The Young Heroine In A White Heron By Sarah Orne Jewett
The Young Heroine
Countless stories of heroes and heroines have all followed the same cycle from beginning to end
of a hero s life. The cycle starts from a certain event affecting the hero s life leading them on a
quest that is typically filled with some form of adventure. The hero is equipped for the quest with a
type of power or aid from the supernatural to help them face trials to further prove themselves. Once
the hero completes the quest, they experience either physical or metaphorical death and are
rewarded greatly. According to Griffith, A White Heron by Sarah Orne Jewett fits the hero
archetype from the main character being sent on a quest full of trials to the reward of the quest s
completion.
In the story, A White Heron, the reader is introduced to the main character, Sylvia. Her quest
begins when she meets a man who is lost within the nearby forest and is in need of a place to stay
for the night. Sylvia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There ain t a foot o ground she don t know her way over and the wild creatures counts her one o
themselves (Jewett). Sylvia s ability to work with the wildlife and have it respond to herself is
her own personal power. Those equipped abilities develop and grows along the adventure once
she faces the trials. For example, throughout the story, Sylvia battles with the decision of whether
to provide the hunter the location of the white heron or not. She faces many temptations of her
desire to impress the hunter and to also gain his reward of ten dollars. Griffith also describes in
his analysis how Sylvia faces a trial when she climbs the pine tree to find the white heron s nest.
The journey is described as difficult in the beginning, but nature is impressed by her determination
and allows her an easier passage. Once Sylvia reaches the white heron s nest, she is face with a life
changing trial: the

Moral, Ethical, And Ethical Theories
Moral and Ethical theories often conflict with one another. It is hardly ever true that both
theories agree with one another. Same is the case for Jean and Pierre. Following the four basic
principles of Act Utilitarianism, Rule Utilitarianism, Social Contract Theory, and Kantianism
his actions will be discussed in the following paper. Examining his actions, he was in favor of
following the moral instinct of Utilitarianism more than any other theory. Rule utilitarianism is a
branch of utilitarianism that suggests an action is ethical if it follows the rule of greatest good.
It is a moral rule that most people follow due to its greater benefits. It is a rule to judges people
based on their actions, which follow the universal moral principles to result in greatest happiness.
In this scenario, Jean s actions are judged which involves hacking into the networking system,
impersonating a doctor, and saving his nephew s life. Of all these three acts saving the life of
child provides the greatest good. Although, his act in unethical, but his pure intentions and the
severity of allergic reaction makes it morally ethical to breach network security and prescribe a
drug by impersonating a doctor. Therefore, I believe rule utilitarianism provides a moral obligation
to save a life of a child over hacking into the networking systems and following the laws. Similarly,
act utilitarianism is another branch of utilitarianism stating that a person s act is morally correct if

Old Earth, Or Progressive Creationism
Old earth, or progressive creationism shares similarities with theistic evolution in that it places
the age of the earth at 4 5 billion years ago and the universe at 10 20 billion years ago. However,
they are not satisfied with the claim that God guided evolution brought the world into existence,
eventually arriving at the world we live in today. Robert C. Newman, an astrophysicist and New
Testament professor acknowledges that it would be possible for God to use evolution as a
creation tool, just as it is possible that God created solely through supernatural means. However, he
thinks that there are too many unanswered questions left for both positions. It is from this
conviction that Newman places himself in the progressive creationist camp. This view is named
such because it sees creation as occurring in a progression with various levels which built upon
one another, using a combination of supernatural intervention and providential guidance to
harmonize the histories found in both the biblical account of Genesis and the scientific account
we find in nature. Newman is quick to point out that there are many variations of the old earth
creationist position. Of these, however, he finds three main varieties, which differ primarily in
their views on the nature of the days of the creation week. These three categories are: (1) The day
age view. As implied by the title, this view considers the days to be chronological, but not 24 hour
periods. Rather, they are long spans of time,

Memento Movie Analysis
Memento Movie is a cast directed by Christopher Nolan. The movie is a Psychological thriller that
narrates the events that have driven the cause of the protagonist called Leonard Shelby to murder
Teddy. The movie has received serious acclaim for its special time sequence, which can be
attributed to both its chronicle and reversed order. The formation of the film serves two purposes,
to imitate the process of human recollection, and to allow the audience to understand the nature of
anterograde amnesia, a disease Leonard Shelby ails from.
According to Buckland, the film is very difficult to fallow and it requires to be watched at least
twice to fully comprehend all the director Christopher Nolan who doubles as an actor is trying to

Siddhartha Vs. A Dolls House Essay
Though Siddhartha and A Doll s House share a completely different storyline, they are very much
similar because of the development of the main characters throughout the two stories. Nora, from
the play A Doll s House, changes her image after recognizing what kind of life she was living.
Siddhartha, from the book Siddhartha, becomes aware that life cannot be taught, and that it had to
be experienced first hand.
Both of the main characters seemed to have suddenly awakened from what I consider enslavement
of the mind. I believe this because they are not free to think about things without the influence of
their surrounding society. Nora notices that she is living her life in wretchedness at the end of the ...

Her father owned her and made her do everything he wanted, and now her husband is playing that
role. Her whole life seems to be awful, but then the plot thickens, and Nora awakens from her
everyday, coma of ignorance. Nora has morphed from a housewife into a liberated woman. These
changes occur throughout the three acts of A Doll s House, and are the basis of the play.
Nora, the innocent little housewife, starts off as a harmless little doll but soon changes. She is
Torvald s perfect wife in the beginning of the play, but little does he know that she has a mind of
her own and isn t really his little doll. The opening of Nora s ulterior personality starts when she
opens up to Mrs. Linde (Act 1). Nora bleeds to Mrs. Linde her financial problems with the trip
that she spent two hundred and fifty pounds on, on her husband. Being the reader, I was
shocked to hear so knowing how harmless and perfect Nora appeared to be. Then later on, the
plot unfolds and reveals the incriminating fact that Nora had been owing Krogstad this money
the whole time and had been paying him back in increments with the allowance given to her by
Torvald. It is crazy that Nora had been so sneaky all along and had been keeping it away from
Torvald all along. Nora is then stuck in a dilemma when Krogstad blackmailed her by telling her
that she has to get his job back or he ll reveal the whole thing to

structural failure and aerodynamic forces to tear it apart. The O ring wasn t designed to operate

changed when prices, production methods or production designed are changed significantly.
However, an employee of Shun, Manjit, has decided to change the method in which Shun
Electronics calculates its costs of its products. Manjit wants to expand the three departmental cost
centers to eight, each with its own overhead cost allocation rate. As a result, it appears that the
total costs for four of their six radios will increase, while two will decrease. This poses a great deal
of issues concerning Shun Electronics:
Standard cost of product change
Longer run functions such as price change, make/buy decisions, financial planning and corporate
management evaluation divisional performance are altered significantly
This new costing method may change current incentives of managers
Profit margins for some products decreased while others increased

Everyone knows that one cannot succeed at everything in life. But for one to not be good
enough at a major one has to try it out first. At some point everyone has tried a new hobby as for

Understanding Do the Right Thing
While the 1970 s and 80 s marked a decline in movies featuring black actors and a lack of black

William Shakespeare: King Henry V
Though William Shakespeare: King Henry V may not be one of the best of his plays, through the
protagonist King Henry V he depicts an ideal image that leaders should seek religious guidance
from religious leaders in the quest to rule. This is to provide guidance in their leadership and rule.
Various scenes in the play are constructed to illustrate King Henry VChristian character like mercy,

everyone. William Shakespeare uses the character of Henry V to provide insight to people that
leaders should maintain a pure relationship with the people they rule. Through this, Leaders build
and live in a harmonious state. Therefore, drawing from this play, leaders should not raise their
identity once they assume power and forget about their past friends. Leaders when rising to fame
and popularity, should keep hold of their humble upbringing together with their longtime friends.
This helps them remember their personal lives and have a touch of the common citizen. Moreover,
the play emphasizes on the impact that King Henry V had to his soldiers, and despite the play not
showing numerous occasion when King Henry was in the battle, his vivid contribution and effort
are recognizable throughout. William Shakespeare illustrates Henry V as an inspiration to soldiers
and people as he helps them rise to larger ranks and attain more significant achievements (William,

Current Level of Informatics Knowledge and Informatics in Current Practice Health care
information management is a core competency for professional nurses. However, not all nurses and
healthcare providers have adequate knowledge of operational informatics. Just as technology has
forced medical records and documentation to evolve to computer based charting, nurses must also
progress to rise above competency in information management. According to the Technology
Informatics Guiding Educational Reform Summit (TIGER) Initiative, the vision for informatics
prepared nurses includes management and leadership, education, communication and collaboration,
informatics design and technology, policy, and culture (Hood, 2010). As an educator, the focus of
nursing informatics lies in word processing, spreadsheets and databases, online resources and public
health information (PHI), curriculum planning, e mail, interpretation of the electronic medical
record (EMR), and online continuing education.
Informatics in the Workplace
One of the most important forms of communication in the professional nursing educator role is
through electronic mail, or e mail. E mail etiquette is crucial to effective communication in the
workplace. As the program coordinator for a nurse assistant program, the responsibilities remain in
the ability to effectively communicate with other educators, business partners in the health fields,

Force uncertainty: The least count of the Newton meter that I used is 0.25N. Although the
interspace of each scale is wide enough for me to determine, I was not able to control the tension

Racial Tensions In The United States
For centuries, many political and civil rights activist have taken a stance against the growing racial
tensions that have persisted with in the United States. Even though the racial problems facing this
country today are not as transparent as in the past, the underlying prejudice still remains. For
instance, President Trump s campaign used disapproving religious and racial views to gain support
which subsequently escalated the already strained racial relations. Even though political elections
are anonymous in the eye of the public, society has shaped anyone out who voted for Donald
Trump to essentially be Caucasian. Therefore, this presidential election has caused for any progress
regarding racial relations to be questioned due to the blatant

Although it is true that Kobe Bryant was charged with sexual assault, companies are willing to
endorse him because he was proven not guilty by law. Does this make Kobe Bryant a risky
partner to be an endorser for a company? I would say so, but than again, anyone would be a risk.
I think the reason why people are still willing to endorse Kobe Bryant is because they are willing
to take that risk. The reason why many companies are willing to take that risk is because Kobe s
fame and success only continues to grow. I don t mean to say that he has found success because
of his past sexual assault charge, but his success in the NBA has only continue to improve even
after the ordeal. Kobe Bryant is considered to be one of the best to ever play

Email Security Improving An Email Address
Email security improving
An email address is currently what a mailbox was in 1940. Individuals send letters, reminders
and business agendas via email every day. Each year, more persons are becoming acclimated to
the Internet and, as the number of people who need email rises, so do the number of email service
providers. Dissimilar providers offer different features like storage, folder creation, and spam filters
so people should choose one that meets their desires.
These days, email is a needed part of communication. If individuals are not hooked up to email,
they may never hear from anyone they know. Email is a little more complicated than sending a
letter in the mail, nevertheless it is the same idea. Persons will be on their way to sending letters
by using their computer in no time. It is a cheap and easy way to send a message to anyone. All in
all, it is significant for email user to get the knowledge and understand how secure their E mail is
and how become more secure.
How secure is your E mail?
When individuals send emails from one place to another, the most significant thing they can do is
secure their email. A secure email has a much smaller chance of being pilfered or used for
information than one that is not secure. The most significant thing persons can do is make sure that
they are being smart about their Internet connections.
Common email providers tend to allow (or require) a secure HTTPS connection between the
browser or email client and their servers.

There were several mom and pop butcher shops, clothing stores, banks, bakeries and a few small

so excited and asked Vince to stop so I could investigate. The huge store was filled to the rafters
with used furniture, house hold items, mirrors, doors, wrought iron and decorative objects. I was

Vince drove to the Rosetti Coffee Bar as if he had driven there a million times. Although the
coffee bar was located next to a tire shop in the industrial neighborhood, it was also across the
street from a winery and the freshly brewed coffee smelled divine, the warm cornetti and pastries
looked temptingly delicious. Johannes arrived just as we were getting out of the car. He greeted us

Compare And Contrast Odysseus And Beowulf
The Odyssey, by Homer, shows what Odysseus went through to get home in the 20 years he was
away from home. From the day Telemachus was born, Odysseus left to go fight in Trogan War. He
fought in Troy for 10 years and then took a worrisome route home for 10 more. He endured death
and many hardships that only he was able to survive throughout the time away from home.
Meanwhile, Beowulfprotrayed good vs. evil, establishing an identity, and what it means to be
heroic. Beowulf, keeper of warriors, defeated Grendal and Grendal s mother. But that wasn t
enough, he had to defeat the most dangerous, petrifying dragon; only then would he retire.
Because of his courage and bravery, his strength wasn t enough this time; he ended up dying for
the Geats when he fought the dragon. Although in a way Odysseus and Beowulf both had support,
they are both powerful heroes who accomplished amazing things; however, Odysseus, who was
known for his cunning, was flawed and had help from the gods, while Beowulf, who was known
for his bravery and strength, was portrayed as flawless.

How Does Skin-Tone Crayons Make A Negative Aspect Of...
The content on children s programming on public television greatly impacts cultural sensitivity.
The amount of diversity we have in the United States causes us to have cultural sensitivity on
our public programs which could be positive or negative. Having cultural sensitivity on public
programming can help people acknowledge and accept other ethnicities but, a negative aspect
of cultural sensitivity is over accommodating toward people of these other ethnicities and acting
different toward them. Racial and cultural awareness starts when children are infants and
toddlers. At that age, children learn what is me and what is not me (Biles, Barbara). After a
workshop session on cultural awareness, I was asked, Does this really matter? Will adding skin
tone crayons make a difference in children s lives? Yes, I said, skin tone crayons help a child
become aware of who he is and who others are (Biles, Barbara). The small changes like this will
help kids develop positive feelings about their racial and cultural identity (Biles, Barbara). Children
need to be enlightened to cultural awareness at an early... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes, there is a fear or accidentally stereotyping people of other ethnicities and acting safe,
or more reserved. At some point in a child s life, their parent needs to talk to them about
discrimination and racism. But, parents also feel uncomfortable talking to their children about
cultural diversity. For example, if a child sees someone who is Asian in a grocery store and asked
why they look different then he or she does, the parent of the child will tell the child to stop
talking or stop staring. But, telling a young child who is just trying to get an explanation on why
they are different to not talk about it could be reinforcing that these differences are in some way

Boyce Lab Report
Preliminary Data:
Preliminary work was preformed by Nathan Cox in the Boyce Lab to examine the functional
significance of O GlcNAcylation in the COPII pathway. Perturbation of O GlcNAcylation through
Thiamet G, an OGA inhibitor, was assessed using a well established VSV G eGFP reporter assay
Citations. The trafficking of a temperature sensitive VSV G eGFP mutant that is transported by
COPII from the ER to the Golgi at the permissive temperature can be evaluated by the development
of characteristic juxanuclear punctate fluorescence (Golgi) from diffuse/reticular fluorescence (ER)
over time. Treatment with Thiamet G slowed Golgi accumulation of VSV G eGFP, indicating that
OGA activity is required for normal COPII trafficking (Figure 1).

prominent. It is ironic because it is expected that with diverse people in one place they will want
to seclude themselves but in the US; it shows that when there is a similar connection, such as
language, between the people then they can unite and be great. The reason I mentioned that
language doesn t stop dividing people is because even within a certain type of people there is
still seclusion that is caused by language. The invisible oblige of language is so visible that there

Different Definitions For Cloud Computing Essay
Introduction There are many different definitions for cloud computing. The New Zealand

Beowulf Influence
As an Old English professor for 35 years, it is clear that Tolkien had a passion for Anglo Saxon
history (Collier). His writings on Beowulf is critically acclaimed and shows Tolkien s enriched
knowledge of the time period and the Old English style of poetry. Even further, his love for the
English culture and literature can clearly be seen in his own fictional work, mainly The Lord of
The Rings. Throughout this book, Tolkien uses various Old Englishwords for places and people in
Middle earth. Furthermore, he honors a rich Anglo Saxon history through the Rohirrim and their
similar culture of war. Lastly, Tolkien mirrors the epic poem Beowulf
as he draws from the characters

Beowulf was the most important work of scholarship that Tolkien read and is what inspired
many scenes and themes in The Lord of the Rings. When analyzing the influence of the Old
English poem, it is important to understand Tolkien s perspective on the poem which explains
why it had such a major impact on his life and his writing. In his piece Beowulf: The Monsters
and the Critics Tolkien explains that his love for the poem is based upon the style and beauty of
the poem. He states that Beowulf should be known world wide due to how the monster s and
dragons are depicted, or its everlasting quality. In his final paragraph Tolkien tosses aside the
historical value that the poem has, or the fact that it was written at such an early time in history.
He instead explains that it would still have power had it been written in some time or place
unknown and without posterity, if it contained no name that could now be recognized (Tolkien
20). This passage summarize his thesis that Beowulf s importance is often misrepresented.
Tolkien s inspiration and passion for the poem comes from how it s preserved from a day
already changing and passing, a time that has now for ever vanished, swallowed in oblivion
(Tolkien 20). Tolkien s use of Anglo Saxon history in The Lord of the Rings was a way to revive
the culture so it would not be lost. In this essay, Tolkien is highlighting this point, explaining that
Beowulf continues to preserve the rich culture of Old England due to it s aesthetic qualities and
profound appeal (Tolkien

Examples Of First Class Levers
The first class lever is where the force and resistance is located between the fulcrum. An example
of a first class lever is a seesaw. An example of a first class lever in the human body is the joint

resistance force distributed between the axis and fulcrum. A wheel barrow or luggage with
wheels on the bottom are examples of a second class lever. An example of a second class lever in
the human body is located in the lower leg when someone stands on the tiptoes. The third class

Fear Causes The Destruction Of Civilization In Lord Of The...
How Fear Causes the Destruction of Civilization Fear is unique, and can manifest itself in many
different ways, like nightmares, or uncertainty before doing an activity that is risky. For many,
when the word fear is said to them, they think of their worst fears, such as clowns, ghosts, heights,
and what not. Yet, on an island on which a plane full of boys crash lands, some uncommon fears
lead to total destruction of civilization. In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, it it
evident that fearcan and will eventually tear down the walls of civilization. It all starts when a
plane crash lands into the trees of a lost island. The survivors soon meet up one by one along the
shore of the island, and it is noteworthy that they are all boys, from the age range of six to twelve
years. At once each boy develops their own characteristics with Ralph as their leader, Piggy
being the brainiac, Jack the hunter, and many other littluns and bigguns . However, all is not
well for too long, as their stay on the island continues, the boys become more savage like, due to
their fears. The different terrors these boys encounter lead to despicable actions, including two
brutal murders. William Golding shows that fear, of all kinds, can lead to the destruction of
civilization. Rules are a fundamental part of society because they provide physical and
emotional safety, the fear of them will undeniably destruct civilization. In the beginning, an
almost unanimous vote decides that Ralph shall be the chief, and with that role he has some
implicit rules for everyone. These few rules include the use of the conch in order to speak,
bathroom use in specific areas, a bright fire at all times, and the construction of shelters. Jack
and the choir boys disregard his few rules one by one, and begin to turn away from Ralph. Since
these rules are the key factors to not only survival but rescue as well, Ralph fears and reminds the
boys about them. Eventually, after being in disagreement about what the most important measures
are for survival, a rebellion stirs among Jack and the hunters with Ralph. This was not only a
breakaway from law and order, but also a breakdown of civilization on the island. At one point

What Is The Theme Of Darkling By Thomas Hardy
This is a poem written on December 31st, 1899. Hardy wrote it at the end of a century. During
the time that this poem was written there was a lot of violence such as the boxer rebellion,
Philippine American war and the second Boer war, it is important to have a bit of context for the
poem to understand where all the hopelessness is coming from. The words darkling thrush paint a
picture of this little thrush bird trying to break the darkness of the scene and spread hope but
ultimately fails. Darkling means in darkness, or becoming dark, as Hardy can still see the

Infection Prevention In Healthcare Settings
Introduction:
Hand hygiene is recognized by infection prevention and control experts as the single most important
intervention in decreasing the spread of infection in both healthcare and community settings.
Because the hands are vectors for transmission between people as well as inanimate objects such as
environmental surfaces (i.e., blood pressure cuffs), it is critical to practice frequent hand hygiene
using the traditional soap and water or an alcohol based hand rub as appropriate. The 2009 World
Health Guidelines for Hand Hygiene for Healthcare Settings identifies five ways the nosocomial

Infections
Infection prevention and control is required to prevent the transmission of communicable diseases
in all health care settings. Infection prevention and control demands a basic understanding of the
epidemiology of diseases; risk factors that increase patient susceptibility to infection; and the
practices, procedures and treatments that may result in infections.
Infection control precautions are a set of standard recommendations used to reduce the risk of
transmission of infectious agents from body fluids or environmental surfaces that contain infectious
agents.

The Negative Effects Of Violence In Television And Mass...
With 59 dead and 527 injured, the Las Vegas shooting earlier this month was one of the deadliest
mass shootings in American history. With no immediately apparent motive, it begs the question in
people as to what might possess a person to go out and commit such a heinous crime. Indeed, the
question has dogged the American populace ever since the invention of the modern mass shooting,
and even before, attached to other senseless violent atrocities. Human brains are wired to look for
causality in meaningless events as a survival mechanism, so they have a tendency to find it in
places where it actually never existed in the first place. This is why violencein television and video
games has come under fire in recent years as their influence expands, despite evidence that such
phony violence does not beget real violence and may, in fact, be beneficial to a person s well being.
Firstly, it should be noted that the studies people often cite when attempting to prove media
violence has negative effects on behavior are flawed and inconsistent. In a review of publications
on the subject conducted by psychologist Jonathan L. Freedman, he found that of the 2,500
publications, there were only 200 pieces of non duplicated research among them, stemming from
places of varying scientific legitimacy. The ways in which many of these studies are conducted can
lead to skewed results in favor of the hypothesis the researchers want to prove. When studying how

Mood: While finding their Aunt Cilla, the mood is worried, because in this book, it s all improv,
where the Tillermans must find a new shelter every day, somehow make money, and they aren t
sure if they even get to eat daily, so they worry.
Tone: I think the tone is hopeful, because the Tillermans just want to stay one family, so they do
everything to stick together. Through everything, the good and the bad, they believe things will
turn out right, hoping, and eventually their lives improve.
Theme: The theme may be stick together. As long as you have people there to support and help

The hot, arid air burned into my soul as I faced the barren desert surrounding me. My family and
I were on a long awaited vacation to the Grand Canyon, yet we had to drive over 15 hours I
radiated impatience throughout the journey. Walls of heat shrouded me as I gasped for air my
efforts were fruitless, however, swallowing nothing but fire. As the fire in my lungs grew, I
looked out the window and into the looming suns heart. Suddenly, my eyes collapsed and tears
engulfed them till they took their true form; a forest blanketed with soft, gleaming snow.
However, I was evoked from my reverie by a vehement cry and I was staring into the eyes of
tattered vultures, of every discrepancy, who recited a prophecy only I could hear. Who dares
enter our land! they screeched in a dissonant manner. Trembling, I gazed at the sun and was
standing amidst a perpetual desert the vultures eyes glued to me. I froze with fear, though the
sun baked my skin. A meal for today, the vultures rasped flamboyantly, cooked to a crisp! Uh, I
sighed, I couldn t wait 10 minutes to save me from you repulsive demons! I woke up like a
corpse rises from the grave, my red eyes flooded with tears. The cool air lulled my throat;
dissipating the faint memory of a raging fire and loathsome vultures scavenging my flesh. As the
tears coated my face, I sat up until a symphony of cracks sang from my spine. Despite the
agonizing pain, I turned around and the world revealed itself as a contemporary

Reflection On Early Learning
This reflection reviews my time at Goodstart Early Learning in Kyneton and the four weeks I
spent there during my first practicum round. The review will critically reflect my experience from
this practicum, using readings and learnings my strengthens and weaknesses will be revealed.
Strategies will also be implemented in what areas I need to focus on before my next practicum
round.
Something that I observed at the beginning of my practicum were the issues concerning
behavioural guidance. There was a group of four boys who required the greatest assistance, my
experience in managing people and being a parent quickly reminded me in how to best support
them. Knowing each child and what their abilities and interests are enable educators to respond
sensitively and appropriately to each child (Cohrssen, Church, Tayler, 2011). I spoke with my
mentor and other educators and discovered the backgrounds of these boys and reasonings for their
behaviours. I learnt by observing the other educators how these behavioural guidance issues were
managed and the many techniques they used. Something I realised with the learning experiences I
conducted was the need to not speak too quickly and be clear and concise with my instructions. As I
have had limited interaction with young children as my stepchildren are now adults, I was
unaccustomed in how to effectively communicate with young children. At the beginning of my
practicum the instructions and direction I was attempting to provide were too

Helmet Comparison Essay
Imagine this, going into a burning building that could collapse, explode, or kill and you are the one
that is going to save someone s life inside and put your life on the line. This is what firefighters
have to think about everyday whether they are from the United States, Europe, or any other country.
Despite this similarity and multiple more, the United States and the Europeans fireservices
differences are clear.
Approximately 1,134,400 people in the United States are firefighters. About 346,000 are career
and paid firefighters. 788,000 are volunteer and don t get paid for their time.Only seven percent of
all these firefighters are women which leaves ninety three percent being male. The classes of fire

Seliger on European style helmets. Surprisingly, the United States and Europe use trucks with
the same way, however, they are much different. About seventy five percent of the United States
truck are custom cabs. This means that they are not regular car brands. Some brands of
American trucks are Rosenbauer, E ONE, and Pierce. A reason for using custom cabs is because
they can make trucks bigger in America because of the larger roads. The United States ladder
trucks have a lot of uses. They have equipment for rescuing people, ventilation, and fire
suppression which is actually putting out the fire. European trucks are very different from
American trucks. Their trucks are ninety five percent commercial cabs so, their trucks are brands
like Mercedes or Volvo. They use these brands because they make smaller and more compact
trucks for their smaller roads. Unlike the American ladder truck, the Europeans don t have many
with pumps or tanks. They are strictly use for rescuing and not putting out fire. They also don t
have room to have large ladder trucks with lots of equipment on

Kff Network
Upon reviewing Kudler Fine Food network, it has been determined that a major network
overhaul will need to be conducted to make sure that Kudler is brought up to speed with the
latest technology. This is very important because if Kudler is unable to keep up with the
technological advances then the company will fall behind. Making sure that Kudler is not only
able to keep up with the advances with network systems it is also important to install the proper
systems so that no money is wasted. What is meant by this is that if the improper systems and
storage units are installed to only handle data over the next year this is only going to force Kudler
to spend more money in upgrades in the future. This is why it is vital to install the proper... Show

These systems will be replaced with one the recent releases of Microsoft Server to provide the
support needed for the new network. These systems are important to the network as they are the
brains to the network and will be control not only the authentication of the network, but access to
the storage servers as well.
Both the XSL and Novell servers not only be replace, but instead of having these systems in two
locations they will be moved to the Delmar location which will provide a central location for
server management. This will cut down on the down to have Network admins at both sites
which in turn also saves Kudler Fine Foods money. The other benefit to moving the server to a
central location is that it will provide an easier maintenance program. Instead of going to two
different sites now the servers can be serviced at one location. The last and final problem on the
network is the UPS power unit installed at all sites. At this point this may provide enough power
to the take care of the current network infrastructure, but this will not work for the new network
design. This is vital to the network because, If a computer is not receiving a consistent flow of
electricity, damage can and often does occur. (Fisher). Providing a redundant power supply will be
vital to the network because having the ability to operate when power goes out will make sure that
no information or data is

The Way Of The Dragon By Bruce Lee
Legend
By reading, Fighting Spirit, Eurasians and watching the movie the Way of the dragon. You can
see that Bruce Lee s took much pride in the way he thought about things when it came to race,
gender and sexuality. We can see how Bruce Lee s life and career reveal the Issues of race, gender
and sexuality.
In the book Eurasians you can see that there are a lot of factors that play into the how they were
treated in the U.S Bruce Lee was Eurasian and was an excellent spokesperson for helping Eurasian
to acclaimed in the U.S. Bruce looked at race, gender and sexuality. Although the book is not
about Bruce Lee s life only, it has a lot to do with Bruce s morals and how he was expose to
things that went on in his life and what he had to deal with when he came to the U.S. When
looking at race Eurasian is a mixture of Europe and Asian people.
They had relationships and they had kids. This relates to Bruce because hit mother was apart of
this. According to the book Eurasians they looked at people from two different cultures
combining to make one whole new culture. Early in the formation of the American republic there
emerged a compelling vision of the nation as a place where a new American race (Teng, P.33) if
you were able to look at the big picture then you would be able to see that with the two races
mixing to form one it only help and did not hurt people.
Not only did this Idea affect Bruce it also had an impact on generations to come. For example

The Theory Of Free Will
Free Will Jacob Arminius was born in 1560 and died in 1690. Although Arminius originally began
his learned career as a follower of Calvin s teachings, his interpretation of scripture eventually
brought him in direct contrast to Calvin s. While Arminius is not credited with developing the
doctrine of free will, his name has become synonymous with it. Likewise, the movement he inspired
became synonymous with anti Calvinism. Arminianismmaintains that the Bible does in fact
communicate the message of predestination. However, Arminianism conveys that God by way of
His foreknowledge was able to look into the future and observe who would choose Him God then
predestined them. Moreover, Jesusgave Himself a ransom for all, literally. As a... Show more

The major sticking point with this theory is that free will allows mankind to make a choice either
accept the gift of salvation or reject it.
As mentioned before, there is agreement between the two camps of thought regarding
predestination and election being taught in the Bible. Clearly, where the difference lies is in the
interpretation. Those backing the free will doctrine believe that God, by way of foreknowledge
knows who will and will not be saved. However, He does not interfere with free will and does not
predestine the outcome. Instead, the predestined or elect are those that He knows ahead of time
will make the choice to accept the gift of salvation. In order for one to accept the gift of salvation
there are certain conditions set forth by God in Scripture that one must meet. For example, Luke
states,
While God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, now he commands all people
everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will have the world judged in
righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given assurance to all by
raising him from the dead. (Acts 17:30 31)
One of the conditions set forth by God in Scripture is that people must repent. The two camps of
thought are also at odds regarding whom benefits from the sacrifice of Christ. Universal Atonement
implies that Christ gave himself a ransom for all. The Apostle Paul says as much in 1Timothy,
This is right and is

The Definition Of Global Citizenship
Global Citizenship
In viewing the video Globalization: What Is Happening to us (2010). It is obvious why global
citizenship should be a must for all people. Modern technology has allowed us to communicate
and stay in touch with people all over the world including those dear to us like friends and family.
Advanced technology is a norm in today society whether you like it or not. All information now of
days is passed through advanced technology. It allows us to keep up with people and their culture
and norms. In social service field, it is crucial that I understand and able to communicate with my
clients. On the internet, I can research cultures and their norms. It is vital to learn differently about
other culture to better serve and communicate with them. It can be persuasively argued that
effective care is impossible without a working knowledge and understanding of a person s or
groups cultures ns background (NASW, n.d.).
Disagreement between Theorist
There is variations definition of global citizenship; the words are interchangeable with each other.
A theorist can each have their own high opinion regarding global citizenship. My definition of
global citizenship is that we are responsible to this world. People are responsible for human, human
rights, cultural and diversity. People are responsible for connecting the world, cultures, and people
with each other. Responsible for advocating for the world and its problem of others.

Voices From A Culture Summary
While reading п»їп»їп»їDeaf in Americaп»їп»ї: Voices From A Culture п»
їп»їп»їп»їп»їп»їп»їI
notice the purpose of this book was to wrote about Deaf people in a new and different way. The
book main focus is that Deafп»ї people have a condition that they can t hear. The culture of Deaf
people is what both authors want to begin yo betray. What I found interesting while reading is that
the majority of indidivauls within the community of Deaf people do not join it at birth. While
reading these chapters I ve seen both auhtors try to present the culture from the inside to discover
how Deaf people describe themselves and how they think about their lives.
In chapter 1, two Deaf sisters Helen and Vicki were interviwed by Carol. Their interview stood out
to be the most in the chapter because it showed children spend their time learning what things are
supposed to mean. As Carol interviewed the two Deaf sisters and they both argued about Michael
being deaf or hearing it made me question why they both had a different answer if their both deaf.
Also when Vicki mentioned Michael being Deaf and hearing I noticed you can;t be Deaf and
hearing. I also noticed that children are often wrong for the most intertesting reasons and right for
reasons we never expect. This was interesting because when Vicki reaches her older sister age she
will be better undertanding and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. The Young Heroine In A White Heron By Sarah Orne Jewett The Young Heroine Countless stories of heroes and heroines have all followed the same cycle from beginning to end of a hero s life. The cycle starts from a certain event affecting the hero s life leading them on a quest that is typically filled with some form of adventure. The hero is equipped for the quest with a type of power or aid from the supernatural to help them face trials to further prove themselves. Once the hero completes the quest, they experience either physical or metaphorical death and are rewarded greatly. According to Griffith, A White Heron by Sarah Orne Jewett fits the hero archetype from the main character being sent on a quest full of trials to the reward of the quest s completion. In the story, A White Heron, the reader is introduced to the main character, Sylvia. Her quest begins when she meets a man who is lost within the nearby forest and is in need of a place to stay for the night. Sylvia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, throughout the story, Sylvia battles with the decision of whether to provide the hunter the location of the white heron or not. She faces many temptations of her desire to impress the hunter and to also gain his reward of ten dollars. Griffith also describes in his analysis how Sylvia faces a trial when she climbs the pine tree to find the white heron s nest. The journey is described as difficult in the beginning, but nature is impressed by her determination and allows her an easier passage. • 3. Moral, Ethical, And Ethical Theories Moral and Ethical theories often conflict with one another. It is hardly ever true that both theories agree with one another. Same is the case for Jean and Pierre. Following the four basic principles of Act Utilitarianism, Rule Utilitarianism, Social Contract Theory, and Kantianism his actions will be discussed in the following paper. Examining his actions, he was in favor of following the moral instinct of Utilitarianism more than any other theory. Rule utilitarianism is a branch of utilitarianism that suggests an action is ethical if it follows the rule of greatest good. It is a moral rule that most people follow due to its greater benefits. It is a rule to judges people based on their actions, which follow the universal moral principles to result in greatest happiness. In this scenario, Jean s actions are judged which involves hacking into the networking system, impersonating a doctor, and saving his nephew s life. Of all these three acts saving the life of child provides the greatest good. Although, his act in unethical, but his pure intentions and the severity of allergic reaction makes it morally ethical to breach network security and prescribe a drug by impersonating a doctor. Therefore, I believe rule utilitarianism provides a moral obligation to save a life of a child over hacking into the networking systems and following the laws. Similarly, act utilitarianism is another branch of utilitarianism stating that a person s act is morally correct if the total ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Old Earth, Or Progressive Creationism Old earth, or progressive creationism shares similarities with theistic evolution in that it places the age of the earth at 4 5 billion years ago and the universe at 10 20 billion years ago. However, they are not satisfied with the claim that God guided evolution brought the world into existence, eventually arriving at the world we live in today. Robert C. Newman, an astrophysicist and New Testament professor acknowledges that it would be possible for God to use evolution as a creation tool, just as it is possible that God created solely through supernatural means. However, he thinks that there are too many unanswered questions left for both positions. It is from this conviction that Newman places himself in the progressive creationist camp. This view is named such because it sees creation as occurring in a progression with various levels which built upon one another, using a combination of supernatural intervention and providential guidance to harmonize the histories found in both the biblical account of Genesis and the scientific account we find in nature. Newman is quick to point out that there are many variations of the old earth creationist position. Of these, however, he finds three main varieties, which differ primarily in their views on the nature of the days of the creation week. These three categories are: (1) The day age view. As implied by the title, this view considers the days to be chronological, but not 24 hour periods. Rather, they are long spans of time, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The amount of diversity we have in the United States causes us to have cultural sensitivity on our public programs which could be positive or negative. Having cultural sensitivity on public programming can help people acknowledge and accept other ethnicities but, a negative aspect of cultural sensitivity is over accommodating toward people of these other ethnicities and acting different toward them. Racial and cultural awareness starts when children are infants and toddlers. At that age, children learn what is me and what is not me (Biles, Barbara). After a workshop session on cultural awareness, I was asked, Does this really matter? Will adding skin tone crayons make a difference in children s lives? When analyzing the influence of the Old English poem, it is important to understand Tolkien s perspective on the poem which explains why it had such a major impact on his life and his writing. In his piece Beowulf: The Monsters and the Critics Tolkien explains that his love for the poem is based upon the style and beauty of the poem. He states that Beowulf should be known world wide due to how the monster s and dragons are depicted, or its everlasting quality. In his final paragraph Tolkien tosses aside the historical value that the poem has, or the fact that it was written at such an early time in history. He instead explains that it would still have power had it been written in some time or place unknown and without posterity, if it contained no name that could now be recognized (Tolkien 20). This passage summarize his thesis that Beowulf s importance is often misrepresented. Tolkien s inspiration and passion for the poem comes from how it s preserved from a day already changing and passing, a time that has now for ever vanished, swallowed in oblivion (Tolkien 20). How Fear Causes the Destruction of Civilization Fear is unique, and can manifest itself in many different ways, like nightmares, or uncertainty before doing an activity that is risky. For many, when the word fear is said to them, they think of their worst fears, such as clowns, ghosts, heights, and what not. Yet, on an island on which a plane full of boys crash lands, some uncommon fears lead to total destruction of civilization. In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, it it evident that fearcan and will eventually tear down the walls of civilization. It all starts when a plane crash lands into the trees of a lost island. The survivors soon meet up one by one along the shore of the island, and it is noteworthy that they are all boys, from the age range of six to twelve years. At once each boy develops their own characteristics with Ralph as their leader, Piggy being the brainiac, Jack the hunter, and many other littluns and bigguns . However, all is not well for too long, as their stay on the island continues, the boys become more savage like, due to their fears. The different terrors these boys encounter lead to despicable actions, including two brutal murders. William Golding shows that fear, of all kinds, can lead to the destruction of civilization. Rules are a fundamental part of society because they provide physical and emotional safety, the fear of them will undeniably destruct civilization. In the beginning, an almost unanimous vote decides that Ralph shall be the chief, and with that role he has some implicit rules for everyone. These few rules include the use of the conch in order to speak, bathroom use in specific areas, a bright fire at all times, and the construction of shelters. Jack and the choir boys disregard his few rules one by one, and begin to turn away from Ralph. Since these rules are the key factors to not only survival but rescue as well, Ralph fears and reminds the boys about them. Eventually, after being in disagreement about what the most important measures are for survival, a rebellion stirs among Jack and the hunters with Ralph. • 40. Descriptive Essay On The Desert The hot, arid air burned into my soul as I faced the barren desert surrounding me. My family and I were on a long awaited vacation to the Grand Canyon, yet we had to drive over 15 hours I radiated impatience throughout the journey. Walls of heat shrouded me as I gasped for air my efforts were fruitless, however, swallowing nothing but fire. As the fire in my lungs grew, I looked out the window and into the looming suns heart. Suddenly, my eyes collapsed and tears engulfed them till they took their true form; a forest blanketed with soft, gleaming snow. However, I was evoked from my reverie by a vehement cry and I was staring into the eyes of tattered vultures, of every discrepancy, who recited a prophecy only I could hear. Who dares enter our land! they screeched in a dissonant manner. Trembling, I gazed at the sun and was standing amidst a perpetual desert the vultures eyes glued to me. I froze with fear, though the sun baked my skin. A meal for today, the vultures rasped flamboyantly, cooked to a crisp! Uh, I sighed, I couldn t wait 10 minutes to save me from you repulsive demons! I woke up like a corpse rises from the grave, my red eyes flooded with tears. The cool air lulled my throat; dissipating the faint memory of a raging fire and loathsome vultures scavenging my flesh. As the tears coated my face, I sat up until a symphony of cracks sang from my spine. Despite the agonizing pain, I turned around and the world revealed itself as a contemporary ... • 41. Reflection On Early Learning This reflection reviews my time at Goodstart Early Learning in Kyneton and the four weeks I spent there during my first practicum round. The review will critically reflect my experience from this practicum, using readings and learnings my strengthens and weaknesses will be revealed. Strategies will also be implemented in what areas I need to focus on before my next practicum round. Something that I observed at the beginning of my practicum were the issues concerning behavioural guidance. There was a group of four boys who required the greatest assistance, my experience in managing people and being a parent quickly reminded me in how to best support them. Knowing each child and what their abilities and interests are enable educators to respond sensitively and appropriately to each child (Cohrssen, Church, Tayler, 2011). I spoke with my mentor and other educators and discovered the backgrounds of these boys and reasonings for their behaviours. I learnt by observing the other educators how these behavioural guidance issues were managed and the many techniques they used. Something I realised with the learning experiences I conducted was the need to not speak too quickly and be clear and concise with my instructions. As I have had limited interaction with young children as my stepchildren are now adults, I was unaccustomed in how to effectively communicate with young children. At the beginning of my practicum the instructions and direction I was attempting to provide were too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

About seventy five percent of the United States truck are custom cabs. This means that they are not regular car brands. Some brands of American trucks are Rosenbauer, E ONE, and Pierce. A reason for using custom cabs is because they can make trucks bigger in America because of the larger roads. The United States ladder trucks have a lot of uses. They have equipment for rescuing people, ventilation, and fire suppression which is actually putting out the fire. European trucks are very different from American trucks. Their trucks are ninety five percent commercial cabs so, their trucks are brands like Mercedes or Volvo. They use these brands because they make smaller and more compact trucks for their smaller roads. Unlike the American ladder truck, the Europeans don t have many with pumps or tanks. • 43. Kff Network Upon reviewing Kudler Fine Food network, it has been determined that a major network overhaul will need to be conducted to make sure that Kudler is brought up to speed with the latest technology. This is very important because if Kudler is unable to keep up with the technological advances then the company will fall behind. Making sure that Kudler is not only able to keep up with the advances with network systems it is also important to install the proper systems so that no money is wasted. What is meant by this is that if the improper systems and storage units are installed to only handle data over the next year this is only going to force Kudler to spend more money in upgrades in the future. This is why it is vital to install the proper... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These systems will be replaced with one the recent releases of Microsoft Server to provide the support needed for the new network. These systems are important to the network as they are the brains to the network and will be control not only the authentication of the network, but access to the storage servers as well. Both the XSL and Novell servers not only be replace, but instead of having these systems in two locations they will be moved to the Delmar location which will provide a central location for server management. This will cut down on the down to have Network admins at both sites which in turn also saves Kudler Fine Foods money. The other benefit to moving the server to a central location is that it will provide an easier maintenance program. Instead of going to two different sites now the servers can be serviced at one location. The last and final problem on the network is the UPS power unit installed at all sites. At this point this may provide enough power to the take care of the current network infrastructure, but this will not work for the new network design. This is vital to the network because, If a computer is not receiving a consistent flow of electricity, damage can and often does occur. (Fisher). • 45. The Theory Of Free Will Free Will Jacob Arminius was born in 1560 and died in 1690. Although Arminius originally began his learned career as a follower of Calvin s teachings, his interpretation of scripture eventually brought him in direct contrast to Calvin s. While Arminius is not credited with developing the doctrine of free will, his name has become synonymous with it. Likewise, the movement he inspired became synonymous with anti Calvinism. Arminianismmaintains that the Bible does in fact communicate the message of predestination. However, Arminianism conveys that God by way of His foreknowledge was able to look into the future and observe who would choose Him God then predestined them. Moreover, Jesusgave Himself a ransom for all, literally. As a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The major sticking point with this theory is that free will allows mankind to make a choice either accept the gift of salvation or reject it. As mentioned before, there is agreement between the two camps of thought regarding predestination and election being taught in the Bible. Clearly, where the difference lies is in the interpretation. Those backing the free will doctrine believe that God, by way of foreknowledge knows who will and will not be saved. However, He does not interfere with free will and does not predestine the outcome. Instead, the predestined or elect are those that He knows ahead of time will make the choice to accept the gift of salvation. In order for one to accept the gift of salvation there are certain conditions set forth by God in Scripture that one must meet. For example, Luke states, While God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will have the world judged in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead. (Acts 17:30 31) One of the conditions set forth by God in Scripture is that people must repent. The two camps of thought are also at odds regarding whom benefits from the sacrifice of Christ. Universal Atonement implies that Christ gave himself a ransom for all. The Apostle Paul says as much in 1Timothy, This is right and is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book main focus is that Deafп»ї people have a condition that they can t hear. The culture of Deaf people is what both authors want to begin yo betray. What I found interesting while reading is that the majority of indidivauls within the community of Deaf people do not join it at birth. While reading these chapters I ve seen both auhtors try to present the culture from the inside to discover how Deaf people describe themselves and how they think about their lives. In chapter 1, two Deaf sisters Helen and Vicki were interviwed by Carol. Their interview stood out to be the most in the chapter because it showed children spend their time learning what things are supposed to mean. As Carol interviewed the two Deaf sisters and they both argued about Michael being deaf or hearing it made me question why they both had a different answer if their both deaf. Also when Vicki mentioned Michael being Deaf and hearing I noticed you can;t be Deaf and hearing. I also noticed that children are often wrong for the most intertesting reasons and right for reasons we never expect. This was interesting because when Vicki reaches her older sister age she will be better undertanding and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
