Public Law And Private Law
INTRODUCTION The subject of law encompasses a wide area and covers a
variety of issues and agenda. For the convenience of readers and learners of this
subject, it is classified into various categories. Civil Law and Criminal Law Public
Law and Private Law Substantive Law and Procedural Law Municipal Law and
International Law The classification between Public Law and Private Law is one
of the most important classifications of law. Public Law in general terms has been
defined as the law of relations between the individual and state . Holland lays down
the simplest test to determine whether the case falls in public law or private law If
one of the parties is state, the case falls in the dimension of public law . However,
with passing times and more complex issues arising, the scope of public law is
going much beyond the normal definition of state as one of the parties . The scope
of public law now also involves various other matters such as business regulation.
Also, the scope of public law varies from state to state and system to system. While
a socialist economy will see private law having a much stronger authority, this will
not be the case in a capitalist or a mixed economy state. Major components of Public
Law are Constitutional Law Administrative Law Criminal Law Private Law, on the
other hand, deals with disputes between parties other than the State. The rights
violated under the ambit of the Private Law are the matter between the parties and

Arundel Partners
1. INTRODUCTION
In 1992, Arundel Partners was looking into the idea of purchasing the sequel rights
associated with films produced by one or more major movie studios. Movie rights
were to be purchased prior to films being made. Arundel wanted to determine if this
innovative business strategy is viable by estimating the value of the sequel rights.
2. OBJECTIVE
Our report aims to investigate the viability of the implementation of Arundel s
strategy in purchasing sequel rights to produce potential successful movie sequels.
The discount cash flow (DCF) approach and the real option pricing approach were
adopted in valuing the sequel rights purchased by Arundel respectively. The value of
these sequel rights is then compared to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
This has been calculated to be $4.96M.
This value of $4.96M is evidently larger than the $2M paid by Arundel for each
individual sequel rights.
Optimistic or Pessimistic estimate?
With this value of $4.96M as our value for each sequel rights purchased, we are now
allowed to compare it with other values of sequel rights to understand if we were too
optimistic or pessimistic in our estimate.
Driving Miss Daisy, Dead Poets Society and Batman were chosen to be the
representative movie sequels with their varied sequel rights values that can be
compared to $4.96M. They were chosen because they are all one of the most highly
anticipated successful films that can generate sequels. In particular, the PV of these
successful sequels will help us determine if we are underpaying or overpaying the
current sequel rights for each individual movie.
From Appendix 1, it has been determined that the PV of Driving Miss Daisy, Dead
Poets Society and Batman are $95.42M, $41.27M and $27.21M respectively. The
large magnitude of the PV of these 3 film sequels undermine the relatively smaller
$4.96M we calculated earlier.
If the studio obtains information that a film is going to be very successful, there is a
probability and incentive for them to hold back their production of the initial film so
that the sequel contract with Arundel will expire first. This would imply that Arundel
may need to pay a higher value for sequel

Prof. Berg OlsenFall 2014 History of Olive Oil and its Prevalence In Spain
As the ALSA bus rounded each curve, I looked out to the olive trees that spread as
far as the eye could see, their straggly branches performing an ancient charade. Their
geometric arrangement upon the hilly plots of arid land was picturesque. It was
summer in AndalucГa, Southern Spain, and the hot Spanish sun beat down
vaporizing any bit of moisture left by the morning dew. As the bus pulled over at a
rest stop I was able to get a closer look at the olive trees. The slight scent of ripening
olives filled the dense air. As I entered the small rest stop I saw several jars of various

Those living on the shores of the Mediterranean have successfully included olive oil
in their societies up until this day. Throughout its birth and maturation, many new
ways of processing olives have been invented to make yielding its precious oil
more efficient. In the first section of my paper I will discuss the history of olive
oil; where, by who and when it was discovered; what impact it has had on various
societies and what is its significance among different religions and mythologies. I
will also go into detail on the vast health benefits of olive oil. I will be highlighting
the role of olive oil in Spain, one of the top producers as well as consumers of the oil
today.
History of Olive Oil
The olive tree, one of the oldest known cultivated trees in the world, has been a
part of Mediterranean civilization since before recorded history [Zamora et al.,
2001 (1)]. The edible olive seems to have coexisted with humans for approximately
5000 to 6000 years, going back to the early Bronze Age (3150 to 1200 BCE). Based
on written stone tablets, olive pits, and wood fragments have been found in ancient
tombs, its dispersion has been tracked throughout the civilizations that developed in
the Mediterranean region in the areas now known as Southern Turkey, Syria,
Lebanon, Palestine, and Israel. Some researchers have reported that the cultivated
olive tree originated in Asia Minor, between present Syria, Lebanon, and Israel.

Hilton Hotel in Gainesville vs. Hilton Hotel in Downtown...
Introduction In this assignment essay, the author will review and compare the
web sites for the Hilton hotel in Gainesville, FL and the Hilton hotel in downtown
Miami, FL. We will use this research to answer the following questions: 1. What
brand image does Hilton try to portray? Do the web sites reinforce the brand
image? Why or why not? 2. What suggestions would you make to enhance the
brand image their sites portray? 3. Explain how each site appeals to different
segments through their web site. Give specific examples. 4. Do these sites offer
live chat? What are the advantages and disadvantages of live chat? Analysis The
brand image in both cases is localized so the Hilton name is associated with the
local area and or sites. According to SEO optimization company Tech Target,
Localization (sometimes shortened to l10n ) is the process of adapting a product
or service to a particular language, culture, and desired local look and feel (
localization ( l10n), 2011). As the SEO experts point out, localization is the flip side
of internationalization, which allows the product or service to be timely and useful
anywhere in the world (ibid.). The Hilton is an international hotel chain and fits the
bill well. As an important bonus, the localization and internationalization features aid
greatly in SEO website optimization. It gets both local and out of town business
going for the organization (ibid.). In the case of the Hilton, Gainesville, FL, it is

How Is Diction Used In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
In The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Stevenson uses diction, imagery, and
details to characterize both sides of his main character.
Assertion #1: Robert Louis Stevenson uses diction to characterize both sides of his
main characters. The author writes, ...for the man trampled over the the child s body
and left her screaming on the ground. (Stevenson, 7)
The author created a mood of pain and agony. To find the mood there are two
keywords, trampled, because Hyde s murdering an innocent girl and screaming
because she s dying harshly.
This quote characterizes Mr. Hyde, because it clearly tells the reader this is the
spiteful personality of the two. The author writes, ...he was trampling his victim

and does not appreciate being stared down. Assertion #2: Robert Louis Stevenson

The author writes, He was the usual cut and dry apothecary, of no particular age and
colour, with a strong Edinburgh agent. (Stevenson, 6)
The author created a mood, mild and honorable. To find the mood there s a phrase
from the quote, a strong edinburgh agent that tells the reader Dr. Jekyll seems like a
sophisticated and calm man.
This quote characterizes Dr. Jekyll, because it clearly tells the reader this is the
gentle personality of the two.
The author writes, Now that the evil influence had been withdrawn a new life had

Nora Self Discovery
An Analysis of Nora Helmer s Journey of Self Discovery in A Doll s House
Change intro to focus on title Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House is an adeptly
composed play, captivating readers immediately with its intriguing title. A Doll s
House reflects the idea of oppression and how women are presented as dolls, being
controlled and manipulated by their owners. Nora Helmer is placed in the position
of a doll in a doll s house in her life because of the overwhelming control her
husband, Torvald, has on her life. Torvald s control over finances, Nora s
manipulation while dancing the tarantella and her decision to move out from the
dollhouse , depict oppression in the Helmer s house. Torvald controls the household
expenditure and limits the amount ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to a doll, Torvald controls what Nora wears and how he wants her to act to
please himself. Despite Nora s fear from Torvald sending Krogstad s notice to be
sent, she must put on an act to please Torvald so that he remains content because if
he is not happy with Nora s form of entertainment, she will be forces to dance and
do other activities out of her own will. Although Nora replies frightened to Torvald
when he asks if she is dressed yet for the tarantella, she continues her act of being
Torvald s happy, little doll by replying, I look so nice in [the dress], Helmer. (Ibsen
202). This dialogue highlights how Nora has learned to hide her flaws by
degrading herself and by praising Torvald s superiority in order to survive in this
household. When Torvald tells Nora to practise the dance, it is so she can later
present it to him for his entertainment, displaying her similarity to a doll in how
Torvald uses her for entertainment. Nora s tarantella dance is an important scene
displaying how controlling Torvald is and how much pressure Nora has by trying to
be the perfect trophy wife who Torvald desires Nora to be. When Torvald asks Nora
whether she has practised her dance, she replies with: I can t do anything unless
you help me, Torvald (Ibsen 203) and Sit down and play for me, Torvald dear;
criticize me, and show me where I m wrong,
Changes And Development Of The Aging Process
Epigenetic changes are currently recognized as part of the aging process and have
been implicated in many age related chronic diseases such as AD (1 3). The term
epigenetics includes a variety of processes known to regulate gene expression in a
stable and potentially reversible way, without altering the primary DNAsequence (4).
Since epigeneticsallow for the integration of long lasting non genetic inputs in the
genome, research on age related disorders have recently focused in epigenetic
mechanisms, and a growing number of epigenetic alterations in AD have been
described recently (5). The best characterized epigenetic mechanisms include DNA
methylation, histone posttranslational modifications, and non coding RNAs such as
microRNAs (miRNAs). It is becoming increasingly evident the interplay between
these mechanisms to establish the epigenetic states and expression patterns of many
mammalian genes (1 3). For instance, it has been described that trimethylation of
histone 3 at lysine 9 (H3K9me3) by the histone methyl transferase SUV39H1 is
required for recruiting the DNA methyl transferase DNMT3b to pericentromeric
repeats in order to allow heterochromatin structure (both H3 K9 methylation and
DNA methylation are considered hallmarks of mammalian heterochromatin) (4). In
turn, miRNAs can also control other epigenetic mechanisms; for example, miR 204
can target histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) (5), while miR 148 and miR 152 are
reported to influence DNA methylation
Disney Fair Use
The first thing that should be done before anything else in this case, is the proper
definition of fair use. Merriam Webster s defines fair use as the following: a legal
doctrine that portions of copyrighted materials may be used without permission of
the copyright owner provided the use is fair and reasonable, does not substantially
impair the value of the materials, and does not curtail the profits reasonably expected
by the owner. The U.S. Copyrightoffice states that these are the activities that can be
claimed as fair use: criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and
research. So to further analyze fair use, I shall share some observations. Fair use
can be claimed if it does not substantially impair the worth of the movies used in the
video, or lose any money for disney. The strategy can also be used if it is used in the
context of criticizing, reporting, or providing commentary on something. Teaching,
research, and scholarship are also forms protected by copyright.
So first we will look at if Disney s profits are harmed, let s take a look at what
disney is worth: Disney currently has about 1.61 billion shares outstanding. With a
share price of around $94 per share, that puts Disney s market capitalization at
roughly $150 billion. The Motley Fool. Looking at evidence ... Show more content on

My First Day Of High School
You need to surround yourself with people who care about you. Who challenge
you to grow. Who make you happy and appreciate all that you have to offer. The
message rang in my head as my mother offered me this advice, in attempt to quell
my fear of not fitting in the night before my first day of high school. I was often
scared to be myself. Being a persistent Asian with nothing but frequent late nights
studying intensely to keep up, young male dancer, and closeted gay teenager were
all facets of my identity that did not sit well in the minds of middle school bullies.
However, my high schoolexperiences brought me to realize that by integrating
myself in a community of passionate individuals, I thrived immensely and found
myself growing every day. Today, I no longer fear being unapologetically Marcus.
With a profound clarity, I envision myself continuing my journey of self improvement
by studying at Carnegie Mellon as a design major.
I found my niche in design because the field allows me to combine my love for the
arts and functional aesthetics with my dream of creating an impact on the world.
Already, I observed the immediate social impacts of thoughtful communication design
as editor in chief for our school s yearbook publication. I learned design extends
beyond aesthetics as its primary significance is functionality, which my staff
accomplished by telling powerful stories through an understanding of visual hierarchy
and efforts to ensure thorough coverage. A full year s

Snapshot Skillful Supervision
Snapshot Skillful Supervision As the principal your first step is to determine if there
is value to the staff member s judgement. On occasion there may be a personality
conflict between the two teachers and little merit to the complaint. Dealing with the
personality conflict, then becomes the priority. Regardless, the duty of the principal
is to gather the facts. Initial analysis of the teacher s practice is done through
informal walk through observations. The principal provides written feedback to the
teacher in regard to the principal s observations relative to the teaching standards. It
is imperative for the principal to make themselves available to the teacher if they
desire to discuss the informal observation. Following the informal observation, the

The Most Aggressive Part of Frank
What was once an average daily commute to the office had become the place we
hated each other most. Our ritual ruined us. Every morning before our drive to our
respective offices, Frank brought me a slice of toast buttered on both sides for
breakfast. I d adjust his tie once he placed himself in the driver s seat. His hands
always had smears of butter on them, and neither of us wanted him to ruin his clothes.
On the morning of the accident, he wore the tie I gave him for our first anniversary,

lot of health and safety risks factors.
The time frame and the environment within which the work is to be done in this
project expose the workers and the general public to myriads of safety risks. These
safety factors have an impact on the decision making strategies in the project. In
undertaking risk and safety management, the international standards especially the

Net Neutrality
Introduction:
Net Neutrality is allowing users to free and open access of internet irrespective of
sources or internet providers demanding special charges in order to use services
provided by them. Now a days Internet is one of the essential part for everyday
communication in life. Several services were used in our day to day life for
example GPS tracking, google, Wikipedia, Netflix etc., and we can t imagine a day
without the internet. Internet Service providers combining with corporations were
utilizing this and trying to make profit out of this by imposing more charges on the
user in order to utilize the services needed for him with more speed and flexibility.
There are several discussions and debates supporting and opposing net neutrality. ...

Understanding And Guiding Developmental Processes
Introduction
Physical development refers to physical body changes. It occurs in a relatively
stable, predictable sequence. Motor developmental theories provide insights into
how children grow and learn. Theories are helpful for understanding and guiding
developmental processes. The principle of the maturation theory is growth and
development occurs in orderly stages and sequence, that is, certain skills and
abilities generally occur before other milestones are reached. For example, most
infants learn to crawl before they learn to walk. However, it is also important to
realize that the rate at which these milestones are reached can vary. Some children
learn to walk earlier than their same age peers, while others may take a bit longer ...

However in the dynamic theory the nervous system is considered part of the
development motor system and the nervous system must dynamically change and
interact with other systems to achieve coordinated movements for individual needs.
Even nature of terrain and environment affects motor skill development, but there are
three categories of movements which help children learning motor skills, they are
stability movement, locomotive movement and manipulative movement.
The information sensory processing theory tells us that we all have an innate learning
ability. Children are born with specialised information processing abilities that enable
them to figure out structure of motor development. Information processing describes
how children s body performs; take in large amounts of information from the
environment which are and analyse and interpret the information then make decisions
about what response to make therefore it determines children s motor development.
This stage involves the sensory mechanism detecting signals in the environment.
Information is received from the environment via vestibular, tactile, auditory, visual
and proprioception system. The information is gathered from both internal and
external sources. Much of the information received is irrelevant to the performer and
Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen
The play Hedda Gabler revolves around the life of a socially deprived woman
living in the late 1800s. Hedda Gabbler s crippled emotionally draining life is the
epicenter of the entire body of work. As Ibsen wrote of Hedda s emotional state and
life he revealed the distinct role women played in the late nineteenth century.
Manipulation and the reputation of the protagonist, Hedda Gablerreveals the message
Henrik Ibsenwas trying to send out. Hedda Gabler lived in a world of repressed
feelings and dissatisfaction to say the least. She wanted what was utterly unattainable
to her. Hedda wanted life and became extremely psychologically distressed that her
own reality began to not matter. Life became an idea instead of a reality for her....

The enclosed space brought about feelings of loss and worthlessness in Hedda.
She felt as if the room was all she truly had, just a small space to wonder and live
within. A portrait of her father, the general, hangs on the wall constantly eyeing
her as if judging her. She wants out of the world she lives in yet she surrounds
herself with coverage and a small space to be in at all times. She slowly creates
this world of confinement within her confinement in society. She nests and readies
herself for her death as if it were the plan all along. If she were psychologically
stable, this may be believable but considering that she isn t, it s not rational to think
she knew she would die from the beginning as no rational person would kill
themselves.
Hedda is extremely dominant and strong willed in many ways. She wants what she
wants and doesn t seem to ever take no for an answer. Her relationship with Judge
Brack proves this. Both characters are much more alike than either would like to
admit most likely. Both are determined and domineering. While Hedda is confined
to her life as a housewife and can t control things in the outside world, she can
control people, everyone except Brack that is, demonstrating their likeliness and
similar demeanors and attitudes. The social boundaries thrust upon Hedda aren t
there for Brack as he is a man of society and holds power. When the two characters
converse with one another Brack acts as a mentor of sorts though
The Importance Of Taking Risks In Beowulf
De Armas, Albert M. Ascorbe English 4 P.7 10/15/17 The Importance of Taking
Risks Beowulf set his ego aside and hurdled into the face of danger in order to
defeat a greater evil and liberate the people of Heorot from the demonic grasp of
Grendel. The crew aboard the Challenger brought America together and helped us
insure the safety of future astronauts. Tom pushed his body to the edge to live the
life he dreamed of. Risks are imperative in life. Even beginning life, they are our
instinct. We learn to crawl despite the bruises on our knees. We learn to walk no
matter how many falls we endure. As we become further aware of the world
around us, somewhere along the way, we experience failure; at that point, many
people attempt to eradicate most risks from their life. But where would we be
without our sense of exploration, our willingness to try new things? In order to
push one s boundaries, move forward as a society, and give purpose to life people
must be willing to take risks. Beowulf sees the need of taking risks when he must
help his friend across the sea in bringing peace to his land. Hrothgar s kingdom,
Denmark, is being terrorized by the vicious, bloody thirsty demons, Grendel and
his mother. Sailing across the sea, putting his own life at risk for others is an
immense risk that can certainly lead to Beowulf s demise. The Geats, who idolize
Beowulf, see this risk but can comprehend that Beowulf must go as it is the only
way to save the Danes Would sail across the sea to

Thesis Statement On Capital Punishment
According to the Editorial Board in their opinion article on Capital Punishment, they
believe that capital punishment should no longer be in existence as it is violating the
Eighth Amendment s ban on cruel and unusual punishments (Editorial Board, Capital
Punishment Deserves a sick Death ). Although capital punishmentmay be a cruel and
unusual punishment and viewed as unnecessary in certain situations, I believe the
Editorial Board fails to connect their supporting points to their conclusion and
understand the reasoning behind capital punishment in today s criminal justice system.
One of the editorial boards strongest claims is that the death penalty is in direct
violation of the Eighth Amendment s Ban on cruel and unusual punishment.
Although they do make a strong argument for this claim, they fail to mention the
Supreme Courts ruling that the death penalty is not in violation of the Eighth
Amendment. According to USLegal, A death penalty is the sentence of execution for
murder and some other capital crimes (serious crimes, especially murder, which are
punishable by death). The death penalty, or capital punishment, may be prescribed by
Congress or any state legislature for murder and other capital crimes. The Supreme
Court has ruled that the death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be very difficult to know which side to support and evaluating the issue can be
overwhelming. Without a proper solution and lack of support for claims, I believe
this editorial was very one sided and did not consider the other side of the argument.
Although the editorial provides substantial information from outside sources and
observes the unlawful reasoning for capital punishment well, I believe capital
punishment should still continue to be used in a practical way in order for criminals
to obtain the proper punishments for their
What Is Humanitarian Work Psychology
At the moment, there are different trends that psychology is at and will progress to
regarding demographics, technology, and innovation of ideas. An article by the
Monitor of Psychology demonstrates through a survey of health providers the reality
of the demographic they are reaching out to. It also addresses the different ways that
practitioners are treating clients. According to the study, thirty nine percent of
respondents shared electronic medical records with other professionals. And while
only 19 percent saw patients alongside other professionals, 36 percent participated in
multidisciplinary team meetings and 33 percent reported integrated treatment plans

Kathleen Blanco Speech Analysis
To keep things simple, people simply want to be heard, and they will do anything in
order for their audience to listen. There are various ways in which the speaker would
gain the right to be heard. Former Governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Blanco, uses
various forms to obtain attention from her audience as she addresses the Louisiana
Legislator on Hurricane Katrinawhere she not only discusses the effects of the
hurricane but also acknowledges the people who have helped out so far. Blanco
does an exceptional job gaining attention through her audience through pathos, or
emotions. She gets to people s emotion side by expressing heartbreak, loss,
devastation, and above all; hope. Many people, if not all, have experienced at least
one of these emotions at some point in there lives, which helps them relate to
Blanco s speech. Blanco introduces the subject of loss, devastation and heartbreak
by stating ...our thoughts are the families who were literally ripped apart by the
storm.... I have met brothers separated from sisters, mothers and fathers searching
for children, and children who have seen things no child should have to witness...
my heart goes out to every family (Blanco ..). Nobody should have to go through
that in their lives, no matter your age or gender. Too many people have
experienced some form of loss, devastation or heartbreak that has changed them.
Above all, she introduces what all people want to hear; hope, by stating ...we will
transform despair into hope and show the world the true meaning of determination
(Blanco ..). After the massive devastation that happened to their town, hope is all
people are thinking about; they want to forget all the negative events and make
sure everything goes back to normal. All things aside, the people of Louisiana want
to show the world that they can come back after such a horrible disaster, and their
Governor is all on board in helping support that cause. In conclusion, Blanco is able
to connect with her audience through people s emotions and by being a part of the
people of Louisiana s side; she is willing to stand with them and help by doing as
much as she can. Another way Blanco gets ahold of her audience s attention is
through ethos, or credibility. She
Oliver Queen
Have you ever thought about the way you watch television? One way is to watch
live television, mainly sports games and news broadcasts, but the other, more
common way is to watch by DVR (digital video recorder). I am unable to watch my
shows until the weekend, but thanks to my DVR, I am able to catch up on all of the
ones I had missed during the week due to school and/or extracurriculars. Because I
can watch what some would call excessive amounts of televisionusing my DVR, I
have become incredibly invested in the worlds portrayed on my screen, using these
worlds as a more credible source of reality than the actual world in which I live.
This is what George Gerbner, a professor who holds both a master s degree and a
doctoral degree in communications, calls cultivation theory (Jamieson and Romer 31).

In his world Oliver Queen is a crime fighting hero (and sometimes anti hero) who
gives the bad guys the beating they deserve. Unfortunately for him, fighting the
shady characters of the criminal world does not go without risk of injuries. In one
of the very first episodes, Oliver is hit by a bullet laced with curare, a paralyzing
poison. The audience is then led to believe that he would die only a couple of
months into his crusade, leaving only a single person behind to finish his mission.
Naturally, I sat the edge of my seat waiting to find out if Oliver would live or die.
Of course I knew, like any other reasonable person, that the writers and producers
of a show try not to kill off their main character so soon into the season, but I was so
heavily invested in the plot that I led myself to believe anything could happen. In
addition to my DVR, I have a VCR in my house which also allows me to develop

Dependent Variable: The dependent variable was the duration of the candleflame (or
the time it took for the flame to be smothered).
Controlled Variable: The controlled variable was the burning candle flame.

Symbols In Dead Poet s Society
Symbols can mean powerful things in real life and in movies. The same symbol
can mean a different things at different times through a movie. I just watched Dead
poet s society and it is about a group of boys in a school that was very strict. They
got a new teacher named Mr. Keating, he influenced the boys to be themselves and
made them do weird things that made them express themselves. There are multiple
symbols in the movie. I liked it when they stood on the desk, so that is what I did for
my symbol. When they stood on Mr. Keating s desk and when they stood on their
own desk were similar but they were also different. When the boys stood on Mr.
Keating s desk the first time it was a way to interest them and to get them out of the

Abraham Lincoln Childhood
Born in Bardstown, Kentucky, Abraham Lincoln taught himself how to be strong,
stand for what he believed and wanted to make a difference. To most he was a hero
for his victory in the US Civil War. Lincoln proved to be a strong military leader. He
strategized and paved the way for slaves to be a part of history. At the young age of
two, Abraham Lincolnwas unaware he was getting accustomed to a lifestyle, that
would later impact his career. Abraham Lincoln came from a very normal
background. He spent most of his younger years close to nature. He favorited hunting,
fishing, cropping, and his various boyhood escapes. The Lincolns spent most of their

Lincoln used his background as an outlet when making most of his decisions.
During two occasions, he addressed his respect for Kentucky and its citizens, but
needed them to stand behind his vision. In Sept of 1859, he addressed how he
believed slavery was wrong and wish for it not to spread . In 1860, Lincoln wanted
to succeed Pennsylvania. In Feb of 1861, he had the same speech. Many people
were concerned about what Lincoln could actually do. They did not forget that
Lincoln had little to no experience with law. He only had up to eighteen months of
formal schooling. Despite these facts, Lincoln was regarded as Candidate of pride,
wealth and aristocratic family distinction . Better than most union leaders he
appreciated conditions in the south... and the advantages of being able to call on
the old southern leaders. He was very generous and considerate. Lincoln was for the
North but he was also connected to the South fundamentally and emotionally. In
1864, a northern delegation conferred with him concerning escaped slaves coming
within union lines. Lincoln was once again facing issues he did not see coming his
way. From left to right, people were expecting him to back up his word. He had to

I Have A Good Idea Of My Stress
When it comes to wellness issues, I have always struggled the most with stress. I
have always been more prone to become stressed, due to my anxiety. Therefore,
stress is a big obstacle in my life, and it is something that I need to find a way to
deal with, especially now that I have begun to attend college. Because I have dealt
with anxiety before, I have a good idea of my stress level. My stress levels can
become very high, and as a result, I have several ways of dealing with stress. As a
result, I am familiar with some of the techniques mentioned in the textbook. For
example, exercising has always been an effective stress technique for me. As
mentioned in the textbook, performing exercises such as running and walking on a
regular basis has been an effective way for me to reduce stress. However, the
textbook has also introduced me to new techniques to helpmanage my stress, as well
as ways to improve techniques I already use. One of these new techniques is eating
healthy. Prior to reading the text, I never considered that my eating habits would
affect my stress levels. However, after reading through the text, I can definitely see
how my eating habits and stress levels affect each other. After evaluating my eating
habits, I noticed that I do not eat healthy when I am stressed. When I become
stressed or have an important event coming up, such having a test or a paper due, I
tend to skip meals like breakfast and lunch, and instead eat smaller snacks of foods
such as candy

Three Musketeers Thesis
One for all, and all for one! The most famous and noticeable line in the Three
Musketeers folklore legacy whether it be from the films to the original book by
Alexandre Dumas. Although this famous line has been used throughout many
reworks and adaptations of the three musketeers, many films have not followed in
the footsteps of the original book and have changed things to best appeal to the
audience. Most noticeably we see this in the 1993 Musketeer movie directed by
Stephen Herek that proclaimed that the main character D Artagnan, father was killed
to set a tense mood. However with that being said, there are also many things that

As previously mentioned, the hierarchy of which the French population was
separated was from that of religious figures being the highest to common folk were
placed at the rock bottom of the pyramid. In the film this can be interpreted by the
open fields and the villages in which people were trading their crops for money or
buying them among themself to live off of. France just like any other place during
this time in Europe and also worldwide was mostly agricultural as the first industrial
revolution started in the 1700 s by that of England first. With that being said the
implementation of showing the countryside and the social interactions between D
artagnan and the locals was another way that Stephen Herek subtly shown how
France was during this time.
Ironically the whole plot of the Three Musketeers is a socio political statement in
itself. If not understood by reading the book by Alexandre Dumas and watching the

Louis XIII. In particular this film puts it in which Cardinal Richelieu plots to form

Slumdog Millionaire shows Jamal s slumdog childhood as an exciting adventure,
carefree, always finding ways to acquire food or money, and narrowly escaping

slum is better illustrated in Boo s book since it expose the danger of problems such
as hunger, illness and childhood deviance. Behind the Beautiful Forevers describes
numerous children s tragic death due to the pressures of their hardship and social
injustice. Sometimes leading them to unjust death on the road without clear

after he thought that he was going to be captured and tortured by police or killed

Why The Bathroom Is A Basic Necessity
Going to the bathroom is a basic necessity that everyone does. With this necessity
comes the need for bathrooms so the person can conduct their business in a safe and
clean environment. However, this right is not available to everyone in some
cultures. Women in India still lack a proper place to relieve themselves on a daily
basis, which forces them to defecate in the open, causing rape, illness and health
problems, improper feminine hygiene, shame and humility.
Rape and vulnerability are some of the greatest concerns the women face. In May
of 2014, in Katra village in Uttar Pradesh state, two sisters were found hanging in a
mango tree after they were gang raped (Hjelmgaard). The two girls, aged 14 and 15,

Every 30 minutes a woman in India is raped, and it s often the impoverished women
who relieve themselves in the open who are targeted. To avoid being preyed upon,
the women now go in pairs or groups to the fields to relieve themselves. As another

Charles Darwin s Finch On The Galapagos Islands
Evolution is often thought to only take place over the course of millions of years.
Because of this, it is commonly believed that it is impossible to observe evolution
within a human lifetime. However, two scientists were able to observe evolution
taking place over the course of only a few years. Peter and Rosemary Grant studied
the birds named after Charles Darwin that live on the Galapagos Islands. Darwin was
able to study these finches and develop his theory of natural selection from his
observations. The finches on the Galapagos Islands all evolved separately from each
other and adapted to their unique environments. The different species of finch on the
Islands developed different characteristics over time to fit into their niche in the
The Importance Of Dress Codes In Schools
In 2015, Woodford County High School sent home female student Stephanie
Hughes because she was violating the school s dress code by exposing her collar
bone by wearing a tank top paired with a cardigan, which the school decided was too
distracting for the male students in the school ( Kentucky high school students,
parents fight strict dress codethat requires girls to cover collarbone ). This is just one
example of the countless times that female students have been called out in the
hallways or classrooms of their high schools because their outfits had been deemed
as too inappropriate and too distracting to be wearing at school. This had led many
students and parents to question the fairness of such dress codes and the lasting
effects that they can have on female students that fall victim to their scrutiny. Dress
codes of such extremity are something that have been present in schools for quite a
while now, and dramatically impact how educators teach, and more importantly, how
they interact with their students. The dress code policy set by school districts plays a
huge role in determining how educators interact with their students when this dress
code is violated and what they are teaching their students when handling these
students if a dress code violation occurs in their classroom. School dress codes,
especially those closely related to the one mentioned in the example above, degrade
the female students that fall victim to their strict boundaries and hold the
Chase Birdwell Research Paper
Chase Birdwell I feel that there are two sides to this issue and that they both have
good reasoning, but I believe that technology can be better. I think that technology
is better because in this day and age technology is the new way of communication.
It makes it easier to call/ text people rather than having to wait until you see them
again to tell them something. The most common form of communication is the
cell phone. The cell phone is a great way to keep in touch with relatives out of state,
and be able to talk to them whenever you want. Also the cell phone can be used to
call the police, this can help to keep you safe. For example if you are in the woods
hiking, and you fall and break your ankle, there is no one around to help you,

Civil Law and Criminal Law Public Law and Private Law Substantive Law and Procedural Law Municipal Law and International Law The classification between Public Law and Private Law is one of the most important classifications of law. Public Law in general terms has been defined as the law of relations between the individual and state . Holland lays down the simplest test to determine whether the case falls in public law or private law If one of the parties is state, the case falls in the dimension of public law . However, with passing times and more complex issues arising, the scope of public law is going much beyond the normal definition of state as one of the parties . The scope of public law now also involves various other matters such as business regulation. Also, the scope of public law varies from state to state and system to system. • 6. Arundel Partners 1. INTRODUCTION In 1992, Arundel Partners was looking into the idea of purchasing the sequel rights associated with films produced by one or more major movie studios. Movie rights were to be purchased prior to films being made. Arundel wanted to determine if this innovative business strategy is viable by estimating the value of the sequel rights. 2. OBJECTIVE Our report aims to investigate the viability of the implementation of Arundel s strategy in purchasing sequel rights to produce potential successful movie sequels. The discount cash flow (DCF) approach and the real option pricing approach were adopted in valuing the sequel rights purchased by Arundel respectively. The value of these sequel rights is then compared to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has been calculated to be $4.96M. This value of $4.96M is evidently larger than the $2M paid by Arundel for each individual sequel rights. Optimistic or Pessimistic estimate? With this value of $4.96M as our value for each sequel rights purchased, we are now allowed to compare it with other values of sequel rights to understand if we were too optimistic or pessimistic in our estimate. Driving Miss Daisy, Dead Poets Society and Batman were chosen to be the representative movie sequels with their varied sequel rights values that can be compared to $4.96M. They were chosen because they are all one of the most highly anticipated successful films that can generate sequels. In particular, the PV of these successful sequels will help us determine if we are underpaying or overpaying the current sequel rights for each individual movie. From Appendix 1, it has been determined that the PV of Driving Miss Daisy, Dead Poets Society and Batman are $95.42M, $41.27M and $27.21M respectively. The large magnitude of the PV of these 3 film sequels undermine the relatively smaller $4.96M we calculated earlier. If the studio obtains information that a film is going to be very successful, there is a probability and incentive for them to hold back their production of the initial film so that the sequel contract with Arundel will expire first. This would imply that Arundel may need to pay a higher value for sequel

It was summer in AndalucГa, Southern Spain, and the hot Spanish sun beat down vaporizing any bit of moisture left by the morning dew. History of Olive Oil The olive tree, one of the oldest known cultivated trees in the world, has been a part of Mediterranean civilization since before recorded history [Zamora et al., 2001 (1)]. The edible olive seems to have coexisted with humans for approximately 5000 to 6000 years, going back to the early Bronze Age (3150 to 1200 BCE). Based on written stone tablets, olive pits, and wood fragments have been found in ancient tombs, its dispersion has been tracked throughout the civilizations that developed in the Mediterranean region in the areas now known as Southern Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Israel. Some researchers have reported that the cultivated olive tree originated in Asia Minor, between present Syria, Lebanon, and Israel. Ancient documents in Syria

A Doll s House reflects the idea of oppression and how women are presented as dolls, being controlled and manipulated by their owners. Nora Helmer is placed in the position of a doll in a doll s house in her life because of the overwhelming control her husband, Torvald, has on her life. Despite Nora s fear from Torvald sending Krogstad s notice to be sent, she must put on an act to please Torvald so that he remains content because if he is not happy with Nora s form of entertainment, she will be forces to dance and do other activities out of her own will. Although Nora replies frightened to Torvald when he asks if she is dressed yet for the tarantella, she continues her act of being Torvald s happy, little doll by replying, I look so nice in [the dress], Helmer. (Ibsen 202). This dialogue highlights how Nora has learned to hide her flaws by degrading herself and by praising Torvald s superiority in order to survive in this household. When Torvald tells Nora to practise the dance, it is so she can later present it to him for his entertainment, displaying her similarity to a doll in how Torvald uses her for entertainment. Nora s tarantella dance is an important scene displaying how controlling Torvald is and how much pressure Nora has by trying to be the perfect trophy wife who Torvald desires Nora to be. When Torvald asks Nora whether she has practised her dance, she replies with: I can t do anything unless you help me, Torvald (Ibsen 203) and Sit down and play for me, Torvald dear; criticize me, and show me where I m wrong,

Changes And Development Of The Aging Process Epigenetic changes are currently recognized as part of the aging process and have been implicated in many age related chronic diseases such as AD (1 3). The term epigenetics includes a variety of processes known to regulate gene expression in a stable and potentially reversible way, without altering the primary DNAsequence (4). Since epigeneticsallow for the integration of long lasting non genetic inputs in the genome, research on age related disorders have recently focused in epigenetic mechanisms, and a growing number of epigenetic alterations in AD have been described recently (5). The best characterized epigenetic mechanisms include DNA methylation, histone posttranslational modifications, and non coding RNAs such as microRNAs (miRNAs). It is becoming increasingly evident the interplay between these mechanisms to establish the epigenetic states and expression patterns of many mammalian genes (1 3). For instance, it has been described that trimethylation of histone 3 at lysine 9 (H3K9me3) by the histone methyl transferase SUV39H1 is required for recruiting the DNA methyl transferase DNMT3b to pericentromeric repeats in order to allow heterochromatin structure (both H3 K9 methylation and DNA methylation are considered hallmarks of mammalian heterochromatin) (4). In turn, miRNAs can also control other epigenetic mechanisms; for example, miR 204 can target histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) (5), while miR 148 and miR 152 are reported to influence DNA methylation
  • 14. Disney Fair Use The first thing that should be done before anything else in this case, is the proper definition of fair use. Merriam Webster s defines fair use as the following: a legal doctrine that portions of copyrighted materials may be used without permission of the copyright owner provided the use is fair and reasonable, does not substantially impair the value of the materials, and does not curtail the profits reasonably expected by the owner. The U.S. Copyrightoffice states that these are the activities that can be claimed as fair use: criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. So to further analyze fair use, I shall share some observations. Fair use can be claimed if it does not substantially impair the worth of the movies used in the video, or lose any money for disney. The strategy can also be used if it is used in the context of criticizing, reporting, or providing commentary on something. Teaching, research, and scholarship are also forms protected by copyright. So first we will look at if Disney s profits are harmed, let s take a look at what disney is worth: Disney currently has about 1.61 billion shares outstanding. Motor developmental theories provide insights into how children grow and learn. Theories are helpful for understanding and guiding developmental processes. The principle of the maturation theory is growth and development occurs in orderly stages and sequence, that is, certain skills and abilities generally occur before other milestones are reached. For example, most infants learn to crawl before they learn to walk. However, it is also important to realize that the rate at which these milestones are reached can vary. Blanco does an exceptional job gaining attention through her audience through pathos, or emotions. She gets to people s emotion side by expressing heartbreak, loss, devastation, and above all; hope. Many people, if not all, have experienced at least one of these emotions at some point in there lives, which helps them relate to Blanco s speech. Blanco introduces the subject of loss, devastation and heartbreak by stating ...our thoughts are the families who were literally ripped apart by the storm.... I have met brothers separated from sisters, mothers and fathers searching for children, and children who have seen things no child should have to witness... my heart goes out to every family (Blanco ..). As a result, I am familiar with some of the techniques mentioned in the textbook. For example, exercising has always been an effective stress technique for me. As mentioned in the textbook, performing exercises such as running and walking on a regular basis has been an effective way for me to reduce stress. However, the textbook has also introduced me to new techniques to helpmanage my stress, as well as ways to improve techniques I already use. One of these new techniques is eating healthy. Prior to reading the text, I never considered that my eating habits would affect my stress levels. However, after reading through the text, I can definitely see how my eating habits and stress levels affect each other. After evaluating my eating habits, I noticed that I do not eat healthy when I am stressed. When I become stressed or have an important event coming up, such having a test or a paper due, I tend to skip meals like breakfast and lunch, and instead eat smaller snacks of foods such as candy

It is rather a sexual addiction, a disease or even something that is not identified. Although autobiographical writing is always used as a healing method to overcome the obstacles that the writer of it faces in dealing with his depression, yet, Fornes does not follow this pattern in her play Sarita. The most famous and noticeable line in the Three Musketeers folklore legacy whether it be from the films to the original book by Alexandre Dumas. Although this famous line has been used throughout many reworks and adaptations of the three musketeers, many films have not followed in the footsteps of the original book and have changed things to best appeal to the audience. Most noticeably we see this in the 1993 Musketeer movie directed by Stephen Herek that proclaimed that the main character D Artagnan, father was killed to set a tense mood. However with that being said, there are also many things that reflect the time in which the book was written and also the social and political hierarchy and structure of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As previously mentioned, the hierarchy of which the French population was separated was from that of religious figures being the highest to common folk were placed at the rock bottom of the pyramid. In the film this can be interpreted by the open fields and the villages in which people were trading their crops for money or buying them among themself to live off of. France just like any other place during this time in Europe and also worldwide was mostly agricultural as the first industrial revolution started in the 1700 s by that of England first. With that being said the implementation of showing the countryside and the social interactions between D artagnan and the locals was another way that Stephen Herek subtly shown how France was during this time. Ironically the whole plot of the Three Musketeers is a socio political statement in itself. If not understood by reading the book by Alexandre Dumas and watching the films, the main plot is that Cardinal Richelieu plots against the king of France, Louis XIII. In particular this film puts it in which Cardinal Richelieu plots to form an alliance with England as France is about to go to war. For the Cardinal to even be able to do something

Slumdog Millionaire shows Jamal s slumdog childhood as an exciting adventure, carefree, always finding ways to acquire food or money, and narrowly escaping punishment for his deviant acts every time; however, the reality of childhood in the slum is better illustrated in Boo s book since it expose the danger of problems such as hunger, illness and childhood deviance. Behind the Beautiful Forevers describes numerous children s tragic death due to the pressures of their hardship and social injustice. Sometimes leading them to unjust death on the road without clear cause. For example, Sanjay, a young boy in the slum was pressured to end his life after he thought that he was going to be captured and tortured by police or killed by gangsters for being a witness to a crime. Boo described, [Sanjay] was convulsing on the floor. Pulling Sanjay up, thinking that he was having a seizure, his mother caught a chemical reek on his breath. His sister retrieved a white plastic bottle from the corner of the room...But the empty plastic bottle was rat poison...He lived for two hours after reaching the public hospital (Boo 171 72). The tragic death of Sanjay shows the immense pressure of living in the slum which can lead to a young boy taking his life away without second thoughts. On the other hand, Slumdog Millionaire shows Jamal stealing and scamming with his
  • 41. Why The Bathroom Is A Basic Necessity Going to the bathroom is a basic necessity that everyone does. With this necessity comes the need for bathrooms so the person can conduct their business in a safe and clean environment. However, this right is not available to everyone in some cultures. Women in India still lack a proper place to relieve themselves on a daily basis, which forces them to defecate in the open, causing rape, illness and health problems, improper feminine hygiene, shame and humility. Rape and vulnerability are some of the greatest concerns the women face. In May of 2014, in Katra village in Uttar Pradesh state, two sisters were found hanging in a mango tree after they were gang raped (Hjelmgaard). The two girls, aged 14 and 15, had gone into the fields near where they lived because there was no toilet in their home (Hjelmgaard). The girls deaths could have been easily prevented if they had a toilet in their home (McCarthy). These girls were not alone. Goldberg adds that, Every 30 minutes a woman in India is raped, and it s often the impoverished women who relieve themselves in the open who are targeted. To avoid being preyed upon, the women now go in pairs or groups to the fields to relieve themselves. As another precaution, they go before dawn and then hold it until dark (McCarthy). Holding in your shit or urine can lead to more problems. Holding in urine encourages bacterial growth and increases the risk of developing a urinary tract infection (UTI). Frequent UTIs can also lead to

Because of this, it is commonly believed that it is impossible to observe evolution within a human lifetime. However, two scientists were able to observe evolution taking place over the course of only a few years. Peter and Rosemary Grant studied the birds named after Charles Darwin that live on the Galapagos Islands. Darwin was able to study these finches and develop his theory of natural selection from his observations. The finches on the Galapagos Islands all evolved separately from each other and adapted to their unique environments. The different species of finch on the Islands developed different characteristics over time to fit into their niche in the

The Importance Of Dress Codes In Schools In 2015, Woodford County High School sent home female student Stephanie Hughes because she was violating the school s dress code by exposing her collar bone by wearing a tank top paired with a cardigan, which the school decided was too distracting for the male students in the school ( Kentucky high school students, parents fight strict dress codethat requires girls to cover collarbone ). This is just one example of the countless times that female students have been called out in the hallways or classrooms of their high schools because their outfits had been deemed as too inappropriate and too distracting to be wearing at school. This had led many students and parents to question the fairness of such dress codes and the lasting effects that they can have on female students that fall victim to their scrutiny. Dress codes of such extremity are something that have been present in schools for quite a while now, and dramatically impact how educators teach, and more importantly, how they interact with their students. The dress code policy set by school districts plays a huge role in determining how educators interact with their students when this dress code is violated and what they are teaching their students when handling these students if a dress code violation occurs in their classroom. School dress codes, especially those closely related to the one mentioned in the example above, degrade the female students that fall victim to their strict boundaries and hold the

I think that technology is better because in this day and age technology is the new way of communication. It makes it easier to call/ text people rather than having to wait until you see them again to tell them something. The most common form of communication is the cell phone. The cell phone is a great way to keep in touch with relatives out of state, and be able to talk to them whenever you want. Also the cell phone can be used to call the police, this can help to keep you safe. For example if you are in the woods hiking, and you fall and break your ankle, there is no one around to help you,
