Rapid adoption of new technologies and improved rural infrastructure induced productivity growth.
The government spending on productivity enhancing investments (especially agricultural research and
extension), rural infrastructure (especially roads and education), and rural development targeted
directly to the rural poor, all contribute to the growth in agricultural productivity. Avila and Evenson
(2004) have utilized FAO published data on cropland, pastureland, labour used in agriculture,
fertilizer, seeds, tractors and combine harvesters and animal stocks for measuring the changes in TFP
for crop production, livestock production and aggregate agricultural production for two periods, 1961
1980 and 1981 2001. Owing to the limitation of data on factor shares, the TFP growth rates seem to be
on a higher side. Modern varieties of the Green Revolution increase in the education level of labour
force, and increases in dietary energy have been reported as sources of TFP growth in the paper.
Modern varieties contributed maximum (64%) to TFP growth, followed by Schooling (22 %) and
nutrition (14 %). Birthal et al. (1999) have analyzed the trend in TFP for the livestock sector in India.
The livestock output grew at the rate of 2.6 per cent per year over the period 1950 51 to 1995 96. The
input index increased by 1.8 per cent per year and the TFP grew at about 0.8 per cent, implying that
technical change contributed about 30 per cent to the overall growth over the past 45

Kaaholawe Essay
During World War 2, Kahoʻolawe was used as a training ground and bombing range by the Army.
After decades of protests, the U.S Navy ended live fire training exercises on Kahoʻolawe in 1990, and
the whole island was transferred to the jurisdiction of the State of Hawaii in 1994. The KIRC(Kaho
olawe Island Reserve Commission) is now taking care of Kaho olawe and its island.Sometime around
the year 1000, Kahoʻolawe was settled by Polynesians, and small, temporary fishing communities
were established along the coast. While it is not known how many people inhabited Kahoʻolawe, the
lack of freshwater, probably limited the population to a few hundred people. Also, Kahoʻolawe
became a men s penal colony sometime around 1830. Food and water were scarce, ... Show more

President Dwight D. Eisenhower transfers title of Kaho olawe to the U.S. Navy with the provision that
it be returned in a condition for suitable habitation when no longer needed by the military. The influx
of traders, missionaries and ranchers to the Hawaiian Islands brought diseases to the native
population, which shrunk from 300,000 at the time of Cook s arrival to 50,000 a century later. Also,
overgrazing by imported cattle, sheep and goats did similar damage to the land of Kaho`olawe,
stripping native vegetation and causing soil erosion and runoff, which in turn damaged the ancient
fishing spots and the marine ecosystem. The day after Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, with
Hawai`i still an American territory, the Navy declared martial law on Kaho`olawe in order to use the
entire island for military activities. Ranchers and other residents were forced off the island for good.
The cleanup was laborious it did not even begin until 1999 because of extensive problems in finding

The Greensburg Tornado Essay
On May 4, 2007, the town of Greensburg, Kansas was devastated by an exceptionally strong tornado.
With maximum winds estimated to be in excess of 205 miles per hour, and leaving a damage path as
wide as 1.7 miles, the storm would go on to be rated a rare EF5, the first recorded in the United States
since 1999. When the storm finally subsided, 95 percent of Greensburg had been destroyed, killing
eleven people.
h3 The Setup /h3
May 4 began in much the same way as many other spring days in the Great Plains. Cool, dry air from
the north clashed with warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico, creating the sort of unstable
atmosphere that is so common to Tornado Alley. An intense low pressure system moved in and stalled
over the area ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the evening of May 4, atmospheric conditions made it possible for a number of these supercells to
sustain themselves for long distances, spawning twisters in cycles across their path.
h3 The Greensburg Tornado /h3
After prompting several warnings across the area, storm chaser groups reported that a particularly
violent supercell had spawned a funnel just southwest of Greensburg at 9:20 p.m. By 9:38 p.m., the
storm had grown to a half mile wide wedge as it approached the town, with several satellite vortices
observed rotating around the main vortex. At 9:41 p.m., the National Weather Service station located
in Dodge City, Kan. issued an emergency statement for the town of Greensburg, indicating the
extreme peril of the situation.
Shortly after the emergency statement was issued, the storm entered the town near its peak strength.
The twister stayed on the ground for a total of 22 miles, passing entirely through Greensburg and
leaving 95 percent of the city destroyed, with the remaining five percent significantly damaged.
Damage surveys done after the storm found areas in which significant damage extended well in excess
of a mile in width. Maximum wind speeds were estimated at 205 miles per hour, though the extent and
degree of damage don t rule out a significantly higher wind speed.
The Greensburg storm was unique for several reasons. In addition to its ferocious intensity, the
structure of the storm as recorded by storm chasers and weather

Leadership And Effective Leadership For Learning
Schools must meet the challenges of a changing educational climate and effective leadership is crucial
in helping to guide the whole school community through the potentially treacherous waters of change.
This assignment will delve into the complexity of leadership and will emphasize that whilst leaders
can attempt to create conditions to help schools improve, they are not solely responsible for the
outcome of the education process. Fullan (2001) posits that effective school leadership has the ability
to manage educational change by building strong relationships and establishing a moral purpose.
Therefore, the school leader has the orchestral role of subtly creating the conditions necessary for
pupils and staff to thrive. This assignment will focus primarily on three of the preconditions for
effective Leadership for Learning, mentioned with the assignment title: the role of shared leadership,
explicit conversations and the creation of settings, mindsets, and strategies conducive to learning. The
writer feels, that effective leaders can transform the idea of mutual accountability into moral
accountability . Therefore this section can be interwoven within each of these three strands of
Leadership for Learning mentioned; in a sense mutual or moral accountability could be interpreted as
a by product of effective leadership.
Shared leadership.
Build structures and cultures that invite and sustain participation in leadership, encourages all
members of the school community to

Beltway Sniper Case Study Answers
Beltway Sniper
The Beltway Sniper case included two men John Muhammad, and Lee Malvo whom carried out
attacks killing 10 people and wounding several other people. All of these attacks were carried out by
using a high powered .223 caliber rifle. The ballistics processing was especially important because the
use of firearm was the weapon that killed 10 innocent people, and wounded several others. This case
was cracked because one of the suspects called police and mentioned they were responsible for a
murder that took place in Montgomery Alabama outside a liquor store. The investigators that were
working on that case found a magazine left at the crime scene, and they compared the fingerprints left
on it to fingerprints of Malvo s immigration record. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An investigation involving a firearm is a specialty of forensic science which focuses on the
examination of firearms linked to ballistics. Ballistics is related to finding out the exact flight path of
projectiles. Ballistics is the area of study that examines the exact path of the bullet from the moment it
leaves the muzzle of the firearm up until it hits the target. During examination many items are
collected for evidence including the firearm, bullets, live ammunition, cartridge casings, trace
materials such as powder residue, and anything damaged by the projectile. Firearms are often divided
into three processes: Internal, External, and Terminal Ballistics. Internal refers to the inside of the
firearm; the space of time in which the shooter pulls the trigger, and the when the bullet is exiting.
External ballistics is the flight between leaving the muzzle of the firearm, and it striking its target.
Terminal ballistics is the impact of ballistics that refers to the examination in which the projectile
strikes a target. All firearms leave markings on the cartridge casings once expelled when firing.
Ballistic identification and microstamping laws make it possible to link a cartridge recovered to the

while still making the protagonist you are playing as feel like a total badass. Bungie studios, who were
originally partnered with Take Two Interactive studios, which developed the top down actioner Grand
Theft Auto series, created this masterpiece of a game in the late 1990s, after numerous trial and errors
of what they wanted to do. The original Halo game was supposed to be released for the Macintosh OS

Microsoft Studios. Impressed, Microsoft then decided to invest in Bungie studios and buy them out to
create the series and bring it over to the PC, even though it instead made its way to the iconic Xbox

Helping Athletes to Perform Better under Pressure
With it being known that pressure on an athlete to not let their team down increases anxiety, Otten and
Barrett (2013) decided to look at which aspect of baseball (pitching or batting) would be most prone to
choking. They looked over archives from the Baseball Reference website which includes statistics
from the last 109 years. Hitting, pitching, and team level statistics were all operationally defined and
then examined. They found that pitching statistics were significantly correlated from regular season to
post season while batting averages showed the smallest bivariate correlation. This could be due to the
fact that batting is a more complex skill so the athlete is more critical of it during the high pressure
that exists in the post season. With a preperformance routine before the individual task of hitting, the
athlete could decrease overanalyzing of the skill and prevent choking due to pressure. With past
research exhibiting that pre performance routines can improve performance and reduce choking
during high pressure situations such as post season games, Balk, Adriaanse, de Ridder and Evers
(2013) sought out how emotion regulation could be a major factor in the reason why. They looked at
the effectiveness of emotion regulation strategies in helping with choking. Experienced golfers self
reported arousal and anxiety during pressurized situations. Two aspects of emotion regulation,
reappraisal and distraction, were examined. Reappraisal and distraction were

Hamlet, the Melancholy One Essay
Hamlet, the Melancholy One
Shakespeare s tragedy Hamlet features the most famous protagonist in English literature Hamlet.
Inseparable from his character is the melancholy which permanently afflicted him. This essay
concerns itself with this aspect of Hamlet.
Harry Levin explains the choices open to the melancholy hero in the General Introduction to The
Riverside Shakespeare:
The explanation of Hamlet, What a piece of work is a man! (II.ii.303), carries an ironic reverberation.
His melancholy gaze looks up and down: skyward toward this brave o erhanging firmament and

The prince is dejected by the o erhasty marriage of his mother to his uncle less than two months after
the funeral of Hamlet s father (Gordon 128). There is a post coronation social gathering of the court,
where Claudius insincerely pays tribute to the memory of his deceased brother. Hamlet is present,
dressed in black, the color of mourning, for his deceased father. His first words say that Claudius is A

How Poetry Makes Nothing Happen
1. Introduction
W.H Auden famously wrote poetry makes nothing happen. Do you think this accurately describes the
political and social place of poetry in the twentieth century and/or the twenty first century? Explain
why you agree or disagree in the case of your chosen poet, justifying your answer with close reference
to your poet s work and its reception and interpretation.
This essay examines the effects that poetry has on society, both socially and politically. Poetry has
been around for centuries, and it is a common misconception that it serves no purpose. One critic in
particular, W.H Auden claimed, poetry makes nothing happen . However poetry awakens the reader s
eyes and gives an insight to the society in which we live in today, and which has been before us. As
evident in Ezra Pound s work, as he explored the use of imagism to critique modernism and twentieth
century, forcing the readers to think more about society as a whole. The purpose of this essay is to
show that poetry does make something happen and can have instrumental effects on society, whether it
is a poet critiquing society, or simply providing another interpretation. Poetry is a code than needs to
be cracked, it is a riddle that makes the reader bring out their true creativity, which is why I disagree
with W.H Auden in saying, poetry makes nothing happen.

dark as a woman and Roy chat happily. It is followed by light and then dark as Roy embraces the

how the entire plot is, that is, there are good moments for Roy with his love life and also moments of
uncertainty. The dark is followed by light when the movie takes us to the train in which Roy is

Compassion Fatigue In Nursing Research
The oxford dictionary defines caring in two ways. First, as displaying kindness and concern for others
. Second, as the work or practice of looking after those unable to care for themselves, especially on
account of age or illness . Based on these definitions caring can be seen as an integral part of nursing
practice. In fact in the article Applying the Ethics of Care to Your Nursing Practice Vicki D. Lachman
states that caring and nursing are so intertwined that nursing always appeared on the same page in a
Google search for the definition of caring (2012). Caring is demonstrated by actions, not just in kind

professionals. In this poll, nurses were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are just the effects on the nurse, but patients too feel the repercussions when they have a nurse
experiencing compassion fatigue. Compassion fatigue and burnout have been associated with
decreased patient satisfaction and even medication errors. As previously mentioned compassion
fatigue is common in nurses who have patients whose conditions do not improve. According to Dr.
Todaro Francheschi the most troubling thing for a great number of nurses... is to face death (p.85). A
second factor that can contribute to compassion fatigue and burn out is bullying in the workplace.
Bullying can come from peers as well as superordinates. A third factor is moral distress. Moral distress
happens when an individual wants to do the right thing but it is almost impossible to do so. Moral
distress can stem from limited resources or environments where nurses feel that they are not heard.
One example of moral distress, is the nurse that leaves work questioning whether or not she did
everything she possibly could for her patient due to limited resources. Other predictors of compassion
fatigue include, stress, age, mindfulness, apathy, and continuous exposure to

Zombie Apocalypse Effect
Zombie apocalypse films are traditionally set in a post cataclysmic event that has left world wide
destruction and change. The zombies are usually portrayed as cannibalistic monsters, who scavenge
the remaining earth looking for food. Possible causes for zombie behavior in a modern population can
be attributed to viruses, bacteria or other phenomena that reduce the mental capacity of humans
causing them to behave in a very primitive and destructive fashion. Humans have to survive and
prosper, with the mayhem of trying not to be eaten everyday, while trying to establish a sense of
government and order. This causes conflict between the protagonist and the zombies which is usually
resolved by finding a cure. These films, due to their complex storylines, interesting characters, and
possible world altering implications, have attracted large crowds at the theaters for many years.

to live on his life with his new group of friends or family. The last ending is co existence, zombies and
humans live separately and there is no conflict for the protagonist.
To conclude, zombie apocalypse films have captured audiences attention for many years and years to
come. Their exhilarating story lines, unique comedy, and respect for the world we

all follow the same foundation. The world could come to an end or humans can battle back and restore

Chief Walton Eager Case Study
Upon reviewing the required case study, the facts and concerns of the study are easily recognizable.
The first fact is that Chief Walton Eager experience before becoming chief was in the department he
currently runs (Cordner, 2016). Also, according to the reading he also apparently possesses some
people skills. Next, since receiving the appointment, he posts new policy and procedure on a bulletin

the Rixton Police Department use service style policing, and perform ethically and professionally.
However, there is a small number of officers that believe in aggressive law enforcement rather than
serving the public. Consequently, these set of facts listed in the case study present an enormous
amount of problems for the Rixton community.
Although Chief Eager is technically implementing new policies and procedures in the department, he
is failing to ensure that his officers understand (Cordner, 2016). The study does not refer Chief Eager

The Effects Of History And Social Structures On Our Lives...
Experiences play a vital role on who we are as a person, more importantly the memories that we ve
had as children stick with us for the rest of our lives. They help structure and model us into a person
that will eventually do extraordinary things that will affect others around us. In first world countries
most experiences as a child are generally the same for everyone because they live in a safe shielded
environment that protects them anything bad that could happen but, children growing up in third
world countries face horrible experiences that can cost them their lives but they believe is the norm.
Through my primary research I have discovered that history and social structures have had a great
impact on my personal life than ever imagined having to growing up in a third world country. After
developing my secondary research, the information I collected is proof of events that have ultimately
lead to factors of my development from an infant to who I am as a person today. Throughout my life
there were different historical events occurring at the time in my home country and my future country
that unfolded to shape and model my life to make me the person that I am today. I am able to identify
specific events that separately correspond to the process of coming to Canada before while residing in
my home country, during the immigration process to come here, and after arriving in Canada. In this

Difference Between Tocqueville And Marx
Tocqueville and Marx both argue for an egalitarian modern society, but their idea of equality of
modern social order differs, which leads to two distinctive conclusions, democracy for former and
communism for latter, which is adopted by different nations in the world. Both social theorists place
high importance in analysing the history of society to determine modern social order, but have
differing conceptions of history that leads to their contrasting views on the fundamental nature of the
capitalist society, and their distinct predictions for the future. This essay will examine Tocqueville s
and Marx s conceptions of history and through it, understand the nature of capitalist society, and
comprehend their predictions for an ideal modern state. Using their analysis, I shall argue that Marx s
prediction of the future is more compelling as compared to Tocqueville. Marx begins his analysis of
social order with the historical development of materialism that results in the industrial capitalist
society. For him, the history of society depends on the understanding of real process of ... Show more

expect anything from anybody (Tocqueville, 2006, p. 508). The chain that exists in aristocracy no
longer exists in democracy for individuals earn their own keep and does not need to rely on others.

Taking a Look at Title IX
Title IX was a law signed in to make sure than no one is excluded based on gender. When the law was
signed in, the numbers showed that it helped get women more involved in sports. However, with more
women involved in sports, men are still the favored gender and women are discriminated against.
Women are discriminated against in sports shown by fewer opportunities in high school and college
level sports, unequal treatment of women college athletes, and unfair opportunities and treatment to
women coaches. Title IX was signed in 1972 and states that No person in the United States shall, on
the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to
discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance
(Anderson). With the law being signed in, a 560% increase of participation at the college level and
990% increase at the high school level ( Title IX Myths and Facts ). This shows that women are
interested in getting involved and playing and participating in sports but the lack of opportunity kept
females from getting involved at both levels. Given the opportunity to tryout for a team or even play
recreationally, women jump at the chance. For a school to meet the requirement for equal opportunity
under Title IX it must have Proportionality. The college must provide athletic opportunities for female
students that are substantially proportionate to their enrollment. Program Expansion. The college

Human Relationships And The Social Psychological Theories...
Human relationships are the foundation of human life, they strongly influence other individual s
behaviour (Bercheid et al., 2000). There are different types of relationships such as co workers,
friendship, marriage which all involve a connection and therefore is an important characteristic of the
formation of human relationships (Salisch 1996). The purpose of this essay is to explore research
within human relationships and the relevant social psychological theories that have been linked with
this conflicting topic. The theories that will be discussed throughout this essay will be the attribution

breakdown of relationships. This would initially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To explain human relationships further, the social exchange theory can be another definite explanation
to help distinguish how we feel to be with other people and how one perceives to be with them, either
to rekindle their relationship or to question the decisions that make to be in a relationship (Kelley
1959). The social exchange theory can be defined as a term that allows behaviour to be exchanged to
allow a relationship between two people to happen (Huston et al., 2013). An individual social life
involves interactions between two people which can be viewed as social exchanges in terms of costs
and benefits (Nakagawa et al., 2013). By taking the view of human relationships the social exchange
theory argues that individuals engage in a cost benefit analysis which forms their relationship with
others (Milkie et al., 2004). When the costs and benefits are equal in a relationship, it is defined as
equitable (Siddiqui 2008). Moreover, romantic relationships may be difficult for some people as it
involves interpersonal skills in order to make them mutually satisfying therefore requires constant
maintenance. Recently, Psychologists have begun to look at the breakdown of relationships and the
characteristics which requires them to fail. The breakdown of relationship is a theory which explains
the failure of certain human relationships and the factors that may be involved such as lack

Biographical Sketch of Douglas McGregor
Douglas McGregor (1906 1964) is one of the forefathers of contemporary management thinking. A

Theory X and Theory Y
McGregor referred to the opposing motivational methods that he identified, as Theory X and Theory Y
management. Each assumes that the manager s role is to organize resources, including people, to best
benefit the company. However, beyond this commonality, they re quite dissimilar. While Theory X
represents the traditional view of management, Theory Y represents the newer attitudes in
organizational psychology.
This does not mean that all managers believe entirely in Theory X or Theory Y. Most managers
probably believe that people are a combination of both, with tendency to behave as one type.
Theory X and Theory Y tend to influence and get influenced by External and Internal Modifiers. This
can be understood better from the diagram given below.

Theory X Traditional View of Direction Control
Theory X is based on the assumptions that the average human beings dislike work, wishes to avoid
responsibility if at all possible. Therefore most people must be coerced, controlled to achievement of
organizational objectives. Theory X management style therefore requires close, firm supervision with
clearly specified tasks.
Essentially, Theory X assumes that the primary source of most employee motivation is monetary, with
security as a strong second. According to this theory employees will show little ambition without an

Compare And Contrast Africa And American Civilizations
The civilizations of America, Africa, and Europe each had their own political, economic, and religious
systems that changed drastically when people from each continent encountered one another. In the
Americas, the Native Americans had developed large and massive empires that would come to marvel
the world. In Africa, there were are also large empires, home to millions of people. Western Europe on
the other hand did not have any large empires or well organized societies. However, this would all
change when the Europeans came in contact with the people in the Americas and Africa. It would be
the Europeans that rose up while the other races fell. Before the Europeans arrived in the New World,
it was filled with wealth and resources. When the Spanish first explored the New World they returned
to Spain with strings of pearls and gold. The land was also full of Native Americans. The native
people in the Americas had created some of the greatest empires in the world. These empires spread
all across the New World especially in Mexico and Guatemala. These empires were home to over 60
million people. Most of these people lived in the great empires of the Aztecs and Incas, the two largest
empires at the time. Both of these empires housed more people than most European cities at the time.
The Aztecs had a diverse trade system that included tributes from the people to the leaders of the
empire. They required tribute to be payed to them, typically consisting of gold, textiles, and cacao.

Parallel Web Pages in English and Regional Languages
Language identification of written text in the domain of Latin script based languages is a well studied
research area. However, new challenges arise when it is applied to non Latin script based languages,
particularly for Asian languages web pages. Web page classification creates new research challenges
because of the noisy nature of the pages. It s no doubt that English has been the predominant language
for the World Wide Web since its inception and so it s usage is confined to a specific community of
people have a good grasp of the English language. The serviceability factors of the Internet have
proven to be beneficial to a highly educated society, because of the linguistic barrier. The solution to
this problem is to provide web pages in regional languages. Our aim is to provide web pages in pairs,
of Devanagari and English web pages if it exists. In order to provide parallel Web Pages in native
language Hindi or Marathi on the fly we require classification of web pages in Devanagari and

Drunk Driving And Driving
Throughout the United States, drunk driving is responsible for 28 deaths per day and nearly 10,000
deaths per year. In some states like Utah, there is a push to lower the legal intoxication limit from 0.08
BAC to 0.05 BAC. In Massachusetts, there is a push to get ignition interlock devices into cars to
prevent people that are under the influence of alcohol from getting behind the wheel. Combining these
two aspects to clamp down on drunk driving would be considered strict enforcement of laws. There
are many people that are in full support of this reduction and the use of the ignition interlock systems.
However, there are people that are trying to make a stand against these topics. Lowering the legal
intoxication limit and increasing the use of ignition interlock systems will create a safer environment
for society by saving lives, reducing crime, and increasing overall traffic safety.
Most consumers of alcohol are unaware to the effects of driving after ingesting alcohol into their
systems. Driving impaired is one of the top 10 leading causes of death in the United States. Thats due
to the driver being impaired. To be considered an ¨impaired driver¨, a person must have a blood
alcohol content of 0.08 or higher. Experts say that even at 0.08 BAC, drivers are too impaired to get
behind the wheel. The parts of the body that are affected the most by alcohol are cognitive
recognition, coordination, speech, and vision. With reduced recognition and coordination, blurred
vision, and

The Pros And Cons Of Gestational Surrogacy And Egg Donation
Gestational surrogacy and egg donation are largely unregulated in the United States because of the
way the issues were approached. To explain, because surrogacy and egg donations were seen as a
means for providing children to those who cannot have any of their own, the procedure was seen as
medicine. As it is seen as medicine, the cases were treated as individual agreements between the
patient and doctor. Because this was not an experimentation, there was no need for the procedure to go
through the IRB. Hence, no regulation. Furthermore, regulating surrogacy was on the state level and
many states did not outlaw it. In addition, because there was no public funding for surrogacy and egg
donation, it shifted over to the private sector. The US federal government allowed this to happen in
order to maintain reproductive/consumer rights. This shift made it much more common and
unregulated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Women Across The World Encounter Stereotypes
Women across the world encounter stereotypes. In the United States, our biggest stereotype has to do
with women s physical appearance, it is frowned upon to be overweight and to have curves. The
United States is seen as a modern country and the idea of a domestic household during the upraise of
the Feminist Movement during the 1960s 70s. That is the struggle that India is going through
currently. Instead of going with the wave of the new movement towards modernization, half of the
country is oppressing it and the other half is embracing it. The World Before Her is a documentary
over the two separate paths of two young women that are at the heart of the transitioning of their
country. One young woman has hopes to become a model and win the nationally known pageant Miss
India which is equivalent to Miss America. The second young woman is the exact opposite. She is
tomboyish, she will kill to keep her countries values as well as train other young girls to hold the same
values as she does. The documentary was made to target the eye of people like you and I, it is a prime
example of the best of both worlds. The people of India may benefit from seeing this film because it
shows how their country is struggling with the preservation of their culture but on the other hand,
Americans may feel offended because the Indians that are interviewed make it seem as though being
modern is a bad thing. Modernization is not a bad thing, without it, people will not be able to adapt to

Project Quality Project quality is concerned with two ultimate goals i.e. efficiency of processes
employed in the implementation of the project and ensuring the quality of the end product, So that the
product is fit for use and covers all the needs of user and its cost effectiveness. PMBOK recommends
suggests employing quality planning, assurance and control for quality implementation of the project.
In simple terms it is necessary to produce a quality product that the projects are being run with quality.
That is why experts of the fields believe that quality of project guarantees the quality of end product
(Windmüller, 2013). Agile Quality Control and Assurance Quality control is the method of
implementing the plans which are planned via quality assurance to demonstrate quality in a product.
In a traditional PM, managers would produce a quality plan first. While on the other hand Agile
manager are not bound to make such plans as the Agile process itself guarantees the quality control
and assurance. Agile creates a quality product by using a combination of a couple of practices i.e.
Agile Project Execution and Agile Project Monitoring and Control (Duncan, PEERCY,2012).
Customer Is A Team Member Agile team tries to build a product that meets the customer s intent
rather than the detailed description provided in the traditional methods, thus in the Agile PM customer
becomes one of the team guide and member.

Peter was one of the first twelve Disciples of Christ and was born, along with his brother Andrew, in a
small village called Bethsaida which is on the northern shore of Galilee, Israel. Both Peter and his
brother were fisherman by trade, most likely because of their father Jonah, who was also a fisherman.
The two brothers were both followers of John the Baptist s ministry, how exactly they came to follow

In Peter s first letter he urges his readers to repay evil with good, to love one another and to protect
their reputation as good citizens of high morality (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2013).
The second theme was to stay sharp (in regards to his word). His second letter contains a lot of
information on false prophets, and he goes on to say that in order to stand strong against their false
teachings, you need to seek after the true knowledge of god. He links this in with standing strong,
because the day Jesus returns is coming quickly.
The third is to live for Jesus. For over three years, Peter lived in close proximity with Jesus. This gave
Peter the best example of what it is like, to truly live in holiness in a hostile world. Therefore Peter
points his readers to the best example there is, Jesus himself. Peter tells his audience to sanctify Christ
as Lord in their hearts, that believers might live and act according to how Jesus desires during their
short time on earth (1 Peter 3:14 18) (Swindoll, 1979).

Effects Of Parental Investment On Children
Parental investment includes any investment by the parent in an individual offspring that increases the
offspring s chances of survival, at the cost of the parent s ability to invest in other offspring (Travier,
1972). Since investing on themselves is as important as investing on their children, parents have to
choose between caring for a child and acquiring the resources needed to insure their own productive
and reproductive successes (Turner McAndrew, 2006). This choice can be influenced by the social,
cultural and economic factors at household level, and by socio demographic factors at individual level.
These factors may vary from culture to culture and overtime. However, the following variables are the
most frequently cited determinants of parental investment on children.
i) Gender; the gender of the parent is the most widely reported determinant of parent`s willingness to
invest on children. This is mentioned across disciplines, from biology through social anthropology,
with similar conclusions but different explanations. There is consensus that the gender identity of the
parent through which income is received determines how the resources are invested on child welfare.
Studies (Agarwal, 1997; Kabeer, 2000) indicated that income injected into the household through the
mother do more justice to the welfare of children compared to resources injected through the father.
Similarly, an exogenous increase in mothers income has a larger effect on children`s outcomes than

P1 Explain The Concept Of An Unequal Society
P1: Explain the concept of an unequal society. In this part of the essay I will be explaining the concept
of an unequal society. I will do this by writing about the points that make an unequal society and
explain it in more depth. Social inequality is when there are unequal opportunities for diverse social
classes or status within the society. The groups that are disadvantaged usually become the subject of
prejudice. Prejudice means holding a set view or attitude about a certain group in society. The first
concept of an unequal society is labelling, labelling in simple words is described as when an
individual applies a specific characteristic that is usually negative to another individual or group and
ignoring the personality of people in the group. An example of labelling is calling a physically

Similarities Between The Inner And Outer Planets
Our solar system consists of one star and some debris, said Carl Sagan. There are many differences
and similarities between the Inner and Outer planets. Our solar system is comprised of the Sun being
in the middle, then followed by planets rotating it. The planets which orbit the Sun are Mercury,
Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The Inner planets are very different from
Outer planets and the Outer planets are completely different from Inner planets, but both are very
similar in many ways. Our planets in the solar system have many similarities and differences.
First of all, Inner planets are different from Outer planets in many ways. The surface of Inner planets
compared to Outer planets are rocky, Inner planets are denser, all the Inner planets are in the asteroid

nothing more than what there is. The surface of the Inner planets is very different from those of the
Outer planets because, Earth compared to Uranus is completely different due to Uranus being mostly
made out of gas. The Inner planets are also much denser than Outer planets. For example, Venus

Shepherd Of Hermas
The Shepherd of Hermas (sometimes called The Pastor or The Shepherd) is a Christian work of the
second century, considered a valuable book by many Christians, and occasionally considered
canonical by some of the early Church fathers. The reference to Clement of Rome suggests a date
between 88 and 97 for at least the first two visions. Since Paul sent greetings to Hermas, a Christian of
Rome (Romans 16:14), some have followed Origen s opinion that he was the author of this religious
romance. However, others set the date of composition in the 2nd century. The Shepherd had great
authority in the 2nd and 3rd centuries. It was cited as Scripture by Irenaeus and Tertullian and was
bound with the New Testament in the Codex Sinaiticus, and it was ... Show more content on

The fifth vision introduces the Angel of repentance in the guise of a shepherd, from whom the whole
work takes its name. He delivers to Hermas a series of precepts (mandata, entolai), which form an
interesting development of early Christian ethics. The eleventh mandate, on humility, is concerned
with false prophets who desire to occupy the first seats (that is to say, among the presbyters). Some
have seen here a reference to Marcion, who came to Rome c. AD 140 and desired to be admitted
among the priests (or possibly even to become bishop of Rome). After the mandates come ten
similitudes (parabolai) in the form of visions, which are explained by the angel. The longest of these
(Similitude 9) is an elaboration of the parable of the building of a tower, which had formed the matter
of the third vision. The tower is the Church, and the stones of which it is built are the faithful. But in
the third vision it looked as though only the holy are a part of the Church; in Similitude 9 it is clearly
pointed out that all the baptized are included, though they may be cast out for grave sins, and can be
readmitted only after penance. The Shepherd of Hermas uses many indirect citations from New
Testament. He shows acquaintance with the three Synoptic Gospels and the Gospel of John. He most
often refers to the Epistle of James and the Book of Revelation. He also uses Ephesians and other

Andrew Jackson A Hero
President Andrew Jackson, born on March 15, 1767, was a man of little formal education. Described
as a quick tempered bully, sensitive to criticism in his youth, his behaviors exuded a wild reputation.
Perhaps the most noteworthy event of Jackson s childhood, was the American Revolution. Orphaned
by the war, Jackson spouted a lifelong hatred toward the British. After spending all of his inheritance
on alcohol and gambling, Jackson decided the best way to make his fortune was by entering the legal
profession. Successful in his career as a prosecutor, Jackson was later elected a seat on the Tennessee
Superior Court, a position he served for six years.
In the textbooks, Andrew Jackson is known as a national war hero, a title he received after his victory
at New Orleans during the War of 1812. However, his military career began in 1802 when he won the
election as a general to the Tennessee state militia. Jackson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

His motivation for party organization was driven by his own issues with congress. Issues for the
Democratic Party included concern for the widening gap between social classes. Bankers and
merchants, for example, easily enhanced their wealth to the disadvantage of producers such as,
farmers, artisans, and laborers. They believed a hands off approach toward the economy would be fair
to the people rather than the government only favoring wealthy businessmen. Their ideas attracted
aspiring entrepreneurs and poorer farming regions in the Northwest and the South. The formation of
the Whig Party in 1834 was due to Jackson s controversial performance in office. Whigs supported the
American System believing that the federal should set a protective tariff in place, as well as a national
bank, and be responsible for internal improvements. The Whig Party appealed to those in the
Northeast, a rapidly evolving region filled with established businessmen and

Essay on The Tests for Market Efficiency
During the 20th century, academic financial economists extensively accepted the efficient market
hypothesis. Almost everyone was alleged that stock markets and securities market are highly efficient
in response to any new information in the market. It was argued that when information regarding
factors influencing market arises, the information spread like wild fire in the market and the prices of
stocks adjust accordingly without any delay. This means that neither the fundamental analysis related
to analysis of financial information of the company such as earnings, capital stock etc nor the
technical analysis related to the analysis of historical performance of the stocks of the company
enables the investor either experienced or not to get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some journal an interesting example related to the idea of random walk is that random walk is like a
blindfolded chimpanzee throwing darts at Wall Street and selects any portfolio which yields equal to
the portfolio selected by any expert. The idea of random walk is just like throwing a towel on the
stock of different category to formulate an appropriate portfolio at lower cost.
Most of the investors try to select the securities which are mis priced undervalued due to the reason
that in future price of these securities will increase and they are able to outperform the market. The
portfolio managers identify the securities which are able to outperform the market and they use variety
of different techniques to predict the performance of the securities and stock. The financial analysis
gives comparative advantage to the investors which results in substantial profits. The efficient market
hypothesis argues that any technique is not capable to generate excess due to dependable predictability
of stock and securities return. The efficient market hypothesis argues that it is very difficult to predict
the future stock return and also the predictions are not consistent. The important and main force
behind the price change is the arrival of new information. It is a presumption that market is efficient if
the price of stock change averagely without any bias in response to the new information in the market
without waiting for any other

The Role of Infrastructure in Information Assurance and Cyber Security
The attacks on critical infrastructure have become a growing cause of concern for governments and
private providers internationally whether caused through cybercriminals pursuing financial gain or by
hackers as political acts intended to emasculate governments and companies credibility. The anxiety
around these threats is vindicated, as research exhibits that attacks on the critical infrastructure are
greater than before in both complexity and prevalence and will endure to develop in the near future.
The site management and monitoring have progressed for critical infrastructure facilities as they have
become more increasingly connected to the internet. However, added convenience of connectivity has
turned once limited attack surface of these industries into a fertile landscape for cyber attacks. Due to
the potentially high profile impacts of attacks on critical infrastructure systems, these industries have
become even more attractive targets for cybercriminals (Cavelty, 2014).

Per use Costs (Variable Costs) are the single amounts that it costs each time we use specific resources.
What can be done to lower the budget and reduce the project s duration?
There are many things that we, Empire Island Convention Center, can do to lower costs to help bring
the bar of the budget lower. One way is to cut back in the human resource sector. We can assure that
all work is done within an eight hour day to reduce the costs of over time. Also, we can hire seasonal
or temporary workers to reduce our work force numbers.
As far as lowering the costs in regard to our Utility services, we can install light switches that are
motion sensored. Each unit (conference room) can have its on power source so that when rooms are
not in use, electricity is not overburdened.
Reducing the duration of the project may prove to be difficult. Each Seminar (Convention) is based on
a case by case basis as stated previously. Each client may entail variations in timing. Each client is

1920 s Medical Technology Essay
Tight, prickly, acidic like air sliding down your throat, burning your lungs with every ounce of air
taken in. Walking into the hospital today, with a killer cough, you would undergo a chest CT and an
eco; if your condition was paralis. Joel D. Howell specified that, In the 1900 s, going to the doctor
with a severe cough, the proxy would be a cough drop or a hot shower. Medical technology has
enhanced since the 1900 s, but we wouldn t be anywhere without the medical advances in the 1920 s .
In the 1920 s, medical technology was heavily affected by the end of the WW1, the Fleming fail,
prohibition and cigarettes.
After the WW1 many men lost their lives due to wounds left opened and untreated. The men were
injured with lacerations deep and flesh hanging off the body. America needed to commence something

When the iron lung became effective it gave women a new opportunity to breathe and start new. The
end of WW1 took a huge hit on everyone. Wives widowed and fathers lost to war. They were in need
of quick medical help and adhesive bandages came in handy. The adhesive bandage fought bacteria
and gave men chances. When Fleming went back over his research he found penicillin, the answer to
everything. Penicillin opened the eyes to Flemming and then lead to antibiotics. the death rate went
down 2% after antibiotics took a turn. The end of WW1, Flemming fail and cigarettes all affected the
1920 s medical technology. After the end of WW1 there was a need for medical advancement. The
fleming fail was the greatest medical epidemic of the 20th century. Most women began smoking
which damaged the lungs of many.

for everything. Adhesive bandages worked by keeping steryl wounds clean and rid of

The Metamorphosis Theme
The Metamorphosis by Kafka presents readers with an intensely claustrophobic and absurd premise
featuring a protagonist that is so used to living like an insect and so consumed with guilt that these
elements of his life finally take over and lead to his demise. In this world Kafka creates, Gregor lives
like an insect even before his metamorphosis and this theme is developed at the beginning of the story
when he wakes up to find that he has become what he most resembled in his life.
The idea of guilt and scurrying about to please others figures prominently in this text and it is useful to
look at the ways in which a compounding sense of guilt leads to Gregor s final resignation to death in
Kafka s short story, The Metamorphosis. For a man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His fate, it seems, is to provide for his family and there are several instances in which he laments his
inability to provide for his mother, father, and dear sister. The narrator states, revealing one of these
themes in The Metamorphosis , Gregor s sole desire was to do his utmost to help the family to forget
as soon as possible the catastrophe which had overwhelmed the business and thrown them all into a
state of complete despair (95) and this sense of blind duty compels him to work a meaningless, menial
job that has both figuratively and literally turned him into a filthy, scuttling, and helpless insect. While
this is true on a more basic level, the root of Gregor s problem stems from a deep seated feeling of
guilt, an emotion that eventually leads to his demise. By the end of the story, Gregor has completely
lost his purpose and for a man that once existed simply as a utilitarian creature (again, like an insect
since he lives only to fulfill his duty to the group). At one point, his feelings of uselessness are
described as, Gregor was now cut off from his mother, who was perhaps nearly dying because of him;
he dared not open the door for fear of frightening his sister, who had to stay with her mother, there was
nothing he could do but wait; and harassed by self reproach and worry he began to crawl to and fro
(109) and it is clear that the guilt of being useless is mounting and leading to his resignation in the
face of

The government spending on productivity enhancing investments (especially agricultural research and extension), rural infrastructure (especially roads and education), and rural development targeted directly to the rural poor, all contribute to the growth in agricultural productivity. Avila and Evenson (2004) have utilized FAO published data on cropland, pastureland, labour used in agriculture, fertilizer, seeds, tractors and combine harvesters and animal stocks for measuring the changes in TFP for crop production, livestock production and aggregate agricultural production for two periods, 1961 1980 and 1981 2001. Owing to the limitation of data on factor shares, the TFP growth rates seem to be on a higher side. Modern varieties of the Green Revolution increase in the education level of labour force, and increases in dietary energy have been reported as sources of TFP growth in the paper. Modern varieties contributed maximum (64%) to TFP growth, followed by Schooling (22 %) and nutrition (14 %). Birthal et al. (1999) have analyzed the trend in TFP for the livestock sector in India. The livestock output grew at the rate of 2.6 per cent per year over the period 1950 51 to 1995 96. The input index increased by 1.8 per cent per year and the TFP grew at about 0.8 per cent, implying that technical change contributed about 30 per cent to the overall growth over the past 45

After decades of protests, the U.S Navy ended live fire training exercises on Kahoʻolawe in 1990, and the whole island was transferred to the jurisdiction of the State of Hawaii in 1994. The KIRC(Kaho olawe Island Reserve Commission) is now taking care of Kaho olawe and its island.Sometime around the year 1000, Kahoʻolawe was settled by Polynesians, and small, temporary fishing communities were established along the coast. While it is not known how many people inhabited Kahoʻolawe, the lack of freshwater, probably limited the population to a few hundred people. Eisenhower transfers title of Kaho olawe to the U.S. Navy with the provision that it be returned in a condition for suitable habitation when no longer needed by the military. The influx of traders, missionaries and ranchers to the Hawaiian Islands brought diseases to the native population, which shrunk from 300,000 at the time of Cook s arrival to 50,000 a century later. Also, overgrazing by imported cattle, sheep and goats did similar damage to the land of Kaho`olawe, stripping native vegetation and causing soil erosion and runoff, which in turn damaged the ancient fishing spots and the marine ecosystem. The day after Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, with Hawai`i still an American territory, the Navy declared martial law on Kaho`olawe in order to use the entire island for military activities. Ranchers and other residents were forced off the island for good. • 6. The Greensburg Tornado Essay On May 4, 2007, the town of Greensburg, Kansas was devastated by an exceptionally strong tornado. With maximum winds estimated to be in excess of 205 miles per hour, and leaving a damage path as wide as 1.7 miles, the storm would go on to be rated a rare EF5, the first recorded in the United States since 1999. When the storm finally subsided, 95 percent of Greensburg had been destroyed, killing eleven people. h3 The Setup /h3 May 4 began in much the same way as many other spring days in the Great Plains. At 9:41 p.m., the National Weather Service station located in Dodge City, Kan. issued an emergency statement for the town of Greensburg, indicating the extreme peril of the situation. Shortly after the emergency statement was issued, the storm entered the town near its peak strength. The twister stayed on the ground for a total of 22 miles, passing entirely through Greensburg and leaving 95 percent of the city destroyed, with the remaining five percent significantly damaged. Damage surveys done after the storm found areas in which significant damage extended well in excess of a mile in width. Maximum wind speeds were estimated at 205 miles per hour, though the extent and degree of damage don t rule out a significantly higher wind speed. The Greensburg storm was unique for several reasons. • 7. Leadership And Effective Leadership For Learning Schools must meet the challenges of a changing educational climate and effective leadership is crucial in helping to guide the whole school community through the potentially treacherous waters of change. This assignment will delve into the complexity of leadership and will emphasize that whilst leaders can attempt to create conditions to help schools improve, they are not solely responsible for the outcome of the education process. Fullan (2001) posits that effective school leadership has the ability to manage educational change by building strong relationships and establishing a moral purpose. Therefore, the school leader has the orchestral role of subtly creating the conditions necessary for pupils and staff to thrive. This assignment will focus primarily on three of the preconditions for effective Leadership for Learning, mentioned with the assignment title: the role of shared leadership, explicit conversations and the creation of settings, mindsets, and strategies conducive to learning. The writer feels, that effective leaders can transform the idea of mutual accountability into moral accountability . Therefore this section can be interwoven within each of these three strands of Leadership for Learning mentioned; in a sense mutual or moral accountability could be interpreted as a by product of effective leadership. All of these attacks were carried out by using a high powered .223 caliber rifle. The ballistics processing was especially important because the use of firearm was the weapon that killed 10 innocent people, and wounded several others. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An investigation involving a firearm is a specialty of forensic science which focuses on the examination of firearms linked to ballistics. Ballistics is related to finding out the exact flight path of projectiles. Ballistics is the area of study that examines the exact path of the bullet from the moment it leaves the muzzle of the firearm up until it hits the target. During examination many items are collected for evidence including the firearm, bullets, live ammunition, cartridge casings, trace materials such as powder residue, and anything damaged by the projectile. Firearms are often divided into three processes: Internal, External, and Terminal Ballistics. Internal refers to the inside of the firearm; the space of time in which the shooter pulls the trigger, and the when the bullet is exiting. External ballistics is the flight between leaving the muzzle of the firearm, and it striking its target. Terminal ballistics is the impact of ballistics that refers to the examination in which the projectile strikes a target. The iconic series of the Halo Universe is a franchise that is looked at as the pinnacle of the competitive multiplayer system. Bungie studios, who were originally partnered with Take Two Interactive studios, which developed the top down actioner Grand Theft Auto series, created this masterpiece of a game in the late 1990s, after numerous trial and errors of what they wanted to do. The original Halo game was supposed to be released for the Macintosh OS X but after a presentation showcasing the game, the event was so good that it caught the eyes of Microsoft Studios. Impressed, Microsoft then decided to invest in Bungie studios and buy them out to create the series and bring it over to the PC, even though it instead made its way to the iconic Xbox system. • 10. Helping Athletes to Perform Better under Pressure With it being known that pressure on an athlete to not let their team down increases anxiety, Otten and Barrett (2013) decided to look at which aspect of baseball (pitching or batting) would be most prone to choking. They looked over archives from the Baseball Reference website which includes statistics from the last 109 years. Hitting, pitching, and team level statistics were all operationally defined and then examined. They found that pitching statistics were significantly correlated from regular season to post season while batting averages showed the smallest bivariate correlation. This could be due to the fact that batting is a more complex skill so the athlete is more critical of it during the high pressure that exists in the post season. With a preperformance routine before the individual task of hitting, the athlete could decrease overanalyzing of the skill and prevent choking due to pressure. With past research exhibiting that pre performance routines can improve performance and reduce choking during high pressure situations such as post season games, Balk, Adriaanse, de Ridder and Evers (2013) sought out how emotion regulation could be a major factor in the reason why. They looked at the effectiveness of emotion regulation strategies in helping with choking. Experienced golfers self reported arousal and anxiety during pressurized situations. Two aspects of emotion regulation, reappraisal and distraction, were examined. Reappraisal and distraction were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. How Poetry Makes Nothing Happen 1. Introduction W.H Auden famously wrote poetry makes nothing happen. Do you think this accurately describes the political and social place of poetry in the twentieth century and/or the twenty first century? Explain why you agree or disagree in the case of your chosen poet, justifying your answer with close reference to your poet s work and its reception and interpretation. This essay examines the effects that poetry has on society, both socially and politically. Poetry has been around for centuries, and it is a common misconception that it serves no purpose. One critic in particular, W.H Auden claimed, poetry makes nothing happen . However poetry awakens the reader s eyes and gives an insight to the society in which we live in today, and which has been before us. As evident in Ezra Pound s work, as he explored the use of imagism to critique modernism and twentieth century, forcing the readers to think more about society as a whole. The purpose of this essay is to show that poetry does make something happen and can have instrumental effects on society, whether it is a poet critiquing society, or simply providing another interpretation. Poetry is a code than needs to be cracked, it is a riddle that makes the reader bring out their true creativity, which is why I disagree with W.H Auden in saying, poetry makes nothing happen. 2. Second, as the work or practice of looking after those unable to care for themselves, especially on account of age or illness . Based on these definitions caring can be seen as an integral part of nursing practice. In fact in the article Applying the Ethics of Care to Your Nursing Practice Vicki D. Lachman states that caring and nursing are so intertwined that nursing always appeared on the same page in a Google search for the definition of caring (2012). According to Dr. Todaro Francheschi the most troubling thing for a great number of nurses... is to face death (p.85). A second factor that can contribute to compassion fatigue and burn out is bullying in the workplace. Bullying can come from peers as well as superordinates. A third factor is moral distress. Moral distress happens when an individual wants to do the right thing but it is almost impossible to do so. Moral distress can stem from limited resources or environments where nurses feel that they are not heard. One example of moral distress, is the nurse that leaves work questioning whether or not she did everything she possibly could for her patient due to limited resources. Humans have to survive and prosper, with the mayhem of trying not to be eaten everyday, while trying to establish a sense of government and order. This causes conflict between the protagonist and the zombies which is usually resolved by finding a cure. Experiences play a vital role on who we are as a person, more importantly the memories that we ve had as children stick with us for the rest of our lives. In first world countries most experiences as a child are generally the same for everyone because they live in a safe shielded environment that protects them anything bad that could happen but, children growing up in third world countries face horrible experiences that can cost them their lives but they believe is the norm. This essay will examine Tocqueville s and Marx s conceptions of history and through it, understand the nature of capitalist society, and comprehend their predictions for an ideal modern state. Using their analysis, I shall argue that Marx s prediction of the future is more compelling as compared to Tocqueville. Marx begins his analysis of social order with the historical development of materialism that results in the industrial capitalist society. To explain human relationships further, the social exchange theory can be another definite explanation to help distinguish how we feel to be with other people and how one perceives to be with them, either to rekindle their relationship or to question the decisions that make to be in a relationship (Kelley 1959). The social exchange theory can be defined as a term that allows behaviour to be exchanged to allow a relationship between two people to happen (Huston et al., 2013). An individual social life involves interactions between two people which can be viewed as social exchanges in terms of costs and benefits (Nakagawa et al., 2013). By taking the view of human relationships the social exchange theory argues that individuals engage in a cost benefit analysis which forms their relationship with others (Milkie et al., 2004). In some states like Utah, there is a push to lower the legal intoxication limit from 0.08 BAC to 0.05 BAC. In Massachusetts, there is a push to get ignition interlock devices into cars to prevent people that are under the influence of alcohol from getting behind the wheel. Combining these two aspects to clamp down on drunk driving would be considered strict enforcement of laws. There are many people that are in full support of this reduction and the use of the ignition interlock systems. However, there are people that are trying to make a stand against these topics. As it is seen as medicine, the cases were treated as individual agreements between the patient and doctor. Because this was not an experimentation, there was no need for the procedure to go through the IRB. Hence, no regulation. Furthermore, regulating surrogacy was on the state level and many states did not outlaw it. Effects Of Parental Investment On Children Parental investment includes any investment by the parent in an individual offspring that increases the offspring s chances of survival, at the cost of the parent s ability to invest in other offspring (Travier, 1972). Since investing on themselves is as important as investing on their children, parents have to choose between caring for a child and acquiring the resources needed to insure their own productive and reproductive successes (Turner McAndrew, 2006). This choice can be influenced by the social, cultural and economic factors at household level, and by socio demographic factors at individual level. These factors may vary from culture to culture and overtime. However, the following variables are the most frequently cited determinants of parental investment on children. i) Gender; the gender of the parent is the most widely reported determinant of parent`s willingness to invest on children. This is mentioned across disciplines, from biology through social anthropology, with similar conclusions but different explanations. There is consensus that the gender identity of the parent through which income is received determines how the resources are invested on child welfare. Studies (Agarwal, 1997; Kabeer, 2000) indicated that income injected into the household through the mother do more justice to the welfare of children compared to resources injected through the father. The surface of Inner planets compared to Outer planets are rocky, Inner planets are denser, all the Inner planets are in the asteroid belt. The Cosmos is all that is or was or ever will be. Our feeblest contemplations of the Cosmos stir us there is a tingling in the spine, a catch in the voice, a faint sensation as if a distant memory, of falling from a height. We know we are approaching the greatest of mysteries. Carl Sagan. There is nothing more than what there is. The surface of the Inner planets is very different from those of the Outer planets because, Earth compared to Uranus is completely different due to Uranus being mostly made out of gas. The Inner planets are also much denser than Outer planets. For example, Venus average density is 5.24g/cm3 as opposed to Neptune which is 1.33g/cm3. Lastly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Shepherd Of Hermas The Shepherd of Hermas (sometimes called The Pastor or The Shepherd) is a Christian work of the second century, considered a valuable book by many Christians, and occasionally considered canonical by some of the early Church fathers. The reference to Clement of Rome suggests a date between 88 and 97 for at least the first two visions. Since Paul sent greetings to Hermas, a Christian of Rome (Romans 16:14), some have followed Origen s opinion that he was the author of this religious romance. However, others set the date of composition in the 2nd century. The Shepherd had great authority in the 2nd and 3rd centuries. It was cited as Scripture by Irenaeus and Tertullian and was bound with the New Testament in the Codex Sinaiticus, and it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fifth vision introduces the Angel of repentance in the guise of a shepherd, from whom the whole work takes its name. He delivers to Hermas a series of precepts (mandata, entolai), which form an interesting development of early Christian ethics. The eleventh mandate, on humility, is concerned with false prophets who desire to occupy the first seats (that is to say, among the presbyters). Some have seen here a reference to Marcion, who came to Rome c. AD 140 and desired to be admitted among the priests (or possibly even to become bishop of Rome). After the mandates come ten similitudes (parabolai) in the form of visions, which are explained by the angel. The longest of these (Similitude 9) is an elaboration of the parable of the building of a tower, which had formed the matter of the third vision. The tower is the Church, and the stones of which it is built are the faithful. But in the third vision it looked as though only the holy are a part of the Church; in Similitude 9 it is clearly pointed out that all the baptized are included, though they may be cast out for grave sins, and can be readmitted only after penance. The Shepherd of Hermas uses many indirect citations from New Testament. He shows acquaintance with the three Synoptic Gospels and the Gospel of John. He most often refers to the Epistle of James and the Book of Revelation. He also uses Ephesians and other Epistles, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Andrew Jackson A Hero President Andrew Jackson, born on March 15, 1767, was a man of little formal education. Described as a quick tempered bully, sensitive to criticism in his youth, his behaviors exuded a wild reputation. Perhaps the most noteworthy event of Jackson s childhood, was the American Revolution. Orphaned by the war, Jackson spouted a lifelong hatred toward the British. After spending all of his inheritance on alcohol and gambling, Jackson decided the best way to make his fortune was by entering the legal profession. Successful in his career as a prosecutor, Jackson was later elected a seat on the Tennessee Superior Court, a position he served for six years. In the textbooks, Andrew Jackson is known as a national war hero, a title he received after his victory at New Orleans during the War of 1812. Their ideas attracted aspiring entrepreneurs and poorer farming regions in the Northwest and the South. Almost everyone was alleged that stock markets and securities market are highly efficient in response to any new information in the market. It was argued that when information regarding factors influencing market arises, the information spread like wild fire in the market and the prices of stocks adjust accordingly without any delay. This means that neither the fundamental analysis related to analysis of financial information of the company such as earnings, capital stock etc nor the technical analysis related to the analysis of historical performance of the stocks of the company enables the investor either experienced or not to get ... Most of the investors try to select the securities which are mis priced undervalued due to the reason that in future price of these securities will increase and they are able to outperform the market. The portfolio managers identify the securities which are able to outperform the market and they use variety of different techniques to predict the performance of the securities and stock. The financial analysis gives comparative advantage to the investors which results in substantial profits. The efficient market hypothesis argues that any technique is not capable to generate excess due to dependable predictability of stock and securities return. The efficient market hypothesis argues that it is very difficult to predict the future stock return and also the predictions are not consistent. The anxiety around these threats is vindicated, as research exhibits that attacks on the critical infrastructure are greater than before in both complexity and prevalence and will endure to develop in the near future. The site management and monitoring have progressed for critical infrastructure facilities as they have become more increasingly connected to the internet. However, added convenience of connectivity has turned once limited attack surface of these industries into a fertile landscape for cyber attacks. Due to the potentially high profile impacts of attacks on critical infrastructure systems, these industries have become even more attractive targets for cybercriminals (Cavelty, 2014). • 52. The Metamorphosis Theme The Metamorphosis by Kafka presents readers with an intensely claustrophobic and absurd premise featuring a protagonist that is so used to living like an insect and so consumed with guilt that these elements of his life finally take over and lead to his demise. In this world Kafka creates, Gregor lives like an insect even before his metamorphosis and this theme is developed at the beginning of the story when he wakes up to find that he has become what he most resembled in his life. The idea of guilt and scurrying about to please others figures prominently in this text and it is useful to look at the ways in which a compounding sense of guilt leads to Gregor s final resignation to death in Kafka s short story, The Metamorphosis. For a man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His fate, it seems, is to provide for his family and there are several instances in which he laments his inability to provide for his mother, father, and dear sister. The narrator states, revealing one of these themes in The Metamorphosis , Gregor s sole desire was to do his utmost to help the family to forget as soon as possible the catastrophe which had overwhelmed the business and thrown them all into a state of complete despair (95) and this sense of blind duty compels him to work a meaningless, menial job that has both figuratively and literally turned him into a filthy, scuttling, and helpless insect. While this is true on a more basic level, the root of Gregor s problem stems from a deep seated feeling of guilt, an emotion that eventually leads to his demise. By the end of the story, Gregor has completely lost his purpose and for a man that once existed simply as a utilitarian creature (again, like an insect since he lives only to fulfill his duty to the group). At one point, his feelings of uselessness are described as, Gregor was now cut off from his mother, who was perhaps nearly dying because of him; he dared not open the door for fear of frightening his sister, who had to stay with her mother, there was nothing he could do but wait; and harassed by self reproach and worry he began to crawl to and fro (109) and it is clear that the guilt of being useless is mounting and leading to his resignation in the face of ...
