On My Dear Grandchild Simon Bradstreet
On My Dear Grandchild Simon Bradstreet, Who Died on 16 November 1669, being but a Month, and
One Day Old, is about the death of poet Anne Bradstreet s grandchild. She personifies God as a
gardener whom harvests the grandson Simon and his two sisters. She seems to find ways to
understand the situation and remain true to her faith. The internal conflict in Bradstreet s poem is to
retain her trust and faith while accepting the tragedy of her grandchild. Bradstreet struggles with the
loss of her faith in God by hiding her feelings but she eventually accepts the loss the loved ones as
being a part of God s plan. Bradstreet uses the term cropped to explain how God plants us a seed but
eventually dies. Due to the short period of Simon Bradstreet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Exhibit 5.10 Analysis
The main theme of the handbill illustrated in Exhibit 5.10 is a message describing all the benefits that
the company can provide if employees vote no for the union. The handbill is very captivating as it
promises employees better wages, more paid time off, and additional employee perks. During a union
organizing drive, the employer will likely try to convince employees that joining a union is not in their
or the company s best interests. Union organizations, of course, will have a different message. The
mission on the union is to sell the union to the company s employees. Companies rarely ever tell
employees about the advantages of being a union member, just as Unions rarely, if ever, tell
employees about the possible disadvantages that come

Ms. Conlon Applies The Nursing Process System Or Processes...
Ms. Conlon applies the nursing process to systems or processes at the unit/team/work group level to
improve care. Deirdre has been the primary nurse for 6 hemodialysis patients. She has involved
patients and families in monthly interdisciplinary meetings to promote self efficacy and quality of life.
With the help of the interdisciplinary team Deirdre has worked collaboratively to address and
reinforce nutritional needs, social/family issues, barriers to care, and safety concerns. All of her
primary care patients have maintained a goal of 100% for dialysis adequacy (benchmark is 85%) and a
vascular access rate of 100% and dictated by KDOQI standards.
Deirdre noted a downward trend of a veteran pts access. With quick intervention the access resulted in
a patent access with better clearances for this patient, and the preservation of the dialysis access.
During the transitioning process to the new hemodialysis unit, Ms. Conlon anticipated the challenges
acquired by learning to set up and use new water equipment in an acute situation. In response to this,
Ms. Conlon created and implemented a reverse osmosis flow sheet to assist her colleagues with the
quick set up of the portable RO in the ICU care setting. This tool resulted in a smoother transition for
her colleagues, improvement in the delivery of care to the acute dialysis patient, and a decrease in the
possibility of staffing overtime.
She created a flow sheet used by the nurses to import data useful for review at

Nomads Vs Aryans
Force: a verb, which is defined as: coercion or compulsion, especially with the use or threat of
violence. Force was a key method pastoral nomads used to overthrow settled communities during the
Nomadic Invasions and Migrations period during 2000 to 1700 B.C.E. The pastoralists and the settled
people disagreed on many things and had very different ways of living. For example, the Aryan s,
located in Northern India, were polytheistic, while the settled people believed in only one god. Some
societies disagreed on whether farming or breeding animals was most beneficial to the prosperity of
their community. Because of variance in opinion, societies couldn t live in a unified manner one
society had to lead. Through primary sources, like the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Mesopotamia, the Babylonians (another group of pastoral nomads) invaded and conquered Sumer,
following a similar method to the Aryans. They also similarly kept laws that tied the poor and inferior
to a stake. Hammurabi, one of the kings of Babylon, went on a mission to create a list of rules for
people to follow, but in order for him to be worthy of this, Hammurabi made sure he had religious
legitimacy. He did this by portraying an image of himself next to the Shamash, god of light and
prosperity, to show that he was worthy of this god s attention. Hammurabi completely glorified
himself. Furthermore, he thought of himself as fair and revolutionary, which is why there was so much
appeal to his name. Some laws that he created benefitted society, but other laws were made to benefit
the indigenous people really just kept them in their boxes. If he has broken another seignior s bone,
they shall break his bone. If he has destroyed the eye of a commoner or broken the bone of a
commoner, he shall pay one mina of silver. If he has destroyed the eye of a seignior s slave or broken
the bone of a seignior s slave, he shall pay one half his value. 3This was another method that, in
Hammurabi s eyes, kept people where they belonged. Even though

Sociological Aspects Of Social Psychology
Social Psychology
According to Gordon Allport , social psychology is an attempt to understand and explain how the
thought, feeling, and behavior of individuals is influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied
presence of others. (Allport, 1954)
There are two differing branches when referring to social psychology:
1. The sociological aspect of social psychology, which was mainly developed in Europe as a
subdivision of sociology.
2. The psychological aspect of social psychology, which was developed in the US
The differences between the two divisions are, that the sociological way of viewing social psychology
focusses more on group interaction, group processes, while the psychological aspects of social
psychology focusses more on the individual and how the individual is influenced and/or behaves in
social settings.
Sociological social psychology is very theory intensive and constructs itself out of
geisteswissenschaften (sciences of the spirit) and social sciences. Corresponding approaches are i.e.
critical theories, which also include psychoanalytical ideas. Some of the more notable sociological
psychologists include Sigmund Freud, Erich Fromm and Wilhelm Reich.
Coming back to the psychological branch of social psychology, we see its intentions lies in an attempt
to understand and explain how the thought, feelings and behavior of individuals are influenced by the
actual, imagined, or implied presence of others (Allport, The Person in Psychology, 1968)

What Is A Lie Essay
The lie.
I mean the lie is the first sin we commit. As children, we often learn always to tell the truth. However,
there is an opportunity in life when we are taking the first steps toward a lie: to avoid a punishment, to
achieve a goal, to adapt to a situation, or to enhance our status. It is for this reason that the lies are so
close to us.
There are different levels of lies, and none of them is okay, not even the white little lie. A white lie is a
lie that offers consolation and a false belief of security. The best cover up of the lie is the absence of
truth. The absence of truth is a lie that is harder to see through but to defraud, and omission of
information as a tool to fool us from the truth is a lie straight through.
One of the main features of people who defraud information or omit the truth is that they are
constantly on the defensive. Because of this, they do not want to collaborate and have few
explanations for why they should be perceived as trustworthy, and they are trying to ... Show more

Do not let the lies control your deeds and actions in a given situation. Instead, allow the truth to
prevail. Sure, the truth hurts, but the truth hurts once while the lie hurts forever. I do not like lies that
are comforting me or a half truth. I prefer reality, even if it hurts.
It does not matter how painful the truth is. It offers us an opportunity to strengthen our ability to make
decisions, analyse things, and determine our emotional and cognitive identity.
What does the truth give? It gives you confidences, self esteem, and respect. To others, it provides
integrity, authenticity, and an opportunity for a free choice.
Keep in mind that honesty is the most important thing in life when dealing with other people.
Therefore, always be honest because it is the only way to grow the integrity of the relationship and

Administration Is Poorly Or Carelessly Done
administration is poorly or carelessly done (e. g., starting meetings late can discourage some of the
most effective people from coming another time, vagueness about the agenda creates disorder in the
people s minds and often in the progress of the meetings, and failure to plan results in drifting).
Therefore, it benefits the preacher in charge and all of those associated with him/her, to plan and
execute the plan wisely. The end results of the planning may strengthen persons and groups in their
abilities, attitudes, habits, fellowship, and spiritual understanding and dedication. The record of the
past, recent, or distant holds no special comfort for this moment, except that the record suggests that
there is in our midst a viable, stable vehicle that can be successfully utilized. It will not come by
praying, and preaching, and singing alone. It must come by employing the instruments, skills, and
expertise of the administrative body under the direction of its black preacher to make his witness that
we are, indeed, sons and daughters of the Father. Taking into account the fact that many pastors are
not trained administrators, Howell continues to advocate that the Black Preacher s administrative roles
and expectations are plural in numbers. When the pastor s various administrative duties are listed and
grouped into meaningful classifications, the many roles begin to become clear. The following is a list
of these administrative roles using the acronym D.O.C.T.O.R., with a

Pathogenesis of Cervical Cancer

Introduction
According to the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health (2011), cervical cancer
becomes the tenth commonest cancer in Hong Kong in 2008. Cervical cancer usually arises from
sexual activity and human papillomavirus (HPV) (Bellentir, 2002). In this essay, Human
papillomavirus would be further discussed. For example, the signal transport pathway of HPV 16 and
HPV 18, which many scientists believe that they are closely related of causing cervical cancer, as well
as the HPV vaccine and chemotherapy of cervical cancer, would be discussed.

IL 6 Induce Angiogenesis and Tumor Growth
In the cervical cancer cell, VEGF and interleukin 6(IL 6) are commonly found. IL 6 is used to
stimulate the immune response at first. But some research reveals that IL 6 accelerates the tumor
growth and formation of micro vascular network of red blood cell. IL 6 is a kind of pro inflammatory
cytokine which secreted by T cells and macrophages. IL 6 would activate VEGF dependent

which located on cell surface, it triggers the complex signal pathway, causes the division of
endothelial cell and secretion of matrix metalloproteinase (MMPs). In the cervical cancer cell, MMP 2
and MMP 9 play the important roles on tumor invasion and metastasis. MMP 2 acts as a proteinase for

In The Weirdo by Theodore Taylor, Aunt Peaches behaves in a very privileged manner. For example,
she is obviously a character who has a lot money because she can afford a trip to Paris. This shows
that she is used to a lavish lifestyle. She probably takes a lot of vacations to faraway places because
she can afford it. This proves that her lifestyle is very different than Sam s. Sam lives on a farm and
doesn t take fancy vacations like Peaches. Sam is even shown being jealous of Peaches by saying, Just

Essay on Westward Expansion
Book Review Westward Expansion 1807 1880
THESIS:
After the War of 1812 much of America s attention turned to exploration and settlement of its territory
to the West, which had been greatly enlarged by the Louisiana Purchase.
SUMMARY:
Families of pioneers swept westward and founded new communities throughout what is now the
Midwest, and between 1816 and 1821, six new states were admitted to the Union.
The land boom was fed by encouragement from the federal government and the actions of land
speculators, who bought up large tracts of land in order to sell it in parcels to farmers at exorbitant
prices. These farmers did not mind high prices and high interest on loans due to the growing success
of American agricultural products. Most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The canal and railroad systems, which grew up in the North, facilitated a much larger volume of trade
and manufacturing while reducing costs a great deal. Great cities sprang up throughout the North and
Northwest, bolstered by the improvement in transportation.
After the Midwest had been substantially developed, the national focus turned toward the far west.
The territory of Texas, controlled by the Spanish, was settled by Americans, who eventually undertook
the Texas Rebellion in efforts to win independence. When the United States admitted Texas to the
Union in 1845, the Mexican government was outraged, and from 1846 to 1848, the two nation s
squared off in the Mexican War. With a resounding victory, the United States gained control of Texas,
New Mexico, and California. The Oregon territory was annexed in 1846 as well, and the US
controlled the land all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
As the population of the West soared and the prospects of statehood for western territories appeared
clearer and clearer, the nation battled over the future of slavery in the West. This battle was one reason
for the Civil War, which slowed the acceleration of expansion. However, the last three decades of the
nineteenth century saw the return of accelerating expansion due to the successful struggle to contain
the Plains Indians in reservations, and the completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1869. By the

Comparison Of Stonehenge And Paganism
Stonehenge and Paganism A lot of scientific interpretations of Stonehenge that are proposed by
archaeologists are often at war , so to speak, with other archaeological interpretations by faith
communities. One of these particular arguments is that Paganism is not considered to be a real
religion, like that of Christianity or the Islamic faith. Paganism is not widely practiced in the United
States like it is over in the UK and other European countries. Stonehenge has been connected in one
way or another to the religion of Paganism.
Building of Stonehenge Stonehenge was built in the Neolithic early Bronze Age era. The human race
did not settle in the area of Wiltshire until around 4,000 BCE 3,000 BCE (Cusack 2012). According to
Fagan, local farmers built a simple enclosure (Cusack 2012). There are five stones, which consist of
the Heel Stone that is located outside of the north eastern entrance. The Slaughter Stone, which lies
flat on the east side of the entranceway, is considered to be part of a pair that could have created an
entrance. The final two Station Stones are located in the bank (Cusack 2012). Over the few hundred
years, more timber monuments were built, possibly to assist in the purpose of Stonehenge. Many
archaeologists have disputed over the phases of not only the construction of Stonehenge but also the
chronology of Stonehenge as well as the possibilities of what it was used for (Cusack 2012). Some
people have thought of Stonehenge as being some kind of

An Outline On Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
a. The parts I read from Whitman s Song of Myself are very interesting because right off the bat,
Whitman informs his audience that he is writing this long epic poem about himself. His work shapes
what it means to be an American. He discusses all different kinds of people and places and tries to find
unity that forms positive relationships. To him, everything is good if it is contributing to the larger
good in some way. His poem was controversial because he lacks any sort of filter. His contemporary
poem was written about himself for his readers. He depicts all the confusion of the American ideal and
emphasizes independence, equality, optimism and love.
b. Song of Myself consists of the following main points:
i. Whitman is viewing himself as a part ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studying nature is more important than studying books or philosophy vii. Everyone is like him in
some way, and everyone is a part of society. viii. He does not believe in excluding anyone. ix. The self
is above all else.
x. He reiterates that everything is connected and at peace in unity.
c. This selection is an influential reading about you. The poem discusses what it means to be an
American. It was relevant when it was written because it was right before the Civil War. Whitman
wanted unity and peace then, just as we need now. This poem is relevant each and every day because
as humans, we are so quick to judge. By reading Whitman s poem, we can see the value in avoiding
judgment and promoting happiness.
2. Responses
a. After reading the book s biography about Walt Whitman, I learned he came from a large family. By
fifteen, he was already working in the printing trade but after a fire, he returned to Long Island with
his family. I also learned he is one of America s most significant 19th century poets, even though he
received limited formal education. He self published Leaves of Grass which was edited countless
times during his lifetime.

Life Of A Multi Sport Athlete
There is a time in the life of a busy multi sport athlete (and especially the longer, time constrained,

can only support high volume training, proper performance, and immune system strength for a limited

Historical Themes of Garcia Marquez s One Hundred Years of Solitude
Garcia Marquez has said that One Hundred Years of Solitude is not a history of Latin America, it is a
metaphor for Latin America (Dreifus 1983:1974). The historical themes include conquest and
colonization, settlement and scientific discovery, civil wars, foreign economic intervention,
technological change, and finally the decay and disappearance of a long established way of life.
The original Spanish conquest is alluded to when, in the first chapter, Jose Arcadio Buendia finds an

Twenty was probably chosen in this instance because Garcia Marquez wanted a smooth, flowing

An important omission from Garcia Marquez s metaphorical history of Latin America is the savagely
cruel wars for independence, which last from 1810 to (in Colombia) 1819. We can assume then that
these wars are already over by the time Macondo is founded, so that this fictional act corresponds to
developments in about 1820 1825 in the country s real history. This primitive stage of Macondo is also
a time of innocence, a psychological theme important in the book.
The arrival of Melquiades and his gypsy band, with their navigational instruments, magnifying glass,
and so forth, is a metaphor for the beginning of technical and scientific awareness, which would have
reached towns like Macondo some time between 1830 and 1860. In real history, the bearers of this
new knowledge would probably not have been gypsies but itinerant professors and self proclaimed
physicians (such a quack does show up in Macondo, a disguised terrorist madman who tries to spur
the youth to violence). Banana company symbolic.

causes people to not live in the moment, it causes people to not interact face to face, and it causes loss
of basic motor skills. People have become overly dependent on technology by not being able to live in
the moment anymore. For instance, people who are watching a performance are most likely to be on
their phones posting pictures about it on social media. As stated by Huffington Post, According to T
Mobile, 47 percent of any guided audience text others during a show, while 32 percent engage in
social media during a show (Silva 2014). To advance further, a large phone network is saying that a
percentage of an audience are not paying attention to the performance and instead are busy on their
devices. By being on their phones they are not enjoying the show and are missing a once in a lifetime
opportunity. People who miss these experiences with friends or family, will regret it

Essay about Nature’s Influence on the War of 1812
Nature s Influence on the War of 1812
Mother Nature played a part in every event in history, including the War of 1812. The War of 1812
was a conflict between the United States of America and Great Britain that had been building for
many years. By the end of the war however there was no clear victor and the issues that caused the
conflict were never resolved. Nature played a crucial role in the outcome. Because of humanity s
natural strive for power, the living and fighting conditions of the soldiers, and the geographical layout
of the countries involved, nature was a driving force during the War of 1812.
Hunger and greed are a part of human nature as much, if not more than, any other emotion. The

This alliance increased the tension between the British and the Americans.
The Americans had been trying to convert the Indians to farmers so they could take over their hunting
land, and the American public was concerned that if the British supplied the Indians with weapons it
would incite dangerous riots and revolts. To make matters worse for the American the Indians were
being led by Chief Tecumseh who wished to unite all of the Indians into essentially one tribe to assist
in their fight for land. This would have most likely been successful had his brother known as The
Prophet led the Indians into battle against William Henry Harrison s army at the Battle of Tippecanoe
which led to the massacre of Indians Tecumseh had been away negotiating at the time and returned to
find his work completely undone, so he joined what little forces he had left with the British. Tecumseh
was killed at the Battle of Moraviantown on the Thames River.1
Not only were the Indians involved in the battle between the British and Americans. Also during this
time period it seemed that the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte could not keep his influence out
of any international business. In 1806 Napoleon forced the neutral trading ships going through
Europe, mainly the American ones, to choose between Britain and France. The American ships did not
appreciate this and responded with a blockade leading to the

Weight Training Workout Program
If you want to really concentrate on body building, weight training is an important part of your
workout program. Weight training in body building is a very huge part of any exercise regimen, but
itís not the only part. However, when you have a strong weight training plan, your body building goals
become easier to achieve.
In order to work certain muscle groups, you need to lift weights that will provide resistance to those
areas. As you start your weight training body building program, remember to start small and work
your way up. That means start out with a weight that is difficult to lift, but you are able to do it with
some effort. As that weight gets easier to lift, add more. The idea is to build up slowly so you donít

Yellow Journalism After The Revolutionary War
It is journalism without soul. Yellow journalism, more commonly defined as news that has been
slightly altered in order to invoke emotion and response from its readers, became popular in the late
1890s. After the sinking of the U.S.S Maine, a United States Navy ship, Joseph Pulitzer and William
Randolph Hearst saw an opportunity to grow their own newspaper empire, specifically featuring
yellow journalism in the headlines. Originally, President McKinley did not want to have a war with
Spain, but with pressure from the public, he was forced into it. Although yellow press did invoke
emotion from its American readers, causing them to want action done in Cuba, historians fail to

Before Spain declared war on April 25, 1898, the United States government believed that Spain was
about to withdraw from Cuba, worked hard for more time to prevent war. But, with the news of the

become a reality; America declared war on the Spanish on April 25, 1898, just after they had declared
war on the United States. Even in the war McKinley focused on the desire to maintain constant
pressure on Spain in the hopes of facing an early end to the war and also hoped to end it quickly at the

Phd In Computational Engineering Statement
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE PhD in Computational Engineering??
In this mighty world many blabber about their dreams, but who identified their paths and persistently
stuck on their words are the few ones, who are known famous to the world. Being remained unknown
would be my greatest regret. My path to chase my dreams is Mechanical Engineering, for a proud
mechanical engineer can say, When we rest, the world rusts!
I have had a special interest in mechanical engineering since my childhood, as I grew up watching my
father develop complicated equipment for power plants. Hence, I opted for a mechanical engineering
course for my UG program. The concept of computational science and engineering which uses
numerical approaches to characterize, predict and simulate physical events and engineering systems
using the laws of mechanics fascinated me. To understand their advanced methodologies, I have
pursued a Master s degree in CAD/CAM from VIT .
The courses in my PG program included Finite element methods, Applied engineering mathematics,
Advanced stress analysis, Advanced strength of materials, Advanced vibration engineering,
Computational methods in heat and fluid flow etc. which gave me a greater knowledge in mechanical
and mathematical field. As a part of my Master s degree internship ... Show more content on

Technology And Information Warfare During World War II
Warfare Will Be Determined By Electronic Means In A Few Decades, Either On The Ground Or In
Cyber Space. Since the end of World War II, the instruments of war have been completely upgraded
during the war; from motorization to mechanization. The powerful attack capability of mechanized
troops was fully demonstrated during World War II. Thus, the degree of mechanization in the army
became an important indicator to measure a country s defense capabilities. This standard has become a
popular standard in the world, in the subsequent several decades. Until 1991, the result of the first
Gulf War once again shocked the world. People first time realized the importance of battlefield
information. The United States and its allies with a strong communication capabilities and
reconnaissance capabilities won an overwhelming victory in the war. Information technology and
information warfare thus become the new trend of military development. Therefore, information
battlefield will undoubtedly become the mainstream in the next few decades; information supremacy
will be the most important determining factor in the future. This essay will briefly review the previous
researches; it attempts to provide a common definition of information warfare. Then, it will describe
the characteristics of information warfare; the essay will look at the actual examples in the world.
Finally, the essay will discuss and analysis the influence of information warfare and the development

Disappearance Of Bees Essay
Background Information
Bees are disappearing because people are using harmful fertilizers. 25% of the managed bee
population has dropped since 1990. The use of these harmful pesticides can cause a hive of bees to
collapse. This is known as colony collapse disorder (CCD). The impact of bees disappearing on the
environment is not having enough food. Bees and other pollinators have a role in pollinating one out
of every three bites of food you eat. Without bees to spread seeds, many plants, including food crops,
would die off.
Neonicotinoids are most commonly used insecticide in the U.S. They are also an insecticide that kills
bees. The insecticides are applied to seeds before they are planted. They stay with the the plant as they
grow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the late 1990s, beekeepers around the world have observed the mysterious and sudden
disappearance of bees, and report unusually high rates of decline in honeybee colonies. Bees do more
than just make honey! Bee transfer pollen and seeds from one flower to another, fertilizing the plant so
it can grow and produce food. Cross pollination helps at least 30 percent of the world s crops and 90%
affects our food. The sweet fruits humans eat such as, strawberries, mangoes, grapes, apples, and
bananas would not be the same taste wise as they are now. We simply couldn t live in the same world
if it weren t for the bees.
Conclusion Before we started researching this project we didn t know how important bees are to our
environment. In general, we can help solve this problem in our environment by limiting the use of
pesticides. Creating regulations and laws limiting and controlling the use of neonicotinoid and
coumaphos pesticides would greatly help the bees population. We can also reward farmers for
practices that help wild bee populations thrive, such as leaving habitat for bees in their surrounding
fields, alternating crops so bees have food all year long, and not using harmful

The Pearl Symbolism Essay
The short novel The Pearl by John Steinbeck is based on an old folktale and is about a man named
Kino, his wife named Juana, their baby named Coyotito, and the struggle they face when Kino finds
the pearl of the world. Steinbeck shows that materialism and greed, left unchecked, can lead to
immoral behavior through the characters of the town doctor, Kino, and the three attackers. Steinbeck
uses the doctor as a symbol to represent the materialism and greed, left unchecked, can lead to
immoral behavior. This seen when the town doctor refuses to treat the dying Coyotito. The narrator
states, Have I nothing better to do then cure insect bites for little Indians ? I am a doctor not a
veterinarian. ( ?). This shows that the doctor is too greedy to treat the baby because he knows they
have no money to pay for it. He is a doctor and should be willing to help someone, payment or no

side. ( ?) Here Kino beats up his wife in order to save a pearl that was tearing his family apart. He no
longer cares about who he hurts or what he hurts just that he gets what he is after. Another example of
Kino s greed is when is going to sell the pearl. Kino declines an offer from a pearl buyer, not because
he knows the pearl is more valuable but because he wants more money, more things, more
opportunities, and is he not willing to give that up under any circumstances. All of these show that

Most Significant Development In Human History
There are three distinctive theories of the most significant development in the human history and those
are, Olduwan tools, hunting, and fire. Even though Olduwan tools giving access and the ability for
early humans to hunt in groups, the most significant factor I believe is fire. It is because, fire gave the
ability to early humans to cook raw meats in return, gave access to better nutrition and easier ability to
break down food which helped with further evolution of human physiology.
The importance fire can first be seen in the biological standpoint. Evidence shows nutrition that the
cooked meat gave versus the raw meat through increased size of the brain. According to Adler (2013),
the human body burns energy at a significant rate for heart, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The cooked food gave the early human advantage of consume food that were easier to digest because,
the cooked food alters food in three important ways. First, it breaks starch molecules into more
digestible fragments, it denatures protein molecules, and the heat physically softens food (N.A, 2009).
This gave the early humans spend more time on doing variety of different things rather than spend
hours at a time chewing on food which won t give time to develop intelligence. Also the soft food
gave change in human structure with smaller teeth and jaws which gave more accessibility to brain
size. Another factor that increased the intelligence of early human is attempting to create a controlled
fire which further gave the ability to travel to the region that was colder than the continent of origin
Africa. The tools and hunting might have given the early humans the ability to access the food.
However, all the evidence points to the fact that the significance of fire and how it helped the early
humans to develop intelligence, consumption of food that was higher in nutrient and the ability to
travel to different region that was cold at the tide due to the ice shelfs across the Northern parts of the

What factors contribute to and/or cause this problem?
Unprotected Sex
Having unprotected sex is one of the main contributor in STDs. Although using a condom doesn t
guarantee that you won t get STDs, condoms are the best way to avoid getting infected while still
having sex.
Multiple Sexual Partners
People with multiple partners tend to choose partners with multiple partners, so each individual you
are having sex with is most likely to have an infection with someone you don t even know. It s simple
math, the more partners you have sex with, the more you will be exposed to an STD.
Having STDs
Having one STD frequently makes you more susceptible to infection by other STDs. Skin that is
irritated, inflamed, or blistered is easier for another pathogen to infect. Having an STD is also an
indirect reflection of your risk of new infection. Since you were exposed once already, it suggests that
other factors in your lifestyle may be putting you at risk.
Trading Sex for Money / Drugs
People who trade sex for money or drugs may not be sufficiently empowered to negotiate that sex be
safer sex. Furthermore, partners acquired in this manner are far more likely to be infected with STDs
than people in the general population.

THE PYRAMID OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
According to Archie Caroll, who found CSR pyramid, there are 4 aspects of Corporate Social
Responsibilities which is divided in Economic, Legal, Ethical and Philanthropic Responsibilities.
Corporate Citizens are expected to be profitable, be abiding the laws, be ethical and be charitable to
society. (Carrol, July Aug. 1991.) This pyramid reflects what the CSR is by defining the
responsibilities of the corporations in four different stages. First level is Economic responsibilities of
the corporations which refers the corporations main goal, making or being profitable. Second step
Legal Responsibilities, this stage explains how the corporations act when they do business, obey the
laws and follow the rules. Third part of the pyramid is about Ethical responsibilities of the
corporations. This step reflects being ethical. On the other word, what the right and wrong is. In
addition, Corporations should avoid unfair and non ethical actions in the society. Finally, top of the
pyramid reflects being good corporate citizen. I think, it suggests corporations should follow the laws
and rules, pay the taxes, do the right and ethical, and take care of its workers and environment. In my
opinion this pyramid reflects my exact definition about the CSR.

The Effect of the Modernization of China on Chinese Music...
The modernization of China has played a key role in the changes of popular culture in China. With
modernization, the people of China were introduced to different forms and styles of music which the
Chinese studied and incorporated into their own music. They felt that the Westernization of their
music would make it more modern. With the rise of popular music came a means of identification, and
with that, regulations to control its effect on society as a whole. And finally, the blurring of boundaries
between China and the rest of the world show the ever changing nature of the music in China.

The adoption of Western music inspired new ways of viewing music and resulted in a transformation

modeled on the perceptions that Western music equates with modernization (Lau 90). Additionally,
because many traditionalists feared that traditional Chinese music would gradually disappear due to

Lars Brownworth Lost To The West Summary
Once a Frankish king, Charlemagne was declared the ruler of the Holy Roman Empire in the West by
Pope Leo III, whom he defended in a vicious legal battle (153). This, of course, incited fury in the
East, as the Pope did not truly possess this authority, causing the divide between the Eastern and
Western Christianity to grow further and become more volatile (154). Consequently, when
Charlemagne sent a marriage proposal to Irene and Irene considered accepting, her subjects quickly
overthrew her (154).
As invaders continued to flood the Byzantine Empire, faith in Iconoclasm finally shattered and the
destruction of icons was officially condemned (158 158). Subsequently, under the rule of Emperor

Pregnancy Discrimination Act Case Study
According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, The Pregnancy Discrimination
Act (PDA) is an amendment to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Discrimination on the basis
of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions constitutes unlawful sex discrimination under
Title VII (Eeoc.gov, 2015). In 2008, this act was not obeyed in the Young v. United Parcel Service,
Inc. case. Plaintiff Peggy Young, a dedicated UPS truck driver, filed for discrimination under the
Pregnancy Discrimination Act after her manger had put her on unpaid leave while she was pregnant.
Prior to her leave, she had expressed to her manager she was instructed not to lift any heavy packages,
over 20 pounds, from there on out for obvious safety reasons. UPS also told Young that her pregnancy

occasions, however, were just that: rare. Most days I would bound down the stairs to the toaster loaded
with Pop Tarts. I would usually be disappointed that I couldn t devour a wholesome breakfast, but I
later came to understand the convenience of the Pop Tart. My parents could put pastries in the toaster
and continue to get ready for their day without having to worry about too much clean up. It was during
these early days of my education that I really found a love for the sugary, fruit filled pastries. Post

Along with their release to stores across the country, store managers were instructed to put the Pop
Tarts in the cookie and cake aisle, opposed to the cereal aisle where the Post Country Squares were
faltering in sales.
Kellogg started out with only four flavors of Pop Tarts: apple currant, blueberry, cinnamon and
strawberry. Over the years they have come out with a variety of different flavors including chocolate,
French toast and a very popular s mores version. The company decided not to frost the original
version because the creators thought that the frosting might melt in the toaster. The developers later
came to realize that the frosting would not melt in the toaster, however, and the first Pop Tarts with
frosting were released for sale in 1967.
In 1971, Kellogg decided to introduce Milton the Toaster, a cartoon character that would be used to
help promote the product. The character was a hit with the sample audiences and was launched
nationwide, but the campaign was terminated after a commercial showing Milton the Toaster being
hugged by a child fostered a fear that children may try to copy the commercial and burn themselves.
Pop Tarts came under a lot of scrutiny in 1992 when a man named Thomas Nangle sued Kellogg for
damages on the grounds that his Pop Tart got caught in his toaster and started a fire. The

Analysis Of Cathedral And The Handsomest Man Drowned
Point of view is an integral tool that is used by authors to express an individual s feelings, emotions,
and thoughts throughout the story. It gives the reader an understanding of a character s development.
The first person point of view is limited to one character as it draws the reader into the mind of one
character s thoughts and emotions. Third person narration may be omniscient or limited. The third
person omniscient tells the story in which the narrator is aware of the thoughts and feelings of all the
characters, while limited third person is restricted to the thoughts of certain characters. The use of the
first person narration and third person limited omniscient may at first seem restraining because it only
presents one or a limited number of character s thoughts and feeling. However, the use of first person
narration in Cathedral and the use of limited third person perspective in The Handsomest Man
Drowned in the World, is effective because both provides a deeper insight into character s feelings,
thoughts, and opinions. These choices of narration also aid a reader in relating to the characters, and
helps convey the central theme of the story.
First person narrators are the characters who have very limited knowledge about other characters and
convey the story in the perspective of I and we. In Cathedral, Carver uses the first person narration to
reveal information about the narrator s personality. The opening scene of the story makes it apparent
that the

Character Analysis Of Buster Keaton s Sherlock Jr
In Sherlock Jr, demonstrate a man which is a movie projectionist frustrated in love because the object
of his affections is attracted to a dishonest rival. Sherlock Jr is also an aspiring detective, and when the
girl s father s pocket watch disappears he tries to take charge of the situation. But the rival contrives to
make him look like the culprit. While projecting a show about two lovers and a similar domestic
crime, Sherlock experiences a bizarre daydream of entering the world of the movie. Buster Keaton
introduces a man who is trying to impress a girl by giving her a ring. There are certain things in the
scene that makes it part of the plot; such as the ring and the reaction to it, the framing, and acting.
Buster Keaton uses the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the close up; which appear in a second minute shot, it goes back to the medium shot to have the
same scenery before the close up. The close up is interpreted when the director wants to have a better
vision for the audience to see the ring that Sherlock Jr gives to the girl. Thus, the audience attentive
the importance of the object to the main characters.
Further, he uses a close up of the ring to show excitement and anxiety of the scene. As I mentioned,
the close up of the scene is important because it s a demonstration of a better perspective of the ring.
The excitement in a way the girl wants to know what is inside the ring, and the feeling of wearing it.
The anxiety of being nervous at the same time.
In addition, the setting happens in the girl s house which is middle class. In my perspective, the
director chooses this setting to emphasize the events yet to come, and it is where the plot begins to
form. For example, its fashion, and the quality of the furniture made it seem to have the feeling of a
middle class house. Thus, the setting of the house presents the major events of the film overall. Keaton
uses the actor s facial expressions, framing to build the excitement and anxiety of the scene. He uses
acting to express their facial expressions to demonstrate emotions by showing excitement and
disappointment while giving a ring, and anxiety in both characters. The close up of the ring illustrates

On My Dear Grandchild Simon Bradstreet On My Dear Grandchild Simon Bradstreet, Who Died on 16 November 1669, being but a Month, and One Day Old, is about the death of poet Anne Bradstreet s grandchild. She personifies God as a gardener whom harvests the grandson Simon and his two sisters. She seems to find ways to understand the situation and remain true to her faith. The internal conflict in Bradstreet s poem is to retain her trust and faith while accepting the tragedy of her grandchild. Bradstreet struggles with the loss of her faith in God by hiding her feelings but she eventually accepts the loss the loved ones as being a part of God s plan. • 3. Exhibit 5.10 Analysis The main theme of the handbill illustrated in Exhibit 5.10 is a message describing all the benefits that the company can provide if employees vote no for the union. The handbill is very captivating as it promises employees better wages, more paid time off, and additional employee perks. During a union organizing drive, the employer will likely try to convince employees that joining a union is not in their or the company s best interests. Union organizations, of course, will have a different message. The mission on the union is to sell the union to the company s employees. Companies rarely ever tell employees about the advantages of being a union member, just as Unions rarely, if ever, tell employees about the possible disadvantages that come ... Deirdre has been the primary nurse for 6 hemodialysis patients. She has involved patients and families in monthly interdisciplinary meetings to promote self efficacy and quality of life. With the help of the interdisciplinary team Deirdre has worked collaboratively to address and reinforce nutritional needs, social/family issues, barriers to care, and safety concerns. All of her primary care patients have maintained a goal of 100% for dialysis adequacy (benchmark is 85%) and a vascular access rate of 100% and dictated by KDOQI standards. Deirdre noted a downward trend of a veteran pts access. With quick intervention the access resulted in a patent access with better clearances for this patient, and the preservation of the dialysis access. During the transitioning process to the new hemodialysis unit, Ms. Conlon anticipated the challenges acquired by learning to set up and use new water equipment in an acute situation. In response to this, Ms. Conlon created and implemented a reverse osmosis flow sheet to assist her colleagues with the quick set up of the portable RO in the ICU care setting. This tool resulted in a smoother transition for her colleagues, improvement in the delivery of care to the acute dialysis patient, and a decrease in the possibility of staffing overtime. She created a flow sheet used by the nurses to import data useful for review at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Force was a key method pastoral nomads used to overthrow settled communities during the Nomadic Invasions and Migrations period during 2000 to 1700 B.C.E. The pastoralists and the settled people disagreed on many things and had very different ways of living. For example, the Aryan s, located in Northern India, were polytheistic, while the settled people believed in only one god. Some societies disagreed on whether farming or breeding animals was most beneficial to the prosperity of their community. In Mesopotamia, the Babylonians (another group of pastoral nomads) invaded and conquered Sumer, following a similar method to the Aryans. They also similarly kept laws that tied the poor and inferior to a stake. Hammurabi, one of the kings of Babylon, went on a mission to create a list of rules for people to follow, but in order for him to be worthy of this, Hammurabi made sure he had religious legitimacy. He did this by portraying an image of himself next to the Shamash, god of light and prosperity, to show that he was worthy of this god s attention. Hammurabi completely glorified himself. Furthermore, he thought of himself as fair and revolutionary, which is why there was so much appeal to his name. Some laws that he created benefitted society, but other laws were made to benefit the indigenous people really just kept them in their boxes. If he has broken another seignior s bone, they shall break his bone. If he has destroyed the eye of a commoner or broken the bone of a commoner, he shall pay one mina of silver. • 6. Sociological Aspects Of Social Psychology Social Psychology According to Gordon Allport , social psychology is an attempt to understand and explain how the thought, feeling, and behavior of individuals is influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of others. (Allport, 1954) There are two differing branches when referring to social psychology: 1. The sociological aspect of social psychology, which was mainly developed in Europe as a subdivision of sociology. 2. The psychological aspect of social psychology, which was developed in the US The differences between the two divisions are, that the sociological way of viewing social psychology focusses more on group interaction, group processes, while the psychological aspects of social psychology focusses more on the individual and how the individual is influenced and/or behaves in social settings. Sociological social psychology is very theory intensive and constructs itself out of geisteswissenschaften (sciences of the spirit) and social sciences. Corresponding approaches are i.e. critical theories, which also include psychoanalytical ideas. Some of the more notable sociological psychologists include Sigmund Freud, Erich Fromm and Wilhelm Reich. Coming back to the psychological branch of social psychology, we see its intentions lies in an attempt to understand and explain how the thought, feelings and behavior of individuals are influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of others (Allport, The Person in Psychology, 1968) Quantitative ... • 7. What Is A Lie Essay The lie. I mean the lie is the first sin we commit. As children, we often learn always to tell the truth. However, there is an opportunity in life when we are taking the first steps toward a lie: to avoid a punishment, to achieve a goal, to adapt to a situation, or to enhance our status. It is for this reason that the lies are so close to us. There are different levels of lies, and none of them is okay, not even the white little lie. A white lie is a lie that offers consolation and a false belief of security. The best cover up of the lie is the absence of truth. The absence of truth is a lie that is harder to see through but to defraud, and omission of information as a tool to fool us from the truth is a lie straight through. One of the main features of people who defraud information or omit the truth is that they are constantly on the defensive. It offers us an opportunity to strengthen our ability to make decisions, analyse things, and determine our emotional and cognitive identity. What does the truth give? It gives you confidences, self esteem, and respect. To others, it provides integrity, authenticity, and an opportunity for a free choice. • 8. Administration Is Poorly Or Carelessly Done administration is poorly or carelessly done (e. g., starting meetings late can discourage some of the most effective people from coming another time, vagueness about the agenda creates disorder in the people s minds and often in the progress of the meetings, and failure to plan results in drifting). Therefore, it benefits the preacher in charge and all of those associated with him/her, to plan and execute the plan wisely. The end results of the planning may strengthen persons and groups in their abilities, attitudes, habits, fellowship, and spiritual understanding and dedication. The record of the past, recent, or distant holds no special comfort for this moment, except that the record suggests that there is in our midst a viable, stable vehicle that can be successfully utilized. It will not come by praying, and preaching, and singing alone. It must come by employing the instruments, skills, and expertise of the administrative body under the direction of its black preacher to make his witness that we are, indeed, sons and daughters of the Father. Taking into account the fact that many pastors are not trained administrators, Howell continues to advocate that the Black Preacher s administrative roles and expectations are plural in numbers. When the pastor s various administrative duties are listed and grouped into meaningful classifications, the many roles begin to become clear. The following is a list of these administrative roles using the acronym D.O.C.T.O.R., with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But some research reveals that IL 6 accelerates the tumor growth and formation of micro vascular network of red blood cell. IL 6 is a kind of pro inflammatory cytokine which secreted by T cells and macrophages. In the cervical cancer cell, MMP 2 and MMP 9 play the important roles on tumor invasion and metastasis. MMP 2 acts as a proteinase for degradation of collagen. Essay on Westward Expansion Book Review Westward Expansion 1807 1880 THESIS: After the War of 1812 much of America s attention turned to exploration and settlement of its territory to the West, which had been greatly enlarged by the Louisiana Purchase. SUMMARY: Families of pioneers swept westward and founded new communities throughout what is now the Midwest, and between 1816 and 1821, six new states were admitted to the Union. The land boom was fed by encouragement from the federal government and the actions of land speculators, who bought up large tracts of land in order to sell it in parcels to farmers at exorbitant prices. These farmers did not mind high prices and high interest on loans due to the growing success of American agricultural products. Most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The canal and railroad systems, which grew up in the North, facilitated a much larger volume of trade and manufacturing while reducing costs a great deal. Great cities sprang up throughout the North and Northwest, bolstered by the improvement in transportation. After the Midwest had been substantially developed, the national focus turned toward the far west. The territory of Texas, controlled by the Spanish, was settled by Americans, who eventually undertook the Texas Rebellion in efforts to win independence. When the United States admitted Texas to the Union in 1845, the Mexican government was outraged, and from 1846 to 1848, the two nation s squared off in the Mexican War. With a resounding victory, the United States gained control of Texas, New Mexico, and California. The Oregon territory was annexed in 1846 as well, and the US controlled the land all the way to the Pacific Ocean. As the population of the West soared and the prospects of statehood for western territories appeared clearer and clearer, the nation battled over the future of slavery in the West. This battle was one reason for the Civil War, which slowed the acceleration of expansion. However, the last three decades of the nineteenth century saw the return of accelerating expansion due to the successful struggle to contain the Plains Indians in reservations, and the completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1869. • 12. Comparison Of Stonehenge And Paganism Stonehenge and Paganism A lot of scientific interpretations of Stonehenge that are proposed by archaeologists are often at war , so to speak, with other archaeological interpretations by faith communities. One of these particular arguments is that Paganism is not considered to be a real religion, like that of Christianity or the Islamic faith. Paganism is not widely practiced in the United States like it is over in the UK and other European countries. Stonehenge has been connected in one way or another to the religion of Paganism. Building of Stonehenge Stonehenge was built in the Neolithic early Bronze Age era. The human race did not settle in the area of Wiltshire until around 4,000 BCE 3,000 BCE (Cusack 2012). According to Fagan, local farmers built a simple enclosure (Cusack 2012). There are five stones, which consist of the Heel Stone that is located outside of the north eastern entrance. The Slaughter Stone, which lies flat on the east side of the entranceway, is considered to be part of a pair that could have created an entrance. The final two Station Stones are located in the bank (Cusack 2012). Over the few hundred years, more timber monuments were built, possibly to assist in the purpose of Stonehenge. Many archaeologists have disputed over the phases of not only the construction of Stonehenge but also the chronology of Stonehenge as well as the possibilities of what it was used for (Cusack 2012). • 13. An Outline On Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself a. The parts I read from Whitman s Song of Myself are very interesting because right off the bat, Whitman informs his audience that he is writing this long epic poem about himself. His work shapes what it means to be an American. He discusses all different kinds of people and places and tries to find unity that forms positive relationships. To him, everything is good if it is contributing to the larger good in some way. His poem was controversial because he lacks any sort of filter. His contemporary poem was written about himself for his readers. He depicts all the confusion of the American ideal and emphasizes independence, equality, optimism and love. b. We can assume then that these wars are already over by the time Macondo is founded, so that this fictional act corresponds to developments in about 1820 1825 in the country s real history. This primitive stage of Macondo is also a time of innocence, a psychological theme important in the book. The arrival of Melquiades and his gypsy band, with their navigational instruments, magnifying glass, and so forth, is a metaphor for the beginning of technical and scientific awareness, which would have reached towns like Macondo some time between 1830 and 1860. Even though Olduwan tools giving access and the ability for early humans to hunt in groups, the most significant factor I believe is fire. It is because, fire gave the ability to early humans to cook raw meats in return, gave access to better nutrition and easier ability to break down food which helped with further evolution of human physiology. This gave the early humans spend more time on doing variety of different things rather than spend hours at a time chewing on food which won t give time to develop intelligence. Also the soft food gave change in human structure with smaller teeth and jaws which gave more accessibility to brain size. Another factor that increased the intelligence of early human is attempting to create a controlled fire which further gave the ability to travel to the region that was colder than the continent of origin Africa. The tools and hunting might have given the early humans the ability to access the food. Pregnancy Discrimination Act Case Study According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, The Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA) is an amendment to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Discrimination on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions constitutes unlawful sex discrimination under Title VII (Eeoc.gov, 2015). • 43. Analysis Of Cathedral And The Handsomest Man Drowned Point of view is an integral tool that is used by authors to express an individual s feelings, emotions, and thoughts throughout the story. It gives the reader an understanding of a character s development. The first person point of view is limited to one character as it draws the reader into the mind of one character s thoughts and emotions. Third person narration may be omniscient or limited. The third person omniscient tells the story in which the narrator is aware of the thoughts and feelings of all the characters, while limited third person is restricted to the thoughts of certain characters. The use of the first person narration and third person limited omniscient may at first seem restraining because it only presents one or a limited number of character s thoughts and feeling. However, the use of first person narration in Cathedral and the use of limited third person perspective in The Handsomest Man Drowned in the World, is effective because both provides a deeper insight into character s feelings, thoughts, and opinions. These choices of narration also aid a reader in relating to the characters, and helps convey the central theme of the story. First person narrators are the characters who have very limited knowledge about other characters and convey the story in the perspective of I and we.
