I think this album is marvelous for a few reasons, one being her lyrics. The lyrics
express struggles within Amy s life that can be considered controversial. Amy
would express and confront her troubles in a fearless way within each song, which
makes her music even more wonderful. In the documentary film, Amy, they quoted
her saying, I wouldn t write anything unless it was directly personal to me, just
cause I wouldn t be able to tell the story right because I wouldn t have done it. Even
though the songs are personal, in a sad way, I d never let it just be that. I d always
put in a punch line in the song just trying to be different with my lyrics
(Winehouse). She spoke the truth and showed her sincere attitude, which made
her vulnerable, but made her real and unique. Amy s main experience that effected

Another reason why I believe this album is outstanding is due to Amy s powerful
and distinctive voice. Her voice is strong and charismatic. Her vocal style
compares to that of a sixties soul singer. Amy s tone and mood is expressed clearly
through her voice. Even when she wasn t singing her lyrics, the sounds she made
within her songs expressed the mood. Her voice glints with possibility: tart, smoky,
ready to flirt or sob, and capable of the jazzy timing of a Dinah Washington or the
declamation of soul singers like Martha Reeves and Carla Thomas (Pareles). The

design suitable constructions for the workers to broaden their horizons within.
The Zuyev Workers Club (1927, left) in Moscow is an ideal example of this design
movement embracing the society they help to create. Housing an 850 seat
auditorium that could be divided up for multiple uses the building was, and still is
used for in many ways by the community. Designed by Ilya Golosov, the building
had his trademark style, with his simple use of volumes, such as the cylinder and

Annabel Lee Commentary The power of love can overcome any obstacle that may
get in the way. Edgar Allen Poe s Annabel Lee explores the idea of idealism of love
from Poe s perspective viewpoint. The poem tells of two lovers whom have been
together since childhood. The way they felt towards each other was so strong that
even the angels were jealous. They killed the young maiden out of envy of not being
able to possess the feelings that of which the lovers have. However, the love of the
two young ones was unbreakable. By using idealism, foreshadowing, rhyme, and
repetition Edgar Allan Poe produces a commentary on everlasting love.
Poe begins his piece by presenting idealism. He starts off with ... many and many a
year ago. / In a Kingdom by the sea. (1 2) which is that of how a fairy tale starts.
The use of lines one and two provides a feeling of hope like most fairy tales do. Poe

play into a short story known as A Jury of Her Peers which was written only a year
after the playin 1917. Glaspell retained as well as changed aspects of the characters,
details and titles when converting her play into a short story.
Though all of the characters remained the same in both the play and short story,
Glaspell was able to elaborate and go into the extent of relationships further. The

The main plot details were directly lifted from the play to the short story. As
aforementioned Glaspell develops background information in A Jury of Her Peers
that helps further the comprehension of events that play out. A lot more details
about the murder and the thoughts of the characters as things unfold. Unlike in the
play, a more vivid description of the setting is developed through the details given
in the short story. The theme of the story is also easier to determine than in the
play. In the play there is little room for detail and background information
everything has to be assumed by dialogue and actions. The plot isn t nearly as
detailed as the short story. One similarity Glaspell carried over from the play to the
short story is her version of feminism. Feminism as portrayed by Glaspell in her two

Turning to The Womanist Reader (Phillips, 2006), I was unsure of what to expect.
Led primarily through my consideration of womanism by the Alice Walker
definition of what a womanist is, I thought that I would be on firm ground in my
reading because I was able to see womanist and black feminist as synonymous a
view that this text has revised. To my surprise, what I found was a far broader
application of Walker s concept, and I was further surprised to find that womanism
extends itself to so many areas of thought, commonality, and study. Understanding
that The Womanist Reader is a scholarly collection of womanist thoughts and
considerations brought together as a functional overview of practice is a bit
overwhelming for me, and I am finding myself taking a step back to review my own
approaches to study.
With its extensive multidisciplinary coverage, The Womanist Reader was an
excellent sort of one stop resource for the information I needed to complete the
midterm project for this class. In looking at race, sex, and gender, for my project, I
noticed that works from major contributors to black feminist scholarship were
associated with the womanist scholarship found in this volume. As a means of
situating the course of Black studies, and why there is a need to understand the
quotidian lives of women as a way of translating the humanity of people of African
descent, this text offered connections that I had not fully considered.

fitting. Secondly, this poem is fitting for the Modernist movement because it
expresses what millions of people might have felt after the soldiers started

attempting and usually succeeding at portraying his situation. As Arthur Laurents,
one of his collaborators, said, Steve...is the only lyricist who almost always writes
songs for the characters they are written for (Michener 384). Since he writes the
songs for the characters, each word has a specific purpose, but he still puts a twist on
established devices of musical theatre. Musical theatre often contains rhyme, but
Sondheim s rhymes provide emphasis because all rhymes draw attention to the
rhymed word (Sondheim, Finishing the Hat, xxvii). Since the songs words signify
a profound amount of meaning, Sondheim makes sure that the lyrics and rhythms
work for the character and the actor. Getting Married Today in Company
demonstrates this particularity. On Amy s wedding day, she experiences doubt in
marrying Paul, expressed through a fast paced frenzy of thoughts and emotions. So
that this whirl of emotions does not become too chaotic, Sondheim s word choice
allows the actress playing Amy to capitalize on every word, as he calculates the
song to alternate vowel and consonant sounds in such a way as to make them easy
for the tongue, teeth, and breath to articulate (184). Thus, every word in Getting
Married Today has a specific purpose, unlike the lyrics of other musicals without
such a careful word choice. While the audience needs to use the lyrics to understand
the plot, Sondheim s intelligence and wit leaves the audience marveling at what
clever things he does with words (Banfield 113). In his songs, Sondheim wants to

4th Edition summarizes a styrene synthesis process from an equilibrium, de
hydrogenation of ethylbenzene. The equilibrium leaves various amounts of
impurities as well as unspent ethylbenzene which is removed by a two stage
separation process. The process can be improved upon and optimized for higher
product throughput and lower operational and maintenance costs. The separation
system was modeled on Aspen Plus V8.6 and a cost analysis performed on CapCost
2012.
Methodology
Figure 1 shows the Aspen model generated for only the separation process of
appendix B.3. after the reaction step. A 99.9% by mole stream of styrene is desired
for profit from the separation scheme.
The first step in optimization is determining the order of separations from the reactor.
All the possible chemicals present in the exiting stream are ethylbenzene, styrene,
benzene, ethylene, toluene, methane, hydrogen, and water. Water is introduced as
superheated steam to elevate reaction temperature and is an inert, driving the
equilibrium reaction to the right, favoring styrene. Hydrogen will remain a gas at
65oC and 80 kPa (Reactor exiting stream temperature and pressure after series
exchangers) while all other components will be majority in the liquid liquid phase.
A simple liquid gas separator can be used to remove all of the hydrogen with little
