. (Gregor 2015) Employees who
claimed to have been bullied reported poorer health, with an increase in severity of bullying
increasing the chance of poorer health. The finding also suggested that the experience of merely
witnessing bullying can also have a negative impact on one s health, backing up the fact that
bullying affects not only the individual but the entire firm.
The eye catching studies above urge a prompt reaction towards resolving workplace bullying.
Currently everyone at workplace is potentially at the risk of being bullied. Knowing the prevalence
of bullying and the

The Evil Character Of Iago
Evil has been portrayed throughout time in many ways. In Christian theology, it has been shown
through the character of Satan and his various sins. In Stephen King novels, it is portrayed
through the imagery provided by monsters and humans with cruel intentions. All these characters,
though different in many ways, all hold a similar trait, that they are aware of the evil nature and
how they represent a different nature to seem a certain way to others. They may portray
themselves as kind, caring, and honest when they are in fact, quite the opposite; cruel, dishonest
and malevolent. They also all have the power to be destructive, even if they do not have a direct
reason to, only their own desire to do so. While good is self producing and improving, evil is self
destructive and can only create evil. Iago, as an evil character, holds many similarities to other
wicked figures, and is sometimes seen as a satan like figure. Shakespeare uses the character of Iago
to display the different forms evil can take on such as being hidden behind false intentions, turning
into an image of good, and its destructive nature resulting into its own end.
In the beginning of the play, Iago is seen by other characters as a wholesome character, often
called Honest Iago due to his seemingly kind nature, though it is merely a mask his wickedness is
hidden behind. Iago, when speaking to Rodrigo about his honorable position, he reveals his true
intentions behind what he does in his position by saying,

Character Analysis Of The Mayor Of Casterbridge
How heavily do one s characteristics impact their life? Hardy Lawrence s, The Mayor of
Casterbridge, answers this question with the main protagonist. By focusing on psychological
aspects, nuanced characters, and the everlasting concept of life s consequence, the power of the
character is revealed. Ultimately, one s character defines their life substantially. The Mayor of
Casterbridgerevolves around the theme of character. Michael Henchard, the novels protagonist, is
also the most complex. From the beginning, Henchard is filled with bitterness. He is doomed for
demise. Despite his efforts to change, he cannot. Henchard is described as a dejected twenty one
year old hay trusser. His drunken rage leads him to sell his wife and daughter at a county fair for
a mere five guineas. Following his actions, he experiences extreme guilt, which is indicative of
his tendency to respond to his circumstances with intense emotions. Swaying from one extreme
emotion to another is part of Henchard s character that makes him as complex as he is. As the
novel progresses, the reader notices Henchard s change of heart towards various circumstances
and people. As the novel opens with chaos and bitterness, it alludes to the general tone of
Henchard s life. The detail in which the protagonist is described allows for a deep analysis of his
character. Lawrence portrays Hechard as a character that aligns with the classic tragic hero. His
impetuous behavior leads to the grave mistake of

The Scarcity Of Water And Its Effect On Gender Inequality

The Paucity of Water and its Effect on Gender Inequality in India
Based on a research survey conducted by the United Nations it reveals that, convenient access to
water and sanitation facilities increase privacy and reduce risk to women and girls of sexual
harassment ... (United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, 2005). Women
living at the beginning and middle points of the village have to trek for a considerable distance
to reach the stream, when compared to those who live at the bottom of the village near the
stream. Women are the primary stakeholders in the fight for clean water as sources such as many
rivers and wells are contaminated as they bear the burden and lack the freedoms that are
necessary to ensure equality not inequality. Women in India have limited access to resources and
the ability to express in the public sphere, which creates division of bearing the burden of
responsibilities in the fight against the shortage of water. In many rural areas in India, women
have to walk a distance of about 2.5 kilometers to reach up to the source of water. Women reach
home carrying heavy pots, not to rest but to do other household chores of cooking, cleaning,
caring of children and looking after livestock, and in the evening fetching water. Thus, a rural
woman s life has become sheer drudgery for lack of water. There are many key causes of the water
crisis that are due to: a rapid growth

Difference Between Deep Ecology And Western Worldview
Every person has a different way of viewing the world that is based on what a our simple beliefs
are and with our basic beliefs and values. We are able to make sense of the world and to gain an
understanding of knowing where our place and purpose in the world, through this we are able to
choose between the behaviours of right and wrong. This is called the western worldview, where
we have an understanding of being placed in the world that is based on human dominance over
nature, the restricted use of natual resources, and increased economic growth to manage an
expanding industrial base (Linda R. Berg, 2008 ).
Western Worldviews on the Environment
When it comes to the environmental beliefs there two main worldviews, the Western worldview
and the deep ecology worldview. Although both of these worldviews are broad generalizations
(Linda R. Berg, 2008 ) they are at opposite ends of a range of different worldviews that are related
to the the issues of global ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Together, along with philospher George Sessions they discuss how deep ecology is an
understanding of knowing where we stand as humans in the world alongside nature and spiritual
respect for life. It is also knowing that both humans and other species are of equal earth (Linda R.
Berg, 2008 , p. 32). Unlike the Westen worldview, the deep ecology worldview constitutes an
extreme shift in how humankind can relate themselves to the environment (Linda R. Berg, 2008 ,
p. 32). Deep ecology expressess that humans are no different to other species on the earth and that
everything that breaths life have the right to exist. It challenges individuals and cultures to share the
same inner spirituality that is connected to the natural world, but many people in this day in age
have not embraced the Western worldview or the deep ecology

Romans Lifestyle
references to both the ancient and modern world.
Leisure is something that most people enjoy. Whether it s going away for a weekend spa break,
taking long walks, or spending a day off fixing an old car, the way we experience leisure varies
from person to person. As Jon Pike points in Chapter 1, some activities may not seem like leisure to
some people. Taking long walks could seem like a way to make yourself exercise more, for
example. But if you go for walks for no other reason than you enjoy it, the activity becomes leisure.
In this essay, I will be looking closely at leisure activities from both the ancient world, and the
modern one, and discussing how social status impacted on the way people experienced leisure. I
will start by discussing leisure amongst the Romans, giving brief examples of what they did for
leisure, then moving on to talk about if, or how, social status amongst them affected their
experience of it. Then, I will move on to discuss leisure in the modern world, again, giving brief
examples of what we do for leisure, then talking about whether or not social status affects how we
experience it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, these forms of leisure were available to most Romans, and even some Roman slaves
were allowed to attend events in the Arena Helen Lovatt speaking in Aetatem tibi agere ,2008,

main form of leisure for upper class Romans was the villa. Either in the country or by the sea, the
villa was the dream location for Romans wanting to get away from city life (Huskinson, 2008,

A Brief Review Of The Watsons Go To Birmingham-1963 By...
One of the characters from the book The Watsons go to Birmingham 1963 by Christopher Paul
Curtis, is Bumphead, who is Byron s best friend and fellow juvenile delinquent. One of his traits
is bully, he bully many kids including his own brother. He bullies them either for their
appearance or just for the fun of it. Bumphead bully Rufus for the way he dresses because Rufus
doesn t have much clothes. An example of his bully is when Bumphead put butter on Byron s
head, this caused Byron s dad to cut all his hair. This shows that Bumphead is a mean and bad
young boy who likes to bully others. He doesn t care about what can be the result of his bully to
other kids. I do not agree with Bumphead s behavior because he can get in a big trouble doing...

Secondly, these shops profitability is very much affected by fierce pressure on margins imposed by
powerful suppliers. Consequently, due to this downturn, the weaker manufacturers exit the industry
and the remaining manufacturers gain market shares and become more powerful which create a
vicious circle.
An option to turn these threats into opportunities could be to manage to set up agreements with
smaller shoe manufacturers. The manufacturers activity would be sustain by producing some on
order shoes while the independent retails would benefit from both higher margins and better
opportunity to differentiate the offer.
However, in order to be successful, this project requires advanced shoes development and design
knowledge and strong trust relationships between the entities.

The shoe industry seems to regain some stability after the dim past years of recession. The industry
is a mature market undergoing some crucial changes that players need to consider carefully. On one
hand, players who miss the online transition may certainly loose market shares. On the other hand,
players who manage to rethink the way they operate and to redefine a consistent corporate identity

Non Aboriginal People In Canada
During the first half of the 20th century the western countries experienced what was called the
Great War, commonly known today as the First World War (WWI). There were 330,000 men and
women that served (WWI) for Canada, some of whose experiences were very diverse. Aboriginal
men who served in the war suffered great inequality because of racism.
Aboriginal people living in Canada were recruited to fight in WWI for a variety of reasons.
Although some of these reasons for recruitment were different than non aboriginal people. If you
were non Aboriginal you would be able to join the war if you were an adult Canadian citizen.
However if you were Aboriginal you couldn t join even if you meet these requirements due to the
racism against Aboriginals.

The overall attitude towards growth for Domino s Pizza is to grow and become the largest, fastest,

implementing and executing an array of growth strategies.
The first strategy that Domino s executes on is concentration strategy. This strategy consists of a
basic principle in which a business or company does one thing and does this one task very well.
There are three sub strategies underneath the concentration strategy and the first one is known as
product development. The product development strategy means that a company sells a new
product in the same market. Domino s is using the product development strategy by selling new
types of pizza, the thin crust and deep dish, along with the pasta bowls, chicken wings, and deserts

Essay On The Death Penalty
The death penalty plays a controversial role in modern society. Many arguments against the death
penalty are raised to question whether it is biased against race or violates the constitution. Reuben
Greenberg, the first black police chief involved in innovative criminology and author of the article
Race, the Criminal Justice System, and Community Oriented Policing, openly shares his opinion on
how race does not affect the death penalty. Reuben Greenberg also proves false accusations of the
death penalty wrong. Jack Greenberg, American attorney and author of Against the American
System of Capital Punishment, disagrees with Reuben Greenberg s statement, and claims that race
does hold a high position within the death penalty. Aside from... Show more content on

Along with this, Reuben Greenberg believes that you have to look past a person s skin color and
judge them on their crime, not their looks. Haag agrees with Reuben Greenberg s statement on how
people shouldn t judge someone just because of their race.
The subject of race can become very biased, and many people feel as if the justice system can be
racist towards minorities. In my opinion, race should not play a role in death penalty. Although
there are still many racist people in the world, crimes should be prosecuted based on the crime
committed, regardless of the person s race. Many white people are on death row currently for the
same crimes a minority might commit. In the world today, many controversial events have
happened dealing with race along with the justice system. For example, there have been multiple
incidents where a white officer has been charged with shooting a black person. It is thought that
if a white judge is sentencing a minority, the odds of the minority getting put on death row would
be in favor. A judge must have an opinion when it comes to sentencing a criminal, but it does not
always have to be the race card . The severity of the crime should be the real reason as to why a
person would be put on death row, not their skin color. If a minority commits a crime worthy of the
death sentence, the judge has the right to sentence that upon him, regardless of looking at his skin.

condom use, skill and self efficacy in using condoms, beliefs about negative consequences of
condoms for sexual enjoyment, and skill and self efficacy in negotiating condom use. It includes
themes that encourage adolescents to be proud of themselves, their family, and their community; to

  • 2. Analysis Of The Book The Necklace The necklace She removed the wraps which covered her shoulders before the glass, so as once more to see herself in all her glory. But suddenly she uttered a cry. She no longer had the necklace around her neck! Her husband, already half undressed, demanded: What is the matter with you? She turned madly toward him: I have I have I ve lost Mme. Forestier s necklace. He stood up, distracted. What! how? impossible! And they looked in the folds of her dress, in the folds of her cloak, in her pockets, everywhere. They did not find it. After a sleepless night, her husband decided to tell Mme. Forestier the truth. But She did not agree with him. She is a vain person, and she worried that when Mme. Forestier know it will spread everywhere. She did not want anybody know that the glory of her success in the ball was not belong to her. Then they went from jeweler to jeweler with the box which had contained the necklace, trying to find if there is any possible they can find a necklace which look like the same as the one they lost. • 3. Gran Torino Psychology I enjoyed your post Lori, Philadelphia is a great movie. Like you, I have already watched quite a few on the list. As per our instructions I will compare the attitudes, beliefs, understandings, and acculturative experiences inherent in Philadelphia (1993) and Gran Torino (2008). In Gran Torino (2008) the main character, is a Korean War Veteran and has an obvious bias towards those of Asian descent. He also harbors guilt from killing a Korean soldier who had surrendered while in Korea. His neighbors are of Asian descent and he catches the son trying to steal his car and because of that his family makes the son do work for him as penance. Due to the Korean and Vietnam wars, Asians had faced discrimination and racial slurs, this film portrayed that no differently. The Asian culture are closely connected to their family and often many generations reside together or very... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The movie portrays a lawyer who was fired on the suspicion of having AIDS, and homophobia associated with AIDS was very true to real life. Per The New York Times (1999) in 1993 doctors had found several strains of HIV that were resistant to the newest drugs and any possibility of a vaccine had not been reached. For the LGBTQ community, not only were they struggling for heterosexual rights, they were also bearing the weight of the AIDS epidemic. Additionally, LGBTQ s feared being open about their sexual orientation even more so during the early 1990 s (NYT, 1999). Legislation in the form of The Hate Crimes Sentencing Enhancement Act became a law in 1993 in the same year as Philadelphia as noted by the Human Rights Campaign (2017). LBGTQI are likely to suffer from suicidal ideation and depression because of discrimination and oppression (Hays and Erford, 2014). In my opinion, both films show how Asians and LBGTQI have had to deal with acculturation and inequality from two different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Green and Troup articulate that from the 1960 s on, oral history became known as unreliable and tainted by personal subjectivity. However, at the same time, oral history saw a revival with the arrival of New History. Green and Troup articulate, history from bellow embraced oral history as a means for rewriting history from the perspective of the marginalized or oppressed. This opens up the discussion of individual agency. Which is more important in terms of oral histories, the agency of the subject or the interviewer? 2.In Anna Green and Katherine Troup s Houses of History, 1970 s historian Ron Grele suggested that historians needed to understand ... • 5. Loneliness And Pain With A Drizzle Of Mixed Emotions About... Heartache and pain with a drizzle of mixed emotions about life as an independent woman is what Kate Chopin was confronted with and it is what she wrote about in her short stories. We are talking about a woman before her time that challenged all to see the world through representations of reality. She was able to see the world for what it was during a difficult timefor people of color and women battling to have equal rights. Repeatedly, she wrote about death, exotic thoughts, superficial love and real life issues however, the stories she wrote often portrayed some form of the life events and struggles that she in fact faced herself. As a young girl Kate was exposed to, and witnessed many events that helped to influence her unique writing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But I know it isn t true. I know he says that to please me. And mamma, she added drawing on her mother s head down to her, and whispers he hasn t punished one of them not one of them since the baby was born (pg. 422 423 American Literature.) In comparison this relates to Kate s real life events with the region in which she lived, the social class of her real life husband and slavery. When Kate was nineteen she married Oscar Chopin whom was a successful cotton broker, and over the next ten years she and Oscar had children and this seemed to have brought joy to Kate and Oscar s life. (pg. 420 American Literature) This seems to be a similar story line in both Desiree and Kate s life. They both met and married a successful man, they both lived in Louisiana, have a child or children and seem to be happy. Even though Kate s and Desiree s story seem to take a different turn of events for a moment in time there are items that need to be brought to light. Kate brings the area of Louisiana to life when she describes the the sad looking place, which had not known the gentle presence of a women and how the steep roof came down and looked like a cowl. Big, solemn oaks that grew close to the house that shadowed the home like a pall (pg. 422 American Literature) Kate witnessed this area in great detail and she was able to make this portion of the story so believable that while reading this section, the vision is brought to life. • 6. Iliopsoa Research Paper The iliopsoas is actually two muscles, the psoas major and the iliacus. They originate in different areas, but come together to form a tendon, hence why they are commonly referred to as one muscle. Unlike many of the anterior thigh muscles, the iliopsoas does not extend the leg at the knee joint. The psoas major originates from the lumbar vertebrae, and the iliacus originates from the iliac fossa of the pelvis. They insert together onto the lesser trochanter of the femur. The iliopsoas flexes the lower limb at the hip joint and assists in lateral rotation at the hip joint. The psoas major is innervated by anterior rami of L1 3, while the iliacus is innervated by the femoral nerve. The quadriceps femoris consists of four individual muscles; three... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The quadriceps femoris is the main extensor of the knee. This muscle also influences our form in many other types of movement, depending on how weak or how tight this group of muscles may be.Because the iliopsoas muscles work when you lift your leg toward your torso, the lying leg raise is an example of how you can strengthen the iliopsoas. Perform this exercise with or without weights. To begin, lie on your back with your legs extended.Tight iliopsoas muscles are associated with lower back discomfort because the muscles pull on the pelvis and affect range of motion in the lower back. After you work to strengthen the iliopsoas muscles, stretch them to minimize muscle tension. The iliacus originates in the iliac fossa of the pelvis. The psoas major unites with the iliacus at the level of the inguinal ligament and crosses the hip joint to insert on the lesser trochanter of the femur. The iliopsoas is involved in flexion and lateral rotation (supination) of the thigh. The psoas is a deep seated core muscle connecting the lumbar vertebrae to the femur. • 7. Contract Law Vs. Kent Case Contract law has set out to provide a healthy trade environment. Contracts are promises enforced by the law, with the support of something of value that has a legal purpose. It is an agreement between parties, formed by the elements: offer and acceptance, with all parties having the capacity to perform obligations enforceable by law. There are instances where the enforcement of a contract would bring about gains or losses to society and commerce. In the Jacob Youngs, Incorporated vs. George E. Kent case, Jacob Youngs, the plaintiff, claims that there was a breach of a clause in the contract with the defendant, George E. Kent. The clause stated that any work that is either defective or not in accordance with specifications will be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the replacement of the piping would have resulted in the wasting away of materials that went into the construction of the house. To the courts, and in my view, this would not have been the best allocation of resources in society as the time, and labour that went into the development would be sunk. The relief that the plaintiff obtains the remaining balance for building the house promotes society s well being so that honest mistakes, as long as their costs are not substantially great, are forgiven and that unconscionable judgments are not made. The Osprey LLC vs. Kelly Moore Paint Co case primarily deals with the use of language in a contract. The defendant, Kelly Moore, leased commercial property from Osprey, the plaintiff, under a fifteen year contract with two five year renewal options. The clause in the contract stated that notice of the renewal of the lease shall be given in writing and may be delivered either personally or by depositing the same in the United States mail... Kelly Moore faxed the second renewal to Osprey but Osprey claims to have never received it and sued Kelly Moore for breaching the contract. The court reasoned that the faxed delivery is sufficient enough to renew the lease. Justice Kauger delivered the majority opinion that examined the elements of this binding agreement. In this examination, the court used a two step analysis to determine whether it would be fair to rule ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I woke up on the sunny morning of May 2, 2013 I had no clue that hip hop, in my eyes, would change forever. But that s exactly what happened when I hopped in my car, plugged in my iPod, rolled the windows down and turned the volume just past blaring as Even better than I was the last time... poured through my speakers. For a lot of reason s Chance the Rapper s critically acclaimed mixtape Acid Rap morphed the rap genre for me: No longer do rhymes have to be structured and/or neat. Beats don t have to bang. And it really is okay for hip hop, which has long been a tough guys genre, to be eccentric. Plainly put, Acid Rap was outside the box. Out of my comfort zone. Plus it acted as a flood gate opening wide and unleashing a unending hoard of pent up talent from Chicago into the realms of legitimacy on the national scene. The movement couldn t have happened at a better time, either, as the popular drill movement had seemingly taken a strangle hold on the bloody streets of Chi raq. One of those talents A barely 19 year old Tahj Chandler, aka Saba from the West Side collective PivotGang, has had my attention ever since he spit the multifaceted lines above. • 9. RIP A Remix Manifesto RIP: A Remix Manifesto offers a convincing case for copyright reform raising the issues about the viscous control on the ownership of intellectual property against the free access to share ideas. Gaylor (2008) is passionate about the ridiculous copyright laws and their ongoing restrictive modifications in the USA that are demolishing the creativity of new ideas and innovations that these copyrightlaws were originally meant to protect. Gaylor (2008) uses his favourite artist Girl Talk who samples and remixes music, to centre his documentary in an effort to defend the public domain and its ability to share free idea, along with the use of the remixer s manifesto Number 1. Culture always builds on the past. Number 2. The past always tries to control the future. Number 3. Our future is becoming less free. Number 4. To build free societies you must limit the control of the past. The first point made in the remixers manifesto involves Gaylor (2008) exploring the history of artists who have used the creativity of the past for the inspiration of their new idea; including Walt Disney and Metallica who has borrowed previously made song structures from musicians both have now become harsh advocates for the current copyright laws. In keeping with Gaylor s (2008) style, the remaining remix manifesto points will become a guideline for the remaining essay along with the issues and case study that will be represented on the poster. • 10. How Samuel Adams Set a Brush Fire in the Minds of the People It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people s minds. This is a quote from Samuel Adams. He truly lived his life according to this statement. Adams spent his life as part of the irate, tireless minority, and as he would put it, he set many brush fires in people s minds. As the leader of the Sons of Liberty, a patriotic rebel group, he convinced many people to stand against British rule. He knew that he did not need as many people as the British; he just needed a group of bold and risky people to stand firm in their beliefs. Born on September 27, 1722 to Samuel and Mary Adams in Boston, Massachusetts, Samuel Adams had a promising future. His family was wealthy and respected church members. As a teenager, he attended Boston Latin School and Harvard. At one point, his family lost much of their money and Adams had to work as a waiter. This helped him better understand the less wealthy people in Boston. He knew how high taxes could affect the income of an average family. This could have inspired him to become a patriotic leader, instead of the church leader that his father wanted him to be. Even though Adams was not a deacon or minister, he still held on to his Puritan beliefs he was raised with. Adams tried to be a businessman in his early life, but quickly found that business was not his talent. In 1765, he was elected to the Massachusetts Assembly, where he served as a clerk for seven ... • 11. The Ultimate Fighting Championship The Ultimate Fighting Championship The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is recognized as one of the fastest rising sports in America today. In a matter of two short years, it has gone from an underground spectacle with evolving rules and standards to a recognized sport with a mass fan following comparable in number to professional wrestling in the В‘80s and В‘90s. The demand the sport has on a fighter s body and the endless time devoted to training that a fighter must endure have solidified the UFC s place as a serious contender for the newest, world recognized sport. The excitement and electricity felt by fans viewing the fight live and by those at home make the UFC, in my opinion, the best sport in the United States today.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Set aside the physical demands of conditioning, a fight lasts as short as a one punch knock out to the full fifteen to twenty minute battle. Twenty minutes of being punched in the face, kicked in the ribs legs and face, getting body slammed onto the wooden mat, and being choked until submission or loss of consciousness would toughen a human far more than the toll a body takes in any other sport. Another factor that is somewhat overlooked is the effect fans have on a sport and its events. With a truly passionate group of fans, a sport can really excel. The quick growth of the UFC fan base may cause the opposition to question the true loyalty and passion of the fans of the UFC. Just watching an event live, however, you can really see the intrigue and energy in the building. And if the sport pulls you in, you may feel the energy yourself. One reason for this energy is the sheer excitement of a fight. Another reason, and possibly the reason for the excitement, is the complexity of the sport of MMA. At first glance of an uninformed eye, the UFC literally looks like an unorganized street fight in an octagon shaped cage. Upon spending a small amount of time openly watching a single fight, one will begin to recognize the commonly referred chess like precision of a fight. This is possibly the most important reason I feel this sport is at the top of all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Back then, Malaysia lagged behind Haiti in per capita income but since then it has grown an average of 7 percent annually and would rank third in per capita wealth in the Western Hemisphere. The concept functions in fact as an umbrella for different alternative views, suggesting that these go together. Tillie Olsen s story Tell Me A Riddle can be compared to DH Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner with similarities in theme. Both Olsen and Lawrence focus on the theme of neglect and abandonmentdriven by the lack of attention the eldest children receive from their mothers. However Olsen addresses this theme through symbolism whereas Lawrence uses personification. The new idea that is revealed about neglect and abandonment through the analysis is that it can be both intentional and unintentional and can be interpreted differently by different characters. In both Tell Me A Riddle and The Rocking Horse Winner Olsen and Lawrence use the theme of neglect and abandonment to describe the relationship between the eldest children in the story and their mothers. For example in Tell Me A Riddle Emily feels abandoned by her motherafter the birth of her sister. This is because her mother could no longer care for Emily which led her to send Emily to the convasalent home. It states I used to try to hold and love her after she came back, but her body would stay stiff, and after a while she would push away (Olsen,4). At this point Emily is separated from her family for eight months, not being able to hold on to personal belongings that remind and connect her to them. Emily feelings of abandonment is evident here as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Importance Of The Vedic Ritual On one hand, Brian Smith provides the definition that Vedic rituals refer to the rituals of the Vedic religion and later Hinduism surrounding the concept of Veda , which is defined as thought by some to merely signify a Hindu notion of absolute truth or truth in a general sense (Smith, 1989, p. 2). On the other hand, later in his book he refers to Marcel Mauss definition of magic ( Magic gives every outward appearance of being a gigantic variation of on the theme of causality...it s exclusive aim is to produce results (Smith, 1989, p. 36)), and from this he claims that from the definition the Vedic ritual can alternatively be called magic or a kind of science (Smith, 1989, p. 36). Jamison and Witzel argue that The central importance of elaborate ritual activity throughout the Vedic periodcannot be overemphasized. However, it is also important to remember that our views of Vedic ritual are somewhat distorted by the chronology of the text types that concern the ritual. It is only at the very end of the Vedic period, in the Ељrauta SЕ«tras, that we have straightforward, detailed descriptions of ritual (Jamison Witzel, 1992, p. 29). In consequence, the meanings concerned in the practice of Vedic rituals may be overexaggerated by researchers due to the lack of understanding of the texts written about Vedic rituals. Interestingly though, throughout hundreds of years, the Vedic rites became more complicated and had developed countless rules that were entwined with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Analysis Of Hey There Delilah Confessing Love Through Song The purpose of this paper is to analyze the song Hey There Delilah by the Plain White T s. This paper will identify the message and tone of the song, as well as the artist s appeal to the audience by analyzing the organization of the song, and the specific rhetorical strategies the artist used to connect to the audience. The song s organization, style, figurative language, and hyperboles in the lyrics will also be analyzed to connect the artist s intention back to the audience. In this song, the artist s main point and thesis, is that he is head over heels in lovewith a girl named Delilah. He wants to tell the world, and Delilah herself, how much he loves her, and how their love conquers the distance between them. This song was released in May 2006 in the United states, with the intended audience being people ranging in age from middle school age to college age. He chose this range in age to connect to a broad amount of people, with the general assumption that they would be familiar with what love is, or have experienced it themselves. The artist wants the audience to feel his substantial affection for Delilah, and how it is unchanging even though they are separated by distance. He appeals to the audience s emotions of admiration, compassion, and longing for another person. The artist does this by singing about his extensive love for Delilah, which may lead people to think of someone they themselves care deeply about, or an example of love in their life. The artist chooses an upbeat and happy tempo that repeats throughout the song. He chooses this repeating tempo to draw the listener s attention to the lyrics of the song. The slow, yet happy tempo paired with the artists bright and cheery voice creates a sense of ease and happiness within the song itself, and the audience. In this song, for the majority of the time the artist is confessing and explaining his love for Delilah to the world, and Delilah herself. He does this by telling the audience exactly what he is thinking, however, he does use imagery on occasion to accentuate his point. For example, the artist uses the simile Times Square can t shine as bright as you, to compare Delilah s radiance to the lights of New ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Analysis Of Tim O Brien s Going After The Paul in Wonderland: Reality vs. Fantasy in Tim O Brien s Going After Cacciato On the surface, Tim O Brien s 1978 novel Going After Cacciato seems like a typical telling of the Vietnam War from the perspective of one of the soldiers as the Third Squad searches for Cacciato, a soldier who has gone AWOL. However, a closer reading would reveal that the vast majority of the novel does not actually take place in reality. This search for Cacciato is a fantasy which takes place in Paul Berlin s head, and the scenarios and even the Vietnamese people who aid the Third Squad are completely fictitious. Only in a handful of chapters does the novel take place in reality, and even fewer of these chapters takes place in one which is permanent. Reading the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The terminology parts unknown is frequently used in fairy tales and other stories in the genre of fantasy, especially as a representation of a good place. The fact that they are currently fighting a war in Vietnam, along with knowledge that Vietnam was once a colony of France, juxtaposes Paris with the term parts unknown , as Paris can be seen similarly to the soldiers fighting the war as the Emerald City is seen in any of the books in the Oz series. The other chapter that takes place on the battlefield in a permanent reality is chapter 46, the last chapter of the novel. One noticeable comparison between this chapter and the first chapter is that they both share the same name: Going After Cacciato . This shows that they are both parts of the same scene, where Doc tells Corson the news about Cacciato going AWOL. In this regard, the novel seems to have finally come around full circle as Paul Berlin fully reenters reality after the fantasy of the Third Squad chasing Cacciato across multiple continents. The beginning of the novel has become the end. This is even supported by a summary which occurs early in this chapter. Her smile when she first saw the...of refuge. Such a fine idea. (325). Sources of Air Pollution in Sidney Motor vehicle emissions remain the highest source of air pollution in Australian major cities with Sydney holding the record for the worst air quality in Australia. Although Sydney has comparatively better levels of air quality compared to other major cities in the world, air pollution is still a major environmental and health issue. The NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change have put the cost of this issue to human health at more than $4.7 billion each year in the greater metropolitan area. Health experts have also estimated that air pollution cause up to 1400 deaths per year in Sydney alone, and up to 2000 hospital admissions for respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses. In a 2004 statement by the CSIRO, the mortality rate due to air pollution in Australia (approximately 2,400 deaths each year at the time) was higher than the road toll (approximately 1,700 deaths each year at the time), and these estimates have only risen in recent years as medical science gains a better understanding of the link between air pollution, health problems, and the significant cost to our economy. The cause of this pollution can be put down to Sydney s ever growing vehicle numbers. According to the NSW Government s 2009 State of The Environment Report, vehicle ownership growth now outstrips the population growth as each household is now estimated to own 1.49 cars and take 16.3 million car trips totalling 132 million kilometres daily. • 40. The Evil Character Of Iago Evil has been portrayed throughout time in many ways. In Christian theology, it has been shown through the character of Satan and his various sins. In Stephen King novels, it is portrayed through the imagery provided by monsters and humans with cruel intentions. All these characters, though different in many ways, all hold a similar trait, that they are aware of the evil nature and how they represent a different nature to seem a certain way to others. They may portray themselves as kind, caring, and honest when they are in fact, quite the opposite; cruel, dishonest and malevolent. They also all have the power to be destructive, even if they do not have a direct reason to, only their own desire to do so. While good is self producing and improving, evil is self destructive and can only create evil. Iago, as an evil character, holds many similarities to other wicked figures, and is sometimes seen as a satan like figure. Shakespeare uses the character of Iago to display the different forms evil can take on such as being hidden behind false intentions, turning into an image of good, and its destructive nature resulting into its own end. In the beginning of the play, Iago is seen by other characters as a wholesome character, often called Honest Iago due to his seemingly kind nature, though it is merely a mask his wickedness is hidden behind. (United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, 2005). Women living at the beginning and middle points of the village have to trek for a considerable distance to reach the stream, when compared to those who live at the bottom of the village near the stream. Women are the primary stakeholders in the fight for clean water as sources such as many rivers and wells are contaminated as they bear the burden and lack the freedoms that are necessary to ensure equality not inequality. Women in India have limited access to resources and the ability to express in the public sphere, which creates division of bearing the burden of responsibilities in the fight against the shortage of water. In many rural areas in India, women have to walk a distance of about 2.5 kilometers to reach up to the source of water. But if you go for walks for no other reason than you enjoy it, the activity becomes leisure. In this essay, I will be looking closely at leisure activities from both the ancient world, and the modern one, and discussing how social status impacted on the way people experienced leisure. I will start by discussing leisure amongst the Romans, giving brief examples of what they did for leisure, then moving on to talk about if, or how, social status amongst them affected their experience of it.
